Synopsis of the Movie Young Guns
The scene that I will be discussing for this paper is called He s a spy from the
movie Young Guns. In this scene, Billy and his gang are confronted by Murphy s
men. With the mise en scene, this helps the viewer identify that the time period
being portrayed here is the late 1870 s or the early 1880 s. The mise en scene being
used for this movie is important in telling the story from a different era as in today
s world, no one dresses this way anymore. Also to include from this scene is the
lighting. I will attempt to give an explicit description of the use of the lighting and

THEORY:
The purpose of this experiment is to find out if we can identify an unknown Cobalt
(II) nitrate concentration by using Calorimetry. Calorimetry involves the use of light
to determine a specific solute in solution (Sullivan 238).A given molecule absorbs
particular frequencies of light and passes others. If we are able to determine the
degree in which various frequencies are absorbed, the population or concentration of
a given molecule in solution can be determined. In this experiment we are trying to
find out the visible spectrum of the known Cobalt (II) nitrate solution by using
absorption versus the wavelengths to determine the analytical wavelength. Once the
analytical wavelength is found we can use that to identify the unknown Cobalt (II)
nitrate solution, by using the Beer s law.
Beer s Law is a direct liner relationship between the absorbance of light are a

During the ninetieth century, the Victorians debate over women s behavior. In
Jennifer Swartz Levine s article Staking Salvation: The Reclamation of the
Monstrous Female in Dracula she comments about The concept of the Angel in the
House the pure, virtuous, non sexualized female is one of the most monolithic and
immobile depictions of Victorian womanhood (Swartz Levine 2). At the time the
belief of following the Victorian society s set limits would be beneficial while
wrongdoers would be punished. Victorians at the time were to believe in women
being pure and non sexual, like Stoker s character Mina Harker. When characters like
Lucy and the other three female vampires act apart from Mina, morals come into
question. However, Stoker feeds into the fear of contamination and punishments

Catch 22 Themes
In Joseph Heller s satirical novel Catch 22, Yossorian, an American bombardier
soldier in World War II, is stationed on an island off the coast of Italy with his fellow
comrades. Everyone there is frustrated and upset as most of them have completed the
amount of missions that are needed to be sent back home, but catch 22is a law that is
interpreted different ways throughout the book that ultimately is there to keep
soldiers from going on leave. The war gradually takes a severe toll on Yossorian,
especially when his friend Nately is killed in combat. After this, Yossorian refuses
to fly anymore missions and gets caught in Rome illegally. With this, the officers
over Yossorian give him two choices: be court martialed or receive an honorable
discharge by voicing his approval of raising the amount of missions to eighty
before a soldier can be sent home. Yossorian, however, had other plans as he
decides to get away from the catch 22 once and for all by escaping to neutral
country of Sweden to take control of his life once again. There are many different
elements that Joseph Heller utilizes to portray the horrors of war such as the
characterization of Yossorian, the characterization of Milo Minderbinder, and the
theme of the absurdity of war presented throughout the novel. Unlike many other
