Crafting an essay on the topic of "Advertisement Essay Example" can be a challenging task that
demands a thoughtful and analytical approach. One must navigate through the vast landscape of
advertising, considering its multifaceted aspects such as visual elements, persuasive techniques,
target audiences, and societal impacts. The challenge lies not only in presenting a comprehensive
overview but also in delving into the depths of critical analysis.
To begin with, there is the complexity of understanding the various forms of advertisements,
ranging from print media to digital platforms. Each medium brings its unique set of challenges
and nuances that need to be explored to provide a well-rounded perspective. Moreover, an
effective essay requires a deep dive into the psychology behind advertising—how it influences
consumer behavior, shapes perceptions, and even plays a role in cultural dynamics.
Furthermore, the examination of specific advertisement examples adds another layer of
difficulty. The chosen examples must be relevant and representative of broader trends in
advertising. Analyzing them requires dissecting visual elements, deciphering hidden messages,
and assessing the overall impact on the target audience.
Another dimension to consider is the ethical aspect of advertising. Addressing questions of
truthfulness, transparency, and the potential for manipulation adds a layer of complexity to the
essay. It demands a careful evaluation of the ethical dilemmas that advertisers often face and
how these dilemmas contribute to shaping the industry's ethical standards.
In addition, the evolving nature of advertising in the digital age introduces further challenges.
The rapid pace of technological advancements and the constant shift in consumer preferences
make it necessary to stay updated on the latest trends and innovations within the advertising
landscape.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on "Advertisement Essay Example" provides an
opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, enhance research capabilities, and articulate well-
reasoned arguments. It is a task that requires not only a thorough understanding of the subject
matter but also the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of advertising examples is no easy feat. It demands
a comprehensive exploration of various facets, from the technical aspects of different advertising
mediums to the ethical considerations within the industry. However, navigating through these
challenges provides an invaluable opportunity to delve into the dynamic world of advertising
and develop a nuanced understanding of its impact on society.

Euphoric College Freshman
Picture this: a euphoric college freshman ready to take on the world and any
challenges that may come her way to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. There is
so much excitement and hope for the future, and although first semester classes can
be tough, she works through the challenges. And yet, there is an unexpected obstacle
that cannot be ignored; not of external origins, but rather from inside herself. I am
that freshman, and this is my dilemma. Collegebegan with my vision of becoming a
pediatric oncologist, and while that dream is not dead, competition has arisen.

Although these two disciplines stand on opposite sides of the biological scale in size,
I believe they are inevitably related. Microbial communities enthrall me because so
little is known about the way in which these organisms interact and affect each other,

own bodily functions. On the other hand, vertebrate physiology is compelling due to
its applicability in our own lives. Understanding the why and how behind everyday

Essay on Comparison of Jackson s Short Story The Lottery...
Almost every person in the world holds a set of traditions which have been
established and practiced for a long period of time. However, some traditions often
cause us to not see the rationality despite of the destructive nature it may have. In
Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery , a sacrifice of one s life becomes the
jackpot of an annual event held in a small town. This society s traditions have caused
the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they
have become so stuck in their own cultural beliefs.
In the short story, The Lottery , Jackson s use of symbols reveals a twisting plot that
isn t recognizable until nearly at the end of the story. Her use of third person point of

Here in this village, the lottery only takes about two hours with the 300 residents that
currently live there. In some towns, the lottery takes nearly two days and must be
started on the 26th. Jackson writes it could begin at ten o clock in the morning and
still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner (156). This
states that they want to get this completed so they can return home with their families
and have a family lunch. Relaying no emotion to the fact that death is the outcome of
this whole ordeal.
In the film The Lottery the setting is more modern and appears to be in the 1960 s
even. You are able to identify this due to the articles of clothing they possess, the
way the towns people do their hair and make up in some sort. Another clue is the
shops out front of the town square, compared to the short story; it was led to
believe as if none of that had come into place at the time. Also the area seems to be
more industrialized than a rural town would be i.e. automobiles. It is never clear as
to what day it may be until the characters give dialogue of the other towns having to
start the lottery a day ahead June 27th. The town s people seem to have much more
concern and empathy in the film rather than the short story because of the emphasis
they put on the characters faces and their dialogue. Mrs. Hutchinson when called out

Advertisements Act As Important Tools For Companies
And...
Advertisements act as important tools for companies and organizations to persuade
their desired audiences to believe in their product and to want what is being
promoted. They accomplish this task by incorporating a wide variety of persuasive
techniques in order to enhance their product and/or message. Throughout the
advertisement multiple scenes are employed to build up the feelingof nostalgia and
trustbefore the product is even revealed; they are played out in the attempt to
strengthen the positive emotions connected to the product, and the brand, in order to
better persuade the audience. The McDonald s advertisement uses an appeal to
positive emotions, similarity with target, and source trustworthiness to effectively
persuade parents that the McDonald s brand has remade itself to be a healthier
version for their children, while also portraying that it s the same McDonald s they
know and love. This advertisement aims to appeal to parents as McDonald s
focuses on expanding upon the idea that parents want their children to have
childhoods like theirs, if not better, and it utilizes many techniques to accomplish
this. Most of the advertisement exemplifies this as it quickly explores the
relationship between a young boy and girl. By revealing at the end that the boy
who seemed to be taking care of the girl was actually her father, it appeals to parents
and their desire to take care of their children in the best way possible. In addition to
this, by showing the boy in the
Events That Shaped Me That I Am Today
Some of the things that have shaped me into the person that I m today are my
family, the people that I grow up around, some of the events In my life. There are
many events that have shaped me in the the person that I m today. Also the people
that I have grown up around has dramatically helped shape me into the person I am.
My familyis one of the main things that have helped shape me into the person I m
today. One of my early memories are of my mom working and going to school at the
same time to take care of eleven kid son her own. We also used two have a garden
and we would go there everyday to take care of the plants. But my mom started to
work all of the time so we were no longer aboul to go there so me and my sister made
a garden in the back yard so that when my mom had time we could still garden. That
is why one of my hobbies is gardening.
Some of the events that had help shape me into the person that I m today is of me
and my family always going places. Most of the time we would go to the beach or
hiking. I was told by my sisters that one time when we were walking up a hill that
my older sister corina had slipped and rolled into some mud and was covered from
head to toe in it. Another event that shaped me into the person that I m today is
when my sister passed away and most of my sister we re not on good terms with
her. So when she passed away my sisters had a lot of regrets about not being aboul to

Shoppers Research Paper
There many ways to divide shoppers, but my way is rich, middle, and poor. In other
words, unlimited shoppers, undecided shoppers, and limited/sales shopper. These
three group of shoppers depend on the amount of money they have or is given. In
these groups, I am an undecided shopper, who looks for both sales and would buy
clothes at their original price. Many shoppers could sometimes gain debt just for
shoppingwithout a budget.
Now, an unlimited shopper is a shopper who has no limit. These shoppers could
care less about how much their product cost. These shoppers gain the money from
either their high paying job, husbands, parents, or loans from rich friends etc. I could
go on and on about possible ways for these shoppers to gain the money they
Key Ergonomic Hazards Involved With Tanger Outlets

material learned in class, provide a sufficient plan that will minimize or eliminate the
hazards completely.
Description of the Worksite: The Nike store in Tanger Outlets in Gonzales has been
around since 2003 when they decided to expand their margins into Louisiana. The
store is always hiring new employees so the work environment is always in constant
change. The reason for this is because new people means new attitudes and outlooks
on hazards and safety in the store. The work environment is always busy with the

This does not sound like it is that high, but the shoes are arranged on the shelves to
where the smaller sizes are on the top shelf and the larger sizes are on the bottom.
Customers constantly complain that the shoes need to be in the opposite order
because it would make more sense and the shorter people could reach their rightful
sizes. The middle section consists of lower walls (about 3/5 the size of the left
most and right most walls) in which there are two spate walls. This space is
considered the kitchen and is where most of the customers can sit and try on shoes.
Then the right most walls are exactly the same as the left most walls. The space in
between each wall on the left and right is four feet of space. In the middle section,
the two walls are separated by 12 feet of space. The four foot spacing between the
walls on the left and right are not ideal for the amount of traffic that enters the store
and are also ergonomically hazardous in their design.
Importance of Ergonomics in Retail: An ergonomic hazard is a physical factor within
the environment that harms the musculoskeletal system. Ergonomic hazards include
themes such as repetitive movement, manual handling, workplace/job/task design,
uncomfortable workstation height and poor body positioning (Australian
Government Comcare, 2014). Cynthia L. Roth makes a great claim about the
importance of ergonomics in retail by stating that at every stage of the supply chain,
ergonomics can be used to protect

clear and are stated, but not guaranteed.
It s important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve.
Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin,
who never fails to reiterate the organization s ultimate goal Bring a championship to
the title starved city of Cleveland.
The elephant in the room can t go unnoticed. The Cavs haven t won an NBA title
since the franchise came into existence, and the last time any professional team

may determine the amount of money you earn, authority (or respect) you have and
the roles you take on. Since the beginning of time women have voiced their
dilemma in how they are not equal with their male counterparts. Many have
questioned where this ideology has come from. The Battle of the Sexes is not only
a board game that can be purchased, but a psychological battle that we face that in
cases surpasses race and ethnicity issues. The book of Genesis written before 4000

Women Writers, many femalewriters are recognized in this collection of stories and
poems from their opinions, stories and subtle or not subtle cry for equality. In
Margaret Fuller s Educate Men and Women as Souls it states Had Christendom but
been true to its standard, Women would have not only equality power with man
(Fuller 430). Even Fuller who in the 1800s wrote this piece expressed that because
of the lack of understanding in scripture, it created misunderstanding in our view of
men and women and equality. For in the book of Galatians it states There is neither
Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are
all one in Christ Jesus (3:28). Being in this case a supreme being; Christ Jesus to
which the bible is the story representing his love especially in the gospel, to him we
are equal, but it was through our eyes from the illustration of Eve being created
from Adam that we concluded that we were less important or valued because he
were created second or created from Adam. Margaret Fuller in her writing Educate
Men and Women as Souls uses the technique of being very literal to convey her
message of how men and women are created equal. In her quote Sex, like rank,
wealth, beauty, or talent, is but an accident of birth she is concrete in her message
and uses creativity to express that for example but an accident of birth (430). In her
other essay titled Household Nobleness she explains the women s role of the

In the play Our Town , by Thornton Wilder, a character by the name of Simon

with disgust on how much living persons waste their life, asserting, To spend and

People live their lives working towards something they think will always be
attainable, setting their eyes on the future, living for the future, rushing for the future,
and ignoring the present. With Our Town , ThorntonWilder is attempting to show us
these faults and trying to persuade us to live in and for the present and to cherish
every day that we live and breathe.
With the people of Grover s Corners representing this daily ignorance and triviality,
the lives of the people who surround me are no exception. Take, for instance, my
father, who on most days awakes early to leave for his job, works all day and
comes home only to drive my siblings and I around, run errands, go to his side jobs,

our moral growth, and our educational careers. Some nights my father will sit down

when the last time was that my father found time to simply admire his and my
mother s garden without actually having to tend it. And yet another example is my
mother, who does not even have to worry about her job most of the time, for she

Kneeling During The National Anthem Should Not Be

Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed
Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to
disrespect their country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling
during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community,
and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things
such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge
controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of
adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting
more focus on politics.
First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest
country in the world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and
the right to pursue a life of happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football
players will still disrespect our Anthem. This problem has gotten so big that even
our president has had strong words concerning the issue. President Trump has taken
to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it should be illegal
and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being said,
there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not
allow players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlinof the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead
these players they hide in the locker room during the Anthem. In my opinion,

Mysteries of the Multiverse

Subject: PCS 181
The term multiverse has many nicknames including but not limited to quantum
universes, alternate universes, alternate realities etc. But, what is the multiverse? If
one was to look up the meaning of the word, the definition that is provided in the
Oxford Dictionary states a hypothetical space or realm consisting of a number of
universes, of which our own universe is only one 1. The use of the term multiverse or
its other moniker parallel universe, has been used in cosmology, physics, and
philosophy to perhaps more prominently in science fiction literature and movies for
decades. Ever since Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe is expanding in the
1920s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though existence of multiverse has not been proven to be a fact as of yet, the
primary concern regarding the validity of multiverse theory is the fact that the
existence of multiverse is not observable nor scientifically testable. Science is based
on validity, reproducibility and the pursuit of truth. However, how does one prove the
existence of something, if it is purported to exist outside of our visual horizon?
Unlike distant stars, we have yet to see light, emitted from a parallel universe through
a telescope. So, the argument against multiverse theory is that it is a belief, rather
than a proven scientific fact and it is hypothetical in nature. And prioritizing
hypothesis over observational confirmations is a mistake that scientists are not
afforded to make. George Ellis4, Professor of mathematics from University of Cape
Town supports this view by suggesting that even if there were infinite number of
universes, infinite is a mathematical entity rather than a physical one and therefore,
we could not count the infinite galaxies in a finite time and thus, it is impossible to
prove the existence of infinite universes through mathematical tests and observations.
And if it cannot be tested, why should it be any more scientifically valid than
metaphysics or astrology?
But, defenders of multiverse theory point to Kant and his speculation regarding some
nebulae being island universes 5
Cybersex And Pornography
Furthermore, cybersex and pornography is addicting. It is so addictive that families
would even split up. A family dynamic will change once one either the father or the
mother is addicted to cybersex and pornography. It could create trust issues with the
following spouce.
Not only does having an addiction hurt people, it could create liars. If the spouse
does not want others to know about their problems and marriage by going to a
counselor they would be just covering up for them.
Similarity
Between the two subjects, Cybersex and Pornographgy, and Online Video
Gaming, many similarities can be seen. Addiction is the key holder to the adjacent
denominator. It also states the obvious of anyone with an addiction needs
counseling help. There are many ways to help out someone in need with an
addiction: (Earle Earle 1995) Many addicts and family members join self help
groups modeled on the 12 steps of AA (106). There needs to be more ways to put
out there that there is help for these types of people. Another problem of people not
going to help groups or counselors is they do not feel comfortable and trusted, as
stated in (Earle Earle 1995) Most family members will demand that the therapist
demonstate again and again that they can be trusted and that (s)he will not neglect,
reject, or abandon the patient (104).

they can deal with disabled passengers. In my opinion I believe this is decent
because it is stress free for all the information to be found on the website this means
if people struggle finding particular information it is split into different parts
therefore they can find depending on what the needs are to create the customer to
be comfortable while flying with them. However I consider this is awful since that
you can only proceed through with a travel agent or over the phone which means if
people can t access a travel agent they would be obliged to call by phone and at
times phone can have bad signals or other problems with phones which may limit the
way they can actually move to support you on the plane to make sure they remain at

Who Was Responsible For Julius Caesar Murder Essay
When Julius Caesar was brutally murdered, rumors went flying. But are any of them
true? In 44 B.C Julius Caesar was a very powerful man. Many people enjoyed
having him as their dictator, but many did not. On March 14th 44 B.C, Julius Caesar
met his end. Brutus, Cassius, and the Senate are responsible for this crime.
First, Brutus is an individual responsible for murdering Caesar. Caesar was aware
of the rumors of people planning his death, his wife even dreamt of this event.
Many worried about him and tried to keep him from going to the Senate on the
15th. Brutus, however, convinced Caesar to go. Caesar believed Brutus because
Brutus was supposed to be his best friend. There was also a letter from an
eyewitness about how Brutus was indeed involved in the murder, with two other
people. So, that is how I know Brutus was involved in the murder of Julius Caesar.
The next person responsible for the murder, is Cassius. There is not as much
evidence pointing to Cassius as there is to Brutus but it is still clear that Cassius was
involved. First off, the same letter saying Brutus was involved, also said Cassius ...

While it is unclear exactly who did it from the Senate, it is clear one of them was
involved. The first piece of evidence pointing to the Senate is a private letter to
Caesar warning him of the rumors spreading around that if he went to the Senate
meeting as planned, he would surely be murdered. The Senate also hated Caesar
for his uncontrollable desire for power. They didn t want him to take over, so they
had to get rid of him. The last piece of evidence, is of course from the eyewitness.
The eyewitness is from the Senate, and says that Caesar came into the meeting
looking angry. He yelled at Brutus and Cassius before stabbing Brutus in the hand.
They tried to restrain him, but after him not calming down, they all killed him. Three
people, one death. This is how I am sure someone from the Senate was also
Distribution Of Minimum Spanning Trees
Distributed Verification of Minimum Spanning Trees
Authors: Amos Korman, Shay Kutten
Problem Statement: A graph and a tree is given as input in a distributed manner and
the algorithm is should be able to verifiy if the tree is a Minimum Spanning Tree
(MST).
Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement
Definitions
Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree
and includes all the vertices of G.
Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of
weight of its edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of
the graph.
Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the
algorithm should check if the tree is an MST for the graph.
In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a
distributed manner which means that each node of the graph knows which of its
edges belong to the tree. A node does not have any knowledge of the edges which do
not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should label the vertices of the graph
so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours only is able
to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST.
Motivation
The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier
than computation. In a distributed setting verification is even more important
because the tree is given in a distributed manner and computing such a

The American Health Insurance System
In attempting to remedy the unjust nature of the American health insurance system,
one cannot determine what a just system should be based on the current assessment
of society. Inequalities within the current system cannot foster discussion for what we
believe is justice because preconceived notions cloud the judgment of even the
foremost health policy intellectuals. Many philosophers therefore turn to creating
hypothetical societies where these inequalities do not exist as a means to facilitate
the discussion as to what true justice requires. Two such individuals, Ronald
Dworkin and Charles Fried, have constructed such situations as a means to assess
what a just healthcare system should be comprised of in a truly fair market economy.
Although they agree on issues pertaining to the resources available to individuals in
a fair market, they also disagree on what constitutes justice in regards to how
individuals may spend their allocations. An assessment of the disagreements between
the two reveals that the main consideration for what justice demands of society boils
down to the degree to which individuals are responsible for purchasing their share of
health insurance as well as their fellow citizens . In assessing the current pitfalls of
society that have resulted in an unjust health care system, income and medical
knowledge are at the forefront. In an attempt to hypothesize a just system for health
care, fair income and equal state of the art medical knowledge seem
Theme Of Conflict In Ayn RandBy Equality 7-2521
The writing of the author s work depicts the author s purpose in the novel. With the
tragic society that Equality 7 2521 survives in, it not only proclaims the major
conflicts in the story, but also passes along Ayn Rand s writing on how it
contributes to expressing the conflicts even further. The prime conflict is
individualism itself in a world that doesn t follow the philosophy of one s
attributions to be upheld. It doesn t exist because of a society that sways the course
of people s lives, coming in the way to maintain an atmosphere with no higher
power than another. We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the

Equality 7 2521 cannot go ahead with what he wants to have for himself in life
which is to be in the Home of the Scholars but instead is assigned to become a Home

uses in her writing gives the readers the
better awareness of how strict the society is that not even the narrator can speak and

Screwtape Letters to mock the evil works of the devil and give us an
understanding of spiritual warfare that is constantly going on all around us. Many
people refuse to believe their lives are being interfered with by spiritual forces, but
it is not something that should be ignored. Lewis saw the importance in
recognizing spiritual warfare in order to learn how to fight it, and that is one of his
inspirations for writing this book. Although we aren t sure how demons attempt to
lead us away from God, Lewis gives a detailed account on what he believes is a way
they could go about it. The Screwtape Lettersis a book made up of letters from a
demon, Screwtape, addressed to his nephew, Wormwood. Wormwood is assigned his
first patient and it is his skilled Uncle Screwtape s job to help him through the
process. A patient is the demon s human that they are assigned to keep away from
God and to constantly face with temptation. Screwtape receives reports from
Wormwood each week and then responds with advice and techniques. Screwtape
highlights many different ways to keep us from following God, especially with
limiting our understanding of real to mean only the material (23). In other words,
demons don t want us to think about the spiritual world around us, only about real
materials lacking the meaning of the purpose of life so that we don t ask questions
about what will happen to us after death.
Facial Symmetry and Physical Attractiveness
Literature on the topic of attractiveness is very extensive. The human face is
something that catches every ones attention and more over the scientists as well the
psychologists are interested in analyzing the ability of humans to extract information
of the others. Several factors and features are associated with attractiveness. Some
examples include facial symmetry, skin color, facial traits, clear skin and health of
facial skin. It is hypothesized that facial symmetry is an important factors in
measuring physical attractiveness. Different features may be perceived as attractive
by different people. Biologists believed that facial symmetry should be attractive
because it may signal mate quality. Rhodes, Proffit, Grady and Sumich (1998)
manipulated the symmetry to figure out the effect on attractiveness. 4 versions of a
picture were created. One was perfectly symmetric, the others were a highly
symmetric version, normal level of symmetry and a low symmetric version.64
subjects rated these faces. The results clearly stated that perfect symmetry was
significantly more attractive and low symmetry faces were unattractive, more over
the males found the perfect symmetric faces more appealing as potential life
partners, so facial symmetry does play a role in mate selection. In the second
experiment the authors compared the attractiveness of faces at three symmetry levels.
These were normal, high and perfect. The subjects were shown two versions of the
same face at different
Essay about What Really Happened During the First...
There can be countless records of the same event, and while many times each
record is different, there are also incidents in which one needs to know every
record to piece together what really happened. The story of the first Thanksgiving
takes place in 1621, and is generally known as a meal that was shared between the
Pilgrims and the Indians. For the Pilgrims, this was a harvest festival, much like one
they would have had in England. For the Indians, it was a show of hospitality from
the Pilgrims, similar to what they would expect from visiting another Indian tribe.
With being told only that, one can already see that there are already two very
different histories of the same event recorded. Of greater interest, perhaps, are the
different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The History Channel s Desperate Crossing tells the story of the Pilgrims, their
journey to Plymouth, their horrible first year, and finally, the first Thanksgiving.
Desperate Crossing follows the accounts of both Winslow and Bradford fairly well,
but begins to deviate slightly. They show that the Pilgrims and Indians played games,
drank, and raced, and competed together, some of which are only vaguely and briefly
alluded to by Winslow, and never by Bradford. The History Channel also shows a
much more tense situation than the impression given from Bradford and Winslow.
According to the History Channel, everything from Massasoit showing up with his
ninety some men and the Pilgrims firing their arms is all a display of strength from
both sides.
The History Channel obviously takes some liberties in their presentation of
history. Winslow and Bradford do not mention anything about the clothing worn, if
there was any drinking involved, if there was silverware, where the feasts were
held, and many other seemingly trivial details. Desperate Crossing makes some
assumptions on what took place in 1621, but it does quote both Winslow and
Bradford word for word. While we re shown a picture that may or may not actually
represent what took place at the first Thanksgiving, at the very least, we re given
Winslow s and Bradford s descriptions of it. The History Channel used what was
already known from the eye witness accounts combined with what
Pros And Cons Of Banning The Daily Stormer
While banning The Daily Stormer may not prevent them from creating another
outlet to spread negativity, there are still pro s that come from it. One pro that
would come out of banning The Daily Stormer is that there would be one less
outlet spreading hateful messages. Furthermore, there would be no basis of
meaning set out on how to treat others. Banning The Daily Stormer also shows that
companies are willing to step up and speak out on what they believe in. This could
also defer future hate groups by creating fear of also being shut down. Even though
there are other ways to go about getting rid of people who spread hatred towards
other groups of people who are not their own, I think that the web platforms had the
right to deny access to The Daily Stormer if they feared that any other way could
lead to more chaos. I believe that by The Daily Stormer being denied on web... Show

I think that the Daily Stormer should be able to freely express their opinions,
whether other people agree with them or not. People should be able to have a
civilized debate about the things that they may not agree upon. In my opinion, it is
wrong and unjust to punish people for expressing their views, however controversial
they may be. As members of a society, we should accept that not everyone is going
to agree with us, and getting angry or trying to silence someone because they have
different beliefs is simply barbaric. It is important that one learns to listen to different
perspectives about the world. With that being said, I think sometimes it is very hard
for humans to separate their emotions from logic, and when that happens you can t
communicate. Admittedly, the Neo Nazis have a

How Does Brecht Make A Form Of Theatre
In this essay I will be discussing the theatrical style of Brecht and how he created his
own form of theatre and I will be using his play Mother Courage and Her Children to
back up the innovation and techniques that Brecht used during his career.
Mother Courage and Her Children is set in the 30 year s war and follows Mother
Courage making a living by selling supplies from her wagon to armies that they
encounter. Trying to make a living for herself and her family. The focus is on the
conflict that occurs between war profiteering and maintaining a family. Her children
end up dying due to the struggle of trying to live like a family and trying to survive
the war. Brecht wanted to show audiences that if families are going to survive they
need to understand that capitalism needs to go. (Theatre Histories:2010)
Although Brecht was a Marxist he did take interest into a form of theatre that differed
from socialist realism, that was brought upon by Stalin s culture. When Brecht had
written Mother Courage and Her Children he took it with him to Finland after he was
forced to leave Germany after Hitler came into power due to him not being sure how
the Soviet and German communists would treat him. Brecht and his wife, Helene
Weigel, decided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

style of theatre, going to the theatre wasn t an experience that was whole hearted and

Aboriginal People In Canada Essay
Canada a glorious country to spend one s life on has some jig saw puzzles that are
not completely solved. The bottom three choices that makes individuals melancholy
are the following: The way Canada treats its aboriginal people is ranked 11,
Canadian environment ranked 10, and Canadian social safety net ranked 9. For the
past few years, Canadatreats the aboriginal people poorly and not equally. The
longevity of aboriginal Canadians is lower than non aboriginal Canadians and many
babies die at birth. In fact, aboriginal Canadians are the poorest people among all
Canadians living in Canada ( Canada s First Nations: The Legacy of Institutional

For example, the unemployment rate of aboriginal Canadians to African
Americans is 3% worse ( Canada s racism problem... ).Which is really heartrending
because Canada is known globally as a peacekeeping country. Another factor that
causes heartache to Canadians is the environment. Canada doesn t quite pay
attention to emission of greenhouse gas. Since there are a lot of buildings and
houses getting made the air is getting polluted. The agricultural land is getting
cleared up due to new constructions of houses. Canada has low gas emission tax (
Canada Dead Last in Ranking for Environmental Protection. )Which means citizens
will use a lot of gas since tax for gas is low. Canada is ranked 24 out of 178 countries
in the year of 2014. In the past few years Canada was in the top 13 but now has
dramatically fallen behind. ( Country Rankings ). In addition, Canadian s social
safety net is doleful. In the years 2008 2009 more than 363,000 people lost jobs (
Canada declining safety net ) and paying all those citizens welfare have cause
Canada to decline on social safety net. Even though Canada is slowly coming back
up it is not one of the greatest country for providing social safety net.

Have you ever looked at a picture of your parents when they were your age? Or
maybe your grandparents from way back when? Well, judging by how much we
laugh at their goofy clothes and ridiculous shoes, not to mention the hilarious
hairstyles, styles have changed a lot. We?ve gone from high waists to low waists,
baggy shirts to shirts that could fit your little sister, from bellbottoms to skin tight
jeans, and from voluminous hair to straight and silky locks. Yes, style can change
a lot in a few decades and if you think that s a lot of change, try going back a few
centuries, to the times of Shakespeare! Back then, the women wore a lot more
clothes than we do, that?s for sure! The style included a chemise, stockings (hose), a

sleeves, breeches, a belt, ruff, cloak, shoes, and a hat. This age was also known as
the peacock age, because sometimes the men were more elaborately dressed than
the women! Make up and hairstyles have also changed from then till now. Then,
make up was pale, and extremely white. Women wore hats and carried parasols to
escape from the light, to stay as white as possible. Those with darker, tanned skin
were generally workers, so it was important for the upper class to distinguish
themselves from the peasants. Men also used this white paste to identify
themselves from the peasants. Who knew that Queen Elizabeth set the standards
for make up in those days? Her case of smallpox, which left some blemishes, was
easily covered by the heavy white make up. This explains the absurdly pale skin in
her many portraits. Cheeks and lips were ideally red. Kohl was used to darken the
eyelashes. Light hair was also considered beautiful. Hair styles were also very
elaborate. Can you imagine sitting in a chair for 4 days with 20 hairdressers? Well,
many women spent almost that much time, because their hair was almost never
styled. In those days, people very rarely took baths, meaning their hair would last for
a long time. This may seem absolutely disgusting to us, but it was perfectly normal

In 2010, a study conducted by David Conway and Samsung Lim found that for

Murders in California
In the state of California, according to the CAL. PEN. CODE В§ 187, there are
three types of murders that involve having an intention to kill. They are as listed:
premeditated murder, second degree murder malice aforethought, and murder as a
result of provocation. Murder as a result of provocation is one who states a mental
incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or they had temporary loss
of control of oneself and could not control it. This is only seen though through murder
cases for it to end up being a lesser charge. Second degree murder malice aforethought
is a non premeditated killing of a victim who cannot be fully proven there was the
full reasoning of the death. This is also known as having some sort of intent or
recklessness.(Cal. Penal Code В§ 187 [West 1996]). Premeditated murder is
someone who sat down and thought the murder through and went along with it,
also known as first degree murder. So with all that being said, in the scenario about

it clear that she is against blood transfusions due to her religious beliefs, so the

The Rise Of The Peshmerga
Peshmerga means those who are prepared to confront or face death. This military
force began around the 1920 s and have experienced a lot of tension between political
groups. The Peshmerga is currently fighting ISIS which is the biggest terrorist
organization in the world. They are not only the leading protectors of the Kurdistan
Region, but also the entire world.
Initially, the Peshmerga was developed by freedom fighters that were members of
the KDP and PUK, who used guerrilla warfare tactics to regain control of and protect
Kurdistan. After the collapse of the Ottoman and Qajar empires, freedom fighters
created the Peshmerga to regain control over Kurdistan. When the Peshmerga first
started, guerrilla warfare was used to fight enemies and defend the Kurdistan Region.
The Peshmerga had become an effective and powerful guerrilla fighting force at the
time of the Iran and Iraq war in the 1980 s ( Who are the Peshmerga?, 2014). The

the two groups in power of the region and Peshmerga caused a civil war to break

Feminism In The Merchant Of Venice
In the society of Venice, the social system called patriarchy is quite ordinary. The
feminist literary criticism attempts to analyze patriarchies, where men hold the
majority of power, while women are denied access of it. In the sought after play
called, The Merchant Of Venice, by William Shakespeare, women are treated
unequally to men. Furthermore, women are not allowed to choose their own
husbands as well as given a chance to solve legal disputes. As proven in the play,
the patriarchal society of Venice over rules women. When men failed to use
compassion in their society, women are able to solve problems by getting
involved. A man named Bassanio from Belmont is in love with a woman named
Portia who comes from Venice. In order to impress Portia, he is in dire need of
money. Bassanio looks to his friend Antonio who is able to receive a loan from a
man named Shylock in Venice. When Antonio fails to pay back the money, he
must in return give a piece of his flesh away. Although Antonio made a deal with
Shylock, the men fail to recognize how painful it would be if they were to sacrifice
their own flesh. This discrepancy calls for capable women who can bring in a sense
of compassion for Antonio. Although limited by their society, Portia and Nerissa
decide they have the power to create a resolution. This leads the women to dressing
up as men in order to have a say in the case. While trying to settling the dispute,
Shylock continues to refuse anything short of the

Child Labour Essay
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part
or full time basis. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful
to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth
of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India.
The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged
5 14, to be at 12.6 million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children
in India were in a hazardous job. UNICEF estimates that India with its larger
population has the highest number of labourers in the world less than 14 years of
age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of children
who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that
agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while
United Nation s Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is
deployed in agriculture and related activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is
observed in almost all informal sectors of the Indian economy.
Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for
child labour in their products. The companies claim they have strict policies against
selling products made by underage kids, but there are many links in a supply chain
making it difficult to police them all. In 2011, after three years of Primark s effort,

Nextcard also had opportunity to misstate the account. It seems per the case that there
were graphs and charts indicating there were problems at Nextcard, but since the
audit partner signed an unqualified opinion the financial statement users were not
aware of any problems and Nextcard stock prices continued to rise. An unqualified
opinion should not have been given if there were indications of problems. The reason
that this may have happened was that the audit partner was on the fast track and that
the senior auditor had very little audit experience. The third factor is attitude and
rationalization. There are several rationalizations Nextcard managers may have used.
It is obvious that they wanted to be the biggest credit card company so they may have
rationalized that the company could actually make money, or maybe they felt they
were owed the money, or that it was not their fault that so many of their customers
did not pay their debt. No matter what the rationalization was the audit team should
have gotten a better understanding of management s attitude toward ethical behavior
in order to determine if they were capable of fraud.
Financial investors rely on the accuracy of company s financial statements so they
depend on external auditors to insure that the financial statements are free of any
material misstatements. 3. In the
George Dickens s Hard Times
The Victorian Era marks the rise of Industrialism within Great Britain, and with it,
philosophies to match new ethics. Specifically, Utilitarianism became a prominent
concept. The idea, born from the minds of Jeremy Bentham and James Mill,
considers actions morally correct if they perform the greatest good for the greatest
number. Charles Dickens, a famous author of the era, criticized the philosophy for its
dehumanizing qualities. Bentham and Mills s philosophy allowed for
consequentialism, where only the result, not the intention dictates the morality of the
action. Industries abused the system, transforming the society through education and
economics into one of idealization, where people of varying status and sex had
specific roles they must complete. Dickens suggests limiting a person to a singular
task turns them into robots of efficiency only serving the system, effectively
dehumanizing them. Dickens views the results as dehumanizing because of its
emotional and creative repression. Through his novel, Hard Times, Dickens satirizes
the negative effects of Utilitarianism on society, within the setting of Coketown.
Victorian industrialization particularly oppresses women by confining them to a life
of work or a housewife. Dickens designates women as the moral compasses of
Coketown s male dominated Utilitarian society to satirize their systematic social and
mental victimization.
Dickens creates women with the innate ability to morally guide the male dominated
society to

If you had to choose between a worm and squid, you would have a hard time

something that will help you decide between the worm and the squid is looking at

squid is an animalthat lives in the ocean and it can come in many different sizes. I
believe that the squid is more adapted to its environment because the squid has more
abilities.First of all, the worm is still greatly adapted to the environment. Worms like

Shouldn t they be testing ways to revive them, rather than kill them? Even worse, to

Randy Haugen
In January I went to a seminar that was filled with tons of people. The area
consisted of smiling faces that greeted everyone at the door, notebooks in hand,
and a sense of passion cascading from every voice heard within the crowd. A stage
in the front of the room, and tables with chairs set up for the extensive note taking
on self improvement and success. The pencils scribbling frantically on paper about
to be heard once it had begun. These individuals were from all walks of life, poor,
wealthy, short, tall, old and young, however, we all had something in common. We
were all dreamers. We all were there because we were not content with what life had

Paul Getty. During the Great Depression, instead of suffering, and struggling like the
rest of the population, he was a millionaire. He thought out of the box, and would
buy lots of oil rigs and would keep 1% of the of the revenue. He thought of a bigger
picture which enabled him to think differently than everybody else. These
individuals have revolutionized today s society and many did not believe it to be
possible in the beginning. The amount of rejection and mocking they got for
pursing their ideas, and their dreams is crazy! Yet it happens all the time. In
school, at work, and even at home we face this kind of mentality all the time.
Because of this we have placed ourselves in a comfortable state. A state where
conformity breeds, and the lack of ideas, and a lack for uniqueness occurs. My mom
has a saying in our house that fear can stand for either two things. 1. Face.
Everything. And. Run. Or it can mean: 2. Face. Everything. And . Rise. if we can get
out of the mentality of not being good enough, not being smart enough, hardworking
enough, popular enough, and so on then we can actually start improving upon
ourselves, and gaining success, and pursuing what we actually want to
Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic neuropathy is defined as damage to nerves caused by diabetes. Nerve
damage in the arms, legs, hands and feet caused by diabetes is referred to as diabetic
peripheral neuropathy. While some patients may have extremely painful symptoms,
others may be asymptomatic. If there is damage to the peripheral nerves, one might
not be able to feel normally in their arms, hands, legs, and feet. In some cases, these
parts may feel numb. Some may also have a needles and pins, or burning sensation.
These symptoms are often worsened at night and can interfere with sleep. Painful
diabetic neuropathy symptoms exhibit a symmetrical stocking and gloves distribution
and are often associated with nocturnal exacerbation (Aslam, Singh, Rajbhandari,

Thomas And Two Different Jesus
Joel Brizzee 10/17/14 REL 321/ Shoemaker Luke, Thomas and Two Different Jesus
The juxtaposition of any two writings is a formidable task. The content of each,
even if they seem alike, is a small part in determining similarities and differences.
One must also look at the styles, authors, themes, supposed audiences and authorial
intent. This front becomes even more difficult while exegeting and deciphering
ancient texts because of how far removed the writings are from modern
understanding and scholarship. It is also further complicated when one lacks the
factual knowledge of which piece was written first and/or if both texts were using
a third source at the time of their creation. These difficulties find their apex at the
study of Christian history and all of its subsequent writings. In particular, the
gospels according to Thomas and Luke, while they have similarities and at times
identical phraseology are vastly different when one considers their theological
understandings, themes, format and style. Firstly, format and style will be
considered. This is one of the biggest differences between the two gospels. The
format of Luke s gospel and Thomas are clearly different. Luke, as much as it is
technically a narrative, has elements which can be argued that it is an epistle as
well. For example, in his opening verses, Luke is addressing this letter to Theophilus.
Not only is this different than Thomas , which lacks this style, but also unique to
Luke as a gospel itself.
What Are The Positive Effects Of The Russian Revolution
RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
The Russian revolution of 1905 was a wave of mass political and social unrest that
spread through vast areas of the Russian empire. Most of the Russian population were
agriculturalist with impoverished and highly taxed peasants. Dominance of
aristocrats and clergy was there in government. Industries were being set up which
was mostly private property of industrialist. Workers in cities lived in overcrowded
apartments and poor conditions. Ideas of enlightment like democracy, rights of
individual and accountable government. It was spread from Western Europe to Russia
in 19th century. Romanovs were absolute monarchs since 17th century. In 1894 tsar
Nicholas was influenced by Rasputin a mystic. Karl Marx gave the theory of
communism. He said workers as proletariat which means they should only rule.
Vladimir changed the theory he said some of the proletariat should stand further and
prefer dictatorship. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also a negative effect because communism replaces czarist rule. After the
revolution, Lenin created free education throughout Russia. Children learned
communist ideas but they were still educated about the world. Another positive effect
was that Lenin made the eight hour working day, which greatly improved working
condition.
The negative effect was that the Russian revolution had many positive effects on
Russia, but it also had many negative effects on the world. One negative effect was
the spread of communism around the world that was the reason for world war11.
Another negative effect was that 15 million people die after the Bolsheviks and
anti Bolsheviks sweep Russia. After the revolution, people s freedom was lost and
people couldn t read and write, or say whatever they want. People were also not
allowed to celebrate religion as religious leaders were murdered and church were
Panera Bread Competitive Strategies
Panera Bread is considered to be one of the U.S. most successful fast casual
restaurants. The company is one of the revolution makers in the industry of fast
food, which managed to transform the traditional image and perception of to go
products that are available at an acceptable price on the market. As its initial
founding company was established in 1981, Panera Bread managed to gain up to
4.5 billion USD in sales by the year of 2015, whereas the average sales per one store
made up to 2.5 million USD annually (Thompson). Nevertheless, the company that
once managed to upgrade bread and pastry into a trend of fast and healthy eating,
today is struggling with massive competition on the fast foodmarket. Its previous
strategic strengths now became a burden that stops innovation and creativity and does

This approach has been one of the main competitive advantages of the company
that maintained its stores and cafes in a friendly and ambient atmosphere in
various locations. The company did not start as a traditional fast food restaurant,
but rather as a network of places where people could fulfill their natural instincts
with healthy and freshly cooked food with a little higher than average price range.
Panera Bread was one of the trend makers of casual food restaurants, whose vision
was entirely different from the typical model of public facilities. All of the
locations shared a common design and menu that created a unique environment of
the franchise. Moreover, in order to enable high quality service, the executive team
of the company decided to equip all of the bakery s completely to be capable of
making their own products directly to the spots. This fact allowed to reach a certain
level of autonomy and reliability of the brand that always managed to deliver and
provide the freshest and natural

Cultural Differences and The Impact On The Communication Process
Alberts, Martin and Nakayama (2011) describe communication as a transactional
process in which people generate meaning through the exchange of verbal and
nonverbal messages in in specific contexts, influenced by individual and societal
forces and embedded in culture. (p.7) They then go on to state that intercultural
communication occurs in interactions between people who are culturally different.
(p.122) Cultural differences thus affect many interactions, with the communication
process being one.
The movie that I studied was Django Unchained. It follows a German bounty
hunter, Dr. King Schultz and his recently acquired free slave, Django as they go
across America in search of bounties. They then set out to find and free Django s
wife, Broomhilda von Schaft from the evil clutches of her owner, Calvin Candie. It
is set in 1858 in the Deep South, with preliminary scenes in Old West Texas.
The major role players within this film are Dr. King Schultz and Django. Like sugar
and salt, they are two opposites when they first meet. You have Schultz, a well
spoken German bounty hunter who possess a superior control over his dialect and
one who abides by the socially accepted etiquette with regard to the purchasing of
Django, albeit his methods to procure a conversation with him highly questionable.
On the other hand, you have Django, a beat up African American slave who displays

Asthma Research Paper
Asthma is a respiratory chronic disorder affecting about twenty six million people,
both children and adults, in the US. About seven million children suffer from this
disease. This disease has a complex pathophysiology including airflow obstruction,
bronchial hyper responsiveness and inflammation. Factors that stimulate asthma
attacks include exercise, gastroesophageal reflux, environmental allergens, obesity,
tobacco smoke, NSAID use, chronic rhinitis or sinusitis, viral infections of
respiratory system such as rhinovirus (Lemanske, Jackson and Gangnon), irritants,
emotional stress, and perinatal factors such as prematurity.

leukotriene receptor modifiers, (Price, Musgrave and Shepstone) or lipoxygenase 5
blockers. The fifth step is only initiated in case the asthma condition after all the
above interventions, has not achieved relief. Low dose oral corticosteroid is
administered while maintaining inhaled corticosteroids at 2000 mcg/day, and
considering other relevant treatments to reduce use of oral corticosteroids (Rowe,

Avoidance of allergens is crucial for prevention of asthmatic attacks. Such allergens
include irritants and exposures in the environment. Allergen identification via skin
testing is essential, and once identified, the patient should be advised to avoid the
offending allergens. Triggers of asthma may include cold, mites, pollen, mold, animal
fur, small animals or dust (Anderson and Watson). Asthma education is very crucial
in informing people about triggers of asthma, weight reduction, early diagnosis,
control, and management (Elbanna, Sileem and
The Silent Killer Short Story
The Silent Killer
Reginald and Timothy
Let me recount to all of you the tale of Reginald. Reginald was a corporate lawyer
based in New York and lived there with his wife and four children. Reginald s life
was rich and full of joy and happiness. Years went by and Reginald retired with his
family and moved to the great state of Utah. Months later Reginald s wife died of
cancer and his children all moved away to start their futures at college. At that
point in time, Reginald found himself completely alone, depressed, and unable to
leave his house without assistance. But why is he depressed? Some would argue
that he lived a successful life and he has no reason to be depressed. While this is
true some of the time what most people don t see what is really going on. Reginald
often finds himself stilling alone day after day with no one visiting him and being
unable to leave. Reginald is suffering from social isolation however this does not just
affect the elderly or those who don t have family around.
Let s take a look at Reginald s child Timothy. Timothy moved away to college just a
few months after his mother died. He knows a few people and he does is go to
class, comes home, and does his homework. Timothy does this day after day and sits
at home every day. Timothy tries to get out of the house but he feels that he doesn t
have any friends but more like acquaintances. Timothy, much like his father, is
suffering from social isolationism and it is a silent epidemic. People find
Genetic Engineering Is Responsible And Manipulating The...
A couple, a man and a woman, sit in front of a screen. The woman said, Let s
choose brown hair and grey eyes for him. Oh! He needs to be tall and smart, replied
the man. What the couple is doing is designing their future baby. It might sound
crazy to be able to engineer one s children genetically, but technological
advancements in the medical and scientific fields have allowed this as a possible
option for potential parents. Genetic engineering is controlling and manipulating the
genes of an organism. Genetic engineering is usually used to improve the organism
s functions; these organisms are known as genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Genetic engineering is commonly used for the food industry. One benefit that results
from genetically modified foods is the lowered prices for the products. However,
there can be hazardous side effects such as the creation of new toxins (Goldbas,
2014, p. 22). Likewise, mutations in the DNAcan occur from genetically engineering
a baby. In spite of the threatening effects to the baby s health from genetic engineer,
I believe giving people to the option to design their perfect babies allows for the
genetic tree of infertile parents to continue; however, I believe the range of genes
that future parents can select for their fetus has to be restricted to the genes the
parents already carried in their DNA. Before the concept of designing one s perfect
baby can be grasp, one must understand the events in science building up to the
Managing Voluntary Turnover Can Cause Many Problems

Introduction In many organisations, voluntary turnover can cause many problems

problem because of reasons XYZ (reference) and causes outcome (reference). This
essay will argue that in order to maintain stability and productivity within a firm,
specific strategies need to be implemented to manage voluntary turnover productively.

Because the consequences have already received attention in the earlier parts of this
essay, there is less need to discuss them in depth here. Rather, they are presented as
point of departure for our discussion of adaptation strategies in the next section.
Recognising that turnover can have negative consequences is sufficient to establish
the importance of considering adaptation strategies. Turnover may raise the risk of
dissolution for a firm when the individuals among it are considered to be important
repositories of the firm s intellectual capital (Coff 1999). Operational Disruption
Serious disruption of day to day activities may occur as a result of insufficient man
power, replacements with less developed job skills, or discontinuity in decision
making. When employee turnover is high, goal accomplishment may become more
difficult. To be successful, managers must develop strategies that will help them
adapt to the difficult environment caused by an unstable workforce (Dan and William
1982). Demoralisation Turnover by co workers or visible executives may cause those
who remain to question their own position in the organisation and to initiate search
strategies to locate better positions. The considerable speculation by those who
remain about why others
Voltaire s Candide As An Opportunity For Growth Or...
As humans, we have choices: To change, to stay the same, to work, to rest; each
choice provides an opportunity for growth or stagnation. Voltaire s Candide is a satire,
originally published in 1759. The enlightenment ideals which originated in the 17th
century and continued into the 18th century are highly prevalent in Candide. The
work includes vehement criticism of nobility, philosophy, religion, and basic human
cruelty. The main criticism of Voltaire
s work is directed toward philosophical
optimism, a widely accepted idea at the time. Philosophical optimism is the
conviction that We live in the best of all possible worlds. Voltaire s writing is in line
with the philosophy stated in John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil Government
on labor which is that every man has a property in his own person: this nobody has
any right to but himself. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands, we
may say, are properly his. Whatsoever then he removes out of the state that nature
hath provided, and left it in, he hath mixed his labour with, and joined to it
something that is his own, and thereby makes it his property, as Candide
encourages free will and labor in order to achieve a desired end. Voltaire s Candide
employs the motifs of resurrection, hypocrisy, and crime in order to amplify the
negative aspects of human nature, and in doing so, rejects the idea that we live in
the best of all possible worlds and encourages the exercise of free will as well as
making the choice
History And History By James A. Baldwin
People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them. James A. Baldwin
The study of history not only provides information about the past, but gives people
knowledge and details that help shape lives, in the present and future. For the longest
time it has been said that history is bound to repeat itself if it is not understood.
Although the repetition of previous tragic historical events is an important reason to
study the past, there are many others. As American playwright James Baldwin said,
people are a part of history, but history is just as much part of them. This is one of
the more fundamental reasons why the exploration of the past is vital to human
beings. The study of history gives humans a sense of belonging, a feeling that ... Show

Without a knowledge of history how would someone know that the tradition of
having a Christmas tree is thought to come from Pagans in Germany. Or that
Christianity dates back to the 1st. century A.D. Many people do not believe that
learning these things is useful, that knowing where traditions and beliefs come from
is useless. Henry Ford famously said History is bunk . This could not be more
wrong. Humans want to know why they do things, and looking into the past gives us
these answers. Although is has been said time and time again that history will repeat
itself, many people still do not know the full effect it could have. It is very unlikely
to know that communism does not work in large numbers without studying where it
began, and that it did not work. One to the simplest ways to solve problems is to
find out where they began, and studying history provides information from as early
as before man, to the more recent events in world

Summary Of The Space Traders By Derrick Bell
The Space Traders is a short story written by Derrick Bell, science fiction fan and a
talented author. The story serves as a thought experiment: what if space traders
came from another star and offered to buy all the black people in America? This is
a great thought experiment for readers in order to contemplate what would happen
in present day America if something like this were to happen. I enjoyed reading
these works because it puts our present state as a country into perspective, and
allowed me to think of what decision America would come to in regards to selling
all black people in America. The exchange for black people, much like the slave trade
that we have learned about throughout the course, is an example of the inhumane...

I think that this was an interesting turn of events, as it showed what would happen in
such a situation and allows insight on what the decision of the people being traded
would be. I can see the reluctance of many to return after being traded off, because of
the unfair treatment and racist actions of America. Considering the evident trading of
blacks for resources, I can understand how difficult it would be to return back to the
place that immortalized them and treated them as less than human beings, and as a
form of exchange for resources. On the other hand, it is understandable as well that
they would want to return back the place they called home for many years.
Overall, I think it is difficult for any of us to come to a decision on this because it
is different when experiencing this first hand. The thoughts of each individual
enduring such a situation would have to considered in order to truly understand
their decision of returning or staying with the Space Traders. In the article based on
the permanence of racism, and the reaction towards the work of Space Traders, we
were able to insightfully think about the implications of this work and what would
be the reaction America has if this was an offer presented many years later. The
excerpt focuses attention on the President s decision of whether or not the trade
should be carried out. One quote that stood out to me was one of which it was
inferred that if the trade did not happen, the

Advertisement Essay Example. Advertising Essay

  • 1. Advertisement Essay Example Crafting an essay on the topic of "Advertisement Essay Example" can be a challenging task that demands a thoughtful and analytical approach. One must navigate through the vast landscape of advertising, considering its multifaceted aspects such as visual elements, persuasive techniques, target audiences, and societal impacts. The challenge lies not only in presenting a comprehensive overview but also in delving into the depths of critical analysis. To begin with, there is the complexity of understanding the various forms of advertisements, ranging from print media to digital platforms. Each medium brings its unique set of challenges and nuances that need to be explored to provide a well-rounded perspective. Moreover, an effective essay requires a deep dive into the psychology behind advertising—how it influences consumer behavior, shapes perceptions, and even plays a role in cultural dynamics. Furthermore, the examination of specific advertisement examples adds another layer of difficulty. The chosen examples must be relevant and representative of broader trends in advertising. Analyzing them requires dissecting visual elements, deciphering hidden messages, and assessing the overall impact on the target audience. Another dimension to consider is the ethical aspect of advertising. Addressing questions of truthfulness, transparency, and the potential for manipulation adds a layer of complexity to the essay. It demands a careful evaluation of the ethical dilemmas that advertisers often face and how these dilemmas contribute to shaping the industry's ethical standards. In addition, the evolving nature of advertising in the digital age introduces further challenges. The rapid pace of technological advancements and the constant shift in consumer preferences make it necessary to stay updated on the latest trends and innovations within the advertising landscape. Despite these challenges, writing an essay on "Advertisement Essay Example" provides an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, enhance research capabilities, and articulate well- reasoned arguments. It is a task that requires not only a thorough understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of advertising examples is no easy feat. It demands a comprehensive exploration of various facets, from the technical aspects of different advertising mediums to the ethical considerations within the industry. However, navigating through these challenges provides an invaluable opportunity to delve into the dynamic world of advertising and develop a nuanced understanding of its impact on society. • 2. Euphoric College Freshman Picture this: a euphoric college freshman ready to take on the world and any challenges that may come her way to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. There is so much excitement and hope for the future, and although first semester classes can be tough, she works through the challenges. And yet, there is an unexpected obstacle that cannot be ignored; not of external origins, but rather from inside herself. I am that freshman, and this is my dilemma. Collegebegan with my vision of becoming a pediatric oncologist, and while that dream is not dead, competition has arisen. Research is a fascinating and exciting prospect. As a student taking honors biology, Wednesday research lectures thrill me. Every data point brings up a new question in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although these two disciplines stand on opposite sides of the biological scale in size, I believe they are inevitably related. Microbial communities enthrall me because so little is known about the way in which these organisms interact and affect each other, yet they make up the overwhelming majority of the animal kingdom and drive our own bodily functions. On the other hand, vertebrate physiology is compelling due to its applicability in our own lives. Understanding the why and how behind everyday functions is satisfying, useful, and
  • 3. Essay on Comparison of Jackson s Short Story The Lottery... Almost every person in the world holds a set of traditions which have been established and practiced for a long period of time. However, some traditions often cause us to not see the rationality despite of the destructive nature it may have. In Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery , a sacrifice of one s life becomes the jackpot of an annual event held in a small town. This society s traditions have caused the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they have become so stuck in their own cultural beliefs. In the short story, The Lottery , Jackson s use of symbols reveals a twisting plot that isn t recognizable until nearly at the end of the story. Her use of third person point of view is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here in this village, the lottery only takes about two hours with the 300 residents that currently live there. In some towns, the lottery takes nearly two days and must be started on the 26th. Jackson writes it could begin at ten o clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner (156). This states that they want to get this completed so they can return home with their families and have a family lunch. Relaying no emotion to the fact that death is the outcome of this whole ordeal. In the film The Lottery the setting is more modern and appears to be in the 1960 s even. You are able to identify this due to the articles of clothing they possess, the way the towns people do their hair and make up in some sort. Another clue is the shops out front of the town square, compared to the short story; it was led to believe as if none of that had come into place at the time. Also the area seems to be more industrialized than a rural town would be i.e. automobiles. It is never clear as to what day it may be until the characters give dialogue of the other towns having to start the lottery a day ahead June 27th. The town s people seem to have much more concern and empathy in the film rather than the short story because of the emphasis they put on the characters faces and their dialogue. Mrs. Hutchinson when called out as the winner of

  • 5. Advertisements Act As Important Tools For Companies And... Advertisements act as important tools for companies and organizations to persuade their desired audiences to believe in their product and to want what is being promoted. They accomplish this task by incorporating a wide variety of persuasive techniques in order to enhance their product and/or message. Throughout the advertisement multiple scenes are employed to build up the feelingof nostalgia and trustbefore the product is even revealed; they are played out in the attempt to strengthen the positive emotions connected to the product, and the brand, in order to better persuade the audience. The McDonald s advertisement uses an appeal to positive emotions, similarity with target, and source trustworthiness to effectively persuade parents that the McDonald s brand has remade itself to be a healthier version for their children, while also portraying that it s the same McDonald s they know and love. This advertisement aims to appeal to parents as McDonald s focuses on expanding upon the idea that parents want their children to have childhoods like theirs, if not better, and it utilizes many techniques to accomplish this. Most of the advertisement exemplifies this as it quickly explores the relationship between a young boy and girl. By revealing at the end that the boy who seemed to be taking care of the girl was actually her father, it appeals to parents and their desire to take care of their children in the best way possible. In addition to this, by showing the boy in the

There are many events that have shaped me in the the person that I m today. Also the people that I have grown up around has dramatically helped shape me into the person I am. We also used two have a garden and we would go there everyday to take care of the plants. But my mom started to work all of the time so we were no longer aboul to go there so me and my sister made a garden in the back yard so that when my mom had time we could still garden. That is why one of my hobbies is gardening. Some of the events that had help shape me into the person that I m today is of me and my family always going places. Most of the time we would go to the beach or hiking. I was told by my sisters that one time when we were walking up a hill that my older sister corina had slipped and rolled into some mud and was covered from head to toe in it. Another event that shaped me into the person that I m today is when my sister passed away and most of my sister we re not on good terms with her. So when she passed away my sisters had a lot of regrets about not being aboul to apologise to her. That me that you should never treat someone badly

These three group of shoppers depend on the amount of money they have or is given. In these groups, I am an undecided shopper, who looks for both sales and would buy clothes at their original price. Many shoppers could sometimes gain debt just for shoppingwithout a budget. Now, an unlimited shopper is a shopper who has no limit. These shoppers could care less about how much their product cost. These shoppers gain the money from either their high paying job, husbands, parents, or loans from rich friends etc. I could go on and on about possible ways for these shoppers to gain the money they

Then, with the material learned in class, provide a sufficient plan that will minimize or eliminate the hazards completely. The store is always hiring new employees so the work environment is always in constant change. This does not sound like it is that high, but the shoes are arranged on the shelves to where the smaller sizes are on the top shelf and the larger sizes are on the bottom. Customers constantly complain that the shoes need to be in the opposite order because it would make more sense and the shorter people could reach their rightful sizes. The middle section consists of lower walls (about 3/5 the size of the left most and right most walls) in which there are two spate walls. This space is considered the kitchen and is where most of the customers can sit and try on shoes. Then the right most walls are exactly the same as the left most walls. The space in between each wall on the left and right is four feet of space. In the middle section, the two walls are separated by 12 feet of space. The four foot spacing between the walls on the left and right are not ideal for the amount of traffic that enters the store and are also ergonomically hazardous in their design. Importance of Ergonomics in Retail: An ergonomic hazard is a physical factor within the environment that harms the musculoskeletal system. Ergonomic hazards include themes such as repetitive movement, manual handling, workplace/job/task design, uncomfortable workstation height and poor body positioning (Australian Government Comcare, 2014). Cynthia L. Roth makes a great claim about the importance of ergonomics in retail by stating that at every stage of the supply chain, ergonomics can be used to protect
  • 9. Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals. I think last year is last year, and this year is this year, Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the team s media day on Monday. We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but not guaranteed. It s important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve. Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never fails to reiterate the organization s ultimate goal Bring a championship to the title starved city of Cleveland. The elephant in the room can t go unnoticed. The Cavs haven t won an NBA title since the franchise came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a championship was more than 50 years ago. To be fair, the Cavs may never have another media day as wild as the 2014 version. LeBron James had recently announced his return to Cleveland and Kevin Love was traded to Cleveland a little more than a month later, forming the NBA s most recent Big 3 with dynamic point guard Kyrie Irving. Although Irving and Love continue to recover from injuries that forced their exits in the 2015 playoffs, the Cavs should be one of the favorites to win it all when both players reach optimal

Depending on your answer which is a 50/50 question, it may determine the amount of money you earn, authority (or respect) you have and the roles you take on. Since the beginning of time women have voiced their dilemma in how they are not equal with their male counterparts. Many have questioned where this ideology has come from. The Battle of the Sexes is not only a board game that can be purchased, but a psychological battle that we face that in cases surpasses race and ethnicity issues. Women Writers, many femalewriters are recognized in this collection of stories and poems from their opinions, stories and subtle or not subtle cry for equality. In Margaret Fuller s Educate Men and Women as Souls it states Had Christendom but been true to its standard, Women would have not only equality power with man (Fuller 430). Even Fuller who in the 1800s wrote this piece expressed that because of the lack of understanding in scripture, it created misunderstanding in our view of men and women and equality. For in the book of Galatians it states There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus (3:28). Being in this case a supreme being; Christ Jesus to which the bible is the story representing his love especially in the gospel, to him we are equal, but it was through our eyes from the illustration of Eve being created from Adam that we concluded that we were less important or valued because he were created second or created from Adam. Margaret Fuller in her writing Educate Men and Women as Souls uses the technique of being very literal to convey her message of how men and women are created equal. In her quote Sex, like rank, wealth, beauty, or talent, is but an accident of birth she is concrete in her message and uses creativity to express that for example but an accident of birth (430). In her other essay titled Household Nobleness she explains the women s role of the

Simon is dead and buried, as well as several of the play s other characters, when a newly dead young woman named Emily joins their ranks and begins to realize the triviality and ignorance of her existence, as well as that of every living person. The dead are discussing this insignificance and unawareness of the living when Simon comments with disgust on how much living persons waste their life, asserting, To spend and waste time as though you had a million years. With the people of Grover s Corners representing this daily ignorance and triviality, the lives of the people who surround me are no exception. Take, for instance, my father, who on most days awakes early to leave for his job, works all day and comes home only to drive my siblings and I around, run errands, go to his side jobs, or fix the house, help us with our homework, stay on top of both our social lives, our moral growth, and our educational careers. I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community, and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting more focus on politics. First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest country in the world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and the right to pursue a life of happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football players will still disrespect our Anthem. This problem has gotten so big that even our president has had strong words concerning the issue. President Trump has taken to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it should be illegal and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being said, there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not allow players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlinof the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead these players they hide in the locker room during the Anthem. In my opinion,

If one was to look up the meaning of the word, the definition that is provided in the Oxford Dictionary states a hypothetical space or realm consisting of a number of universes, of which our own universe is only one 1. The use of the term multiverse or its other moniker parallel universe, has been used in cosmology, physics, and philosophy to perhaps more prominently in science fiction literature and movies for decades. Though existence of multiverse has not been proven to be a fact as of yet, the primary concern regarding the validity of multiverse theory is the fact that the existence of multiverse is not observable nor scientifically testable. Science is based on validity, reproducibility and the pursuit of truth. However, how does one prove the existence of something, if it is purported to exist outside of our visual horizon? Unlike distant stars, we have yet to see light, emitted from a parallel universe through a telescope. So, the argument against multiverse theory is that it is a belief, rather than a proven scientific fact and it is hypothetical in nature. And prioritizing hypothesis over observational confirmations is a mistake that scientists are not afforded to make. George Ellis4, Professor of mathematics from University of Cape Town supports this view by suggesting that even if there were infinite number of universes, infinite is a mathematical entity rather than a physical one and therefore, we could not count the infinite galaxies in a finite time and thus, it is impossible to prove the existence of infinite universes through mathematical tests and observations. And if it cannot be tested, why should it be any more scientifically valid than metaphysics or astrology? But, defenders of multiverse theory point to Kant and his speculation regarding some nebulae being island universes 5

Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement Definitions Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree and includes all the vertices of G. Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of weight of its edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of the graph. Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the algorithm should check if the tree is an MST for the graph. In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a distributed manner which means that each node of the graph knows which of its edges belong to the tree. A node does not have any knowledge of the edges which do not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should label the vertices of the graph so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours only is able to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST. Motivation The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier than computation. In a distributed setting verification is even more important because the tree is given in a distributed manner and computing such a

The American Health Insurance System In attempting to remedy the unjust nature of the American health insurance system, one cannot determine what a just system should be based on the current assessment of society. Inequalities within the current system cannot foster discussion for what we believe is justice because preconceived notions cloud the judgment of even the foremost health policy intellectuals. Many philosophers therefore turn to creating hypothetical societies where these inequalities do not exist as a means to facilitate the discussion as to what true justice requires. Two such individuals, Ronald Dworkin and Charles Fried, have constructed such situations as a means to assess what a just healthcare system should be comprised of in a truly fair market economy. Although they agree on issues pertaining to the resources available to individuals in a fair market, they also disagree on what constitutes justice in regards to how individuals may spend their allocations. An assessment of the disagreements between the two reveals that the main consideration for what justice demands of society boils down to the degree to which individuals are responsible for purchasing their share of health insurance as well as their fellow citizens . In assessing the current pitfalls of society that have resulted in an unjust health care system, income and medical knowledge are at the forefront. In an attempt to hypothesize a just system for health care, fair income and equal state of the art medical knowledge seem

Lewis, one of the greatest spiritual writers the world has known, wrote the Screwtape Letters to mock the evil works of the devil and give us an understanding of spiritual warfare that is constantly going on all around us. Many people refuse to believe their lives are being interfered with by spiritual forces, but it is not something that should be ignored. Lewis saw the importance in recognizing spiritual warfare in order to learn how to fight it, and that is one of his inspirations for writing this book. Although we aren t sure how demons attempt to lead us away from God, Lewis gives a detailed account on what he believes is a way they could go about it. The Screwtape Lettersis a book made up of letters from a demon, Screwtape, addressed to his nephew, Wormwood. Wormwood is assigned his first patient and it is his skilled Uncle Screwtape s job to help him through the process. A patient is the demon s human that they are assigned to keep away from God and to constantly face with temptation. Screwtape receives reports from Wormwood each week and then responds with advice and techniques. Screwtape highlights many different ways to keep us from following God, especially with limiting our understanding of real to mean only the material (23). In other words, demons don t want us to think about the spiritual world around us, only about real materials lacking the meaning of the purpose of life so that we don t ask questions about what will happen to us after death.

The human face is something that catches every ones attention and more over the scientists as well the psychologists are interested in analyzing the ability of humans to extract information of the others. Several factors and features are associated with attractiveness. Some examples include facial symmetry, skin color, facial traits, clear skin and health of facial skin. It is hypothesized that facial symmetry is an important factors in measuring physical attractiveness. Different features may be perceived as attractive by different people. Biologists believed that facial symmetry should be attractive because it may signal mate quality. Rhodes, Proffit, Grady and Sumich (1998) manipulated the symmetry to figure out the effect on attractiveness. 4 versions of a picture were created. One was perfectly symmetric, the others were a highly symmetric version, normal level of symmetry and a low symmetric version.64 subjects rated these faces. The results clearly stated that perfect symmetry was significantly more attractive and low symmetry faces were unattractive, more over the males found the perfect symmetric faces more appealing as potential life partners, so facial symmetry does play a role in mate selection. In the second experiment the authors compared the attractiveness of faces at three symmetry levels. These were normal, high and perfect. The subjects were shown two versions of the same face at different

The History Channel also shows a much more tense situation than the impression given from Bradford and Winslow. According to the History Channel, everything from Massasoit showing up with his ninety some men and the Pilgrims firing their arms is all a display of strength from both sides. Murder as a result of provocation is one who states a mental incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or they had temporary loss of control of oneself and could not control it. This is only seen though through murder cases for it to end up being a lesser charge. • 35. Feminism In The Merchant Of Venice In the society of Venice, the social system called patriarchy is quite ordinary. The feminist literary criticism attempts to analyze patriarchies, where men hold the majority of power, while women are denied access of it. In the sought after play called, The Merchant Of Venice, by William Shakespeare, women are treated unequally to men. Furthermore, women are not allowed to choose their own husbands as well as given a chance to solve legal disputes. As proven in the play, the patriarchal society of Venice over rules women. When men failed to use compassion in their society, women are able to solve problems by getting involved. A man named Bassanio from Belmont is in love with a woman named Portia who comes from Venice. In order to impress Portia, he is in dire need of money. Bassanio looks to his friend Antonio who is able to receive a loan from a man named Shylock in Venice. When Antonio fails to pay back the money, he must in return give a piece of his flesh away. Although Antonio made a deal with Shylock, the men fail to recognize how painful it would be if they were to sacrifice their own flesh. This discrepancy calls for capable women who can bring in a sense of compassion for Antonio. Although limited by their society, Portia and Nerissa decide they have the power to create a resolution. This leads the women to dressing up as men in order to have a say in the case. While trying to settling the dispute, Shylock continues to refuse anything short of the

The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India. The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6 million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job. UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of children who are deployed as child labour. An unqualified opinion should not have been given if there were indications of problems. The reason that this may have happened was that the audit partner was on the fast track and that the senior auditor had very little audit experience. The third factor is attitude and rationalization. There are several rationalizations Nextcard managers may have used. It is obvious that they wanted to be the biggest credit card company so they may have rationalized that the company could actually make money, or maybe they felt they were owed the money, or that it was not their fault that so many of their customers did not pay their debt. • 40. George Dickens s Hard Times The Victorian Era marks the rise of Industrialism within Great Britain, and with it, philosophies to match new ethics. Specifically, Utilitarianism became a prominent concept. The idea, born from the minds of Jeremy Bentham and James Mill, considers actions morally correct if they perform the greatest good for the greatest number. Charles Dickens, a famous author of the era, criticized the philosophy for its dehumanizing qualities. Bentham and Mills s philosophy allowed for consequentialism, where only the result, not the intention dictates the morality of the action. Industries abused the system, transforming the society through education and economics into one of idealization, where people of varying status and sex had specific roles they must complete. Dickens suggests limiting a person to a singular task turns them into robots of efficiency only serving the system, effectively dehumanizing them. Dickens views the results as dehumanizing because of its emotional and creative repression. Through his novel, Hard Times, Dickens satirizes the negative effects of Utilitarianism on society, within the setting of Coketown. Victorian industrialization particularly oppresses women by confining them to a life of work or a housewife. Dickens designates women as the moral compasses of Coketown s male dominated Utilitarian society to satirize their systematic social and mental victimization. Dickens creates women with the innate ability to morally guide the male dominated society to

The content of each, even if they seem alike, is a small part in determining similarities and differences. One must also look at the styles, authors, themes, supposed audiences and authorial intent. This front becomes even more difficult while exegeting and deciphering ancient texts because of how far removed the writings are from modern understanding and scholarship. It is also further complicated when one lacks the factual knowledge of which piece was written first and/or if both texts were using a third source at the time of their creation. These difficulties find their apex at the study of Christian history and all of its subsequent writings. In particular, the gospels according to Thomas and Luke, while they have similarities and at times identical phraseology are vastly different when one considers their theological understandings, themes, format and style. Firstly, format and style will be considered. This is one of the biggest differences between the two gospels. The format of Luke s gospel and Thomas are clearly different. Luke, as much as it is technically a narrative, has elements which can be argued that it is an epistle as well. For example, in his opening verses, Luke is addressing this letter to Theophilus. Voltaire s Candide is a satire, originally published in 1759. The enlightenment ideals which originated in the 17th century and continued into the 18th century are highly prevalent in Candide. The work includes vehement criticism of nobility, philosophy, religion, and basic human cruelty. The main criticism of Voltaire s work is directed toward philosophical optimism, a widely accepted idea at the time. Philosophical optimism is the conviction that We live in the best of all possible worlds. Voltaire s writing is in line with the philosophy stated in John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil Government on labor which is that every man has a property in his own person: this nobody has any right to but himself. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands, we may say, are properly his. Whatsoever then he removes out of the state that nature hath provided, and left it in, he hath mixed his labour with, and joined to it something that is his own, and thereby makes it his property, as Candide encourages free will and labor in order to achieve a desired end. Voltaire s Candide employs the motifs of resurrection, hypocrisy, and crime in order to amplify the negative aspects of human nature, and in doing so, rejects the idea that we live in the best of all possible worlds and encourages the exercise of free will as well as making the choice
  • 56. History And History By James A. Baldwin People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them. James A. Baldwin The study of history not only provides information about the past, but gives people knowledge and details that help shape lives, in the present and future. For the longest time it has been said that history is bound to repeat itself if it is not understood. Although the repetition of previous tragic historical events is an important reason to study the past, there are many others. As American playwright James Baldwin said, people are a part of history, but history is just as much part of them. This is one of the more fundamental reasons why the exploration of the past is vital to human beings. The study of history gives humans a sense of belonging, a feeling that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a knowledge of history how would someone know that the tradition of having a Christmas tree is thought to come from Pagans in Germany. Or that Christianity dates back to the 1st. century A.D. Many people do not believe that learning these things is useful, that knowing where traditions and beliefs come from is useless. Henry Ford famously said History is bunk . This could not be more wrong. Humans want to know why they do things, and looking into the past gives us these answers. Although is has been said time and time again that history will repeat itself, many people still do not know the full effect it could have. It is very unlikely to know that communism does not work in large numbers without studying where it began, and that it did not work. One to the simplest ways to solve problems is to find out where they began, and studying history provides information from as early as before man, to the more recent events in world

  • 58. Summary Of The Space Traders By Derrick Bell The Space Traders is a short story written by Derrick Bell, science fiction fan and a talented author. The story serves as a thought experiment: what if space traders came from another star and offered to buy all the black people in America? This is a great thought experiment for readers in order to contemplate what would happen in present day America if something like this were to happen. I enjoyed reading these works because it puts our present state as a country into perspective, and allowed me to think of what decision America would come to in regards to selling all black people in America. The exchange for black people, much like the slave trade that we have learned about throughout the course, is an example of the inhumane... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that this was an interesting turn of events, as it showed what would happen in such a situation and allows insight on what the decision of the people being traded would be. I can see the reluctance of many to return after being traded off, because of the unfair treatment and racist actions of America. Considering the evident trading of blacks for resources, I can understand how difficult it would be to return back to the place that immortalized them and treated them as less than human beings, and as a form of exchange for resources. On the other hand, it is understandable as well that they would want to return back the place they called home for many years. Overall, I think it is difficult for any of us to come to a decision on this because it is different when experiencing this first hand. The thoughts of each individual enduring such a situation would have to considered in order to truly understand their decision of returning or staying with the Space Traders. In the article based on the permanence of racism, and the reaction towards the work of Space Traders, we were able to insightfully think about the implications of this work and what would be the reaction America has if this was an offer presented many years later. The excerpt focuses attention on the President s decision of whether or not the trade should be carried out. One quote that stood out to me was one of which it was inferred that if the trade did not happen, the
