Seamus Heaney Essay
Crafting an essay on Seamus Heaney is no easy feat; it demands a delicate balance between
literary analysis, historical context, and personal interpretation. The task involves navigating
through the rich tapestry of Heaney's poetry, exploring the nuances of his language, and
deciphering the layers of meaning embedded in each verse.
To do justice to the subject, one must delve into Heaney's life, understanding the experiences that
shaped his worldview and influenced his poetic expression. Additionally, grappling with the
socio-political backdrop of Ireland, where Heaney spent much of his life, adds another layer of
complexity to the essay. His work is not merely a collection of verses; it's a reflection of the
tumultuous times he lived in, and deciphering this interplay requires a keen analytical eye.
Moreover, discussing Heaney's impact on contemporary literature and his contributions to the
poetic canon adds further intricacy to the task. Unraveling the subtleties of his themes – be it
nature, identity, or the human condition – demands a nuanced approach. It's about more than
just paraphrasing his poems; it's about unraveling the intricacies and drawing connections that
transcend the surface level.
Yet, despite the challenges, writing an essay on Seamus Heaney is a rewarding endeavor. It
allows one to not only explore the depth of his literary genius but also to appreciate the profound
impact he has had on the world of poetry. However, it requires more than a cursory
understanding of his works; it necessitates a profound engagement with his words, a sensitivity
to the underlying themes, and an ability to convey these insights coherently.
In conclusion, tackling a Seamus Heaney essay demands a blend of literary prowess, historical
acumen, and interpretative skill. It's an intellectual journey that goes beyond mere academic
exercise; it's an exploration of a poet's soul and the resonance of his words across time. Similar
essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net for those seeking assistance in

Social Norms And The Behavior Of Young People
I m interested in the youth data reporter s position at ACHIEVE Inc., as advertised
on Facebook. I am currently enrolled as a Humanities and Social Sciences student. I
believe that the skills and experiences I have gained by studying make me an ideal
candidate for the youth data reporter s position.
As a Humanities and Social Sciences student, I have developed strong social and
interpersonal skills to interact with diverse group of young people. For example, one
of my research paper is to study on how social norms affects human behavior, which
deals with the behavior of young people.
This research requires scientific observation, social and interpersonal; skills, and
ability to convey complex ideas clearly. I have prepared dozens of pieces

The Reactions to the Death of Addie Bundren through William Faulkner s
As I Lay Dying. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to
the aspects of literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story
through only the stream of consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight
beyond the piece, through other s views and thoughts. Although the characters might
be acting differently upon each subject or handling each action in opposite ways, the
tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect balance. In As
I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the
family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery,
and internal conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards
to the mother, it is evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell
for she carries the female qualities in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying,
Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by any of the
characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Reasons
for this could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be more
emotionally projected than that of the male characters. However, the aspect of
Dewey Dell not being able to let go of her mother can also play a role in her reaction.

Nepotism Is The Most Important Asset
Nepotism Employee is the most important asset in an organization. One of the goals
of the Human Resources Management in the company is to ensure that all employees
are being treated with dignity and equally. However, there are barriers that are
avoiding the situation from happening. One of them is nepotism. Nepotism that
derived from Latin word Nepot can be defined as unprofessional act that shows
favoritism to the relatives (Wikipedia). Nepotism usually occurs in business
managementand political affairs, but we will only discuss nepotism in business
company management. Nepotism can contribute to lots of disadvantages to an
organization such as unfairness to other employees, lower employees morale and
pressure to the relatives themselves.
First and foremost, the disadvantage of nepotism is unfairness to other employees
(Jones). The feeling arises because the employer shows favoritism only to the
relative s workers. There is possibility that non family employees will feel
disappointed and biased when they are being treated like that. Management who
practice nepotism will always make their relatives prior than other employees. Some
example of unfairness would bias while positioning job, assigning task or distribution
of benefits and rewards to employees unfairly. There is a significant relationship
between unfairness with employees motivation that influences the downward or
upswing of motivation level by the employees.
The second disadvantage of nepotism is lower
Hydraulic Buoyancy s Ability To Float In Water
Density is the degree of consistency measured by the quantity of mass divided by
the volume. Buoyancy means the ability for an object to float in water. When
talking about density we are trying to figure out how depth the object is in the
water or how much water do we need in order for the object be closely deeper to the
water. For instance, if we place a ball in the water and it has a mass of 4grams and the
water has a volume of 2, the densityof the ball placed in the water will be 2 grams
per cubic centimeter. This will mean that the ball has a unit of 2 grams per cubic
centimeter and is closely packed to the water.
Buoyancy means if the object is able to float or not. For instance, if we place a ball
on water, the ball will be able to float because it s less dense that the water itself. If
we place an object that it s denser that water then the object will sink. If we have a
boat and we placed water on the inside of the boat, the boat will sink because the
boat is going to be denser that the water. Buoyancy will help a student determine if
an object will sink or float in a liquid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an object has a volume more that the water then the object is going to float
because the object is able to sustain by itself. If an object has a volume less that the
water the object will sink. By using the density formula we can determine if an
object is going to sink or not because we are able to determine the object density
inside the water. Density is how many grams per cubic centimeters it takes for an
object to be closely pack to the water. With buoyancy we can determine if an object
is going to sink or float in

Introduction
If you are one of the many people struggling each day, keep in mind that beyond my
own struggles there was a purpose for my life awaiting me. And it has proven to be
far, far, far beyond anything I ever could have imagined. You may hit hard times.
You may fall down and feel as though you don t have the strength to get back up. I
know the feeling, mate. We all do. Life isn t always easy, but when we overcome
challenges, we become stronger and more grateful for our opportunities. What really

Matriarchal Madness
Women have been silenced for generations upon generations, their voices of reason
stripped away and locked inside the caves of submissiveness. The key is thrown
out into a vast ocean of misery and peril, and the hope to break free slowly
diminishes. Yet, there are always those women who will never accept their expected
place in society. These women try to break down those barriers in attempts to leave
an imprint on this ever changing world. In civilizations such as Athens, women were
looked down upon and this battle to leave behind tradition proved to be almost if not
fatal. Sophocles Oedipus the King and Antigone exemplify three distinct female
Athenian characters who approach this battle with different fronts. Through analysis
of Ismene, Antigone and Jocasta s distinct characters, the reader better understands
how Sophocles uses a feminine voice to break away from the tradition discerned in
Athenian life to advocate for the rise of a matriarchal influence.
Ismene s emotional facade overpowers her drive for defeating corruption, which
prompts her to plead for mercy rather than demand justice. Sophocles uses Ismene s
character to serve as the expected Athenian woman, one without a voice in society.
Yet, Sophocles tries to break away from this mold, illustrating the effect of a silenced
woman through Ismene s personality. Essentially, Ismene s inferiority as a woman
paralyzes her, and therefore,
Reflection On Gospels
I think Jesus is always looking out for us. I think he has a plan, that plan is made
long before our parents even dreamed of having kids. I know many get angry with
God saying how can he let these evil things happen here on earth. When you think
about it Jesus gave us the power to kill, abuse animals and children, and all around
do terrible things to innocent people. Yet, I believe Jesusmade these challenges for us
so that we may overcome them, so that when the day comes, and Jesus does return to
earth we will be in a better place alongside Jesus.
From my twelve years at Catholic School, I thought I had learned everything about
Jesus. It was not until I read Borg did I learn about the three pillars of the Gospels.
The pillars are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, it is for teaching sexual abstinence through funded programs, and it supports
civic affirmation in Christianity, such as prayer in public schools (Borg, 2011, p. 297).
The Emerging Christianity is a new way of adapting old traditions of Christianity to
accommodate to our changing society. It is being practiced in seminaries and
congregations. Emerging Christianity is closer to the teachings of Jesus because it
includes everyone and it is centered around the three things Jesus emphasized
himself; compassion, justice, and peace. Emerging Christianity does not say anything
about excluding homosexuals, those who get abortions, and the teachings of
evolution. Yet, it focuses on practices and teachings of the Christian tradition,
especially to the older generation, allowing them to rediscover God whom they might
have become skeptical of. Life is about following Jesus and becoming one with God,
and overall Emerging Christianity does just that, by inflicting fewer judgments and
teaching Christianity for a better understanding (Malloy, 2007, p. 27).
Fr. Rick and Father Richard both have strong opinions. Personally, I see both sides,
a world that wants government involved and a world that does not. I feel that many
of what conservatives believe in is what Catholics believe in, such as, abortion, the
death penalty, and same sex marriage is wrong. To be honest, before I came to the

Dr King Jr Kings Letter Analysis
My emotions as I read Dr. King, Jr s letter are anger and sadness. It makes me
angry the way the Negro communities were treated; all they wanted was to have the
same rights as white people. It makes me sad because we are in the 21st century
and so much racism and injustices still exist. This letter reminds me of the way
certain people feel about illegal immigrants. I am not condoning the way they come
in the U.S, but I do know that they come here for a better future. Many presidents
have made promises after promises that they will change the immigration law, but
those promises are always broken. My latest experience that reminds me of Kings
letter is when Mexican people were called rapist. It offended me because I come from

Ambiguity In Yasunari Kawabata s Sleeping Habit
Her hair tickled my nose as I felt it wrap tightly around my neck. Feeling trapped
with no other place to go, I realize that no other person would love me as much as
she does. It is easy to become accustomed to a romantic relationship even though
there may be a lack of love, communication, or passion, but there are couples that
can develop their own peculiar habit. The couple in Yasunari Kawabata s story
Sleeping Habit have a strange habit of having the woman s hair wrapped around the
man s arm and neck to keep him from loosening his embrace. Through Kawabata s
use of ambiguity, it never becomes clear to the reader whether the couple is truly
romantically involved or going through the motions of sleeping together. Kawabata
uses tactile imagery and dialogue to reinforce the sensation of being trapped in a
relationship.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This misleads the reader into believing that the woman is being abused at first, but
as the story progresses the audience is given reason to believe that this woman is
delusional and has an unhealthy attachment towards her lover because she believes
that her hair being pulled by her lover during their sleep is causing it to grow faster.
It is hinted that their love or nights spent together are forbidden since they only have
some night where they are allowed to sleep together, and the woman might be a
mistress of this man or is not married to him. The pains from the pulling of the hair
are the pains she feels when this relationship is being pulled apart. The only things
that hold them together is her fixation on the man and her
What Is One Dream In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
One Can Only Dream Edinburgh, a place that literary genius, Robert Louis
Stevenson, called his home. There were many things that happened in the Scotland
city that influenced Stevenson to write one of his best works, The Strange Case of
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. A lifetime of scattered events all played roles in the
forming classic novella (Stefan 212). Stevenson was a single child who was much
adored by his parents, Thomas Stevenson and Margaret Balfour. Stevenson s mother
had a respiratory disease which was also inherited by her son. The family hired a
private nurse to assist them. The nurse, Allison Cunningham, would often read to
Robert in the morning during his unpleasant coughing spells. Many of the stories
Cunningham read were about hell and damnation. These frightening tales would
cause Robert to have numerous nightmares (Stefan 215). The nightmares tormented
Robert into his adulthood. Stevenson claims that the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde came to him in a dream. While Stevenson was severely sick with a fever
following a lung hemorrhage, the doctor prescribed him many drugs. These drugs
might have aided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jekyll and his alter ego, the devious Mr. Hyde, are proof of Stevenson s obsession
with the multiple identities of man. The occurrence of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is
as well suited to the nineteenth century England as Brodie William s tale in the
eighteenth century. In 1879, almost exactly a century after Brodie Williams, a
similar incidence happened. Charlie Peace, who was a proper violin player, owned
many pets, was a regular attendee of his church, and was outspoken with the
policies of the Turkish government, was also caught living a double life. He was
well admired in his community. Peace was caught stealing from houses, and later
confess to murdering two different people, one of them years before. Charlie Peace
was also hanged for his crime, and now his violin is a popular display in a museum (

Taking a Look at Gender Wars
It s commonly known for boys to be better than girls. For years it s always been a
war against who s better? Growing up its always been girls and boys could only
participate and play with certain things. It was normally like girls would only be
able to play with all the girly things while boys have play with all the boythings.
Then, you have the perception where females have to only take part in the
feminine activities. It was strong stereotypes were girls was only allowed to be
cheerleaders, dancers, writers and poets. While on another hand boys are the
basketball, football and soccer players. The same way goes for the academics where
better at reading and writing while the boys are better at numbers and chemicals.
Majority of these stereotypes are not even legit especially when it comes to the
academics.
For example college wasn t the most relevant thing for a female to take interest in at
one point in life. It was like college for females wasn t the most realistic thing.
Mainly you would hear a male going off to college instead. Rather than a female
attending college, females didn t started attending college until the late 1800s early
1900s. By then you started hearing more females attending campus. Or even thinking
about going to a university. As the ratio started to increases with females the
classroom setting started to change as well as the campus.
Colleges started to have more female class options for the girls. The campuses had
Applying Medical Procedures For Breast Cancer
ABSTRACT
Medical diagnostic system is a branch in bioinformatics that is concerned with
classifying medical records. Breast cancer is the most common deployed cancer in
females worldwide. The main obstacle is the vagueness and ambiguity involving the
breast cancer data. Human nature handles the vagueness and ambiguity easily.
Therefore, doctors diagnose the patient condition using their expertise. Fuzziness and
rough boundary theories simulate the human thinking. The fuzzy rough hybrids
address the uncertainty in terms of membership degree of truth and lower and upper
boundaries of fuzzy rough set theory. This research solves the diagnostic breast cancer
problems via a proposed hybrid model of fuzzy rough feature selection and rough
neural networks. The medical data is preprocessed by the fuzzy rough feature
selection algorithm to remove unnecessary attributes. The reduced data set is applied
to the rough neural network to learn the connection weights iteratively. The test data
set are used to measure the proposed model accuracy and time complexities. Lower
and upper approximations of the input features are weighted by input synapses learnt
through training phase. The fuzzy rough proposed model design and implementation
are declared. The experiments used WDBC and WPBC data sets from the UCI
machine learning repository. The experimental results proved the fuzzy rough model
ability to classify new instances compared with the conventional neural network.

Without direction from my boss, he trust me I will find a way to fix the issue. For
instance, last month our consultant and I designed and launched a new
commissions program. Knowing this was subject to SOX compliance, I developed
very detailed checklist, Gantt charts, and test matrix of before and after scenarios.
With all areas in check, we received accounting approval to promote project to
production. The following month I received a call from accounting, the issue was
unknown with the new commissions system. Using my notes, I was able to quickly
fix the issue and worked with our consultants to isolate the issue. Root cause was a
one of our tables was set to false. Solution was quickly resolved. When managing an
issue, feedback and two way communication is very important in managing issues.
Knowing the needs of the customer (internal/external) and being able to figure out
the root cause of the problem is critical in resolving the issue. Documenting lessons
learned, assigning actions, and scheduling time needed to fix the problem is essential
for managing issues. I feel having a clear vision allows for a quick turn around when
monitoring project results and completion.
Q: What is your experience creating a project plan?

creating a Gantt chart. I use my Gantt chart to track timing and deliverables needed
during each phase of the project. When starting a

In 1947, Atlantic Records was created by Ahmet Ertegunand Herb Abramson in New
York City (Callahan and Edwards). This would end up being one of the biggest
and most important achievements in music history. As discussed in the previous
paragraph, Atlantic Records was able to incorporate many different kinds of
genres into their label making them unique compared to their competitors.
Callahan and Edwards describe the jazz musicians that they had as giants , such as
Lester Young and Sidney Bechet. The fact that they were able to have connections
with these giants shows that from the start, they appealed to the big stars and I
believe this showed they were destined for stardom. Atlantic Records also
produced multiple #1 hits in the R B category in the 1950 s (Callahan and
Edwards). In the late 1950 s and throughout the 1960 s, Atlantic Records created
many big soul hits as well (Callahan and Edwards). This record company was able
to do it all. Another big time period was from 1953 1955 when pop artists started to
cover R B songs (Callahan and Edwards). Atlantic Records was able to jump on this
new trend and this became a big part of their success and continued fame (Callahan
and Edwards). The ability to capitalize on market trends is important in all facets of
business and Atlantic Record showed that they were smart in running the business.

Descriptive Essay On A Fall Day
Today, the weather was very humid and warm outside for mid October. It was a
comfortable temperature outside, so I decided to take my fall jacket off because I
did not want to be too hot as I was walking around the market. I m estimating that it
was approximately mid to low 20 s in temperature today, so whenever a breeze
arose, it was refreshing because it was pretty warm outside. I decided that today I
would take a walk through the dessert sections of the market before going to sit by
the outdoor firepit. There were many vendors selling fudge and pastries, so this
was something I purchased because I was heading home that afternoon and I
thought my family would enjoy these treats. The firepit was not turned on today
because it was fairly warm outside, but I still decided to sit in one of the
Adirondack chairs surrounding the firepit to take in everything that was happening
around me. It was very busy at the market around this time because it was the
weekend, and everybody was taking the opportunity to spend time with their
families outside on the warm fall day. I also noticed an older man performing a
compilation of folk songs on the guitar, and a small group of people huddled around
the area listening to him perform. I started to become restless after sitting in the chair
for about ten minutes, so I decided to continue walking to one of the buildings at the
farmer s market. Throughout my childhood, my parents would usually take me and
my sisters to St. Jacobs Farmers

Charmed: Feminist Theory of Witchcraft and Sisterhood
On the surface of the American television series Charmed is the story of three ideal
sisters with ideal lives. Piper, Phoebe and Prue Halliwell are wives with children and
careers, and all three of them are witches the charmed ones whose powers with
magic are stronger when they work together. Feminist theory is inscribed in the
narrative world of these three sisters. As female leads, they are portrayed as
transcending the typical media boundaries of females. (The Artifice). Piper, Phoebe
and Prue all challenge the various stereotypes previously attached to the portrayal of
women in narratives.

The Avatars, for example, all magical creatures who once were rulers of the entire
world. Upon their demise, their power was tested, and a potion was created which
was so powerful that it was the only thing in the world that could kill an Avatar.
Like the sisterhood of Phoebe, Piper and Prue, if an Avatar dies it affects all of them,
and eventually exposes their weaknesses individually and as a group.
The magical creatures that exist in Charmed are very different from the Avatars. It
is understood whether a magical creature is good or bad in their intentions and in
their nature; but this is not the case for the Avatar collective. They are on their own
agenda. They never claim to be good or bad. Unlike the sisters, the Avatars are not
looking to save innocent lives or fulfill prophecies they actually have no agenda at
all. Ultimately, their goal is to rule the world however they want to. To them, the only
thing that mattered was attaining a perfect world with no intentions of being good or
evil. They linger and they wait patiently. Although they are persistent, they are not
intrusive on others, instead they will only appear and act whenever someone is
ready for them and a Utopian world order.
The dynamics in the series are highly political and they represent real world
constructs. They raise a question of immortality and humanity and breaks many
moral codes. The series reveals the complications of earthly power to its audience and
it resolves these by diminishing the
Summary Of Sorrow Of War By Bao Ninh
War is an entity such that its destructive nature can wear away at even the strongest
of people. Through Sorrow of War Bao Ninh attempts to describe the effects of war to
convey his message of the destructive and warping nature that not only soldiers but
anyone involved or affected by the war. Ninh created broken characters with an
erratic structure to reflect the North Vietnamese progressive mental deterioration.
Using the VietnamWar(1962 1975) and the novel s protagonist Kien as well other
characters such as the main heroine Phuong, Ninh focuses reader s attention the
physically intangible causalities war. He begins with the creation of a sense endless
separation from other through characterization. Also he describes the everlasting
damage done beyond where the eyes can see. Finally, Ninh discusses how the
discontinuity of structure causes readers to familiarise the novel with memories.
Sorrow is a product a traumatic moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This structure is illustrated by showing readers glimpses the present time and
promptly switching back to Kien s time in the war, in the form of flash backs and
memories. Although the structure may seem scattered and random, it has order in
that many of the alterations into different timelines are connected by a single idea.
This simulates how one would remember things in a train of thought. The structure
also suggests the order of how one suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
would interpret trying to deal with memory and emotion. Ninh has made this a
critical piece of the narrative process, allowing the audience to comprehend and
understand the flow. It was many years later that Kien, in the Mia team, returned to
Crocodile Lake. Hoa s image came to him the moment he arrived and he set off to
find the old trail to the river bank and he had apologised for wanting to shoot her.
The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the
formation of the Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO
was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading
(Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier
welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a serious
concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps.
What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps
if it is allowed to continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered
attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates,
the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from
poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic
leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead.
Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to
inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a
follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A
NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With
education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent
leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an
Rhetorical Analysis Of Disney s Frozen
Rhetorical Analysis: Disney s Frozen
Walt Disney Productions prestige is to never disappoint and their latest movie
Frozen, is no exception. The movie centers around the lives of two sisters, kind
hearted Anna and the frightened Snow Queen Elsa. Fearless Anna sets off on a
journey to find her sister, who flees to an icy mountain after she accidentally traps
the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter with her ice powers. Disney s 2013
animated film reeled in its target audience and more; the film intended to appeal to
children s of all ages surprisingly enough enticed a wider audience largely comprised
of non families. Disney s reputation for promoting happiness and the well being of
American families led to the direct success of the movie Frozen. The film met its
purpose, depicting a touching storyline showing the importance of family and
undermining the traditional concept of true love. Furthermore, Walt Disney
Productions established sufficient credibility within its viewers and audience with
the use of artistic proofs such as; ethos, logos, and pathos. Disney s tradition is to
provide the audience with an educational piece of entertainment, Frozen is
undeniably one of those Disney animated films worth seeing. Walt Disney
Productions strategic use of rhetoric made it evident that the movie was going to be
an all time hit some may even say the biggest children s film of all time simply
because it was just that, a Disney movie.

They are impatient. They will refuse to wait in lines or queues, even if it means not
buying what they want. Their time is valuable. If they have questions they want
them answered right away. They are status conscious and like to be seen as
powerful and up to the minute. They do little research before they buy and often buy
on impulse. They treat staff as just there to serve them and have little interest in
staffs feelings or problems. They are not afraid to complain and can do so
Good And Evil In The Monty Python Holy Grail
The struggle between good and evil is a common theme seen throughout the
medieval period. The Monty Python Holy Grail movie was a satire and parody. It
mocked King Arthur s reign. The medieval literature theme of good vs evil is
mocked or satirized in the film and is disln the novel Beowulf. To begin with, King
Arthur and his recruited knights defeat many obstacles on their quest. King Arthur
exterminates a Black Knight in his way in a sword fight. Another example of good
and evilin the film was with Sir Bedevere and the accused witch, who weighed the
same as a duck. Witches are representations of evilso Sir Bedevere, a wise and ethical
knight, defeated the bad. In like manner, Beowulf demonstrates the theme of good vs
evil. Beowulf, is
A Brief Note On The Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas Emissions...
ABSTRACT
Diesel engine exhaust gas emissions and particulate matters have been a serious
environmental problem for a long time. Many research have been made in order to
reduce these emissions since the usage of diesel engines came into large. Major
emissions from the diesel exhaust are NOx, SOx, CO and Particulate Matters.
Amongst these SOx, CO and Particulate matters can be reduced by using after
treatment methods like Catalytic Reduction, etc. Unlike these NOx reduction is a
challenging issue. In this project various types of technologies which are used till
now to reduce NOx В¬has been discussed and the advantages and dis advantages of
each technology is mentioned. Critical analysis is made of emerging and new

INTRODUCTION
Usage of diesel engine in automobiles is increasing worldwide because of its high fuel
efficiency. As the usage increases, the emissions from the exhaust gases also
increases which affects the atmosphere, thereby causing environmental issues such as
global warming, smog and even acid rain. These emissions are mainly due to non
stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of Nitrogen and impurities in the fuel and air
mixture. Major emissions include Oxides of Nitrogen, Oxides of Sulphur, unburnt
Hydrocarbons, oxides of carbon and other carbon particles or soot. Significant
measures are taken by the automotive industries for several years to reduces the
intensity of these exhaust gases. There are two ways of reducing these exhaust gases

Horace Mann Research Paper
Horace Mann (1796 1859)
Horace Mann was a kid who was born into poverty in Franklin, Massachusetts. He
would always go down to the library to study and learn. He taught himself. The
library was his home away from home. He practically lived there. Horace would
read stories beyond his wildest dreams and all the facts and information he needed.
He loved them. Horace was hooked. Since he was born into poverty he wanted to
turn his life around. Horace was determined to make sure everyone gets the education
that he would have liked, he wanted to help.
Early life
Horace was born May 4, 1796, he had no education. So he taught himself all the
basic subjects. He went to the library a lot. It was his favorite place. It was like he
couldn t read enough. He grew up fast and by the time he was twenty he was
admitted into the sophomore class at Brown University. It was a spectacular
experience for him because he never really had an education. At that university he
took interest in politics and education. Upon graduation Horace gave a speech about
the advancement of the human race through education and how it would help the

David Sedaris Essay You Can T Kill A Rooster
Sedaris is sincere in her actions, but I do not think she is completely truthful to
herself. David Sedaris essay, You Can t Kill a Rooster makes me believe that Paul,
with all of his crassness, is a great example of sincerity. Sedaris father has strict
expectations and desires for his children. David s essays show that the father could
be one of the reasons that Amy s behavior is so outlandish, and David s behavior is
more subdued. Paul does not seem to care about his father s desires at all. In
reaction to these expectations Paul says Fuck it, or on one of his more articulate
days, Fuck it, motherfucker. That shit don t mean fuck to me (63). Paul does not
hide. He is not concerned with any consequences that may come from being himself.

Collins twists the phrase multiple times and eventually turns the meaning into you
are a fool to consider me beautiful. That one you will never hear, guaranteed (80).
Both of those phrases reveal two different sides of the same theme of beauty and
foolishness. The interesting part is that the most common phrase describes me as
the fool and you as the beauty. The untold phrase is the one where I am beautiful
and you are the fool to think of me that way. The poem continues on to show that
Yes, there is all this foolish beauty, / borne beyond midnight, / that has no desire to
go home, (81). This sort of foolish beauty can only come out when people feel free
and at peace. It is sincere, which is why it often comes out at times of vulnerability
such as around three o clock in the morning; (80). This beauty can only appear
when a person feels like they are free of expectations and judgements. The foolish
part of the beauty is that we conceal it for most of the time. I think that is why the
foolish beauty has no desire to go home. When I first read this poem, I thought that in
a perfect world, free of insecurity and scrutiny, that this light and pleasing beauty
would be the norm. The foolishness is gone, all that is left is the beauty. Now I think
that the

If he had been nicer to them maybe they would have changed their mood, action, or
maybe even character. Since Reef never did anything to help himself in the future, he
now has to face difficulties in his life. But he also deserves to live with his new
foster parents and every moments he wishes that his grandparents were there for
him in every situation and problem. Now he starts to regret yelling and being a
horrible grandson to them when they were there with him in the past. If Reef had
changed before maybe his grandparents would had been there for him now. Now he
has anger issues sometimes and usually remembers his grandparents in his head that
they were here with him. Reef now has changed his behavior because he knows how
it feels to be treated by yelling and being horrible person by people around him.
Lastly, he could have changed by his language because he never cares about other
people but himself. I think that he was very selfish about caring for himself and
not other. In the beginning of this book he usually never watches his language he
always swears like FUCK OFF , and SCREW U ALL BITCHES . He never had any
manners to anyone including his own friends sometimes to Jink and Bigger. I
believe that this is all Reefs fault because when he was young he should have taken
care of his grandparents so they could have taught him some manner but he never

Spaghetti Monster Thesis
Everyone is familiar with the warm, delicious mouthful of perfection they receive
after sticking the red streaked fork into their mouth. They have all experienced the
trepidation of swirling the slippery noodles, waiting in anticipation as they feel the
warmth radiating from the plate. Everyone, regardless of age, is knows what is like
to consume a plate of the most impeccable pasta, rident as they resist the temptation
to lick the plate clean. It is then that the individual subconsciously realizes that there
must be so much more out there than just his life and struggles. It is in that moment
that he experiences his first awareness of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who is the
one who created all life and is the ruler of the universe. The Flying Spaghetti
Monster should be a central part of everyone s lives because its existence is
confirmed through volumes, it is worshipped by many intellectuals, and because

can easily be found on the Pastafarian website. This includes sightings, artwork and

proves that the E. coli bacterium is a superior creature because it was created in the
image of Him. Other evidence includes the warm feeling believers report receiving

MEMORANDUM A1 Ownership Structures

From:Elliot Chan

Subject:Ownership Risks Assessment and Recommendation
I have received your invitation to invest in the bakery. Firsts offering a sale at
$50,000 for purchase. We have to reform the business between 3 structures such as
sole trader, partnership and a private company. After studying these ownership
structures, I would like to give you my advice and hear from your considerations.
Comparison between Ownership Structures
In a sole trader structure, the owner keeps all the profit since he provides all capital
for the business. A partnership structured business shares its revenue with every
single partner under the calculations. However, it might be beneficial because
splitting up the revenue means that tax payment will also be shared (Department of
State Growth [DSG] 2015 a). On the contrary, private company shares its profit
according to equity of the shareholders. For example, A holds 2% of shares while B
holds 15% when profit sharing occurs A could only get 2 % and B would receive
15% of the profit share.
While discussing mandatory and legislation requirements, sole trader and
partnerships shares most necessities. Crawford (2007) states that both business
structure does not require any mandatory audits, the only business license is
required. According to Crawford (2007), a company that has 50 or more employees
are qualified to audit legislation
Apartheid and Afrikaner Nationalism Essay
History is subjective because it is a subject that is based on a person s knowledge
and opinions. While some events have obvious causes, other events must be
analyzed to find their true impetus. One complicated era from history that has a
debatable cause is Apartheid. While some historians cite complex causes for
Apartheid, most people in the general public simply believe racism was the root of
the institution. While racism did factor into later practices of Apartheid, racism was
merely a byproduct of the social and cultural effects of the institution. When
evidence is examined, the real cause of Apartheid becomes obvious. This era of
South African history was not simply based on social practices such as racism;
Apartheid was rooted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Afrikaners formed a separate linguistic and cultural identity that included a set of
religious beliefs that shaped their worldview. These developments not only separated
Afrikaners from native Africans ethnically, but also provided a template from which
nationalist beliefs were based. This connection between the cultural identity of
Afrikaners and their nationalist ideology is found in the events that occurred shortly
after Great Britain annexed South Africa. Afrikaners believed that the British would
undermine the culture that had developed among Afrikaners by supporting the
mixing of Afrikaner and native cultures. In response to this threat to their ethnic
identity, Afrikaners created numerous political parties that advocated both a separate
culture and country for Afrikaners. Drawing upon the reformed theology of
Afrikaners, political organizations such as the Afrikaner Broederbond claimed that,
...God intended for each nation to develop separately...moreover, God had
specifically created the Afrikaner nation as His chosen people to fulfill a divine
destiny in southern Africa (Beck, 2000, p. 111). Using a religious belief from the
Afrikaner culture, political parties were able build a nationalism that promoted the
segregationist agenda that would later be used for justifying Apartheid. So, Apartheid
was not racist institution, it was merely a product of the nationalist belief that the
Afrikaner people had the right to develop as a
The On The Deep Web
The Deep web is a place on the internet where majority people think loads of illegal
activities happen. While there are illegal activities that happen here, the Deep web
is only the internet that is not indexed by search engines. People can access these
websites through an IP address, but because of these websites not being indexed
no one will be able to find them with normal search engines. The Dark web, where
the majority of the illegal activities are included in the Deep web as the Deep web
is the term used for all the websites including the dark web websites. One browser
people can access these hidden web sites is Tor. Tor is a free piece of software that
lets users access websites and that helps defend traffic analysis. Tor works by
bouncing a user s communication around a network of relays that are run by
volunteers. (Torproject.com) A massive chunk of the websites people can access
with Tor are using the encryption tool they provide. This means these users will
only be able to access them with Tor, or use the same encryption tool. These
websites also have a .onion at the end. While Tor does do a decent job of hiding a
computers location on the deep web, experienced users can still track where the
computers location is and hack into it. The Hidden Wiki suggests that people trying
to access the deep web follow these guidelines to stay a little safer. They recommend
never clicking on a website users don t want to see or be, or would want authorities
knowing about. They
Examples Of Gender Inequality In Cry The Beloved
Country
During the 1950 s, oppression of black south africans was a prominent issue ongoing
in South Africa. Alan Paton, writer of Cry, The Beloved Country, illustrates the loss
of humanity because of apartheid throughout the novel. However, one topic left
unaddressed in Cry, The Beloved Country is the underlying issue of genderinequality
in apartheid South Africa. Women s inferiority to men is illustrated through the
service oriented roles that characters such as Ms. Lithebe and Mrs. Kumalo portray
throughout the novel, as opposed to the authoritative positions that most men in the
novel hold. Women like Absalom s wife (the pregnant girl) and Gertrude also fall to
the superiority of men but on a different level, forced into sexualized roles for
survival after their husbands/boyfriends leave them. Portrayed through the morally
depraved gender stereotypes, the voiceless and nameless women of South Africa, and
the homebound women of Johannesburg, Alan Paton s lack of development of
women s roles in society mirrors the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is epitomized through Gertrude s way of living and the aspersion she receives
in contrast to John Kumalo s equivalent choices left undiscussed. Furthermore,
Absalom s girlfriend, a pregnant abandoned girl, epitomizes the voiceless women of
South Africa when she has no hopes for herself, only serving others. Ultimately, it
was South Africa s many homebound women that embodied women s oppression,
their presence being limited to the confines of their own homes. All this evidence
goes to further prove the lack of female prevalence in a South African Society. On
the whole, it is crucial to look deeper into the deep rooted issues of Cry, the Beloved
Country, and to wonder what other underlying issues were neglected throughout the
The Pros And Cons Of The Internet, Television, And Social...
We live in a world surrounded by hate, discrimination, bullying, suicide, and
unrealistic expectations. I am not saying these things did not exist in previous years,
but they have manifested into a monster that cannot be stopped. Everywhere you go
you can probably count on one hand how many people you see not on their phones.
The issues I stated are mainly related to the internet, television, and social media.
There are more cons about the internet, TV, and social media than there are pros.
Some cons are delayed child development, long term mental disorders, cyberbullying,
and suicide, while pros are easy to access to articles and news, communicating, the
convenience of having the world at your fingertips. With privileges provided by
internet, social media, and TV comes responsibility, and many people don t
understand the consequences of one harsh comment, hours of watching TV, and
reading false facts on the internet. Limiting screen time would drastically change the
mental and physical effects on humans.
The first major social media surge was in the early 2000 s. MySpace set the
foundation for the media controlled world that we live in today. Facebook and
Twitter began around the year 2005. Today there are over one billion people on
Facebook and 330 million active users on Twitter. It is estimated that 81% of the
world s population has social media; that is approximately two billion people more
worried about their phones than about what is happening around them. Children

The Moral Distinction Between Civil And Political Rights
Maurice Cranston on the moral distinction between civil/political rights and social
/economic rights. economic, social and cultural rights have been seen as requiring
high levels of investment, while civil and political rights are said simply to require
the State to refrain from interfering with individual freedoms. It is true that many
economic, social and cultural rightssometimes require high levels of investment both
financial and human to ensure their full enjoyment. However, economic, social and
cultural rights also require the State to refrain from interfering with individual
freedoms, for instance trade union freedoms or the right to seek work of one s
choosing. Similarly, civil and political rights, although comprising individual
freedoms, also require investment for their full realization. For example, civil and
political rights require infrastructures such as a functioning court system, prisons
respecting minimum living conditions for prisoners, legal aid, free and fair elections,
and so on.
Civil/Political rights: safety and justice, no discrimination or oppression. Physical and
mental integrity.
Social/Economic rights: right to work, paid vacation, welfare. Rights of a certain

Sustainability as Part of Corporate Social Responsibility
A new role for corporations has evolved worldwide. This role is responsible to handle
the wants of the present generation, while simultaneously being able to consider the
wants of the future generations. Organizations are indirectly obliged to take
initiatives and responsibility for their operational actions that have an impact on the
natural environment and society. The natural environment that creates our basic
standard for living is becoming more threatened by the human use. Not only the
natural resources are being consumed to its limits, but also the procedures behind
extracting those resources have a damaging effect on the environment. Thus, for
many companies sustainability has become an important part of their strategy in
order to deal with this issue. Sustainability supports the practices that are relevant for
extracting the natural resources in order to create a harmonic situation in which the
nature and humans can exist jointly allowing a growing economy, society and nature
for the present and future generations of humans and animals. Sustainability deals
with concerns making sure that humans will be provided by the natural resources,
such as water, air or other natural resources relevant for living (epa.gov, 2014).
Sustainability is part of corporate social responsibility that is becoming a significant
integral part of company s identification nowadays. It shows how a company achieves
ethical standards and how a company applies the values of sustainability in
A Correlation Between Emotion-Focused Coping With Test...
A Correlation Between Emotion Focused Coping With Test Anxiety And Age
Motivation can come from a variety of factors in an individual s life, stress is one
of those factors that can have either a positive or a negative effect (Deckers, 2014;
Heiman, 2004). Stress can appear in an individual through physiological,
psychological and behavioural symptoms (Deckers, 2014). Deckers (2014) conveys
that when an individual has a physiological response to stress, it is the product of
hormones creating the symptom in the body, for example, nausea or sweating. In
addition the psychological symptoms representing stress are identified through the
level of stability of an individual s mind and feelings, and can be rated through
measures of anxiousness, nervousness, self confidence, irritability or negativity of
emotions (Deckers, 2014). Behavioural symptoms of stress can be enacted out by an
individual through excessive or dysfunctional conduct, for example, through an
increase in consumption of alcohol or caffeine, an intake of drugs, or poor sleeping
habits (Deckers, 2014). Although the symptoms mentioned have an attached negative
stigma, it does not necessarily follow that all encounters with it will result in
negativity. Deckers (2014) explains that stress can be a motivator to a goal: if a
problem arises in the pursuit of the goal, stress can occur, then an individual could be
encouraged to overcome the situation to achieve their goal through coping. Lazarus

Though aggregations, CIDR scheme can decrease forwarding tables. The practice
of aggregation can still be inhibited by few components. For example a network
208.12.21/24 needs to use the IP address allocated in the same network and the same
IP prefix to be used when it needs to modify its service provider. Therefore from the
same service provider all networks from 208.12.16/24 to 208.12.31/24 can still be

This router is not able to aggregate 208.12.16/20 and its forwarding table will store

Binary Trie:
With values 0 and 1, each node has at most 2 branches in a binary trie. As per the
bits of the destination address, the search begins at the root level and goes to the
right or to the left. The prefix is recollected as the long prefix checked so far every
time we check a node marked as prefix while the trie is traversed. Once the best
equivalent prefix is the last prefix remembered and there are no branches identical to
the next bit in the destination address, the search stops.
At each step the search space is condensed hierarchically and the Binary trie is a
sequential prefix search by size. Till the onset to a node without branch node can be
inserted, putting in a prefix starts with a search. As a prefix and erasing idle nodes,
removing processes begins also with a search unmarking the node. As the prefixes are
characterized by the trie configuration, nodes don t store prefixes.

Marijuana Should Be Legalized In The United States
Marijuana has been prevalent in the United States of America since its birth in 1776.
Currently, there is a prohibition on marijuana, similar to the prohibition of alcohol
from 1920 to 1933. Most arrests in the United States are first time nonviolent
offenders who are in possession of the illegal substance, due to this prohibition.
Despite being illegal at a federal level, Colorado and Washington have passed laws to
legalize medicinal and recreational use of the substance. On top of that sixteen other
states offer medicinal marijuana, including the nation s capital, the District of
Columbia. Marijuana should be legalized in the United Statesof America as a whole,
because of the amount of revenue that it would generate, the medicinal benefits that it
can offer to those who are sick, and the legalization would stop the incarceration of
nonviolent offenders who wish to use marijuana.... Show more content on

Indigenous Peoples Of Native Americans
There does not seem to be one definitive definition of indigenous people, but
generally indigenous people are those that have historically belonged to a particular
region or country, before its colonization or transformation into a nation state, and
may have different often unique cultural, linguistic, traditional, and other
characteristics to those of the dominant culture of that region or state (Rights) The
land to Native Americans is a very sacred object. To us, as nonnative individuals,
we don t look at the land the same. As agriculturists we have a respect for the land
and want to maintain its fertility so it can continue to bless us with crops. While a
ski bum may have respect for the mountains and terrain that was given to them to be
able to ski and enjoy. Native Americans see the land as a whole. They as people don
t just respect it for certain entities they respect it for everything it has given to them.
Their ancestral land has a fundamental importance for their collective physical and
cultural survival as peoples. Indigenous peopleshold their own diverse concepts of
development, based on their traditional values, visions, needs and priorities. As
nonnative individuals it should be our job to help protect these sacred lands, and
restore what damage that has been done to them. But instead, big companies are
destroying sacred land all over the United Statesby mining, drilling for oil, or even
building for scientific research.

The Effect Of Foam Rolling On Decreasing Delayed Onset...
The following study Foam Rolling for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and
Recovery of Dynamic Performance Measures performed by Pearcey et.al studied
the effectiveness of foam rolling on decreasing delayed onset muscle soreness
(DOMS). DOMS can contribute greatly to the discomfort that a physically active
person experiences after an intense workout. According to Pearcey et. al (2015) the
intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post exercise, peaks
between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears
in five to seven days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early
twenties. The study used a repeated measure design method to test the effectiveness
of foam rolling the muscles of the lower extremities. The study tested the following
variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads, thirty meter sprint speed, broad jump
distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength endurance after
preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All
participants in the study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions
were separated by four weeks; the sessions were randomly assigned to the
participants. The testing sessions included an orientation with 1RM squat and
practice of each test, followed by four conditions four weeks apart. The participants
warmed up on the cycle ergometer then completed the DOMS protocol. Data was
analyzed using magnitude based inferences. Baker et.al
Crying Is The Companion Of The Spirit And The Cure Of
Soul
Crying is the companion of the spirit and the cure of the soul . In life s ups and
down , tears are the closest and most loyal to the heart . When one is melancholic ,
s/he cries , and when one is jovial , s/he cries too . However , some people consider
shedding tears is exclusive for women , who are modest , compassionate , sensitive ,
soft , nurturing , intuitive , sentimental , docile , inconclusive and emotional but
prohibited on men who are supposed to be aggressive , sturdy , rational , emotionally
detached , power loving and focused on potential and authority . On the contrary , an
opposing party interferes , protesting and defending mans natural right to express his
feelings . Throughout history , men s cryinghas always been a controversy , but quite
the majority of people males , females , specialists and religious people acknowledge
shedding tearsas the most natural phase of man s face expressions that reveal strength
, sentiment , love and respect .
The ability to accept men s crying has varied between different periods in history . To
begin , the Bible is full of weeping . For example , Joseph burst into tears several
times , in which his tears were tears of rage , tears of pain and tears of sensitivity ,
.. his sobs were so loud that the Egyptians could hear. Moreover , among Greek
Heroes , tears were lavish, such as Achilles in The Illiad . In medieval Europe , the
elite would conceal their emotions because they felt forced to do so , but this
Will Hunting Psychology Disorder
The main character of this film was Will Hunting, a young man from South Boston
who grew up in the foster system and was portrayed to be of low social economic
status. Regardless of Hunting s background he was remarkably intelligent, he
explained it as similar to the way Beethoven could naturally plan a piano. There
was never and official diagnosis given for Hunting s condition but there were
symptoms that pointed towards anxiety and borderline personality disorder. The
most distinct symptom I noticed for anxiety was during a session with Sean his
therapist. Hunting was talking about a job that was offered to him by the
government dealing with code breaking. Hunting created a scenario in which
breaking a code would cause the death of one of his buddies , a raise in gas prices,
war and oil spills.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hunting showed many of the symptoms of borderline personality disorder
including mood swings, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, impulsive
behavior, and anger. These symptoms were very clearly shown throughout the
entire film and many were also pointed out by Sean. A scene where the viewer saw
most all of Hunting s symptoms was the scene when Skylar asked Hunting to go to
California with her. He creates a scenario that if he would to go to California with
Skylar she would find something out that she doesn t like about him, abandon him
and he would be stuck in California. He becomes angry and aggressive towards
Skylar yelling at her and pushing her. Finally, when she asks him if he loves her
Hunting says no even though he truly does. This is because of his self destructive
behavior and inability to have stable
Essay on Linux Operating System
Linux is a trademark owned by Linus Torvalds [1]. It is an operating system which
is powerful, free and inexpensive to own based on UNIX [1]. It is a POSIX
compliant with versions available to install in cell phones, supercomputers and
most computing systems [1]. Linux is an open source program as its source code
is available to the general public for use and the right to modify from its original
design without any charges [1]. New code will be added to the next version made
available with Linuxif it is accepted as a universal improvement [1]. The code will
continue to exist and developed by the user even if the company fails [1]. Moreover,
updates for Linux are available every six months [1]. Nowadays, Linux is in constant
development by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linux is then officially belongs to the world [2]. Linux kernel was first published
under its own license by Linux, which had a restriction on commercial activity
under its own license [2]. GNU GPL, which used in version 0.99 was then
published in the mid December 1992 [2]. In 1996, Linus announced that the
mascot for Linux wound be a penguin [2]. This is because Linus was bitten by a
penguin on his visit to the National Zoo Aquarium at Canberra [2]. However, an
original draft of today s well known mascot had been provided by Larry Ewing based
of this description [2].
There are advantages and disadvantages of Linux operating system. The first
advantages of Linux operating system is it is free to obtain [3]. Unlike Microsoft,
Linux distribution can be installed on more than one computer without any cost
charged [3]. Besides that, Linux can run perfect on old computers and enable users to
browse the Internet, email, play games, create and edit documents and others [3]. In
security aspect, Linux is much stronger than Windows. This is because Linux uses
smart authorization management [5], which requires user to authorize any action
that might harm their computer by entering the password [5]. By this way, users are
less likely to be tricked into installing malware and running virus programs [5]. In
addition, if user faces any technical problem, they can visit any of the Linux online
forums and post the
Persuasive Essay On Athletes
Somewhere at this very moment someone is arguing and complaining about the
unfair and unequal society. One of those unfair situations is the salaries among
professional athletes and how their bank accounts are filling up with enormous
paychecks. Athletes are active workers just like others, they go to work and they
perform. What happens if they do not perform? They will get fired. So just
because athletes work with what they are meant to do does not give the right to
complain about how unfair life is. Almost everyone has the opportunity to choose
their own path, whether it is to be a professional athlete, salesman or a plumber.
Athletes choose their way of life, and just because of individual failures or
different careers the blame is put on athletes and their work. Now that is unfair
and unequal Everyone can throw a ball into a basket, kick a ball into the net, or
shoot a puck into a goal. How is it that athletes run around on a field and earn
millions of dollars, while a doctor that saves lives earn hundreds of thousands of
dollars less? That s easy, they do not have that talent. The best basketball player in
the history of the game, Michael Jordan played in the NBA for 15 seasons where he
compiled 1,072 games whereof 1,039 from start. During this period, he gathered a
total of 32,292 points, 6,672 rebounds, 5,663 assists, 2,514 steals and 893 blocks
(NBA). Wayne Gretzky, also known as The Great One , is the best player in the NHL
s history. He played a total of 1,487
Eyewitness Testimony Essay
Law and Human Behavior, Vol. 10, No. 4, 1986 Age Differences in Eyewitness
Testimony* Gail S. Goodmant and Rebecca S. Reed1: This study examined age
differences in eyewitness testimony. Children, three and six years of age, and
adults interacted with an unfamiliar man for 5 minutes. Four or five days later, the
witnesses answered objective and suggestive questions, recalled what happened,
and tried to identify the confederate from a target present photo line up. The adults
and 6 year olds did not differ in their ability to answer objective questions or
identify the confederate, but 6 year olds were more suggestible than adults and
recalled less about the event. Compared to the older age groups, the 3 year olds
answered fewer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a further discussion of recent legal trends concerning child witnesses, see
Bulkley (1983), Goodman (1984), and Whitcomb, Shapiro, and Stellwagen (1985).
AGE DIFFERENCES 319 Psychological Issues Research on child witnesses dates
back to the turn of the century (Binet, 1900; Pear Wyatt, 1914; Stern, 1910;
Varendonck, 1911; Whipple, 1909, 1911, 1912, 1913; See Goodman, 1984a and
Yarmey, 1984, for reviews). Many at that time concluded that children are less
accurate witnesses than adults, but methodological flaws r e n d e r the findings of
most of these studies questionable (Goodman, 1984a). There is now reason to
believe that children will not always be less accurate witnesses than adults. Current
theoretical perspectives on memory development propose that children s familiarity
with domains of information can have profound effects on memory development
(Brown, 1979; Chi, 1976, 1978; Fischer, 1980; Mandler, 1984; Nelson, 1983).
Children s early mental organizations of the world are likely to concern familiar real
life events (Nelson, 1983), so children s memory for them should be better than one
would expect based on studies of memory for taxonomic categories, scientific
demonstrations, or other types of information less familiar to children. To the extent
that a witnessed event falls within the realm of children s understanding and
experience, children may in many ways be

  • 1. Seamus Heaney Essay Crafting an essay on Seamus Heaney is no easy feat; it demands a delicate balance between literary analysis, historical context, and personal interpretation. The task involves navigating through the rich tapestry of Heaney's poetry, exploring the nuances of his language, and deciphering the layers of meaning embedded in each verse. To do justice to the subject, one must delve into Heaney's life, understanding the experiences that shaped his worldview and influenced his poetic expression. Additionally, grappling with the socio-political backdrop of Ireland, where Heaney spent much of his life, adds another layer of complexity to the essay. His work is not merely a collection of verses; it's a reflection of the tumultuous times he lived in, and deciphering this interplay requires a keen analytical eye. Moreover, discussing Heaney's impact on contemporary literature and his contributions to the poetic canon adds further intricacy to the task. Unraveling the subtleties of his themes – be it nature, identity, or the human condition – demands a nuanced approach. It's about more than just paraphrasing his poems; it's about unraveling the intricacies and drawing connections that transcend the surface level. Yet, despite the challenges, writing an essay on Seamus Heaney is a rewarding endeavor. It allows one to not only explore the depth of his literary genius but also to appreciate the profound impact he has had on the world of poetry. However, it requires more than a cursory understanding of his works; it necessitates a profound engagement with his words, a sensitivity to the underlying themes, and an ability to convey these insights coherently. In conclusion, tackling a Seamus Heaney essay demands a blend of literary prowess, historical acumen, and interpretative skill. It's an intellectual journey that goes beyond mere academic exercise; it's an exploration of a poet's soul and the resonance of his words across time. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Reasons for this could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be more emotionally projected than that of the male characters. However, the aspect of Dewey Dell not being able to let go of her mother can also play a role in her reaction. This idea is expressed through ...the fan is still moving like it has for

One of the goals of the Human Resources Management in the company is to ensure that all employees are being treated with dignity and equally. However, there are barriers that are avoiding the situation from happening. One of them is nepotism. Nepotism that derived from Latin word Nepot can be defined as unprofessional act that shows favoritism to the relatives (Wikipedia). Nepotism usually occurs in business managementand political affairs, but we will only discuss nepotism in business company management. Nepotism can contribute to lots of disadvantages to an organization such as unfairness to other employees, lower employees morale and pressure to the relatives themselves. First and foremost, the disadvantage of nepotism is unfairness to other employees (Jones). The feeling arises because the employer shows favoritism only to the relative s workers. There is possibility that non family employees will feel disappointed and biased when they are being treated like that. Management who practice nepotism will always make their relatives prior than other employees. Some example of unfairness would bias while positioning job, assigning task or distribution of benefits and rewards to employees unfairly. There is a significant relationship between unfairness with employees motivation that influences the downward or upswing of motivation level by the employees. The second disadvantage of nepotism is lower
  • 5. Hydraulic Buoyancy s Ability To Float In Water Density is the degree of consistency measured by the quantity of mass divided by the volume. Buoyancy means the ability for an object to float in water. When talking about density we are trying to figure out how depth the object is in the water or how much water do we need in order for the object be closely deeper to the water. For instance, if we place a ball in the water and it has a mass of 4grams and the water has a volume of 2, the densityof the ball placed in the water will be 2 grams per cubic centimeter. This will mean that the ball has a unit of 2 grams per cubic centimeter and is closely packed to the water. Buoyancy means if the object is able to float or not. For instance, if we place a ball on water, the ball will be able to float because it s less dense that the water itself. If we place an object that it s denser that water then the object will sink. If we have a boat and we placed water on the inside of the boat, the boat will sink because the boat is going to be denser that the water. Buoyancy will help a student determine if an object will sink or float in a liquid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an object has a volume more that the water then the object is going to float because the object is able to sustain by itself. If an object has a volume less that the water the object will sink. By using the density formula we can determine if an object is going to sink or not because we are able to determine the object density inside the water. Density is how many grams per cubic centimeters it takes for an object to be closely pack to the water. With buoyancy we can determine if an object is going to sink or float in

Analysis Of Oedipus The King And Antigone Meghana Aghi October 6th, 2014 AP English Mr. Shaffner Matriarchal Madness Women have been silenced for generations upon generations, their voices of reason stripped away and locked inside the caves of submissiveness. The key is thrown out into a vast ocean of misery and peril, and the hope to break free slowly diminishes. Yet, there are always those women who will never accept their expected place in society. These women try to break down those barriers in attempts to leave an imprint on this ever changing world. In civilizations such as Athens, women were looked down upon and this battle to leave behind tradition proved to be almost if not fatal. Sophocles Oedipus the King and Antigone exemplify three distinct female Athenian characters who approach this battle with different fronts. Through analysis of Ismene, Antigone and Jocasta s distinct characters, the reader better understands how Sophocles uses a feminine voice to break away from the tradition discerned in Athenian life to advocate for the rise of a matriarchal influence. Ismene s emotional facade overpowers her drive for defeating corruption, which prompts her to plead for mercy rather than demand justice. Sophocles uses Ismene s character to serve as the expected Athenian woman, one without a voice in society. Yet, Sophocles tries to break away from this mold, illustrating the effect of a silenced woman through Ismene s personality. Essentially, Ismene s inferiority as a woman paralyzes her, and therefore,
  • 8. Reflection On Gospels I think Jesus is always looking out for us. I think he has a plan, that plan is made long before our parents even dreamed of having kids. I know many get angry with God saying how can he let these evil things happen here on earth. When you think about it Jesus gave us the power to kill, abuse animals and children, and all around do terrible things to innocent people. Yet, I believe Jesusmade these challenges for us so that we may overcome them, so that when the day comes, and Jesus does return to earth we will be in a better place alongside Jesus. From my twelve years at Catholic School, I thought I had learned everything about Jesus. It was not until I read Borg did I learn about the three pillars of the Gospels. The pillars are ... Yet, it is for teaching sexual abstinence through funded programs, and it supports civic affirmation in Christianity, such as prayer in public schools (Borg, 2011, p. 297). The Emerging Christianity is a new way of adapting old traditions of Christianity to accommodate to our changing society. It is being practiced in seminaries and congregations. Emerging Christianity is closer to the teachings of Jesus because it includes everyone and it is centered around the three things Jesus emphasized himself; compassion, justice, and peace. Emerging Christianity does not say anything about excluding homosexuals, those who get abortions, and the teachings of evolution. Yet, it focuses on practices and teachings of the Christian tradition, especially to the older generation, allowing them to rediscover God whom they might have become skeptical of. Life is about following Jesus and becoming one with God, and overall Emerging Christianity does just that, by inflicting fewer judgments and teaching Christianity for a better understanding (Malloy, 2007, p. 27). Fr. Rick and Father Richard both have strong opinions. Personally, I see both sides, a world that wants government involved and a world that does not. I feel that many of what conservatives believe in is what Catholics believe in, such as, abortion, the death penalty, and same sex marriage is wrong. To be honest, before I came to the University of

It makes me angry the way the Negro communities were treated; all they wanted was to have the same rights as white people. It makes me sad because we are in the 21st century and so much racism and injustices still exist. This letter reminds me of the way certain people feel about illegal immigrants. I am not condoning the way they come in the U.S, but I do know that they come here for a better future. Many presidents have made promises after promises that they will change the immigration law, but those promises are always broken. Feeling trapped with no other place to go, I realize that no other person would love me as much as she does. It is easy to become accustomed to a romantic relationship even though there may be a lack of love, communication, or passion, but there are couples that can develop their own peculiar habit. The couple in Yasunari Kawabata s story Sleeping Habit have a strange habit of having the woman s hair wrapped around the man s arm and neck to keep him from loosening his embrace. Through Kawabata s use of ambiguity, it never becomes clear to the reader whether the couple is truly romantically involved or going through the motions of sleeping together. Kawabata uses tactile imagery and dialogue to reinforce the sensation of being trapped in a relationship.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This misleads the reader into believing that the woman is being abused at first, but as the story progresses the audience is given reason to believe that this woman is delusional and has an unhealthy attachment towards her lover because she believes that her hair being pulled by her lover during their sleep is causing it to grow faster. It is hinted that their love or nights spent together are forbidden since they only have some night where they are allowed to sleep together, and the woman might be a mistress of this man or is not married to him. The pains from the pulling of the hair are the pains she feels when this relationship is being pulled apart. The only things that hold them together is her fixation on the man and her

There were many things that happened in the Scotland city that influenced Stevenson to write one of his best works, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. A lifetime of scattered events all played roles in the forming classic novella (Stefan 212). Stevenson was a single child who was much adored by his parents, Thomas Stevenson and Margaret Balfour. Stevenson s mother had a respiratory disease which was also inherited by her son. The family hired a private nurse to assist them. The nurse, Allison Cunningham, would often read to Robert in the morning during his unpleasant coughing spells. Many of the stories Cunningham read were about hell and damnation. These frightening tales would cause Robert to have numerous nightmares (Stefan 215). The nightmares tormented Robert into his adulthood. Growing up its always been girls and boys could only participate and play with certain things. It was normally like girls would only be able to play with all the girly things while boys have play with all the boythings. Then, you have the perception where females have to only take part in the feminine activities. It was strong stereotypes were girls was only allowed to be cheerleaders, dancers, writers and poets. While on another hand boys are the basketball, football and soccer players. The same way goes for the academics where better at reading and writing while the boys are better at numbers and chemicals. Majority of these stereotypes are not even legit especially when it comes to the academics. For example college wasn t the most relevant thing for a female to take interest in at one point in life. It was like college for females wasn t the most realistic thing. Mainly you would hear a male going off to college instead. Rather than a female attending college, females didn t started attending college until the late 1800s early 1900s. By then you started hearing more females attending campus. • 13. Applying Medical Procedures For Breast Cancer ABSTRACT Medical diagnostic system is a branch in bioinformatics that is concerned with classifying medical records. Breast cancer is the most common deployed cancer in females worldwide. The main obstacle is the vagueness and ambiguity involving the breast cancer data. Human nature handles the vagueness and ambiguity easily. Therefore, doctors diagnose the patient condition using their expertise. Fuzziness and rough boundary theories simulate the human thinking. The fuzzy rough hybrids address the uncertainty in terms of membership degree of truth and lower and upper boundaries of fuzzy rough set theory. This research solves the diagnostic breast cancer problems via a proposed hybrid model of fuzzy rough feature selection and rough neural networks. The medical data is preprocessed by the fuzzy rough feature selection algorithm to remove unnecessary attributes. The reduced data set is applied to the rough neural network to learn the connection weights iteratively. The test data set are used to measure the proposed model accuracy and time complexities. Lower and upper approximations of the input features are weighted by input synapses learnt through training phase. The fuzzy rough proposed model design and implementation are declared. The experiments used WDBC and WPBC data sets from the UCI machine learning repository. The experimental results proved the fuzzy rough model ability to classify new instances compared with the conventional neural network. Keywords:Data Mining,

It was a comfortable temperature outside, so I decided to take my fall jacket off because I did not want to be too hot as I was walking around the market. I m estimating that it was approximately mid to low 20 s in temperature today, so whenever a breeze arose, it was refreshing because it was pretty warm outside. I decided that today I would take a walk through the dessert sections of the market before going to sit by the outdoor firepit. There were many vendors selling fudge and pastries, so this was something I purchased because I was heading home that afternoon and I thought my family would enjoy these treats. The firepit was not turned on today because it was fairly warm outside, but I still decided to sit in one of the Adirondack chairs surrounding the firepit to take in everything that was happening around me. It was very busy at the market around this time because it was the weekend, and everybody was taking the opportunity to spend time with their families outside on the warm fall day. I also noticed an older man performing a compilation of folk songs on the guitar, and a small group of people huddled around the area listening to him perform. I started to become restless after sitting in the chair for about ten minutes, so I decided to continue walking to one of the buildings at the farmer s market. This simulates how one would remember things in a train of thought. The structure also suggests the order of how one suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder would interpret trying to deal with memory and emotion. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue? Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. As the usage increases, the emissions from the exhaust gases also increases which affects the atmosphere, thereby causing environmental issues such as global warming, smog and even acid rain. These emissions are mainly due to non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of Nitrogen and impurities in the fuel and air mixture. Major emissions include Oxides of Nitrogen, Oxides of Sulphur, unburnt Hydrocarbons, oxides of carbon and other carbon particles or soot. After studying these ownership structures, I would like to give you my advice and hear from your considerations. Comparison between Ownership Structures In a sole trader structure, the owner keeps all the profit since he provides all capital for the business. A partnership structured business shares its revenue with every single partner under the calculations. However, it might be beneficial because splitting up the revenue means that tax payment will also be shared (Department of State Growth [DSG] 2015 a). While some events have obvious causes, other events must be analyzed to find their true impetus. One complicated era from history that has a debatable cause is Apartheid. While some historians cite complex causes for Apartheid, most people in the general public simply believe racism was the root of the institution. While racism did factor into later practices of Apartheid, racism was merely a byproduct of the social and cultural effects of the institution. When evidence is examined, the real cause of Apartheid becomes obvious. This era of South African history was not simply based on social practices such as racism; Apartheid was rooted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Afrikaners formed a separate linguistic and cultural identity that included a set of religious beliefs that shaped their worldview. These developments not only separated Afrikaners from native Africans ethnically, but also provided a template from which nationalist beliefs were based. This connection between the cultural identity of Afrikaners and their nationalist ideology is found in the events that occurred shortly after Great Britain annexed South Africa. Afrikaners believed that the British would undermine the culture that had developed among Afrikaners by supporting the mixing of Afrikaner and native cultures. In response to this threat to their ethnic identity, Afrikaners created numerous political parties that advocated both a separate culture and country for Afrikaners. Drawing upon the reformed theology of Afrikaners, political organizations such as the Afrikaner Broederbond claimed that, ...God intended for each nation to develop separately...moreover, God had specifically created the Afrikaner nation as His chosen people to fulfill a divine destiny in southern Africa (Beck, 2000, p. 111). Using a religious belief from the Afrikaner culture, political parties were able build a nationalism that promoted the segregationist agenda that would later be used for justifying Apartheid. So, Apartheid was not racist institution, it was merely a product of the nationalist belief that the Afrikaner people had the right to develop as a

Alan Paton, writer of Cry, The Beloved Country, illustrates the loss of humanity because of apartheid throughout the novel. However, one topic left unaddressed in Cry, The Beloved Country is the underlying issue of genderinequality in apartheid South Africa. Women s inferiority to men is illustrated through the service oriented roles that characters such as Ms. Lithebe and Mrs. Kumalo portray throughout the novel, as opposed to the authoritative positions that most men in the novel hold. Women like Absalom s wife (the pregnant girl) and Gertrude also fall to the superiority of men but on a different level, forced into sexualized roles for survival after their husbands/boyfriends leave them. I am not saying these things did not exist in previous years, but they have manifested into a monster that cannot be stopped. Everywhere you go you can probably count on one hand how many people you see not on their phones. The issues I stated are mainly related to the internet, television, and social media. There are more cons about the internet, TV, and social media than there are pros. Some cons are delayed child development, long term mental disorders, cyberbullying, and suicide, while pros are easy to access to articles and news, communicating, the convenience of having the world at your fingertips. With privileges provided by internet, social media, and TV comes responsibility, and many people don t understand the consequences of one harsh comment, hours of watching TV, and reading false facts on the internet. Limiting screen time would drastically change the mental and physical effects on humans. The first major social media surge was in the early 2000 s. MySpace set the foundation for the media controlled world that we live in today. Facebook and Twitter began around the year 2005. Today there are over one billion people on Facebook and 330 million active users on Twitter. It is estimated that 81% of the world s population has social media; that is approximately two billion people more worried about their phones than about what is happening around them. Children

A Correlation Between Emotion Focused Coping With Test Anxiety And Age Motivation can come from a variety of factors in an individual s life, stress is one of those factors that can have either a positive or a negative effect (Deckers, 2014; Heiman, 2004). Stress can appear in an individual through physiological, psychological and behavioural symptoms (Deckers, 2014). Deckers (2014) conveys that when an individual has a physiological response to stress, it is the product of hormones creating the symptom in the body, for example, nausea or sweating. In addition the psychological symptoms representing stress are identified through the level of stability of an individual s mind and feelings, and can be rated through measures of anxiousness, nervousness, self confidence, irritability or negativity of emotions (Deckers, 2014). Behavioural symptoms of stress can be enacted out by an individual through excessive or dysfunctional conduct, for example, through an increase in consumption of alcohol or caffeine, an intake of drugs, or poor sleeping habits (Deckers, 2014). Although the symptoms mentioned have an attached negative stigma, it does not necessarily follow that all encounters with it will result in negativity. Deckers (2014) explains that stress can be a motivator to a goal: if a problem arises in the pursuit of the goal, stress can occur, then an individual could be encouraged to overcome the situation to achieve their goal through coping. The following study Foam Rolling for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and Recovery of Dynamic Performance Measures performed by Pearcey et.al studied the effectiveness of foam rolling on decreasing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). DOMS can contribute greatly to the discomfort that a physically active person experiences after an intense workout. According to Pearcey et. al (2015) the intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post exercise, peaks between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears in five to seven days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early twenties. The study used a repeated measure design method to test the effectiveness of foam rolling the muscles of the lower extremities. The study tested the following variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads, thirty meter sprint speed, broad jump distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength endurance after preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All participants in the study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions were separated by four weeks; the sessions were randomly assigned to the participants. The testing sessions included an orientation with 1RM squat and practice of each test, followed by four conditions four weeks apart. The participants warmed up on the cycle ergometer then completed the DOMS protocol. Data was analyzed using magnitude based inferences. Baker et.al

In life s ups and down , tears are the closest and most loyal to the heart . When one is melancholic , s/he cries , and when one is jovial , s/he cries too . However , some people consider shedding tears is exclusive for women , who are modest , compassionate , sensitive , soft , nurturing , intuitive , sentimental , docile , inconclusive and emotional but prohibited on men who are supposed to be aggressive , sturdy , rational , emotionally detached , power loving and focused on potential and authority . On the contrary , an opposing party interferes , protesting and defending mans natural right to express his feelings . Throughout history , men s cryinghas always been a controversy , but quite the majority of people males , females , specialists and religious people acknowledge shedding tearsas the most natural phase of man s face expressions that reveal strength , sentiment , love and respect . The ability to accept men s crying has varied between different periods in history . To begin , the Bible is full of weeping . For example , Joseph burst into tears several times , in which his tears were tears of rage , tears of pain and tears of sensitivity , .. his sobs were so loud that the Egyptians could hear. Moreover , among Greek Heroes , tears were lavish, such as Achilles in The Illiad . In medieval Europe , the elite would conceal their emotions because they felt forced to do so , but this

Will Hunting Psychology Disorder The main character of this film was Will Hunting, a young man from South Boston who grew up in the foster system and was portrayed to be of low social economic status. Regardless of Hunting s background he was remarkably intelligent, he explained it as similar to the way Beethoven could naturally plan a piano. There was never and official diagnosis given for Hunting s condition but there were symptoms that pointed towards anxiety and borderline personality disorder. The most distinct symptom I noticed for anxiety was during a session with Sean his therapist. Hunting was talking about a job that was offered to him by the government dealing with code breaking. Hunting created a scenario in which breaking a code would cause the death of one of his buddies , a raise in gas prices, war and oil spills.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hunting showed many of the symptoms of borderline personality disorder including mood swings, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, impulsive behavior, and anger. These symptoms were very clearly shown throughout the entire film and many were also pointed out by Sean. A scene where the viewer saw most all of Hunting s symptoms was the scene when Skylar asked Hunting to go to California with her. He creates a scenario that if he would to go to California with Skylar she would find something out that she doesn t like about him, abandon him and he would be stuck in California. He becomes angry and aggressive towards Skylar yelling at her and pushing her. Finally, when she asks him if he loves her Hunting says no even though he truly does. This is because of his self destructive behavior and inability to have stable

It is a POSIX compliant with versions available to install in cell phones, supercomputers and most computing systems [1]. Linux is an open source program as its source code is available to the general public for use and the right to modify from its original design without any charges [1]. New code will be added to the next version made available with Linuxif it is accepted as a universal improvement [1]. The code will continue to exist and developed by the user even if the company fails [1]. Moreover, updates for Linux are available every six months [1]. This is because Linus was bitten by a penguin on his visit to the National Zoo Aquarium at Canberra [2]. However, an original draft of today s well known mascot had been provided by Larry Ewing based of this description [2]. There are advantages and disadvantages of Linux operating system. The first advantages of Linux operating system is it is free to obtain [3]. Unlike Microsoft, Linux distribution can be installed on more than one computer without any cost charged [3]. Besides that, Linux can run perfect on old computers and enable users to browse the Internet, email, play games, create and edit documents and others [3]. In security aspect, Linux is much stronger than Windows. This is because Linux uses smart authorization management [5], which requires user to authorize any action that might harm their computer by entering the password [5]. By this way, users are less likely to be tricked into installing malware and running virus programs [5]. In addition, if user faces any technical problem, they can visit any of the Linux online forums and post the
  • 47. Persuasive Essay On Athletes Somewhere at this very moment someone is arguing and complaining about the unfair and unequal society. One of those unfair situations is the salaries among professional athletes and how their bank accounts are filling up with enormous paychecks. Athletes are active workers just like others, they go to work and they perform. What happens if they do not perform? They will get fired. So just because athletes work with what they are meant to do does not give the right to complain about how unfair life is. Almost everyone has the opportunity to choose their own path, whether it is to be a professional athlete, salesman or a plumber. Athletes choose their way of life, and just because of individual failures or different careers the blame is put on athletes and their work. Now that is unfair and unequal Everyone can throw a ball into a basket, kick a ball into the net, or shoot a puck into a goal. How is it that athletes run around on a field and earn millions of dollars, while a doctor that saves lives earn hundreds of thousands of dollars less? That s easy, they do not have that talent. The best basketball player in the history of the game, Michael Jordan played in the NBA for 15 seasons where he compiled 1,072 games whereof 1,039 from start. Reed1: This study examined age differences in eyewitness testimony. Children, three and six years of age, and adults interacted with an unfamiliar man for 5 minutes. Four or five days later, the witnesses answered objective and suggestive questions, recalled what happened, and tried to identify the confederate from a target present photo line up. The adults and 6 year olds did not differ in their ability to answer objective questions or identify the confederate, but 6 year olds were more suggestible than adults and recalled less about the event. Compared to the older age groups, the 3 year olds answered fewer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a further discussion of recent legal trends concerning child witnesses, see Bulkley (1983), Goodman (1984), and Whitcomb, Shapiro, and Stellwagen (1985). AGE DIFFERENCES 319 Psychological Issues Research on child witnesses dates back to the turn of the century (Binet, 1900; Pear Wyatt, 1914; Stern, 1910; Varendonck, 1911; Whipple, 1909, 1911, 1912, 1913; See Goodman, 1984a and Yarmey, 1984, for reviews). Many at that time concluded that children are less accurate witnesses than adults, but methodological flaws r e n d e r the findings of most of these studies questionable (Goodman, 1984a). There is now reason to believe that children will not always be less accurate witnesses than adults. Current theoretical perspectives on memory development propose that children s familiarity with domains of information can have profound effects on memory development (Brown, 1979; Chi, 1976, 1978; Fischer, 1980; Mandler, 1984; Nelson, 1983). Children s early mental organizations of the world are likely to concern familiar real life events (Nelson, 1983), so children s memory for them should be better than one would expect based on studies of memory for taxonomic categories, scientific demonstrations, or other types of information less familiar to children. To the extent that a witnessed event falls within the realm of children s understanding and experience, children may in many ways be
