- 3. Water pollutionon Tenerife Tenerife, like other Canary Islands, does not have high levels of atmospheric pollution, due to the small number of factories and industrial plants on the one hand. According to official data, Tenerife is one of the places in Spain with the lowestpollution rate.

Pollution from atmospheric precipitation penetrates into groundwater, from whereit can penetrateinto surface water.
- 10. Communication routes and means of transport negatively affect the state of groundwater. This is because of lead compounds from exhaust gases and pollutants flushed off roads.
- 11. Industrialpollution The greatest threat to groundwater is pollution with sources in the industry and agricultural areas where the above-mentioned fertilizers and plant protection products are used. In turn, for land water, compounds from domestic waste, faeces and industrial sewage pose the greatest danger. Chemical agents in the form of synthetic detergents that do not undergo biological decomposition as well as mercury and lead compounds are extremely dangerous here, which results from the wide use of these metals in industry.
