Pansette As An Accomplice In The Case Of Martin Guerre
In Natalie Z. Davis reconstruction of Martin Guerre s famous case of identity theft, Guerre s eight year
absence allowed for Pansette to authentically impersonate him for three years. . However, following
his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being
an impostor, ultimately leading to his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande
and the Guerre family victims in the trial. Unlike the participants of the case, Davis does not conform
to the idea of Bertrande as a mere victim, but rather, an accomplice motivated by socioeconomic
status. Critics often question whether Davis interpretations trespass the boundaries of a historian. Yet,
in order to evaluate Davis as a historian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an accomplice, But the
obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so easily fooled, not even by a charmer
like Pansette. By the time she had received him in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as
any wife of Artigat would have agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman.
Either by explicit or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main
argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande and Martin during
their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible reason for her memory failure. Yet,
Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French
peasantry, including those of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more
than three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would not have
recognized him for a stranger... (Davis, 79). Contrary to the arguments of critics, Davis does not fail to
demonstrate historical proof for her assumptions, as it is important for history to take into account the
psychology of the

San Juan Del Rio Catholic School
CSJDR s Community Resources San Juan del Rio Catholic School (SJDR) is a parish within the
Diocese of St. Augustine. It is located in Saint John s County and in a rather affluent section. There are
many strengths of San Juan del Rio Catholic School but there are some weaknesses that need to be
addressed. One of the main things we need at San Juan del Rio is more activities and sports teams.
Our students are very competitive and play numerous sports are a part of many clubs outside of
school. They are also very involved in many activities which require travel throughout the year.
Having more activities and sports teams throughout the school year would ensure a variety of students
enrolling in our school and would meet the needs of the students at SJDR. After school programs
develop critical traits that prepare our students or adulthood while keeping them safe and entertained.
At San Juan del Rio, there are not as many programs and sports teams because the school has reached
its capacity when it comes to rooms and fields for the students to play. Money to construct more
buildings and fields is part of the reason why the school does not have more programs than it does.
After school programs serve communities of children and youth all across the United States, and
SJDR needs to be involved in this process. This would also fix the fact that the school is mostly
Caucasian, as it would allow new opportunities for all types of students. After school programs can

The Film M By Fritz Lang
We Are the Criminal
There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and
understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber. The
story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first meet the
character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which was left alone.
Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody seems to have their
own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to participate in the
manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court room in which they
plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these gangsters
are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the manhunt was
much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves into the premise of
the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the guards and destroyed a
huge amount of property in the process.
Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature
(pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong.
These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say that
the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to raise the
question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale silhouette
moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5). What he means
by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same as the everyday
criminals, these are somehow much worse.
There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He
starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he

Essay On Secret Service Agent
Like Sun Tzu once said Of all those in the commander none is more intimate than the secret agent, of
all rewards none more liberal than those given to secret agent: of all matter none is more confidential
than those relating to secret operation. The career of a Secret Service Agent is adroit and propitious,
because of the people in that field. The research will describe the career of a S.S.A, what is required to
become a successful person in life, and the impact this career has on society. The Secret Service
Division was created on July 5, 1865 in Washington, D.C., to suppress counterfeit currency. In the
middle of this career after President Mckinley was assassinated in 1901, the S.S.A began protecting
the U.S president around the clock. It was established by Abraham Lincoln on the same day he was
assassinated, the Secret Service has only been working at presidential inaugurations since 1885. For
the current today everything is still the same, except you they are really taking their jobs serious than
they did before. Some of the general duties as a S.S.A are presidential protection like vice presidents

Disadvantages Of Phonology
INTRODUCTION
In India the current scenario is changing very fast, it is absolutely critical that every child has the
fullest opportunities to become an accomplished reader. It is important that every member of society
should able to read and write. Without these skills, a person will have to face enormous social,
personal, and economic limitations in today s complex and information flooded world. In the current
situation, demands for accurate reading writing skills are greater now than at any previous time in
history.
Phonology, broadly speaking, is that sub discipline within linguistics concerned with the sounds of
language . More narrowly , phonology proper is concerned with the function, behaviour and
organisation of sounds as linguistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of reading development has different levels of phonological awareness within words:
syllables, onsets and rimes, and sounds. Good readers look for familiar letter patterns as one strategy
when attempting to decode or spell unfamiliar words they use familiar sound chunks from known
words, not just individual sounds (Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981). Thomas Gunning 1974
reported that students look for pronounceable word parts .This chunking / grouping of sounds makes
the reading and writing process much more effective and efficient. This letter pattern learning is based
on familiar syllable or rhyme patterns as well as sound clusters and individual sounds. This ability
helps child to find out inside words for syllables, rhymes, and individual sounds. Child has to
segment, blend, and manipulate syllables, onset and rime, and sounds of a particular word; this ability
makes the child successful in using letter sound knowledge effectively for reading and writing
(Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981; Maclean, Bryant, Bradley, 1987). The phonological
awareness skills of segmenting and blending are the most highly correlated with beginning reading
acquisition (Snow 192).
Students who may be at risk for reading difficulty often have poorer levels of phonological awareness
than others (Stanovitch Cunningham, Cramer, 1984). Although related, phonemic awareness is
different from auditory discrimination, phonetics, and phonics. The young child has the ability to
notice, mentally grab hold of, and manipulate different sound smallest chunks of speech (Hodges

Las Meninas Essay
Las Meninas is a painting by Diego Velazquez created in 1656. Diego Velazquez is recognized as a
leading Spanish Golden Age artist and the global attention enjoyed by this painting may be attributed
to his status. It is the enigmatic and complex composition of the Las Meninas that raised a lot of
questions in regards to its illusion and reality and gave rise to a debate about the uncertain
relationships between the figures that were depicted in the painting and the viewer. Because of these
artistic complexities, the painting has stood out as one of the most analyzed works of art in Western
painting. Since its creation, Las Meninas has earned recognition as one of the most significant
paintings in Western art history. Its representation of painting theology has led to it being titled a
genuine art of philosophy. In recent times, the painting has been described as the supreme
achievement of Diego Velazquez, considering that it came out as a highly calculated, self conscious
demonstration of what art could achieve. Las Meninas is a fascinating painting that brings together
non realism and realism. This essay will analyze and explore this painting ... Show more content on

This aspect has attracted different reactions from critics, with some claiming that this idea alludes to a
spiritual artist s component. Other critics, on the other hand, believe that Velazquez s intention was
simply to stand back from his easel to intend to clarify the subject matter. By including this in his
work, Velazquez manages to show the dignity of a painter as an artist. Velazquez not only
contemplates, but also goes ahead and acts. It is his aristocratic pose that reaffirms that the actual
creation of a piece of art is to simultaneously distinguish the mental and physical while creating the

Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro
3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate
the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government
could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was
subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill,
Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish
the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local
citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full
integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explains why they overwhelmingly support Lula and Dilma Rousseff in the current political and
economic crisis, unlike the rest of the population (Caulyt and Malkes 2016; Favela 247 2016).
However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the
Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover,
the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore
participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the
Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social.
They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not
want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the
misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the
change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account
when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could
describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the
organization of social events. For example, Mirian, Human

Raisin In The Sun Allusion
A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a novel about the life of a black family in Chicago after
World War II, took an allusion to A Dream Deferred, a poem by Langston Hughes. Therefore the
characters in the play and their dreams share similarities to the simile provided by Hughes. The simile
of a raisin in the sun (2) encounters with Beneatha Younger, a young college student, who dreams of
studying in a medical school but is criticized by her family. The dream seems aggravates the family
conflict, but it represents Beneatha s hope of helping the family.

The hope encounters with the simile, a raisin in the sun (2), which is dry on the surface but sweet in
the core. Beneatha s dislike the poor circumstances of her family and tries to solve it by going to a

She is no longer willing to suffer in poverty. She wants to contribute to the family and improve the
awkward circumstances, with the entire family living in a small apartment, by getting a well earning
job after graduating from medical school. The feeling of powerless and the struggle in life makes her
hates being poor. Beneatha also stops Ruth from giving birth to her new child. Ruth was pregnant, and
Beneatha tells her that it is not the best time to give birth to a new baby. She suggests that it will only
put pressure on the family: Where is he going to live? On the roof? (70, Hansberry).Although
Beneatha s suggestion sounds selfish and disrespectful to the baby, she is trying to think about the
problem from the family s position and suggests that it is not the right time to have a baby. Beneatha is
a character full of conflicts. Under the surface of conflict and argument with her family members, she
has a heart that cares about the family. She is a raisin in the sun who has a kind heart in her core, like

How Human Beings Can Conserve Primate As Valuable Species
Animals and human beings come into contact with each other in the different environment across the
world. This has been fostered by human settlement in most regions that were delegated for animals.
Whenever there is a contact between human and animals, there is a chance for the development of a
relationship. Although human beings are familiar with the interaction of companion animals like cats,
human animal interaction also occurs in the context of farms, laboratories and in the wilderness
(Davis, Schaffner, Smith 2005). Repeated relationship can lead to developing long term friendly
relationship between animals and human beings involved. Various studies have been developed in an
attempt of developing the most critical and rational measures that can be utilized to enhance and
develop a human animal relationship (Campbell, Shideler, Todd, Lasley 2001). These research studies
have in majority concentrated on domesticated species. This research paper is developed to critically
analyze the human primate relationship. The study critically is developed to show how human beings
can conserve primate as valuable species. The primate is used to refer to the group of mammals that
are intelligent and most developed in comparison to other animals. In the animal kingdom they are the
beings that are closest related to humans. Primate conservation has been one of the major concerns of
animal experts. The animals are intelligent and required great attention with a critical understanding

The Confederate Flag And Its Racist
One of the most trending topics in America right now is the Confederate Flag and whether or not it s
racist. 42 percent think the flag represent southern heritage and the other 42 percent think it s racist
and should be taken down. 75 percent believe it s racist and only one in ten will agree that it is
southern heritage. Depending on what region is asked about if it is racist, there are different answers.
The Midwest say it is racist and the south, of course, say it s not racist. A poll showed that African
Americans, Democrats, and the highly educated were more likely to perceive the flag negatively. The
Confederate States of America came into existence on February 4, 1861. It had six states at first and
they were the Deep South. Those states were South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Alabama
and Louisiana. After April 1861 four upper south states joined. They were Virginia, North Carolina,
Tennessee, and Arkansas. They made they re own court system and congress. It reflected a lot of the
American government. The confederate flag should be taken down because it is a symbol of hate,
rebellion and racism.
The first reason the Confederate flag should be taken down is because it is a symbol of hate. More
than 620,000 Americans lost their lives at the hands of other Americans. Nearly equal to the total
number of American deaths in all other wars combined. The fight for freedom for enslaved Black

The Importance Of Mangroves In Australia
Mangroves are trees and shrubs that can be found along coastal intertidal zones in tropical and
subtropical areas near the equator due to their inability to survive in low temperatures. Mangroves are
found not only in australia but on coastlines all over the world and are distributed over 100 countries
in the tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. Australia contains the third largest area of
mangroves in the world after Indonesia and Brazil, totalling around 11,500 km2 representing
approximately 6.4% of the world s total mangrove area (Appendix A) (Mangrovewatch.com, 2017).
There are 73 different types of mangrove species in the world. 39 of these mangrove species dwell in
Australia. The intertidal zone or littoral zone, is the area that is exposed at low tide but is submerged
by seawater during high tide. Mangroves survive in salt water on sheltered muddy shores, because
they have adapted to the harsh abiotic conditions in order to survive in their area. Mangroves also
provide a habitat for marine organisms such as fish, crabs and yabbies. Furthermore they provide a
habitat for many land animals such as birds, pythons, lizards and crocodiles. How mangroves
contribute to the functioning of intertidal ecosystems will be discussed on this report.
Mangroves have a very important role in their ecosystem. Their niche includes protecting and
providing for many organisms. Mangroves are considered main producers in their complex food
system (Appendix B). The food chain

Volatility Markets.
Introduction When the stock market goes up one day, and then goes down for the next five, then up
again, and then down again, that s what you call market volatility. Historically, the volatility of the
stock market is roughly 20% a year and 5.8% a month, but volatility keeps on changing, so we go
through periods of high volatility and low volatility. Analysts and experts have different opinions
about what you should do in volatile markets, and how to scope with stock market volatility or the

Social Inequality And Gender Inequality Essay
Social inequality is defined as the set of unequal opportunities for different social classes or statuses
for various individuals within a group or society. It usually refers to people of distinct genders, ages,
and ethnicities. Many American s have experienced some type of social inequality throughout their
lifetime. America s gaping inequality is seen everywhere from education to the workforce. Society
tends to oversee inequality based on race, gender, and other social characteristics . Americans believe
that racial discrimination no longer hinders or affects the advancement of minorities. Racial and ethnic
actions are still being taken towards minorities in education, employment, housing, arrests, and many
other issues of society. Social inequality and discrimination towards minorities is clear in everyday
society. This can be seen by the way inequality is still persistent among the social classes. Among
these classes formed by society, minorities tend to be one of the most affected. This is noticed by the
way education remains segregated, the wage inequality, and the constant cycle of poverty. Many have
used their voice to shine light on these issues, articles and authors such as Social Inequality and
Educational Disadvantage by the Russel Sage Foundation argue the lack of equal assortment of
resources between the rich and the poor is leaving them with the disparity of proper resources, and

Ethos Pathos Logos Persuasive Essay
Throughout history, literature, pictures, and speeches have been laced with modes of persuasion. In
modern society, thousands of advertisements are produced a day. Each one uses either ethos, pathos,
or logos to convince viewers to shift and support a certain belief. One field of advertisements that
relies heavily on pathos and ethos is the health field. The national anti smoking campaign
advertisement, below, uses blatant visuals and medical facts to make viewers understand how smoking
negatively impacts people s lives. The advertisement provides genuine effects that can occur from the
use of tobacco products. This is a use of logos, a rhetorical technique that uses reasoning and logic to

is loading cigarettes into a Colt 45 revolver. The visual puts the number of deaths caused by smoking
in the perspective by showing a weapon that people consider more dangerous. The average deaths in
the United States of America, each year, from the use of guns is over 100,000 people. However, the
use of cigarettes and similar tobacco products causes over 500,000 deaths in the United States, 50,000
of which have never directly smoked. The campaign is showing how there is not just one bullet
because the person directly smoking is not the only one affected. Every person who comes into
contact with the second hand smoke produced by the smoker is also negatively affected.
Unfortunately, those exposed to secondhand smoke make up about 10% of all smoking related deaths.
By using the loaded gun as a metaphor, the advertisement is stating that smoking is not only suicide
but murder. The only real difference is that smoking takes much longer than a bullet. The allows the

The Art Cinema As A Mode Of Film Essay
Article Three Author: David Bordwell / Title of Article: The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film Bordwell,
D. (1979). The art cinema as a mode of film practice. Film Criticism, 4(1), 56 64. David Bordwell
wrote his article The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film in an effort to convey the main idea that art
cinema can be considered as a distinct mode of film practice, through its definite historical existence
alongside other cinematic modes, set of formal conventions, and implicit viewing procedures. Rather
than searching for the source of the art, or what drives the art in film, Bordwell compares art cinema to
the classical narrative cinema, and highlights the differences in narrative structure. Bordwell makes
the assumption that it defined itself against the classical narrative mode; especially with the way it
deals with space, time, and the cause and effect link of events. To support this idea, Bordwell
illustrates how art cinema motivates its narratives differently, through two principles: realism and
authorial expressivity. Firstly he proposes the notion that art films reflect realism in their characters,
space, and time. Psychologically complex characters are present in real worlds dealing with true to life
situations. Art cinema is concerned with the characters reaction to these situations, rather than their
action . Thus it bares an element of psychological subjectivity as the characters survey the world they
are in, which aids the realisation of the distress of

Essay about Heart of Darkness
The Real Heart Of Darkness
Heart of Darkness is not only the title of Joseph Conrad s novella, it is also a main theme. This is
portrayed through different images of darkness, black and evil throughout his story. The setting is
often used with images of darkness; even as Marlow tells his tale, it is night. This darkness is inside
many concepts of the novella such as Africa, women, black people, maps, the ivory trade corporation
and Kurtz. Through these images on his journey, Marlow has a realization about the inner darkness of
man, and thus brings out the theme, and title, Heart Of Darkness.
At the time, the Europeans often referred to Africa as the Dark Continent . This is the main setting of
Marlow s story and his destination is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The journey he takes down the river into Africa is symbolic of a journey into ones soul, to the center
of darkness in mans heart. The darkness of the soul becomes more and more apparent to Marlow as
the crew goes deeper into Africa. This is because they start to feel more isolated and Marlow has the
opportunity to see a clear vision of himself.
As Marlow begins to realize the darkness within man s soul, he feels that women are too weak to face
this world he sees. They the women, I mean are out of it should be out of it. We must help them to stay
in that beautiful world of their own, lest ours gets worse. (p.376) Marlow feels that the women should
not be allowed to see the darkness, as they are too weak and fragile to face the truth, and he believes
they should continue to live in their own world. Marlow even lies to Kurtz s Intended, telling her the
last thing Kurtz said was her name, because the real truth was to dark to tell.
However, women are not the only people in this novella used to symbolize darkness; black people are
also exercised as an image of darkness. Conrad uses the darkness of their skin in comparison to the
white people s skin. Darkness is used to represent barbarism, savages and evil while white represents
all that is good. This black and white comparison also becomes apparent when the white string on a
black person is pointed out in detail, He had tied a bit of white worsted round his neck Why? Where

Changing A Little At A Time
Chapter 3: Changing a Little at a Time (Make a Difference)
If you won a million dollars what would you do? This is a common question people often ask. The
common response is going on vacation, buy a nice car, etc. But we often hear the response of giving to
charity and making a difference in the world. I am the same way. If I had a million dollars I would
want to make a difference in the world and give a lot of it to charity. The reality of me winning a
million dollars is extremely slim. However, I can still accomplish my goal, to make a difference, no
matter how much money I have. I have decided that in my own community I can make a difference

either spend four months in Costa Rica and accomplish my dream of making a difference in a foreign
country, or I could get married to the man of my dreams. It was a very hard decision to make. It
brought me many sleepless nights, and in the end, I knew I needed to marry this boy and use the
money I had saved up for Costa Rica to help with wedding and future plans. It was devastating. But it
was eye opening. From that moment on, I knew I didn t need to go to some foreign land to make a

Hinduism, Islam, And Hinduism Essay
Introduction
Religious activities have diversified across the world in the recent past. These activities are often
based on the beliefs of particular groups of people that are often geared toward upholding the social
graces that make a society prosper. Each religion has its unique features that differentiate it from other
religions across the world. The beliefs and practices of various religions often follow a set of
principles laid by the founders of that religion. In most cases, these principles often have a primary
theme that they tend to support. The major religions that are practiced b many people across the world
are Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. The three religions are practiced in different parts of the world
depending on the beliefs of the population in a particular part of the world. Hinduism is a religion that
is dominant in South Asia. In particular, the Hindu religion is mostly practiced in India than in other

True American Values
What are Americans? Nowadays when people think of Americans they think of a trendy and lazy
group of people. However many people still believe that a true American is not that at all. Many
people still show the values this country was built on. Those are freedom of speech, family, and the
right to control your destiny. The Freedom of speech is one of the most important things involved with
being an American. Freedom of speech is probably one of the most well know rights that American
citizens have. Natural Americans do not know how great of a right this is. I met a girl from cuba a
while back and I asked her what she loved most about America she responded with saying I can say
what I want without fear of the Government. This right is what ... Show more content on

To control your destiny is what many Americans do to control their life everyday is the U.S. If
Americans want to go to college to pursue education that can help them in their future career then they
can, but they if the person does not want to go to college to pursue any more education then the person
does not have too. The only thing you need in America to control your destiny is money. However
people can open a business or get a job without having the government telling the person what to do.
In the U.S. there are many millionaires and billionaires and one of the those people is Bill Gates. Bill
Gates went from nothing to something by building microsoft. The founders founded this Country
because they were tired of the King of England telling them what to do and taxing them so much. That
is what controlling your destiny is about, freedom. This is not freedom that is just thought about, this
is a tangible freedom. Everybody that lives in America uses this freedom daily. That is what makes a
true American, the right to go boom or bust, to make what the person wants from their

Zebrafish Experiment
Introduction
Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are a popular freshwater fish that have been modified by researchers to
produce several transgenic strains. The strain of transgenic zebrafish that express fluorescent colors
have been given the name Glofish, for they contain different fluorescent proteins such as Green
Fluorescent Protein (GFP), Red Fluorescent Protein (RFP), Yellow Fluorescent Protein (YFP), Blue
Fluorescent Protein (BFP), or Purple Fluorescent Protein (PFP) (Vick, B. M., A. Pollak, C. Welsh, J.
O. Liang, 2012). There are several benefits of using Glofish as a model to portray and understand
inheritance patterns of transgenic genes. Glofish are small size in size, produce a high number of
progeny, have similar genetic control to humans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phenotypes pertaining to fins, fin length, and color were observed. Only a few phenotypes, such as fin
length and presence of specific fluorescent proteins, were decided on to be important in understanding
the genetics (Biology 2202 Genetics Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015).
Fishes with these phenotypes were counted and recorded.
Generating Hypotheses
Numbers of the wild type and transgenic fish were compared. Type of transgenes and type of
inheritance were hypothesized based on the patterns seen in the offspring. Using that information can
help determine the parent genotypes and thus determine a final inheritance pattern. A null hypothesis
was then formed relative to the genes and inheritance pattern of each tank (Biology 2202 Genetics
Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015).
Data Analysis
Hypothesis were generated by comparing the phenotypes of each tank. The hypothesis included the
ratio and expected inheritance pattern, and that any difference is due to chance. Using the information
collected based on the genotypes of the parents and the formed hypothesis, the expected value for each
phenotype were calculated and recorded. A chi square test was used to determine the P value and
conclude the generated

The Story of My Hallucinations
I find myself lying in bed, drifting ever so closely to sleep. My body slowly numbs into a more rested
state. Abruptly, I am awakened by an incredible force that is pinning my entire body down at once. It
is overwhelmingly strong. My limbs wildly try to fight back only to find themselves powerless to this
unseen...something...what it is I am unsure. I am physically unable to move a muscle. I try to scream.
The noise won t come. I try to scream louder. Still nothing. The more I try to push it off it pushes
down harder and harder on me. I am unnerved by the fact that I see nothing causing this intense
pressure. I feel breathless. I wonder if I ve officially lost my mind. Helplessly, I begin to realize there
is nothing I can do to stop this from happening. I give in, accepting defeat. Slowly now the force
begins to recede. I find myself making weird babbling noises, grabbing deliriously at my pillows and
blankets. I slowly regain control of my muscle movements. And there I am. Still lying in my bed. Yet
now I lay terrified, confused, and unsure of what just came over me. I was 16 years old the first time it
ever happened to me. It has happened to me countless times since, each time slightly different. Not
having control over your body due to a force unseen is a bone chilling feeling. Nonetheless, I have
recently discovered that there is in fact a worldly explanation for these episodes I have grown to fear
over the years. Now, due to a greater understanding of the sleeping

Local Control Research Paper
Claudia DeSantiago 0154743 Who Has Control Spring 2017 Government 2306 73434 May 1, 2017
United States fought England to gain its liberty from the ruling of the King that was living in England
and had no idea how the new world was coming around. A democratic government was formed with
so it gives the opportunity to us to choose and have a representative in the wonderful world on the
congressional body we all know and love. Even with all the balance and checks government has there
are still some confusion and the constitution leaves a lot of open gaps for change and accommodation
in many areas of government. Texas has state government and then local control from cities also
comes in to play.
Local control, has become beneficial in a sense. For instance, having education managed by the
people of the city who deal on the daily basis with it, is a great way to describe a form of local control.
The congressmen are more likely not to have a degree on education, therefor their input, with all
respect is not high priority or as valuable. 1 The concept of local control is grounded in a philosophy
of government premised on the belief that the individuals and institutions closest to the students and
most knowledgeable about a school and most invested in the welfare and success of its educators,
students, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

closer to home, we can attend city council meeting and try to make our cities and education for our

more accessible, state always can have the final say so, if they decide to get involved, that is why it is

Ancient China Compass
CIA Summative
Compass
There are four major inventions in Ancient China and the Compass is one of them. The compass show
it s changes through culture over time by how it looks. A traditional chinese compass is made by
lodestone, it is a mineral which automatically straightens it self to the magnetic field around it. This
one originally had a spoon in the middle to help point out. The base is made out of bronze. So the base
would be the earth and the circle in the middle would be heaven. The spoon would always point south.
Now it s a circular device. Fun fact is that the compass works on the magnetic poles which isn t the
same with geographical poles. This tells us that compasses point only at magnetic north, not the true
north. The compass helped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where before you see saris (Indian), or Tunic (China), or Batik (Indonesia) now you see just pants and
shirt. Our society has a tendency to judge people by what they wear. Which has caused low self
esteem, resulting the change. Through out the years, different culture are spread across the world,
making other countries be less strict about the clothing their country wears. Also people who study,
work, or go abroad, bring other cultures with them when they return home. There is also an other way
how this happened. When people aren t so comfortable in what their wearing, it might be because they
want to do other things, and their clothing is blocking them. For example, women wanted to cycle, but
they can do that with long robes, thus came the pants. Others can be when going into battle, you can t
just wear silk, you need armor and ease in movement. Now, what makes it even more expanded is
because, famous actors, or celebrities wear these kind of clothing s. This sends a message to society to
be like them. We have adapted, made new inventions, and discoveries. We changed our way in living

Snow Falling On Cedars And Snow Falling On Cedars
Becoming the Bridge Between Two Worlds Second generation immigrants are often forced to become
the bridge between two worlds, as their foreign parents hold on to cultural ties and traditions, while
the children grow up in a Western society with contrasting ways of life. The works the End of East by
Jen Sookfong Lee and the film Snow Falling on Cedars, directed by Scott Hicks, prove that a struggle
for identity can be overcome if one overlooks the dissimilarities between two cultures. As seen in both
works, the writers demonstrate how second generation immigrants are faced with the challenge of
finding their identities, as they feel torn between their cultural practices and the influences of their
Western upbringings; However, only after setting aside the differences that clash the two cultures are
they truly able to find a balance between the two and discover who they are. Firstly, both the End of
East and Snow Falling on Cedars involve second generation immigrant protagonists in North America
that struggle to keep their parents happy and preserve their culture, while continuing to live their lives
as individuals of the West. Hatsue, a Japanese American girl in Snow Falling on Cedars, grows up in
the West. Despite being brought up in North America, she is well aware that her mother strongly
believes in preserving the Japanese culture. Hatsue s mother wishes for Hatsue to honour their
traditional Japanese ways, and encourages her to marry one of [her] own kind and stay

The Ambiguity Of The Iconic
This essay will explore the ambiguity of the Iconic, what does it stand for in the modern world of
architecture and how does it originate. The obsession of architecture with this term is slowly taking
over; architects strive towards creating Iconic buildings as a way to gain fame. How does one design
an Iconic building and what does it imply when placed within a particular context? We will explore
this through a particular architectural project of the church of San Giovanni Battista under Florence,
an icon which never really succeeded in achieving its purpose and yet contains some of the very
fundamental and curcial ideas about the Iconic which I want to express in this essay. Why does one
building (such as the Eiffel tower or London Gherkin)become symbolic for a city while other attempt
to replicate this phenomenon fail? And most importantly what role does the context (as a city
morphology or natural habitat) play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which can be seen protruding right underneath the tilted buttress. It is a set of concrete blocks that
suspend the bells of the church. This decision defies the original meaning of church bells. The element
seizes to act as a highlight point of a tower, that used to be the case in many churches including
Russian orthodox and Italian Catholic architecture, where the bell tower always stoodabove the rest of
the structure and the surrounding. Thus bearing symbolic and practical value. In the church of the
highway however, the bells are beneath the weight of architecture, hidden by the concrete slabs. This
furthermore reinforces Michelucci s idea of creating an icon of speed: architecture that is not meant to
become a centre of a town or unifying element of society, but rather a glimpse of a flash. The bells are
no more needed to spread the sound over long distance, which was the case in a city, and therefore
lose their original significance. Instead the bells transform into a purely technical

The Human Good Analysis
When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an
even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in
modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person
comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible
danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to
face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society
must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for
whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no
one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to
yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination
is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are
stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she
feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people
from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs,
and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the
progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like
Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I
interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have
been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot
closer towards being

A Family Affair In The King James Bible
A Family Affair
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life; and man became a living soul. ... And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he
a woman, and brought her unto the man (King James Bible. Genesis. 2. 7 22). And so, God created the
first family of many. While Adam and Eve had an idyllic relationship in the Garden of Eden, not all
families can boast of a two parent household with a loving family dynamic. Both within the King
James Bible, within other novels, and even within real life, each family has a different way of living
and dealing with the situations that arise to try to tear them apart. Quite often, connections can be
found between the everyday life of characters in novels, and the lives of those that are written into the
Bible, to be forever remembered. Sibling arguments, not respecting thy father and mother, and
transiency are a few of many ways the Bible can be used to understand what is occurring in the lives
and families of the characters.
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain and said, I have gotten a man from
the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller
of the ground (Genesis. 4. 1 2). Cain and Abel were the first siblings in the story of Genesis, as Ruthie
and Lucille are the first siblings to live in the house their grandfather built for a very long time. Ruthie

I am not here to benefit the hearing people by speaking. But if a hearing person tells me but you know
I have a deaf friend who says speech is better. That one deaf person does not represent the whole Deaf
community. Each of you represent something, each of you have a story to tell, each of you have a
background, we need to listen to each of you. We cannot say when one has a friend who is Deaf Blind
and make assumptions on what this person needs. We must listen to a person and provide the
necessary accommodations based on this person s needs. Community Collective means all including
people of color, disabled, Deaf blind, all of them. It begins with LAL, that is, listening for
understanding with love. You may become defensive but you cannot listen and say wait. You must
listen to understand in order to love the process itself. Sometimes people will disagree with you. For
example, I have a dialogue with the KKK, do I like it? no, but I need to understand why. I don t have
to agree with them. In a strange way, I do understand KKK because the KKK members were taught
that way by their families and they want to be accepted by their families. It s human nature. Do I like

Two Point Threshold Lab Report
In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the
skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger,
forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation
mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure,
which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of
skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. There are four types
of mechanoreceptors: Merkel complexes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not
vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the
participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter
accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused
the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third
forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as
it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in
fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this
experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a
dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the
timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that
the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points
throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber.
With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus
onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to
standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. It may also be
helpful to eliminate the variable of temperature of the caliber to the best of one s ability. As a
continuation of this study, it may strike the experimenter as intriguing to add a variable such as

  • 2. Pansette As An Accomplice In The Case Of Martin Guerre In Natalie Z. Davis reconstruction of Martin Guerre s famous case of identity theft, Guerre s eight year absence allowed for Pansette to authentically impersonate him for three years. . However, following his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being an impostor, ultimately leading to his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande and the Guerre family victims in the trial. Unlike the participants of the case, Davis does not conform to the idea of Bertrande as a mere victim, but rather, an accomplice motivated by socioeconomic status. Critics often question whether Davis interpretations trespass the boundaries of a historian. Yet, in order to evaluate Davis as a historian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an accomplice, But the obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so easily fooled, not even by a charmer like Pansette. By the time she had received him in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as any wife of Artigat would have agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman. Either by explicit or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande and Martin during their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible reason for her memory failure. Yet, Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French peasantry, including those of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more than three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would not have recognized him for a stranger... (Davis, 79). Contrary to the arguments of critics, Davis does not fail to demonstrate historical proof for her assumptions, as it is important for history to take into account the psychology of the ... • 3. San Juan Del Rio Catholic School CSJDR s Community Resources San Juan del Rio Catholic School (SJDR) is a parish within the Diocese of St. Augustine. It is located in Saint John s County and in a rather affluent section. There are many strengths of San Juan del Rio Catholic School but there are some weaknesses that need to be addressed. One of the main things we need at San Juan del Rio is more activities and sports teams. Our students are very competitive and play numerous sports are a part of many clubs outside of school. They are also very involved in many activities which require travel throughout the year. Having more activities and sports teams throughout the school year would ensure a variety of students enrolling in our school and would meet the needs of the students at SJDR. After school programs develop critical traits that prepare our students or adulthood while keeping them safe and entertained. At San Juan del Rio, there are not as many programs and sports teams because the school has reached its capacity when it comes to rooms and fields for the students to play. Money to construct more buildings and fields is part of the reason why the school does not have more programs than it does. After school programs serve communities of children and youth all across the United States, and SJDR needs to be involved in this process. This would also fix the fact that the school is mostly Caucasian, as it would allow new opportunities for all types of students. After school programs can help students ... • 4. The Film M By Fritz Lang We Are the Criminal There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber. The story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first meet the character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which was left alone. Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody seems to have their own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to participate in the manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court room in which they plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these gangsters are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the manhunt was much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves into the premise of the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the guards and destroyed a huge amount of property in the process. Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature (pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong. These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say that the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to raise the question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale silhouette moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5). What he means by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same as the everyday criminals, these are somehow much worse. There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Secret Service Agent Like Sun Tzu once said Of all those in the commander none is more intimate than the secret agent, of all rewards none more liberal than those given to secret agent: of all matter none is more confidential than those relating to secret operation. The career of a Secret Service Agent is adroit and propitious, because of the people in that field. The research will describe the career of a S.S.A, what is required to become a successful person in life, and the impact this career has on society. The Secret Service Division was created on July 5, 1865 in Washington, D.C., to suppress counterfeit currency. In the middle of this career after President Mckinley was assassinated in 1901, the S.S.A began protecting the U.S president around the clock. It was established by Abraham Lincoln on the same day he was assassinated, the Secret Service has only been working at presidential inaugurations since 1885. For the current today everything is still the same, except you they are really taking their jobs serious than they did before. • 6. Disadvantages Of Phonology INTRODUCTION In India the current scenario is changing very fast, it is absolutely critical that every child has the fullest opportunities to become an accomplished reader. It is important that every member of society should able to read and write. Without these skills, a person will have to face enormous social, personal, and economic limitations in today s complex and information flooded world. In the current situation, demands for accurate reading writing skills are greater now than at any previous time in history. The process of reading development has different levels of phonological awareness within words: syllables, onsets and rimes, and sounds. Good readers look for familiar letter patterns as one strategy when attempting to decode or spell unfamiliar words they use familiar sound chunks from known words, not just individual sounds (Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981). Thomas Gunning 1974 reported that students look for pronounceable word parts .This chunking / grouping of sounds makes the reading and writing process much more effective and efficient. This letter pattern learning is based on familiar syllable or rhyme patterns as well as sound clusters and individual sounds. This ability helps child to find out inside words for syllables, rhymes, and individual sounds. Child has to segment, blend, and manipulate syllables, onset and rime, and sounds of a particular word; this ability makes the child successful in using letter sound knowledge effectively for reading and writing (Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981; Maclean, Bryant, Bradley, 1987). The phonological awareness skills of segmenting and blending are the most highly correlated with beginning reading acquisition (Snow 192). Students who may be at risk for reading difficulty often have poorer levels of phonological awareness than others (Stanovitch Cunningham, Cramer, 1984). Although related, phonemic awareness is different from auditory discrimination, phonetics, and phonics. The young child has the ability to notice, mentally grab hold of, and manipulate different sound smallest chunks of speech (Hodges Harris, 1995; Tunmer, Herriman, Nesdale, 1988; Yaden Templeton, ... • 7. Las Meninas Essay Las Meninas is a painting by Diego Velazquez created in 1656. Diego Velazquez is recognized as a leading Spanish Golden Age artist and the global attention enjoyed by this painting may be attributed to his status. It is the enigmatic and complex composition of the Las Meninas that raised a lot of questions in regards to its illusion and reality and gave rise to a debate about the uncertain relationships between the figures that were depicted in the painting and the viewer. Because of these artistic complexities, the painting has stood out as one of the most analyzed works of art in Western painting. Since its creation, Las Meninas has earned recognition as one of the most significant paintings in Western art history. Its representation of painting theology has led to it being titled a genuine art of philosophy. In recent times, the painting has been described as the supreme achievement of Diego Velazquez, considering that it came out as a highly calculated, self conscious demonstration of what art could achieve. Las Meninas is a fascinating painting that brings together non realism and realism. This essay will analyze and explore this painting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This aspect has attracted different reactions from critics, with some claiming that this idea alludes to a spiritual artist s component. Other critics, on the other hand, believe that Velazquez s intention was simply to stand back from his easel to intend to clarify the subject matter. By including this in his work, Velazquez manages to show the dignity of a painter as an artist. Velazquez not only contemplates, but also goes ahead and acts. It is his aristocratic pose that reaffirms that the actual creation of a piece of art is to simultaneously distinguish the mental and physical while creating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro 3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill, Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... This explains why they overwhelmingly support Lula and Dilma Rousseff in the current political and economic crisis, unlike the rest of the population (Caulyt and Malkes 2016; Favela 247 2016). However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover, the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social. They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the organization of social events. Raisin In The Sun Allusion A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a novel about the life of a black family in Chicago after World War II, took an allusion to A Dream Deferred, a poem by Langston Hughes. Therefore the characters in the play and their dreams share similarities to the simile provided by Hughes. The simile of a raisin in the sun (2) encounters with Beneatha Younger, a young college student, who dreams of studying in a medical school but is criticized by her family. The feeling of powerless and the struggle in life makes her hates being poor. Beneatha also stops Ruth from giving birth to her new child. Ruth was pregnant, and Beneatha tells her that it is not the best time to give birth to a new baby. She suggests that it will only put pressure on the family: Where is he going to live? On the roof? • 10. How Human Beings Can Conserve Primate As Valuable Species Animals and human beings come into contact with each other in the different environment across the world. This has been fostered by human settlement in most regions that were delegated for animals. Whenever there is a contact between human and animals, there is a chance for the development of a relationship. Although human beings are familiar with the interaction of companion animals like cats, human animal interaction also occurs in the context of farms, laboratories and in the wilderness (Davis, Schaffner, Smith 2005). Repeated relationship can lead to developing long term friendly relationship between animals and human beings involved. Various studies have been developed in an attempt of developing the most critical and rational measures that can be utilized to enhance and develop a human animal relationship (Campbell, Shideler, Todd, Lasley 2001). These research studies have in majority concentrated on domesticated species. This research paper is developed to critically analyze the human primate relationship. The Confederate Flag And Its Racist One of the most trending topics in America right now is the Confederate Flag and whether or not it s racist. 42 percent think the flag represent southern heritage and the other 42 percent think it s racist and should be taken down. 75 percent believe it s racist and only one in ten will agree that it is southern heritage. Depending on what region is asked about if it is racist, there are different answers. The Midwest say it is racist and the south, of course, say it s not racist. A poll showed that African Americans, Democrats, and the highly educated were more likely to perceive the flag negatively. The Confederate States of America came into existence on February 4, 1861. It had six states at first and they were the Deep South. Those states were South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana. After April 1861 four upper south states joined. They were Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas. They made they re own court system and congress. It reflected a lot of the American government. The confederate flag should be taken down because it is a symbol of hate, rebellion and racism. The first reason the Confederate flag should be taken down is because it is a symbol of hate. The Importance Of Mangroves In Australia Mangroves are trees and shrubs that can be found along coastal intertidal zones in tropical and subtropical areas near the equator due to their inability to survive in low temperatures. Mangroves are found not only in australia but on coastlines all over the world and are distributed over 100 countries in the tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. Australia contains the third largest area of mangroves in the world after Indonesia and Brazil, totalling around 11,500 km2 representing approximately 6.4% of the world s total mangrove area (Appendix A) (Mangrovewatch.com, 2017). There are 73 different types of mangrove species in the world. 39 of these mangrove species dwell in Australia. The intertidal zone or littoral zone, is the area that is exposed at low tide but is submerged by seawater during high tide. Mangroves survive in salt water on sheltered muddy shores, because they have adapted to the harsh abiotic conditions in order to survive in their area. Mangroves also provide a habitat for marine organisms such as fish, crabs and yabbies. Furthermore they provide a habitat for many land animals such as birds, pythons, lizards and crocodiles. How mangroves contribute to the functioning of intertidal ecosystems will be discussed on this report. Mangroves have a very important role in their ecosystem. Their niche includes protecting and providing for many organisms. Mangroves are considered main producers in their complex food system (Appendix B). The food chain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Social Inequality And Gender Inequality Essay Social inequality is defined as the set of unequal opportunities for different social classes or statuses for various individuals within a group or society. It usually refers to people of distinct genders, ages, and ethnicities. Many American s have experienced some type of social inequality throughout their lifetime. America s gaping inequality is seen everywhere from education to the workforce. Society tends to oversee inequality based on race, gender, and other social characteristics . Americans believe that racial discrimination no longer hinders or affects the advancement of minorities. Racial and ethnic actions are still being taken towards minorities in education, employment, housing, arrests, and many other issues of society. Social inequality and discrimination towards minorities is clear in everyday society. This can be seen by the way inequality is still persistent among the social classes. Among these classes formed by society, minorities tend to be one of the most affected. This is noticed by the way education remains segregated, the wage inequality, and the constant cycle of poverty. Many have used their voice to shine light on these issues, articles and authors such as Social Inequality and Educational Disadvantage by the Russel Sage Foundation argue the lack of equal assortment of resources between the rich and the poor is leaving them with the disparity of proper resources, and Jean Anyon s From Social Class and The Hidden Curriculum of Work in her ... The visual puts the number of deaths caused by smoking in the perspective by showing a weapon that people consider more dangerous. However, the use of cigarettes and similar tobacco products causes over 500,000 deaths in the United States, 50,000 of which have never directly smoked. Every person who comes into contact with the second hand smoke produced by the smoker is also negatively affected. Unfortunately, those exposed to secondhand smoke make up about 10% of all smoking related deaths. • 16. The Art Cinema As A Mode Of Film Essay Article Three Author: David Bordwell / Title of Article: The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film Bordwell, D. (1979). The art cinema as a mode of film practice. Film Criticism, 4(1), 56 64. David Bordwell wrote his article The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film in an effort to convey the main idea that art cinema can be considered as a distinct mode of film practice, through its definite historical existence alongside other cinematic modes, set of formal conventions, and implicit viewing procedures. Rather than searching for the source of the art, or what drives the art in film, Bordwell compares art cinema to the classical narrative cinema, and highlights the differences in narrative structure. Bordwell makes the assumption that it defined itself against the classical narrative mode; especially with the way it deals with space, time, and the cause and effect link of events. To support this idea, Bordwell illustrates how art cinema motivates its narratives differently, through two principles: realism and authorial expressivity. Firstly he proposes the notion that art films reflect realism in their characters, space, and time. Psychologically complex characters are present in real worlds dealing with true to life situations. Art cinema is concerned with the characters reaction to these situations, rather than their action . Thus it bares an element of psychological subjectivity as the characters survey the world they are in, which aids the realisation of the distress of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Marlow begins to realize the darkness within man s soul, he feels that women are too weak to face this world he sees. They the women, I mean are out of it should be out of it. We must help them to stay in that beautiful world of their own, lest ours gets worse. Marlow even lies to Kurtz s Intended, telling her the last thing Kurtz said was her name, because the real truth was to dark to tell. However, women are not the only people in this novella used to symbolize darkness; black people are also exercised as an image of darkness. Conrad uses the darkness of their skin in comparison to the white people s skin. Darkness is used to represent barbarism, savages and evil while white represents all that is good. Only killing enemy personnel, destruction of buildings and facilities is very small, it will not bring long term radioactive contamination, although has never been used in combat, but strategists still called it God of War ── on a battlefield kinds of tactical weapons have the power of nuclear weapons yet available. Since the general hydrogen bomb add a layer of depleted uranium (uranium 238) shell, produced when hydrogen fusion neutron absorbing large quantities this crust, it generated a lot of radioactive contaminants. The neutron bomb shell removed, nuclear fusion could produce a lot of neutrons unhindered out a lot of radiation, at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Truck Driving Research Paper I plan to start truck driving after high school. Why I would choose this career is because I can see all of the United States and meet new people and I ve always liked tractor and trailers. I just love how I can be by myself all day long with no one bother me while I drive down the road. I can be my own boss in the cab of the truck and I can sleep whenever I want to. The only bad thing driving truck is that you have a higher rollover and accident. A truck driver does a lot of things he has to pay attention to the road and his surroundings. It takes a lot of concretion to drive the Twenty six thousand pounds plus truck. You work all hours of the day and night and you spend all your time on the road. Every day is the same, but sometimes a different load and new dangers. You spend most of the time in the cab of the truck without any company. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only thing I need is my C.D.L s which would take me about two weeks to complete. That is the only thing you need to drive trucks. But there is a test you can take so you can haul more dangerous chemicals. You can get special training you want, but most do not. My salary is about forty thousand dollars a year. But my salary can change as I improve my skills and get time hauling different loads. My work hours can vary pending on the load and the deadline. But the most is an eight to twelve hour workday. My benefits are vision, medical, and dental plus I get 401k and retirement plan. My future plan is to become a truck driver. How am I going to get my truck driver s license? I am going to graduate high school and take the test for me to get my C.D.L. Then after I complete all the test to become a truck driver then I would have to do the hands on part. After I pass both parts of the tests, then I can become a truck ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Two Point Threshold Lab Report In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger, forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure, which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. There are four types of mechanoreceptors: Merkel complexes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber. With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. It may also be helpful to eliminate the variable of temperature of the caliber to the best of one s ability. As a continuation of this study, it may strike the experimenter as intriguing to add a variable such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
