Pear Tree Analysis
Emely Gonzalez
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
AP Literature Pd.3
Topic 3
All forms of life commence as a seed, hoping to grow into a mature tree with a solid foundation, firm
limbs, and distinctive leaves. In order to reach desired growth, one must be watered with the earth s
nutrients and acquire the sun s vital rays. These paramount provisions symbolize nurture, independent
or parental, and allows an individual to learn, experience, to flourish. The trunk of the tree, our flows,
links to the branches, our paths and experiences. The leaves are a series of encounters with people or
situations, and it illustrates the idea that we are constantly meeting different individuals who leave
little or great impact in our lives and we constantly go through episodes that help define who we are.
There is a frequency of these occurrences, they come and go like the leaves do as the seasons change.
Ultimately, a tree is a metaphor of life, one that ideally depicts the journey of Janie, the protagonist in
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. Throughout the novel, she is compared to a
pear tree, and as it matures, she is struck with the repercussions of poor decisions and the inevitability
of change which begins to transform Janie and disintegrate the tree. All trees possess their own flaws,
meaning that every tree is one of kind. Janie spent most of her time under a pear tree, which frequently
presents itself throughout the novel. It

Research Paper On Arshile Gorky
Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his
lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract
expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had
chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose
Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on
his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang
word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and
not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning
who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for
hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The
Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public
adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos
strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something
similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists
and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable.
In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great
pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936),
and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the
history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can
understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas.
Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have
existed, as his accomplishments have gone

How To Build A Blockbuster
The Blockbuster store, a fixture of many American neighborhoods for 25 years, will all but disappear
in coming months, the chain s owner, Dish Network Corp., said Wednesday.
Dish, which bought the Blockbuster video rental chain out of bankruptcy in 2011, said it would close
the roughly 300 remaining stores it owns by early January. About 50 stores in the U.S. operated by
franchisees, and more overseas, will remain open. The closures, which Dish said will cost the jobs of
about 2,800 employees, signal the end of an era in the entertainment industry, the latest example of
how brick and mortar chains are being displaced by digital competitors. From its origins in the 1980s,
when consumers still considered renting and watching movies at their

Reality And Fiction The True View
Reality and Fiction: the True View 1 Reality and Fiction: the True View Americans rely a great deal on
their entertainment to educate them about life. In many ways Americans live vicariously through the
experiences of fictional characters and believe themselves to learn many things from fictional
characters. For example, many persons have said they learned CPR by watching medical shows on
television or believe they can assist in a medical emergency because they have seen experts on
television handle similar situations.
This same belief extends to Americans knowledge about the law and the judicial system of the nation.
There are many things that fictional accounts of lawyers, judges, and courts confuse or create simply

The same kind of good evil scenario between the defense attorney and prosecutor s office is also
evident in the television show Law Order. Although that show does not often portray one side as only
good or only bad, there have been times when it has created defense attorney characters who have
taken advantage of the law to force the system to completely exonerate their clients, which makes
them appear to be evil people who are cheating justice. Reality and Fiction: the True View 3 The
reality of attorneys on opposing sides of a case is that they are seldom easily identified as good or evil
persons and just because they are working for the defense or the prosecution does not indicate the type
of person they are (Steinberg). Both are expected to act legally and both have pressures on them that
affect their work and who they are. Simply the side they represent does not alone affect the kind of
person they are. As to how they try their cases, attorney ethical codes require attorneys to zealously
pursue their case for the benefit of their client to the extent the law allows (ABA). This means that if a
defense attorney sees an opportunity for his client to be set free then he or she must use it because that
is their job. It is the job of the prosecutor to assure the defense does not have those opportunities.
Again, this does not reflect on the quality of their character. The same thing can also

Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis
Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in
coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore,
Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities because
one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to societal cues.
For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language spoken to them through
someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication between the child and
someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by the experience of doing
things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6. Discuss and provide an example of Proposition 3
and 4 from the Christiansen article. Proposition 3 explains that identities can impact someone s
behavior and view on his or her life depending on how that person views an event that occurred in his
or her life. Events can be looked at by examining if the event held a meaningful, personal experience
to a person. Furthermore, this proposition explains that identities are socially interconnected to one
another because someone s identity can positively or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How do professionals get the best hair and body treatment? They get it by putting on this magic serum

My First Time I Went Tubing With My Best Friend Gracye
Overcoming A Fear
I am writing about the time I first went tubing with my best friend Gracye. It happened when I was 13
years old. I was invited for the second time to my best friend s lake house and she forced me to go on
her Parent s speed boat. Before all this took place, on the way to her lake house we watched the Teen
Beach 2 movie and there was a saying in that movie it was Gonna march to the beat; gonna do my
thing this was significant quote because i chanted it while I was tubing when I got scared. When we
got to the lake house Gracye and I unloaded our things along with the stuff for her Mom s party. We

How Is Henry Johnson A Hero
When the United States of America joined World War 1 in 1917 the rst of the world had been at war
for three years. The U.S. deployed an estimated 4,355,000 troops to around the world. Around
204,004 of them returned home injured. Henry Johnson was one of those soldiers. Henry Johnson was
born some time during 1891 in Salem, North Carolina. Not much is known about his early life except
that he moved to Albany, New York in his teens. While in Albany he worked many jobs including
chauffeur, soda mixer, laborer in a coal yard, and a redcap porter at Albany s Union Station. He
eventually married a woman named Edna. Henry and Edna had three kids together. When America

He and Needham were taken to a French hospital and treated for their wounds. Henry had 21 wound
in his head, foot, back, leg, arm and torso. They were mostly caused by guns, knives and bayonets.
Doctors inserted a steel plate into his left foot. His injuries prevented him from doing hard labor.
Henry was nicknamed The Black Death. The French awarded him with the Croix De Guerre with a
golden palm in 1918. This is France s highest honor. He was promoted to sergeant. Once he got home
in February of 1919 there was in a parade celebrating the Harlem Hellfighters. He stood in the lead car
during the parade. The crowd shouted oh you Black Death. Thousands of people lined up to see the
nearly 3,000 men ride up 5th Avenue. President Theodore Roosevelt said Johnson one of the five
bravest Americans to serve in World War I. He had a hard time finding work due to his injuries. His
wife and children soon left him. He became an alcoholic and died in 1929. His family thought he was
buried at a grave in Albany. His relatives finally found out that he was buried in Arlington National

Blade Runner Versus Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
Dana Langston
Blade Runner versus Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?...and the stupidity of comparing the two.
So, motherfucking Blade Runner. This piece of fucking cinematic masterpiece was supposedly
inspired by the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?)
written by author Philip K. Dick who was a literal dick I mean he was a piece of shit. Here s the thing
though: I think it s pretty fuckin stupid to compare Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric
Sheep? because they weren t intended to do the same goddamn thing. Lemme explain. Like many
great films, Blade Runner is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? written by sci
fi legend Philip K. Dick. The story follows a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the driving force for Rick Deckard in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is the
money he would be making from retiring the Androids. As he sees it, the more money he makes, the
better an animal he can buy, because apparently he s too good for an electric sheep the pompous
fucking ass. In Blade Runner, the driving force is the fact that Deckard has been forced to retire the
Androids by the police department where, as far as the viewer can tell, Deckard use to work but
eventually quit. With a vast change in society and motivation, Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream
of Electric Sheep? are stupid to compare. It is difficult for one to see the relation in the two, other than
a few basic plot points that are the same. One of these plot points is the character Roy Batty, aka the
sadistic fuckhead that gets pleasure from mankind s heartbreaking distraught caused by Buster
Friendly (who ain t that friendly, friend). In the movie, Roy Batty and the other andies are violent
criminals. They murder quite a few people who get in their way, but they never kill out of some sort of
psychopathic detachment. They murder because they are afraid of dying, because they are plagued by
the fear of the unknown. And when Deckard dangles from the roof of Sebastian s apartment, Roy
reaches out and hauls his enemy onto the roof. In short, the Batty of Blade Runner is a flawed hero
who empathized with Deckard in his last

Medvec and colleagues set up the hypothesis that man can be ashamed to the extent of committing
suicide just because they have come in second placed. The fact of defeating the others and being
defeated by a single individual is what makes a person so devastated to the extent of committing
suicide. Johnson (1986) observes that a person s achievements often matter less than how they have
not been able to accomplish their objectives. He further states that being the one of the best in the
world has a lesser meaning if there is a person who is better than you. The variables of the study are
the person s expectations and personal satisfaction of the people.Kahneman Miller, (1986) say that the
people s objective and the subsequent outcomes affect the functionality of the person. The intensity of
the reaction of the people to particular events is directly proportional to the greater or lesser outcomes.
The researchers took the perfect scenario from the athletes where thewinner is awarded the gold
medal, the runner s up is awarded the silver medal and the second runner s up is awarded the bronze
medal. To many the one with the silver medal is better offthan the one with the bronze medal.
However James (1892) notes that the one who has a bronze medal is more satisfied than the one
awarded the silver medal. This is because the runner s up is not satisfied with the outcome of the race

Why should you use Pinterest for your sports marketing, and what is it? How can you use it? Simply
put Pinterest is a photo sharing website. Users post videos or photos on their own or others boards.
This is known as a collection of pins and usually has a common theme.
You should use it because it is free, one of the most popular social media websites in the world, and
sports fans love to see pictures or videos of the favorite sports team or even just of a sport they
participate in personally. You can use Pinterest in other ways to promote your products, but if your
business has ties to a professional sports team, and you post pictures or videos of that team, fans will

Is The Internet Making Us Lazy Research Paper
Isn t it ironic that the internet has negative effects on us? Shouldn t the internet be making us smarter
and more intelligent? How the internet affects us depends on the way we use it. There are different
ways we use the internet but it is mainly for help on something. There is a cheating kind of help and a
research kind of help. Using the internet to copy answers for homework leads to misuse and therefore
has a negative effect on us. However, using the internet for research for a project is helpful: people
actually learn something. Even though the internet may tend to have more negative than positive
effects, both contribute to the changing sociological effects caused by the internet.
Since people are using the internet more than ever, it leads to a loss of focus on other tasks such as

satisfaction instead of working hard to make things happen. Also, in You Won t Finish this Article,

people are too lazy to finish reading articles: Schwartz tells me that on a typical Slate page only 25

Catch 22 Genres
Genres are categorizations of any media based on established similarities in writing style and
conventions. Instead of a strict set of rules, works under genres typically follow a loose set of
guidelines. For example, movies under the horror genre typically employ suspense and mystery to
give viewers a sense of unease and discomfort. One example of a genre is superhero fiction, chosen
mainly because it is one of the most popular genres in movies today. Within this genre, the protagonist
or hero is often a superhuman, a person who wields one or more superpower; the antagonist or villain
also wields superpowers in order to provide conflict to the protagonist. Action scenes between the
hero and the villain or the hero and the villain s grunts are a key part of superhero fiction. Another
example of genres is science fiction which is chosen due to its wide prevalence in literature. Writers of
this genre typically speculate on more advanced technology such as space travel and artificial
intelligence wielded by either humans or some other sentient species introduced by the writers. While

Genres are fluid: they often respond to changes within the world. For example, Joseph Heller s
satirical novel Catch 22 became popular as it reflected the growing opposition towards the Vietnam
War in the 1960s through its criticism of the military complex (BBC News, 2012). Because genres are
fluid, they frequently change to reflect the shifting expectations of readers or viewers. The superhero
genre, for instance, evolved from simple stories involving the triumph of good over evil in its
beginning to stories incorporating darker and grittier themes today. New genres also form to meet the
developing needs of consumers. For instance, satire developed as a means to draw attention to faults
within society and criticize established groups such as

Tuba Performance Review Essay
What intrigues me the most about the tuba in this performance is that it is possible to play the lower
notes very loudly. Normally, playing lower pitches in the tuba requires slow buzzing and a lot of air.
Towards the end, the soloist belted out the incredibly low notes. Additionally, throughout the
performance, I felt a range of emotions from feeling happy to very anxious. The short staccato notes
makes me feel cheerful but towards the end, the low pitched long notes makes me feel anxious and
worried. Lastly, the short staccato notes that plays in a fast tempo intrigues me the most. Personally, it
is a challenge for me to play shorter notes at a fast tempo therefore I am mesmerized that it is
attainable.

The And It Professional Issues
DIESELGATE AND IT PROFESSIONAL ISSUES
In early 2014 a group of scientists at West Virginia University, 2 students and two professors tested
three cars for their emissions. For Passat and Jetta two Volkswagen cars, their found that in real
driving conditions the US emissions limits was exceeded by factor of 15 to 25 and by factor 5 to 20
for Jetta and Passat respectively.(1) This confirmed the discrepancies already found by International
Council on Clean Transportation (ICCDT) in Europe. On 18 September 2015 the United States
Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) seed a Notice o Violation (NOV) alleging that
Volkswagen Group had an emissions compliance defeat device installed.(2) In this case this defeat
device was an installed firmware with an algorithm intentionally forged with an intention to detect and
falsify emission tests. Since then couple of heads has rolled, but as my best knowledge it is still not
known which individual software engineers are personally responsible for doing this. But from
software engineer point of view it might be interesting to answer the question what can we learn from
this affair? What IT professional issues it raised?
It was always Volkswagen ambition to conquer US car market. One of the difficulties they faced was
common in USA loyalty to domestic car vendors. Another problem is different market structure.
Diesel cars share much less part of the market than it is in Europe. And much more restrictive

Companies seek to profit off the work of the individuals they employ. If you aren t generating more
value for the company than they pay you will likely not be working for that company much longer.
They also hate taking risks and dealing with the unknown. Manga, like many forms of art, throughout
the years was commercialized after it was shown to be capable of making money. Like all markets
there was a void where companies viewed the risks to be too high, and eventually an independent

eat enough within the 3 days. My kilocalorie intake should have been at 2493, but I had only
consumed 1401.51 kilocalories. Considering how active I am and how often I go to the gym, I did not
consume enough calories or nutrients that could provide me with enough energy to exercise. My diet
lacked a lot in fruits, vegetables, and dairy. My goal for fruits was 2 cups and I only consumed 0.3
cups. My goals for vegetables and dairy was 3 cup and I only consumed 0.5 cups of veggies and 0.9
cups of dairy. As for vitamins and minerals, my vitamin C (86%), D (50%), and E (21%) levels were
quite low and my magnesium (75%), potassium (38%), and calcium (84%) levels were low as well.
My recommended carbohydrate intake was not even within range. It should have been within 280.46
405.11g but I was only at 174.06g. I started to notice that my muscles were cramping a lot and was
feeling very fatigued and realized that with my vitamins, minerals, and a below average kcal intake,
feeling fatigued was expected. Lack of potassium most likely contributed most to muscle cramps; My
intake was only 1800.68mg when I should have been around 4700mg. Overall, my lack of

Audrey Hepburn Accomplishments
Can you imagine being a star in an abundance of movies, receiving several awards, learning additional
languages and being named best dressed all in one lifetime? Audrey Hepburn was very well known in
the acting world. She was a young philanthropist who loved helping and giving to people. She also set
the bar quite high with her sense of style. Audrey Hepburn was very successful in life because she had
an acting career, many accomplishments, and an amazing family. Surprisingly, Audrey had a difficult
early life which led to a successful career. May 4, 1929, was the day Audrey graced the world with her
existence in Brussels, Belgium (Actress and Fashion Icon). While Audrey and her mother were in

Analyzing Camilo Gomides Moths Of The Limberlost
Environmental Crisis: Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing s going to get any

that analyzes and promotes works...which raise moral questions about huma n interactions with nature,
while also motivating audiences to live within a limit that will be binding over generations. I believe
by the articles that I have read that people are hurting our environment, some people are positive

Ecocriticism is important to today because it shows the relationship between how that characters in
books interact with nature and how interactions of the authors influence their audiences environment

He Named Me Malala Analysis
With rising tension in the Middle East, there is a surge in Western Ideology coming to the East and
vice versa. When reading West of Kabul, East of New York an Afghan American Story by Tamim
Ansary, and watching He Named Me Malala the documentary of Malala Yousafzai, it became evident
how people who were raised in the East are trying to cope with the fact that they re becoming
essentially Americanized, but also trying to hold on to their roots. With both cases, it is clear that
within the Middle East the people in question act differently than how they would in America. In the
end, these characters achieve a balance of Western and Eastern ideologies through retaining the
cultures that they came from. Tamim Ansary has an upper hand in balancing ... Show more content on

Background Of The Problem Of Opium
Background of the Problem
Opium is one of the key ingredients that is required when making Heroin. Once the milky fluid has
been cut from the poppy seed, it is then scraped off and set to air dry, producing what we know today
as opium. The opium is then vigorously stirred in with a calcium solution and hot water and then is
supposed to settle for a few hours. Once the opium has been settled, the top which contains the
morphine is extracted from the rest of the liquid. The morphine residue is then dried which results in a
brown morphine base. A chemical solution can be added at this time in addition with heat until the
solution turns black. When cooled down and quenched with water, the impurities of the substance are
removed. In a separate container, sodium carbonate is dissolved in water, then added to the morphine
base solution to create a Heroin based solution. However, on the streets of Dayton, to make more of a
profit off a cheaper substance, it is mostly sold by gel caps which are not as high quality. This results
in unnatural substances and chemicals being included in the cheap heroin product, creating a major
reason why addicts are dying from the drug.
Records show that within Montgomery County the number of heroin overdose has significantly
increased over time. Society is taking a destructive approach by punishing those who abuse drugs like
heroin rather than treating the addiction as a disease that is needing to be cured. The improper

The Cultural Effects Of Child Abuse
The Cultural Effects of Child Abuse
In every nation in the world, children become victims of cruelty, abuse inflicted by their own parents
and the adults entrusted with their care. For a victim, this abuse is capable of creating an unending
cycle of injury, both physical and psychological. Unless the cycle is disrupted early on in a victim s
life, it can impede upon his or her likeliness to succeed and raise his or her own children. Due to the
fact that it is nearly impossible for victims of child abuse to come to terms with abuse unless they are
supported and trusted by not only their family but the other people around them as well; a system of
support, encouragement, and prevention must be created in every level of society to prevent ... Show

Even after an abuser has left a child s life or a victim of abuse has grown up, they are still left with the
trauma influence of abuse, these effects never fully leave. That s why it s important to create a safe

explored and improved upon all across America, these treatments need to be made more easily
accessible and implemented not only in the United States but other countries and continents as well.
Manas K. Akmatov a German Epidemiologist who has written a plethora of articles about abuse and

In contrast to this, 57.8% of people living in a transitional countries (former Soviet and Yugoslavian

Smoking is Harmful and Dangerous
Smoking is harmful and dangerous for American University in Cairo (AUC) students. Worldwide,
tobacco use causes more than 5 million deaths per year ( Fast Facts ) and this is a large number of
smokers that should be decreased. In Egypt, there are 34, 000 deaths each year due smoking,
according to the article Smoking in Egypt | Egypt Independent . However, the number of smokers in
Egypt is increasing every day and especially among youth. AUC took a first step to protect its students
from this danger by banning indoor smoking. AUC banned smoking10 feet from classrooms to
maintain a healthier environment .However, it did not decrease the number of smokers on campus so
AUC should ban smoking on campus. This essay will prove that smoking should be banned on the
AUC campus for several reasons. Firstly, the number of smoking youth is increasing every day
because Egypt is a smoking culture and they observe their parents smoking with few changes in
health. Secondly, AUC should try to provide a healthier environment for the students and the working
faculty because it is its responsibility. Thirdly, ban on smoking will set an example in Egypt to quit
smoking and prevent others from this dangerous habit. Finally, AUC students are role models for the
Egyptian people so they should become healthier to be more productive.

I Hear America Singing Thesis
Maxim Gorky, a well known Russian and Soviet writer once said, When work is a pleasure, life is a
joy! When work is a duty, life is slavery, revealing how work can be defined in various ways, in which
someone can define it in a positive way where others in a negative way. According to the Merriam
Webster, work can be defined as a job or activity that you do regularly especially in order to earn
money. The reality is whoever you ask would have different meanings for work according to the
experience that they had. For example, a worker would love and enjoy work if they are being paid
enough to feed their family and doesn t have a negative impact on them. Where on the other hand,

Siren s Rock Between Island Bay And Owhiro Bay
On Wednesday the 18th February the year 12 biology class went to Siren s Rock between Island bay
and Owhiro bay to study community patterns. The community pattern we were studying was zonation
on the rocky shore. Zonation is when an environmental factor changes, the distribution of species
changes which results in the species being present in zones or bands. In this report I am going to talk
about the Cellana denticulata limpet, the Cellana radian and the relationship between the two species.
Species 1: Description: The Cellana denticulata is a limpet which belongs in the true limpet family. A
true limpet is a small marine gastropod mollusc. The C denticulata is a mollusc due to it having a soft
body with a hard shell. The shell of the C denticulata is a lot more elevated and bigger than other
species of limpets with 20 30 strong ribs granulose and scaly. The colour of the shell can vary from a
grey to brown colour. On the inside of the shell the C denticulata is a bluish whitey colour with darker
streaks where the undersides of the ribs are. The C denticulata has a strong muscular foot on the
underside of their body which allows it to suction itself onto the rock to prevent slipping or falling
from the rock. This limits the movements of where the C denticulata can travel as they cannot move in
large distances. This means when it comes to feeding the C denticulata doesn t travel very far. They
are algae grazers, which graze when the tide is in by scraping the algae off

Color Purple Sexism
The Color Purple by Alice Walker details the struggle of an African American women, Celie, as she
deals with her abusive husband and the absence of her sister. Due to the lack of love from her father,
Celie turns to her sister Nettie for support. However, she quickly finds herself abandoned when Nettie
heads to Africa as a missionary. The Color Purple is known as an American Classic presenting scenes
of violence and sexuality. Bouncing back and forth between the two gives the reader an idea of the
hardships faced by African Americans during the early 20th century. Historians consider the journey
from degradation to empowerment developed throughout the plot, to be a factor in obtaining the book

One is sexism, defined as prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, based
on sex. For most of the novel, Celie sees sex as violence and abuse due to the experiences she has had
with both her husband Albert and her Stepfather. Celie was raped at the age of fourteen by her
Stepfather and until she met Shug, her understanding of what sex is was pain. Celie shares in detail,
He start to choke me, saying You better shut up and git used to it (1). Although Celie was raped at a
young age, Shug tells Celie that she is still a virgin because unless you enjoy sex, you have not
experienced the bliss of sex. As the story unfolds, Celie shares sexual moments with Shug, both
enjoying the presence of the other. The other theme of The Color Purple is racism. It is obviously a
huge part of the early 20th century and that is the time period in which the book takes place. Celie and
her sister Nettie both relied heavily on each other and when Nettie heads south to Africa, Celie is
defeated. Celie, being black, has had nobody or nothing that has brought pleasure and happiness to her
life except Nettie. Discrimination was heavily induced upon Celie on a daily basis

Global Assessment of Biodiversity and the Anthropogenic...
The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent
priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction,
trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic threats
that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more frequently,
conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat destruction, in
comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional biodiversity
assessments often ignore hunting pressure though they are aware of its presence, or classify into ways
(e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other researchers (Galetti
Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure by one biologist can be
classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the hunting classifications of a
biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low hunting pressure? The use of
different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here we ask how to measure the
intensity of hunting pressure. Knowing this answer will help us better understand the effects of
hunting on biodiversity loss and set conservation priorities more efficiently. Flight initiation distance
(FID) is the distance between prey and the predator/hunter when animal begins to flee. If

Why I Believe It Should Be Mandatory
Many schools regard art with the idea that it s just a bunch of colors mixed together; although I have
found that art is not this simple a concept. I have problems with memorizing complicated and or
important pieces of information; although when I learn through creating something, (for example,
creating a picture having to do with moles, in order to learn about the chemistry unit moles) I m able
to clearly picture and understand newly introduced concepts. This is why I believe it should be
mandatory to require all students to create art in introduction to a new concept. Doing this would not
only open up people s minds to art s influences, but it would also have a positive effect on the student
s mental process as well. Studies show that arts integration goes beyond including art projects in class;
it is a teaching strategy that seamlessly merges arts standards with core curricula to build connections
and provide engaging context ( Nobori, Mariko; How the arts unlock the door to learning). Many
other people have written about how the brain copes with learning through art, such as Mariko
Norbori, a writer for and or creator of the website Edutopia. Norbori was able to visit Wiley H. Bates
Middle School, in Annapolis, Maryland; and discovered that Every teacher there is committed to
weaving the arts and standard curricula together (Norbori). During her visit, she was shown some of

Abstract The main objective of this research paper is to propose a mobile solution for those students
who are registered with course of bachelor engineering technology program. We have seen over the
years that the process of manual records has been carried out across almost all educational institutions.
The process is not only time consuming but also sometimes inefficient resulting in the false marking
of attendance. To discourage the student s above mentioned attitude towards learning; a mobile
application has been designed, developed and tested for android platform. The paper describes the step
by step design and development techniques process of android application which can be utilized as an
integral component of learning model of engineering education anywhere.
Today, we need not maintain pen and paper based records and other related stuffs.

Annotation Of The Black Cat
The visual presentation that I chose to do is the The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. It is a combination
of a two dimensional and three dimensional artwork. Different types of materials were used such as
wood, Styrofoam, cardboards, pom poms, etc. to enhance the visual presentation of the story. Since
the black cat is the major character in the story, I chose the color black, white, gray as the majority
colors of the presentation. These colors really blend well with the black cat. I also think that the story
involves tragedy, murder, hate, and the color black represent those. There are also silver, brown, red,
and different colors used for the alcohol bottles. The base for the artwork is a 12 x26 x2 Styrofoam
covered with gray color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black cat is a potent symbol of the human conscience. In the middle section of the visual
presentation is a black cat with a mirror like eye and a mirror like background. These materials were
used to show how the cat becomes sort of a mirror to the narrator to see how he transformed himself
into a totally different person and allowed him to see the changes that happened to him. I also used
black pom poms to create a real feel (texture wise) to the cat. In the story, the narrator proclaims his
purpose for penning is to clear his conscience. He is aware of his human condition and his pain filled
being. He even claims that he succumbs to the spirit of perverseness within him, as if it were a natural
course. After his actions of violence in maiming and murdering the black cat, he becomes regretful for
what he had done, and in some attempt at redemption seeks out another cat as a replacement. This is
exactly what leads him to hate the new black cat so much. It is as if it was resurrected, the missing eye
is an exact replica of his first crime and the new white gallows like patch is a mark of his evil act. It
makes him more self conscious of himself and to all that he had done. The more the cat likes him, the
more he hates it. Even as he wakes up from the nightmares, he discovers the cat as a weight upon his
heart. He views the cat as the source of all his wretchedness while all it had done was made him self
conscious of

Requirements And Issue Management Systems
1. Requirements and Issue Management Systems
Requirements and issue management systems allow managers or leaders to classify and affiliate
characteristics with them, and to establish and evaluate dependencies and other common ties.
Requirements set the stage for a project and issue management is an important process of identifying
and resolving issues (Cook, 2015). Shaw Industries used an agile methodology called Scrum to
improve relationships between IT and business partners to ensure project success (O Brien Marakas,
2011). IT used this tool to work collectively as a group and determine which project will give Shaw
Industries the best value. They divided the project into segments: 30 days to complete a series of tasks.

IT must have something to show during its effort, and if they deliver, this will promote a positive
relationship.
A healthy organization is one that involves people who are loyal to one another, never judges,
expresses genuine appreciation across their organizational structure, assists others with critical tasks
and never places blame on someone (Williams, 2013). When businesses make and keep promises, they
see strong trust and respect across the organization. If they often make commitments but fail to keep
them, people will see frustration and self starving behavior (Williams, 2013). Shaw Industries focused
on consistency to build a trusting relationship with their client. They delivered priorities by an explicit
deadline and in turn, trust was earned. A customer s ability to trust is dependent upon showing the
customer that your behavior is consistent and persistent over time. When a customer can predict your
behavior, that customer is more likely to trust you (James, 2012).
While the agile system was the popular choice for Shaw Industries, this certainly does not mean it is
the best choice for every organization. There are hundreds of Requirements and Issue Management
software available. SpiraTest, RequirementsHub, DevSpec, Gatherspace and Bugzilla are just a few
that are popular today (Top Requirements Management Software Products, 2015). Each has their own
set of tools and configurations to assist project managers. An effective issue management system

Themes In A Passage To India
The British rule in India is known through history. The reasons why the British colonized India might
have been economic interest that they had over it. Due to this, the British settled their administration
and controlled the place. The British tent to create their own society in India and settled there, having
all of the advantages. This settlement of the British in India, the way they ruled the colonized country,
the way they behaved towards the locals and their living there, is best described in E.M Forster s A
Passage to India . It should be mentioned that A Passage to India is a novel that criticizes not only the
British administration of India but as a sociological novel, as well, that discusses the obstacles that
forbid the friendship between people belonging to different nations and cultures. The importance of
the theme is that it explores an important question: Can people of different races be friends? The novel
focuses on the English and the Indian races. The novel became famous for the reason that it elaborates
quite a sensitive theme, and is considered as Forster s most famous work. The purpose of this study

The Four Psychodynamic Theories
In the four major theories of personality one of these theories is psychodynamic. Psychodynamic
personality theory focuses on the role of the unconscious mind in the development of personality. In
Freud s study, one of the advantages that prove to be present in psychodynamic theory is its ability to
recognize there is subconscious and how it has impact on one s life. As well, it brought the importance
that childhood experiences have an effect on an individual s life. For example, many of Freud s
patients proved this case when discussing the effects of being sexually abused as a child altered their
way of living. However, one of the disadvantages of this theory would be its claim that human
behavior is pre determined and individuals do not have free will. For instance, the psychosexual stages
that Freud claim that lead to the end result personality of an individual. Furthermore, another
personality theory that is a part of the major four theories would be trait theories. Trait theories are less
concerned with explanation for personality development and changing personality than they are with
describing personality and predicting behavior based on observation. One of the advantages that are

One of the mirror is a stationary mirror and other one is a movable mirror. The beam splitter is used to
transmit half of the light and reflect half of the light. Subsequently, the transmitted light and the
reflected light strike the stationary mirror and the movable mirror. When reflected back by the mirrors,
two beams of light recombine with each other at the beam splitter.[27]
If the distances travelled by two beams are the same, it means that the distances between two mirrors
and the beam splitter are the same and the situation is defined as zero path difference (ZPD). But
imagine if the movable mirror moves away from the beam splitter, the light beam which strikes the
movable mirror will travel a longer distance than the light beam which strikes the stationary mirror.
The distance which the movable mirror is away from the ZPD is defined as the mirror displacement
and is represented by ∆. It is obvious that the extra distance travelled by the light which strikes the
movable mirror is 2∆. The extra distance is defined as the optical path difference (OPD) and is

Understanding The Core Variables That Affect Our Lives Essay
Aging, although a quite evasive and rather frightening thought, is an inevitable process that occurs to
every form of life, regardless of genetic makeup or origin, and it is a fundamental mechanism in which
our universe/cosmos is able to fuel itself with and ultimately flourish on. It is simply invariable, in
order for there to be creation and rebirth, there needs to be the set process that eventually leads to
death and reconversion in a perpetual system/method of sustenance. Understanding the core variables
that affect these processes are essential because they allow us to gain a deeper insight into what it
means to age, both physically and mentally, but more importantly, how to live our current lives to
ensure a happy, gratifying, and fuller existence.
For my Aging Process assignment, I have chosen to interview my grandfather Joe Pacheco. He is a
currently retired man who is approximately 84 years of age, and presently resides in sunny Thousand
Oaks, California. Never being too prominent in my life at a young age, apart from occasional family
gatherings and outings, there wasn t too much that I really knew about him before this, so choosing
him for my interview assignment was in a way metaphorically killing two birds with one stone. The
things that I DID know were that he was a veteran who went on to work in the fire department for a

Longitudinal Studies Vs Cross Sectional Studies
You can talk about age related differences, but you cannot show age related changes with a cross
sectional studies. The old cross sectional studies tended to show that age related differences began
early in adulthood and continued to be apparent later. But, we have a more contemporary view and it
is a lot more positive. The notion is that while there are some age differences and decline, it is less
extreme than initially reported. There is a difference between cross sectional studies and longitudinal
studies because: 1. Cohort effects Years of Education Good health Cognitive complexities of life 2.
Practice effects If they know they are going to be tested, and if they keep coming back, participants
may be better, more calmer. 3. Selective

My Favorite Music Essay
I was raised around many types of music, and I have heard many different songs. However, there is
one music group that I have listened to off and on for a very long time. This group is Blue October,
and I have listened to them since I was six years old when my mother first introduced me. The music
from Blue October is ever changing and has been linear to my ever changing life. I love the music that
they make because it is real and alive. I look for sincear songs; Blue October meets this expectation
that I have. The song Into The Ocean is the first song that I had ever heard by them. I remember the
first time I had ever hear that song was on my moms CD plater when her and my dad were still
together. We were living in a two bedroom appartment and I was watching my mother draw big
beautiful paisly prints on thick paper with her shimmery gel pens. While I watched her hands I
listened to the lullaby sound of the violin in the song. Even now, depending on how I feel, I will listen
to the music most. I still borrowed my mothers CD player on numerous occasions. Apparently, I
borrowed it so many times, it was just easier for my mom and dad to save the money to buy me one of
my own. I now could listen to the song over and over as many times as I wanted. This was my very
first CD player. I even got my own pair of headphones. They went over the top of my head and went
over my ears with the thin foam that made sure everyone heard what I was listening to. This CD
player was more

Native American Analysis
Always historicize! This famous dictum becomes the trigger for anyone who wants to have an
investigation by looking at the significance of historical dimension of a text. Such investigation also
examines the cultural and social objects in a larger social relation. As history is the key, the
investigation further goes to use it in order to restore and reshape our perspectives on a particular text.
This is not to say that after finding the connection our analysis is done, but it actually goes beyond
that. The assumption that a text reflects what is in the society, is enriched and explored more by using
Jameson s critical investigation. Such framework of analysis enables us to see more. Just like what the

Ortiz, a native of Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico, is a poet, fiction writer, essayist, and storyteller.
According to Wiget (1996), he is acknowledged as one of the most talented and accomplished writers
of the Native American Renaissance of the 1960s and 70s. Further, Wiget adds that Ortiz is also
known for his role as a leading figure in the struggle to continue traditional forms and themes of
indigenous life. In a similar vein, Zepeda explicates that as a major Native writer, he insists on telling
the story of his people s land, culture, and community, a story marred by social, political, economic,
and cultural conflicts with the Euro American society (159). Further she adds that Ortiz is acclaimed a

What Is The Challenge Of The Antimalarials Drug Development
The challenge of the antimalarials drug development is to deliver a drug that should: (i) address drug
resistance issues, (ii) have a rapid onset of action, (iii) be safe, especially in children and pregnant
women, and (iv) cure malaria in a single dose (v) identify novel targets. Artemisinin based
combination therapies (ACTs) currently gold standard in treating uncomplicated malaria, have an
inherent issue of emerging resistance. To tackle this problem, sophisticated cellular and phenotypic
screening methods have identified drug candidates active against different stages of the parasites life
cycle in recent years. (Table 1.0) Following are brief descriptions of such innovative strategies
currently under preclinical development:
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first generation ozonide OZ277, known as arterolane, has been found to inhibit the growth of
chloroquine resistant (K1) and chloroquine sensitive (NF54) parasite strains with an IC50 = 1.6
1.8nM. In 2012, the combination of arterolane maleate and piperaquine phosphate was released as a 3
day treatment in India. The second generation peroxide OZ439 (EC50 = 3.4 4.0nM) featuring an 80
aryl rather than an 80 alkyl group causing higher stability of the O O bond towards Fe(II) increasing
by 50 fold, presumably because of steric reasons, is now in Phase IIa studies. [6, 7]
Tetraoxanes (also stabilizes O O bond), as was employed in the drug development candidate RKA
182, has displayed IC50 values of 4.9 nM against the P. falciparum 3D 7 strain and of 1.9 nM against
the K1 strain (chloroquine sensitive and resistant, respectively). It reduced P. berghei parasitemia in
mice to undetectable levels 24 hours after treatment. This compound is currently in preclinical trials
and although it has greater stability than OZ277, its antimalarial activity is inferior to OZ439. [8, 9]
Phenotypic whole cell screening method has revealed a 2 aminopyridine class of small molecules as a
good starting point to develop new a derivative, MMV390048, which lacked cross resistance with
current drugs used to treat malaria, and has a potential ability to block all life cycle stages of the
malaria parasite. Both genomic and chemoproteomic studies have

Hugo s Restaurant Style
When I began writing this blog post, I thought that the menu of Hugo s would be the draw for people.
Looking to have a great meal is one thing I can agree with Houston about on many levels and Hugo s
has got some really fun, interesting, delicious food. Once I even had crickets there. And they were
good. Like, really good.
But adventuresome eating isn t even the most interesting thing about Hugo s, which serves authentic
Mexican regional cuisine from many of Mexico s numerous cultural variants. Executive Chef Hugo
Ortega (the Hugo in Hugo s) considers authentic Mexican cooking to be a world class cuisine that has
remained virtually unchanged by the outside world. He seeks to find the subtle flavors of each area
and integrate them into his technically distinguished menu, bringing a reverent tone to this beautiful
homage to Mexican diversity. However, despite the exceptional cuisine, despite the historic, beautiful
building, despite even your love of a good story about me eating strange foods, nothing trumps the
intrigue of a great story: Tracy Vaught and Hugo Ortega are plenty of story to tell.
Tracy is an idiosyncratic restaurant owner, perhaps owing to her background not in restaurants but in
geology. Looking for a career change from the isolating business of rock analysis, Tracy considered a

Essay On Trauma
Without a doubt having taken this course has opened my eyes to the subject of trauma and its effects
in ways that I would never have conceived in my limited exposure to this area of study. I can say, that
it is the study of trauma and its many faceted dimensions that have perked up my ears at times such as
when the mention of the term on the T.V. brings me to tune in to hear what the latest event or
discussion surrounding a specific take on violence and its trauma related after probing. My reflection
on my emotional reactions to certain KB s is that at the heart of the topic of trauma are various
nuisances. I am looking at my journey as I go through the course, and I am personally affected by
resilience as a factor of people s lives. I was struck by this because the idea was not one which comes
to my attention when thinking of trauma. What comes to mind is what takes place at the time of a
traumatic event and the recovery aspect of it. The varied aspects of family history and resilience never
entered the conversation about trauma which I carried on with myself. But after looking at the need
for victims of traumatic events such as a mass shooting to get better after a traumatic event, it is
reiterated over and over by research of well documented studies as to how a person s recovery
progresses will depend on what resilience mechanisms have been laid down in their childhood for a
given individual. I have this point of view or good stressors to fall back on for myself

Anne Bradstreet Influence
Anne was the first poet of America. Her writing style reflected things and events that occurred during
her lifetime. For her, writing poetry was an outlet for stress being that she was a Puritan and they did
not allow women to be educated. Anne Bradstreet s poems directly reflected her emotions and how
she processed the events around her. A lot of her poetry is sad and somber. Being that she is a Puritan
she has a lot of biblical references in her poems. In The Flesh and the Spirit Anne takes these two
objects and personifies them. She created an environment Where the Flesh and the Spirit where two
sisters arguing, Spirit says, Sisters are we, yea, twins we be, yet deadly feud twixt thee and me; for
one father are we not, thou by old Adam wast begot, (223) she tells the sister that their feud has not
been resolved. Flesh took interest with earthly things while Spirit indulged in meditating and trying to
get to heaven. Sprit mentions the old Adam part because the Puritans thought that man lost to sin after
the fall of old Adam but then man was redeemed when Jesus was sacrificed. ... Show more content on

In Here follows some verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 Anne wrote about how
she went to sleep she woke up as her house were burning down. She cried but then after it burned
down. She said I blest his name that gave and took, that laid my good now in the dust (232) because
she notes that those were God s possessions and not hers. Though she says this at the end of the poem
she lets readers know that she has not reconciled with her loss of possessions. Though it seems like
she submitted to God, she stills feel sorrow because of her house burning down. Though Bradstreet is
a Puritan and she has not lost her faith it does revel that she does have some emotion attachment to
earthly things. It just makes her have to be active in her faith so that she can make it to

What Are The Responsibilities Of A Well Being Citizen
Responsibilities of a well being citizen In this world, controlled and managed by people, we must be
fully aware of the responsibilities of a well being citizen. In order to make the country healthier and
ever green, the citizens should fulfill their responsibilities. Although we are very busy in our hectic
lives, but if we all contribute little bit the country will become more likely place to live in peace.
Everyone lives for their own need, but living for others and serving the country is the real meaning of
living. Hence, citizens should be serious about their responsibilities to make a better, secure and
healthier country. The citizens should stand against all the odds things happening around the city.

Neoplasm Essay
The neoplasm is assumed to have a nonaggressive nature; however, data regarding the course in HIV
immunocompromised persons is scant. A case of orolabial bowenoid papulosis caused by HPV 32is
noted.[63]
Histopathology: reveals features of an intraepithelial carcinoma. Secondary amyloid deposition has
been reported histologically in one case of BP.[64]
Differential diagnosis Lichen planus, common warts, seborrhoeic warts, naevi and condylomata lata.
A biopsy is indicated in instances where the clinical diagnosis is uncertain.
Treatment and follow up Treatment depends on many factors. Circumcision removes a major risk
factor for cancer and provides extensive tissue for histology. Topical 5 fluorouracil as a 5% cream is a
well established conventional option for the treatment of BP,[65 67] but there have not been any
clinical trials. Other treatments include cryosurgery, curettage and electrocautery, excisional surgery,
glans resurfacing, Mohs micrographic surgery, laser and photodynamic therapy.[ 65 69] Radiotherapy
should be avoided. Topical imiquimod may help some patients.[70 72] Patients presenting with these
conditions should be counselled and screened for HPV and other sexually transmitted diseases,
including HIV infection. They should stop smoking. Sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

  • 2. Pear Tree Analysis Emely Gonzalez Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston AP Literature Pd.3 Topic 3 All forms of life commence as a seed, hoping to grow into a mature tree with a solid foundation, firm limbs, and distinctive leaves. In order to reach desired growth, one must be watered with the earth s nutrients and acquire the sun s vital rays. These paramount provisions symbolize nurture, independent or parental, and allows an individual to learn, experience, to flourish. The trunk of the tree, our flows, links to the branches, our paths and experiences. The leaves are a series of encounters with people or situations, and it illustrates the idea that we are constantly meeting different individuals who leave little or great impact in our lives and we constantly go through episodes that help define who we are. There is a frequency of these occurrences, they come and go like the leaves do as the seasons change. Ultimately, a tree is a metaphor of life, one that ideally depicts the journey of Janie, the protagonist in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. Throughout the novel, she is compared to a pear tree, and as it matures, she is struck with the repercussions of poor decisions and the inevitability of change which begins to transform Janie and disintegrate the tree. All trees possess their own flaws, meaning that every tree is one of kind. Janie spent most of her time under a pear tree, which frequently presents itself throughout the novel. It ... • 3. Research Paper On Arshile Gorky Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable. In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936), and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas. Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have existed, as his accomplishments have gone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Build A Blockbuster The Blockbuster store, a fixture of many American neighborhoods for 25 years, will all but disappear in coming months, the chain s owner, Dish Network Corp., said Wednesday. Dish, which bought the Blockbuster video rental chain out of bankruptcy in 2011, said it would close the roughly 300 remaining stores it owns by early January. About 50 stores in the U.S. operated by franchisees, and more overseas, will remain open. The closures, which Dish said will cost the jobs of about 2,800 employees, signal the end of an era in the entertainment industry, the latest example of how brick and mortar chains are being displaced by digital competitors. In many ways Americans live vicariously through the experiences of fictional characters and believe themselves to learn many things from fictional characters. For example, many persons have said they learned CPR by watching medical shows on television or believe they can assist in a medical emergency because they have seen experts on television handle similar situations. This same belief extends to Americans knowledge about the law and the judicial system of the nation. The same kind of good evil scenario between the defense attorney and prosecutor s office is also evident in the television show Law Order. Although that show does not often portray one side as only good or only bad, there have been times when it has created defense attorney characters who have taken advantage of the law to force the system to completely exonerate their clients, which makes them appear to be evil people who are cheating justice. Reality and Fiction: the True View 3 The reality of attorneys on opposing sides of a case is that they are seldom easily identified as good or evil persons and just because they are working for the defense or the prosecution does not indicate the type of person they are (Steinberg). Both are expected to act legally and both have pressures on them that affect their work and who they are. Simply the side they represent does not alone affect the kind of person they are. As to how they try their cases, attorney ethical codes require attorneys to zealously pursue their case for the benefit of their client to the extent the law allows (ABA). This means that if a defense attorney sees an opportunity for his client to be set free then he or she must use it because that is their job. It is the job of the prosecutor to assure the defense does not have those opportunities. Again, this does not reflect on the quality of their character. The same thing can also ... • 6. Proposition 2 Argumentative Analysis Proposition 2 explains that what someone does and how others view the actions one does in coordination with one another is closely tied to identities (Christiansen, 1999). Furthermore, Proposition 2 states that language, verbal or nonverbal, is an important influence on identities because one learns self awareness which then impacts how that person acts around others due to societal cues. For example, a child learns that a behavior is not acceptable due to language spoken to them through someone else s facial expressions, like a frown, or direct communication between the child and someone else. People learn how to act and how to set their goals in life by the experience of doing things that others will approve or disapprove of. 6. Discuss and provide an example of Proposition 3 and 4 from the Christiansen article. Proposition 3 explains that identities can impact someone s behavior and view on his or her life depending on how that person views an event that occurred in his or her life. Events can be looked at by examining if the event held a meaningful, personal experience to a person. Furthermore, this proposition explains that identities are socially interconnected to one another because someone s identity can positively or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the milky fluid has been cut from the poppy seed, it is then scraped off and set to air dry, producing what we know today as opium. The opium is then vigorously stirred in with a calcium solution and hot water and then is supposed to settle for a few hours. Once the opium has been settled, the top which contains the morphine is extracted from the rest of the liquid. The morphine residue is then dried which results in a brown morphine base. A chemical solution can be added at this time in addition with heat until the solution turns black. When cooled down and quenched with water, the impurities of the substance are removed. In a separate container, sodium carbonate is dissolved in water, then added to the morphine base solution to create a Heroin based solution. Worldwide, tobacco use causes more than 5 million deaths per year ( Fast Facts ) and this is a large number of smokers that should be decreased. In Egypt, there are 34, 000 deaths each year due smoking, according to the article Smoking in Egypt | Egypt Independent . However, the number of smokers in Egypt is increasing every day and especially among youth. AUC took a first step to protect its students from this danger by banning indoor smoking. AUC banned smoking10 feet from classrooms to maintain a healthier environment .However, it did not decrease the number of smokers on campus so AUC should ban smoking on campus. This essay will prove that smoking should be banned on the AUC campus for several reasons. Firstly, the number of smoking youth is increasing every day because Egypt is a smoking culture and they observe their parents smoking with few changes in health. Secondly, AUC should try to provide a healthier environment for the students and the working faculty because it is its responsibility. Thirdly, ban on smoking will set an example in Egypt to quit smoking and prevent others from this dangerous habit. Finally, AUC students are role models for the Egyptian people so they should become healthier to be more productive. When work is a duty, life is slavery, revealing how work can be defined in various ways, in which someone can define it in a positive way where others in a negative way. According to the Merriam Webster, work can be defined as a job or activity that you do regularly especially in order to earn money. The reality is whoever you ask would have different meanings for work according to the experience that they had. The community pattern we were studying was zonation on the rocky shore. Zonation is when an environmental factor changes, the distribution of species changes which results in the species being present in zones or bands. In this report I am going to talk about the Cellana denticulata limpet, the Cellana radian and the relationship between the two species. Species 1: Description: The Cellana denticulata is a limpet which belongs in the true limpet family. A true limpet is a small marine gastropod mollusc. The C denticulata is a mollusc due to it having a soft body with a hard shell. The shell of the C denticulata is a lot more elevated and bigger than other species of limpets with 20 30 strong ribs granulose and scaly. The colour of the shell can vary from a grey to brown colour. On the inside of the shell the C denticulata is a bluish whitey colour with darker streaks where the undersides of the ribs are. The C denticulata has a strong muscular foot on the underside of their body which allows it to suction itself onto the rock to prevent slipping or falling from the rock. This limits the movements of where the C denticulata can travel as they cannot move in large distances. This means when it comes to feeding the C denticulata doesn t travel very far. They are algae grazers, which graze when the tide is in by scraping the algae off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Celie was raped at the age of fourteen by her Stepfather and until she met Shug, her understanding of what sex is was pain. Celie shares in detail, He start to choke me, saying You better shut up and git used to it (1). Although Celie was raped at a young age, Shug tells Celie that she is still a virgin because unless you enjoy sex, you have not experienced the bliss of sex. As the story unfolds, Celie shares sexual moments with Shug, both enjoying the presence of the other. The other theme of The Color Purple is racism. It is obviously a huge part of the early 20th century and that is the time period in which the book takes place. Celie and her sister Nettie both relied heavily on each other and when Nettie heads south to Africa, Celie is defeated. The global assessment of biodiversity and the anthropogenic impacts on them should be an urgent priority for conservation biologists. Though overhunting, introduced species, habitat destruction, trophic cascades and climate change (evil quintet) are known to be the potential anthropogenic threats that are likely to drive extinctions in the future (Diamond 1984, Brook et al. 2008), more frequently, conservation biologists have focused their attention on visible threats like habitat destruction, in comparison with invisible threats like overhunting (Galetti Dirzo 2013). Traditional biodiversity assessments often ignore hunting pressure though they are aware of its presence, or classify into ways (e.g., heavy, moderate or low hunting) that are unsuitable for auditing by other researchers (Galetti Dirzo 2013). For example, what might be classified as heavy hunting pressure by one biologist can be classified as low hunting pressure by another. Moreover, also within the hunting classifications of a biologist, what is the difference between heavy, moderate and low hunting pressure? The use of different standards makes auditing of hunting pressure difficult. Here we ask how to measure the intensity of hunting pressure. Knowing this answer will help us better understand the effects of hunting on biodiversity loss and set conservation priorities more efficiently. I have problems with memorizing complicated and or important pieces of information; although when I learn through creating something, (for example, creating a picture having to do with moles, in order to learn about the chemistry unit moles) I m able to clearly picture and understand newly introduced concepts. This is why I believe it should be mandatory to require all students to create art in introduction to a new concept. Doing this would not only open up people s minds to art s influences, but it would also have a positive effect on the student s mental process as well. Studies show that arts integration goes beyond including art projects in class; it is a teaching strategy that seamlessly merges arts standards with core curricula to build connections and provide engaging context ( Nobori, Mariko; How the arts unlock the door to learning). Many other people have written about how the brain copes with learning through art, such as Mariko Norbori, a writer for and or creator of the website Edutopia. Norbori was able to visit Wiley H. When businesses make and keep promises, they see strong trust and respect across the organization. If they often make commitments but fail to keep them, people will see frustration and self starving behavior (Williams, 2013). Understanding The Core Variables That Affect Our Lives Essay Aging, although a quite evasive and rather frightening thought, is an inevitable process that occurs to every form of life, regardless of genetic makeup or origin, and it is a fundamental mechanism in which our universe/cosmos is able to fuel itself with and ultimately flourish on. It is simply invariable, in order for there to be creation and rebirth, there needs to be the set process that eventually leads to death and reconversion in a perpetual system/method of sustenance. Understanding the core variables that affect these processes are essential because they allow us to gain a deeper insight into what it means to age, both physically and mentally, but more importantly, how to live our current lives to ensure a happy, gratifying, and fuller existence. I am looking at my journey as I go through the course, and I am personally affected by resilience as a factor of people s lives. I was struck by this because the idea was not one which comes to my attention when thinking of trauma. What comes to mind is what takes place at the time of a traumatic event and the recovery aspect of it. The varied aspects of family history and resilience never entered the conversation about trauma which I carried on with myself. But after looking at the need for victims of traumatic events such as a mass shooting to get better after a traumatic event, it is reiterated over and over by research of well documented studies as to how a person s recovery progresses will depend on what resilience mechanisms have been laid down in their childhood for a given individual. • 48. Anne Bradstreet Influence Anne was the first poet of America. Her writing style reflected things and events that occurred during her lifetime. For her, writing poetry was an outlet for stress being that she was a Puritan and they did not allow women to be educated. Anne Bradstreet s poems directly reflected her emotions and how she processed the events around her. A lot of her poetry is sad and somber. Being that she is a Puritan she has a lot of biblical references in her poems. In The Flesh and the Spirit Anne takes these two objects and personifies them. She created an environment Where the Flesh and the Spirit where two sisters arguing, Spirit says, Sisters are we, yea, twins we be, yet deadly feud twixt thee and me; for one father are we not, thou by old Adam wast begot, (223) she tells the sister that their feud has not been resolved. Flesh took interest with earthly things while Spirit indulged in meditating and trying to get to heaven. Sprit mentions the old Adam part because the Puritans thought that man lost to sin after the fall of old Adam but then man was redeemed when Jesus was sacrificed. ... Though she says this at the end of the poem she lets readers know that she has not reconciled with her loss of possessions. Though it seems like she submitted to God, she stills feel sorrow because of her house burning down. Though Bradstreet is a Puritan and she has not lost her faith it does revel that she does have some emotion attachment to earthly things.
