Summary Of Amy Tan s Joy Luck Club
In the Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan magnifies the elements of how people view postmodernism and uses
her own depiction of the world to explore the connection between the Chinese mothers and their
daughters. Throughout Tan s novel, Joy Luck Club utilizes fragmentation, the breakdown of plot,
character and themes into small or separate parts by connecting four main sections told from the
viewpoint of four Chinese mothers and their Chinese American daughter s. All of which sections
revolve around the theme of making sense of their identities, influenced by the generation gaps and
relationships between between the Chinese parents and their children. Through this message, Tan
offers the reader an understanding of the Chinese historical context by combining these sections from
different perspectives through the usage of a postmodern convention that challenges the boundaries
between traditional thinking and modernism. Throughout her novel, Tan exploits the aspects of
fragmentation, to explore the novel s search for identity, while highlighting differences between the
cultures of America and China. When comparing China to America, arranged marriages were common
practice especially for families to rise in power or money; in contrast, this practice is absent in
American culture. Those affected by this practice, felt unhappy with their loveless marriages because
they were unable to make their own decisions. Before Lindo Jong had moved to America, she found
herself in this similar

Communication Problems In Communication
Communication is the art of conveying/passing information from one party (sender) through a
communication medium to another party (receiver). In people s everyday interactions, they may come
across some challenges when trying to convey a specific information / message. In the workplace,
such challenges are even more severe. This leads to an obstruction in communication. Such
obstructions can further lead to misinterpretation of a message. Finding out several problems of
communication and their suggested solutions is the essence of this paper. Basic communication
theories such as attribution theory, agenda setting theory, cognitive dissonance theory, cultivation
theory, organisational culture theory, etc. The causes of these communication problems, their effect,
theories that apply to them and proffered solutions will be considered in this paper. Communication
problems occur both in personal interactions and in the work place. Whichever the case, the effects are
always hurtful. Some common examples of communication problems are;
1.) Language barriers A diverse work place has several advantages to a business, such as variety of
solutions to company issues and insight into international markets during expansion. However, the
language barrier that can sometimes occur in a diverse work place, or any work place, may become a
communication problem. There might be language barriers between people of different ethnic
backgrounds, people of different ages and people with different levels of industry experience. Any
language barrier is going to slow communication or create misunderstandings that make ineffective
communication. An example of this communication problem is when a manager of a department is
experiencing language barriers with a core staff. The consequence of this is that business plans, targets
and goals cannot be adequately communicated. In the same vein, results and achievements can also
not be properly communicated. Shannon, Claude and Elwood (1948) mathematical theory of
communication . (Tagar, 2003).
2.) Personal issues Effective communication in a work place or otherwise is based on professional
correspondence designed to assist in the daily operation of the company or the continued growth

lesson to everyone. The quality of the film is strongly aided by a strong script. The film makers should
be commended for resisting the temptation to overload the werewolf character with special effects and
take the classic make up look instead. The director of this movie should be commended for instilling
his subject matter with enough dramatic intensity to appeal to an adult demographic without forgetting
the primary intent of such a film to thrill and chill the audiences in turn. Jack Nicholson should be
applauded for taking his subject matter seriously and emerged with a perfectly tuned performance. He
channels his legendary charisma into an entirely credible character, riddled with pathos and dark
menace easily dispelling fears that his facial prosthetics might be laughable to the viewers. As for
James Spader, he did a wonderful part

Influence Of Florence
How did florence gain leadership of Renaissance?
The Renaissance (Rebirth) declined throughout most of the Europe. The renaissance is an Italian idea,
and the Italian Renaissance generally covers the periods from the beginning of the 14th century to the
end of the 16th century. And florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
The artistic and economic changes that are associated with the Renaissance, first began in the
Florence. Trade, crusades and the expansion of commerce in city states (11th and 12th centuries
)helped florence a lot in economy. Geography also made florence a model of Renaissance culture
because it was central Italy, agriculture thrived in tuscany and Lombardy and Florence conquered Pisa
in 1406 (access to sea , expansion of trade)

They studied the writings and works of the Greeks and the Romans and realized that earlier
civilizations had lived differently. This new way of thinking was called Humanism. The defining

education. They supported studying grammar, poetry, and history, as well as mathematics, astronomy,

less concerned with the thinking of the past. The Florentine people were very proud of their form of
government in the early 15th century. A place that respects the opinions of individuals, and

Corey Clement Research Paper
It s been an exciting ride for Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Corey Clement. Clement, a
Glassboro, N.J. native, was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Wisconsin last spring and
had to work diligently to get a spot on the team. Now the former Glassboro High star will be headed to
U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. to face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII on
Sunday, Feb.4. Clement, a 5 foot 10, 220 pounder, is really thrilled to be making the trip to Minnesota
after helping the Eagles crush the Vikings, 38 7, to capture the NFC championship at Lincoln

spectacular touchdown by wide receiver Torrey Smith. It was the flea flicker. Eagles quarterback Nick
Foles handed the ball off to Clement who took a couple of steps and then pitched it back to Foles who
threw a 41 yard scoring strike to Smith. I got to thank Duce Staley [Eagles running back coach] for
allowing me to go out there and do that, Clement said. It s not just a play that you just let a rookie do

The Defense Of Defense Health Agency Essay
The Department of Defense has multiple components supporting our nation with servicemen,
servicewomen, and their dependents around the world and in support of the United States of America.
The healthcare of these individuals is a critical mission for the United States of America. There was a
time in recent history that each component of the United States of America military was the
responsibility of each component of the armed services. Recently the United States of America
determined that the health care of the service members and their families need a centralized health
care agency. On October 1, 2013, the Defense Health Agency was established. This research paper
will discuss the primary role and purpose of the Defense Health Agency and how it performs the
critical mission of serving the health needs of the Department of Defense. Company Description The
Defense Health Agency is a multi service, integrated military agency that enables the Army, Navy, and
Air Force to provide medical services and medically ready force to Combatant Commands in both

Abstract
The coach client relationship is the heart of all life coaching processes. Whether it involves executive
coaching, leadership, marriage or financial coaching without a client to serve, a coach cannot fulfill
his or her purpose. Hence, knowing how to effectively build relationships with people is fundamental
to being a successful life coach. This research paper will explore the dynamics of the coaching
relationship as it relates to factors, such as commonalities and compatibilities, which influence the
development and maintenance of effective relationships, as well as components that are critical to the

Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major
source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits can be
used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility refers to the
appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the characteristics the client and
coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p.
916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with clients based on their styles of behavior and
similar personalities are more likely to have a healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if
a mismatched coaching relationship continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s
perspectives, which can result in higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010).
Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and Neal
(2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet client needs
and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility involve the coach
s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients expect coaches to
follow through on their word. With time, this ultimately forms the client s

Cross Cultural Communication And The Classroom
Cross Cultural Communication The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself [Shaw]. Internalize this quote begs the question, can
education make a difference? This paper will examine in detail cross cultural communication, a
cultural issue that educators must seek to address in the delivery of teaching to English Language
Learners (ELL) classroom. Moreover, the ensuing paper will analyze the problems of cross cultural
communication in the classroom of ELL; this will be followed by its relation to the theories and
application of those methods. On the other hand, the writer will outline the effects of cross cultural
communication, and how these effects can be changed into a social value through education.
Examination of Cross Cultural Communication in the Classroom Instruction and assessment are
delivered through the medium of communication, while resolution of behavioral problems involve
communication. Significantly, in a classroom with ELL/LEP learners, the job of the teacher is not only
to teach but to be a mediator between the different cultures represented in the class. What teachers
must realize is that an environment that is filled with cultural tension does not lend itself to learning.
Therefore, administrators/educators must recognize cross cultural communication as essential in the
learning environment. Collier and Powell (1990), posits ethnic background influences the way
students define the

Life in Navy Boot Camp

It was a warm summer evening as I packed for Navy Boot Camp. I carefully went down the list of
things I could take and ensured I didn t have anything else. A little nervous I went to talk to my
parents about my move to becoming my own man. I looked at their faces and could tell that although
they were proud they were a little nervous about their only son leaving home for the first time. My
mom tried to smile but she was proud yet nervous because I had always been her little guy so she was
having a hard time letting go. After a short conversation with my parents I decided to try and rest for

The first night I can honestly say I missed my folks and at one point wanted to cry but I pushed on. I
knew I had to do this for me and them, I had to show myself first and them second that I had what it
took to make it.
Day two and forward we woke up at 4 am with yelling and screaming that we had 15 minutes to
shower, shave and get in line for physical training and breakfast. Everything was 15 to 20 minutes
including eating; you learn to eat real quickly. Training was tough but as the weeks went on it got
easier. Then around week 4 we had to swim, I was never a strong swimmer so I was nervous but I
made it through. Around week five it seemed they got a little easier and then explained that the
toughness was to help us rely on each other and build the necessary teamwork within us all.
As time went on we had learned the entire Chain of Command, proper Navy rules and how to properly
wear all the uniforms and the seasonal changes for whites and blues. As the 8th week came we got
ready for graduation. Everyone was ready to show their parents how much they had grown up in the
last two months. Part of growing up was proper grooming, making our beds and being responsible and
accountable for each other.
Some of the guys in my company sat around the night before talking about some of the hard times in

Advantages Of Talk And Chalk Teaching Method
PART 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
This section will discuss about the teaching strategy employed by the teacher in teaching Accountings
to the secondary school students. The Talk and Chalk teaching method will also be discussed.
1.2 Background to the Study
Rena (2010) informed that the UNESCO commissioned Report 2009 commented that Talk and Chalk
teaching method may not be appropriate to prepare students to move into the 21st Century. Gatto
(1999) commented that the traditional teaching is inappropriate, teacher centered with no opportunity
for students to learn problem solving skills and to experience the real world situation. Abd. Aziz
(2013) believed that too much emphasis on the pen and papers will result in students being able to do
well in written work but weak in communication skills. Hence, good grades do not reflect that ...

The aim of this study is to establish the challenges of teaching financial accounting in secondary
schools. The result showed that only 25 36 percent of the students in the 9 schools obtained a credit
and others are either failures or ordinary pass. It was recommended to use guided discovery in order to
teach effectively. Guided learning is the teaching of concept in an orderly manner from general to
specific.
Cantrell (2004) suggested that there are two different teaching methods to teach financial accounting
and they are exposition and inquiry. The exposition method is considered to be the conventional way
which involves leader centered, leader active, learner passive and content emphasis. Some of the
examples are lecture, traditional demonstration, discussion, panel discussion, guest speaker,
storytelling, reading of textbooks, drama and handouts or manuals. While the inquiry method is
characterized as leader facilitated, learner centered, leader facilitated, learner active and learning

Beethoven and Tchaikovsky
Beethoven and Tchaikovsky
While Ludwig van Beethoven and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky have much in common, they also have
many differences. Both men are famous for their orchestral compositions and their future influence on
other composers. They experienced a blend of horrible failures and great successes. Although they
were from different musical time periods, they both made huge contributions to the world of music.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany 1770; the second half of the classical period.
After the death of his grandfather, who was also named Ludwig van Beethoven, the family was on a
downward slope financially. As far as physical appearances are concerned, young Beethoven looked

Perhaps I shall get better, perhaps not; I am ready.
1819 is the year in which his hearing was thoroughly depleted. He could no longer play the piano
virtuously and had to communicate by text. As a result, he spent a majority of his time composing.
Beethoven would sketch out his compositions in a book. These books have been maintained and it is
evident that he would work on several pieces at once. During this time, his compositions ranged from
simple melodies to more elaborate and edited works. In 1804 Beethoven completed his Third
Symphony. This piece was originally a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, but when Beethoven found that
Napoleon was proclaimed an emperor he deleted the dedication. At this point in his life, Beethoven
seriously considered marriage. His first love was for a woman named Giulietta Guicciardi. When this
relationship eventually broke, he sought the hand of Giulietta s cousin, Josephine. The bond between
them broke and the engagement was ended. Beethoven s final attempt with a woman was with his
doctor s daughter, Therese Malfatti. As is expected, this relationship also failed and Beethoven
reached the final part of his life as a bachelor. The rate and quality of his compositions slowed and he
became more and more isolated. Another depressing and negative event in Beethoven s life took place
in 1815. His brother died. Caspar Anton Carl left behind a son and a widow and instructed

Functional Group Decision Making
Functional Group Decision Making(FDM)
Definition
FDM answers the basic question asked by the developers of this theory. Their question is as follows.
Why do some groups make good decisions while others make bad ones? Their model argues that the
answer to this question has to do with whether the group has successfully accomplished four
functions, which they call requisite functions (pg.141). The four functions of this theory are problem
analysis, goal setting, identify alternatives, and evaluate and select. Problem analysis is when the
group focuses on the nature, extent and likely causes of the problem. This requires the group to be
careful when differentiating between problems and the symptoms of the problems. Goal setting is
when the group identifies what an ideal solution would look like. The group decides what elements are
necessary and what elements are ideal but not necessary. Identifying alternatives is when the group
generates a large number of possible solutions. This is when the group wants to brainstorm as many
possible solutions, no matter what the quality of the solution is. Finally, evaluate and select is when
the group evaluate each alternative using the established goals.
Examples From The Film
Goal setting is the first example that I found in the film. I saw this when the foreman says what the
goal of the jury is and what is needed for the guilty or not guilty verdict. I saw that one of the jurors
used problem analysis. This was when the juror started

My Interview By Thomas Travers, A, New Jersey And Worked...
My interview was with Thomas Travers, a Technical Specialist that lives in Wharton, New Jersey and
worked at Tiffany and Co. for 18 years. When Mr. Travers started to work for Tiffany and Co. back in
1998, he had to be familiarized with the IBM AS/400, which is a midrange computer that is now in the
IBM Iseries. On the IBM AS/400 he worked with tools and languages such as RPG, CL, and qm
query, which are used to bundle a bunch of queries that are in SQL. He also used operating system
commands and RPG programs on the AS/400 to be able to put all the objects in a CL. He has also
worked with SQL Server, C# and .NET programming for front end development and business
applications. Since Mr. Travers works on different projects and different parts of the technical aspect
of Tiffany and Co. , his typical workday fluctuates in what kind of work he does and how much of a
workload there is. Recently, as far as when the interview was taken, he and his team were at the end of
development on a large project that has been in the works for about two years. They were going to go
live with it the week after the interview took place. What this meant for Mr. Travers to do during that
time was to go through the project and to make sure that there are no bugs in the programming and to
get every part set up and ready for execution before the deadline. Once deadline arrives, he will start

Bilingual Is The New Black
Bilingual is the New Black
Today we live in an increasingly globalized world. In the United States alone over 60 million people
speak a language other than English when at home (Speaking in Tongues). While most schools require
at least two year of foreign language, this is not really enough to familiarize yourself with a language.
It would not only be in the students best interest to do this, but also the schools as it increases
academic achievement. It also improves your cognitive functions and benefits society. All of these
factors led me to this conclusion: everyone should take at least four years worth of foreign language
classes. Many Americans argue that because English is quickly becoming the global language,
Americans should not have to learn other languages. They are operating under the following
pretenses: there wouldn t possibly be anyone we would want to communicate with that does not speak
English already, other countries should teach their citizens a second language (English) so that they
can communicate with us, and learning another language is only beneficially if it directly influences
us gaining more opportunities. These biases are misguided. Learning another language will benefit
you for your entire life. It will help you through school, improve your mind permanently, and create
opportunities for you and society. Don t conform to the American stereotype. Trust me, it is worth
your while to learn a foreign language. Learning a second language begins

Mixed Methodology in the Field of Educational Research Essay

Quantitative research is considered to be the use of numbers. In the use of a quantitative study, the
researcher test objective theories by examining the conjunction among variables. The variables used
can be measured on instruments, so that numbered data can be used and analyzed (Creswell, 2008).
Qualitative research is mainly used to explore and understand human or social problems. The process
of qualitative studies includes questions and procedures; and the data is collected byway of participant
s settings. It allows the researcher to study an issue in great detail and depth, as well as not allowing
data collection to be constrained by predetermined data. Mixed methods research combines
quantitative and qualitative methods and it involves philosophical assumptions. This form of study
includes collecting and analyzing data from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. It is believed
that mixed methods research is a great method for practicing researchers who would like to bridge the
schism between quantitative and qualitative research (Onwuegbuzie Leech, 2004a). Even though these
methods are different, they all involve philosophical assumptions and distinct methods or procedures
(Cresswell, 2009). For many years, researchers used two forms of research paradigms, which were

Emotion in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
In his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot subtly conveys a wide variety of Prufrock
s emotions; he creates pathos for the speaker by employing the objective correlative, which Eliot
defines as a set of objects, a situation, a chain of events [that] shall be the formula of that particular
emotion ( Hamlet and His Problems ).
The first stanza introduces Prufrock s isolation, as epitomized metaphorically by half deserted streets
(4): while empty streets imply solitude, Eliot s diction emphasize Prufrock having been abandoned by
the other half needed for a relationship or an argument (8). Hoping for a companion, Prufrock speaks

The eyes (55) and arms (62) that Prufrock claims to have known are synecdoches for women; since he
does not say he is familiar with their hearts, which would metaphorically imply experience with their
love, Prufrock only knows women physically. He gives one explanation for this by noting the perfume
and dress (65) that make him digress (66) from presumably his goal: instead of fostering relationships,
Prufrock focuses on sexual/sensual aspects. In spite of this, Eliot provides insight to Prufrock desiring

Eliot explains Prufrock s isolation by hinting at the man s anxiety. When Prufrock says, There will be
time to murder and create, (29), he likely refers to the elimination of possibilities and the
manifestation of a consequent situation and/or problem; he could refer to, for example, how best to
use the time before...toast and tea (34), meaning breakfast, i.e. a night. Copulating would murder the
opportunity of talking all night and could create a problem in the form of an illegitimate child, while
sleeping would eliminate any options, thus forcing Prufrock to

My First Experience On Wordpress
During the course of this module I became familiar with a plethora of interfaces including WordPress,
ImgFlip, Giphy, Instagram, and Buzzfeed. With each interface, I had to adapt my own knowledge and
understanding to find success within it. Interfaces are rather diverse. These are the programs in which
people navigate through in the digital world. WordPress is an interface people can utilize to develop a
website revolving around their own interests and ideas. This all gets a little more complicated when
we throw Interface Literacy into the mix. Interface Literacy is the ability to take any previous
understanding and know how you may have to successfully develop that amongst a multitude of other
mediums.
During the class, we had to take what we learned about certain genres and interfaces and created blog
posts on WordPress to discuss those ideas. This was my first experience on this site. Truthfully, I was
intimidated by this interface. It took me about twenty minutes to figure out how to discard that sample
blog post they give to every new user. After that, it took another 20 minutes to figure out how to post
my first blog effectively. Don t even ask me how I figured out how to change the theme of my site. I m
still not entirely sure how it worked out. Despite all of these mishaps, I struggled through and
successfully posted the five required blogs for the module. Interface literacy begins with what you
already know, but it develops with the struggle through

The King Who Was Well Bred Rose And Went To Meet Her Analysis
Consider the word see in line 606, as Lanval s love enters the room she is immediately noticed. This
prompt response to her entrance straightaway reveals the implications of her beauty and the
importance it has on Lanval s trial along with the male relation the females in this time period. Women
are objectified to a certain extent yet also essential to the inner workings of society. This can also be
observed in the context of this passage due to the fact that the queen made the accusations against
Lanval and though they were lies the extensive reach of her authority is notable. Also consider the line
607 The king who was well bred rose and went to meet her (166). This line directly relates aspects of
the chivalric code to a woman s beauty due to the fact that the king was well bred he did not make her

While at the same time as exemplifying masculinity through chivalry this line also begins the
subversion of gender roles by putting the woman in the more dominant position she is now in control
of this situation. In the following line it is stated that all the others honored her and offered to serve
her (166). The use of the verbs honor and offer are direct effects of the way they see her which
continues to implicate the importance of her beauty while also putting her in a dominant role. This is
emphasized once again in lines 611 612 When they had looked at her well, when they greatly praised
her beauty (166). This is another instance in which a verb, praised, is a direct result of seeing her
beauty. This direct relation between such verbs and her presence helps to demonstrate her force and
impact as a woman along with her characterization as a sovereign being. In lines 613 614 it is stated
that she spoke in this way, she didn t want to wait

Statutory Frameworks, Code Of Practice And Guidance...
In order to maintain the quality and high customer satisfaction rate in many service provisions,
managing complaint is the essential part which makes no exemption in health and social care setting.
There are many statutory frameworks, code of practice and guidance regulating the service provision
in health and social care setting. The local Authority Social Service and National Health Service
(England) Complains regulation 2009 (amendments) is the statutory regulation provide guidance on
local authority in terms of how to manage complain. The Local authority here refers local council, and
the National Health Service refers national public hospitals in the England. In the amendments the
regulation not only set out frameworks for Pharmaceutical Services, General Dental Services
Contracts and General Medical Services Contracts; and as part of health and social care setting the
independent provider are also included to implement the regulations on how to handling complaints in
their service provision. Furthermore, according to the regulation responsible body has to have
arrangements for the handling and consideration of complaints and to point responsible person to
ensure the effective implement of the regulation in the service provision. As result of the regulation,
big independent organisation like us has to have complaint policy in place to ensure the service user to
raise concerns and complaint and the registered home manager will be the person to be responsible

Comparing Two Careers
Two careers that would be suitable for me would be either an Information Security Analyst or a
physician. Both careers are very successful and have a lot of credibility.
A physician will diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and other disorders. They also work to promote
good health and prevent illness. Most physicians have their own practices or are in partner group
practices. To become a physician you will have to get a bachelor degree in sciences, such as chemistry
or biology. In every state physicians much be licensed and requirements vary. Employment of
physicians is expected to grow because health care industries are continuing to expand. Physicians
need high intelligence, good health, and self discipline which is the qualities I have.

J. M. Barrie s Peter Pan
Peter Pan, a play written by J.M. Barrie, follows a poor family of five: the workaholic Mr. Darling, the
loving Mrs. Darling, and their children Wendy, John, and Michael. One night, the children are lured to
Neverland by Peter Pan, the boy who refuses to grow up. In Neverland, the children are met with
dangerous adventures and are constantly pursued by Pan s nemesis Captain Hook. But over time, the
children begin to miss their family and decide to return home. In Peter Pan, Barrie uses the similarities
between Peter Pan and Mr. Darling, as well as Peter Pan and Captain Hook, to highlight that Peter Pan
is not a real entity, but a construction of eternal youth created by the adult desire to preserve childhood
forever.

Darling, that the desire to be a child forever is not only Peter Pan s wish, but the wish of adults as
well. Jacqueline Rose went so far as to say Peter Pan offers us the child for ever. It gives us the child,
but it does not speak to the child (58). When Rose says us she is referring to adults. It is the adult that
wants Peter Pan to stay young forever, not the child. Although Peter explicitly states, I want always to
be a little boy and to have fun there follows a parenthetical, so perhaps he thinks, but it is only his
greatest pretend (1354). The parenthetical suggests that perhaps this eternity in childhood is not
actually Peter s desire, but a lie he has invented to stay young forever. The question then becomes
why. The answer is revealed in Hook s heartbreak at Pan s loss of his memories (1351). Hook
embodies the fear of adults, the fear of the ticking clock. However, Hook is unable to escape the
crocodile of time, so he attempts to live forever through Peter Pan s memory, but he is ultimately
unsuccessful. Peter s inability to remember Hook symbolizes the moving of time, a childhood Hook
can never go back to and an immortality he can never attain. By overlapping the characters of Hook
and Mr. Darling onto Peter Pan, Barrie both erases the child while simultaneously creating an artificial
eternal childhood constructed by and for

A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Naveen Penmetsa
University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309
C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket
engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine
including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines.
Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these
variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine
itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important
to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these
oscillations.
In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are
low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a
high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to
the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and
transversely.
Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability
Overview
The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly
affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of

The Pros And Cons Of Quebec Nationalism
When you hear the term Quebec Nationalism, what do you think of? A province that has a distinct
language and culture, or one that wishes to separate from Canada, or both? The issue I would like to
talk about is Quebec nationalism, is it compatible or incompatible with a pan Canadian nationalism, or
multiculturalism and should they or should they not separate from Canada. In my opinion, while not
experiencing French Canadian life, although another of my family members has, I feel that Quebec
Nationalism is not compatible with the rest of Canada, but we are the only thing they have, and if
Canada lets them go, they will not have enough resources politically, monetarily, or military, since
most of this is supplied to Quebec from the rest of Canada. Since Quebec s defeat in the Rebellion of
1837, many Quebecois feel that they have been subject to Anglophone domination from the rest of
Canada (Lamrick, 2015). Many of the French speaking citizens are also not willing to be compatible
with the rest of Canada s multicultural society. There is no reason, though, to throw all the other
willing French Canadians that want to be compatible under the bus. ... Show more content on

What Is Catch Me If You Can Film Techniques
In the film Catch Me If You Can, by Steven Spielberg, Carl Hanratty, is an FBI agent on the chase for
Frank Abagnale Jr. In this scene, he finds out Frank is hiding in a small town in France at a factory
writing himself cheques. He then convinces Frank to handcuff himself and turn himself into the french
officers. During this scene, Spielberg uses four main film techniques to create a theme and moods.
These techniques are, cinematography, editing, colour and lighting, and sound. Spielberg uses these
four techniques to create a mood and build suspense. The use of these techniques links to the theme
that Frank s actions will eventually have consequences because the director is making the audience
believe that Frank could get caught, meaning Frank s actions will have consequences.
The first film technique spielberg successfully uses is cinematography. Specifically, he uses close up
shots on Frank and Carl s face during their conversation about whether Carl is telling the truth and
then swears on his daughter s life. During these close ups, there is a good use of camera movement by
zooming even further into their faces. The use of this technique gives a strong effect on the audience
by showing the seriousness and emotion in the characters faces. It also shows the tension and suspense
in the room. This shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

will catch up with you, and throughout the film, appearances can be deceiving. Overall, throughout
Frank s arrest scene in Catch Me If You Can, Spielberg uses a combination of close up shots, low key
into high key lighting, a series of short cuts during Frank and Carl s dialogue, and background non
diegetic sound to help develop a suspenseful, tense mood, as well as create an emotional connection
between Frank and the

The Impact that Physical Education Can Have on Encouraging...
One of the definitions of Physical Education is; regular instruction in physical exercise and games in
schools and other institutions (Oxford English Dictionary). It is compulsory in the UK for every child
up to the age of 16. Physical Education has been adapted immensely to fit the needs of young people
and is still continuing to change. There are an increasing number of young people leading sedentary
lifestyles by watching television instead of doing physical activity (British Heart Foundation, 2012).
In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about the impact that PE can
have on encouraging young people to engage in physical activity.

From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education have
been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on
competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike
the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This
wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete
and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was
launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the
amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. Some would say that the 4th
NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys and 16% of girls aged 2 15 were classified as
obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and 15% of girls aged 2 15 were seen as obese
(Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet England, 2009 and 2011). This slight decrease could
be down to the change in the type of activities offered in school although it may not be the only factor.
Giving young people the opportunity to set personal goals rather than basing everything around
competition would promote life long participation in physical activity as they will get a sense of
achievement from completing that specific goal. However, this focus on health and

The Configuration Of Wings Wing
To acquire some perspective and information on the current flapping wing MAVs, it is useful to
investigate the existing product that has been completed by a variety of research groups, companies
and personal maker. Depending on distinct different size, flapping wing air vehicles (ornithopers) can
be differentiated into two groups, MAVs and full size ornithopters. The first group, as mentioned is the
vehicles with dimensions less than 0.2m. The second group is relevant to large vehicles. The concerns
of size limitations have intensively correlations with flapping mechanisms. The flapping mechanism is
the primary issue and technique in flapping MAVs because it is used to convert the rotary motioin into

Utilization of bending, a pin, torsion springs and follower assembly is to control pitching motion. A
picture can be seen in Figure 2.10. The second style is a front mounted double pushrod mechanism,
also called four bar linkage (FBL) mechanism [25]. A motor connects gears assembly that increase
flapping force while reducing flapping rate. Two pushrods with fixed length are connected to each
flapping spar, thus driving the wing doing up and down motion through pinned connections. Because
of the pinned connections, only the vertical component of motion is transferred from the drive
mechanism. This mechanism is extensively used due to its simplicity, light weight and ease of part
replacement. Figure 2.11 shows the Chung Hua University flapping MAV applied the FBL mechanism
[29]. The following one is a flapping wing UAV design and has been flew successfully in actual,
which is designed by DeLaurier et al. [26]. Similar to the others, this mechanism converts rotation to
translation. The working procedure is a motor connected with a system of gears by conveyer belts.
While the motor is running, the mechanism is driven in an up and down motion and transport the
motion to two parallel posts. The output of the two posts is converted to a centre section of wing
which is connected to both wings in a hinge. Frequencies in the range of 3 5 Hz have been discovered
in this mechanism [26]. 3. Summary Since a

This delay is called the incubation period. Most organisms take up temporary residencies in the
intestines, while others produce toxins that can get into the blood stream; these are the most severe
cases of foodborne illness. This is why food safety is imperative to this experiment. Everything must
be at the proper temperature to be consumed. If it is not, then the outcome will not be good. I will take
every measure possible to make sure that everything is correct. So why would these foods spoil if they
weren t refrigerated? Pathogenic bacteria grows rapidly in temperatures above 4.4°C (40°F). This type
of bacteria does not affect the smell, taste, or appearance of the food, making it difficult to determine
whether or not the pathogens are present. By refrigerating foods at the correct temperature, you are
eliminating the chances of these harmful pathogens growing in your food and contaminating them. For
example, if you accidentally left a jug of milk on the counter overnight it would become warm and
develop a rancid odor. If you were to drink it, the chances of you getting a foodborne illness would be
high considering that the harmful pathogens had time to grow. Spoilage bacteria can also grow at low
temperatures, however they cause foods to develop disgusting odors and appearances. Most people
would not choose to eat these foods, but if they did they would most likely not become ill. If I were

Lab Report On The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On...
Introduction
The purpose of this lab report is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity
as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several concentrations to
produce oxygen. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration would decrease
the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present on it, sowing an increase in
enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be an effect on catalase activity
from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time for the paper circle to ride to
the top of the solution.
Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by decreasing
the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this 10^8 to 10^10 fold,
sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will momentarily bind with
the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of the substrate is
complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with. There are two main
theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model and induced fit theory.
The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that fits the substrate and only
that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate are able to change shape or
distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper,

Essay On Society In Jane Eyre
In the beginning of her life Jane s place in society and her inability to be happy because of such deeply
trouble her. Jane goes through a multitude of stages and places in life trying to find somewhere she
feels safe and morally sound so that she may allow herself in order to experience happiness. It is often
through introspection and observation of society that Jane comes into herself and develops the
principles and sensibility that she actively searched for to find peace and make sense of the world as a
child.
At a young Jane observes that beauty and status warrant kindness and in society which translates to a
woman being slightly freer to have desires. Prominent examples in her life at the time were Eliza and
Georgiana Reed who were able to be horrible little girls but were still doted upon by the adults and
expected to lead carefree happy lives. Because Jane so greatly differs from the two, being a poor
orphaned dependent of the family, she is regarded without kindness and love for the majority of her
time at Gateshead. Jane in childhood at Gateshead is reactive she regards herself prisoner to a life that
been detailed to her by members of the Reed family. It is perceived that all she is allowed in life is
misery because of her impoverished situation in society. As an impulsive child Jane wants nothing
more than to rebel against all whom try to put her in her place instead of giving her the love and care a
family should provide. It is only after Jane s psyche and

What Is Cultural Relativism
1. Cultural relativism relies on social ideals to dictate whether or not something is morally right or
wrong while ethical subjectivism that truth moral standard are dictated by each individual. These
forms of moral skepticism are completely inconsistent with ethical objectivism since it views moral as
something completely untouched by any beliefs, desires, and will.
3. Ethical subjectivism makes us morally infallible by making morality in the eye of the beholder,
which pretty much would lead us to believe that every individual is morally right. But this is simply
cannot be true since that would mean that an individual s thinking could be based off bias, prejudice,
ignorance, etc. and still not be mistaken.
5. Some would say that ethical subjectivism would generate contradictions and they would be correct.
Two individuals could agree and disagree respectively on whether or not New Jersey is on the east
coast, but then those theories would be inconsistent and contradict each other. But luckily for the
subjectivist, they found the perfect comeback for this critique, making it morally impossible to
disagree with anyone in the process. A subjectivist can say that they personally do ... Show more

There are two types of moral nihilism: error theory and expressivism. Error theory is the theory where

Expressivists also believe that while moral judgement might look like they are moral facts, but really
those judgements are just us expressing emotions, showing our approval or disapproval in something.

  • 2. Summary Of Amy Tan s Joy Luck Club In the Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan magnifies the elements of how people view postmodernism and uses her own depiction of the world to explore the connection between the Chinese mothers and their daughters. Throughout Tan s novel, Joy Luck Club utilizes fragmentation, the breakdown of plot, character and themes into small or separate parts by connecting four main sections told from the viewpoint of four Chinese mothers and their Chinese American daughter s. All of which sections revolve around the theme of making sense of their identities, influenced by the generation gaps and relationships between between the Chinese parents and their children. Through this message, Tan offers the reader an understanding of the Chinese historical context by combining these sections from different perspectives through the usage of a postmodern convention that challenges the boundaries between traditional thinking and modernism. Throughout her novel, Tan exploits the aspects of fragmentation, to explore the novel s search for identity, while highlighting differences between the cultures of America and China. When comparing China to America, arranged marriages were common practice especially for families to rise in power or money; in contrast, this practice is absent in American culture. Those affected by this practice, felt unhappy with their loveless marriages because they were unable to make their own decisions. Before Lindo Jong had moved to America, she found herself in this similar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Communication Problems In Communication Communication is the art of conveying/passing information from one party (sender) through a communication medium to another party (receiver). In people s everyday interactions, they may come across some challenges when trying to convey a specific information / message. In the workplace, such challenges are even more severe. This leads to an obstruction in communication. Such obstructions can further lead to misinterpretation of a message. Finding out several problems of communication and their suggested solutions is the essence of this paper. Basic communication theories such as attribution theory, agenda setting theory, cognitive dissonance theory, cultivation theory, organisational culture theory, etc. The causes of these communication problems, their effect, theories that apply to them and proffered solutions will be considered in this paper. Communication problems occur both in personal interactions and in the work place. Whichever the case, the effects are always hurtful. Some common examples of communication problems are; 1.) Language barriers A diverse work place has several advantages to a business, such as variety of solutions to company issues and insight into international markets during expansion. However, the language barrier that can sometimes occur in a diverse work place, or any work place, may become a communication problem. There might be language barriers between people of different ethnic backgrounds, people of different ages and people with different levels of industry experience. Any language barrier is going to slow communication or create misunderstandings that make ineffective communication. An example of this communication problem is when a manager of a department is experiencing language barriers with a core staff. The consequence of this is that business plans, targets and goals cannot be adequately communicated. In the same vein, results and achievements can also not be properly communicated. Shannon, Claude and Elwood (1948) mathematical theory of communication . (Tagar, 2003). 2.) Personal issues Effective communication in a work place or otherwise is based on professional correspondence designed to assist in the daily operation of the company or the continued growth ... The director of this movie should be commended for instilling his subject matter with enough dramatic intensity to appeal to an adult demographic without forgetting the primary intent of such a film to thrill and chill the audiences in turn. Jack Nicholson should be applauded for taking his subject matter seriously and emerged with a perfectly tuned performance. He channels his legendary charisma into an entirely credible character, riddled with pathos and dark menace easily dispelling fears that his facial prosthetics might be laughable to the viewers. As for James Spader, he did a wonderful part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits can be used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility refers to the appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the characteristics the client and coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p. 916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with clients based on their styles of behavior and similar personalities are more likely to have a healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if a mismatched coaching relationship continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s perspectives, which can result in higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010). Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and Neal (2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet client needs and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility involve the coach s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients expect coaches to follow through on their word. Significantly, in a classroom with ELL/LEP learners, the job of the teacher is not only to teach but to be a mediator between the different cultures represented in the class. Day two and forward we woke up at 4 am with yelling and screaming that we had 15 minutes to shower, shave and get in line for physical training and breakfast. Everything was 15 to 20 minutes including eating; you learn to eat real quickly. Training was tough but as the weeks went on it got easier. Then around week 4 we had to swim, I was never a strong swimmer so I was nervous but I made it through. Around week five it seemed they got a little easier and then explained that the toughness was to help us rely on each other and build the necessary teamwork within us all. As time went on we had learned the entire Chain of Command, proper Navy rules and how to properly wear all the uniforms and the seasonal changes for whites and blues. As the 8th week came we got ready for graduation. Everyone was ready to show their parents how much they had grown up in the last two months. Part of growing up was proper grooming, making our beds and being responsible and accountable for each other. • 12. Beethoven and Tchaikovsky Beethoven and Tchaikovsky While Ludwig van Beethoven and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky have much in common, they also have many differences. Both men are famous for their orchestral compositions and their future influence on other composers. They experienced a blend of horrible failures and great successes. Although they were from different musical time periods, they both made huge contributions to the world of music. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany 1770; the second half of the classical period. After the death of his grandfather, who was also named Ludwig van Beethoven, the family was on a downward slope financially. Perhaps I shall get better, perhaps not; I am ready. 1819 is the year in which his hearing was thoroughly depleted. He could no longer play the piano virtuously and had to communicate by text. As a result, he spent a majority of his time composing. Beethoven would sketch out his compositions in a book. These books have been maintained and it is evident that he would work on several pieces at once. During this time, his compositions ranged from simple melodies to more elaborate and edited works. In 1804 Beethoven completed his Third Symphony. This piece was originally a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, but when Beethoven found that Napoleon was proclaimed an emperor he deleted the dedication. At this point in his life, Beethoven seriously considered marriage. His first love was for a woman named Giulietta Guicciardi. When this relationship eventually broke, he sought the hand of Giulietta s cousin, Josephine. The bond between them broke and the engagement was ended. Beethoven s final attempt with a woman was with his doctor s daughter, Therese Malfatti. As is expected, this relationship also failed and Beethoven reached the final part of his life as a bachelor. The rate and quality of his compositions slowed and he became more and more isolated. Another depressing and negative event in Beethoven s life took place in 1815. His brother died. • 13. Functional Group Decision Making Functional Group Decision Making(FDM) Definition FDM answers the basic question asked by the developers of this theory. Their question is as follows. Why do some groups make good decisions while others make bad ones? Their model argues that the answer to this question has to do with whether the group has successfully accomplished four functions, which they call requisite functions (pg.141). The four functions of this theory are problem analysis, goal setting, identify alternatives, and evaluate and select. Problem analysis is when the group focuses on the nature, extent and likely causes of the problem. This requires the group to be careful when differentiating between problems and the symptoms of the problems. Goal setting is when the group identifies what an ideal solution would look like. The group decides what elements are necessary and what elements are ideal but not necessary. Identifying alternatives is when the group generates a large number of possible solutions. This is when the group wants to brainstorm as many possible solutions, no matter what the quality of the solution is. Finally, evaluate and select is when the group evaluate each alternative using the established goals. Examples From The Film Goal setting is the first example that I found in the film. I saw this when the foreman says what the goal of the jury is and what is needed for the guilty or not guilty verdict. I saw that one of the jurors used problem analysis. This was when the juror started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The plan includes steps to simplify the system, develop BRT lines, build rail lines, and regionalize service to enhance efficiency. Many region leaders agree that the community must move in this direction, but unfortunately it is controversial due to the fact that public support for such an investment is not strong. While that is the future and where the agency is going, today the Nashville MTA operates on a budget of just $73.6M. For a region of this size and population, the budget facilitates only a basic level of service to the community. My interview was with Thomas Travers, a Technical Specialist that lives in Wharton, New Jersey and worked at Tiffany and Co. for 18 years. When Mr. Travers started to work for Tiffany and Co. back in 1998, he had to be familiarized with the IBM AS/400, which is a midrange computer that is now in the IBM Iseries. On the IBM AS/400 he worked with tools and languages such as RPG, CL, and qm query, which are used to bundle a bunch of queries that are in SQL. He also used operating system commands and RPG programs on the AS/400 to be able to put all the objects in a CL. He has also worked with SQL Server, C# and .NET programming for front end development and business applications. Since Mr. Travers works on different projects and different parts of the technical aspect of Tiffany and Co. , his typical workday fluctuates in what kind of work he does and how much of a workload there is. Recently, as far as when the interview was taken, he and his team were at the end of development on a large project that has been in the works for about two years. They were going to go live with it the week after the interview took place. What this meant for Mr. Travers to do during that time was to go through the project and to make sure that there are no bugs in the programming and to get every part set up and ready for execution before the deadline. Once deadline arrives, he will start up the project and hook it up to communicate with their pre existing systems via a service bus. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Bilingual Is The New Black Bilingual is the New Black Today we live in an increasingly globalized world. In the United States alone over 60 million people speak a language other than English when at home (Speaking in Tongues). While most schools require at least two year of foreign language, this is not really enough to familiarize yourself with a language. It would not only be in the students best interest to do this, but also the schools as it increases academic achievement. It also improves your cognitive functions and benefits society. All of these factors led me to this conclusion: everyone should take at least four years worth of foreign language classes. Many Americans argue that because English is quickly becoming the global language, Americans should not have to learn other languages. They are operating under the following pretenses: there wouldn t possibly be anyone we would want to communicate with that does not speak English already, other countries should teach their citizens a second language (English) so that they can communicate with us, and learning another language is only beneficially if it directly influences us gaining more opportunities. These biases are misguided. Learning another language will benefit you for your entire life. Quantitative research is considered to be the use of numbers. In the use of a quantitative study, the researcher test objective theories by examining the conjunction among variables. The variables used can be measured on instruments, so that numbered data can be used and analyzed (Creswell, 2008). Qualitative research is mainly used to explore and understand human or social problems. The process of qualitative studies includes questions and procedures; and the data is collected byway of participant s settings. It allows the researcher to study an issue in great detail and depth, as well as not allowing data collection to be constrained by predetermined data. Mixed methods research combines quantitative and qualitative methods and it involves philosophical assumptions. This form of study includes collecting and analyzing data from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. It is believed that mixed methods research is a great method for practicing researchers who would like to bridge the schism between quantitative and qualitative research (Onwuegbuzie Leech, 2004a). Eliot subtly conveys a wide variety of Prufrock s emotions; he creates pathos for the speaker by employing the objective correlative, which Eliot defines as a set of objects, a situation, a chain of events [that] shall be the formula of that particular emotion ( Hamlet and His Problems ). The first stanza introduces Prufrock s isolation, as epitomized metaphorically by half deserted streets (4): while empty streets imply solitude, Eliot s diction emphasize Prufrock having been abandoned by the other half needed for a relationship or an argument (8). The eyes (55) and arms (62) that Prufrock claims to have known are synecdoches for women; since he does not say he is familiar with their hearts, which would metaphorically imply experience with their love, Prufrock only knows women physically. He gives one explanation for this by noting the perfume and dress (65) that make him digress (66) from presumably his goal: instead of fostering relationships, Prufrock focuses on sexual/sensual aspects. In spite of this, Eliot provides insight to Prufrock desiring more than physical intimacy through the repeated mention of meals: toast and tea (34), tea and cakes and ices (79), marmalade (88), tea cups (102); these references indicate a wish to no longer dine alone, and Prufrock saying, Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me exemplifies his aspiration for domestic life. Eliot explains Prufrock s isolation by hinting at the man s anxiety. When Prufrock says, There will be time to murder and create, (29), he likely refers to the elimination of possibilities and the manifestation of a consequent situation and/or problem; he could refer to, for example, how best to use the time before...toast and tea (34), meaning breakfast, i.e. a night. Jacqueline Rose went so far as to say Peter Pan offers us the child for ever. It gives us the child, but it does not speak to the child (58). When Rose says us she is referring to adults. It is the adult that wants Peter Pan to stay young forever, not the child. Although Peter explicitly states, I want always to be a little boy and to have fun there follows a parenthetical, so perhaps he thinks, but it is only his greatest pretend (1354). The parenthetical suggests that perhaps this eternity in childhood is not actually Peter s desire, but a lie he has invented to stay young forever. The question then becomes why. The answer is revealed in Hook s heartbreak at Pan s loss of his memories (1351). Hook embodies the fear of adults, the fear of the ticking clock. However, Hook is unable to escape the crocodile of time, so he attempts to live forever through Peter Pan s memory, but he is ultimately unsuccessful. Peter s inability to remember Hook symbolizes the moving of time, a childhood Hook can never go back to and an immortality he can never attain. • 28. A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Naveen Penmetsa University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309 C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines. Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these oscillations. In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and transversely. Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability Overview The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of ... Since Quebec s defeat in the Rebellion of 1837, many Quebecois feel that they have been subject to Anglophone domination from the rest of Canada (Lamrick, 2015). The use of these techniques links to the theme that Frank s actions will eventually have consequences because the director is making the audience believe that Frank could get caught, meaning Frank s actions will have consequences. From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. Two pushrods with fixed length are connected to each flapping spar, thus driving the wing doing up and down motion through pinned connections. Because of the pinned connections, only the vertical component of motion is transferred from the drive mechanism. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration would decrease the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present on it, sowing an increase in enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be an effect on catalase activity from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time for the paper circle to ride to the top of the solution. Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by decreasing the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this 10^8 to 10^10 fold, sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will momentarily bind with the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of the substrate is complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with. There are two main theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model and induced fit theory. The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that fits the substrate and only that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate are able to change shape or distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Essay On Society In Jane Eyre In the beginning of her life Jane s place in society and her inability to be happy because of such deeply trouble her. Jane goes through a multitude of stages and places in life trying to find somewhere she feels safe and morally sound so that she may allow herself in order to experience happiness. It is often through introspection and observation of society that Jane comes into herself and develops the principles and sensibility that she actively searched for to find peace and make sense of the world as a child. At a young Jane observes that beauty and status warrant kindness and in society which translates to a woman being slightly freer to have desires. Prominent examples in her life at the time were Eliza and Georgiana Reed who were able to be horrible little girls but were still doted upon by the adults and expected to lead carefree happy lives. Because Jane so greatly differs from the two, being a poor orphaned dependent of the family, she is regarded without kindness and love for the majority of her time at Gateshead. Jane in childhood at Gateshead is reactive she regards herself prisoner to a life that been detailed to her by members of the Reed family. It is perceived that all she is allowed in life is misery because of her impoverished situation in society. As an impulsive child Jane wants nothing more than to rebel against all whom try to put her in her place instead of giving her the love and care a family should provide. It is only after Jane s psyche and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. What Is Cultural Relativism 1. Cultural relativism relies on social ideals to dictate whether or not something is morally right or wrong while ethical subjectivism that truth moral standard are dictated by each individual. These forms of moral skepticism are completely inconsistent with ethical objectivism since it views moral as something completely untouched by any beliefs, desires, and will. 3. Ethical subjectivism makes us morally infallible by making morality in the eye of the beholder, which pretty much would lead us to believe that every individual is morally right. But this is simply cannot be true since that would mean that an individual s thinking could be based off bias, prejudice, ignorance, etc. and still not be mistaken. 5. Some would say that ethical subjectivism would generate contradictions and they would be correct. Two individuals could agree and disagree respectively on whether or not New Jersey is on the east coast, but then those theories would be inconsistent and contradict each other. But luckily for the subjectivist, they found the perfect comeback for this critique, making it morally impossible to disagree with anyone in the process. A subjectivist can say that they personally do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two types of moral nihilism: error theory and expressivism. Error theory is the theory where our moral judgement are wrong, that they re pretty much a sham. This theory could be compared to atheism in a manner, especially since atheists and error theorist go against widely viewed ideals (a.e. God and moral respectively). Expressivism might seem similar to error theory, but they differ in a large way. They do not believe that any moral are true or false or have any moral value whatsoever. Expressivists also believe that while moral judgement might look like they are moral facts, but really those judgements are just us expressing emotions, showing our approval or disapproval in something. But in the end, both error theory and expressivism both believe morals to be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
