This document discusses different electrical wire models used to analyze circuit behavior. It begins by introducing lumped models that simplify distributed parasitic elements into single circuit components. A common lumped model is the RC model, which approximates a wire's distributed resistance and capacitance. For long wires, a distributed RC model more accurately captures the wire's continuous resistance and capacitance per unit length. The document concludes by comparing lumped and distributed RC wire models.

Carbon nano tube based delay model for high speed energy efficient on chip da...elelijjournal
Speed is a major concern for high density VLSI networks. In this paper the closed form delay model for current mode signalling in VLSI interconnects has been proposed with resistive load termination.RLC interconnect line is modelled using characteristic impedance of transmission line and inductive effect. The inductive effect is dominant at lower technology node is modelled into an equivalent resistance. In this model first order transfer function is designed using finite difference equation, and by applying the boundary conditions at the source and load termination. It has been observed that the dominant pole determines system response and delay in the proposed model. Using CNIA tool (carbon nanotube interconnect analyzer) the interconnect line parameters has been estimated at 45nm technology node. The novel proposed current mode model superiority has been validated for CNT type of material. It superiority factor remains to 66.66% as compared to voltage mode signalling. And current mode dissipates 0.015pJ energy where as VM consume 0.045pJ for a single bit transmission across the interconnect over CNT
material. Secondly the damping factor of a lumped RLC circuit is shown to be a useful figure of merit.
DESIGN & ANALYSIS OF RF ENERGY HARVESTING SYSTEM FOR CHARGING LOW POWER DEVICESJournal For Research
Finite electrical battery life is encouraging the companies and researchers to come up with new ideas and technologies to drive wireless mobile devices for an infinite or enhance period of time. Common resource constrained wireless devices when they run out of battery they should be recharged. For that purpose main supply & charger are needed to charge drained mobile phone batteries or any portable devices. Practically it is not possible to carry charger wherever we go and also to expect availability of power supply everywhere. To avoid such disadvantages some sort of solution should be given and that can be wireless charging of mobile phones.[4] If the mobile can receive RF power signals from the mobile towers, why can’t we extract the power from the received signals? This can be done by the method or technology called RF energy harvesting. RF energy harvesting holds a promise able future for generating a small amount of electrical power to drive partial circuits in wirelessly communicating electronics devices. RF power harvesting is one of the diverse fields where still research continues. The energy of RF waves used by devices can be harvested and used to operate in more effective and efficient way.
The purpose of this paper is to study and design of 230 kV twin bundle double circuit overhead transmission line. In design consideration, the selection of economic voltage, choice of conductor size, number of insulators, maximum sag of conductor and minimum height of conductor are considered. The electrical transfer of energy from one place to another over long distance with standard regulations is one of the major problems in the field of electrical power engineering. The parameters of overhead transmission line are resistance, inductance and capacitance. The bundle conductors are used for reducing the reactance on the line, corona losses, radio interference and surge impedance. ABSTRACT
Due to complexity of electromagnetic modeling, researchers and scientists always look for development of accurate and fast methods to extract the parameters of electronic transmission cables. These parameters play a critical role in various applications like electro surgery, fault location in cables and many more. In this paper, the modeling of stranded multiconductor cable in multilayered dielectric media is illustrated. We specifically determine the distributed parameters of two wire transmission lines in two-layered dielectric media. The effect of frequency change on the parameters is also discussed. This numerical analysis was successfully implemented for modeling of a cable which connects the hand piece of an electro surgical device to its generator. Comparison of the theoretical and the practically measured results is demonstrated with good agreements.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

3. Electrical Wire Models
⇒ Parasitic elements (resistance, capacitance, inductance) have an
impact on the electrical behavior of the circuit.
⇒ It influence the delay, power dissipation, and circuit reliability.
⇒ To study these effects requires
⇒ Electrical models that estimate the real behavior of the wire as a
function of its parameters.
The Ideal Wire
⇒ A voltage change at one end of the wire propagates immediately to
its other ends.
⇒ The same voltage is present at every segment of the wire at the every
point in time.
⇒ Ideal wire concept was the early phase of design process.
⇒ Wire parasitics play a vital role for more complex models.
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 3 / 9
4. The Lumped Model
⇒ The circuit parasitics of a wire are distributed along its length and are
not lumped into a single position.
⇒ For better circuit analysis, it is useful to lump the different fractions
into a single circuit element.
⇒ Advantage of this approach
The effects of parasitic can be described by an ordinary differential
equation.
⇒ Requirement for analysis
The description of a distributed element requires partial differential
equations.
⇒ Dominant component selection
When wire length is small and larger cross sectional area, the resistive
component does not dominate.
When switching frequencies are in the low to medium range, the
capacitive component of the wire dominate.
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 4 / 9
5. Continued–
⇒ Distributed parameter to single one
Lump the distributed capacitance into a single capacitor, because
capacitor is dominating.
⇒ Quality of this capacitive lumped model
Simple
Effective
Model of choice for the analysis of most interconnect wires in digital
integrated circuits.
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 5 / 9
6. The Lumped RC model
⇒ The equipotential assumption in the lumped-capacitor model is no
longer adequate.
⇒ A resistive-capacitive model has to be adopted.
⇒ Approach for analysis (Short wire)
Lumps the total wire resistance of each wire segment into one single R
Combines the global capacitance into a single capacitor C
This simple model, called the lumped RC model
Note: Inaccurate for long interconnect wires.
⇒ Challenges and approach for analysis (Long wire)
The distributed rc-model is complex and no closed form solutions exist.
The distributed rc-line can be adequately modeled by a simple RC
network.
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 6 / 9
7. RC Tree
⇒ The network has a single input node.
⇒ All the capacitors are between a node and the ground
⇒ The network does not contain any resistive loops (which makes it a
tree)
Elmore delay:
τDi
= R1C1 + R1C2 + (R1 + R3)C3 + (R1 + R3)C4 + (R1 + R3 + Ri )Ci
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 7 / 9
8. The Distributed rc Line
⇒ The lumped RC model is a pessimistic model for a resistive-capacitive
wire.
⇒ A distributed rc model is more appropriate.
Figure: Distributed model
L → Total length of the wire.
r → Resistance per unit length.
c → Capacitance per unit length.
Dr. Varun Kumar (IIIT Surat) IIIT Surat-Lecture-3 8 / 9
9. Continued–

∂Vi
∂t
=
(Vi+1 − Vi ) − (Vi − Vi−1)
r∆L
⇒ No closed-form solution exists for this equation.
⇒ These equations are difficult to use for ordinary circuit analysis.
⇒ Distributed rc line can be approximated by a lumped RC ladder network.
