The document analyzes the effect of orientation on response spectrum analysis of plan irregular buildings. It compares two 20-story reinforced concrete buildings (Tower 1 and Tower 2) with different orientations - Tower 1 is oriented along global x and y axes, while Tower 2 is rotated 7 degrees counterclockwise. Both buildings are analyzed using ETABS software for time period, base shear, stiffness, modal properties, and maximum displacements. The results show that the different orientations lead to small changes in structural behavior and responses under equivalent static and dynamic seismic loading.
Influence of Combine Vertical Irregularities in the Response of Earthquake Re...IOSRJMCE
This study investigates the effect of frame set-back with vertical irregularity in height on accuracy of Pushover Analysis for predicting target displacement, story drifts, base shear and performance point. The behavior of high rise building during strong earthquake motion depends on the distribution of mass, stiffness and strength in both horizontal and vertical planes of the buildings. The Indian IS code 1893:2002(Part 1) has pointed out of different structures irregularities like plan irregularity and vertical irregularity. In this study the seismic performance of G+ 16 storey having combine effect of vertical irregularity with R.C building are examined using Non Linear Static Analysis (Pushover Analysis). The Base shear, lateral displacement, storey drift and performance points are the response parameters use to quantify the performance of the structure. These irregularities are responsible for structural collapse of buildings under the action of dynamic loads. Five different types of building geometry are taken one regular and four irregular frames. The all buildings are modeled and analyzed in software SAP 2000. It was found that irregularity in elevation of the building reduce the performance level of structure.
Pushover analysis of rc frame structure with floating column and soft story i...eSAT Journals
Abstract Open first story and Floating column are typical features in the modern multi-storey constructions in urban India. Such features are highly undesirable in buildings built in seismically active areas; this has been verified in numerous experiences of strong shaking during the past earthquakes like Bhuj 2001. In this study an attempt is made to reveal the effects of floating column & soft story in different earthquake zones by seismic analysis. For this purpose Push over analysis is adopted because this analysis will yield performance level of building for design capacity (displacement) carried out up to failure, it helps determination of collapse load and ductility capacity of the structure. To achieve this objective, three RC bare frame structures with G+4, G+9, G+15 stories respectively will be analysed and compared the base force and displacement of RC bare frame structure with G+4, G+9, G+15 stories in different earthquake zones like Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhuj using SAP 2000 14 analysis package. Keywords: - floating column, soft story, pushover analysis, earthquake resistant structure

Study of Earthquake Forces By Changing the Location of Lift CoreIJERA Editor
Lift core is an important element for strengthening of structure in earthquake prone area (Mw=6.5 or more).
This paper deals with use of lift cores to resist the seismic forces and its effect by changing the lift core location.
The study for G+5 and G+10 type frame buildings are taken under consideration. These buildings are further
subdivided as per soil strata i.e. hard, medium, and soft. Two locations of lift core considered for studies i.e.
centre core and corner core. Zone V is considered for all buildings which will cause maximum base shear to the
structure. Study is focused on comparative static and dynamic analysis which will show graphical
representation of G+5 and G+10 building along with soil type. Economy is studied in analysis.

Multistoried buildings should be designed such that they offer sufficient stiffness against
lateral displacement and should have the strength to resist inertial forces imposed by the ground
motion arising from earth quakes. Seismic forces in buildings are greatest at the base of the building.
Hence one of the key factors to be considered in designing seismic resistant buildings is the base
shear. Base shear is an estimate of the maximum expected lateral force that will occur due to seismic
ground motion at the base of a structure. In this manuscript we perform a detailed study of the values
of base shear for bare frame as well as infilled frame multi bay, multistoried structures using Free
Vibration analysis in SAP 2000 as well as pseudostatic analysis presented in I.S. 1893(Part I)-2002

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Quality defects in TMT Bars, Possible causes and Potential Solutions.PrashantGoswami42
Maintaining high-quality standards in the production of TMT bars is crucial for ensuring structural integrity in construction. Addressing common defects through careful monitoring, standardized processes, and advanced technology can significantly improve the quality of TMT bars. Continuous training and adherence to quality control measures will also play a pivotal role in minimizing these defects.
Sachpazis:Terzaghi Bearing Capacity Estimation in simple terms with Calculati...Dr.Costas Sachpazis
Terzaghi's soil bearing capacity theory, developed by Karl Terzaghi, is a fundamental principle in geotechnical engineering used to determine the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. This theory provides a method to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil, which is the maximum load per unit area that the soil can support without undergoing shear failure. The Calculation HTML Code included.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
