Essay On Official Language In Canada
We do not need French of an Official Language, your pushing it onto us (Will Ferguson, pg#365)
Canada believes that they did not need French has an official language. Then they finally got elected
to the Official Languages Act into the election, they got to have the right to use whatever language
they wanted and then thought that they were getting the French language pushed onto them. The
Official Languages Act finally got elected into the election for the first time ever by the liberal group.
(Will Ferguson, pg#365) they believed that they needed French has an official language because in
Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal they all spoke French and thought it was equal to make their language
part of the other language. Based on reports they made they found out that people of Francophones
wanted to have French has a language just how English was like. (Michael Haan, pg#59 76) They won
the election then finally made Canadians have two official languages for now on. After that they got
the choice to use whatever language they wanted. Canada finally got to pick the language they wanted
to use in Canada. To learn at schools they could use English or French, in federal business they could
still pick what language they wanted to use. New rules were added about the languages after the
liberals won the election. Public signs had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

them because of all the new rules and laws. (Canadian Diversity, pg. #

Nurturing Yields a Productive Citizen Essay
Does nurturing in an early childhood stage help to create a productive citizen? Yes, nurturing children,
building a loving and caring relationship in an early childhood stage allows young children to obtain a
positive self concept, reach social emotional development, understand others, achieve physical
growth0 and learn intellectually and morally (Love Our Children USA). First, a positive self concept
(the image one has of oneself and ones strengths) sets the basis as to how a child will conduct his or
herself in the future. Children with good self concepts are more likely to grow into happy and
productive members of society (Arkin et al.). Parents should encourage positive self concepts in
children. To help a child reach this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children may think that they are incompetent or at fault if the teacher gives off a negative attitude. So,
for instance, a bad day should not be shown through the teacher s attitude. The attitude shown on a
bad day should mask the day they are having. This is to insure a nurturing environment for a young
child. Second, along with guidance, children need nurture to help social and emotional skills develop.
Many psychologists point out that there is a very strong relationship between parenting styles and the
social development of children (Kasschau 80). Children from nurturing homes will, in fact, be
stronger socially than children from homes without nurturing caregivers. One of the first and most
important steps in promoting social development is teaching children prosocial behaviors. Prosocial
behaviors are acts of kindness that benefit others such as sharing, helping others, and showing
concern. Many people argue that prosocial behaviors should be learned naturally; however teaching a
child prosocial behaviors is the most accurate way to ensure the quality of kindness in young children.
Emotional development is another important factor in a growing child. Humans use different emotions
to express their feelings to others everyday. In studying young children, one will see that no two
children are exactly alike. Although they may look alike, identical twins differ in personality. This is
why psychologists have emphasized the importance of the

The Magna Cart The Great Charter
The Magna Carta is one of the most popular documents of all time. Magna Carta means The Great
Charter. It is a document given by King John of England as an answer to the problems he had in 1215.
The document state that everyone, even the upper class had to follow the law. About ten years after it
was changed but it still remains a part of the British constitution. It contains 63 clauses in the
document. Inside the document were hidden life lessons and teachings. Many other national
documents used the Magna Carta as a basis like the US Bill of Rights.
It matters because many US documents used it as a basis like the Bill of Rights. It was used as a peace
treaty for the King and his subjects originally that did not work but it set up the new

Domestic Violence And The Civil Rights Movement
Women have been active since the beginning of the early 1800 s and struggle until today s day, to fight
for equality. There were two women movement waves. The first wave was focused on the equality of
the women by working on voting rights. The second wave from 1963 to 1982 concentrated on social
issues. As in Collective Action for Social Change , Aaron Schutz and Marie Sandy stated in their book
women were tired of being second class citizens . The civil rights movement spillover inspired women
to create social movements by acting and building organizations focused on the issues that affected the
women. The social issues were child care, domestic violence, contraception, and women s health. One
of the major topics that the feminists focused on was domestic violence that still exists in today s day
worldwide. Domestic violence is an important issue because many believe that it s only a male to
female action but it s also female to male abuse. In addition, many assume that domestic violence is
only a physical act but there are other forms of abuse such as psychological, sexual, financial and
emotional. John Hamel, a licensed clinical social worker and editor of the journal Partner Abuse said,
A lot of people don t see domestic violence in the home as a crime, so they tend to downplay it.
Because many follow this ideology women would be brutally beaten. In addition, men are seen as the
head of the household because he provides the basic needs for his family, putting him in

Tet Offensive Research Paper
As 1967 drew to a close, it appeared that the U.S was gaining the upper hand in the Vietnam War. The
Tet Offensive of early 1968, however, began the steady decline of U.S fortunes in Vietnam, despite an
undeniable military victory. The Tet Offensive of early 1968 denoted the demise of American
confidence about the course of the Vietnam War. In the second half of 1967, General Westmoreland
made three treks home to the United States to brief President Lyndon Johnson on the advancement of
the war. He made a progression of open and private comments which painted an idealistic picture of
the circumstance in Vietnam. American troops were adjusting to the conditions, Westmoreland said;
the foe was debilitated and exhausted, and his theater of operations ... Show more content on

Inside Rap Music Essay
Inside Rap Music
Music, like mass media and television, has such a powerful influence on our society. People think rap
music is very negative towards society, which is not the case. Rappers teach people about possible
consequences a person may encounter if they choose the same route. Rappers tell their life experience
through their songs. Rap music does not influence violence; it educates people on what is going on in
the lives of urban people. When someone mentions rap music, the first thing some people think is
violence, sex, and drugs, negative, and worthless music. There are a number of rappers that do and sell
drugs, live the crime life, and do jail time. The message that rappers send to their listeners is the
realities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sings about being a bastard child in the ghetto, not having enough food to eat, how he turned to
crime, and how he spent most of his life burying his peers. In a son call Smile he tells the listeners to,
keep their head up... and if they believe, they can achieve. (Scarface) In a call Niggaz Done Change he
tells the listeners about his life and the song also tells how, [Tupac was] shot and murdered. (2Pac)
The moral of the song was that if a person lives that lifestyle the out come could be death. Rap music
is a form of poetry and story telling. An article by Errol A. Henderson, describes a rapper as a poet
with jagged edges intact...that fully capture the Black ethos of struggle, resistance, righteousness,
exploitation, and creativity in Black America. (Henderson) An example is Jay Z, in the song, This Can

cops, and court. (Sigel) In that song he told what he grew up around. In the song, Who We Be by

Costs And Benefits Of Hosting The Olympic Games
Is It Worth It?: Analyzing the Costs and Benefits of Hosting the Olympic Games It s a gorgeous early
August day. You just want to be outside, regardless of what you are doing. Are you? Nope. You are
sitting in your car, stuck in traffic because your evening commute home has tripled in time due to the
traffic. This is a common side effect of hosting the Olympic Games. On the other hand, the influx of
people coming into the city does wonders for the local economy. Every few years, countries throw
mind blowing amounts of money at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the right to host
the Olympic Games, but is it worth it for the country and its citizens? In 2015, Boston was in
contention to host the 2024 summer Games, but ultimately lost out to Paris, much to many Bostonians
delight. Was their reaction justified, or did they just miss out on a great opportunity? The monetary
costs of hosting the Olympic Games are astronomical. The most evident cost of hosting the Olympic
Games are the monetary costs that come with hosting the Games. At the Summer Games in 2008,
Beijing spent at least US$100 million on the Opening Ceremonies alone, according to Rishav Bista,
Assistant Professor of Economics at Marshall University. That is just where the costs start. At the time
of their bid, many hopeful host cities do not have the stadiums or arenas needed to accommodate all
the events or the amount of people who will be in attendance. The 2012 Olympic Games ended up

Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial Revolution...
During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the European
economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution was when trade grew and merchants had
developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade in the Commercial Revolution was a
cause for a rebirth of town life. According to Cole, Urban manufacturing was regulated by
professional associations known as guilds or confraternities. Also, guilds promoted the interests of the
members by trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Ages the cloth
trade had become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these conflicts became a feature
of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic conflicts. The Medieval Guild System
comprised of craft and merchant guilds influencing economic and social aspects of European life.
During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant. Merchant guilds sold
increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and they imported raw wool from England to supply the
cloth makers in order to handle long distance and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was when
weavers or dyers achieved a monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the
guilds performed independently of one another the craft guilds began to take over the control of the
production from the merchant guilds. The guilds set quality standards for their products, managed the
size of the workshops, the

Disagree With The Common Law No-Duty Rule
Common Law No Duty Rule
In a legal point of view, I would agree with this law. To rescue a person or not, it s really depend on
the situation and it s hard to define a person s condition at that moment is able to save a life or not.
There are many examples that, someone is trying to help the others and end up losing their life. There
can be many reasons why people are not helping, and the law won t able to set a rule on certain reason
when a person should hold liability or not. Everyone can said they don t want to risk their own life to
help someone and the law can t said this is wrong. However, in a human point of view, it s wrong not
to do anything at all. Even we have the right to choose not to risk our life on others, but there are

The Energy Crisis Of Josh Fox s Documentary, Gasland, And...
The menace and lucrativeness of the energy crisis in the United States combined with the egregious
aftereffects correlated with natural gas extraction makes the subject of hydraulic fracturing a very high
stakes issue. Given the topic, the implications of Josh Fox s documentary, Gasland, are as high stakes
as could be expected. According to Fox s claims in Gasland, the price of not believing his accusations
is too steep to ignore. After the documentary came out in 2010 (IMDb), the industry that Fox sought to
condemn agreed that the cost was high, but the consequences for them were opposite: if the public
believed Fox s claims and mobilized against fracking, a multi billion dollar industry stood to collapse
(Carroll). So how could a mere movie be so threatening? More importantly, where are the chinks in its
armor?
At the University of California Berkeley, The Craft of Research, is so highly sought after by
undergraduate students and their teachers, that professors warn students to snag their copy of the
revered book as soon as possible, before the campus bookstore inevitably runs out. In it, budding
research writers are warned about the consequences of insufficient evidence. The tome warns that the
problem of sufficient evidence is even worse when readers resist your solution because they have a
stake in a different one (Booth 142). Since Fox s solution basically leaves no room for fracking to
continue in a profitable manner, the natural gas industry definitely has a

Essay about Motivation for Work
Work is a positive thing for many people. To some people, it may be described as a place to escape
from the kids, or even a time consumption thing for a single or retired person, but most importantly it
is what we do in order to provide for our families and ourselves. Work is something that we all will
experience at one time or another during our lives. There are several reasons why a person goes to
work. These reasons can be better explained as work motivation . Work motivation can be defined as
the inner forces that make us work and want to work harder to achieve personal or organizational
goals (George Jones, 2005). There are two different types of motivation; intrinsic and extrinsic. When

On the other hand, things like total accomplishment motivate Aberdeen s employees; they thrive on
bettering the work environment, learning new skills and getting to participate in group leadership.
You could say that the main difference between the Aberdeen and Green River plants have mostly to
do with which type of motivational reasoning each have. Aberdeen employees are motivated for
intrinsic reasons. They continue to work hard for the satisfaction of the entire company doing well, as
Green River employees do things for extrinsic reasons. They are only concerned with doing only what
it takes to make more money.
There are several different ways an employer can motivate their employee s: job design goals,
performance appraisal, pay, and career development. Job design is the process of envisioning and
defining specific work systems for a particular job, and deciding what techniques, procedures, and
equipment that it will take to do the job (George Jones, 2005). Job design plays an important role in
enhancing motivational levels in the workplace. It seems that if you can break jobs down individually
and make them simpler to understand do, then people are more apt to do them effectively. With this in
mind, I would like to recommend that Green River s management break their jobs down into steps to
help simplify and make for better production. Developing goals and teams, as well as teaching them to

Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay
Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of
identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights
Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the
Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay Liberation
Movement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of lesbian identity
politics a movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would come to be coined
the lavender menace of feminism a group of mostly Caucasian lesbians followed later by the black
lesbian feminist group, The Combahee River Collective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After delivering the food, and being understandably annoyed with the task, she was belittled by a male

Combahee River Collective, experienced very similar discrimination in Civil Rights campaigns,
especially groups like the Black Panthers. Just like Jay, many African American women were used as
sexual remuneration to men who did good work within their organizations. This patriarchy, antithetic
to the goals of feminism, was the undoubted enemy of both these lesbian organizations usurping it
became one clear goal. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not feel separate from African
American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white patriarchy. Understanding that
they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them sexually, almost supplements the idea
that white men who controlled government and economy were the ultimate oppressor. They did not
feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the
Collective connected with white lesbians against patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within
feminism as well as lesbianism. Secondly, we see that if well known reformists were not male, they
were heterosexual, the epitome being Betty Friedan. This was the reason for the more specific goal of
the two groups: battling hierarchy in addition to

Titanic
Even though Titanic was unsinkable , the lives of 1,500 people were lost on April 15th, 1912, from

but what they didn t know was that Titanic was unsinkable in the case of it colliding with other ships,

To Kill A Mocking Bird From Trayvon Martin to Black Lives Matter
People have different opinions and views on subjects and we won t always agree with them or
understand why they think that way. You never really understand a person until you consider things
from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it. I like that Atticus is
teaching his kids valuable lessons. We don t know what makes someone act or dress or do the things
they do, so we make assumptions and conclusions in order to understand , but the only true way of
understanding someone is through sympathy and compassion.
I value this next quote because I believe a lot of what Atticus is saying still applies today. Not just
white men cheating black men but white people in general cheat colored people everyday simply for
being white. As you grow older, you ll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let
me tell you something and don t you forget it whenever a white man does that to a black man, no
matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, he is trash. For example in
today s society we have wage gaps, people get paid based on what their race is even if they share the
same job and do the same work. Even though today we like to deny racism exists, it does we just
chose to ignore it.

Native Language And The Japanese Language
Belonging to the Japonic language family, the Japanese language exclusively belongs to the Japanese
people. Unlike languages such as English and Spanish, where their languages have been adopted by
other countries such as New Zealand and Mexico and therefore isn t just spoken in their home
countries of England and Spain. Japanese is a unique and distinct Asian language used only in Japan.
Japanese language is also a prime example for discourse analysis because it is a refined and complex
language. Discourse analysis studies the overall larger aspect of language and how the language flows
and connects. In some aspects of discourse analysis, it studies how the language is understood and
how the meaning of sentences is affected. Keigo (敬語) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The target economic sectors of the proposed research are the sugar industry and the construction
industry. The sugar industry will be directly affected, since the main goal of this research project is to
develop a sugarcane bagasse ash based product that can be used as an additive for concrete mixes.
Due to the known properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this
new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties of concrete mixes.
The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make it economically advantageous to

The local construction industry will be indirectly affected by the availability of an additive for
concrete production with a lower cost and similar properties to fly ash. This new bagasse ash based
product is expected to reduce the construction costs of projects requiring large amounts of concrete
(e.g., foundations, concrete bridges), thus, leading to a potential increase in the number of construction
projects per year. The results of this research will have a significant impact on the economic
development of US regions where the sugar industry is present, such as Florida, Texas, and Hawaii

Analysis Of Indian Horse By Richard Wagamese
All Canadian s need to know of Canada s dark past. For many years aboriginal children were put
through boarding school ran by religious institutions, these schools were called residential schools.
The novel Indian Horse , by Richard Wagamese inculpates perfectly what the kids went through
before, during and after residential schools. The book also gives insight on current issues that the
survivors of the school face after they are dropped into the real world. It is also important that older
generations read this novel as older people have not learned about residential schools while they were
in school. Canadians need to read Indian horse by Richard Wagamese in order to discover why
reconciliation is needed for the Aboriginal people of Canada.
Children had to endure many terrible and horrific things while attending a residential school. They
endured physical, mental and sexual related trauma. Many of these things happened to Saul (the books
protagonist) while attending St. Jerome s (the residential school). Saul had to deal with being sexually
assaulted by a character named Father Leboutilier numerous times. It s a big part of the book because
it shows how the kids would not accept reality, they would rather doubt or never accept they were
assaulted much like Saul never admitted that it happened till much later in life (Wagamese 199). In
addition, it s important for others to read about what happened to Saul because it shows that even the
nicest people can be someone

Gibson Girl versus Flapper Girl Essay
Gibson Girl versus Flapper Girl During the roaring twenty s a new type of women arose, a women
who rebelled against society s standards for women, the Flapper Girl. The new Flapper Girl shocked
society by setting a new type of women beauty that expressed their independence just like men.
Meanwhile the Gibson Girl was the ideal figurehead for female beauty, they were often shown as
fragile and vulnerable. Flapper Girls astonished the world by pushing the limits of the average Gibson
Girl setting new limits that were never foreseen before for women. Before the Flapper Girl there was a
more traditional women, the Gibson Girl who were seen as fragile ladies who relied on men to care for
them. They often used corsets to obtain a hourglass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many women enjoyed working, some of them continued to work after the war to pay for new labor
saving devices such as the washing machine and vacuum. These women were also out of the house
more and took leisure in dancing, smoking, drinking and other activates that use to be restricted to
men only. Flapper Girls changed how society viewed women, they were now seen as more
independent women who were not reliant on others, they even demanded the same rights as men such
as the right to vote. The roaring twenty s completely changed how society viewed women, they were
now independent and had many of the same rights men had. Gibson Girls were now a thing of the
past; the new Flapper Girls took the country by storm allowing women to be more self reliant. Women
no longer stayed at home all day, they could now decide for themselves and what they wanted to do
with their lives. This allowed many women to get jobs and earn a living for themselves. No longer did
women have to live up to the standards of men, being a Flapper Girl allowed women to be treated
equally. Women could now vote and obtain jobs that were once only available to men. In conclusion
the roaring twenty s opened new opportunities for women that they had never had before. The Flapper
Girl era allowed women to be more independent. Women could now vote, get the same jobs as men,

The Reality Of Hollywood Schools Vs. Reality
Hollywood schools vs reality
A person might be afraid of the mean girl group, or about what the dumb jocks say. Hollywood makes
it seem different than what the reality actually is. Maybe that s why high schoolers may be a little
disappointed when they don t see chandeliers, fog machines, or sparkling lights at their prom. Some
kids are afraid of the first day of middle school. They re are preparing themselves for that harsh mean
girl click they may have seen on tv. Or may be afraid that the boys in the older grade than them would
shove the in their locker. While bullying is very real, and everyone should take it for caution, some
things may not be what they seem as portrayed in Hollywood. Bullying is a serious thing and the state
of New York has even taken it to the extents of finning a parent up to $250 or 15 days in jail. The
popular movie, Mean Girls, made in 2004, stars a girl named Cady, and which she is friends with
unpopular people. She groups up with the Plastics to get closer with her enemies. In the end hope to
sabotage the famous Regina George by giving her protein bars to make her gain weight, even though
she want to lose three pounds. Cady even got Regina s friends to turn against her. Again, bullying is
real, but bullying in real life is much more subtle nowadays.
Most people would think that it wouldn t be the smartest idea to leave their sixteen year old child
alone for a day. Well, Cady s parents didn t. In that time Cadey had a party, got

Speech On Fashion Designer Handbags
Selecting Fashion Designer Handbags To Enhance Your Beauty
When you have a vital arrangement, how would you finish your outfit? Possibly with a fine
arrangement of gems? A couple of designer shoes? What about a bag? Obviously, no lady of fashion
will ever go out without a bag or purse to contain some of her own assets. There is a purse to run with
any outfit that a lady may wear. A purse is, by a wide margin, the handiest frill at any point used by
ladies without leaving fashion. Truly, fashion designer handbags really exist to serve distinctive
capacities for ladies. Regardless of whether the issue is a straightforward day time event, formal night
party, or whatever other easygoing issue, there is the sort of bag that will suit every occasion. ... Show

Some come inexpensively labeled while others are to a great degree costly. However, what is this
fever over stylish designer handbags? Why are ladies of any age going gaga over these things? They
have captivated ladies of all kinds of different backgrounds, and a considerable lot of these ladies don
t scrutinize the cost. Unquestionably, there couldn t be a distinction so critical that it would legitimize
spending such a great amount on such a thing!
Designer handbags are, in truth, the same as whatever other sort of tote. Costly or not, they are
altogether made essentially to hold a lady s belonging, for example, her driving permit, lipstick,
cosmetics, cash, and so on.
The truth is that a designer name has an inseparable tie to the fever over designer handbags. Carrying
a designer tote around is to a great degree fulfilling for a few ladies; it makes them feel that they have
entered the universe of designer fashion. Designer names are a wellspring of pride for some ladies
since they realize that their bag was fashioned by some scandalous fashion designer who has the nerve
to tag the pack with a madly high sticker

Dear Mom And Dad,. I Completely Understand Why You Are
Dear Mom and Dad, I completely understand why you are concerned about my use of marijuana not
only for the well being of this family but also for my own health and future. I definitely understand
your concerns, but you need to understand that you grew up in a completely different generation than
me. Marijuana use is very common now days not only in The United States but all around the world.
Many people who you interact with every day have at one point in their lives or even currently smoke
marijuana, yet they are still able support their families, have a steady job, and even in my situation get
a good education. One of the reasons you haven t realized this is because there are no long term effects

Now I understand that the two of you believe that marijuana is a gateway drug but I have done
excessive research and I can assure you that it is in in no shape or form a gateway drug . The gateway
theory argues that because heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine users often used marijuana before
graduating to harder drugs, it must be a gateway to harder drug use. The theory implies that there is a
causal mechanism that biologically sensitizes drug users, making them more willing to try and more
desirous of harder drugs. Yet the gateway hypothesis doesn t make sense to those who use marijuana
or have used in the past. Research shows that the vast majority of marijuana users do not go on to use
hard drugs. Many users compare their daily cannabis habit with dependency on caffeine. The UK
Department of Health say Cannabis is a weakly addictive drug but does induce dependence in a
significant minority of heavy users. If you are a regular cannabis smoker (every day) and you stop
smoking, you will experience some of the following withdrawal symptoms: restlessness, irritability,
mild agitation, insomnia, nausea, sleep disturbance, sweats, and intense dreams. These symptoms,
however, are mild and short lived, lasting 2 to 4 days. With such negligible withdrawal symptoms, it is
not surprising that quitting marijuana is so easy, especially for someone with very strong will power,
such as myself.

The Influence of Music on Self and Society
Throughout history the unspoken but highly evocative language of music has exerted powerful
influences on individuals and societies alike. Felix Mendelssohn once remarked that music is more
specific about what it expresses than words written about those expressions could ever be. That music
has the power to express, convey and illicit powerful emotions is without question, however the issue
of music s moral and ethical power, and how that power affects individuals and societies, is one that
receives too little attention in our post modern world. Ancient cultures held strong beliefs in the moral
and ethical power of music and as such it was imperative for artists within those cultures to exercise a
certain moral and ethical responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the moral and possibly corrupting aspects of the music of his countrymen. He was equally concerned
with the effects of good (moral) music on a person s character: The noble minded man s music is mild
and delicate, keeps a uniform mood, enlivens and moves. Such a man does not harbor pain or mourn
in his heart; violent and daring movements are foreign to him.
As mentioned earlier, a significant aspect of the ancient Chinese concept of music was the effect of
music on one s psyche and the issue of freedom and responsibility in all musical pursuits. When
compared to the rationales and motivation of artists of our modern age the Chinese ideal of music
making seems highly enlightened as evident in the consideration given to the effect of music upon the
character of the listener. If individuals were affected by music it stood to reason that the larger society
could be influenced positively or negatively as well.
The ancient Chinese book The Memorial of Music states: Under the effect of music, the five social
duties are without admixture, the eyes and the ears are clear, the blood and the vital energies are
balanced, habits are reformed, customs are improved, the empire is at complete peace. As we can see,
the Chinese view that social order was juxtaposed to music plays heavily into its philosophical system
and ideals. The connection of the tonal arts to the ordering principles of physical laws and
metaphysical

The World Of Private Security Essay
In todays world of private security, secrecy is essential. But what about when those secrets are
incidents which breach the confines of the law or human rights. Should they still be kept secrets,
should they be ignored by government regulators and poorly investigated by congressional
committees, or should they be exposed and issued proper sanctions? Since the beginning of the War
on Terror there have been a multitude of incidents involving private security companies which are also
sometimes known as mercenary armies. These incidents, in many cases, have tried to be covered up or
discredited by the companies involved. In some instances, bribes were even involved and exposed but
the companies were still allowed to operate. Many of them even received more contracts from the US
government! Private security companies around the world provide essential services that range from
the protection of VIP s to the installation of security systems to the building of FOB s (Forward
Operating Base), command bases, and even roads. Personally, I like the idea of PSC s (Private
Security Companies) and am even looking to go into the private security industry but my choice
would come after careful consideration and research on the policies and procedures of the company.
That is where the problem today lies, with the policies and procedures of PSC s as well as the lack of
policies and procedures imposed onto them by the government. Overall I believe that these companies
are effective but that

Tomato Gravy ( Sunday Gravy )
For my project, I will be making tomato gravy. Although tomato gravy and tomato sauce share similar
ingredients, tomato gravy is simmered with some type of meat such as meatballs, pork necks, sausage,
poultry, or braciole (pronounced bra shol ) and is cooked for several hours giving it a thicker gravy
like consistency. Some of the main ingredients in my recipe is canned tomatoes (both peeled and
crushed), tomato paste, garlic, and parmesan cheese (Romano preferred).
For as long as long as I can remember, my mother always made tomato gravy on Sundays. My family,
and many Italian American families, calls it gravy. Don t get this confused with the type of gravy you
would put on mashed potatoes we call that brown gravy . I could never ... Show more content on

(Carol Marchese, 1979)
After the tomato paste is browned the next thing we do is prepare the meat. My mom normally made
meatballs or pork necks. When making the meatballs my mom preferred using ground beef (at least
85% fat). She would hand mix the ground beef with minced garlic, parsley, egg, bread crumbs, salt,
pepper, and most importantly, Romano cheese (Locatelli preferred) into a large bowl until it was well
blended and form meatballs about the size of a golf ball. Using the same sauté pan used to brown the
tomato paste she would brown the meatballs with a little oil (enough to coat the pan). If she were
making pork necks, she d season the pork necks with salt amp; pepper and brown the pork necks in
garlic flavored oil. After the meat is browned it is placed in the large pot of simmering tomato gravy.
To be certain that all the meat remnants and drippings were incorporated in the large pot, she would
ladle tomato sauce into the sauce pan, under low heat, and scrape all the bits up with a wooden spoon.
Then transfer the meat bits and tomato sauce back to the large pot of tomato gravy.
Sunday visits weren t just about the dinners. It was a day to spend with family to laugh, play, and
socialize. A Sunday wasn t complete without the food, wine (for the adults of course) laughter, and a
card game. Games were as important as Sunday gravy. Most of the time we

Attachment Theory Is Defined As The Emotional And...
Attachment Theory is defined as the emotional and psychological bond between a child and their
caregiver, which starts from birth and is believed to last a lifetime. (Arxcis, 2017). The first published
works of attachment theory were done by John Bowlby, a child psychiatrist, in 1969, with Mary
Ainsworth, a Canadian psychologist, later collaborating with Bowlby to include different attachment
types. Bowlby s theory, which was influenced from Konrad Lorenz s idea of familial imprinting,
stated that attachment bonds would begin to form up until nine months of age in an infant. From nine
months, up until two to three years of age, attachment types would be observable (Arxcis, 2017). In
the 1950 s, Ainsworth set out on an in depth study to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether they are sick, tired, hungry, or upset, caregivers of children with secure attachment most
times consistently engage the child when cued, and provide predictable, supportive emotional and
physical reactions that the child has learned to rely on. Conversely, in avoidant attachment caregivers
have demonstrated that they cannot be relied on to provide emotional support in response to the child s
needs. The caregivers have either reacted to the child s distress in a cold manner or ignored them
completely. Children who are insecurely ambivalent attached often have caregivers that are
inconsistent in their response to the child s distress. The child exhibits escalating behavior such as
cries turning into shrieks and screaming. They appear to want contact with the caregiver through cues,
but will resist contact when attempted by the caregiver. Disorganized attachment is a result of a
caregiver who is inappropriate in their response to their child, responding sexually, physically or
verbally abusive. The children may present with odd behavior and act out. (Arxcis, 2017). 10 year old
Raymond Giovanni is the youngest of three children. He lives in a two parent household with his
mother, a stay at home parent, and his father, a detective. Ray presents as having a disorganized
attachment type with both of his parents. Raymond s mother often excludes him from activities that
his siblings partake in. He knows not to interrupt her

Tourette Syndrome Research Papers
Tourette syndrome is a disorder that affects people worldwide, no matter what age, ethnic group, or
race. It is a disorder characterized by uncontrollable, repetitive motor or vocal actions called tics.
Though not much is known about how TS is passed on, how it can be prevented, or the causes, there is
still research being conducted on how TS can be treated and about TS itself.
Not much is known about how TS is passed on over generations or the causes. Yet that does not stop
scientists from forming guesses. Scientists once believed that it was an autosomal dominant disorder.
Though this has been dismissed as false, there are other ideas of where this disorder comes from. One
hypothesis says that TS comes from a mutation on the SLITRK1 gene because this has been found in
few people with TS. But this is not proven to be the sole cause of TS. That of which is not known.
Tourette syndrome is known for the tics that come with it. If a person has tics, that does ... Show more

Medicine such as Neuroleptics, Risperidone, and Fluphenazine have all shown progress in lessening
the occurrence of tics. Therapy has also shown promising results in those diagnosed with TS.
Therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Comprehensive behavioral Intervention for Tics
(CBIT) have both shown great progress in decreasing the occurrence and complexity of the tics.
The outlook for Tourette s syndrome is hopeful. High quality research is being conducted by medical
professionals and support groups such as Tourette s Association of America. This is a group that
teaches people about Tourette s and provides support for those diagnosed and their family members. It
provides information on Tourette s syndrome and shows the complications that those with the disorder
and their family members have to go through. Tourette s syndrome is a complex disorder that affects

Ethics And Ethics Of Ethics
With the Repo 105 manipulation, assets and liabilities were reduced at the reporting date, and the
leverage ratio was decreased as well because the numerator and the denominator of that ratio are
reduced by the same amount. As a result, Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy and former officials
of Lehman brothers have agreed to pay $90 million to settle a shareholder lawsuit.
We can refer from the two previous examples that ethics education is crucial. The main reason for
ethics education is that ethics courses and training would help students, who are going to become
future managers and business decision makers, to resolve such ethical dilemmas correctly. As we
know that most dilemmas often have multiple decision criteria. Business ethics classes would help
students to realize which decision criteria lead to a preference for a given decision alternative. Besides
helping future business players, another important reason for education of ethics is the fact that it is
inescapable. Without the existence and appreciation of ethics and the codes of conduct, the world will
be at lost and have no ways of assessing what is desirable and adds to the public wellness, and what is
sabotaging the social standards. Having the code of ethics is not merely a way to secure survivability
of the company, but also helps the company to make the right decisions in dilemmas and expressing
commitments to the society. Similar to the discussions of social responsibilities that companies should

Gold Mining In South Carolina
South Carolina s commercial gold mining began in 1829, two years after the first discovery of gold in
the area [1]. Mining continued with variations in productivity until World War II, when all gold
mining was abandoned until renewed interest during the 1980s [1]. Figure 1., seen above, shows the
amount of gold produced per year in troy ounces per year and the percentage of total US gold
production [2]. Overall, gold production increases with time as newer mining techniques increase
efficiency. In 1836, South Carolina produced above 11% of total gold for the United States. During
this time, there were a number of different gold extraction techniques that involved mercury [3]. The

of the 19th century but many rice plantations moved to the coast during this time [20]. It is unknown if
the mercury would have affected the rice plantations over that area or if any negative effects were

The Legal Counsel At Baylor University
As an entity that caters to a vast array of individuals including students, faculty, staff, visitors, and
many more, colleges and institutions of higher education are highly vulnerable to be faced with
lawsuits. To provide legal counsel for the institution and those who are considered a part of the
institution, colleges and universities employ a general counsel. The general counsel at Baylor
University is tasked with, managing and supervising all legal affairs for the University (General
Counsel, N.D.). Two of the current lawsuits against the university are regarding alleged Title IX
violations based on how the university acted or failed to act when students reported sexual assault
claims. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief overview of the Title IX cases that are currently
pending against Baylor University, examine the issue from a local standpoint while comparing the
University of Iowa and Baylor University s general counsels, and finally to discuss the impact of the
lawsuits at a broader level.
Baylor University is currently facing three separate Title IX lawsuits, all stemming from the university
s alleged inaction and mishandling of sexual assault reports (Perez, 2016). One lawsuit was filed by
one individual, while the second lawsuit was filed by three individuals, and the third was filed by one
individual. The five individuals filing the lawsuits are female identifying students and former students
at Baylor University. All five individuals felt as

Essay On Official Language In Canada We do not need French of an Official Language, your pushing it onto us (Will Ferguson, pg#365) Canada believes that they did not need French has an official language. Then they finally got elected to the Official Languages Act into the election, they got to have the right to use whatever language they wanted and then thought that they were getting the French language pushed onto them. The Official Languages Act finally got elected into the election for the first time ever by the liberal group. (Will Ferguson, pg#365) they believed that they needed French has an official language because in Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal they all spoke French and thought it was equal to make their language part of the other language. Based on reports they made they found out that people of Francophones wanted to have French has a language just how English was like. (Michael Haan, pg#59 76) They won the election then finally made Canadians have two official languages for now on. After that they got the choice to use whatever language they wanted. • 3. Nurturing Yields a Productive Citizen Essay Does nurturing in an early childhood stage help to create a productive citizen? Yes, nurturing children, building a loving and caring relationship in an early childhood stage allows young children to obtain a positive self concept, reach social emotional development, understand others, achieve physical growth0 and learn intellectually and morally (Love Our Children USA). First, a positive self concept (the image one has of oneself and ones strengths) sets the basis as to how a child will conduct his or herself in the future. Children with good self concepts are more likely to grow into happy and productive members of society (Arkin et al.). Parents should encourage positive self concepts in children. To help a child reach this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children may think that they are incompetent or at fault if the teacher gives off a negative attitude. So, for instance, a bad day should not be shown through the teacher s attitude. The attitude shown on a bad day should mask the day they are having. This is to insure a nurturing environment for a young child. Second, along with guidance, children need nurture to help social and emotional skills develop. Many psychologists point out that there is a very strong relationship between parenting styles and the social development of children (Kasschau 80). Children from nurturing homes will, in fact, be stronger socially than children from homes without nurturing caregivers. One of the first and most important steps in promoting social development is teaching children prosocial behaviors. Prosocial behaviors are acts of kindness that benefit others such as sharing, helping others, and showing concern. Many people argue that prosocial behaviors should be learned naturally; however teaching a child prosocial behaviors is the most accurate way to ensure the quality of kindness in young children. Emotional development is another important factor in a growing child. Humans use different emotions to express their feelings to others everyday. In studying young children, one will see that no two children are exactly alike. Although they may look alike, identical twins differ in personality. This is why psychologists have emphasized the importance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Domestic Violence And The Civil Rights Movement Women have been active since the beginning of the early 1800 s and struggle until today s day, to fight for equality. There were two women movement waves. The first wave was focused on the equality of the women by working on voting rights. The second wave from 1963 to 1982 concentrated on social issues. As in Collective Action for Social Change , Aaron Schutz and Marie Sandy stated in their book women were tired of being second class citizens . The civil rights movement spillover inspired women to create social movements by acting and building organizations focused on the issues that affected the women. The social issues were child care, domestic violence, contraception, and women s health. One of the major topics that the feminists focused on was domestic violence that still exists in today s day worldwide. Domestic violence is an important issue because many believe that it s only a male to female action but it s also female to male abuse. In addition, many assume that domestic violence is only a physical act but there are other forms of abuse such as psychological, sexual, financial and emotional. John Hamel, a licensed clinical social worker and editor of the journal Partner Abuse said, A lot of people don t see domestic violence in the home as a crime, so they tend to downplay it. Because many follow this ideology women would be brutally beaten. In addition, men are seen as the head of the household because he provides the basic needs for his family, putting him in ... • 6. Tet Offensive Research Paper As 1967 drew to a close, it appeared that the U.S was gaining the upper hand in the Vietnam War. The Tet Offensive of early 1968, however, began the steady decline of U.S fortunes in Vietnam, despite an undeniable military victory. The Tet Offensive of early 1968 denoted the demise of American confidence about the course of the Vietnam War. In the second half of 1967, General Westmoreland made three treks home to the United States to brief President Lyndon Johnson on the advancement of the war. He made a progression of open and private comments which painted an idealistic picture of the circumstance in Vietnam. American troops were adjusting to the conditions, Westmoreland said; the foe was debilitated and exhausted, and his theater of operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In earlier years, the occasion had been the event for a casual agreement in South Vietnam s long running clash with North Vietnam and their comrade southern partners, mockingly known as Viet Cong. • 7. Inside Rap Music Essay Inside Rap Music Music, like mass media and television, has such a powerful influence on our society. People think rap music is very negative towards society, which is not the case. Rappers teach people about possible consequences a person may encounter if they choose the same route. Rappers tell their life experience through their songs. Rap music does not influence violence; it educates people on what is going on in the lives of urban people. When someone mentions rap music, the first thing some people think is violence, sex, and drugs, negative, and worthless music. There are a number of rappers that do and sell drugs, live the crime life, and do jail time. The message that rappers send to their listeners is the realities of ... • 8. Costs And Benefits Of Hosting The Olympic Games Is It Worth It?: Analyzing the Costs and Benefits of Hosting the Olympic Games It s a gorgeous early August day. You just want to be outside, regardless of what you are doing. Are you? Nope. You are sitting in your car, stuck in traffic because your evening commute home has tripled in time due to the traffic. This is a common side effect of hosting the Olympic Games. On the other hand, the influx of people coming into the city does wonders for the local economy. Every few years, countries throw mind blowing amounts of money at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the right to host the Olympic Games, but is it worth it for the country and its citizens? In 2015, Boston was in contention to host the 2024 summer Games, but ultimately lost out to Paris, much to many Bostonians delight. Was their reaction justified, or did they just miss out on a great opportunity? The monetary costs of hosting the Olympic Games are astronomical. The most evident cost of hosting the Olympic Games are the monetary costs that come with hosting the Games. At the Summer Games in 2008, Beijing spent at least US$100 million on the Opening Ceremonies alone, according to Rishav Bista, Assistant Professor of Economics at Marshall University. That is just where the costs start. At the time of their bid, many hopeful host cities do not have the stadiums or arenas needed to accommodate all the events or the amount of people who will be in attendance. The 2012 Olympic Games ended up costing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial Revolution... During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the European economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution was when trade grew and merchants had developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade in the Commercial Revolution was a cause for a rebirth of town life. According to Cole, Urban manufacturing was regulated by professional associations known as guilds or confraternities. Also, guilds promoted the interests of the members by trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Ages the cloth trade had become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these conflicts became a feature of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic conflicts. The Medieval Guild System comprised of craft and merchant guilds influencing economic and social aspects of European life. During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant. Merchant guilds sold increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and they imported raw wool from England to supply the cloth makers in order to handle long distance and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was when weavers or dyers achieved a monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the guilds performed independently of one another the craft guilds began to take over the control of the production from the merchant guilds. The guilds set quality standards for their products, managed the size of the workshops, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To rescue a person or not, it s really depend on the situation and it s hard to define a person s condition at that moment is able to save a life or not. There are many examples that, someone is trying to help the others and end up losing their life. There can be many reasons why people are not helping, and the law won t able to set a rule on certain reason when a person should hold liability or not. Everyone can said they don t want to risk their own life to help someone and the law can t said this is wrong. However, in a human point of view, it s wrong not to do anything at all. • 11. The Energy Crisis Of Josh Fox s Documentary, Gasland, And... The menace and lucrativeness of the energy crisis in the United States combined with the egregious aftereffects correlated with natural gas extraction makes the subject of hydraulic fracturing a very high stakes issue. Given the topic, the implications of Josh Fox s documentary, Gasland, are as high stakes as could be expected. According to Fox s claims in Gasland, the price of not believing his accusations is too steep to ignore. After the documentary came out in 2010 (IMDb), the industry that Fox sought to condemn agreed that the cost was high, but the consequences for them were opposite: if the public believed Fox s claims and mobilized against fracking, a multi billion dollar industry stood to collapse (Carroll). So how could a mere movie be so threatening? More importantly, where are the chinks in its armor? At the University of California Berkeley, The Craft of Research, is so highly sought after by undergraduate students and their teachers, that professors warn students to snag their copy of the revered book as soon as possible, before the campus bookstore inevitably runs out. In it, budding research writers are warned about the consequences of insufficient evidence. The tome warns that the problem of sufficient evidence is even worse when readers resist your solution because they have a stake in a different one (Booth 142). Since Fox s solution basically leaves no room for fracking to continue in a profitable manner, the natural gas industry definitely has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To some people, it may be described as a place to escape from the kids, or even a time consumption thing for a single or retired person, but most importantly it is what we do in order to provide for our families and ourselves. Work is something that we all will experience at one time or another during our lives. There are several reasons why a person goes to work. These reasons can be better explained as work motivation . Work motivation can be defined as the inner forces that make us work and want to work harder to achieve personal or organizational goals (George Jones, 2005). Aberdeen employees are motivated for intrinsic reasons. They continue to work hard for the satisfaction of the entire company doing well, as Green River employees do things for extrinsic reasons. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not feel separate from African American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white patriarchy. Understanding that they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them sexually, almost supplements the idea that white men who controlled government and economy were the ultimate oppressor. They did not feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the Collective connected with white lesbians against patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within feminism as well as lesbianism. Due to the known properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties of concrete mixes. The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make it economically advantageous to burning the entire stock of bagasse fiber for electricity production beyond the needs of the sugar mills. As a result, Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy and former officials of Lehman brothers have agreed to pay $90 million to settle a shareholder lawsuit. We can refer from the two previous examples that ethics education is crucial. The main reason for ethics education is that ethics courses and training would help students, who are going to become future managers and business decision makers, to resolve such ethical dilemmas correctly. The combination of mercury from gold mining, rice fields and high intake of rice mirrors the environment of the 19th century but many rice plantations moved to the coast during this time [20]. It is unknown if the mercury would have affected the rice plantations over that area or if any negative effects were noted at the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
