The Second Sex Feminism Analysis
for independence or to maintain a middle class lifestyle with two incomes. Even if women were
educated, they found it nearly impossible to get a job that was primarily for men. Job ads in the
newspapers were separated into male jobs and female jobs. Also, uneducated women or women
of color had an even harder time looking for work. They usually had a position as a maid.
Overall, women did not feel as if they had a strong purpose in life. The Women s Movement of
the 1970 s and 1980 s was not led by a single figure or group, rather it was run by women as a
whole. However, the movement was divided between the younger and older generations, upper
and middle class and radical and conservative views. The Second Sex a book written by Simone
de Beavoir in 1953, explains how the ideology that men are dominant, is enforced by ongoing
myths. It also states how just because women are capable of getting pregnant and menstruating,
does not make them inferior to men. In 1963, Betty Friedan, who was influenced by The Second
Sex , wrote The Feminine Mystique. This book discusses how women were seen in the
mainstream media, and how forcing them to be homemakers, limits their potential. In a survey
Friedan conducted using her old classmates from Smith College, it was found that women who
played a role at home and worked, were happier than women who only stayed at home (Napikoski).
In 1960, the Food and Drug Administration approved the oral contraceptive pill (birth control)

Thomas Jefferson Vs Hamilton
After the Constitution was ratified people had their own opinion about it. The Federalists who were
James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay just to name a few has a loose interpretation of
the Constitution. On the other hand, the Republicans which was lead by Thomas Jefferson had a
very strict interpretation of the Constitution. Both parties had a different view which will cause
controversy later on.
The Federalist who was mainly lead by Alexander Hamilton, who had the position of a treasure
when George Washington was president, wanted a strong central government that rivaled Great
Britain. While, Thomas Jefferson, who was in charge of foreign relations (starting 1789), wanted a
small, farmer to producer nation. Hamilton while being

Children With ADHD Research
Children with attention deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) disorder are normally at risk for other
disorders such as conduct problems. In fact, ADHD is one of the most robust early predictors of
conduct problems. (Lahey, McBurnett, et al., 2000). These conduct problems can turn into adverse
outcomes such as criminality and substance abuse among others. ADHD is defined by the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(5th ed.; DSM V; American Psychiatric
Association, 2013) as developmentally impulsive behaviors, inappropriate inattention, and motor
activity that cause impairment in social and academic functioning. While little is known about early
predictors of the developmental course of conduct problems among children with ADHD, this...

The DISC was given in each annual assessment and parents were asked whether the child s
ADHD symptoms had caused problems at home or at school. On the CIRS, parents and teachers
alike rated the child s degree of problem and need for treatment. Teachers were also given the
Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale (Pelham, Gnagy, Greenslade, Milich, 1992) by mail
and asked to complete it as part of each annual assessment. In the present study, conduct problems
was defined by the number of DSM IV conduct disorder (CD) symptoms reported by the parent
and/or teacher. Researchers examined risk factors such as maternal depression using The
Structured Clinical Interview for DSM III R, Non Patient Edition (Spitzer, Williams, Gibbon,
1990), was administered to mothers. Mothers also completed supplemental modules to assess the
presence of DSM III R lifetime APD and childhood CD, ADHD, ODD in them and in the father s
life. Mother and child interactions were coded with the Dyadic Parent child Interaction Coding
System (DPICS; Robinson Eyberg, 1981). DPICS interaction categories included direct and indirect

and child responses to commands. Positive parenting included praise, positive affect, and physical

Internal and External Factor of the United States Army
The United States Army is a complex organization made up of several commands and managed by
different command levels. The U.S. Army is an organization different from that of a business in
many unique ways. Specific examples of these differences include: financial reporting, disciplinary
review procedures, and tactical operations. Although different in many ways, the Army shares many
similar characteristics of a normal profit business. Army personnel are managed by supervisors
arranged in a command structure similar to that of a business hierarchy. The Army will also
encounter internal and external factors that could impede or enhance operations. As such, planning,

The Army accomplishes this mission by executing Title 10 and Title 32 United States Code
directives, to include organizing, equipping, and training forces for the conduct of prompt and
sustained combat operations on land. In doing so, the Army accomplishes missions assigned by the
President, Secretary of Defense and combatant commanders, and transforming the future. The
planning function of management ensures the mission is always the objective along with orders
from the Commander In Chief. The organizing function of management is impacted in the
globalization efforts of the Army. The process of transformation of local or regional phenomena
into global ones takes the utmost managerial ability from all ranks and corporations sustaining the
Army. For instance, institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train,
equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces in strategic global locations.
Organizing and strategic planning functions help the training base provide military skills and
professional education to every soldier as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It
also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. Technologically, the industrial base provides
world class equipment and logistics for the Army which highly impacts the

Conscription In Canada Research Paper
It is a well known fact that through Canadian history, English and French Canadians did not get
along very well. French and English Canadians had many differences throughout history, and as
time got closer to the 21st century, situations between these two groups of people got worse and
worse. Their main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around
times of war, when conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World
War II situations that caused Canadato change forever. Therefore, the top three events that really
caused transformations in relations of French and English Canadians were the conscription crisis of
1917, the Union Nationale of the 1930s, and the Official Languages Act of... Show more content on

Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French
Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he
developed and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize
the equal status of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all
federal institutions provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act
allowed for French Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be
recognized for who they are. Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act
showed French Canadians that the Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices
directed towards them, and that there was no longer any need for fighting between French and
English Canadians. The importance of this event is that finally, French Canadians were seen and
identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an apology from the Federal government towards
the French Canadians for all the injustice that had happened to them in the past. The Official
Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that the culture of the French was in no
danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language wars are over ), one of the

Existentialism Is a Humanism
CONTEXT Sartre is trying to defend existentialism against some disapproval to it. The Communist
criticized existentialism as an invitation to people to take interest in hopeless world affairs. On the
other hand, Christians reproached from the fact that people deny the need of attention in human
affairs. People have the will to do anything they want and wish. With the example given, about
ignoring the Ten Commandments, we can people deny the value of following the commandments
and will only follow it if they wish.
THE MEANING OF EXISTENTIALISM According to Sartre, existentialism is a principle that
provides human life possible. It also determines that every truth and action we know involves both

still continue what you did and help. While Sartre s argument is that he cannot fully trust those
people he doesn t know. Yes, he can entrust his works and life with his comrades and family, but not
to strangers. Does that mean that I should abandon myself to quietism? NO. What we should do is
to commit ourselves then act the commitment made. Sartre stated that man is nothing else than
what he proposes. Because he hasn t found anything yet he seeks, he continues to living until the
day he found it. You are nothing else but what you live , this means that a man is no other than a
series of undertaking, that he is the sum, the organization, the set of relations that constitute these
undertaking. Behaviors of the people are caused by the actions happening in their environment
upon them. The implication given was how a coward became a coward, and a hero became a

Observation Of A Soccer Field In Elementary School
Observation #1 For my first observation I observed my four year old nephew s soccer practice
at an elementary school which lasted about a half an hour. They met on the empty field at the
elementary school, there were about 3 other teams practicing at the same time but everyone was
spread out. The coaches set up cones and pop up goals for the children. There were about 12 15
children there, I think they said a few kids weren t there. There were about four coaches or
helpers working with the children. The first thing they did with the kids was a few warm up
activities, the first being some sort of running activity where the children ran around following the
coaches, next, they hopped in place being silly. Then the kids each got a ball and began a kicking
exercise were the had to go around and try to kickthe ball at the cones and knock them down. Then
the kids got in a line with their ball and followed the leader around while dribbling the ball with
both feet. In the next activity, the children got to practice kicking a stationary ball into the goal.
After that, they played a 7 min practice game. At this point, many of the children were in the pre
control level of proficiency because for most it is their first time playing soccer and I could
definitely tell. There might have been a few activities where some children where at control level
but it was very minimal. For example, during the kicking exercise, it was very hard for the kids to
control where their ball was going.

Amway in China
Amway in China (A): A New Business ModelAssignment Questions1.What are Amway s core
competencies?Amway has been a successfully growing business since 1959 due to its unique
adaptation of direct marketing. The company has now expanded into over 80 countries and has
been to some, an example of the American dream. This was what caused the tremendous growth
and is what gave Amwayits most valuable asset; its distributors. Amway s distributors are all
Independent Business Owners (IBOs) because they have no legal ties to Amway other than they
buy the products directly and sign a brief code of conduct agreement. This however does not mean
that IBOs are not extremely loyal to Amway.

Amway is similar to other direct marketing companies such as Dell Computers in that it reduces
product costs to consumers by bypassing retailers. Dell is also similar to Amway because by
dealing directly with consumers it can find out exactly what the consumer needs without incurring
consumer research costs that will be passed onto the consumer. Although Amway did not invent
direct marketing it has been said that it reinvented it. Therefore Amway is unlike most companies
that use direct marketing. Amway s direct marketing design resembles a pyramid but it not
however a pyramid scheme or a ponzi scheme. A ponzi scheme is a illegal operation that promises
high returns on short term investments. It continues with investors keeping their money in the
investments thinking they are making large sums of money. News spreads to others who also
invest and the amount collected continues to grow. If a few people decide to get out they are paid
in order to disguise the scheme. Unfortunately for those who keep their money invested, they will
never see any profits or perhaps their initial investment again. This is unlike a pyramid scheme
because there are no levels of entry. A person who gets involved first does not collect more money
than someone who gets in last. Pyramid schemes are characterized by costly start up costs,
requirements to purchase products with virtually no value, promises of exponential

Dream Toolbox Research Paper
Dream tools
As a professional automotive technician, he or she relies mostly on the knowledge he or she has
acquired throughout the years of training and experience. But without tools, a technician is pretty
much useless when it comes to repairing the vehicle. That is why I have comprised a list of tools
that would be in my Dream toolbox . The tools that I have chosen consist of diagnostic aids,
driveline repair tools, and air impact wrench that can be used for a number of uses consisting of;
light engine work, steering and suspension work, and electrical systems work. The tools I have
listed will benefit me as a technician by helping me diagnose and test vehicle quicker, allowing me
to fix more vehicles in a shorter amount of time.
The first tool I would place in my dream toolbox would be the Snap on MODIS Ultra Modular
Diagnostic and Information System (MODIS). The MODIS Ultra is a diagnostic scan tool that

Write An Essay On Gang Violence
Blood was running down Christian s body as he got stabbed 40 times by local gang members.
Christian, an 18 year old boy trying to run away from a gang, was afraid for his life because he was

a young lady who promised him sex if he came into the woods, but little did he know it was all a

times to make sure he was completely dead. This is an unfortunate Salvadorian story told by the

Many can believe that gang affiliation is just a way of getting by or making a living or having
some sort of protection for your self. But this is my personal point of brow on this topic. Gang
violence and affiliation is at a booming rate. The violence is unacceptable no matter what the
case is. Innocent women and children get hurt and die due to this. Many people flee their own
country for their own protection many who don t have the opportunities to do so have to endure
and keep safe of their environment. Gang deaths happen everyday and it s sad and disappointing
to know the real number of the people who die. Many whom go unheard of. Families can never
find the bodies or maybe the case is they have no true family. I Am aware that gang violence and
affiliation will never truly be wiped out. But I can highly encourage others in saying that a gang
is not going to solve anything. It s just to cover the the true problems of what s going on behind
closed doors. Like I said earlier, jail , Hospital or death bed is the most common forms of aftermath

The City Of Florence First Place For A Movement Essay
Gathering of people form village, villages become town and it grows to become a city. For
centuries, city has acted as the centre for social, political changes since the dawn of history,
especially after Renaissance, where the city of Florence first demonstrate the power of individual

become the birthplace for many movement socially, economically or politically, where against or

therefore provided labour force for mass labour and industrial revolution escalated the pace of
urbanization. People forms city, and each individual has their own opinion, therefore city is a
place where the idea clashed and the new ideology formed everyday, this is why city is the source
of change. Since renaissance, the proportion of populationdwelling in urban area has been ever
increasing, therefore in the city information transfers faster, and there is a higher chance for people
to rise up in the city than the country side, due to the proximity. Some movements strengthen the
role of the city and create a new way of life such as Renaissance and industrial revolution, where it

After the 9/11 attack, Americans became enraged with those from the middle east, specifically
Muslims. Raisuddin Bhuiyan, who goes by Rais, was a Muslim who immigrated to The United

shortly before the attacks on the twin towers in New York. After making America his home, the
attack itself affected Rais very strongly, causing him to, throb with rage. (p. 24) Though he was
not the only one who was enraged. Many people he encountered or overheard in the food mart

The Lathe of Heaven has no future; the present is the basis of the plot. For
example, every time Orr has a session with Haber, Orr changes the present and

both stories and help put both into a league of their own.
The Matrix and Lathe of Heaven provide example of trends in modern society
throughout their plot. First, both the movie and the novel both portray characters that
have a God Complex. Meaning that they believe they have all the power and it is up to
them to create a world that they see fit. In the Matrix it is the Creator and in the Lathe

they are in complete control of how the world should be. There was Hitler, who decided
we need to exterminate over 6 million Jews and millions of others. A modern day

and does what he thinks what is in our best interest, without listening to our own ideas
what we feel what our best interests are. This is dangerous to society just like in the

Definition Of Democracy And Governance
According to M.P.Barbra, local government means authority to determine and to execute matters
within a restricted area inside and smaller than the whole state. Every state in the world has been
implementing local government system for the administrating services regarding peripheral society.
Local government and democracyis most closed concept in theory as well as practice. Term
democracy and governance are complicated and dynamic concepts in social sciences discipline. It
has a long historical background and goes back to human history. Ancient Athens politics and their
philosophy has provided main base for those concepts and practical perspectives.
There is no a concrete definition or interpretation about democracy or governance. Many scholars
have presented different kind of definitions and interpretations based on their own perspectives.
But, modern conceptual meaning of democracy and governance mainly depends on liberal
democratic principles such as equality, participation, freedom, liberty etc. Therefore, definition of
democracy and governance are depends on the social and political context of the society. Local
democracy is the most important aspect of the democratic governance, because it will give a
holistic view of the nature of democratic practices and governance of the whole society. Further, it
will be reflected form the local government and there governing process of the given country. On

Effect of Liquidity and Capital Structure on Financial Performance: Evidence from banking Sector.
Abstract
This research is titled as the impact of liquidity and capital structure on the financial performance of
Cement sector firm. Capital structure and liquidity both play a vital role in growth and profitability
of the firm. The data of fifteen cement sector firms were randomly analyzed, for the period of 2008
to 2014. The statistical approaches i.e. correlation, fixed effect, random effect and hausman tests
were applied. The results indicated that all capital structure variables, i.e. Debt to equity, debt ratio,
funded capital ratio and Funded debt ratio has negative relationship with firm financial performance
of these selected cement sector firms. The results also indicated that liquidity proxies, i.e. quick
ratio and current ratio have significant positive impact on the financial performance of these
cement sector firms. On the bases of the findings of this study it is suggested that these firm s
manager should take care of its capital structure proxies as it negatively impacting its financial
performance. On the bases of findings, it is also advised that these managers should further
improve the mechanism of liquidity.

Indiana Bat Research Paper
After reviewing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife endangered species list (U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service 2017) for species near my home, I had found an endangered known as the Indiana bat
(Myotis sodalis). The Indiana bat is a medium sized species of bat that has a close resemblance to
that of the little brown bat. The Indiana bat is most commonly found around the great lakes region.
In the summer time the Indiana bat can usually be found in a forested habitat. While in the winter
they are known to hibernate as colonies in caves (Wildlife Department 2011). Upon researching
this species, I came across some reasons the Indiana bat is endangered. The most major threat that
the Indiana bat faces is human disturbance in hibernation caves during the winter. According to The
IUCN Red List (The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species 2016) researcher have found that Indiana

To start new laws and community would need to be put forth to ensure that the Indiana bat is not
disturbed during their hibernation in caves. One way to complete this is by working with the
local government to install gates to block access to the caves when the Indiana bat is hibernating.
Another way to help ensure the survival of this species would be to put forth community
education to help raise funds and awareness in finding cure for the white nose syndrome
(Animals Moms.me 2016). I do not believe that these change would not require that much
sacrifice from us humans in order to ensure the survival of this species. I do not believe the
extinction of this species would have a large negative affect on humans, but seeing as it is one of

Training For A Safer Health Care System
Simulation Enhanced Interprofessional Education in Health Professional Schools
Technological innovations are influencing education strategies and specifically advancing the
domain of health professional education. Simulation is becoming more popular as a means to
provide innovative learning experiences and foster understanding of didactic content, as well as
offer an avenue for students to refine their collaborative practice skills. The Institute of Medicine
(IOM) in its report, To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health Care System, recommended
simulation training as a teaching strategy that can prevent future errors in the clinical setting
(Kohn, Corrigan, Donaldson, 2000). The report states that health care organizations and teaching ...

In fact, when healthcare professionals understand each others roles and are able to communicate
and work together effectively, patients are more likely to receive safe, quality care. In 2013, the
World Health Organization (WHO) issued a set of guidelines entitled Transforming and Scaling up
Health Professionals Education and Training. Transformative scaling up of health professionals
education and training is defined as the sustainable expansion and reform of health professionals
education and training to increase the quantity, quality and relevance of health professionals, and in
so doing strengthen the country health systems and improve population health outcomes (WHO,
2013, p. 11). The recommendations presented target the health professional workforce and aim at
addressing the complex and evolving needs of populations around the world. Two of the
recommendations were about the use of simulation methods in the education of health professionals
and the implementation of IPE in undergraduate and graduate programs. The more recent IOM
report (2011), Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, provides direction for nurse
educators to incorporate simulation in their teaching strategies and promote interprofessional

W.E.B. Du Bois Essay
W.E.B. Du Bois Few men have influenced the lives of African Americans as much as William
Edward Burghardt (W.E.B.) Du Bois is considered more of a history maker than a
historian(Aptheker, The Historian ). Dr. Du Bois conducted the initial research on the black
experience in the United States. Civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. have referred
to Du Bois as a father of the Civil Rights Movement. Du Bois conducted the initial research on the
black experience in the United States, and paved the way for the Pan African and Black Power

exhaustive study of the social and economic conditions of urban blacks in Philadelphia in 1896
and 1897. The results were published in the Philadelphia Negro (1899). This was the first
sociological text on a black community published in the United States. In 1897 Du Bois moved to
Atlanta University, where he taught economics and history for more than a decade. His most
widely acclaimed work, The Souls of Black Folk (1903) was published during his time in Atlanta.
With The Souls of Black Folk, Du Bois had begun to challenge the leadership of Booker T.
Washington, a fellow educator who was then the most influential and admired black in the United

patience, and self pride would build their character and eventually earn them their civil rights. This
is evident in Washington s The Future of the American Negro. He shows the impatient extremists

What s Wrong With Gay Marriage By Katha Pollitt
The essay written by Katha Pollitt, titled, What s wrong with gay marriage is an intriguing one. At
first, the author, explains the notion that marriage and procreation do not necessarily go hand in
hand. And later, she carefully interprets the true meaning of marriage; by stating that there is a
separation of church and state. Most importantly, the author speaks to her audience in a clear and
logical manner; without adding personal biases. Although the essay may seem to have deterministic
view on social behavior. Nonetheless, I believe that does not disqualify the series of argument
which she makes.
Pollit expounds on the true meaning of marriage; by looking at the history of marriage. For a period
of time, polygyny was the rule; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather, it is something deeper more genuine a union which does not need to follow social order.
It is about two people loving each other for how they naturally know how to. This makes the
reader come to the understanding that gay marriage is not an attention seeking behavior; but
instead a sincere desire for another. Pollit concludes by saying the only objection to gay
marriage is based on religious prejudice. Which means that there is no logical reasoning behind
people disapproval of gay marriage. Rather, it is merely something which someone else s god
dislikes. At the end marriage is not defined by religion; but instead interpreted by the government.
Even if the holy book tells you to wed all the people in apartment 3G your still not allowed to do so.
Regarding the controversial issue of same sex marriage. It seems that Pollit is trying to justify
same sex marriage by comparing it to a legal substandard marriage (A man can marry a woman
no matter how ill acquainted). And in the essay of gay Marriage societal suicide by Charles
Colson, he takes the same approach by disregarding all the issues of traditional marriage. Both of
these essays are guilty of distorting the readers perception of what is a good marriage by vastly

The Miracle Of Jesus Research Paper
In Exodus 3:29, the Lord God called the nation of Israel a stiff necked people; thus considering
Israel s obstinacy, and history of rejecting many of God s chosen, it becomes of no surprise that
Israel would also reject Jesus. According to the New Testament Scriptures, Jesus performed
many signs and wonders to authenticate being the Son of God and Israel s Messiah, however,
and as recorded by the gospel writers Matthew and Mark (Matthew 12:22 37; Mark 3:20 30),
Jesus miracle of casting a demon out of deaf and blind man was attributed to Beelzebub or Satan by
the Pharisees (Pentecost, 1981). Hence, the miracle not only caused dismay amongst the Pharisees
but the people who witnessed the miracle as well (Pentecost, 1981). Unfortunately, the people of
Israel were taught through the law by the Pharisees that the sheep should follow the shepherd;
therefore, the people of Israel were unwilling to accept Christ unless the Pharisees accepted Christ.

Thus, in Matthew 12:46 50, it is recorded that Jesus rejected the idea of a blood relationship to the

genre of hip hop culture, has accumulated worldwide recognition for its lyrical ingenuity

of music in the African Americancommunity, as well as lyrics, rap is seen as a form of
communication among black youth of America. Rap like much African American music, is
characterized by the use of beats. Rhythms and lyrics can be traced back to African tribal

Proximity is the way we view things which are close together as a group or look closer than they
actually are. Continuity is taking more of an interest in a straight smooth lines rather than rigid
and rapidly changing lines. Symmetry is when a shape or object is repeated on both sides to
make it a mirror image. We see symmetrical shapes easily than unsymmetrical shapes. Similarity
is objects and shapes placed together as they look similar, where as dissimilar objects are likely
to be viewed individually. There are also laws that relate to common groupings. Fate is when we
see objects that move together as a group. Region is when objects are enclosed together

1900 s Russia Research Paper
In the 1900 s Russia was a world superpower. But the only port, Port Vladivostok, was only

Russia, who looking to expand out farther, asked Japan if they could use Fort Arthur for their Navy,

Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay
Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare
Bacillus anthracis is a rod shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram positive bacterium that can be
transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Before an animal s death, its orifices
exude blood containing huge quantities of the bacterium. Anthrax forms extremely resilient spores
upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. Because of this spore producing ability, even after the
animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1).
No cases of human to human transmission have been reported for this zoonosis. Historically,
human cases have been either industrial, as with woolsorter s, or agricultural (2).
Anthrax can be transmitted via 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, most recent outbreaks have occurred in southeastern Asia and Africa where anthrax is
endemic, often in isolated villages, and therefore have been difficult to investigate.
Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter s disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is
very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its
nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US
Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores
(5). Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as
80,000 spores (2). As shown in Table 2, early symptoms include malaise, myalgias, fatigue,
occasional retronasal pressure, nonproductive cough, and a low grade fever, and are followed by
an acute phase; the acute phase involves respiratory distress, shock, and death (Table 3; 3).
Because the early symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax
diagnosis proves difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease
s advanced progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US,
there were only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few
health physicians have clinical experience with the disease (6). In

War Is A Human Endeavor
War is a human endeavor. Humanity continually pursues solutions to counter evolving threats with
the end of preserving power while also enabling peace. Civilizations resort to war to maintain their
perception of this equilibrium. Defined threats and adversaries have changed throughout history,
however, the essence of human nature and the base concept of conflict itself have not. Carl von
Clausewitzs theories on warfare capture the relationship between humanity and its application of
war, remaining relevant in today s era through their pensive explanations of timeless philosophical
principles regarding the concept of war. These theories regarding war in politics, the key factors
affecting war, and the extent that war is applied are inherently interconnected, providing insight on
the relationships between humanity and its application of war.
One of Clausewitz s most prevalent theories is that war is an instrument of politics, or as stated in
his work On War, When whole communities go to war...the reason lies in some political
situation, and the occasion is always due to some political object. War, therefore, is an act of
politics. War in itself as defined by Oxford dictionary is a state of armed conflict between
different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. Furthermore, politics is
defined by Oxford as the activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially
the debate between parties having power. The 1648 Treaty

After partition, Pakistan, an independent state came into being in 1947 and inherited a colonial

were that it was under financed, bureaucratic, and mediocre and was teaching rather than research

Just then, the country had a poorly educated population and few schools or universities. Even
though the education system has expanded to a great extent since then, debate continues about the

The Stagnancy In The Lovesong Of J. Alfred Prufrock
Stagnancy is associated with failure, the impossibility of man fulfilling his dreams. In T.S. Eliot s
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock is a discombobulated character. Stagnancy is
explicitly showcased into the character Prufrock by his idealistic need for perfection and
indecisiveness. Not only does the character become paralyzed throughout the poem, so does his
future. T.S. Eliot uses an obsession with women including ideas like timeand space to comment on
the negative effect stagnancy has on his abilities. By developing an elaborate character, T.S. Eliot is
able to portray the sense of inferiority and fear brought upon him that caused him to hinder his
growth.
Due to Prufrock s indecisiveness, in the end he is found stuck in his own confinement. He fails to

entirety of the play in a state of constant confusion. Their confusion stems from both the sheer
randomness of the universe, illustrated by the bizarre coin tossing scene, and the ambiguous and
unclear motives of the other characters, who pop onstage and deliver brief, perplexing speeches
before quickly exiting. The play ultimately suggests that the prominent... Show more content on

Rosencrantz blithely flips a coin, notes it as heads, and pockets it, over and over again, never
questioning why the coins keep coming up heads. Guildenstern, in contrast, worries that the two
have entered an alternate universe, since standard laws of probability dictate that a coin has an
equal chance of coming up heads or tails. The more coins Rosencrantz wins, the more frightened
Guildenstern gets. When Rosencrantz tires of the coin flipping, he begins cutting his fingernails
and imagining what happens to the nails after death, foreshadowing the deaths in Act III. His
actions demonstrate a relaxed attitude toward the world: he generally believes that everything is
and will be okay, and he has no interest in worrying about unknowns. Guildenstern, however, shows
a more complicated range of emotions and thought patterns. While Rosencrantz passively accepts
the results of the coin flipping, Guildenstern actively struggles to figure out what the results might
mean. Unlike Rosencrantz, Guildenstern demonstrates a willingness to interpret and engage with
the world around him.
It seems that, while they, or at least Guildenstern, would like to have some understanding of life s
mysteries, they are somehow able to largely ignore an idea so central and personal as their own
fates. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern skirt around major issues, focusing on the minor ones instead.

Roaring 20 s Fashion Analysis
The power of fashion is underestimated by many. I, myself was one of those many. Up until my
middle school art instructor, Ms.Jose introduced me to the fashion world. One day as I worked
on an art project, Ms.Jose randomly challenged me to create a Roaring 20 s look. At the time,
Roaring 20 s was a newcomer to my historical knowledge. Curious to understand what Ms.Jose
was referring to and where I had to get my inspiration from, I researched the history behind this
time period. I was astonished by how much of a role fashionplayed during this era, from the bob
hairstyles, to shorter dresses, and the famous designer Coco Chanel. Inspired by one of Coco Chanel
first collections, I designed a purple and red evening dress and accessorised the... Show more

I had always felt like fashion, was nothing more than wearing expensive and nice clothes.
However, after working on this project I realized that fashion is about empowerment. The
Roaring 20 s was a perfect example of that. Fashion empowered women to explore their sexuality
and stand up for what they believed in, despite society s standards on how women were
supposed to behave. You can take fashion in many different directions, and inspire positive
changes that s why I want to be a Fashion Designer. I am the perfect candidate for FIT, because I
have what it takes. I attended a high school that focused on the humanities, and because of this
fashion classes weren t offered. Throughout all elementary and, middle school, I d taken art
classes, and was part of art clubs where I expressed my creativity through paintings, and portraits.
It was something,I had already mastered. Now, I wanted to master expressing my creativity in my
designs. So I took matters into my own hands and enrolled myself in a Fashion Illustration and
Draping class at Mood Fabrics, located in Downtown Manhattan. There I met Ben, the class
instructor who taught me the importance of knowing all the types of fabrics, and how they drape
on the body. This is what determined

Descriptive Essay On The Bluebells
THE PODGERS
When you are fast asleep in bed and all in the garden is quiet, the Podgers eat their grass soup
and their pea pod sandwiches, put on their leaf coats, and come out from the hedges where they
live. Each one has a pot of paint and a tiny paintbrush, and they set to work. For it is the Podgers
job to paint the flowers in your garden. So when you wake up in the morning and look out of
your window, all the flowers have lovely colours. Except of course the bluebells, which are blue,
and the daffodils which are all yellow. First let me tell you about the bluebells.
Now one night long long ago all the Podgers were fast asleep, the hedgehog had forgotten to wake
them up. Jed Podger s tummy rumbled as he sat up in bed. It must be time ... Show more content on

What is it? said Binky, but before Mustard Custard could answer, Jed was running over to them, red

The Dangers Of Stereotyping
Stereotyping still occurs because the human mind likes to seek for trends. We often attempt to see
patterns and jump to conclusions. Sometimes it may seem much easier to simply assume things
rather than actually analyzing situations. Humans often judge others by generalization society
created on certain ethnicities and religions rather than challenging those beliefs. Stereotypescan also
be a result of people being a bit lazy and uneducated. Many times people take their own
experiences they had to assume expectations from others. Steryoping can be projected in many
ways and forms. It it seem as much as it has back in the day. I believe people have been judging
and crititing one other probably since the beginning of time. In Europe during... Show more content

Stereotypes have been implied to all races, ethnities, religion and genders. It is smoothing that
doesn t end. Although there have been laws placed with the intuition of ending certain
stereotypes, it is still being seen today. Minorities are still being discriminated today. I do not
believe that people should fear an entire race based on the actions of a few individuals. There are
people to be fearful of all races and religions. Every race has criminals and people to be fearful
off. I feel that people who have fear of the entire muslin community are not thinking critically. It
does not seem logical to me to think that one need stop be fearful of innocent kids simply because
of their religion believes. Although I think its wrong, I have stereotyped. We all have. Stereotyping
is almost like human nature. Everyone does it, whether they admit it or not. It does t necessarily
mean that your doing it with bad intentions. I have been stereotyped myself. Probably plenty of
times. People can be discriminated agianst for nearly anything. I have been sterotyped with lower

The Tyger Poem Figurative Language
Why did God create both gentle and fearful creatures? Why did God create a world with
bloodshed, pain and terror? The Tyger by William Blake, written in 1794 and included in his
collection Songs of Innocence and Experience , takes readers on a journey of faith. Through a
cycle of unanswered questions, William Blake motivates the readers to question God. Blake sees a
necessity for balance in the world, and suggests to the readers that God created a world with a
balance of good and evilso that humanity can see goodness more clearly through contrast and
comparison. This theme is achieved through the poem s imagery, figurative language, and structure.
Through the use of symbolism and figurative language, the images Blake creates of... Show more

The expression wings dare he aspire can also be an allusion of heaven, as wings represent angels.
The tiger was born in distant deeps or skies (787), implying that the tiger was created with the
creator s consciousness and fantasy. The verbs: twist , seize , and burnt all foreground the power
and strength of the creator. Through these lines: And what shoulder, and what art,/Could twist the
sinews of thy heart? (787), Blake demonstrates the creator s capability. Originally, sinews is
defined as the very tendon that enables the heart to beat. Blake uses sinews here as a metaphor for
strength, power, and life. Thus, to twist the sinews requires physical prowess. Blake seems to be
suggesting that the creator of the tiger is not only strong; but also, the creator believes in his own
strength and vision. The word shoulders represents responsibilities and burden; therefore the term
implies the risk the creator had to take for creating such a fearful creature.
Through these lines: What the hammer? what the chain?/In what furnace was thy brain?/What
the anvil? what dread grasp/Dare its deadly terrors clasp? (788) a vivid picture of the forging
process is presented in front of the readers. And the image of a powerful, courageous, and artistic
creator of the tiger deepens. It leads the readers to speculate who the creator could be if not God.

Regulating What We Eat
Should the Government be Regulating What We Eat? More than 160,000 deaths are associated
with obesity each year. People from other countries imagine a country overrun by obese and
overweight people when they think of America. The thing is, those make up only .05% of America
s population. Therefore, the government should not be regulating what we eat, like unhealthy food
and junk food.
We ourselves should be able to pick whatever we want to eat. We ourselves know the
consequences of eating unhealthy foods and junk foods and that individuals carry the most
responsibility for weight issues and obesity as it says in a recent poll. Almost 90% of people
believe that this is true according to a recent poll. Some states such as New York have gone as far
as to ban certain junk foods and unhealthy foods. New York s mayor Michael Bloomburg has made

decrease in deaths due to ischemic heart disease. Yet again, this death rate is only a little tiny bit
of the world s population. Less than .05% of the world s population is dying due to obesity. Plus,
people would not enjoy this food that they are being forced to eat. On top of that, a lot of these
people are diagnosed so they are aware of their overweight problem. People with obesity and

Abstract Western Blotting can be used to detect the Myosin actin light chain in different species of
fish and is used to distinguish from different species based on variation, commonality, or
evolutionary divergence. First, proteins are extracted from the tissue and loaded into a gel matrix.
The matrix will separate the proteins according to size using an electric current. Proteins that are
separated after are blotted from the gel and onto a paper membrane. An antibody is then added to

smartphones and similar devices to establish short range wireless communications. It allows the
transfer of information such as wireless truncations using a bank card or sharing photos or
videos between devices. Connection can also be possible between a NFC device and an
unpowered NFC tag which allows users to use a smartphone that is directed to a website or
other promotion. 1.1. What is NFC? NFC is a standardised (ISO 18092) wireless technology that
adds extra functionality to devices such as mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistants
(PDAs). Devices with a NFC chip can set up a small Peer to Peer (P2P) network to share
information. NFC devices also support: ISO 15693, ISO 14443, FeliCa and Mifare Standard. NFC
is a continuation of radio frequency identification (RFID) which also enables contactless data
exchange; NFC has the advantage of a shorter range, which prevents unwanted eavesdropping,
interception and surveillance. As an analogy, if you have something you want to tell someone,

The Career Of A College Degree Essay
1. Brief autobiographical sketch, including what led to your interest in the practice of clinical
psychology.
Elizabeth Gilbert, famed author of Eat, Pray, Love, once wrote, you spend a lot of your life
having people tell you to follow your passion... passion is hot, it burns. Every day, you can t
access that... Instead, follow your curiosity. After graduating from Terra Nova high school in
2002 I felt pressure to follow my passion and apply for a college degree to pursue it. I was
accepted to San Diego State University but declined the offer and instead enrolled in my local
community college, Skyline College. I didn t feel connected to a passion society says young
adults should feel after graduating high school. Instead, I took a few classes over two semesters
and then decided to leave the bay area where I grew up and move to Las Vegas. It was here in
Las Vegas that I discovered what I was curious about (where my curiosities lied?). Las Vegas has
an eclectic, diverse, interesting, and beautiful flow of people constantly coming in and out of the
city; and it was by observing and interacting with these people everyday that I became curious
about human behavior. After taking 10 years away from school I returned to Las Vegas College of
Southern Nevada in 2012 to receive my associates degree in psychology. I graduated with high
honors, as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and continued on by applying to the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for a bachelor s in psychology. It was

  • 2. The Second Sex Feminism Analysis for independence or to maintain a middle class lifestyle with two incomes. Even if women were educated, they found it nearly impossible to get a job that was primarily for men. Job ads in the newspapers were separated into male jobs and female jobs. Also, uneducated women or women of color had an even harder time looking for work. They usually had a position as a maid. Overall, women did not feel as if they had a strong purpose in life. The Women s Movement of the 1970 s and 1980 s was not led by a single figure or group, rather it was run by women as a whole. However, the movement was divided between the younger and older generations, upper and middle class and radical and conservative views. The Second Sex a book written by Simone de Beavoir in 1953, explains how the ideology that men are dominant, is enforced by ongoing myths. It also states how just because women are capable of getting pregnant and menstruating, does not make them inferior to men. In 1963, Betty Friedan, who was influenced by The Second Sex , wrote The Feminine Mystique. This book discusses how women were seen in the mainstream media, and how forcing them to be homemakers, limits their potential. In a survey Friedan conducted using her old classmates from Smith College, it was found that women who played a role at home and worked, were happier than women who only stayed at home (Napikoski). In 1960, the Food and Drug Administration approved the oral contraceptive pill (birth control) which allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thomas Jefferson Vs Hamilton After the Constitution was ratified people had their own opinion about it. The Federalists who were James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay just to name a few has a loose interpretation of the Constitution. On the other hand, the Republicans which was lead by Thomas Jefferson had a very strict interpretation of the Constitution. Both parties had a different view which will cause controversy later on. The Federalist who was mainly lead by Alexander Hamilton, who had the position of a treasure when George Washington was president, wanted a strong central government that rivaled Great Britain. While, Thomas Jefferson, who was in charge of foreign relations (starting 1789), wanted a small, farmer to producer nation. Hamilton while being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Children With ADHD Research Children with attention deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) disorder are normally at risk for other disorders such as conduct problems. In fact, ADHD is one of the most robust early predictors of conduct problems. (Lahey, McBurnett, et al., 2000). These conduct problems can turn into adverse outcomes such as criminality and substance abuse among others. ADHD is defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(5th ed.; DSM V; American Psychiatric Association, 2013) as developmentally impulsive behaviors, inappropriate inattention, and motor activity that cause impairment in social and academic functioning. While little is known about early predictors of the developmental course of conduct problems among children with ADHD, this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The DISC was given in each annual assessment and parents were asked whether the child s ADHD symptoms had caused problems at home or at school. On the CIRS, parents and teachers alike rated the child s degree of problem and need for treatment. Teachers were also given the Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale (Pelham, Gnagy, Greenslade, Milich, 1992) by mail and asked to complete it as part of each annual assessment. In the present study, conduct problems was defined by the number of DSM IV conduct disorder (CD) symptoms reported by the parent and/or teacher. Researchers examined risk factors such as maternal depression using The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM III R, Non Patient Edition (Spitzer, Williams, Gibbon, 1990), was administered to mothers. Mothers also completed supplemental modules to assess the presence of DSM III R lifetime APD and childhood CD, ADHD, ODD in them and in the father s life. Mother and child interactions were coded with the Dyadic Parent child Interaction Coding System (DPICS; Robinson Eyberg, 1981). DPICS interaction categories included direct and indirect commands, labeled and unlabeled praise, child deviance, parent and child affect, critical statements, and child responses to commands. • 5. Internal and External Factor of the United States Army The United States Army is a complex organization made up of several commands and managed by different command levels. The U.S. Army is an organization different from that of a business in many unique ways. Specific examples of these differences include: financial reporting, disciplinary review procedures, and tactical operations. Although different in many ways, the Army shares many similar characteristics of a normal profit business. Army personnel are managed by supervisors arranged in a command structure similar to that of a business hierarchy. The Army will also encounter internal and external factors that could impede or enhance operations. As such, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling must be used by managers appropriately... The Army accomplishes this mission by executing Title 10 and Title 32 United States Code directives, to include organizing, equipping, and training forces for the conduct of prompt and sustained combat operations on land. In doing so, the Army accomplishes missions assigned by the President, Secretary of Defense and combatant commanders, and transforming the future. The planning function of management ensures the mission is always the objective along with orders from the Commander In Chief. The organizing function of management is impacted in the globalization efforts of the Army. The process of transformation of local or regional phenomena into global ones takes the utmost managerial ability from all ranks and corporations sustaining the Army. For instance, institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces in strategic global locations. Organizing and strategic planning functions help the training base provide military skills and professional education to every soldier as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. Technologically, the industrial base provides world class equipment and logistics for the Army which highly impacts the ... • 6. Conscription In Canada Research Paper It is a well known fact that through Canadian history, English and French Canadians did not get along very well. French and English Canadians had many differences throughout history, and as time got closer to the 21st century, situations between these two groups of people got worse and worse. Their main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II situations that caused Canadato change forever. Therefore, the top three events that really caused transformations in relations of French and English Canadians were the conscription crisis of 1917, the Union Nationale of the 1930s, and the Official Languages Act of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he developed and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize the equal status of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act allowed for French Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be recognized for who they are. Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was no longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The importance of this event is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an apology from the Federal government towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had happened to them in the past. The Official Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that the culture of the French was in no danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language wars are over ), one of the ... • 7. Existentialism Is a Humanism CONTEXT Sartre is trying to defend existentialism against some disapproval to it. The Communist criticized existentialism as an invitation to people to take interest in hopeless world affairs. On the other hand, Christians reproached from the fact that people deny the need of attention in human affairs. People have the will to do anything they want and wish. With the example given, about ignoring the Ten Commandments, we can people deny the value of following the commandments and will only follow it if they wish. THE MEANING OF EXISTENTIALISM According to Sartre, existentialism is a principle that provides human life possible. It also determines that every truth and action we know involves both an environmental and a human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Marxists believe that you can rely upon the help of others. That even when you die, other will still continue what you did and help. While Sartre s argument is that he cannot fully trust those people he doesn t know. Yes, he can entrust his works and life with his comrades and family, but not to strangers. Does that mean that I should abandon myself to quietism? NO. What we should do is to commit ourselves then act the commitment made. Sartre stated that man is nothing else than what he proposes. Because he hasn t found anything yet he seeks, he continues to living until the day he found it. You are nothing else but what you live , this means that a man is no other than a series of undertaking, that he is the sum, the organization, the set of relations that constitute these undertaking. • 8. Observation Of A Soccer Field In Elementary School Observation #1 For my first observation I observed my four year old nephew s soccer practice at an elementary school which lasted about a half an hour. They met on the empty field at the elementary school, there were about 3 other teams practicing at the same time but everyone was spread out. The coaches set up cones and pop up goals for the children. There were about 12 15 children there, I think they said a few kids weren t there. There were about four coaches or helpers working with the children. The first thing they did with the kids was a few warm up activities, the first being some sort of running activity where the children ran around following the coaches, next, they hopped in place being silly. Then the kids each got a ball and began a kicking exercise were the had to go around and try to kickthe ball at the cones and knock them down. Then the kids got in a line with their ball and followed the leader around while dribbling the ball with both feet. In the next activity, the children got to practice kicking a stationary ball into the goal. After that, they played a 7 min practice game. At this point, many of the children were in the pre control level of proficiency because for most it is their first time playing soccer and I could definitely tell. There might have been a few activities where some children where at control level but it was very minimal. For example, during the kicking exercise, it was very hard for the kids to control where their ball was going. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Amway in China Amway in China (A): A New Business ModelAssignment Questions1.What are Amway s core competencies?Amway has been a successfully growing business since 1959 due to its unique adaptation of direct marketing. The company has now expanded into over 80 countries and has been to some, an example of the American dream. This was what caused the tremendous growth and is what gave Amwayits most valuable asset; its distributors. Amway s distributors are all Independent Business Owners (IBOs) because they have no legal ties to Amway other than they buy the products directly and sign a brief code of conduct agreement. This however does not mean that IBOs are not extremely loyal to Amway. IBOs are literally the foundation of Amway s pyramid shaped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amway is similar to other direct marketing companies such as Dell Computers in that it reduces product costs to consumers by bypassing retailers. Dell is also similar to Amway because by dealing directly with consumers it can find out exactly what the consumer needs without incurring consumer research costs that will be passed onto the consumer. Although Amway did not invent direct marketing it has been said that it reinvented it. Therefore Amway is unlike most companies that use direct marketing. Amway s direct marketing design resembles a pyramid but it not however a pyramid scheme or a ponzi scheme. A ponzi scheme is a illegal operation that promises high returns on short term investments. It continues with investors keeping their money in the investments thinking they are making large sums of money. News spreads to others who also invest and the amount collected continues to grow. If a few people decide to get out they are paid in order to disguise the scheme. Unfortunately for those who keep their money invested, they will never see any profits or perhaps their initial investment again. This is unlike a pyramid scheme because there are no levels of entry. A person who gets involved first does not collect more money than someone who gets in last. • 32. Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Bacillus anthracis is a rod shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram positive bacterium that can be transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Before an animal s death, its orifices exude blood containing huge quantities of the bacterium. Anthrax forms extremely resilient spores upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. Because of this spore producing ability, even after the animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1). No cases of human to human transmission have been reported for this zoonosis. Historically, human cases have been either industrial, as with woolsorter s, or agricultural (2). Anthrax can be transmitted via 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, most recent outbreaks have occurred in southeastern Asia and Africa where anthrax is endemic, often in isolated villages, and therefore have been difficult to investigate. Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter s disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores (5). Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as 80,000 spores (2). As shown in Table 2, early symptoms include malaise, myalgias, fatigue, occasional retronasal pressure, nonproductive cough, and a low grade fever, and are followed by an acute phase; the acute phase involves respiratory distress, shock, and death (Table 3; 3). Because the early symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax diagnosis proves difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease s advanced progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US, there were only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few health physicians have clinical experience with the disease (6). In ... • 35. War Is A Human Endeavor War is a human endeavor. Humanity continually pursues solutions to counter evolving threats with the end of preserving power while also enabling peace. Civilizations resort to war to maintain their perception of this equilibrium. Defined threats and adversaries have changed throughout history, however, the essence of human nature and the base concept of conflict itself have not. Carl von Clausewitzs theories on warfare capture the relationship between humanity and its application of war, remaining relevant in today s era through their pensive explanations of timeless philosophical principles regarding the concept of war. These theories regarding war in politics, the key factors affecting war, and the extent that war is applied are inherently interconnected, providing insight on the relationships between humanity and its application of war. One of Clausewitz s most prevalent theories is that war is an instrument of politics, or as stated in his work On War, When whole communities go to war...the reason lies in some political situation, and the occasion is always due to some political object. War, therefore, is an act of politics. War in itself as defined by Oxford dictionary is a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. Not only does the character become paralyzed throughout the poem, so does his future. T.S. Eliot uses an obsession with women including ideas like timeand space to comment on the negative effect stagnancy has on his abilities. By developing an elaborate character, T.S. Eliot is able to portray the sense of inferiority and fear brought upon him that caused him to hinder his growth. Due to Prufrock s indecisiveness, in the end he is found stuck in his own confinement. He fails to effectively use his time and freedom which results in the imprisonment of his own mind. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail to interpret the meaning of these things, because they seem to lack such basic information as their own identities, and as a result spend the entirety of the play in a state of constant confusion. The play ultimately suggests that the prominent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosencrantz blithely flips a coin, notes it as heads, and pockets it, over and over again, never questioning why the coins keep coming up heads. Guildenstern, in contrast, worries that the two have entered an alternate universe, since standard laws of probability dictate that a coin has an equal chance of coming up heads or tails. The more coins Rosencrantz wins, the more frightened Guildenstern gets. When Rosencrantz tires of the coin flipping, he begins cutting his fingernails and imagining what happens to the nails after death, foreshadowing the deaths in Act III. His actions demonstrate a relaxed attitude toward the world: he generally believes that everything is and will be okay, and he has no interest in worrying about unknowns. Guildenstern, however, shows a more complicated range of emotions and thought patterns. While Rosencrantz passively accepts the results of the coin flipping, Guildenstern actively struggles to figure out what the results might mean. Every day, you can t access that... Instead, follow your curiosity. After graduating from Terra Nova high school in 2002 I felt pressure to follow my passion and apply for a college degree to pursue it. I was accepted to San Diego State University but declined the offer and instead enrolled in my local community college, Skyline College. I didn t feel connected to a passion society says young adults should feel after graduating high school. Instead, I took a few classes over two semesters and then decided to leave the bay area where I grew up and move to Las Vegas. It was here in Las Vegas that I discovered what I was curious about (where my curiosities lied?). After taking 10 years away from school I returned to Las Vegas College of Southern Nevada in 2012 to receive my associates degree in psychology. I graduated with high honors, as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and continued on by applying to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for a bachelor s in psychology. It was ...
