The Impact Of Arena On The Beginnings Of The Civil War
First, thank you very much for following the advice set out in my last memo. Through a coordinated
media campaign focussed on clarifying the role of ARENA in the beginnings of the civil war, we ve
been able to secure a small but consistent advantage over our FMLN opponents. However, according
to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very fragile. While El Salvadoran
voters have communicated to us that they do not blame ARENA for the start of the conflict, there is
more confusion about the role of the party during the height of the war in the 1980s. Therefore, this
memo will be divided into three parts: first, a surface level history of the conflict through the 1980s;
second, potential academic explanations for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Magaña s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas through
attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983, it is estimated
that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these deaths were the result of
air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border or massacres committed by
government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as El Mozote in December 1981.
Paramilitary death squads were also incredibly active during this time period, at one point killing six
members of the opposition Christian Democratic Party (PDC), resulting in a condemnation of the
Magaña government by PDC leader José Napoleón Duarte. The second phase of the conflict,
following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5 elections, resulted in a reduction in
government violence against civilians and attempts, although ultimately unsuccessful, to reach a peace
between the FMLN and government. The US backed Duarte, who defeated ARENA leader Roberto d
Aubuisson amid allegations of electoral fraud, became the first civilian President in forty years.
Political murders declined significantly during his administration, although there were still civilian
deaths in combat zones and mass displacement concerns amounting to around 1500 deaths per year.

Roman Art Vs Greek Art
I ve always been fascinated with Greek and Roman methodology. As a child I spent countless hours
watching classic films like Jason and the Argonauts or Hercules starring Steve Reeves. I d like to
begin by comparing a few pieces of art that I recently discovered at the University of Pennsylvania
Museum of Archaeology. I ve selected two pieces of art, one from the Roman and the other from the
Greek collection. Each of the pieces symbolize death and sacrificing. Vastly different in texture and
design each piece connects feasting and the celebration of life to sacrificing. First, Greek piece is a
Terracotta Votive Pinax, 450 425 BC and the Roman piece is a Umbro Etruscan Terracotta, 3rd BC.
Each piece represents a symbolic circle of life that celebrated life and honored the gods through
sacrificing. Both Roman and Greeks societies showed continued reference to the gods by practicing ...

Movie like Troy starring Brad Pitt and 300 starring Gerard Butler are hugely responsible for the next
wave of excitement associated with these cultures. While comic books may seem somewhat juvenile,
it s apparent that movie characters like the Flash are mirror images of mythological figures like
Mercury. They each possessed incredible speed and wings which were central to their physical being.
Another character Thor was a combination of Greek, Roman and Norse mythology all rolled up into
one as well. Many of these figures were intertwined with faith, culture, mingling human fathers or
mothers. While we may not a return to sacrificing as part of our culture, it is apparent that we will
continue to see quite a bit of Greek and Roman influences in not only our modern art, culture and
architectural; design for centuries to

Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded...
Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through
patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material
removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and
electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding
performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel,
(4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that
knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will
benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering.
Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases,
rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains,
metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing
advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because
grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed
understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism
easily. Application of micro EDM to dress the metal bonded diamond wheels will show how electrical
discharge energy is controlled to

The Korean Wave
Trending Worldwide: Korean Wave
Rosanna Danica B. Maguad
TRENDING WORLDWIDE: KOREAN WAVE Unlike in the past, Philippine Media is now a
combination of various Asian entertainments. It imports TV series and movies from neighboring Asian
countries. Imported movies are then dubbed in Filipino and streamed in our country. ABS CBN, one
of the top TV stations in the country, started to explore foreign TV series last 2003. This was Meteor
Garden, a Taiwanese drama series. Because of the boom of the said series, GMA 7, a rival of ABS
CBN, made the same move. They also brought in various teleseryes from other Asian countries. They
were the first one to air Korean dramas. Although, both stations tried Japanese, Thailand, and
Taiwanese series, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Korean Towns brought by Korean diaspora in the Philippines provided additional jobs for Filipinos.
Also, Koreans seek to learn English in Philippines. Since the Philippines is an English speaking
country, anyone could teach basic English to them. As the interest in Korean wave continues, the
discrimination of zainichi or the Korean residents in Japan decreases. Zainichi have closer affinity to
Japan than Korea because they were born and raised there. However, they are still discriminated for
being non Japanese national. But when the Korean culture started to trend, the zainichis are now more
appreciated. There is even a Zainichi character who starred in a Japanese television (Brasor, 2004).
Negative effects and criticisms accompanied continuing success of Korean wave. One of these is the
rise of Korean Tribe. This term refers to Korean wave followers who are wanna be of their favorite
Korean stars. Most of them are women. They would imitate the fashion, hairstyles, make up, gestures
or even all the way up in having plastic surgeries ( The Korean Wave , n.d.). In the article South Korea
Culture Wave Spreads across Asia written by Louisa Lim, Dr. Chung Jong Pil pointed out that there is
30% increase of foreigners who went to Korea to undergo plastic surgery. He added that these are
mostly Chinese and Japanese who wanted to make their looks more like

Comparing Katha Pollitt s Why Boys Don T Play With Dolls
It is no lie when it s said that media influences human decisions. For adults, it could be the newest
fashion trends. Perhaps which restaurant has the highest rating and seems to be the most luxurious.
For children, it s the same. Nobody is spared from society and the media s norms. The media, society,
and even human nature in itself affect children s decisions in some shape or form. While this can
sometimes influence children in a positive way, it also limits children the ability to be free in decision
making. In the article, Why Boys Don t Play With Dolls the author, Katha Pollitt, emphasizes that
gender roles and gender stereotypes in children are actually a product of parental influence and society
s influence. It is not children who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A boy can start out loving to play with something usually meant for girls, such as a barbie. This is
entirely possible but then why don t we see this happening in society? It s because with time, the
children are exposed to negative provocation on how barbies are meant for girls. This type of exposure
eventually stop him from liking barbies, and shifting to playing with something more boyish . One of
the best examples of this happening is seen in the short story, Boys vs Girls , by Alice Munro. The
story follows the take of a rural farm girl who feels like she should have the freedom to do what boys
can do. The girl is stubborn and was able to keep her resolve at first. She defied those who believe she
should just give up and behave like a lady . However, how much negativity can a person take before
feeling isolated and hopeless. This is exactly what happened to this rural farm girl. Her resolve was
eroded away by constant verbal harassment. She was told again and again to give up, and just behave
like how a girl suppose to. In the end she finally gave in, and even stated, I guess I really am just a girl
. (Munro 44) This story is an example that with enough influence, a child can be forced to conform to
gender roles. The children then believe that gender roles are the right way to

America’s Domination of the Film Industry
Looking at the film industry as we now know it, it s hard to imagine that America wasn t always the
film producing machine we see it as now. Yet, when we begin looking at all the technological
advances that took place in film over time and the events which occurred during these periods, it was a
complex journey. In the following essay we are going to discuss why I believe that the wars faced both
foreign and domestic played the biggest factor in the American Film industry s rise to dominance by
the 1950s.
Birth of Film:
As with all things it s probably best to start with the beginning; the birth of film. Eadweard Muybridge
was hired in 1872 to capture images of a horse running to settle a debate as to whether all four feet of
a horse were off the ground at the same time while trotting. Little did he know that by capturing these
images he eventually would spark the invention of the kinetscope by Thomas Edison in the 1880s.
By the late 1890s movies could be projected onto a screen and audiences finally were able to attend
public demonstrations. In 1905 the world s first nickelodeon devoted to film exhibition was opened in
Pittsburgh, PA by Harry Davis. Nickelodeons (named for both the price of admission and the Greek
word for theater ) soon spread across the country, the number of nickelodeons reached around 8000
between 1907 and 1908, and by 1910 it was estimated that as many as 26 million Americans visited
these theaters every week.
World War I:

Tropical Rainforest Biome
The biome I have chosen is the Tropical Rainforest. The tropical rainforest has two different seasons:
a dry season and wet season. The rainforest does not have the four seasons we go through here in the
deciduous forest. The dry and wet seasons usually last for about six months. The dry season is where
there is a low amount of rainfall and the wet season is where there is a large amount. Here in the
rainforest you can find many different animals. There is the African Forest Elephant its weighs around
6,000 lbs as an adult. This elephant adapts to the rainforest by living in dense forests. Then there is the
bengal tiger its weighs around 575 lbs and has beautiful orange and white fur with black stripes. It
adapts by being sneaky and nocturnal this helps him catch prey. Also there is the Wagler s Pit Viper
which can grow up to 4 feet. It adapts by being able to sense heat and catch warm blooded animals. ...

Here you can find a Barbados Lily. It is a beautiful soft orange lily that blooms for 10 months out of
the year. It adapts by not requiring a lot of sun. Also there is the Adiantum capillus veneris. It is a fern
that is green and can grow up to 6 12 inches. This plant adapts by being able to grow in moist areas.
Then there is the Toothed Clubmoss. This plant adapts by growing in layers. The temperature in this
biome averages from 64 ℉ to 93℉. The temperature varies little in change. The yearly rainfall here is
around 80 400 inches. The yearly rainfall is distributed evenly. The latitude of the tropical rainforest is
15 ° to 25° North and South. This biome is located near the equator. This biome is found all around
the world. The soil in this biome is poor in nutrients and acidic. It is also wet and damp.
Decomposition in the soil occurs rapidly in this

Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Essay
Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements
Visual representation of reality, as seen through mass media, is acknowledged by sociologists to be
influential in shaping people s views of the world. Our everyday realities are articulated mostly by
what we see in the media. The role of advertising in this interpretation of reality is crucial. The target
audience s self identification with the images being a basic prerequisite for an advertisement s
effectiveness, makes advertising one of the most important factors in the building of behavior models
and values systems. The way a certain notion is managed at a visual level determines how people will
perceive this notion and whether they will identify with it or not. Meaning is encoded in the ... Show

I intend to look at these ads as a group of 20, looking at collective similarities among them and any
common stereotypes and themes in the way these ads portray men. I also intend to examine any
general differences between the ads fro the men s magazines, and those from the women s magazines,
as well as differences along product lines.
I expect to see reinforcement of the stereotypes discussed in Denise Kervin s study as well as the
stereotypes delineated by other authors cited in this paper. I expect that these reinforcements will
occur as much as, but in a different way than is seen earlier in time as discussed in the various
literature cited in this paper. I also expect that these stereotypes will be equally present, yet will
manifest themselves differently depending on the target audience and product being pitched.
Dominant discourses surrounding gender encourage us to accept that the human race is naturally
divided in to male and female, each gender realistically identifiable by a set of immutable
characteristics. In Foucault s terms, relations of difference are social constructs belonging to social
orders that contain hierarchies of power, defined, named and delimited by institutional discourses, to
produce social practices. Gender differences are symbolic categories (Saco, 1992:25). These
categories are used to ascribe certain characteristics to men

What Is The Link Between Pornography And Sexual Exploitation
I have unwavering belief the presence of pornography and thus it s relation to the sexual exploitation
of human beings by far is one of the main sources of sex trafficking. Pornography alone and thus it s
depraved nature is utterly demeaning, it clearly exhibits heinous violence against Women, that goes
without saying. Personally, I have come to know the direct link between pornography and sexual
exploitation that is indeed relevant to the issue by the reason of the 47 year old predator which
inflicted sexual exploitation upon me followed by the continued infringements of my human rights by
way of vengefully driven stalking was as well as currently is a self admitted porn watcher. The
pornography this predator partakes in was exactly the type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Again the same themes are brought to light on the truth of pornography and it s relation to sex
trafficking. One of the cornerstones of the entrapment into sex trafficking is a survivor, having a
history of domestic violence and or sexual violence acted upon them or witnessed so prior to their own
exploitation. It has been statistically proven many domestic abuse survivors and sexual abuse
survivors have felt the impact of pornography upon their lives in the form of the abuser having either
forced the survivors to watch porn and or engage in the degrading acts of pornography in some
fashion. Furthermore, once one has been ensnared by a trafficker or pimp it is not unheard of for these
predators to force the same upon their prey. Sometimes they will do this to further season and thus a
part of the process of breaking in their prey to the acts the survivor will be forced, coerced, and or
manipulated into engaging with clients in the life of sexual exploitation. Now the street corners are
indeed becoming an occurrence of the past with current technology online pornography and what is
known as webcam (or online sex hence quintessentially what is pornography) is taking over the
exploitation industry. It is under the radar, it is difficult to detect, there are few laws, if any, laws
which protect survivors trapped in the seedy world of online pornography. So many of those snared by
sexual exploitation be it online, on a street corner, in a strip club, in a brothel, or even in a place of
residence, whether they are children or Women wherever they might be whoever they may be
pornography is indeed the supporter and facilitator of these

Hamlet and His Delay in Seeking Revenge Against Claudius...

Hamlet s Delay
In William Shakespeare, Hamlet, the ghost speaks to Hamlet, claiming to be his father s spirit. Hamlet
is shocked at the revelation that his father has been murdered, and the ghost tells him that as he slept
in his garden, a villain poured poison into his ear, the villain who now wears his crown, Claudius. The
ghost urges Hamlet to seek revenge, telling him that Claudius has corrupted Denmark and Gertrude,
taken her from the love of her first marriage and seduced her in the lust of their incestuous union. The
ghost also urges Hamlet not to act against his mother in any way. Through out the play, Hamlet has
many opportunities to avenge his father s death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Claudius explains that he has written to the leader of Norway who is currently impotent and bed rid,
(Line 28) to suppress his nephew Fortinbras from pushing this issue. Claudius has done this by
dispatching Cornelius and Voltimand to Norway, the two men exiting after pledging their loyalty (Line
40).
On the other hand, in his first soliloquy, Hamlet expresses unhappiness and wishes he could commit
suicide since the uses of this world have become weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable to him but Hamlet
quickly reprimands himself for such thoughts, they are like weeds in a garden and a sin (Lines 132
136). Hamlet is in fact depressed about the death of his father and marriage of his mother. Despite
Denmark is in a state of high alert and Claudius is preparing for possible war with Fortinbras, Hamlet
s depression supersede being fit to be King of Denmark. Hamlet confesses that his father was so
loving to my mother that he might not betweem the winds of heaven visit her face too roughly (Line
140) and yet within a month (Line153), his very own mother remarried Claudius. Hamlet continues
angrily as to generalizes that all woman like his mother are weak when he says, Frailty, thy name is
woman (Line 146)! Hamlet is second in line to be the King of Denmark but rather than working on a
resolution to save Denmark he is inadvertently depressed and obsessed

The Effects Of Cognitive Deficits On Children
Children in institutional care such as foster care or adoption are at a heightened risk for poor
psychosocial outcomes. These risks include psychopathology, substance abuse, juvenile delinquency,
academic failure and problems with peers. Their poor performance may result from their experiences
of either maltreatment or abuse. Given that this population of children has poor long term outcomes,
their deficits in cognitive functioning will assist in the development of more suitable interventions and
psychotherapeutic treatment services. This study examined deficits in memory using a sample of 5 to
12 year old maltreated foster/adoption children (n=20) and a comparison group of same aged,
nonmaltreated children living with their biological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this is a huge problem in the legal system, there has been a huge debate on whether or not the
reports of recovering memories of abuse can be authentic, since human memory is susceptible to
distortion. These types of memories can either help or hurt people in the system for example
prosecuting an innocent person who was accused of being an abuser. However, very few studies have
been done on the population of at risk children such as those in foster care or adoption. Children in
foster care and adoption are a unique group that deserves research recognition. This population of
children faces a long term life of consequences because of the maltreatment, abuse and neglect. The
importance of being able to understand what child maltreatment and neglect is crucial because of the
danger it can cause a child. Child maltreatment is an urgent public health problem for many reasons.
This paper expects to investigate the negative effects of early maltreatment/abuse on social and
psychological functioning.

Organic Compounds Identity Lab Report

The objective of the lab was to reveal some physical characteristics of two organic compounds to
determine their identity. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer
chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The
unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf
value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed
unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf
value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white
chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most
likely to be the same. The mixed mp with Xing s unknown was 162 163.5 °C. The mixed mp
concludes the two unknowns are the same because the temperature range did not become broader and
lower as if two different compounds would. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mixed mp with benzanilide was 161.5 163 °C, which means unknown #5 is most likely

compounds individual mp. Since the temperature was lower, the crystalline structures of the impure
mixture changed. Because the mp range did not broaden as much with the temperature drop, the
mixed sample may have been near the eutectic point. The mixture mp for the benzoic acid and sand
mixture was 126.1 °C. The organic benzoic acid melted into a liquid; however, the sand did not melt
into a liquid because it is insoluble in the organic liquid. With this being said, the sand had no effect

The Glass Castle Analysis
Glass Castle The Glass Castle, is a memoir, written by Jeannette Walls about her life and her families
uncommon way of living. From a young age Walls and her family were always moving around and
stirring up a little trouble wherever they went. The family faces many problems because of the way
they lived including keeping food on the table, an alcoholic father, and a stable living situation. Even
though the family had all these problems, all of the Walls children grew up to do great things in the
world. Although Walls tone changes as she grows older, Walls uses an underlying ironic and humorous
tone through the whole book with the use of diction, detail, and dialogue.
Using vibrant word choice Walls displays an underlying ironic tone. After Walls burns herself at a
young age, she is forced to go to the hospital where a nurse gives her chewing gum for the first time.
When her mom found out about it she said It was a disgusting low class habit (12). At this point in the
story the readers do not know exactly how bad the family s financial situation is, but they do know
that the family is living in a trailer home. In addition, at the start of the book Walls recalled a time
when she watched her mom dig through a trash can,so her saying that chewing gum is disgusting and
a low class habit is ironic and hypocritical considering she digs through the trash. Walls had a great
amount of respect for her dad, and she also looked up to him. Everytime he was mentioned in the book

Students Should Be Taught In Schools
With the results of the wonderful benefits it provides, it brings a question to mind; what do these
teaching methods do that benefit our education? As a future educator and being in a school where
these practices and techniques have been implemented, to me I feel that this teaching style has a huge
impacted on how students should be taught. I believe that this trend should be continued to be used in
all schools because this process really dives into the fundamentals of teaching. It also gets the students
involved with their education and in my opinion, that creates an environment where the students can
take control of their learning and they can be accountable for their education. I believe some schools
forget that it is the student s job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the bond between students and teachers is stronger and students feel more safe and comfortable
in their environment, then they will be more willing to seek help. Gina Badalaty, has two daughters
who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), multiple learning disabilities and speech language
challenges. When the school her daughters attended moved into the responsive teaching approach, she
was nervous for what would come. To summarize Badalaty s experience with the new changes at her
daughter s school, she said, ...they are both performing exceptionally well at age appropriate
academics. Most importantly, they actually enjoy school, doing their coursework, and seeing their
friends. I m convinced that responsive classroom is an educational approach that benefits teachers,
students, and parents by creating an inclusive atmosphere in which children can learn and thrive
(Badalaty). From Gina Badalaty s experience, it is easy to see that the teaching approach in which
schools use to promote learning is benefiting children in many ways. Students with dyslexia and
dyscalculia also can benefit immensely from the responsive teaching approach. Dyslexic students can
benefit from active teaching since the teacher presents first and then explains what was just presented.
With this students with dyslexia have more time to organize, prioritize and filter new information
(Stevens). Students with dyscalculia can really benefit from the student practice, instructor guided part
of responsive teaching. Here students with dyscalculia can use manipulatives, have more space to
write out problems and even be able to talk out the problem (Morin). Students with ADHD can also
benefit from this learning style. Teachers that have students with ADHD can simplify the instructions
and can post classroom rules on the wall so it is very clear what is expected of them (Weaver

Seahorse Description
The vibrant colors of underwater fish and othercolorful sea elements enhance the beauty of sea
environments. There are more than 30 different kinds of seahorses. Their charming formbeauty and
beautyforms make them an inspiring subject yet challenging to paint. One of favorite habitat of
seahorses is seagrass. For my first project, a yellowish brown seahorse against a blue underwater
background comes to my mind. I want to add colorful seagrass alongside the seahorse rather than
plain green seagrass. The goal is to capture the texture and rhythm of the underwater environment.

new gamboge first at the left side and bottom corner, then move into other water areas. I continue
dropping in thalo blue and ultramarine blue wet in wet. For areas where the main elements are
overlapped, I drop in thick and dark indigo to make them stand out more. Before the wash dries, I add

Not just a drug or alcohol addiction either ANY addiction is going to impact your ability to function.
An addiction creeps into the brain, and things go haywire. Nutrition and sleep are disrupted because

only the addiction disappeared, life would fall back into place. This fails. The only sustainable way to
recover from an addiction is to treat it with a holistic approach. This means that you treat every single
different aspect of your body and mind. Addiction recovery is not only abstaining from your addiction
it is rebuilding your life. A holistic approach will treat the body and mind, as well as outside
relationships and situations. You need to eat healthy. You need to get plenty of sleep. You need to
clean your house. You need to talk to your friends again. If you hold religious beliefs, you need to
reconnect to your spiritual community. You need to exercise, and exercise regularly. You need to
challenge your mind. Doing puzzles, playing games, learning a new skill, reading a book. You need to
start taking care of your personal hygiene. Take a shower, brush your teeth, get a haircut. Take care of
personal hygiene that most likely fell to the wayside when your addiction was gripping

The Tangent Mind In Donnie Darko
The basic dilemma of all human existence is that each element of the psychic apparatus makes
demands upon us that are incompatible with the other two. Inner conflict is inevitable . Richard Kelly
s careful utilization of the tangent universe in Donnie Darko, as well and the characters within it, are
reflective of Freuds aspects of the human psyche, and the unconsciousness mind. Freud s structure of
the mind is composed of the id, ego, and superego and each are represented by one the main
characters in the film. At the conscious level of the human psyche emotional, physical, and spiritual
awareness is fully realized. While at the unconscious level, these aspects still influence and drive the
individual, yet the individual is unaware of their presence. In the beginning of the film, Donnie is the
black sheep of his family, a lonely outcast with no defined purpose in life. As the film progresses
Donnie s level of consciousness cultivates parallel to development of the movie s plot, as he fulfills
his destiny as the living receiver.
According to Freud s ideology the id engages in foolish, illogical, and unrealistic thought processes,
and is disconnected from reality due to its unconscious location (Freud 17 19). Kitty Farmer the
conservative gym coach at Middlesex would represent the id. Kitty is infatuated with Jim Cunningham
a motivational author in the film, whose teachings she bases most of her classes on. When it is later
uncovered there is a child pornography dungeon

The Legend Of Alice Monologue
It was an immaculate wedding, white roses adorning the hedges and everyone dressed in lightly
coloured dresses and suits. Alice, a nineteen year old bridesmaid, attending the wedding as her auntie
was getting married, was in a pale blue dress and had light curly blonde hair. She didn t want to be
there, but she was forced by her Auntie. Her Auntie Paige loved the colour red and didn t love
anything else (she was only marrying for the money), she was so infuriated that there were only white
roses that she ended up destroying the delicate gold and white cake. Alice then began to sneak out, and
explore the intricate hedge maze as she wanted to leave the unfortunate wedding. As she walked along
she smelt the freshly picked white roses and felt the glistening sun on her, she loved the feeling of
being alone; being isolated from everyone, she didn t want to be like everyone else and end up getting
married, settle down and have kids, she wanted to explore and adventure around the world. Suddenly,
Alice spotted a peculiar creature that hopped along in the distance; it had tall ears, lightly coloured fur
and was quite small, it was holding an interesting device that looked like a compass crossed with a

The Squad Of The 14u Team South Football Team
We had traveled in the minivan for 5 hours, for a group of 13 year old boys this trip felt like eternity.
However, our excitement kept us all jaunting to each other about silly middle school shenanigans, who
can dougie better, and how we were all going to murk this tryout. Johnny Evans, Malik Chatman,
Gavin Rose, Ronnie Fountain, and I were all selected to try out for the 14u Team South football team.
This team would represent all the best players in the southeast and clash them against other regions
best athletes. This would be a 3 day try out. After leaving Orlando, the van had finally reached its
destination. Coach Rose jingled to the car Atlanta is the place to be, with orange peaches and southern
tea, we all stared at Gavin as his face turned as red as a Crayola. We pulled into the lot of the hotel all
participating athletes had been assigned right off of I 75. We all unloaded the van of our luggage
proceeded to the check in, Coach got the keys for room 325 and 326. I was so tired of riding in back
of the van that I did not really care how the room would look as long as I could put my bags down and
fall right into the bed. Malik, Johnny and I entered our room 326 to the right was with a bathroom
sink, a mirror, and shower. On the left, a mini kitchen with a stove, island table, and refrigerator. In
front of us, there were two wooden dressers pinned together with a television on top. Near the
window, there was a small table with a lamp as well as chair in the corner.

No Need For The Lex Syn Parameter
No Need for the Lex Syn Parameter: The Case of Reflexivization
Reinhart and Siloni (2005; R S hereafter) claim that two distinct patterns are observed across
languages regarding reflexivization; and this crosslinguistic variation, according to R S, can be
attributed to the setting of the Lex(icon) Syn(tax) Parameter in each language, which determines
whether arity operations like reflexivization should apply in the lexicon or in the syntax. Specifically,
according to R S, in languages like English where the parameter is set to lexicon , reflexivization of
ECM verbs or of a dative argument is prohibited while nominalization of reflexive verbs is allowed.

Maguire s Rebellion Research Paper
The spark that ignited Maguire s discontent into open rebellion was the appointment and ensuing
depredations of Captain Humphrey Willis. This was the same Willis, who had previously been driven
out of Donegal by Hugh Roe O Donnell in February 1592. He was appointed sheriff in the spring of
1593 and quickly re established his pattern of raiding and spoiling that was familiar to the inhabitants
of Tirconnell the previous year. Willis had no legal reason for spoiling Maguire s lordship, and the
authorities in Dublin offered no justification. Hiram Morgan suggested that it may have been an
attempt to suppress a major client of the Hugh O Neill, second earl of Tyrone at a point when he was
cementing his power in Ulster. Nonetheless, Maguire was initially unable to oppose Willis with the
troops at his immediate disposal, but he was quickly reinforced with 100 shot, pikes and Scots
bowmen led by Tyrone s brother, Cormac Mac Baron, and then 120 shot under the commands of
Donnall and Donough O Hagan. Willis and his men took refuge in a church for six to seven days until

Some of the emotions or body language are seen as being positive or negative. The staff may exhibit

result in the decrease of moral within the work environment. When the staff does not have a self worth

Theoretical Foundations Of Advanced Nursing
Pain Concept

Kaplan University
MN502: Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Nursing
Dr. Phelps Introduction
Concepts are ideas that can assist nurses with understanding various situations. This enables
researchers seeking scientific theories in order to identify and measure theory components. It is best to
have clear concepts in order to prevent misunderstandings. Confusion can hinder patient s knowledge
when providing patient education. Poor communication can lead to unintentional non compliance and
delay recovery processes (Stewart, Schofield, Elliott, Torrance, Leveille, 2014).
Pain
Young, old, male, female, we all feel degrees of pain for a variety of reasons. Pain is real and it is
different for everyone. Pain can hold a magnitude of negative effects for all. Medication and non
medication interventions are approaches that can lessen pain. To understand pain, and how to manage
pain, one should explore the true concept of pain.
Pain can refer to an emotional, psychological, or spiritual state; also, pain may result from a physical
condition. The purpose of this paper is to study the concept of pain and to comprehend the
pathophysiology of physical pain. Physical pain can be acute or chronic, mild or severe, dull or sharp,
and in a precise location or referred (Mosby s Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing Health Professions,
2006). Through understanding this concept, nurses can initiate interventions that will ease the

Principle of Management
Introduction
My business club intends to hold a debate competition at the end of the month. I am been selected and
the title has given as, Managers today should use the democratic style of leadership rather than
automatic style.
Before I start this title, I decide to determine both of the style.
Democratic Style
Democratic style is a platform to create a team to participate in the decision making process. When an
enterprise is making decision, they usually use democratic style in many parts of the business.
Therefore, everyone has the opportunity to dedicate ideas to the decision. There are two types of
democratic decision making: 1) Persuasive Democratic Management

This management style is mainly exists in the enterprises.
As a business the main goal as a whole should be to gain a profit. Democratic leadership can produce
high quality and high quantity work for long periods of time. When using this management style, there
is one people making the decision and there is no confusion when during the conception. This also
leads to decisions being made more effective and more efficiency. Employees will love this
management style in business because they feel involved and a part of the process. Their performance
may be rather than in an authoritarian setting, while give them the power to do the work could lead to
some rely on other to bear the brunt of the work on the project. Also, it depending on what type of
work, employees may feel like the work is being pushed down on them because as a manager you don
t want to do it. Furthermore, when employees are making decisions, this can improve their sense of
worth, self esteem and motivates them to perform better. Decision making process may create
advantages such as diverse input, the establishment of emotional attachment with the extra effort of
employees. This style of leadership is ideal for a leader who hopes to make employees understand the
problem that may affect them, and who want the staffs involve in problem solving and decision
making.
Democratic leadership works well for leaders who have the ability of flexibility and adaptation.

The Unrealistic Expectations Of I Want A Wife By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay I Want A Wife (1971), she presents the unrealistic expectations of a wife. Brady
presents her idea with repetition of I want a wife.. expectations from the husbands to the wives, over
statements and with rhetorical questions. Brady exaggerates a husband s expectations for the wives in
order to persuade the audience to believe wives are mistreated and overlooked by their husbands.
Brady addresses both husbands and wives in her essay by bringing attention the husbands and the
mistreatment of the wives. Additionally, she also brings attention to their wives and the abuse they re
facing. Throughout the majority of Brady s essay she uses repetition of the phrase I want a wife.. . The
phrases all describe the high and unrealistic expectations that a wife must do to make her husband
satisfied. Many of the expectations are similar to those of a caretaker, nurse, and slave. When Brady
states When I meet people at school that I like and want to entertain, I want a wife who will have the
house clean, will prepare a special meal, serve it to me and my friends and not interrupt when I talk
about things that interest me and my friends. , it shows that a wife, in this instance, is much like a

Pros And Cons Of Army Simulations Theory
Abstract
Overview/Summary of Both Articles (naming the Article Titles and Authors)
This paper explores four published articles published in relation to the theory presented by Raymond
A. Noe in Employee Training Development. All four articles were published online (Internet) and
compared to Noe s text offline (non Internet). The topics discussed are the pros and cons of Army
Simulations and the virtual training environment of today s soldiers. Three of the four articles confirm
Noe s opinion of the value added (both monetarily, as well as, the ability to train in situations that
would not be possible to train for in real life) of virtual simulations (Sims) in the Army training
environment. The fourth article, however, shows a flaw with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But the cost is much less than the hourly cost of taking helicopters out of service to teach pilots (Noe,
2017). Below are outside articles that either agree with the overall opinion of Noe, or disagree with
certain aspects.
According to Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training Development, the world of virtual simulations
in the U.S. Army is not only cost efficient, but also a training tool that allows soldiers to focus on
important safety issues and emergency procedures that are impossible to replicate (Noe, 2017) in real
life events. This theory is repeated by many. David Vergun interviewed Maj. Mike Stinchfield, chief of
the Training Innovation Facility, Army National Simulation Center, Army Combined Arms Center,
Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for MilGaming
Online.
In this article, Vergun states, Simulators are cost effective in terms of fuel and maintenance, and they
also allow trainers to simulate variables that are dangerous and costly to simulate in real life: weather
conditions, difficult terrain and enemy attacks. (Vergun, 2016). Simulations are used all across the
world to train soldiers of all ranks in basic, and advanced, procedures. For example, Virtual
Battlespace 3 (VBS3) is used at most military installations in the United States. VBS3 is used
primarily to support dismounted patrols and convoy operations; as it is a 3D

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Night By Dylan Thomas
In 1957 Dylan Thomas published a poem called Do Not Go Gentle into That Night. While reading the
poem towards the end you find out that this poem was not only about the inevitable death that one
faces at the end of life, but also that this poem was for his dying father. In this poem Thomas uses a
form of poetry called villanelle to intertwine many themes, as well as, symbolism and imagery to draw
the reader into a sensory experience. Villanelle is a very structured form of poetry that was originated
in the french language before it was introduced to the english language. It consists of nineteen lines of
poetry and it is divided into six stanzas, it is composed of five three lined stanzas and one four lined
stanza. Villanelles also have a very specific rhyme pattern The first and third lines of the first tercet
rhyme with each other, and this rhyme is repeated through each of the next four tercets and in the last
two lines of the concluding quatrain, this could also be called a refrain (Glossary A13). Dylan follows
the scheme very well using the rhyme aba aba aba aba aba abaa. While Dylan follows the poetry form
to a T he also is able to incorporate many themes into his poem. One of which, being a very obvious
one already stated, mortality. Even though death is inevitable, Dylan suggest that people should fight
against the odds to redeem themselves, Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 3). He uses
the dying of the light to describe the sunset which is

Research Outline Gay Marriage Essay
Introduction The Controversy
Same sex marriage permits couples of the same gender to enter legally recognized marriages and
provides them with the same legal rights as couples in heterosexual relationships (Same Sex
Marriage). Opponents of same sex marriage argue that the institution of marriage should apply to only
unions between one man and one woman. Allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry, they say,
undermines the institution of marriage (Same Sex Marriage).
Where the Issue Stands Today

Federal Marriage Amendment
Since 2002 opponents of same sex marriage have worked to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment
(FMA) to the U.S. Constitution. This amendment would define marriage as a union between one man
and one woman. It has been introduced to the U.S. Congress in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2008 but has
failed to gain enough support to pass (Same Sex Marriage)
Proposition 8
On June 16, 2008, California began allowing same sex couples to receive marriage licenses. But on
November 4 of that year, Proposition 8 passed, again banning same sex marriage (Same Sex
Marriage).
California s Proposition 8, which sought to ban same sex marriage, is an attempt to suppress personal
rights and force religious beliefs and codes of behavior on everyone, including non believers. Narrow
minded interpretations of faith often have led to self righteousness and oppression of others, and they
are again on the rise (Stone).
One might argue that Proposition 8 discriminates against gays and lesbians in violation of the Equal
Protection Clause. One might argue that Proposition 8 unconstitutionally limits the fundamental right
to marry. One might argue that Proposition 8 violates the separation of church and state (Stone).
Issue 2: Domestic Partnership and Civil Unions v. Marriage
Difference in Rights
The right to marry is not just about the actual legal ceremony, but an equal right to the extensive list of
legal protections awarded to married couples. These benefits

Gay Discrimination In The Media
Even in the recent public opinion toward homosexuals and same sex marriage with approval and
approval, in the past 40 or 50 years, news media has generally held that homosexuality is a social
issue that will weaken the combat effectiveness of the U.S. military and affect the security of the U.S.

media focus on the question that same sex marriage on the children grow and the past he concept of a

homosexuals will be subjectively influenced by journalists or media holders, but this effect is basically
neutral. However, the point in Davidson s (1991) research is more passive. Anti gay prejudice in the
media occurs not just as vicious as slander, but also as casual bias, perpetuation of negative
stereotypes, deference to the prejudice of others, and lesbian and gay invisibility. Because everyone
has their own standards of whether or not the content of homophobia can be accepted.According to
Davidson s point of view, the opposition to homophobia is much weaker than racial discrimination anti
Semitic, or sexist content, which may mean that the issue of homophobia has not been properly
valued. About framing gay issues in the news media,LGBT coverage need a system to research on

Another shortcoming in this article is that it is hard to know where to go with LaTour s arguments. In
expressing her concerns about the causes of low self esteem, LaTour thinks that the choices a person

a person might not be the only affect of this issue as their surrounding and environment can also be a
factor of having low self esteem. CONCLUSION
This critical review has reviewed an article 8 common causes of low self esteem by Amee Latour .

Technology And The Pursuit Of Reaching Our Goal
Powerlifters, but more specifically women who train and compete in the United States, use many
forms of technology in the pursuit of reaching our goal. As a female powerlifter residing in the United
States I have been to numerous competitions and have had the opportunity to meet many others who
belong to the same demographic. Therefore, I can testify that my goal is similar to that of the entire
group. Our fundamental goal is to lift the most weight on the squat, bench press, deadlift, and the
combined total of these three lifts. In order to reach that goal we utilize many forms of technology. I
have categorized these forms of technology into three sections: technology within equipment,
technology for safety, and technology for information/improvement. Though there are other forms of
technology utilized, these categories cover the majority of technology we commonly employ.
Ultimately, the technology we use makes it easier for female powerlifters, like myself, who compete
in the United States to reach our goal of lifting the most amount of weight on our three lifts because it
allows us to lift without being limited by the amount of weight equipment can hold, without injury,
and with information necessary for improvement. Let us begin our discussion on how technology is
employed in a powerlifter s day to day activities by looking at the technology within the equipment
category. For starters, we lift weight on barbells designed specifically for powerlifting. The tensile

Nicotine Cell Proliferation And Invasion
Journal Assignment 2
Background
Purpose of the research
The purpose of this research is to show that nicotine induces cell proliferation and invasion as well as
epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), even though nicotine is not carcinogenic on its own.
These series of inductions of mechanisms lead to lung cancer as well as breast cancer and pancreatic
cancer.
Type of cells chosen for study
The lung cancer cells especially in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are the primary target cells for
this study. In addition to the lung cancer cells, the human breast cancer cells and pancreatic cancer
cells are selected for the study in order to compare and confirm the similar activities of the gene
expression and mechanism that induce these cancers.
Background of the topic
Nicotine is the primary component of tobacco products, which causes addiction and can eventually
lead to lung cancer through series of metabolic activities. (http://www.carcinogenesis.com/article.asp?
issn=1477 3163;year=2013;volume=12;issue=1;spage=1;epage=1;aulast=Warren ) Nicotine, which
results from cigarette smoking, is found to be the major cause of lung cancer. Non small cell lung
cancer (NSCLC) is referred to as a type of lung cancer that is associated with epithelial cells
(http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/non small cell lung/healthprofessional/page1 ).
The lung is covered by layers of epithelial cells connected with junctions that provide the function of
transporting and secreting

Basic Theories Of Motivation
The term motivation is derived from the Latin word movere, meaning to move. Basically motivation is
a force which is acting on or within a person that cause the arousal, direction, and persistence of any
goal. Motivation theory is thus concerned with the processes that explain why and how human
behavior is activated.
Motivation is an intrinsic phenomenon that is affected by four factors: Situation (environment and
external stimulus), temperament (internal state), goal (purpose of behavior and attitude) and tool (to
reach the target). People are motivated for achieving to the goals, necessities and instincts. Academic

drives that compel an individual to act or move toward the satisfaction of their needs. Major content
theories of motivation are Maslow s hierarchy of needs, Alderfer s ERG theory, Herzberg s motivator
hygiene theory, and McClelland s learned needs or three need theory.
Process (or cognitive) theories of motivation focus on conscious human decision. The process theories
are concerned with determining how individual behavior is energized, directed, and maintained in the
specifically willed and self directed human cognitive processes. Process theories of motivation are
based on early cognitive theories, which posit that behavior is the result of conscious decision making
processes, which is also known as extrinsic motivation . The major process theories of motivation are
expectancy theory, equity theory, goal setting theory, and reinforcement theory.

Gender Relations In English Literature
Literature has a great connection with the construction of gender relations in society in a particular
period written. Gender relations presented in works of literature vary from one period to another.
However, at the same time, the relations have similar bases but the ways they are approached by the
authors are different. English literature has introduced several gender relations in its literary works
from the Elizabethan period to the modernism era. English authors challenged gender relations to
express their perceptions of genders through their work of literature. The representation of male and

The sonnet goes on about talking how real love is more sincere than the representation of woman s
physical appearance as perfection. Beauty fades away in time, and Shakespeare is curious about his
mistress s personality and character that caused him to truly love her. Shakespeare claims that his
lover doesn t represent a perfect beauty: My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun /If hairs be wires,
black wires grow on her head (1,3). His comparisons are undesirable and unemotional, but afterward,
he proves that his mistress outstands any goddess with a perfect appearance. I grant I never saw a
goddess go;/ My mistress when she walks treads on the ground. (11 12). In these two lines,
Shakespeare is stating the facts and is being straightforward. He proves to us that her lover is nothing
like a goddess, she doesn t have any extraordinary skills, she just walks like a normal human being.
Shakespeare s relationship with his mistress is deeper than a physical appearance. He portrays the
woman in a realistic way. He doesn t use positive terms to praise her, but he uses simple expressions to
show the reality of his love. If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; (3) in this line

Righteousness Vs. The Covenant Promises
Chantae Alexander
BIBL3213: Romans
Assignment 3
Professor Jesse Heath
5, November 2014 Righteousness vs. the Covenant Promises
The Book of Romans has set the main foundation of Christianity among the Jewish people and
Roman. This book has covered many different laws of the land that God has given his people. Paul
tries to address the many questions that the Jewish people have about faith, laws and righteousness. In
this essay I will address the current question that many people have concerning the right way to
interpret the meaning of righteousness. Since there isn t a right or wrong way; to interpret God
message in Romans, I will state what I feel is the correct way of the interpretation. The righteousness
of God is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that the righteousness of God meaning the righteousness God gives the people is and will always
be the correct interpretation of righteousness, the message that God intended for us to grasp was to
gain his righteousness and not to gain it by default. Proverbs 13:4 states that The soul of the sluggard
craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied (Bible Gateway, Prov. 13.4).
This passage teaches us that the Lord rewards those try. This passage is the reason why, I feel that the
righteousness of God is earned. Simply because Romans 1:17 states that For in the gospel the
righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, [a] just as it is
written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17).
Paul tells us that righteousness is given to the people, by God in verse 1:17. In this passage Paul
reveals the revelation of God; he is the revelation of the righteousness (van Aarde 1). God pardons
those who repent of their sins , while punishing the wicked , [this shows the righteousness that God
gives the people] (Sanders 305). He God gives all a chance to ask for forgiveness of their sins. It is the
righteousness and tender mercy that the Lord has over his people. Some may beg to different and say
that it s the covenant promise that makes us righteous. Because God made a promise to all man before
we entered the world, they feel that righteousness is given. I

out of the dark hole that we have been sitting in these past few years. He is the man with the plan and

Chemical Warfare During The First World War
Chemical Warfare in the First World War The First World War, while engulfing Europe with four years
of death and destruction, also served as something of a testing ground, allowing nations to test and
deploy the newest and most high tech weapons in their arsenals. It is from these experiences, on the
bitter, mud drenched fields of Flanders, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere, that many technologies that
shape the modern battlefield today, such as the air plane or the tank, were first put to use on a grand
scale. It is here too, that another weapon was unleashed upon humanity for first time, but this one was
deemed so sinister that the nations of the world near unanimously agreed to ban once the war ended. A
weapon so awful that even today, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its use, however, despite its non lethality, served to set a dangerous precedent for the war. German
planners wasted no time in developing their own incapacitating agents to retaliate with, and before
long something of a chemical weapons arms race was underway. The German chemical response
finally came that October, when British forces at Neuve Chapelle were hit with a wave of xylyl
bromide, and apparently the Germans like what they saw. In January, they decided to turn their new
weapon against the Russian army, in what they hoped would send their opponents running beneath a
thick cloud of tear gas. To create this cloud, nearly 20,000 shells were filled with teargas and
unleashed on the Russian positions west of Warsaw. Unfortunately for the Germans, however, they did
not take into account the frigid conditions that occur in Central Poland in July, and most of the gas
froze, the shells harmlessly falling to earth amongst a bewildered Czarist force. In light of the
developments on the Eastern Front, as well as the fact that xylyl bromide was found to corrode metals
and thus posed a logistics nightmare for the men transporting the shells, the German army began
looking for alternatives and finally

Manifest Destiny Summary
The Manifest Destiny is an important part of history in the United States. In order for one to
understand the Manifest Destiny, the requirement of knowledge of the etymology of the word and the
word s significance to Americans. The Manifest Destiny happened in the nineteenth century, where
during this time Americans were determined to move westward. The Americans desired to witness the
expansion of the United States, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. When the Americans
detected open land in the west, deep within the Americans felt the land signified opportunity and
wealth. In the past and to this very day, Americans were arrogant in the means of their culture and
solely believed that the United States was destined to be a great nation. With the migration westward,

The Europeans said they founded the land first and had the right to claim it. The distinction of views
in the means of the open land was the usage. The Europeans viewed the land as wilderness ready to be
tamed, while Americans viewed the land as opportunities. The very problem with the Europeans plans
of claiming the land was that the land had already been claimed itself. Upon the very land, lived
American Indians who had built their own civilization including farming, hunting, and raising their
very own families. The Indians were not too elated with the Europeans so called discovery . The
Indians viewed and claimed the land as theirs. This interaction caused the Americans idea of the land
to change.
The continent of North America was destined by divine providence, to be peopled by one nation,
speaking one language, professing one general system of religion, and political principles, and
accustomed to one general tenor of social wages, and customs for the common happiness of them all
for their peace and prosperity, I believe it is indispensable that they should be associated in one federal

How The Phone Call Has Become Less Popular Over Time
The Phone call has become less popular over time. Among young people, the most popular medium
for communication is via Text Message. For example, when people initiated a date, these statistics
were found; for those over 30, 52% said a phone call, 28% face to face, 8% text message, E mail 7%.
For those under 30, 23% said a phone call, 37% said face to face, 32% said text message, E mail 1% .
(Aziz Ansari. Chapter 2. Modern Romance. Penguin, 2015. Audio book.) Notice the drop in phone
calls from the older group to the younger group. There is a 29% difference in the amount of phone
calls. That s a rather large drop. Now look at the gap of texting from the younger group to the older
group. There is a 24% difference in the amount each group texts. It is plane to see that each generation
differs on their pursuit methods. Process Analysis How to ask someone out on a date. When asking
someone out on a date, you must first pick your preferred medium. Over text, over the phone, or in
person. Let s just say for now, you re asking someone out over text. The first thing you need to do is
asses the current relationship you two already have. Is it a friend that you want to be with, or is it a
new face you want to learn about. The second and most important thing is knowing what to say. You
don t want to say the wrong thing and sound insensitive or rude. Think carefully about the person you
are messaging, how do you think they feel about you? Just keep that

approximately 9.5% of the gross domestic product (AIHW, 2014). Australia has seen substantial

In order to fund the Medicare program, the Australian Government leverages a mixture of funding
sources such as a general tax revenue, patient payments, state level funding, and other private sources.
According to The Commonwealth Fund, the Australian Government funds 43% of all expenditure,
with other levels of government contributing 25%, out of pocket payments contributing 17%, and the
remaining 15% coming from private sources such as private healthcare coverage (2015). In order for
the Australian Government to subsidize such a healthcare program, residents of Australia bear a 2%
Medicare levy of their taxable income (Australian Tax Office, 2015).
According to Australia s Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (PHIO), in order to alleviate some of
the burden on the Australian Government, the Medicare Levy Surcharge is applied to payers who do
not have private hospital coverage and earn above a certain income level (PHIO, n.d.). The Medical
Levy Surcharge was created to encourage individuals to use the private healthcare system in order to

Activity For Success
John Wooden once said, Never mistake activity for achievement. To me achievement means
accomplishing something while activity merely means you ve done something. Don t get me wrong, I
have always thought when a person is in doubt they should just do something! However, in the end we
re all measured by our achievement not our action. In order to adhere to a schedule to succeed in my
online class I believe I should achieve the following; creating realistic goals, devoting the necessary
time to complete tasks, and staying in communication with my instructor. The first step I should do in
order to adhere to my schedule is to create realistic goals. When setting realistic goals it is really
important to define what I would like to achieve.

  • 2. The Impact Of Arena On The Beginnings Of The Civil War First, thank you very much for following the advice set out in my last memo. Through a coordinated media campaign focussed on clarifying the role of ARENA in the beginnings of the civil war, we ve been able to secure a small but consistent advantage over our FMLN opponents. However, according to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very fragile. While El Salvadoran voters have communicated to us that they do not blame ARENA for the start of the conflict, there is more confusion about the role of the party during the height of the war in the 1980s. Therefore, this memo will be divided into three parts: first, a surface level history of the conflict through the 1980s; second, potential academic explanations for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magaña s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas through attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983, it is estimated that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these deaths were the result of air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border or massacres committed by government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as El Mozote in December 1981. Paramilitary death squads were also incredibly active during this time period, at one point killing six members of the opposition Christian Democratic Party (PDC), resulting in a condemnation of the Magaña government by PDC leader José Napoleón Duarte. The second phase of the conflict, following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5 elections, resulted in a reduction in government violence against civilians and attempts, although ultimately unsuccessful, to reach a peace between the FMLN and government. The US backed Duarte, who defeated ARENA leader Roberto d Aubuisson amid allegations of electoral fraud, became the first civilian President in forty years. Political murders declined significantly during his administration, although there were still civilian deaths in combat zones and mass displacement concerns amounting to around 1500 deaths per year. • 3. Roman Art Vs Greek Art I ve always been fascinated with Greek and Roman methodology. As a child I spent countless hours watching classic films like Jason and the Argonauts or Hercules starring Steve Reeves. I d like to begin by comparing a few pieces of art that I recently discovered at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology. I ve selected two pieces of art, one from the Roman and the other from the Greek collection. Each of the pieces symbolize death and sacrificing. Vastly different in texture and design each piece connects feasting and the celebration of life to sacrificing. First, Greek piece is a Terracotta Votive Pinax, 450 425 BC and the Roman piece is a Umbro Etruscan Terracotta, 3rd BC. Each piece represents a symbolic circle of life that celebrated life and honored the gods through sacrificing. Both Roman and Greeks societies showed continued reference to the gods by practicing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Movie like Troy starring Brad Pitt and 300 starring Gerard Butler are hugely responsible for the next wave of excitement associated with these cultures. While comic books may seem somewhat juvenile, it s apparent that movie characters like the Flash are mirror images of mythological figures like Mercury. They each possessed incredible speed and wings which were central to their physical being. Another character Thor was a combination of Greek, Roman and Norse mythology all rolled up into one as well. Many of these figures were intertwined with faith, culture, mingling human fathers or mothers. While we may not a return to sacrificing as part of our culture, it is apparent that we will continue to see quite a bit of Greek and Roman influences in not only our modern art, culture and architectural; design for centuries to ... • 4. Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded... Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel, (4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering. Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases, rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism easily. Application of micro EDM to dress the metal bonded diamond wheels will show how electrical discharge energy is controlled to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Korean Wave Trending Worldwide: Korean Wave Rosanna Danica B. Maguad TRENDING WORLDWIDE: KOREAN WAVE Unlike in the past, Philippine Media is now a combination of various Asian entertainments. It imports TV series and movies from neighboring Asian countries. Imported movies are then dubbed in Filipino and streamed in our country. ABS CBN, one of the top TV stations in the country, started to explore foreign TV series last 2003. This was Meteor Garden, a Taiwanese drama series. Because of the boom of the said series, GMA 7, a rival of ABS CBN, made the same move. They also brought in various teleseryes from other Asian countries. They were the first one to air Korean dramas. Although, both stations tried Japanese, Thailand, and Taiwanese series, ... Since the Philippines is an English speaking country, anyone could teach basic English to them. As the interest in Korean wave continues, the discrimination of zainichi or the Korean residents in Japan decreases. Zainichi have closer affinity to Japan than Korea because they were born and raised there. However, they are still discriminated for being non Japanese national. But when the Korean culture started to trend, the zainichis are now more appreciated. There is even a Zainichi character who starred in a Japanese television (Brasor, 2004). Negative effects and criticisms accompanied continuing success of Korean wave. One of these is the rise of Korean Tribe. This term refers to Korean wave followers who are wanna be of their favorite Korean stars. Most of them are women. They would imitate the fashion, hairstyles, make up, gestures or even all the way up in having plastic surgeries ( The Korean Wave , n.d.). • 6. Comparing Katha Pollitt s Why Boys Don T Play With Dolls It is no lie when it s said that media influences human decisions. For adults, it could be the newest fashion trends. Perhaps which restaurant has the highest rating and seems to be the most luxurious. For children, it s the same. Nobody is spared from society and the media s norms. The media, society, and even human nature in itself affect children s decisions in some shape or form. While this can sometimes influence children in a positive way, it also limits children the ability to be free in decision making. In the article, Why Boys Don t Play With Dolls the author, Katha Pollitt, emphasizes that gender roles and gender stereotypes in children are actually a product of parental influence and society s influence. It is not children who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A boy can start out loving to play with something usually meant for girls, such as a barbie. This is entirely possible but then why don t we see this happening in society? It s because with time, the children are exposed to negative provocation on how barbies are meant for girls. This type of exposure eventually stop him from liking barbies, and shifting to playing with something more boyish . One of the best examples of this happening is seen in the short story, Boys vs Girls , by Alice Munro. The story follows the take of a rural farm girl who feels like she should have the freedom to do what boys can do. The girl is stubborn and was able to keep her resolve at first. She defied those who believe she should just give up and behave like a lady . However, how much negativity can a person take before feeling isolated and hopeless. This is exactly what happened to this rural farm girl. Her resolve was eroded away by constant verbal harassment. She was told again and again to give up, and just behave like how a girl suppose to. In the end she finally gave in, and even stated, I guess I really am just a girl . (Munro 44) This story is an example that with enough influence, a child can be forced to conform to gender roles. The children then believe that gender roles are the right way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. America’s Domination of the Film Industry Looking at the film industry as we now know it, it s hard to imagine that America wasn t always the film producing machine we see it as now. Yet, when we begin looking at all the technological advances that took place in film over time and the events which occurred during these periods, it was a complex journey. In the following essay we are going to discuss why I believe that the wars faced both foreign and domestic played the biggest factor in the American Film industry s rise to dominance by the 1950s. Birth of Film: As with all things it s probably best to start with the beginning; the birth of film. Eadweard Muybridge was hired in 1872 to capture images of a horse running to settle a debate as to whether all four feet of a horse were off the ground at the same time while trotting. Little did he know that by capturing these images he eventually would spark the invention of the kinetscope by Thomas Edison in the 1880s. By the late 1890s movies could be projected onto a screen and audiences finally were able to attend public demonstrations. In 1905 the world s first nickelodeon devoted to film exhibition was opened in Pittsburgh, PA by Harry Davis. Nickelodeons (named for both the price of admission and the Greek word for theater ) soon spread across the country, the number of nickelodeons reached around 8000 between 1907 and 1908, and by 1910 it was estimated that as many as 26 million Americans visited these theaters every week. The rainforest does not have the four seasons we go through here in the deciduous forest. The dry and wet seasons usually last for about six months. The dry season is where there is a low amount of rainfall and the wet season is where there is a large amount. Here in the rainforest you can find many different animals. There is the African Forest Elephant its weighs around 6,000 lbs as an adult. This elephant adapts to the rainforest by living in dense forests. Then there is the bengal tiger its weighs around 575 lbs and has beautiful orange and white fur with black stripes. It adapts by being sneaky and nocturnal this helps him catch prey. • 9. Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Essay Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Visual representation of reality, as seen through mass media, is acknowledged by sociologists to be influential in shaping people s views of the world. Our everyday realities are articulated mostly by what we see in the media. The role of advertising in this interpretation of reality is crucial. The target audience s self identification with the images being a basic prerequisite for an advertisement s effectiveness, makes advertising one of the most important factors in the building of behavior models and values systems. The way a certain notion is managed at a visual level determines how people will perceive this notion and whether they will identify with it or not. Meaning is encoded in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I intend to look at these ads as a group of 20, looking at collective similarities among them and any common stereotypes and themes in the way these ads portray men. I also intend to examine any general differences between the ads fro the men s magazines, and those from the women s magazines, as well as differences along product lines. I expect to see reinforcement of the stereotypes discussed in Denise Kervin s study as well as the stereotypes delineated by other authors cited in this paper. I expect that these reinforcements will occur as much as, but in a different way than is seen earlier in time as discussed in the various literature cited in this paper. I also expect that these stereotypes will be equally present, yet will manifest themselves differently depending on the target audience and product being pitched. Dominant discourses surrounding gender encourage us to accept that the human race is naturally divided in to male and female, each gender realistically identifiable by a set of immutable characteristics. In Foucault s terms, relations of difference are social constructs belonging to social orders that contain hierarchies of power, defined, named and delimited by institutional discourses, to produce social practices. Gender differences are symbolic categories (Saco, 1992:25). These categories are used to ascribe certain characteristics to men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. What Is The Link Between Pornography And Sexual Exploitation I have unwavering belief the presence of pornography and thus it s relation to the sexual exploitation of human beings by far is one of the main sources of sex trafficking. Pornography alone and thus it s depraved nature is utterly demeaning, it clearly exhibits heinous violence against Women, that goes without saying. Personally, I have come to know the direct link between pornography and sexual exploitation that is indeed relevant to the issue by the reason of the 47 year old predator which inflicted sexual exploitation upon me followed by the continued infringements of my human rights by way of vengefully driven stalking was as well as currently is a self admitted porn watcher. The pornography this predator partakes in was exactly the type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again the same themes are brought to light on the truth of pornography and it s relation to sex trafficking. One of the cornerstones of the entrapment into sex trafficking is a survivor, having a history of domestic violence and or sexual violence acted upon them or witnessed so prior to their own exploitation. It has been statistically proven many domestic abuse survivors and sexual abuse survivors have felt the impact of pornography upon their lives in the form of the abuser having either forced the survivors to watch porn and or engage in the degrading acts of pornography in some fashion. Furthermore, once one has been ensnared by a trafficker or pimp it is not unheard of for these predators to force the same upon their prey. Sometimes they will do this to further season and thus a part of the process of breaking in their prey to the acts the survivor will be forced, coerced, and or manipulated into engaging with clients in the life of sexual exploitation. Now the street corners are indeed becoming an occurrence of the past with current technology online pornography and what is known as webcam (or online sex hence quintessentially what is pornography) is taking over the exploitation industry. It is under the radar, it is difficult to detect, there are few laws, if any, laws which protect survivors trapped in the seedy world of online pornography. So many of those snared by sexual exploitation be it online, on a street corner, in a strip club, in a brothel, or even in a place of residence, whether they are children or Women wherever they might be whoever they may be pornography is indeed the supporter and facilitator of these ... Zikima Sawyer English 102:002 Professor Hayes November 11, 2011 Hamlet s Delay In William Shakespeare, Hamlet, the ghost speaks to Hamlet, claiming to be his father s spirit. Hamlet is shocked at the revelation that his father has been murdered, and the ghost tells him that as he slept in his garden, a villain poured poison into his ear, the villain who now wears his crown, Claudius. The ghost urges Hamlet to seek revenge, telling him that Claudius has corrupted Denmark and Gertrude, taken her from the love of her first marriage and seduced her in the lust of their incestuous union. The ghost also urges Hamlet not to act against his mother in any way. Through out the play, Hamlet has many opportunities to avenge his father s death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Claudius explains that he has written to the leader of Norway who is currently impotent and bed rid, (Line 28) to suppress his nephew Fortinbras from pushing this issue. Claudius has done this by dispatching Cornelius and Voltimand to Norway, the two men exiting after pledging their loyalty (Line 40). On the other hand, in his first soliloquy, Hamlet expresses unhappiness and wishes he could commit suicide since the uses of this world have become weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable to him but Hamlet quickly reprimands himself for such thoughts, they are like weeds in a garden and a sin (Lines 132 136). Hamlet is in fact depressed about the death of his father and marriage of his mother. Despite Denmark is in a state of high alert and Claudius is preparing for possible war with Fortinbras, Hamlet s depression supersede being fit to be King of Denmark. These risks include psychopathology, substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, academic failure and problems with peers. Given that this population of children has poor long term outcomes, their deficits in cognitive functioning will assist in the development of more suitable interventions and psychotherapeutic treatment services. Since this is a huge problem in the legal system, there has been a huge debate on whether or not the reports of recovering memories of abuse can be authentic, since human memory is susceptible to distortion. These types of memories can either help or hurt people in the system for example prosecuting an innocent person who was accused of being an abuser. However, very few studies have been done on the population of at risk children such as those in foster care or adoption. Children in foster care and adoption are a unique group that deserves research recognition. This population of children faces a long term life of consequences because of the maltreatment, abuse and neglect. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most likely to be the same. • 15. The Glass Castle Analysis Glass Castle The Glass Castle, is a memoir, written by Jeannette Walls about her life and her families uncommon way of living. From a young age Walls and her family were always moving around and stirring up a little trouble wherever they went. The family faces many problems because of the way they lived including keeping food on the table, an alcoholic father, and a stable living situation. Even though the family had all these problems, all of the Walls children grew up to do great things in the world. Although Walls tone changes as she grows older, Walls uses an underlying ironic and humorous tone through the whole book with the use of diction, detail, and dialogue. Using vibrant word choice Walls displays an underlying ironic tone. After Walls burns herself at a young age, she is forced to go to the hospital where a nurse gives her chewing gum for the first time. When her mom found out about it she said It was a disgusting low class habit (12). At this point in the story the readers do not know exactly how bad the family s financial situation is, but they do know that the family is living in a trailer home. In addition, at the start of the book Walls recalled a time when she watched her mom dig through a trash can,so her saying that chewing gum is disgusting and a low class habit is ironic and hypocritical considering she digs through the trash. As a future educator and being in a school where these practices and techniques have been implemented, to me I feel that this teaching style has a huge impacted on how students should be taught. I believe that this trend should be continued to be used in all schools because this process really dives into the fundamentals of teaching. To summarize Badalaty s experience with the new changes at her daughter s school, she said, ...they are both performing exceptionally well at age appropriate academics. Most importantly, they actually enjoy school, doing their coursework, and seeing their friends. I m convinced that responsive classroom is an educational approach that benefits teachers, students, and parents by creating an inclusive atmosphere in which children can learn and thrive (Badalaty). From Gina Badalaty s experience, it is easy to see that the teaching approach in which schools use to promote learning is benefiting children in many ways. Students with dyslexia and dyscalculia also can benefit immensely from the responsive teaching approach. Dyslexic students can benefit from active teaching since the teacher presents first and then explains what was just presented. With this students with dyslexia have more time to organize, prioritize and filter new information (Stevens). Students with dyscalculia can really benefit from the student practice, instructor guided part of responsive teaching. Inner conflict is inevitable . Richard Kelly s careful utilization of the tangent universe in Donnie Darko, as well and the characters within it, are reflective of Freuds aspects of the human psyche, and the unconsciousness mind. Freud s structure of the mind is composed of the id, ego, and superego and each are represented by one the main characters in the film. He was appointed sheriff in the spring of 1593 and quickly re established his pattern of raiding and spoiling that was familiar to the inhabitants of Tirconnell the previous year. Willis had no legal reason for spoiling Maguire s lordship, and the authorities in Dublin offered no justification. Nonetheless, Maguire was initially unable to oppose Willis with the troops at his immediate disposal, but he was quickly reinforced with 100 shot, pikes and Scots bowmen led by Tyrone s brother, Cormac Mac Baron, and then 120 shot under the commands of Donnall and Donough O Hagan. While reading the poem towards the end you find out that this poem was not only about the inevitable death that one faces at the end of life, but also that this poem was for his dying father. In this poem Thomas uses a form of poetry called villanelle to intertwine many themes, as well as, symbolism and imagery to draw the reader into a sensory experience. Villanelle is a very structured form of poetry that was originated in the french language before it was introduced to the english language. Allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry, they say, undermines the institution of marriage (Same Sex Marriage). But on November 4 of that year, Proposition 8 passed, again banning same sex marriage (Same Sex Marriage). California s Proposition 8, which sought to ban same sex marriage, is an attempt to suppress personal rights and force religious beliefs and codes of behavior on everyone, including non believers. Narrow minded interpretations of faith often have led to self righteousness and oppression of others, and they are again on the rise (Stone). One might argue that Proposition 8 discriminates against gays and lesbians in violation of the Equal Protection Clause. One might argue that Proposition 8 unconstitutionally limits the fundamental right to marry. One might argue that Proposition 8 violates the separation of church and state (Stone). As a female powerlifter residing in the United States I have been to numerous competitions and have had the opportunity to meet many others who belong to the same demographic. Therefore, I can testify that my goal is similar to that of the entire group. Our fundamental goal is to lift the most weight on the squat, bench press, deadlift, and the combined total of these three lifts. In order to reach that goal we utilize many forms of technology. I have categorized these forms of technology into three sections: technology within equipment, technology for safety, and technology for information/improvement. Though there are other forms of technology utilized, these categories cover the majority of technology we commonly employ. Ultimately, the technology we use makes it easier for female powerlifters, like myself, who compete in the United States to reach our goal of lifting the most amount of weight on our three lifts because it allows us to lift without being limited by the amount of weight equipment can hold, without injury, and with information necessary for improvement. Let us begin our discussion on how technology is employed in a powerlifter s day to day activities by looking at the technology within the equipment category. For starters, we lift weight on barbells designed specifically for powerlifting. The tensile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
