Should Schools Be Allowed To Separate Boys From Girls...
If schools were to separate boys from girls I would not attend. Most of us have a close friend of the
opposite gender so would you want to leave your close friend just because someone else wants you to?
I know that I would not want to have to because if you are friends you feel like you have the right to
be with them despite what other people may think. I ve been best friends with a boy named
Karlmichel since we were both in the first grade, and even though we have our ups and downs, he has
always been there for me as I have been there for him. To be honest, separating boys from girls makes
me feel as if I m irresponsible, because boys and girls actually can be friends without having to be in a
relationship. It just shows how immature some adults think us kids or teens are. ... Show more content

A mother from California was quoted as saying, most girls have a different mindset than that of boys
and both together can understand or create another way of doing things . In my opinion schools
shouldn t be allowed to separate males from females because sometimes boy and girls get along much
better than girls and girls or than boys and boys. I believe that schools should never be separated by
gender. I am in high school and I am a girl. I don t have many friends that are girls, nevertheless, I am
friends with a lot of guys. I believe that they are much less drama then

Same Sex Marriage Should Be Legalized . The Same Sex Marriage
Same sex marriage should be legalized
The same sex marriage has been widely debated in many countries for a long time. It is
an important issue because it concerns basic moral and human rights. People all over the world
come to the United States in search of freedom and equality. Being able to marry anyone, no
matter the gender, is a freedom of right, but if that freedom of right is taken away from people
than there is no equality. Homosexual people in the United States are people that deserve
freedom and equality and taking away their right to marriage is taking away their equality with
the rest of Americans. Even though certain religions are against same sex marriage, same sex ... Show

Writing for the majority, Justice
Anthony Kennedy states that no union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the
highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. Kennedy goes on to say that gay
and lesbian couples ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them
that right. ( Nasci1). I think this amendment protects the rights of homosexuals. Same sex
marriage should be legal because all individuals have the same right in society; same sex couples
can constitute a good based family. It is just a way to make official a common union nowadays,
even there are religious issue; because it is not related to polygamy; and because love matters
and it does not differ in nature according to the sex of its object or the person who experiences it.
Prior to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, same sex marriage is only legal in some states.
Some states do not agree with same sex marriage. Same sex marriage was legal in 36 states and
the District of Columbia. In 19 of those states. (Nascri). I think same sex marriage should be
legal. The state should not say anything about agreeing to an adult s way of life. If two people
love each other and want to get married, regardless of their partner s color, religion, nationality or
gender, they should be allowed to do so love and marriage should be purely a personal choice.

Vietnam War Causes
The causes of the Vietnam War go back to World War ll and the Cold War. During World War ll, the
United States and the Soviet Union were allies, however it was an uneasy relationship. The Americans
had always been vigilant of Russian communism and Stalin s rule. After the war, the USSR set up
communist governments in several eastern European Countries after they were freed from Nazi
control. In 1949 communism spread to Asia as Communist governments took over in North Korea and
China. The Americans were worried that surrounding countries would become communist, this was
known as the Domino Effect. This provoked more fear into the Americans; the threat of Soviet world
domination and communism started the beginning of the Cold War.
In Vietnam during the war, Indochina (a French Colony) had been taken over by the Japanese in 1941.
Ho Chi Minh started a Nationalist movement to resist the occupiers, this was called Viet Minh. With
the support of the United States, Vietnam managed to defeat the Japanese. However, after this the
French returned to take possession of their colony. This started the Indochina War. After the French
were defeated at Dien Bien Phu. The Geneva Records of 1954 ultimately settled the Indochina war.
This meant that Vietnam was split in to two parts. Along the 17th parallel. The north, a communist
state ruled by the Viet Minh and the south, a democratic state, ruled by Prime minister Ngo Dinh
Diem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originally America had no interest in Vietnam or South east Asia. However the Domino theory that
communism would spread caused the American States to come back with their own attack. The goal
of the United States was to contain communism within its present borders. Consequently, America
started funding Diem and the South to combat the spread of communism by the Viet Cong in the
north. As the conflict escalated, more U.S. were sent, and by 1962 there were 9,000 American

Essay on 1980s
This report is to inform you on the decade of the 1980s. People s jobs, income, ideas, opinions
changed so much from 1980 to 1989.
Fewer Americans belonged to labor unions in the 1980s. In 1980 there were nearly 21 million union
members; that number had declined to 17 million by 1985. The most important aspect of a job for the
majority of Americans was a feeling of accomplishment, beating out high pay by a better than 2 to 1
margin. In the mid Eighties, 88% of Americans said they were satisfied with their jobs. In spite of this,
less than 40% expected to remain in their current job for more than five years. Most Americans didn t
think it would be difficult to get another job. This indicated general optimism about the economy and

This is the first time this had happened in modern times. Interracial marriages accounted for only
1.3% of the total in 1982. Three fourths of all first marriages occurred in a religious setting the other
third were done by eloping. A 1983 survey of 100,000 adults showed that 48% of married men and
38% of married women had affairs. This had increased the rate of divorce.
In 1984, some level of government employed 18 million Americans. The federal government
employed 2.9 million. The Postal Service employed nearly 750,000 people this year. During this time,
the average household spent $21,788 a year, paying for taxes, mortgage or rent, car payments, food,
and clothing.
A 1984 study showed that 53% of 18 year old girls were having sex. A similar study showed that 66%
of 18 year old boys were doing to the same. Less than half of both boys and girls used any protection.
This caused 4 out of 10 teenage girls to become pregnant before they were 20. Most young girls were
single mothers between the ages 18 29.To add to this, nearly half of the 892,000 teenage pregnancies
ended in abortion. Teenagers with poor school grades were more likely to be sexually experienced,
while those with good grades were less likely.
In the Eighties, kids were not in very good physical condition. Only 2% of 18 million kids passed the
Presidential Physical Fitness test in 1984. Only about one in three met the Amateur Athletic Union s

Variability Within The Dopamine System
Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development.
Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and
Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al.,
2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a
complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription
factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007; Smits et
al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2, Gsg2k1,
Pbx1/3, Ahd2, and Dssrl1 are expressed in subsets of SNc dopamine neurons and ... Show more

The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial VTA
neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA. It has also
been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of the Otx2+
neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et al., 2010; Liang
et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight anatomical and molecular
topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the midbrain nuclei (Fig 1).
One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine system.
They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and used a
microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single neurons
(Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also uncovered
10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked genes: Atp13a2,
Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3, and Nr4a2).
Although informative, this study does have some limitations. Firstly the method used restricts the
identification of novel subgroups to a combination of only 96 different genes taken from previous
gene expression studies. This could have

Advantages Of African American Freedom
Freedom is the power to determine action without restraint, and it is the foundation of our lives today.
Every race has the freedom to vote, go to whichever school they choose, take place in office, sit in any
sector of the bus, etc. Around the 1860 s, Northern African Americans had freedom, but unlike today,
their freedom was restricted. In 1850, before the beginning of the civil war, the population census
concluded that fourteen percent of the population was African American. By 1860, 476,000 of them
were free from slavery, but only 221,000 lived in the North. After winning the Revolutionary war the
Northern states gradually began to end slavery and it was officially abolished in 1842. With all factors
in mind, the question of just how free blacks were in the North still lingers in the air. Blacks in the
North were only somewhat free in the years just before the civil war because they endured restrictions
in social, political, and educational areas of society.
To begin with, northern blacks were only somewhat free because they still had to encounter
segregation, discrimination, and prejudice in their social freedom. Although they were free to live,
they had to use restrooms, public areas, schools, etc. that were specifically assigned to their race. An
English Visitor, Charles Mackay, defined his travels by stating, he shall not be free to dine and drink at
our board...to attend us at the bed of sickness and pain to mingle with us in the concert room, the
lecture room, the theatre, or the church, (document B). African Americans were not given the
opportunity to associate with anyone of the white race, nor were they allowed to be in the same
location as them. Since the white race was considered the superior race , and were heavily
discriminant towards the black race, their segregated public facilities were a lot nicer than those of
african americans. Also, prejudice made it harder for black people to attain jobs. In a graduation
speech made by an african american, he proclaimed white boys won t work with me. Shall I be a
merchant? No one will have me in his office (document C). Because of their race, african americans
struggled to get employed. In society, northern blacks had to suffer through

Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female...
Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system is an intriguing and
complex system that contains internal and external structures. Its external structures consist of the
labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and bartholens glands which all make up the vagina. These
structures all work together to protect the vagina as well as lubricate it. The vagina is an elastic,
muscular canal through which a baby can pass through during childbirth. The system s internal
structures are the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. The uterus is responsible for holding and
nourishing a fetus while it develops during a nine month term. The ovaries are the structures that make
it possible for a woman to reproduce; they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously stated the process through which follicles enlarge and release a mature egg into the
fallopian tube is most commonly known as ovulation. The ovulation cycle is divided into two parts
with the follicular phase being the beginning part in which the egg matures. The ovulatory phase then
begins during the middle of a female s menstrual cycle in which cervical fluids increase and become
more fertile. An increase in the LH hormone levels affect the ovarian follicle causing a hole, or stigma
to appear on the surface of the follicle. At this point in the course of ovulation, the egg is pushed down
the fallopian tube into the uterus where it will wait 12 24 hours to be fertilized by a sperm cell before
it disintegrates. The series of changes in the female reproductive system that include producing an egg
and preparing the uterus to nurture it for nine months is called the menstrual cycle. This process
begins during the pubescent years of a female and ends when said female goes through menopause.
The menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal
phase and menstruation phase if the egg is not fertilized. During the first phase of the cycle (follicular
phase) estrogen, a female hormone, causes the endometrium to grow and develop in order to prepare
for a possible fertilized egg. The spike in the estrogen levels cause FSH

German migration to U.S, Assimilation, and what did the contributions or how did they influence
American culture. From this research I learned that German immigrants and their children identity
meant maintenance of their language and religious institutions. That the Germans left their homeland
for freedom from military, religious, political oppression, and for economic reason. Since German was
overpopulation that individual who lived in rural communities can t get jobs in the cities. Which made

The Architecture Of Schonbrunn Palace
Introduction
Schönbrunn Palace is a political, cultural, and artistic marvel as it stands today and during the period it
was made and as it exists today. The building and all surrounding buildings are meant to be taken in as
a whole, as if it were four walls of canvases each unique and significant while still being part of the
room. Schönbrunn is seen as a Gesamtkunstwerks. It was meant to out shine Versailles Palace in
France. (5,6) From the height of the Hapsburg Empire to the present, the Baroque style Schönbrunn
Palace has provided a splendid showcase for Austria s rich cultural tradition. It is situated on the
premises of former hunting grounds, the Baroque palace, completed in 1713 still stand to contest its
beauty against other baroque style palaces. While it is a precedent of Versailles its Zoo also became a
precedent for future architecture. The typology of this site is one of monarchical power, leisure
hunting, and the summer home, as well as heritage.(2, 3, 6) This paper will describe the Schönbrunn
Palace and provide a historical exploration of the cultural form. The paper will begin with, a physical
description of Palace and surrounding areas, which will explore aspects such as the structure, and
decorative aspects, Buildings and other landmarks that are a part of the overall Palace. Following the
physical description, the historical context of the site will be analyzed, after which the principles of
design will be explained.

Michael Jackson Sang The Famous Line, If You Wan Na Make...
If humanity takes the time to sit down and internalize, one of the questions coming to mind has to do
with why is it often afraid of change? Change is in fact a big theme in the 1987 hit song The Man in
the Mirror (Appendix E), where the late artist Michael Jackson sang the famous line, If you wanna
make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Fast forward to a modern
day 2016 filled with political unrest, poverty, and waning human rights, Michael Jackson s message of
self reflection eventually translating into social change finds its relevancy today, despite the song s
thirty years old tenure. It introduces the notion that all individuals in society are essentially human,
even in spite of humanity s tendency to demonize other belief systems. Even Saint Mother Theresa
agreed with this point, once saying that if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we
belong to each other. The only way to reconcile the fact that differences don t corrupt our humanity is
in society s willingness to be flexible to different points of view and recognize the structures of
prejudice in a modern context. What then is the harm in paring away our egos to realize that we all
have something to bring to the table? Forms of art that even attempt to evoke this message of
solidarity include poetry, which in itself is a free medium that poets utilize to express their thoughts
and emotions. Langston Hughes, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Maya Angelou, and

Three Major Macromolecules
DNA is a molecule that converts an organisms genetic blueprint. Every person s body has the same
DNA. Apportion of your DNA is located in the cells nucleus, but a small portion of DNA can also be
found in the mitochondria. The DNA structure is very important because it defines who we are and
how we look. The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine,
guanine, cytosine, and thymine. The nucleotides are joined to one another in a chain by covalent
bonds between the sugar. human DNA have 3 billion bases, and more than 99 percent of those bases

The cell is the computer or the hardware and the DNA is the program or code. Within each string of
DNA are sets of instructions called genes. A gene tells a cell how to make a specific protein. Proteins
are used by the cell to perform certain functions, to grow, and to survive. Although DNA looks like
very thin long strings under a microscope, it turns out that DNA has a specific shape. This shape is
called a double helix. On the outside of the double helix is the backbone which holds the DNA
together. Watson was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962 for the discovery of
the DNA structure. He continued his research into genetics writing several textbooks as well as the
bestselling book The Double Helix which chronicled the famous discovery. n the early 1950s,
scientists had learned a lot about genetics, but they still didn t understand the structure of the DNA
molecule. Scientists needed to understand the structure of DNA in order to fully understand genetics.
The Cavendish Laboratory had put together a team to try and solve the problem before an American
team led by the famous biochemist Linus Pauling could. Then it became a race to see who would

Sweatshops In America
In last week s meeting in Canada, the Group of Eight industrial nations grappled with the question of
how to better economic conditions in poor nations. One powerful means would be to improve the
conditions of workers in sweatshops. Two billion people in the world make less than two American
dollars a day. As voters and consumers of sweatshop products, Americans can make a difference in
ending the miserable conditions under which these people work.
Some argue that sweatshops are simply a step up a ladder toward the next generation s success: the
garment worker at her loom is carrying out some objective law of development, or the young girl
making toys for our children is breaking out of male dominated feudalism. This line of thinking recalls

Don t we have the consumer and political power to pressure our corporations to end sweatshop wages
paid to the people who make these goods? These workers are not demanding stock options and
Jazzercise studios. Women in Bangladesh say they could care for their children if their wages rose to
34 cents an hour, two tenths of 1 percent of the retail price of the Harvard hat.
Some economists argue that even the most exploited and impoverished workers are better off than
those who are unemployed or trapped in slave labor. But that argument is not about offering anyone a
ladder up, but about which ring of Dante s inferno people in developing nations are consigned to. We
don t want Disney, Mattel, Wal Mart or other major American companies to leave the developing
world. We simply want to end the race to the bottom in which companies force countries to compete
in offering the lowest wages for their people s labor. There should be a floor beneath which no one has

Essay on The Pure Voice in Hardy s Tess of the d Urbervilles
The Pure Voice in Tess of the D Urbervilles
Thomas Hardy often alludes to his heroine as the soft and silent Tess. Soft certainly insinuates her
beauty, which Harrtainly insinuates her beauty, which Hardy stresses as her downfall. However, it
seems that Tess s silence is the all pervading reason for her tragedies. The two men she encounters in
her life steal her voice: one with violence, the other with his own language (Jacobus 47). Tess
struggles with the damage that these men cause until redeeming herself through innocence.
Hardy, in his portrayal of Tess as The Maiden, begins with the May Day Dance, where Tess has yet to

heaps upon herself here is only the first drop in the bucket that she carries around with her for the rest

This heavily foreshadows the murder to come later in her life.
This guilt convinces Tess that she must now travel to the D Urbervilles home and claim kin with them.
Upon meeting Alec, she is shy and ashamed of her purpose. He tries to feed her a strawberry by
holding it up to her mouth. She blocks him, exclaiming, No no! I would rather take it in my own hand.
But he persists and she relents. Many advances by Alec are blocked in this way, by both her verbal and

Science and Technology in Hindi
Science writing in Hindi appears to have began in 1818 (Patariya, 2000) with the publication of a
magazine named Hindi Digdarshan, copies of which were circulated to many schools in West Bengal.
Digdarshan regularly incorporated materials on science, a trend that was not in vogue at that time even

Disadvantages Of Storage Virtualization
STORAGE VIRTUALIZATION Storage virtualization is the process of grouping physical storage
from multiple storage networks so it is unique. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a
logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage
virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The
management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving
data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. These facilities are made possible by SAN
(Storage area network) which is used to implement storage virtualization. San is a high speed sub
network which consists of shared storage devices. Storage virtualization allows to automatically

This separation provides greater flexibility to manage the storage. The virtualization system provides
the logical space for data storage and also maps it to the actual physical location. There can be various
layers of virtualization and mapping so the output of one layer can be passed on to the other higher
layers. Virtualization maps between front end and back end resources where the back end refers to a
logical unit number that is not presented to the host system and the front end refers to logical unit
number that is presented to a host system. The actual form of mapping depends on the
implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN
identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. The virtualization software
maintains the mapping information of virtualized storage. The mapping information is called as
metadata and is stored in mapping table. Some implementations do not use mapping table instead they
use algorithms to calculate the location for storage. Dynamic methods can be used for this

The Rodney King Trial And Verdict
We are fools to think racism is something of the past. Racism is very much alive in this century as it
was in the last century. The Rodney King trial and verdict will forever be identified as a moment in
recent history that outraged the diverse residents of Los Angeles County and the rest of America. Not
only did it expose the police brutality African Americans endure, but it showed the discrimination of a
jury mostly made of white people. My family lived in Los Angeles during the late 80 s and into the 90
s, and they still remember how dangerous walking in the streets was during those years. The police did

Essay about Gandhi Obituary
Indian leader, Mohandas Gandhi died at the age of 78 on January 30, 1948 at 5:12 p.m. Mohandas
Gandhi was known throughout the world for his nonviolent protests against both British rule and
interreligious fighting. Gandhi was born in the town of Porbander, and received his schooling in
Rajkot where his father was an advisor to the local ruler. Mohandas Gandhi married a girl named
Kasturba. Both were thirteen years old at the time. At the age of 19, Gandhi decided to travel to
England to receive his degree in law. Gandhi left his son Harilal who was a few months old with his
wife. While in England, Mohandas came across new cultures, people, and ideas. Gandhi quickly

Gandhi soon became involved in helping the untouchables, or the lowest and poorest Indian class.
Gandhi founded newspapers to spread his ideas and to educate the public. In early 1930, the Indian
National Congress declared that India would not be satisfied until India received complete
independence from Britain. On March 2nd, 1930, Gandhi sent a letter to the Viceroy, Lord Irwin,
forcefully saying that if Indian demands were not met, he would be forced to violate the salt laws. The
Lord ignored his letter. Gandhi began a 240 mile trek to the sea with 78 of his followers. As the trek
continued, more and more people joined Mohandas Gandhi, and by the time Gandhi arrived at the sea
thousands of people stood behind him. Gandhi picked up a clump of sea salt along with thousands of
others. Gandhi was soon arrested for his actions along with tens of thousands of others. Gandhi was
pardoned to travel to England for negotiations which accomplished nothing, and was arrested upon his
return to India. After his release three months later, Mohandas Gandhi spent years involved in
constructive reformation. When World War II broke out, Gandhi encouraged India to remain neutral.
In his speech to the Indian people he told the nation, Do or die. During his final years, Gandhi walked

Education Policies And The Greens
Social wellbeing is contingent upon equitable social policy addressing all varieties of demographics
and needs. One highly contested social policy issue in Aotearoa is that of tertiary education. Tertiary
education policies are proposed by multiple parties, however the most contentious of these can be
drawn from the Greens and ACT who hold highly opposing social wellbeing ideologies. Essentially, to
reveal binary oppositions between these policies, market and state ideologies must be considered, in
addition to the opposing views of individualism and collectivism which form the cornerstone of how
social wellbeing will be met. Moreover, the differences ACT and the Greens see in what tertiary
education should offer, ultimately reveal their opposing ideologies in policy, and their perspectives
towards social wellbeing. Act and the Greens both agree that Aotearoa as a country in the developed
world should face minimal social inequalities, however they hold vastly different opinions on how this
should be achieved. By comparing ACT who hold market beliefs to the Greens who hold state beliefs
it is increasingly evident that extreme beliefs drawn from either end of the political spectrum pose
significant problems in meeting social milestones. Market beliefs are often viewed as conservative and

Working Labour And Engineering Based Careers For This...
Comparatively, unlike larger metropolitan cities in Queensland, Toowoomba neglected catering to its
developing expert health care working force. Even now, focusing on developing working labour and
engineering based careers for this generation. Certainly, basic financial literacy can tell you why this is
considered as a brash approach to developing the economy, where the development is at the cost of a
generation. For instance, since Toowoomba is openly too inclined to expand its current infrastructure,
this created a disproportionate market share. Wherein, much of the educational development is biased
for training a robust labour market to supplement this industrial growth. Subsequently, relying on

Panda Persuasive Speech
Have you ever heard of an Ailuropoda Melanoleuca? Most likely not, but I bet you have heard of a
panda bear. Both are correct ways of recognizing the animal, one just sounds a little fancier. The panda
bear has been around for approximately three million years and we are still learning new things about
them all the time. Pandas may seem like very boring creatures because of their lack of activity during
their lifetimes, but they are actually extremely fascinating and not to mention very adorable. We ve all
had a time where we ve seen a cute, little, baby panda at the zoo and thought, I want one! . There are
so many interesting facts about pandas that everyone should know. You will be learning about the
background of pandas, why their population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population of pandas has been decreasing rapidly since 1990. Habitat loss and poaching are the
two major reasons for the pandas becoming on the brink of extinction. Humans have been destroying
the forests in which pandas live for decades now, causing them to have to relocate to regions they
were not familiar with. Losing their natural habitat meant that they also lost their main food source.
Pandas would starve causing hundreds to die. The loss of their home also left them extremely
vulnerable to predators in the new area. All of the little effects of pandas losing their habitat are what
caused a major drop in their population. The second biggest reason for the decline in their population
is poaching. Hunters and poachers target pandas mainly for their big fur coats. Poaching is illegal
everywhere and is a big reason for population decrease for other animals as well. The third reason for
the drop in pandas is their inability to reproduce quickly. The female pandas are only fertile once a
year for a period of two or three days. They usually only have one pup and that pup stays with the
mother for at least two years. After that, the panda is on its own. However, female pandas only need to
be about 5 years old before they can start reproducing, but the catch is males have to be about 7 years
old. The demand for baby pandas is extremely high so that the population to grow, but the time it takes
to do so is hurting the population more. With all that said, the population of the panda bear is
decreasing faster than it is increasing, which is a major problem that many organizations are working

My Professional Development Plan Is Directed Towards...
My personal professional development plan is directed towards helping me become a better teacher to
help students learn and reach their full potential. The skills I am working on to be a better teacher
include, better time management, communication, and having a stronger teacher voice. I plan to work
on these goals throughout my time at York College of Pennsylvania and achieve them by the time I
have completed my student teaching, which will be in three years. If I feel a goal has been achieved
before I complete my student teaching, I plan to add a new goal, while still focusing on my previous
goals to make them even stronger qualities.
My first skill is to have better time management. As of now, I feel I do have strong time management
when dealing with arriving early and planning my day out efficiently. I do have trouble with staying in
the projected time frame during lessons. For example, if I have thirty minutes to teach a lesson, I may
take thirty five to forty minutes. Typically, this is due to introduction of my lesson. I believe students
need to grasp the concept in the beginning of the lesson to be able to build off of the information and
complete activities on their own without the help of other students or myself.
Like I said, as of now, I do have fair time management skills, but they certainly need improvement.
My goal is to be able to plan lessons and keep them in the projected time frame; this includes being
within 2 minutes under or over.

The Social Movement Of Idle No More
This paper is going to examine the social movement of Idle No More. An explanation of how the
movement started, its goals, and its progress will be explained. Different sources of media interpreted
and portrayed the movement differently; this essay will show how the movement was visualized in a
much more positive light from insider and alternative media then that of the corporate media. This
essay will examine both the difficulties I would have in participating in Idle No More and the
strengths I have that could be used to help with the movement.
The Movement: Idle No More
On December 5th 2012 Bill C 45 was passed in Canada. This piece of legislation changed how lands
would be managed on native reserves. It also removed protection of thousands of bodies of water in
Canada. Four women from Saskatchewan started emailing each other of what this piece of legislation
meant for the indigenous population of our country and started sharing this information to the First
Nations communities. This was the birth of a movement named Idle No More. The movement gained
popularity across Canada and one month after the first phases Idle No More had a National Day of
Action, on December 10th 2012, in locations across the country.
Idle No More had three distinct goals: to build sovereignty for Indigenous people, to put pressure on
the government and industries to take care of the environment, and to build allies that promote
reframing the relationship between the two nations. The Idle No More

Romanticism And The Industrial Revolution
Chapter 1 Introduction We are not makers of history. We are made by history.(Martin Luther).Human
history is as primitive as time. Sociologically human evolution commenced from living individually to
the formation of ethnic and social groups. In literature this development is marked by many periods
and stages .It can roughly located by following timeline , Ancient(3600 BC 1500 AD), Postclassical
(500 1500) Modern and Post modern eras. Every historical era constitutes significant social,
economic, religious and political changes. However, some radical changes are witnessed by the
beginning of industrial revolution in Europe. The industrial era comprised the period of the Industrial

Also in the same ad we use Synesthesia by using a colorful outdoor theme in the background. The use

It makes the viewer feel like they are the animal in the ad which is a very good technique to use in this

The amount of text is what really can draw people in but without enough information/explanation, it is

the lack of comparisons. Implementing more forms of comparison (simile or metaphor) would have

African Americans And African American History
As African Americans we need to know the history of our ancestors in order to make the next
generation better. African Americans need to know the struggles and hardships that our ancestors had
to go through that pave the way for my generation and the generations after me. It is important to
know how our ancestors had to endure slavery. If the older generation does not continue to pay
homage to the history of our ancestors, the younger generation will lose sight of what our ancestors
have been through (Roberts, 2011). The younger generation is not interested in African American
History. It is about what someone can do for them. The younger generation wants everything handed
to them not to work for it because the younger generation thinks the world owe them something. The
younger generation does not have respect for their elders now. As African Americans we should not
forget the segregation and the hanging and deaths of African Americans because of the color of their
skin. It is also important because racism still exist today (Roberts, 2011). There are still racist white
people that do not want the world to change (Roberts, 2011). There are some white people that want to
go back to slavery because white people think African Americans are not worthy (Roberts, 2011).
White people do not want African Americans to know about their history because there were
intelligent African Americans that were inventors. Some examples of African American inventors are:

Reflection Paper On Narcissism
Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am
writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people
cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what
created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my
favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that
what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific
circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her
past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissism I have been sure to include an entire
chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type.
Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be
because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share.
The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main
personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is
why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are
narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome
diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a
workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and
narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the
abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the
leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high
achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the
group.
If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within
the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success,

Hamstring Strain Essay
Hamstring strain injuries are one of the most common sport related injuries involving high speed,
kicking movements (Marc. A., et al 2004). Despite there being evidence that hamstring strains occur at
both stages of movements; the early stance phase where the muscle absorbs the most force as a result
of high ground reaction and the late swing phase, the hamstrings eccentrically contract to absorb the
kinetic energy and slow the lower limb putting the hamstrings under a large amount of stress (Schmitt.
B., et al 2012)
Heiderscheit et al (2010) States that hamstring strains in high speed running, generally occur in the
late swing phase of the gait cycle, during the second half of the swing, the hamstrings are active,
lengthening and absorbing energy from the decelerating limb in preparation for ground reaction, and
the bicep femoris is stretched. Furthermore this confirmed by an earlier study, Koulouris and Connell

The Philosophy Of Social Science
Hollis expresses his intention to explore the philosophy of social science of which he categorises into
four modes. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode to
define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of this
book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social science through the critical examination of
the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study of
social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action or
does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the
universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme
focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The
book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness that
the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing.
Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set out
by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart Mills.
Determinism is then introduced to further illuminate the difference between these two theories. Hollis
also provides readers with the fundamental feature of Explanation and Understanding. The

Based on this description, Ovid s Narcissus effectively appears to demonstrate these specific
characteristics of the scryer and the scrying process as Nelson outlines them. Just as the scryer was
predominantly a young and bodily pure boy, Ovid describes Narcissus as being sixteen years old and a
virgin untouched by the Legions of lusty men and bevies of girls that desired him (Ovid

Apollo of Bacchus (Dionysus): he saw twin stars [...] rippling curls like the locks of a god, Apollo or
Bacchus, [...] a glorious face (Ovid Metamorphoses 3.421 423). Additionally, Narcissus likewise

Views On Death And Dying In Western Culture
1. Reflect on Miller s (2015, p.599) Views on Death and Dying in Western Culture : These perceptions
dealing with aging and death in Western societies are unfortunately very true and I find some of them
disappointing. I think it is sad that we have come to the point of seeing our health almost as if it s not

baptized and it was emotional, too. Getting baptized was the greatest experience that happened in my

  • 2. Should Schools Be Allowed To Separate Boys From Girls... If schools were to separate boys from girls I would not attend. Most of us have a close friend of the opposite gender so would you want to leave your close friend just because someone else wants you to? I know that I would not want to have to because if you are friends you feel like you have the right to be with them despite what other people may think. I ve been best friends with a boy named Karlmichel since we were both in the first grade, and even though we have our ups and downs, he has always been there for me as I have been there for him. Homosexual people in the United States are people that deserve freedom and equality and taking away their right to marriage is taking away their equality with the rest of Americans. Even though certain religions are against same sex marriage, same sex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Writing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy states that no union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. Kennedy goes on to say that gay and lesbian couples ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right. ( Nasci1). I think this amendment protects the rights of homosexuals. Same sex marriage should be legal because all individuals have the same right in society; same sex couples can constitute a good based family. It is just a way to make official a common union nowadays, even there are religious issue; because it is not related to polygamy; and because love matters and it does not differ in nature according to the sex of its object or the person who experiences it. Prior to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, same sex marriage is only legal in some states. Some states do not agree with same sex marriage. Same sex marriage was legal in 36 states and the District of Columbia. In 19 of those states. (Nascri). I think same sex marriage should be

After the war, the USSR set up communist governments in several eastern European Countries after they were freed from Nazi control. In 1949 communism spread to Asia as Communist governments took over in North Korea and China. The Americans were worried that surrounding countries would become communist, this was known as the Domino Effect. This provoked more fear into the Americans; the threat of Soviet world domination and communism started the beginning of the Cold War. In Vietnam during the war, Indochina (a French Colony) had been taken over by the Japanese in 1941. Ho Chi Minh started a Nationalist movement to resist the occupiers, this was called Viet Minh. With the support of the United States, Vietnam managed to defeat the Japanese. However, after this the French returned to take possession of their colony. This started the Indochina War. After the French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu. The Geneva Records of 1954 ultimately settled the Indochina war. This meant that Vietnam was split in to two parts. Along the 17th parallel. Fewer Americans belonged to labor unions in the 1980s. In 1980 there were nearly 21 million union members; that number had declined to 17 million by 1985. The most important aspect of a job for the majority of Americans was a feeling of accomplishment, beating out high pay by a better than 2 to 1 margin. In the mid Eighties, 88% of Americans said they were satisfied with their jobs. In spite of this, less than 40% expected to remain in their current job for more than five years. • 8. Variability Within The Dopamine System Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development. Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al., 2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007; Smits et al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2, Gsg2k1, Pbx1/3, Ahd2, and Dssrl1 are expressed in subsets of SNc dopamine neurons and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial VTA neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA. It has also been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of the Otx2+ neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et al., 2010; Liang et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight anatomical and molecular topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the midbrain nuclei (Fig 1). One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine system. They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and used a microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single neurons (Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also uncovered 10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked genes: Atp13a2, Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3, and Nr4a2). Although informative, this study does have some limitations. • 9. Advantages Of African American Freedom Freedom is the power to determine action without restraint, and it is the foundation of our lives today. Every race has the freedom to vote, go to whichever school they choose, take place in office, sit in any sector of the bus, etc. Around the 1860 s, Northern African Americans had freedom, but unlike today, their freedom was restricted. In 1850, before the beginning of the civil war, the population census concluded that fourteen percent of the population was African American. By 1860, 476,000 of them were free from slavery, but only 221,000 lived in the North. After winning the Revolutionary war the Northern states gradually began to end slavery and it was officially abolished in 1842. With all factors in mind, the question of just how free blacks were in the North still lingers in the air. Blacks in the North were only somewhat free in the years just before the civil war because they endured restrictions in social, political, and educational areas of society. To begin with, northern blacks were only somewhat free because they still had to encounter segregation, discrimination, and prejudice in their social freedom. Although they were free to live, they had to use restrooms, public areas, schools, etc. that were specifically assigned to their race. An English Visitor, Charles Mackay, defined his travels by stating, he shall not be free to dine and drink at our board...to attend us at the bed of sickness and pain to mingle with us in the concert room, the lecture room, the theatre, or the church, (document B). African Americans were not given the opportunity to associate with anyone of the white race, nor were they allowed to be in the same location as them. Since the white race was considered the superior race , and were heavily discriminant towards the black race, their segregated public facilities were a lot nicer than those of african americans. Also, prejudice made it harder for black people to attain jobs. In a graduation speech made by an african american, he proclaimed white boys won t work with me. Shall I be a merchant? No one will have me in his office (document C). Because of their race, african americans struggled to get employed. In society, northern blacks had to suffer through ... Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system is an intriguing and complex system that contains internal and external structures. Its external structures consist of the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and bartholens glands which all make up the vagina. These structures all work together to protect the vagina as well as lubricate it. The vagina is an elastic, muscular canal through which a baby can pass through during childbirth. The system s internal structures are the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. The uterus is responsible for holding and nourishing a fetus while it develops during a nine month term. The ovaries are the structures that make it possible for a woman to reproduce; they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously stated the process through which follicles enlarge and release a mature egg into the fallopian tube is most commonly known as ovulation. The ovulation cycle is divided into two parts with the follicular phase being the beginning part in which the egg matures. The ovulatory phase then begins during the middle of a female s menstrual cycle in which cervical fluids increase and become more fertile. An increase in the LH hormone levels affect the ovarian follicle causing a hole, or stigma to appear on the surface of the follicle. At this point in the course of ovulation, the egg is pushed down the fallopian tube into the uterus where it will wait 12 24 hours to be fertilized by a sperm cell before it disintegrates. The series of changes in the female reproductive system that include producing an egg and preparing the uterus to nurture it for nine months is called the menstrual cycle. This process begins during the pubescent years of a female and ends when said female goes through menopause. The menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and menstruation phase if the egg is not fertilized. If humanity takes the time to sit down and internalize, one of the questions coming to mind has to do with why is it often afraid of change? Change is in fact a big theme in the 1987 hit song The Man in the Mirror (Appendix E), where the late artist Michael Jackson sang the famous line, If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Fast forward to a modern day 2016 filled with political unrest, poverty, and waning human rights, Michael Jackson s message of self reflection eventually translating into social change finds its relevancy today, despite the song s thirty years old tenure. It introduces the notion that all individuals in society are essentially human, even in spite of humanity s tendency to demonize other belief systems. Even Saint Mother Theresa agreed with this point, once saying that if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. The only way to reconcile the fact that differences don t corrupt our humanity is in society s willingness to be flexible to different points of view and recognize the structures of prejudice in a modern context. What then is the harm in paring away our egos to realize that we all have something to bring to the table? Forms of art that even attempt to evoke this message of solidarity include poetry, which in itself is a free medium that poets utilize to express their thoughts and emotions. • 26. Panda Persuasive Speech Have you ever heard of an Ailuropoda Melanoleuca? Most likely not, but I bet you have heard of a panda bear. Both are correct ways of recognizing the animal, one just sounds a little fancier. The panda bear has been around for approximately three million years and we are still learning new things about them all the time. Pandas may seem like very boring creatures because of their lack of activity during their lifetimes, but they are actually extremely fascinating and not to mention very adorable. We ve all had a time where we ve seen a cute, little, baby panda at the zoo and thought, I want one! . There are so many interesting facts about pandas that everyone should know. You will be learning about the background of pandas, why their population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The population of pandas has been decreasing rapidly since 1990. Habitat loss and poaching are the two major reasons for the pandas becoming on the brink of extinction. Humans have been destroying the forests in which pandas live for decades now, causing them to have to relocate to regions they were not familiar with. Losing their natural habitat meant that they also lost their main food source. Pandas would starve causing hundreds to die. The loss of their home also left them extremely vulnerable to predators in the new area. All of the little effects of pandas losing their habitat are what caused a major drop in their population. The second biggest reason for the decline in their population is poaching. Hunters and poachers target pandas mainly for their big fur coats. Poaching is illegal everywhere and is a big reason for population decrease for other animals as well. The third reason for the drop in pandas is their inability to reproduce quickly. The female pandas are only fertile once a year for a period of two or three days. They usually only have one pup and that pup stays with the mother for at least two years. After that, the panda is on its own. However, female pandas only need to be about 5 years old before they can start reproducing, but the catch is males have to be about 7 years old. The demand for baby pandas is extremely high so that the population to grow, but the time it takes to do so is hurting the population more. With all that said, the population of the panda bear is decreasing faster than it is increasing, which is a major problem that many organizations are working to figure out a ... My personal professional development plan is directed towards helping me become a better teacher to help students learn and reach their full potential. The skills I am working on to be a better teacher include, better time management, communication, and having a stronger teacher voice. I plan to work on these goals throughout my time at York College of Pennsylvania and achieve them by the time I have completed my student teaching, which will be in three years. If I feel a goal has been achieved before I complete my student teaching, I plan to add a new goal, while still focusing on my previous goals to make them even stronger qualities. My first skill is to have better time management. As of now, I feel I do have strong time management when dealing with arriving early and planning my day out efficiently. I do have trouble with staying in the projected time frame during lessons. For example, if I have thirty minutes to teach a lesson, I may take thirty five to forty minutes. Typically, this is due to introduction of my lesson. I believe students need to grasp the concept in the beginning of the lesson to be able to build off of the information and complete activities on their own without the help of other students or myself. Like I said, as of now, I do have fair time management skills, but they certainly need improvement. My goal is to be able to plan lessons and keep them in the projected time frame; this includes being within 2 minutes under or over. There are several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Social Movement Of Idle No More This paper is going to examine the social movement of Idle No More. An explanation of how the movement started, its goals, and its progress will be explained. Different sources of media interpreted and portrayed the movement differently; this essay will show how the movement was visualized in a much more positive light from insider and alternative media then that of the corporate media. This essay will examine both the difficulties I would have in participating in Idle No More and the strengths I have that could be used to help with the movement. The Movement: Idle No More On December 5th 2012 Bill C 45 was passed in Canada. This piece of legislation changed how lands would be managed on native reserves. It also removed protection of thousands of bodies of water in Canada. Four women from Saskatchewan started emailing each other of what this piece of legislation meant for the indigenous population of our country and started sharing this information to the First Nations communities. This was the birth of a movement named Idle No More. The movement gained popularity across Canada and one month after the first phases Idle No More had a National Day of Action, on December 10th 2012, in locations across the country. Idle No More had three distinct goals: to build sovereignty for Indigenous people, to put pressure on the government and industries to take care of the environment, and to build allies that promote reframing the relationship between the two nations. The use of synesthesia is very persuasive here because it makes the viewer experience other senses than vision. It makes the viewer feel like they are the animal in the ad which is a very good technique to use in this situation because it puts the viewer in the preys shoes. One thing that the Shoes of Prey ad lacks is the amount of text provided in the written ad. This really affects the amount of customers that we acquire. The amount of text is what really can draw people in but without enough information/explanation, it is hard for people to really understand why they should buy the product. African Americans need to know the struggles and hardships that our ancestors had to go through that pave the way for my generation and the generations after me. It is important to know how our ancestors had to endure slavery. If the older generation does not continue to pay homage to the history of our ancestors, the younger generation will lose sight of what our ancestors have been through (Roberts, 2011). The younger generation is not interested in African American History. It is about what someone can do for them. The younger generation wants everything handed to them not to work for it because the younger generation thinks the world owe them something. The younger generation does not have respect for their elders now. As African Americans we should not forget the segregation and the hanging and deaths of African Americans because of the color of their skin. It is also important because racism still exist today (Roberts, 2011). There are still racist white people that do not want the world to change (Roberts, 2011). There are some white people that want to go back to slavery because white people think African Americans are not worthy (Roberts, 2011). • 33. Reflection Paper On Narcissism Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissism I have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share. The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the group. If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success, ... Despite there being evidence that hamstring strains occur at both stages of movements; the early stance phase where the muscle absorbs the most force as a result of high ground reaction and the late swing phase, the hamstrings eccentrically contract to absorb the kinetic energy and slow the lower limb putting the hamstrings under a large amount of stress (Schmitt. B., et al 2012) Heiderscheit et al (2010) States that hamstring strains in high speed running, generally occur in the late swing phase of the gait cycle, during the second half of the swing, the hamstrings are active, lengthening and absorbing energy from the decelerating limb in preparation for ground reaction, and the bicep femoris is stretched. • 36. The Philosophy Of Social Science Hollis expresses his intention to explore the philosophy of social science of which he categorises into four modes. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode to define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of this book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social science through the critical examination of the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study of social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action or does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness that the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing. Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set out by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart Mills. Determinism is then introduced to further illuminate the difference between these two theories. Hollis also provides readers with the fundamental feature of Explanation and Understanding.
