cemeteries in Colma. Some have lush green fields with trees and planted flowers, while one has a lake
with ducks. Most common place for the residents to hang out at is the shopping mall, Serramonte.
Senior citizens meet there early morning, while a Tai Chi class is offered. The community travels

Between 70 80 CE, the Flavian Amphitheater, more commonly known as the Colosseum, was
intricately designed and built with a variety of orders and vaults, a revolutionary architectural
formation, and the ability to seat thousands of spectators. The Flavian Amphitheater, standing at 159
feet tall, was constructed into an oval shape, a formation procured from the idea of connecting two
freestanding theaters together, that measured 615×510 feet. All entertainment events took place on a
sand covered floor in the amphitheater referred to as the arena, the Latin word for sand, measuring a

Definitions And Classifications Of Language Learning...
Literature Review
Definitions and Classifications of Language Learning Strategies Strategy , from the ancient Greek
term strategia, refers to generalship or the art of war. In a more specific sense, strategy entails the
optimal management of troops, ships or aircraft in a planned campaign. Tactics is different but related
to strategies, which are tools to achieve the success of strategies. Moreover, the two expressions share
some basic concepts: planning, competition, conscious manipulation and movement toward a goal. In
nonmilitary settings, the concept of strategy has been applied to the non adversarial situations, where
it has come to mean a plan, step or an action is taken for achieving a specific objective (Oxford,
1990). Oxford (1990) stated 第二期(2007 年 3 月) 238 that strategies are particularly important for
language learning because they are tools for active, self directed involvement, which is essential for
developing communicative competence (p.1). Because of its significance, learning strategies have
been extensively employed in the educational field. In defining the language learning strategy,
different researchers use different terms and different concepts (Oxford Crookall, 1989, p.414);
therefore, a great number of researchers have formulated their own definitions which will be discussed
in the followings. Schemeck (1988) stated, strategy is the implementation of a set of procedures

Persuasive Speech About Animal Cruelty
You want to know something horrify and heartbreaking? People say they love animals but that s false.
Something that animal lovers don t know is that 56 billion farmed animals are killed every year by
humans and 200 million animals are reported killed by hunters in the United States every year.
Treating animals for their fur and bones is not good for them and us. There meat can cause cancer,
using their belongings is depressing and there should be more compassionate for them. I see animals
as humans because they can feel happiness, sadness, anger and lastly pain. Animals can t fight for
their body but in this generation many vegetarians and vegans are against animal cruelty. In this life

kids out there for their future. It may cause heart diseases and at a point when we have to take so many
pills to get better. On Netflix there s a documentary that came out this year called What the Health .
He also talks about meat causes cancer. He interviewed three people who were sick with cancer and
they all went to many doctors to get better but they just receive pills to take and hope for their best.
The guy in the video tells them to stop taking the pills, stop eating process meat, try to exercise and he

looked so much healthier and had so much energy. Not eating meat may cause a different in us and a

Solidarity Reflection
From this class, I have learned how South Asian Americans have been racialized and how they have
been treated differently compared to other marginalized people in the U.S. By studying the narratives
of South Asians and other minority groups, I gained the knowledge about racism, colonialism,
capitalism and imperialism and the government s politics strategies. Through the learning histories, I
developed my empathy with the struggles of immigrant, racial and minority community and
understood how to build solidarity with each other. I think the studying about the history of different
ethnic group, nation, and gender is important because it helps us to see violent activities that we
caused to another and it also reminds us to not do the same mistakes. I found myself engaged to the
struggles of race, class and gender according to the experiences of myself and other people in my life.
I have experienced the similar racial discrimination at work place where some white people acted, as I
am not good enough to be part of their community and treated me with disrespect. I also feel the same
in my country, where some Burmese people would not like to hang out with people from darker skin
color and lower class. I have heard the stories of my mom in law who is from China, where women
were treated differently versus men. They were not allowed to study education and could not pursue
their goals.

Argumentative Essay On Student Athletes
Student Athletes There is a quote that goes, I can t tell you the key to success, but the key to failure is
trying to please everyone. To understand this quote is to understand the paradox that is a student
athlete. Why was the term student athlete ever created in the first place? Is it truly possible to be
successful as a student and an athlete? How does a student athlete gage whether an extra hour of
practicing their respective sport is more important than an hour of studying for a class? The NCAA
labels all student athletes as amateurs and has adopted rules of amateurism in order to obtain a quality
education and to make sure student athletes are competing equitably (Amateurism 2014). Can this be
so when the NCAA generates billions of dollars in revenue off the backs of these so called amateurs?
In this paper I will explain why the term student athlete has done more harm than good in regards to
athletes who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the hectic schedules student athletes undergo, they are forced into specific majors that are
not very challenging or conflict with practice time. How is an athlete that is considered a student first
supposed to have time to study when from sun up until sundown they are slave to a schedule that
prioritizes their sport obligations? Furthermore, these athletes can lose their scholarships if they do not
perform up to par athletically regardless of academic standing. Now some may argue that it is the
athlete s fault that they did utilize the free education provided to them, but many schools recruit
athletes who fit the mold of a superstar but incapable of doing college work. As a result, schools such
as the University of North Carolina have faced scrutiny for having athletes take no show classes for a
grade and illegal tutoring. If the student part in student athlete comes first then what is going on in
college sports is

The sea is known for its violent storms because of the difference in temperatures. Hills and mountains
that reach nearly 2,000 feet high on the east side bound the sea. Another contributing factor to the
storms is that the Sea of Galilee is only about 200 feet at its deepest, which causes the wind to create
violent waves. The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus performed many of His miracles. Four of apostles
Peter, Andrew, James, and John came to Jesus after he stilled a ragging storm; this is also, where Jesus
and Peter walked on water. The Sea of Galilee also is the backdrop for feeding 5,000 people with only
a loaf of bread and two fish. This is also, where Mary of Magdala was from. The Sea of Galilee is
present throughout the Bible it is referenced in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Number, Deuteronomy,
Joshua, and 1 Kings.

Domestic Vehicles In The US Economy
The question is simple. Why should Americans buy domestic vehicles compared to their foreign
counterparts? This question has plagued the U.S. consumer many years now, but why does it even
matter? Whether or not the person buys domestic or foreign, this decision has a major effect on the
U.S. economy. The person is basically picking which country they will provide the work for building
their vehicle. If they pick American, they are supporting a workforce of dedicated craftsman just

Comparing Tokyo And Auckland s Development
Cities located globally increase significantly through the process of urbanisation, temporally and
spatially. Through urbanisation, technology is a huge advancement for cities. The main technology
advancement is transportation. I have chosen to compare Tokyo with Auckland. I will discuss Tokyo
and Auckland s development (1880 1930), outlining pressures and opportunities created by technology
advancements and how Tokyo is caused by urbanisation, comparing with Auckland.
Tokyo s population is approximately 13.35million with rapid urban growth. The land area of Tokyo is
approximately 2,187km2. Tokyo was first established in 1869. Tokyo was originally named Edo
(small fishing village) in early 1800 s. Tokyo was a part of the Musashi Province development. The
early 18th century, there were not much transportation in Edo, including planes, trains and cars. The
main transport mode was walking, boats or horseback. Any cargo transported by people, oxen/horses,
were by large carts or traditional boats. The Edo period (1603 1868), Edo did not have carriages
drawn by horses compared to horse back carriages in Auckland. The main cause of cargo were by
boats. Other transport were palanquins (equivalence to taxicabs). Palanquins were used in the city to
transport people. Road networks were then a main pressure for Tokyo as to transport freight to long
distances between cities. The Tokugawa government started to develop road infrastructure, by
connecting highways between Edo and

Reflection Of Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Art
Sigmund Freud established and originated the psychoanalysis with the emphasis on helping the
patients of neurotic illnesses. Freud formulated his method through Joseph Breuer s hypnotic method
that is the free association. He revolutionalized the ideas of how the human mind works; He
challenged the long standing identification of the self with the conscious thinking subject. Freud
established the theory of the unconscious. This becomes a controversial one that is comparable to the
Copernican revolution that the sun is the center of the universe and Darwin s theory of evolution that
man is a descent of the apes; in this analogy, Freud, argued that a large part of what makes up the

The first part is an exposition of Sigmund Freud s aesthetic theory. This discussed the beginning of
Freud s perception of art as an escape to reality. However, of all the works of art, Freud give high
regard to literature for it forms some kind of apprehension what exactly it is unlike those of paintings
that affirmatively can evoke an effect or a feeling but it does not have the sense of apprehension in it.
It is also in this part that Freud s formulation that a poet is regulated by both the fantasy and reality as
he proposes the first poet and the second poet . In the second part of the part of the chapter, discuss the
three fold personality structure of personality, the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the seat of
the unconscious, it comprises of the desires and the wishes that are seeking for fulfillment, and it
primarily conforms to the pleasure principle. The ego is the rational conscious part. It acts as the
intermediary between the super ego and the id as well as strive for the fulfillment of the demands of
the id, the super ego, and the reality. Unlike the id the ego is regulated by the reality principle. And the
super ego is developed with the help of the external influences that which is taken from the other
people external authority. It mainly concerns on the operation of man in the society. And on the latter
part, it states that an art is produced with the influence of the three fold personality structure. The id is
the source of inspiration, the ego gives an art a unity and the super ego makes an art to be a form of
sublimation. The last part of the second chapter is the two mental functioning. The primary process
conforms to the id while, the secondary process serves as a guide to the ego. These two are related to
the pleasure and reality principle, respectively. Any work of art is working towards the reconciliation

Jacob
Esau is the elder twin brother of Jacob and were the sons of Isaac and Rebekah. They were also the
grandsons of Abraham and Sarah. The book of Genesis, identifies Isaac as God s chosen son of the
promise as well as Isaac s youngest son Jacob. (Towns, 1996) The theme of dishonesty happens
repeatedly through the course of Jacob s life. Jacob deceives his father Isaac and took the blessing

Capernaum
Capernaum was constructed along the edge of the Sea of Galilee, it housed up to 1,500 residents. Its
location is 2 1/2 miles from the point where the Jordan River enters the Sea of Galilee and about 10
miles from present day Tiberias. The crest of a ridge of hills, just to the west of the ancient town, is the
mountain of Capernaum referred to the Byzantine pilgrim Egeria as Eremos. The ruins are currently
owned by two churches and or synagogues. The New Testament is where Capernaum is introduced in
Matthew. Matthew refers to Capernaum as Jesus own city. Jesus made Capernaum his home
throughout the years of his ministry, Leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum (Matt 4:13).
Capernaum is one of the three cities cursed by Jesus for its lack of faith. Jesus was challenged by a

Gothic Churches Social Changes
Social Reasons for the changes of the church
In the romanesque and gothic times, the foundation of European society was power. Many noblemen
were at constant competition for status, their focus was towards the centre and main power of the
town; the church. Social change is often an influence on the people and structure of a society.
When a town has a really big and grand church, it brings in tourism and trade.Because gothic churches
were bigger and more elevated than romanesque churches, Gothic churches soon became the life
source of towns. Towns would try to emphasise the power and authority of churches through space.
Because of this tourism, money, education and control was brought to the town. The idea of having
soaring towers could mean

Tintoretto s Last Supper Analysis
Tin! Tin! Dinner s Ready!
I have been greatly impacted by all of the artists, styles, and types of art we have talked about so far in
Art History I. We have looked at sculptors, paintings, architecture, and prints with varying styles, from
a numerous amount of artists. While I am intrigued by mostly all of what we have studied, The Last
Supper paintings catch my eye the most. Many artists have successfully completed paintings of The
Last Supper including, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and Leonardo da Vinci; however, da Vinci was the
first, original painter of The Last Supper. My favorite Last Supper painting definitely has to be the one
by Tintoretto. Tintoretto s Last Supper painting truly represents various key aspects of art; from the
usage of colors and shadows, all the way to the numerous groups of people taking on various different
tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This nickname came from his father s profession as a cloth dyer ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto is known as
Venetian Mannerist painter and is seen as an artist who merged the rich color of Titian with the
powerful line of Michelangelo ( Renaissance Art And Architecture ). I find this truly amazing, being
inspired by two very different artists and combining their styles to form your own. Tintoretto s work
over the years influenced the expansion of baroque art; however; after his death on May 31, 1594,
Venetian painting quickly dwindled away ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto began The Last Supper in 1952 and
completed it in 1954 (Pallucchini). It is an oil painting on canvas located in the Church of San Giorgio
Maggiore (Pallucchini). This painting is absolutely gorgeous, so I am glad it is displayed near the altar
of a church for everybody in Venice, Italy and tourists that visit there to see. I would love to be able to
take a trip to Italy and experience seeing this work of art for

Courier over Postal Service
QUESTION
EXPLAIN THE ADVANTAGES OF COURIER SERVICES OVER PUBLIC POSTAL SERVICES
A courier service is an organization which offers special deliveries of packages, money, documents or
information. Courier services usually boast faster delivery times than any alternative method of
transporting documents, and many services in the modern world rely on them. The idea of couriers
and a courier service has been around almost as long as civilization, with rulers in antiquity using
couriers as a means to make new laws and edicts known throughout their lands. In the modern age of

House On Mango Street Book Assignment
Book Assignment For this book assignment I decided to read the book The House on Mango Street by
Sandra Cisneros. Cisneros uses a series of vignettes to tell the story of Esperanza Cordero and a year
of her life on Mango Street. Esperanza is a 12 year old Mexican American girl, or Chicana, living in a
congested Latino neighborhood located in the more poorer area of Chicago. The story begins with
Esperanza s family moving to a new house on Mango street which she describes as an upgrade from
their previous house but it is still not the home her heart desires. Esperanza has big dreams of
eventually leaving Mango Street and owning her own real house with a big yard and multiple
washrooms, just like the ones she sees on television. Esperanza s journey into maturity and
development is described through these interestingly written vignettes. She begins writing poetry as a
way of expressing the events happening in her life such as developing friends, puberty and sprouting
hips, and even dealing with sexual assault. The first half of the book begins with Esperanza wanting to
continue to play in her little child bubble but is pushed into the world of adulthood when dealing with
the deaths of her grandfather and Aunt Lupe and when she is abruptly kissed by an older man while at
her first job. Esperanza also writes about her neighbors and happenings of the neighborhood to paint a
picture of the different paths in life that are available to her. She switches her interest to the older
women of the neighborhood who each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

That February also marks the first violent action against the Catholic Church. On the 23rd, just down

claiming that it had not complied with regulations. A riot ensued when government agents tried to take
survey of the church s inventory. When the rioting escalated, seven of the protestors were killed. In
response, the government issued orders to enforce the constitution at all cost and Calles announced
that the government would be inflexible. He reiterated that they would use every capability the law

The law enforced the anticlerical codes that had been previously established over fifty years ago and

it to Rome, that waited to see the intentions of Congress and Calles. The Vatican and the bishops were
hopeful they would be able to make some type of compromise with the Mexican government. After
the law was ratified Calles suffered from scrutiny from the supporters of the Catholic faith claiming

By following the guidelines of the Atkin s Diet, the lack of carbohydrates in the diet induces high
amounts of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are the fats that the body is not able to metabolize
completely because there are not enough carbohydrates available to aid fat digestion. Therefore in
order for the body to maintain proper function, also known as homeostasis, it burns the ketone bodies
off as energy, break down nutrients from other resources, such as the calcium from bones, and limit
the amount of energy to parts of the body to maintain homeostasis. These physiological responses
seem to occur consistently for dieters on low carbohydrate diets whereas non restricted carbohydrate
dieters were rarely observed to have any of these types of responses. In fact, studies show that balance
meals of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats provided in a non restricted carbohydrate diet provides the
body with sufficient nutrients to generate enough energy to maintain proper bodily function.
For the body to maintain proper bodily function, the body has to supply the brain with enough of
carbohydrates, which is its main energy source. However, as studies in the comparison article claim,
dieters on a restricted carbohydrate diet are at risk of not providing enough energy to the brain which
may also cause adverse affects to the

In order to make a difference in the world and our community we have to first come to realize who we
are as a person and what we want to accomplish as an individual, this can have a big impact as to what
is accomplished as a whole community. Not many people are willing to take a risk but the people that
do are at times the ones that get further along. Having a vegetable garden has taken kids out of trouble
and has made fresh vegetable and food accessible to people that might not have access to food.
Cultural awareness: The film has made me more aware that there are changes that can be made in
order to make our world a better place and that we can come together and strive for a better
community. I have learned that I have never really thought about doing anything to help my
community out. Viewer exposure: The film does expose its viewer to the many issues that are present

It has been two hundred and twenty years since the Constitution was written. In that short amount of
time, we have fought several wars and made new discoveries that brought us one step closer to the

From women s suffrage to civil rights, to same gender marriage, we have adopted beliefs that would
have been considered unthinkable during the era that the Founding Fathers lived in. Each of these

Amphetamines include illegal drugs such as methamphetamines, speed, crank and ecstasy. There are

way to test for drug or alcohol abuse but there are new sampling methods on the rise. Urine is the least

Women s Portrayal Of Women
It is strange how one director can convey two entirely different depictions of women. Due to the time
period in which Hitchcock filmed Vertigo and Psycho, women had limited capability in regards to
what they could do in a film. Women could not be action heroes; in fact they were often depicted as
damsels in distress. The easiest answer to this sort of prejudice is that it was a reflection of the culture
of the 50s and 60s. Although this is partially true, it does not excuse the fact that male directors made
misogynistic choices that could have been remedied without being considered radical or societally
unacceptable. The inconsistencies in Hitchcock s portrayal of women reveals this much, as shown by a
study in the narrative, mise en scėne, and cinematography of Vertigo (1958) and Psycho (1960).
The main female character in Vertigo is two people, in a sense, but even this duplicity does not help
her gain control in the film s narrative. Judy Barton is the woman s real name, but she spends the first
half of the movie charading as Madeleine Elster. One of the first scenes in which we see Madeleine is
when John is stalking her at the request of Gavin Elster. The cinematography of this sequence reveals
a lot about their relationship and how John objectifies Madeleine and Judy.
As John follows her from the flower store to the graveyard to the museum, Madeleine is almost
always shown from afar, in long shots, and almost never takes up the whole frame. This is all filmed

substitute good for a cheaper price. If enough consumers are aware of the strategies utilized by firms
within markets structures such as monopolies and oligopolies, action can be taken in order to prevent
costs of goods from reaching levels that only benefit producers. The power that each consumer s
purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters
innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was
elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a
good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a
small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much
in response to a change in price. The concept of elasticity was introduced in the music video when a
student was attempting to get away

Why Did The Big Bang Theory Exist
There are many possible conclusions that scientists may come to when looking at the universe s
beginning. Although we can not go back in time to look at the past, there are many logical theories
which could determine what happened. Throughout the many possible scientific theories for the origin
of the universe, the big bang theory is the most logical about how the universe began due to how the
universe is expanding, leftover energy, and the abundance of certain elements. The big bang theory is
the leading explanation about how the universe began. This phenomenon shows that the universe
started in a small singularity which grew to what we know today. A singularity is a zone of finite
matter shoved into an area of infinite density. Scientists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Big Bang model of origins, it is thought to be that the universe was full of extremely
concentrated and unstable energy. In fact, it is assumed that the matter was so compact that one
teaspoon of space weighed 100 million trillion trillion trillion pounds, which defies the laws of
physics. Three minutes after the big bang, all the hydrogen atoms were created, and after some more
time, all helium atoms were created. If the conditions stayed at such a high temperature, the elements
we see today would be different and the conditions for life would not be met. The Big Bang provides
the most evidence for how we have such an abundance of these

Menarche Research Paper
Menarche in Mexico The term menarche refers to the first menstruation period of a young girl. There
are numerous factors that may cause a girl to begin her period early. Those factors are: body fat, BMI,
and nutritional status. Earlier menarche is brought on by obesity whereas amenorrhea is common in
women with a low BMI. Other factors that lead to early menstruation include: stressful family
circumstances, increased family conflict, divorce, longer durations of the absence of a father in the
home or the presence of a male who is not the father. Sexual abuse can also influence early menarche.
In Mexico, the majority of girls begin to menstruate at approximately 12 years of age. Over the years
this age has fluctuated from closer to twelve

Personal Injury Claims
Mistakes To Avoid Making When Settling A Personal Injury
Before your personal injury claim goes to trial, it is typically to attempt to settle the case outside of
court. While settling will save you from having to pay the costs associated with going to court, it s
possible that you could get a settlement that is lower than what you deserve. Avoid making these
common mistakes when settling a personal injury claim.
Making Recorded Statements To An Insurance Adjuster
There may be a time when settling your case that an insurance adjuster says they are unable to move
your claim forward without giving them a statement on the record. You should avoid doing this, as it is
just a technique that the responsible party s legal team will use to try to use ... Show more content on

Chances are that this is not the absolute last offer you will receive, and it is just a way to pressure you
into taking it.
Settling a personal injury case involves a lot of back and forth dialogue. You can always counter their
offer with an offer of your own.
Asking For Too Much Money
While you do not want to make the mistake of asking for not enough money, be careful of asking for
too much as well. It demonstrates that you do not understand the value of the injury claim, and may
lead to being taken advantage of.
Work with a lawyer to determine an appropriate amount to ask for in your initial demand letter. The
amount that you request will be accepted or it will go down during negotiations, but chances are it will
never go higher than what you initially asked for.
Not Knowing The Extent of Your Injuries
The most difficult part of a personal injury claim is estimating the costs of your injuries in the future.
Your settlement amount will factor in additional medical costs related to your injury that have not yet
been billed. Your recovery may take longer than expected, or you can have complications. It s
important to not settle your case until you know how extensive your injuries are. It may be tempting to
settle quickly, but it could cost you money down the

Oroonoko Rhetorical Analysis
Oroonoko: The Savior and Dismemberment The long narrative of Oroonoko is that of an Africa Prince
and his beloved. Both of them were sold into slavery by the British and are brought to Surinam.
Imoinda was sold into slavery first by Oroonoko s grandfather. Oroonoko was tricked by a royal guest
and then sold to Trefry. This owner befriended Oroonoko and it shows compassion, purity, and
persuasiveness on both Oroonoko s part and on Trefry s. This is where Oroonoko has his name
changed to Caesar as was custom with slaves. It is a practice that further removes them from their
homeland and severs any ties to their identity with their families. He then becomes, who many
believe, a hero as he leads a slave revolt that ends with his horrible execution. ... Show more content

Surely throughout his own torture, Jesus Christ also endured his own breaking point. Nonetheless,
they both held strong for a time to get their point across. According to Merriam Webster, a martyr is a
person who is killed or who suffers greatly for a religion, cause, etc., (Merriam Webster). In the end, a
martyr is what becomes of both Jesus Christ and Oroonoko. However, many members of the societies
in each timeline did not see the importance of the death. After the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Jews
were still under the rule of the Roman Government. Likewise, the slaves were not saved the
dismemberment of Oroonoko. The story of Jesus, however, did eventually change the course of
history for many. For the legacy of Oroonoko, so to speak, slavery did end at one point. So, in a
roundabout way their deaths held a great sense of purpose and importance

The Invisible Man Analysis
The story The Invisible Man is written by Ralph Ellison. The author takes his personal experiences as
an ignored man and creates this character that shows the characteristics of a man whom few people
would stop to acknowledge. This story can be seen as a symbol of an educated black man whose life
has been controlled and oppressed by a white society. Throughout the story one will notice that the
man is nameless. The is because the narrator in The Invisible Man is invisible not only to others but
himself as well because of racism and trying to live up to expectations of others. There are certain
tools that are given to him by outsiders and things he will use that will ultimately develop him into
student and man. The author has written about events that made the invisible man who he was. It is
important to notice that the invisible man has been searching for his identity the whole time and will
later discover that his identity is in those things he has always had.
This story also uses appeal of pathetic to grab the reader s attention. Throughout the story the author,
Ralph Ellison, struggles to attempt to uncover the invisible man s identity that is buried beneath
oppression. It is important to understand that the invisible man is an African American male who sates
that he is only looked down on because of his skin color (Ellison). Ralph Ellison goes in detail by
showing us how lies can be seen as an obstacle to anyone s journey of finding himself and his true
identity. These obstacles are expressed in Ralph Ellison s usage of symbols and imagery portrays those
obstacles. The man is faced with these obstacles of deception in his ability to make his own life, but
instead is confined to live the life in white men s society. The purpose calls for action to the public to
open their eyes to realize that racism is a problem that will not go away; it is something that must be
forced to an end whereby men are willing to be themselves in the process.
In the story, the narrator has set out to search for his true identity, but this idea of why he is blind to
the world leads him to become blind in the process. I believe that it is important to focus on the
significance of the man s living situation. The invisible man lives

Build A Raccoon Research Paper
Raccoons are inquisitive and intelligent creatures, sometimes they are too inquisitive and intelligent as
they are often regarded as menaces to society. As anyone who has ever had their trash strewn all over
their lawn can tell you, raccoons will stop at nothing to get their next meal. The problem with
raccoons is that they are great at learning how to solve problems and once they learn how to solve it, it
s unlikely that they will forget it. What does this mean for you? If a raccoon solves the puzzle of
opening your garbage can or how to go through your pet door, it can wreak havoc on your patience.
However, there are five guaranteed ways to get rid of those raccoons for good.
It s all About the Food
Raccoons are largely motivated by food, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can either build a high privacy fence or install an electric fence. If you decide to go with a
traditional fence, make sure that it is buried at least a foot underground and raises several feet above
the ground. The fence cannot be chain link or mesh because they will climb right over it. Electric
fences are the better choice when it comes to raccoons especially for small areas around a pond or a
garden. These are harmless, effective and relatively cheap.
Trapping
Trapping a raccoon is another option that is available to you, however it requires a lot of patience and
it may not work. Set the traps in an area that the raccoons frequent, but make sure that you clean the
trap thoroughly and set it with latex gloves on; otherwise the raccoons will smell your scent and not
go near the trap. Bait the trap and disguise it under some branches and leaves. Relocate the raccoon
once you have trapped it in a wooded area that is at least 10 miles from you or your nearest neighbor.
As already stated, raccoons are incredibly smart and there is no guarantee that it will work.
Raccoons are adorable animals when they are in the woods, but when they invade our properties and
refuse to go, they turn from cute to infuriating. Try some or all of these tips to get the raccoons to go,
if all else fails call your local animal control office or a professional pest removal

Solidarity Reflection From this class, I have learned how South Asian Americans have been racialized and how they have been treated differently compared to other marginalized people in the U.S. By studying the narratives of South Asians and other minority groups, I gained the knowledge about racism, colonialism, capitalism and imperialism and the government s politics strategies. Through the learning histories, I developed my empathy with the struggles of immigrant, racial and minority community and understood how to build solidarity with each other. I think the studying about the history of different ethnic group, nation, and gender is important because it helps us to see violent activities that we caused to another and it also reminds us to not do the same mistakes. I found myself engaged to the struggles of race, class and gender according to the experiences of myself and other people in my life. I have experienced the similar racial discrimination at work place where some white people acted, as I am not good enough to be part of their community and treated me with disrespect. I also feel the same in my country, where some Burmese people would not like to hang out with people from darker skin color and lower class. How does a student athlete gage whether an extra hour of practicing their respective sport is more important than an hour of studying for a class? The NCAA labels all student athletes as amateurs and has adopted rules of amateurism in order to obtain a quality education and to make sure student athletes are competing equitably (Amateurism 2014). We have looked at sculptors, paintings, architecture, and prints with varying styles, from a numerous amount of artists. While I am intrigued by mostly all of what we have studied, The Last Supper paintings catch my eye the most. Many artists have successfully completed paintings of The Last Supper including, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and Leonardo da Vinci; however, da Vinci was the first, original painter of The Last Supper. My favorite Last Supper painting definitely has to be the one by Tintoretto. Tintoretto s work over the years influenced the expansion of baroque art; however; after his death on May 31, 1594, Venetian painting quickly dwindled away ( Tintoretto ). • 26. House On Mango Street Book Assignment Book Assignment For this book assignment I decided to read the book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Cisneros uses a series of vignettes to tell the story of Esperanza Cordero and a year of her life on Mango Street. Esperanza is a 12 year old Mexican American girl, or Chicana, living in a congested Latino neighborhood located in the more poorer area of Chicago. The story begins with Esperanza s family moving to a new house on Mango street which she describes as an upgrade from their previous house but it is still not the home her heart desires. Esperanza has big dreams of eventually leaving Mango Street and owning her own real house with a big yard and multiple washrooms, just like the ones she sees on television. Esperanza s journey into maturity and development is described through these interestingly written vignettes. She begins writing poetry as a way of expressing the events happening in her life such as developing friends, puberty and sprouting hips, and even dealing with sexual assault. The first half of the book begins with Esperanza wanting to continue to play in her little child bubble but is pushed into the world of adulthood when dealing with the deaths of her grandfather and Aunt Lupe and when she is abruptly kissed by an older man while at her first job. Esperanza also writes about her neighbors and happenings of the neighborhood to paint a picture of the different paths in life that are available to her. She switches her interest to the older women of the neighborhood who each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By following the guidelines of the Atkin s Diet, the lack of carbohydrates in the diet induces high amounts of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are the fats that the body is not able to metabolize completely because there are not enough carbohydrates available to aid fat digestion. Therefore in order for the body to maintain proper function, also known as homeostasis, it burns the ketone bodies off as energy, break down nutrients from other resources, such as the calcium from bones, and limit the amount of energy to parts of the body to maintain homeostasis. These physiological responses seem to occur consistently for dieters on low carbohydrate diets whereas non restricted carbohydrate dieters were rarely observed to have any of these types of responses. In fact, studies show that balance meals of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats provided in a non restricted carbohydrate diet provides the body with sufficient nutrients to generate enough energy to maintain proper bodily function. For the body to maintain proper bodily function, the body has to supply the brain with enough of carbohydrates, which is its main energy source. • 39. Women s Portrayal Of Women It is strange how one director can convey two entirely different depictions of women. Due to the time period in which Hitchcock filmed Vertigo and Psycho, women had limited capability in regards to what they could do in a film. Women could not be action heroes; in fact they were often depicted as damsels in distress. The easiest answer to this sort of prejudice is that it was a reflection of the culture of the 50s and 60s. Although this is partially true, it does not excuse the fact that male directors made misogynistic choices that could have been remedied without being considered radical or societally unacceptable. The inconsistencies in Hitchcock s portrayal of women reveals this much, as shown by a study in the narrative, mise en scėne, and cinematography of Vertigo (1958) and Psycho (1960). The main female character in Vertigo is two people, in a sense, but even this duplicity does not help her gain control in the film s narrative. Judy Barton is the woman s real name, but she spends the first half of the movie charading as Madeleine Elster. One of the first scenes in which we see Madeleine is when John is stalking her at the request of Gavin Elster. The cinematography of this sequence reveals a lot about their relationship and how John objectifies Madeleine and Judy. The power that each consumer s purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much in response to a change in price. • 43. Why Did The Big Bang Theory Exist There are many possible conclusions that scientists may come to when looking at the universe s beginning. Although we can not go back in time to look at the past, there are many logical theories which could determine what happened. Throughout the many possible scientific theories for the origin of the universe, the big bang theory is the most logical about how the universe began due to how the universe is expanding, leftover energy, and the abundance of certain elements. The big bang theory is the leading explanation about how the universe began. This phenomenon shows that the universe started in a small singularity which grew to what we know today. A singularity is a zone of finite matter shoved into an area of infinite density. Scientists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Big Bang model of origins, it is thought to be that the universe was full of extremely concentrated and unstable energy. In fact, it is assumed that the matter was so compact that one teaspoon of space weighed 100 million trillion trillion trillion pounds, which defies the laws of physics. Three minutes after the big bang, all the hydrogen atoms were created, and after some more time, all helium atoms were created. If the conditions stayed at such a high temperature, the elements we see today would be different and the conditions for life would not be met. Both of them were sold into slavery by the British and are brought to Surinam. Imoinda was sold into slavery first by Oroonoko s grandfather. Oroonoko was tricked by a royal guest and then sold to Trefry. This owner befriended Oroonoko and it shows compassion, purity, and persuasiveness on both Oroonoko s part and on Trefry s. This is where Oroonoko has his name changed to Caesar as was custom with slaves. It is a practice that further removes them from their homeland and severs any ties to their identity with their families. He then becomes, who many believe, a hero as he leads a slave revolt that ends with his horrible execution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
