How To Visit To A Metropolitan Museum
Over the spring break, I chose to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my friends Irene and
Mei. We explored many exhibits such as The Egyptian Art, The American Wing, and Asian Art. I
saw statues, ceramics, textiles, pottery, and paintings. I really enjoyed looking at the Sphinx and
sarcophagus in the Egyptian Art section. The interior design of the museumwas so well planned out
in each exhibit from the lighting of the room to the smell. The interior design of the museum was
so exquisite especially the atmosphere it created. I felt like I could explore the corners of the
world in one building.
I enjoyed the Asian Art and American Wing the most because there were so many displays on the
Asian art collection and American Wing. The

The Identity of an American Puerto Rican Essay
The Identity of an American Puerto Rican Am I American or Puerto Rican , a question that
wanders along the halls of my mind all the time? Many Puerto Ricans might not agree, but I feel
that I am, American , Puerto Rican American that is. As a child my own parents deprived me of my
culture and true identity. They spoke to me in a language that many Puerto Ricansrefused or
detested to learn, English. The only thing I can actually say that I know about Puerto Rican
heritage is the comida we shared during family gatherings. In Spanish the words are habichuelas
con arroz; in English, rice and beans; and in any language they translate into the food staples of
island life (p. 59, Fernandez). I went to Puerto Rico when I was four... Show more content on

Though my readings can contradict such happy memories, I will soon talk about the political,
economic, social relations and identity issues that Puerto Ricans had to encounter after the Spanish
American War and during the United States invasion and how it affected Puerto Ricans then and
now.
The political status, who cares about politics and its status? Well many Puerto Ricans did when the
United States invaded it. There were so many issues about the island wanting to be self governed.
According to Fernandez, others wanted statehood, while still others adamantly opposed the
inclusion of the statehood ideal in any Union platform; to paraphrase one protester, the United
States was able to deny Puerto Rico both statehood and self government. That was its right. But it
was not able to deny the island its independence because that was a right of the Puerto Rican people
(p. 43). Still, until present day the island is indecisive about becoming a state or staying a
commonwealth or even being independent. After the Spanish American War Puerto Ricans had
more of a decision to make about what they wanted to do with themselves. They weren t under
Spanish rule anymore, but inherited the American Government to help with certain affairs, though,
cries for help were sometimes ignored. For example, on August 12, 1907, Jose De Diego stopped at
Oyster Bay to once again plead for more self government . When the petition was duly filed and,

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Influenza By John Barry
The Author of The Great Influenza, John M. Barry, used rhetorical devices to inform the public of
how science is about not knowing and figuring out how to prove the suggested idea. The scientists
had to deal with uncertainty and manipulating results and experiments to prove their idea, just like
Barry used rhetorical devices to manipulate the reader s ideas and thoughts.
John M. Barry has written award winning books including the Influenza pandemic of 1918, and the
great Mississippi flood. Being invited by 2 presidential administrations, Bush and Obama, to advise
on preparedness for pandemics and pandemic response. Having also advised on state, federal, UN
and world health organizations on influenza, water disasters, risk communication and crisis
management Barry is more than qualified to talk about such a topic considering his past of assisting
the world with disaster prevention and response. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People have to admit that they are uncertain of what could be it is logical appeal because we don
t know everything about the world we live in and if we think we do then what is the point of science
, innovation, and change? He also mentioned how one scientist makes the trail and other scientists
pave the road ahead. Barry was stating that we can t do everything on our own and we have to
accept and encourage the help of others. He said scientists that deal with and accept uncertainty
may not have the creative capacity to design the experiments to prove or disprove the debated
topic. Science is logical and having the ability to state that we don t know everything is part of
what makes society

The Impact of Suicide and Drug Related Deaths on the...
According to the Center for Disease Control, in 2011, the age adjusted death rate for the United
States was 740.6 per 100,000 of the population. Presumably, some may consider this a problem
when considering the impact on the bereaved. In particular, I wanted to look at families whose
loss was contributed to suicide or a drug related death. The CDC also states, with approximately
4600 adolescent suicides each year in the United States, it is the third leading cause of death for
that age range. Drug Overdose was the leading cause of injury death in 2010, with it causing more
deaths than motor vehicle traffic crashes (CDC Website). Families, who experience the loss of a
loved one by suicide or death related to drugs, may feel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Triangles can be defined as an emotional response to some type of anxiety between two people
that causes them to reach out to a third party. This third entity is there to provide sympathy and to
defuse the anxiety experienced between the other two parties or individuals. In addition to
Triangles, Differentiation of Self is another key concept in Bowen s Theory. This is when an
individual has the ability to separate themselves in two ways, intellectually and emotionally. People
who have differentiated themselves from his or her family of origin, reacts to situations
intellectually instead of emotionally. Multigenerational Emotional Processes, originally called
undifferentiated family ego mass, is a word that describes a family who is very emotionally
reactive. As individuals, who we attach ourselves to, and how we deal with pressures of life are
greatly affected, when the undifferentiated family ego mass goes unchecked. During times of
intense and prolonged family tension, the Nuclear Family Emotional System experiences certain
behaviors within the four relationship patterns. The four relationship patterns are Marital Conflict,
Dysfunction in one spouse, Impairment of one or more children, and Emotional Distance. Another

The One Child Policy Restricted Citizens Of China
The one child policy restricted citizens of China to one child per family. This family planning
policy was created in 1980 to help a growing population. The effects of this policy included millions
of forced abortions and sterilizations (Wong 2). In 2013, the policy was relaxed because the drop in
population created an age gap in China. Also the ratio of males to females became unequal. There
were up to 116.9 boys for every 100 girls in China (Luo 2). The old continuity was a one child
policyput into place for over thirty years. Change occurred when the policy was relaxed in 2013 to
allow more families the opportunity to have more than one child. The new continuity is a small, but
helpful increase in population, as more families... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At its peak in the 1960s, the fertility rate was 5.8 babies for each woman of childbearing age
thanks to Mao Zedong s promotion of large families for the sake of the nation. It soon plummeted
to 2.9 when his successors made contraceptives and abortion widely available. (Branigan 2). The
population ending up exploding and in 1982, a census revealed that the population passed 1
billion. Article 25 of the Constitution of 1982 was formulated to state, The state promotes
family planning so that population growth may fit the plans for economic and social
development. (China 1). The government in China used this Article to create the family
planning policy in order to and fix the sudden population boost. The one child policy restricted
families in urban areas to one child and families in rural and pastoral areas to a maximum of two
kids. A government issued report from 2001 states that the policy had effectively curbed the
rapidly growing population (Luo 1). The government also stated that without the enforcement of
this policy the population would have had an extra 330 million people in 2001. To keep this
policy in tact over the years, a financial punishment of heavy fines up to $300 were set in place.
Although this policy helped stop the population explosion, it created a new crisis: in 15 years more
than 400 million [people] over the age of 60 will make a large gap in age groups in China
(McKenzie 2). Another effect of the one child policy was

A Pair Of Silk Stockings Stereotypes
In the short story A Pair of Silk Stockings, Chopin the author shows the stereotypical female role
a lot. He shows this in the character of Mrs.Sommers. He shows this by making a big deal of
how much money she had for herself, the way she always thinks about her kids, and how she
feels when she does all the stuff for herself. He portrayed the stereotypical female and mother
role very well with Mrs. Sommers. In the story it seemed very odd that Mrs. Sommers had so
much money to herself. She was a lower class female, and fifteen dollars was a lot for that time.
Having this much cash on her gave her a feeling of importance, and higher up. She also claims
herself as an unexpected possessor of the money. She also grew very giddy on how to spend

Impact Of The Renaissance Change In Modern Europe
How the renaissance changed early modern Europe
Early modern Europe was an interesting and important time for all of Europe. From 1300 to 1800,
many events were set into motion that would forever change Europe, and to extent, the rest of the
world. No other event in European history is as recognizable or synonymous with early modern
European history than the event simply known as The Renaissance.
The Renaissance is most famous for occurring in Italy, and is commonly known as a time in which
a cultural rebirth, or awakening occurred. Renaissance Italy is often referred to as The birthplace of
the modern world (Butters, 159). The renaissance ushered in a new era of literature, education, arts,
religious thinking, culture, economy, and politics in Italy. These new and radical changes quickly
spread throughout Europe, as they were revolutionary and very popular. In political change, during
the renaissance, figures known as the Signorie brought about change when they overthrew the old
republican regime of early modern Italy. The Signorie were lordships that were rules by a single
man who then passed on power and leadership to his firstborn son. The Signorie justified their
authority with the claim that they provided a stable form of government and social peace, unlike
the oligarchic and popular government, especially when the two fought amongst themselves.
When it comes to religious practices and cultural change, it could be argued that the renaissance had
the biggest

Role Of The United States On The Age Of Globalization
INTRODUCTION This paper will examine the role of the United States in textile and apparel
production in the age of globalization and will provide an overview of trade agreements enacted in
the textile and apparel industry. A discussion of the different trade agreements and how the U.S.
textile and apparel industry has been affected by those agreements will be given along with ideas
about what the United States can do to continue to operate in the domestic market of textiles and
apparel. HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES TEXTILE AND APPAREL INDUSTRY The
American textile industry has been around for as long as the country has been in existence. In the
beginning, most textile and apparel items were created by artisans, who worked mainly in their
homes. In the 18th century, the country was hit with the industrial revolution which brought many
changes to the textile industry. The local artisans were replaced by textile industries and
manufactures. With the invention of the spinning jenny, spinning frame, water frame and power
loom, the textile industry was revolutionized. Later, with the use of electrical power, these
inventions were made more efficient. Fabric production was mechanized with machines powered
by waterwheels and steam engines. Production was shifting from the small cottage based
production into a mass production in various factories. (Kunz) Sewing machines were emerging in
the 19th century which further streamlined clothing production. During the post

Capstone Of Reflection
Reflecting on the Journey
Throughout my two semesters in CommSkills 1015 and 1016, I have learned a lot, and
developed academically. The countless essays and speeches have helped me to become a better
writer, and speaker. Prior to my time in CommSkills, I would write without a goal. I would sit
down and words would go down on paper, but they never truly accomplished the goals that I had
while writing. Through attention to MAP, attention to detail and practice I have come a long way.
The Integrative Learning Rubric is a way of measuring how well students can use the knowledge
they acquire from their studies in real life. Throughout my year in CommSkills, I have greatly

It is also important that you are able to see these strengths and weaknesses in aspects of your life
outside of writing papers and speeches. Once I realized why I struggled with procrastination, I was
able to take advantage of it. I knew that I would always prefer to be doing something active so I
used this knowledge to get a lot of hours in volunteering with the Special Olympics. Instead of
procrastinating by going for a run or to the gym, I went to special olympics events on tuesdays
and thursdays. I was not required to do more than ten hours of service work for class, but once I
started I truly could not stop. I loved and still love, taking the time to support people with
disabilities, but it did not only help them. I always leave Special Olympics events with a refreshed
perspective on life. It puts into perspective both your happiness and the daily struggles we all face.
If my friends at Special Olympics bowling can come every week with a smile on their face and put
their best foot forward, so can I. We all face our own problems in life and working with the Special

Prejudice And Discrimination In The Military
Racial Prejudice
[T]he core of racism essentially includes a prejudiced sense of superiority...Individual racism
occurs when individuals discriminate against members of another racial group because they
believe that their own group is superior (Utsey, Ponterotto, Porter, 2008, p. 339). The chain is only
as strong as its weakest link in a military service. Racism, prejudice, and discrimination are kinks in
the moral integrity of the chain that have negative effects on employee morale and the service s
reputation. In 2007, the United States Coast Guard s (USCG s) commitment to diversity and
inclusion was tested when personnel in connection with the USCG Academy cadets found hangman

leadership will not tolerate further actions in the workplace. Also, it is an opportunity for the
manager or higher leadership to reiterate their position on zero tolerance of prejudicial behavior by
any employee. Taking action and sending the message soon after the incident may also put the

Rain On The Roof Analysis
12079 The most engaging writers will make themselves known through their texts It is
indisputable that the most engaging writers are those who reflect upon some of their own
deepest feelings throughout their texts and make themselves known to the reader. Janet Frame
interweaves her classic cynical style of writing into her poems Rain on the Roof , The Tree and
The Chrysalids and explores many of the unspoken, hard truths of humanity. Frame
characteristically utilizes language techniques of first person narration, vivid imagery with
references to nature and extended metaphors to express her ideas of conformity, guilt, and
suffering all of which revolve around the enigmatic side to humanity which often goes untold in
literature. Frame ingrains some of her own emotions and experiences into these texts which
enables readers to connect to her writing on a personal level and identify more specifically with
her disposition. I did not know. I would never have believed that every house I stole contained a
jewel. First person narration is an effective technique utilised to make the reader confront the
idea of repentance in the poem The Chrysalids . Here, Frame describes a personal experience
from her childhood which she now looks back on in shame. We observe her honest emotion as
she narrates I feel compassion for the world I robbed . From a more mature perspective, she is
able to see the destruction she innocently caused as a child. First person narration is employed
again in another one of Frame s poems, Rain on the Roof. Once more, this language technique
invites the reader into Frame s world of hardship and affliction and her styleenables readers to feel
her seclusion as if it were their own. In this poem, Frame observes the way in which her nephew
handles his grief by recapturing the sound of rain falling on the roof . Similar to The Chrysalids,
this poem is a retrospective and Frame narrates in a rather blunt and condescending tone. Her
distinctive voice shows through as she comments I do not say to him, The heart has its own
comfort for grief , symbolising the fact that her nephew must find strength from within to cope with
his pain. In both poems, Frame empathises the universal theme of

To encourage a greater bike mode share, our solution is to create an app called Bykes that would
be used as an aide to bikers whenever they wanted to plan bike trips and ride along routes. The
main feature of the app is that it will route bike riders from their origin to their destination while
keeping them on designated bike lanes and trails as much as possible. The service will ask each
user what their comfort level is before the route is chosen, and then the algorithm will choose a
path that best reflects this comfort level. With a more experienced biker, the service will route
them on a more direct path, but that path might include roads that have a higher traffic volume or

This will allow the roads to be rated on actual users experiences and allow for iteration of the
quality of these roads over time. The comfort rating will be dynamic instead of static. In addition
to this survey, users can also input the location of specific hazards along bike routes. This
includes hazards such as potholes or obstacles in the path, a rough pavement condition,
construction, and more. Construction was one of the more prominent issues that arose in our
Google Form survey, which makes sense because construction normally occurs at the edges of
the roadway, which is where bike lanes are often located. An example of this is seen in Figure 3.
Figure 3: Construction blocking a bike lane (Gatoona 2012). It s important to take these
obstacles into account when routing bikers, because the hazards will often cause the riders to
swerve into traffic, which will not provide for a safe and comfortable biking experience. Sources
of Data Initially, the roads will need to be evaluated for their comfort levels so they can be
properly matched with bikers that need a certain minimum comfort level. Two methods can be
used to assist in this evaluation: Bike Level of Service (BLOS) and Level of Traffic Stress (LTS).
These are two different ways of quantifying the comfort levels of the roads for bikers. They include
variables such as vehicle volumes, speed

Lsi Life Styles Inventory Paper
GM 591 Yvonne Hobbs
LSI Paper
The life styles inventory is a survey of questions that help us to gain an insight into our own
personality and what type of behaviors we exert to others as individuals. It helps us to look at the
positive and negative qualities of our personalities and ways to improve upon them. A look at my
LSI styles complex radiates that my primary thinking style is linked to the avoidance category.
The avoidance scale states that I tend to use the strategy of withdrawal by hiding my feelings and
being shy to express myself. It also states that as things become more threatening to me the more I
tend to avoid those situations. These thinking styles are linked to feelings of denying responsibility

There are times where I feel the need to dominate and lead the way such as when working with my
dad in his apartment management company. I observe him overruling his tenants and exerting his
power to put people in their place and follow the complex rules and regulations, and have
somehow manifested those qualities into myself, like in example, if I am at work and he is not
there then I do find myself to be quite dominating and exerting my power to get tenants to do
what there suppose to do or pay their rent. I also find myself being dominating to people I know
are weaker than me or just shy and not outspoken about their feelings. The other style that I was
tied with is the conventional scale which measures my tendency to act in a conforming way.
These tendencies are characterized by perceiving rules as a source of comfort and security.
There is also a preference for staying unseen and unnoticed and a tendency to cover up my

Additionally there is a reduction in originality which is very true for my behavior. These

The rise of crude oil has also effected the sales of trucks. With comapnays no buying or spending
as much on a truck has hurt the econonmy. High desiel prices are a consequence of capitalism. As
all fuel prices have been going up people are blaming the federal govenerment. They believe the
president has influence of derterming the outcomes of tensions betwwen Israel and Iran. Some
people blame incrased prices based on fears around the world. It all comes down to one thing to
blame, capitalism. Calitalism can be great to an economic system because of its emphasis on
efficienc and inbradible success rate at allowing those who control the means of production and
resources to meet the demands of those with purchasing power. Capitalism is constantly evolveing
and will impact the gap between current and future goals on oil prices.
The top five Oil and Gas companies are: Saudi Aramco, Gazprom, National Iranian Oil
Company, ExxonMobil and PetroChina. These company work together by using some sort of
scare tatic in order to raise fuel prices. Take ExxonMobil for example, these companys have

How Did Charles Darwin Contribute To Science
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most
responsive to change, this was said by Charles Darwin, a naturalist who developed the theory of
evolution to explain biological change. Almost all things are somehow affected or reshaped
entirely by scientific advances. Science plays a huge role in everyone and every things life. There
are many scientist who have discovered, helped advance, or even invented incredible things. And in
the top 100 influential scientist sits Charles Darwin. Just like any other scientist, his studies open
doors to many more. His research and visions of common ancestry revolutionized studies in
comparative anatomy, embryology, and taxonomy, and has brought together the basic rule of all
biology. But Darwin s innovative idea of the process of evolutionwas received cautiously and
remains in the minds of many scientist today. His idea made a huge leap, but there was a missing
puzzle piece that was found by scientist Gregor Mendel who figured out that heredity depends on
genes. So without Darwin s grand theory many discoveries enabled by the application of
evolutionary tools would have not been made. Darwin s ideas have been enhanced and modified as
new knowledge and technologies have become... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this branch took awhile to fully developed most of it was based off of Darwinian
concepts. Another side of philosophy of biology deals with the role of laws. In physical sciences
laws are the bases of theories like the law of motion lead to the theory of gravity. But in
evolutionary biology theories are widely based on concepts like female choice, dominance and
succession, and selection. Over the past century a pronounced change in the methodology in
biology took place. Darwin did not directly cause this change but he did strengthened by his
developments in evolutionary biology (Mayr).

Voyeurism And Fear In The Movie Peeping Tom
Helen s blind mother, Mrs. Stephens, in the movie Peeping Tom, plays a crucial role in enticing
Michael Powell s major themes of voyeurism and fear, and is the only character who is able to
bring a deeper understanding of Mark as a person and the humanity he hides deep within his
childhood.
Film scholar Linda Williams has observed that silent films in the early 1900 s often portrayed the
heroin to be naГЇve and figuratively or even physically blind. This rests on the concept of voyeurism
and objectification of women as well as the fact that women exist solely for the purpose to be
looked at and are not in the position to see for pleasure themselves. The true satisfaction attained
during voyeuristic activities is from the victim being unaware of being watched, making a blind
woman an ideal victim for a voyeur because of their inability to detect being watched. Contrarily,
Mark utilizes a camera with a mirror and a knife attached to the end of its tripod as a weapon.
This weapon is essential for fulfilling his goal of filming his victims in genuine terror as they
prepare to be killed. Mark does not kill Mrs. Stephens because even though he prepares to kill her
at one point, he realizes that she is unable to watch her own death due to her blindness, thus not
contributing to his film and experiment. This shows that Mark is not an ordinary Peeping Tom, and
that his voyeurism stems primarily from his childhood and the filmed episodes of his life that his
father directed. His perverted acts of voyeurism and violence are for purposes much larger than just
his own pleasure.
An important quotation in the movie is when Mark asks, Do you know what the most
frightening thing in the world is? and he answers himself with, It s fear. This shows Powell s
point that fear is manifested by the acknowledgement that fear itself exists. Through Powell s
definition of fear Mrs. Stephens is fearless because she is unable to ever see what is coming her
way, including Mark or her own death. The fear she is able to perceive comes from the fear of the
unknown or the fear that her presumptions that Mark is deeply troubled may be right. On the other
hand, Mark wants his victims to fear the coming death and his weapon pointed at

Introduction And Our Current Business Value Chain
1. Introduction and our Current Business Value Chain
Value chain is defined as the set of activities that a firm operating in a specific industry performs
in order to deliver a valuable product or service to the market. Michael Porter first described this
concept in the 1980 s, and many businesses focus on their specific activities based on this idea.
Due to the nature of our business and the industry we are in, it is clear that our restaurant s value
chain consists of small business, consumer based activities. The primary activities in our value
chain are the purchases of raw foods, inventory control and restaurant operations, logistics, customer
service, marketing, and sales. The support activities are our accounting, finance, and systems
support departments, as well as the legal, environmental, and safety requirements me must adhere
to. The process of hiring, firing, and training is important in our human resource department also.
All of the above listed activities have an equal degree of importance when it comes to delivering
valuable food and service in our restaurant. We need the capital to buy high quality raw foods in
order to satisfy our customers, the staff, both front and back of house, to cook the meals and serve
them in a timely matter; as well as the systems support to monitor our revenues and table turnover.
As for the primary activities, we must purchase our raw foods and get them delivered in a
reasonable price and time, control the level of inventory so

Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay
Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the
same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the
heart is blocked.
Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease
,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac
arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do
not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps
very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with
sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death,
2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no
pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. Four rhythms produce pulseless cardiac arrest:
ventricular fibrillation, rapid ventricular tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity and asystole. (

However, even if Hawaiians manage to obtain full time jobs, the majority of the time it is not

Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii
Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall.
The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France
during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which
was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in paintingimages with
antiquity. The Oath of the Horatiihas elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture.
Oath of the Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics
attention (Fred S. Kleiner 680).
Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this
composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by
their father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be
Rome. While taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison
with one another. They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords
up and out towards the Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are
saluting towards the swords. The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no
emotion of fear on their faces. The brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the
muscular details of their legs and arms. They appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The
father does not

A Roman Domus was an ancient Roman house. It was usually owned by wealthy Roman families,
and contained a countless number of rooms and wings. The average Roman Domus contained a
Vestibulum, Taberna, Atrium, Tablinum, Trinclinium, Peristylium, Exedra and several alae and
cubiculums. However, the Domus was not just a place where wealthy families lived. It was also a
place of business and religious ceremonies. Roman Domuses were usually built so that that they
did not face the street. In fact, they often had walls separating them from the street and nearby
Domuses. Now, I will proceed to describe the many rooms of the Roman Domus.
First, the Domus contained several entrance halls. One entrance hall was the Vestibulum. The...

The Peristylium was an open courtyard or garden in the center of the Domus. This courtyard
contained flowers, shrubs, fountains, fish, and pools of water, benches, and sculptures. There was a
portico, which surrounded the courtyard. The inner walls of this portico were highly decorated with
paintings and art. Sometimes, the Perystilium also contained a lararium a shrine for the household
gods.
The seventh room of the Roman Domus was the Exedra. The Exedra was located right next to the
Peristylium, and was a formal dining room. It was used for lavish dinner parties and events. Often,
the Exedra was decorated with a garden or nature theme. For example, one might find an Exedra
decorated with mosaics of nature god or goddess.
The next room of the Domus is the Culina. The Culina was the kitchen. Located in a small corner
of the house, it was usually dark and poorly ventilated. This was because since the slaves did all
of the cooking, their masters were indifferent as to whether or not the environment where their
slaves worked was hot, small or stuffy. The Romans cooked their food using ovens, the top of

Leaders Like Martin Luther King, Jr.
Leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill and Hitler have one
thing in common; the word charisma is usually attached to them when people describe their
characteristics as a leader. Charisma defined by the online Merriam Webster Dictionary is a
personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure (as
a political leader); a special magnetic charm or appeal (Merriam Webster, 2014). The Oxford
Dictionary states that charismais Compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in
others (Oxford University Press, 2014).
Max Weber (known as the father of sociology) first introduced the concept of charisma with the
relationship to power and authority. He described charisma as a personality trait that sets her/him
apart from the masses. The charismatic individual is deemed to have supernatural, superhuman,
or to possess exceptional power that is not readily accessible to a regular person (Weber, 1947).
Weber further believed that charisma was the result of a social crisis and that these leaders have
extraordinary appeal because they ...emerge with the radical vision that provides the solution to the
crisis (Barbuto, 1997, p. 689). For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. arose in the civil rights
movement as a beacon of change, equality and eventually for peace.
The power of the charismatic leader is often defined by how the followers perceive and act.

Haiti was once the first black independent republic in the world and the richest island in the

The country experienced repeated civil war and foreign intervention. Haitiis not isolated from the
international world. Thus, it was not out of concern for ordinary Haitians that the United States
intervened in Haiti. It was out of concern for profit and stability within the United States own

Over one thousand miles of roads and two hundred bridges were built. The occupiers reconstructed
the French irrigation system that Haiti had, new wharves and acetylene lighthouses were built.
Theaters and parks were restored or built from the ground up. The public health systems were
enlarged; hospitals and clinics were set up across the country. Even American doctors came to train
Haitian doctors, and some Haitian doctors went to the U.S. to study (Thomas Smith: 291, video).
These are the only things that Haiti benefited from this intervention.
Another achievement made during this transition was that the Marines from the US established
reformation of the Haitian army. They replaced it by a National Police Force (La Garde d Haiti)
that dominated Haitian politics ever since. This army had been conceived as a nonpartisan
peacekeeping force that would help ensure the right kind of political stability. During the
occupation it did so. Afterward, however the existence of such a force ended by helping political
strongmen stay in power.
The Haitian Garde was especially created to fight against other Haitians. It received its baptism of
fire in combat against its countrymen. And the Garde, like the army it was to sire, has indeed never
fought anyone but Haitians. Its most important campaign was its participation alongside the
Marines in the war against the peasant nationalists led by Charlemagne Peralte and Benoit

art work? Not everyone has the same veiw or feelings on one piece or another. A work could
have flaws to one person, but at the same time the flaws could be the perfection to another. As in
Vatican CafГ©, the many colors to this painting could be the final touch to making this
complete. Others, ideas could be that the colors are too many and loses your focus of the main
points of the piece. Or that the cartoon characteristics make the painting look easy and child like.
On the other hand, it can give the painting a simple kind way of showing the worst in a subject.
Overall, what formally attracted me to this piece of art work would have been that it resembles
The Last Supper. Not only does it resemble The Last Supper, but it does it in a humorous way.
Although, it looks foolish at first, it has so many meanings behind it. Jim Denomie nationality is

Boo Radley Prejudice
The definition of the word prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual
experience. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee shows the horrible things prejudice can
cause to the people the prejudice is against, including three main characters: Arthur Radley, Atticus
Finch and Tom Robinson. To start off, the result of prejudice
is seen through Arthur Boo Radley. In
the town of Maycomb County, Boo Radley is known of as a beast (or monster) for stabbing his
father in the leg while he was making a scrapbook, among other things. Although this was not the
best thing he could ve done, no one actually knows if there was a reason for him doing this and the
citizens of Maycomb are not letting Arthur show what type of person he actually is. Another

we read about how Atticus is very well trained with a gun. Yet, this is something Atticus is not

prejudice towards Atticus is when he gets called a nigger lover for supporting the idea of him

Donald Trump And Race Relations
With Donald Trump s ascension to the presidency months ago, he inherited a nation divided on
many issues, including race relations. Thus, a question is raised: How has President Trump
worked to address the issue of race relations in the United States? He has promised to do
everything he could to help race relations improve and unify the country, as demonstrated by the
quote: Today and every day of my presidency I pledge to do everything I can to continue that
promise of freedom for African Americans and for every American...We re going to bring this
country together (Cottman, 2017). Unfortunately, it does not seem likely that race relations will
improve so as long as Trump remains president. The facts below will prove that Trump has
worsened race relations in America, and deepened the justifiable fear of division which many
Americans feel. Such a conclusion can be clearly made through the observation of his past and
present conduct.
Trump promised on the campaign trail to dramatically improve the lives of African Americans,
saying Every African Americancitizen in this country is entitled to a government that puts their

Persuasive Essay On Home Ownership
The American dream is a phrase which evokes a different meaning depending on whom you ask.
However, there are some similar concepts that run throughout most interpretations. Most
Americans envision being able to live a happy life if they work hard enough. This would most
likely include a stable income, fulfilling career, and a place to live. In recent years, I believe the
thought of an ideal living situation has evolved. As living costs continue to increase, many
Millennials are finding it harder to move out on their own and be able to support themselves. The
vision of a big house with a white picket fenceis no longer the ultimate goal, because many young
people just don t find it realistic in today s economy. Home ownership is a big deal and comes

Compare And Contrast Two Ideological Perspectives
In this assignment two ideological perspectives will be discussed, an ideology is a collection of
ideas about the world, they have a relationship with political parties, political movements or state
regime. Firstly neo liberalism will be discussed and secondly social democracy, I will then discuss
the relationship of both ideological perspectives in relation to health. This assignment will conclude
by choosing which ideological perspective is best suited to addressing health care within society.
Neo liberalism
Neo liberalism is the reworking of the old idea of liberalism, neo meaning new and liberalism

the market to be moved from a public sector to a more private one where all individuals will

Why Is Chocolate Milk Banned
Have you ever seen the nutritional facts on a carton of chocolate milk? You probably have.
Now, have you ever compared the facts with a regular coke? Probably not. The facts are
astounding. Chocolate milk has 1 more gram of sugar than a 8 fluid ounces of coke and has
approximately 100 more calories! In addition, chocolate milk has eight more grams of fat! That
is extremely unreasonable! I think chocolate milk should be banned from schools across the
nation because it is over consumed, it is very unhealthy, and it sweetens the taste buds of kids.
Chocolate milk is a pure kid magnet. Studies show that an average chocolate milk drinker drinks 10
15 cartons of milk a week; which results in an average 300 extra calories a week! As Ann cooper,...

she is probably bias and will naturally support chocolate milk with money incentive. The amount
of sugar in chocolate milk is outrageous, and plain milk is already sweet enough. There is no
need for an artificial sweetener. Chocolate milk sweetens the taste buds for those who were taught
to drink it. In addition, it is addictive. Just like many other things, once you start, you can t stop. It

Determining The Molarity Of a Potato Cytoplasm
Determining the Molarity of a potato cytoplasm
An Experiment to find the concentration of a potato cell cytoplasm.
Aim: To find the concentration of a potato cell cytoplasm compared to sucrose and salt. I mainly
was looking to see how concentration of salt/sucrose affects the mass of the potato cores.
Prediction/Hypothesis:
My prediction is that as the concentration increases, the potato cell will lose more weight. This is
because of the osmosis of water particles from the potato cell cytoplasm to the solution, resulting
in a loss of weight. As the concentration decreases, the potato will lose less weight until a certain
point where the osmosis of particles in and out of the potato cells will be equal. I also predict that

I sprayed more water into my beaker to dissolve any remaining salt particles.
I then repeated this until all of the salt was in the volumetric flask.
Next, I poured distilled water just below the 250ml mark on the neck of the volumetric flask.
Thereafter I used a pipette to meticulously drop in water up to the 250ml mark.
Finally I put the bung in the volumetric flask, and I relentlessly inverted it to fully mix the solution.
Fair Test
I will make sure that my tests are fair because I will:
Use Equal widths of potato core each time by using the same corer. This is important because if I
used a different corer, the potato core might come out as a different width. This could be because of
rust, or maybe even the thickness of the metal.
Repeat each concentration of sodium chloride solution 5 times to achieve a more accurate average.
This is important because it can help me to detect any anomalies in my data caused by mistakes or
errors. Identifying these mistakes can help to strengthen my investigation and reduce the amount of
anomalous results.
Make sure the Classroom temperature is the same each time I do the investigation. This is because;
a higher classroom temperature can increase the rate of reaction resulting in results that do not form
a pattern.

Overexpansion often occurs when business owners confuse success with how fast they can
expand their business (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion.). In a 2005 study done by the Law School
at the University of Chicago, It was found that of the chapter 11 small business Bankruptcies issued

as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom before moving into new markets such as
Australia, South Africa and Turkey.
If Fix Auto desires to maximize corporate efficiency, they need to begin operating the differing

2.The employee rights during the employee relationship 2.1.The importance of work life balance
and related legislation concerning holidays, rest periods, working hours and night working It is
imperative that the employee can balance his/her working life against his/her personal life.
With sufficient time off and rest periods, employees will feel looked after and be motivated to
put in more effort. There will be a reduction of mistakes because the employee has had adequate
rest which results in a more positive working environment. Employers who introduce such
practices in the work place in order to help employees achieve a better and satisfactory work/life
balance can expect to see an increase in motivation, enhanced performance/productivity and
greater staff loyalty. By implementing a positive work/life balance, companies are successful,
secure a good reputation and promote positive employee relations. The Working Time
Regulations 1998 stipulates that employers should provide employees with the following basic
rights: 28 days holiday (paid) for full time employees (part time employees would receive this on a

Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman was born on May 31, 1819, in West Hills, Long Island, New York. He was the
second of six children. From 1825 1830, he attended public school in Brooklyn. After his years of
education, Walt Whitman experimented with many different jobs. From 1836 1838, Whitman
taught at several schools in Long Island. After teaching, Walt Whitmanreturned to printing and
editing in New York. During this time he edited many papers such as the Aurora (daily newspaper),
Evening Tattler, BrooklynWeekly Freeman, Brooklyn Daily Eagle and the Brooklyn Times. In
addition to editing, he also wrote for the Long Island Star. From 1850 1854, Whitman owned and

How and Why did the themes of WaltWhitman s writing change over time?In 1855, Walt Whitman
published his first piece of literature, Leaves of Grass. During his life, he wrote on a number of
different subjects. The year of 1861 brought many changes in his life. This year and the years that
followed, changed Whitman s life and the poetry that he wrote for two major reasons.
Clearly 1861, with coming of the Civil War, marked a turning point for Whitman: he shed his past
and began a new career with new poetry and new themes (Walt Whitman, pg.18). Although Walt
Whitman did not see the Civil War coming, he was very interested in it. At this time
Whitman was forty one years old and was obviously beyond the age of enlistment. Besides being
to old, Whitman also had to remain at home and take care of his mother (he had been taking care of
her since his fathers death in 1855). Although Whitman was to old, he was determined to be
involved in the war. In 1862, Whitman heard the new that his brother had been hurt near
Fredricksburg, Virginia. As a result, Whitman traveled to Virginia to help his brother. Although his
brother was never wounded, this trip changed Whitman s life. Walt Whitman had finally found his
place to get involved in the war. Upon learning the news that his brother was not wounded,
Whitman decided to travel back to Washington DC. When Whitman was traveling to Fredricksburg,

The Secret Sharer Assignment
In The Secret Sharer by Joseph Conrad, we as readers are introduced to the captain and a former
first mate of another ship who has been arrested for murder of another crew member, whose
name is Legatt. We learn of the captain s elaborate plan to hide Legatt to avoid his capture. First,
he takes Legatt, the arrested first mate, under his wing and instead of arresting him, like he
should, he tells him to hide in his quarters, and throughout the tale, we see Legatt nearly being
captured multiple times, such as when the captain is asked where his coat is, and one of his
crewmen reply that it was in his quarters in the bathroom, to which the captain suddenly goes into
a cold sweat, worrying he might be found out if Legatt is seen. Legatt and the captain appear as
doubles because the captain, feeling sorry for Legatt, decides to give him clothing of his to wear for

What does this mean?: In short, the captain remembers the person who was in his cabin, Legatt,
and since he was a former first mate, he is similar to the captain. The last line signifies that Legatt
has moved on to a new life. Throughout the story, we see the captain refer to Legatt as his second

Sloth In Henry Fairlie s The Seven Deadly Sins Today
Change the channels for an hour or two
Sloth (or Acedia), one of the 7 deadly sins in the Christian tradition, can be generally defined as
physically and emotionally shirking one s duties. Henry Fairlie, in The Seven Deadly Sins Today
, says that Sloth is a state of dejection that gives rise to sluggishness...a poisoning of the will
(Fairlie 113). It is this very state that Green Day describes so aptly in their debut single Longview .
Longview describes the life of the slothful person. In the first few lines the slothful person admits
to himself, I m fucking lazy (Armstrong). This general attitude pervades the entire song and the
worst part of the slothful person in Longview is that he understands this is a dejected state of his
own making. He is in a house with unlocked doors but knows that he has essentially locked the
door to my own cell (Armstrong). This is consistent with Fairlie s understanding of the Christian sin
. In the same way the slothful person in the song locks himself away, so does sloth ... Show more

Failing to love a good according to its proper measures and failing to carry out corresponding
obligations (sloth) can lead a person, as it does in the song, to seek another distraction, one that
perhaps does not require anything of them. Instead of looking for a job, as his mother requests, the
slothful person in Longview smokes, gets high, and masturbates. Getting high (in my experience at
least) tends to contribute to a state of slothfulness and encourages the shirking of one s obligations.
The masturbation part however, seems to fall under another deadly sin, the sin of lust. Seeking
sexual pleasures in the wrong sort of way and improperly loving persons as the man in Longview
is doing appears to be a symptom of lust. In this way Longview shows the relation between sloth
and lust and how easily one can lead to

Summary Of The Beautiful North
A Journey to the North Into the Beautiful north is an awesome novel that relates they story of
Nayeli, a nineteen years old girl and her three friends that decided to migrate to the United States
to hire seven men to defend their little town from some drug traffickers that arrived to their
village. But going north was not an easy journey for Nayeli and her friends. They have so many
trouble on their way to Tijuana. In this research paper there is a review of the scenes in the
Tijuana garbage dump in chapter 12, where immigrants belongings were stolen and they have to
face several dangerous situations. When they arrived to Tijuana, they found out their baggage
got lost, and the driver did not respond for it. So there they are, with no personal belongings and
very little money. Luckily, they meet Don Porfirio and his wife Aracely who offered them a
place to sleep. Aracely and Don Porfirio are a Mixtec Indian couple that come north to Tijuana
to find work and earn some money. Nayeli did not know if she can trust them, but she had no
other options. She and her friends accepted the offer and took the buss with Don Porfirio and
Aracely towards, what they described as, a humble home. The bus stopped near a trash dump.
Don Porfirio described the dump as Home . In fact, Urrea relates that Baptist missionaries have
built their home out of old garage doors smuggled in from San Diego. For Nayeli it was a long sad

Comparison Between Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
A Deeper look into Macbeth and Wuthering Heights
Shakespeare s Macbeth and Bronte s Wuthering Heights prove that men and women are crazy
when dealing with love. People get pushed to their breaking points by loved ones and never
question it. This is because they are blinded by the four letter word that is capable of ruining
someone s life. When you add greed and power into this malicious equation, it becomes even more
cruel. These two bodies of work prove that the men were more affected than the women. The men,
Macbeth and Heathcliff were manipulated by their women and the things going on around them. So
how do women really get control of the relationship?
In the beginning, it is known that Lady Macbeth just lost her infant. Macbeth is away but soon
returns. They both are going through a stage of grief but express it in two totally different ways.
Lady Macbeth was upset and it is clear. Usually when families lose a loved one the parents turn
against one another. But not these two, they are a bit strange. Macbeth considers killing King
Duncan so that he can soon take his place as king but this thought was quickly dismissed. Lady
Macbeth on the other hand wanted this thought to become a reality. Immediately Macbeth declined,
he wanted no part in this intolerable act. This is when Lady Macbeth knows she has to change his
mind. So she commence to antagonize him until she got her way. She makes him feel guilty about
not being loyal to her, making him seem weak, and untrustworthy;

Anti-Aging Benefits Of The Mediterranean Diet
Anti Aging Benefits of Mediterranean Diet
September 15, 2016
Jonathan Swift said, Everybody wants to live forever, but nobody wants to grow old.
Wouldn t it be nice? If we could stay healthy and young, living as long as possible would be great.
Because that is a deep down desire of the majority, many people are always on a quest to slow
down the aging process.
So, our question for today is: What are the Anti Aging Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet?
First, we must acknowledge that no diet in the world can halt or slow the aging process. Aging is
inevitable and food is not the elixir of life although the type of food you choose can lengthen or
shorten your life.
What has been proven by numerous studies is that the Mediterranean diet ... Show more content on

People eat whatever is the most convenient with little regard for their health. This is very upsetting
and dangerous for the population as a whole.
There is a wide assumption that healthy food is not delicious. They believe that they must live on
a steady diet of raw carrots and steamed chicken breasts and decide that is not for them. They
would much rather have a fast food burger and cheese fries instead it s easier and tastier.
What they don t know is that the Mediterranean Diet is filled with DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY
food, which is why people in the Mediterranean Region are often healthier and live longer lives than
Americans.
The foundation of the Med Diet is fresh vegetables. In the US, vegetables are typically an
afterthought, with unhealthy choices like fried potatoes being classified as vegetables.
When you make vegetables the center of your meals, you will get your daily dose of antioxidants
to fight the free radicals in your body; plus give your body necessary nutrients and keep your skin
healthy and supple.
Fruit is another important part of the Med diet. They are filled with nutrients and rich in fiber,

Conflict In Lord Of The Flies Essay
War is the state of conflict and competition between opposing forces. Nonetheless, war can be
caused through emotional and psychological issues through two sides that obtain power from
the support of influential followers. William Golding exhibits this perception in the novel, Lord
of the Flies as a plane carrying a group of British schoolboys is shot down over the Pacific during
a combat warfare in Europe. In the midst of consternation and chaos, Ralph, one of the many
young boys on the plane, is able to distinguish the fear among the boys and use them as a barrier
to survival. Ralph s leadership is visible from the beginning as he is elected leader of the boys,
on the other hand, Jack is cheated out of becoming the leader as he resembles a militaristic
attitude who is greedy to make rules and discipline anyone for breaking his rules. A component of
the novel consists of Ralph and Jack struggling to invest in each others distinct power leading to the
boys descending into savagery and the loss of civilization during the events of the atomic war.

  • 2. How To Visit To A Metropolitan Museum Over the spring break, I chose to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my friends Irene and Mei. We explored many exhibits such as The Egyptian Art, The American Wing, and Asian Art. I saw statues, ceramics, textiles, pottery, and paintings. I really enjoyed looking at the Sphinx and sarcophagus in the Egyptian Art section. The interior design of the museumwas so well planned out in each exhibit from the lighting of the room to the smell. The interior design of the museum was so exquisite especially the atmosphere it created. I felt like I could explore the corners of the world in one building. I enjoyed the Asian Art and American Wing the most because there were so many displays on the Asian art collection and American Wing. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Identity of an American Puerto Rican Essay The Identity of an American Puerto Rican Am I American or Puerto Rican , a question that wanders along the halls of my mind all the time? Many Puerto Ricans might not agree, but I feel that I am, American , Puerto Rican American that is. As a child my own parents deprived me of my culture and true identity. They spoke to me in a language that many Puerto Ricansrefused or detested to learn, English. The only thing I can actually say that I know about Puerto Rican heritage is the comida we shared during family gatherings. In Spanish the words are habichuelas con arroz; in English, rice and beans; and in any language they translate into the food staples of island life (p. 59, Fernandez). I went to Puerto Rico when I was four... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though my readings can contradict such happy memories, I will soon talk about the political, economic, social relations and identity issues that Puerto Ricans had to encounter after the Spanish American War and during the United States invasion and how it affected Puerto Ricans then and now. The political status, who cares about politics and its status? Well many Puerto Ricans did when the United States invaded it. There were so many issues about the island wanting to be self governed. According to Fernandez, others wanted statehood, while still others adamantly opposed the inclusion of the statehood ideal in any Union platform; to paraphrase one protester, the United States was able to deny Puerto Rico both statehood and self government. That was its right. But it was not able to deny the island its independence because that was a right of the Puerto Rican people (p. 43). Still, until present day the island is indecisive about becoming a state or staying a commonwealth or even being independent. After the Spanish American War Puerto Ricans had more of a decision to make about what they wanted to do with themselves. They weren t under Spanish rule anymore, but inherited the American Government to help with certain affairs, though, cries for help were sometimes ignored. For example, on August 12, 1907, Jose De Diego stopped at Oyster Bay to once again plead for more self government . When the petition was duly filed and, like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Influenza By John Barry The Author of The Great Influenza, John M. Barry, used rhetorical devices to inform the public of how science is about not knowing and figuring out how to prove the suggested idea. The scientists had to deal with uncertainty and manipulating results and experiments to prove their idea, just like Barry used rhetorical devices to manipulate the reader s ideas and thoughts. John M. Barry has written award winning books including the Influenza pandemic of 1918, and the great Mississippi flood. Being invited by 2 presidential administrations, Bush and Obama, to advise on preparedness for pandemics and pandemic response. Having also advised on state, federal, UN and world health organizations on influenza, water disasters, risk communication and crisis management Barry is more than qualified to talk about such a topic considering his past of assisting the world with disaster prevention and response. ... People have to admit that they are uncertain of what could be it is logical appeal because we don t know everything about the world we live in and if we think we do then what is the point of science , innovation, and change? He also mentioned how one scientist makes the trail and other scientists pave the road ahead. Barry was stating that we can t do everything on our own and we have to accept and encourage the help of others. He said scientists that deal with and accept uncertainty may not have the creative capacity to design the experiments to prove or disprove the debated topic. According to the Center for Disease Control, in 2011, the age adjusted death rate for the United States was 740.6 per 100,000 of the population. Presumably, some may consider this a problem when considering the impact on the bereaved. In particular, I wanted to look at families whose loss was contributed to suicide or a drug related death. The CDC also states, with approximately 4600 adolescent suicides each year in the United States, it is the third leading cause of death for that age range. Drug Overdose was the leading cause of injury death in 2010, with it causing more deaths than motor vehicle traffic crashes (CDC Website). Triangles can be defined as an emotional response to some type of anxiety between two people that causes them to reach out to a third party. This third entity is there to provide sympathy and to defuse the anxiety experienced between the other two parties or individuals. In addition to Triangles, Differentiation of Self is another key concept in Bowen s Theory. This is when an individual has the ability to separate themselves in two ways, intellectually and emotionally. People who have differentiated themselves from his or her family of origin, reacts to situations intellectually instead of emotionally. Multigenerational Emotional Processes, originally called undifferentiated family ego mass, is a word that describes a family who is very emotionally reactive. As individuals, who we attach ourselves to, and how we deal with pressures of life are greatly affected, when the undifferentiated family ego mass goes unchecked. During times of intense and prolonged family tension, the Nuclear Family Emotional System experiences certain behaviors within the four relationship patterns. • 6. The One Child Policy Restricted Citizens Of China The one child policy restricted citizens of China to one child per family. This family planning policy was created in 1980 to help a growing population. The effects of this policy included millions of forced abortions and sterilizations (Wong 2). In 2013, the policy was relaxed because the drop in population created an age gap in China. Also the ratio of males to females became unequal. There were up to 116.9 boys for every 100 girls in China (Luo 2). The old continuity was a one child policyput into place for over thirty years. Change occurred when the policy was relaxed in 2013 to allow more families the opportunity to have more than one child. At its peak in the 1960s, the fertility rate was 5.8 babies for each woman of childbearing age thanks to Mao Zedong s promotion of large families for the sake of the nation. The population ending up exploding and in 1982, a census revealed that the population passed 1 billion. Article 25 of the Constitution of 1982 was formulated to state, The state promotes family planning so that population growth may fit the plans for economic and social development. (China 1). The government in China used this Article to create the family planning policy in order to and fix the sudden population boost. The one child policy restricted families in urban areas to one child and families in rural and pastoral areas to a maximum of two kids. A government issued report from 2001 states that the policy had effectively curbed the rapidly growing population (Luo 1). The government also stated that without the enforcement of this policy the population would have had an extra 330 million people in 2001. To keep this policy in tact over the years, a financial punishment of heavy fines up to $300 were set in place. Although this policy helped stop the population explosion, it created a new crisis: in 15 years more than 400 million [people] over the age of 60 will make a large gap in age groups in China (McKenzie 2). He shows this by making a big deal of how much money she had for herself, the way she always thinks about her kids, and how she feels when she does all the stuff for herself. He portrayed the stereotypical female and mother role very well with Mrs. Sommers. In the story it seemed very odd that Mrs. Sommers had so much money to herself. • 9. Impact Of The Renaissance Change In Modern Europe How the renaissance changed early modern Europe Early modern Europe was an interesting and important time for all of Europe. From 1300 to 1800, many events were set into motion that would forever change Europe, and to extent, the rest of the world. No other event in European history is as recognizable or synonymous with early modern European history than the event simply known as The Renaissance. The Renaissance is most famous for occurring in Italy, and is commonly known as a time in which a cultural rebirth, or awakening occurred. Renaissance Italy is often referred to as The birthplace of the modern world (Butters, 159). The renaissance ushered in a new era of literature, education, arts, religious thinking, culture, economy, and politics in Italy. These new and radical changes quickly spread throughout Europe, as they were revolutionary and very popular. In political change, during the renaissance, figures known as the Signorie brought about change when they overthrew the old republican regime of early modern Italy. The Signorie were lordships that were rules by a single man who then passed on power and leadership to his firstborn son. The Signorie justified their authority with the claim that they provided a stable form of government and social peace, unlike the oligarchic and popular government, especially when the two fought amongst themselves. When it comes to religious practices and cultural change, it could be argued that the renaissance had the biggest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Rain On The Roof Analysis 12079 The most engaging writers will make themselves known through their texts It is indisputable that the most engaging writers are those who reflect upon some of their own deepest feelings throughout their texts and make themselves known to the reader. Janet Frame interweaves her classic cynical style of writing into her poems Rain on the Roof , The Tree and The Chrysalids and explores many of the unspoken, hard truths of humanity. Frame characteristically utilizes language techniques of first person narration, vivid imagery with references to nature and extended metaphors to express her ideas of conformity, guilt, and suffering all of which revolve around the enigmatic side to humanity which often goes untold in literature. Frame ingrains some of her own emotions and experiences into these texts which enables readers to connect to her writing on a personal level and identify more specifically with her disposition. I did not know. I would never have believed that every house I stole contained a jewel. First person narration is an effective technique utilised to make the reader confront the idea of repentance in the poem The Chrysalids . Here, Frame describes a personal experience from her childhood which she now looks back on in shame. We observe her honest emotion as she narrates I feel compassion for the world I robbed . From a more mature perspective, she is able to see the destruction she innocently caused as a child. First person narration is employed again in another one of Frame s poems, Rain on the Roof. Once more, this language technique invites the reader into Frame s world of hardship and affliction and her styleenables readers to feel her seclusion as if it were their own. In this poem, Frame observes the way in which her nephew handles his grief by recapturing the sound of rain falling on the roof . Similar to The Chrysalids, this poem is a retrospective and Frame narrates in a rather blunt and condescending tone. Her distinctive voice shows through as she comments I do not say to him, The heart has its own comfort for grief , symbolising the fact that her nephew must find strength from within to cope with his pain. In both poems, Frame empathises the universal theme of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main feature of the app is that it will route bike riders from their origin to their destination while keeping them on designated bike lanes and trails as much as possible. The service will ask each user what their comfort level is before the route is chosen, and then the algorithm will choose a path that best reflects this comfort level. With a more experienced biker, the service will route them on a more direct path, but that path might include roads that have a higher traffic volume or roads that lack dedicated bike lanes. The more experienced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will allow the roads to be rated on actual users experiences and allow for iteration of the quality of these roads over time. The comfort rating will be dynamic instead of static. In addition to this survey, users can also input the location of specific hazards along bike routes. This includes hazards such as potholes or obstacles in the path, a rough pavement condition, construction, and more. Construction was one of the more prominent issues that arose in our Google Form survey, which makes sense because construction normally occurs at the edges of the roadway, which is where bike lanes are often located. An example of this is seen in Figure 3. Figure 3: Construction blocking a bike lane (Gatoona 2012). It s important to take these obstacles into account when routing bikers, because the hazards will often cause the riders to swerve into traffic, which will not provide for a safe and comfortable biking experience. Sources of Data Initially, the roads will need to be evaluated for their comfort levels so they can be properly matched with bikers that need a certain minimum comfort level. Two methods can be used to assist in this evaluation: Bike Level of Service (BLOS) and Level of Traffic Stress (LTS). These are two different ways of quantifying the comfort levels of the roads for bikers. They include variables such as vehicle volumes, speed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Charles Darwin Contribute To Science It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change, this was said by Charles Darwin, a naturalist who developed the theory of evolution to explain biological change. Almost all things are somehow affected or reshaped entirely by scientific advances. Science plays a huge role in everyone and every things life. There are many scientist who have discovered, helped advance, or even invented incredible things. And in the top 100 influential scientist sits Charles Darwin. Just like any other scientist, his studies open doors to many more. His research and visions of common ancestry revolutionized studies in comparative anatomy, embryology, and taxonomy, and has brought together the basic rule of all biology. But Darwin s innovative idea of the process of evolutionwas received cautiously and remains in the minds of many scientist today. His idea made a huge leap, but there was a missing puzzle piece that was found by scientist Gregor Mendel who figured out that heredity depends on genes. Voyeurism And Fear In The Movie Peeping Tom Helen s blind mother, Mrs. Stephens, in the movie Peeping Tom, plays a crucial role in enticing Michael Powell s major themes of voyeurism and fear, and is the only character who is able to bring a deeper understanding of Mark as a person and the humanity he hides deep within his childhood. Film scholar Linda Williams has observed that silent films in the early 1900 s often portrayed the heroin to be naГЇve and figuratively or even physically blind. This rests on the concept of voyeurism and objectification of women as well as the fact that women exist solely for the purpose to be looked at and are not in the position to see for pleasure themselves. The true satisfaction attained during voyeuristic activities is from the victim being unaware of being watched, making a blind woman an ideal victim for a voyeur because of their inability to detect being watched. Contrarily, Mark utilizes a camera with a mirror and a knife attached to the end of its tripod as a weapon. This weapon is essential for fulfilling his goal of filming his victims in genuine terror as they prepare to be killed. Mark does not kill Mrs. Stephens because even though he prepares to kill her at one point, he realizes that she is unable to watch her own death due to her blindness, thus not contributing to his film and experiment. This shows that Mark is not an ordinary Peeping Tom, and that his voyeurism stems primarily from his childhood and the filmed episodes of his life that his father directed. His perverted acts of voyeurism and violence are for purposes much larger than just his own pleasure. An important quotation in the movie is when Mark asks, Do you know what the most frightening thing in the world is? and he answers himself with, It s fear. This shows Powell s point that fear is manifested by the acknowledgement that fear itself exists. Through Powell s definition of fear Mrs. Stephens is fearless because she is unable to ever see what is coming her way, including Mark or her own death. The fear she is able to perceive comes from the fear of the unknown or the fear that her presumptions that Mark is deeply troubled may be right. On the other hand, Mark wants his victims to fear the coming death and his weapon pointed at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease ,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death, 2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. • 40. Boo Radley Prejudice The definition of the word prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee shows the horrible things prejudice can cause to the people the prejudice is against, including three main characters: Arthur Radley, Atticus Finch and Tom Robinson. To start off, the result of prejudice is seen through Arthur Boo Radley. In the town of Maycomb County, Boo Radley is known of as a beast (or monster) for stabbing his father in the leg while he was making a scrapbook, among other things. Although this was not the best thing he could ve done, no one actually knows if there was a reason for him doing this and the citizens of Maycomb are not letting Arthur show what type of person he actually is. Another hardship containing prejudice at Arthur Radley is between Scout, Jem and Dill. When Dill comes to visit his aunt from Meridian, the three... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, a question is raised: How has President Trump worked to address the issue of race relations in the United States? Unfortunately, it does not seem likely that race relations will improve so as long as Trump remains president. The facts below will prove that Trump has worsened race relations in America, and deepened the justifiable fear of division which many Americans feel. • 42. Persuasive Essay On Home Ownership The American dream is a phrase which evokes a different meaning depending on whom you ask. However, there are some similar concepts that run throughout most interpretations. Most Americans envision being able to live a happy life if they work hard enough. This would most likely include a stable income, fulfilling career, and a place to live. In recent years, I believe the thought of an ideal living situation has evolved. As living costs continue to increase, many Millennials are finding it harder to move out on their own and be able to support themselves. The vision of a big house with a white picket fenceis no longer the ultimate goal, because many young people just don t find it realistic in today s economy. Home ownership is a big deal and comes along with many advantages and freedoms. Being able to own propertyunder your own name is a privilege that not everybody gets. Having a house eliminates many hassles that renters face on a daily basis. Dealing with annoying roommates, tight living quarters, and landlords are no longer a concern once you move into your own house. You have your own privacy and space to call your own and decorate as you want. Many people view buying a house as a superior choice, because it is an asset and goes up in value over the years. On the contrary, when you rent, you are paying monthly just to live in a space that belongs to someone else. Owning your own home also comes with some cons, as does everything else. Aim: To find the concentration of a potato cell cytoplasm compared to sucrose and salt. I mainly was looking to see how concentration of salt/sucrose affects the mass of the potato cores. Prediction/Hypothesis: My prediction is that as the concentration increases, the potato cell will lose more weight. This is because of the osmosis of water particles from the potato cell cytoplasm to the solution, resulting in a loss of weight. As the concentration decreases, the potato will lose less weight until a certain point where the osmosis of particles in and out of the potato cells will be equal. I also predict that as the salt ...
