Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Technology comes from a Greek word “techne”, which means
craft or art .
Educational Technology ”, means it refers to the art or craft of
responding to educational methods and resources for the ultimate
goal of facilitating the learning process.
The organization of this course on educational technology 1 is
based on the broad meaning of educational technology. That’s
why we start this course with a comprehensive understanding of
the term Educational Technology.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Technology refers to all the ways people use their
inventions to satisfy their needs and desires
Educational Technology includes all educational invention
– old and new satisfy our human need to learn
Education Technology is the development, application and
evaluation of systems, techniques and aids to improve the
process of human learning.
Educational technology is a complex , integrated process
involving people , procedures ,ideas ,devices , and
organization for analyzing problems and devising ,
implementing , evaluating and managing solution.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
The effective use of technological tools in learning.
It concerns an array of tools, such as media,
machines, and networking hardware, as well as
considering underlying theoretical perspectives for
their effective application.
It is more than instructional technology in the same
way than education is more than instruction.
Plays an important role in improving the
educational skills and knowledge of people.
Technology contributes much to the improvement
of the teaching-learning process and to the
humanization of life.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Great help for teachers since they can already
enhance their teaching skills and strategies
every time the are facing their class.
Technology is very essential for both the
students and the teacher but there are some
instances wherein this technology is seen to be
disadvantageous for both of them as well.
TECHNOLOGY is BOON or BANE to
EDUCATION
 Technology is a boon or bane to
education , a blessing or a curse to
education.
 Technology is a blessing for man .With
technology , there is a lot that we can do
which we could not do then.
 When not used properly, technology it
becomes a detriment to learning and
development.
Technology is bane
 When the learners made to accept as gospel
truth information they get from the internet.
 When learners surfs the internet for
pornography.
 When the TV makes the learners mere spectator
not an active participant in the drama of life.
 When the learners get glued to his computer for
computer assisted instruction unmindful of the
world and so fails to develop the ability to relate
to others.
 When learners overused and abuse TV or film
viewing as a strategy to kill time.
Learning through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
I learned about the history of educational
technology . It’s not just the history but also the
meaning and the significance of technology in
learning.
 I also learned to accept critics ,react or comments
on one’s presentation. In order for me to have the
thumb yes of my audience I have to present my
work clearly and perfectly.
I must be ready and would share everything I
know
I can use this when I will finish my course and in
applying for a job. I will not abuse my learnings
just to have some temporary satisfactions
Learning through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
 Educational technology 1 and 2 is concerned with
“Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning.”
Specifically this is focused on introducing, reinforcing,
supplementing and extending the knowledge and
skills to learners so that they can become exemplary
users of educational technology.
 Mainly directed to student teachers, also professional
teachers who may wish to update their knowledge of
educational technology, it is our goal that this course
can help our target learners to weave technology in
teaching with software (computer programmed
learning materials) becoming a natural extension of
their learning tools.
Learning through Edtech 1
and 2
 To provide education in the use of technology in instruction by
providing knowledge and skills on technology integration-in-
instruction to learners.
 To impart learning experiences in instructional technology-
supported instructional planning.
 To acquaint students on information technology or IT- related
learning theories with the computer as a tutor.
 To learn to use and evaluate computer-based educational
resources
To engage learners on practical technology integration issues
including managing IT classrooms, use of the internet for
learning, cooperative learning through the use of information
technology, etc.
 To inculcate higher level thinking and creativity among students
while providing them knowledge of IT-related learning theories
Learning through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
Learners at the present time are called 21st
century learners because technology is
incorporated in the teaching and learning
process.
 Technology is a device and a guide for
teachers in teaching their students in learning
process, and teachers should be aware what
are the advantages and disadvantages of using
technology in the teaching process.
Technology advances show people a more efficient way to do
things, and these processes get results. For example,
education has been greatly advanced by the technological
advances of computers. Students are able to learn on a
global scale without ever leaving their classrooms.
Agricultural processes that once required dozens upon
dozens of human workers can now be automated, thanks to
advances in technology, which means cost-efficiency for
farmers. Medical discoveries occur at a much more rapid
rate, thanks to machines and computers that aid in the
research process and allow for more intense educational
research into medical matters.
Advantage of Technology
Disadvantage of Technology:
Dependency
The more advanced society becomes
technologically, the more people begin to depend
on computers and other forms of technology for
everyday existence. This means that when a
machine breaks or a computer crashes, humans
become almost disabled until the problem is
resolved. This kind of dependency on technology
puts people at a distinct disadvantage, because
they become less self-reliant.
The Student after Edtech
Technology plays an important role in the
study habits and skills of the students. But, we
need to make sure that we are going to be
very careful in allowing our students to use the
computer and surf the internet for them to
avoid discovering things that are not part of
their studies. It is always important to let them
used some of these technology in education as
often as it is in order to prevent forgetting the
basic way studying.

without social advance , there is ,
almost automatically , an increase
of human misery “ Michael
Harrington
“ All our technology progress our
very civilization , is like the axe in
the hand of the pathological
criminal “. Albert Einstein
