This document discusses research into the relationship between Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCPT) values and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values for different soils. The researchers conducted DCPT and CBR tests on clayey, sandy, and silty soils with varying moisture contents and compaction densities. Previous studies found direct linear relationships between DCPT and CBR values that depend on soil properties. The goal of this study is to determine the DCPT-CBR relationship for different soils and examine the effect of moisture and compaction. Establishing a reliable DCPT-CBR correlation could provide a quicker and cheaper way to estimate soil strength for pavement design.

Need of strength parameters of subgrade soils is very important in monitoring and evaluation of roads and runways subgrade quality. Laboratory determination of California Bearing Ratio useful for flexible pavement design, Coefficient of subgrade reaction K-Value needed for rigid pavement, raft footing and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) is required for determination of shear strength parameter of subgrade are time consuming and demand significant effort but mandatory. Dynamic Cone Penetration test can be a faster and easier way to evaluate subgrade strength. In present study an investigation has been carried out on strength parameters for the soil from various locations of Gujarat, In-situ condition has been created in laboratory using bigger testing mould and various tests like Liquid Limit, Plastic limit as well as CBR, PBT, UCS and DCP were carried out on repetitive samples of Maximum Dry Densities achieved through modified proctor effect in soaked condition. The empirical correlations have been established among test results using linear regression procedure. The formulations are validated using other sets of tests data. The developed empirical correlations may be useful to estimate time consuming strength parameters as well as physical properties at numerous locations within area under consideration using simple and rapid DCP test. An Experimental Study on strength behavior of Pavement using jute geo textile IJERA Editor
This experimental investigation studies the benefits of reinforcing the various sub grade soils in flexible pavement. Three types of soils A, B and C and a particular type of Jute geo textile material were selected for the study. Fundamental properties of soils like specific gravity, liquid limit, plastic limit and optimum moisture content were determined on unreinforced soils; California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test and Unconfined Compression (UCC) Strength test were also conducted on unreinforced and reinforced soils. The optimum quantity of jute geo textile was arrived based on the results from CBR test, other parameters such as modulus of elasticity and failure stress were ascertained from the results of UCC test. Using the optimum geo textile content, the thickness of pavement required over the three types of sub grade soils with and without reinforcement was determined based on the guidelines specified in IRC 37-2001. A comparative analysis was carried out to identify the economy in the material due to the effect of reinforcing the soils with jute geo textile. Subsequently cost benefit analysis of reinforced and unreinforced pavement was also done to ascertain the economic viability of fibre material. From the result analysis it was observed there is a significant material save of about 25% per every km of pavement

Abstract In all kinds of earthwork constructions, the laboratory determination of the compaction characteristics of the soils plays an important role. Soil compaction is defined as the method of increasing the density of the soil by application of mechanical energy. The principal reason for the compaction of the soil is to produce a soil mass which can satisfy the three basic criteria. Firstly, the reduction of subsequent settlement of the soil mass, under working loads. Secondly, for the reduction in permeability which will subsequently avoid built up of large water pressures causing liquefaction problems and is also important for retaining water in case of earth dams. Thirdly, it is used for increasing the shear strength of the soils. But the determination of compaction characteristics in laboratory is laborious. It requires significant time and effort. Hence, there is a necessity for prediction of compaction characteristics with the help of correlating it with index properties of soil which can be determined easily. The plastic limit of soil can be found effortlessly and it bears a good correlation with compaction characteristic, namely optimum moisture content (OMC). In this paper, a study is conducted on nine types of fine grained soils like black cotton soil, red clay, china clay, marine clay, silty clay etc. collected from different parts of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. And a simple equation has been suggested using regression analysis to obtain the optimum moisture content of a soil from the plastic limit, thereby eliminating the dependence of the proctor test for determination of OMC. Abstract Soft subgrade soil poses challenge for construction of pavements. These soft subgrade soils have a tendency to absorb high moisture content and exhibit high compressibility. Under loads. Among notable properties plasticity index is a reliable property as listed in literature for identifying these soft soil and nature of compressibility. Soil stabilization is one of the techniques listed in literature for improving these soft soils. Often the stabilization suffers due to high cost particularly improving deep deposits of soft soil and time consuming. . Providing stiff layer with gravelly soil can solve the problem to majority extent. These gravelly layer of soils bear the load and distribute through arch action, to, minimize the stresses to soft soil. .However the efficiency of these gravely layer depends on their relative thickness and prevention from mixing with soft subsoil. This paper discusses the efficacy of overlying aggregate to improve CBR values of soft subgrade in the presence of separator geotextile. The thickness of aggregate is varied and expressed by Hr (a fraction to soil thickness given as Ha/Hs.). Laboratory CBR tests are conducted on four subgrade types with varying in plasticity & fines content overlying with gravelly aggregate with Hr varied from 0, to 0.5 in increments of 0.1.It is observed that PI, Hr and fines content effect CBR. The influence is more pronounced with Plasticity and percent fines. Also the increase (%) is marginal for samples with high Hr. the present studies, an attempt has been made to identify the strength and thickness of different pavement layers of newly constructed
low volume roads in the State of Karnataka, India using dynamic cone penetration studies and was compared with actual
measurements at the site. The evaluation of pavement test stretches was made for a period of two years, and changes in penetration
resistance of different pavement layers were measured. A Software was used to analyze the DCP data and to correlate with field
observation. The results have favoured the possibility of using dynamic cone penetrometer as a quality control and pavement
monitoring tool for low volume roads, eliminating the need for a Benkelman beam or a falling weight deflectometer.

Abstract
In the flexible pavements sub-grade is considered to be an ideal layer to resist wheel load and its CBR value is considered as the strength measuring parameter. Conducting CBR test is an expensive and time consuming test, moreover it is very difficult to mould the sample at a desired in-situ density in the laboratory. Further, if the available soil is of poor quality, suitable additives are mixed with soil and resulting strength of soil is assessed by CBR value which is cumbersome. To overcome these problems, the other methods such as regression based models (simple & multiple) are used in this study. The soil properties like liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index, optimum moisture content, maximum dry density and percentage fineness of the soil (passing 75micron sieve) are determined for the soil collected from different areas of Bagalkot district and the models are developed for correlating soaked CBR value.

The subbase/base thickness of pavement is governed by the CBR value of the subgrade soil along with some other parameters such as traffic intensity, climatic conditions, etc. Dynamic cone penetration test (DCPT) value conducted in the field can be used to estimate the CBR value provided a suitable relationship exists between CBR and DCPT value.

Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
