A Study on Life Satisfaction of Disability Peopleijtsrd
Disability has a major impact on daily life and satisfaction in the activities of daily life, such as motor function, defecation, urination, bathing, and moving. Recently, the disability paradigm has gradually emphasized environmental factors and, changes have resulted, such as deinstitutionalization, the spread of independent living for persons with disabilities, and an increase in the desire for social participation. However, negative perceptions and attitudes toward persons with disabilities remain because of low expectations for their achievements and the tendency that they perceive themselves to be potentially rejected by society, which reduces their social participation. Social participation indicates participation in the interweaving of occupations to support desired engagement in community and family activities as well as those involving peers and friends that support social interdependence. This study conclude that 48.3 of respondents are moderate level of life satisfaction of disability people, 33.3 of the respondents are low level of life satisfaction of disability people and 18.4 of the respondents are high level of life satisfaction of disability people. Nursing students face numerous stresses and challenges that pose threat to their well-being. They require guidance in order to attain satisfactory adjustment in all aspects of daily life in this critical stage of their development. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the guidance needs of nursing students in selected schools in Iloilo City. The sample of this descriptive, comparative study consisted of 283 randomly selected students from four nursing schools in Iloilo City. The Guidance Needs Inventory for Nursing Students (GNINS) developed by the researchers was used to gather data. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, and rank were used to describe the data. Independent Samples t-Test and ANOVA set at 0.05 alpha were employed to find out significant differences between variables. The study revealed that nursing students need guidance to a moderate extent. They need more guidance on the aspects of career and academic. Further, results indicated no significant differences in the guidance needs of nursing students when grouped according to sex, gender, year level, residence, type of school, living arrangement, employment status of parents, monthly family income, number of siblings, birth order and type of family. Guidance remains to be an integral part of nursing education. Continued provision of guidance responsive and relevant to the needs of nursing student cohort is therefore necessary.

Home-based care strategies provided by family members that give life satisfac...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT :
Introduction:Homebased care has been widely researched but very few studies has been done on the effects
it has on life satisfaction of the elderly in sub-Sahara Africa, particularly DRC Congo. An effective homebased care has the potential to impact the health system together with the recipients of the care and their
families.
Methods:Mixed-method approach was used in this study which integrated both qualitative and quantitative
methods. 25 elderly people from 65 and aboveyearsweresampled for the IDI interviews and 2
FGDswerecarried out with 7 participants each.
Results:Majority of the respondents were satisfied with living with their families who were able to take care
of them and share their ideas. However, one of the majorweaknesses they faced were lack of basic needs like
food and shelter. The elderly people are also getting limited opportunities from their family members because
they have limited support from the government.
Conclusion:Home-based care is an important aspect in the life satisfaction of the elderly. Life satisfaction of
the elderly was linked to emotional, financial, spiritual, social and physical support from family members
despite the medical conditions and harsh economic situation.

A Structured Peer-Mentoring Method for
Physical Activity Behavior Change Among
Adolescents
Laureen H. Smith, PhD, RN1, and Rick L. Petosa, PhD2
Abstract
Despite national guidelines for regular physical activity, most adolescents are not physically active. Schools serve an estimated
60 million youth and provide an educational environment to meet the current physical activity guidelines. The obesity epidemic
and chronic disease comorbidities associated with physical inactivity are not likely to be reversed without a strong contri-
bution from local schools. This article describes how a structured peer-mentoring method provides a feasible, flexible, and
tailored means to meet the current guidelines for best practice in a school setting. Structured peer mentoring using trained
high school mentors to support behavior change in younger peers is an innovative method to meeting the School Health
Guidelines to Promote Healthy Eating and Physical Activity. Through structured peer mentoring, adolescents are provided con-
sistent social support in a caring and personalized manner. This support builds skills and competencies enhancing self-efficacy
to sustain a lifetime of physical activity behavior.

Despite national guidelines for regular physical activity,
most adolescents are not physically active (Centers for Dis-
ease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2011). Current guide-
lines and scientific evidence for best practices to prevent
obesity and obesity comorbidities such as heart disease, can-
cers, and diabetes recommend at least 60 min of moderate to
vigorous daily physical activity (CDC, 2011; Institute of
Medicine, 2012). A review of 50 studies focused on youth
concluded that regular physical activity improves academic
achievement, academic behavior, and cognitive skills
including concentration and memory (CDC, 2010). Despite
these health and academic benefits, recent data suggest that
only 27% of high school students reported 60 min of daily
physical activity every day during the past week, while 14%
reported no physical activity in the past week, and less than
half (48%) of high school students attend any physical edu-
cation classes in the average week (CDC, 2010, 2013).
These data indicate that most adolescents are not meeting
the recommended daily physical activity guidelines. With
one in three school-aged youth currently overweight or
obese (Ogden, Carroll, Kit, & Flegal, 2014), obesity preven-
tion through improving physical activity is a top priority
(American Academy of Pediatrics, 2006; U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services [USDHHS], 2008).
Schools serve an estimated 60 million youth and provide
a critical setting to build the foundation of skills needed to
help youth meet the current physical activity guidelines

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

10. Study subjects- All (i.e. 210) physically disabled diploma stream students, in the age group 15 years and above, present at the time of data collection were taken as study subjects. The social classification was done according to modified B. G. Prasad (AICPI, April 2010 ). Data was collected by interview method using a predesigned & pretested Questionnaire.

15. Table- 5Distribution of physically disabled students according to social support (N=210) (multiple response)
18. It was seen that maximum 90.95% of the physically disabled students were getting community support, whereas this percentage was 87.14% in case of sibling and friends. It was lowest 79.68% in case of parents. It may be explained by the fact that parents are most directly affected by the disability of their wards.
19. It was observed that, still a significant percentage of physically disabled students are not getting positive social support.
