1) The study assessed feeding practices of infants and young children aged 0-24 months in a peri-urban area of India. 2) Various WHO indicators were used to evaluate rates of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding under 6 months, continued breastfeeding from 12-15 months, and introduction of solid foods from 6-8 months. 3) The results found that 56.4% of children were put to the breast within 1 hour of birth, 37% of infants were exclusively breastfed, continued breastfeeding was found in 70% of children aged 12-15 months, and 36% of infants were introduced to solid foods at the appropriate time between 6-8 months.
