Primary Cellular Observation
1. Distinguish among primary circular reactions, secondary circular reactions, and tertiary circular
reactions. The primary circular reaction is the focus on the infant s own body rather than on the
external environment, it usually lasts from one to four months of age. Whereas secondary circular
reaction is where the patterns of activity are repeated because of the effect on the environment, this
stage lasts from four to eight months. The tertiary circular reaction is the purposeful adaptations of
established schemes to specific situations. This stage last from 12 to 18 months. 2. According to

The Pathophysiology Of Muscles
The word muscle has its origins in the Latin word musculus which means little mouse . The
terminology became popular as the movement of certain muscles, most notably biceps, was thought to
be reminiscent of a mouse moving beneath a rug. Another explanation is that at the anatomical level,
some muscles look like mice. This holds true especially for muscles with long, thin tendons that
resemble a mouse s tail.
Muscles are specialized contractile tissues responsible for motility, a feature that is a distinguishing
characteristic between the plant and animal kingdoms; and are responsible for most physiological
processes in higher animals like blood circulation, contractions of the heart, involuntary peristaltic
movements of the gut, respiration, voluntary body movements, maintenance of posture, gait and facial
expressions. How a single tissue performs such varied functions can be attributed to the distinct
mechanical, contractile, structural and electrophysiological properties that are acquired by each
muscle type during the course of development. The two broad classes of muscle fibres are striated
(cardiac and skeletal) and non striated (smooth) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Analysis Of Medea And The King Of Corinth
Throughout the play, Medea, Medea proves that knowledge can destroy. She is surrounded by
powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her
husband. She shows that physical power may not be the ultimate power that one may have, but that
intellectual power can destroy what one may hold close to them. In the play, Kreon, the king of
Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medea s husband, values
his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him great
happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to manipulate and
cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. This eventually causes the murder of
royalty as well as Jason and Medea s sons. Little does Jason know that the revenge Medea takes on
him is total, as his sons, which are his legacy, are dead. Also, no one would want to marry Jason
because Medea s on the loose, and can go after any woman that would pursue Jason. As Medea said,
For those children [Jason] had from me he will never see alive again, nor will he on his new bride
beget another child, for she is to be forced to die a most terrible death by these my poisons. Let no one
think me a weak one, feeble spirited, a stay at home, but rather just the opposite, one who can hurt my
enemies and help my friends (Medea, 787 793). As one can see, Medea does not take the fact that

Women Contribute to World War 1
How Did Women Contribute To World War 1
By: Jeff M. Lerio
History 30
Mrs. C. Lenz Fabian
Nov.19,2012
A Canadian woman plays an important role and contributions on the home front during the war years.
They supported our country s war efforts not only in traditional roles, but also in unprecedented new
ways. Women in this era are said to be the toughest one, they endure all pains and suffering just to be
heard and express their thoughts. During World War 1, women roll up their sleeves and took a wide
variety of civilian job that once is filled by men. Canada s contributions during the war years would
have been very different if it were not for the vital roles women played on the home front. All of this
effort, pains and sufferings of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were faced with the reality that they had to maintain the family farm themselves, as well as raise
the children, while the husbands, sons and hired laborers were off at war. With their sons overseas,
many farm women had to take on extra work. One Alberta mother of nine sons all of them either in the
army or away working in factories drove the tractor, plowed the fields, put up hay, and hauled grain to
elevators, along with tending her garden, raising chickens, pigs and turkeys, and canning hundreds of
jars of fruits and vegetables. There was no uniform for the farmerettes, but the young women who
volunteered their services learned to wear loose fitting dressings to accommodate the heavy labor
involved in working the land and broad brimmed hats to protect against the sun. In 1918, 2,400
women served as farmerettes and assisted fruit farmers in the Niagara region. Many farm workers
enlisted in the army, and if Canada was going to produce enough food, labourers had to be found.
Farm work, promoted as a paying job, infact became a drain on the financial resources of many
women the pay was usually $4 a week. Many men left their civilian jobs to fight for their country
during the First World War. These jobs needed to be filled and women quickly stepped forward to
meet the surging demand for workers in a greatly expanding Canadian wartime economy. Almost a
million of women employed in different kind of jobs traditionally for male. Initially, there was a

John Stuart Mill’s Explanation of the Harm Principle
John Stuart Mill s explanation of the harm principle is not as useful as once believed. Although the
harm principle does in fact have some logic, it fails to set clear and concise borders regarding what
denotes allowable hate speech. The harm principle essentially states that all speech, including hate
speech, should be allowed. However, speech that causes a definable harm must be censored. For
example, merely offensive speech is allowed; however, the context of the offensive speech in question
is important in understanding when to apply Mill s harm principle. The principle has some major
flaws, as Mill does not take into consideration the numerous factors that must be examined before
deciding whether or not to apply the principle, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if a critique is meaningless, Mill argues that we did our best at attempting to ensure the validity
of a claim. We should therefore study all modes and perspectives in which something can be looked
at, since our knowledge base depends on subjecting ourselves to alternative viewpoints to know the
truth about something. The disagreement and contestation that potentially occurs is what leads to the
truth. Furthermore, contrary to the beliefs of certain monarchs during his time, Mill argued that human
beings are not infallible; therefore, we can never be certain that anything is definite, because we are
not in a position to be judges of certainty (Cahn 443). The usefulness of an opinion is subjective and
open to discussion, and due to the fallibility of humans, no individual has the right to stifle the opinion
of another, for we can never be certain we are stifling a false opinion (Cahn 461). Even our truest
convictions must be tested, Mill argues, because even they can be partly mistaken. However, it may in
fact be that our convictions are logical and valid. Mill asserts that even then we must subject ourselves
to critics and alternative viewpoints; only then can our convictions become vivid in our mind and
character. If our beliefs are not tested, they will become robotic and lifeless. Further, Mill argues that
we must not think in black and white, for different positions have value in them and since we are not
judges of what is

Twitter In Presidential Elections
The introduction of media has significantly impacted the way candidates campaign during the United
States presidential debate cycles. While mainstream media outlets (i.e. televised newscasts, radio
broadcasts) have played an important role in providing live coverage of events in which candidates
spoke about their platforms, the purpose of the media was completely altered with the introduction of
social media, specifically Twitter. While journalism was meant to be an unbiased practice, Twitter and
other social media sites have taken on the role of a biased news source, forever changing presidential
elections in the process.
Founded in 2006, Twitter quickly became a prominent figure in the social media sphere, boasting

While there has been a lot of negative feedback from the results of the election, both campaigns
should see social media platforms, particularly Twitter, as a catalyst for future change. The use of
social media during the 2016 election has granted several candidates, not just the major party
candidates, plenty of media exposure to a differentiated group of voters. Additionally, social media
grants candidates more time to directly communicate with voters on issues that they are particularly
passionate about. Furthermore, candidates have the opportunity to use feedback from social media
sites to predict future winners of the popular vote well before the election. The millennial
demographic has not held back with their opinions on issues and the results of the election; therefore,
candidates and their campaign teams should take social media and the information it provides into
serious consideration when partaking in such large scale

The colonists of the Chesapeake Bay region, on the other hand, led harder lives compared to that of
the colonists of New England. The Chesapeake Bay had an unhealthy environment, bad eating diets,
and intolerable labor.
The colonists had different reasons for settling in these two distinct regions. The New England region
was a more religiously strict yet diverse area compared to that of the Chesapeake Bay. The
development of religion in the two regions came from separate roots. After Henry VIII and the Roman
Catholic Church broke away from each other, a new group of English reformers was created called the
Puritans. The Puritans came from protestant backgrounds, after being influenced by Calvinistic ideas.
When their reforms were thwarted by King James I of England, they fled to the New World in what is
now known as the Great Migration . The Puritans were then joined by Quakers, Protestants, and
Catholics in the religiously diverse New England area. These diverse religious factions were allowed
to live freely but under the laws of New England. It was due to this religious freedom that these
people came to escape religious persecution back home. The New Englanders had a religion based
society and religion was based on family. As the Bible highly regarded family, it condemned adultery.

Jane Liebschutz Analysis
Doctor s Diaries showed the difficult and challenging life of doctors and how they can affect the
doctor s personal life and professional job. While watching the video, there were two occurrences that
stood out to me the most. The first example was the emotional connection a doctor can have with a
patient, and the second example was the difficulty of getting patients to open up to the doctors In the
first example, Dr. Jane Liebschutz became emotionally connected to an elderly patient who was
having surgery for the first time. The surgery involved removing some vein from the leg, some vessels
in the chest wall, and connecting them to the coronary arteries, which will help pump blood to his
heart. Before the surgery, Dr. Liebschutz met with the patient and talked with him, reassuring him that
the surgery would go well. Within six hours of performing the surgery, the patient s heart had failed
and he passed away. Getting emotional, Dr. Liebschutz cried because she had never connected with a
patient who suddenly passed away while having surgery. Especially with a patient who passed away in
front of her while she help assist during the surgery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a doctor loses a patient that they have become emotionally connected with, it can make their

about the loss and sometimes even explaining to them why things happen the way they did. They also
have the workload of continuing their daily routine work without letting their emotions mix in with
their job as they see other patients. This, I find, is a challenging task to do because a doctor has to do
their best to not let their emotions influence their work and those around them as

Essay On What I Value As An American
What do I value as an American? What is America to me? I sit and I reread the same the sentences

the greatest countries, but it can also be a place where equality and respect is not as valued as it should
be. I see America differently than any other person can see it. I have my own thoughts, feelings, and
experiences that shape my perception of the country I live in. Safety. That s what comes to mind when
I think of something I value as an American. I watch the news every night and see families grieving
over their black men. Black men like my father, black men like my brothers will grow to be. Watching
these families remind me that the man who just had car troubles, could have easily been my father or

Historical Trends Of Human Service Policy
Historical Trends in Human Service Policy In the context of human service, the current practice of
social welfare in Europe and America is a product of evolutionary change. The social welfare structure
in countries such as Canada, France, and the United States draw from English social welfare policies
that created foundational structures of current social welfare practice. The practice of social welfare
traces back to English heritage spanning back to a time when English policies operated in British
colonies (Guest, 1997). English policies such as the Elizabethan Poor Laws of 1594 and 1601 and the
1662 Law of Settlement and Removal defined human service and social welfare in England and her
colonies (Ascoli Cnaan, 1997). In the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the paper also analyzes the net gains and losses of these trends to the society. One of the
profound historical trends in regards to human service was the English poor laws that governed the
treatment of the poor. Following the enactment of the Elizabethan poor laws in 1601, the English
embarked on an entirely new approach of dealing with the poor in the society. While the poor laws
appeared harsh in England and colonial in English colonies, these laws defined policies that
spearheaded action in human service in regards to the treatment of the poor in society. Essentially, the
concepts, ideologies, policies, approaches, and discourse provided by the pool laws defined a human
service structure that still informs the current practice of social welfare (Carniol, 2005). Prior to the
Elizabethan poor laws, the practice of social welfare consisted of voluntary subscription to a poor
relief fund by the poor coupled with the use of harsh punishment to discourage vagabonds and beggars
(Guest, 1997). This practice related to a general assumption that paupers or rather the poor suffered
from moral deficiency that render them poor and dependent (Hasenfeld Garrow, 2012). In this regard,
the treatment of the poor was most often than not harsh. The Elizabethan poor laws however ushered
in a new dispensation that resumed full public responsibility for the poor and the destitute in the
society. The establishment of a public tax supported system aimed at providing

Pharma Company has also entered into irrevocable contracts that will affect the restructuring plan over
the next 18 months. In addition, the cost to dismantle the existing manufacturing operation is
estimated at $1 million but has yet to be finalized. Though Pharma Company is under no legal
obligation to perform the dismantling (and have not done so during past restructuring plans) they have
stated their plans to dismantle the Bellvue facility in a press release.
Issues
Several issues arise for Pharma Company as a result of their planned relocation. The main issue is
whether or not to record a restructuring provision for the relocation plan under both IFRSs and U.S.
GAAP. The subsequent issues are which of the incurred costs should be included in the possible
restructuring provision and when they should be accrued under both IFRSs and U.S. GAAP. These
include deciding on whether to recognize (1) the lease termination liability, (2) the one time
termination benefit liability, (3) the $500,000 cost of relocation, $1.5 million staff training, and any
irrevocable contract costs, as well as (4) any dismantling costs for the year ended December 31, 2011.
Brief Overview of Conclusions
After review of the primary issue it has been discovered that (in accordance with both U.S. GAAP and
IFRSs guidelines) Pharma Company s plan to relocate its manufacturing operation meets the criteria

Abstract: In wireless sensor network, sensor nodes have limited power back up. So, the main issue is
to increase the network lifetime. The multi chain concept in PEGASIS and sink mobility increases the
network lifetime in wireless sensor network. In this research paper, we have proposed a revised multi
chain PEGASIS protocol by revising the position of the mobile sink to maximize the network lifetime.
The simulation is done in MATLAB R2008a and results are compared with MIEEPB (Mobile sink
improved energy efficient PEGASIS based routing protocol). Also, we have simulated revised multi
chain PEGASIS according to standard assumptions and results are shown satisfactory.
Keywords: multi chain PEGASIS, revised MIEEPB, sink mobility, energy efficient
1. Introduction
In many application areas, the wireless sensor network must be able to operate for long periods of
time, and the energy consumption of both individual sensor nodes and the sensor network as a whole
is most important. Thus energy consumption is an important issue for wireless sensor networks. Figure

Accurate Timekeeping At Sea
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries clock making was a vital European technology, and
London was at its cutting edge. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one problem in
particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed perfectly still but
not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship. If you wanted to sail, it
was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can t tell the time, you don t how
far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude your distance north or south of the
equator by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at noon; but this won t let you calculate
longitude your position east or west.
The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth century
by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling the time in
spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship. This made it
possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its chronometer would
be set to the local time in harbor for the British this was usually Greenwich. You would then compare
the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed by the Sun. The difference
between the two times gave you your longitude. For the twenty four hours in the day, every hour the
Sun moves across the sky that

Result Analysis Of Aspirin
Introduction
Aspirin is a widely name used to refer to a chemical compound known as acetylsalicylic acid. It is
commonly used as a pain killer. Salicylic acid is extracted from the bark of willow plant. In the past,
the bark willow plant was used as the remedies for tonics and headache. Currently, salicylic acid is
administered to patients in aspirin form which is less irritating to the stomach as compared to salicylic
acid. Aspirin is synthesised by reacting excess acetic anhydride with the salicylic acid. During its
synthesis a small quantity of a strong acid is used as a catalyst. Strong phosphoric acid was used as a
catalyst in this experiment. The excess acetic acid was quenched by addition of water. Beer s law

The Testament Of The Ephesians
Paul, who is the author of Ephesians, is writing to the church in Ephesus and possibly surrounding
Asia minor cities. He wrote the book of Ephesians sometime between AD 60 62 when he was
imprisoned in Rome (3:1, 4:1, 6:20). The letter was taken to Ephesus by Tychicus (vs 6:21 22). Paul
knew that the Christians in Ephesus and the surrounding towns were growing and had heard about
their faith so he addresses the Ephesians as a corporate body (Hultgren, 2015). At the time, Ephesus
was a thriving city and the capitol of the providence of Asia. It was a city that was strategically located
to encourage trade routes that would attract people from all over. Today, Ephesus ruins are located in

Context Literary: Most of Paul s letters are written as expositions which are carefully reasoned
explanations of his letter and well thought out words that are crucially placed to build agreement and
action among the people (Hendricks and Hendricks, 2007, p. 224). However, this particular passage of
Ephesians 3: 14 21 is a prayer among his exposition.
Right before this passage, Paul pleads with the Ephesians that the church needs to be made known of
the authorities in the heavenly places (Ephesians 3:10) so that they may have confidence in their faith
(vs 12). Paul starts verse 14 with For this reason showing his readers that this is why he is adding a

He starts the prayer out with Praise to the Father with words such as I bow my knees before the Father

prayer in verse 17 with words such as so that . In verses 17 19 he tells us the purpose which is three
fold: that Christ may dwell in our hearts, to know the love of Christ, and to be filled with fullness of
God. In verse 20 he goes back to talking about God s great power and in verse 21 he closes the prayer

Information to Those Who Would Remove to America Essay
Information to those who would remove to America
By: Benjamin Franklin
At a time of hardship and human progression in North America especially in the 1700 s one name
specifically shines out amongst all others. That name is Benjamin Franklin; a visionary inventor,
politician, and true American hero. In the late 1700 s, precisely 1784, Benjamin Franklin wrote an
informative essay titled, Information to Those Who Would Remove to America. It was printed out as a
pamphlet for people in Europe to clarify the endless rumors about America being the land of dreams
and fantasy. He clearly states what s needed and wanted in America, and what s not welcomed there.
The essay also shows us how American culture is portrayed and what they hold ... Show more content

3. Strangers of Birth must be greatly respected, and of course easily obtain the best of those Offices
and Of civil Offices or Employments there are few; no superfluous Ones as in Europe; The third
rumor was to put to rest, the fact that you were born into nobility, doesn t mean we ll hire you to work
in our government. Also, there were so many offices in America waiting to be filled this was false. In
a way, Franklin was almost mocking the Europeans on how they have so many people doing useless
things, and not just have a few good men doing the country s job.
4. But give land gratis to Strangers, with Negroes to work for them, Utensils of Husbandry, Stocks of
Cattle. Finally, many people in Europe believed that if you were to move to America, the government
will give you land, free transportation from Europe to America, negroes that will work for you, and
farming needs such as tools and livestock. It was a firm belief in America that hard work was valued,
perhaps that was something passed on from the Puritans. People who migrated there had to work hard,
it wasn t a red carpet waiting for you there; but a clean slate where you can start from scratch and
build your own dreams and aspirations. From reading Ben Franklin s essay, it tells us a lot about who
he was, and how America was at the time. He felt that it was needed to refute the rumors and give
evidences about everything he wrote about. They also had different terminologies and ideals from

Sexual Masochism Disorder
Sexual Masochism Disorder I found the inclusion of sexual masochism disorder (and sexual sadism
disorder) in the DSM 5 interesting and outdated. Sexual Masochism Disorder is a Paraphilic Disorder
which is defined as recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors generally
involving i) non human objects, ii) the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one s partner, or iii)
children or other non consenting persons that occur over a period of at least 6 months with a proposed
new definition of any powerful and persistent sexual interest other than sexual interest in copulatory or
pre copulatory behavior with phenotypically normal, consenting adult human partners. (DSM 5) The

I know that my proclivity toward dangerous sex can be precarious and even perilous with an untrained
partner but I am careful to choose partners that are well versed in the art of sadism, as are most
masochists. While I do suffer from mental health diagnoses of Anxiety and Depression, I have never
been diagnosed with SMD, or another Paraphilia based disorder. I do believe that for most people who
practice or seek out dangerous sex it is because of the thrill of participating in deviant behavior. It is
no surprise to me that 4.6% of women have reported enjoying pain in a sexual experience, and 30 50%
of women fantasize about. Based on the information I gathered in regards to Paraphilia and Paraphilia
Disorders it does seem fitting that sexual sadism disorder and sexual masochism disorder be changed
to paraphilia behaviors, if not entirely removed. It seems that if these disorders are changed, and there
is no longer the fear of criminal charges or medicalization of said sexual behaviors, there is a higher
likelihood that those who participate in said behaviors will come forward and seek help if they do feel
disturbed or the behavior is interfering with their daily

sixteen Mary ran away and got married to poet Percy Bysshe Shelley who was twenty one but there
was only one problem he was married. She was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England. Mary
Shelley was a reflection of her parents. Her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, published the classic
manifesto of sexual equality, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792. Her father, William

one of the most famous novels ever published. Embodying one of the central myths of Western
culture, Frankenstein first published in 1818, tells the story of an overreacher who brings to life the
monster who inhabits one s dreams, a tale which still stands as a powerful and enduring example of
the creative imagination. She wrote the novels while facing difficulties series in her life but the worst
was when her half sister, Fanny Imlay committing suicides. And she was overwhelmed when Percy ex

marriage. Their marriage was riddled with adultery and heartache, including the death of her two
children. By her third pregnancy she gave birth to a son born in 1819, their son was named Percy
Florence, he was the only child to live to adulthood. Mary s life was rocked again by another tragedy
in 1822 when her husband Percy drowned in a boating accident. He was out sailing with a friend in

Auditing the Revenue Cycle
|Learning Check |
The revenue cycle includes the activities involved in the exchange of goods and services with
customers and the realization of the revenue in cash.
The classes of transactions in this cycle for a merchandising company are sales, sales adjustments, and
cash receipts. The primary accounts affected by these transactions are sales, accounts receivable, cost
of sales, inventory, cash, sales discounts, sales returns and allowances, bad debts expense, and
allowance for uncollectable accounts

a. Certain balance sheet accounts like accounts receivable and inventories are going to be very
significant for the computer manufacturer, but relatively immaterial for the hotel. The computer
company is also likely to have a higher ratio of sales to fixed assets, or sale to total assets, than the
hotel.
b. The computer company auditor will have significant issues associated with the risk of misstatement
with respect to the existence of receivables and inventories that are not present for the hotel. The
computer company auditor will also have to address valuation and allocation issues associated with
the collectability of receivables and lower of cost or market of inventories that are insignificant for the
hotel. The hotel will have a potential risk of material misstatement in terms of how it accounts for
revenues from properties that it manages for others, as opposed to properties that it owns.
14 4. Factors that might motivate management to deliberately misstate revenue cycle assertions
include: Pressures to overstate revenues in order to report achieving announced revenue or
profitability targets or industry norms that were not achieved in reality owing to such factors as global,
national, or regional economic conditions, the impact of technological developments on the entity s

Change In The Music Of Today s Music Industry
Looking back at the music that everyone enjoyed a few decades ago, and then compare it to todays
genre of music there are many differences. In the past two decades alone there has been a drastic
change in the music that is considered popular. Going from a four man band that play instruments to
one person pressing buttons on a computer and using auto tune. The talent in today s music industry
has obviously declined over the years. As the music we listen to continues to change and trends come
and go, nobody really notices how it changes. With all of the technology and social websites in todays
society, being famous is no longer a big deal (https://soratothamax.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/music

Emphasis is placed on art, not money or fame (https://soratothamax.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/music

reputation when choosing a career in music. Though this is not always the case, the elite are really the
only ones who get the reputation and big bucks, unless you can get a hit single on Facebook. With this
in mind, children may be more realistic when choosing a career choice, or learn various skills just in

Genomic Structural Variants
Genomic structural variants (SVs), including deletions, duplications, inversions, and translocations of
genetic sequences, account for at least five times more variable base pairs than single nucleotide
variants among human genomes. However, traditional genome wide scans for adaptive evolution and
disease association tend to ignore thousands of complex structural variants because these scans rely
heavily on intact linkage disequilibrium blocks. This is because a majority of deletion polymorphisms
in the human genome is not in linkage with single nucleotide variants around it due to frequent gene
conversion events in this locus. Recent locus specific studies have investigated a handful of such
complex structural variants and have made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aim 1. Resolving the haplotype architecture of GHRd3 to determine its functional and evolutionary
impact: In our preliminary studies, we have now resolved the haplotype architecture using focused
analysis of thousands of genomes. This will allow us to thoroughly interrogate associations of
different GHR haplotypes with metabolic and developmental diseases, expression and methylation
and levels of neighboring genes in different tissues. In addition, using population genetics and model
based analysis of the newly resolved haplotypes will enable us to trace back the adaptive pressures
acting on the locus, shedding light on the evolutionary forces maintaining this deletion in the
population.
Aim 2. Determining the mechanisms through which GHRd3 affect cell function: Based on previous
studies, we hypothesize that GHRd3 leads to multiple downstream consequences in the growth
hormone pathway, including sensitization to growth hormone stimuli. We have now established
CRISPR Cas9 induced isogenic human cell lines with all three possible GHRd3 genotypes. Using this
experimental model, we will comparatively measure the impact of growth hormone treatment to rate
of cell division and to growth

The Use Of Characters In Dubliners By James Joyce
A Motif is a recurring structure, contrast, or literary device. An epiphany is a sudden realization of the
meaning of something. The characters in the short stories of Dubliners , by James Joyce, undergo
great and small epiphanies. These epiphanies aren t the sudden realization of new experiences and
possibilities for reform, but instead they give the characters a better understanding of their
circumstances. In Araby and The Dead the endings conclude with epiphanies that the characters fully
comprehend, yet these epiphanies are touched with frustration, sadness, and regret. In the short story
Araby the narrator is an unnamed boy who has an infatuation with a girl known as Mangan s sister.
The narrator makes a promise to buy her a present from the bazaar. However at the end of the story, as
the narrator is in the bazaar, he approaches the stall and is put off by the salesman s response and tone,
The tone of her voice was not encouraging; she seemed to have spoken to me out of a sense of duty.
Disappointed, he ends up not buying anything at all and leaves. He comes to the conclusion that the
bazaar, that he thought would be so amazing and exciting, is actually just a degraded place to buy
things. He sees that the conversation with Mangan s sister, where he promised to buy her something,
was only small talk and that she is only a girl who wouldn t care whether or not he buys her
something. He leaves upset and discomforted. The epiphany he had changed him from

The Asia Pacific region is a rising star in FinTech innovation, but this week, the blockchain spotlight

major steps forward.
It s no surprise, considering the Singapore FinTech Festival took place, acting as a global stage for
blockchain innovators to strut their stuff. According to reports in Singapore Business Review, $2.71
billion was raised by investors for FinTechs in the final day of the FinTech Festival, with the majority
of investors coming from Singapore itself. Nearly two thirds of that funding will go toward blockchain
startups, reports added.

Singapore s central bank also announced a new agreement with the central bank of the Philippines to
explore how blockchain could facilitate international payments between their markets.
The FinTech Cooperation Agreement establishes a framework of collaboration between the two
central banks, reports in Crypto Coin News said.
[The Monetary Authority of Singapore] and the [Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas] are like minded in their
focus on harnessing financial technology to reduce inefficiency and benefit individuals and
businesses, said MAS Managing Director Ravi Menon in a statement. This Cooperation Agreement
between our two agencies provides a framework for promoting financial innovation not only in our
countries but can also potentially contribute to broader efforts in ASEAN.
Reports pointed to the MAS efforts to create a digital Singaporean dollar on a blockchain as one
potential initiative that could come into play with this collaboration with the Philippines. The two
central banks will also explore streamlined Know Your Customers (KYC) solutions that use
blockchain.

Essay Fairy Tales
Fairy Tales
Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm are famous for their renditions of some of the most beloved children s
fairy tales. Among the hundreds is the well known (Schneewittchen) Snow drop. This fairy tale is in
many aspects common, imperfect, and vulgar, as are most of the fairy tale translations of the Grimm
Brothers. These characteristics are what depict the Grimm fairy tales. The tales were primarily written
to entertain and relate to the common peasantsof the 1800 s. The stories are not what you would call a
perfect fairy tale in that the end is not always as you would predict, but there is always a happy
ending. In Snow White, there were many versions that the Grimm Brothers wrote but we only see the

It received a Special Academy Award (one full sized oscar and seven small ones) from the Motion
Picture Academy in 1938. The process of producing this film took Disney and the trained artists
approximately four years to research and complete. Veteran Disney art director and designer Ken
Anderson recalls, One night in 1934, we came back to the studio to work after dinner, and Walt called
40 of us on to the small recording stage. We all sat in folding chairs, the lights went down, and Walt
spent the next four hours telling us the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He didn t just tell
the story, he acted out each character, and when he got to the end he told us that was going to be our
first feature. It was a shock to all of us because we knew how hard it was to do a cartoon short. He was
doing something no other studio had ever attempted, but his excitement over Snow White inspired us
all. Walt Disney took his story line for Snow White directly from the Grimm s fairy tale even though
there are over 20 adaptations of this particular fairy tale.
In the vast majority of German tales in which stepmothers figure as prominent villains, it is the

There are no specific products, consequently there is no exporting.
The company have the choice for joint venter there, but the existing entertainment companies in

By applying wholly owned subsidiary Al Hokair will have the control on all over the business and
easily can managed it as the company sees. Moreover, they will enjoy operating in Aqaba and Amman
Where they are critical cities and considered as investment hubs which full of tourism, which will

  • 3. The Pathophysiology Of Muscles The word muscle has its origins in the Latin word musculus which means little mouse . The terminology became popular as the movement of certain muscles, most notably biceps, was thought to be reminiscent of a mouse moving beneath a rug. Another explanation is that at the anatomical level, some muscles look like mice. This holds true especially for muscles with long, thin tendons that resemble a mouse s tail. Muscles are specialized contractile tissues responsible for motility, a feature that is a distinguishing characteristic between the plant and animal kingdoms; and are responsible for most physiological processes in higher animals like blood circulation, contractions of the heart, involuntary peristaltic movements of the gut, respiration, voluntary body movements, maintenance of posture, gait and facial expressions. How a single tissue performs such varied functions can be attributed to the distinct mechanical, contractile, structural and electrophysiological properties that are acquired by each muscle type during the course of development. • 4. An Analysis Of Medea And The King Of Corinth Throughout the play, Medea, Medea proves that knowledge can destroy. She is surrounded by powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her husband. She shows that physical power may not be the ultimate power that one may have, but that intellectual power can destroy what one may hold close to them. In the play, Kreon, the king of Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medea s husband, values his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him great happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to manipulate and cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. This eventually causes the murder of royalty as well as Jason and Medea s sons. Little does Jason know that the revenge Medea takes on him is total, as his sons, which are his legacy, are dead. Also, no one would want to marry Jason because Medea s on the loose, and can go after any woman that would pursue Jason. As Medea said, For those children [Jason] had from me he will never see alive again, nor will he on his new bride beget another child, for she is to be forced to die a most terrible death by these my poisons. Let no one think me a weak one, feeble spirited, a stay at home, but rather just the opposite, one who can hurt my enemies and help my friends (Medea, 787 793). Lenz Fabian Nov.19,2012 A Canadian woman plays an important role and contributions on the home front during the war years. They supported our country s war efforts not only in traditional roles, but also in unprecedented new ways. Women in this era are said to be the toughest one, they endure all pains and suffering just to be heard and express their thoughts. During World War 1, women roll up their sleeves and took a wide variety of civilian job that once is filled by men. They were faced with the reality that they had to maintain the family farm themselves, as well as raise the children, while the husbands, sons and hired laborers were off at war. With their sons overseas, many farm women had to take on extra work. One Alberta mother of nine sons all of them either in the army or away working in factories drove the tractor, plowed the fields, put up hay, and hauled grain to elevators, along with tending her garden, raising chickens, pigs and turkeys, and canning hundreds of jars of fruits and vegetables. There was no uniform for the farmerettes, but the young women who volunteered their services learned to wear loose fitting dressings to accommodate the heavy labor involved in working the land and broad brimmed hats to protect against the sun. In 1918, 2,400 women served as farmerettes and assisted fruit farmers in the Niagara region. Many farm workers enlisted in the army, and if Canada was going to produce enough food, labourers had to be found. Farm work, promoted as a paying job, infact became a drain on the financial resources of many women the pay was usually $4 a week. Many men left their civilian jobs to fight for their country during the First World War. • 6. John Stuart Mill’s Explanation of the Harm Principle John Stuart Mill s explanation of the harm principle is not as useful as once believed. Although the harm principle does in fact have some logic, it fails to set clear and concise borders regarding what denotes allowable hate speech. The harm principle essentially states that all speech, including hate speech, should be allowed. However, speech that causes a definable harm must be censored. For example, merely offensive speech is allowed; however, the context of the offensive speech in question is important in understanding when to apply Mill s harm principle. The principle has some major flaws, as Mill does not take into consideration the numerous factors that must be examined before deciding whether or not to apply the principle, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if a critique is meaningless, Mill argues that we did our best at attempting to ensure the validity of a claim. We should therefore study all modes and perspectives in which something can be looked at, since our knowledge base depends on subjecting ourselves to alternative viewpoints to know the truth about something. The disagreement and contestation that potentially occurs is what leads to the truth. Furthermore, contrary to the beliefs of certain monarchs during his time, Mill argued that human beings are not infallible; therefore, we can never be certain that anything is definite, because we are not in a position to be judges of certainty (Cahn 443). The usefulness of an opinion is subjective and open to discussion, and due to the fallibility of humans, no individual has the right to stifle the opinion of another, for we can never be certain we are stifling a false opinion (Cahn 461). Even our truest convictions must be tested, Mill argues, because even they can be partly mistaken. However, it may in fact be that our convictions are logical and valid. Mill asserts that even then we must subject ourselves to critics and alternative viewpoints; only then can our convictions become vivid in our mind and character. If our beliefs are not tested, they will become robotic and lifeless. Further, Mill argues that we must not think in black and white, for different positions have value in them and since we are not judges of what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first example was the emotional connection a doctor can have with a patient, and the second example was the difficulty of getting patients to open up to the doctors In the first example, Dr. Jane Liebschutz became emotionally connected to an elderly patient who was having surgery for the first time. The surgery involved removing some vein from the leg, some vessels in the chest wall, and connecting them to the coronary arteries, which will help pump blood to his heart. Historical Trends Of Human Service Policy Historical Trends in Human Service Policy In the context of human service, the current practice of social welfare in Europe and America is a product of evolutionary change. The social welfare structure in countries such as Canada, France, and the United States draw from English social welfare policies that created foundational structures of current social welfare practice. The practice of social welfare traces back to English heritage spanning back to a time when English policies operated in British colonies (Guest, 1997). English policies such as the Elizabethan Poor Laws of 1594 and 1601 and the 1662 Law of Settlement and Removal defined human service and social welfare in England and her colonies (Ascoli Cnaan, 1997). In the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the paper also analyzes the net gains and losses of these trends to the society. One of the profound historical trends in regards to human service was the English poor laws that governed the treatment of the poor. Following the enactment of the Elizabethan poor laws in 1601, the English embarked on an entirely new approach of dealing with the poor in the society. While the poor laws appeared harsh in England and colonial in English colonies, these laws defined policies that spearheaded action in human service in regards to the treatment of the poor in society. Essentially, the concepts, ideologies, policies, approaches, and discourse provided by the pool laws defined a human service structure that still informs the current practice of social welfare (Carniol, 2005). Prior to the Elizabethan poor laws, the practice of social welfare consisted of voluntary subscription to a poor relief fund by the poor coupled with the use of harsh punishment to discourage vagabonds and beggars (Guest, 1997). This practice related to a general assumption that paupers or rather the poor suffered from moral deficiency that render them poor and dependent (Hasenfeld Garrow, 2012). The Elizabethan poor laws however ushered in a new dispensation that resumed full public responsibility for the poor and the destitute in the society. So, the main issue is to increase the network lifetime. The multi chain concept in PEGASIS and sink mobility increases the network lifetime in wireless sensor network. In this research paper, we have proposed a revised multi chain PEGASIS protocol by revising the position of the mobile sink to maximize the network lifetime. The simulation is done in MATLAB R2008a and results are compared with MIEEPB (Mobile sink improved energy efficient PEGASIS based routing protocol). Also, we have simulated revised multi chain PEGASIS according to standard assumptions and results are shown satisfactory. Keywords: multi chain PEGASIS, revised MIEEPB, sink mobility, energy efficient 1. Introduction In many application areas, the wireless sensor network must be able to operate for long periods of time, and the energy consumption of both individual sensor nodes and the sensor network as a whole is most important. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one problem in particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed perfectly still but not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship. If you wanted to sail, it was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can t tell the time, you don t how far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude your distance north or south of the equator by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at noon; but this won t let you calculate longitude your position east or west. The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth century by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling the time in spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship. This made it possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its chronometer would be set to the local time in harbor for the British this was usually Greenwich. You would then compare the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed by the Sun. The difference between the two times gave you your longitude. • 20. The Testament Of The Ephesians Paul, who is the author of Ephesians, is writing to the church in Ephesus and possibly surrounding Asia minor cities. He wrote the book of Ephesians sometime between AD 60 62 when he was imprisoned in Rome (3:1, 4:1, 6:20). The letter was taken to Ephesus by Tychicus (vs 6:21 22). Paul knew that the Christians in Ephesus and the surrounding towns were growing and had heard about their faith so he addresses the Ephesians as a corporate body (Hultgren, 2015). At the time, Ephesus was a thriving city and the capitol of the providence of Asia. It was a city that was strategically located to encourage trade routes that would attract people from all over. Context Literary: Most of Paul s letters are written as expositions which are carefully reasoned explanations of his letter and well thought out words that are crucially placed to build agreement and action among the people (Hendricks and Hendricks, 2007, p. 224). However, this particular passage of Ephesians 3: 14 21 is a prayer among his exposition. Right before this passage, Paul pleads with the Ephesians that the church needs to be made known of the authorities in the heavenly places (Ephesians 3:10) so that they may have confidence in their faith (vs 12). Paul starts verse 14 with For this reason showing his readers that this is why he is adding a prayer in the middle of his discussion. Finally, he states his purpose of the prayer in verse 17 with words such as so that . In verses 17 19 he tells us the purpose which is three fold: that Christ may dwell in our hearts, to know the love of Christ, and to be filled with fullness of God. Information to Those Who Would Remove to America Essay Information to those who would remove to America By: Benjamin Franklin At a time of hardship and human progression in North America especially in the 1700 s one name specifically shines out amongst all others. That name is Benjamin Franklin; a visionary inventor, politician, and true American hero. In the late 1700 s, precisely 1784, Benjamin Franklin wrote an informative essay titled, Information to Those Who Would Remove to America. Finally, many people in Europe believed that if you were to move to America, the government will give you land, free transportation from Europe to America, negroes that will work for you, and farming needs such as tools and livestock. It was a firm belief in America that hard work was valued, perhaps that was something passed on from the Puritans. People who migrated there had to work hard, it wasn t a red carpet waiting for you there; but a clean slate where you can start from scratch and build your own dreams and aspirations. Genomic Structural Variants Genomic structural variants (SVs), including deletions, duplications, inversions, and translocations of genetic sequences, account for at least five times more variable base pairs than single nucleotide variants among human genomes. However, traditional genome wide scans for adaptive evolution and disease association tend to ignore thousands of complex structural variants because these scans rely heavily on intact linkage disequilibrium blocks. This is because a majority of deletion polymorphisms in the human genome is not in linkage with single nucleotide variants around it due to frequent gene conversion events in this locus. In addition, using population genetics and model based analysis of the newly resolved haplotypes will enable us to trace back the adaptive pressures acting on the locus, shedding light on the evolutionary forces maintaining this deletion in the population. The characters in the short stories of Dubliners , by James Joyce, undergo great and small epiphanies. These epiphanies aren t the sudden realization of new experiences and possibilities for reform, but instead they give the characters a better understanding of their circumstances. In Araby and The Dead the endings conclude with epiphanies that the characters fully comprehend, yet these epiphanies are touched with frustration, sadness, and regret. In the short story Araby the narrator is an unnamed boy who has an infatuation with a girl known as Mangan s sister. The narrator makes a promise to buy her a present from the bazaar. However at the end of the story, as the narrator is in the bazaar, he approaches the stall and is put off by the salesman s response and tone, The tone of her voice was not encouraging; she seemed to have spoken to me out of a sense of duty. Disappointed, he ends up not buying anything at all and leaves. He comes to the conclusion that the bazaar, that he thought would be so amazing and exciting, is actually just a degraded place to buy things.
