Working Capital Management Case Study
highly statistically significant. Soenen (1993) examined the relationship between the net trade
cycle as a measure of working capital and return on investment in the US enterprises.
The results of chi square check showed a negative relationship among the length of net trade cycle
and return on assets. In addition, this opposite relationship was found to be different across
industries. A significance relationship for approximately half of industries studied showed that
results might differ from industry to industry.
Another fact of working capital management was examined by Lamberson (1995) who examined
how small enterprises react to fluctuations in economic activities by moving their working capital
requirements and the level of current assets and liabilities. Current assay to current liabilities ratio,
current assets to total assets ratio, and inventory to total assets ratio were used as a measure of
working capital, however, the index of the annual average coincident economic meter was used as a
measure of economic activity.
Opposing to expectations, the study found that there is a very slight relationship between
fluctuations in economic circumstances and changes in working capital. To conenterprise the
results of Soenen (1993) on large sample and with longer time period, Joseet al. (1996) tested the
relationship among aggressive working capital management and profitability of the US enterprises,
using the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) as a measure of working capital

Why Do British Soldiers Wear Uniform
A common myth that I chose was the myth regarding the British Soldiers and their red coats.
The myth was the explanation of why the British soldiers wore red coats. The myth back then
and that is still circulating is that the British soldiers wore red coats so their enemies could not
see blood on them when they were injured. Ultimately, if you didn t have a knowledge of the
exact reason, you would automatically assume it was a war tactic. It would make sense in
preventing one soldier or another to be sought out because of an injury (weakness) making them
an easy target. Let s look at the myth of the British Soldiers, the reason behind their red coats and
why this myth still circulates today. First, let s discuss the myth of the British soldiers. Their
uniforms they were red and white. The majority of their uniform was white. So rationally
speaking, it wouldn t make sense. In fact, the uniform would need to be almost all red to meet this
myth. If the uniform was all red would blood still show up on it? Many already know that or have
experienced blood on their clothes whether it be from an intense sports... Show more content on

In the early centuries clothes mainly consisted of neutral fiber colors such as black, white or
beige. Dyes were used in bringing brighter colors to clothing. According to Miley, M. (2012),
Some people used the most vivid colors to portray wealth, royalty or power (pg.1). People of
wealth, royalty or power were easily identified among a city s population. This statement makes
sense because clothing back then generally consisted of primary colors until brighter colors were
introduced. According to Miley, M. (2012), In this case of the British soldiers coat color, madder
was used to dye the coats red. The dye was collected from the roots of Madder plants. The British
government decided to pick madder because it was inexpensive in the creation of numerous
uniforms as well as a symbol of

Population Genetics
In 1831, Charles Darwin, proposed a theory of evolution occurring by the process of natural
selection. This has come to be known as the Theory of Natural Selection. Darwin worked on his
theory for 20 years and after learning that Alfred Russel Wallace, another naturalist, had developed
similar ideas, the two made a joint announcement of their discovery in 1858. Darwin published On
the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection in 1859, 28 years after he proposed his theory
of natural selection. [1]
Darwin s theory of natural selection states that evolutionary change comes through the production
of variation in each generation and differential survival of individuals with different combinations
of these variable characters. [2] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A definitive description of Huntington s Chorea occurred, when George Huntington submitted
his article On chorea to the Medical and Surgical Reporter of Philadelphia, USA, in 1872, 31 years
after Waters gave his description of the disorder. Waters described a disorder which is markedly
hereditary, very rarely makes its appearance before adult life, in all cases induces a state of more or
less perfect dementia and never ceases while life lasts . The disease was recorded early on by
observers; however Waters description was the first detailed description of the disease. It is
believed that the disease was present among the population at a much earlier date as it is caused by
a dominant allele. Because of its long history, and the fact that the mutation rate for Huntington s
chorea is among the lowest recorded for any inherited condition, the disease has great potential in
genealogical investigations. The Afrikaner population posed as a great source to study the disease
because of the excellent recording of the origins and history of the Afrikaner nation. The excellent
documentation facilitated efforts to trace the disease back to the earliest transmission of the gene to
South Africa.
In their research they found that the only previous attempt to investigate the genealogy of this
disease in

Superman And Wonder Woman
It all started out in New York, Superman was fighting Parasite.Parasite was about to destroy
Superman when someone flew out of nowhere and saved superman. At first Superman thought it
was Supergirl but when she landed Superman couldn t believe his eyes it was Wonder Woman. She
came from New Jersey and rescued Superman. One week later Wonder Woman was also about to be
destroyed, but Superman came to the rescue Wonder Woman couldn t believe that Superman saved
her. A month later Superman and Wonder Women were fighting crime and together they were
unstoppable, unbeatable and invincible. A year later after SuperMan and WonderWoman were

In the year of 2000, Superman and Wonder Woman had a beautiful baby girl named Sapphire. She
had long black hair and dark blue eyes and was the sweetest little girl that anyone has ever met.
Years later superman and Wonder Woman were captured by batmanand catwoman and sapphire
was only three years old. So sapphire had to live with her aunt and uncle. Thirteen years later,
Sapphire was about to turn 16. sapphire was sick of this one boy bullying her everyday at school

The Importance Of Transfer Between Cells
Though the previous experiment does indicate that when a seed is inserted into a cell it can form
amyloid fibers, it fails to include parameters that describe how these proteins are transferred
between cells. In order for an infectious agent to become infectious it must have a method for not
only leaving the host cell but also entering a non infected cell. A study lead by Christian MГјnch
set out to show the pathway that a prionlike proteinin an amyloid fiber can transfer between cells.
The first test that was done in this study was to grow cells in a media containing a mutant SOD1
(a common ALS causing protein) granule coated fibrils. These fibrils were labeled with Dylight
dyes and when examined the majority of the grown cells were... Show more content on

One clear example of how mutations in the Prion like domains can affect the protein is shown in
a study done by James Shorter and J. Paul Taylor, continuing the research of Hong Joo Kim et al.
During the original research, mutations were found in the PrLDs of both hnRNPA1 and hnRNPA2
/B1, that may have a connection to forms of multisystem proteinopathy (MSP) such as ALS.
When looking into a family that was afflicted by a MSP they found a mutation within RNA
binding proteins known hnRNPA2/B1. These proteins are two isoforms of the same protein with
the longer of the two being known as hnRNPB2. In this case both forms of the protein had a
mutation in a highly conserved portion of the protein. The mutation consisted of an aspartate
residue, located at D290 in hnRNPA2 and D302 in hnRNPB1, being replaced with a valine. In a
previous study conducted by Dr. Eric Ross and James Toombs a prion propensity cart was created.
According to this study the prion propensity of the original aspartate was 0.080, much lower than
that of the new valine residue which scores a 0.81. Another contributing factor to the importance of
this mutation is that it occurs within the C terminal PrLD that is present in both proteins. The
second mutation that this study followed was present in a similar protein

The Prince Humanism Essay
At the turn of the 16th century, the Italian Peninsula was marred in brutal conflicts. Nations across
Europe, such as France, Spain and the Holy Roman Empire constantly raged wars to keep each
other out of the numerous territories around Italy. During this tumultuous time period, a man
named Niccolo Machiavelli studied in Florenceand witnessed firsthand the issues that rulers often
faced while attempting to conquer these Italian cities. His experiences prompted him to write a
literary work on his opinion of the ruling class, and his philosophy on how rulers should rule over
their subjects. However, his novel The Prince, is an interesting outlier of the time, as parts of it
contradict the popular social view of Humanism, which focused on the... Show more content on

of mankind set forth by Manetti and he refuses to acknowledge the god like qualities established by
Della Mirandola. Because of these issues, it is impossible to consider Niccolo Machiavelli a
humanist, since these concepts are the foundation to every humanistic approach. While Machiavelli
s novel was one of the most prominent works of the 16th century and furthered a new idea for the
ruling class, it hindered the notions that many humanists held dear during the

The Case Of British Airways
Discussion Board # 1
Johan Rivera
Liberty University British Airways (BA) is a company that encountered several difficulties back in
the 1970 s and 1980 s. The poor performances of the organization, was leading the company to
failure. BA was offering a service that even though it accomplished the mission of the company, was
not providing customer satisfaction. The organization was not taking into consideration the needs
of the costumer and was not providing an acceptable customer service experience. Productivity at
BA in the 1970s was strikingly bad, especially in contrast to other leading foreign airlines (Jick,
Peiperl, 2010, p.28). Due to numerous changes, the company increased their revenues and became a
respectful and well know organization.
Re Energizing
In the reading Re energizing the Mature Organization , the authors provide several stages that
organizations can approach in order to achieved success in organizational change. The case of
British Airways, can be related to this article because the company went through the changing
challenges that allowed the organization to overcome the idea of failure. BA understood that in
order to increase sales and remain competitive, they had to develop new strategies and concepts
that would re energize the company. Mr. Colin Marshall, Chief Executive of British Airways, took
the responsibility to grow and re stablish the costumer services department. As a leader, he provided

A Look At Discipleship Within The Millennial Generation...
This paper takes a look at Evangelism in 2016. It will discuss some views based upon studies of
the Millennial Generation and how they evangelize. Over recent years studies have shown that
although Evangelism amongst some generations seem to be declining. Evangelism amongst the
Millennial Generation seems to be exploding. This paper will generate some personal synopsis
based upon my most recent research. It will answer the question by presenting what some
churches are not doing, to bring us to a place of self examination. This is in no way an exhaustive
study, but one that is presented that has caused the writer to take a second look at Evangelism
within her own call. Christ has admonished us in Mark 16:15 Go into all the world, and preach the
gospelto every creature. Finally, it will conclude with a basic summation on what this writer
believes should be the goals of every born again believer.
How to Win the Lost in This Generation
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless
as doves. Matthew 10:16 I believe when Jesus spoke this to his disciples over 2,000 years ago, the
message has not changed. I believe that he has given us some foundational truths how to share the
Gospel. He was reminding us that we have to be careful. This would seem like a great balancing
act. A serpent is wise, with keen eyesight and is quick to learn. A dove is innocent, meek and
gentle. Jesus saw a necessity in this

Essay on Teaching No, but Saying Yes
Teaching No, but Saying Yes America has the highest number of teen pregnancies with 750,000
teenage girls becoming pregnant each year and HIV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, a leading
cause of death in young people, infects America s youth everyday (Sun). The lives of ordinary
young men and women are abruptly interrupted when they learn they will soon be parents or must
now live with an incurable disease. With this information in mind, American public schools need to
be teaching middle school and high schools students the importance of safe sex. Many programs
focus on the idea of abstinence, refraining from sexual activity until marriage, but these programs

Schoolchildren do not know that by having oral sex, you can still contract STDs. How can
parents and teachers expect them to know when the health teachers just explain abstinence is
the key? Is talking about sex a bad thing? In society today it seems that people are afraid to speak
about teenage sexual behavior because it is something teens are expected not to do. As if just
telling teens to not have sex will just solve it all. But teenagers rarely do as they are told. Some
researches would make you believe handing out condoms and enlightening teens on sex in like
giving a pass to be promiscuous, but in all honesty this is not the message advocates and
educators are sending. Telling teens about what happens, the emotional aftermath, and the risks
involved with sex will cause them to think about it more and be more open to talking to their
parents or guardians. Many of America s young people are afraid to speak to their parents about
sex because they feel embarrassed or feel like their parents will lock them away to be sure they
abstain from sex, but talking about sex with people who have been through what teens are going
through will help. New reality television shows are depicting life as a teenage mom or what it is

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Use Of Mis En Scene
The story line of a film can be regarded as an important criterion when selecting an audience s
preference. Yes, the plot is critical when it comes to sitting still for 2 3 hours straight. However,
the excellence of that, sparks from daring and theatrical ideas that directors build on through
detailed and carefully constructed forms of art. Mis en scene forms the basis of a films
captivating ability, which can be furthered through auteuristic skill that a director projects. It is a
combination of these key forms of art that allow us, as an audience to grasp exactly what it is we
are viewing, and why we find ourselves fighting that mid movie urge for a bathroom break. Mis en
scene simply refers to the setting and surrounding of an event within film. This element of a film is
another way for a director to add more detail to an important scene, or to simply enhance an
atmospheric understanding. Alfred Hitchcocks use of mis en scene within a film accompanies his
rich portrayal of suspense, avidly depicted throughout the majority of his films. Mis en scene
incorporates a large number of features including costume design, actors, lighting, props, colour
and sound. A good director knows how to use Mis en scene to create a better all round picture
and story line for his/her film. If a directors use of mis en scene is successful, the audience is able
to have a clear understanding of even the subtlest features of the story line. It is through the control
of mis en scene that the

Why Blu Ray Disc Is Better Than Its Counterparts
There was a time when the only place one can watch a movie was in a cinema. Then after a while,
as technology progressed, more means were evolved. There were video cassettes first, followed by
CDs. The reign of CDs lasted until the format DVD was carved out. Ultimately, this evolution
resulted in the pinnacle of entertainment: the Blu ray Disc. This research paper will look at the
various reasons behind the development of both the DVD,HD DVD and Blu ray Disc and will
analyze why Blu ray Disc is better than its counterparts.
First, let us take a look at the formation and development of DVD. DVD is essentially the
acronym of Digital Versatile Disc and was developed in 1995 by the joint cooperation of industry
giants like Sony, Phillips, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another association was subsequently formed for the promotion of this format, called the Blu ray
Disc Association. Now there were two front runners, Toshiba with their HD DVD and Sony with
their Blu ray Disc. The HD DVD had the advantage as it was less expensive than the Blu ray and
had a lion s share of released titles. But when Sony premiered the Blu ray Disc player in their Play
Station 3, the tides were turned. Effective marketing techniques shifted the market trend in the Blu
ray favour until 2008, when Toshiba announced that it was pulling back the HD DVD format and
that Blu ray Discs were to become the standard of High Definition Audio and Video ( Toshiba
Drops Out of the HD DVD War , 2008). Many entertainment and multimedia distributors also pulled
their support and from there on, Blu ray Discs have been the industry standard.
HD DVD had one major benefit: the price. Its player cost about $400 less than the standard Blu
ray Disc player. This was a major driving factor in the adoption of this format by all the major
movie distributors as this meant a larger sale. Another major advantage was that the HD DVD
player was reverse compatible which meant that older DVDs and CDs could be played on it. As the
format became popular, it was incorporated in many laptops and PCs as standard. But it had some
drawbacks as well. First, a dual layer HD DVD could store only 30 GB worth of data whereas the
Blu ray could store as much

Suggestions For Choosing Replacement Windows For Your Cabin In The Woods
If you re planning to renovate a cabin in the woods so you ll have a place for weekend getaways,
you ll probably want to replace the windows with more energy efficient versions. You ll also want
the windows to be durable and require little maintenance in the years to come. Here are some some
suggestions for choosing the ideal replacement windows for your cabin.
Consider Aluminum Clad WoodFrames
Aluminum clad wood frames are a good match for cabins because they give your place the
traditional appearance of wood on the inside, but the outside has a protective layer of aluminum.
These windows are made with wood on the side that faces indoors and metal on the exterior side.
The metal is available in different colors, which is a plus if you want to match the color to your
metal roof or add a touch of color to accent the cabin s wood exterior.
The biggest advantage to having these windows is that they require much less maintenance than
full wood frames. The exterior metal surface won t rot or attract ... Show more content on

However, you want the windows to be as secure as possible when you are away. While it is
difficult to make your windows 100% burglar proof, there are some things you can do to make
the glass difficult to break. You could choose glass that is impact resistant or you could have
security film applied to the glass. Another option is to buy windows made of acrylic that is
transparent like glass but much stronger. You don t only have to worry about intruders breaking
into the windows. If the cabin is surrounded by trees, a storm could knock a branch into the glass
and break it if you don t have security glass. Animals may even bang against the glass trying to
get inside the cabin. For these reasons, you want glass that resists breaking, or glass that can t be
knocked out of the frame even if it

Internal Controls And The Implementation Of Sox
Internal Controls Since the implementation of SOX, companies were required to establish effective
and efficient internal controls in order to be in compliant with the SEC requirements. A company
that establishes a strong, effective internal control system finds it helps with the facilitation of
initiating, authorizing, recording, processing, and reporting financial data consistently in
agreement with GAAP. Companies with a strong set of internal controls will help companies ensure
the financial data they are reporting is accurate and truthful. According to COSO internal control is
defined as a process, effected by an entity s board of directors, management, and other personnel,
designed to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of the following objectives: 1.
Reliability of financial reporting, 2. Compliance with laws and other regulations, 3. Efficiency and
effectiveness of business operations, and 4. Protection of property (Kanagaretnam et al., 2014
Kapic, 2013). Additionally, internal controls contain policy and procedures that assist the company
and management with smooth operations of all daily business functions. When companies establish
internal controls they find internal controls, they find internal controls can be divided into three
different objectives: operational objects, information objectives, and goals of acquiescence or
concordance (Kapic, 2013). Operational objective consists of guaranteeing the productivity and

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Garcia Marquez
Following the contemporary style of fiction, magical realism falls into a category of its own,
portraying both the roles of fiction and nonfiction. Magical realism takes the reader into a
fantastical world, shaped by the author, based on the author s surroundings, and life experiences.
This essay will provide more insight into this style of writing and how it came to be. Taking
cited works from multiple sources, this essay will allow one to see examples of excellent works
in the style of magical realism. From its origins, to the authors that made this style of writing
popular, it will be informing to anyone looking to learn more about magical realism. Magical
realism is similar to fantasy and science fiction, creating an imaginative and sometimes disturbing
world. A perfect example of this is the short story of A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings
written by Garcia Marquez in 1955. This story tells how Pelayo and his wife Elisenda find an old
man with wings, who later in the story is found out to be an angel sent to heal their child. What s

What I mean when I say totally different is that the Sunni branch is more optimistic while the Shia
branch leans more towards pessimism. The Sunni branch is the largest and it takes up about eighty
five percent of Muslims leaving the Shia branch with only fifteen percent. The main issue of the
branches is that they didn t both agree on who should lead the community after Muhammad passed.
The Sunni branch believed it should have been a group decision on who takes charge next, while
the Shia did not agree with that and they thought that it should have went to Muhammad s cousin,
Ali. The Shia is also all about free will and symbolism rather than determinism and literal attributes
like Sunni. Its hard to believe groups like Al Qaeda that committed the nine eleven terrorism

Singapore achieved independence in 1959 due to a lack of British colonial retaliation to the
Japanese occupation during World War II. In 1965, it achieved independence for a second time as
a result of poor leadership within the Federation of Malaysia from both Tunku Abdul Rahman and

Singapore, unlike most other states and nations, has achieved independence twice: once in 1959

was apparent that Singapore was too much of a п¬Ѓnancial burden.14 It was the nationalistic
feeling inspired by Lee Kuan Yew and the PAP, which came about as a result of Japanese

The racially prejudiced and poor leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman

as their male counterparts controlled the ideals and practices of society. Women were subject to

The opportunity for women to further their education outside of the home and express themselves
artistically was extremely rare during the Victorian era. The exposure Frances Power Cobbe had
to a life outside of her maternal and spousal obligations would fuel other women to protest the
prejudice men held against all women, and thus Cobbe s narration influenced female ambitions for
equality in all aspects of life. Cobbe s autobiography certainly gave Caroline Norton a precedent for
action and encouragement to voice her disdain for male domination over women.
Caroline Norton s A Letter to the Queen forcibly protested the prejudice women had endured for
centuries in the form of a letter sent to the queen in hopes of rectifying Norton s intellectually
impoverished sisters. Norton s frustration with the English legal system (in its regards to women)
stemmed from her husband s bondage of her. Her husband denied her access to her sons and tried
to wrongfully claim her wages as a writer. From Norton s personal frustrations with her husband
and the overall male dominated legal system, her A Letter to the Queen presented a passionate
argument for the rights of all women with her emphasis on married women. Norton began her letter
by claiming that a married woman in England [had] no legal existence and that her husband had
predefined that the only existence she knows. From this powerful

The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs....
The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson reveals that the ghastly
depiction of the Indian religion (or what Rowlandson perceives as a lack of religion) in the
narrative is directly related to the ideologies of her Puritan upbringing. Furthermore, Rowlandson s
experiences in captivity and encounter with the new, or Other religionof the Indians cause her
rethink, and question her past; her experiences do not however cause her to redirect her life or
change her ideals in any way. The function of religion plays a significant role in the narrative,
especially the dissimilarities between the narrator s religious beliefs and the Other religion of her
captors. More specifically the Puritanideology of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that Mary Rowlandson s encounter with the Other causes her to doubt her past,
specifically her devotion to God. At the end of the narrative Rowlandson confirms this claim
with the remark: When I lived in prosperity; having the comforts of this World about me, my
Relations by me, and my heart cheerful: and taking little care for any thing; and yet seeing many
(whom I preferred before myself) under many trials and afflictions, in sickness, weakness,
poverty, losses, crosses, and cares of the Worlds, I should be sometimes jealous least I should
have my portion in this lifeВ…but now I see the Lord had his time to scourge and chasten me
(50). The evidence from the narrative in many ways could characterize this work as a text in which
the narrator (Mary Rowlandson) realizes her mistakes in the past and redirects her life accordingly.
This is not true in the case of Rowlandson, to be more specific her experiences and interaction with
the Indians do not challenge her Puritan ideologies, but rather confirms and strengthens them.
When the narrator returns to her former lifestyle she in no way demonstrates any new knowledge
from her experience, but rather returns home with the same degree of ignorance that she had before
her captivity. Rowlandson also contradicts herself in

Hume says that for humans finding or thinking of no explanation for the cause and effect could
be considered as such unintelligible. Hume explains that we get the knowledge of cause and
effect through our experiences. Hume explains more in depth by describing if how something
new is introduced to someone they would not have the experience to cover any of the causes
and effects of that object because they have no past experience towards that one object. Hume
also says that someone is not able to find the effect from just experiencing the cause and as
Hume assumes only if you have experienced it all will you know what will happen if the same
thing is going to happen you ll assume or predict what will be the cause and effect. Such as for
every day you experience the sun comes up every day you ll expect it or predict that it will
probably come back up tomorrow as it s been a repeating experience. Hume presumes that people

not what he believes is true. But Hume explains that we would never be able to find the cause of
what gunpowder would do with fire through reasoning alone and also could not find the cause or

Arthur Miller s play The Crucible is set in Puritan Salem, where people are deeply religious. The
Puritans believe God is the creator of all things and if the Bible does not explain their questions

Also, Ebola can be spread through bedding, needles, clothing or medical equipment. Researchers

My Experience At A Gym s Kids Club Essay
A year and a half ago I was terrified of children. I was afraid that I would screw them up in the
brain. I thought I was a bad influence and I would be the type of parent who is never there for their
kid. I was desperately looking for a career change when an old coworker passed by me at the mall,
she told me about her great job at a gym s kids club. I thought it sounded really easy and at least
a good change of pace for the time being, so I applied. After I had been offered the job I
immediately called my mother and asked, what am I going to do? What did I get myself into? I
don t like kids! she told me, you ve always gravitated towards kids and always entertained them at
functions. You have a natural ability with kids. You ll be fine. If you are really that worried just

afraid because I didn t know how I would react to different situations. After 7 months of working
there, I became the supervisor of the kids club and 4 months after that I decided I wanted to try my

Legal systems can be split between civil law and common law systems. The term civil law
referring to a legal system should not be confused with civil law as a group of legal subjects
distinct from criminal or public law. A third type of legal system accepted by some countries
without separation of church and state is religious law, based on scriptures. The specific system that
a country is ruled by is often determined by its history, connections with other countries, or its

to resist them. It s easy to act on anger, greed, revenge or any of highlighted above, but it takes

There are two core reasons why weakness prevails with some:
1) Lack of faith, not believing enough in the power of one s own internal weapons (against inner

Summary of Max Webers The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit...
Summary of Max Webers The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism
Max Weber s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is a study of the relationship
between the ethics of ascetic Protestantism and the emergence of the spirit of modern capitalism.
Weber argues that the religious ideas of groups such as the Calvinists played a role in creating the
capitalistic spirit. Weber first observes a correlation between being Protestant and being involved in
business, and declares his intent to explore religion as a potential cause of the modern economic
conditions. He argues that the modern spirit of capitalism sees profit as an end in itself, and
pursuing profit as virtuous. Weber s goal is to understand the source of this... Show more content on

While important, this alone cannot explain the need to pursue profit. One branch of Protestantism,
Calvinism, does provide this explanation. Calvinists believe in predestination that God has
already determined who is saved and damned. As Calvinism developed, a deep psychological
need for clues about whether one was actually saved arose, and Calvinists looked to their success
in worldly activity for those clues. Thus, they came to value profit and material success as signs of
God s favor. Other religious groups, such as the Pietists, Methodists, and the Baptist sects had
similar attitudes to a lesser degree. Weber argues that this new attitude broke down the traditional
economic system, paving the way for modern capitalism. However, once capitalism emerged, the
Protestant values were no longer necessary, and their ethic took on a life of its own. We are now
locked into the spirit of capitalism because it is so useful for modern economic activity.
Throughout his book, Weber emphasizes that his account is incomplete. He is not arguing that
Protestantism caused the capitalistic spirit, but rather that it was one contributing factor. He also
acknowledges that capitalism itself had an impact on the development of the religious ideas. The
full story is much more complex than Weber s partial account, and Weber himself constantly
reminds his readers about his own limitations. The book itself has an introduction and five chapters.
The first three chapters make up

Thus the building of the famous Canals and the Jordaans started. During the 1600 s Amsterdam
s population was growing rapidly. It quickly became necessary to increase in size in order to
accommodate the abundance of new occupants. The community now know as the Jordaans was
built in 1612 in the western part of Grachtengordel, it was decided that this area would be for the
working class. All of the streets and building were developed around old trails and ditches which
is why it looks different from the rest of Amsterdam. The first residence of the Jordanns were
fortunate that at the time there was much need for sailors, carpenters and other workers. Soon
small rooms and attics were being rented out to whole families, due to lack of housing. Home
owners began adding on extra rooms, building up making the streets appear narrower. Back houses
were also constructed and were reachable through small ally ways that were no more than one
meter wide. Most tenets of the Jordaans wanted to escape the crowded streets and poverty that
surrounded them but there were no escapes. Some of the weathey donated money to build the
Westerkerk Church, the famous artist Rembrandt is in fact buried in a pauper s grave. The church
gave the community members a place to avoid the slums of their neighborhood. In the early
eighteen hundreds six canals were added around the Jordaan quarter although there was still no
running water. During the 1900 s the Jordaan

Data Mining Method Of Extracting The Data From Large Database
Abstract Data mining is the method of extracting the data from large database. Various data mining
techniques are clustering, classification, association analysis, regression, summarization, time series
analysis and sequence analysis, etc. Clustering is one of the important tasks in mining and is said to
be unsupervised classification. Clustering is the techniques which is used to group similar objects
or processes. In this work four clustering algorithms (K Means, Farthest first, EM, Hierarchal) have
been analyzed to cluster the data and to find the outliers based on the number of clusters. Here the
WEKA (Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) for analyzing the clustering techniques.

Clustering plays an important role in data mining process. Clustering is the approach of grouping
the data into classes or clusters so that the objects within each cluster have high similarity in
comparison with one another[12].The common approach of clustering techniques is that to find
cluster centroid and then the data are clustered. Several clustering techniques are partitioning
methods, hierarchical methods, density based methods, grid based methods, model based methods
and constraint based clustering. Clustering is a challenging field of research in which its potential
applications pose their own requirements [4]. Clustering is also called as the data segmentation
because clustering method partitions the large data sets into smaller data groups according to their
similarities. The main objective of cluster analysis is to increase intra group similarity and inter
group dissimilarity.
Detecting outlier is one of the important tasks. A failure to detect outliers or their ineffective
handling can have serious ramifications on the strength of the inferences drained from the exercise
[4]. Outlier detection has direct applications in a wide variety of domains such as mining for
anomalies to detect network intrusions, fraud detection in mobile phone industry and recently for
detecting terrorism related activities [5].Outliers are found using the filters which is offered by
data mining tools. Liver disorder is also referred to as

Mandate Of Heaven Essay
The influence that the Mandate of Heaven and the Dynastic cycle had upon Chinese politics was
that it dictated the ruling of Chinese emperors during the time. The Mandate of Heaven asserted
that only one dynasty can rule at a time. While the Dynastic cycle was a series of historic periods
where Chinese kingdoms rose and fell in succession. Chinais a nation with one of the longest
enduring civilizations and its bureaucratic system of government has remained over 4,000 years.
How the cycle works is with the beginning with a founding family would claim the Mandate of
Heaven. Once they had popular support a period of growth of the arts, literature and philosophy
progressed with also new technologies emerging. Within one to two centuries, stagnation would set
in and led to the discontent, with factions appearing to gain popular opinion about the new dynastic
leader. Once enough opposition has been built up, the current rulers would lose their... Show more

The Fight For Physician Aid
The fight for Physician aid in Dying s nation wide legalization. Ever since Dr. Kevorkian or
Doctor Death drove his car around the united states assisting over 40 patients to take the own
lives physician aid in dying has been a topic which has sparked controversy (DiManno). Although
his actions did receive large amounts of negative feed back it did lead much of the population to
the question of whether or not it should be legal for an individual to have medical assistance to
take their life in certain situations such as terminal illness or chronic physical pain. Through the
years this idea has adopted the name physicianaid in dying. Personally I believe that we should,
because when it comes to our body we should have 100% control over what we choose to do with
it. Even if that is choosing to take our own life in times of great physical pain and suffering.
Although physician aid in dying is already legal in five states, I believe that it should be legal in
the remainder of the states in the United States. While I know that the thought of a doctor
prescribing a lethal dosage of a medication to help a patient to take their life can be disturbing to
some people it should not be illegal. If that were the case eventually it could be illegal to get
tattoos or have hair cuts that may be disturbing to some people. The way I see it is that if PAD is
really what someone wants it should be an option to them no matter what state they live in. The
thought of someone suffering from a

A True American Hero In Die Hard
Action packed and full of witty comments, Die Hard (1988) shows us what it is to be a true
American hero. The phrase die hard means to be loyal or very determined and thorough the actions
of the main protagonist, John McClane, the audience can see what the intention behind the name of
the film was. Elements such as editing, narrativeand narration, sound and mise en scene all work
to show that even those who seem least likely to do great things can and will when the time comes.
John is the last person people expect to vanquish the plan of smart terrorists, but Die Hard(1988)
tells us otherwise.
Editing tells the audience what diegetic material to look at and when. The story duration of the film
is roughly around 24 hours. The beginning is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way John is dressed gives tells a lot about his character. Unlike everyone else in the party he
is casually dressed. When the rising action unfolds, he wears nothing but a singlet, slacks and no
shoes. Compared to what Hans Gruber wears John is not prepared for combat, but the fact that
he isn t ready makes him an even greater character. This makes him stand out and shows the
audience that he is your average guy, not someone capable of outsmarting robbers. Lighting also
plays a part in revealing the meaning in Die Hard (1988). In the beginning scenes, the use of
high key lighting lets the audience know that there is no danger. Towards the rising action on the
other hand, low key lighting is used to show that danger is near or is already happening. This
intensifies the action scenes and makes John look more like a hero as he goes around the building
trying to save the lives of innocent people. In Die Hard (1988) the visual information we are shown
reveals character and works with all the elements to offer the meaning behind the

Modern Chin The Republic Of China
Modern China seems to us as a monolithic state. We simplify the different peoples and languages
to one. The reality is more complicated though several provinces have semi autonomous status and
cities like Hong Kong and Macao have freedoms the rest of China does not. Recently Taiwan
elected a pro independence party. Even though Taiwan is not part of the people s republic of Chinait
has always maintained that it intended to be part of a democracy China. That is now put in doubt
add to this some provinces wish to leave China and form their own countries. China is hardly
breaking apart but it might help us to look at a different China than today s. After the fall of the
mighty Han dynastyChina entered an era of disunification. This time... Show more content on

The time frame is also easy to mark start and end with the rise and fall of the dynasty. Yet in the
time following the Han and until the Sui there were only one dynasty that ruled all of China the Jin
and it lasted only till the death of its ruler. This has lead to the time period being given different
names and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the
Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this period saw China broken into a clear
north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties
controlling the southern part of the country. Others will divide the time period into three separate
eras, these being the Three State or Kingdom Period, the Western Jin, and the Northern and
Southern Dynasties. The first refers to the three kingdoms that formed after the fall of the Han also
called the three kingdom period. The western Jin was the name of the brief uniting dynasty the
eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern
Dynasties refers strictly to time after the fall of the Jin until the rise of the Sui. I will use the term
northern and southern dynasties for the larger time period as I feel it would be improper for us to
use the term Six Kingdom Period to refer to the north which ultimately reunified China. The
physical boundaries of China changed rapidly during the northern and southern

People Will Do Anything For Power
People will do anything for power. All over the world there are many different
types of power. Some countries have presidents, some have kings and queens, and some
have gods. Julius Caesar was a man that loves power. He loved thinking of himself above
everyone else, and everyone else adored him. The towns people cheered for him and
decorated the streets with his name. What Caesar didn t know was that there are some
people that didn t want him to come to power, and some of them might just be the Roman
Tribunes.
A Tribune was a Roman official whose job was to protect the people against
oppression by the patricians or nobles. The word tribune is connected to the word tribe.
In Latin the word for Tribune was tribunus, which means an officer connected with a
tribe, or someone that represented a tribe for specific purposes. Originally, a tribune
represented a tribe of rulers then later it became known as a variety of officers. The
tribunes were at first one, but their number was increased ultimately to ten. The
two most important were the tribunes of plebs and the military tribunes.
A Roman Tribune was a very high position. In certain ranks you had
certain jobs, for example if my ranking was Tribune my job was to assist the
legion commander, the Primus Pilus. If my ranking was Tribunus Cohortis I was
the commander of a Cohort military unit. Being a Roman Tribune gave you the
right to veto laws, command portions of the army, and eventually call

designed to refill shelves in the fastest, most convenient way {Brands, D. 2003}. They offer a
small assortment of mainly fast moving items (approximately 700 food including a slim and
organic line and non food products). Small warehouses are located at the back of each store.
Affiliates are equipped with limited technology such as intelligent cash systems high end product

technological equipments are of high quality enabling fast operations at the checkout (ALDI s staff

Hell. The four lettered word that trembles in the throats of men and children alike; The images of
suffering, flame pits and blood, the smell of burning flesh, the shrieking of those who have fallen
from grace. For centuries man has sought out ways to cleanse his soul, to repent for his sins and
possibly secure his passage into paradise, all evoked by the fear of eternal damnation and pain. The
early 20th centuryphilosopher and existentialist writer Jean Paul Sartresaw life as an endless realm
of suffering and a complete void of nothingness. His pessimistic ideals of life followed through to
his beliefs on death, as death for him was a final nothingness. If death was a final nothingness,
Sartre s view of hell was really a final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Common in all religions, sin exists almost as a written law. For Christians it exists in the Ten
Commandments, the seven deadly sins. For Buddhists, it is the crimes against karma. Sartre,
however, does not address what prerequisites his hell contains. By conventional standards, its seems
that his characters rightfully deserve to be placed in hell.
While Estelle s hands were tarnished with the murder of her own baby, both Garcin and Inez are
indirectly responsible for the death of those close to them. For Sartre, all three characters are
pathetic examples of humankind. Believing that human beings can never hope to understand why
they are here, Sartre, like many existentialists, believes that each individual must choose a goal and
follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of death and the ultimate
meaninglessness of one s life. Nonetheless, Estelle, Garcin and Inez all exist with no real purpose
and therefore are damned to suffer not only in their life, but their afterlife.
Garcin may have been the closest to following a goal, but his act of fleeing from revolution and
his cowardly death shows that he has no real passion. Estelle is the most superficial of the group,
the one with least conviction. She simply uses people to her pleasure and herself as the object of
their desire. Inez sees herself as a quot;damned bitch quot; and believes that she is in fact damned
and belongs in hell.

  • 2. Working Capital Management Case Study highly statistically significant. Soenen (1993) examined the relationship between the net trade cycle as a measure of working capital and return on investment in the US enterprises. The results of chi square check showed a negative relationship among the length of net trade cycle and return on assets. In addition, this opposite relationship was found to be different across industries. A significance relationship for approximately half of industries studied showed that results might differ from industry to industry. Another fact of working capital management was examined by Lamberson (1995) who examined how small enterprises react to fluctuations in economic activities by moving their working capital requirements and the level of current assets and liabilities. Current assay to current liabilities ratio, current assets to total assets ratio, and inventory to total assets ratio were used as a measure of working capital, however, the index of the annual average coincident economic meter was used as a measure of economic activity. Opposing to expectations, the study found that there is a very slight relationship between fluctuations in economic circumstances and changes in working capital. To conenterprise the results of Soenen (1993) on large sample and with longer time period, Joseet al. (1996) tested the relationship among aggressive working capital management and profitability of the US enterprises, using the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) as a measure of working capital ... • 3. Why Do British Soldiers Wear Uniform A common myth that I chose was the myth regarding the British Soldiers and their red coats. The myth was the explanation of why the British soldiers wore red coats. The myth back then and that is still circulating is that the British soldiers wore red coats so their enemies could not see blood on them when they were injured. Ultimately, if you didn t have a knowledge of the exact reason, you would automatically assume it was a war tactic. It would make sense in preventing one soldier or another to be sought out because of an injury (weakness) making them an easy target. Let s look at the myth of the British Soldiers, the reason behind their red coats and why this myth still circulates today. First, let s discuss the myth of the British soldiers. Their uniforms they were red and white. The majority of their uniform was white. So rationally speaking, it wouldn t make sense. In fact, the uniform would need to be almost all red to meet this myth. If the uniform was all red would blood still show up on it? Many already know that or have experienced blood on their clothes whether it be from an intense sports... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early centuries clothes mainly consisted of neutral fiber colors such as black, white or beige. Dyes were used in bringing brighter colors to clothing. According to Miley, M. (2012), Some people used the most vivid colors to portray wealth, royalty or power (pg.1). People of wealth, royalty or power were easily identified among a city s population. This statement makes sense because clothing back then generally consisted of primary colors until brighter colors were introduced. According to Miley, M. (2012), In this case of the British soldiers coat color, madder was used to dye the coats red. The dye was collected from the roots of Madder plants. The British government decided to pick madder because it was inexpensive in the creation of numerous uniforms as well as a symbol of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Population Genetics In 1831, Charles Darwin, proposed a theory of evolution occurring by the process of natural selection. This has come to be known as the Theory of Natural Selection. Darwin worked on his theory for 20 years and after learning that Alfred Russel Wallace, another naturalist, had developed similar ideas, the two made a joint announcement of their discovery in 1858. Darwin published On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection in 1859, 28 years after he proposed his theory of natural selection. [1] Darwin s theory of natural selection states that evolutionary change comes through the production of variation in each generation and differential survival of individuals with different combinations of these variable characters. [4] A definitive description of Huntington s Chorea occurred, when George Huntington submitted his article On chorea to the Medical and Surgical Reporter of Philadelphia, USA, in 1872, 31 years after Waters gave his description of the disorder. Waters described a disorder which is markedly hereditary, very rarely makes its appearance before adult life, in all cases induces a state of more or less perfect dementia and never ceases while life lasts . The disease was recorded early on by observers; however Waters description was the first detailed description of the disease. It is believed that the disease was present among the population at a much earlier date as it is caused by a dominant allele. Because of its long history, and the fact that the mutation rate for Huntington s chorea is among the lowest recorded for any inherited condition, the disease has great potential in genealogical investigations. The Afrikaner population posed as a great source to study the disease because of the excellent recording of the origins and history of the Afrikaner nation. The excellent documentation facilitated efforts to trace the disease back to the earliest transmission of the gene to South Africa. In their research they found that the only previous attempt to investigate the genealogy of this disease in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Importance Of Transfer Between Cells Though the previous experiment does indicate that when a seed is inserted into a cell it can form amyloid fibers, it fails to include parameters that describe how these proteins are transferred between cells. In order for an infectious agent to become infectious it must have a method for not only leaving the host cell but also entering a non infected cell. A study lead by Christian MГјnch set out to show the pathway that a prionlike proteinin an amyloid fiber can transfer between cells. The first test that was done in this study was to grow cells in a media containing a mutant SOD1 (a common ALS causing protein) granule coated fibrils. These fibrils were labeled with Dylight dyes and when examined the majority of the grown cells were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One clear example of how mutations in the Prion like domains can affect the protein is shown in a study done by James Shorter and J. Paul Taylor, continuing the research of Hong Joo Kim et al. During the original research, mutations were found in the PrLDs of both hnRNPA1 and hnRNPA2 /B1, that may have a connection to forms of multisystem proteinopathy (MSP) such as ALS. When looking into a family that was afflicted by a MSP they found a mutation within RNA binding proteins known hnRNPA2/B1. These proteins are two isoforms of the same protein with the longer of the two being known as hnRNPB2. In this case both forms of the protein had a mutation in a highly conserved portion of the protein. The mutation consisted of an aspartate residue, located at D290 in hnRNPA2 and D302 in hnRNPB1, being replaced with a valine. In a previous study conducted by Dr. Eric Ross and James Toombs a prion propensity cart was created. According to this study the prion propensity of the original aspartate was 0.080, much lower than that of the new valine residue which scores a 0.81. Another contributing factor to the importance of this mutation is that it occurs within the C terminal PrLD that is present in both proteins. The second mutation that this study followed was present in a similar protein ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Prince Humanism Essay At the turn of the 16th century, the Italian Peninsula was marred in brutal conflicts. Nations across Europe, such as France, Spain and the Holy Roman Empire constantly raged wars to keep each other out of the numerous territories around Italy. During this tumultuous time period, a man named Niccolo Machiavelli studied in Florenceand witnessed firsthand the issues that rulers often faced while attempting to conquer these Italian cities. His experiences prompted him to write a literary work on his opinion of the ruling class, and his philosophy on how rulers should rule over their subjects. • 12. A Look At Discipleship Within The Millennial Generation... This paper takes a look at Evangelism in 2016. It will discuss some views based upon studies of the Millennial Generation and how they evangelize. Over recent years studies have shown that although Evangelism amongst some generations seem to be declining. Evangelism amongst the Millennial Generation seems to be exploding. This paper will generate some personal synopsis based upon my most recent research. It will answer the question by presenting what some churches are not doing, to bring us to a place of self examination. This is in no way an exhaustive study, but one that is presented that has caused the writer to take a second look at Evangelism within her own call. Christ has admonished us in Mark 16:15 Go into all the world, and preach the gospelto every creature. Finally, it will conclude with a basic summation on what this writer believes should be the goals of every born again believer. How to Win the Lost in This Generation Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16 I believe when Jesus spoke this to his disciples over 2,000 years ago, the message has not changed. I believe that he has given us some foundational truths how to share the Gospel. He was reminding us that we have to be careful. This would seem like a great balancing act. A serpent is wise, with keen eyesight and is quick to learn. A dove is innocent, meek and gentle. Essay on Teaching No, but Saying Yes Teaching No, but Saying Yes America has the highest number of teen pregnancies with 750,000 teenage girls becoming pregnant each year and HIV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, a leading cause of death in young people, infects America s youth everyday (Sun). The lives of ordinary young men and women are abruptly interrupted when they learn they will soon be parents or must now live with an incurable disease. With this information in mind, American public schools need to be teaching middle school and high schools students the importance of safe sex. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schoolchildren do not know that by having oral sex, you can still contract STDs. How can parents and teachers expect them to know when the health teachers just explain abstinence is the key? Is talking about sex a bad thing? In society today it seems that people are afraid to speak about teenage sexual behavior because it is something teens are expected not to do. As if just telling teens to not have sex will just solve it all. But teenagers rarely do as they are told. Some researches would make you believe handing out condoms and enlightening teens on sex in like giving a pass to be promiscuous, but in all honesty this is not the message advocates and educators are sending. Telling teens about what happens, the emotional aftermath, and the risks involved with sex will cause them to think about it more and be more open to talking to their parents or guardians. Many of America s young people are afraid to speak to their parents about sex because they feel embarrassed or feel like their parents will lock them away to be sure they abstain from sex, but talking about sex with people who have been through what teens are going through will help. • 14. Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Use Of Mis En Scene The story line of a film can be regarded as an important criterion when selecting an audience s preference. Yes, the plot is critical when it comes to sitting still for 2 3 hours straight. However, the excellence of that, sparks from daring and theatrical ideas that directors build on through detailed and carefully constructed forms of art. Mis en scene forms the basis of a films captivating ability, which can be furthered through auteuristic skill that a director projects. It is a combination of these key forms of art that allow us, as an audience to grasp exactly what it is we are viewing, and why we find ourselves fighting that mid movie urge for a bathroom break. Mis en scene simply refers to the setting and surrounding of an event within film. This element of a film is another way for a director to add more detail to an important scene, or to simply enhance an atmospheric understanding. Alfred Hitchcocks use of mis en scene within a film accompanies his rich portrayal of suspense, avidly depicted throughout the majority of his films. Mis en scene incorporates a large number of features including costume design, actors, lighting, props, colour and sound. A good director knows how to use Mis en scene to create a better all round picture and story line for his/her film. If a directors use of mis en scene is successful, the audience is able to have a clear understanding of even the subtlest features of the story line. It is through the control of mis en scene that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Why Blu Ray Disc Is Better Than Its Counterparts There was a time when the only place one can watch a movie was in a cinema. Then after a while, as technology progressed, more means were evolved. There were video cassettes first, followed by CDs. The reign of CDs lasted until the format DVD was carved out. Ultimately, this evolution resulted in the pinnacle of entertainment: the Blu ray Disc. This research paper will look at the various reasons behind the development of both the DVD,HD DVD and Blu ray Disc and will analyze why Blu ray Disc is better than its counterparts. First, let us take a look at the formation and development of DVD. DVD is essentially the acronym of Digital Versatile Disc and was developed in 1995 by the joint cooperation of industry giants like Sony, Phillips, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another association was subsequently formed for the promotion of this format, called the Blu ray Disc Association. Now there were two front runners, Toshiba with their HD DVD and Sony with their Blu ray Disc. The HD DVD had the advantage as it was less expensive than the Blu ray and had a lion s share of released titles. But when Sony premiered the Blu ray Disc player in their Play Station 3, the tides were turned. Effective marketing techniques shifted the market trend in the Blu ray favour until 2008, when Toshiba announced that it was pulling back the HD DVD format and that Blu ray Discs were to become the standard of High Definition Audio and Video ( Toshiba Drops Out of the HD DVD War , 2008). Many entertainment and multimedia distributors also pulled their support and from there on, Blu ray Discs have been the industry standard. HD DVD had one major benefit: the price. Its player cost about $400 less than the standard Blu ray Disc player. This was a major driving factor in the adoption of this format by all the major movie distributors as this meant a larger sale. Another major advantage was that the HD DVD player was reverse compatible which meant that older DVDs and CDs could be played on it. As the format became popular, it was incorporated in many laptops and PCs as standard. But it had some drawbacks as well. First, a dual layer HD DVD could store only 30 GB worth of data whereas the Blu ray could store as much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The exposure Frances Power Cobbe had to a life outside of her maternal and spousal obligations would fuel other women to protest the prejudice men held against all women, and thus Cobbe s narration influenced female ambitions for equality in all aspects of life. Cobbe s autobiography certainly gave Caroline Norton a precedent for action and encouragement to voice her disdain for male domination over women. Caroline Norton s A Letter to the Queen forcibly protested the prejudice women had endured for centuries in the form of a letter sent to the queen in hopes of rectifying Norton s intellectually impoverished sisters. Norton s frustration with the English legal system (in its regards to women) stemmed from her husband s bondage of her. Summary of Max Webers The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism Max Weber s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is a study of the relationship between the ethics of ascetic Protestantism and the emergence of the spirit of modern capitalism. Weber argues that the religious ideas of groups such as the Calvinists played a role in creating the capitalistic spirit. Weber first observes a correlation between being Protestant and being involved in business, and declares his intent to explore religion as a potential cause of the modern economic conditions. He argues that the modern spirit of capitalism sees profit as an end in itself, and pursuing profit as virtuous. Weber s goal is to understand the source of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While important, this alone cannot explain the need to pursue profit. One branch of Protestantism, Calvinism, does provide this explanation. Calvinists believe in predestination that God has already determined who is saved and damned. As Calvinism developed, a deep psychological need for clues about whether one was actually saved arose, and Calvinists looked to their success in worldly activity for those clues. Thus, they came to value profit and material success as signs of God s favor. Other religious groups, such as the Pietists, Methodists, and the Baptist sects had similar attitudes to a lesser degree. Weber argues that this new attitude broke down the traditional economic system, paving the way for modern capitalism. However, once capitalism emerged, the Protestant values were no longer necessary, and their ethic took on a life of its own. We are now locked into the spirit of capitalism because it is so useful for modern economic activity. Throughout his book, Weber emphasizes that his account is incomplete. He is not arguing that Protestantism caused the capitalistic spirit, but rather that it was one contributing factor. He also acknowledges that capitalism itself had an impact on the development of the religious ideas. The full story is much more complex than Weber s partial account, and Weber himself constantly reminds his readers about his own limitations. The book itself has an introduction and five chapters. Sarah battles the confinements without holding back, taking her opportunity, while Mrs. Mallard adopts a motionless strategy and is just liberated through the death of Mr. Mallard. Clustering is the techniques which is used to group similar objects or processes. In this work four clustering algorithms (K Means, Farthest first, EM, Hierarchal) have been analyzed to cluster the data and to find the outliers based on the number of clusters. Clustering plays an important role in data mining process. Clustering is the approach of grouping the data into classes or clusters so that the objects within each cluster have high similarity in comparison with one another[12].The common approach of clustering techniques is that to find cluster centroid and then the data are clustered. Several clustering techniques are partitioning methods, hierarchical methods, density based methods, grid based methods, model based methods and constraint based clustering. Clustering is a challenging field of research in which its potential applications pose their own requirements [4]. Clustering is also called as the data segmentation because clustering method partitions the large data sets into smaller data groups according to their similarities. The main objective of cluster analysis is to increase intra group similarity and inter group dissimilarity. Detecting outlier is one of the important tasks. A failure to detect outliers or their ineffective handling can have serious ramifications on the strength of the inferences drained from the exercise [4]. Outlier detection has direct applications in a wide variety of domains such as mining for anomalies to detect network intrusions, fraud detection in mobile phone industry and recently for detecting terrorism related activities [5].Outliers are found using the filters which is offered by data mining tools. Ever since Dr. Kevorkian or Doctor Death drove his car around the united states assisting over 40 patients to take the own lives physician aid in dying has been a topic which has sparked controversy (DiManno). Although his actions did receive large amounts of negative feed back it did lead much of the population to the question of whether or not it should be legal for an individual to have medical assistance to take their life in certain situations such as terminal illness or chronic physical pain. Through the years this idea has adopted the name physicianaid in dying. Personally I believe that we should, because when it comes to our body we should have 100% control over what we choose to do with it. Even if that is choosing to take our own life in times of great physical pain and suffering. Although physician aid in dying is already legal in five states, I believe that it should be legal in the remainder of the states in the United States. While I know that the thought of a doctor prescribing a lethal dosage of a medication to help a patient to take their life can be disturbing to some people it should not be illegal. If that were the case eventually it could be illegal to get tattoos or have hair cuts that may be disturbing to some people. The way I see it is that if PAD is really what someone wants it should be an option to them no matter what state they live in. The thought of someone suffering from a ... In the beginning scenes, the use of high key lighting lets the audience know that there is no danger. Towards the rising action on the other hand, low key lighting is used to show that danger is near or is already happening. Yet in the time following the Han and until the Sui there were only one dynasty that ruled all of China the Jin and it lasted only till the death of its ruler. This has lead to the time period being given different names and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this period saw China broken into a clear north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties controlling the southern part of the country. Others will divide the time period into three separate eras, these being the Three State or Kingdom Period, the Western Jin, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The first refers to the three kingdoms that formed after the fall of the Han also called the three kingdom period. The western Jin was the name of the brief uniting dynasty the eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern Dynasties refers strictly to time after the fall of the Jin until the rise of the Sui. Some countries have presidents, some have kings and queens, and some have gods. Julius Caesar was a man that loves power. He loved thinking of himself above everyone else, and everyone else adored him. The towns people cheered for him and decorated the streets with his name. What Caesar didn t know was that there are some people that didn t want him to come to power, and some of them might just be the Roman Tribunes. A Tribune was a Roman official whose job was to protect the people against oppression by the patricians or nobles. The word tribune is connected to the word tribe. In Latin the word for Tribune was tribunus, which means an officer connected with a tribe, or someone that represented a tribe for specific purposes. Originally, a tribune represented a tribe of rulers then later it became known as a variety of officers. The tribunes were at first one, but their number was increased ultimately to ten. The two most important were the tribunes of plebs and the military tribunes. A Roman Tribune was a very high position. In certain ranks you had certain jobs, for example if my ranking was Tribune my job was to assist the legion commander, the Primus Pilus. If my ranking was Tribunus Cohortis I was the commander of a Cohort military unit. Being a Roman Tribune gave you the right to veto laws, command portions of the army, and eventually call ... For centuries man has sought out ways to cleanse his soul, to repent for his sins and possibly secure his passage into paradise, all evoked by the fear of eternal damnation and pain. The early 20th centuryphilosopher and existentialist writer Jean Paul Sartresaw life as an endless realm of suffering and a complete void of nothingness. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Common in all religions, sin exists almost as a written law. For Christians it exists in the Ten Commandments, the seven deadly sins. For Buddhists, it is the crimes against karma. Sartre, however, does not address what prerequisites his hell contains. By conventional standards, its seems that his characters rightfully deserve to be placed in hell. While Estelle s hands were tarnished with the murder of her own baby, both Garcin and Inez are indirectly responsible for the death of those close to them. For Sartre, all three characters are pathetic examples of humankind. Believing that human beings can never hope to understand why they are here, Sartre, like many existentialists, believes that each individual must choose a goal and follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of death and the ultimate meaninglessness of one s life. Nonetheless, Estelle, Garcin and Inez all exist with no real purpose and therefore are damned to suffer not only in their life, but their afterlife. Garcin may have been the closest to following a goal, but his act of fleeing from revolution and his cowardly death shows that he has no real passion. Estelle is the most superficial of the group, the one with least conviction. She simply uses people to her pleasure and herself as the object of their desire.
