Personal Responsibility Leads To Success Case Study
Samuel Cedeno
Gen/200
August 27, 2012
Instructor: Jennifer Smith
Personal Responsibility Leads to Success Even though a person taking on too many responsibilities
can lead to his or her downfall, personal responsibility can lead to success in higher education.
Because responsibility is the force that binds an individual to the course of action demanded by the
goal, personal responsibility can incur beneficial habits and admirable behaviors that will advocate
successful outcome. The state of New York once sought to raise $24 million in donations to give to
poor residents as an incentive to stay in school, stay at work, and stay on track (Traub, 2006). I will be
revealing some examples, to implement, of personal responsibility and ... Show more content on

In this case study 554 students divided into teams in accordance with their performance. Equal parts
high, average, and low performers. The teams engaged in class time, team discussions, and test, over
three semesters with one variance the grading. In semester one, the team received 10 points bonus if
the team raised their final grade by one point. In semester one, they made six points for team
improvement and four points for individual improvement. In semester three, the students collected 10
points, but only if they accomplished both individual, and group improvement. The group would not
collectively receive any points. This study found when high performance students benefited
individually they improved, but when only the group benefited their scores suffered. The high
performance students used their time reviewing material and helping the low performers understand
the material. They lost their own time for review and henceforth their grades suffered.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Personal responsibility is composed of many tools that will allow an individual or team
to succeed. Simply because it is, the force that keeps an individual on course with the end goal, using
these tools will enable inherent success. The practice of setting goals can help one to keep focused on
the task a hand, by knowing what goal a person is working at.
Conclusion
Combining planning with a time schedule, as I have, increases the effectiveness of both

The Intrauterine Device ( Iud )
IV. Intrauterine devices: The Intrauterine Device (IUD) is the most commonly utilized reversible
contraceptive method in the world. Types of IUDs: 1 Unmedicated IUDs: The IUDs have lippes Loop,
made of plastic (polyethylene) impregnated with barium sulfate. They are still utilized allover the
world except in the United States. Flexible stainless steel rings are utilized widely only in China and
not elsewhere. The other unmedicated devices are condemned as they cause side effects such as Pelvic
Inflammatory Disease (PID), bleeding, pain, higher failure rate and expulsion rate. 2 Medicated IUDs:
a Copper IUDs: The first copper IUD was presented with 200 to 250mm2 of wire. The TCu 200 and
the Multiload 250 are still available except in the United States. The more recent copper IUDs have
more copper, and part of the copper is in the form of solid tubular sleeves, rather than the wire, and
this augmented the efficacy and extending their lifespan. The TCu 380A is in the United States, and
the TCu 220C, The Nova T, and the Multiload 375 are the types of IUDs represented in the rest of the
world. The latest generations of IUDs in China comprises a stainless steel ring with copper wire that
also releases indomethacin, which is very effectual with a mininal expulsion rate and less blood loss, a
V shaped copper IUD, and a copper IUD shaped like the uterine cavity. The Saf T is copper IUD
utilized only in Switzerland. Figure (10 ): Copper devices The TCu 380A is a T shaped device

Loan Of Loans Direct And Loan
You know you need a loan, but you don t quite know where to go for assistance. That dilemma faces
many people in the world. So many loan products are available that a consumer can get caught up and
confused by fancy wording and jargon. One term that pops up frequently in the financial realm is
loans direct. Loans direct is a description of a loan type. The term means that the loan comes directly
from the lender to the borrower. Consumers have the option to go through loans direct or to conduct
comparisons through a third party company. Benefits and disadvantages exist with both processes.
The Benefit of Seeking Loans Direct
Consumers can seek assistance from direct lenders or brokers for the cash they need. Loans direct is a
term that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consumer works with one company, and that person knows what type of loan he or she is
borrowing.
What You Need to Know about Loans Direct
Most direct loans are for short periods of time. For example, the average lifespan of a payday loan is
about 14 days. The consumer usually has until the very next payday to give the proceeds back to the
lender. Instalment loans offer consumers a little more time than title loans offer them. Instalment loans
last for about 45 to 90, but some companies will stretch them out to a one year period. A title loan lasts
approximately 30 days. Lenders do not intend direct loans to be long term financing options. They
intend them to be temporary help for consumers who get into financial trouble.
Qualifying for Direct Advances
A consumer has to be at least 18 years of age to qualify for any short term advance because minors
cannot sign contracts. Different loan types have different criteria when it comes to earnings and
references. A title loan company may ask for up to seven references, and a payday lender may not ask
for any. A title lender may not ask for employment information since it has the vehicle title as
collateral. The payday lender will ask for employment information because it receives its money from
the borrower s paycheck.
Payday loan borrowers will most likely have to have a bank account in the area in which they live. A
bank account is necessary for the lender to send the requested funds.

Sweden’s Maternal Child Care Policy
Sweden s Maternal Child Care Policy
Maternal and Child care policies are very important in every country since the future of every country
is based on the children that are brought into this world. Behavioral and cognitive development is
crucial with the timing and continuity of care within the family, before during and after the mother s
pregnancy. This is why policies were made in order to assist and support maternal and child care
arrangements.
Sweden s maternal and child care policy factors under their extensive family policy. While effective

In Sweden the health care system is made up of a national, county, and municipal level. The
municipalities take care of the child care programs which are supported by money granted by the
central government, local taxation, and modest parent fees. All three levels of the system are
represented by political bodies who decide on how to finance each policy, the amount of taxation and
the amount of fees.
While the national level is responsible for regulations, law, evaluating, and monitoring, the county
level specifically looks out for the health care services as well as public financing. Swedish health care
is mostly financed by the county council tax. In Sweden, they have primary health care, county
hospitals, as well as regional hospitals. Each care coincides with another and has a specific area of
responsibility in the health care system. This system was done to provide appropriate level of service
and to best utilize their resources. Health care in Sweden is mostly provided by public organizations
while private care is rare.

How Does The Help Change The Whole World
That one question. That one question that changes everything. That one question that changes your
whole world. This is what happened in The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The Help takes place in the
1960 s in a very racist little town. Skeeter, a white privileged lady, speaks up and writes a book
exposing racial injustices. She writes a book with the help of black maids to bring about change.
Change begins with a whisper is shown as Celia Foote finds confidence in herself to accept her faults.
Celia found a confidence in herself that she never knew she had. She had gone through many struggles
growing up in Sugar Ditch and then thinking her husband didn t love her. Celia felt like she wasn t
good enough because she wasn t the perfect wife or because she couldn t have children. Celia, at the
end of the book, finally accepts that she can t have children and that Johnny is ok with it. Minnie also
helps her build her cooking skills, but also just helps her as a friend. When Johnny finally finds out
about Minnie (and Celia knows he knows), Celia has a giant weight lifted off her shoulder. She finally
changes the way she lives. She actually starts getting out of bed and accepts that nobody will ever call

This is a change I would like to see in our school like Skeeter wanted to change people actions and
thoughts. School start time is so very early in the morning. People have early bird classes, early
practices, early meetings, early everything. If the start time of school was pushed back you would
have more time to fit in those activities without having to wake up at 5 am. Students focus better when
they have more sleep and test scores would improve. Many students have so many activities at night,
they can t just go to bed earlier. If school started even just a half hour later, that would be a half hour
more they could be alert and attentive in school. Changing the school start time would be a great

Diabetes Mellitus Essay
Diabetes Mellitus
Is a multisystem disease related to abnormal insulin production, impaired insulin utilization, or both.
Diabetes Mellitus is a serious health problem throughout the world. It is the 5th leading cause of death
in the U.S. It is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, adult blindness, and nontraumatic lower
limb amputations.
Etiology and Pathophysiology
Current theories link the cause of diabetes, singly or in combination, to genetic, autoimmune, viral,
and environmental factors (obesity, stress). Regardless of its cause, diabetes is primarily a disorder of
glucose metabolism related to absent or insufficient insulin supplies and/or poor utilization of the
insulin that is available. The two most common types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rise in plasma insulin after a meal stimulates storage of glucose as glycogen in liver and muscle,
inhibits gluconeogenesis, enhances fat deposition in adipose tissue, and increases protein synthesis.
The fall in insulin level during normal overnight fasting facilitates the release of stored glucose from
the liver, protein form muscle, and fat from adipose tissue. For this reason insulin is known as the
anabolic or storage hormone.
Skeletal muscle and adipose tissue have specific receptors for insulin and are considered insulin
dependent tissues. Other tissues (brain, liver, blood cells) do not directly depend on insulin for glucose
transport but require an adequate glucose supply for normal function. Although liver cells are not
considered insulin dependent tissue, insulin receptor sites on the liver facilitate the hepatic uptake of
glucose and its conversion to glycogen.
Type I Diabetes Mellitus
Formally known as quot;juvenile onset quot; or quot;insulin dependent quot; diabetes, type I diabetes
mellitus most often occur in people who are under 30 years of age, with a peak onset between ages 11
and 13. The rate of type I diabetes is 1.5 to 2 times higher in whites than nonwhites, with a similar
incidence among males and females. Typically, it is seen in people with a lean body type, although it
can occur in people who are overweight.

Essay Comparing Kurtz And Macbeth
The Horror!
Osica Pasachhe
The conditions and antecedents that caused Kurtz and Macbeth s deterioration are different. Kurtz was
forced to face the evil of his unraveling, inner primitive self when in the jungle, whereas Macbeth
encounters evil in his mission to murder Duncan and become king. Similarly, both Kurtz and Macbeth
begin their story as honorable and admired men but as their story unfolds they both lose sight of
themselves and fall into the arms of evil. Their actions (once they obtain power) are also incredibly
alike; both make comparable sacrifices to fulfill their goal, and both have an impressive ambition that
leads them to their success but also to their downfall. In the play Macbeth and the novella Heart of
Darkness, Macbeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that the first part of his prophecy had already come true, which enabled him to believe that what the
witches said may hold truth. Learning this instills a treacherous thought in his mind and he begins to
imagine being king, which enables him a sense of what it would feel like to be in position of such
grand power. Once he had his taste, Macbeth hungered for more, becoming addicted on the high of
being powerful. He was driven by his lust for power and eventually acceded to murdering his cousin,

HAS 510 Dr. David Tataw May 3, 2015 Value of Healthcare Professionals Healthcare is getting
gradually complex around the world. The need for technological development, economic support,
demographics changes and the study of diseases are shifting at a fast speed. There had been numerous
labors in describing collective capabilities and values within the healthcare organizations. It is
necessary for learning and training programs to be regulated based on the needs of the humanities they
support. Therefore, the institutions that are designing and delivering those activities must take
responsibility for the products they manufacture for the use of the society. Hence, Academic
institutions that are in charge of educating healthcare professionals together with their various
stakeholders must interact in collaboration to create actual and proficient strategies that will promote
suitable culture in the healthcare systems. Current medical education process has its origins in the
European institutions of higher learning that customarily cherished academic freedom, sovereignty

The Pros And Cons Of Evolutionary Psychology
The belief that various living organisms emerged from previous organisms throughout the history of
the earth can be associated with the term evolution. One can therefore assume that there is a vast
likelihood that prehistoric evolutionary processes have a significant impact on human behavior today.
This paper hypothesizes that the human mind has information processing mechanisms that are known
as adaptions which have developed over time. It is believed that these adaptions were formed by
natural selection in ancestral surroundings and have specialised functions that shape behaviour to
allow one to solve specific adaptive challenges. Thus evolutionary psychologists suggest that

Evolutionary psychologists therefore look for a theoretical combination of all the different scientific
disciplines examining human s behaviours and beliefs under this biological view of a single, universal
panhuman design (1992). Therefore, evolutionary psychology can be described as a new theory based
hypothesis that combines the current principals of psychology with the main principals of evolutionary
biology (Buss, 1996). This study will critique evolutionary theory under the subsequent headings.
The origins and background of the theory
The concept of evolutionary psychology can be thought to have originated from sociobiology. Wilson
(1975) suggested that socio biology was the most important factor in the process of starting to relate
evolution to behaviour. Sociobiology is a theory that stems back to the 1970 s and can be defined as
the study of the genetic origin of social behavior. Sociobiologists concentrate on how behavior
patterns might be built in or genetically influenced. However Social behavior stems from evolutionary
process. Thus this field of research suggests that several methods of social interaction have resulted
from evolution. This was concluded when Darwin (1859) pointed out that the theory of evolution

Impressionism And Contribution To Edouard Manet
Edouard Manet
Numerous art historians believe that the birth of modern art can be traced back to Edouard Manet.
Countless artists of note since Manet s time have been influenced by the legacy he left behind. Manet
completely deviated from the established artistic traditions, and invented a entirely new type of
painting. He was thought to be the frontrunner of the avant garde.
He introduced two new features to painting that changed art forever; the adaptation of the image into a
personal individual vision, which was completely at odds with existing art practices and the
recognition of the fundamental pretense of painting. Manet forged the between Realism and
Impressionism, which in turn encouraged many artists, in particular, the Impressionists ... Show more

Manet felt that modern art should concern itself with everyday life. Modern artists could do this by
moving through the city, observing life as it occurs.
Manet moved to a new studio in 1861 in the district of Batignolles near an area known as Petit
Pologne. Petit Pologne was home to the underprivileged who were being ejected by the redevelopment
taking place in Paris under Hausmann.
Manet was already conscious of Diderot s ideas about realistic subject matter in art and of Couture s
enlightened subjects of workers, laundresses and trains.
Baudelaire s philosophy, from revolting against tradition to the unearthing of modern life, craving
something new, is the location for the painter of modern life, the streets of Paris in all their
magnificence. The artist observes the world all the while staying hidden,a voyeur. His backdrop of
choice is the city crowds. We can easily get from Baudelaire s philosophies about modern art to Manet
as a man and a painter. He put on canvas what Baudelaire put in words.
Manet saw the role of a painter as more than just a creator of images. During his time in Couture s
studio he aquired skills in stdio art but also in portraying

for even those who check credibility must also be checked, and the platform by which satirical news is

Professional news stations are susceptible to just as many mistakes as any other station, which must be

Neutral Bathrooms In Schools
In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea that
would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the school

I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose between two

Economic Sanctions Advantages And Disadvantages
Economic Sanctions are a way of punishing errant countries which is more acceptable than bombing
or invading them. It s a way to sway the target government to change a policy. Some Sanctions include
limiting export or import trade and preventing transfers of money involving citizens or the
government of the target. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries acting together or
unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990 there were 116 sanctions
that were imposed on countries and ⅔ of these failed to achieve their stated goals. The cost of the
country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when the country is acting unilaterally.
It is estimated that in 1995 imposing sanctions on other countries cost the American economy over 15
billion dollars in lost exports and 200 thousand in lost jobs in export industries. (Evidence on the
Costs and Benefits of Economic Sanctions) Trade Sanctions are a lot more effective with more
sanctioners but is harder to keep everyone together. Think about this in terms of basic economics 101.
This says that when demand falls, then prices fall as well. One example is Iranian oil. The West is
trying to change Iranian nuclear behavior by imposing sanctions on this country and restricting the oil
trade from Iran. If there s a bunch of countries no longer buying Iranian oil then the price of Iranian oil
will go down. Since no one is buying their oil then the demand is going down and less people will

People Have Many Ideas About Developing Video Games
Argument People have many ideas about developing video games. Though, I agree with some of those
things up to a point; I disagree when they say that making games will be boring, hard, and/or
repetitive. I am here to say, that is not entirely true. Silas Marner Silas marner appears in the doorway
carrying Godfrey s own child. GOdfrey feels a sudden terror that the woman might not actually be
dead. What can we deduce about Godfrey from his actions/thoughts here? His fundamental weakness
as a person who would rather evade responsibility. He finds he cannot part with it. Thoughts jumping
between hope and fear about the two outcomes of the situation. Compare Godfrey with Silas here:

In the research phase, gathering evidence against your argument will help you refute
counterarguments. What creates your specific style (what separates one of you from another when it
comes to presenting ideas)? A writer s style is what sets his or her writing apart and makes it unique.
Style is the way writing is dressed up (or down) to fit the specific context, purpose, or audience. Word
choice, sentence fluency, and the writer s voice all contribute to the style of a piece of writing. How a
writer chooses words and structures sentences to achieve a certain effect is also an element of style.
Style is not a matter of right and wrong but of what is appropriate for a particular setting and audience.
Why does knowing the purpose of a presentation help in the process of creating it? Authors and
audiences both have a wide range of purposes for communicating. The importance of purpose in
rhetorical situations cannot be overstated. It is the varied purposes of a rhetorical situation that
determine how an author communicates a text and how audiences receive a text. Rhetorical situations
rarely have only one purpose. Purposes for Discussions: To inform To persuade To describe To

Chennai Abstract Looking back at the history of the clutch facing, it becomes apparent that the
technological advancement of the clutch has had very little impact on clutch facing technology. Earlier
asbestos was used as friction material in single plate dry friction clutch. Asbestos is hazardous to
human health and detrimental to environment. So recently kevlar49/Epoxy material is used as friction
material. But it has its own disadvantages. So it is time to consider use of any other environment
friendly and non hazardous friction material as clutch facing material. One option is to use Natural

Clutch Facing Clutch facing is the heart of clutch assembly which actually transmits power from
engine to transmission or drive shaft. It is a friction surface which binds face plate of fly wheel and
pressure plate of clutch assembly. A major benefit to using a lining or facing is that it prevents metal to
metal contact within the clutch set, resulting in less wear and tear on the clutch components. Clutch
facings tend to have mid level coefficients of friction, and are responsible for removing most of the
clutch vibrations from the engine. They also aid in allowing engines to achieve high speeds without
damaging the components. Fig.1 Clutch Facing 3. Desirable Characteristics of Dry Clutch Facings
Clutch friction linings are subjected to severe rubbing so that generation of heat in relatively short
periods takes place. Therefore, the lining material should have a combination of the following

The Gods In Geoffrey Philp s The Cattle Of The Sun God
As the suitors, Odysseus and most of the people in the Greek world could tell you it is a lot better to
have the gods on your side than as your enemy. Odysseus journey home in the Odyssey was a great
example of how the gods can affect your life. One the reasons his journey took so long was because of
the gods intervening. Although without the help of a few gods, he would not have gotten home at all.
In the image, it shows a ship far away from home. It also shows waves that signify Poseidon not
letting Odysseus go home. The image is very good at showing the hopelessness the ship in. Also,
Geoffrey Philp, in his poem The Cattle of the Sun God shows a similar point of the power and what
can happen if the gods are betrayed. In Philip s writing, it shows only how awful the gods can be. It is
about Odysseus s crew making a dumb decision and the gods acting as their own system of Karma. In
the poem, Philip uses the consequences of the mortals mistake to demonstrate the power of the gods.
The mortals in Greek world have learned about how awful it is to have a god as your enemy. In the
Odyssey the main character, Odysseus makes a brutal mistake that got a god to be his enemy. In book

Disadvantages Of Induction Cooking
What is Induction Cooking?
An induction plate consists of an electronic generator that transforms the mains frequency into a high
frequency and an induction coil that creates a magnetic field under the glass when a container whose
base is made from a ferromagnetic material is present.
The magnetic waves produced release heat directly to the base of the container. In the absence of this
ferromagnetic material, the phenomenon does not happen and the machine stops automatically.
The glass plate serves solely as a support for the container and only gets warm.
Advantages of Induction
Induction Cooking is Safer
They don t burn. Since heat is created in the pan itself, the induction plates don t get that hot. No
flame means no grease fires, and no gas means no gas leaks.
Also, thanks to it detector function, the plate automatically detects the presence of pans with
ferromagnetic bases, instantly switching the equipment on or off. This makes it a lot more difficult to
burn yourself as you pour your sautéed vegetables onto a serving plate. It makes it easier to get those
vegetables just right, too...
Induction Offers Greater Precision Cooking
Induction allows you to turn the power and heat up and down instantly. Induction cooktops are as
responsive as gas to a turn of the dial, and they ve got another thing going for them, too: more settings.
Some induction hobs have up to 20 settings for setting the exact desired temperature.
Control to rival gas cooking means induction

Femininity In Frankenstein Essay
Through the lack of female characters, and the dominance of goal oriented males, Shelley
demonstrates through Frankenstein that femininity, as defined by Michelle Miller, is both not a
necessity, as well as a crucial component in society.
The women in Frankenstein have a lot of femininity, as they are caring and compassionate and fit
Miller s definition, but due to their minor presence and use in the storyline, Shelley illustrates that she
doesn t believe that the world needs more femininity. When reading Frankenstein, one cannot help but
notice that the female characters have little substance compared to the male characters. This may have
been a result of the era in which she wrote: one in which females were treated inferior to males. ...

Because they are used for nothing more than their looks and seen very little in the plot, Shelley clearly
demonstrates her belief that femininity isn t needed to create a balanced society. On the other hand,
Mary Shelley also highly supports the need for increased femininity in the world, shown through the
inclusion of Henry, the female monster, and even through the absence of female characters. Miller
described femininity as a personality trait, not just a characteristic confined to females or males. Henry
personifies femininity and supports Miller s explanation that femininity is not just for women. Henry,
deeply read books of chivalry and romance. He composed heroic songs...and was so full of kindness
and tenderness (39/40). He is focused on experiences, like travelling through Europe and learning
Oriental languages, while Victor is focused on chasing his creature. Although Henry comes to a tragic
end, his life is much happier than Victor s because he did not confine his life to fixating exclusively on
results. Shelley also confirms that the world demands increased femininity by adding the possibility of
a female creature. Victor creating her mirrors injecting greater femininity into the world. He created
the original creature by himself and after seeing the damage he caused, agreed to make him a female
partner; After a long pause of reflection, I concluded that the justice due both to him and my fellow

State Terrorism As A Form Of Political Violence
State terrorism is defined as, terrorism committed by a national government, inside of its national
borders and directed at its own people and sometimes visitors (Taylor Swanson, 2016 P. 162). Most
military dictorships tend to maintain the power through terror; this paralyzes society through violence
and threats. The scary thing about state terrorism is that the states themselves have the power to use
violence in many ways that us as civilians cannot. The main purpose of state terrorism is to install this
fear in citizens, this way they consolidate the living regimes power, and keep maintain the control over
the country s population. However, some do not see state terrorism as terrorism, if not just as a form of

Malocclusion Can Affect One s Teeth Research Paper
First impressions last a lifetime. When making a first impression an attractive smile conveys openness
and confidence and inspires trust. When looking at a commercial and seeing someone with a bright
beautiful smile, one is more likely to purchase the product he or she is selling or be more interested in
what is being said. One s teeth are the center of the face and for the most part are the first thing that
people see when they look at a person. In fact, behavioral researchers have found that a smiling face is

A number of studies over the years have confirmed that severe malocclusion can actually be a social
handicap. Social responses, conditioned by appearance of the teeth, can severely affect an individual s
whole adaptation to life. One of the most significant effects of a malocclusion is its psycho social
impact on the patient. Without a doubt poor dental appearance can have a negative impact on children.
A study conducted by Shaw, E. found that children were picked on more about their teeth than
anything else (Scheffel 124). A person s dental appearance can have a large effect on the way they feel
about themselves. Children with malocclusion have been proven to have more social and emotional
issues than those with well aligned teeth. With this in mind, a patient s perceptions and expectations
regarding their appearance play a significant role in treatment planning. Facial aesthetic perception
differs among individuals and is often influenced by their own experiences, society and culture
(Nagalakshmi 162). So it is important when making a treatment plan that the orthodontist does not
make suggestions based only on what they think is acceptable. The orthodontist must do an
assessment of the patients quality of life when choosing the brace type and/or appliances needed
during the treatment

The Human Spirit In The Moon Is Down By John Steinbeck
Everyone, including some of the greatest and strongest beings known to mankind, has the ability to

human spirit. The human spirit allows for the ability of overcome and remain strong in the midst of
adversity. In the novel The Moon is Down, the play Antigone and in the poem Invictus, the human
spirit gives the characters the ability to overcome oppression and have strength. Although each work is

The Battle Of Chancellorsville Campaign
During the American Civil War, the United States was plagued with conflict, struggle, and copious
amounts of spilled blood. Furthermore, countless battles were fought to decide the fate of slavery and
the Union as a whole. However, one of these battles in particular, the Chancellorsville Campaign,
should definitely be one of interest. Taking place after the horror of Fredericksburg, an event in which
the Union Army of the Potomac failed to take the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1862 (Bowery
and Doss 27), the Chancellorsville campaign lasted from May 1 to May 5, 1863. It was an attempt by
the Union to destroy the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia that resulted in disaster for both
sides. ( Battle of Chancellorsville, Brittanica) As a matter of fact, the Chancellorsville Campaign was
such a significant development in the course of the Civil War that many happenings in this battle have
affected both the rest of this era and the years beyond. To begin with, there were three men who
played major roles in this battle, with the first being Robert Edward Lee, a Confederate general. Born
on January 19, 1807, Lee was the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, the most capable
army in the South. ( Robert E. Lee, Brittanica) By Lee s side was another Confederate general known
as Thomas Stonewall Jackson. Indeed, Jackson was among the Civil War s most skilled tacticians,
earning the moniker Stonewall after his success at the First Battle of Bull Run in 1861.

Summary Of Gary Stull s Crude Currency
Crude Currency by Gary Stull is an intriguing novel filled with action and adventure. The third book
of the John Lock series, the story is written in the third person perspective and centers on John s point
of view. John Lock is a cruise ship detective with an uncanny ability to spout off detailed facts of
famous places around Europe. One of John s friend, who also works on the cruise ship, asks him to
find his missing brother, August Wolfe, an European Union (EU) negotiator. Vowing to do anything he
can to find Wolfe, John is joined by Rachel, an EU investigator and his former lover. Together, they
encounter many dangers and face off deadly criminals as they figure out how to save Wolfe. As he
investigates further into the matter, he learns that Wolfe s dealings with corrupt government officials
are not what they seem to be. Is August Wolfe actually working with these corrupt officials, or is he a
victim of fraud? The author vividly described each of the characters, and the dialogue between the
characters flowed easily. This made it easy to distinguish the personalities of each character. John has
many faults, but he tries to do good and see justice served. However, John is willing to do anything to
right wrongs which causes a few problems between him and Rachel. Rachel is the exact opposite of
John. She is cautious and opposed to killing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the book, John takes care of a problem that has been causing trouble for the cruise
ship. I like how the author included this subplot in the story because it gives you a good idea of John s
character. Not only does John have to find Wolfe, but his older sister needs his help in dealing with a
strange note that she received right before her husband was hit by a car. This made the plot more
complex and made the novel even more intriguing to read. The descriptions of places that he visited
were described very well. You can tell author knows a lot about these

Examples Of A Timeless Theme
A timeless theme is not only a general observation that provides insight on life; it also constantly
applies despite the time in history. No matter the period in time, people can always relate to the fact
that the presence of family can make even the underprivileged seem wealthy. The timeless theme of
family can be observed in the play A Christmas Carol , the movie A Diva s Christmas Carol as well as
the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas . Each of these literary examples helps to remind us of the
importance of family as well as the true meaning of happiness. Family is a powerful force that glues
us back together when we fall apart. It supports us and makes us feel like we are a structurally sound
building. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when observing Scrooge s character we notice how he is extremely wealthy but he has
no compassion for others and pushes his family away. When Scrooge is at his own house despite the
enormous size, and the fact that Scrooge is wealthy it is still not filled with love, warmth, and the
things that one would normally expect wealth to bring. Rather it is empty, cold and almost life less. He
spends his evenings either withering away in his home or working in his office to the break of dawn.
This gives us a reminder that money really isn t the solution to everyone s problems because even with
an immense amount of wealth, Scrooge s heart will never be full with joy as long as he maintains life
in its current state. To illustrate the theme of family even more, in contrast we can see that even with
no money, the Cratchit family is still extremely happy. Their wealth comes from family and not from
coins. Even though they live in poverty and do not have much food they still appreciate the family that
surrounds them. People often let the power of money cloud judgements, letting it bring them down but
that is not how the Cratchits live their lives. Despite the fact that their son is sick with a potentially

Mustang Experience
What do I mean by the mustang is made up of sensation? A few things. The first is anytime someone
wants to describe something, they usually describe it by their sensations what they perceive to be true
about the object. Very rarely will someone describe an object by what the object is literally without
using sensation. Suppose someone was asked to describe what a table was like. They would describe it
most likely by feeling it, looking at it, and maybe picking it up. While the object is physical, they
would describe it by what their sensations of touch and sight perceive. Even if there are two identical
tables, and one is asked to give a report of what they are like, he or she will not say that the tables are
the same. Yes, they are made of the same material, look the same, have the same color, and same
weight, but the table A is not table B. They are different physical objects each taking up different
places in the space they are in. The second is someone was asked to describe what a strawberry
smoothie tastes like. They would describe it by what their sense of tastes tells them about this
strawberry smoothie. Like the tables, if someone were to order to identical smoothies, they are not the
same thing. They cannot be the same thing because there again, two objects taking up ... Show more

The reason I included the word complete is to ensure even after the last part of our mustang is
removed and replaced by a new one, our mustang remains the original mustang. The reason I believe
this to be true is because of the sensation premise I presented above. Given that the orignal parts of the
mustang are removed and replaced with new ones is not enough to say that the original is gone. The
only way that he original is gone is when the who object composed of sensation is gone. That is, the
first mustang is burned and no longer in

Taste Of One Book
The first books now called scrolls were created as chronicles to document events which occurred in
history. As time passed by the ideology of books has changed from chronicles to stories or significal
events that occurred in history this has then altered until the books had a literary purpose of provoking
reader s emotions. Taste of one is the crucial factor of creating a certain perception of the book, but
this is often biased because a taste isn t allowed to be created. The discussion of a book depends on
various factors such as the author of the book, the sequel of the book or a literary critics review of the
book. Book discussion plays a major role in creating a general consensus throughout an audience,
however concepts vary because each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, taste is misleading because it is affected by a large amounts of factors with the two crucial being
the author of the book and also the review written a literary critic. Both of these can be rid of, but
unfortunately both of these factors alter the readers view of the book even before he begins to read the
book he is being forced the idea of what he can expect from the book, but this is not good because the
taste sensor of the reader is redirected into and indecisive and emotionless direction because he may
view the correct theory behind the story, however his brain does not comply with the reasoning and

The Monster of Circumstance Essay
The Monster of Circumstance
Imagine two sisters living in the same household both have grown up with the same parents, in the
same place, and under the same conditions. Unfortunately for the sisters, their family has developed a
pattern: The issues of the previous generation have been passed down with the next generation,
creating a legacy of substance abuse, an unstable home environment, suicide, and mental illness. In
this setting, the sisters must react to the troubles they witness around them daily, for their parents and
other family are unable to shield the girls from the fallout of their emotional instability. One of the
sisters is able to escape the pattern of her ancestors and thrives despite the challenges she faces in her

Frankenstein s monster begins his life full of hope, displaying care for other people and a desire for
knowledge despite the abandonment and confusion he feels. Somewhere along the road of his life,
however, the creature s pain and loneliness damage his internal being with violent results. At what
point did the dark forces of his outside world become too much to endure? Could he have ignored his
reality and continued to live in hope of a better time? Furthermore, how can we apply the creature s
struggle to humanity?
Circumstances or events in a person s life can affect him or her in a multitude of ways and at a
multitude of times. At the beginning of the book, Frankenstein s monster is alone and confused, and
yet he feels nothing but a desire to live fully and with a good heart. The creature s explanation is
simple: As yet I looked upon crime as a distant evil; benevolence and generosity were ever present
before me, inciting within me a desire to become an actor in the busy scene where so many admirable
qualities are called forth and displayed (130). The creature is referring to his time watching the
cottagers, whom he observed and admired from afar for a time at the beginning of his life. He sees
only the good in these people and thus looks on the world and his life from a positive point of view.
He claims that crime was but a distant

The Road to Bankruptcy of Detroit City Essays
The inevitable is no less a shock because it is inevitable ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Founded in 1701 by nearly 100 French settlers, Pontchartrain du Detroit was not doomed to
bankruptcy. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian Border and the Detroit River and
rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense, was a city established on lands destined to prosper.
Turning into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom in both
population and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship building
industries. It wasn t until auto manufacturing renaissance initiated with the founding of Henry Ford
Co. in 1910 that Detroit began it s nearly 100 year long descent ... Show more content on

The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry. The expansion of
the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors led the charge. In addition to
dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely responsible for the success of local business
throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers towards the auto companies themselves, and the subsequent
services provided to the auto workers and their families composed the majority of Detroit business.
The rapid expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization with the city limits
of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit. The decentralization of
industry had profound effects on the geography and on the population of the city. The movement of
jobs out of the city accelerated the process of suburbanization, as autoworkers who could move
followed their jobs. This trend is demonstrated by Census data, showing that following the creating of
new auto plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the total population dropping by nearly 300,0000
citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization, the auto industry suffering from international
competition and rising oil prices, was unable to sustain the levels of economic output seen in years
prior; and as a result, became a less desirable place to live for both workers looking to relocate and
current residents.

The Physical Importance Of Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor recreation, but more specifically a place attachment that can be associated with outdoor
recreation, has had a huge impact on my life. Throughout my childhood, my family and I would
constantly travel to many outdoor recreation locations including Myrtle Beach, Pinery Provincial
Park, and St. Jacobs Farmers Market. These places hold special meaning and an emotional bond for
me, because I associate them with youthfulness and happiness. While everybody views place
differently, people form emotional attachments and beliefs of these places based on different
specifications. According to Williams and Stewart (1998), individuals may feel a special connection to
a place based on its social or personal history, scenic beauty, or spiritual meaning (p. 22). To truly
understand the meaning of place and the importance of outdoor recreation, I recently took part in four
separate experiential activities at St. Jacobs Farmers Market in Waterloo, Ontario. After partaking in
four outdoor experiential episodes at St. Jacobs Farmers Market, I decided to create a time capsule of
my experience for people to open fifty years from now. The time capsule included post cards, photos
of my experience, and a few physical components that I found represented the market well and
represented the importance of outdoor recreation. One of the physical components was a maple sugar
candy to represent how maple was an important staple to Canadians, and how procuring maple syrup
is an activity that can

This unique era transformed and continues to transform Canada through occurrences such as the Great
Canadian Flag Debate, the Quiet Revolution and through the occurrence known as Trudeaumania. No
other decade has transformed Canada quite like the Sixties, it is due this that the Sixties is the most
significant decade in Canada s vast history in terms of transforming or changing the country.
The historical occurrence known as the Great Canadian Flag Debate brought major changes to
Canada. Prior to Canada adopting its current sovereign state flag, a number of big events encouraged
Canadians to think about what it meant to be a Canadian, Canadians began to question their flag, they
wondered if their flag truly represented what it meant to be a Canadian, many people wanted a new
flag of Canada as they felt that their flag did not truly represent what it meant to be a Canadian. In the
year 1958, an extensive poll was taken in Canada, it related to the attitudes that adult Canadians had
towards the flag of their country; of those who expressed opinions, over 80% wanted a sovereign state
flag entirely different from that of any other country, and 60% wanted a sovereign state flag that
would showcase their beloved maple leaf. Some people liked this idea of adopting a new sovereign
state flag as they wanted their flag to be uniquely Canadian, however some people did not like the idea
as they were content with the flag that they had,

  • 2. Personal Responsibility Leads To Success Case Study Samuel Cedeno Gen/200 August 27, 2012 Instructor: Jennifer Smith Personal Responsibility Leads to Success Even though a person taking on too many responsibilities can lead to his or her downfall, personal responsibility can lead to success in higher education. Because responsibility is the force that binds an individual to the course of action demanded by the goal, personal responsibility can incur beneficial habits and admirable behaviors that will advocate successful outcome. The state of New York once sought to raise $24 million in donations to give to poor residents as an incentive to stay in school, stay at work, and stay on track (Traub, 2006). I will be revealing some examples, to implement, of personal responsibility and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case study 554 students divided into teams in accordance with their performance. Equal parts high, average, and low performers. The teams engaged in class time, team discussions, and test, over three semesters with one variance the grading. In semester one, the team received 10 points bonus if the team raised their final grade by one point. In semester one, they made six points for team improvement and four points for individual improvement. In semester three, the students collected 10 points, but only if they accomplished both individual, and group improvement. The group would not collectively receive any points. This study found when high performance students benefited individually they improved, but when only the group benefited their scores suffered. The high performance students used their time reviewing material and helping the low performers understand the material. They lost their own time for review and henceforth their grades suffered. Conclusion In conclusion, Personal responsibility is composed of many tools that will allow an individual or team to succeed. Simply because it is, the force that keeps an individual on course with the end goal, using these tools will enable inherent success. The practice of setting goals can help one to keep focused on the task a hand, by knowing what goal a person is working at. The consumer works with one company, and that person knows what type of loan he or she is borrowing. What You Need to Know about Loans Direct Most direct loans are for short periods of time. For example, the average lifespan of a payday loan is about 14 days. The consumer usually has until the very next payday to give the proceeds back to the lender. Instalment loans offer consumers a little more time than title loans offer them. Instalment loans last for about 45 to 90, but some companies will stretch them out to a one year period. A title loan lasts approximately 30 days. Lenders do not intend direct loans to be long term financing options. They intend them to be temporary help for consumers who get into financial trouble. Qualifying for Direct Advances A consumer has to be at least 18 years of age to qualify for any short term advance because minors cannot sign contracts. Different loan types have different criteria when it comes to earnings and references. A title loan company may ask for up to seven references, and a payday lender may not ask for any. A title lender may not ask for employment information since it has the vehicle title as collateral. The payday lender will ask for employment information because it receives its money from the borrower s paycheck. Payday loan borrowers will most likely have to have a bank account in the area in which they live. A bank account is necessary for the lender to send the requested funds. ... The rise in plasma insulin after a meal stimulates storage of glucose as glycogen in liver and muscle, inhibits gluconeogenesis, enhances fat deposition in adipose tissue, and increases protein synthesis. The fall in insulin level during normal overnight fasting facilitates the release of stored glucose from the liver, protein form muscle, and fat from adipose tissue. For this reason insulin is known as the anabolic or storage hormone. Skeletal muscle and adipose tissue have specific receptors for insulin and are considered insulin dependent tissues. Other tissues (brain, liver, blood cells) do not directly depend on insulin for glucose transport but require an adequate glucose supply for normal function. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries acting together or unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990 there were 116 sanctions that were imposed on countries and ⅔ of these failed to achieve their stated goals. The cost of the country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when the country is acting unilaterally. The Gods In Geoffrey Philp s The Cattle Of The Sun God As the suitors, Odysseus and most of the people in the Greek world could tell you it is a lot better to have the gods on your side than as your enemy. Odysseus journey home in the Odyssey was a great example of how the gods can affect your life. One the reasons his journey took so long was because of the gods intervening. Although without the help of a few gods, he would not have gotten home at all. In the image, it shows a ship far away from home. It also shows waves that signify Poseidon not letting Odysseus go home. The image is very good at showing the hopelessness the ship in. In Philip s writing, it shows only how awful the gods can be. It is about Odysseus s crew making a dumb decision and the gods acting as their own system of Karma. In the poem, Philip uses the consequences of the mortals mistake to demonstrate the power of the gods. The mortals in Greek world have learned about how awful it is to have a god as your enemy. • 29. Disadvantages Of Induction Cooking What is Induction Cooking? An induction plate consists of an electronic generator that transforms the mains frequency into a high frequency and an induction coil that creates a magnetic field under the glass when a container whose base is made from a ferromagnetic material is present. The magnetic waves produced release heat directly to the base of the container. In the absence of this ferromagnetic material, the phenomenon does not happen and the machine stops automatically. The glass plate serves solely as a support for the container and only gets warm. Advantages of Induction Induction Cooking is Safer They don t burn. The women in Frankenstein have a lot of femininity, as they are caring and compassionate and fit Miller s definition, but due to their minor presence and use in the storyline, Shelley illustrates that she doesn t believe that the world needs more femininity. Miller described femininity as a personality trait, not just a characteristic confined to females or males. Henry personifies femininity and supports Miller s explanation that femininity is not just for women. Henry, deeply read books of chivalry and romance. Social responses, conditioned by appearance of the teeth, can severely affect an individual s whole adaptation to life. One of the most significant effects of a malocclusion is its psycho social impact on the patient. Without a doubt poor dental appearance can have a negative impact on children. At the beginning of the book, Frankenstein s monster is alone and confused, and yet he feels nothing but a desire to live fully and with a good heart. The creature s explanation is simple: As yet I looked upon crime as a distant evil; benevolence and generosity were ever present before me, inciting within me a desire to become an actor in the busy scene where so many admirable qualities are called forth and displayed (130). • 47. The Road to Bankruptcy of Detroit City Essays The inevitable is no less a shock because it is inevitable ~ Jamaica Kincaid Founded in 1701 by nearly 100 French settlers, Pontchartrain du Detroit was not doomed to bankruptcy. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian Border and the Detroit River and rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense, was a city established on lands destined to prosper. Turning into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom in both population and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship building industries. The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry. The expansion of the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors led the charge. In addition to dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely responsible for the success of local business throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers towards the auto companies themselves, and the subsequent services provided to the auto workers and their families composed the majority of Detroit business. The rapid expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization with the city limits of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit. The decentralization of industry had profound effects on the geography and on the population of the city. The movement of jobs out of the city accelerated the process of suburbanization, as autoworkers who could move followed their jobs. This trend is demonstrated by Census data, showing that following the creating of new auto plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the total population dropping by nearly 300,0000 citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization, the auto industry suffering from international competition and rising oil prices, was unable to sustain the levels of economic output seen in years prior; and as a result, became a less desirable place to live for both workers looking to relocate and current residents. • 48. The Physical Importance Of Outdoor Recreation Outdoor recreation, but more specifically a place attachment that can be associated with outdoor recreation, has had a huge impact on my life. Throughout my childhood, my family and I would constantly travel to many outdoor recreation locations including Myrtle Beach, Pinery Provincial Park, and St. Jacobs Farmers Market. These places hold special meaning and an emotional bond for me, because I associate them with youthfulness and happiness. While everybody views place differently, people form emotional attachments and beliefs of these places based on different specifications. According to Williams and Stewart (1998), individuals may feel a special connection to a place based on its social or personal history, scenic beauty, or spiritual meaning (p. 22). To truly understand the meaning of place and the importance of outdoor recreation, I recently took part in four separate experiential activities at St. Jacobs Farmers Market in Waterloo, Ontario. After partaking in four outdoor experiential episodes at St. Jacobs Farmers Market, I decided to create a time capsule of my experience for people to open fifty years from now. The time capsule included post cards, photos of my experience, and a few physical components that I found represented the market well and represented the importance of outdoor recreation. One of the physical components was a maple sugar candy to represent how maple was an important staple to Canadians, and how procuring maple syrup is an activity that can ...
