The Treatment Of Cardiac Transplant Surgery
Cardiac transplant is a surgical procedure to replace the patient s diseased heart and replace it with a
healthy heart from a cadaver or lifeless donor. Most of the end stage heart failure patients are
undergoing these heart transplant surgery. Cardiac transplant surgery is performed in critical situation
to save the life of the human being who diagnosed as end stage heart failure. (NHLBI,2012). A Patient

The Importance Of Tenure In Education
Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably
guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their
duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at
the end of the day ending the tenure can be to a great degree troublesome.
Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being
terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual
inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that
educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators.
Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured
educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to
work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful,
less experienced instructors.
100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection
tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political impulses
of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives sensible
assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main callings to give

The Maze Runner, World War Z, The Hunger Games
Bravery Bravery is the theme that indicated in the texts The Maze Runner, Tomorrow When The War
Began, World War Z, The Hunger Games. These four texts has shown that sometimes it s a risk to
your own life to be brave. In the book The Maze Runner written by James Dashner, Thomas woke up
and finds himself amidst a group of men in large open spaces surrounded by huge concrete walls that
will lead him to the maze. It opens every morning and closes when the sun sets. Later in the book,
Minho and Alby (the two runners) went into the maze they didn t return on time as usual. People were
waiting for them at the gate including Thomas. At the last second they finally came out, however Alby
was injured and the gate was about to close. Thomas thought he had no choice but to sacrifice himself
for Alby. Thomas knew he had no choice. He moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods

Evolution Is A Highly Argumentative Topic, Today s Society
Payne 1
Jared Payne

Mrs. Brown
5 December 2014
Pro evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today s
society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye The Science Guy and Ken Ham, has sparked even more
controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty six percent of
Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten thousand years ago, and that the only
reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved
into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and
correct. Evolution wins over creationism because Bill Nye won the debate with Ken
Ham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye is
representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one of
few signs that signify that evolution beats creation.
Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the
United States. With almost half of the United States in favor of creation, this could pose a potential
threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is
forgotten by ancient text translated into English. The Earth is not
6,000 or 10,000 years old, Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists
estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. It s not. And if that conflicts with your beliefs, I strongly
feel you should question your beliefs. [Nye also emphasized that] If we raise a generation of students
who don t believe in the process of science . . . you re not going to continue to innovate Bible stories
are presented as an alternative to evolution in some states, as approved by lawmakers and school
boards. Teachers in Tennessee are protected by a law to let students judge scientific theories, including
evolution (Lovan 1). Because creationist views are a threat to the science of the United States, this
shows that creationism is harmful to science,

Essay on The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
Barbara Tuchman s Guns of August is about World War 1. Her book has a unique way of telling this
story. Her books gives explanations for each country s involvement in the war. It describes the
opinions of the Czar and reasons for all of his crucial decisions during this time. It also explains how
Germany was in a tight spot and prepared for war a few years before it actually began. England was
not to worried about the war in Europe because it had it s own problems. The English people didn t
think it was necessary for them to enter the war.
However England got involved to try to protect the weak country of Belgium being attacked by
Germany. Germany was in a very difficult position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
France slightly believed this myth. They formed an alliance with Russia because in part of this myth
and also because it was better for two to face off with Germany than France alone. I like this book
very much because it goes into great detail. She explains vividly the events occurring that were crucial
in deciding the outcome of the war. She also writes in story form just like her other books, and it s
always easier to read a story that study a text book. My favorite thing about this book was that makes
the war seem like a story I ve never read, even though most people know the major events of the war.
Her style of writing keeps you guessing what s next.

Technicolor Film Analysis
Another idea from Ángela Bernardo (March 10, 2016) is that color technology such as Technicolor
has transformed the movie industry and the way Hollywood creates films. In 1916 Technicolor, one of
the most important advancement arrived. Which allowed films makers to record in color. Technicolor
was a photographic chemical process that managed to introduce color into movie frames. Technicolor
was based on the Kinemacolor system which was very successful in England. When Technicolor first
arrived it had lots of problems in theatres and was not perfected until 1932.
The Editors of Britannica state that color film technology did exist as far back as WWI but it so much
more expensive and difficult to work with that it did not become popular until

Montana is known as it beauty. There is many activities to do in this gorgeous state such as, going to
Glacier National Park, skiing, hiking, boating, fishing/ fly fishing , really good hunting, going to

just to become what we are today, and here are some difficulties we had to come by...
Montana was a territory in 1864. A territory is a land that is ruled by jurisdiction. There was seven
different territories, in the western United States. One of the territories was to be Montana. This was
by the Act of Congress signed by Abraham Lincoln, on May 26th, 1864. We shared a territory with

Wealthier Is Wrong
73,000 people sit on waiting lists for a kidney 18 of them will die tomorrow and 6,000 more patients
join the list every year (Monti, 2013, p. 1). To get needed organs, many people have proposed the idea
of selling organs to persuade the general public to give organs instead of donating and make the
availability greater. Currently in America, the only way to obtain an organ is to have it donated by
someone who is a match, which greatly revolves around family members and friends. If a family
member is not a match, then the patient gets put on a waiting list that may take months to fulfill. This
has turned wealthier patients to buying illegal organs off the black market. Furthermore, it creates an
unfair advantage for the wealthier patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wealthier people have more opportunities using their money. For example, Marchione (2015) states,
Wealthy people can better afford the tests and travel to get on more than one transplant center s lists
(p.5). These events are something that an individual in the lower class can not do. Even if a poor
patient has a more serious condition, the wealthier patient can take the availability of that organ away.
Also, according to Marchione (2015), Multiple listed patients are more likely to get a transplant and
less likely to die, a recent study shows (p.1). This is stating that patients who are on more lists are
getting their needed organs, making the organs availability for the less fortunate go down. Selling
organs also creates an unfair advantage because it can destroy altruism. Altruism is the medical term
meaning to promote someone else s success, when an individual is at risk of their own wellbeing.
According to Ireland (2008), Studies suggest that a profit based system will destroy altruism and
reduce the number of kidneys for the poor from live donors and cadavers (p. 1). This makes the act of
being selfless and caring go away from the process of organ donation. It creates an advantage for the
wealthy because a lower class individual is only selling the organ for money. Therefore, this builds
another circumstance for the poor when wanting to sell organs to needy patients. The underprivileged

How A Story Changes During Recycling
How a Story Changes During Recycling
Dôjôji in setsuwa, illustrated scroll and Noh play
9N135551 MaoYing
Devastated by a young monk who refused to have a relationship with and ran away from her, a woman
turned into serpent, chased the monk into a temple and finally destroyed him even though he hid
himself carefully under the big temple bell . This is the summary of the Dōjōji legend, a story which
has been recycled many times through history. Being one of the most popular themes in Japanese arts
and literature, it appeared in numerous versions and has been adapted to a wide variety of media. In
this paper, I will look into three of them Setsuwa, illustrated scroll and Noh play and make some
comparisons. I will try to demonstrate how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the woman is depicted as evil, lustful, and furious when rejected. In her essay,
Susan Blakeley Klein attributes this extremely negative view of women to one possible function of the
setsuwa: a cautionary tale specifically addressed to monks and priests to persuade them to avoid
women and exclude them from the realm of the spiritual .
The Dôjôji Engi Emaki
The Dōjōji Engi Emaki is an illustrated narrative scroll which was made in the Muromachi period
based on the earlier versions of the Dôjôji story. It is now a national treasure in the possession of
Dôjôji temple, Wakayama. This kind of illustrated scroll was often used in a medieval performance art
called etoki 絵解き, in which a performer displays the scroll to his/her audience while explaining the
illustrations and narrating the story. Even today, you can still enjoy a live performance given by
monks in the Dôjôji temple, though the scroll they use is a variant of the Engi Emaki produced early
in the twentieth century.
Although being based on the earlier setsuwa versions of the Dôjôji story, the Dôjôji Engi Emaki is
more like an independent work. It consists of four major parts: illustrations that depict the story;
Monogatari, the opening part that designates the time, places, actors and backgrounds; serifu, the lines
of speech uttered by the characters themselves; etoki lines, the narrations given by the explainer. The
verbal narration is

By the same token, 71 percent of respondents believe that drinking and driving is more dangerous than
distracted driving (Harvey). Drinking can make people react slower and make it hard for people to see
straight. If a person has to pull over and they are drinking and driving, and they are smaller sized
people they will be way more intoxicated than a heavier person, because heavier people can dilute
alcohol faster. However, if a person is drinking and driving and if the police catch them, they have to
use the breathalyzer and if they blow a 0.8 or more they will be taken to jail. If someone is caught
drinking and driving they will receive a DUI (Driving under the influence) and they may have their
licenses suspended. Therefore, if someone is drinking at a friends house they either need to wait to go
home until they are sober or they need to call someone that is not drinking and or they just need to
stay where they are so they do not risk their life or someone else s. Meanwhile, sometimes instead of
doing the breathalyzer, the officers might make them do a blood test, urine test. However, the officers
that pulled them over may make them walk the line to see if they can walk straight (White 23). In

The Glass Menagerie And Death Of A Salesman Analysis
The Glass Menagerie was a well written novel that I enjoyed because of all the different aspects of the
characters lives and views of things. For example Laura an older single mother who wants the best for
her two grown children Laura who is 23 years old and Tom who is the older brother. There father Mr.
Wingfield abandoned them for long distance traveling and never came back so Laura is taking care of
them on her own. Her daughter Laura is shy and quiet girl who has a crippled leg and cannot work
because of it and her oldest son Tom is just like his father and wants to get out of Chicago and travel
but he works for a factory to provide for his family. So that is the situation in the novel. The novel had
little hints now and then about what was going to happen like from the characters talking, the subtitles,
and the dramatic music that played throughout the play, so it was really easy to understand. The reason
I chose this novel was because it was about a play and because it was one of the shortest books. The
Glass Menagerie reminded me of another novel about a play called Death of a Salesman that I read
from my last book project just like this one in ninth grade. In a way both novels The Glass Menagerie
and Death of a Salesman are very similar because both families in the novels, the Wingfield family
and the Loman family have the same difficulties and situations like having no money, job difficulties,
stressful lives, running away from fears and worries, and husbands

How Does Joy Kogawa Show Sacrifice
Obasan Essay Sacrifices are a daily aspect of life throughout the world. Whether big or small all
sacrifices have significance. Giving up something of high value in exchange for another of seemingly
greater value, precedence, and care is to sacrifice, surrender, or forfeit. Obasan, by Joy Kogawa is a
prime representation of the significance and importance of sacrifice in everyday life. Throughout the

Cultural Destruction Of Slavery In The Middle East And Africa
Two hundred and sixty seven years ago began a time of innovation and invention, as well as the
adoption of social theories which brought about change that is seen in the footings of nearly every
society today. However, even in times of human advancement which seemed to be for the better,
devastating consequences were still seen across the world, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
Hidden in the shadows of history is a dark reality that resulted from advancements made by man; a
reality of slavery, both in the restriction of freedoms as well as economic entrapment, and a reality
with the blind justification for cultural destruction, using internal strife of developing nations as a
weapon in and of itself. Between the 1750 s and the 1910 s there was a plethora of historically

The Advertisements For Gucci s Perfume And Calvin Klein
According to Miya Yamanouchi, the author of Embrace Your Sexual Self, Both men and women
experience pressure to conform to social standards of attractiveness. Men to look strong and be tough,
women to look pretty and soft. Stereotypes affect every gender in the society because people have a
prejudice on themselves and others. In Men s Men and Women s Women, written by Steve Craig,
addresses the expectations that the society places on men and women. For instance, men must be
masculine and wealthy and women must have a perfect body shape with beautiful facial features to be
considered as attractive. Nowadays, the advertisements are taking advantage of such a social norm to
lure consumers to purchase their goods. The advertisements for Gucci s perfume and Calvin Klein s
cologne are especially good examples to demonstrate such pressure and reflect the consumers
psychological behavior. The advertisements highlight gender stereotypes through utilizing the
impression of opposite sex and incorporate an underlying sense of sexism through the designs of the
backgrounds, the purpose of wearing fragrances and the reinforcements on Women s Men and Men s
Men; these advertisements contribute to the consumers perception of their physical appearance by
delivering a fraudulent image of perfection through their models.

Essay on Scotland and England
While many people in England believe that the Scottish are beneficial to their union. The Scottish
people believe that their way of life and culture is at risk of becoming an English one, and for the
reason, many Scots want independence. This is a good thing because it will be the first time in a very
long time that the Scottish people will have a voice of their own, and choose their own fate as a
nation.
First off, we will start with how and why Scotland joined with the English to form the United
Kingdom, and the Darien Venture and why it put Scotland in near collapse and total economic
devastation. Second, we will discuss why both sides agreed to the Acts of Union 1706 1707. Third, we
will go over the English and Scottish perspectives of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, Scotland had to fund the project by itself, the Scottish crown accumulated a massive sum of gold,
one fifth of the
entire wealth of Scotland, put it all aboard a ship and sent off a troupe of two thousand and five
hundred Scotsmen who eventually landed on the shores of Panama just over one hundred days. They
then named the new Scottish colony New Caledonia and immediately discovered some very large
problems with their plan: First off, on the western side of Panama, the mountains were a lot larger than
expected, making overland trade completely impossible. Even if they built a canal, the technology to
do so was still hundreds of years away. Second, the Scottish goods made of wool brought to trade with
the locals was absolutely useless in the perpetual heat and humidity of South America. Third, the
Spanish had already planted their flags on the beaches of Panama and many other parts of South
America, and they were not that grateful to see the Scots arrive. And finally, without necessary
supplies, diseases such as Dysentery spread quite quickly. Two full years persisted and with the cost of
two thousand dead Scotsmen, they eventually abandoned their project. However, this was not the first
failed attempt at Scottish empiricism early Scottish colonies have been tried and eventually abandoned

Ego and Super Ego in Dante s Inferno Essay

Compare the relationship between Virgil and Dante in Inferno with Sigmund Freud s discussion of the
conscience or super ego in Civilization and Its Discontents. How does Freud explain and characterize
the relationship between super ego and ego in the individual? Cite examples of the interaction between
Virgil and Dante and compare closely with Freud s discussion of the psychical agencies, super ego and

However, According to Freud, the super ego exists as a way to level out the ego, and, in a way, keep it
in check. Therefore, the super ego is responsible for an individual s conscience, or, their ability to feel
guilt. Freud continues his explanation of these concepts by asserting the idea that the super ego calls
our attention to our own failures and misconducts, and attempts to assist us in learning from them in
order to avoid making similar mistakes in the future. Furthermore, the conscience is the form in which
the super ego controls our actions and thoughts, and creates guilt within us. Therefore, the ego is the
decision making, acting part of an individual, while the super ego acts as the ego s voice of authority
and control (Freud).
Moreover, the relationship between the characters of Dante and Virgil in Dante s Inferno stands as an
excellent example of the relationship between the ego and the super ego. In the opening of the poem,
the character of Dante finds himself lost in a place he does not know, surrounded by terrifying beasts.
In this dark moment, Virgil, a ghost from an earlier time, comes forwards and reveals to Dante that,
because sin has obstructed his path to God, he must journey through hell and purgatory in order to
return to life, as he once knew it. This journey, according to Virgil, would allow Dante to overcome
his sin and, at last, find God s love. However, Dante does not believe he can complete the journey
alone, at which point Virgil

Symbols In The Chinese Language
The language I decided to research is Chinese. I always found the language to be very interesting due
to the fact when it s written they use symbols. Granted they are not the only language that s written
using symbols, but they are the only language that uses what I would think to be considered lines to
form letters and words. The Chinese language is one of the oldest written language in the world with
six thousand years of history. Chinese characters have been found in turtle shells going as far back as
the Shang dynasty. Proving the language has been around for more than three thousand years and that
s a long time. It also makes me wonder how long and how much work goes into learning how to write,
speak, and pronounce the words that form to create the Chinese alphabet. The Chinese written
language uses symbols and characters to represent each word of the vocabulary. Most of the characters
are written versions of spoken sounds that have meaning. A large dictionary contains 40,000
characters. You must be able to say 2,000 3,000 characters to read a newspaper. That alone has me
disbelief as to how they can memorize so much, then again it may be simple for people who have been
doing it since birth it also honestly had me in shock as I thought of how much information that is to
hold / memorize. Although the written symbols have changed over time the language along with the
symbols and characters have remained the same. Although many forms of Chinese exist the written

Ways Women Get Pregnant
There are many ways for a woman to get pregnant but the most common way is were the sperm makes
a journey between the bodies of a man and woman during unprotected sexual intercourse. The sperm s
journey starts at the testicles, which start producing sperm at the start of puberty. When a man
ejaculates during sexual intercourse around 250 million sperm cells that are stored in the testicles get
pushed through the tube, vas deferens and then are mixed with fluids from the the prostate gland and
seminal vesicle. Then all of the combined fluids pass the males urethra and then enter the female
reproductive system in hopes of impregnating the female.
From there the sperm cells travel through the cervical canal into the uterine cavity and then into

Summary Of Christopher Nolan s Evacuation Of Dunkirk
Q. In what ways do Christopher Nolan and ________ develop the idea of causality of war in Dunkirk
and Evacuation of Dunquecue, respectively?
Within Christopher Nolan s Film Dunkirk and _______ s poem Evacuation of Dunkirk both authors
explore the causality of war. Both texts are set in the same situation and both explore the different
aspects of the evacuation of Dunkirk from two similar but different sources. They both develop the
themes of isolation, honour and hope. Specifically, Nolan uses his filmmaking style to its essence,
resulting in scenes of simple but immensely charged visual momentum. Whilst ______ s poem
connects to the reader on an emotional level, almost giving the reader a perspective of what it was like
to be a part of the historical event.
Christopher Nolan, throughout the course of his film uses a range muted colours as well as bluish
tones in order to reflect the water and the heavy machinery. Nolan uses a range of camera techniques
including close ups, mid range, long shots as well as the most obvious overhead shots. Nolan uses
these overhead shots multiple times but especially of the soldiers distributed across a beach convey
and unnerving isolation, as it these were there last times on earth as they look as if they are alone and
deserted. Another example of how Nolan s cinematography successfully depicts the evacuation of
Dunkirk is when soldiers are found waiting for the tide in an abandoned boat. In this scene, the

Analysis Of River Out Of Eden And The Art Of War
It is difficult to argue whether strategy is an art form or science because it can actually be both. Sun
Tzu s text, The Art of War is an example of an ancient humanism text about strategies of war.
Humanism by definition is, an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human
rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of
human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human
problems (Dictionary.com). Therefore, humanism is much like philosophy which is related to science
yet influenced by the skill of art. Thomas Cleary starts off the text with a quote from The Book of
Balance and Harmony which states, To know after seeing is not worthy of being called knowing (qtd.
in Cleary, xv xvi), but since Sun Tzu s teachings are philosophical the text renders itself as war
knowledge. In River Out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life , author and biologist Richard Dawkins
would greatly disagree with Cleary s quote because Dawkins believes that, Scientific beliefs are
supported by evidence, and they get results (Dawkins 33). According to Dawkins, Darwinism has the
power to explain natural occurrences in the universe and his mission is to disprove supernatural views
of creation and the world with observable scientific knowledge. Although, military strategies are
intuitive there are also observable scientific aspects to the art of war which follow the scientific
method.

Be A Woman Programmer
In the essay How to Be a Woman Programmer by Ellen Ullman, published by The New York Times,
the author addresses the multiple ways in which gender prejudice is alive and in the computer science
industry today. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more apparent than ever in the
workplace.
A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves further
than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure, there is always
that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the joke, the leer, the
disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through the door you are seen
as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even though the woman is more
than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is watching.
Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the encounter I
had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By all he meant
three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical position. (Ullman,
2013)
According to Rich and Walker Second wave feminism, beginning in the mid 1960s, tended to focus on
the under representation of women in the workplace. This was expressed with the creation of the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which

Ludwig Van Beethoven, Pianist And Composer
Jonathan Perez
Period 1
10 15 14
Ludwig Van Beethoven Ludwig Van Beethoven, a widely known pianist and composer, was born on
about December 16, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He was baptized on December 17, 1770. The actual date
of his birth is unknown, but because most babies were baptized within 24 hours of birth, December 16
was his most likely birthdate. Beethoven, however, insisted that he was born 2 years later. Although he
was presented with official papers of his birth, he still stubbornly objected. Beethoven had two
younger brothers who survived into adulthood, Caspar and Johann. His mother, Maria, was a slender
and gentle but deeply moralistic woman. His father, Johann, was a mediocre court singer who,
surprisingly, was better known for his intense alcoholism rather than his musical talent. Kapellmeister
Ludwig van Beethoven, Beethoven s grandfather, was Bonn s most prominent musician and the source
of pride for young Beethoven. Beethoven s father began teaching music to Ludwig at a young age
with extreme brutality that affected Ludwig for the rest of his life. Neighbors often spoke of hearing a
small, weeping boy playing the clavier, while his father beat him whenever he as so much hesitated or
made a mistake. On a daily basis, Beethoven was beaten, locked in the cellar, and was even sleep
deprived to get extra hours of practice in. Ludwig studied the violin and clavier from his father and
took additional lessons from organists from around town. Whether it was

Analysis Of Ace Ventura And School Of Rock
In both, Ace Ventura and School of Rock, comedy is proposed from the outset; even the title and
movie cover are comedic. Setting up pretend worlds creates distances for the audience allowing them
to laugh at the comedies. In Ace Ventura, the main character, Ace Ventura, is a pet detective hired to
find a missing dolphin who is kidnapped before the Superbowl. This concept suggest absurdity at both
the ridiculousness of someone kidnapping a dolphin and a private pet detective being hired to find it.
This concept also sets up a lot of jokes throughout the movie; Ace has a special bond with animals, an
ability to communicate with animals, and in many ways acts like an animal, especially a dog. At no
point is the concept of the movie taken seriously by the audience so the outrageousness of Ace s
character and his actions are cartoonish.
This is a very different tone from School of Rock, where the movie is set in a somewhat more realistic
world that the audience is able to identify with. School of Rock creates comedy through a fish out of
water scenario where the immature, rock and roll loving, Dewey impersonates his roommate, Ned,
and becomes a substitute teacher for ten year olds. The scheming Dewey devises a plan to create a
rock band out of his class and win a contest, setting up multiple comedic approaches.
The role of Ace Ventura seems to be written especially for Jim Carrey as it takes advantage of all of
his physical comedy gifts. Jim Carrey honed his comedic

Have you ever wondered how abortion came to be legal? It was decided in the Supreme Court case of
Roe v. Wade. The 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was a major landmark in not only the abortion issue, but
also in American government.
In 1970, Norma McCorvey, a single and pregnant woman in Texas wanted to get an abortion. The
state laws of Texas at that time stated that it was illegal to have an abortion in Texas. Even though the
state told her that she could go to one of the four states in which abortion was legal to have the
procedure done, she decided that she could not afford to travel to another state to receive the
procedure. Norma McCorvey decided that she would sue the state of Texas, claiming that her ... Show

Electronic Medical Records Systems Essay
Electronic Medical Records systems lie at the center of any computerized health information system,
without them other modern technologies, such as decision support systems cannot be effectively
integrated into routine clinical workflow. The paperless, inter operable, multi provider, multi specialty,
multi discipline computer medical record, which has been a goal for many researchers, healthcare
professionals, administrators, and politicians for the past 20+ years is however about to become a

Getting access to them takes a lot of time and effort. Time and money spent on phone calls, faxes,
emails obtaining these records from other places can be saved. Sometimes, medical tests have already
been done over again, incurring unnecessary costs to the patient and the healthcare system.
2) EMRs keep records safe. Paper records can be easily lost. Fires, floods and other natural disasters
have destroyed medical records for many years, data which is lost forever. Digital records can be
stored virtually forever and can be kept long after the physical records are gone.
3) EMRs facilitate coordination between health care professionals. Coordination between primary care
providers and care of patients has always been problematic. Paper charting leaves room for deficits in
medical information exchange. The reports from hospitals generally do not get to primary providers
and results in decreased quality of care after hospitalization.
4) EMRs can save lives. EMRs can save lives in unusual circumstances. EMRs can be used for disease
surveillance during epidemics and bioterrorism.
5) Using reminders, prompts, and alerts from computerized decision support systems would help
improve compliance with the best clinical practices, ensure regular screenings, and other preventive
practices, identify possible drug interactions and facilitate diagnoses and treatments.

There are many ways to define governmentality since there are so many various ways it can be
interpreted. Foucault articulated governmentality as the conduct of conduct , which can be interpreted
as how conduct is controlled or regulated, or calculated attempts to direct human behavior towards
particular ends . When discussing different academics ideas and conceptions of governmentality and
the various ways in which it is utilized, such as the use of knowledge and information or self
regulation, it is usually based on Foucault s original concept of governmentality. Mckee defines
governmentality as a fundamentally political project a way of problematizing life and seeking to act
upon it, which identifies both a territory and means of intervention. What governmentality offers is a
critical approach that doesn t focus on how a good government should operate or how moral the
conduct that arises from governmentality is, instead it merely makes the distinctions between
liberating and repressive power , just as Foucault emphasises the difference between governance and
sovereignty. Governance is the status of things such as economy, space, citizens, etc. which uses
multiform tactics to operate, whereas sovereignty is the adherence to law enforced by law. Lemke

complications such as dislodgement or number of insertion attempts, arm of choice used, vein of

most of what they see as truth. Many times there are reports of serial killers or rapists pasted all over
the media. Often, news channels will assume the perpetrator has some form of mental illness, such as
schizophrenia. Consequently, many people associate schizophrenia with a negative stereotype
associated with violence because of what they view in the media. In the scientific study, Portrayals of
Schizophrenia by Entertainment Media: A Content Analysis of Contemporary Movies, the author
reviewed 41 different films made between 1990 and 2010 with at least one main character that had
schizophrenia. The study found most characters engaged in dangerous or violent behaviors toward
themselves or others, and nearly a third engaged in homicidal behavior (Owen). Accordingly, the
negative portrayals of those with schizophrenia in movies influence the stigma among the general
public that schizophrenia is dangerous. Instinctually, people want to keep themselves safe and alive in
their day to day lives, so having this negative reaction to schizophrenia will make them feel safer by
avoiding those with the illness.
The overall view of schizophrenia from society creates a negative public stigma. People diagnosed

Hunger And The Positive Effects Of Hunger Today
Feed the Issue
Relating to something you never experienced, proposes difficulty. You experience the refreshing
feeling of doing a cartwheel, but never felt the sensation a gymnast feels as they flip through the air.
Likewise, your stomach growls a few times here and there, but you never experienced true hunger.
Hunger so bad called starvation, malnutrition, undernourishment, or poverty. To make an impact on
the issue of hunger today, it stands important to consider the current issue and the positive effects of
donating to a strong organization.
Of all the children in the world, hunger remains the leading cause of death (Turk). An estimated 6,200
children die from hunger or hunger related causes each day (Feed My Starving Children). That means
about 3.1 million children every year. In children under the age of five, poor nutrition continues to be
responsible for forty five percent of the deaths (Turk).
The majority of hungry people can be found living in developing regions (World Hunger, Poverty
Facts, Statistics 2016). Of people suffering from hunger, ninety eight percent live in developing
regions. Numerically, this means 780 million people live in developing regions, out of the 795 million
hungry people. Over 190.7 million people were considered undernourished in India during 2014,
causing India to have the highest population of hungry people (Turk).

Technology In Electronic Music In The 20th And 21st Century
Discuss the development of musical form and its relation to technology in electronic music in the 20th
and 21st centuries. Music has evolved a lot since when it was only orchestral and vocal, but in the past
100 odd years music has really moved on. It has particularly been shaped by technology as it grew
more and more advanced. The most recent years of music have made a turn for, what some people
would say, the worse, but most people don t care about the reasons which I will mention below and
can still appreciate the music. This essay is going to cover what technology has done to music and
how it has created more freedom for most people when making music. Evidence of Egyptian musical
instruments dates to the Predynastic period [1], which is the late stone age, made and presumably
played by prehistoric people. They re most commonly discovered in the Swabian Alb region of
Germany. These are known as the earliest musical instruments which proves there was prehistoric
music, however nobody alive knows what it sounds like because it was never possible to record sound
back then. In prehistoric Egypt they invented whistles made out of shells. Clappers were also found by
archeologists. A clapper is a basic form of a percussion instrument. It consists of two long solid pieces
that are clapped together producing sound. Evidence of lyres and lutes and metal cymbals were found.
In Ancient Greece many other instruments were invented and we have evidence of this. Over a huge

He then injects himself with one of the vials. He didn t know if it was the right vial but he takes a deep breath before he opens the security door to face the zombies that were outside. Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today s society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye The Science Guy and Ken Ham, has sparked even more controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty six percent of Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten thousand years ago, and that the only reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and correct. Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye is representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one of few signs that signify that evolution beats creation. Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the United States. With almost half of the United States in favor of creation, this could pose a potential threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is forgotten by ancient text translated into English. The Earth is not 6,000 or 10,000 years old, Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. It s not. To get needed organs, many people have proposed the idea of selling organs to persuade the general public to give organs instead of donating and make the availability greater. Currently in America, the only way to obtain an organ is to have it donated by someone who is a match, which greatly revolves around family members and friends. If a family member is not a match, then the patient gets put on a waiting list that may take months to fulfill. This has turned wealthier patients to buying illegal organs off the black market. For example, Marchione (2015) states, Wealthy people can better afford the tests and travel to get on more than one transplant center s lists (p.5). These events are something that an individual in the lower class can not do. Even if a poor patient has a more serious condition, the wealthier patient can take the availability of that organ away. Also, according to Marchione (2015), Multiple listed patients are more likely to get a transplant and less likely to die, a recent study shows (p.1). This is stating that patients who are on more lists are getting their needed organs, making the organs availability for the less fortunate go down. Selling organs also creates an unfair advantage because it can destroy altruism. Altruism is the medical term meaning to promote someone else s success, when an individual is at risk of their own wellbeing. According to Ireland (2008), Studies suggest that a profit based system will destroy altruism and reduce the number of kidneys for the poor from live donors and cadavers (p. 1). This makes the act of being selfless and caring go away from the process of organ donation. It creates an advantage for the wealthy because a lower class individual is only selling the organ for money. Therefore, this builds another circumstance for the poor when wanting to sell organs to needy patients. The underprivileged sellers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her essay, Susan Blakeley Klein attributes this extremely negative view of women to one possible function of the setsuwa: a cautionary tale specifically addressed to monks and priests to persuade them to avoid women and exclude them from the realm of the spiritual . The Dôjôji Engi Emaki The Dōjōji Engi Emaki is an illustrated narrative scroll which was made in the Muromachi period based on the earlier versions of the Dôjôji story. It is now a national treasure in the possession of Dôjôji temple, Wakayama. Humanism by definition is, an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems (Dictionary.com). Therefore, humanism is much like philosophy which is related to science yet influenced by the skill of art. Thomas Cleary starts off the text with a quote from The Book of Balance and Harmony which states, To know after seeing is not worthy of being called knowing (qtd. in Cleary, xv xvi), but since Sun Tzu s teachings are philosophical the text renders itself as war knowledge. In River Out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life , author and biologist Richard Dawkins would greatly disagree with Cleary s quote because Dawkins believes that, Scientific beliefs are supported by evidence, and they get results (Dawkins 33). According to Dawkins, Darwinism has the power to explain natural occurrences in the universe and his mission is to disprove supernatural views of creation and the world with observable scientific knowledge. Although, military strategies are intuitive there are also observable scientific aspects to the art of war which follow the scientific method. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Be A Woman Programmer In the essay How to Be a Woman Programmer by Ellen Ullman, published by The New York Times, the author addresses the multiple ways in which gender prejudice is alive and in the computer science industry today. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more apparent than ever in the workplace. A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves further than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure, there is always that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through the door you are seen as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even though the woman is more than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is watching. Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the encounter I had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By all he meant three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical position. (Ullman, 2013) According to Rich and Walker Second wave feminism, beginning in the mid 1960s, tended to focus on the under representation of women in the workplace. • 29. Ludwig Van Beethoven, Pianist And Composer Jonathan Perez Period 1 10 15 14 Ludwig Van Beethoven Ludwig Van Beethoven, a widely known pianist and composer, was born on about December 16, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He was baptized on December 17, 1770. The actual date of his birth is unknown, but because most babies were baptized within 24 hours of birth, December 16 was his most likely birthdate. Beethoven, however, insisted that he was born 2 years later. Although he was presented with official papers of his birth, he still stubbornly objected. Beethoven had two younger brothers who survived into adulthood, Caspar and Johann. His mother, Maria, was a slender and gentle but deeply moralistic woman. His father, Johann, was a mediocre court singer who, surprisingly, was better known for his intense alcoholism rather than his musical talent. Kapellmeister Ludwig van Beethoven, Beethoven s grandfather, was Bonn s most prominent musician and the source of pride for young Beethoven. Beethoven s father began teaching music to Ludwig at a young age with extreme brutality that affected Ludwig for the rest of his life. Neighbors often spoke of hearing a small, weeping boy playing the clavier, while his father beat him whenever he as so much hesitated or made a mistake. On a daily basis, Beethoven was beaten, locked in the cellar, and was even sleep deprived to get extra hours of practice in. Ludwig studied the violin and clavier from his father and took additional lessons from organists from around town. Whether it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Analysis Of Ace Ventura And School Of Rock In both, Ace Ventura and School of Rock, comedy is proposed from the outset; even the title and movie cover are comedic. Setting up pretend worlds creates distances for the audience allowing them to laugh at the comedies. In Ace Ventura, the main character, Ace Ventura, is a pet detective hired to find a missing dolphin who is kidnapped before the Superbowl. This concept suggest absurdity at both the ridiculousness of someone kidnapping a dolphin and a private pet detective being hired to find it. This concept also sets up a lot of jokes throughout the movie; Ace has a special bond with animals, an ability to communicate with animals, and in many ways acts like an animal, especially a dog. At no point is the concept of the movie taken seriously by the audience so the outrageousness of Ace s character and his actions are cartoonish. This is a very different tone from School of Rock, where the movie is set in a somewhat more realistic world that the audience is able to identify with. School of Rock creates comedy through a fish out of water scenario where the immature, rock and roll loving, Dewey impersonates his roommate, Ned, and becomes a substitute teacher for ten year olds. The scheming Dewey devises a plan to create a rock band out of his class and win a contest, setting up multiple comedic approaches. The role of Ace Ventura seems to be written especially for Jim Carrey as it takes advantage of all of his physical comedy gifts. Jim Carrey honed his comedic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wade decision was a major landmark in not only the abortion issue, but also in American government. In 1970, Norma McCorvey, a single and pregnant woman in Texas wanted to get an abortion. The state laws of Texas at that time stated that it was illegal to have an abortion in Texas. Even though the state told her that she could go to one of the four states in which abortion was legal to have the procedure done, she decided that she could not afford to travel to another state to receive the procedure. Fires, floods and other natural disasters have destroyed medical records for many years, data which is lost forever. Digital records can be stored virtually forever and can be kept long after the physical records are gone. 3) EMRs facilitate coordination between health care professionals. Coordination between primary care providers and care of patients has always been problematic. Paper charting leaves room for deficits in medical information exchange. The reports from hospitals generally do not get to primary providers and results in decreased quality of care after hospitalization. 4) EMRs can save lives. Mckee defines governmentality as a fundamentally political project a way of problematizing life and seeking to act upon it, which identifies both a territory and means of intervention. What governmentality offers is a critical approach that doesn t focus on how a good government should operate or how moral the conduct that arises from governmentality is, instead it merely makes the distinctions between liberating and repressive power , just as Foucault emphasises the difference between governance and sovereignty. Consequently, many people associate schizophrenia with a negative stereotype associated with violence because of what they view in the media. In the scientific study, Portrayals of Schizophrenia by Entertainment Media: A Content Analysis of Contemporary Movies, the author reviewed 41 different films made between 1990 and 2010 with at least one main character that had schizophrenia. The study found most characters engaged in dangerous or violent behaviors toward themselves or others, and nearly a third engaged in homicidal behavior (Owen). Accordingly, the negative portrayals of those with schizophrenia in movies influence the stigma among the general public that schizophrenia is dangerous. Instinctually, people want to keep themselves safe and alive in their day to day lives, so having this negative reaction to schizophrenia will make them feel safer by avoiding those with the illness. • 40. Technology In Electronic Music In The 20th And 21st Century Discuss the development of musical form and its relation to technology in electronic music in the 20th and 21st centuries. Music has evolved a lot since when it was only orchestral and vocal, but in the past 100 odd years music has really moved on. It has particularly been shaped by technology as it grew more and more advanced. The most recent years of music have made a turn for, what some people would say, the worse, but most people don t care about the reasons which I will mention below and can still appreciate the music. This essay is going to cover what technology has done to music and how it has created more freedom for most people when making music. Evidence of Egyptian musical instruments dates to the Predynastic period [1], which is the late stone age, made and presumably played by prehistoric people. They re most commonly discovered in the Swabian Alb region of Germany. These are known as the earliest musical instruments which proves there was prehistoric music, however nobody alive knows what it sounds like because it was never possible to record sound back then. In prehistoric Egypt they invented whistles made out of shells. Clappers were also found by archeologists. A clapper is a basic form of a percussion instrument. It consists of two long solid pieces that are clapped together producing sound. Evidence of lyres and lutes and metal cymbals were found. In Ancient Greece many other instruments were invented and we have evidence of this. Over a huge amount ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
