Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Matrix Composites
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) has better properties than unreinforced alloys. Among many
inexpensive MMCs, Al B4C can be obtained as a byproduct from solid wastes(Coal Combustion in
Thermal Power Plants. When the MMCs are heated to 1500 to 3000c, it shows better strength than
composites. In general B4C has high melting point, which in turn reduces the heating time. It also has
very good chemical and thermal stability. As Al B4C gets mixed up to form into MMCs, their
properties seem to have been increased and found improvised. Keywords AL B4C, AL 6063, B4C,

The Foster Family Character Analysis
Living with family can make life rather complex, especially when dealing with problems, because this
group of people are so close to each other emotionally. It s hard to keep secrets or keep things behind
doors because there s not really a door that can t be opened by everyone. This is especially true with
children and teens going through the ropes of high school. Finding the balance of when a child needs
to be disciplined by the parents and when to let the child be more independent with their problem
solving or even finding a way to have everyone connect to each other while also providing a
comfortable space or bit of a distance from each other can be a hard task for everyone, especially if
there are multiple individuals within the family. This example of a family s interesting dynamics that
come about can be seen in a show called, The Fosters. In this show, the Foster family lives in San
Diego where Stef Foster and Lena Adams (in later seasons being Lena Adams Foster) parent five
children, four of them being foster children and one coming from a previous marriage. The children s
names are Brandon (17yrs old), who is the oldest, Mariana (16) and Jesus (16), who are twins that
were adopted after Stef and Lena got together, and Callie (17) and Jude (13) who are siblings that both
got adopted. Stef is the birth mother of Brandon, coming from a previous relationship with another
charater named Mike. Just like any typical American family with children, Stef and Lena deal

Discrimination Against the Disabled Essay
It doesn t matter what you look like on the outside, it s what s on the inside that counts, but our society
today lacks to understand that. In today s time different is not accepted, people that are different are
discriminated, looked down upon and usually picked on. People with disabilities are seen as different
creatures by most people, the disabled don t choose to be the way they are, but still our society
alienates them. There are different types of disabilities, some type of disabilities are; mental disability,
physical disability, learning disability and socializing disability. These disabilities are seen as
weakness in our society that hence contribute to the stereotype that leads to the discrimination against
the disabled.

It is human nature to despise those that are different than normal. Everyone has a different perception
of normal and when someone cuts that boundary it results in discrimination. Some people also tend to
dislike the disabled due to their own weaknesses, to hide their own failures they will look down upon
the handicap to make themselves feel better. Some people s self esteem is so tiny that they have to find
someone lower than them to feel superior. Also society perceives the disabled as useless, powerless
and inefficient human beings, which also contributes to the ideology that leads to the discrimination
against the disabled. Psychological and cultural influences also result in discrimination against the
disabled. Hence, we can conclude that the fact that the disabled are different is what leads to the
discrimination against them.
Direct discrimination occurs when a person with a disability is treated less favourably than a person
who does not have a disability.
This occurs if a person is discriminated against in the following areas; employment, education and
training, provision of facilities, access to public premises, etc...
Indirect discrimination will occur where a person imposes a requirement, condition or practice that has
the effect of disadvantaging people with a protected attribute, and that is not reasonable.

Narrative Essay On The Halloween Night
One night when I was a little kid, I had a nightmare where I felt like I was being watched by someone
or something. I was laying on the couch in my grandparents living room. When I woke up, I started to
get a weird feeling. Like someone was there, so I slowly sat up. I called out for my grandparents. No
one answered so I decided to walk to their bedroom. They were sound asleep. Weird I thought to
myself. So I walked back into the living room to check if someone was outside. When I looked out the
living room window, I saw a man sitting on the fence in a crouched position: just staring into the
house waiting for someone to notice him. I stared at him for the longest time, I slowly backed away
from the window. I quickly ran to my room. When laying there in my bed, I lay there feeling scared. I
kept getting scared when I thought what if he came into the house. After a while of laying there, I tried
to fall asleep. Trying to keep my mind off about what I just saw.
Years have passed since and I never had that nightmare again. I usually don t have nightmares as much
as when I was younger. More so I do get paranoid quickly from the littlest things. Today is October
31, 2017. Halloween night is a night full of little kids dress up in their favorite character. They will go
house to house to get free candy from their neighbors. Middle schoolers feel they are too cool to go
out, but really want to dress up and walk around for candy. Where high schoolers go to parties or just

Analysis of Joesph J. Ellis´ American Creation Essay
Joseph J. Ellis the author of American Creation which turns out to be a national best seller who wrote
other book such as His Excellency, founding brother, American Sphinx, Passionate sage, after the
revolution, and school for soldiers. What the author does that make this book a very unique book is he
give us a brief back around of American coming to life after multiple attempt to set up a government.
He tells us how we use much different culture to build our government from deciding if we should
have a dictatorship like in England or not but have a democracy like the Romans. Joseph makes

chance at making a new country and that our liberty will always defeat enemy that fight for just

order to win each of their individual liberty. He tells us how Washington was in the British military
and was train by them but he also did training by himself which would have a side effect of his

Customer Relationship Manager (CRM)
In order for businesses to grow and maintain the relationships that they have with their customers,
CRM software is essential. CRM systems specialize in their ability to help market to customers, track
leads, sell products and services, manage opportunities, and track customer interactions. Today many
systems offer some type of social media integration, as well as analytics that can highlight trends.
Customer relationship management (CRM) systems connect a company s ERP system to those of its
customers. CRM systems provide companies with capabilities to manage marketing, sales, and service
for its customers. (Magal, 2009) There are many versions of CRM software that companies use,
however here are three that are dominating the market today:
Salesforce.com They were one of the first players in the game and have grown into a $37 billion
company. It has about 14 percent of the CRM market with an estimated $2.5 billion in 2012 sales,
according to Gartner. Customers from tiny businesses to massive enterprises generally seem to like its
sales , marketing , and service management capabilities, which are only available in the cloud.
(Blattberg, 2014) They offer almost all of the features you would find in a CRM tool, including chatter
features and mobile applications. Salesforce is a choice for companies of all sizes.
Microsoft Dynamics The draw to Microsoft products typically revolves around easy integration.

Argumentative Essay About Video Games
Video games are ubiquitous in modern life. It has not only been a source of entertainment, but also
played an important role in a child growth and brain development. Many parents have a bad
perspective towards video games, they consider it as a devil that corrupts mind and engages their child
into non productive, virtual, and harmful environment. Hence, they try to stop them completely from
playing games by all means. This kind of attitude and behavior from the parent might not only effect
their relationship with their child, but also deprive the child from some advantages of playing video
games that enhance brain power. Therefore, parents should allow their children engage with video
games in reasonable amount.
One main concern of parents is that their child would become an addict, and would not be able to
perform as a healthy successful individual in the society when they grow up. Indeed, intense and
prolong gaming will lead to addiction, which can decrease a person s productivity, and, disturbing the
daily routine, meaning they would stay up all night. However, to be called as an addict one has to
show characteristics of addiction, which is a factor of personal behavior, performance, etc. In spite of

Linear Technology
Linear Technology
Linear Technology is a technology company that focuses on the different elements of semiconductors.
The company mostly focuses on analog products within the semiconductor portion of the electronic
industry. Linear Technology was unique in their payout policy in the sense that they started with
announcing dividends and then continued onto repurchasing. Linear started dividends to gain the
respect of investors as well as show that buying shares in the company of Linear was less risky than
all the other technology companies. Additionally, they repurchase stocks to offset the employee stock

Earnings and earnings per share are not affected by the dividend payout.
Another option Linear Technology has to exercise its excess cash balance, they can repurchase shares
to increase the value of the firm. This repurchase option is beneficial to the company and shareholders
because in an open market share repurchase has no effect on the stock price. In addition, by
repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. As shown in Exhibit B,
by calculating the total numbers of shares repurchased (total cash balance/price per share) and
subtracting it from the number of shares outstanding will give us the number of shares left outstanding
after the repurchase to be 261,703,052. Exhibit B shows how this decrease in the number of shares
drove up the earnings per share value by $0.10 from $0.55 to $0.65. When the company repurchases
shares instead of paying out in special dividends, the firm s value will increase and it also allows the
firm to retain its cash reserves within the company.
In general, companies pay dividends for a number of reasons. Dividends provide certainty about the
company s financial well being. Many investors prefer the steady and secure income that comes with
dividends and see dividends as strength in the company and a sign of future positive earnings.
Dividend initiators tend to be large and stable firms with low growth rates

humanitarian means she did actions to help out other people before thinking about herself. Most of her
life was fully devoted to helping the poor, the sick, the needy, and the helpless. She grew up in the
Roman Catholic Church and decided to devote her life to God at a very early age. When she was 18
she joined the Sisters of Loreto to become a missionary in India even though she needed work hard
before hand since she needed to learn English, and the local language where she would be moving.
She taught at schools for many years in India and ended up becoming the headmistress at a school in
eastern Calcutta. She is best known for sticking up for the rights of the sick and helpless. When She
left home for india she never saw her mother, or sister again. Her father died when she was really
young, leaving her mother to take care of her and her two siblings all by herself. Despite the
challenges her family faced, her mother was one of the greatest people to look up to as she was
growing up because she had to sacrifice everything to care for her family after a tragic incident
happened and she still managed to care for others as well. Mother Teresa followed her mother

Ralph Bullying Research Paper
Fatty! Pig! Fatty! Come on Fatty keep up! In a community people think it is awesome to bully people.
Bullying is teasing someone because people are overweight, or people are jealous. For example,
people usually get bullied because people are overweight, or have down syndrome. The people behind
this bullying are usually the jocks. Consider the people that are hurt everyday because of bullying. For
instance, more people are hurt then being excited or happy. Let s stop bullying because people are
alike and no one is perfect. This world is not perfect by any means, so no one will be perfect. Also,

Guatemala And United States Government Systems Essay
Guatemala and United States Government Systems Government is the authority that addresses, control
and administers the institutions of a community. Every country has ruled by a governance structure.
There are different kinds of government. This comparison is about the United States and Guatemala s
forms of government.
United States system has its foundation on an agreement between the people and the government to
ensure that individual liberties continue to prosper under a free society. The Declaration of
Independence lists three important rights that the Founding Fathers considered natural and
unalienable. They are the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Government exists to protect
these rights. On other hand, the purpose of Guatemala s government, according to the Guatemala s
Constitution, is to promote the common welfare, the consolidation of the regime of legality, security,
equality, justice, liberty and peace. Both countries have its foundation on democracy; nevertheless,
there are specific characteristics that mark a difference between them.
First, United States Constitution establishes a system of government named representative democracy
. In a representative democracy or indirect democracy, the power to govern comes from the people,
who have the highest power. The government works for the people and protects their rights; this is
Popular Sovereignty . The people elect representatives to make laws. Laws made in the United States

This Way for the Gas, Ladies Gentlemen
The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he was at Auschwitz
beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis
in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and
Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during
the Holocaust. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own
experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot judge Borowski
negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the transports.

soldiers while ultimately they are equals to those being sent to the gas chambers.
Borowski mentioned a key reason as to why he did not commit suicide. His own question What will
the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight through the struggle in the hopes of
getting out alive one day and sharing the truth with the world; it would be the only way the truth
emerged (Charters 150). What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those
inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable.
Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep himself alive, many may consider
that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the deaths of thousands of people when he could have
taken a more noble route self immolation as the girl did in the story. This is hindsight bias, however,
and does not take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond
imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest theory created by
Charles Darwin analyzes organisms behavior towards one another and their environment to see who
will thrive. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz, the only method of survival was assisting the

Case 2 1: The Not So Wonderful World of EuroDisney Things Are Better Now at Disneyland Resort
Paris 1. What factors contributed to Euro Disney s poor performance during its first year of operation?
What factors contributed to Hong Kong Disney s poor performance during its first year? The factors
that led to Euro Disney s poor performance were the lack of understanding of the French culture,
mistaken assumptions, and ethnocentrism by the American management. Since the prices of the hotels
and entrances were different and much higher in Europe, the park attendance was low. It was actually

There were 14 million people that visited Tokyo Disney Park the second year and 3/4th of them were

constructing the park in Paris. They didn t feel the need to do any research since the Japanese adapted
so well to the American customs and Disney management figured the French would be no different.
However, this was completely the opposite of what happened. The French did not accept the American
customers and a failure resulted in Paris. 6. Why do you think the experience in France didn t help
Disney avoid some of the problems in Hong Kong? First are the cultural differences. In Hong Kong,
they only considered Chinese style in the park design. Also, they still overpriced the park. They didn t
take into consideration the actual price level of the country and blindly set prices high so that visitors
could not afford, and moved on to other amusement parks. Last is the marketing. Disney management
did not market its entertainment concept. Like France, Hong Kong has their own cartoon image and
was not familiar with Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. 7. Now that Hong Kong Disney is up and
running, will the Shanghai development benefit from the Hong Kong experience? Disney management
will know exceptionally well that doing research is the first step. Familiarize the customer base with

American popular culture has always had a great influence on Japan. Thus, the design of the Tokyo
Disneyland was virtually identical to the Anaheim Disneyland. Most aspects of the Tokyo Disneyland
remained as American as possible. Second, there is an increasing trend in Japan toward leisure. The
Tokyo Disneyland had even become a special cultural haven in Japan. Despite the different way of life
between Japan and the U.S., Japanese people maintained great interests in the Disney s brand of
entertainment. The annual festive party on the New Year s Day and Evening has been an extremely
popular celebration. And feedbacks from Tokyo Disneyland visitors were overwhelmingly positive. As
a result, managers of Disney were convinced that everything they imported that worked in the U.S.
worked in Tokyo. 4.0 Euro Disney Having seen the success achieved by two native Disneylands and

There were several reasons that could explain the frustrations of Euro Disney. First and one of the
most crucial factors were cultural issues. While the success of Tokyo Disneyland was a major factor

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s robot
population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey (Guizzo,
Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are surrounded by
robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these robots is growing as
technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will discuss drawbacks and
benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive impacts of robotics.
Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It will then proceed to
investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society. Main body Economic factors
of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is not advantageous. Firstly in the
future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after
serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic controller, in 2034 the government will
mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028
Google is going to produce perfect audio translator, indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It
means that human translators and interpreters will lose their working places. Similarly as self driving
cars become main stream, there will be no need for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude

A Logical Fallacy is, generally talking, a mistake of thinking. When somebody receives a position, or
tries to influence another person to embrace a position, in light of an awful bit of thinking, they submit
a misrepresentation. I say generally talking in light of the fact that this definition has a couple of
issues, the most imperative of which are sketched out underneath. Some sensible false notions are
more basic than others, thus have been named and characterized.
Informal Fallacies
Inductive Arguments needn t be as thorough as deductive arguments to be great arguments. Great
inductive arguments loan backing to their decisions, yet regardless of the fact that their premises are
genuine then that doesn t create with 100% conviction that their decisions are valid. Indeed, even a
decent inductive argument with genuine premises may have a false conclusion; that the argument is a
decent one and that its premises are genuine just creates that its decision is presumably genuine. Every
inductive argument, even great ones, are thusly deductively invalid, thus fallacious in the strictest
sense. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Logical and Factual Errors
Arguments comprise of premises, derivations, and conclusions. Arguments containing awful
inductions, i.e. derivations where the premises don t give sufficient backing for the conclusion drawn,
can positively be called fraudulent. What is less clear is whether arguments containing false premises

Essay on Heart Failure
Situation: Two patients in their 70s present to the office at different times today, each with
documented heart failure: one diastolic and the other systolic, and both are hypertensive. First, discuss
the difference between systolic and diastolic heart failure, providing appropriate pathophysiology.
ACEI/ARBs are the only medications prescribed for CHF that have been found to prolong life and
improve the quality of that life. EXPLAIN the mechanism of action of ACEI/ARBs and how they

The characteristic beginning signs of HF include inadequate tissue perfusion and signs of volume
overload. Inadequate blood flow to tissues can be evident by fatigue, shortness of breath, and exercise
intolerance. Volume overload is evident by peripheral and pulmonary edema (fluid collection in the
limbs and on the lungs) and venous distention (due to blood pooling in circulation from back flow in
the heart) (Lehne, 2010). Systolic heart failure is characterized by enlarged ventricles that are unable
to fully contract to pump enough blood into circulation to adequately perfuse tissues. The enlargement
in ventricles is due to an increased end systolic volume. If the heart is not able to sufficiently pump the
expected volume of blood with each contraction, which in a normal healthy heart is 50 60%, there will
be a residual volume left in the heart after every pump (Heart Healthy Women, 2012). With the next
period of filling, the heart will receive the same amount of blood volume from the atria combined with
that residual volume from the previous contraction. This causes the ventricles to have to dilate to
accommodate this increase in volume. The dilation causes the walls of the ventricles to stretch and
become thin and weak. Also the myocardium, the muscle layer of the heart, will stretch and not be
able to adequately make a full and forceful enough contraction to push blood from the ventricles
(Lehne, 2010).

Benefit Package Case Study
Assignment: Provide a detailed comprehensive, benefit package for the growing staff. It must be
balanced and be able to meet everyone s needs, but it has to be financially feasible to support and
realistic. Determine cost sharing, if you elect to do that, and provide pricing as well. Include all
applicable benefits that will be offered (i.e. standard medical/dental, life? std? ltd? holidays,
vacation/pto? flexible work options?)
Most small organizations choose not to have benefits package because they feel as though they can t

No Oedipal Complex Found in Hamlet
Some scholars have interpreted Hamlet s actions throughout Hamlet to be the Oedipus complex.
According to the story of Oedipus, Laius, his father, learned from an oracle that Oedipus would kill
him. Laius then left his son to die on a mountain, where he was found and raised by the King of
Corinth. Oedipus was also told that he would someday kill his own father, and fled Corinth because he
believed that the King of Corinth was his real father. On Oedipus s journey, he passes Laius on the
road, they argue and Oedipus kills Laius, without even knowing Laius was his true father. Oedipus

Economic Factors in Unification of German People in the 19th Century
There is little debate about the factors concerned in nineteenth century German unification, the
argument commences when the most important is put to question. To find the most important we must
surely look to the primary factors, the instigating forces, or seeds if you will, that are required for the
formation of a Nation State. The great Bismarck was a leader that undoubtedly showed much initiative
and many would attribute the unification of the German speakers to his efforts, but the economic
necessaries came long before the man who used them. When the various factors are combined

The land given to Prussia contained large coal and iron mineral deposits and were welcomed for their
advantageous, monetary and military value. Industry grew rapidly from the mineral deposit regions
like the Saar and Ruhr valleys and eventually 80% of the total iron and coal production, in the
zollverien states, was Prussian.
Two primary and almost parallel economic developments enabled the growth and stability of the
German speaking states and one significant development was the formation of a customs union in
1834. With Prussian lands distributed in different areas on the European map due to the Vienna
congress, the commencement of the zollverien was of enormous importance and as we can see in the
following description it was one, not only of liberated trade, but of national identity:
On all the highways of Central Germany heavily laden wagons surrounded by noisy and merry crowds
waited in long queues at the customs houses. With the clock s final stroke of the old year the turnpikes
rose: accompanied by cheers and the crack of whips the horses pulled ahead into the liberated land [3]
Before the improved zollverien the German speaking states had a pretty stagnant, although self
sufficient economy and controlled their own borders, tolls and currency. The dropping of the trade

Impact Of The Attack On Pearl Harbor
How did the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 turn the tide against the Japanese during World War?
INTRODUCTION
In 1933, Hitler became the Führer of Germany. His main goal was to rule over Europe by conquering
those countries as fast as he could, known as the Blitzkrieg. By 1939, he had invaded Austria,
Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia and on the 1 September, Germany invaded Poland. In doing so, Hitler
had broken the non aggression Pact with Russia and the ultimatum with the Allied powers. On 3
September 1939, the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany.
Japan had a similar mind set to that of Germanys, which was to expand into its neighbour s territory
and take over its import market (source F). Japan invaded China in 1937 and later on in 1940, they
signed the Tripartite Pact with Germany and Italy, which meant they were now a member of the Axis
alliance. The United Sates responded to this by imposing sanctions on Japan who was ... Show more

Japan had to plan the attack on Pearl Harbor thoroughly because it was 4000 miles away from Japan,
therefore America would not expect an attack. They planned to bomb the aircrafts that were positioned
very close to each other which made it an easy target (Source F). After months of planning and
practice the Japanese launched their attack, which was a total surprise. According to Source L, the
Japanese attack fleet left its home waters on November 26 towards Pearl Harbor. Vice Admiral
Nagumo, the fleet commander, received his final orders on December 1 and on Dec 7 the battle group
was in position, 275 miles north of Hawaii. Source B states that early military successes helped Japan
prepare for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Source B also states that the attack showcased Japan at its best

between the different types of rental assistance, including project units, Section 8 project based

children, concluding that the educational achievement gap has widened in recent years (Reardon,
2011). To demonstrate this gap numerically for the state of Iowa, the DailyHerald has compiled a
working database on the test score differences, depending on the individual grade of the child and
income bracket of the child s family (Broderick, 2014). Additionally, sociologists Geoffrey Wodtke

versus low poverty children and found that the chances of finishing high school are far lower for
children whose families are in the lowest income bracket than for more economically privileged
children (Wodtke Elwert, 2011). Databases from The College Board reveal that this gap in
achievement also translates into SAT scores, and later acceptance into college. Individual standardized
test scores rise with the income of the student s parents (College Board, 2013). A study conducted by
the University of Pennsylvania went a step further to examine the college graduation

The purpose of this study was to test the production of CO2 in Variegated plants compared to non
variegated plants using leaves from the plant Aegopodium Podagraria. The hypothesis states that if the

coloring. CO2 sensors were utilized in order to measure the production of CO2 of the variegated and
non variegated leaves. The data, which was calculated by a two sample t test assuming equal

It is oftentimes used in salad and soups (L. , 2003). Methods: Using the CO2 sensor to measure the
rate of CO2 intake and the LabQuest data logger, the ability to photosynthesize among variating leaf
colors was tested. Aegopodium Podagraria leaves were collected, three with more than 50 percent
white coloring (experimental group) and three with less than 50 percent white coloring (mostly green,
control group). Three mostly green leaves were first to be tested with the CO2 sensor and paired with
data logger for ten minutes. After this was done, the same procedures were done with the remaining
three leaves that are mostly white. This resulted in three different trials, each using three different
leaves. The experiment took no longer than 70 minutes to conduct. The independent variable was the
variegation of the leaves, while the dependent variable was the GPP. The GPP measures the total
amount of energy generated by the leaves in ppm/minute. A two sample t test assuming equal
variances was performed on the data to show the results of variation between two sample groups.
Results: Figure 1 shows the data that indicated our hypothesis is proven. Variegated leaves are shown
to be more photosynthetically inefficient, by producing more CO2 than variegated leaves in the light.

skills to assist their leisure and recreational needs because not many adaptions have been made. If I
am working with a person who is 80 years old and wants to ability to paint her nails again, I will have
to adapt the tools I am given so she can grip the nail polish handle again. When I am working with
kids I must be aware of what stage they are at in life. If they are in preoperational stage they won t
have the ability to think how others feel. Also, knowing that they are in this stage I can utilize what
activities we do because this stage they are known for engaging in a lot of symbolic play. Lastly,
lifespan development influences my career because it helps me understand who they are and why they
act the way they do. If a young girl has an eating disorder, I could find the what s causing it. I might

Wouldn t it be so cool to talk to them too? Being able to learn their ways, their literature, their world.
That would be pretty darn awesome. I usually always convinced myself that learning Spanish was a

After being decently proficient in speaking Spanish, I realized that learning another language wouldn t

WHY ON EARTH did I think I could do this?! I screamed in my head. Russian was by far the most

How Business Has Affected Sports
Throughout the ages sport has always taken some form, whether it was to train the armies during the
medieval era to the current explosion that has become the global football industry. This essay will
discuss whether or not sport has become a subject that is no longer just about itself, but has gained a
heavy focus on business more so than itself. To do this, the essay will look at how business has
affected two sports sectors and their elite level of sport, by delving into the way in which it has
affected the English Premier League (Football) and the National Football League (American
Football).
If you were to go and ask a random person on the street to name a sport that they know, the likelihood
of them replying with football would be up there with one of the top group of responses, as in recent
years it has experienced a high growth rate in terms of money invested and global participators. When
looking at this from an outside angle however, the question is whether or not these recently formed
teams and leagues have been created for the love or the sport, or have they seen the potential to earn a
high level of revenue and have taken the route of making it a business venture?
To provide background in order to formulate and answer to this question we can look at the history of
the English game and the formational of the globally recognised Premier League . In the 1991 1992

Causes of increased groundwater levels include inefficient and excessive irrigation, river regulation
and, the prime cause, the clearing and replacing of deep rooted native trees for shallow rooted crops
and pastures.
Clearing and replacing the deep rooted native trees is an issue as plants absorb water as it is soaked
through the soil. Plant roots remove the excess soil water, causing the groundwater to stay under the
salt level, which is then recycled back into the atmosphere through the plants leaves . Thus the deeper
the plants roots are the more the plant is able to soak the excess water up from the soil. When the deep
rooted vegetation is replaced with shallow rooted plants the excess water cannot be absorbed causing
the excess water/groundwater level to rise which sequentially pushes the salt up through the soil
causing the water to become more saline.
What are the effects of this rise in salinity in the Murray?
When salinity increases, warning signs appear in the landscapes of the affected areas. These warning
signs include things like sick and/or dying trees, declining vegetation, colonisation of tolerant weed
like plants, bare patches where vegetation has died and saline pools in creek beds. These show that the
ecosystem is being affected and at a high rate.
Salinity is serious as it effects many things in the Murray Darling Basin. If it continues to rise the
consequences could be grave and quite long lasting, some

Essay On Linear Regression
From Table 8 and Table 3, we were quickly able to identify that the regression assumptions were not
going to be satisfied and that our dependent variable needed transforming. Looking at the plot in
figure 8, we could see that the residuals of the predictions were not following a straight line. This
indicated that linear regression was not suitable for the data. This led us to transforming the worldwide
box office revenue variable as shown in Table 9. Figures 4 7 showed that the transformed variable
made a huge difference. The linear regression assumptions were satisfied and the residual plots
indicated the residuals followed a linear pattern. Considering Tables 10 13, we were able to find the

Accuracies of around 80% 81% were obtained and this showed that the linear regression model was
strong. It is clear that transforming the dependent variable has a key role in why the linear regression
prediction accuracies are quite high. Considering that only pre release data was used to predict the
worldwide box office revenue and the best model had three independent variables, it is a very high
accuracy and shows how effective linear regression can be. Table 16 and 17 displays the results of the
SVM prediction models. The same three variables that were used to predict the worldwide box office
revenue was used again in the SVM algorithm. The results obtained from the models were slightly
better than the linear regression models. SVM is more advanced then linear regression so it is not
unexpected that SVM has given us a higher accuracy. The SVM models did not exceed the accuracy
of the regression by much. The accuracies of the SVM models ranged from 81% 83%. Nevertheless
the accuracies of the models predicting the worldwide box office revenues are impressive and shows
movie studios how effective pre release data is. From Table 18, we have a good idea as to how

Snow Country A place or Emotional and Psychological state. Snow country is a place in a Western

where snow falls. Though an area, Y. Kawabata, the writer of the book writes in such a way that it
portrays more about a love affair, human feelings, emotions, loneliness, and a state of a person in
isolation. Likewise, the novel reveals how a human relationship can be complicated and arduous at

Sample Jazz Concert Report
Aundria McCadney The night of February 18, 2016 I attended The MTSU Faculty Jazztet concert in
Wright Music Hall. This jazz band consists of David Willford, Don Aliquo, Micheal Parkinson, Jamey
Simmions, Joe Davidian, Patrick Arwater, and Derrek Phillps performed eight jazz selections. The
crowd that night was about 70 80 people, and part were older and the other half was students. When I
think about a jazz performance a drum and piano player did not come to mind. I expected for the show
to be like all the stuff you see on TV about jazz bands with one person singing and the instruments in
the background playing. All the band members were all dressed up in either suits or dress shirt and tie
they all were instrument players. The music ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The members didn t go by the particular order that was on the program when performing the lead
saxophone player just announced each name. All their songs had melody theme which stay in the
chorus of them. The saxophone, flugelhorn and trumpet phrases were all legato during their solos
throughout the pieces. In the dynamics during each of the songs were mezzo forte or higher. When
each person did their solo they crescendo leading to the end of them. I really enjoyed that the lead of
the band explained the background information of every piece that was played I tried to take that into
consideration while listening. If he didn t put his explanation in before each song I wouldn t be able to
understand the main concept. The song that stood out to me the most was Dance Cadaverous, which is
a mood piece. Dance Cadaverous song connected with me more than the others simply because I
could really interpreted the piece. The rest of the songs were challenging to grab the concept of the
title to the actual performance. This piece to me portrays a mix of swing dance to it. Dance
Cadaverous is the definition of the jazz I have heard before on TV and what I

The Ordeal Of Elizabeth Marsh
A biography is defined as a written account of another person s life. The key word in the definition
being another person s life. Biographies are full of great information that can often times make history
fun and exciting. Historical phenomenon is often portrayed through biographies allowing us to see
how society has developed over time and how the past and present may be similar. Although
biographies are full of information often times it is impossible to prove them to be true because they
aren t written by the person themselves. Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh is a great
example of an exciting biography that allows us to learn about British Imperial Rule through someone
else s eyes. In Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh it becomes clear very quickly just how
much British Imperial Rule effected Elizabeth s life. British Imperial Rule was so strict that Elizabeth
was forced to marry a man that would offer her the most social advancement not only for herself but
for her father as well. She originally was supposed to marry Henry John Phillips because his family
was very high up on the social latter, however it didn t end up working out. Instead Elizabeth marries
pretends and later marries James Crisp, not necessarily because of love but again because of the social
standings that come with it. James Crisps social and financial background was much greater than
Elizabeth s lowering his overall wealthy and social standing. The seven year war also had

Essay about The Signs and Effects of Autism
The Signs and Effects of Autism
Autism is a rare disease that has been noticed for centuries. The purest form of autism (high IQ and
almost normal behavior yet still self contained) occurs in about one in 2,000 people . When the many
other forms of autism are added in, the ratio is one in 750 . Autism is found in every race, ethnic
group, nation, and social standing, although males outnumber females by four or five times ( Autistic
Disorder 2). Autism is a broad range of disorders that stretch from mild to severe. There are many
theories on the cause of autism, but no definite solution. Because of the broadness of the disease, there
are many types and categories. The effects of autism are frustrating, and hard to ... Show more content

Evidence that genetics is an important, but not exclusive cause, of so called primary autism includes a
three to eight percent risk of recurrence in families with one affected child (Rapin, Isabelle 100).
Autism isn t just one disease but a category of complicated syndromes. Three of the most definable
syndromes are Rett s, Asperger s, and Landua Kleffner. Rett s syndrome is only found in females and
most are retarded. This syndrome develops between the ages of six months to eighteen months. Rett s
begins with a normal state of development, then the victim regresses in skills such as speech, hand
movements, and social skills, along with other signs of central nervous system dysfunction. Females
with Rett s are most prone to having seizures. Asperger s syndrome is affective in both males and
females. After the first few years of life, victims will lose everything they have learned, but will
eventually progress again. People with Asperger s appear to have more verbal and recognition skills.
They also usually show strong interest in subway, bus, and train schedules and maps.
Asperger s syndrome is probably the closest to primary autism . Landua Kleffner syndrome is also
found in males and females. Victims with this

disorder appear normal until between the ages of three to seven, which is when regression is
noticeable. They lose the ability to talk and show

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Analysis
The Epic of Gilgamesh Summary and analysis Introduction The Epic of Gilgamesh is an excerpt of
the original text of the Epic listed in the Sources of the Western Tradition , 5th edition, by Perry, Peden
and Von Laue (2003). The Epic of Gilgamesh is the story of King Gilgamesh who is the powerful king
of Uruk, the incidents in his life, the associations he makes, the encounters he has, and the transition
that occurs in his life in relation to his gaining knowledge of the mortality of human life. The story
further outlines the transformation that Gilgamesh gets with respect to his outlook after the traumatic
death of his friend Enkidu, which makes him to embark on a quest for eternity. Gilgamesh subjects the
people in his kingdom to hard rule. The Gods create Enkidu to counter him. Friendship develops
between Enkidu and Gilgamesh and together they launch adventures for conquests together. In the
process, they kill the terrible monster, Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. For this, they incur the wrath
of Gods, who decide to put an end to the life of Enkidu. Enkidu gets a dream about his impending
death and dies after suffering for a few days with sickness. The death of Enkidu shatters Gilgamesh
who wants to immortalize himself by escaping death. He goes in search of Utnapishtim, who is
blessed with immortality by the Gods. Utnapishtim tells him that death is inevitable for a human and
immortality is impossible to achieve. The Epic of

Huck s Contradiction in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Huck was a boy
who thought very little of himself, but had a huge impact on others. His
moral standing was based on what is easier, right or wrong. He lived the
way he wanted to live, and no one told him otherwise. He had the
adventure of a lifetime, and yet he learned along the way. Although Huck
has certain beliefs about himself, his actions and decisions contradict
these beliefs.
Huck may consider himself lazy, but in reality, he is a very hard
worker. At one point, Huck wants to get away from his father so he comes

I practiced around all day to get the hang of the things, and by and by I
could do pretty well in them (41). If Huck was even remotely lazy he
would have just stayed on the island and enjoyed the freedom. His going
to town as a girl shows that he will do anything to get what he wants,
whereas a lazy person would try to take the easy route. A third time Huck
shows that he is not lazy is when he and two scoundrels, the King and the
Duke, are staying with the daughters of a recently deceased man. The King
and the Duke are trying to get the dead man s assets by pretending to be
his brothers. Huck goes through a lot of work to make sure the girls get
to keep their money: So, thinks I, I ll go search their rooms. So then I

Have Smartphones Destroyed A Generation By Jean M Twenge
Jean M. Twenge despises smartphones! That is the initial reaction to the title of her article Have
Smartphones Destroyed A generation? . This will be an analysis of the effectiveness of the article
written by Jean M. Twenge about the effects of smartphone usage on younger generations. With
modern reliance growing more heavily on smartphones and younger generations being born with these
devices around them, Twenge has gathered information pertaining to this new generational adaption
that began to show signs around 2012. Around 2012, I noticed abrupt shifts in teen behaviors and
emotional states. The gentle slopes of the line graphs became steep mountains and sheer cliffs, and
many of the distinctive characteristics of the Millennial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Twenge presents this information it is made clear why she has taken on this responsibility of
analyzing these trends and social behaviors. Despite all the formal training and experience in this
field, Twenge herself is a part of the target audience. Twenge is a mother of three who states they re
not yet old enough to display the traits of IGen teens, but I have already witnessed firsthand just how
ingrained new media are in their young lives. Throughout the article she provides both personal and
statistical information to enhance her argument and support her findings. These Range from multiple
surveys conducted throughout the country, including one that had been performed on undergraduates
at San Diego State University. An interview with a teen girl from Texas had also been included into
the work, avoiding a bombardment of the reader with evidence and numerical data. By providing this
break from purely logos argumentation she allows the reader to build an emotional connection with
the work; as well as, create a bridge between author and reader. The way she presents the statistical
information in her article is by providing the reader with multiple surveys and studies that show this
new generational data of how teens are becoming less socially interactive in public. while presenting
her information she does show that there

How Varying Enzyme Concentrations Affect Absorbance Over Time in Potato Homogenate Mixture
Haille Armstrong
November 17, 2015
Biology 155 Laboratory Tuesdays 6pm
Lab Partners: Kayla, Morel, Ryan
Abstract
Saturation of substrates was a phenomenon that was observed in Part II of the experiment. This was
referenced from later in the discussion. When the enzyme activity from this experiment was compared
to Enoch s work, (Enoch) it was stated that he found that in certain liver cells of rats, enzyme activity
would stop suddenly. The study proposed that the lower Enoch dropped the substrate concentration
within these cells, the less activity he could record. This proved to both his data and to the date from
this experiment that the substrate was necessary for catalysis, because as enzyme concentration rose,
substrates bound more quickly to the active site of an enzyme. Once all substrates in the mixture were
changed to products, the enzyme was stationary because it had no more substrate to catalyze. This
meant that in order for the reaction to continue, substrate concentration had to increase.
Introduction
To understand how and why the experiment was performed, one must understand what enzymes and
substrates are. Enzymes are defined as proteins that are capable of speeding up a chemical reaction by
reducing the amount of activation energy needed to catalyze that reaction (Raven, Johnson and Mason
2014). Enzymes regulate these biochemical processes

Sexual Violence Against Black Women
According to the 2017 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence survey published by the CDC
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), approximately 35.5% of Black women experience some
type of sexual violence in their lifetime (CDC, 2017). To understand the underlying causes of this
phenomenon, both the sexuality and general experience of Black women need to be understood in
context. It is also important to maintain an intersectional lens, as both identities of Black and woman
are important in understanding the black female experience and the violence that accompanies it
(Crenshaw, Delgado, Matsuda, Lawrence, 2018). I will posit that the high occurrence of sexual
violence against Black women stems in part from the fact that the ... Show more content on

Two prominent examples of popular artists in this position are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. They are
important because their immense popularity has a significant impact on how Black female sexuality is
viewed by mainstream audiences. To begin, Nicki Minaj is a popular rapper who emerged on the
scene in 2004 and with 86.2 million followers, she is the most followed rapper on Instagram (as of
April 2018). In a genre that consistently objectifies Black female bodies, Minaj attempts to assert
agency in her own sexual representation, an example of which is on the left in figure 1 below. Cardi B
is a more recent rapper, who broke out in 2017 with her hit single Bodak Yellow. The song broke
records as it stayed on the Hot 100 list for three consecutive weeks, making her the only female rapper
to do so since 1998. Similarly, to Minaj, Cardi B also attempts to assert control over her sexuality,
making a poignant statement by wearing an A (á la Hester Prynne of the Scarlet Letter), pictured on
the right in figure 1

It s hard to keep secrets or keep things behind doors because there s not really a door that can t be opened by everyone. This is especially true with children and teens going through the ropes of high school. Finding the balance of when a child needs to be disciplined by the parents and when to let the child be more independent with their problem solving or even finding a way to have everyone connect to each other while also providing a comfortable space or bit of a distance from each other can be a hard task for everyone, especially if there are multiple individuals within the family. This example of a family s interesting dynamics that come about can be seen in a show called, The Fosters. In this show, the Foster family lives in San Diego where Stef Foster and Lena Adams (in later seasons being Lena Adams Foster) parent five children, four of them being foster children and one coming from a previous marriage. The children s names are Brandon (17yrs old), who is the oldest, Mariana (16) and Jesus (16), who are twins that were adopted after Stef and Lena got together, and Callie (17) and Jude (13) who are siblings that both got adopted. Stef is the birth mother of Brandon, coming from a previous relationship with another charater named Mike. Just like any typical American family with children, Stef and Lena deal ... In today s time different is not accepted, people that are different are discriminated, looked down upon and usually picked on. People with disabilities are seen as different creatures by most people, the disabled don t choose to be the way they are, but still our society alienates them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is human nature to despise those that are different than normal. Everyone has a different perception of normal and when someone cuts that boundary it results in discrimination. Some people also tend to dislike the disabled due to their own weaknesses, to hide their own failures they will look down upon the handicap to make themselves feel better. Some people s self esteem is so tiny that they have to find someone lower than them to feel superior. Also society perceives the disabled as useless, powerless and inefficient human beings, which also contributes to the ideology that leads to the discrimination against the disabled. Psychological and cultural influences also result in discrimination against the disabled. Hence, we can conclude that the fact that the disabled are different is what leads to the discrimination against them. Direct discrimination occurs when a person with a disability is treated less favourably than a person who does not have a disability. This occurs if a person is discriminated against in the following areas; employment, education and training, provision of facilities, access to public premises, etc... Indirect discrimination will occur where a person imposes a requirement, condition or practice that has the effect of disadvantaging people with a protected attribute, and that is not reasonable. • 5. Narrative Essay On The Halloween Night One night when I was a little kid, I had a nightmare where I felt like I was being watched by someone or something. I was laying on the couch in my grandparents living room. When I woke up, I started to get a weird feeling. Like someone was there, so I slowly sat up. I called out for my grandparents. No one answered so I decided to walk to their bedroom. They were sound asleep. Weird I thought to myself. So I walked back into the living room to check if someone was outside. When I looked out the living room window, I saw a man sitting on the fence in a crouched position: just staring into the house waiting for someone to notice him. I stared at him for the longest time, I slowly backed away from the window. I quickly ran to my room. When laying there in my bed, I lay there feeling scared. I kept getting scared when I thought what if he came into the house. After a while of laying there, I tried to fall asleep. Trying to keep my mind off about what I just saw. Years have passed since and I never had that nightmare again. I usually don t have nightmares as much as when I was younger. More so I do get paranoid quickly from the littlest things. In addition, by repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during the Holocaust. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable. The characteristic beginning signs of HF include inadequate tissue perfusion and signs of volume overload. Inadequate blood flow to tissues can be evident by fatigue, shortness of breath, and exercise intolerance. Volume overload is evident by peripheral and pulmonary edema (fluid collection in the limbs and on the lungs) and venous distention (due to blood pooling in circulation from back flow in the heart) (Lehne, 2010). Systolic heart failure is characterized by enlarged ventricles that are unable to fully contract to pump enough blood into circulation to adequately perfuse tissues. The enlargement in ventricles is due to an increased end systolic volume. If the heart is not able to sufficiently pump the expected volume of blood with each contraction, which in a normal healthy heart is 50 60%, there will be a residual volume left in the heart after every pump (Heart Healthy Women, 2012). With the next period of filling, the heart will receive the same amount of blood volume from the atria combined with that residual volume from the previous contraction. This causes the ventricles to have to dilate to accommodate this increase in volume. The dilation causes the walls of the ventricles to stretch and become thin and weak. Also the myocardium, the muscle layer of the heart, will stretch and not be able to adequately make a full and forceful enough contraction to push blood from the ventricles (Lehne, 2010). ... Oedipus was also told that he would someday kill his own father, and fled Corinth because he believed that the King of Corinth was his real father. Economic Factors in Unification of German People in the 19th Century There is little debate about the factors concerned in nineteenth century German unification, the argument commences when the most important is put to question. To find the most important we must surely look to the primary factors, the instigating forces, or seeds if you will, that are required for the formation of a Nation State. The great Bismarck was a leader that undoubtedly showed much initiative and many would attribute the unification of the German speakers to his efforts, but the economic necessaries came long before the man who used them. The land given to Prussia contained large coal and iron mineral deposits and were welcomed for their advantageous, monetary and military value. Industry grew rapidly from the mineral deposit regions like the Saar and Ruhr valleys and eventually 80% of the total iron and coal production, in the zollverien states, was Prussian. Two primary and almost parallel economic developments enabled the growth and stability of the German speaking states and one significant development was the formation of a customs union in 1834. With Prussian lands distributed in different areas on the European map due to the Vienna congress, the commencement of the zollverien was of enormous importance and as we can see in the following description it was one, not only of liberated trade, but of national identity: On all the highways of Central Germany heavily laden wagons surrounded by noisy and merry crowds waited in long queues at the customs houses. With the clock s final stroke of the old year the turnpikes rose: accompanied by cheers and the crack of whips the horses pulled ahead into the liberated land [3] Before the improved zollverien the German speaking states had a pretty stagnant, although self sufficient economy and controlled their own borders, tolls and currency. His main goal was to rule over Europe by conquering those countries as fast as he could, known as the Blitzkrieg. By 1939, he had invaded Austria, Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia and on the 1 September, Germany invaded Poland. In doing so, Hitler had broken the non aggression Pact with Russia and the ultimatum with the Allied powers. On 3 September 1939, the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany. Much literature providing an overview of housing vouchers distinguishes between the different types of rental assistance, including project units, Section 8 project based assistance, and Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. To demonstrate this gap numerically for the state of Iowa, the DailyHerald has compiled a working database on the test score differences, depending on the individual grade of the child and income bracket of the child s family (Broderick, 2014). Additionally, sociologists Geoffrey Wodtke and David Harding conducted a study to measure the high school graduation rate of high poverty, versus low poverty children and found that the chances of finishing high school are far lower for children whose families are in the lowest income bracket than for more economically privileged children (Wodtke Elwert, 2011). Databases from The College Board reveal that this gap in achievement also translates into SAT scores, and later acceptance into college. CO2 sensors were utilized in order to measure the production of CO2 of the variegated and non variegated leaves. This essay will discuss whether or not sport has become a subject that is no longer just about itself, but has gained a heavy focus on business more so than itself. To do this, the essay will look at how business has affected two sports sectors and their elite level of sport, by delving into the way in which it has affected the English Premier League (Football) and the National Football League (American Football). If you were to go and ask a random person on the street to name a sport that they know, the likelihood of them replying with football would be up there with one of the top group of responses, as in recent years it has experienced a high growth rate in terms of money invested and global participators. When looking at this from an outside angle however, the question is whether or not these recently formed teams and leagues have been created for the love or the sport, or have they seen the potential to earn a high level of revenue and have taken the route of making it a business venture? Salinity is a key significant environmental challenge which the Murray faces and if left unmanaged it could cause serious implications for water quality, plant growth, biodiversity, land productivity, infrastructure and could lead to a loss of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Causes of increased groundwater levels include inefficient and excessive irrigation, river regulation and, the prime cause, the clearing and replacing of deep rooted native trees for shallow rooted crops and pastures. Clearing and replacing the deep rooted native trees is an issue as plants absorb water as it is soaked through the soil. Plant roots remove the excess soil water, causing the groundwater to stay under the salt level, which is then recycled back into the atmosphere through the plants leaves . Thus the deeper the plants roots are the more the plant is able to soak the excess water up from the soil. When the deep rooted vegetation is replaced with shallow rooted plants the excess water cannot be absorbed causing the excess water/groundwater level to rise which sequentially pushes the salt up through the soil causing the water to become more saline. What are the effects of this rise in salinity in the Murray? When salinity increases, warning signs appear in the landscapes of the affected areas. These warning signs include things like sick and/or dying trees, declining vegetation, colonisation of tolerant weed like plants, bare patches where vegetation has died and saline pools in creek beds. These show that the ecosystem is being affected and at a high rate. Salinity is serious as it effects many things in the Murray Darling Basin. Table 16 and 17 displays the results of the SVM prediction models. The same three variables that were used to predict the worldwide box office revenue was used again in the SVM algorithm. The results obtained from the models were slightly better than the linear regression models. The purest form of autism (high IQ and almost normal behavior yet still self contained) occurs in about one in 2,000 people . When the many other forms of autism are added in, the ratio is one in 750 . Autism is found in every race, ethnic group, nation, and social standing, although males outnumber females by four or five times ( Autistic Disorder 2). Autism is a broad range of disorders that stretch from mild to severe. There are many theories on the cause of autism, but no definite solution. Because of the broadness of the disease, there are many types and categories. The effects of autism are frustrating, and hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence that genetics is an important, but not exclusive cause, of so called primary autism includes a three to eight percent risk of recurrence in families with one affected child (Rapin, Isabelle 100). Autism isn t just one disease but a category of complicated syndromes. Three of the most definable syndromes are Rett s, Asperger s, and Landua Kleffner. Rett s syndrome is only found in females and most are retarded. This syndrome develops between the ages of six months to eighteen months. Rett s begins with a normal state of development, then the victim regresses in skills such as speech, hand movements, and social skills, along with other signs of central nervous system dysfunction. Females with Rett s are most prone to having seizures. Asperger s syndrome is affective in both males and females. After the first few years of life, victims will lose everything they have learned, but will eventually progress again. People with Asperger s appear to have more verbal and recognition skills. They also usually show strong interest in subway, bus, and train schedules and maps. Asperger s syndrome is probably the closest to primary autism . Landua Kleffner syndrome is also found in males and females. Victims with this 2 disorder appear normal until between the ages of three to seven, which is when regression is noticeable. Huck s Contradiction in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Huck was a boy who thought very little of himself, but had a huge impact on others. His moral standing was based on what is easier, right or wrong. He lived the way he wanted to live, and no one told him otherwise. He had the adventure of a lifetime, and yet he learned along the way. Although Huck has certain beliefs about himself, his actions and decisions contradict these beliefs. Huck may consider himself lazy, but in reality, he is a very hard worker. At one point, Huck wants to get away from his father so he comes up with a scheme to fake his death and ... If Huck was even remotely lazy he would have just stayed on the island and enjoyed the freedom. His going to town as a girl shows that he will do anything to get what he wants, whereas a lazy person would try to take the easy route. A third time Huck shows that he is not lazy is when he and two scoundrels, the King and the

That is the initial reaction to the title of her article Have Smartphones Destroyed A generation? . This will be an analysis of the effectiveness of the article written by Jean M. Twenge about the effects of smartphone usage on younger generations. With modern reliance growing more heavily on smartphones and younger generations being born with these devices around them, Twenge has gathered information pertaining to this new generational adaption that began to show signs around 2012. Around 2012, I noticed abrupt shifts in teen behaviors and emotional states. The gentle slopes of the line graphs became steep mountains and sheer cliffs, and many of the distinctive characteristics of the Millennial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Twenge presents this information it is made clear why she has taken on this responsibility of analyzing these trends and social behaviors. Despite all the formal training and experience in this field, Twenge herself is a part of the target audience. Twenge is a mother of three who states they re not yet old enough to display the traits of IGen teens, but I have already witnessed firsthand just how ingrained new media are in their young lives. Throughout the article she provides both personal and statistical information to enhance her argument and support her findings. These Range from multiple surveys conducted throughout the country, including one that had been performed on undergraduates at San Diego State University. An interview with a teen girl from Texas had also been included into the work, avoiding a bombardment of the reader with evidence and numerical data. By providing this break from purely logos argumentation she allows the reader to build an emotional connection with the work; as well as, create a bridge between author and reader. The way she presents the statistical information in her article is by providing the reader with multiple surveys and studies that show this new generational data of how teens are becoming less socially interactive in public. while presenting her information she does show that there ... • 49. How Varying Enzyme Concentrations Affect Absorbance Over... How Varying Enzyme Concentrations Affect Absorbance Over Time in Potato Homogenate Mixture Haille Armstrong November 17, 2015 Biology 155 Laboratory Tuesdays 6pm Lab Partners: Kayla, Morel, Ryan Abstract Saturation of substrates was a phenomenon that was observed in Part II of the experiment. This was referenced from later in the discussion. When the enzyme activity from this experiment was compared to Enoch s work, (Enoch) it was stated that he found that in certain liver cells of rats, enzyme activity would stop suddenly. The study proposed that the lower Enoch dropped the substrate concentration within these cells, the less activity he could record. This proved to both his data and to the date from this experiment that the substrate was necessary for catalysis, because as enzyme concentration rose, substrates bound more quickly to the active site of an enzyme. Once all substrates in the mixture were changed to products, the enzyme was stationary because it had no more substrate to catalyze. This meant that in order for the reaction to continue, substrate concentration had to increase. Introduction To understand how and why the experiment was performed, one must understand what enzymes and substrates are. Enzymes are defined as proteins that are capable of speeding up a chemical reaction by reducing the amount of activation energy needed to catalyze that reaction (Raven, Johnson and Mason 2014). Enzymes regulate these biochemical processes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Sexual Violence Against Black Women According to the 2017 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence survey published by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), approximately 35.5% of Black women experience some type of sexual violence in their lifetime (CDC, 2017). To understand the underlying causes of this phenomenon, both the sexuality and general experience of Black women need to be understood in context. It is also important to maintain an intersectional lens, as both identities of Black and woman are important in understanding the black female experience and the violence that accompanies it (Crenshaw, Delgado, Matsuda, Lawrence, 2018). I will posit that the high occurrence of sexual violence against Black women stems in part from the fact that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two prominent examples of popular artists in this position are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. They are important because their immense popularity has a significant impact on how Black female sexuality is viewed by mainstream audiences. To begin, Nicki Minaj is a popular rapper who emerged on the scene in 2004 and with 86.2 million followers, she is the most followed rapper on Instagram (as of April 2018). In a genre that consistently objectifies Black female bodies, Minaj attempts to assert agency in her own sexual representation, an example of which is on the left in figure 1 below. Cardi B is a more recent rapper, who broke out in 2017 with her hit single Bodak Yellow. The song broke records as it stayed on the Hot 100 list for three consecutive weeks, making her the only female rapper to do so since 1998. Similarly, to Minaj, Cardi B also attempts to assert control over her sexuality, making a poignant statement by wearing an A (á la Hester Prynne of the Scarlet Letter), pictured on the right in figure 1 ...
