Why Does Donald Trump Make A Terrible President
First and foremost, web zine articles must include a catchy, insightful, and attention grabbing
headline. The Headline encourages readers to move past the title onto the article. The more attractive
and eye catching the headline looks for the reader to read the text. Without a catchy headline the
article is overlooked. The goal is to attract and maintain readers to read the web zine articles.
Observing a headline it gives a glimpse of what the article is about and whom the article is for. Matt
Terzi titles his article Seven Reasons Why Donald Trump Would Make a Terrible president. Just by
observing the headline the purpose is to provide to his audience seven reasons why Trump shouldn t
be president. Also, the audience is directed towards

Reasons For The LGBT Community To Serve Openly In The...
Why Should the LGBT Community Serve Openly? Why exactly should we allow the LGBT
community to serve openly in the military? There are many reasons that can, in the long run affect us
as a society. Why should we care about other people and the gender that they choose to be? When we
are at war and fighting for our country would that really matter ! These very reasons and many more
are what steer the LGBT community away from the military. The LGBT community should be able to
serve openly in the military because gender identity has nothing to do with physical ability, the ban is
an act of discrimination, and the American Constitution proposes a society based in inclusion not
exclusion. The LGBT community should be able the serve openly in the ... Show more content on

Nivia Huskey will go without being recognized as a parent. If same sex couples are stationed in stated
that go against the act, they will not be given the same rights as men and women ( same sex couples )
in other states. How could anyone, despite their sexual preference, tell their child I am your
mommy/daddy at heart, but because I love and choose to be with your other mommy/daddy legally i
am not represented as your parent , How could you do that, that child would be torn. Yes, they could
move to another state, but she is stationed there therefore they can not move. So, in a sense these
women are not happy, and the government is preventing them from being happy. Anyone will say if
you are happy why should anyone else s opinion matter? It should not, but because today s society is
so twisted in a manner that people feel as if everyone s opinion should matter so, can anyone truly be
happy. These women are not. This example goes well into my next point which is a very valid point,
but will it really matter in today s twisted society ? The LGBT community should be able to serve
openly in the military because the American Constitution proposes a society based on inclusion not
exclusion. Now that it is legal in all 50 states to be married to someone of the same sex, and some of
our perspectives have changed why have the military s standards not changed.

Case Study On Osteoporosis
PART 1
INTRODUCTION
Our group has been given the task for subject Anatomy and Physiology to do a research about
disease. The title of our study is Osteoporosis. The aim of our assignment is to find the information
about the clinical condition that change the normal structures of the bones and how the disease affect
our daily life.
Osteoporosis is a disease that arise when our normal structures of the bone changes as it becomes
fragile and break easily. One interesting fact is that, almost one in two women and one in five men
over the age of 50 will break a bone, mainly due to poor bone health( An Introduction to Osteoporosis,
n.d.).
Osteoporosis is common for post menopausal women. However men, younger women, children and
pregnant women can also be affected. To simply put it,osteoporosis affects all individuals and it is a
part of normal aging although some can develop at an earlier age. However, osteoporosis cannot be
cured but the progression can be delayed or even prevented.

Thus, bone modeling and remodeling preserve skeletal function throughout human life. The bone
remodeling unit normally couples the bone resorption and bone formation. Research by Teitelbaum
and Ross (2003) indicated that, the bone remodeling process regulates the gain and loss of bone
mineral density in the human skeleton and directly influenced bone strength and vice versa. In bone
remodelling process, resorption of extra cellular matrices by osteoclasts is followed by osteoblastic
invasion of the cavity, and subsequent secretion of extra cellular matrix that is then mineralized (Ducy
et al., 2000). These two processes, which together are called bone remodeling, occur continuously
(Riggs et al., 2002). However, due to some of listed factors mentioned above, these processes turn out
to be distracted and cauce osteoporosis (Rouhi,

Persuasive Essay On The Flag
Flags are used by countries for a few reasons beyond just having something to fly in the air.
A country will spend many hours and a lot of money on their flag design because that is their
way of portraying themselves to the rest of the world. Many Americans own and display them
outside their homes, offices, and schools. The flag was there during the Revolutionary War days
and remained there after the attacks of 9/11. Flags can be unifying to a country, and many times
are. The flag makes all American citizens feel like part of a team. Our American flag is a symbol
of pride and freedom for all. The Star Spangled Banner, the national anthem, proclaims, And
the rocket s red glare / the bombs bursting in air / gave proof through the night / that our flag was
still there. Our flag flying through the smoke of warfare gave hope to all Americans, and ever
since the flag has been a symbol of that hope and unity. The flag started as a banner to celebrate
America s freedom and now stands as an icon of world diplomacy. (Online Stores, page 1). As
said before, our flag is greatly tied to freedom. Freedom is a condition in which people have the
opportunity to speak, act, and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions.
Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity, original thought,
increased productivity, and an overall high quality of life. The idea of freedom is complex; it
must be redefined and defended anew

Michael Corleone
Michael Corleone is the new Godfather of the Corleone family. In the original Godfather we see that
Michael is uninterested in joining the Mafia family, and is planning on being a politician. However
over the course of the film he abandons this plan and joins the family business. Michael is a cold
blooded Mafia don with no tolerance for anyone and anything. Compared to Vito, Michael is bolder,
more violent, and more ambitious. He even becomes rich in the casino business something in which
his father stayed away from. Despite being a successful Godfather, Michael proves to be much less
successful in his personal life. Despite his previous views, Michael eventually ends up in the family
business. In the Godfather II, Michael and Hyman Roth seem ... Show more content on

Unlike Michael, while Vito is the Godfather he still cares for his family and stands by them. While
Michael is quick to take his children away from Kay, and turn on loyal friends. Vito comes across as
mellow and relaxed. He has lived a rich, full life and earned a quiet retirement. As we see in the movie
as a young man Vito is caring and devoted, however he is still fierce and violent. Unlike Michael, he
does not let this violence succumb to him and take over entirely. Vito has tried keep his two worlds
separate from one another and not entangle his family and his business. Michael is cold blooded,
ruthless, smart, and determined. His ability to think clearly under fire, to be decisive, and to command
respect makes him an excellent Godfather . Although while Michael made a successful Godfather he
failed to be a successful husband father and brother, unlike his father. Michael gets caught up in the
mafia and his family life suffers from that. He has his own brother murdered, and the rest of his
siblings hate him. Also the difference between Vito and Michael was Vito had friends while Michael
created enemies. Both Vito and Michael got involved in the mafia in very different ways. Vito created
the mafia after he returned to Sicily and became partners with Don Tommasino. By the early 1930s,
Vito has organized his criminal operations as the Corleone crime family, the most powerful in the
nation. Michael got involved when his father died and he had to step

Essay On DNA Protein
Dr Sleeman From DNA to secreted protein: describe the key molecular events required and their
organisation within the cell
The genome, all the genetic material encoded within the sequence of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA),
which is unique to each individual organism, has all the information required for a cell to sustain life.
This is possible due to gene expression which is the process of the genetic code, DNA, being
translated into proteins which a cell can then utilise for specific functions whether it be a unicellular or
multicellular organism. Through this process there are many steps taken from the raw genetic code to
the finished protein, the cell ensuring each step progresses without mistake and that the resulting

2017.). This is shown in figure 1. A eukaryotic organism can also have promoters and repressors,
though there are more ways in which a gene can be regulated. For instance, DNA in eukaryotic
organisms binds tightly to histones, a type of protein, and this forms chromatin. Depending on how
decondensed the chromatin is can affect how easily the gene can be transcribed
(www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. 2017.). Processes such as these are needed throughout all branches of life,
and once a gene is no longer being repressed it can then be transcribed.
Transcription is the copying of a strand of DNA, called the template strand, to form single stranded
messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA).

Illustrated in figure 2 is transcription, which is broken down into three stages. First the RNA
polymerase binds to the DNA at a promoter region, this promoter region contains sequences which
allow binding of the RNA polymerase. The second stage of transcription is elongation, as the DNA is
unwound the RNA polymerase forms the singled stranded mRNA molecule. Like with DNA, the RNA
is made of nucleotide bases with the exception that instead of thymine there is uracil. As the RNA
polymerase forms the mRNA, complementary bases pair up guanine with

Believe In Divorce
Do you believe in divorce? Do you believe it is better for the child or children in the middle of the
divorce? I believe it isn t, because a girl now 17 named Kristina Herrndobler says even though she has
no memory of the trauma, but she still has an abiding skepticism of marriage. Also, in the United
States almost 50% of marriages end in divorce, which means 50% of people in the U.S will either see
the effects of divorce or feel them first hand. This should not be taken lightly because a portion of that
50% are children and since they are so impressionable, being that children are often sheltered from
sorrow and sadness this can leave them emotionally scarred for the rest of their lives . I believe that
divorce can leave children psychologically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe differently, because I ve been through two divorces and in actuality they often make things
more tense and cause more arguments than before the divorce was even done and over with. Divorce
comes with hurt, sorrow, and many negative effects on the future of everyone involved. Divorce gives
children an increased risk of depression, anxiety, anger issues, trust issues, learning disabilities and
other psychological problems that they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives which they
have a lot left to live of. As I said above even a woman now 26 has fears of being with someone any
less than perfect because of what she went through as a child. Research has shown that the trauma of
divorce follows everyone involved through the rest of their lives even if it is the past and even if all
that follows them is memories it is all still negative. Divorce comes with custody battles and with
those come arguing and tension that is unnecessary which leads to more frustration and sadness which
all comes down to just complete negativity. On top of all of that it brings upon unnecessary financial
problems that could be avoided through therapy and even just being civilized and not being selfish. So
before you say divorce is better for the well being go and check some statistics because 99% of them

Depression Is A Mood Disorder
Depression is a mood disorder that affects every one out of five adolescents by the time they become
adults (Dryden Edwards 1). It does not seem unlikely that people are more prone to developing
depression in their teen years due to the various physical, emotional, psychological and social changes
that occur during this point of one s life. The human body experiences different developmental
changes while going through puberty, causing a teen to have fluctuating moods. Puberty, along with
juggling school, work, sports, clubs, and spending time with family and friends causes one to feel
overwhelmed and have excessive stress. Adolescents fill up their schedules with these activities,
scrabbling to find room to get a decent amount of sleep, exercise, and eat healthy. There is no time left
for the teen to relax and have some alone time to recoup, which helps to relieve all the stress. So, the
teen feels overwhelmed and unable to handle all the different obstacles being thrown in their path all
at once. Often, it may lead the teen to try to avoid their responsibilities and problems, throwing up one
of the first warning signs of depression. Every human being has feelings and reactions caused by daily
life events, but it is a problem when mood begins to interfere with functioning and completing even
the simplest of tasks. When teens moods disrupt their ability to function on a day to day basis, it may
indicate a serious emotional or mental disorder that needs attention

Rear Window Scene Analysis
The Rear Window clip that was provided to us begins with a medium shot of Jefferies looking out of
his window. Jefferies s eyes are being used as index vectors that set up the following subjective shot of
the newly weds inside of their kitchen. The shots of Jefferies eyes looking out of frame let us know
that when the shot changes we are looking from his perspective. This particular moment in the clip
represents the Hitchcockian voyeuristic theme that the film is based on. The scene then fades out (to
black) and then back in (into the next scene) by the use of dissolves. This editing technique represents
the passing of time. The scene opens with another courtyard pan but this time it is dusk and the sun is
setting. The sound for this scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, we see a mysterious shadow (creating with interior lighting) cast over Jefferies as he is asleep
in his chair. This is where Lisa is introduced into the film with a close up as she approaches Jefferies
and he then he grins as a way to show that he is happy to see her. His grin is friendly and causes a shift
in the audiences initial perception of the mysterious woman. The close up utilizes the entire frame to
capture Grace Kelly s natural beauty. Lisa then leans in for a slow motion, soft focus kiss. The kiss is
her way of greeting Jefferies, which in turn, immediately establishes their romantic relationship. She
then seamlessly makes her way around the apartment turning on three lights while introducing herself
to Jefferies in a playful manner. The comfortability of her movements suggests that she is familiar
with the arrangement of his apartment due to the fact that she has been there enough times to become
familiar with his place. Her movement also engages the idea of female exhibitionism and the male
gaze. Her poses and twirling movements shows that she is very confident and likes to be looked at.
Lisa s costume a beautiful dress complimented by her pearl earrings and necklace set suits her
character perfectly. She is a women with exquisite taste and immaculate style. Their tone throughout
the conversation is a playfully sarcastic way of flirting with each other. This initial interaction sets up
their relationship which is the true hidden plot of the

Essay About My Best Friends
Best friends forever we said. We pinky promised it would be for a lifetime, but I learned that some
things change. Faith and I had the average friend relationship when we were younger. We would tell
each other secrets, help each other with homework, have slumber parties and play dates, and just be
fun kids together. Since we were in preschool, we were always there for each other through the ups
and downs of childhood. We loved each other like no other, or so I thought. It started off as one of my
favorite days in the world. It was mid December, the snow fell for what seemed like hours on end. I
always have loved these days. The ones where you sit at home with your family at night and drink hot
chocolate while the snow is falling outside. My birthday was a couple days before, while Christmas
would soon come after. Christmas songs heard all over; on the radio, at home, in school, it was such a
joyous time of year. I couldn t be more happier. Laying in bed late at night, I received a text message
from faith. This wasn t an unusual occurrence as faith and I talked quite often. Half asleep I started
reading the message. Assuming it was some secret that she just found out about our classmates, or a
funny meme, I didn t think I had anything to worry about. That was until I saw the words terrible
friend . She wrote that we shouldn t be friends anymore and how she hasn t liked me for a while, that I

A Barriers For Peace, Or A Barrier To Peace
A Barrier for Peace, or a Barrier to Peace?
Introduction/ Background
Walls are usually built by humans to achieve the purpose of security and privacy. But, what if a wall
was built to limit the movement of hundreds of thousands of people separating them from their lands
and relatives and preventing them from practicing their fundamental daily rights? This is the case in
Palestine; where Israel has constructed a physical wall that isolates Palestinians in the West Bank and
significantly affects their daily life.
The Apartheid Wall as named by the Palestinians, or the Security Fence as named by Israelis is a 709
Kilometer barrier that extends through the Palestinian West Bank separating it from Israel (B Tselem,
2011). The Wall is a multi layered fence system consisting of razors, stones, concrete, barbered wires
along with checkpoints and watchtowers. The concrete sections of the Wall, near Jerusalem, Ramallah,
and Bethlehem, are more than 8 meters high, more than twice the height of the famous Berlin Wall.
Israel started constructing the Wall in 2002 after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Dany Tirza (2012), the IDF s chief architect for the Separation Wall , says that Israel views the
wall no more than a physical barrier intended to provide peace and security for both sides. Tirza

that accuse the Wall of annexing lands and destroying the lives of the Palestinians. Tirza emphasizes
the point that the only reason for building the wall is security, with no settlement or political goals. He
furthermore states that the Wall enables the two sides to lead their lives separately (para. 7). He
accuses Palestinians of exaggerating their suffering and manipulating the public opinion by claiming
that the Wall is built for settlement, annexation, and endorsing pressure on the

The Aids Epidemic Of Haiti Essay
When a fatal disease becomes known to a society but lacks explanation our instinct as humans is to
jump to conclusions, whether they are logical or not. We bargain with our faith, we search for any
evidence to support our conjectures, we deny the truth of the disease, and we place blame on each
other. All of these desperate acts of justification are driven by fear fear of the unknown. The
combination of fear and ignorance that pushes people to make conclusions is readily notable in the
AIDS epidemic of Haiti. Haitians reacted to AIDS in a similar manner as other cultures, but there are
also differences that are specific to their community. Like many cultures, Haitians reasoned the
occurrence of AIDS with explanations beyond the scope of medicine, with diseases that were known
to them, or were instead in complete denial. The uniqueness of the occurrence of AIDS in Haiti was
that there was no direct cause that could be addressed. Thus, while under significant scrutiny as the
origin of AIDS, Haitians reacted to the epidemic by blaming the existence of AIDS on poor
socioeconomic status, on sorcery, and on other people or countries.
As part of their reaction to AIDS, Haitians had a propensity to attribute the existence of AIDS to poor
populations. AIDS is indeed more prevalent among the lower socioeconomic class in Haiti, but the
perception as to why this pattern occurred went beyond the simple interpretation that AIDS was a
disease of the poor. In The Exotic and The

Research Paper On William Carey India
William Carey spent his years as a missionary in the country of India, arriving first in Calcutta, then
relocating to Serampore. Over 100 years before Carey stepped foot on the ground of India, Job
Charnok chose the place of Calcutta, India to be a place for a British trade settlement. Job Charnok
was an agent of the East India Company. He spent a plethora of time searching for the best place for
the site. This site was the perfect spot because it was protected by the Hooghly River on the west side,
a creek to the north, and two and a half miles to the east there were salt lakes. There were also three
large villages that were also owned by the British. The emperor of India at that time granted the
company freedom of trade if they paid them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1800, Carey started the Serampore Mission Press. This press was a huge accomplishment in his life.
He was then able to use this press to publish the Bengali prose, as well as print countless Bibles in
multiple different languages for the people of India. This included the Bengali translation of the Bible,
which Carey reformed from its fallen state into the most prominent language of the region. He was
then able to use this Bible that he published in order to spread the gospel even farther into the crevices
of India. This was not the only translation that the Mission Press was able to publish. Between 1801
and 1832 the press printed 212,000 copies of books in 40 different languages. Even though that was a
huge accomplishment, it was seen as a passive role in the culture. Only people of higher standards of
living like landlords and businessmen, were able to seize the opportunity for higher education for their
children. They sent their children to the schools of the missionaries. On the other side of the spectrum,
people from the lower classes were unable to send their children to those schools. They sent them to
the monitorial schools around them, which is basically provided a basic education for the students.
During this same time, the Serampore Mission Press bought out the English Daily, which was a
newspaper in that area.

Effects Of Pollution And Environmental Degradation
Pollution and Environmental Degradation are things that the large majority of humans contributes to
some small or large way on the daily. Whether it is our mode of transportation, throwing a piece of
trash on the ground, buying products made from trees, and to be perfectly honest the concentration in
which we live, by which I mean the proximity of the average residents in which we reside. These all
seem like regular everyday things that are just normal. But in the past things like these were so beyond
the norm that they would seem alien and impossible. The first matter that I pointed out, our mode of
transportation, differs from person to person. There are those that have decided to either not use any
fossil fuel burning vehicular modes of transportation, such as walking and riding bikes; while others
have decided to greatly decrease their ecological footprint by using various forms of carpooling,
whether it being literal carpooling with friends or coworkers, or taking modes of mass transportation
such as buses and subways or underground railways. According to a survey 91% of people drive to
work in their personal vehicles; and 204 million personal vehicles are regularly used. And though not
everyone throws their trash directly on to the ground, and most that do don t do it completely
intentionally. I do have to say that a large amount of Americans do not take the time to make sure that
their trash and garbage is disposed of properly. Some do not invest in having both

Compare And Contrast Of Mount Of Holy Victory, By Paul...
One of Paul Cezanne s exquisite paintings was that of Mount Sainte Victoire. Dating back to around
1902, Cezanne s mount of holy victory painting has many unique characteristics that make it unlike
other paintings of that time. Cezanne s style encompasses many aspects of modernism within it.
Modernism is the idea that the world is represented by experiences, rather than as one may have
thought it to previously be. In this work of art, Cezanne uses a few contrasting colors and creates
several implied lines that draw the eye to notice the volumes in which the space is filled. He uses color
in the way in which it constructs a three dimensional view, while constructing form. Cezanne had a
unique process of painting that did not reflect nature.

The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States
The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles,
conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience.
As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction
uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the
Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s
role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment
and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order.
Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent
in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with
a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009,
169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its
manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the
Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives
in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing
American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating

Business Intelligence And Marketing Analytics Essay
Blogs / job portals / special interest groups take on BI and BA
Business intelligence and business analytics... aren t they the same thing?Or are they describing
opposite processes? There are a lot of big words that get thrown around in the world of BI, and it s
easy to get lost in a whirlwind of interpretation. The diversity of opinion reflects the fluidity of how we
understand the defining language of the field. It also demonstrates that in business intelligence, one
term can mean different things to different people, depending on their business focus and their
perspective.Though it is commonly called the BI field, the number of Google searches for business
analytics have risen sharply in the past 10 years vs. a mild decline for business intelligence (google).
I went through various blogs and special interest groups that are formed around these two terms i.e.
business intelligence and business analytics. One common thing that I found is that most of them
consider business intelligence and analytics as distinct but connected tools. They described business
intelligence as a tool that provides a way of amassing data to find information primarily through
asking questions, reporting, and online analytical processes. On the other hand, business analytics take
advantage of statistical and quantitative data for explanatory and predictive modeling. Analytics
focuses on solutions oriented capabilities which create value and convert information into knowledge.

Analysis Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The poem The Epic of Gilgamesh is considered to be the first documented work of literature, which
originated in Uruk, a city state located along the channel of the Euphrates River in Sumer. The
Sumerians were the first civilization in Mesopotamia to devise a system of written language, which
consisted of wedge shaped characters that were inscribed in clay tablets. This system of writing is
known as cuneiform, and it was used to record The Epic of Gilgamesh. Throughout this epic poem,
Gilgamesh, the king and ruler of Uruk, encounters a number of religious figures that sheds light upon
the history and culture of the Mesopotamians. It is apparent from the start of the poem, that the people
of Uruk centered their entire lifestyle around the many deities of the polytheistic Sumerian religion.
Gilgamesh himself was the son of the goddess Ninsun and king Lugulbanda, and was considered to be
one third human, and two thirds god. Gilgamesh also encounters Utnapanishtim, who was gifted with
immortality from the gods after serving as a heroic savior during a great flood, in which the biblical
story of Noah s Ark alludes to. Furthermore, The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the most significant
literary works in history; it has influenced and shaped the course of western literature, in molding the
first archetypes of an epic hero, and in its use of literary devices. Generally, people who are schooled
in the United States are first introduced to the concept of an epic hero, and the use of

the work of Laing (1960) and Szasz (1960) can be rooted in the Fruedo Marxist methodological
individualism of critical theory (Rogers Pilgrim, 2010: 14), or even a broader constructionist critique
of medical truth, it just as easily lends itself to a more limited historicist Libertarian reading: mental
illness as socio political deviance within an encroaching state (Sumner, 1994). Within this interface
must be located the panoply of iconographic representation (Shorter, 1997: 273) within wider mass
culture: Sumner cites the example of Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest as salacious and
sensational as it may be which became, for a generation, a precipitation of populist anti sentiment
towards psychiatric institutions and their operative physicians. It is clear then that the dialectic of
mind and its healer transcends theoretical partitions, spans academic disciplines, and crosses the great
divide to take up its place within the popular consciousness. Considering this, and also

Stressors Definition
Stressors have been an important aspect of our class journals each week through the semester. Which
leads to the question of where do these stressors come from and why? Stressors are a source of strain
that has both an objective and subjective view. Objectively, in a work setting it is based on how much
you put into the work and the number of hours you are completing. Whereas subjectively, involves
more of the perception of the work and how the work is being done. Strain is the response to these
stressors, which include behavioral, physical and psychological aspects. Behavioral strain has an
impact on a person s ability to perform in the work place and how their feelings have an impact on the
quality of the performance. A physical response is when something is concretely happening to you and
you can feel the strain and pressure from the outcome. The third response is almost a final point of
how a person feels which is psychological. They are burned out mentally and result in anxiety and ...

The separation I am referring to is the actions of my brothers wife. She has problems with my family
for reasons we are not entirely clear of. She herself has a young daughter and a son from my brother in

Through The Misty Panes And Thick Green Sea By Wilfred Owen
Owen continues writing, Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, / As under a green sea, I
saw him drowning. / In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, / He plunges at me, guttering,
choking, drowning (13 16). These lines from Owen s poem emphasized the dreadful atrocity of WWI:
Chemical Warfare. The word pane means A framed sheet of glass in a window or door. Owen used the
word pane to describe the two clear glass lenses of the gas mask. The description by Owen of green
colored gas figuratively provides the reader an illusion of being underwater; however, chlorine gas
floating in the air is literally green in color (CDC). Chlorine gas kills its victims by reacting with water
in the lungs to form hydrochloric acid. This strong acid deteriorates the lining of the lungs and causes
its victims to drown while standing on dry land (Fitzgerald 613). Owen knew this particular soldier
was doomed because of the lethality of inhaling poisonous chlorine gas. Nonetheless, government
propagandists refused to reveal the horrifying reality of inhumane deaths caused by chemical warfare.
If this truth were disclosed, people would realize that soldiers were expendable objects with no
guarantees of a dignified death.
Owen states, If in some smothering dreams you too could pace / Behind the wagon that we flung him
in, /... (17 18). These lines described the carnage after a chemical attack. Even though the soldier was
dead and lying in a burial wagon, Owen

Florence Nightingale Contributions
Florence Nightingale was born May 12th, 1820 named after Florence, Italy, where she was born. At
just one year old Florence moved to England because her father owned Lea Hurst, a country house, in
Derbyshire and was extremely wealthy. When Florence was five years old, her mother Fanny
convinced her husband to move to Emely Park where the Nightingales would have more
entertainment. Although this made Fanny happy, Florence was miserable with the consistent guests
and chatter. She preferred to be alone with her thoughts. Growing up she was only taught the things a
good wife and mother would need to know, including; music, dance, needlework and art lessons. In
the 1800s women weren t expected to receive an education based on the core subjects, they learned
things that would help them become the best care taker they could be. Since Florence was considered
upper class, it was highly unlikely for her to ever have a job. But as Florence grew older she became
very neat and organized. She enjoyed numbers and placing data into tables. At the age of eight she
taught herself French and always did the right thing because she believed that s what god wanted.
Once Florence turned twelve her father, William Nightingale insisted on her and Parthenope, her older
sister, to be well educated. William taught his two daughters the following languages; Latin, Greek,
French, Italian, and German. Then he had them learn all about history, philosophy, ethics,
composition, the bible, and mathematics.

Negative Impacts Of Deforestation
Impacts of Deforestation
Deforestation is the clearing of wide areas of forests for the purpose of using the land or the resources
in the area. Two highly demanding products that are causing deforestation around the world are palm
oil and cocoa. However, in the process of growing these products trees are removed from the area in
order to be converted into palm and cocoa plantations. As a result, many animal habitats are ruined,
and an abundance of trees are cut releasing carbon dioxide into the air contributing to climate change.
Increased demand for products containing ingredients such as palm oil and cocoa are just two of the
reasons the rate of deforestation is escalating resulting in the exploitation of animal habitats and
worsening the effects of climate change. Many small countries main income is through exporting
agricultural products. Therefore, as demand increases countries will do whatever they need to do to
meet the demand. Often, corners are cut, and there are many negative consequences. Palm oil is an
ingredient that is found in many consumer products that are on the market. Companies should be held
responsible for where the ingredients of their products come from and should be held accountable to
source products such as palm oil in a sustainable way which does not contribute to deforestation
(Larsson). Many areas are currently cutting down trees in order to convert the land into palm oil
plantations. One example would be in the Borneo rainforest. Naomi

Phil Collen And The Left Of The Band Members Essay
Phil Collen and the rest of the band members had first hand visualizations of how alcohol was slowly
taking a toll on their close friend. Clark became an unpredictable and unstable figure, which
emotionally affected the band moving forward. Without question Steve Clark was one of the most
talented and promising guitarists in the 80s, which was a fact that did not allude Phil Collen. As a
result, in 1989: Guitarist Phil Collen, along with longtime producer Mutt Lange, bandmates and
friends, held an intervention [...] after a doctor warned of the drastic harm Clark was doing to himself
(Chris Ford Ultimate Classic Rock). It was a highly emotional and tough experience for everyone
involved, especially for Phil Collen after the doctor informed the band of an alarming statistic: [...]
that about 70 percent of alcoholics who get to this level usually end up getting killed either by
accident or overuse (Chris Ford Ultimate Classic Rock). The unintentional foreshadowing was a result
of Clark s unwillingness and stubbornness to get sober; however, he saw how much love and care he
was receiving from those closest to him. Consequently, Clark was given a leave of absence from the
band; however, was assured his place in the band was waiting for him once his health improved.
Eventually, Clark checked into a rehab clinic in Tuscon, Arizona: where he met his future wife and
recovering heroin addict Janie Dean. The two build a strong foundation of trust and communication

Mixed Ability Research Paper
Ability setting and mixed ability classes In 2006 the Department for Education and Skills (DfES)
published a document to serve as guidance for schools across the UK about the benefits of grouping
and setting according to age and ability, for teachers and for students (DfES, 2006). The never ending
search for strategies to attain better results lead policy makers in the UK to continue the promotion of
setting pupils by ability, despite research suggesting no consistent evidence that structured ability
grouping will produce positive effects on attainment on any particular group of pupils (Hallam Ireson,
2005). Nonetheless, research suggests that it may have negative effects on particular groups of pupils
in terms of personal and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research also suggests that teachers tend to feel the pressure of government guidance s and school s
ethos and policies as an important force in determining their beliefs (Hallam Ireson, 2003), but their
attitudes towards teaching seem to be mostly influenced by their experience in their subjects with their
classes (Hallam Ireson, 2003; Hallam Ireson, 2005; Kutnick, Blatchford, Clark, MacIntyre, Baines,
2005). The government guidance acknowledges that setting doesn t guarantee full homogeneity within
the groups and therefore differentiation is still necessary in lessons, as they need to be tailored
specifically to their profile and allow the implementation of strategies that able pupils to be stretched
in their different capacities (DfES, 2006). Nevertheless, intelligent use of group setting would allow
teachers to plan with more confidence, allocate resources like teaching assistants to more demanding
groups (DfES, 2006), and differentiate their approach to different groups. The main argument in favor
of setting pupils by ability tends to be that more able pupils need some form of separate grouping and
an environment where they can freely be stretched to the maximum of their potential without feeling
inhibited by their peers (Hallam Ireson, 2003; Hallam Ireson, 2005; Hallam, Rogers, Ireson, 2008).
Most research supports this argument and there is an overall agreement amongst teachers in the

Analyze The Ways In Which Television Has Effected Education
In chapter 10 Postman discusses the ways in which television has effected education. He uses the
example of Sesame Street quite a lot throughout the chapter. He begins by stating Sesame Street was
almost guaranteed to be successful with children due to the fact that having children learn through
essentially commercials is nothing new. While the show is educational it is still pure entertainment. He
continues of to say that Sesame Street actually goes against traditional book learning but puts of a
front that it teaches children to love school. It does not teach children to love school, but rather to love
television. Going to a classroom is a place where the children can interact socially and the television
show isolates them, in a classroom

Marines Of Bravo Company Essay
The Marines of Bravo Company When a pair of Cobra helicopter gunships thumped overhead, flying
north, presumably on their way to battle, Marines pumped their fists in the air and screamed, Yeah!
Get some! This quote was taken from the article, The Killer Elite, written by Evan Wright. The article
follows Sergeant Brad Colbert and Bravo Company, First Reconnaissance Battalion as they begin their
invasion of Iraq. Being a Marine combat veteran myself, I can relate to the Marines of Bravo
Company. Sergeant Colbert and his team were the prime example of camaraderie, a bond which
helped them endure the action and adversity of a combat deployment because war by its very nature
can be exciting, scary, and challenging. Foremost, when Sergeant Colbert and the Marines of Bravo
Company received the news from headquarters that their unit would be included on the frontlines for
the invasion of Iraq they were ecstatic. Wright writes, Nearly every Marine I ve met is hoping this war
with Iraq will be his chance to get some. According to Wright every Marine is waiting for their
opportunity to have the adventure that they signed up for. That is exactly how I felt when I joined the

Adam Corolla Usc Lecture Essay
Adam Carolla Lecture Paper
One of the basic tenets of life is that greater opportunities will appear to individuals that actively
pursue and know how to recognize them. Since the majority of us do not have the luxury of being
born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam
Carolla begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He
explains that it is easier and more useful to understand how to sell something and continue selling it
again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of money. As a student
that had performed poorly in high school, he worked a variety of jobs including carpet cleaner and
boxing trainer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of
motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of high school and the pain he felt
from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a
bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using pain as
a motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another
important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well regardless
of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or
even the third. However, this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at
any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to get in the habit of doing things well and
not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest
ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to
employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to take
advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the
time to understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the
opportunity does come. In

Comparison Of The Chrysler Building And The Seagram Building
When thinking of buildings that were ahead of their time two come to mind the Chrysler Building and
the Seagram Building. Both of these structures were built to withstand the elements of time and are
still beautiful to this day. These buildings have been featured on the cover of magazines, tv shows and
are modern marvels in today s society. Between the two buildings, one can not help but look at the
similarities as well as the differences between the two. Today I want to discuss these differences as
well as the similarities and go into greater detail on why these buildings are significant. The Chrysler
Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper that was built during one of the most severe economic
downturns in this country s history. The building was finished in the year 1930 and is located in New
York City. The Chrysler Building was constructed using stainless steel over an exposed building
surface which was a first for its time (History of Walter P. Chrysler and the Chrysler Building, n.d.).
The next important thing to think about when understanding the Chrysler Building is to figure out
what it was designed for. Although the building was not owned by Chrysler it was used for the
corporation s offices which used the building until the mid 1950 s (Chrysler Building, n.d). Next,
when one looks at the Chrysler Building they can tell it represents an Art Deco style by its many
unique features. The Chrysler Building represents the Art Deco style because of its monuments,

The Theory Of Observational Learning
The concept of observational learning is very complex. While some don t believe it, some only live by
it. The reason why I chose to talk about this type of learning in particular is because I use it myself in
my everyday life. Observational learning is a new concept that schools should start trying to break the
standard of basic learning. Observational learning keeps kids interested, but most importantly keeps
them learning and making that knowledge impact them for years to come.
The problem with observational learning is that not everyone knows exactly what it means, or how it
works. Poel hear observational learning and think it s just images and production in order to teach,

Reading the steps of how something is done without any images or actions doesn t make me learn or

proven theories, people still don t understand why this even works. Some people go as far to say it
only works for certain field of study. The problem is some people think observational learning only
works for those studies that use their hands on the regular bases, not a mental stand point. The
problem is they just don t get how it really works. This problem is one Geer talks about continually in
his journal stating, Problems in distinguishing between performance and learning also derive from the
multiplicity of definitions of learning. (Douglas) What the idea is, is that because there are so many
concept of learning and how people learn it s hard to push all of these qualifications into one category
like observational learning when it could already be part of the other concepts. Yet, there is one author
who takes a very smart approach on this and explain how this type of learning could actually be

Civilians Vs California
Farmers vs Civilians Envision yourself, about to complete a straightforward, everyday thing such as
washing the dishes, suddenly to your surprise there is no water coming out of the faucet. Well for the
civilians of East Porterville this is their reality. California has always had very lenient and ineffective
groundwater regulations. Today, this has become a major issue, especially with California s severe
drought. The regulation of the aquifer is a necessity because cleanliness is a basic human right and by
not regulating the groundwater and leaving civilians with no working water, that right is taken away.
The right to bathe, wash your hands, and have a working toilet is simply no more. Furthermore there
are scientific statements, proving that excessively pumping groundwater will lower the water levels,
which will likely lead to the land level sinking as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Professionss For Women By Virginia...
Virginia Woolf is a famous novelist, critic, and essayist. She is most known for her novels such as:
Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both
fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is
another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf gave
on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her message
about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies. These
strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and the
inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences.
Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and
she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech
Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed vastly
to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a rhetorical
question that states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what professional
experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant modernists of her
century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving this speech. This
helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a peer than a superior
figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made herself more trustworthy
and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf makes yet another
understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one. Considering that
Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but simple. Yet by
making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her personality and what she
thinks of herself. Through this statement, Woolf has proved her humility and that she views herself as
just another human being. The first understatement allowed her to be more

The Underground Railroad Analysis
Unraveling History within The Underground Railroad While Colson Whiteheads, The Underground
Railroad (2016) memorializes slavery, it also broadens our otherwise unrealistic views of American
history. The novel follows a young slave girl, Cora, on her historic venture through delusional
America on the Underground Railroad, shortly after the congress passed the Compromise of 1850
(285). As Cora travels north, she discovers that every state individually expresses different attributes
of slavery (68). The Compromise of 1850 forced northerners to return all found fugitive slaves back to
the south (TC1850). During an interview with David Bianculli, Whitehead mentions that the default
view of slavery consists of strict slave catcher s and master s interpretations, rather than the historical
aspects of slavery (8 Aug. 2016). This observation allows him to focus on a fictional storyline that
derives nonfictional events in history. In, The Underground Railroad, Whitehead emphasizes an
alternate view of the American history pertaining to the institution of slavery. Throughout every
elementary History class, educators explain the colonization of America in a crudely oversimplified,
unrealistic way. Teachers often emphasize that the English simply overtook claimed land, rather than
stating the whites came to this land for a fresh start and to escape the tyranny of their masters, just as
the freeman had fled theirs. But the ideals [that] they held up for themselves, they denied for

to teach his son how to act, because if he doesn t, Jem may be susceptible to the racist ways of
Maycomb. Robinson is one of the innocent mockingbirds referred to by Atticus in the novel. He does
not do anything of ill manner, yet he is persecuted by Maycomb, and through disguising Robinson as a
mockingbird, Lee s able to convey Maycomb as racist. The racism motif in Maycomb is furthered
through the Ewell family. The Ewells, being uneducated and at the bottom of the social hierarchy
cannot find a clear distinction between their social class and the black s, so they therefore turn to
racism and insulting the black community to feel superior. Racial prejudice has been prevalent as a

Cosmological Argument From Motion
To begin, we start with an a posteriori argument, or an argument from experience. Arguments from
experiences of the world to the existence of God are called cosmological arguments. This particular
argument is the argument from motion. Argument from Motion: P1. Some things are moved. P2. If
something is moved to being F, then it is potentially but not actually F. P3. If something moves a thing
to be F, then it (the mover) is in a state of actuality relevant to F. C1. If something were to move itself
to be F (e.g., be both moved and its own mover), then it would be both potentially but not actually F
and also in a state of actuality relevant to F (conjunction, modus ponens, P1 3). P4. But it is not
possible for something to be both potentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond to one
preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a seeming contradiction between
Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first law of motion, and the Aristotelian definition of
motion on which the argument above rests. The problem may be resolved in two ways. Firstly, to
assert that there is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different definitions of the word
motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion (motion or change in terms
of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with change of every sort (quality, quantity,
substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is no formal contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher
Edward Feser says: Suppose that motion is being used in the two principles in the same sense. Even
given this assumption, there is no formal contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us that a
body will in fact continue its uniform rectilinear motion if it is moving at all, as long as external forces
do not prevent this. It does not tell us why it will do so. In particular, it does not tell us one way or the
other whether there is a mover of some sort which ensures that an object obeys the First Law, and
which is in that sense responsible for its

There are many reasons that can, in the long run affect us as a society. Why should we care about other people and the gender that they choose to be? When we are at war and fighting for our country would that really matter ! These very reasons and many more are what steer the LGBT community away from the military. Research by Teitelbaum and Ross (2003) indicated that, the bone remodeling process regulates the gain and loss of bone mineral density in the human skeleton and directly influenced bone strength and vice versa. In bone remodelling process, resorption of extra cellular matrices by osteoclasts is followed by osteoblastic invasion of the cavity, and subsequent secretion of extra cellular matrix that is then mineralized (Ducy et al., 2000). These two processes, which together are called bone remodeling, occur continuously (Riggs et al., 2002). • 5. Persuasive Essay On The Flag Flags are used by countries for a few reasons beyond just having something to fly in the air. A country will spend many hours and a lot of money on their flag design because that is their way of portraying themselves to the rest of the world. Many Americans own and display them outside their homes, offices, and schools. The flag was there during the Revolutionary War days and remained there after the attacks of 9/11. Flags can be unifying to a country, and many times are. The flag makes all American citizens feel like part of a team. Our American flag is a symbol of pride and freedom for all. The Star Spangled Banner, the national anthem, proclaims, And the rocket s red glare / the bombs bursting in air / gave proof through the night / that our flag was still there. Our flag flying through the smoke of warfare gave hope to all Americans, and ever since the flag has been a symbol of that hope and unity. The flag started as a banner to celebrate America s freedom and now stands as an icon of world diplomacy. (Online Stores, page 1). As said before, our flag is greatly tied to freedom. Freedom is a condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act, and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity, original thought, increased productivity, and an overall high quality of life. The idea of freedom is complex; it must be redefined and defended anew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is possible due to gene expression which is the process of the genetic code, DNA, being translated into proteins which a cell can then utilise for specific functions whether it be a unicellular or multicellular organism. Through this process there are many steps taken from the raw genetic code to the finished protein, the cell ensuring each step progresses without mistake and that the resulting protein has been ... For instance, DNA in eukaryotic organisms binds tightly to histones, a type of protein, and this forms chromatin. Depending on how decondensed the chromatin is can affect how easily the gene can be transcribed (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. 2017.). Processes such as these are needed throughout all branches of life, and once a gene is no longer being repressed it can then be transcribed. Transcription is the copying of a strand of DNA, called the template strand, to form single stranded messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA). Figure 2 Transcription (Gary E. • 9. Depression Is A Mood Disorder Depression is a mood disorder that affects every one out of five adolescents by the time they become adults (Dryden Edwards 1). It does not seem unlikely that people are more prone to developing depression in their teen years due to the various physical, emotional, psychological and social changes that occur during this point of one s life. The human body experiences different developmental changes while going through puberty, causing a teen to have fluctuating moods. Puberty, along with juggling school, work, sports, clubs, and spending time with family and friends causes one to feel overwhelmed and have excessive stress. Adolescents fill up their schedules with these activities, scrabbling to find room to get a decent amount of sleep, exercise, and eat healthy. There is no time left for the teen to relax and have some alone time to recoup, which helps to relieve all the stress. So, the teen feels overwhelmed and unable to handle all the different obstacles being thrown in their path all at once. Often, it may lead the teen to try to avoid their responsibilities and problems, throwing up one of the first warning signs of depression. Every human being has feelings and reactions caused by daily life events, but it is a problem when mood begins to interfere with functioning and completing even the simplest of tasks. When teens moods disrupt their ability to function on a day to day basis, it may indicate a serious emotional or mental disorder that needs attention ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction/ Background Walls are usually built by humans to achieve the purpose of security and privacy. But, what if a wall was built to limit the movement of hundreds of thousands of people separating them from their lands and relatives and preventing them from practicing their fundamental daily rights? This is the case in Palestine; where Israel has constructed a physical wall that isolates Palestinians in the West Bank and significantly affects their daily life. The Apartheid Wall as named by the Palestinians, or the Security Fence as named by Israelis is a 709 Kilometer barrier that extends through the Palestinian West Bank separating it from Israel (B Tselem, 2011). The Wall is a multi layered fence system consisting of razors, stones, concrete, barbered wires along with checkpoints and watchtowers. • 13. The Aids Epidemic Of Haiti Essay When a fatal disease becomes known to a society but lacks explanation our instinct as humans is to jump to conclusions, whether they are logical or not. We bargain with our faith, we search for any evidence to support our conjectures, we deny the truth of the disease, and we place blame on each other. All of these desperate acts of justification are driven by fear fear of the unknown. The combination of fear and ignorance that pushes people to make conclusions is readily notable in the AIDS epidemic of Haiti. Haitians reacted to AIDS in a similar manner as other cultures, but there are also differences that are specific to their community. Like many cultures, Haitians reasoned the occurrence of AIDS with explanations beyond the scope of medicine, with diseases that were known to them, or were instead in complete denial. The uniqueness of the occurrence of AIDS in Haiti was that there was no direct cause that could be addressed. Thus, while under significant scrutiny as the origin of AIDS, Haitians reacted to the epidemic by blaming the existence of AIDS on poor socioeconomic status, on sorcery, and on other people or countries. As part of their reaction to AIDS, Haitians had a propensity to attribute the existence of AIDS to poor populations. AIDS is indeed more prevalent among the lower socioeconomic class in Haiti, but the perception as to why this pattern occurred went beyond the simple interpretation that AIDS was a disease of the poor. These all seem like regular everyday things that are just normal. But in the past things like these were so beyond the norm that they would seem alien and impossible. The first matter that I pointed out, our mode of transportation, differs from person to person. There are those that have decided to either not use any fossil fuel burning vehicular modes of transportation, such as walking and riding bikes; while others have decided to greatly decrease their ecological footprint by using various forms of carpooling, whether it being literal carpooling with friends or coworkers, or taking modes of mass transportation such as buses and subways or underground railways. • 18. The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles, conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience. As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order. Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009, 169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Analysis Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh The poem The Epic of Gilgamesh is considered to be the first documented work of literature, which originated in Uruk, a city state located along the channel of the Euphrates River in Sumer. The Sumerians were the first civilization in Mesopotamia to devise a system of written language, which consisted of wedge shaped characters that were inscribed in clay tablets. This system of writing is known as cuneiform, and it was used to record The Epic of Gilgamesh. Throughout this epic poem, Gilgamesh, the king and ruler of Uruk, encounters a number of religious figures that sheds light upon the history and culture of the Mesopotamians. It is apparent from the start of the poem, that the people of Uruk centered their entire lifestyle around the many deities of the polytheistic Sumerian religion. Gilgamesh himself was the son of the goddess Ninsun and king Lugulbanda, and was considered to be one third human, and two thirds god. Gilgamesh also encounters Utnapanishtim, who was gifted with immortality from the gods after serving as a heroic savior during a great flood, in which the biblical story of Noah s Ark alludes to. Furthermore, The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the most significant literary works in history; it has influenced and shaped the course of western literature, in molding the first archetypes of an epic hero, and in its use of literary devices. Word count: 3,132 John Goulder! 1 Introduction: Mental Health as Disparate Social Object Antipsychiatry was as much a cultural phenomenon as an academic or institutional one. Whilst the work of Laing (1960) and Szasz (1960) can be rooted in the Fruedo Marxist methodological individualism of critical theory (Rogers Pilgrim, 2010: 14), or even a broader constructionist critique of medical truth, it just as easily lends itself to a more limited historicist Libertarian reading: mental illness as socio political deviance within an encroaching state (Sumner, 1994). Within this interface must be located the panoply of iconographic representation (Shorter, 1997: 273) within wider mass culture: Sumner cites the example of Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest as salacious and sensational as it may be which became, for a generation, a precipitation of populist anti sentiment towards psychiatric institutions and their operative physicians. It is clear then that the dialectic of mind and its healer transcends theoretical partitions, spans academic disciplines, and crosses the great divide to take up its place within the popular consciousness. • 23. Stressors Definition Stressors have been an important aspect of our class journals each week through the semester. Which leads to the question of where do these stressors come from and why? Stressors are a source of strain that has both an objective and subjective view. Objectively, in a work setting it is based on how much you put into the work and the number of hours you are completing. Whereas subjectively, involves more of the perception of the work and how the work is being done. Strain is the response to these stressors, which include behavioral, physical and psychological aspects. Behavioral strain has an impact on a person s ability to perform in the work place and how their feelings have an impact on the quality of the performance. A physical response is when something is concretely happening to you and you can feel the strain and pressure from the outcome. • 24. Through The Misty Panes And Thick Green Sea By Wilfred Owen Owen continues writing, Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, / As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. / In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, / He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning (13 16). These lines from Owen s poem emphasized the dreadful atrocity of WWI: Chemical Warfare. The word pane means A framed sheet of glass in a window or door. Owen used the word pane to describe the two clear glass lenses of the gas mask. The description by Owen of green colored gas figuratively provides the reader an illusion of being underwater; however, chlorine gas floating in the air is literally green in color (CDC). Chlorine gas kills its victims by reacting with water in the lungs to form hydrochloric acid. This strong acid deteriorates the lining of the lungs and causes its victims to drown while standing on dry land (Fitzgerald 613). Owen knew this particular soldier was doomed because of the lethality of inhaling poisonous chlorine gas. Nonetheless, government propagandists refused to reveal the horrifying reality of inhumane deaths caused by chemical warfare. If this truth were disclosed, people would realize that soldiers were expendable objects with no guarantees of a dignified death. Owen states, If in some smothering dreams you too could pace / Behind the wagon that we flung him in, /... (17 18). These lines described the carnage after a chemical attack. At just one year old Florence moved to England because her father owned Lea Hurst, a country house, in Derbyshire and was extremely wealthy. When Florence was five years old, her mother Fanny convinced her husband to move to Emely Park where the Nightingales would have more entertainment. Although this made Fanny happy, Florence was miserable with the consistent guests and chatter. She preferred to be alone with her thoughts. Growing up she was only taught the things a good wife and mother would need to know, including; music, dance, needlework and art lessons. In the 1800s women weren t expected to receive an education based on the core subjects, they learned things that would help them become the best care taker they could be. Since Florence was considered upper class, it was highly unlikely for her to ever have a job. But as Florence grew older she became very neat and organized. She enjoyed numbers and placing data into tables. At the age of eight she taught herself French and always did the right thing because she believed that s what god wanted. Once Florence turned twelve her father, William Nightingale insisted on her and Parthenope, her older sister, to be well educated. • 27. Negative Impacts Of Deforestation Impacts of Deforestation Deforestation is the clearing of wide areas of forests for the purpose of using the land or the resources in the area. Two highly demanding products that are causing deforestation around the world are palm oil and cocoa. However, in the process of growing these products trees are removed from the area in order to be converted into palm and cocoa plantations. As a result, many animal habitats are ruined, and an abundance of trees are cut releasing carbon dioxide into the air contributing to climate change. Increased demand for products containing ingredients such as palm oil and cocoa are just two of the reasons the rate of deforestation is escalating resulting in the exploitation of animal habitats and worsening the effects of climate change. Many small countries main income is through exporting agricultural products. Therefore, as demand increases countries will do whatever they need to do to meet the demand. Often, corners are cut, and there are many negative consequences. Palm oil is an ingredient that is found in many consumer products that are on the market. Companies should be held responsible for where the ingredients of their products come from and should be held accountable to source products such as palm oil in a sustainable way which does not contribute to deforestation (Larsson). Many areas are currently cutting down trees in order to convert the land into palm oil plantations. One example would be in the Borneo rainforest. Naomi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The never ending search for strategies to attain better results lead policy makers in the UK to continue the promotion of setting pupils by ability, despite research suggesting no consistent evidence that structured ability grouping will produce positive effects on attainment on any particular group of pupils (Hallam Ireson, 2005). Research also suggests that teachers tend to feel the pressure of government guidance s and school s ethos and policies as an important force in determining their beliefs (Hallam Ireson, 2003), but their attitudes towards teaching seem to be mostly influenced by their experience in their subjects with their classes (Hallam Ireson, 2003; Hallam Ireson, 2005; Kutnick, Blatchford, Clark, MacIntyre, Baines, 2005). The government guidance acknowledges that setting doesn t guarantee full homogeneity within the groups and therefore differentiation is still necessary in lessons, as they need to be tailored specifically to their profile and allow the implementation of strategies that able pupils to be stretched in their different capacities (DfES, 2006). Nevertheless, intelligent use of group setting would allow teachers to plan with more confidence, allocate resources like teaching assistants to more demanding groups (DfES, 2006), and differentiate their approach to different groups. The main argument in favor of setting pupils by ability tends to be that more able pupils need some form of separate grouping and an environment where they can freely be stretched to the maximum of their potential without feeling inhibited by their peers (Hallam Ireson, 2003; Hallam Ireson, 2005; Hallam, Rogers, Ireson, 2008). Since the majority of us do not have the luxury of being born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam Carolla begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He explains that it is easier and more useful to understand how to sell something and continue selling it again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of money. Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of high school and the pain he felt from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using pain as a motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or even the third. However, this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to get in the habit of doing things well and not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to take advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the time to understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the opportunity does come. In ... Between the two buildings, one can not help but look at the similarities as well as the differences between the two. The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper that was built during one of the most severe economic downturns in this country s history. The building was finished in the year 1930 and is located in New York City. The Chrysler Building was constructed using stainless steel over an exposed building surface which was a first for its time (History of Walter P. Chrysler and the Chrysler Building, n.d.). The next important thing to think about when understanding the Chrysler Building is to figure out what it was designed for. Although the building was not owned by Chrysler it was used for the corporation s offices which used the building until the mid 1950 s (Chrysler Building, n.d). • 40. Rhetorical Analysis Of Professionss For Women By Virginia... Virginia Woolf is a famous novelist, critic, and essayist. She is most known for her novels such as: Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf gave on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her message about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies. These strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and the inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences. Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed vastly to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a rhetorical question that states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what professional experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant modernists of her century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving this speech. This helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a peer than a superior figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made herself more trustworthy and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf makes yet another understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one. Considering that Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but simple. Yet by making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her personality and what she thinks of herself. Through this statement, Woolf has proved her humility and that she views herself as just another human being. The first understatement allowed her to be more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Underground Railroad Analysis Unraveling History within The Underground Railroad While Colson Whiteheads, The Underground Railroad (2016) memorializes slavery, it also broadens our otherwise unrealistic views of American history. The novel follows a young slave girl, Cora, on her historic venture through delusional America on the Underground Railroad, shortly after the congress passed the Compromise of 1850 (285). As Cora travels north, she discovers that every state individually expresses different attributes of slavery (68). The Compromise of 1850 forced northerners to return all found fugitive slaves back to the south (TC1850). During an interview with David Bianculli, Whitehead mentions that the default view of slavery consists of strict slave catcher s and master s interpretations, rather than the historical aspects of slavery (8 Aug. 2016). This observation allows him to focus on a fictional storyline that derives nonfictional events in history. In, The Underground Railroad, Whitehead emphasizes an alternate view of the American history pertaining to the institution of slavery. Throughout every elementary History class, educators explain the colonization of America in a crudely oversimplified, unrealistic way. Teachers often emphasize that the English simply overtook claimed land, rather than stating the whites came to this land for a fresh start and to escape the tyranny of their masters, just as the freeman had fled theirs. I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond to one preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a seeming contradiction between Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first law of motion, and the Aristotelian definition of motion on which the argument above rests. The problem may be resolved in two ways. Firstly, to assert that there is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different definitions of the word motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion (motion or change in terms of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with change of every sort (quality, quantity, substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is no formal contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher Edward Feser says: Suppose that motion is being used in the two principles in the same sense. Even given this assumption, there is no formal contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us that a body will in fact continue its uniform rectilinear motion if it is moving at all, as long as external forces do not prevent this. It does not tell us why it will do so. In particular, it does not tell us one way or the other whether there is a mover of some sort which ensures that an object obeys the First Law, and which is in that sense responsible for its ...
