Elements Of A Business Plan
elements of a business plan and agree that regardless of the size or stage of development, companies
use a business plan to improve their internal operations as well as to describe or market the business to
outside investors (Becherer, R. C., Helms, M. M. 2009. p.82). As someone wanting to open up a
business this can be the key element as to who will be willing to invest in my business one day. In
order to have a successful business opening and get the funds needed to ensure a business can operate
on daily one has to be able to show how and why they need money. A business starts off as just an idea
that one has, but once one can put their idea into action they can potentially turn it into a well thought
out business plan.

Book Review of Liberty and Power Essay
Harry L. Watson, Liberty and Power;
The Politics of Jacksonian America
Hill and Wang, N.Y.
Review written by Richard Foust Book Review Harry L. Watson s book, Liberty and Power, The
Politics of Jacksonian America , takes an analytical look at America and her politics during the Age of
Jackson. Watson uses the economy and the ideological mindset of the people, to support a powerful
argument about the beginning of American political parties and their importance in defining the
political direction of the country. Watson argues that economic inequalities caused by the Market
Revolution and a threat to American liberty caused Americans to organize politically in support of a ...

The subsistence farmer, unable to compete, saw the Market Revolution as a threat to his liberty and
acted on this threat. Watson surmises that with this threat, politically active citizens were ripe for a
political party system that would protect their independence and liberty. Enter Andrew Jackson, who
appealed to those voters who felt threatened by the changing economic picture. Jackson and his
supporters believed that the Republican/Whig political party represented an elitist, aristocratic
government that would put the ever expanding economy and their own profit above the liberty and
good of the majority and it was the good of the majority that Jackson would rely on with great
success. He believed that the preservation of the Republic depended on the majority and the majority
was represented by independent farmers, who were profiting the least from the Market Revolution.
Believing that any government based on aristocracy could become corrupt, he felt that that the best
way was to treat all of the citizens alike and turn the rule of the country over to the majority. This
majority, with the fiery General Andrew Jackson as their leader, would create the Democratic Party.
Watson s focus on political parties, chapter 6, is an important part of this book. Not only does it
support his argument, but it also gives the reader

A Hanging and A Tell-Tale Heart
Within a short story, there is usually an obstacle that the main character has to persevere through.
Between the characters of the guard from George Orwell s A Hanging and the servant from Edgar
Allen Poe s A Tell Tale Heart , they both experience the act of taking another person s life. The guard
from A Hanging works at a prison in Burma where felons await execution. His job is to lead the
convicted men to their doom and makes sure everything goes routinely and swift. While the servant
from A Tell Tale Heart is a psychopathic man who lets his obsession over his boss s glasseye lead him
to plot and carry out his death. Throughout both stories, the protagonists reach a moment when they
need to take part in the organized killings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As shown, the guard finds it hard to accept the justifications for killing. He sees life as something
precious and feels that even if the option to end someone s life is there, using it would be inhumane.
On the other hand, in the story of The Tell Tale Heart it is clearly shows that the servant has no regard
for life. He states that whenever [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold (Poe 1). This very gradually
(Poe 1) led him to the point where he made up [his] mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid
[himself] of the eye forever (Poe 1). This alone displays that the servant considers life as something
that is simply disposable because he sees one flaw in the old man. He feels that the only way to be
able to be satisfied is to get rid of what is bothering him. When it comes to both of these characters,
their views on apply death are completely different. The guard sees that there is something wrong with
ending the life ofsomeone who is completely healthy, while the servant feels that life is something that
could be cut short and ended without a second though. Finally, both protagonists differ in the way they
react to the deaths. For the prison guard as soon as the killing took place an enormous relief had come
upon [them] now that the job was done (Orwell 34 35). The killing causes such a burden on him and
the rest of the staff because it was their duty as guards, they never have any say as to if they could
spare the prisoner.

UBI To Combat Economic Inequality
The dominant in group of men have subjected women to a minority out group. This separation has
caused unequal treatment, double standards, and stereotypes, which all help keep women in a state of
economic inequality. In order for women to experience equality, men most lose some of their power
and share it with women. Although, many men would love women to have more economic freedom,
they do not want it to come at the cost of their power. Therefore, inter group conflict occurs. Another
in group and intergroup dynamic, which is taking place, is between the rich and the poor. A Pew
Research Center survey of 2,048 adults finds that about two thirds of the public (66%) believes there

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Research Paper
The life of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is marked by his remarkable refusal to abandon that which he
loved and believed in, even under the iron grip of oppression. Born in 1918, the Russian spent the
majority of his early life in the city of Rostov on Don where he lived with his widowed mother. As a
young man, Aleksandr developed a passion for writing, and began looking for places to print his
works when he was only a teenager. This proved to be more than just a vaporous fantasy of his
adolescence; Solzhenitsyn s strong desire to write motivated and inspired him throughout his entire
life. In 1941, Solzhenitsyn was drafted to fight in World War II, where he was utilized for his
mathematical aptitude in the artillery department. He amazingly survived three years of working and
fighting on the front lines; yet in the year of 1945, Solzhenitsyn wrote a series of letters that would
change the course of his entire life. These letters were addressed to one of his old friends from the
local university that they both attended in Rostov. In these writings, the 27 year old soldier used code
names to express his discontent with Joseph Stalin s management of the war. The Russian authorities
eventually discovered these conversations, and arrested Solzhenitsyn for his disrespectful comments.

Cloud Computing, Virtualization And Virtual Machine
As for the requirement of the course, I would like to request for the permission to write the course
report on Cloud computing, virtualization and virtual machine . The report will intend to provide
readers the basic knowledge of how the cloud service work, what virtualization is and how various
institution is using the technology. I have done the basic research for the topic and have come to the
conclusion that I will be able to write an acceptable report on the topic. My experience at work has
also provided me with practical experience related to the topic.
Cloud and Virtualization
Cloud computing and virtualization allows versatility regarding accessibility of service from remote
location.
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is the idea where application runs on a remote server that is provided as a
commercial service by a company rather than an institution or individual s local machine. Cloud
computing has made possible to provided Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and
Infrastructure as a Service (Beaty, 2013,p. 88 93)
Virtualization
Virtualization allows one or more physical servers to be connected and configured in a way that it
presents itself as a single physical machine with large resource. The user can then divide the resource
based on the need of the application and service. The most recent use of this service today in
enterprise and institution is creating virtual machine for virtual desktops and virtual servers.
Virtualization also reduces the need to

The Theme Of David Lurie s Disgrace
Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man s desire to understand. (Armstrong). This
famous quote by Neil Armstrong allows us to know what Melanie Issacs story is about. She strikes as
a mysterious, soft spoken woman with a mind that can tear a man apart. David Lurie, Melanie s
professor falls for her mystery and in fact, becomes borderline obsessed with his desire for her. In the
book Disgrace, Melanie s complex character not only drives the overall theme of disgrace forward, but
exemplifies how feelings of shame can be hidden and indirectly affect others. Melanie Issacs is a
blooming petite, soft spoken, and beautiful free spirited woman under David Lurie s tutelage at Cape
Technical University. During the novel, she is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
J.M Coetzee then describes his initial thoughts, What game is she playing? He should be wary, no
doubt about that. But he should have been wary from the start which shows that this is now more than
just a one time thing, she has come to his house asking for comfort, but even David is unsure. After
multiple attempts to figure out what it is that is bothering her, she consistently refuses and tells him
she will explain at a later time. This again shows her secretive side to David that she may be hiding
something, but his desire for her continues to be stronger than any worry he may have. Melanie s
feelings of shame and disgrace help to shape the direction of Disgrace, leading up to David feeling
disgrace because of his desire for her.
Throughout the novel Disgrace, Melanie Issacs and David Lurie have many encounters that provide
extensive detail on the feelings and events that occurred amongst themselves. David first notices
Melanie on his trip home through the university gardens and proceeds to invite her to his home for
wine and cheese. He then continues to pursue Melanie by acquiring her address and phone number
from the University s records. Early on in the novel it appears apparent how fascinated David becomes
of his young student in just the few encounters they have. Melanie remains passive and falls for his
sweet talk to become sexually engaged with him. During the first

Inductive reasoning are the beliefs and ideas that are formed from common concepts or experiences
such as dialing a number twice and no one picks up then you can reason that no one is home.
Fixation is solving problems the same way with no change to the strategies or viewpoints used. For
example, failing a quiz multiple times and using the same strategy of studying every once in while
because of the unchanging belief that you already know what you need to know.
Representative Heuristic is judging based off an individuals s looks and associating them with a

Success Drivers Behind Aravind Essay
William Duran
Aravind Case Study Introduction In a country plagued by curable and needless blindness, 58 year old
surgeon Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy recognized upon retirement that his 100,000 sight restoring
surgeries were not enough of an impact to fight blindness in India and cure the 12 million people
affected by it. With a big dream, but no money, no business plan, and no safety net, he embarked on a
journey to start an organization with a single purpose in mind: to give sight for all. Starting with a
small 11 bed clinic, he went on to create the Aravind Eye Care System, today s largest and most
productive blindness prevention organization on the planet, which sees more than 2.5 million patients

patients based on how much they could afford to pay for their services. The creation of differentiated
services was based only on the accommodations associated with the surgery, and the type of less

Analyse The Streingths and Weaknesses Of The Boston...
In this essay I will look at the strengths and weaknesses of using the Boston Matrix to help make
decisions in business. I will first briefly explain the Boston Matrix and then analyse its effectiveness
as an aid to making a marketing strategy.
Like Ansoff s matrix, the Boston Matrix is a well known tool for marketing managers. It was
developed by the large US consulting group and is a way that a business can compare all of its
products. The two aspects it looks at are market share (relative to that of competitors) and market
growth. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars
(products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a
market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions
like this...
Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high
profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must be
taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high market
share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a very
specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a companies
resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of money must be spent
on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it wants. The good thing about this
is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future become a cash cow and the companies
will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be able to support new products. Do you see the
cycle that the products follow?, this all links very closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a
company should not just assume that a product will follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a
product will follow this cycle and a marketing department would be stupid to assume that a product
will. This is another problem with using the Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with
all other aspects of marketing), that markets just aren t that predictable.

The Importance Of Freedom In Persepolis
Evident in the abundant arguments regarding freedom and to the extent of which these freedoms are
protected by legislation, Americans typically believe that their fellow citizens can be trusted with
almost unlimited freedom. Americans exercise many privileges such as speaking freely and having
access to news media (whether true or fictitious) that we assume are our basic human rights. We
believe that the more freedom we have the better and that we can control ourselves rather than relying
on external pressures on freedom However, these are not given to all people and were in fact
punishable offenses for Marjane Satrapi in her childhood and young adulthood as a woman in Iran as
revealed in Persepolis. While at first she despises the constraints on her freedoms put in place by the
government and her family, after struggling on her own with virtually unlimited freedom she goes
back to the more restrictive environment in Iran. Satrapi argues that while we should not allow
extreme government control of freedom, so restraints made by parents and other family members is
crucial in the development and bettering of a person s upbringing. With too strong of governement
restriction of freedom, one has no outlet of self expression or individuality and with too much freedom
Satrapi is unable to create a safe environment for herself and remains emotionally unstable and she
therefore argues that an environment with some restrictions is best. Americans tend to advocate for

A Tale of Two Cities, A Doll s House, Brave New World
J.M. Barrie once wrote, You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.
Throughout this semester, the most prevalent subject that has continuously risen from conversation is
that of sacrifice. Through the three books read in class, A Tale of Two Cities, A Doll s House, and
Brave New World, one can learn that sacrifice is not a selfless thing, but a necessary part of life when
attaining something he or she feels is of greater value. In A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles
Dickens, Sydney Carton is introduced as a lethargic alcoholic that has little interest in living. As the
story progresses, however, Dickens shows Sydney s interest in another character named Lucie. Later,
Sydney even announces his love to her before she weds another man, Charles Darnay, yet he still
continues to speak of the worthlessness of his life as the story continues. It becomes very obvious to
the reader that Lucie is the focal point of Sydney s life, and that he lives primarily in the light of her
happiness. Towards the end of the novel, Darnay is in prison and soon facing the guillotine. Sydney,
who looks stunningly similar to Darnay, takes his place and dies to ensure Lucie s happiness with
Darnay in their future. From the time he announced his love to Lucie until his death, Sydney showed
his passionate interest and care for Lucie while showing apathy for his own life. It is clear that Sydney
valued Lucie and her happiness more than his own life. Therefore, by

The Story Of The Gadarene Demoniacs
Introduction
The story of the Gadarene demoniacs in Matthew 8:28 9:1 begins with the conclusion of another
miracle. After calming a storm out at sea, Jesus disembarks in Gadara. He encounters two possessed
men living in the tombs who are making it difficult for people to pass by. The men recognize Jesus as
the Son of God and call out to him defensively. Before Jesus even acknowledges them, the demons
ask to be sent to a heard of swine, if they are to be cast out. Jesus simply says Go! and the demons go
into the pigs, which immediately rush down a bank into the sea and drown. The pig herders tell the
town what they saw and the townspeople beg Jesus to leave.

This passage is the fifth in a set of six miracle pericopes. Starting at the beginning of chapter eight,
Jesus heals a leper, heals a dying servant, heals Peter s mother in law and many others, calms a storm,
casts out the demons from the Gadarenes, and heals a paralytic. The stories are divided in two sets of
three, separated by a strange interlude about the followers of Jesus. The second set of miracles
emphasizes strongly the response to Jesus work in each pericope. The calming of the storm prompted
astonishment and confusion. The casting out of the demons provoked rejection by the townspeople.
Finally, the healing of the paralytic inspired awe and worship in crowds that observed the miracle. He
seems to be traveling alone to Gadara, in contrast to travelling with crowds in the surrounding
pericopes.

Insider Trading And Stock Market
Furthermore, many economists believe that insider trading leads to instability in the market.
Economists Julan Du and Shang Jin Wei suggest that when the market is at higher volatility, insider
trading has mainly a part to play in this instability of the market. However, these two economists also
believe that many other factors play into the market efficiency and insider trading. Some of these
factors include: financial and economic policies, and the maturity of the stock market at the current
time that insider trading occurs. There are many people who believe that insider trading effects market
efficiency in a negative manner. However, there are plenty of studies that have been conducted that

When a company issues new shares to an investor, the capitals from these shares are spread to that
company. However, the problem that is seen is: product market flaws tend to create a monopoly,
instead of making the market even with investors. According to Joel Peress when trades are initiated
by insiders, and the information content of stock prices is higher for firms with more market power
(pg.34). This is one of the main reasons that insider trading is in fact illegal in the United States of
America. When insider trading occurs, it only benefits bigger companies, thus creating very limited
opportunities for smaller companies to expand. There was a study done by Stephanie Roddenberry Dr.
Frank Bacon: a student and a professor in accounting at Longwood University. They took a look at
weather insiders buy low and sell high. They studied that when insiders and investors acted on non
public information, earned above normal returns, than those investors who were not able to earn above
the normal risk of acting on the public announcement. In conclusion, there are many opinions on
insider trading affecting the market efficiency, but there has been determined that when the there is

For corporate houses we could only cite that it is just like as any other corporate deal with the only
differentiation that it produces films which is considered under the head of creative segment
(essentially organised corporate structure of producing in creative industries which is a new concept
for Indian film industry) (Subramaniam, A, 2003) So when Industry status was granted in 2000,
Corporate started getting attracted towards the films industry realising the huge potential that was
there to be exploited. When the corporate started entering to film industry with huge investment power
they started incorporating studio culture of Hollywood by following vertical integration. Leaving
behind the prevailing system of horizontal integration to the independent producers. The studio model

A Number Of Public Health And Safety Concerns Arise From...
A number of public health and safety concerns arise from injection drug use, including: HIV
transmission (Mathers et al., 2008), hepatitis C virus (HCV) transmission (Alter, 1997; Lake and
Kennedy, 2016), overdose (Lake and Kennedy, 2016; Sherman et al., 2007), abscesses and infections
(Binswanger et al., 2000; Salmon et al., 2009), and improperly discarded syringes (Buchanan et al.,
2003). Supervised injection facilities (SIFs) also called drug consumption rooms (DCRs), safe
injection sites (SISs), and medically supervised injection centers (MSICs) have attempted to address
these concerns by providing legally sanctioned, safer environments for people to inject pre obtained
drugs under medical supervision (Broadhead et al., 2002). To date, more than 90 SIFs have been
opened in 8 countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain,
and Switzerland) (Hedrich et al., 2010). Although there are different SIF models, these facilities
typically aim to provide clean injection equipment, education for safer injecting, medical response in
the event of an overdose, and treatment referrals (Broadhead et al., 2002). Many facilities offer a
comprehensive array of health and social services, including counseling, medical care, and legal
assistance (Kimber et al., 2005; Small et al., 2009). Over the last decade, the public health impacts of
SIFs have been researched extensively. SIFs have been associated with reductions in a number of

Health Promotion Vs Health Education Essay
Health promotion and health education are both very good fields that provide awareness to individuals
on health and wellness, subjects and issues. They both have very similar objectives and goals towards
creating a healthier lifestyle and they strive to help improve the health and well being of individuals.
Even though these fields of interest maybe similar in ways they are actually very different and should
be classified as so. Health promotion is a field that is more about advocating for a better quality of life
by promoting and campaigning awareness, while health education is a field of study that is more
focused about teaching different methods and theories to help increase the knowledge in individuals.
These two fields are very good for our society because they are providing proper information on
different health related subjects that are very important to one s well being. They also have the same
goal of helping individuals to strive to be healthy. Both areas of study have individuals physical and
mental well being as their best interests at heart. These focused fields are assets to our community

2.2 Describe with examples the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children
and young people s development When looking at children and young people s development it is
important to recognise and respond to concerns to ensure that the child or young person receives the
help and assistance needed. The sooner any issues or concerns are raised the sooner the child or young
person can be monitored and help or assistance given. The following things would cause concern
about a child or young persons development. If the concern was ignored or the problem was left
untreated things could get worse and a delay in help or any treatment needed could mean the outcome
isn t as good as if the treatment was started earlier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physically as the child isn t playing at playtime they might not be as physically active as they
previously were. Responding to any concern has to be done in a professional manner meaning that you
don t talk to the parents or carer of the child without first following procedures. You would have to
have an account and a note of exactly what was seen or heard or anything witnessed. You would need
to state why it was a concern to you and the date and time this occurred. You would need to have kept
a log and it must be true and accurate. You would approach the class teacher with your concern. If the
teacher disregards it you would still need to report it as you have a responsibility to that child or young
person. You would report it to the relevant person above the teacher until the concern has been
reported correctly. Once reported the relevant person can help the child appropriately to solve the
issue correctly hopefully getting the child back on course. If you fail to take note and report any
concerns of child development the child or young person s development could be affected in various
areas. Example 2 You may start to become concerned about a child or young person if they start to act
out of character or their behaviour changes. You have a child who in class usually participates well
and is happy, very outgoing and confident but one day they come into class looking sad and is very
quiet.

Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture
Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional
Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture
are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer
way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool
or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional
agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and
what advantages it has.
A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also
it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when
the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how
traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different
species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is
high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these
farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family
generations.
Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops.
Other advantages that it

According to beliefs of the Baha i faith, the most one can know about God is that God exists, so when
we try to describe God, such qualities are just analogies that are the best the human mind can
understand of God. Since the Baha i faith recognizes that different religions have different names for
the same one God, the Baha i faith accepts all these faith traditions as valid. Abdu l Bahá put it like
this: The differences among the religions of the world are due to the varying types of minds
(Introduction to Bahá í Beliefs and God). A Baha i believes that views of God might vary slightly
across religions because the views are formed from the cultures and different time periods.
Nonetheless, no idea of God by humans encapsulates the true qualities of God. God Himself if

Baha i faith also believe that God cannot become incarnate in a human being, this is one difference
compared to other monotheistic traditions. Lastly, God is not believed to have a gender, even though

Only the dead have seen the end of war unknown. In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, he tells

through evil, disbelief, embarrassment, and hidden meanings in Mary Anne s trip to Vietnam that we
know what a true war story is. The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is a perfect example of a true war

The setting in The Yellow Wallpaper helps illustrate the theme of solitary confinement and exclusion

significant feature of the setting is the river, clear and smoothly fast in the early morning . It
symbolizes spiritual renewal for Nick, his escape from suffering and the troubled world. Another
important part of the setting are grasshoppers which have turned black, and thus have the same colour

AFL Is Crucial To Student Learning
AFL is crucial to student learning and teacher achievement due to its many benefits. When
assessments are planned and prepared with a purpose it is known to enhance learning and motivate

teaching and learning processes to the teachers and students, helping students to become more
responsible towards their own learning and developing self reflective skills in students are just a few
benefits (Center for Teaching, 2014). Additionally AFL also helps teachers in addressing student errors

Therefore teachers knowledge, skills and competencies in classroom assessment practices are very
important (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). As teachers play a major role in student achievements and
preparing them for future, it is essential for them to understand how to assess and evaluate students
learning outcomes (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). For this reason, Reynolds, Livingston, Willson, (2009);
McMillan, (2008); Nitko, (2001) maintain the common argument that because AFL plays a vital role
in teaching and learning related activities teachers should master basic assessment competencies.
Without this ability the type of assessment will be useless for the future learning of the students. For
example, most common type of assessment provided in the classrooms are pen and paper tests taken at
the end of a unit, the result from this is never used to improved student learning as teachers perceive
the topic as completed and done with. Vandeyar and Killen (2003) argued that regardless of
educational setting, high quality assessment practices should satisfy essential principles such as
validity, reliability, fairness, discrimination, and meaningfulness. For Vandeyar and Killen (2003), if
teachers have a clear understanding of these principles; they can have an informed framework of using
assessment results to make better informed decisions from assessment results. When teachers
misunderstand these principles, their assessment practices are more likely to generate worthless
information and this might hinder them applying various classroom assessment strategies and form to
assess and evaluate the students. Therefore in order to be more competent and knowledgeable in AFL;
teachers are in need of professional development in order to foster effective AFL in in their
classrooms. In addition, another factor that will increase an awareness of classroom assessment

Panzer Division s and concrete slabs just laying around on the ground charred due to the tanks and
bazookas. Also, the area where the 101st landed on the starting of Operation Market Garden the grassy
area with the river crossing near it is accurate in the film. The film shows the bridge that was blown up
near Eindhoven and then built by the Allied Forces using a Bailey bridge. In the book Market Garden:
The Allied Invasion of Holland, it states one of bridges near Son which is near Eindhoven was blown
up by the Nazi s and rebuilt using a Bailey bridge. A bailey bride was portable, already built bridges
ready to be deployed anywhere needed in World War 2. The book and movie both state the same
things. The book and film both show that buildings are blown up due to tanks and bridges are rebuilt
using the bailey bridge. Next, the film does correctly displays all character with the correct feature

The Historical Context Of Esther s Esther
Esther is a book about a young, Jewish girl who found favor with King Ahasuerus and became queen
of Persia. The story begins with Vashti, who was queen before Esther. When the king requested that
Vashti come before the banquet he was throwing, she refused. This angered the king and she lost her
good standing. He also ordered that every woman should give honor to her husband. From here begins
the specific pericope discussed in this paper. Beginning at Esther 2:1, the king is convinced to bring
young virgins to him and choose the one that pleases him the most to take Vashti s place. The text
moves on to discuss how Mordecai came to be under Xerxes rule.
Now that the discussion of the summarized backstory to the verses deliberated in this paper ... Show

In reality, it is difficult to tie any of the stories in Esther to actual historical events. The Persian
Empire, for one, did not consist of 127 provinces; rather, it only had 20. There are no records of any
Persian king giving the order to kill off all of the Jewish population, nor of any Persian king giving the
order that the Jews could defend themselves. The sheer number of Persians killed in the Esther ,
75,000, is unlikely because there are no historical records of any slaughter that size (Harris 243). On
the other hand, scholars believe that the king portrayed in Esther is Xerxes I, so it is possible that at
least some of the information involved is based on truth (Harris 242). The knowledge that the author
portrays of Persian court and customs also lends to the belief that some of the information is true
(Harris 243). It is also possible that a Persian king had a woman of Jewish descent in his large harem ,
but it is unlikely that such a woman would have been his first wife (Harris 243). Scholars suggest that
Esther is, instead of a work of history, a work of historical fiction due to the balance of historical fact
and authorial flair (Leith

Comparison Between Benjamin Halpern And Andrew Rosenberg
Benjamin Halpern and Andrew Rosenberg have differing viewpoints as to whether or not our marine
resources can be sustainably managed. Halpern believes this can be achieved if traditional fishing
should be limited from marine protected areas to allow maintenance of these fisheries. But when
speaking about sustainable approaches for our marine resources with the public there s a lot of
resistance because the public tends to view these areas as excluded. In other words, the public is not
allowed traditional fishing, water sports, or other similar activities in those areas. That s why there are
different types of sustainable use and management of those resources. Areas like nursery grounds to
protect ecosystems are different from other areas settled for fishing species like the commercial
lobster, for example. Some species are set aside and protected until they reach a certain growth so then
they can eventually migrate to an area where they can be reached by local officials.
It will take a lot of education and training; conversations, discussions and outreach to other areas so
people can come and learn the use and value of such projects. It will take some time, but it can happen
because at the end of the day we do want a conservation of the ... Show more content on

These marine protected areas that are being recognized as efficient tools for protecting eco systems
and bringing benefits to our local communities. There is still room for improvement because many of
these areas today are not effectively managed. There are many differences in their revenues and
management profiles. And all of these MPAs share a common problem a critical lack of sustainable
funding for their recurrent expenses and investments. Rosenberg would agree this as one of the main
reasons our marine resources can t be managed. If there is no predictable funding, the MPAs cannot

Principles Of A Group Dynamics
G.6.a. Approach to principles of a group dynamics, group process, development stage philosophies,
group members roles and behaviors, and therapeutic factors of group.
Through the use of Textbooks , this CACPRE standard (2009) helped me to comprehend the process
of all items that are basic to the unfolding of group from the beginning to end. For example, group
norms, generating trust, how conflict emerges in a group, patterns of resistance, and shared goals that
characterize a particular social group. Furthermore, I understand that group dynamics can provide an
empirical validation for pre screening, the forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning
phases (Corey, Corey, and Corey, 2014). In addition, tools for assessing, the use of a Likert, Zung
Depression Questionnaire and Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire Revise (SBQR), can help build an
organized and well balanced group.
G.6.b. Group leadership or facilitation styles and approaches, plus characteristics of various categories
of group leaders and leadership styles.
The use of Textbooks ASGW code of ethics, in class experience and discussions. I have learned that
each leader should talk about their theoretical orientations and how one perceives group work
(Thomas, Pender, 2008). In addition, are the leaders experienced in leading a group? In other words,
discuss each other s cultural and ethnic backgrounds; be honest about their values are utmost
important. Hence, one point that can be overlooked is

A Theory Of Sexism As Ambivalence Toward Women And...
Purpose The purpose of this study was to develop a theory of sexism devised as ambivalence toward
women and validate a corresponding measure, the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (ASI). Past research
on sexism has been predominantly conceptualized as hostility toward women. However, from a
historical and contemporary perspective, images of women have not been strictly negative. Within the
realm of sexism, images of women can also be seen in a positive manner. Therefore, Glick and Fiske
(1996) investigated the multidimensionality of sexism by examining both the hostile and benevolent
aspects of sexism.
Step 1: Item Generation Glick and Fiske (1996) used deductive methods to develop their preliminary
scale items. The item generation process was guided by theory definitions of hostile sexism,
benevolent sexism, paternalism, gender differentiation, and heterosexuality. Taking these theories into
account, Glick and Fiske (1996) labeled the two sets of related sexual beliefs (hostile and benevolent)
as ambivalent sexism. Furthermore, their theory of ambivalent sexism shares some similarities with
past research on ambivalent racism. The initial item pool consisted of 140 items on a five point likert
scale. Hinkin (1998) suggests that the statements of the items should be as simple and short as
possible, something that Glick and Fiske (1996) did seem to keep in mind. Double barreled and
leading questions / statements also seemed to be avoided for the most part. Hinkin also

Ishmael Essay
Ishmael
The book Ishmael, which was written by Daniel Quinn, is an adventure for the human mind and for
society as a whole. Throughout the book Quinn explores many factual scientific principals, but the
intent of the book is not to give one a lecture on science. The intentions of Quinn are to discuss and
examine the beginnings and also the history of our ecologically dominating culture in which we live
in. In this book, Ishmael is a telepathic, highly educated gorilla who explores with his fifth pupil the
stories of the Takers and the Leavers. The Takers is a society in which man has freed himself from
living day to day, through this wondering if he will be able to find food tomorrow. Takers believe that
through technology they can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Leaver culture is not an uncivilized one. This culture of the Leavers is a great contrast to that one
of that that Takers have.
To the Takers point of view, the world before them seemed to be chaotic, messy, and in need of some
straightening out. The basic premise of the Takers philosophy is that man is in conflict with nature,
and this position at the apex of evolution can only be maintained by completely and totally conquering
the world. An example of this is when Ishmael explains, We re destroying the world because we are,
in a very literal and deliberate way, at war with it (Quinn 130). The Takers that the natural law does
not apply to man and his science and technology offer protection from the hunger, sickness, and
certain death, in which all other species in the wild suffer from. Therefore man is free to act with
malice toward the world without any consequences from these actions in which he does.
As a society of Takers, what can we do to curb the destruction of our planets resources? As Ishmael
states, What were you expecting a magic word that would sweep all the nastiness away? (Quinn 250).
Here, Quinn is saying that our culture s destructive tendencies are not something that will self correct
it self or just simply disappear. He also reminds us that all of our industrial and agricultural
accomplishments have been based on inventions. Therefore, that is there inventions and

Go Back To California Essay
According to this week s lecture, this topic covered the significance of California, why is it a diverse
state, and how does it attract many people from outside of California. Throughout this main idea,
California is a number one largest history in the United State and this what brings people from others
including outside of the country to explore California. California has been important through the huge
change in this state that everyone had notice way back from the past and many great places to visit.
From the reading, Notes from a Native Daughter by Joan Didion, she states that Going back to

Plus California has memorable places where we can visit, take pictures, and experience. Since I am a
nature loving person, I enjoyed going to places that are natural and far more like Yosemite National
Park. And I realizes there are also changes in that area. This is why I m currently majoring in
Evolutionary Biology and Ecology so I can earn my chance to visit new places where I wished to go
in the future as I have a great career in life and share it with my family and friends. Also, I m enjoying
taking photos based on nature everywhere I go alone, with friends and family. There was one time was
made a bike trip from UC Merced Campus to the Universal Service Recycling Merced all alone, it
was a twenty miles trip. I literally rode straight on Lake and this is the place where I admired, so I
took most my snapshots. So far I have taken photos of the Snowy Sierra Mountain, a campus that was
a distance, and a snapshot of beautiful farmland area. And then when I went back to campus, I show to
most of my friends and they are really interested and know how I m really into nature and traveling. I
found that was one of my memorable time that I did when I actually came to Merced. I felt Merced is
a lot different than when I used to live before which is the Bay Area. Therefore California obtains its
many distinctions of the great areas

Paleolithic Religious Behavior Essay
Religious behaviors developed to what they are today beginning in the pre historic times of the
Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and the Neolithic. There is evidence of these behaviors in the archaeological
artifacts as well as mythological evidence. Religious behaviors evolved as humans evolved.
Religious beliefs changed too. In the Paleolithic we learn that people were very spiritual; everything
was treated as a spiritual act. They approached everything ritualistically and their behaviors were in
response to the numinous. The numinous is described as a feeling you get when you can t explain
something. There is archaeological evidence pointing to animal worship during this time too. Spiritual
beliefs in the Paleolithic gave way to forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The myths suggest that the three cultures (farmers, herders, and hunters), came from the three sons of
Noah. Prior to that, in the myth of the First Family, there were two types of people, or two different
cultures. There was Cain, who was a farmer, a tiller of the ground, and his brother Abel, who was a
herder, or keeper of the flock. In a later myth we are introduced to Nimrod, who was a hunter, thus
rounding out the three groups.
Those three groups had their own set of religious behaviors. Those behaviors included animal
sacrifice, human sacrifice, ritual sex, and ritual abstinence. Other behaviors emerged that may not be
considered religious behaviors but instead, ways of life , but are worth mentioning since they
developed over time along with the religious behaviors and played a major role in the lives of the
early humans and shaping evolution. Those ways of life include: shamanism, priesthood, matriarchy,
patriarchy, Apollonian and Dionysian. We can better understand the religious behaviors of the
different cultures only after we identify the pattern of culture, or traits, each one exhibited. The
patterns of culture are associated with the characteristics in the distinction between the gods Apollo
and Dionysius. Apollo was the god of light and Dionysius was the god of wine. Therefore, the
characteristics are referred to as Apollonian and Dionysian. During the Mesolithic, Dionysian
tendencies gave way to Apollonian tendencies.

Enter Andrew Jackson, who appealed to those voters who felt threatened by the changing economic picture. Jackson and his supporters believed that the Republican/Whig political party represented an elitist, aristocratic government that would put the ever expanding economy and their own profit above the liberty and good of the majority and it was the good of the majority that Jackson would rely on with great success. He believed that the preservation of the Republic depended on the majority and the majority was represented by independent farmers, who were profiting the least from the Market Revolution. Believing that any government based on aristocracy could become corrupt, he felt that that the best way was to treat all of the citizens alike and turn the rule of the country over to the majority. This majority, with the fiery General Andrew Jackson as their leader, would create the Democratic Party. Watson s focus on political parties, chapter 6, is an important part of this book. Between the characters of the guard from George Orwell s A Hanging and the servant from Edgar Allen Poe s A Tell Tale Heart , they both experience the act of taking another person s life. The guard from A Hanging works at a prison in Burma where felons await execution. His job is to lead the convicted men to their doom and makes sure everything goes routinely and swift. While the servant from A Tell Tale Heart is a psychopathic man who lets his obsession over his boss s glasseye lead him to plot and carry out his death. As shown, the guard finds it hard to accept the justifications for killing. He sees life as something precious and feels that even if the option to end someone s life is there, using it would be inhumane. On the other hand, in the story of The Tell Tale Heart it is clearly shows that the servant has no regard for life. He states that whenever [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold (Poe 1). This very gradually (Poe 1) led him to the point where he made up [his] mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid [himself] of the eye forever (Poe 1). This alone displays that the servant considers life as something that is simply disposable because he sees one flaw in the old man. He feels that the only way to be able to be satisfied is to get rid of what is bothering him. When it comes to both of these characters, their views on apply death are completely different. The guard sees that there is something wrong with ending the life ofsomeone who is completely healthy, while the servant feels that life is something that could be cut short and ended without a second though. Finally, both protagonists differ in the way they react to the deaths. For the prison guard as soon as the killing took place an enormous relief had come upon [them] now that the job was done (Orwell 34 35). The killing causes such a burden on him and the rest of the staff because it was their duty as guards, they never have any say as to if they could spare the prisoner. ... Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Research Paper The life of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is marked by his remarkable refusal to abandon that which he loved and believed in, even under the iron grip of oppression. Born in 1918, the Russian spent the majority of his early life in the city of Rostov on Don where he lived with his widowed mother. As a young man, Aleksandr developed a passion for writing, and began looking for places to print his works when he was only a teenager. I will first briefly explain the Boston Matrix and then analyse its effectiveness as an aid to making a marketing strategy. Like Ansoff s matrix, the Boston Matrix is a well known tool for marketing managers. It was developed by the large US consulting group and is a way that a business can compare all of its products. The two aspects it looks at are market share (relative to that of competitors) and market growth. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars (products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions like this... Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must be taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high market share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a very specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a companies resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of money must be spent on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it wants. The good thing about this is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future become a cash cow and the companies will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be able to support new products. Do you see the cycle that the products follow?, this all links very closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a company should not just assume that a product will follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a product will follow this cycle and a marketing department would be stupid to assume that a product will. This is another problem with using the Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with all other aspects of marketing), that markets just aren t that predictable. ... Throughout this semester, the most prevalent subject that has continuously risen from conversation is that of sacrifice. Through the three books read in class, A Tale of Two Cities, A Doll s House, and Brave New World, one can learn that sacrifice is not a selfless thing, but a necessary part of life when attaining something he or she feels is of greater value. In A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens, Sydney Carton is introduced as a lethargic alcoholic that has little interest in living. As the story progresses, however, Dickens shows Sydney s interest in another character named Lucie. Later, Sydney even announces his love to her before she weds another man, Charles Darnay, yet he still continues to speak of the worthlessness of his life as the story continues. It becomes very obvious to the reader that Lucie is the focal point of Sydney s life, and that he lives primarily in the light of her happiness. Towards the end of the novel, Darnay is in prison and soon facing the guillotine. Sydney, who looks stunningly similar to Darnay, takes his place and dies to ensure Lucie s happiness with Darnay in their future. • 24. Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and what advantages it has. A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family generations. Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops. Other advantages that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As teachers play a major role in student achievements and preparing them for future, it is essential for them to understand how to assess and evaluate students learning outcomes (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). For this reason, Reynolds, Livingston, Willson, (2009); McMillan, (2008); Nitko, (2001) maintain the common argument that because AFL plays a vital role in teaching and learning related activities teachers should master basic assessment competencies. Without this ability the type of assessment will be useless for the future learning of the students. For example, most common type of assessment provided in the classrooms are pen and paper tests taken at the end of a unit, the result from this is never used to improved student learning as teachers perceive the topic as completed and done with. Vandeyar and Killen (2003) argued that regardless of educational setting, high quality assessment practices should satisfy essential principles such as validity, reliability, fairness, discrimination, and meaningfulness. For Vandeyar and Killen (2003), if teachers have a clear understanding of these principles; they can have an informed framework of using assessment results to make better informed decisions from assessment results. When teachers misunderstand these principles, their assessment practices are more likely to generate worthless information and this might hinder them applying various classroom assessment strategies and form to assess and evaluate the students. Purpose The purpose of this study was to develop a theory of sexism devised as ambivalence toward women and validate a corresponding measure, the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (ASI). Past research on sexism has been predominantly conceptualized as hostility toward women. However, from a historical and contemporary perspective, images of women have not been strictly negative. Within the realm of sexism, images of women can also be seen in a positive manner. Therefore, Glick and Fiske (1996) investigated the multidimensionality of sexism by examining both the hostile and benevolent aspects of sexism. Step 1: Item Generation Glick and Fiske (1996) used deductive methods to develop their preliminary scale items. The item generation process was guided by theory definitions of hostile sexism, benevolent sexism, paternalism, gender differentiation, and heterosexuality. Taking these theories into account, Glick and Fiske (1996) labeled the two sets of related sexual beliefs (hostile and benevolent) as ambivalent sexism. Furthermore, their theory of ambivalent sexism shares some similarities with past research on ambivalent racism. The initial item pool consisted of 140 items on a five point likert scale. Hinkin (1998) suggests that the statements of the items should be as simple and short as possible, something that Glick and Fiske (1996) did seem to keep in mind. Double barreled and leading questions / statements also seemed to be avoided for the most part. Hinkin also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Ishmael Essay Ishmael The book Ishmael, which was written by Daniel Quinn, is an adventure for the human mind and for society as a whole. Throughout the book Quinn explores many factual scientific principals, but the intent of the book is not to give one a lecture on science. The intentions of Quinn are to discuss and examine the beginnings and also the history of our ecologically dominating culture in which we live in. In this book, Ishmael is a telepathic, highly educated gorilla who explores with his fifth pupil the stories of the Takers and the Leavers. The Takers is a society in which man has freed himself from living day to day, through this wondering if he will be able to find food tomorrow. Takers believe that through technology they can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Leaver culture is not an uncivilized one. This culture of the Leavers is a great contrast to that one of that that Takers have. To the Takers point of view, the world before them seemed to be chaotic, messy, and in need of some straightening out. The basic premise of the Takers philosophy is that man is in conflict with nature, and this position at the apex of evolution can only be maintained by completely and totally conquering the world. An example of this is when Ishmael explains, We re destroying the world because we are, in a very literal and deliberate way, at war with it (Quinn 130). The Takers that the natural law does not apply to man and his science and technology offer protection from the hunger, sickness, and certain death, in which all other species in the wild suffer from. Therefore man is free to act with malice toward the world without any consequences from these actions in which he does. As a society of Takers, what can we do to curb the destruction of our planets resources? As Ishmael states, What were you expecting a magic word that would sweep all the nastiness away? (Quinn 250). Here, Quinn is saying that our culture s destructive tendencies are not something that will self correct it self or just simply disappear. He also reminds us that all of our industrial and agricultural accomplishments have been based on inventions. Therefore, that is there inventions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since I am a nature loving person, I enjoyed going to places that are natural and far more like Yosemite National Park. And I realizes there are also changes in that area. This is why I m currently majoring in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology so I can earn my chance to visit new places where I wished to go in the future as I have a great career in life and share it with my family and friends. Also, I m enjoying taking photos based on nature everywhere I go alone, with friends and family. There was one time was made a bike trip from UC Merced Campus to the Universal Service Recycling Merced all alone, it was a twenty miles trip. I literally rode straight on Lake and this is the place where I admired, so I took most my snapshots. So far I have taken photos of the Snowy Sierra Mountain, a campus that was a distance, and a snapshot of beautiful farmland area. And then when I went back to campus, I show to most of my friends and they are really interested and know how I m really into nature and traveling. I found that was one of my memorable time that I did when I actually came to Merced. I felt Merced is a lot different than when I used to live before which is the Bay Area. Therefore California obtains its many distinctions of the great areas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Paleolithic Religious Behavior Essay Religious behaviors developed to what they are today beginning in the pre historic times of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and the Neolithic. There is evidence of these behaviors in the archaeological artifacts as well as mythological evidence. Religious behaviors evolved as humans evolved. Religious beliefs changed too. In the Paleolithic we learn that people were very spiritual; everything was treated as a spiritual act. They approached everything ritualistically and their behaviors were in response to the numinous. The numinous is described as a feeling you get when you can t explain something. There is archaeological evidence pointing to animal worship during this time too. Spiritual beliefs in the Paleolithic gave way to forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The myths suggest that the three cultures (farmers, herders, and hunters), came from the three sons of Noah. Prior to that, in the myth of the First Family, there were two types of people, or two different cultures. There was Cain, who was a farmer, a tiller of the ground, and his brother Abel, who was a herder, or keeper of the flock. In a later myth we are introduced to Nimrod, who was a hunter, thus rounding out the three groups. Those three groups had their own set of religious behaviors. Those behaviors included animal sacrifice, human sacrifice, ritual sex, and ritual abstinence. Other behaviors emerged that may not be considered religious behaviors but instead, ways of life , but are worth mentioning since they developed over time along with the religious behaviors and played a major role in the lives of the early humans and shaping evolution. Those ways of life include: shamanism, priesthood, matriarchy, patriarchy, Apollonian and Dionysian. We can better understand the religious behaviors of the different cultures only after we identify the pattern of culture, or traits, each one exhibited. The patterns of culture are associated with the characteristics in the distinction between the gods Apollo and Dionysius. Apollo was the god of light and Dionysius was the god of wine. Therefore, the characteristics are referred to as Apollonian and Dionysian. During the Mesolithic, Dionysian tendencies gave way to Apollonian tendencies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
