Directed Activities Related to Texts (DARTs) are teaching activities designed to engage students with texts and improve reading comprehension. DARTs can be done individually or in groups using various types of texts. They have several advantages such as improving reading skills, promoting critical thinking, and making learning active. Common DART activities include underlining, labeling, rearranging texts, predicting, completing tables and diagrams, and identifying causes and effects. DARTs are a useful way to introduce, reinforce, or assess learning without needing many resources.

Education is a very important role in our lives. Everyone has been being educated since the day they were
born. There is a rapidly growing demand for a higher education in the world today. Although a higher
education is difficult to receive, the rewards of self-improvement, job insurance, a development of
character, and social improvements etc satisfy individuals. Sure it is hard to attain formal education
longer, but learning for personal knowledge greatly improves individuals. Individuals learn skills like
problem solving which will teach them to figure things out for themselves. A better education will also
gain individuals’ experience. Individuals would never know what they liked or did not like if they never
had a chance to experience it. If one doesn’t know how to make educated decisions, s/he will never be
content with herself / himself. How good does it feel to outsmart someone when an individual applies
what s/he have been taught or have been able to help somebody just from the education which s/he
received? Knowledge is a very powerful thing that can change the lives of others and self.

The personality of teachers is very essential in developing students’ characters. However, the concept of teachers’ personality is a subjective concept. This study aims to recommend the concept of teachers’ personality in nurturing student characters through a literature review analysis. This study indicates that there are six key elements in the teachers’ personality; they are application of affection values, role model of noble akhlak, mastery of knowledge, self-motivation, leadership skills and sincerity. Each element has its own roles in ensuring that teachers are able to improve the students’ personality. The effects of high personality can also give students a deep understanding of what is being taught and it can attract students and teachers to interact easily with each other.

Teaching and learning context changes from one to another. Teachers are required to adapt teaching strategies according to the children learning styles. That is why there is no ‘teaching prescription’ that could be given to teachers to follow. Therefore, It is necessary for teachers to continually reflect and critically evaluate their practices to become aware of the theory and motives behind and take deliberate action to develop (Gibbs, 1988)
The webinar will discuss reflective practice and strategies to practice reflection in the context of education.

Creativity in learning and leadership has always been a hot topic in education. Creative leadership entails perceiving, thinking, and acting in novel ways to improve the life prospects of all pupils. In addition, creative leaders create the conditions, environment, and possibilities for others to be creative.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

27. Compare and Contrast
GLOBE- As our Earth is very big in size we cannot see the entire Earth at one time so
we use smaller models of the Earth to study its features. These models of Earth are
called GLOBE.
We use globe because it is the most accurate way of showing the World’s surface and
it also shows exactly how continents and oceans appear on Earth’s curved surface.
It is difficult to carry globe around and we cannot have a glance of the whole Earth at
one time.
MAP- A map is a drawing of the Earth’s surface or a part of it. Map can give more
details than a globe. A map can show the whole world at a glance. A map can be big or
small.
A book of maps is called ATLAS. Large wall maps can be hung on a wall for better
understanding of the world around us.Maps are not as accurate as globes because
they are flat but we prefer to use maps because they are easier to carry as they can be
folded.

30. The Story of Cotton
Cotton : From Seed to Fabric
Cotton grows best on fertile, well-drained soil. Cottonseed
are planted and plants are irrigated, fertilized and weeded,
as needed, during the growing cycle. After 16-20 weeks,
cotton ball are harvested by machine. Cotton is cleaned and
baled in 500 pound bales. Clean cotton which is called ‘lint’
is carded, combed and spun into yarn. Cotton yarn is dyed
and treated. Looms weave cotton yarn into fabric. People
use cottonseeds to make oil for cooking, cosmetics, and
soap. Livestock eat cottonseeds and the leftover parts of
cotton plants.
