We must take care of nature

  1. 1. The project work done by Grigoryeva Polleena School No.39 Cheboksary
  2. 2. April 22 is the Earth Day. People allover the world think about our planet. They think about air, water, plantsand animals. They say our planet isin danger. Many people don’t knowhow to keep the waters clean and theair fresh. But they are ready to do it.
  3. 3. Animals in danger Many animals and birds on theEarth are disappearing nowadays. Many of them are in danger. Indiantigers and African elephants areamong them. People have huntedand killed many tigers in India and alot of elephants in Africa. Now youcan find their names in the RedBook. People must take special careof them.

  6. 6.  The huge forests help to control the world’s weather, and to produce much of the oxygen in the air. There are many illnesses that we still can’t cure. There are old ones like cancer and new ones like AIDS. It may be that the medicines we need will be discovered in wild plants in savannas, deserts or rainforests. If we destroy these places, we will never find the cure.
  7. 7. The fragile planet The word environment means simply what is aroundus. Some people live in a town environment; forothers, their environment is the countryside. But air webreathe, the soil on which we stand and walk, thewater we drink are all part of the environment. Nowadays people understand how important it is tosolve the environmental problems that endangerpeople’s lives. The most serious environmentalproblems are: pollution in its many forms (water pollution, airpollution, nuclear pollution); noise from cars, buses, planes, etc. destruction of wildlife and countryside beauty; shortage of natural resources (metals, differentkinds of fuel);the growth of population.
  8. 8. Ecology of man It may sound funny to you, but man needsprotection and care as much as animals. People’shabitats-their homes, towns and cities-must be keptecologically clean. In the places where people drinkpoisoned water, eat bad food and breathe polluted airthey suffer from serious diseases and die early; theirchildren are born weak. No medicines prescribed by thedoctors can help them. This problem becomes moreand more serious with every passing day. The modern way of life when people have littlephysical activity, use cars instead of walking, watchtelevision for many hours and work on computers isturning them into legless creatures.
  9. 9. Many rivers and lakes are poisonedtoo. Fish and reptiles can’t live inthem. There is not enough oxygen inthe water. In such places all thebirds leave their habitats and manyplants die. It happens so becausefactories and plants produce a lot ofwaste and pour it into rivers. So theypoison the water. After the water isused it becomes poison which goesback into rivers, lakes and seas.

  11. 11. Greenpeace Greenpeace is an international environmentalorganization. It was founded in 1969 by a groupof Canadian environmentalists. Members ofGreenpeace appear in places where theenvironment is endangered. They always act fastand bravely. The whole world knows about theGreenpeace actions to stop hunting whales orkilling baby seals. They block the way to shipsthat try to dump waste, and work hard to createa nuclear-free world. The activity of Greenpeaceoften annoys governments, companies andpeople who don’t care about the future of theworld.
  12. 12. Sometimes Greenpeace activity can be quitedangerous. For example, on July 10,1985,theGreenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior , that was onits way to French Polynesia to protest againstnuclear tests, was destroyed by French agents. Itcreated a serious international accident. Greenpeace has offices in man countries of theworld including Russia. People, who can’t takepart in Greenpeace actions directly support thisorganization with money. Greenpeace members are often referred to as ”greens”. The “greens” are groups of peoplewhose aim is protection of natural things, e.g.plants and animals.
