Once the leader feels there are
enough ideas, move to the
evaluation phase to choose one

The principle behind mind mapping is

‘branches’ of trunks and then ‘wings’.
Put main ideas as
keywords on ‘trunks’
radiating out from the
middle.
Start in the middle of the page with
the problem.
Wherever possible use
color plus logos or

It is true that we are usually our own worst enemy when it
comes to our own creativity, but even if we know we have the
idea of the century, selling it to management (or the Board of
Trustees) may be incredibly tough. The status quo is
comfortable, creative change is not.
It is a great idea but,
unfortunately, we don’t
have the budget.

Do your homework before proposing your new idea to the
decision-makers. One method to prepare to face the 'enemy' (status
quo inertia) is to conduct an analysis of the forces working against
your idea as well as those working in your favor.
