This paper will focus on how to plan experiments effectively and how to analyse data correctly. Practical and correct methods for analysing data from life testing will also be provided. This paper gives an extensive overview of reliability issues, definitions and prediction methods currently used in the industry. It defines different methods and correlations between these methods in order to make reliability comparison statements from different manufacturers' in easy way that may use different prediction methods and databases for failure rates. The paper finds however such comparison very difficult and risky unless the conditions for the reliability statements are scrutinized and analysed in detail.

Software cost estimation is an important task in the software design and development process.
Planning and budgeting tasks are carried out with reference to the software cost values. A variety of
software properties are used in the cost estimation process. Hardware, products, technology and
methodology factors are used in the cost estimation process. The software cost estimation quality is
measured with reference to the accuracy levels.
Software cost estimation is carried out using three types of techniques. They are regression based
model, anology based model and machine learning model. Each model has a set of technique for the
software cost estimation process. 11 cost estimation techniques fewer than 3 different categories are
used in the system. The Attribute Relational File Format (ARFF) is used maintain the software product
property values. The ARFF file is used as the main input for the system.
The proposed system is designed to perform the clustering and ranking of software cost
estimation methods. Non overlapped clustering technique is enhanced with optimal centroid estimation
mechanism. The system improves the clustering and ranking process accuracy. The system produces
efficient ranking results on software cost estimation methods.

Running experiments is an essential part of all development, improvement, upscaling and research. Very often, experiments are run following traditional legacy designs. Only one factor gets changed over a series of experiments. Single-factor experiments are not possible with mixture designs as all the components have to add up to the total.

Role of optimization in engineering design is prominent one with the advent of computers. Optimization has become a part of computer aided design activities. It is prima rily being used in those design activities in which the goal is not only to achieve just a feasible design,but also a des ign objective. In most engineering design activities,the design objective could be simply to minimize the cost of production or to maximize the efficiency of the production. An optimization algorithm is a procedure which is executed it eratively by comparing various solutions till the optimum or a satisfactory solution is found. In many industri al design activities,optimization is achieved indirectly by comparing a few chosen design solutions and accept ing the best solution. This simplistic approach never guarantees and optimization algorithms being with one or more d esign solutions supplied by the user and then iteratively check new design the true optimum solution. There ar e two distinct types of optimization algorithms which are in use today. First there are algorithms which are deterministic,with specific rules for moving from one solution to the other secondly,there are algorithms whi ch are stochastic transition rules.

This presentation to the Productivity Hub looks at recent work on the effect of information technology (IT) on labour productivity growth in New Zealand, which found no significant effect of IT on labour productivity growth in New Zealand over the period 1980-2010. Existing productivity studies often fail to take into account the effect of shocks and shared characteristics in some industries in a country on other industries in the same country. Using data for 26 industries over the period 1980-2010, the study employs a relatively novel quantitative approach. This presentation examines this parametric study and linkages with work by Statistics New Zealand.

Software testing effort estimation with cobb douglas function- a practical ap...eSAT Journals
Abstract Effort estimation is one of the critical challenges in Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). It is the basis for the project’s effort estimation, planning, scheduling and budget planning. This paper illustrates model with an objective to depict the accuracy and bias variation of an organization’s estimates of software testing effort through Cobb-Douglas function (CDF). Data variables selected for building the model were believed to be vital and have significant impact on the accuracy of estimates. Data gathered for the completed projects in the organization for about 13 releases. Statistically, all variables in this model were statistically significant at p<0.05><0.01 levels. The Cobb-Douglas function was selected and used for the software testing effort estimation. The results achieved with CDF were compared with the estimates provided by the area expert. The model’s estimation figures are more accurate than the expert judgment. CDF has one of the appropriate techniques for estimating effort for software testing. CDF model accuracy is 93.42%.

It is shown that it is possible to do asymptotic likelihood inference for software reliability models based on order statistics or Non-Homogeneous Poisson Processes (NHPP), with asymptotic confidence levels for interval estimates of parameters. In particular, interval estimates from these models are obtained for the conditional failure rate of the software, given the data from the debugging process. The data can be grouped or ungrouped. For someone making a decision about when to market software, the conditional failure rate is an important parameter. Order statistics are used in a wide variety of practical situations. Their use in characterization problems, detection of outliers, linear estimation, study of system reliability, life-testing, survival analysis, data compression and many other fields can be seen from the many books. Statistical Process Control (SPC) can monitor the forecasting of software failure and thereby contribute significantly to the improvement of software reliability. Control charts are widely used for software process control in the software industry. Software Defect Prediction Using Local and Global AnalysisEditor IJMTER
The software defect factors are used to measure the quality of the software. The software
effort estimation is used to measure the effort required for the software development process. The defect
factor makes an impact on the software development effort. Software development and cost factors are
also decided with reference to the defect and effort factors. The software defects are predicted with
reference to the module information. Module link information are used in the effort estimation process.
Data mining techniques are used in the software analysis process. Clustering techniques are used
in the property grouping process. Rule mining methods are used to learn rules from clustered data
values. The “WHERE” clustering scheme and “WHICH” rule mining scheme are used in the defect
prediction and effort estimation process. The system uses the module information for the defect
prediction and effort estimation process.
The proposed system is designed to improve the defect prediction and effort estimation process.
The Single Objective Genetic Algorithm (SOGA) is used in the clustering process. The rule learning
operations are carried out sing the Apriori algorithm. The system improves the cluster accuracy levels.
The defect prediction and effort estimation accuracy is also improved by the system. The system is
developed using the Java language and Oracle relation database environment.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
