Mexican Prison Gang
Gangs are not a new thing they have been around for years but what is a gang really? According to the
National Institute of Justice there is not universally agreed definition of what a gang is such a
motorcycle gangs, prison gangs, organized crime, terrorist and so much more. The federal definition is
a group of three of more individuals that identify themselves as a group. They have created a sense of
fear or intimidation they also have a symbol, a style of clothing, a common name and much more.
These groups engage in criminal activities and use violence to keep power and a reputation. These

most notorious crimes that the NLR has committed was the beating and murder of a black teenager in
1996 by two NLR gang members Danny Williams and Eric Dillard, who then also assaulted two more
black men in July of that year. During a raid in 2001 authorities confiscated 73 guns, grenades, body

Essay On Londonwood
There are many wonderful reasons to visit England: its lush, green landscapes, its rich history and, of
course, the landmarks of London. But, first and foremost, England is part of the island of Great Britain,
which means it is filled with beautiful, authentic seaside towns just waiting to be discovered. Whether
a traveler is seeking breathtaking views, fresh local seafood or a frothy pint of beer at a charming
village pub, the English coast has it all. Here are eight towns along the English coast that offer visitors
a taste of authentic England: 1. With its distinctive north and south coasts, Devon is a sea lover s dream
destination. However, even in a county teeming with seaside towns, Ilfracombe stands out. Founded in

However, over the last decade, Margate has reinvented itself as an artsy beach community that still
pays homage to its past. The tiny lanes of Old Town exude a quaint old English charm, while the shops
themselves give off a funky modern vibe. Meanwhile, formerly closed Dreamland theme park has been
resurrected as a retro amusement destination, keeping true to its roots as the U.K. s original pleasure
park with historic rides and classic sideshows. 5. At a glance, vibrant, LGBT friendly Brighton, Sussex,
tilts toward the modern, with its looming i360 observation tower and a neon flashing pier rumbling
with amusement rides. However, a walk through the shops, restaurants and pubs that line Brighton s
famous, maze like 18th century Lanes feels like a trip through time, and those who explore the town s
seafront bars will discover some of the best, and most diverse, nightlife outside of London. Brighton is
authentic England at its progressive best. 6. Of all the seaside places to visit in England, Whitstable,
Kent, may offer the best seafood. Known for its oysters since the time of the Romans, Whitstable
remains one of the most traditional seaside towns in England. Though a popular holiday destination, it
is largely uncommercialized and populated with friendly folks who are happy to chat with guests

Everyday Life Being Deaf
What is it like to be deaf?
Imagine waking up to your mom flashing the lights and stomping her feet on the floor. You can
vaguely see her feet moving and feel the vibration running through the room but you can t hear her feet
hit the floor. This is because you are deaf. When you finally get up you realize your mom is saying
something to you. You quickly wipe away the sleep in your eyes so you can catch her signs. She uses a
form of sign language, called Pidgin Signed English (PSE), that is basically American Sign Language
(ASL) and Sign Exact English (SEE) combined to make an in between language. She tells you to put
your hearing aids in and come down to breakfast. You reach over and put your hearing aids in and walk
downstairs. Now comes the challenge of following your large families breakfast discussions. You still
don t understand what they are saying, even with your hearing aids, but at least you know who is
talking. But that s just life being deaf. Everyday Life Being Deaf or Hard of Hearing ... Show more

The Sadler Report was a report written in 1832 by Michael Thomas Sadler. Its full name is The Sadler

The Airline Industry
According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts
Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even if
a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed
and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the
world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external
factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the
general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have
an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry.
GENERAL ENVIRONMENT
The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm
must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural,
economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this
means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a
firm s strategy choice.
Demographic
As depicted in Chart A in the appendix, disposable income has experienced an overall increase over the
past 10 years (United States Disposable Personal Income, 2015). This means that individuals have

The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association Essay
The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association uses Gordon s Framework as a foundation for its
nursing diagnosis (Edelman Mandle 2014). Gordon s framework consists of functional health patterns
as defined by Endleman and Mandle (2014) is, viewing the individual as a whole being using
interrelated behavioral areas (p. 150). There are eleven patterns used as a tool to collect information
during assessments in order to create a plan for validation and communication among the nursing
profession. It focuses on five areas; pattern, individual environment, age development, functional and
lastly cultural. With the various detailed questions related to the health perception, is a method devised
by Marjory Gordon to be used by nurses in the nursing process to provide a more comprehensive
nursing assessment of the patient. Marjorie Gordon (1987) proposed functional health patterns as a
guide for establishing a comprehensive nursing data base. These 11 categories make possible a
systematic and standardized approach to data collection, and enable the nurse to determine the
following aspects of health and human function: At this time I have not been able to incorporate
Gordon s framework within my practice for I have been home since week 2 has begun. I am able to

gifted education and funding Essay
How Lack Of Funding Effects Gifted Students In Ohio
This year is a landmark year for Gifted Education in Ohio; for the last few years the number of gifted
children in Ohio has been growing steadily. This year for the first time the percentage of children in
Ohio that were identified as Gifted and Talented finally equaled the percentage of children who were
served in Special Education Classrooms. There is only one small problem with this statement. The
percentage is equal only if you count the students who are identified as being Talented and Gifted, not
served. There are currently only 11% of all Talented and Gifted students being served in the State of
Ohio.
The Ohio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ohio now requires school district to test students to see how gifted they are, and to notify parents that
there students are talented and gifted, but does not require that school districts do anything to enhance
or accelerate that child s education. The state would never consider doing this to a child in special
education, but it is well accepted in gifted education.
The Ohio Department of Education beliefs that gifted children can make it on their own and do not
need special services. This is not true, high percentages of students become underachieves and never
attend college. Many are discipline problems, eventually dropout, and many commit suicide. Many
gifted students who stand out in classrooms, are often used as a tutor for the other students. This only
further excludes them from learning and makes them stand out to ridicule.
The No Child Left Behind law is commonly referred to as the No Child Pushed Forward law in the
gifted community. This is due to the fact the classrooms are required to assure that every child meets
basic requirements, however once gifted children meet these requirements they are required to wait and
practice a few more times while every catches up. This law has helped many slow learning students,
but it has impeded many gifted students.

The Crucible written by Arthur Miller is a play that takes place in the sixteen nineties during the
famous but tragic witch trials. Reverend Hale who is a minister and an expert of the demonic arts and
witchcraft is sent from East Hanover to Salem where there is a spreading fear of witchcraft. When Hale
arrives in Salem he finds the entire town in total chaos. At the beginning Hale is adamant in believing
that they re where witches and that nothing but good could come of his being there. Near the end when
the truth has been exposed, Hale with so much blood on his head pleads : I come to do the Devil s

After a few days of court Hale visits several households without the courts authority, and goes to John
Proctors house to have a few words with John and his wife . At the end of the talks Proctor states : And
why not, if they must hang for denying it? There are them that will swear to anything before they ll
hang ; have you never thought of that? (69).
Hale knows that people will confess to anything to avoid being hanged, and he is deeply troubled when
he learns of Abigail s motifs for revenge. Respected people have told Hale that the trials are non sense.
He has tried to find holes in these people s reasoning, so he can be reassured he hasn t made a big
mistake in his aiding of the conviction of these people, but their reasoning is completely logical. Hale
becomes more aware of the truth near the end of Act II, when Giles Corey and Francis Nurse report
that their wives have been taken away. Reverend Hale is surprised, but disturbed by the news because
he thought of Rebecca as surely being innocent when he met her. He says that, if Rebecca Nurse be
tainted, then nothing s left to stop the whole greenworld from burning (71). Hale then tries to explain
her arrest by saying (in great pain) : Man remember, until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought
him beautiful in Heaven (71).
At this point Hale hopes that the trials are legitimate, and tries to account for unusual happenings, but
things just do not add up. The nail is put in the coffin in terms

The Process Of Top Down Network Design
Introduction I chose this particular topic considering that it s not easy, and that it will enhance the skills
I already have. The topic selection should not matter that much, since the topic will merely gauge to
see what I will learn, and also challenge my ability to find solutions to various problems that I will
encounter throughout this course. This will begin with week one and ending with week seven, provided
with a business network scenario I will decide based on the assumptions and requirements to either
upgrade or design a network from scratch. My reasoning for this is simple, that if I apply what I am

As soon as these base elements are identified, it is easier to build these elements as new system. A top
down design is also known as a stepwise design, or as Cisco documentation refers to the Plan Design
Implement Operate Optimize (PDIOO), (Oppenheimer 7) as a set of phases in the life cycle of a
network. What I hope to learn by doing this project is that given business goals and constraints, apply
the top down network design process and design a network based on those business goals and
constraints. From the book, at least from chapter 1, that the top down process brings together
information on goals, but also the importance of using systematic methods for network design. Using
these well defined, systematic methods will benefit in understand the changing technologies and
customer requirements. Once again, from Chapter 2, I hope to learn the importance of analyzing the
customer s business needs, his style, his biases, and his technical expertise. Understanding how to work
with a customer will assist to understand the budget and schedule for the network design project. The
bottom line for me to succeed, I need to understand my client s corporate organizational structure.
Understanding the corporate structure will aid in analyzing data flow and develop a network topology,

The Battles of Philippi
The Battles of Philippi (42 BCE):
The Death of the Roman Republic The battles of Philippi remain one of the best examples of how
audacity on the battlefield can influence history. The battles are the climax of the civil war following
the assassination of Gaius Julius Caesar in 44 BCE by a band of prominent political figures of Rome;
(led by Marcus Junius Brutus (Brutus) and Gaius Cassius Longina (Cassius)) who will be referred to in
this paper as the Liberators . The Battles that occurred on the Macedonian plains from the 1st 21st of
October 42 BCE will clearly show that no matter the period of history the battlefield considerations of
Political, Military, Economic, Social, and Physical Environment can be exploited to achieve victory. ...

Well situated on the high ground fortifications the Liberator forces could have simply outlasted the
forces of the Triumvirate. Pro Caesarian forces occupied low swampy coastal plain not well situated to
support a Roman army. In an attempt to overcome Triumvirate limitations, Mark Antony constructed a
causeway to support a troop movement to the Liberator s rear. Upon receiving intelligence that Cassius
had ordered a wall to be built cutting the causeway and isolating Mark Antony from the field, Mark
Antony seized the opportunity and attacked the Liberators (Appian, 2007). Using this technique Mark
Antony forced Cassius hand and ultimately his suicide. The Battles of Philippi hold many lessons that
apply to today s battlefield. The clearest lesson is that boldness will carry the day. By seizing the
initiative Mark Anthony overcame disadvantages of terrain and logistics. His unpredictable actions led
to the deaths of the two men that posed the largest threat to the Triumvirate. By understanding the
effect of shock, the value of initiative, and courage the Triumvirate commanders would carry the day.
Mark Antony s understanding of enemy force structure and doctrine, the effects of culture, and
experience as a leader allowed him to outwit his foe. His effective use of scouts and effective
intelligence about Liberator intentions allowed him to

the bad experiences he has endured when younger that made him become isolated and not let people in

Plate Tectonics Video Analysis
The first video was on plate tectonics, the building blocks of earth. The focus was on the interior
workings of the earth and it described the movement of the earth and the process of redistribution. The
earth is made up of several surfaces and the plates are rigid slabs of solid rock that move around the
earth s crust and upper part of the mantel. They wrap around the globe like a net and interact at
boundaries, such as land and ocean.
There are three types of place boundaries, convergent, divergent and transform. Convergent boundaries
are regions that develop when two tectonic plates collide. The area surrounding the collision becomes
mountainous as the plates buckle. This happens through a process called subduction. Divergent
boundaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different structural arrangements in the carbon atoms determine the outcome of the mineral. Diamonds
are the hardest mineral; they are formed under a covalent bond which is very strong. Graphite on the
other hand is one of the softest; it is held with a softer bond. Despite the difference in structure, both of
these minerals are made from the same substance, pure carbon.
Silicates are minerals that contain oxygen and silicon. These two elements can be found in 90% of the
earths minerals. While they do not produce the beauty of diamonds or the wealth of gold, they are used
in the making of construction material. The element in silicon is a common ingredient in many
products in the computing industry.
These two videos were a great introduction into how the earth works. The idea that there is constant
movement within and underneath the earth s crust can be taken for granted. The 1st video gave a great
illustration of how the earth moves and shifts. The second went a little deeper into what makes up the
earth. As a society it is easy to take our resources for granted, but when it comes down to it, we are an
interdependent system. The earth needs us and we need the earth s resources to survive as a

The Germination of Seeds of the Native Plant Acacia
The Germination of Seeds of the Native Plant Acacia decurrens Practical Report Biology 1
Introduction:
In a botanical sense, germination is the process of emergence of growth from a resting stage.
(http://encyclopedia.laborlawtalk.com/germination). Under favourable conditions, the seed begins to
germinate, and the embryonic tissues resume growth, developing towards a seedling.
Soils from a Cumberland Plain Woodland community were investigated to determine the presence of a
soil seed bank; and whether species richness and abundance of plants germinating from it were affected
by heating such as that experienced in a fire. It was found that certain seeds reacted differently, and he

Both Heat treated groups 1 amp; 2 had seeds that germinated within 3 4 days of receiving this heat
treatment. This averaged the amount of 66.5% of the total seeds germinated. In contrast both Control
groups that were not subjected to any form of heat treatment but were still soaked in cold water did not
show signs of germination at all within the 10 days time limit.
Discussion:
The results of the experiment demonstrate that if Acacia decurrens seeds are subjected to the heat
treatment by placing the seeds in boiling water and leaving them in that same water for a period of 24
hours, then the rate at which the seeds germinate will be affected. It can be suggested that this
increased germination rate occurs because the boiling water, by which the seeds were soaked in, breaks
down the hard coating on the outside layer of the seed, thus allowing the seedling to penetrate through
the coating and begin the germination process. This controlled

Essay on Manhood and Womanhood in Macbeth
The theme of manhood and womanhood is prevalent throughout the play of Macbeth. Macbeth s
distorted concept of manhood coupled with Lady Macbeth s distorted concept of manhood and
womanhood eventually leads to Macbeth s downfall and Lady Macbeth s suicide. Shakespeare uses the
technique of gender bending in Macbeth, where a woman will possess manly qualities and a man will
posses woman qualities. This plays a major role in Macbeth. Lesser characters such as Lady Macduff,
Macduff, Malcolm, and others deal with questions such as what is manhood and what is womanhood.
Their answers determine the course of action they take in different situations. After the opening scene
of the three witches, the play turns to the battlefield where a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After reading this, Lady Macbeth concludes, Yet do I fear thy nature; / It is too full o the milk of human
kindness / To catch the nearest way: / Art not without ambition, but without / The illness should attend
it (1.5.15 19). Lady Macbeth thinks that Macbeth is too kind and not ruthless enough to take the crown
for himself, which is his goal. She thinks a man should be ruthless and aggressive in achieving his goal.
That is her problem. She thinks that greatness should be divorced from goodness and the nearest way
from human kindness (Ramsey 265). She will try to impose that distorted view of manhood on
Macbeth later, which will create a monster of him. She also shows she is ambitious, but her ambition is
self sacrificing while Macbeth s is selfish ambition (Gerwig 135). That is another key difference
between manhood and womanhood in this play. Macbeth wants the crown for himself, but Lady
Macbeth wants Macbeth to have the crown and she is willing to do anything to help him. Shakespeare
again uses gender bending with these two characters. Lady Macbeth seems ruthless and aggressive,
traits associated with a man, while Macbeth is kind and tender, traits associated with a woman. Lady
Macbeth s soloquoy in Scene 5 shows that she rejects her womanhood and wants to be more like a
man. Unsexing herself, according to Rackin, makes her a monster by definition.

Confessions Of A Key Board Dabbler
Confessions of a Key Board Dabbler
On September 9th I attended my first SWIC Music Faculty Preview Recital at the Schmidt Art Center.
The venue for the afternoon recital was held in the gallery room, a room set up for an audience of about
50 music majors. In the front of the hall sat a white grand piano on parquet floors; the walls of the
room were adorned with art of varying mediums. Having mucked around on the piano as a child, I sat
enthusiastically as a musical amateur in great awe of anyone with talent of the keyboard or gift of
music of any kind.
The first two pieces in the program were by Austrian composer Franz Schubert 1797 1828. In 1808,
through a competitive examination, the eleven year old Schubert was accepted into the choir of the
Imperial Court Chapel as well as the Royal Seminary. He was a shy youth, and spent most of his spare
time practicing and composing alone. When Shubert was fifteen his voice changed and he left the choir
but continued to study at the seminary. As discussed in lecture, each period of music has a chain
reaction between artists who are affected by the events of their environment. Post war 1950 s America
had the progression of Jazz with artists such as Charlie Bird Parker pushing the limits of the saxophone
to create the bebop sound, echoed in the rhythm of prose of writer Jack Kerouac and Jackson Pollock s
abstract of the brush. Franz Schubert s fellow artists were no different at the turn of the eighteenth
century as the

Chapter 24 Industry Comes of Age, 1865 1900 I. The Iron Colt Becomes an Iron Horse
1. Railroads began being built much more following the Civil War going from 35000 miles of track in
1865 to 192,556 miles in 1900 o Railroads were granted land by Congress
 Lands were kept from all other users while railroad companies discussed which lands for optimal for
railroads which stemmed from the original system of checker board distribution of land to the
companies
1. This was put to an end in 1887 by Cleveland
2. Towns and cities sprang from lands where railroads were built and those that were far from railroads
became ghost towns
II. Spanning the Continent with Rails

Railroad Consolidation and Mechanization
1. These newer western railroads were backed by the older eastern ones like the one under Cornelius
Vanderbilt, New York Central
2. New Tech: steel rails that were stronger than iron, Westinghouse air brakes, Pullman Palace Cars
which were the premiere cars that had telegraphs and block signals o Despite these advancements,
death via train accidents were pretty common
V. Revolution by Railways
1. These new railroads glued the country together thus creating a massive new market and loads of jobs
contributing to the industrialisation of the US. Said industrialisation helped along mining and
agriculture and brought supplies to the people that worked in said industries
2. The Great Plains, previously inhospitable, were now being populated
3. Time zones were first introduced on November 18, 1883 due to these railroads as opposed to each
city having its own time zone
4. The first millionaires arose from this era of railroads
VI. Wrongdoing in Railroading
1. The Gould scandal involved embezzlement of stocks from the Pacific, Texas, Union Pacific, Kansas
Pacific, and Erie railroads
2. Stock watering The over inflation of stock worth to sell for massive profit
3. The public were abused, judges and legislatures bribed, lobbyists pressured, rebates were given
which helped the rich, and free passes used to look good in the press; in addition,

Understanding The Piezoelectric Behavior Of Ferro-Electrics
Ferro electrics are an important class of materials which posses excellent electro mechanical coupling
behavior cite{jayendiran2012modeling}. These materials have been used in sensors, actuators,
biomedical and naval applications for several years. These materials behave linearly under low electric
fields and mechanical stresses, but show nonlinearity at higher electric fields and mechanical stresses;
see the review articles cite{kamlah2001ferroelectric,landis2004non,huber2005micromechanical}.
Several experiments have been conducted and reported in the literature to understand the nonlinear
behavior of piezoelectric materials

viscoelastic in nature, the influence of matrix in the overall electro mechanical response of piezo
composites have been reported cite{aboudi2005hysteresis, muliana2010micromechanical,
shindo2010nonlinear}. Studies related to the influence of polymer matrix on the electro mechanical
response of piezo composites have been performed cite{jayendiran2012modeling,

alternatives for bulk PZT ceramics. Hence, it is necessary to understand the electro mechanical
behavior of different fiber volume fractions cite{jayendiran2012modeling}. Incorporation of a more
ductile epoxy matrix causes considerable creep in the system under constant electric fields and

The Nba Makes A Profit
The NBA makes a profit in many ways, for example the NBA makes millions of dollars off of
sponsorships, television contracts and selling merchandise. The National Basketball Association
recently signed a new TV agreement with TNT and ESPN to approximately make $2.6 billion per
season. Even with a total of 400 or so odd active players making an average of close to $5 million
annually, national TV contracts generate enough revenue to cover salaries and then some.
This graph depicts league revenue of the National Basketball Association from the 2001/02 season to
the 2014/15 season (Statistica, 2016). As seen the chart above clearly indicates the NBA makes a profit
and has been gradually increasing throughout the years, except for the season of 2011/12 but that s
because the season was shorted due to the lockout that had taken place.
The NBA has many different sponsors. Sponsorship spending On the NBA Totals $739 Million in 2014
2015 Season up 8.9 percent from the previous year, according to IEG research. A list of the NBA
sponsors are Anheuser Busch, Gatorade, Coca cola, Adidas, Miller Coors, Kia Spalding, Geico and etc.
Anheuser Busch is the most active sponsor of the NBA. In time insurance overtook autos to become
the most active category sponsoring the NBA. Insurance companies are five times more likely to
sponsor professional basketball than the average of all sponsors, according to the research. Auto and

In What Ways Do Social Class, Gender and Ethnicity...
Sociology Essay In what ways do social class, gender and ethnicity intersect with educational
attainment and participation? Provide some examples to illustrate. Nearly thirteen years into the new
millennium and so many of the gaps most noticeable within the education system in the twentieth
century have been closed. Attainment and participation in both primary and secondary education is
now almost equally open to boys and girls from around the world, and tertiary education is even seeing
a bias in women s attendance over men. However, despite these positive changes, social class, gender

personal achievement too. Since the industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, tertiary education has quite low worldwide education participation rates; generally in developing
countries the amount of people in tertiary is not high. Social class has a large amount to do with this.
Poverty is one of the main factors preventing people form attending university. Although gender
intersects with participation in education around the globe, the WDR 2012 Team found that, In most
countries with moderate or high total inequality in educational outcomes, less than one fifth of
inequality stems from gender . Non attendance instead, has to do more primarily with rural residence or
poverty. Gender however, does relate to reasons for participation in education and also non attendance.
Most countries have achieved equal male and female involvement in primary education. At the same
time, some countries lag behind, namely many African countries such as Niger, Chad, Benin and Togo.
(Source: WDR 2012 Team) There is also, based on World Development Indicators, a greater amount of
male participation in both primary and secondary school, although, females dominate third level
tertiary education. Between 1970 and 2008, the number of female tertiary students in the world
increased from 10.8 million to 80.9 million. (WDR 2012 Team.) Empirical evidence suggests that from
the early 1980 s onwards, when returns to women s education increased, so did

farther into the book Orwell mentions, If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself

Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay
INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the identification of a
state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea force which fills man s brain and heart
with new thoughts and sentiments and drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized
action (Agarwal, 1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and
the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different countries of the world
could achieve their independence. On the contrary, aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country.
World War I and World War II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is
concerned with justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with injustice
or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the people of a country. With this
national feeling, people of a country can make the cultural, political and economic development.
Nationalism takes different forms at different stages of the process of development of a nation or state
(Karim, 1992). There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and religions
live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism. Bangladesh has a historical
legacy of its nationalism. The people of Bangladesh had started struggling for the independence from
1857. Lords of Britain had suppressed us a lot but we did not lose our courage

Disobedient Behavior Analysis
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of behavioral issues is, an individual
evidencing maladjustment by indulging in behavior problems; especially: a child indulging in such
problems (Merriam Webster Dictionary). As we are currently living in the technological age, young
children are constantly exposed to tablets and cell phone screens to aid as a distraction when the child
begins to show disobedient behavior. Disobedient behavior can constitute excessive noise, tantrums,
hyperactivity and fussiness at the dinner table. When parents encounter their child s disobedient
behavior, they often resort to giving them a tablet or cellphone to distract them temporarily instead of

Children in third world countries are prospering immensely with the introduction of technology in their
culture by teaching the young children the importance of change, liveliness and communication. An
article published by The Guardian, written by Annie Kelly, discusses the groundbreaking change
implemented by technology in these poorer societies. Charles Kenny, senior fellow at the Center for
Global Development stated, This technology wasn t developed as a development tool yet has become
one of the greatest vehicles for change... Young people are natural adopters of new technologies and
certainly the potential for technology and digital media to be a force for innovation, education and
change is just beginning to be realized. (qted in Kelly). Kenny is discussing how the creation and
innovation of technology was not initially created for progressing of cultures and societies, but it has a
taken a turn and done just that. Kenny later says that it is vital the young children of the world are
encountered with the exposure of technology because they are the best group who can work on projects
to make a global impact in relation to older generations who can only see one side of the technological
advancement and often blame it for the poor social structure in society. Kenny and the article make a
very valid and reasonable point because technology is really the gateway to change for the future and
exposing children of all social classes is beneficial to innovation and relations between different
countries. Although, the article does not describe the negative implications technology has on a
younger demographic when it comes to the issue of pedophilia and cyber safety. The article could also
discuss how people can work together to unify and promote healthy technological relationships with

Essay Characterization in Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Characterization in Young Goodman Brown
The dialogue, action and motivation revolve about the characters in the story (Abrams 32 33). It is the
purpose of this essay to demonstrate the types of characters present in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young
Goodman Brown, whether static or dynamic, whether flat or round, and whether protrayed through
showing or telling.
There are only three well developed, or three dimensional characters, in this short story, and they are
the protagonist, Goodman Brown, and his wife, Faith, and the fellow traveller or the devil. Faith is, of
course, less well developed than her husband; much of her development comes from inference rather
than from action, dialogue and explicitly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the passage cited immediately above, the narrator is actually presenting the very
thoughts of the protagonist; this is done on numerous occasions in the tale. This contributes to the
development of Goodman
Brown as a very, very round character. As Goodman meets the fellow traveller in the woods, he sizes
him up, along with his cane:
It was now deep dusk in the forest, and deepest in that part of it where these two were journeying. As
nearly as could be discerned, the second traveller was about fifty years old, apparently in the same rank
of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to him, though perhaps more in
expression than features. Still, they might have been taken for father and son. And yet, though the elder
person was as simply clad as the younger, and as simple in manner too, he had an indescribable air of
one who knew the world, and would not have felt abashed at the governor s dinner table, or in King
William s court, were it possible that his affairs should call him thither. But the only thing about him,
that could be fixed upon as remarkable, was his staff, which bore the likeness of a great black snake, so
curiously wrought, that it might almost be seen to twist and wriggle itself like a living serpent. This, of
course, must have been an ocular deception, assisted by the uncertain light.

Anticipation and Suspense in the Adventure of the Speckled...
How does Conan Doyle create a sense of anticipation and suspense in the Adventure of the Speckled
Band?
The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a classic mystery novel. It is so in the way that it uses several
writing techniques to create a sense of ambiguity and vagueness. Conan Doyle makes sure to leave the
reader with as little information as possible and to make it hard to foresee what will happen next. This
is all to have them anticipate the ending and the solving of the mystery, to keep them gripped. Even the
very title of the novel is unclear and does well to conjure up ideas inside the readers mind. It is only
until the whole story is took in and the ending is unveiled that the reader can fully appreciate and

The meeting of Helen Stoner is very important. She is described as having veiled and fully black attire.
This suggests that she is in mourning. She is also described as having frightened eyes, like those of a
hunted animal, and being very agitated and trembling. Conan Doyle regularly uses this technique of
showing the reader the symptom before a cause is established. It is much more shocking. This is all to
construct the readers sympathy for Helen Stoner, but also instigate fear in whatever it is she fears.
Conan Doyle also uses this meeting as a means to show the reader the significance of apparently minor
and trivial clues in the story that unfolds. Sherlock Holmes deduces
Helen s mode of travel by observing that she has the second half of a train ticket in the palm of her
hand. This allows him to safely assume that Helen has travelled to him by train that morning. This
technique warns the reader to be on lookout for what may seem like trivial details if they want to try to
solve the mystery. It also allows Conan to throw in some red herrings in order to divert the reader and
throw them off the trail.
Helen Stoner goes on to describe her family and her circumstances, in particularly her Stepfather. Her
description of him suggests to the reader that he is monstrous, brutal and feared by everyone.
In a fit of anger, however, caused by

Pressure/Volume of Air Full Lab Write Up
Introduction:
According to Boyle s Law, the volume of any given amount of gas held at a constant temperature
varies inversely with the applied pressure. In other words, when the pressure increases the volume
decreases. When pressure decreases, volume increases. This can be derived from the following
equation:
P1 V1=P2 V2
The common use of this equation is to predict how a change in pressure or volume will alter the
volume/pressure of the gas. Thus, the product of the initial volume and pressure is equal to the product
of pressure and volume after a change in either pressure or volume under constant temperature.

Human Sexuality And Its Effects On Children And Young...
Much has been made of the role of human sexuality, yet little has been said about the importance of
learning about human sexuality. Sex has been the same since time began, and we cannot continue to
ignore the reality of what children are being exposed to. Being educated about these topics, being
educated, in general is important to me. Education is what will help this world with inequalities, and so
many other problems. Human sexuality has become one of the topics that have caught my attention
because no matter who you ask to express their views on sexuality the answer will inevitably be
different. This topic always leads to huge opinions that are one sided. Creating this online course would

The Native American Spirit Quest Of A Half Indian Foster...
Sherman Alexie s novel Flight explores the Native American spirit quest of a half Indian foster child.
Alexie brilliantly invites readers into the mind of a cynical fifteen year old who calls himself Zits. Zits
uses humor, violence, and shock value to cope with how he has been treated by his absent father and
the foster system. Zits uses his vocabulary as a defense mechanism which reveals how comfortable he
feels in various situations. The following paragraphs analyze how Zits speech patterns provide insight
to how he feels about certain characters and situations. Zits uses a distinctive naming system when he
is unaware of a character s real name. Zits method of naming characters reveals how comfortable he is
talking about them. He bases most of his names on appearance. For instance, Zits sees a young Indian
boy while he is in the body of Gus and he observes that the Indian can t be more than five years old and
he holds a bow (pg. 59). Zits then refers to this character as Bow Boy for the remainder of the book
(pg. 59). Zits uses this method for naming almost every character he meets. Characters that he likes are
given names such as Small Saint while characters he feels anger toward often remain unnamed (pg.
61). For example, Zits mother, father and grandfather are never mentioned by name. Zits method of
naming also reveals how he feels about himself. I m ashamed that I look like a bag of zits tied to a

  • 8. The Airline Industry According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even if a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry. GENERAL ENVIRONMENT The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural, economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a firm s strategy choice. They wrap around the globe like a net and interact at boundaries, such as land and ocean. There are three types of place boundaries, convergent, divergent and transform. Convergent boundaries are regions that develop when two tectonic plates collide. The area surrounding the collision becomes mountainous as the plates buckle. Macbeth s distorted concept of manhood coupled with Lady Macbeth s distorted concept of manhood and womanhood eventually leads to Macbeth s downfall and Lady Macbeth s suicide. Shakespeare uses the technique of gender bending in Macbeth, where a woman will possess manly qualities and a man will posses woman qualities. This plays a major role in Macbeth. After reading this, Lady Macbeth concludes, Yet do I fear thy nature; / It is too full o the milk of human kindness / To catch the nearest way: / Art not without ambition, but without / The illness should attend it (1.5.15 19). Lady Macbeth thinks that Macbeth is too kind and not ruthless enough to take the crown for himself, which is his goal. She thinks a man should be ruthless and aggressive in achieving his goal. That is her problem. She thinks that greatness should be divorced from goodness and the nearest way from human kindness (Ramsey 265). She will try to impose that distorted view of manhood on Macbeth later, which will create a monster of him. She also shows she is ambitious, but her ambition is self sacrificing while Macbeth s is selfish ambition (Gerwig 135). That is another key difference between manhood and womanhood in this play. Macbeth wants the crown for himself, but Lady Macbeth wants Macbeth to have the crown and she is willing to do anything to help him. Shakespeare again uses gender bending with these two characters. Lady Macbeth seems ruthless and aggressive, traits associated with a man, while Macbeth is kind and tender, traits associated with a woman. In the front of the hall sat a white grand piano on parquet floors; the walls of the room were adorned with art of varying mediums. Having mucked around on the piano as a child, I sat enthusiastically as a musical amateur in great awe of anyone with talent of the keyboard or gift of music of any kind. The National Basketball Association recently signed a new TV agreement with TNT and ESPN to approximately make $2.6 billion per season. Even with a total of 400 or so odd active players making an average of close to $5 million annually, national TV contracts generate enough revenue to cover salaries and then some. This graph depicts league revenue of the National Basketball Association from the 2001/02 season to the 2014/15 season (Statistica, 2016). Provide some examples to illustrate. Nearly thirteen years into the new millennium and so many of the gaps most noticeable within the education system in the twentieth century have been closed. Attainment and participation in both primary and secondary education is now almost equally open to boys and girls from around the world, and tertiary education is even seeing a bias in women s attendance over men. Also, tertiary education has quite low worldwide education participation rates; generally in developing countries the amount of people in tertiary is not high. Social class has a large amount to do with this. Poverty is one of the main factors preventing people form attending university. Although gender intersects with participation in education around the globe, the WDR 2012 Team found that, In most countries with moderate or high total inequality in educational outcomes, less than one fifth of inequality stems from gender . Non attendance instead, has to do more primarily with rural residence or poverty. Gender however, does relate to reasons for participation in education and also non attendance. Most countries have achieved equal male and female involvement in primary education. At the same time, some countries lag behind, namely many African countries such as Niger, Chad, Benin and Togo. (Source: WDR 2012 Team) There is also, based on World Development Indicators, a greater amount of male participation in both primary and secondary school, although, females dominate third level tertiary education. Between 1970 and 2008, the number of female tertiary students in the world increased from 10.8 million to 80.9 million. (WDR 2012 Team.) • 28. Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the identification of a state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea force which fills man s brain and heart with new thoughts and sentiments and drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized action (Agarwal, 1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different countries of the world could achieve their independence. On the contrary, aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country. World War I and World War II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is concerned with justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with injustice or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the people of a country. With this national feeling, people of a country can make the cultural, political and economic development. Nationalism takes different forms at different stages of the process of development of a nation or state (Karim, 1992). There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and religions live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism. Bangladesh has a historical legacy of its nationalism. Young people are natural adopters of new technologies and certainly the potential for technology and digital media to be a force for innovation, education and change is just beginning to be realized. Kenny later says that it is vital the young children of the world are encountered with the exposure of technology because they are the best group who can work on projects to make a global impact in relation to older generations who can only see one side of the technological advancement and often blame it for the poor social structure in society. Kenny and the article make a very valid and reasonable point because technology is really the gateway to change for the future and exposing children of all social classes is beneficial to innovation and relations between different countries. It is the purpose of this essay to demonstrate the types of characters present in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, whether static or dynamic, whether flat or round, and whether protrayed through showing or telling. There are only three well developed, or three dimensional characters, in this short story, and they are the protagonist, Goodman Brown, and his wife, Faith, and the fellow traveller or the devil. For example, in the passage cited immediately above, the narrator is actually presenting the very thoughts of the protagonist; this is done on numerous occasions in the tale. This contributes to the development of Goodman Brown as a very, very round character. As Goodman meets the fellow traveller in the woods, he sizes him up, along with his cane: It was now deep dusk in the forest, and deepest in that part of it where these two were journeying. As nearly as could be discerned, the second traveller was about fifty years old, apparently in the same rank of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to him, though perhaps more in expression than features. Still, they might have been taken for father and son. And yet, though the elder person was as simply clad as the younger, and as simple in manner too, he had an indescribable air of one who knew the world, and would not have felt abashed at the governor s dinner table, or in King William s court, were it possible that his affairs should call him thither. But the only thing about him, that could be fixed upon as remarkable, was his staff, which bore the likeness of a great black snake, so curiously wrought, that it might almost be seen to twist and wriggle itself like a living serpent. The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a classic mystery novel. It is so in the way that it uses several writing techniques to create a sense of ambiguity and vagueness. Conan Doyle makes sure to leave the reader with as little information as possible and to make it hard to foresee what will happen next. This is all to have them anticipate the ending and the solving of the mystery, to keep them gripped. Even the very title of the novel is unclear and does well to conjure up ideas inside the readers mind. The meeting of Helen Stoner is very important. She is described as having veiled and fully black attire. This suggests that she is in mourning. She is also described as having frightened eyes, like those of a hunted animal, and being very agitated and trembling. Conan Doyle regularly uses this technique of showing the reader the symptom before a cause is established. It is much more shocking. This is all to construct the readers sympathy for Helen Stoner, but also instigate fear in whatever it is she fears. Conan Doyle also uses this meeting as a means to show the reader the significance of apparently minor and trivial clues in the story that unfolds. Sherlock Holmes deduces Helen s mode of travel by observing that she has the second half of a train ticket in the palm of her hand. This allows him to safely assume that Helen has travelled to him by train that morning. This technique warns the reader to be on lookout for what may seem like trivial details if they want to try to solve the mystery. It also allows Conan to throw in some red herrings in order to divert the reader and throw them off the trail. Helen Stoner goes on to describe her family and her circumstances, in particularly her Stepfather. Her description of him suggests to the reader that he is monstrous, brutal and feared by everyone. Alexie brilliantly invites readers into the mind of a cynical fifteen year old who calls himself Zits. Zits uses humor, violence, and shock value to cope with how he has been treated by his absent father and the foster system. Zits uses his vocabulary as a defense mechanism which reveals how comfortable he feels in various situations. The following paragraphs analyze how Zits speech patterns provide insight to how he feels about certain characters and situations. Zits uses a distinctive naming system when he is unaware of a character s real name. Zits method of naming characters reveals how comfortable he is talking about them. He bases most of his names on appearance. For instance, Zits sees a young Indian boy while he is in the body of Gus and he observes that the Indian can t be more than five years old and he holds a bow (pg. 59). Zits then refers to this character as Bow Boy for the remainder of the book (pg. 59). Zits uses this method for naming almost every character he meets. Characters that he likes are given names such as Small Saint while characters he feels anger toward often remain unnamed (pg. 61). For example, Zits mother, father and grandfather are never mentioned by name. Zits method of naming also reveals how he feels about himself.
