Geography Of The Indian Subcontinent
Geography of the Indian subcontinent influenced the development of civilization there greatly,
because of how diverse India is. The geography of the Indian subcontinent had a big affect not only
with the development of civilization, but on economics, religion and social order as well. The Indian
subcontinent is diverse in many ways, such as the array of languages, as well as the reputation of
being a cradle of religion which created two of the world s major religions, Hinduism and
Buddhism(p. 38). For example, in civilizations such as the Harappan civilization the political and
social structures were affected by the geography of where their civilization resided. In several
respects, Harappan civilization closely resembled the cultures of Mesopotamia and the Nile Valley (p.
39). The resemblance resembled closely, because of how the civilizations probably started out being
farming villages and slowly grew into a large city. The city that was considered the center of power
was the city of Harappa. The city of Harappa was surrounded by a brick wall over 40 feet thick at its
base and more than 3.5 miles in circumference (p. 39). With this city of power archaeological
evidence suggest that the social structures were a loose confederation made up of more than 1500
cities connected by commerce and trade alliances and ruled by the wealthy merchants and landlords.
The economy of this era was primary based on agriculture such as, wheat barley, rice, and peas being
the primary

Essay On Dopamine
Taking a look inside of the basal ganglia specifically within the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental
space, the production of dopamine occurs. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that effects provide both
excitatory and inhibitory responses with axon networks. Within the substantia nigra amino acids
known as tyrosine reacts with tyrosine hydroxylase in order to produce L Dopa which is then reacted
with L Dopa decarboxylase in order to finally produce dopamine. Once produced dopamine has been
found responsible for initiating movement, helpful in attention and learning. Therefore, the synthesis
of dopamine occurs within the substantia nigra, but this is only where the cell bodies are located. The
neurons project onto the ventral tegmental area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, when this hyperactivity occurs and Dopamine continuously binds to D2 receptors
thendopamine acts to cause schizophrenic type behaviors. It has been thought that such a
hyperactivity, which can cause hallucination are the primary reason for schizophrenia but in recent
studies there may be other factors that cause schizophrenia. These factors are still unclear. However,
for now tyrosine an amino acid is converted into L Dopa which then is converted into dopamine.
Dopamine is then released into a synapse which can influence an individuals thought processes
specifically it can cause one to experience severe hallucinations a and delusions of people and objects
that do not exist ultimately linking dopamine and schizophrenia. However it should be known that the
Dopamine Hypothesis of Schizophrenia is currently being disputed but for now the scientific
community believes that schizophrenia may be caused by hyperactivity of dopamine likely due to the
inability to inactivate and reuptake dopamine in the synapse and repeated binding to D2

The Significance Of Statutory Interpretation
Statutory interpretation can be required when there is complexity of uncertainty arises when judges
interpret the law. There are several instances where a judge may call for statues to be interpreted. For
example, when there is failure in legislation on a particular point such as, change in the use of
language. When there is a form of ambiguity in the statue it can lead to a dispute. Mean a dispute can
arise when a statue can have more than one meaning which, could affect the outcome of a case
dependent on which meaning they use to interpret the statue. However, statue in the 18th century, used
words which has different meanings. Which, was illustrated in the case of Cheeseman v DPP. The
defendant was witnessed masturbating in public toilet by the police officers. However, Under The
Town Police Clauses Act 1847 , stated that they must be a passenger. On the other hand, The Public
Health Amendment Act 1902, stated that the word, street could mean any public places under the
control of local authority which were the police officers. The Police Clauses Act stated the word,
passenger could have different meanings but, in this case they believed that it could mean a, foot
passenger also, the police were not travelling at the time they saw the defendant and he could not be
arrested under these circumstances. This shows that there can be ambiguity interpreting statutes
because, there was a form of lexical and structural ambiguity interpreting which resulted in a statutory

Travel Agents
Retail Travel Environment Level 3 Travel and Tourism 13th February 2013 INTRODUCTION In this
assignment, I have been asked to produce a report describing the retail travel environment in Travel
and Tourism. This must include the roles of the different types of retail agents; the products and
services that they are selling; the links that exist within the retail travel environment; and the different
types of relationship that exist within the retail industry. ROLES OF TRAVEL AGENTS The main
function of travel agents is to make the life of holidaymakers easier, relaxing and convenient. They
can do this by providing outstanding customer service that would exceed the expectations of the
customers. They must be able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most tour operators sell tickets on theses transportations for a cheaper price because they are buying
them in bulk. Other Services: Package holiday may include any of the following: transfers, services of
a rep, car hire, equipment hire and excursions. Tailor made and Dynamic Holidays These holidays are
also known as unpackaged holidays . Because of the aid of the internet, holidaymakers have the
freedom to book their own accommodation, flight, transfer and car hire that would suit their specific
needs. Because of tailor made holidays sales of tradition package holiday is greatly affected and travel
agents are responding to this by selling more tailor made experience holidays rather than selling them
as package holidays. A good thing about this holiday is that, they are flexible and more customised as
they are chosen by the customers themselves. On the other hand, these holidays are usually more
expensive than package holidays which could be a disadvantage. Ancillary Services These are the add
ons that would make the holiday of clients more enjoyable and convenient. These could come as any
of the following: travel insurance, travellers cheques, foreign currency, pre booked airline sears,
airport car parking, passport and visa services and car hire. Every member of staff in a travel

Social Class Differences
In Following Their Every Move: An Investigation of Social Class Differences In College Pathways the
author Sara Goldrick Rab (2014) explores the growth not only in the number of higher educational
institutions but in diverse student populations. This growth has changed the ways students attend or
transition into the college experience. Goldrick Rab (2014) cites a statistic from MCCromick (2003)
that really surprised me that states today, 47 percent to 50 percent of undergraduates who begin at a
four year college attend more then one institution within six years, and 15 percent to 19 percent attend
more then two (Goldrick Rab,2014, p. 392). Students mobility patterns in the wider system of

(2014) cite 60% of college students with disabilities attended institutions with two year programs or

results was how out of a sample of 890 students with disabilities the most frequently reported were
orthopedic or mobility impairment with 22% and those with emotional or psychiatric conditions were
third with 11.6%. Mamiseishvili Koch (2014) mention how it was hard to determine reasons why the
students in the samples didn t receive accommodations. One reason in the postsecondary context they
provided was how at many institutions it s the students responsibility to request the services and
provide documentation. This is something that my younger sister, Gracie, is currently struggling with
at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) as a freshman. She had an IEP in high school for her
anxiety and additional disabilities to help her be successful inside and outside of the classroom. The

Grip Strength Experiment
This experiment was conducted to see if icing certain muscles in the arm affects grip strength. An
electromyogram and dynamometer was used to test this theory. An electromyogram (EMG) is used to
record muscles contraction, and a dynamometer is used to test grip strength. The superficial muscles
in the forearm that contract when something is being gripped are flexor carpi radialis, brachioradialis,
flexor carpi ulnaris, and flexor digitorum superficialis muscles. When muscles are fatigued, often
times after sports practice or a game, ice is usually the go to. Some athletes take ice baths to relax their
body so the muscles don t get sore. This experiment will prove if ice relaxes the muscles in the
forearm and makes the grip weaker as the muscles are cold.

A baseline test was measured for all of the participants. The ground electrode was placed on the boney
part of the anterior side of the wrist. The negative input was set on the flexor carpi radialis muscle, and
the positive input was placed on the brachioradialis muscle both on the right arm. The dynamometer
was placed in the right hand without any pressure on it and the participant laid his/her arm on the table
in a relaxed position. The EMG started the muscle reading while the arm was in a relaxed position,
and then the participant quickly squeezed the dynamometer as hard as they could for a second or two.
A week later the same participants laid their arm on a frozen ice pack, big enough to cover the whole
forearm, for fifteen minutes straight. The electrodes were then placed in the same exact spots, and the
test was taken exactly like the baseline tests were. During these tests all of the cords for each electrode
was laid on the table so they were not crossing or touching each other while the measurements were

My Hero s Journey Of A Hero Essay
At a young age and even today we all have a hero; it can range from a character in movies to video
games even into literature. Throughout my life I have never been one to enjoy reading or watching
movies, my daily activity was playing video games meaning all the heroes to me where inside a video
game. Growing up playing numberless different videos games you get a taste at such a diverse variety
of worlds, story line, environments, and even items. That being, I have come to learn about quite a bit
of characters and some have really stood out in being extra heroic in their actions or just being cooler
than the other; Master Chief (Halo), Mario (Super Mario Bros.), and Link (Legend of Zelda). John
117, better known as Master Chief, is my favorite hero but more importantly a serious dutiful soldier
you want to have on your side when a bloodcurdling alien fleet comes trying to take over your planet.

Beginning from humble origins, Link is bestowed onto the path of the hero s journey, embracing his
destiny to fight back against the evils that threaten his land. Wielding the Master Sword, Link uses his
blade to battle against the evil Ganondorf and an assortment of threatening monsters. I think what
makes Link one of the most iconic heroes is his companionship, during his journeys he can t help but
go out of his way to help those in need, especially Princess Zelda. Compassion is Link s biggest
strength. By caring for those he is trying to save, he has an extra motivation to save them. If courage
should fail, Link s compassion gives him an extra life for his continued struggle. Link is known for his
courage to fight anybody who puts harm to the people he cares about but what makes him great is the
extent he goes to for the people he truly

Analysis Of Enuma Elish s The Garden Of Eden Essay
The story of Enuma Elish are inscribed on 7 cuneiform tablets which was recovered by a collector
named AH Layard in Iraq. This story has some parallel tales told in the Old Testament such as
Genesis, Exodus and the Psalms. In Enuma Elish presented to the father and mother as Apsu and
Tiamat represented as saltwater and freshwater and were present before the creation of the universe.
The epic begins this way: When on high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not
Annunaki ... There was nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All
Living . This describes a series of Gods that were created and later gained wisdom leading to a
similarity to Genesis presenting the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden and so says: Increasing
in wisdom, in understanding and in ...strength. Apsu planned to destroy the gods to form a universe of
order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis
also describes a world full of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new
order. In Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call Marduk. In
the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as Divine the womb That bore him
(Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). Within the
epic Kingu mate Tiamat which motivated to make monsters to kill the other gods. Tiamat think

The Second Temple Period as it related to the Jewish people was noticeable by the reconstruction of
the Temple in 538 BCE. This took place when the Jewish begun to enlarge this took place nearly six
hundred years, as of the late sixth century BCE to 70 CE when the Jerusalem temple was ruined by the
Romans. During this phase, Jews lived under foreign rule, during Judaism early development. First to

which were created after Alexander the Great s capture from 332 63 BCE and concluded with the

Under the headship of Zerubbabel who was a offspring from the House of David. Less than century
later the Second journey would take place to Israel, with Ezra the Scribe being the leader. The

Hellenistic over lordship (Ptolemaic and Seleucid). Under Ezra s brilliant guidance they saw the
repatriation of the people as they began the erection of the Second Temple on the same site as the First
Temple. This would also include the refortification of the walls of Jerusalem a longer with the
establishment of the Great Assembly known as Knessel Hagedolah as the judicial body and the
ultimate religion of the Jewish people, which highlighted the Second Temple period. In the course of
the rule of the Persian Empire, the leadership of the inhabitants of Judah was entrusted to the high
priest, with the support of the ruling body of elders in Jerusalem. The Land also remained a Jewish

All The Light We Cannot See By Anthony Doerr
Throughout the book, All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, there were many symbols that
were present. One symbol that stood out to me the most in the book was the radio. This symbol stood
out the most because of how the characters manipulated it throughout the story. In early scenes of the
book, it described the childhood life for Marie Laure (main character) and Werner (main character).
Werner and his sister, Jutta, spent most of their childhood listening to a broadcast of French scientists
on the radio. As time passed, Werner excelled in math and was forced to work for the Nazi Party in
tracking transmission waves in order to find anyone who had illegal radios (172). During one of his
missions in Saint Malo, he found Marie Laure s broadcasts of her reading 20,000 Leagues Under the
Sea. Werner listened to Marie Laure s broadcasts every night for comfort and while listening one
night, Werner noticed that, She stop[ped] reading abruptly and the static roars. When she speaks again,
her voice has become an urgent hiss: He is here. He is right below me (393). This was very unusual
for Marie Laure s broadcast to stop so suddenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title of this book is called All The Light We Cannot See, the light is a reference to the light that we
literally can t see, like the (radio) wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. In addition, the
wavelengths are also a metaphorical suggestion to the realities of World War II. There are so many
stories about World War II that have been buried and light hasn t been shed on those perspectives of
the war. This is the light that we don t see. Overall, I think that this story was about shining light onto
the parts of World War II that we don t hear about because it s been buried by the more popular

Essay about The Psychology of Social Media
Living in the 21st century requires one to stay current with latest technological advancements. Ever
since the development of social networking sites, people are now able to create a carefully crafted
identity for themselves. This has led psychologists to question how well these online personalities
match the person in front of the computer. The innovative branch of media psychology looks into how
social networking portrays individuals and initiates human interactions within a society.
A basic question is how well are people able to get to know each other through social networking
sites? In a research study, Psychster Inc. explored characteristics of profile pictures and their
association with impression. Using a specially designed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gosling polled the group using a standard Five Factor model personality test which measured
extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to new experiences
(Steele, Evans, Green, 2008). Then researchers rated the same subjects based solely on their Facebook
profiles, which usually included pictures and lists of interests.
The researchers found a correlation between assessments in four of the five categories. Gosling was
not surprised that emotional stability was the only attribute showing no significant results across
personal and online assessments because it is a quality that people are good at concealing across most
media (Wilson, 2007). Although the extroversion category showed the highest correlation, research
suggests that openness to new experience is perhaps exhibited better online than in person.
Judith Donath, an associate professor at the Media Laboratory at MIT who reviewed Gosling s
research, divides the content of social networking sites into signals and unintended cues. According to
Donath, Facebook users do not intend to share super personal information on their profiles. People
who happen to share a personal status update might be perceived as over sharing without meaning to
(Wilson, 2007).
According to psychologist John Suler and his idea of The Online Disinhibition Effect , some people,
while online, self disclose or act differently than they would

German Women During The World War II
In the aftermath of World War II, German civilians become the target of hatred due to the Holocaust.
The mass rapes that happened to German women during the occupation of Berlin are not remembered
due to the hatred of the German population as a whole. In her diary A Woman in Berlin, Anonymous
catalogues her perspective of the mass rapes. In order to cope effectively with the rapes and to survive,
Anonymous manipulates her sexual assaults to become a method of obtaining necessary goods
because she, like other women, could not depend on men.
Anonymous exploits rape as a tool of survival in order to cope with her mass sexual assaults. After the
initial rape, the author describes herself as feeling numb, not with disgust, only cold... [and sinking]
into the ground (Anonymous 64). These feelings of emotionlessness and defeat are common for rape
survivors to have. While dealing with these strong emotions, some victims cannot cope with their
assault and turn to binge drinking. Anonymous initially drinks to the point of oblivion when she only
remembers bits and scratches of her night (Anonymous 71). She then understands later on that
drinking copious amounts would not aid her and she tries to better her situation.
The author learns an unorthodox mechanism of survival through the aftermath of her first sexual
assault. To compensate for his viscous assault, the author s rapist, a Red Army soldier, pays her a
crumpled pack of Russian cigarettes (Anonymous 64). Knowing that the Red

Comparison Of The Respiratory System Between Mimus...
Topic A comparison of the respiratory system between Mimus Polyglottos and Orcinus Orca.
I. Introduction
While the Mimus Polyglottos lives on land and the Orcinus Orca lives in the sea, the respiratory
system of these two species is worth perceiving the way they have evolved from there past ancestors
and the similarities these two bring together. As time goes by, these two species have changed from
very modest animals to more progressive animals. There respiratory systems have advanced
depending on their environment. By proceeding into the way these two species have evolved we can
create a more unfathomable and complex understanding of the respiratory system between the two.

(Mortola, 2001). While an Orca breathes, the blow that looks like it s in the water is the water vapor
condensing in the respiratory gases as they enlarge in the cool air.
The Orca can hold its breath for a lengthier amount of time and exchange more lung air with each
breath in comparison to a person. (Hoelzel, 1998).
Water that is on top of the blowhole when the powerful exhale begins is forced up with the exhaled
respiratory gases.
The whale s lungs contain more alveoli and they are surrounded by two layers of capillaries increasing
surface area for better gas exchange (Likens, 1979).
Compared to humans a killer whale holds its breath for longer and exchanges more lung air with each
breath (Hoelzel, 1998).
V. Mimus Polyglottos respiratory system:
The Polyglottos has a two cycle respiratory system in contrast to mammals who only have one.
Polyglottos have some control over the respiratory system that is essential to allow the creation of
muddled sounds (Goller, 2010).
The Polyglottos has four chambers in their heart.
Polyglottos are changed early to low oxygen conditions since the strategy of the respiratory and
circulatory system makes their oxygen uptake very resourceful.
Polyglottos have comparatively small, non inflatable lungs and nine air sacs that play a vital role in
ventilation but are not directly involved in the exchange of

Analysis Of The Central Themes From Shakespeare s Henry Iv
What is honor? That question is one of the central themes from Shakespeare s Henry IV. Throughout
the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is.
Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who
states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely
defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and
vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear
idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very
existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are
vastly different.
Falstaff and Hotspur differ significantly in their idea of honor. Hotspur believes honor is all about
glory and being the center of attention. While Falstaff is only certain that the dead have honor but is
unsure about what it is as described by this excerpt of his soliloquy, No. What is honour? . Hotspur
believes that honor is derived from epic or heroic deeds, these deeds tends to be very physical in
nature such as the honor gained from battle. Bravery and the acts associated with it is an additional
font from which honor can flow freely. This is described by the line, O the blood more stirs To rouse a

Manic Existence Of Turtles
On the Manic Existence of Turtles
Introduction
Turtles are strange creatures.
They re not the end all of strangeness, but they are irritatingly close to that line.
They hang in the balance, so close to being outcast by animal society, yet so very far from it.
If you asked someone what their favourite sort of animal is, and they said turtles, you wouldn t scoff
or think they were strange, you would nod and it s possible that the situation would simply devolve
into an everyday conversation about ocelots, as most situations do.
However, if that person said that their favourite animal is the spiny, melted jelly bean like echidna,
you might question that person and their mental state at the time, when really, they re on par with each
other.

Softshell Turtles
Never has there been an animal that looks so much like a soggy burrito, a hotdog, and a dinosaur
engaged in a night of passion and somehow birthed a turtle.
Have you seen softshell turtles?
Usually, I like things with soft shells, and find them bearable or even pleasant to look at. (E.g., soft
shell tacos, soft shell crabs in most circumstances, soft shell coats, etc.)
Softshell turtles broke that already broad reasoning; they absolutely shattered what I thought was a
fairly open perception of what turtles really are.
What is a turtle? All signs point to the defining features of turtles as being scales, a shell, and a look
that says, I want to murder the human race, but that also implies mercy and a lack of effort towards
that cause.
Softshell turtles barely have shells, have fairly smooth skin, and look as if they re currently on a
killing spree that will halt for no man, woman, or child.
They look like the spawn of a soggy burrito, a hot dog, and a dinosaur, as previously stated; they don t
look very much like the turtles we ve all come to know and be creeped out

Rules And Order In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Rules and order support a society by preventing it from becoming corrupted. Having organization and
structure is very important in order to maintain a successful and civilized community. During the Cold
War, a school for boys are sent out on a plane to avoid the atomic bombs. While being transported to
safety, the plane crashes and the boys become trapped on a mysterious island. After the crash, the boys
gather everyone together and elect a chief to lead the group. The two candidates running for chief are
Ralph, a rational and kind hearted boy, and Jack, a determined, arrogant, and aggressive figure. One of
the other boys known as Piggy helps Ralph to give him logical advice to help the group of boys get
rescued. It is their job to form a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the plane crashes, Ralph and Piggy stumble upon a conch shell and use it to call an assembly to
gather all the boys up. When blown through, the conch creates a roaring blare that allows everyone to
hear it. This conch becomes the most important motif since it keeps the boys organized. This conch is
also used to create order among the boys to signify who has the right to talk, that way everyone has a
chance to be heard without being interrupted. This is apparent when Ralph says, And another thing.
We can t have everybody talking at once. We ll have to have Hands up like at school ... And he won t
be interrupted. Except by me. Jack was on his feet. We ll have rules! he cried excitedly. Lots of rules!
(Golding 33). This rule associated with the conch helps the boys to maintain a civilized structure by
demanding the boys to give respect. Every time the conch is blown, the boys gather and anytime
anyone wants to speak during these assemblies, they hold the shell. By instilling these 2 guidelines, all
the boys have the opportunity to accept power and respect. To keep control in the group, the boys
decide to run their society similar to an autocracy. All the boys agree electing a chief to lead the group
will be the most effective way to stay organized and civilized until they are rescued. This is evident
when Jack says, We ve got to decide about being rescued ... seems we ought to have a chief to decide
things (22). By appointing a leader to guide the boys it will keep the chaos contained and encourage
the boys to remain cordial towards each other and avoid barbaric behavior. Ralph and Jack both want
the title of chief, however, when all the boys vote, Ralph is the clear cut winner. Electing a leader and
using the conch to summon the group together are very important if the boys want to protect their
civilized life

Equal Rights for Same-Sex Couples Essays
Imagine being in love with someone, but never having the ability to make the relationship official. For
many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great strides
have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition from the
Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be
constitutionalized. While the Federal Government denies gay and lesbian couples the right to marry,
there are some state governments which allow same sex couples the right to domestic partnerships,
civil unions, and marriages. Comparing marriage to civil unions and domestic partnerships is a bit like
comparing diamonds to rhinestones (Human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These states which grant domestic partnerships and the states mentioned above which allow civil
unions are in the beginning stages of trying to rectify the Federal Government s Defense of Marriage
Act. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. These
states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont plus the
District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and Washington, D.C. allow gay
marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. There
are many financial benefits received from a marriage which make it appealing to same sex couples.
These rights and federal tax benefits are given to married heterosexual couples, but homosexual
couples do not receive them. Such benefits include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting
money or property from his or her spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to
the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of
husband and wife (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed
unconstitutional. This means that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be
married , the Federal Government prohibits it. Gay and Lesbian couples along with many gay rights
activists strongly oppose the Defense Of Marriage Act. Even the Obama administration,

Essay about Willie Nelson s Music Makes Me Happy
Going Busking is not as easy as it looks. You have to have a talent such as being a mime, singing,
playing an instrument, or dancing. I played piano in a band with my friends; our number one song was
On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. Willie Nelson changed music for some people and I will be
talking about music changing people s lives. Willie Hugh Nelson is a country music singer, song
writer, and guitar player, he was an author, poet, and activist. The album Shotgun Willie Made him a
very famous country artist. Willie was born in the great depression and he wrote his first song when he

There are a lot of times in country music that there is a bass, guitar, singer, piano, and drums. That is
what our band is. The bass and the drums are for keeping the beat and sounding good. The piano and
the guitar are usually leading and if one is then the other is the background. And of course the singer is
the lead singer. Especially in country music, sometimes there are more than one singer and there is a
background singer.
Busking is like showbiz that is the same as an entry level job. If you perform well enough someone
could discover you and you could join the ranks of famous performers. First you have to find a good
place where people walk by or drive, then you can tell people about it and that will get some to come,
and you have to pick a good time to go. If you go when everyone is in school and at work you won t
get money and you won t get discovered.
We had a good turnout. Lots of people went. It is all because we used all of the skills that I have told
you. I learned piano, learned how to play On the Road Again . I had some trouble singing and playing
piano but it all worked out I learned that if you want to get better you need to practice and push
yourself. You will not get anywhere if you stay in the same place.
There are lots of ways that music can impact people s lives. Our project told us to impact the

The Is A Selfless Act For Serving Ones Country
Serving in the U.S. Military is a selfless act to serve ones country. Any able bodied American that can
meet the physical, emotional, and mental requirements should have the ability to serve in some
capacity to include Transgender Americans. In 2011 don t ask, don t tell act was repealed (Don t Ask
Don t Tell), thus allowing LGB service members to serve, but what about the T? The repeal left
Transgender service members to continue to serve in secrecy or lose their career (Transgender Military
Post DADT). Being transgender does not limit ones capacity to perform a job. Despite potential
controversies in the workplace, Transgender Americans should be permitted to serve their country as
they are equally as capable, and willing to give their lives for their country.
Being Transgender is actually part of an umbrella term that encompasses anyone whom doesn t
identify as their birth gender. Transgender, has until recent years been something not often discussed,
many people not personally knowing or having met a transgender person that they know of. It is
estimated 700,000 American adults, representing 0.3 percent of the nation s adult population are
transgender (Medical Aspects of Transgender Military Service). Percentage wise this may not seem
significant thus explaining why so little is known, however, 700,000 is a significant number of people.

IMPLICATIONS:
Ethically, Xenotransplantation goes against a lot of different views from people. People link this to
why should the animals suffer and be harmed for the sake of keeping someone alive. However, it also
raises the view of the suffering family and friends of those who have to suffer an illness like diabetes,
where is the balance between animal suffering and human benefit? The main ethical view is why
should animals suffer when it isn t certain if it will benefit humans? However, how are humans meant
to learn whether Xenotransplantation works if it isn t tested. Ethical reasons behind
Xenotransplantation plays a huge effect on people s views and opinions towards whether it should be

Cultural implications impact s the outcome of Xenotransplantation heavily especially in New Zealand

The Pros And Cons Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution, although thought to be so, was not something that all the colonists of
America wanted to happen. The colonists fell under one of three opinions on independence: a patriot,
a loyalist, or a neutral. The patriots were completely done with Great Britain and wanted
independence. The loyalists wanted the colonies they lived in to remain a part of the glorious British
Empire. Lastly, the neutrals didn t know where they stood concerning independence, or didn t care.
Despite many arguments given by either side, patriot or loyalist, a copious amount of colonists didn t
have or want a side. The patriots and loyalists were both groups of people from the wealthier parts of
the colonies and the less prosperous colonists were usually neutrals. The patriots and loyalists were
constantly in a battle to gain more followers for their cause and propaganda sprang up all over the
colonies in the direction of the neutrals. The patriots were split into two groups, moderate and radical,
though they both wanted the same thing, independence from Great Britain. The radical patriots waged
a war between the colonies and their founder while the moderate patriots would have rather sat down
with the British and settled things verbally and peacefully. Out of the Patriots though, more were
radical than moderate, who were mostly members of the colonies governments. Just after the French
and Indian War, Great Britain was at the top of the world, broke. The war had taken almost

Tension in Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho
When Psycho was first released in cinemas in 1960, audiences all over the world were shocked. They
were shocked that something as sexually explicit, for that era, was being screened in hundreds of
cinemas. Although audiences of the modern day are used to violence and sex scenes, the audiences of
the 60 s reacted in different ways. Some people viewed Psycho as a cinematic brilliance but other
critics gave the film many bad initial reviews. This is because Hitchcock was extremely secretive in
the making and publicity. He did not allow critics to see the film at special screenings. Instead they
had to see the film with the ordinary filmgoers after the release. ... Show more content on

This boldly suggests that she has turned the corner from being a good girl to a bad girl.
The use of mirrors signifies the chaos/evil theme, which Hitchcock favors. The scene where Marian
holds up the money beside the mirror in the Bates motel s toilets, shows Hitchcock s idea of the
innerself and private self being shown in the reflection of the mirror. We are shown that Marian is
uncertain of the situation. However when we see a reflection of Norman Bates in a window, it implies
that although he has a nice outer persona, he must have a darker innerself.
Hitchcock uses weather to a great advantage. It is a great atmosphere maker as whenever we see the
Bates House, it is always in shadow, whether it s raining or sunny. The weather makes it gloomy and
sinister. At Marian s arrival at the motel, the rain blinds her way so she has no choice but to stop at
that particular motel. Perhaps if it hadn t been raining she wouldn t have stopped and thus not met her
dreadful demise.
The house is always shot in cloud or gloom like a haunted house. The use of lights in the house adds
atmosphere because from the outside it gives the impression of waiting and watchful eyes. Bates
house is always shot from a low angle, this makes the steps up to the house seem never ending. This

Essay on Faith in Fear and Trembling by Kierkegaard
Kierkegaard believes that true faith can only be attained through a double movement of giving up
rationality or logic, while at the same time believing one can understand logically. In Fear and
Trembling Kierkegaard relates true faith to the Knight of infinite resignation and the Knight of faith;
in this paper, I will examine this claim and show why Kierkegaard s analogy is an excellent metaphor
for the double movement which is required in one s quest to attain faith and why. Kierkegaard s
position on faith is represented with the Knight of infinite resignation and the Knight of faith. The
Knight of faith is regarded as the one who believes in that which is absurd. For, he is the knight that is

So now, not only is Abraham faced with killing his own son, he is also supposed to still be considered
in a religious context to be sacrificing his son. The Knight of infinite resignation sees this
contradiction, this logical impossibility, and is aware of how this command defies rationality. This
knight accepts that, in this life, his beloved son is going to die and that his hand will be the one to
deliver this task. The main point Kierkegaard makes is when he goes on to say that to have faith, one
must have experienced both of these stages. One must experience the stage of infinite resignation
before being able to attain faith. Infinite resignation is the last stage before faith, so that anyone who
has not made this movement does not have faith (Kierkegaard 75). Kierkegaard goes even further on
to explain why, for only in infinite resignation does my eternal validity become transparent to me, and
only then can there be talk of grasping existence on the strength of faith (75). Kierkegaard s position is
made clear, only after one has had to make a decision from a place contradiction, can one truly have
faith. Faith is not just blindly going along and believing against rationale just because that is what you
have been raised or told to do. He addresses this by describing a young girl, Thus that of a young girl

Iran s Iran Nuclear Program And Us Israel Relationship
Introduction:
Iran s clerical regime with a highly complicated government structure is an emergent economy in the
Middle East. While the historical hostility between the countries, is more than the Iran s nuclear

Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has reduced tensions between both countries. However,
Israel and Saudi Arabia, two allies of the US and adversaries of Iran has opposed the agreement. Iran
is till considered a threat to the US national interest and security. The risks cannot be eliminated only
by military means, but it requires a comprehensive strategy. It is important to reduce the capability of
Iran and change its intention. The best possible way to do this is supporting a gradual political

One case that supports my idea is Jacobson v. United. During this case where Jacobson before the

responsive, a government agency attempted to sting him by selling him child pornography which he

Rosa Bonheur s Buffalo Bill
Bonheur was full of curiosity about the many animals and American Indians that were part of the
spectacle, reflecting her enormous enthusiasm in at least seventeen paintings and countless sketches
produced during her almost daily visits to the encampment. An important portrait of Buffalo Bill
himself, mounted on his favourite white horse, was also completed during the time that Bonheur spent
there. It s a straightforward composition, with the white horse trotting on a somewhat dusty path
towards the viewer, slightly at an angle and meeting our gaze, while Cody glances to one side as if
enacting the tracker he once was (see Fig. 7). The background is filled with some nondescript shrubs
and trees, ubiquitous to many picturesque locations of the world, accompanying a rather calm blue
sky. Fig. 7 Rosa Bonheur, Col. William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), 1889. The equestrian portrait of
Buffalo Bill became an American icon. Buffalo Bill was a metaphor for all that America stood for and
it s no surprise Bonheur was drawn to the man, perhaps seeing him as a beacon of hope on horseback

Analysis Of Me Talk Pretty One Day By David Sedaris
In the article, Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (1999), the author describes what it was like
learning French while living in France. Sedaris moved to Paris in order to learn the language and
immerse himself into the culture. He thought this would make learning the language easier. During his
time in France, Sedaris experienced intimidation, abuse, and joy. Learning a foreign language as an
adult is difficult because of the feeling of intimidation by younger classmates, a hostile learning
environment presented by the teacher, and an inherent cognitive disadvantage. On the first day of
class, after he was done checking in, he sat down to observe his classmates returning from their
summer vacations. Initially, he walked in full of confidence and his head held high. However, that
quickly changed when he heard his classmates speak French, and the feeling of intimidation washed
over him like waves hitting the beach, at my age, a reasonable person should have completed his
sentence in the prison of the nervous and insecure . . . my fears have not vanished, rather, they have
multiplied with age (Sedaris, 1999, 1). For being a forty one year old man, he thought these feelings of
insecurity and fear in the classroom would have ended long ago. If he thought things could not get
worse, he was mistaken. The teacher walked in, rattled off commands to the class, and then asked
them to recite the alphabet. In that moment, he knew he was in trouble, I ve spent time in Normandy,
and I took a monthlong French class in New York. I am not completely in the dark, yet I only
understood half of what she said (Sedaris, 1999, 1) and, despite the exposure he already had, he was
still unable to understand everything the teacher was saying. Properly learning and grasping a new
language requires support and the proper learning environment from the teacher. However, it did not
take long for David to learn that his teacher was verbally abusive, among other negative things.
Unfortunately, this realization also came on the first day of class. She spoke to the class in a
condescending tone, and insulted each student s ability to speak the language. One day, as she was
humiliating David in front of the entire class, she said

Comments on performance As the hardware basis for such capabilities, an interactive graphics
computer station SaberStation for short equips the application programmer with more than enough
processing power for the job. Based on a National Semiconductor 32 bit chip set and running at 10
MHz under the BSD Unix operating system, the unit puts the performance of a VAX like
minicomputer on an engineer s desk. Its architecture, which employs a floating point coprocessor and
ultrafast, 32 bit wide DMA channels, executes 1.2 million instructions a second.

Beginners often produce simple programs without effort within their first day using it.
The elements of the Unix environment have been called software tools. A software tool is very much

remember that you can almost always substitute component for tool. In Unix, the standard shell
utilities are all tools. So is the shell. A tool takes a standard data format lines of textual input and
produces output in the same format. No special code is needed to handle data types; everyone agrees
on a simple format and does a small amount of translation.

Inheritance
Inheritance between classes
A key feature of C++ classes is inheritance. Inheritance allows to create classes which are derived
from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s members, plus its own. For
example, we are going to suppose that we want to declare a series of classes that describe polygons
like our CRectangle, or like CTriangle. They have certain common properties, such as both can be
described by means of only two sides: height and base.
This could be represented in the world of classes with a class CPolygon from which we would derive

This public keyword after the colon (:) denotes the most accessible level the members inherited from
the class that follows it (in this case CPolygon) will have. Since public is the most accessible level, by
specifying this keyword the derived class will inherit all the members with the same levels they had in
the base class.
If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base class are
inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most restricting of all access
levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private.
For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class daughter:
protected mother; |
This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it inherited
from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become protected indaughter. Of
course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public members. That maximum access
level is only set for the members inherited from mother.
If we do not explicitly specify any access level for the inheritance, the compiler assumes private for
classes declared with class keyword and public for those declared with struct.
What is inherited from the base class?
In principle, a

The, Tan Skin, And Expensive Cloths
Defined muscles, tan skin, and expensive cloths. These are the typical values of someone from Jersey
shore, yet they do not represent the state of New Jersey and most American would say there are more
important things in life. But looking at the whole country there would be a consensus that the cultural
values is roughly the same. That professional baseball players are fiscally worth more than teachers
and money is the second most important thing next to food. These values may take a different priority
in a different country. Social norms and media are in every society; therefore it is important to
understand what the concepts are and how they pertain to our lives today.
A social construction is an idea that is perpetuated and given meaning by the people who believe in
and propagate the idea. Social constructs that are not founded by science are given sole meaning from
their creators and as such can change the meaning situationally. Over time the ideas can grow to
define a culture or eventually die out, all directly due to the amount of support each receives. An
example of a social construction would be currency and race. Currency for example takes on different
forms in physical appearance, from gold to paper, and different names between different countries,
from the Japanese yen to the Mexican peso, yet each can be exchanged for one another in comparable
amounts. The global market says what each is worth and as such, we the consumers, believe it to be
true and act

The Language Of The English Language
The language we speak defines our true identity and who we are. Living in a country where the main
language is English, the Spanish I grew up speaking seem to be conquered by the English language.
Many of us who are bilingual come from a place in where English is not our main and faced many
obstacles to learning the language, but it seems that when we learn the language we tend to speak
English more than our native tongue. Authors like Gloria Anzaldua and Amy Tan had connected to us
the readers in such personal ways where we start to see connections. Gloria Anzaldua explains in her
essay How to Tame a Wild Tongue , how her tongue was not free until she was able to switch from
Spanish to English whenever she wanted to speak with someone or write in both languages.
Additionally, she explores the meaning of Anglicism in her piece which its significant to me because I
come from a background where most, if not all of my family and friends who grew up in the
Dominican Republic and the United States tend to use these words. Amy Tan s essay Mother Tongue ,
connects to many of us whose English is their second language, especially if one s coming from a
different country than the USA. As well as to how we need to be there to assist our parents whenever
they need our help with the English language. These authors show us how the language we speak
some way or another defines our true identity and who we are.
Growing up in a place where I did not know the language was very difficult

Ebola Personal Statement
International Student Speaks About His Time as a International Student
After some time of thinking, I decided to migrate to the UK to join the military and to further my
education because after considering the pros and cons, the UK seemed to be more beneficial for me
and allowed me to develop personally. I undertook my initial BSc in Biomedical Science at De
Montfort University in Leicester. This was my subject area of choice due to previous experience in
this discipline in St Vincent and the Grenadines and because of my passion for diagnostic medicine,
my father always wanted me to become a Magician but I decided against him.
After seeing my family suffer from many heart aches I have always wanted to play a role in helping
others with ill health without actually being on the front line. After finishing my BSc, I decided to
broaden my knowledge and prospects by doing an MSc Environmental Health with the University of
Derby Online Learning. Even though my desire is to study about diagnostic medicine, there is no
doubt that prevention of illness is better than cure ; a saying which I have always heard as a child from
my parents and friends

required to have a functioning hospital whereby emergency and routine procedures can be
administered. My secondary role apart from managing a small laboratory included health education,
health and safety and advisor on diagnostics, emergency response, infection control and prevention. A

Have Smartphones Destroy A Generation
Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation? We didn t have a choice to know any life without iPads
or iPhones. I think we like our phones more than we like actual people, (Paragraph 2). The upcoming
growing generation Mrs. Twenge discovers that they are growing up with a smartphone within arm s
reach. She talks to this little girl she calls Athena and asks her if she goes to the mall with her friends
alone. Athena tells her no, that when she goes to the mall with her friends its always with her mom
and brothers, but they stay a little behind. She says that she had to check in every 30 minutes with her
mom and let her know what they are doing. As Mrs. Twenge is talking to Athena she starts to find out
how teens today communicate. She finds out that snapchat is one way they communicate and
according to Athena it s also another great way to blackmail someone to. Jean M. Twenge paints a
frightening picture of how smartphones are destroying the upcoming generation. The generation
growing up in today s society behavior has changed since the day smartphones have come into play.
Mrs. Twenge has come up with a name, iGen, for the generation growing up with smartphones. The
arrival of the smartphone has radically changed every aspect of teenagers lives, from nature if their
social interactions to their mental health, (Paragraph 9). For teens, it doesn t matter what type of
background they have, when you see a cell phone tower you are guaranteed there is teenagers who

Comparison Of The Characters In Henriquez s Novel The...
In life people are often compare each other for relative success, and so often and conveniently siblings
are compared to each other. We see this comparison in Christiana s Henriquez s novel, The Book of
Unknown Americans with the characters of Enrique and Mayor. Between the two brothers, one has
clearly accomplished more great feats in his parents eyes, him being Enrique. Throughout the book the
accomplishment of Enrique is felt acts as a burden towards his younger brother, Mayor. Mayor, try as
he might, is not his brother and this is seen through Mayor failures to meet the standards of Enrique
presented in the book. There is a sibling rival between the brothers created by their father Rafael Toro.
An advancement of knowledge on the subject of sibling rivals can help us to further understand the
situation of the brothers, by examining the studies of some scholars on the effects older siblings have
on the younger siblings. Rebecca Webber s Two Sibling, One Spotlight focus on how the older sibling
set the goals for the younger siblings. Zeng yin Chen and Ruth X. Liu work Comparing Adolescent
Only Children with Those Who Have Siblings on Academic Related Outcomes and Psychosocial
Adjustment research allows for an insight of real life academics of only and children with siblings
generalized results in an academic test; presenting a significant difference between the two. Jensen,
Alexander C. and Susan M. McHale What Makes Siblings Different? The development of Sibling
Differences in Academic Achievements and Interest argues that more academically successful older
siblings generate higher expectation of parents to push the younger sibling to achieve similar
academics goals. Though most of the data indicate that the older sibling usually outperforms the
younger siblings academically I will argue, this sibling rivalry is not a negative but rather if anything
is positive for the younger sibling. A quick aside with my own personally experiences as the youngest
of three brothers. Often my siblings have set the curve for what is acceptable and not weather that be
academics or that be sports. In my own competitive nature, I have sought to surpass my brothers, with
me being the first of the three to go to

The Evolution Of The Internet Of Things
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) shall be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a large
number of different and heterogeneous end systems, while providing open access to selected subsets
of data for the development of a plethora of digital services. Building a general architecture for the IoT
is hence a very complex task, mainly because of the extremely large variety of devices, link layer
technologies, and services that may be involved in such a system. As a result, huge volumes of data
are being generated, and that data is being processed into useful actions that can command and control
things to make our lives much easier and safer and to reduce our impact on the environment. In this
paper we will discuss the vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond
machine to machine (M2M) communications and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and
applications. The interconnection of these embedded devices (including smart objects), is expected to
usher in automation in nearly all fields, while also enabling advanced applications like a smart grid,
and expanding to areas such as smart cities. quot;Things quot;, in the IoT sense, can refer to a wide
variety of devices such as heart monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, cameras
streaming live feeds of wild animals in coastal waters, automobiles with built in sensors, DNA
analysis devices for environmental/food/pathogen monitoring, or field operation devices that assist
firefighters in search and rescue operations. An urban IoT, indeed, may bring a number of beneļ¬ts in
the management and optimization of traditional public services, such as transport and parking,
lighting, surveillance and maintenance of public areas, preservation of cultural heritage, garbage
collection, celebrity of hospitals, and school. IoT is also expected to generate large amounts of data
from diverse locations, with the consequent necessity for quick aggregation of the data, and an
increase in the need to index, store, and process such data more effectively.

Leda: She was approached by Zeus, who was in the form of a swan. There was brought about two
eggs, each of which had two twins. Females: Clytemnestra and Helen. Males: Castor and Pollux.
Ganymede: He was a prince and a shepherd. Zeus, in the form of an eagle, carried him away to Mount
Olympus. He became the cup bearer of the gods there. He gained his immortality as the constellation
Aquarius (kova burcu).

Midas: He was a king and he had hospitality to the followers of Dionysus. As a reward, she asked him
to make a wish. He wished everything he touched to turn into gold. Then, he regretted it as he could
not eat or drink or pinch a loaf. He had a bath in a river and he went back to normal.
Midas and Marsyas: Marsyas was a musician who was said to be doing better music than Apollo did.
So, there was a competition whose judge was Midas. Midas favored Marsyas music over Apollo s.
Apollo gave Midas ass ears so that he could hear better and flayed (deriyi yĆ¼zmek) Marsyas. Midas
wanted to tell someone that he had ass ears. He dug a hole and told the hole the story. Anyway the
wind blew and it did not matter to the reeds (sazlık) who sung about Midas s ass ears.
Hyacintus: He is a handsome friend of Apollo. While they were playing, the discus that Apollo threw
hit him and he died. It is said that Zephyrus, the west wind, was jealous of their friendship and he blew
in purpose so that the discus could hit him. Where Hyacintus blood flowed grew hyacinth (sĆ¼mbĆ¼l).

Closing The Achievement Gap
Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement gap.
Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic
achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the underperforming
schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when the outside groups
collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring more people to the table to
improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called Closing the Achievement Gap by
Tashlai McKinstry. In her article she states there is an increase in the achievement gap in the US; the
blame for this should not be placed solely on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student is
fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to raise
their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators often
lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to handle
those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I personally agree
with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the collaboration of outside
groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they could then I think the
achievement gap would be closed by now. So, being that the achievement gap is not closed, it shows
that teachers being high quality educators is not the

  • 2. Geography Of The Indian Subcontinent Geography of the Indian subcontinent influenced the development of civilization there greatly, because of how diverse India is. The geography of the Indian subcontinent had a big affect not only with the development of civilization, but on economics, religion and social order as well. The Indian subcontinent is diverse in many ways, such as the array of languages, as well as the reputation of being a cradle of religion which created two of the world s major religions, Hinduism and Buddhism(p. 38). For example, in civilizations such as the Harappan civilization the political and social structures were affected by the geography of where their civilization resided. In several respects, Harappan civilization closely resembled the cultures of Mesopotamia and the Nile Valley (p. 39). The resemblance resembled closely, because of how the civilizations probably started out being farming villages and slowly grew into a large city. The city that was considered the center of power was the city of Harappa. The city of Harappa was surrounded by a brick wall over 40 feet thick at its base and more than 3.5 miles in circumference (p. 39). With this city of power archaeological evidence suggest that the social structures were a loose confederation made up of more than 1500 cities connected by commerce and trade alliances and ruled by the wealthy merchants and landlords. The economy of this era was primary based on agriculture such as, wheat barley, rice, and peas being the primary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Dopamine Taking a look inside of the basal ganglia specifically within the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental space, the production of dopamine occurs. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that effects provide both excitatory and inhibitory responses with axon networks. Within the substantia nigra amino acids known as tyrosine reacts with tyrosine hydroxylase in order to produce L Dopa which is then reacted with L Dopa decarboxylase in order to finally produce dopamine. Once produced dopamine has been found responsible for initiating movement, helpful in attention and learning. Therefore, the synthesis of dopamine occurs within the substantia nigra, but this is only where the cell bodies are located. The neurons project onto the ventral tegmental area ... There are several instances where a judge may call for statues to be interpreted. For example, when there is failure in legislation on a particular point such as, change in the use of language. When there is a form of ambiguity in the statue it can lead to a dispute. Mean a dispute can arise when a statue can have more than one meaning which, could affect the outcome of a case dependent on which meaning they use to interpret the statue. However, statue in the 18th century, used words which has different meanings. Which, was illustrated in the case of Cheeseman v DPP. The defendant was witnessed masturbating in public toilet by the police officers. However, Under The Town Police Clauses Act 1847 , stated that they must be a passenger. On the other hand, The Public Health Amendment Act 1902, stated that the word, street could mean any public places under the control of local authority which were the police officers. The Police Clauses Act stated the word, passenger could have different meanings but, in this case they believed that it could mean a, foot passenger also, the police were not travelling at the time they saw the defendant and he could not be arrested under these circumstances. This shows that there can be ambiguity interpreting statutes because, there was a form of lexical and structural ambiguity interpreting which resulted in a statutory ... The superficial muscles in the forearm that contract when something is being gripped are flexor carpi radialis, brachioradialis, flexor carpi ulnaris, and flexor digitorum superficialis muscles. When muscles are fatigued, often times after sports practice or a game, ice is usually the go to. Some athletes take ice baths to relax their body so the muscles don t get sore. The epic begins this way: When on high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not Annunaki ... There was nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All Living . Apsu planned to destroy the gods to form a universe of order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis also describes a world full of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new order. In Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call Marduk. In the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as Divine the womb That bore him (Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). One symbol that stood out to me the most in the book was the radio. This symbol stood out the most because of how the characters manipulated it throughout the story. In early scenes of the book, it described the childhood life for Marie Laure (main character) and Werner (main character). Werner and his sister, Jutta, spent most of their childhood listening to a broadcast of French scientists on the radio. As time passed, Werner excelled in math and was forced to work for the Nazi Party in tracking transmission waves in order to find anyone who had illegal radios (172). Ever since the development of social networking sites, people are now able to create a carefully crafted identity for themselves. This has led psychologists to question how well these online personalities match the person in front of the computer. The innovative branch of media psychology looks into how social networking portrays individuals and initiates human interactions within a society. Then researchers rated the same subjects based solely on their Facebook profiles, which usually included pictures and lists of interests. The researchers found a correlation between assessments in four of the five categories. Gosling was not surprised that emotional stability was the only attribute showing no significant results across personal and online assessments because it is a quality that people are good at concealing across most media (Wilson, 2007). Although the extroversion category showed the highest correlation, research suggests that openness to new experience is perhaps exhibited better online than in person. Judith Donath, an associate professor at the Media Laboratory at MIT who reviewed Gosling s research, divides the content of social networking sites into signals and unintended cues. According to Donath, Facebook users do not intend to share super personal information on their profiles. • 22. Analysis Of The Central Themes From Shakespeare s Henry Iv What is honor? That question is one of the central themes from Shakespeare s Henry IV. Throughout the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is. Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are vastly different. Falstaff and Hotspur differ significantly in their idea of honor. Hotspur believes honor is all about glory and being the center of attention. While Falstaff is only certain that the dead have honor but is unsure about what it is as described by this excerpt of his soliloquy, No. What is honour? . Hotspur believes that honor is derived from epic or heroic deeds, these deeds tends to be very physical in nature such as the honor gained from battle. After the crash, the boys gather everyone together and elect a chief to lead the group. After the plane crashes, Ralph and Piggy stumble upon a conch shell and use it to call an assembly to gather all the boys up. When blown through, the conch creates a roaring blare that allows everyone to hear it. This conch becomes the most important motif since it keeps the boys organized. This conch is also used to create order among the boys to signify who has the right to talk, that way everyone has a chance to be heard without being interrupted. This is apparent when Ralph says, And another thing. We can t have everybody talking at once. We ll have to have Hands up like at school ... And he won t be interrupted. Except by me. Jack was on his feet. We ll have rules! he cried excitedly. Lots of rules! (Golding 33). This rule associated with the conch helps the boys to maintain a civilized structure by demanding the boys to give respect. Every time the conch is blown, the boys gather and anytime anyone wants to speak during these assemblies, they hold the shell. By instilling these 2 guidelines, all the boys have the opportunity to accept power and respect. To keep control in the group, the boys decide to run their society similar to an autocracy. All the boys agree electing a chief to lead the group will be the most effective way to stay organized and civilized until they are rescued. • 25. Equal Rights for Same-Sex Couples Essays Imagine being in love with someone, but never having the ability to make the relationship official. For many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great strides have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition from the Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be constitutionalized. While the Federal Government denies gay and lesbian couples the right to marry, there are some state governments which allow same sex couples the right to domestic partnerships, civil unions, and marriages. These states which grant domestic partnerships and the states mentioned above which allow civil unions are in the beginning stages of trying to rectify the Federal Government s Defense of Marriage Act. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. These states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont plus the District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and Washington, D.C. allow gay marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. There are many financial benefits received from a marriage which make it appealing to same sex couples. These rights and federal tax benefits are given to married heterosexual couples, but homosexual couples do not receive them. Such benefits include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting money or property from his or her spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of husband and wife (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed unconstitutional. This means that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be married , the Federal Government prohibits it. The colonists fell under one of three opinions on independence: a patriot, a loyalist, or a neutral. The patriots were completely done with Great Britain and wanted independence. The loyalists wanted the colonies they lived in to remain a part of the glorious British Empire. Lastly, the neutrals didn t know where they stood concerning independence, or didn t care. Despite many arguments given by either side, patriot or loyalist, a copious amount of colonists didn t have or want a side. The patriots and loyalists were both groups of people from the wealthier parts of the colonies and the less prosperous colonists were usually neutrals. The patriots and loyalists were constantly in a battle to gain more followers for their cause and propaganda sprang up all over the colonies in the direction of the neutrals. The patriots were split into two groups, moderate and radical, though they both wanted the same thing, independence from Great Britain. The radical patriots waged a war between the colonies and their founder while the moderate patriots would have rather sat down with the British and settled things verbally and peacefully. The scene where Marian holds up the money beside the mirror in the Bates motel s toilets, shows Hitchcock s idea of the innerself and private self being shown in the reflection of the mirror. We are shown that Marian is uncertain of the situation. However when we see a reflection of Norman Bates in a window, it implies that although he has a nice outer persona, he must have a darker innerself. Hitchcock uses weather to a great advantage. In Fear and Trembling Kierkegaard relates true faith to the Knight of infinite resignation and the Knight of faith; in this paper, I will examine this claim and show why Kierkegaard s analogy is an excellent metaphor for the double movement which is required in one s quest to attain faith and why. So now, not only is Abraham faced with killing his own son, he is also supposed to still be considered in a religious context to be sacrificing his son. The Knight of infinite resignation sees this contradiction, this logical impossibility, and is aware of how this command defies rationality. This knight accepts that, in this life, his beloved son is going to die and that his hand will be the one to deliver this task. The main point Kierkegaard makes is when he goes on to say that to have faith, one must have experienced both of these stages. One must experience the stage of infinite resignation before being able to attain faith. Infinite resignation is the last stage before faith, so that anyone who has not made this movement does not have faith (Kierkegaard 75). Kierkegaard goes even further on to explain why, for only in infinite resignation does my eternal validity become transparent to me, and only then can there be talk of grasping existence on the strength of faith (75). Kierkegaard s position is made clear, only after one has had to make a decision from a place contradiction, can one truly have faith. Rosa Bonheur s Buffalo Bill Bonheur was full of curiosity about the many animals and American Indians that were part of the spectacle, reflecting her enormous enthusiasm in at least seventeen paintings and countless sketches produced during her almost daily visits to the encampment. It s a straightforward composition, with the white horse trotting on a somewhat dusty path towards the viewer, slightly at an angle and meeting our gaze, while Cody glances to one side as if enacting the tracker he once was (see Fig. 7). • 39. Analysis Of Me Talk Pretty One Day By David Sedaris In the article, Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (1999), the author describes what it was like learning French while living in France. Sedaris moved to Paris in order to learn the language and immerse himself into the culture. He thought this would make learning the language easier. During his time in France, Sedaris experienced intimidation, abuse, and joy. Learning a foreign language as an adult is difficult because of the feeling of intimidation by younger classmates, a hostile learning environment presented by the teacher, and an inherent cognitive disadvantage. On the first day of class, after he was done checking in, he sat down to observe his classmates returning from their summer vacations. Initially, he walked in full of confidence and his head held high. However, that quickly changed when he heard his classmates speak French, and the feeling of intimidation washed over him like waves hitting the beach, at my age, a reasonable person should have completed his sentence in the prison of the nervous and insecure . . . my fears have not vanished, rather, they have multiplied with age (Sedaris, 1999, 1). For being a forty one year old man, he thought these feelings of insecurity and fear in the classroom would have ended long ago. If he thought things could not get worse, he was mistaken. The teacher walked in, rattled off commands to the class, and then asked them to recite the alphabet. In that moment, he knew he was in trouble, I ve spent time in Normandy, and I took a monthlong French class in New York. I am not completely in the dark, yet I only understood half of what she said (Sedaris, 1999, 1) and, despite the exposure he already had, he was still unable to understand everything the teacher was saying. Properly learning and grasping a new language requires support and the proper learning environment from the teacher. However, it did not take long for David to learn that his teacher was verbally abusive, among other negative things. Unfortunately, this realization also came on the first day of class. She spoke to the class in a condescending tone, and insulted each student s ability to speak the language. One day, as she was humiliating David in front of the entire class, she said ... Inheritance allows to create classes which are derived from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s members, plus its own. They have certain common properties, such as both can be described by means of only two sides: height and base. If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base class are inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most restricting of all access levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private. For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class daughter: protected mother; | This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it inherited from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become protected indaughter. Of course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public members. She talks to this little girl she calls Athena and asks her if she goes to the mall with her friends alone. Athena tells her no, that when she goes to the mall with her friends its always with her mom and brothers, but they stay a little behind. She says that she had to check in every 30 minutes with her mom and let her know what they are doing. As Mrs. Twenge is talking to Athena she starts to find out how teens today communicate. She finds out that snapchat is one way they communicate and according to Athena it s also another great way to blackmail someone to. Jean M. • 46. Comparison Of The Characters In Henriquez s Novel The... In life people are often compare each other for relative success, and so often and conveniently siblings are compared to each other. We see this comparison in Christiana s Henriquez s novel, The Book of Unknown Americans with the characters of Enrique and Mayor. Between the two brothers, one has clearly accomplished more great feats in his parents eyes, him being Enrique. Throughout the book the accomplishment of Enrique is felt acts as a burden towards his younger brother, Mayor. Mayor, try as he might, is not his brother and this is seen through Mayor failures to meet the standards of Enrique presented in the book. There is a sibling rival between the brothers created by their father Rafael Toro. An advancement of knowledge on the subject of sibling rivals can help us to further understand the situation of the brothers, by examining the studies of some scholars on the effects older siblings have on the younger siblings. Rebecca Webber s Two Sibling, One Spotlight focus on how the older sibling set the goals for the younger siblings. Zeng yin Chen and Ruth X. Liu work Comparing Adolescent Only Children with Those Who Have Siblings on Academic Related Outcomes and Psychosocial Adjustment research allows for an insight of real life academics of only and children with siblings generalized results in an academic test; presenting a significant difference between the two. Jensen, Alexander C. and Susan M. McHale What Makes Siblings Different? The development of Sibling Differences in Academic Achievements and Interest argues that more academically successful older siblings generate higher expectation of parents to push the younger sibling to achieve similar academics goals. Though most of the data indicate that the older sibling usually outperforms the younger siblings academically I will argue, this sibling rivalry is not a negative but rather if anything is positive for the younger sibling. A quick aside with my own personally experiences as the youngest of three brothers. Often my siblings have set the curve for what is acceptable and not weather that be academics or that be sports. In my own competitive nature, I have sought to surpass my brothers, with me being the first of the three to go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Evolution Of The Internet Of Things Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) shall be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a large number of different and heterogeneous end systems, while providing open access to selected subsets of data for the development of a plethora of digital services. Building a general architecture for the IoT is hence a very complex task, mainly because of the extremely large variety of devices, link layer technologies, and services that may be involved in such a system. As a result, huge volumes of data are being generated, and that data is being processed into useful actions that can command and control things to make our lives much easier and safer and to reduce our impact on the environment. In this paper we will discuss the vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine to machine (M2M) communications and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications. The interconnection of these embedded devices (including smart objects), is expected to usher in automation in nearly all fields, while also enabling advanced applications like a smart grid, and expanding to areas such as smart cities. quot;Things quot;, in the IoT sense, can refer to a wide variety of devices such as heart monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, cameras streaming live feeds of wild animals in coastal waters, automobiles with built in sensors, DNA analysis devices for environmental/food/pathogen monitoring, or field operation devices that assist firefighters in search and rescue operations. An urban IoT, indeed, may bring a number of beneļ¬ts in the management and optimization of traditional public services, such as transport and parking, lighting, surveillance and maintenance of public areas, preservation of cultural heritage, garbage collection, celebrity of hospitals, and school. IoT is also expected to generate large amounts of data from diverse locations, with the consequent necessity for quick aggregation of the data, and an increase in the need to index, store, and process such data more effectively. ... • 49. Closing The Achievement Gap Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement gap. Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the underperforming schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when the outside groups collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring more people to the table to improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called Closing the Achievement Gap by Tashlai McKinstry. In her article she states there is an increase in the achievement gap in the US; the blame for this should not be placed solely on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to handle those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I personally agree with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the collaboration of outside groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they could then I think the achievement gap would be closed by now. So, being that the achievement gap is not closed, it shows that teachers being high quality educators is not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
