The Apostles and the Early Church
The Apostles and the Early Church
J.Trimble
GBST 164
In the Gospel of Matthew the term apostles is only used when introducing the list of twelve apostles
commissioned to follow Christ. Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the first, Simon who
is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and
Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose
surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him (Matthew
10:1 4). An apostle is a person sent to accomplish a mission. An apostle represents the one sending
and has authority to represent the sender in business, political, or educational situations (T. ... Show

Gigot). The change of Simon s name by Jesus was significant. As in the case of Abram, Sarai and
Jacob, the change of destiny is indicated by the change of name. This name Cephas is taken from the
Aramaic vernacular and corresponds to the Greek Peter, Petros, which means a piece of rock a mass of
rock detached from the living rock (T. Butler). It is a term which becomes a natural emblem of
firmness and stability. It may be hard for us to see the fitness of such a name for a man apparently so
unstable; but the fitness was perceived by Christ. Peter wavered often, even while under his Master s
eye, and at least once afterward, but he continually became more and more like the rock that Christ
wanted him to be and he was indeed a pillar of the church (W.B. Hill).
We observe that all the time Christ was with the Twelve, Peter was a leader among them.
Occasionally, Christ would select certain ones for special responsibilities; for example: Peter, James
and John to witness the raising of Jarius daughter, the transfiguration, and the agony in the garden (G.
Stokes). Now, why were these particular men selected on these occasions to be the recipients of
special privileges and the bearers of the attendant responsibilities? Certainly not because they
possessed greater authority than the other apostles, but because here

Mcadoo Organizational Structure
Henry Buggy wrote an article in the Headlines Global News website named, Giants Ben McAdoo
Says Eli Manning s Best Football is in Front of Him about the new coach McAdoo, and what he is
doing differently with the New York Giants in their off season. In this article, it touches on key terms
learned in chapter 15 of Organizational behavior: Improving performance and commitment in the
workplace by Colquitt, LePine, and Wesson. Restructuring, trust, survivor s guilt, and company
strategy are terms that apply to this article. The article highlights on how the Giants are restructuring
their program and getting used to different and new strategies, plans, and ideas in their stable
environment with their new head coach McAdoo.

McAdoo has seen improvements with his offensive drills in the past two years working as offensive
coordinator. He believes by building a new program around offense this will give the outcome of
winning games and the team participating in the playoffs. A Company strategy is an organization s
objectives and goals, assets to make money (Colquitt, LePine, Wesson, 2015). In the case with the
Giants the objectives and goals assets is to win games and make it to the playoffs. McAdoo s
objectives and changes consist of, making a new team schedule so that the players will have Mondays
off instead of Tuesdays in hopes of resting players more after games (Headlines Global News). Also,
he changed the players weight training philosophy to cut down on injuries and improve players with
injuries, such as Cruz (Headlines Global News). McAdoo s new objectives and goals for building a
new foundation hopefully will spark the players to perform at the best of their abilities, also giving the
fans a chance to see their team in next season s Super

Dr Steinberg Amicus Brief Analysis
According to the textbook, Dr. Steinberg and his colleagues wrote an amicus brief regarding the
American Psychological Association s stance on the psychological maturity of adolescents. The
amicus brief states that adolescents have the right to seek an abortion without any parental consent.
The APA believes that adolescents are as mature as adults. Steinberg and his colleagues also believe
this to be true. They think adolescents have the skills when it comes to getting an abortion, but when it
comes to criminal responsibility adolescents are immature. Do you believe this to be true? Well, in my
opinion, I do agree with Steinberg when he says adolescents are immature when it comes to criminal
responsibility. However, I do have to disagree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know that there are so many issues that can influence the adolescent s ability to partake in the
decision making process such as age, knowledge, and development. If you compare an adult to an
adolescent, the adult brain is already developed and capable of making rational, careful decisions. For
example, if an adult were to make a decision on abortion, they would carefully weigh all their options,
talk about it with close family, friends, and decide what to do next. Where as an adolescent, their brain
is still premature, which can effect their decision on abortion. The prefrontal cortex is located in the
adolescent s brain, and it is the area of the brain that s not fully developed. This part of the brain
controls reasoning, impulses, emotions, forms judgments, and helps people think before they act.
Therefore, it plays a huge role for people, especially when having to make such crucial decisions.
More often than not, adolescents are less likely to think before they act, and they normally don t
consider the consequences of their decision. Whole heartedly, I believe that adolescents are not
mentally prepared to make a decision on getting an

The Pros And Cons Of The Green Revolution
Introduction: The Green Revolution was a research and development initiative aimed to increase the
number of crop yields from the years between 1930 1960 and the subsequent years following them
which resulted in the adaptation of various technologies leading to the invention of high yielding
varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and new irrigation methods. It has facilitated socio economic
changes which have helped in preventing natural calamities due to the ever increasing world
population and has provided people with an option of self sustaining and reduced poverty. The Green
Revolution was a joint venture between the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation while Dr.
Norman Borlaug, the father of the Green Revolution has been ... Show more content on

These credit institutions mortgaged lands to farmers which in turn proved beneficial for these
institutions as they could acquire these farms if the farmer was unable to the pay the loan (Ponting,
2007). One of the major advantages of the Green Revolution was that it increased the use of
machinery on the farmlands (Bruce Koppel, 1987). Conclusion: Thus, it can be clearly said that the
Green Revolution replaced, one way of life with another within a short span of two decades. due to its
massive agricultural developments (Parayil, 1992). It was a major achievement when it was
implemented in the developing countries as it gave them a sense of food security after the end of the
World War 2. It got many people out of poverty and hunger and while this was focussed on, it also
dropped down the prices for food, increased migration, generated employment and the increased
economy as well. Agriculture research still needs new research to tackle the upcoming problems
related to increasing yields to feed the ever growing population and growth of food for the developing
countries. Add to that, globalization and trade will make food prices less liable to local food produce
and agriculture will not be as important for people

Mackenzie King Research Paper
Mackenzie King and his Leadership
Intro:
Strong leadership is taking ownership of a responsibility, willingly, creatively and effectively. Strong
leaders provide direction and support through unstable times, think deeply about the future, account
everyone s beliefs and opinions, and influence their followers. Every successful leader needs four
qualities; confidence, fairness, intelligence and persuasiveness. One of history s strongest leaders was
William Lyon Mackenzie King. Mackenzie King is remembered as one of the greatest Canadian
leaders in history as he lead the Liberal and Canadian Parliament through the happiest and most
troubled times for over two decades. His leadership was composed of his strong confidence, the
fairness he demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strong leaders require the character trait of fairness as it shows equal treatment and respect of different
opinions, and avoids many conflicts. Mackenzie King demonstrated fairness with the English and
French speakers in Canada to unite Canada as one, and to avoid conflicts. For example, when King
was first elected in 1921, his major goal was to unite all Canadians, mainly focusing on Protestants
and Catholics. A month prior to being elected, King wrote in his diary; A United Canada I made the
first consideration...I want farmers, labour, soldiers, business and professions represented, and balance
between Protestants, and Catholics. This demonstrates the fairness Mackenzie King shows towards all
labour workers and professions as well as both Anglophones and Francophones, even before getting
elected. His first consideration is a balance between Protestants and Catholics , which displays the
significance fairness has in King s eyes, as it shows that King s first priority is the fairness between
the two groups. Specifically, Mackenzie King demonstrates his fairness with French and English
during the Conscription Crisis of 1944. To obtain the support from the French, King had pledged The
present government believes that conscription of men for overseas service would not be necessary or
an effective step. Let me say that so long

Cause And Effect Of Titanic
Introduction Iceberg right ahead! That one of the most unforgettable quotes from the movie, Titanic .
After seeing that movie for the first time I found the Titanic and her famous story, I found the Titanic
and very fascinating. Titanic is one of the greatest known maritime disasters in history to this day. She
was the grandest, most technologically advanced ship, and safest ship of her time. As you read this
report, you will be presented some effects Titanic had on things during her time period as well as in
the present that most people may not know about.
Body of Research During the time of her construction, Titanic was designed to be the largest,
grandest, safest, and most technologically advanced ship during her time. Her designers and engineers
set out to build a class of ocean liners that could compete against White Star Line s rival company,
Cunard. However, when Titanic, the second of her sister ships sunk on her maiden voyage, it shook
the world and it had a major impact on the world and its people. One of the main effects was the effect
on safety regulations. Titanic only carried enough lifeboats to sustain roughly half of the passengers
and crew on board. At the time, Titanic actually exceeded the amount of the lifeboats required by the
British Board of Trade regulations by 10 percent.
Although there was room on deck for twice as many lifeboats, the Titanic carried lifeboats for just
over half of the passengers and crew on board. The designer of the Titanic had allowed room on deck
for two rows of lifeboats, but one row was removed before the voyage began to make the deck more
aesthetically pleasing [Rogers and others, 1998]. With outdated British Board of Trade regulations, the
Titanic s twenty lifeboats actually exceeded requirements by 10 percent capacity [Refrigerator, 1998].
(Vicki Bassett, par. 21)
After Titanic s disaster, the new safety regulations required all ships to carry enough lifeboats to
sustain all of the passengers and crew aboard the ship. Moreover, the regulations also specify that the
lifeboats had to carry items such as oars, food, drinks, compasses, etc. Following the increase in
lifeboats, a mandatory use of wireless

The Descent of Dick Diver in Tender is the Night
Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald chronicles Dick Diver s long descent (or dying fall, [Letters
310]) to ruin at the hands of women. Diver, the novel s protagonist and antagonist, seeks to overthrow
feminine power. Dick needs to control the women in his life. To him, women want to be dependent;
they are weak, lost souls who need the guidance only a man can give. In turn, women are parasites
who feed on him and ultimately destroy his genius.
Before Diver becomes involved with woman, he is a Rhodes Scholar and a promising young
Psychiatrist. By the end of the novel he is a middle aged drunk chasing young women. Dick Diver,

Instead, Diver must increasingly restate the universe for her , as part of her treatment. Nicole follows
Dick walking on her hands . She is after all one to whom nothing need be explained and one to whom
nothing could be explained . When the dying Mr. Warren requests to see his daughter, Diver claims
she is not strong enough to decide the matter for herself (249). Diver consults Franz but does not allow
Nicole a say in the situation. Thus, Diver exhibits his controlling character in maintaining the right to
make his wife s decisions for her. Nicole has no identity of her own: she identifies herself with Dick
and is so dependent on him that she almost wants to be him. So much so that she even wants to
become a writer like him: I want to be a fine person like you, Dick, I would study medicine. When
Diver once describes his love for Nicole, he calls it a wild submergence of soul, a dipping of all colors
into an obscuring dye. There is little doubt that he believes Nicole is entirely to blame for the loss of
his youthful personality. Nicole sucked the life out of him: all his energy is diverted to her needs and
when she has used him enough, she abandons him for another man. She is the cause of his marked
degeneration; she is, after all, a woman whose wealth and mental instability stunt his

A Professor Of Psychology At A University
A professor of psychology at a university in a large metropolitan area would be at risk of violating
several codes of ethics if he tells his abnormal psychology class that he is a psychotherapist in private
practice and that they can come to him for therapy during the duration of the semester. Several
problems can occur as a result of the professor s solicitation of his service as a psychotherapist to his
students (5.6, American Psychological Association, 2002). By assuming two professional roles with
his students the professor is clearly engaged in multiple relationships (3.5, American Psychological
Association, 2002). The students are at risk of being exploited by their professor. The professor has
knowledge of his student s deepest thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. This personal
information can be used to manipulate the student s behavior in a classroom setting (3.8, American
Psychological Association, 2002). If the professor is aware of a student s fear of public speaking the
professor can possibly use this information to punish the student. The students may also feel that their
therapy session influences the outcome of their psychology class. The students may feel that they
received a bad grade or a good grade because of the outcome of their therapy session. This creates
pressure for the students to regulate their therapy session in accordance to what they think will affect
their grade in class. This can lead to a lack of willingness to share

Internal Contradiction Of Capitalism Analysis
Capitalism is not a rigid, inflexible economic and political system there are many forms of capitalism
around the world. It is illustrated as being different variations of capitalism outside the United States;
there is the Dutch version, the French version, the British version, as well as the American version.
American capitalism implements free market ideology and that makes the U.S. stand out among other
nations. Other nations do not dwell on privatization and deregulation nearly as much as the U.S.,
which is both a major strength and critique of American capitalism. One critique of American
capitalism is the Five Internal Contradiction of Capitalism. These contradictions include inevitable

The answer does not have to be socialism or any other economic policy, but reform is necessary to
save the lives of millions of Americans currently suffering in poverty. The current economic and
political policies are creating class inequality so dramatic that families cannot survive no matter how
hard they work. That is not the American Dream children learn in social studies classes year after year.
Students in the United States grow up learning about the many accomplishments the country has made
over the centuries and that in the United States, the right amount of drive and determination can
guarantee success. Coming out of high school and college, young adults learn fast that establishing a
life in the United States is difficult without reliable resources to aid them in becoming independent.
That is not feasible when the majority of wealth is only available to the upper class. There is not
enough wealth to create opportunities for everyone to thrive and those at the bottom suffer for just not
being fortunate enough. They are not given the same opportunities and are preyed upon for being
gullible and desperate for cash. In reality, it shows that those who are at the

The Relationship Between Lyra And The Gyptian, And Jordan...
Throughout The Golden Compass, there have been many encounters with Lyra and the Gyptians, and
the people of Jordan College with her as well. Imagine putting yourself in Lyra s shoes, interacting
with the Gyptians and the people of Jordan College. What are some reasons why the interactions
between them is different from each other? While you re reading, think about those reasons you came
up with, and compare them to the reasons in the essay. Furthermore, the ensuing of this essay will
include the relationship between Lyra and Jordan College, and the relationship between Lyra and the
Gyptains, all compared and contrasted in three ways with textual evidence from the novel. In the
entire novel, the people of Jordan College are strikingly mature like with Lyra (with the exception of
Roger, etc). However, the Gyptian people are more acquaintance like with her (they talk to her more

The third observation occurs with Lyra and the Master. Master treats Lyra extremely maturely, telling
her that she has to leave Jordan College. The Master is being truthful to Lyra and telling her what she
needs and why she needs them. Lyra might not have liked it, but she still listened to the Master
because of their mature relationship. In like manner, Lyra then packs her stuff and then proceeds to
start living with Mrs. Coulter in London. She brings an alethiometer (suggested by Master) and goes
all by herself with Mrs. Coulter to her flat. This affects the plot as Lyra would find out that Mrs.
Coulter is a gobbler, and she runs away. This crucially affects to the plot as well because Lyra now
knows that Mrs. Coulter is a gobbler, and she should stay away from her. This reveals that Master tells
Lyra what to do and Lyra listens to him. This also shows that they have a mature relationship as Lyra

Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note Summary
Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note is the speaker of this short poem with 63 lines in it. The poem is a
dramatic monologue. It tells a small story about how an Asian American girl who is in college,
committed suicide because she was not able to meet the expectations for herself and her family. She
talked about how each failure effects are greatly, how standing on the ledge reminded her about how a
sparrow is about to take flight, and she reminds me of a few people in school that have gone through
similar instances like the girl but, did not go through with it fully. Suicide Note is a poem written in
1987. The poem is about a young Asian American college student who jumped out of her dorm

The poem is an apology to her parents.
In the first two stanzas, she is talking directly to her parents. The speaker is apologizing to her parents
for the work that she placed out and saying she is sorry for not doing better than what she had just
done. I apologize/ for disappointing you. is her saying she is sorry. She also said three lines over and
over again, which were not good enough , not pretty enough , and not smart enough . Those three
things made her not feel she was good enough and it psyched her bad enough to not continue with life.
At the end of the second stanza, she says in my father s dream which automatically shows that she is
doing it for her family. She was given an opportunity to bring more honor to her family by going to
college and graduating it, but sadly she was not able to get that far. She thinks that she brought
dishonor to her family by not being able to keep her perfect four point grade average. It is not easy at
all to keep it there so she must have done a great job to get that far, but not even that was able to

Comparing The Two Sport Societies
Comparison Of the Two Sport Societies Comparing these two sports societies may have seemed to be
a difficult task before reading the descriptions of each. After reading and researching, it is very clear to
me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different sports. In each
nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their given sport. Even
though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society, there is
still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about the societies that is
comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport. Both groups are very

As you can see from author Williams, more and more Americans are adopting England s societal
sports norms. Things happening between the NFL and England s sports society have really taken off to
another level, and make Williams story look like baby steps. This gradual progress aside, at the end of
the day American football will never be as popular (accepted) in England as soccer, just like soccer
will never be as popular as football here in the states. That is the only conclusion that can be reached

Comparing Smartphone Vs Smart Phones
Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate with
each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones. Instead
of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all can be
done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether
iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs,
however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements
such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhone can and more.
However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it has everything the iPhone
has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for
different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done
faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is important because people will know when
to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been assigned to a specific person.
First of all, Samsungs have better and longer lasting battery life than iPhones do. Samsungs also have
the ability to remove the battery from the phone and it also has fast charging so that the phone can be
used as many times as needed without the problem of the battery running out. For instance, there s no

Irony In The Summoner s
Chaucer carefully shows us the Summoner, quaking with anger, after hearing the Friar s Tale, and
those pious readers who might have thought that the Friar s Tale veered close to the line of
blasphemous sin would likely have been straight out offended by the Summoner s. It is a bilious,
aggressive tale which does not even consider pulling its punches, and the Friar s contempt is roundly
quyt with a full on, unrelenting attack from the Summoner. Anality is a key ingredient in the tale,
potentially a reference to the possible interpretation of the General Prologue which argues that the
Summoner and Pardoner are engaged in a homosexual relationship. Regardless of whether this
reading is accepted, the prologue begins with a journey into the devil s arse, and the tale finds its
resolution with the division of a fart, first from Thomas arse, and then from the friar s. This journey
from arse to arse is only one of several ways in which the Summoner s Tale mechanically closes in on
itself, in precisely the way that the friar within it manages to bring about his own humiliation. There is
a neat irony in the way that the friar, after a lengthy lecture about anger management and doing away
with ire (anger) then becomes absolutely furious, looking as if he were a wilde boor . The structure of
the tale has a quitting like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jankin s vision of the friars gathered at the spokes of a huge wheel is actually a parody of the

one might suggest, a reworking of religion entirely appropriate to the piety of the friar (and even the

The Impact of Humans on the Biological Diversity of Natural Ecosystems
Introduction
Since humans have come into existence they have always been a cause of change of whatever natural
areas they inhabit along with the living organisms of those natural areas. The different types of
organisms such as plants, animals, and microorganisms that inhabit these areas are known as
biological diversity or biodiversity. (USEPA 2010 ) Biological diversity can be affected by many
different things, climate change, and area being two specific things. Humans fit into a strange niche of
biological diversity. While we have a part of biodiversity and in ecosystems, the human race has
spread much farther than any other breed or type of organism except for ... Show more content on

Eventually all rivers lead and empty out into oceans which means said chemicals are dumped into the
ocean. These chemicals, waste, and debris float freely into the human population water supply and
into the animals of aquatic systems water supply and habitats. These animals are exposed to the
companies byproducts and they affect the life span, and habitat quality of the animals. Yet again
human population growth can cause extinction of species, populations, communities, etc. due to the
lack of regard or concern of how the biodiversity of natural ecosystems affects all species in the long
run.

Landscape Conservation
Though humans have made a huge impact on the biodiversity of many and most ecosystems; it is
recognized that for as much damage has been caused there should be some type of effort to improve
and try to restore the biodiversity in some ecosystems. So was created the National Landscape
Conservation System in 1969 ( CSA 2009). The mission of this system is to conserve, protect, and
restore these nationally significant landscapes that have outstanding cultural, ecological, and scientific
values for the benefit of current and future generations . (CSA 2009 ) However this system of land
conservation is solely interested can only benefit Western/American land. The goal is to protect the

Essay on Merck Case Study
Introduction to the Case First established in 1668 in Darmstadt, Germany, Merck is currently (in 1978)
one of the largest prescription drug producers in the world. After coming off a 10 year drug drought in
the late 1970s, Merck put a large amount of money into research to continue its dominance in the
prescription drug industry. The research first approach worked and since then Merck has increased
sales significantly. Merck s mission was well stated by founder George W. Merck. We try never to
forget that medicine is for the people...not for the profits (Bollier 3).

Cambell puts Merck in a difficult situation. First, Merck must choose a course of action that is
ethically responsible and is consistent with its mission of making drugs to help people. Second, the
option must address the reality that businesses must make a profit to stay open, so it should also offer
some type of benefit for the company financially. One option for Merck is to proceed only with the
drug Ivomec for animals and not to develop a drug for river blindness. There is simply not a large
enough market that could afford any potential drug to help with river blindness. A significant amount
of research has already been put into Ivomec and there is a high probability that Ivomec will be a
financially successful product for the business. This option would maximize the business profits and
minimize its risks. On the other hand, it is hard to justify such a course of action with the mission of
the business. Millions of people would continue to suffer from river blindness. This option puts profits
before the people and it could possibly result in a negative backlash from the media. If Merck were to
pursue such a route, measures could still be taken to potentially help the victims of river blindness.
Merck could release its research on ivermectin to other drug companies, allowing them the

Women In Antigone
No matter how close brothers and sisters are, siblings will ultimately disagree at one time or another.
Just like oil and water, Antigone and Ismene don t mix. In the play Antigone by Sophocles, Ismene
acts as a foil to her sister Antigone by highlighting their differing opinions as women in a Greek
society.
One conflict always brought upon Antigone and Ismene is the power of man versus the power of the
Gods. While Ismene believes that she has no strength to break laws that were meant for the public
good (Prologue 62 63), her opposite believes that everyone will remember what things [she suffers],
and at what men s hands, because [she] would not transgress the laws of heaven (4. 734 736). Ismene

Stockholm Syndrome Theory
The Role of the Stockholm syndrome Theory in relation to attachment in Emotional Abuse:
Stockholm Syndrome is a paradoxical phenomenon that occurred on August 23, 1973 by a 32 year old
career criminal Jan Erik Olsson and his partner. It occurred at the Svergis Kredit Bank, Sweden where
four employees were held hostage for 131 hours. According to Doyle (2002) it became clear that
during the siege, the hostages, despite being law abiding citizens, were more afraid of the police than
they were of their captors, and subsequently defended the robbers. In kidnap and hostage situations,
negotiators recognize that captives frequently develop positive feelings towards their captors and
show hostility towards any rescuers: Even in the face of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those that show resistance often have a strong value system or an alternative model of behaviour to
which they cling tenaciously. Similarly, children who are subjected to mistreatment at the hands of a
newly arrived step parent, or who have other positive influences, may resist and complain because
they know there are alternative forms of parental behaviour (Doyle, 2002). Strenz (1980) noted that
the Stockholm syndrome is likely to be absent when captors showed no kindness towards their
victims. He states that those victims who had negative contacts with the subjects did not evidence
concern for them... some of these victims had been physically abused by the subjects. They obviously
did not like their abuse and advocated the maximum penalty be imposed (p.143). Abusive children
may not feel any loyalty and affection for the parent who is constantly abusive but may feel indifferent
to the other. Dorothy Bloch (1979) noted, In no case did the child feel loved by either parent...with
these children the abusive and hating parent seems to be unworthy of respect and in some instances

Breathing Mediation Research Paper

Breathe deeply feeling the abdomen movement and concentrate on it and not the chest. Make sure to
breathe through the nose.
What is the Diaphragm?
It is a large muscle. It sits in a horizontal position crossing the bottom of the rib cage. It connects to
the front, back, and sides of the lower rib cage. It has an oval shape and turned over bowl look.
When someone inhales, it contracts pulling down, and the ribs spread out a little and the lower end of

But the lower abdomen is still when someone breathes with the diaphragm. The chest breathing also
generates more stress and basically a cycle is started. This cause bodily tenseness and agitates the
mind.
The adherent to diaphragmatic breathing for deep meditation has to take the time to learn to breathe
from the diaphragm and keep the top of the chest and the bottom of the abdomen still.
Western medicine has found out that just as the yogis have known for a long time, breathing is closely
related to autonomic nervous system and a person s mind. Thus, some hospitals now teach people
deep breathing.
A person needs to be trained correctly and to practice it daily. He should practice it at least in the
morning and evening.
* Breathe using the diaphragm. The ribs should expand outward, but he shoulders and upper chest
should be still.
* Breathe flowingly. The breath should be steady.
* Breathe slowly. Don t strain. It should feel comfortable.
* Breathe deeply, but don t overdue or strain.
* The breathing should be continual, not a stopping and starting.

The Dynamic, Broad And Complex Nature Of Cloud Infrastructure
The dynamic, broad and complex nature of cloud infrastructure makes it difficult to provide resilience
against design issues. In order to make user effectively utilize the existing computational power a new
kind of operating systems are needed. Therefore cloud based operating systems promise vision to meet
user s needs at any time. At the same time designing of cloud based operating systems present many
challenges to the designer. The common issues include heterogeneity, elasticity of demand, scalability
and faults. 2.1 HETEROGENEITY Current operating systems requires same ISA for all the cores. All
the cores in the traditional operating systems execute the same instruction set. But these cores differ in
performance and capability levels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inducing heterogeneity into system means using more than one kind of processor. Not only same kind
of processors but different processors can be added to a system to increase the performance. In order
to handle particular tasks heterogeneity incorporates specialized processing capabilities.
Heterogeneous systems use different Instruction Set Architectures (ISA s). The main processor in a
system will have one ISA and the remaining have another. Heterogeneous systems are capable of
using different processor types. They can have CPU s and GPU s embedded on a single integrated
circuit to give best of both. In a heterogeneous system with CPU s and GPU s CPU generally will be
equipped in performing serial tasks and GPU is well known for its graphic capabilities and intensive
computations. GPU s are capable of dealing with large datasets. On the other hand designing
heterogeneous operating systems can impose many challenges one of which may be binary
incompatibility due to different instruction set architectures. Different elements may interpret memory
in different ways. The non uniformity in the system depends on the level of heterogeneity introduced
into the system. Library and other services may not be uniformly available to all the elements present
in the heterogeneous system. Heterogeneous environments support low level implementation of
functions and threads. The architectural differences between the CPU s

companies do not succeed because of their bad business strategies, business locations, or they were

Persuasive Essay On Smoking In Public Places
Imagine, arriving home after a wondrous evening at a restaurant with family only to realize that
everyone s clothes and hair smells like smoke. This happens all too often simply because people are
allowed to smoke in public. Numerous individuals are addicted to smoking cigarettes and do not have
any consideration for those around them when they make the decision to smoke. People that smoke
cigarettes have made their choice to subject themselves to the many health risks that smoking can
have on their body. However, many individuals have made the choice not to smoke cigarettes because
they do not want to subject themselves to many of the health risks that smoking can have.
Nevertheless, they are still required to deal with these things when others choose to smoke cigarettes
in a public place. How is that just? Non smokers should not be forced to deal with all the issues that
can arise from breathing in cigarette smoke or dealing with all their clothes smelling like smoke
simply for the reason that someone chose to smoke in a public place. Smoking cigarettes does not only
impact the individual that is smoking, it impacts everyone and everything around them. Smoking
cigarettes in public places should be banned. Individuals that smoke cigarettes in public places might
become a bad example for children. Many parents enjoy taking their children to the mall, park, and the
even the pool. However, when a parent takes their children to these places, the probability of them
spotting an individual smoking a cigarette is great. Young children might still have a challenging time
with knowing the difference between right and wrong. Therefore, when a young child sees an
individual smoking cigarettes while they are out in a public place, that child might perceive smoking
as something everyone ought to be doing. Also, when an individual is done with their cigarette, most
of the time, they throw it on the ground. A young child might see this and think that they can dispose
of their trash on the ground simply for the fact that they saw an older individual, that was smoking a
cigarette, do just that. Besides young children, teenagers might see an individual that is smoking and
think that it looks cool. If a teenager thinks

First of all, the Mandans wore different clothes from many other tribes in the surrounding area. An
example of this is found where the author of Source A writes Mandan women wore long deerskin

direct motors are one of the best and common belt drives. Direct current are relatively expensive but
they are more advantage in that they offer soft starts and stops; meaning they open or close your

  • 2. The Apostles and the Early Church The Apostles and the Early Church J.Trimble GBST 164 In the Gospel of Matthew the term apostles is only used when introducing the list of twelve apostles commissioned to follow Christ. Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him (Matthew 10:1 4). An apostle is a person sent to accomplish a mission. An apostle represents the one sending and has authority to represent the sender in business, political, or educational situations (T. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gigot). The change of Simon s name by Jesus was significant. As in the case of Abram, Sarai and Jacob, the change of destiny is indicated by the change of name. This name Cephas is taken from the Aramaic vernacular and corresponds to the Greek Peter, Petros, which means a piece of rock a mass of rock detached from the living rock (T. Butler). It is a term which becomes a natural emblem of firmness and stability. It may be hard for us to see the fitness of such a name for a man apparently so unstable; but the fitness was perceived by Christ. Peter wavered often, even while under his Master s eye, and at least once afterward, but he continually became more and more like the rock that Christ wanted him to be and he was indeed a pillar of the church (W.B. Hill). We observe that all the time Christ was with the Twelve, Peter was a leader among them. Occasionally, Christ would select certain ones for special responsibilities; for example: Peter, James and John to witness the raising of Jarius daughter, the transfiguration, and the agony in the garden (G. Stokes). Now, why were these particular men selected on these occasions to be the recipients of special privileges and the bearers of the attendant responsibilities? Certainly not because they possessed greater authority than the other apostles, but because here ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mcadoo Organizational Structure Henry Buggy wrote an article in the Headlines Global News website named, Giants Ben McAdoo Says Eli Manning s Best Football is in Front of Him about the new coach McAdoo, and what he is doing differently with the New York Giants in their off season. In this article, it touches on key terms learned in chapter 15 of Organizational behavior: Improving performance and commitment in the workplace by Colquitt, LePine, and Wesson. Restructuring, trust, survivor s guilt, and company strategy are terms that apply to this article. The article highlights on how the Giants are restructuring their program and getting used to different and new strategies, plans, and ideas in their stable environment with their new head coach McAdoo. Tom Coughlin has been the head coach for the New York Giants football team for the past twelve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McAdoo has seen improvements with his offensive drills in the past two years working as offensive coordinator. He believes by building a new program around offense this will give the outcome of winning games and the team participating in the playoffs. A Company strategy is an organization s objectives and goals, assets to make money (Colquitt, LePine, Wesson, 2015). In the case with the Giants the objectives and goals assets is to win games and make it to the playoffs. McAdoo s objectives and changes consist of, making a new team schedule so that the players will have Mondays off instead of Tuesdays in hopes of resting players more after games (Headlines Global News). • 4. Dr Steinberg Amicus Brief Analysis According to the textbook, Dr. Steinberg and his colleagues wrote an amicus brief regarding the American Psychological Association s stance on the psychological maturity of adolescents. The amicus brief states that adolescents have the right to seek an abortion without any parental consent. The APA believes that adolescents are as mature as adults. Steinberg and his colleagues also believe this to be true. They think adolescents have the skills when it comes to getting an abortion, but when it comes to criminal responsibility adolescents are immature. Do you believe this to be true? Well, in my opinion, I do agree with Steinberg when he says adolescents are immature when it comes to criminal responsibility. However, I do have to disagree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know that there are so many issues that can influence the adolescent s ability to partake in the decision making process such as age, knowledge, and development. If you compare an adult to an adolescent, the adult brain is already developed and capable of making rational, careful decisions. For example, if an adult were to make a decision on abortion, they would carefully weigh all their options, talk about it with close family, friends, and decide what to do next. Where as an adolescent, their brain is still premature, which can effect their decision on abortion. The prefrontal cortex is located in the adolescent s brain, and it is the area of the brain that s not fully developed. This part of the brain controls reasoning, impulses, emotions, forms judgments, and helps people think before they act. Therefore, it plays a huge role for people, especially when having to make such crucial decisions. More often than not, adolescents are less likely to think before they act, and they normally don t consider the consequences of their decision. Whole heartedly, I believe that adolescents are not mentally prepared to make a decision on getting an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of The Green Revolution Introduction: The Green Revolution was a research and development initiative aimed to increase the number of crop yields from the years between 1930 1960 and the subsequent years following them which resulted in the adaptation of various technologies leading to the invention of high yielding varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and new irrigation methods. It has facilitated socio economic changes which have helped in preventing natural calamities due to the ever increasing world population and has provided people with an option of self sustaining and reduced poverty. These credit institutions mortgaged lands to farmers which in turn proved beneficial for these institutions as they could acquire these farms if the farmer was unable to the pay the loan (Ponting, 2007). One of the major advantages of the Green Revolution was that it increased the use of machinery on the farmlands (Bruce Koppel, 1987). Conclusion: Thus, it can be clearly said that the Green Revolution replaced, one way of life with another within a short span of two decades. due to its massive agricultural developments (Parayil, 1992). It was a major achievement when it was implemented in the developing countries as it gave them a sense of food security after the end of the World War 2. It got many people out of poverty and hunger and while this was focussed on, it also dropped down the prices for food, increased migration, generated employment and the increased economy as well. Agriculture research still needs new research to tackle the upcoming problems related to increasing yields to feed the ever growing population and growth of food for the developing countries. Add to that, globalization and trade will make food prices less liable to local food produce and agriculture will not be as important for people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mackenzie King Research Paper Mackenzie King and his Leadership Intro: Strong leadership is taking ownership of a responsibility, willingly, creatively and effectively. Strong leaders provide direction and support through unstable times, think deeply about the future, account everyone s beliefs and opinions, and influence their followers. Every successful leader needs four qualities; confidence, fairness, intelligence and persuasiveness. One of history s strongest leaders was William Lyon Mackenzie King. Mackenzie King is remembered as one of the greatest Canadian leaders in history as he lead the Liberal and Canadian Parliament through the happiest and most troubled times for over two decades. Strong leaders require the character trait of fairness as it shows equal treatment and respect of different opinions, and avoids many conflicts. Mackenzie King demonstrated fairness with the English and French speakers in Canada to unite Canada as one, and to avoid conflicts. For example, when King was first elected in 1921, his major goal was to unite all Canadians, mainly focusing on Protestants and Catholics. A month prior to being elected, King wrote in his diary; A United Canada I made the first consideration...I want farmers, labour, soldiers, business and professions represented, and balance between Protestants, and Catholics. This demonstrates the fairness Mackenzie King shows towards all labour workers and professions as well as both Anglophones and Francophones, even before getting elected. His first consideration is a balance between Protestants and Catholics , which displays the significance fairness has in King s eyes, as it shows that King s first priority is the fairness between the two groups. Specifically, Mackenzie King demonstrates his fairness with French and English during the Conscription Crisis of 1944. To obtain the support from the French, King had pledged The present government believes that conscription of men for overseas service would not be necessary or an effective step. • 7. Cause And Effect Of Titanic Introduction Iceberg right ahead! That one of the most unforgettable quotes from the movie, Titanic . After seeing that movie for the first time I found the Titanic and her famous story, I found the Titanic and very fascinating. Titanic is one of the greatest known maritime disasters in history to this day. She was the grandest, most technologically advanced ship, and safest ship of her time. As you read this report, you will be presented some effects Titanic had on things during her time period as well as in the present that most people may not know about. Body of Research During the time of her construction, Titanic was designed to be the largest, grandest, safest, and most technologically advanced ship during her time. Her designers and engineers set out to build a class of ocean liners that could compete against White Star Line s rival company, Cunard. However, when Titanic, the second of her sister ships sunk on her maiden voyage, it shook the world and it had a major impact on the world and its people. One of the main effects was the effect on safety regulations. Titanic only carried enough lifeboats to sustain roughly half of the passengers and crew on board. At the time, Titanic actually exceeded the amount of the lifeboats required by the British Board of Trade regulations by 10 percent. Although there was room on deck for twice as many lifeboats, the Titanic carried lifeboats for just over half of the passengers and crew on board. The designer of the Titanic had allowed room on deck for two rows of lifeboats, but one row was removed before the voyage began to make the deck more aesthetically pleasing [Rogers and others, 1998]. With outdated British Board of Trade regulations, the Titanic s twenty lifeboats actually exceeded requirements by 10 percent capacity [Refrigerator, 1998]. (Vicki Bassett, par. 21) After Titanic s disaster, the new safety regulations required all ships to carry enough lifeboats to sustain all of the passengers and crew aboard the ship. Moreover, the regulations also specify that the lifeboats had to carry items such as oars, food, drinks, compasses, etc. Following the increase in lifeboats, a mandatory use of wireless ... Scott Fitzgerald chronicles Dick Diver s long descent (or dying fall, [Letters 310]) to ruin at the hands of women. Diver, the novel s protagonist and antagonist, seeks to overthrow feminine power. Dick needs to control the women in his life. To him, women want to be dependent; they are weak, lost souls who need the guidance only a man can give. In turn, women are parasites who feed on him and ultimately destroy his genius. Before Diver becomes involved with woman, he is a Rhodes Scholar and a promising young Psychiatrist. Instead, Diver must increasingly restate the universe for her , as part of her treatment. Nicole follows Dick walking on her hands . She is after all one to whom nothing need be explained and one to whom nothing could be explained . When the dying Mr. Warren requests to see his daughter, Diver claims she is not strong enough to decide the matter for herself (249). Diver consults Franz but does not allow Nicole a say in the situation. Thus, Diver exhibits his controlling character in maintaining the right to make his wife s decisions for her. Nicole has no identity of her own: she identifies herself with Dick and is so dependent on him that she almost wants to be him. So much so that she even wants to become a writer like him: I want to be a fine person like you, Dick, I would study medicine. When Diver once describes his love for Nicole, he calls it a wild submergence of soul, a dipping of all colors into an obscuring dye. • 9. A Professor Of Psychology At A University A professor of psychology at a university in a large metropolitan area would be at risk of violating several codes of ethics if he tells his abnormal psychology class that he is a psychotherapist in private practice and that they can come to him for therapy during the duration of the semester. Several problems can occur as a result of the professor s solicitation of his service as a psychotherapist to his students (5.6, American Psychological Association, 2002). By assuming two professional roles with his students the professor is clearly engaged in multiple relationships (3.5, American Psychological Association, 2002). The students are at risk of being exploited by their professor. The professor has knowledge of his student s deepest thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. This personal information can be used to manipulate the student s behavior in a classroom setting (3.8, American Psychological Association, 2002). If the professor is aware of a student s fear of public speaking the professor can possibly use this information to punish the student. The students may also feel that their therapy session influences the outcome of their psychology class. The students may feel that they received a bad grade or a good grade because of the outcome of their therapy session. This creates pressure for the students to regulate their therapy session in accordance to what they think will affect their grade in class. This can lead to a lack of willingness to share ... It is illustrated as being different variations of capitalism outside the United States; there is the Dutch version, the French version, the British version, as well as the American version. American capitalism implements free market ideology and that makes the U.S. stand out among other nations. Throughout The Golden Compass, there have been many encounters with Lyra and the Gyptians, and the people of Jordan College with her as well. Imagine putting yourself in Lyra s shoes, interacting with the Gyptians and the people of Jordan College. What are some reasons why the interactions between them is different from each other? While you re reading, think about those reasons you came up with, and compare them to the reasons in the essay. Furthermore, the ensuing of this essay will include the relationship between Lyra and Jordan College, and the relationship between Lyra and the Gyptains, all compared and contrasted in three ways with textual evidence from the novel. In like manner, Lyra then packs her stuff and then proceeds to start living with Mrs. Coulter in London. She brings an alethiometer (suggested by Master) and goes all by herself with Mrs. Coulter to her flat. This affects the plot as Lyra would find out that Mrs. Coulter is a gobbler, and she runs away. Comparing Smartphone Vs Smart Phones Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate with each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones. Instead of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all can be done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs, however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhone can and more. However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it has everything the iPhone has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is important because people will know when to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been assigned to a specific person. First of all, Samsungs have better and longer lasting battery life than iPhones do. Samsungs also have the ability to remove the battery from the phone and it also has fast charging so that the phone can be used as many times as needed without the problem of the battery running out. Irony In The Summoner s Chaucer carefully shows us the Summoner, quaking with anger, after hearing the Friar s Tale, and those pious readers who might have thought that the Friar s Tale veered close to the line of blasphemous sin would likely have been straight out offended by the Summoner s. It is a bilious, aggressive tale which does not even consider pulling its punches, and the Friar s contempt is roundly quyt with a full on, unrelenting attack from the Summoner. Anality is a key ingredient in the tale, potentially a reference to the possible interpretation of the General Prologue which argues that the Summoner and Pardoner are engaged in a homosexual relationship. Regardless of whether this reading is accepted, the prologue begins with a journey into the devil s arse, and the tale finds its resolution with the division of a fart, first from Thomas arse, and then from the friar s. This journey from arse to arse is only one of several ways in which the Summoner s Tale mechanically closes in on itself, in precisely the way that the friar within it manages to bring about his own humiliation. There is a neat irony in the way that the friar, after a lengthy lecture about anger management and doing away with ire (anger) then becomes absolutely furious, looking as if he were a wilde boor .
