An Advanced Business Degree Essay
Three Pillars Essay
There has been a number of years between completing my bachelor s of science in engineering and
my pursuit of an MBA degree. What began as a one year break from school turned into marriage,
raising a family and all of the responsibilities that accompany life. Nevertheless, the desire never left
me and the opportunity to pursue this degree has been one of the best decisions I have made. Although
my background is in engineering, one of my most compelling passions have been in the area of
teaching and mentoring. The pursuit of an advanced business degree usually means learning the skills
necessary to enter into corporate America with the opportunity for high salaries and profit sharing;
however, the skills obtained from an MBA degree can prepare graduates for career changes that may
not actually include business in the common sense of the word. Though the education industry is not
known for doling out high salaries, business students seem to be increasingly seeking jobs in the
policy, technology, and management of education, say education professionals and business students
(Wecker, 2012). Thesis Statement: As one actively in pursuit of a Masters in Business Administration,
the vision of my career efforts is to promote leadership development within the context of education
administration, incorporate new growth opportunities within the institution and surrounding
community, as well as promote the spirit of

Milton Friedman And Milton Keynes
There have been different views from John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and central banks
when it comes to inflation. However, what both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman can agree
on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil. Moreover, the central banks interpret inflation as
moderate being the fact that some inflation is seen to them as tolerable. Historically, Friedman and
Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put
forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest rates to stabilize an
economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in control of inflation by the amount of
spending produced between goods and services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to
Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to
take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept between
1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with in other countries would
be the change in political views and how much power the government has over central banks to
control cash flow throughout their respective countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing
with poor decisions made by government leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In
many underdeveloped countries, there have been a lot struggles even until present day where

Biometric Essay
Biometrics is used in many places and there is a bright future for them. Coca Cola has recently
replaced time card system with hand scanning machines. Finger print scanners are being used in many
states of the US. They have been used to trace social welfare fraud. An iris pattern identification
system is being used in Cook County, Illinois to ensure that right people are released from jail. ATM
machines have been installed with finger scanners to prevent theft and fraud in Indiana (Jain, 2005).
The world s major credit card companies are using finger scanning devices to protect credit card

The technology is many years away from development. Blood pulses on a finger can be measured by
new biometric systems. This technology is currently under development. Nail bed identification is
based on identifying distinct spatial arrangement beneath the fingernail. Gait recognition is another
technology which is under development. This recognizes individuals by their distinctive walk and
captures a sequence of images to derive and analyze motion characteristics. The technology is
currently under development and its complete potential and limitations can be fully assessed. Many
biometric identification systems are being developed and tested (Woodward, 2005).
Biometric technologies are getting better and finely tuned. The rate of false readings and errors has
sharply fallen. However it still requires careful consideration and planning to implement a biometric
identification system. They are most costly and complicated to implement as compared with other
authentication systems. A proper evaluation of the system is important before purchasing any
biometric system. A thorough risk analysis is necessary. In many cases biometrics may be overkill.
Biometrics must be used if there is high level of risk involved. Customer acceptance is also important
when logging on to company websites. Home users might not be ready to install biometrics on home
computers for online banking.
Another consideration is where the digital data and templates will be stored. The

Leonardo Da Vinci Biography Essay
When people think of the Renaissance, one of the first to come to mind is Leonardo da Vinci. Born in
1452, da Vinci was the child of Ser Piero, a legal notary, and Caterina, a peasant. There is little
information of da Vinci s childhood. Until the age of five, he lived with his mother in the village of
Anchiano. He would then go to live with his father in the town of Vinci. Leonardo never had any
formal education, however, he was taught reading, Latin, and mathematics at home. As a young adult,
da Vinci was fascinated by the outside world. He had a particular fascination by water and how it
moved, as well as birds of prey, particularly how they flew. At the age of fifteen, da Vinci would begin
apprenticing under the artist Verrochio in Florence, Italy. This is where he would start his painting
career. In time, Verrochio would ask Leonardo in assisting him in painting The Baptism of Christ. Da
Vinci painted the two angels in the corner so well that it proved his skill to be far superior to
Verrochio. Da Vinci s skill was so great that Verrochio vowed never to paint again. Five years later, at
the age of twenty, da Vinci was given the rank of master in the Guild of Saint Luke, a group of
renowned artists and doctors.

It was here that he painted the Battle of Anghiari, the Leda and the Swan, and the Mona Lisa. It was
also during this time that Leonardo started to think outside painting. Even though it was never used,
Leonardo created plans for a canal that would connect Florence, Italy to the sea. Da Vinci would also
begin to delve into the anatomy of the human body and other scientific studies. It was not until he
returned to Milan that his scientific studies would truly become remarkable. Over time, he developed
an overall understanding of all the organs in the human body, and how they

Harlem native whose father was killed when he was only 3 years old, rose from the mean streets to the
top of the music business (AP wire, March 18). It is true that he started from scratch, and I don t think

pursuing his career as a vocalist, Combs was a business minded Howard University student and an

1997 was the year that the tiger was let loose on the hip hop scene, and it has never been the same

looked like a catastrophe for the label was actually a godsend. The shooting in March of 24 year old

charts were either by, featuring, or about The Notorious B.I.G. (Cox News, Nov. 28). Combs and
Wallace, joined by 19 year old protégé rapper MA$E, were at the top of the charts almost the entire
year. Nothing prepared the label for the biggest selling single to come. Combs and R B super

Comparing Pride And Prejudice And Our Mutual Friend, By...
During the 19th century, men were the ones who typically proposed to women. However, men did not
solely ask for their hand in marriage, they also had to formulate something to say. In the books Pride
and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens, there are two men who
decide to propose to someone they take liking in. Those men are William Collins who proposes to
Elizabeth Bennett (Pride and Prejudice) and Bradley Headstone who proposes to Lizzie Hexam.
Although both of the men s proposal resulted in rejection, one of the proposals had better diction than
the other. The ideas such as bringing up [their significant other s] reputation or having true love for
[their significant lover] may indicate to the women they are truly sincere. Due to the time period s
typical romances, there were a limited amount of things a woman and man can do with each other in
public. Specifically, the men and women were not allowed to kiss, go on dates alone, or hold hands.

persuasiveness of the speaker, which also creates strengths and weaknesses between the proposals.
Despite the fact that both men were denied of their hand in marriage, they both had strengths in their
proposals. In Charles Dickens story, William Collins professes to Lizzie Hexam, I love you. What
other men mean, I cannot tell; what I mean is that I am under the influence of some tremendous
attraction which I have resisted in vain and which overmasters me. By saying this, he conveys a

The Child Rearing, Education And Other Fields
Burrhus Frederic Skinner was born in 1904 Pennsylvania. After graduating Hamilton College, he
wanted to become an author, but without any avail. Pavlov and Watson s work encouraged him to
attend Harvard graduate school where he studied behavior. He made changes in the rate of behavior a
standard measure of learning: made the individual, rather that the group, the object of experimental
study; and suggested ways that a natural science of behavior could be applied to medicine, work, child
rearing, education and other fields (Learning and Behavior pg#136 137). Skinner worked with rats by
placing them in boxes and providing them with different reinforcements. He would teach them a
different behavior by providing obstacles in order to shape those behaviors. Positive reinforcement
strengthens a behavior by providing a consequence an individual finds rewarding
(simplypsychology.org). The reinforcement was the food The rats quickly learned to go straight to the
lever after a few times of being put in the box. The consequence of receiving food if they pressed the
lever ensured that they would repeat the action again and again (simplypsychology.org). When I
became a mother, I always knew that by rewarding my children with praises or food it would make
them feel special. But I had no idea on how it would shape their behavior. My first child, Anna (who is
now 16 years old) was always good. I could go to the store with her, give her a toy to play with at the
store and she would

Abstract
CNX Nifty being an important barometer to indicate country s growth has always been followed with
lots of interest from both academia and industry. Now, CNX Nifty could be predicted or not on a
random basis gives rise to many a questions. This sounds redolent with any predictive modeling
though with a certain degree of accuracy in built in to the system. The major point of consideration is
that predictive modeling could be done by various measures and mechanisms. In predictive modeling
Multiple Adaptive Regression (MARS), Classification and Regression Trees (CART), Logistic OLS or
Non Linear OLS could be used. Here in this study the researcher has utilized Neural Network as a
Predictive Modeler to predict CNX Nifty closing on certain random time zones under consideration.

How Did Paul Klee Influence Contemporary Artists
Paul Klee s artwork remains a constant controversy in subject matter and validity of uniqueness. In
order for one to analyze and critique his work, one would have to understand the metamorphosis of his
life experiences, which influenced his creative philosophy and images he chose to express. His diverse
body of work cannot be confined to any particular artistic movement. In seeking to develop his
personal style, he produced a body of work embodying Impressionism, Cubism, Constructivism, and
abstraction which influenced the works of 20th century contemporary artists. Evident throughout his
oeuvre, the inspiration of contemporary artists and his ideologies of rhythmic structures and the
spiritual nature of artistic expression determined the art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

traveled to Italy and Paris where he was inspired by the antiquities of Rome and studied the Old
Masters in the Louvre. In Germany he was attentive of the Munich exhibitions of Impressionists and
Post Impressionists painting and was particularly intrigued by the works of van Gogh, Cézanne, and
Matisse (Temkin). In 1912, he viewed the work of Cubists and Italian Futurists in exhibitions and was
compelled by the color theories of Robert Delaunay s art (Rodgers). During the outbreak of World
War I, Klee was enlisted to serve in the military where he produced work exploring expressionist
qualities (Temkin). In 1921, he taught at an art school commonly known as Bauhaus. His teachings
reflect his artistic philosophy and study of pictorial and color theories in modern art (Rodgers). During
the rise of the Nazi regime in 1931, he was an instructor at the Düsseldorf art academy. He was

Safety/Fall Prevention
Who needs to be concerned about safety?
Safety strategies to protect your bones are important for individuals of all ages. It is imperative for
everyone to protect their bones and overall health by wearing seatbelts in any moving vehicle and by
using appropriate protective equipment when participating in sports. If you have been diagnosed with
osteoporosis, you may be more likely to break a bone as a result of a fall. In fact, most broken bones
happen as a result of a fall. Falls happen for many reasons, most of which can be avoided.
How common are Falls?

A falls risk assessment is recommended as part of a routine medical examination for all older adults as
well as for individuals with medical conditions that effect gait and balance. If you have a history of

imperative to speak to your healthcare provider about your personal risks for falling and about the fall
prevention steps you should take to protect your bones.
1.3 When circumstances could lead to more injury, risk of head or spinal injury and if it causes danger

Drunken Driving Accidents And The Biggest Party Of The Year
Introduction It was the end of the biggest party of the year. Everyone is leaving now, man did we have
a blast. I m getting into my car now about to head home proud of myself because I promised my
mother I would not drink tonight. As I pulled onto the road a red car hit me head on. I must have
blacked out because I am lying on the ground and all I can hear are the police, paramedics and sirens
all around me. Then I think I heard one of them say, the guy who hit her was drunk. As I lay in this
pool of blood all of it belonging to me the guy who hit me is fine all he had was minor cuts and
bruises. He is now handcuffed walking to the police cruiser staring at me lying here dying, all of this
his fault. As I m taking my last breaths I m wondering why I am lying here dying and I wasn t the one
drinking and driving.
ALCOHOLISM
Drunken driving accidents are one of the leading causes of death of teens. Whether they are the driver
or just in the car with someone. Alcoholism plays a big role in this. With it being a chronic and
progressive disease there can be many different symptoms, causes, and risk factors and complications
that can be associated with alcoholism. It can include difficulty regulating how much alcohol you
drink. Also having many problems in life because of continuous drinking and getting drunk. If you
have alcoholism you may need to seek professional help to quit drinking. People who have alcoholism

The Missouri River Change
Reasons for Current Situation All of the 3,350 miles of riverine habitat within the pallid sturgeon s
range have been affected by man. Approximately 28% has been impounded, which has created
unsuitable lake like habitat; 51% has been channelized into deep, uniform channels; the remaining
21% is downstream of dams which have altered the river s hydrograph, temperature and turbidity.
Commercial fishing and environmental contaminants may have also played a role in the pallid
sturgeon s decline. The resultant changes to the Missouri River in the upper Great Plains from
channelization prevent upstream migration. The reduced water flow rates and sediment loads have
brought an end to the seasonal flooding of the flood plains in the region. ... Show more content on

Restoration of woody debris in native rivers may help the recovery effort. The states in which pallid
sturgeon live have adopted a variety of fisheries regulations to protect individuals of the species.
North Dakota, South Dakota, and Louisiana require live release of all sturgeon, Montana and Kansas
do not allow commercial harvest of sturgeon. Given the long time to maturity and intervals between
spawns, loss of any individual is detrimental. The need to determine the most likely areas of
spawning, to identify any parasite or disease that may be impacting the reproductive capabilities of
pallid sturgeon, and to examine engineering possibilities that may permit recreation of suitable
habitats without reducing the USFWS s ability to protect people from harmful and destructive
flooding, and to maintain its ability to provide adequate water impoundment for irrigation and
recreation purposes is essential. In Missouri wild pallid sturgeon larvae were collected in 1998. These
nonhatchery raised larvae were the first recovered on the lower Missouri River in the previous 50
years.

English Language Learners Lit. Review
Classroom Engagement, Home Connections, and ELL Students

Washington State University
Literature Review
This literature review is my work in progress for my master`s final project at Washington State
University. My chair Dr.Tom Salsbury recommended some of the articles that I included in this
literature review. The key words are engagement, motivation, English language Learners, reading,
struggling readers, parent involvement, home literacy, literacies, home school connections, and funds
of knowledge.
Introduction
Of all student populations (aside from participants in Special Education programs), English Language
Learners (ELLs) face the most academic challenges especially on standardized evaluations
emphasizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have noticed students have a short concentration span (of approximately 4 or 5 minutes) when doing
academic activities. During math exercises, ELLs have also showed that it can be particularly difficult
to solve basic addition, subtraction and multiplication when compared to the other students in class.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that shape my students attitudes towards literacy and
numeracy. I am especially interested in investigating home school connections to explore the influence
of family and community literacy practices on my students academic development. Taking these
factors into consideration, I want to see how an intervention based on the integration of home based
skills and activities in the classroom affects the students motivation when doing academic activities. A
specific intervention that can be applied includes having ELL students assist in the designing of
classroom activities based on their interests.
Background Theory literacy instruction. Cummins (2011) highlights research evidence that suggests
that schools can significantly reduce the negative academic effects that abound in socioeconomically
disadvantaged contexts (Kozal, 1992, 2006) by ensuring that students have access to a rich print
environment and become actively engaged with literacy. Cummins (2011) work implies that policies

Most Appropriate Measure Of Center Of Statistical Data
The most appropriate measure of center of this data set would be the median, or the arithmetic
average. The median would be more suitable because the mean is more heavily influenced by outliers.
In a skewed distribution, the mean would be pulled more towards the tail of the data where outliers
exist, and the average value would be greater than that of the median. In this case, using the 1.5 x IQR
rule, any departure time less than 19.5 or greater than 16.5 is an outlier. Hence, with multiple outliers
present in the data, the median would not be influenced as heavily as the mean by outliers, and would
give a more accurate representation of the average value of the set. (Refer to spreadsheet). The
measure of variation that corresponds with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a point value is indicated by an equal or positive sign, this shows that the flight departed on time or
late. The chosen random variable would be discrete. Although the data set is a large sample size of 500
values, it is still possible to list out all the outcomes of the data as a fixed set and assign probabilities
to them. The values for departure delay times are also inputted as whole positive and negative integers
with no decimal values. Decimal values are characteristic of a continuous random variable for an
infinite sample space. Therefore, this another indicator that a discrete random variable would be ideal
for a finite sample space. The binomial distribution would be suitable for the underlying distribution
of X because a data point must either lie within or outside of the interval of a delayed departure.
Hypothetically, if a value lies outside the range of 10 and 130, then this would mean that the flight will
cancelled. A flight cannot depart to its destination too early or too late, as it would be considered an
unreliable flight. Therefore, any time of departure that exceeds 10 or 130 cannot exist. The probability
that a flight will depart early or on time is 71.0%. The probability that a flight will arrive late is
36.0%. The probability that a flight departs late or arrives early is 83.4%. Compared to each individual

Iberians And Indigenous People In The 15th To 16th Century
Death. Rape. Torture. Enslavement. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples
endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish
empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the
Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoples as naïve and inferior
because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity
and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the Indigenous peoples
were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of the Indigenous peoples
but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted Christianity. Iberians had
new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established advanced societies and ways of
life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians, specifically Christopher Columbus,
an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of the Americas, believed, ...they would
easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed (RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous
peoples needed guidance as they were capable of redemption and conversion. As a result of the arrival
of the Portuguese in Brazil, Iberians went as far as to paint one of the first appearances of an
Indigenous person in a European painting. In the painting, Magi in Brazil by Vasco Fernandes

Comparing the Presentation of War in the Oliver and...
Comparing the Presentation of War in the Oliver and Branagh Film Versions of Henry the Fifth Many
films have been made of Shakespeare s play, Henry V . The two I am analysing are by Laurence
Olivier (1944) and Kenneth Branagh (1988). They are made for very different audiences with different
aims. Although they seem very different, in some ways, Branagh s version used many techniques of
Olivier s. Both productions were performed to communicate the director s feelings on war to the
audience and were performed when war had played a part in recent history. Olivier s version is very
pro war in that he glorifies war but at the same time it lacks realism so that it was not too close to the
reality that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spirit of whose ancestors it has been humbly attempted to recapture. This is intended to make the
audience feel proud to be fighting for England as their ancestors did. Being produced during the
Second World War, many of the viewers may have had relatives out in battle. They had no clear idea
of the reality due to the lack of technology and communication. The light hearted view of the battles
reassured the audience. It is shown very patriotically and heroically so the audiences would feel good
about the war and have felt proud to be English. The French in this film may have represented the
Germans in the war as the enemy. In the battle the enemy is shown as evil to make the audience feel
they re doing the right thing fighting evil. Branagh s film was set many years later when society was
more immune to shocking films and television programmes. He presents a dynamic king duped into
fighting a bloody, vicious war whose victory is undone within a generation. Olivier s version is quite
pro war whereas Branagh s version seems very anti war. This film portrays his negative attitude to war
by emphasising the realism of the battle. The gore and realistic fighting will have shocked the
audience and may have allowed them to consider the conditions in Vietnam. For example in the battle
of Agincourt, the close up individual fighting will have made

Pope Boniface Viii s Challenges To The King
Pope Boniface VIII s Challenges to the Kingship of Philip s
Pope Boniface VIII wrote the bulls, Clericis Laicos in 1296 and Unam Sanctam in 1302, to affirm and
perform the papal supremacy over his ecclesiastical persons and the kings, Philip IV of France and
Edward I of England. Both bulls consist of the decrees that restrain the rulers from enforcing their
derogatory authority over Christians: one forbids prelates and churchmen to pay the tax that laymen
heavily imposed on them: the latter one demands suspected clergies under the papal jurisdiction,
furthermore insisting the pope s total authority over his churchmen in France. Philip had knocked off
Clericis Laicos by depriving Boniface of a major revenue source, yet the pope again threw down the
gauntlet against the rulers with the new threat of excommunication. Although both bulls indicate the

According to Clericis Laicos , Boniface criticized and opposed to Philip for his unethical scheme to
take over the churchmen s possession to continue his dishonest war with England. Since Philip needed
a tremendous amount of money to prepare for the war, he overtaxed his people including clergies
without any exception. However, Boniface considered Philip s preparation of the war as a plot to
pursue his power over the church s possessions. Therefore, he denounced the king s overtaxation on
the churchmen as though he suspected the king of striving to subject the churchmen to slavery and
bring them under his control. (Robinson) However, Boniface mildly reacted to the heavy taxation on
the clergies in which he merely forbade them to pay their tax rather than directly objecting to the king.
With indignation toward Boniface s reaction, Philip threatened to jolt Apostolic Palace in an
economical way. Therefore, it was inevitable for him to withdraw his hand from Clericis

John Quincy Adams Essay
John Quincy Adams
John Quincy Adams was the only son of a president to become president. He had an impressive

James Madison then appointed him to minister to Russia in 1809. He continued to serve his country

Richard Brannon Generative Reasoning Perspective
This essay, in part, is set out to investigate how, and to what extent Richard Branson s strategic
methods relates to De Wit and Meyer s (2004) description of generative reasoning perspective and
rational reasoning perspective. An analysis based comparison between generative reasoning
perspective and rational reasoning perspective will present arguments on how the methodologies
between the two types of strategic thinking perspectives fuels the debate over which approach to
strategy may not only more effective, but also correlates to Branson s own strategic thinking method.
Secondly, a discussion on whether Richard Branson is a characteristic design thinker as described by
Liedtka will be put forth as well as an examination as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is further argued by advocates of RRP that such reasoning strongly resembles the problem solving
approach of chess grand masters (Simon, 1987). This argument opens up certain views that RRP
revolves around a central theme that when dealing with strategic thinking, deductive and inductive
logic is commonly used.
Yet again with the use of Table 1 (Appendix 1), characteristics on RRP can be recognized. With this
information, we can start to identify to what extent Branson fits in with the RRP model. Arguably,
RRP is seen as more of a figurative way of thinking whereby decisions are based primarily on factual
information. With this understanding, Branson periodically demonstrates a RRP way of strategizing on
how he performs business.
The first clear example of Branson using the RRP is shown in the case study whereby he uses factual
based reasoning in regards to his efforts of expanding the product line of his company to different
areas in the market. Branson used analytical data stating that 96 percent of the United Kingdom
recognized the Virgin logo. Branson used the Virgin logo to help diversify into other currently
booming industries around the United Kingdom and other parts of the world (i.e. book publishing,
computer game development, soft drink manufacturing, cinemas and even financial services).
Arguably Branson would not have endeavored into this mode of expansion so quickly if he had not

Essay about The War of 1812
The War of 1812
On June 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain. The peace treaty to end the war
was signed in Europe, 1814. The war lasted from 1812 to the spring of 1815 because there was a delay
in communications. It was fought along the Canadian border, along with several sea battles. By the
time the war was over the United States lost 2,260 soldiers, and the British 1,600 soldiers. The war of
1812 was a very significant event that took place in the U.S. It did in fact confirm America s
independence. That is why it is often referred to as the second war of independence or the second
revolutionary war.

The British maritime policy was influenced by it s jealousy of America s commercial growth. Even
though both France and Britain violated the United States neutral rights on the seas, the United States
resented Britain maritime policies more because they dominated the seas. The U.S. tried to peacefully
change the policies of the European powers. There would not be a British maritime policy if it had not
been for the war with France. The policy was intended to destroy Frances economy.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navy expanded to 175 ships of the line and 600 ships overall,
requiring 140,000 sailors. The Royal Navy turned to impressments when it didn t have enough able
bodies to man the ships. The Royal Navy went after Royal Navy Veterans or deserters who had left
and became sailors in the United States merchant navy by intercepting and searching U.S merchant
ships. Britain also considered any U.S. citizen born in British liable for impressments. The inability to
distinguish Americans from non Americans due to a wide spread of use of false identity led to frequent
impressments of Americans that had never been British. This became a major grievance.
The United States attempted to change the European policies by the Embargo Act of 1807, after the
Chesapeake affair of 1807. The Embargo Act banned all American ships from foreign trade.

The Evil Power in the book was controlled by the devil, who had a Hideous Strength. The book built
up tension and power throughout the plot, which was all released at the end when God sent his wrath
on the evil sinners of the world. This is a picture of the world nowadays. Sinners are thriving and Evil
is growing. Everything is so crooked and backwards, that the Good might begin to lose hope.
However it has always been Gods will for the Good to win, and so it will. In this book I can relate to
Mark Studdock. I am a wicked sinner like him and I fall into the blinding temptation all the time, just
like when Mark was tempted to joining N.I.C.E. God has come in, however, and lifted me out of my
sin, as he did for Mark during his custody at Belbury. Those shades have been dropped off of my eyes,
and I can clearly see the power, glory, and terror of God. In Romans 12:17, the Bible says Do not be

The Conservative Heart Analysis
Arthur Brooks book The Conservative Heart How to Build a Fairer, Happier and More Prosperous
America represents a challenge to the established view of Conservatives and Republicans regarding
America s social issues. Many Americans feel caught between two dispiriting political choices:
ineffective compassion on one hand and heartless pragmatism on the other. While
Democrats/Progressives have always provided this ongoing narrative of party who were once the
champions of the underprivileged; collapsed in the 2016 elections. The Progressive message was
clearly understood as identity politics not the champions of the underdog as promised. However,
Conservatives who can provide the better solutions to poverty were tagged with a variety of labels,
such as non compassionate or out of touch. Conservatives have been notoriously marked as the
country club concerned about their own wealth preservation. Unfortunately, until the 2016 election,
conservatives failed to message their solutions to America s poverty. I personally felt that the author

Essay On College Is Not Worth A Degree
College, Is it worth it?
To most people college is their goal at succeeding in life. Whether you get a scholarship or pay
yourself, college is expensive. To some it is a waste of time and money due to the fact that, graduates
are not getting their money s worth in their degree, they are burdened by student loans, and their
degree does not guarantee them a job. With that and a growing tuition rate, most people can t afford a
higher education. College is simply not worth the cost anymore.
With the rise in minimum wage nationwide, things cost a lot more. That doesn t mean you have
$42,500 to pay for college yearly,(CNBC 2015). That s a lot of money if you re not working. Even
state colleges are charging $19,000(CNBC 2015). And considering you re going to need a loan, That s
going to add to our nationwide student loan debt of 1.2Trillion,(CNBC 2015). But due to the fact that
you could earn enough money to pay back all that debt, it is still appealing to most people. The thing
is going to college is a lot like gambling. You go hoping that you can get your degree, and earn more

Leonardo Da Vinci And His Contributions To Western...
An Analysis of Leonardo da Vinci and
His Contributions to Western Civilization
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous artists to have ever lived, and his contributions to the
development of western civilization are irrefutable. Born on April 15, 1452, near Florence, Italy, one
would not have guessed that he was destined for a life of greatness. He was the illegitimate child of an
up and coming notary and a peasant girl, and he spent most of his childhood with his doting father (
Da Vinci The Renaissance Man. ). At the age of 15, he became an apprentice in the workshop of
Andrea del Verrochio, where his undeniable talent soon became apparent. He remained an apprentice
until 1477, when he left to explore other opportunities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then drew vertical lines and a single horizontal line, known as the horizon line. The vertical lines
connected at the vanishing point, in the center of the horizon, giving the illusion of distance and depth
to the two dimensional canvas. Despite the relative simplicity of the method, the results were
revolutionary at the time ( Linear Perspective ).
Linear perspective was not the only tool that da Vinci employed to better his art; da Vinci s excellent
understanding of human anatomy allowed for more life like and three dimensional figures in his
paintings. It is believed that da Vinci s interest in human anatomy began during his apprenticeship
under Verrochio (Heydenreich). Leonardo expressed a fascination with the skeletal and muscular
structures of the human form, and eventually researched the internal organs as well. Da Vinci even
received permission by the Republic of Florence to dissect corpses for research purposes. He
performed dissections on men, women, and fetuses, racking up a total of about 30 dissections, only
ceasing his studies when the Pope forbade him from continuing. (Heydenreich).
In addition to dissecting cadavers to research the human form and its mechanics, Leonardo da Vinci
sketched his findings and published some of them. The most famous of these sketches is the Vitruvian
Man, which da Vinci drew to show that the human form is proportional in the context of circles and
squares.

Calley was described to be an average officer. His training was cut short and sent to Vietnam. The

members that had been seen in past wars. The overall culture of the war was very different. The war
also used indiscriminant bombings with napalm. Villages were destroyed even with civilians in them
just to eliminate a few Viet Cong fighters.

  • 2. An Advanced Business Degree Essay Three Pillars Essay There has been a number of years between completing my bachelor s of science in engineering and my pursuit of an MBA degree. What began as a one year break from school turned into marriage, raising a family and all of the responsibilities that accompany life. Nevertheless, the desire never left me and the opportunity to pursue this degree has been one of the best decisions I have made. Although my background is in engineering, one of my most compelling passions have been in the area of teaching and mentoring. The pursuit of an advanced business degree usually means learning the skills necessary to enter into corporate America with the opportunity for high salaries and profit sharing; however, the skills obtained from an MBA degree can prepare graduates for career changes that may not actually include business in the common sense of the word. Though the education industry is not known for doling out high salaries, business students seem to be increasingly seeking jobs in the policy, technology, and management of education, say education professionals and business students (Wecker, 2012). Thesis Statement: As one actively in pursuit of a Masters in Business Administration, the vision of my career efforts is to promote leadership development within the context of education administration, incorporate new growth opportunities within the institution and surrounding community, as well as promote the spirit of ... • 3. Milton Friedman And Milton Keynes There have been different views from John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and central banks when it comes to inflation. However, what both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman can agree on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil. Moreover, the central banks interpret inflation as moderate being the fact that some inflation is seen to them as tolerable. Historically, Friedman and Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest rates to stabilize an economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in control of inflation by the amount of spending produced between goods and services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept between 1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with in other countries would be the change in political views and how much power the government has over central banks to control cash flow throughout their respective countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing with poor decisions made by government leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In many underdeveloped countries, there have been a lot struggles even until present day where government leaders ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Biometric Essay Biometrics is used in many places and there is a bright future for them. Coca Cola has recently replaced time card system with hand scanning machines. Finger print scanners are being used in many states of the US. They have been used to trace social welfare fraud. An iris pattern identification system is being used in Cook County, Illinois to ensure that right people are released from jail. ATM machines have been installed with finger scanners to prevent theft and fraud in Indiana (Jain, 2005). The world s major credit card companies are using finger scanning devices to protect credit card information and save the consumer from credit card fraud. Blood pulses on a finger can be measured by new biometric systems. This technology is currently under development. Nail bed identification is based on identifying distinct spatial arrangement beneath the fingernail. Gait recognition is another technology which is under development. This recognizes individuals by their distinctive walk and captures a sequence of images to derive and analyze motion characteristics. The technology is currently under development and its complete potential and limitations can be fully assessed. Many biometric identification systems are being developed and tested (Woodward, 2005). Biometric technologies are getting better and finely tuned. The rate of false readings and errors has sharply fallen. However it still requires careful consideration and planning to implement a biometric identification system. They are most costly and complicated to implement as compared with other authentication systems. A proper evaluation of the system is important before purchasing any biometric system. A thorough risk analysis is necessary. In many cases biometrics may be overkill. Biometrics must be used if there is high level of risk involved. Customer acceptance is also important when logging on to company websites. Home users might not be ready to install biometrics on home computers for online banking. Another consideration is where the digital data and templates will be stored. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Leonardo Da Vinci Biography Essay When people think of the Renaissance, one of the first to come to mind is Leonardo da Vinci. Born in 1452, da Vinci was the child of Ser Piero, a legal notary, and Caterina, a peasant. There is little information of da Vinci s childhood. Until the age of five, he lived with his mother in the village of Anchiano. He would then go to live with his father in the town of Vinci. Leonardo never had any formal education, however, he was taught reading, Latin, and mathematics at home. As a young adult, da Vinci was fascinated by the outside world. He had a particular fascination by water and how it moved, as well as birds of prey, particularly how they flew. At the age of fifteen, da Vinci would begin apprenticing under the artist Verrochio in Florence, Italy. This is where he would start his painting career. In time, Verrochio would ask Leonardo in assisting him in painting The Baptism of Christ. Da Vinci painted the two angels in the corner so well that it proved his skill to be far superior to Verrochio. Da Vinci s skill was so great that Verrochio vowed never to paint again. Five years later, at the age of twenty, da Vinci was given the rank of master in the Guild of Saint Luke, a group of renowned artists and doctors. The shooting in March of 24 year old Christopher Wallace boosted the ascent of businessman/producer Sean Puffy Combs, Bad Boy Records. In fact during the summer of 1997, most of the songs on the upper reaches of the music charts were either by, featuring, or about The Notorious B.I.G. (Cox News, Nov. 28). However, men did not solely ask for their hand in marriage, they also had to formulate something to say. In the books Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens, there are two men who decide to propose to someone they take liking in. Those men are William Collins who proposes to Elizabeth Bennett (Pride and Prejudice) and Bradley Headstone who proposes to Lizzie Hexam. Although both of the men s proposal resulted in rejection, one of the proposals had better diction than the other. The ideas such as bringing up [their significant other s] reputation or having true love for [their significant lover] may indicate to the women they are truly sincere. Due to the time period s typical romances, there were a limited amount of things a woman and man can do with each other in public. • 9. The Child Rearing, Education And Other Fields Burrhus Frederic Skinner was born in 1904 Pennsylvania. After graduating Hamilton College, he wanted to become an author, but without any avail. Pavlov and Watson s work encouraged him to attend Harvard graduate school where he studied behavior. He made changes in the rate of behavior a standard measure of learning: made the individual, rather that the group, the object of experimental study; and suggested ways that a natural science of behavior could be applied to medicine, work, child rearing, education and other fields (Learning and Behavior pg#136 137). Skinner worked with rats by placing them in boxes and providing them with different reinforcements. He would teach them a different behavior by providing obstacles in order to shape those behaviors. Positive reinforcement strengthens a behavior by providing a consequence an individual finds rewarding (simplypsychology.org). The reinforcement was the food The rats quickly learned to go straight to the lever after a few times of being put in the box. The consequence of receiving food if they pressed the lever ensured that they would repeat the action again and again (simplypsychology.org). When I became a mother, I always knew that by rewarding my children with praises or food it would make them feel special. But I had no idea on how it would shape their behavior. My first child, Anna (who is now 16 years old) was always good. I could go to the store with her, give her a toy to play with at the store and she would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I m getting into my car now about to head home proud of myself because I promised my mother I would not drink tonight. As I pulled onto the road a red car hit me head on. I must have blacked out because I am lying on the ground and all I can hear are the police, paramedics and sirens all around me. Then I think I heard one of them say, the guy who hit her was drunk. As I lay in this pool of blood all of it belonging to me the guy who hit me is fine all he had was minor cuts and bruises. He is now handcuffed walking to the police cruiser staring at me lying here dying, all of this his fault. • 15. The Missouri River Change Reasons for Current Situation All of the 3,350 miles of riverine habitat within the pallid sturgeon s range have been affected by man. Approximately 28% has been impounded, which has created unsuitable lake like habitat; 51% has been channelized into deep, uniform channels; the remaining 21% is downstream of dams which have altered the river s hydrograph, temperature and turbidity. Commercial fishing and environmental contaminants may have also played a role in the pallid sturgeon s decline. The resultant changes to the Missouri River in the upper Great Plains from channelization prevent upstream migration. The reduced water flow rates and sediment loads have brought an end to the seasonal flooding of the flood plains in the region. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Restoration of woody debris in native rivers may help the recovery effort. The states in which pallid sturgeon live have adopted a variety of fisheries regulations to protect individuals of the species. North Dakota, South Dakota, and Louisiana require live release of all sturgeon, Montana and Kansas do not allow commercial harvest of sturgeon. Given the long time to maturity and intervals between spawns, loss of any individual is detrimental. The need to determine the most likely areas of spawning, to identify any parasite or disease that may be impacting the reproductive capabilities of pallid sturgeon, and to examine engineering possibilities that may permit recreation of suitable habitats without reducing the USFWS s ability to protect people from harmful and destructive flooding, and to maintain its ability to provide adequate water impoundment for irrigation and recreation purposes is essential. In Missouri wild pallid sturgeon larvae were collected in 1998. These nonhatchery raised larvae were the first recovered on the lower Missouri River in the previous 50 years. I am especially interested in investigating home school connections to explore the influence of family and community literacy practices on my students academic development. Taking these factors into consideration, I want to see how an intervention based on the integration of home based skills and activities in the classroom affects the students motivation when doing academic activities. A specific intervention that can be applied includes having ELL students assist in the designing of classroom activities based on their interests. Background Theory literacy instruction. Cummins (2011) highlights research evidence that suggests that schools can significantly reduce the negative academic effects that abound in socioeconomically disadvantaged contexts (Kozal, 1992, 2006) by ensuring that students have access to a rich print environment and become actively engaged with literacy. The median would be more suitable because the mean is more heavily influenced by outliers. In a skewed distribution, the mean would be pulled more towards the tail of the data where outliers exist, and the average value would be greater than that of the median. In this case, using the 1.5 x IQR rule, any departure time less than 19.5 or greater than 16.5 is an outlier. Hence, with multiple outliers present in the data, the median would not be influenced as heavily as the mean by outliers, and would give a more accurate representation of the average value of the set. Although the data set is a large sample size of 500 values, it is still possible to list out all the outcomes of the data as a fixed set and assign probabilities to them. The values for departure delay times are also inputted as whole positive and negative integers with no decimal values. Decimal values are characteristic of a continuous random variable for an infinite sample space. Therefore, this another indicator that a discrete random variable would be ideal for a finite sample space. The binomial distribution would be suitable for the underlying distribution of X because a data point must either lie within or outside of the interval of a delayed departure. Hypothetically, if a value lies outside the range of 10 and 130, then this would mean that the flight will cancelled. A flight cannot depart to its destination too early or too late, as it would be considered an unreliable flight. Therefore, any time of departure that exceeds 10 or 130 cannot exist. The probability that a flight will depart early or on time is 71.0%. The probability that a flight will arrive late is 36.0%. The probability that a flight departs late or arrives early is 83.4%. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoples as naïve and inferior because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Both bulls consist of the decrees that restrain the rulers from enforcing their derogatory authority over Christians: one forbids prelates and churchmen to pay the tax that laymen heavily imposed on them: the latter one demands suspected clergies under the papal jurisdiction, furthermore insisting the pope s total authority over his churchmen in France. However, Boniface considered Philip s preparation of the war as a plot to pursue his power over the church s possessions. On way out I fired up the laptop and picked up a free wi fi connection at the Murtala Muhammad airport, so I kept myself busy for the hour and half wait for my flight, I can go on and on. The laptops of today are very powerful so the difference in power between a laptop and desktop is decreasing. If you look at it the other way around, I would say a laptop has more advantages over a desktop. At leasts in my humble opinion. Re: Advantages Of Desktop Computers Versus Laptops? by rof lmao: 3:04am On Mar 26, 2007 SMH @ more heat = faster performance ! And what has keyboard, mouse, and monitor got to do? You can easily get your desired ones and plug them into your laptop just like you do your desktop. Battery life is a dodgy claim as well. My laptop runs easily for 3 4hrs on battery and I ve watched two full length DVDs back to back on battery. The legitimate advantages of a desktop have already been stated: cheaper, easier to upgrade or replace components, and less appealing to a thief! But that s price for portability and mobility. The only area desktop owns laptop is advance gaming and other processor intensive applications! Any else and certainly for the average PC user(i.e 90%+ PC users!) the laptop can do as desktop. Things are even getting better with laptops: I read that battery capable of running for 8hrs could soon be in the market, Core Duo and Core 2 Duo and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Survivorship Gap Gender (3a) From Figure 1, we can clearly see a distinct separation in the survivorship curves between males and females of the post 1950 population at around age 51, where females show higher rates of survivorship than males; however, this obvious sex gap does not occur in a pre 1910 comparison of gender mortality. Instead, the pre 1910 survivor ship curves for both genders begin to oscillates near similar survivorship values at age 31, which could be the result of environmental variation during that time period. Nonetheless, the maximum longevity of women surpasses that of men in both populations. • 37. Leonardo Da Vinci And His Contributions To Western... An Analysis of Leonardo da Vinci and His Contributions to Western Civilization Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous artists to have ever lived, and his contributions to the development of western civilization are irrefutable. Born on April 15, 1452, near Florence, Italy, one would not have guessed that he was destined for a life of greatness. He was the illegitimate child of an up and coming notary and a peasant girl, and he spent most of his childhood with his doting father ( Da Vinci The Renaissance Man. ). At the age of 15, he became an apprentice in the workshop of Andrea del Verrochio, where his undeniable talent soon became apparent. He remained an apprentice until 1477, when he left to explore other opportunities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then drew vertical lines and a single horizontal line, known as the horizon line. The vertical lines connected at the vanishing point, in the center of the horizon, giving the illusion of distance and depth to the two dimensional canvas. Despite the relative simplicity of the method, the results were revolutionary at the time ( Linear Perspective ). Linear perspective was not the only tool that da Vinci employed to better his art; da Vinci s excellent understanding of human anatomy allowed for more life like and three dimensional figures in his paintings. It is believed that da Vinci s interest in human anatomy began during his apprenticeship under Verrochio (Heydenreich). Leonardo expressed a fascination with the skeletal and muscular structures of the human form, and eventually researched the internal organs as well. Da Vinci even received permission by the Republic of Florence to dissect corpses for research purposes. He performed dissections on men, women, and fetuses, racking up a total of about 30 dissections, only ceasing his studies when the Pope forbade him from continuing. (Heydenreich). In addition to dissecting cadavers to research the human form and its mechanics, Leonardo da Vinci sketched his findings and published some of them. The most famous of these sketches is the Vitruvian Man, which da Vinci drew to show that the human form is proportional in the context of circles and squares. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After Calley finished high school he decided to go to college but ended up doing poorly. He moved through several jobs unsuccessfully eventually enlisting in the military. With his firm conservative background, it is no surprise that as the Vietnam War grew and he was unsuccessful in all his other endeavors that he would enlist. He went to basic training at Fort Benning then after which he was transferred to Fort Lewis, Washington where he trained as a clerk typist (Biography). Calley applied to Officer Candidate School, was accepted and completed it in 1967. Calley was described to be an average officer. His training was cut short and sent to Vietnam. The Vietnam war was characterized by a lack of public support on the home front, and thus carried over to a war fighting force that was less than happy to be there and even less likely to act like the military members that had been seen in past wars. The overall culture of the war was very different. The war also used indiscriminant bombings with napalm. Villages were destroyed even with civilians in them just to eliminate a few Viet Cong fighters. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
