Cerebral Aneurysm Research Paper
Cerebral aneurysms are pathological localized enlargements of weak blood vessels in the brain
that balloon and fill with blood. These blood vessels can then rupture, sending blood out of the
blood vessel and into the rest of the brain. The damage done by this resulting hemorrhage in the
brain can be fatal. The resulting damage is deadly in 50% of cases with 10,000 deaths due to the
rupturing of cerebral aneurysms in the United States and 500,000 worldwide each year (1).
The most common treatment of these aneurysms is endovascular therapy which can be described
as the filling up of the aneurysm with platinum coils and occluding blood flow to the aneurysm. This
treatment is less invasive than the previous method of an open craniotomy utilized

The Kennett Delta Parade
Parade A parade is a public possession causing some of these to be celebrate for a special day or
event. People can even win prizes for being in them. I attended the Kennett Delta Parade on
September 29th. I really enjoyed watching it! I thought it was the longest parade, but it had so
much entertainment. In summary, the parade included the police department, tractors, modern
cars, floats, marching units, school bands, school clubs, and sport teams from different areas.
The parade even carried the delta fair queen and maids. My favorite section of the parade were
the floats considering some people get so creative decorating. The floats were awarded. First
place won $1000, second place won $600, third place won $450, fourth place won $350, and
fifth place won $250. Some people bring in their competitive side, which makes it really
amusing to watch. At the same time, I felt like I was part of the community when I attended the
Kennett Delta Parade. Parades combine some of my favorite things: community, faith, family,
patriotism, and simply being involved. Events like these bring everyone together. However, I
chose this specific event because I show up every year and really enjoy coming to watch. Not
only is it thrilling, but it also keeps me from staying home. I will continue to attend to this event
in the future because every year it is different. I surely do not plan on missing any of it. The
sensation of the Kennett Delta Fair Parade is something I look forward to every year.

The Life Of The Landscape Essay
The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the
semi arid region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made
way for golden rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry
looking terrain were the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come
as a surprise, but Canada s only desert is home to a growing winecommunity with many award
winning wines being produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos.
As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest
freshwater lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries
are now a member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non profit organization with a
goal to develop the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While
driving through the region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and
learn about their history.
Stoneboat Vineyards
We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting
to anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family
owned winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us,
who together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre orchard in 1979 and planted their first
vines in 1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award

US Military I am familiar with the Infantry and Cavalry division of the military structure and how
to make this division of the US government functional is of crucial importance. First, by the very
definition, the infantry and cavalry division of militaryservice personnel requires a special
mindset. It requires a person who understands that their life as well as others will be in a
dangerous state and at any stage of conflict that has to be a mindset that the individual will be

The recruiting aspect is definitely made more efficient through product and proven ways of
marketing, but our process will take things a step further. We will need to make sure that after
we have a recruit, again that this is the person that is going to fall in line with what we are
ultimately trying to get accomplished. We will put jobs in individual categories. What I mean
by this statement is that though we are looking for people who are going to be infantry and
cavalry ready, we also are going to have different roles in the structure of the unit. While we have
some people who are much more hands on and like to learn by doing, we also are going to have
people who will not necessarily be as hands on but can do a good job of leading by thinking
through issues. This is going to be the basic structure of the group, and with this two types of
structures, we will be able to categorize any job in a blanket way to fall into these areas. We will
use the recruiting process overall along with testing and background to encourage the recruits to
take their careers in the direction that not only will be in our best interest, but also in theirs as well.
Operations The operations side of the unit will be ultimate responsible for making sure the overall
business side of things are running efficiently and effectively

external factors and internal factors. Physician involvement in risk management activities will vary

Genetic testing is a class of medical testing that recognize changes in chromosomes, gene or
proteins. This type of test look for abnormalities in DNA or RNA that is collected from a person s
blood, body fluids or tissues. Genetic testing scans the genes looking for large or small change that
occur to gene. These changes to the genes could have missing or addition parts that could change
the chemical base within the DNAstrand. Abnormal genes could be the result of other mistakes like
the genes are too active, they are turned off, or those that are lost entirely. Having abnormal results

DNA sequencing is a genetic testing that was mentioned in the movie it is used to figure out the

Pre implantation testing is a used on embryos which is also called pre implantation genetic

a small number of cells from the embryos and testing them for certain genetic disorders. To achieve
a healthy pregnancy only the embryos without the genetic disorders are inserted back into the uterus.

Globalisation is supposed to make national cultures and institutions more homogenous. With
reference to BP plc s (British Petroleum s) strategies analyse the possibility that it is old fashioned
to consider the influence of the firm s home country s institutions and culture.
Introduction
In this assignment I will attempt to explore the concept that despite the spread and influence of the
globalization of business and industries on our world s economies and cultures, a large
multinational firm is still influenced in a fundamental way by its home country s institutions and
culture. I will illustrate this discussion with an analysis of the strategies employed by the
multinational energy company BP plc (formally British Petroleum). ... Show more content on

We can observe that British cultural dimensions reflect low power distance tolerance, high
individuality, high masculinity, low tolerance to uncertainty and a short termorientation.
BP plc. (British Petroleum)
When considering which international firm to use as a case study I was curious to apply this
discussion to an industry and firm which is a product of the greatest possible degree of
globalisation. In a world society with a hydrocarbon economy I find it hard to conceive of an
industry more global than that of energy production and thus a multinational oil company.
BP plc, unsurprisingly, is a British company. It was founded in 1908 and owes its early prosperity
to exploitation of Iranian (formally Persian) oilfields, where it continued to operate until the
revolution in Iran in 1979. Although having lost access to the Iranian oilfields, BP plc had
expanded operations to the North Sea and Alaska during the 1960s and 1970s. During the 1980s
the British government sold off its holdings in the company under the privatization drive. At the
end of the decade the company underwent severe corporate restructuring and downsizing. In the
1990s BP plc undertook several corporate acquisitions which resulted in BP becoming the second
largest oil company at that time. Moving forward to the present day, according to the Forbes

Introduction
Missionary expansion throughout the centuries has taken a hard, often violent road. The expansion
of Christianity begins with the adherents of Jesus Christ and ended with the premature demise of
many of the disciples. In the centuries following the disciples, many missionaries were faced with
percussion and death as the gospel was proclaimed. As missionary expansion occurs throughout
the centuries, often times facing trial and difficulty, the question comes up; is the capital cost of
missionary expansion worth the monetary value? This paper will highlight many trials that have
been faced by three missionaries in particular and explain often by the words of these
missionaries why the enormous cost of missionary expansion is worth the cost. The thesis of this
paper is: everyone is called to preach the gospel; the calling of the missionary is called to live by
faith even when facing difficulty.

Increasing trend in Non albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis: Implications in treatment strategies
Introduction:
Cutaneous candidiasis is a secondary infection of the skin (body folds) and nails in predisposed
patients.1 The disease involvement may be localised or generalised to the skin or nails.2
The clinical manifestations of Candidiasis are of three types: mucocutaneous, cutaneous, and
systemic.3 The spectrum of Cutaneous candidiasis (CC): includes intertrigo, diaper candidiasis,
paronychia, and onychomycosis.4 Infections thrush, intertrigo, enterogastritis and others have long
been known to be due to abnormal proliferation of Candida cells.5
Candida species other than C.albicans have become a significant cause of infection in humans.6
Several of these species are less susceptible to commonly used azole antifungal drugs.6
Hence, the identification of the Candida isolates upto species level along with their antifungal
susceptibility patterns can greatly influence the treatment options for the clinicians and may have
an impact on the patient care.7 Hence this study was done.
Aims and objectives:
1.To isolate Candida species from suspected cases of Cutaneous Candidiasis.
2.To speciate the isolated Candida.
3.To find the antifungal susceptibility for voriconazole and fluconazole among the isolates.
Materials Methods:
A total of 200 patients presenting with the symptoms of Cutaneous

Miss Strangeworth s Character
Sometimes people aren t what they seem. Miss Strangeworth seems to be one thing. However, in
the story The Possibility of Evil by Shirly Jackson, we learn some surprising things about her
character. Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she does, what the
narrator says about her, and how other characters interact with her.
The first way Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed is by considering what she does.
Judging by her actions in the story, Miss Strangeworth is friendly. For instance, she greets
everyone she sees each morning. The story states, Walking down Main Street on a summer
morning, Miss Strangeworth had to stop every minute or so to say good morning to someone or ...

By watching the way other characters interact with her, you can see that Miss Strangeworth is
rude. You can see this in the way many of the characters seem as though they don t want to talk
to her. For instance, when Miss Strangeworth asks Mrs. Harper if she s feeling well, Mrs. Harper
responds shortly, I m perfectly alright. By telling us that she responds shortly, the story allows
the reader to see that Mrs. Harper doesn t seem to enjoy talking to Miss Strangeworth. Also, as
Miss Strangeworth was walking down the street, she passed a group of kids, we see that ass she
passed, Some of the older children greeted her, saying soberly, Hello Miss Strangeworth . The
word soberly used in the sentence makes it seem like they only spoke to her out of respect rather
than because they wanted to. Without a doubt, you can conclude from the way other characters
interact with her that Miss Strangeworth is rude.
Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she does, what the narrator

Neuroanatomy Essay
Neuroanatomy is the study of structure and function relationships in the brain and nervous system.
As this encompasses a study of both macroscopic and microscopic structures, a variety of
histological tools have been developed to enable that endeavor
Microscopy
Microscopy is an important technique for studying the structure and function of the nervous system.
This is enabled through the use of histological staining, in which a tissue of interest is preserved
and sectioned, and then stained using one of an array of techniques.
Histological staining provides contrast to the tissue so that details can be distinguished. For
example, gray matter contains neuron cell bodies, or somata, that can be stained to become visible
under a microscope. Nissl stains are useful for gray matter. For white matter of the brain, dyes such

Histochemistry studies can reveal the molecular interactions of structures, such as neurotransmitter
production and activity, metabolism, immune function, and other interactions. Histochemistry can
also be used to reveal chemoarchitecture or chemical neuroanatomy.
Immunocytochemistry is a type of histochemistry that makes use of antibodies to visualize cell
types, axons, neuron structures, glial processes, blood vessels, or molecular components of cells
like neurotransmitters and intranuclear proteins. Immunocytochemical studies can also be used for
genomics studies of nervous system cells. Combining these techniques with a fluorescent stain
allows visualization of enzyme binding sites and reactions.
In situ hybridization is also an important histochemical tool for neuroanatomy studies. It uses
synthetic ribonucleic acid (RNA) probes to visualize complementary messenger RNA (mRNA)
transcripts of genes in the cell. This can help to reveal gene function.

6.How useful was the Gantt chart in planning and tracking your group s progress through the
production phase? Give reasons.
I think the Gantt chart was a good resource and very interesting but I think it wasn t totally
necessary. As CEO I knew everything that had to be done and was on top of it. My group members
were also on top of their work and knew the deadlines. On the other hand I can see how a Gantt
chart could be a vital part of a bigger business.

10.How well did your group stay within budget of $20 per person? Was this reasonable? How
could you have ensured you stayed within or under budget?
Our group did manage to stay mostly within the $60 but a bit of the items came out of our own
pockets. I think the $60 was a good amount but it was very difficult to stay within that amount. I
think to $60 was also good because it helped keep the groups on the same page. So a group with a
lot of money couldn t go over the top to much. It kept everyone on the same level.
We ensured that we stayed within the budget by shopping around and finding the cheapest price on
all the items we needed. Also we prioritise on what had to be bought and what we could source
from home.
11.Were you personally kept aware of your group s financial position throughout the production
phase? Explain.
Even though I was not the encharge of overseeing the finance side of things I did have a big role
in it. I calculated what was needed and where we could get the best price for it. I did the big shop
and sourced most of the items. The financial planner Charlotte mad sure she kept the whole group
aware of the budget. I would say that I was kept aware of the group s financial position.

The Invention Of The Electric Light Bulb
Can you ever imagine a world without light bulb? Before light bulb was created, the night can
only be lit by the moon and stars. People working and traveling after sunset could only use
candles or oil lamps, which caused many inconveniences. Without any bright light, moving
inside your own house even seemed dangerous. However, things changed after the ambitious
inventors brought their bright idea, which was to light the world, to life. The invention and the
commercialization of light bulb not only changed the way people live, but also became a
technological breakthrough for future energy use in our daily lives. The electric light bulb has
been called the most important invention ever since the discovery of fire. Before eighteenth
centuries, there are limited sources of light. The most common artificial light sources for people
to use were only candles, oil lamps, and fire. These light sources not only emitted very weak
lights, but also produced smokes and awful orders, which made people impossible to work
productively after sundown. Many houses at that time period were made of timbers, therefore,
having fire or open flame inside the house was hazardous. Once a house caught on fire, the entire
neighborhood would be in danger, since there was no running water inside the buildings. Darkness
was the epitome of evil. When the sun went down and darkness spread through, the night became
the realm of crime. The darkness worked as the perfect cover for thief, murderer, and rapist.

Inequality In Anthropology
Throughout the history of anthropology and the ethnographic method, topics of ritual, gender and
inequality have been diminutive. Anthropologists have turned their research to primarily minuscule
civilizations, observing participants, surveying and interviewing communities. During this, is it an
absolute necessity to marinate an individual into their preferred society to accumulate a profound
grasp about its people and practical details, which frankly cannot be achieved from literary works.
By doing so the researcher obtains a perceptive education into participants daily essence and
formalities. One must live in their conditions, sustain alliances during involvement and most
importantly, partake in its inhabitants activities while jotting down... Show more content on

Tommy and I crossed paths last week, while playing soccer at the recreational center. With the
project lingering in my mind, I decided to approach him and assemble information. With limited
material obtained, he was born in China, and his family moved to the United States when he was

practice and his native. Making him an untarnished participant, candidly a best of both worlds.
Obtaining access to his home is something that won t be a practical issue. His parents property
however could be troublesome. Briefly speaking with Tommy, they are disciplinary, tentative,
genuine Chinese folks. Terminology used to define them is the exact reason I ve chosen their

As researchers you must insert yourself in outlandish settings. Stated by ethnographic schemes,
one must let loose own assumptions about the party to productivity exercise it. In my case, I can t

I Am A Normal Human Being
First and foremost, I believe that I am a normal human being. I don t consider myself to be out
of the ordinary except for my love of Prince, but if you don t like Prince or his music, can you
even call yourself a human? I digress, I thought that going into this assignment I would find out
more interesting things about myself, however, I learned quickly that that wasn t really the case.
See, what was interesting to me was very boring and weird to others, especially my friends that
aren t in theater. When I would go up to them and explain the new things that I am doing, they
would kind of just look at me and secretly judge, but it also let me know that I was enjoying
learning more about myself.
All my life I knew that I was flexible jointed and that I could do a lot of things such as putting my
leg over my head and interlocking my arms and moving them all around my body without breaking
that lock, but I also discovered that I could do other things without even noticing them. For instance,
I tend to bounce my knee whenever I am really into a story that I am telling, but also whenever I am
really passionate about something. Another thing that I noticed is that when I sit, I sway from side
to side or front to back, but I just have to be in motion. It s just something that allows me to burn off
the extra energy that is within me. I think that all the little things I do, such as leading with my left
foot and having my right face outward as I walk explains why it kind of looks like

The Historical Context of The Bhagavad Gita and Its Relation to Indian Religious Doctrines
The Bhagavad Gita is perhaps the most famous, and definitely the most widely read, ethical text of
ancient India. As an episode in India s great epic, the Mahabharata, The Bhagavad Gita now ranks
as one of the three principal texts that define and capture the essence of Hinduism; the other two
being the Upanishads and the Brahma Sutras. Though this work contains much theology, its kernel
is ethical and its teaching is set in the context of an ethical problem. The teaching of The Bhagavad
Gita is summed up in the maxim your business is with the deed and not with the result. When

The conflict between the Pandavas and the Kauravas brewed gradually when the Kauravas
refused to return the kingdom to the Panadavas and honor the agreement after the fourteen year
exile, and escalated to a full scale war when the Kauravas refused to even grant Yudhisthir s
reduced demand for a few villages instead of the entire kingdom. As the battle is about to begin,
Arjuna, himself an acclaimed warrior, wonders how he could kill his own blood relatives with
whom he had grown up as a child. He puts the battle on hold and begins a conversation with Krishna
, one of the ten but most important incarnations of the Universal Hindu God, Vishnu. The
Bhagavad Gita begins here and ends with Krishna convincing Arjuna that in the grand scheme of
things, he is only a pawn. The best he could do is do his duty and not question God s will. It was
his duty to fight. In convincing Arjuna, the Lord Krishna provides a philosophy of life and restores
Arjuna s nerve to begin the battle a battle that had been stalled because the protagonist had lost his
nerve and needed time to reexamine his moral values.
Even though The Bhagavad Gita (hereafter referred to as the Gita) is one of the three principal
texts that define the essence of Hinduism, and since all over the world Hindus chant from the Gita
during most of their religious ceremonies, strictly speaking the Gita is not one of the Hindu
scriptures. In light

What Are Your Recommendations For Using Fossil Fuels And...
1. What are your recommendations for using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources?
The United States currently uses approximately one quarter of the world s total energy
consumption (Toossi). With around 322 million people inhabiting the United States, our population
accounts for just fewer than 5% of the total world population. That means that our 5% of the world
s population is using 25% of the world s energy! Something has to be done. To begin to understand
why, we need to break down our energy demands: 37% petroleum (used mostly for transportation),
25% natural gas (spread out evenly between industrial, residential, commercial, and electricity
generation), 21% coal (mostly going towards electricity generation), 8% renewable energies (the
majority of which is used for electricity generation) and 9% nuclear electric power (100% of
which is used to produce electricity) (Toossi). Our main problem is our incredible need for fast
cars and big trucks. If we as a nation could come together to incentivize the use of public
transportation over personal transportation our petroleum use would decrease greatly. The burning
of coal is also a huge problem in the United States. It is a fossil fuel which is incredibly unclean
and is a big culprit in the global warming issue we see today. My energy policy would incentivize
the use of nuclear energy which is a much cleaner technology and has become increasingly safe in
recent years. Only 9% of our energy is generated from

The Seven Army Values
There are seven Army Values that all human beings should believe in. There are three values I
see as strengths, and as areas to improve in my personal life. Those values are Respect, Selfless
Service, and Honor. I will be writing about all three in this essay.
The first Army Value I see as a strength is Respect. I chose the Army Valuerespect because that s
something I would want someone to give me. In my eyes, when you first met someone, your first
impression or their first impression determines if you ve gained their respect or if they have
gained yours. Respect is my strength because even though I might not respect you as a person, I

Suburban Warriors Sparknotes
The Rise of the Right Beginning in the 1960s the conservative middle class, living in the
suburbs, called for an end to the New Deal and the moral decay of their country. Recognizing the
liberal movement s inability to organize, and agree on issues, right wing activists began to
mobilize. Although split between social conservatives and libertarians the right was able to unify
on common ground and change the direction their nation was headed. In Suburban Warriors: The
Origins of the New American Right, McGirr argues that this movement, centered in Orange
County, would begin a new era of a return to traditional values and would be successful as a
result of organization, faith, and a fierce dedication to what these middle class Americans
believed to be morally right. The book follows the rise of the right side chronologically, focusing
on major issues and themes along the way. The American middle class longed for the return of the
American dream working comfortably paid jobs, moving into planned neighborhoods they now
had time to focus on other issues such as the morally corrupt communists and liberals who were
dominating the media. A fear of big government between 1960 and 1963 caused the anti communist
movement in Orange County to explode. This was one of the many ways the right side was
unified. Support of religion and promotion of God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on consumerism to some point. It can be said that May begins with women change in roles and

where many women want a return to traditional values. Suburban Warrior compares to Power to the
Poor, by Mantler, and Cold War Civil Rights, by Mary Dudziak, simply as the opposition to those
movements which were based around human rights and government assistance to the

nitrogen icecream often referred as revolution of ice cream among San Franciscans. I loved
living in Hayes Valley because it had Smitten. On the weekends, I would go to the ice cream

Ice cream is rather a complex mixture of different particles interacting with each other to create
unique properties of the food. The first component ice crystals are formed when water in ice

many minute sized crystals. The texture of ice cream with many smaller ice crystals is better
than that with fewer big crystals. Also, by reducing the amount of water in the base that will be

Bus Train ( Magnetic Levitation Train )
INTRODUCTION
The world today is entirely dependent on various means of transportation for their day to day and
hence a more rapid and reliable source of transportation is must. People today recognizes aero plane
as the fastest means of transportation which has its own disadvantages and there were no other
options available till the beginning of the 20th century , but with the development in technology
there were other means of transport which came into action and one of which was the MAGLEV
TRAIN (Magnetic levitation train) which are on entirely different level as when compared to our
traditional trains and on the other hand can been compared to aero planes in terms of speed. The
recent development of maglev train has made them a strong contender for the future transportation
and there is a lot of scope for development in this technology. The following term paper deals with
working along with the advantages and disadvantages of maglev train.
The train which are levitated suspended, guided and propelled with the help of magnetic forces

as a result of which there is no wheel rail friction and due to which these train can achieve

Pediculosis Research Paper
Pediculosis Pediculosis, more widely known as lice, is a transmittable skin infection caused by
a blood sucking parasite known as louse. Lice s main supply of sustenance is the blood of their
host, they usually feed about five times per day causing severe itching, also known as pruritus.
Pruritus can lead to sores, which can lead to a secondary bacterial skin infection. Lice can affect
the hair, body, and pubic region. In the United States alone it is found that from 6 million to 12
million new cases of head lice are diagnosed in school children each year. Pediculus humanus
capitis infects the head, which can mainly be found on the scalp, on the back of the neck, and

Personal hygiene is major factor for this infestation. It commonly occurs among people who do
not have the luxury of changing clothes or showering often. It is prevalent in refugee camps and
in homeless people. Body lice resides in the seams of clothing, and they are primarily found by
the trunk, neck, and thighs. Pubic lice is caused by Phthirus pubis which is commonly referred
to as crabs because of its claws on its second and third legs that so closely resemble a rock crab.
Pubic lice in transmitted through sexual contact and is highly likely to be caught by an
unsuspecting person. Risk for pubic lice from sexual experiences can exceed 90 percent.
Infestation of pubic lice is found in the pubic area, rectal area, and can also be found, in males, in
facial, chest, and/or abdominal hair. Head and pubic lice must be treated through the manual
removal of the louse with a comb, then pediculicides will be used. No non pesticide lotions are
currently available in the United States, but they can be purchased in the United Kingdom, and they

Andy Mulligan s Trash
Essay Topic: Discuss how Andy Mulligan represents the divide Between the Rich and the Poor
in the novel Trash, ? Andy Mulligan divides the rich and the poor by showing that the rich have
more freedom, a better appearance and get to be buried in the ground, You should see me,
dressed to kill, (Page 5). This quote is going to be in one body paragraph later on in the essay. In
Trash Andy Mulligan shows the separation of the wealthy and the disadvantaged by describing,
the wall at the graveyard. The cemetery you see is divided by a wall, and that is the wall we are
sitting on. The wall divides the rich quarter, where the dead get buried in the earth, from the poor
quarter, where the dead get stacked up in boxes, (Page 180). That is unnatural why should they
have to be buried any different to the rich they have spirits and lives family s that I think don t
want to climb up a stacked up boxes just to read the name on it.... Show more content on

Typically this type of spray should be used in the evening and night time if you plan to be
outside. It is also recommended if you are going to be in a swampy or wooded area for any
length of time. Insect repellent containing 5 to 30 percent DEET is the most effective. Be sure to
choose a DEET product that is suited for the age of the person using it and time being spent
outside. This information will be available on the product label. Be sure to read the instructions
carefully and to apply the product properly. Reconsider Citronella Citronella candles and coils are
not totally effective in protecting you and your family from mosquito bites. They are best used
when there is little to no breeze that could scatter the product ingredients and reduce its potency.

Essay Romans and Barbarians Dbq
Romans and Barbarians DBQ
According to the Romans nomads were considered to be barbarians, however over time Romans
began to develop nomadic customs which were no longer considered barbaric but civilized. To
the Romans a barbarian was anyone who was an outsider of their land, and in that case nomads
were considered to be barbaric. Nomads are known as a small group of people that don t have a
permanent settlement, and travel and migrate from place to place. Nomadic people also had a
different type of lifestyle from the Romans, for example the nomads hunted and gathered their
food, and which was considered cave man like. Before the fall of Rome the Romans were

She also begins to go on and says, .. and massacre everyone you conquer. According to these
statements I would consider these actions to be barbaric based on the fact that it sounds more like
a surprise attack for war. I say this because they use the word conquer like they are going to go
over there, kill everyone and everything, and take over without any reason.
Based on what I ve read I don t believe that there is an honest yes or no answer to the question,
Can these nomads be called barbarians? According to Salvian, a Christian priest, he says, ..
almost all barbarians, at least those who are of one race and kin, love each other, while the
Romans persecute each other. However, many of these reads go into detail about the nomadic
people never sparing the people of which they conquered or went to war with, and killing them
all off one by one. As for the change over time; there was one. After the fall of Rome when the
nomadic people took over around 476 CE they kept the same Roman customs, but began
introducing nomadic ways of life that, over time, turned out to not be barbaric at all. Over the
course of many years you will see the Romans perspective of the nomads and their culture began to
change over the course of many years, and after the Fall of Rome.
In the beginning the nomadic people were not given a good name due to the way they did things

Spoon River Anthology Poem
With happiness in relationships continuing to decline as well at the rate of divorces rising it is no
surprise that marriage and love has lost the value it once had. Edgar Lee Masters writer of the
Spoon River Anthology also seems to feel that romantic relationships have also lost its value during
his time. He is able to display this though several of his poems within the anthology. His
unhappiness with love, romance, relationships and marriageare shown through his poems that
illustrate unhappy marriages as well as the deaths connected to them.
Edgar Lee Masters uses the poem of Amanda Barker in order to show his own views of
relationships. Amanda Barker s relationship with her husband was without love and full of hate.

Essay on The Mi’kmaq Way of Life
The Mi kmaq Way of Life Mi kmaq was the spelling of a tribe of Indians that had first contact
with European explorers in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Through the years, the name
has been changed to what we know today as Mic Mac. The word Mi kmaq derives from the
word nikmak, which means my kin friends or allies. The rich and descriptive Mi kmaq language
was a member of the Algonkin family. Although every Mi kmaq can understand each other, the
dialect varies between bands. For example, the Mi kmaq spoken in Quebec differs from that in Nova
Scotia. The Mi kmaq tribe settled in southwesternNew Foundland in 1630. They were the first
nation people (Nova Scotia 1) of Nova Scotia and later also settled in New England. They are...

A net, called an abi, was made with intertwined tree branches. The bait that they used for fishing
was called wa adegon. Fishhooks were made out of copper or a hook shaped bone that was
sharpened at both ends. For larger fish, a leister was used. This tool was a three pronged spear.
There was a center point and two points that came out on each side of the middle point. Lobsters
and shellfish were dug out of the seabed with sticks and roasted on coals, (Nova Scotia 2 3; Wallis
and Wallis 27 28; Davis 27).
Hunting meat changed when the seasons did. During the summer, animals such as moose,
caribou, deer, beaver, and porcupine were stalked on foot. Porpoise, walrus, and seal were hunted in
the water by canoe in the water. In the winter, they would break. A beavers dam and crack the ice
in 40 50 different places. The beavers would then have to come out of the broken holes in the ice.
Moose were the Mi kmaq s most productive food and were hunted from February to mid March.
Meat and fish would then be dried and smoked to preserve them. Berries, roots and edible plants
were also a source of food for the Mi kmaq, (Nova Scotia 3; Davis 27).
The gear used for hunting was mostly man made. Some of items used for hunting were animal
bone, teeth, claws, hair, quills, shells, clay, stone, wood, roots and bark. Grinding stone to a sharp

behavior that causes dysfunction in relationships or at work. NPD is also very common is serial
killers. Other characteristics of this diagnosis include: requiring constant admiration, having an
inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others, and also behaving in an
arrogant or haughty manner. I would treat Genene with psychotherapy (talk therapy). There are

Hobbes Leviath Human Desire
Jaime Rivas
POL 004 Essay 2
Human Desire In Hobbes Leviathan, man s nature is given an arguably pessimistic description
by Hobbes, So that in the first place, I put for a general inclination of all mankind, a perpetual
and restless desire of power after power, that ceaseth only in death (58). This conclusion of man s
nature comes as the logical end point of his discussion of bodies in motion, power and other
aspects of human nature. The description of man s nature by Hobbes also becomes the
fundamental base for his argument for the state of nature being a state of war or even a war of all
against all . Hobbes man and his nature is the fundamental basis for the creation of Hobbes
Leviathan in response to the state of constant war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These ideas of good and evil with our desires and aversions become the basis for Hobbes idea of
power which is The power of a man (to take it universally) is his present means to obtain some
future apparent good (50[1]). This interpretation of power by Hobbes states that the idea of
power is the ability to obtain objects which are good to you for the future or to state simply, it is
to have a present means to gain future desires. So, power by Hobbes terms is anything that aids
you in gaining objects of your desire either in the present or in the future, and it is this power
which is man s main appetite according to Hobbes. From this restless appetite comes Hobbes
description of man s nature of restless desire. Hobbes description of man s nature as a restless
desire for power is the central foundation for the creation of Hobbes state of nature. Life in what is
considered a state of nature is the nature in the condition without government. Hobbes states the
scenario as the condition of mere nature (84[18]), a state where no authority exist other than
whatever authority, privacy, security or power an individual is able to gain privately by
themselves. Under this state of nature Hobbes assigns man a right of preservation of themselves
which he calls the right of nature (79[1]) where each man hath to use

Unique Relationships In The Last Of The Mohicans
Chingachgook and Uncas have a unique relationship in The Last of the Mohicans, as does Munro
and his daughters. The relationships have their own dynamics. They share some aspects in
common, but also differ in ways. Both families are affected by war and both Chingachgook and
Monro care deeply for their children, but there is a difference in the closeness of their relationships
to their children.
The setting of The Last of the Mohicans is during a clash between the English and French in
America called the French and Indian War, named because of the involvement of Native Americans
in fighting the English with France. Chingachgook and Uncas are involved in the war just as
Munro and his daughters are, though Alice and Cora are not

Gold Standard Essay
The gold standard refers to a monetary system in which the fixed amount of gold is used to
define the value of country s currency and the country s currency is freely interchangeable to
gold. To guarantee convertibility, the supply of money issued by the central back was entirely
restricted by the quantity of gold reserves in the nation. International payments are compensated
in term of gold. Under the gold standard system, the value of a fixed quantity of gold reflects the
value of the country s currency, thus leading to a fixed exchange rate, which is determined by the
gold weights. For instance, if the gold price in the United State is $400 per an ounce, the dollar s
value will be 1/400 for an ounce of gold. As a result, the government needs... Show more content on

First of all, the great advantage of the gold standard is that it portrayed long term price stability. It
was used as the buffer against risk for both monetary policy and inflation expectation as it restrict
the government s power to inflate prices by printing excessive money. Under the gold standard,
further money printed must correspond to amount of gold available in the economy. Thus, it was
nearly impossible for the countries to experience hyperinflation. Another worthy benefit of the gold
standard is that it sets up a fixed exchanged rage among participating counties as well as abolishes
exchange rate volatility. Thus, the system provides a favorable economy in promoting international
trade and investment. Historically, if the price levels in the participating countries were not
balanced, it would be offset by the price specie flow mechanism. which is the automatic balance of
payment adjustment mechanism. For imports country, the use of gold to pay for the goods will
suddenly decrease its money supply and therefor lead to deflation, making to country more
competitive. In contrast, the gold receiving in exchange for goods for the exporters country will
increase money supply and lead to inflation, making the country less

The Siege Of Petersburg
The Siege of Petersburg occurred from June 15 18 1864. However, it was actually a series of
battles fought around Petersburg from 9 June 1864 to March 25, 1865. This was to be a
evolving era for the military, society and how the two would affect each other. During this era,
new tactics and strategies would be tried, changed and adopted throughout future wars while
others would fail miserably. Your position in society would usually dictate your position on the
battlefield. Even though your position in society did not qualify you as a leader or good decision
maker as several outcomes of this Siege would prove. This may very well have affected the
outcome of new strategies and tactics. Had better decisions been made on the battlefield... Show

Now not all blacks were slaves there were free blacks in the south roughly a quarter million who
had bought their freedom and moved on to own their own land and slaves. The south was known
for their large tobacco and cotton fields, which required daily excruciating backbreaking labor.
Slave hands were what made this possible to complete and continue for too long. Not all slaves
were out working the plantation or fields, there were also slaves doing everything from carpentry
and masonry work to raising children and not necessarily their own children. This was a way of
life in the south and without that amount of work; being completed that the slaves were responsible
for, the ability to sustain life would be imaginable. As the civil war erupted all war worthy
confederate males left their home to defend the southern states against the Union Army. At this time
the minimal amount of personnel were left at home to support the family and continue to work
the land while maintaining a positive outlook and forward progress. Times were rough for the
south if the land was not worked then the crops could not be sold and the family had no income or
means to sustain life. Not only did they not make a living, the crops were supporting the
confederate troops fighting the war. Soldiers of the confederate army were struggling to sustain the
fight, the food was scarce,

  • 5. The Kennett Delta Parade Parade A parade is a public possession causing some of these to be celebrate for a special day or event. People can even win prizes for being in them. I attended the Kennett Delta Parade on September 29th. I really enjoyed watching it! I thought it was the longest parade, but it had so much entertainment. In summary, the parade included the police department, tractors, modern cars, floats, marching units, school bands, school clubs, and sport teams from different areas. The parade even carried the delta fair queen and maids. My favorite section of the parade were the floats considering some people get so creative decorating. The floats were awarded. First place won $1000, second place won $600, third place won $450, fourth place won $350, and fifth place won $250. Some people bring in their competitive side, which makes it really amusing to watch. At the same time, I felt like I was part of the community when I attended the Kennett Delta Parade. Parades combine some of my favorite things: community, faith, family, patriotism, and simply being involved. Events like these bring everyone together. However, I chose this specific event because I show up every year and really enjoy coming to watch. Not only is it thrilling, but it also keeps me from staying home. I will continue to attend to this event in the future because every year it is different. I surely do not plan on missing any of it. The sensation of the Kennett Delta Fair Parade is something I look forward to every year. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Life Of The Landscape Essay The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi arid region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for golden rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry looking terrain were the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come as a surprise, but Canada s only desert is home to a growing winecommunity with many award winning wines being produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos. As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries are now a member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non profit organization with a goal to develop the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While driving through the region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and learn about their history. Stoneboat Vineyards We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting to anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family owned winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us, who together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre orchard in 1979 and planted their first vines in 1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award ... The recruiting aspect is definitely made more efficient through product and proven ways of marketing, but our process will take things a step further. We will need to make sure that after we have a recruit, again that this is the person that is going to fall in line with what we are ultimately trying to get accomplished. We will put jobs in individual categories. What I mean by this statement is that though we are looking for people who are going to be infantry and cavalry ready, we also are going to have different roles in the structure of the unit. While we have some people who are much more hands on and like to learn by doing, we also are going to have people who will not necessarily be as hands on but can do a good job of leading by thinking through issues. This is going to be the basic structure of the group, and with this two types of structures, we will be able to categorize any job in a blanket way to fall into these areas. We will use the recruiting process overall along with testing and background to encourage the recruits to take their careers in the direction that not only will be in our best interest, but also in theirs as well. With reference to BP plc s (British Petroleum s) strategies analyse the possibility that it is old fashioned to consider the influence of the firm s home country s institutions and culture. Introduction In this assignment I will attempt to explore the concept that despite the spread and influence of the globalization of business and industries on our world s economies and cultures, a large multinational firm is still influenced in a fundamental way by its home country s institutions and culture. We can observe that British cultural dimensions reflect low power distance tolerance, high individuality, high masculinity, low tolerance to uncertainty and a short termorientation. BP plc. (British Petroleum) When considering which international firm to use as a case study I was curious to apply this discussion to an industry and firm which is a product of the greatest possible degree of globalisation. In a world society with a hydrocarbon economy I find it hard to conceive of an industry more global than that of energy production and thus a multinational oil company. BP plc, unsurprisingly, is a British company. It was founded in 1908 and owes its early prosperity to exploitation of Iranian (formally Persian) oilfields, where it continued to operate until the revolution in Iran in 1979. Although having lost access to the Iranian oilfields, BP plc had expanded operations to the North Sea and Alaska during the 1960s and 1970s. During the 1980s the British government sold off its holdings in the company under the privatization drive. At the end of the decade the company underwent severe corporate restructuring and downsizing. LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DIVINITY Missionary Expansion Through the Centuries Submitted to Rawlings School of Divinity Professor Tae Jun Suk, PhD., in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion CHHI 510 CHHI 510 Survey of the History of Christianity by James A. Vernon October 16, 2016 Contents Introduction1 St. Patrick1 John of Plano Carpini4 Dr. J. Hudson Taylor6 Conclusion8 Bibliography9 Introduction Missionary expansion throughout the centuries has taken a hard, often violent road. The expansion of Christianity begins with the adherents of Jesus Christ and ended with the premature demise of many of the disciples. In the centuries following the disciples, many missionaries were faced with percussion and death as the gospel was proclaimed. As missionary expansion occurs throughout the centuries, often times facing trial and difficulty, the question comes up; is the capital cost of missionary expansion worth the monetary value? This paper will highlight many trials that have been faced by three missionaries in particular and explain often by the words of these missionaries why the enormous cost of missionary expansion is worth the cost. The thesis of this paper is: everyone is called to preach the gospel; the calling of the missionary is called to live by faith even when facing difficulty.

People working and traveling after sunset could only use candles or oil lamps, which caused many inconveniences. Without any bright light, moving inside your own house even seemed dangerous. However, things changed after the ambitious inventors brought their bright idea, which was to light the world, to life. The invention and the commercialization of light bulb not only changed the way people live, but also became a technological breakthrough for future energy use in our daily lives. The electric light bulb has been called the most important invention ever since the discovery of fire. Before eighteenth centuries, there are limited sources of light. The most common artificial light sources for people to use were only candles, oil lamps, and fire. These light sources not only emitted very weak lights, but also produced smokes and awful orders, which made people impossible to work productively after sundown. Many houses at that time period were made of timbers, therefore, having fire or open flame inside the house was hazardous. Once a house caught on fire, the entire neighborhood would be in danger, since there was no running water inside the buildings. Darkness was the epitome of evil. When the sun went down and darkness spread through, the night became the realm of crime. The darkness worked as the perfect cover for thief, murderer, and rapist. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Historical Context of The Bhagavad Gita and Its Relation to Indian Religious Doctrines The Bhagavad Gita is perhaps the most famous, and definitely the most widely read, ethical text of ancient India. As an episode in India s great epic, the Mahabharata, The Bhagavad Gita now ranks as one of the three principal texts that define and capture the essence of Hinduism; the other two being the Upanishads and the Brahma Sutras. Though this work contains much theology, its kernel is ethical and its teaching is set in the context of an ethical problem. As the battle is about to begin, Arjuna, himself an acclaimed warrior, wonders how he could kill his own blood relatives with whom he had grown up as a child. He puts the battle on hold and begins a conversation with Krishna , one of the ten but most important incarnations of the Universal Hindu God, Vishnu. The Bhagavad Gita begins here and ends with Krishna convincing Arjuna that in the grand scheme of things, he is only a pawn. The best he could do is do his duty and not question God s will. It was his duty to fight. In convincing Arjuna, the Lord Krishna provides a philosophy of life and restores Arjuna s nerve to begin the battle a battle that had been stalled because the protagonist had lost his nerve and needed time to reexamine his moral values. • 35. What Are Your Recommendations For Using Fossil Fuels And... 1. What are your recommendations for using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources? The United States currently uses approximately one quarter of the world s total energy consumption (Toossi). With around 322 million people inhabiting the United States, our population accounts for just fewer than 5% of the total world population. That means that our 5% of the world s population is using 25% of the world s energy! Something has to be done. To begin to understand why, we need to break down our energy demands: 37% petroleum (used mostly for transportation), 25% natural gas (spread out evenly between industrial, residential, commercial, and electricity generation), 21% coal (mostly going towards electricity generation), 8% renewable energies (the majority of which is used for electricity generation) and 9% nuclear electric power (100% of which is used to produce electricity) (Toossi). Our main problem is our incredible need for fast cars and big trucks. If we as a nation could come together to incentivize the use of public transportation over personal transportation our petroleum use would decrease greatly. The burning of coal is also a huge problem in the United States. It is a fossil fuel which is incredibly unclean and is a big culprit in the global warming issue we see today. Suburban Warriors Sparknotes The Rise of the Right Beginning in the 1960s the conservative middle class, living in the suburbs, called for an end to the New Deal and the moral decay of their country. Recognizing the liberal movement s inability to organize, and agree on issues, right wing activists began to mobilize. Although split between social conservatives and libertarians the right was able to unify on common ground and change the direction their nation was headed. In Suburban Warriors: The Origins of the New American Right, McGirr argues that this movement, centered in Orange County, would begin a new era of a return to traditional values and would be successful as a result of organization, faith, and a fierce dedication to what these middle class Americans believed to be morally right. The book follows the rise of the right side chronologically, focusing on major issues and themes along the way. The American middle class longed for the return of the American dream working comfortably paid jobs, moving into planned neighborhoods they now had time to focus on other issues such as the morally corrupt communists and liberals who were dominating the media. A fear of big government between 1960 and 1963 caused the anti communist movement in Orange County to explode. This was one of the many ways the right side was unified. In fact Searles seemed to be encouraged by everyone at one point or another to give up on his service to the 54th regiment. I also found him very interesting in refusing to change his ways to fit in. Tripp nicknamed Searles snowflake due to his upbringing and personality. But even with the nickname snowflake Searles did not change his personality to fit in with the other men. He did continue to try to incorporate himself into being a solder rather then changing who he was to become a solder. Coming from his implied previous lifestyle it seemed that Searles was the furthest away from his comfort zone especially when he had to take harsh orders from Shaw. Searles was inspirational to me because even though he was out of place and encouraged to quit, he continued to value being part of the 54th regiment. Due to Glory s great depiction of the 54th regiment I this movie should be shown to students next semester. Glory helps students with the visualization the the men of the 54th and what it was like from their different view points. The different view points of the 54th regiment are all well balanced and carefully crafted. I believe that because of Glory s wonderful visual stimulation next semesters ...
