Home Inspectors Importance
What To Expect: Home buyers sometimes buy their home in on impulse. Home inspectors can
help home buyers avoid buyers remorse by reporting on home defects and problems before the
home buyer finds them after closing. Professional home inspectors assist home buying clients with
the tools they need to make an educated choice regarding the quality and condition of their
potential new home. Home buyers must take care to hire the most experienced home inspector they
can afford and make sure the person they hire has their best interest solely in mind. Inspectors who
rely on realtors for referrals sometimes have moral dilemmas.

Cultural Experience Reflection Paper
Cultural Experience Reflection: Spain, Healing Dirt, and Amores Perros When learning a new
language, educating, experiencing, and learning about the culture behind the language is
paramount. It is not simple enough to learn the vocabulary and grammar of Spanish. As a Spanish
1010 student, my learning experience has been enriched through participating in cultural events.
Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the language and native
speakers. Over the last semester, I participated in the following three cultural experiences: traveling
to Spain, attending the Healing Dirt event, and watching the movie Amores Perros. Fortunately for
me, these three events covered a variety of issue areas (e.g., religious traditions, language
dynamics, and machismo); additionally, each event was based in different Spanish speaking
countries. Over the past summer, I traveled to Spain and was able experienced the culture and
traditions of the Hispanic people for two weeks. I was struck by how language and cultural
heritage played a major role in shaping the experiences of Hispanic people. The role of language
plays a huge role in shaping the experiences and lives of the people living in Barcelona. In the city
of Barcelona, Catalan and Spanish are the languages spoken. Furthermore, the government only
provides free education to learn Catalan, not Spanish. This preservation of the Catalonian culture
represents the ongoing effort of the Catalonians to gain independence from Spain. Through
preserving the native Catalonian language through law and education, these Hispanic people show
how they adamantly defend their heritage and place high value on preserving Catalonian culture. I
recognized the respect the other Barcelonans had for the Catalonian people. Though their cultures
have many fundamental differences, the non Catalonians living in Barcelona learn how to speak
Catalan in order to communicate, but also to validate the integrity of their cross culture
interactions. This enables an open discussion politically and socially on the issues both cultures
bring to the discussion. After traveling through Spain, I was inspired by the people to learn how to

Bigfoot Evolution
Bigfoot is a species of North American ape.
How it s possible: When the earth had one supercontinent, a species of ape from Asia migrated to
North America using a land bridge connecting Russia and Alaska. Over time, the continents spread
apart which prevented the two populations from interacting. The smaller gene pool of the North
American paired with the new environment led to the new population favoring different alleles. As
a result the population of North American apes grew larger and began to favor walking on their
back legs.
How it could be proven: Use DNA testing to evaluate the similarities between modern and/or
extinct species of apes from Asia and Bigfoots.
Unit connections: Evolution (founder effect, speciation), Ecology (organization ... Show more

The descriptions of these two species tend to be very similar; they re tall, hairy, human like
beasts that walk on their hind legs. Is it possible that these are two species were once one? And
are they still capable of reproducing with one another? Scientists have found that grizzly bears
and polar bears, when put together, produce viable and fertile offspring. This technically makes
the two bears one species. Logistically, however, the two are not considered of the same species
because they live so far apart that in nature it is very rare that the two would breed, although it has
happened before. Therefore, there is a prezygotic barrier rather than a postzygotic barrier. The
same may be for Bigfoots and

Pros And Cons Of Transgender Bathrooms
The superintendent in Missoula, Mark Thane, had said that the letter from Obama s administration
to public schools are able to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms matching the gender of
them. So they could pick their own gender and use whichever bathrooms, and will not have an
impact for the district. Personally, I think that this is terrible, having a transgender bathroom. You
were either born a boy, or a girl. I just think that you should not be born one thing and then change
into something totally different. Also, have your rights and get a bathroom to where anyone could
use it. It s wrong because someone could say they are transgender, even if they aren t, and then they
could.. Who knows what. Having these bathrooms were in

happen, and usually, you will encounter problems with your motorbike while you are riding it.
While most riders carry with them the tools and equipment that they need to fix common problems
such as flat tires and running out fuel, you will still need to call a motorcycle towing service

Essay On The Revolution Of 1968
LACKING TO BE MORE INFLUENTIAL
Renown as one of the three important turning points of our modern world system besides the long
sixteenth century as a capitalist world economy; and the French Revolution of geoculture for this
world system, one that was dominated by centrist liberalism; and the world revolution of 1968,
which presaged the long terminal phase of the modern world system in which we find ourselves
and which undermined the centrist liberal geoculture that was holding the world system together.
At the same time, the undeniable predicaments that the revolution was met by the upholders of the
system enabled the World Revolution of 1968 to be lost in uprisals failing to bring about the
change that it set out to achieve.
May 1968 was the most advanced movement of an exceptional year of struggle that remains a
high point of the post WWII era. Hopes and possibilities were raised high yet the revolution never
came, even though the idea of revolution (though often limited and confused) was a part of the

Sheila Mant Quotes
I have read the short story Sheila Mant by W.D. Wetherell. In this story a fourteen year old boy
likes a girl and asks her to go to a concert with him. He takes her there on a canoe and encounters
a dilemma when he has to choose between Sheila and the bass. In this journal, I will be predicting
whether the boy will chose Sheila or the bass.
G: Throughout the short story Sheila Mant, the boy must decide between the bass and Sheila. Y:

The boy knows all about largemouth bass, even their scientific name. He also has all the name
brand equipment for fishing such as Pflueger and Rapala. The name brand equipment is
important because it must mean he is extremely committed to fishing. The last reason he might
choose the bass is because he is extremely dedicated to fishing. As the text states, I say
automatically, because I never went anywhere that summer without a fishing rod (Wetherell 2).
The boy was constantly fishing or practicing his casts. Fishing was not something he had to think
about, it was just instinct to grab his rod anytime he went somewhere. Fishing for bass is
tremendously automatic for the boy. Secondly, the other decision the boy might make is to pick
Sheila. He might select Sheila because he creeps on her constantly. As explained in the story, I
had learned all her moods. If she lay flat on the diving board...Sitting up, arms tucked around her
long, suntanned legs, she was approachable (Wetherell 1). The boy was regularly creeping on
Sheila and learning all her poses. He would try to spy on her parties. He might pick

Los Angeles Riots Case Study
Introduction In this new decade where political correctness trumps common sense, civil unrest
often leads to violent unrest.
Los Angeles Riots On March 3, 1991, Rodney King, an African American taxi driver on parole
for a robbery conviction, led two California Highway Patrol Officers, Tim and Melanie Singer
(husband and wife) on a high speed chase on the freeway in Los Angeles, California. He had been
drinking King refused to pull over and reached high speeds. He later said that this was because
he didn t want to get in trouble for violating his parole. During the chase, King drove at speeds
from 55 to 88 miles per hour and several police cars and a helicopter joined the pursuit.

riots. Los Angeles is still showing the effects of the riots today with sixty six percent of Black

Open Boat Naturalism
Naturalism is the story that human characters struggle and experience from natural forces which
are unable to control. There are four characteristics of Naturalism and those are in The Open Boat
and To Build a Fire .
First, Naturalism has four determinism; mechanical determinism, biological determinism,
psychological determinism, and social determinism. Especially, The Open Boat has
psychological and biological determinism and To Build a Fire has biological determinism. In
The Open Boat , the captain, the cook, the oiler and the correspondent are in psychological
rollercoaster. Their psychological process is from anger to crying for mercy. And in that
biological determinism, the characters are in exhausted and depleted conditions from not
controlling the sea. In To Build a Fire , it shows human s biological limitation about food and
temperature. He tries to resist the freezing cold and build a fire desperately to avoid icing of his
body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrast to Realism which attempts to satisfy the explanation of character through last name, first
name, city, and social status, Naturalism doesn t put importance on the information about the
character. Thus, information about main character is less specific. The Open Boat just informs
the job about characters, except the oiler, Billy. Billy is the only person who has the name in
this story. Other people are called by their jobs. But Billy dies at the end, although he did an
important role on the boat. Likewise, To Build a Fire , the main character doesn t have a name and
he is only called the man . At the end of the story, the man finally dies from the freezing in the

The Assessment Of Osborne And Waters
In statistical tests, we must rely on assumptions regarding the variables we used in the analysis. If
these assumptions are not met we may arrive at results that are incorrect, or not representative of
the population, typically due to a Type I or a Type II error, or an over or under estimation of
significance or effect size. Osborne and Waters (n.d., p. 1) quote an 1997 article by Pedhazur stating
Knowledge and understanding of the situations when violations of assumptions lead to serious
biases, and when they are of little consequence, are essential to meaningful data analysis which
while a very important point, really only holds importance when researchers test assumptions, an
important step in data analysis that is rarely performed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These tests give researchers information about normality, while the K S tests provide inferential
statistics on normality. One of the best tests for outliers is a visual inspection of histograms, as
well as frequency distributions or converting data to z scores. The removal of univariate and
bivariate outliers can reduce the probability of Type I and Type II errors, which improve the
accuracy of some estimates. It is important to consider that removing outliers is not always
desirable, in which case transformations can improve normality. This can complicate the
interpretation of the results, and therefore should only be used deliberately and in an informed
manner. To accurately estimate the relationship between dependent and independent variables using
standard multiple regression, these relationships must be linear in nature. This is why it is so
important to examine analyses for non linear data, as non linear data will result in a regression
analysis that under estimates the true relationship. Under estimation carries some risk, in
particular an increased chance of Type II errors for the independent variable, and in the case of
multiple regression, an increased risk of Type I errors (over estimation) for other independent
variables that share variance with that variable. There are a few primary ways to detect non
linearity in the data. The use of theory or previous research can be used to inform current analyses,

The Heroes Of Elephants From The Early Movies Of The Disney
Elephants seem to have a gigantic part in the modern culture. The wisdom of elephants as they get
older is something that we see reflective in people. The calmness and strength of the elephant are
virtues that many cultures would love to see as part of their own selves. One of the most famous
among all elephants is Dumbo from the early movies of the Disney. Dumbo is an adorable elephant
born to a circus mom. However, all of the other elephants and animals make fun of him due to his
enormous flappy ears. On the bright side, Dumbo is able to overcome that problem and even
learns to fly with his big ears. He teaches us the value of friendship and of finding good things
within ourselves instead of just giving up. In reality, an elephant is... Show more content on

In order to preserve and increase the number of the elephants in Asia, these animals should be
protected and reintroduced to the wild and their habitats must be restored and expanded. One of
the greatest threats to Asian elephants in Asia is the loss of habitat. Throughout the tropical
regions of Asia, humans have cleared large areas of forest and river valleys for settlement
(AMNH.org, par. 3). The World Wildlife Fund states that large industrial and development
projects such as dams, tea and coffee plantations, roads, and railway lines have broken up what
was once elephant habitats into small fragments (par. 1). This fragmentation process hinders the
seasonal migration and breeding of the clan. In addition, habitat loss also affects the elephant s
diet. According to National Geographic, an adult elephant consumes up to 300 pounds of food
every day (par. 5). These hungry animals do not sleep much, and they roam over great distances
while foraging for the large quantities of food they require to sustain their massive bodies,
(National Geographic, par. 6). Without having a big chunk of land for the elephants to graze and
roam around, their lifestyles and well being would be in danger. According to Choompol
Ngampongsai, wild elephants in Thailand are mostly confined to small protected areas that are
unable to support the complete home range of an entire

A Code Of Ethics And Ethics Of Bank Of America
Bank of America is one of the largest banks in the nation. It is a multinational company and it is
recognized by its high revenue value. Unfortunately, Bank of America has endured many
complaints and harsh views regarding their lack of ethics. Ethical issues occur when there is a
blatant disregard to implement integrity, trust, and responsibility. In some financial institutions,
ethical matters are displayed in the way the consumers are treated. Within the past nine years, Bank
of America has diminished all of their ethical promises by revealing customerinformation without
their permission; discriminating against consumers based on their race; and manipulating overdraft
fees in order to benefit the bank. In order to assess these problems, it is vital to recognize what
Bank of America claims to stand for and determine where their most concerning issues are
generated from.
Bank of America Code of Conduct/Ethics Bank of America thrives off of the premise that they are
aiming to enhance the financial lives of their customers. Per the Code of Conduct, Bank of America
believes in treating all of their customers equally; they claim to expand beyond expectations to

Art Compare Contrast Essay
After reading over chapters fifteen through twenty they describe when and where art was used the
most. Art was used in many cultures in different time periods as the years, centuries pasted art
became more advances and more complex. People used what they could find to make something
out of it.
I learned that the earliest form of art began in Africa approximately two million years ago. It was
interesting to find out that the work of art was an engraved ochre that had lines as if it was
crossed hatches (Page 241). I also found out that other pieces of art were discovered from cave
paintings to human like figurines either carved or molded by clay. Egypt had similar views their art
was many of humans most higher ranking. Later, Greece began creating work of art that honored

Marketing Is The Core Of Communication Between A...
Marketing is the core of communication between a corporation and its target audience, facilitated
by widespread consumption and significantly influenced by consumer demand. It also serves as a
platform that allows a company s message to exploit media platforms in the attempt to gain a
successful customer response and induce behaviours that will propel economic expansion. Despite
the indisputable benefits of marketingto companies and consumers, the occasional antagonistic
motives behind its evident necessity is a point of interest because of how marketing approaches are
being utilised as a transmission channel for corporations to promote unhealthy competition, such as
eliciting the disrepute of another brand or falsifying product specifications for higher turnover, or
induce psychological and behavioural change within the society. Nonetheless, marketing fosters
innovation, prevents market complacency and functions as a catalyst for the promotion of
consumer worthy products and services.
The principle basis of a profitable relationship between a company and its consumer audience is
marketing. It is therefore important for corporations to conduct appropriate market research to
identify the needs of its target market, determine how to prevail over existing competition and
analyse potential threats towards productivity and profitability. Marketing provides conceptual
frameworks and economic models that allow corporations to estimate its capabilities relevant to the

Introduction
Animal welfare refers to the dominant ideology surrounding animal use in western cultures. The
term assumes that humans have the right to use animals in ways that are detrimental and
sometimes fatal to them; for purposes such as food, clothing or the testing of medicinal or cosmetic
products; although it also stipulates that humans should acknowledge the animal s inherent right, as
a sentient creature, not to be treated with unnecessary cruelty within those already accepted uses
and behaviours.
It has been a long standing argument as to whether the use of animals to ensure the safety or
effectiveness of products for human consumption is synonymous with the term Animal Welfare. ...

International Trade between Australia and Japan
Economic growth is a steady growth in the productive capacity of the nation s economy. Countries
manage their natural resources, physical and human resources, technology and institutional
framework to affect and control their outputs. Development in a country s production never merely
depends on domestic economic activities, but also on contact with other counties. With the growing
interaction between buyers and sellers worldwide, communication and exchange of product and
information has boosted economic growth ( Investopedia, 2014). This essay is an investigation and
analysis of a international tradebetween Australiaand Japan. It will explain the events and discuss
impact on Australian economic growth. The article is about an international trade partnership set
up by Australia and Japan. The aim of this partnership is to help stimulus the economic growth of
two counties under the privileged import policy. On April 08, 2014, Tony Abbott completed a
deal with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe with the assurance that it would create
employment for both counties (David, 2014). The two leaders both gave respective ground to
allow cheaper imports, with a concession in budget revenue from tariffs in order to win
consumers. The Japanese deal will substantially make Australia have free export of dairy, beef,
wine, sugar, horticulture, and a range of services, while also making Japanese cars, cameras,

during the 1950s, are considered to be the very first pioneers of the hippie subculture. Through the
youths rebellious nature against the main ideals of society, and the growing popularity of the hippie
subculture, hippies, through the 50s up until the 80s, have managed to cultivate and solidify a new

No doubt, John Lennon wrote this song under the influence of the hippie subculture. This song
helped bring awareness to the public and teenagers alike, about the values of the Hippies.
Another influential song of the Hippie era is Fortunate Son by the group Creedence Clearwater
Revival. This song is a protest against the United States involvement in the Vietnam war, as the
Hippies saw that the US Army s involvement in the war as a mistake. Fortunate Son addresses the
issue of the discriminating way the government used forced conscription to recruit new soldiers as
they forced the poor population to fight much more often than people who held more political
power. As much as fifty five percent of the fighting force belonged in the working class. The
message this song sends, closely associates with the Hippie subculture view of the vietnam war.
This song, also being very popular to the teenage population, inspired teenagers to rebel against the
government and societal norm, causing teenagers to become more aware of the Hippie subculture
(since rebelling against societal norms was one of their underlying ethics.) One more artist who
contributed to the change of impression in teenagers is Buffalo Springfield. For what it s worth is
another protest song written in 1966. Although the literal meaning of the song is about hippies

The forces that have affected change in nations around the world have always brought about

by revolutionaries who desired a free society in which free trade, free markets, and free labor

The Third Estate soon declared to be the National Assembly , which should determine France s
future. Outbreak soon came into play on July 14, 1789 as Parisians attacked a medieval armory

This was to be known as Bastille Day, which declared a new era of liberty, equality and fraternity.
A declaration was established to guarantee all French citizens nation liberties and all men

because of the violent nature to revolt and go against irrational laws. The French Revolution was

Madame Bovary Characteristics
Flaubert s Madame Bovary concludes with Monsieur Homais ecstatic because of his triumph in
receiving the medal of the Legion of Honor. Homais, the town pharmacist in Yonville, spends most
of his time adulating people in authority and attempting to publicize his good deeds to reach his
success at the end novel. Moreover, Homais s immoral and self serving actions clearly display that
he is certainly the last character in Madame Bovarythat deserves to be encompassed in glory when
the story has finished. Although it originally seems that Homais is an insignificant character who
will chatter incessantly to anyone with social status, he ends up serving as one of the chief players
who unfolds Flaubert s themes. Flaubert, through her description of the apothecary, characterizes
the age of modernity to be synonymous with the new bourgeoisie class that has emerged in France.
The faith in scientific or technological development, the increasing secularism of the era, and the
prioritization of the individual were all themes of the time period. Flaubert uses the town
pharmacist to portray the issues she noticed in 19th century France. Homais arises as an ironic
depiction of the modern man through his interaction with Hippolyte and the beggar, his attempts to
promote his status through self interested endeavors and flattering those with power, and his
conversations with the priest of Yonville. As the apothecary in town, Homais desires to educate
himself on any new medicines or medical

Joe Biden Pros And Cons
Joe Biden is certainly the best presidential candidate for 2016 because of his solid efforts to protect
the environment, his pragmatic method to enforce stricter gun control policies, and his constructive
outlook on reforming illegal immigration policies. Biden, an alumnus of the University of
Delaware and Syracuse Law School, was elected to the United StatesSenate at age 29. He served as
Senator of Delaware for 36 years. Biden subsequently became Vice President under the Obama
Administration in 2009. Biden is one of the most experienced Presidential contenders, with over 40

Biden said at a gathering at the United States Chamber of Commerce in March 2014. These

Double Standards In Chronicles Of A Death Fortold By...
In the Columbian society portrayed in the novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel
Marquez, there is a significant double standard regarding gender. They live in a world where
women have to follow extreme societal and cultural expectations. Men are encouraged to be
experienced in the bedroom for their weddingnight but if a woman is not a virgin, she is deemed
unfit to marry. Women are taught when they are brought up that lovecan be learned (page 35) and
that they must marry whoever impresses their familywhile men can choose whoever they want.
When she doesn t obey to the image of a perfect women Santiago Nasar is killed in the name of
her honor. The result of these double standards leads directly to the death of Santiago Nasar in
Chronicles of a Death Foretold. The idea that for women, love is something that can be taught
and they are brought up to suffer while men can choose whoever they would like especially if
they charm their family, is a significant unjust double standard that results in the death of Santiago
Nasar. Santiago was murdered for supposedly taking Angela s virginity. This was cause for his
death because not being a virgin deemed you unfit to be married and soiled or impure, she was
garbage if she wasn t a virgin.
When Bayardo San Roman found out she wasn t a virgin he returned her to her family, honor

The History of American Literature
The history of American Literature starts well before this land was even called America. It has
been a great evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to today s Stephen King and
Danielle Steele. Literature has gone through many phases and was impacted by great events and
ideas in American history. The earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as
America were far from what modern day people would consider Literature . The Natives who
inhabited this land first had unwritten ways of passing on experiences, beliefs, and stories. Natives
relied heavily on the verbal telling of these stories to younger generations. The same stories, fables,

Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as theology and
history. His Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was instrumental in introducing the
smallpox vaccine to New England. A new genre for American writers, the travel narrative, would
become especially influential late in the 1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the
Interior Parts of North America (1778) by Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South
Carolina, Georgia, East and West Florida, the Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram .
Travel stories often blended observations on nature and landscape with tales of personal courage
and achievement. The first American newspaper, the Boston News Letter, was founded in 1704,
and joined by the Boston Gazette in 1719. At a time when newspaper journalism was concerned
primarily with reporting political events, the New England Courant, started by James Franklin in
1721, became the first newspaper to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger brother
Benjamin Franklin published humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of
Silence Dogwood . Magazines also appeared for the first time in the colonies during the mid 1700s.
Before 1800 magazines were concerned primarily with measuring America s developing culture
against the British model. During the 1700s Boston and Philadelphia became centers of publishing
in addition to being political and commercial centers.

Analysis Of The Poem The Dead
McCrea and Cheng have differing views on the role of identity within Joyce s The Dead. McCrea
argues that identity is incomplete because of the limitations of language whereas Cheng argues that
the cultural atmosphere shapes identity. I, however, agree with certain aspects of both arguments.
Firstly, I believe that McCrea s focus on failed communication is needed to understand the nature of
identity within The Dead; however, McCrea incorrectly blames everything on the failure of
language, when the individual and society is also partly responsible. Therefore, I believe that
Cheng s argument, that the environment partly forms identity, is valid; however, he needlessly
restricts the Conroys identities by directly comparing them to Britain and Ireland. I will use
Cheng s focus on a culturally formed identity in tandem with McCrea s thematic focus on failed
communication within The Dead to answer the question of why Gabriel Conroy s identity fades at
the end of The Dead (248). To answer this question, I will consider Gabriel s personal thoughts
about himself, others, and how he responds to each challenge he receives to his personhood.
First, we must discuss the state of Gabriel s identity before it fades. Before it fades, he is
misunderstood. This fact is seen when Gabriel has a conversation with Lily. During this
conversation, Gabriel exclaims that I suppose we ll be going to your wedding one of these fine
days with your young man (197). Lily responds, with great

Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example,
Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting
metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become
a beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic
meaning because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless
one may feel and if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon,
in the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another
example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito

symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that

The type of naturalism in the setting of To Build a Fire is a metaphysical naturalism. Metaphysical
naturalism affirms that the natural world is the only real one, and that the human race is not

of mental health facilities and providers, most of these patients require hospitalization due to their
illness, or end up in correctional facilities due to the behaviors related to there mental illness.
Improving access to impatient and outpatient clinics is a concern for most patients who suffer from
mental health issues. Most patients with mental health concerns are unable to keep up with job
demands and tend to have no form of insurance, which leaves them with very limited resources for

adults and children with mental health related disorders and one major concern for these patients
was the stigma that came along with there condition.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the healthcare system we want to treat patients accordingly by promoting optimal goals to
achieve. But, even within the healthcare system where stigmas and bias judgments should not be

(2016) explains the difficulties in obtaining mental health care in uninsured people and individuals

  • 5. Cultural Experience Reflection Paper Cultural Experience Reflection: Spain, Healing Dirt, and Amores Perros When learning a new language, educating, experiencing, and learning about the culture behind the language is paramount. It is not simple enough to learn the vocabulary and grammar of Spanish. As a Spanish 1010 student, my learning experience has been enriched through participating in cultural events. Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the language and native speakers. Over the last semester, I participated in the following three cultural experiences: traveling to Spain, attending the Healing Dirt event, and watching the movie Amores Perros. Fortunately for me, these three events covered a variety of issue areas (e.g., religious traditions, language dynamics, and machismo); additionally, each event was based in different Spanish speaking countries. Over the past summer, I traveled to Spain and was able experienced the culture and traditions of the Hispanic people for two weeks. I was struck by how language and cultural heritage played a major role in shaping the experiences of Hispanic people. The role of language plays a huge role in shaping the experiences and lives of the people living in Barcelona. In the city of Barcelona, Catalan and Spanish are the languages spoken. Furthermore, the government only provides free education to learn Catalan, not Spanish. This preservation of the Catalonian culture represents the ongoing effort of the Catalonians to gain independence from Spain. Through preserving the native Catalonian language through law and education, these Hispanic people show how they adamantly defend their heritage and place high value on preserving Catalonian culture. I recognized the respect the other Barcelonans had for the Catalonian people. Though their cultures have many fundamental differences, the non Catalonians living in Barcelona learn how to speak Catalan in order to communicate, but also to validate the integrity of their cross culture interactions. This enables an open discussion politically and socially on the issues both cultures bring to the discussion. After traveling through Spain, I was inspired by the people to learn how to speak ... • 6. Bigfoot Evolution Bigfoot is a species of North American ape. How it s possible: When the earth had one supercontinent, a species of ape from Asia migrated to North America using a land bridge connecting Russia and Alaska. Over time, the continents spread apart which prevented the two populations from interacting. The smaller gene pool of the North American paired with the new environment led to the new population favoring different alleles. As a result the population of North American apes grew larger and began to favor walking on their back legs. How it could be proven: Use DNA testing to evaluate the similarities between modern and/or extinct species of apes from Asia and Bigfoots. Unit connections: Evolution (founder effect, speciation), Ecology (organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The descriptions of these two species tend to be very similar; they re tall, hairy, human like beasts that walk on their hind legs. Is it possible that these are two species were once one? And are they still capable of reproducing with one another? Scientists have found that grizzly bears and polar bears, when put together, produce viable and fertile offspring. This technically makes the two bears one species. Logistically, however, the two are not considered of the same species because they live so far apart that in nature it is very rare that the two would breed, although it has happened before. Therefore, there is a prezygotic barrier rather than a postzygotic barrier. The same may be for Bigfoots and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You were either born a boy, or a girl. I just think that you should not be born one thing and then change into something totally different. At the same time, the undeniable predicaments that the revolution was met by the upholders of the system enabled the World Revolution of 1968 to be lost in uprisals failing to bring about the change that it set out to achieve. May 1968 was the most advanced movement of an exceptional year of struggle that remains a high point of the post WWII era. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boy knows all about largemouth bass, even their scientific name. He also has all the name brand equipment for fishing such as Pflueger and Rapala. The name brand equipment is important because it must mean he is extremely committed to fishing. The last reason he might choose the bass is because he is extremely dedicated to fishing. As the text states, I say automatically, because I never went anywhere that summer without a fishing rod (Wetherell 2). The boy was constantly fishing or practicing his casts. Fishing was not something he had to think about, it was just instinct to grab his rod anytime he went somewhere. Fishing for bass is tremendously automatic for the boy. Secondly, the other decision the boy might make is to pick Sheila. He might select Sheila because he creeps on her constantly. As explained in the story, I had learned all her moods. If she lay flat on the diving board...Sitting up, arms tucked around her long, suntanned legs, she was approachable (Wetherell 1). The boy was regularly creeping on Sheila and learning all her poses. • 15. The Assessment Of Osborne And Waters In statistical tests, we must rely on assumptions regarding the variables we used in the analysis. If these assumptions are not met we may arrive at results that are incorrect, or not representative of the population, typically due to a Type I or a Type II error, or an over or under estimation of significance or effect size. Osborne and Waters (n.d., p. 1) quote an 1997 article by Pedhazur stating Knowledge and understanding of the situations when violations of assumptions lead to serious biases, and when they are of little consequence, are essential to meaningful data analysis which while a very important point, really only holds importance when researchers test assumptions, an important step in data analysis that is rarely performed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tests give researchers information about normality, while the K S tests provide inferential statistics on normality. One of the best tests for outliers is a visual inspection of histograms, as well as frequency distributions or converting data to z scores. The removal of univariate and bivariate outliers can reduce the probability of Type I and Type II errors, which improve the accuracy of some estimates. It is important to consider that removing outliers is not always desirable, in which case transformations can improve normality. This can complicate the interpretation of the results, and therefore should only be used deliberately and in an informed manner. To accurately estimate the relationship between dependent and independent variables using standard multiple regression, these relationships must be linear in nature. This is why it is so important to examine analyses for non linear data, as non linear data will result in a regression analysis that under estimates the true relationship. Under estimation carries some risk, in particular an increased chance of Type II errors for the independent variable, and in the case of multiple regression, an increased risk of Type I errors (over estimation) for other independent variables that share variance with that variable. There are a few primary ways to detect non linearity in the data. The use of theory or previous research can be used to inform current analyses, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to preserve and increase the number of the elephants in Asia, these animals should be protected and reintroduced to the wild and their habitats must be restored and expanded. One of the greatest threats to Asian elephants in Asia is the loss of habitat. Throughout the tropical regions of Asia, humans have cleared large areas of forest and river valleys for settlement (AMNH.org, par. 3). The World Wildlife Fund states that large industrial and development projects such as dams, tea and coffee plantations, roads, and railway lines have broken up what was once elephant habitats into small fragments (par. 1). This fragmentation process hinders the seasonal migration and breeding of the clan. In addition, habitat loss also affects the elephant s diet. According to National Geographic, an adult elephant consumes up to 300 pounds of food every day (par. 5). These hungry animals do not sleep much, and they roam over great distances while foraging for the large quantities of food they require to sustain their massive bodies, (National Geographic, par. 6). Without having a big chunk of land for the elephants to graze and roam around, their lifestyles and well being would be in danger. Marketing is the core of communication between a corporation and its target audience, facilitated by widespread consumption and significantly influenced by consumer demand. It also serves as a platform that allows a company s message to exploit media platforms in the attempt to gain a successful customer response and induce behaviours that will propel economic expansion. Despite the indisputable benefits of marketingto companies and consumers, the occasional antagonistic motives behind its evident necessity is a point of interest because of how marketing approaches are being utilised as a transmission channel for corporations to promote unhealthy competition, such as eliciting the disrepute of another brand or falsifying product specifications for higher turnover, or induce psychological and behavioural change within the society. Nonetheless, marketing fosters innovation, prevents market complacency and functions as a catalyst for the promotion of consumer worthy products and services. The principle basis of a profitable relationship between a company and its consumer audience is marketing. It is therefore important for corporations to conduct appropriate market research to identify the needs of its target market, determine how to prevail over existing competition and analyse potential threats towards productivity and profitability. • 34. Analysis Of The Poem The Dead McCrea and Cheng have differing views on the role of identity within Joyce s The Dead. McCrea argues that identity is incomplete because of the limitations of language whereas Cheng argues that the cultural atmosphere shapes identity. I, however, agree with certain aspects of both arguments. Firstly, I believe that McCrea s focus on failed communication is needed to understand the nature of identity within The Dead; however, McCrea incorrectly blames everything on the failure of language, when the individual and society is also partly responsible. Therefore, I believe that Cheng s argument, that the environment partly forms identity, is valid; however, he needlessly restricts the Conroys identities by directly comparing them to Britain and Ireland. I will use Cheng s focus on a culturally formed identity in tandem with McCrea s thematic focus on failed communication within The Dead to answer the question of why Gabriel Conroy s identity fades at the end of The Dead (248). To answer this question, I will consider Gabriel s personal thoughts about himself, others, and how he responds to each challenge he receives to his personhood. First, we must discuss the state of Gabriel s identity before it fades. Before it fades, he is misunderstood. This fact is seen when Gabriel has a conversation with Lily. During this conversation, Gabriel exclaims that I suppose we ll be going to your wedding one of these fine days with your young man (197). Lily responds, with great ... This means that internal controls might not be fluid in terms of evolution with the changes experienced in technology, business and the fraud environment. Second is the immunity of the internal control systems. For instance, if a company s internal control system has weak control policies for its procedures and processes, then the company becomes a target for both internal and external criminal activities. • 42. Sandra Cisneros Sandra Cisneros, an author who is deeply inspired by her Mexican American heritage. This inspiration is clearly shown throughout every one of her writing pieces such as Salvador Late or Early and Eleven . Both short stories focus on adolescents with a mature mindset and adult precision, and each story does a marvelous job portraying Cisneros constant writing style. Salvador Late or Early is focusing on a young boy, Salvador, with heavy burdens to carry on his shoulders, which is unfortunate because he is such a young boy with an old soul. The responsibilities he has are unimaginable due to the fact they don t pertain to his age. Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example, Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become a beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal storm, the sun will soon come out and he will find a rainbow. One example of figurative language in Eleven is when Rachel uses similes such as Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little ... Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire Man vs. Nature in Jack London s To Build a Fire Since the dawn of time, mankind has had to struggle to survive against the adverse conditions caused by Mother Nature. The theme to Jack London s To Build a Fire is no different. To Build a Fire is a tragic story about the main protagonist s effort to conquer the hostile environment in extreme sub freezingtemperature leading to his undesired fate. The environment being the Yukon, is a bitterly cold environment with man or without man. The protagonist being the man has to deal with these hardships, first being his critical goal of reaching the camp, to fighting frostbite, to merely surviving the night. This sets up the short story s central theme, that mankind lives a solitary existence which is subject to the relentless, unconquerable forces of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The type of naturalism in the setting of To Build a Fire is a metaphysical naturalism. Metaphysical naturalism affirms that the natural world is the only real one, and that the human race is not separate from it, but belongs to it as a part (Donald 1). London illustrates that the man is forced to succumb to nature because he has absolutely no control over it and is merely a part of it. With London s initial descriptive words, he utilizes the weather to foreshadow the challenges that the man will face and provides the reader with a naturalistic approach on how nature will take tow on the man . The descriptions of the setting shows the reader how powerful nature is and how the man cannot conquer nature because he is a part of it. Public Health Issues Approaching mental health as public health issue is a highly controversial matter, especially when the public is not educated or already have there own bias towards mental health. I feel that mental health is a public health issue and a major concern that should be addressed by local and state officials along with health care professionals and the community in general. Due to the limitations of mental health facilities and providers, most of these patients require hospitalization due to their illness, or end up in correctional facilities due to the behaviors related to there mental illness. Improving access to impatient and outpatient clinics is a concern for most patients who suffer from mental health issues. Most patients with mental health concerns are unable to keep up with job demands and tend to have no form of insurance, which leaves them with very limited resources for help or therapy.
