How To Become An Organ Donor
When an individual becomes sixteen years of age, they are faced with a life changing decision:
whether or not they should become an organ donor. While a person is deciding whether or not to
become an organ donor for life, they are choosing to donate their organs to other individuals once they
have passed away. Although an individual may not believe becoming an organ donor can have an
effect on a person s life, they are tragically mistaken. While the choice to become an organ donor has
an effect on the donor s family, it also has an unimaginable effect on not only the recipient s life and
the family s lives as well. Organ donations are made possible due to the unexpected deaths of
individuals that are willing to donate their organs to people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a common belief among many individuals which in turn causes them to opt out of becoming an
organ donor. However, many individuals don t realize when they opt out of becoming a donor due to
this belief; they are then possibly causing another individual to lose their life. For instance, if an
individual believed they would receive a lesser amount of medical attention and decided not to
become an organ donor, then one day contracted a life threatening medical problem and passed away
because of it even though they received the normal amount of medical attention, their organs would
then be of no use because they never gave permission for their organs to be donated to those
individuals who needed them. This in turn means one of the one hundred and twenty thousand
individuals on the organ transplantation list will most likely lose their life, because one selfish
individual was more concerned about living their own life as opposed to sacrificing their life for
another

Ch. 12 13 DNA Protein Synthesis Project
By Anthony Li, Connor Farrell, John Koutsonikolis, and Tristan Funicelli
(Tristan) # Describe the contributions of each of the following to the discovery of the structure of
DNA 1) Watson and Crick: Used Rosalind Franklin s x rays of DNA to conclude that DNA took the
shape of a double helix. 2) Frederick Miescher: Used pus from infections to isolate nuclein. He found
that nuclein had a unique ratio of phosphorous to nitrogen. 3) Oswald Avery: Tested many strains of
bacteria and discovered that DNA carries a cell s genetic code and can be altered through
transformations. 4) Rosalind Franklin: Used x ray diffractions to take pictures of the structure of
DNA. The pictures alluded to DNA s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A/T and G/C have equal amounts in DNA. This is why they pair up.
(Tristan) # Explain the process by which DNA is able to make copies of itself also including an
explanation of why it is considered semiconservative replication There are four steps to replication
1) Unwind: Helicase splits a DNA section in half at the replication fork.
2) Unzips: DNA Polymerase breaks the hydrogen bonds and unwinds the section.
3) Copy: DNA Polymerase joins individual nucleotides with their complementary counterparts to form
a new strand of DNA. Replication runs in the 5 to 3 direction.
4) Rewind: The DNA section is zipped back up and winded up again.
DNA replication is considered semiconservative because each new strand of DNA contains only half
of the original DNA strand.

Prokaryotic Chromosomes
Prokaryotes typically have a single circular chromosome
Are condensed in the nucleoid via DNA supercoiling and binding of architectural
proteinsTranscription and translation occur at the same time
Most only contain a single copy of each gene
Genomes are efficient and compact with very little of the same DNA
Eukaryotic Chromosomes
Contain multiple linear chromosomes
Condensed in a nucleus with a membrane by histones

Environmental Resources Of Port River Estuary
Introduction
An estuary is semi enclosed bay where sea water mixes with freshwater. They are home to 70% of the
world s marine life. The port river estuary defines the areas of North Haven, outer harbour, barker
inlet, Torrens Island, the St Kilda mangroves and other areas near to the coastline. It is located
approximately 20km north west of the city of Adelaide. The following report will discuss the
environmental resources and humans have affected the local ecosystems.
Environmental Resources of the Port River Estuary
The Port River Estuary has a wide variety of natural resources. This is mainly due to its large size. The
Port River Estuary has a 346km2 catchment. In the catchment there are about 6.3km2 of salt marshes,
7.2km2 of mudflat area and 17km2 of mangroves. The Port River Estuary supports the growth of
seagrass, some ground vegetation and many different varieties of fish. Some of the main fish species
that use the Estuary for a habitat are king gorge whiting, yellow fin whiting and southern sea garfish.
The estuary also supports about 57 different species of waterbirds and some dolphins. Due to the
estuary s large size and access to the ocean, the vast majority of South Australia s importing and
exporting of cargo. Another resource of the estuary is the dolphin sanctuary, which a large amount of
the estuary. It was built to protect dolphins in the estuary from human activity. The most obvious
resource that is found in the Port River Estuary is water, salt and

Propose An On Demand Qos Routing Algorithm Essay
The main objective of this paper is to propose an on demand QoS routing algorithm. Since the
requirements for various applications may vary time to time, the approach for QoS routing may not be
proactive. The proposed approach has two phases namely route discovery phase and route
maintenance phase. When a source node has to pass data to a destination node with QoS requirements
it starts with the route discovery phase. Once the route is found, the data transfer will take place.
While data transmission is going on, it is also required to maintain the path to the destination. This is
very much desirable and required in mobile ad hoc networks and hence is done in the route
maintenance phase. Introduction In Mobile presence service is a vital component of a social network
applications due to mobile user s presence details such as global positioning system location, network
address, and online/offline status are continuously apprise to user s online buddies. A mobile ubiquity
services is an important element of cloud computing environments, for the reason it keeps an up to
date list of presence information of mobile user. If presence updates occur often the number of
messages distributed by presence server may lead to scalability problem and buddy list search
problem in large scale mobile presence services. To overcome the scalability problem proposed an
efficient and ascendable server architecture called presence cloud. It organizes the presence server into

The Early Stages Of Drug Prohibition
Many currently illegal drugs, such as marijuana, opium, coca, and psychedelics have been used for
thousands of years for both medical and spiritual purposes.
The Early Stages of Drug Prohibition
Why are some drugs legal and other drugs illegal today? It s not based on any scientific assessment of
the relative risks of these drugs but it has everything to do with who is associated with these drugs.
The first anti opium laws in the 1870s were directed at Chinese immigrants. The first anti cocaine
laws, in the South in the early 1900s, were directed at black men. The first anti marijuana laws, in the
Midwest and the Southwest in the 1910s and 20s, were directed at Mexican migrants and Mexican
Americans. Today, Latino and especially black communities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Fads In The 1920 s
Throughout American history and the 1900 s, fads have been a hugely successful form of self
expression. From fashion, to recreation, to dumb and sometimes dangerous things that youths do, fads
are a way to distract from the troubles of the world and find something else fun to do. The first, and
best known fads were in the 1920 s with flapper style, speakeasies, and flagpole sitting. Flapper style
was rather simple; short, boyish hair, flat chests and long beaded gowns. Due to Prohibition, or
making liquor and alcoholic beverages illegal, speakeasies were popular; underground, secret bars
requiring a password. The long skirts helped women bootleg (or smuggle) the liquor. The term
bootlegging comes from tying bottles to one s leg to smuggle it. Another fad was flagpole sitting. In
1924, actor Alvin Shipwreck Kelly sat on a flagpole for 13 hours and 13 minutes, as a publicity ...

Teenagers and college students all over America participated in telephone booth stuffing, panty raids,
and dance a thons. Telephone booth stuffing involved shoving as many people as possible into a
telephone booth, the more the better. This fad reached to South Africa, where the record for most
people in a telephone booth was set: 25 male students fit into a telephone booth at one time. Panty
raids were also invented in the 1950 s when people (specifically men) would go into the opposite sex s
room and go through their drawers until finding a pair of underwear, which they would then take and
parade around. It started as a mens activity, but women soon took their revenge and raided the mens
rooms as well. Dance a thons were also popular in these 1950 s, where people would dance until
exhaustion, and whoever danced longest won a monetary prize. Many dances were invented to be
done during dance a thons, including the stroll, the lindy, the jive, the jimbo, and the mashed potato.
The limbo was also invented during the 1950 s and is still popular

Foils Of Fortinbras In Hamlet
A story would go nowhere without the characters making something happen. Characters are used for
everything in a story, they set the scene, make the plot happen, and everything inbetween.
Characterization is a major deal for writers because without proper characterization, the plot will not
be able to go the way they want it to. This is also a big factor for the play, Hamlet, by William
Shakespeare. He uses so many different characters to really push certain things to the audience, and to
make the reader understand it so well. The use of the foils, which is the use of two completely
opposite characters, in the play really helps get across the point that Shakespeare wants to convey to
the reader . Without the use of these foils, the play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hamlet, and make sure he was making the right decisions, but Hamlet was very quick to make

was not quick to avenge his father s death, was quick to many other actions, and Horatio was a lot
more guarded on what he thought Hamlet should do. Without Horatio, no one would have been
watching out for Hamlet, Horatio was used to be an example of just how cautious Hamlet should have

The Characteristics Of The Public Sector
Introduction
Apple was founded on April 1st, 1971 in Cupertino, California. It is a celebrious company and highly
praised by consumers and it s critics for innovative technology; revolutionizing communication and
interaction as well as completing objectives whether for school, work or leisurely use. The company is
generally known for it s wide range of products from iPhones to MacBooks and many more. It is a
forerunner in the computer hardware, software and electronics industry.

A) To some economists, Apple essentially falls into the private sector, however, in reality, it is part of
the public sector. Like all companies that fall within the public sector category, they are generally

Apple is an incorporation, meaning they have declared themselves as a corporate entity separate from
it s owners. I would recommend this type of business practice because of it s benefits. Some benefits
of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies liabilities,
the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective transfer of
ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate rather than on
personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective bubble around the
company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners. Hence, business
structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable recommendation.
B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by
different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their internal.
macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key components the
number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the company. Apple has
well over 100,000 employees. The company s current CEO, Tim Cook has a unique style to how he

Reflection On Volunteering At Ruth Fyfe Elementary School
For my community service project I will be volunteering at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School. After
contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge was to
work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to
help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a
personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe

class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the
students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally
engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if
they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference
in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The
4th graders were more literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their
reading, but I can only help to an extent because I have a problem with reading fast as well. In

Nicaraguan Freedom Fighter Essay
The United States government has been caught doing nefarious acts against other countries for years,
from selling WMDs to Saddam Hussein or nuking Japan with the atom bomb. One of these acts was
the support of the Nicaraguan Freedom Fighters . The Freedom Fighters or the Contras, were a group
who rebelled against the Nicaraguan government, which was lead by a Communist named Daniel
Ortega, and were supported by the Reagan administration. Because of the debacle with the Nicaraguan
Freedom Fighters , the United States government lost credibility with other nations of the world.
The United States government was caught lying to the public. According to Doyle McManus, a Los

Essay on Shintoism and Buddhism
Shintoism and Buddhism
The Japanese religions, including Shintosim and Buddhism, are rich and complex, and it contains
many condradictory trends which may puzzle a Westerner. In the center of the tradition is Shinto, the
natural religion of Japan. Also in the center is Buddhism, the Indian religion that was brought to Japan
in the sixth century from Korea and China. Throughout the history of Japan, it has been these two
religions that have contributed most to the Japanese understanding of themselves and their
surroundings, and also to many important events.

These shrines are usually simple buildings surrounded by trees. Here is an example of one:
Before they would arrive at the shrines, the Shintoists would purify themselves by washing their hands
and rinsing their mouth. They will bow twice deeply, clap their hands twice, bow once more and then,
they would offer gifts, such as food, to the Kami. Then, they say a short prayer. The prayer usually
urges the Kami to withhold bad weather. The people did not want bad weather, because it would
destroy their crop. Shintoists also pray for good fortune and to avoid evil spirits, especially before a
special event, such as the opening of a business, a test or exam in school, or something else that is
important. They will then offer the Kami a choice offering if the crop is spared. But the Japanese do
not fear the Kami.
The Buddhist rituals are performed by Shinto priests, private people who can marry and have children.
There are even female priests. The priests are supported by the Miko, young ladies in white kimonos.
They must be unmarried, and are often the preist s daughters. Also, in contrast to the Western
religions, there are no absolutes, although there is a goddess, Amaterasu Omikami, the Sun goddess.
An absolute is an object of worship that is always present, such as a God. But, a certain kind of
weather is not an absolute, because the weather can change at any moment.
Shinto is a very optimistic faith. It is thought by it s followers that all

Sterilization and Disinfection in a Dental Office Essays
There are two important things to do in a dental office in order to prevent cross infection. These two
forms are sterilization and disinfection. According to the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration
before either of these forms can be used you have to clean the instruments. This can be done either by
hand or by using an ultrasonic cleaner.

two. Sterilization is the process of killing all microorganisms. Where disinfection is the process of

is as it sounds, dry heat utilizes hot air that is either free from water vapor, or has very little of it, and
where this moisture plays a minimal or no role in the process. The way dry heat sterilizes is by
coagulating the proteins in any organism, thus causing drying of cells. Dry heat can even burn them to
ashes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_heat_sterilization The last form of sterilization I am going to
talk about is cold sterile. The reason for cold sterile is not all items can go into heat sterilization.
Liquid sterilant, such as 2% to 3.4% glutataldehyde, must be used for this type of sterilization. In
order for the cold sterile to work the items must be fully submerged for no less than 10 hours,
anything less than that would only be disinfection. This form of sterilization also requires a material
safety data sheet due to it being a chemical.

How Does Tim O Brien Use Anaphora In The Ghost Soldier
In The Ghost Soldiers vignette from The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien uses anaphora in the form
of repeating the word you to place the reader in his war experience, ultimately to portray how war can
transform any individual to become illusioned and rely on only the logic of their instincts. When O
Brien describes his understanding of fear after pulling several night guard duties in Vietnam, he
describes it to be where you think about dark closets, mad men, murderers under the bed, all those

the footsteps of heroes in entertainment, and he wants to emphasize this point to the readers: You re

history and your own future, or leaving behind everything you ever were or wanted or believed in.
You know you re about to die. And it s not a movie and you aren t a hero and all you can do is
whimper and wait (211). The emotions he feels at the time is hard to put into words, and so he makes
the reader try to experience it, just as he wants Bobby Jorgenson to experience it. Because O Brien has

the French artist and theatritician Antonin Artaud (1896 1948). Artaud spent much of his life in and
out of asylums and addicted to laudanum and other opiates prescribed to help his so called madness .
During his free times, he wrote, acted, and traveled. Artaud was profoundly moved by a Balinese
dance he saw in 1931. He traveled to Mexico in 1936, lived with a group of Tarahumaran Indians, and
experimented with peyote. He was institutionalized in 1937, following an incident in Ireland. His
friends were able to get him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He frequently uses the term hieroglyph as a way to represent something visually and without words, as
the Egyptians did with hieroglyphs. Artaud seems to prefer the strict rules of Balinese theatre to the
relative freedom of European/Occidental theatre. Of this idea of pure theatre, which is merely
theoretical in the Occident and to which no one has ever attempted to give the least reality, the
Balinese off us a stupefying realization, suppressing all possibility of recourse to words for the
elucidation of the most abstract themes inventing a language of gesture to be developed in space, a
language without meaning except in the circumstances of the stage (61). Oriental and Occidental
Theatre Here Artaud criticizes Occidental theatre for its dependence on the word and praises Oriental
theatre for its independence from it. Again, Oriental theatre is superior because of its use of imagery
and its metaphysical nature, whereas Occidental theatre is inferior because it is absorbed in
psychology and internal struggles. It is not a matter of suppressing speech in the theatre but of
changing its role, and especially of reducing its position, of considering it as something else than a
means of conducting human characters to their external ends, since the theatre is concerned only with
the way feelings and passions conflict with one another, and man with man, in life (72). No More

A Short Note On Migraine s Effect Of Migraine For...
Migraine Scientific Research Proposal

Migraine Headaches. Authors: Sally Mannix, Anne Skalicky, Dawn Buse, Pooja Desai, Sandhya

Question to be Investigated
Multiple people with migraines experience many difficulties that affect their daily life, overall
contentment of life, ability to live life fully because of the symptoms associate with a migraine
headache. With little support and evidence, it is difficult to find a natural approach to migraine
treatment and to provide relief. If a migraine can be treated naturally, what steps will need to be taken
by the individuals who are seeking relief from migraine pain and improve quality of life?
Hypothesis and Prediction
If environmental factors can cause a migraine attack then changes in an individuals sleep cycle,
food/drink, hormones, external stimuli, weather changes and stress levels will be able to lessen the
severity of a migraine, lessen the symptoms or completely prevent a migraine attack. If the hypothesis
that environmental factors cause a migraine attack is positively supported, then the results will be that
the symptoms of a migraine have

Scientific Naturalism
E. Existential Viability
Does scientific naturalism successfully explain the origin of life? The answer is yes, and no. Scientific
naturalism explains how life functions quite well, but it fails miserably in explaining how and where
life came from. Nobody who understands biology will argue that evolution does not occur, in the
narrow understanding that certain changes happen naturally. Johnson reminds us of a famous piece of
evidence for Darwinism that most of us learned about in science class. It was a study of an English
peppered moth population consisting of both dark and light colored moths. During the industrial
revolution, smoke from the factories darkened the surrounding trees with soot. This caused the
percentage of dark colored moths to increase, due to their advantage in hiding from predators. The
light colored moths were obviously at a disadvantage and their numbers decreased.
When the air pollution decreased, the trees became lighter due to not being covered in soot, the light
colored moths began to increase while the dark colored moths decreased. Both colors were present
during this time, and so no new characteristics were created. The percentage of dark colored and light
colored moths increased and decreased as the changing conditions affected their relative ability to
survive and create offspring.
Scientific naturalists (Darwinists) will use this example to show that this proves evolution is a fact,
and that natural selection is simply a directing

Social Classes In The 19th Century
If the lower classes are not controlled it will be hard to maintain the social structure and prevent
internal conflict. In most societies throughout World History, a small, rich ruling class has dominated
the social and political aspects of society. The large majority of the population has always been in the
lower classes of society, and controlling these classes through fear, brute force, economic oppression
or appeasement is instrumental to maintain order. Failing to maintain control often leads revolts, social
upheavals or violent class struggles. While in most societies the upper classes attempted to control
lower classes, some were not successful. In the Roman Empire slaves were subjected to difficult work
and conditions. This led to many slave revolts during the second and ... Show more content on

the masses of lower class people which led to revolts and unrest. In other instances, civil order was
maintained, due to those with power controlling the lower classes. An example of this occurs in India,

Quotes From Stormbreaker
Although death is one option, we choose to choose other options to get our way out of it, even when
going through death threatening events. In the book, Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, Alex s
Uncle dies to a Russian spy called, Yassen. Alex s uncle, Ian Rider lied about him working for a Bank,
but instead worked for an Agent corporation. Alex soon becomes a spy, working for the corporation
and goes into a life threatening mission, to stop Stormbreaker.
The novel is a life lesson for the children of our generation, especially in since everyone lies to get

Norman Bates Character Analysis
Norman Bates is a middle aged man who is the owner of a not so popular motel along with his mother.
For many years Norman has lived alone with no friends, family, or even many visitors to keep him
company. But it was not like he was actively seeking out human interaction either, rather it seems as if
he has tried to avoid it. There are many examples of his antisocial tendencies, such as when mother
yells at him for not attracting people to the motel or doing his job: Why didn t you turn on the sign
when it got dark? And why aren t you up at the office where you belong? (Bloch 12 13). One would

reinforcing the fact that he is in fact not talking to his actual mother, but rather the personality he
developed in his mind after her passing. The only only way a momma s boy could cope with such a
traumatic incident is to act like she has never been gone. When Norman kills he thinks it is his mother

Notes On The Messiah And The Psalms By Richard P. Belcher Jr.
Introduction This forum post presents the Christological Approach to the Psalms and then describes
the five major categories of Psalms relating to Jesus the Messiah: the (1) Royal Psalms, (2)
Typological Prophetic Psalms, (3) Prophetic Typological Psalms, (4) Prophetic Messianic Psalms, and
(5) Eschatological Psalms.
Christological Approach to the Psalms
The Christological Approach to the Psalms is presented and described by Richard P. Belcher Jr. in his
book The Messiah and the Psalms: Preaching Christ from all the Psalms. The Christological Approach
to the Psalms is based on the hermeneutical principle Jesus taught in Luke 24:26 27, 44 47. Jesus,
following his resurrection, was walking with two disciples and explained to them These are My words
which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law
of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). The principle is that all the
Old Testament can be viewed as relating to Jesus not just those passages that directly address Jesus as
Messiah. Given the Christological Approach to the Psalms, the five categories of the Psalms can be
discerned. The information on the five categories of Psalms is summarized from materials presented
by Dr. Gary Yates.
Royal Psalms
A Royal Psalm is about the historical king of that day but these Psalms also point to Jesus the
Messiah. As a result, Royal Psalms are indirectly Messianic. According C. Hassell Bullock

Designing A More Productive Manner During Construction...
In order to perform any task in a more productive manner during construction, equipment must be
used. Depending on the scope of work and the size of the job more than one piece of machinery may
be used; the model, size, and people operating the equipment will differ too. The equipment,
personnel, area, and project factors may be different for every job but they all share a common factor,
risk. This factor aids contractors to determine the type of equipment to choose and the supplier to
provide the equipment for the project as well.
Choosing the right equipment for the project is a major risk the contractor must be able to handle.
They must analysis and completely understand the project; such as understanding the type of soil to be

Each specific area in construction uses various types of equipment, every piece of equipment has a
different purpose. The contractor must determine for each project and the scope of work assign what
equipment to use, and whether to buy or rent the equipment. For example, if a contractor specializes in
concrete work and it is a job that they perform regularly, it would benefit them owning the necessary
equipment; such as mixer and pump. This allows them to have the availability of the equipment when
it is required. However they are responsible for all the maintenance on the equipment and inspecting it
frequently, in order to keep it operating properly (pg90). If these services are not performed regularly
the contractor risk the equipment being damaged or not performing to the norm. They also must be
aware of the operating cost and depreciation value of the vehicle; in order to receive funds from some
of the equipments retained market value (pg 92) . Now in a job that requires a special type of
equipment, one not familiar with the contractor, renting may be the best option. In renting the risk
factor is also there, the supplier may not have the equipment available for the time being requested or
may be too far of a distance from the job site.
Thus location of the project site also has some effects to the project, it can determine the delivery and
mobilization risk factors. Not only can location affect the time of the availability of the equipment, but
as well the

Ecological Changes In Black-Tailed Prairie Dog Populations...
Introduction:
Although Colorado s growing population may be beneficial for the economy and social standings in
our country, it poses some ecological concerns. According to the Colorado State Demography Office,
Colorado s population has grown by nearly 75% since 1985 (Figure 1). In fact, Larimer County s
population has doubled in that same time period. It has become evident that changes in Colorado s
landscape have been altered due to this population boom. It is within our best interest to evaluate the
ecological concerns associated with such anthropogenic disturbances, specifically along the Front
Range of Larimer County. By observing and sampling areas where black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys
ludovicianus) have settled, and where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have traditionally been viewed as competitors with cattle for rangeland resources, so eradication
programs have reduced populations to less than two percent of those several decades ago (Whicker
and Detling 1988). The Colorado Parks and Wildlife have now deemed this keystone species as a
species of concern due to sylvatic plague, direct loss of habitat to urban/suburban development,
habitat fragmentation, conversion of habitat to agricultural uses, systematic poisoning, recreational
shooting, and inadequate regulatory mechanisms. Our biggest concerns are focused on habitat loss and
fragmentation and systematic poisoning and how they connect to Colorado s growth in population.
The grasslands along the Front Range are primarily inhabited by native grasses including, needle and
thread grass (Stipa comata) and blue gramma grass (Bouteloua gracilis), as part of the primary
producers of the ecosystem. In areas where prairie dogs are present, native grass populations decline at
a rather quick rate and are often low in richness, evenness, and diversity (Beals et al. 2014). We will
look at how this affects the rest of the grassland ecosystem and changes it where trophic efficiency is
concerned. Prairie dogs are useful for trophic efficiency because they help maintain the growth of
primary producers in the grasslands.

Normalization Through Montessori Method
Explain how normalization occurs including changes in the work cycle.
Describe the normalized child.
Dr. Montessori used the term normalization to distinguish one of the processes that she saw in her
work with the children at San Lorenzo in Rome. This process, the process of normalization, occurs
when development is proceeding normally. She used the word normalization as she believed that these
wonderful traits, these impressive qualities belonged to all children and was not a characteristic found
only in some children.
Through her work at Casa dei Bambini, Dr. Montessori observed an extraordinary change in her
students. When the children first came to her school, they were completely traumatized. Neither could

activity. The activity which so engrosses the child that he reaches a deep level of concentration, and
then the time a child in putting away the materials, perhaps talking with friends, and is exhibiting an
aura of satisfaction with him and the world. We recognize this cycle as the normal ‘cycle of activity
in a Montessori environment.
Experience has shown the disappearance of many childish traits through Normalization. Children
usually have a fickle mind and move from one toy to the next. Their minds seem to wander about and
they constantly seem preoccupied within themselves. They are unable to take on work or any activity
for longer than perhaps an hour. Dr. Montessori recognizes these traits along with others as deviations
or defensiveness. However once a child is offered a task that is practical and requires concentration, if
a child is trusted to do something that is realistic and requires responsibility, given the freedom of
choice, the freedom of doing work suited to his or her own needs, they then reveal not only their
capacity for intellectual accomplishment but a strange character of sweetness and serenity. As they
work, they grow in inner discipline and peace. An interesting piece of work, freely

European And Non-European Culture In The 1500s And 1600s
Europeans had many goals throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their goals, they deferred to
the non European culture. However, the question remains how did the Europeans accommodate
themselves to Non European culture? The European traders and missionaries would accommodate
themselves by integrating into the Non European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by
referring to the traditional practices, and through the response of the nations wants to European goods.
In order for Europe s influence to be successful across the world, they had a guide written by Father
Jean de Brébeuf, called Instructions for The Fathers of Our Society Who Shall Be Sent to The Hurons.
In this small guide, Father Jean, writes instruction for other European members to follow in order to
be successful in their influence in the new world. The thought of being the superior race, followed
them to the new world, so embracing a culture that they thought was low class, was a big change to
the European men. As to the other numerous things which may be unpleasant, they must be endured
for the love of God, without saying anything or appearing to notice them. They did not do anything
that contradicts the Natives belief, as they were trying to convert them to the idealized culture. They
were doing so in a way that the Natives did not realize they were being converted. So, the Europeans

The Adoption Of Geneva Conventions
Introduction
Wars have been always a menace and a threat to humanity. Throughout of the ages, the noble spirited
and peace loving people have tried to bring an end to the hostility and conflicts among human beings.
The adoption of Geneva Conventions in 1949 was seen as a significant break though in this regard and
it was hoped that human sufferings resulting from armed conflicts will be minimized to a considerable
extent if not eliminated completely. Even after the passage of about eight decades of the adoption of
Geneva Conventions, this dream is still far from realization. During all these years we saw different
nations interpreting and using the rules of Geneva Conventions in different ways suiting their interest.
This differing practice on the part of different nations did a lot of harm to the common cause of
protecting the life and well being of human beings. A major divergence from Geneva Convention rules
has been seen post 9/11. The 9/11 incidents and subsequent war on terror gave rise to a completely
new form of armed conflict which resulted in new legal challenges. As this war on terror is a non
traditional war which was almost unfamiliar by the times when Geneva Conventions were framed so,
most of the rules of Geneva Conventions were focused on international armed conflicts. Traditionally,
we witnessed armed conflicts in which states stood against other states but in recent decades,
especially after the dawn of 21st century, these armed conflicts have become

Authoritarian Parents And Parenting Styles
Parents use to blabber to their children about following the house rules without explaining to them
why they should follow. They set standards in their child for them to be disciplined in a way parents
would look up to. Spencer Rathus (2014), authoritarian parents have strict guidelines about what is
right and what is wrong and they demand that rules are rules and should be obeyed without explaining
why its implemented. Authoritarian parents always want to be obeyed by their children. If their
children did not obey them, they will receive yelling or punishments. Children coming from
authoritarian parenting are more likely to have low self esteem and low self worth. There are some
instances that these parents that use authoritarian parenting style would put their child on shame if
what they want is not fulfilled. Authoritarian parents are strict and don t usually give their child a
freedom to choose. Kids are forced by their parents. There are students nowadays that are failing when
it comes to their studies. They are not happy to what they are doing because it s not them who chose
for their courses or field that they want to study. Under this parenting style, parents are not very
affectionate to their children. They think that being strict will keep their child disciplines but perhaps
might only lead to rebellion. Thus, authoritarian parents are affecting not just the behavior of the
student but their grades also. It is a purely strict form of

Unbroken is the story of Louie Zamperini, a kid from a small midwestern town who experiences the
highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his astounding life. Louie had to work his absolute hardest

Anthony and Louise Zamperini. He was often bullied because of his parent s nationality and the way
he and his family spoke. He was always in some kind of trouble, claimed his mother. The police
caught him once, at age twelve, drinking bourbon out a milk bottle painted white. One day when his
mother had had enough of his antics she instructed his older brother to take Louie outside and make
him run until he learned his lesson. This became a daily occurrence Louie would get in trouble and he
would have to run longer every time. Then eventually came a time when he was running so much he
had no time to get in trouble and was too exhausted to start fights. This went on for about a year

My Time At The Law Firm

Anyhow the drama created by the stress levels of the co workers personal and work life created many
flaws within the office that I feel need to be addressed. The office is full of problems but financing is

  • 2. How To Become An Organ Donor When an individual becomes sixteen years of age, they are faced with a life changing decision: whether or not they should become an organ donor. While a person is deciding whether or not to become an organ donor for life, they are choosing to donate their organs to other individuals once they have passed away. Although an individual may not believe becoming an organ donor can have an effect on a person s life, they are tragically mistaken. While the choice to become an organ donor has an effect on the donor s family, it also has an unimaginable effect on not only the recipient s life and the family s lives as well. This is a common belief among many individuals which in turn causes them to opt out of becoming an organ donor. However, many individuals don t realize when they opt out of becoming a donor due to this belief; they are then possibly causing another individual to lose their life. For instance, if an individual believed they would receive a lesser amount of medical attention and decided not to become an organ donor, then one day contracted a life threatening medical problem and passed away because of it even though they received the normal amount of medical attention, their organs would then be of no use because they never gave permission for their organs to be donated to those individuals who needed them. This in turn means one of the one hundred and twenty thousand individuals on the organ transplantation list will most likely lose their life, because one selfish individual was more concerned about living their own life as opposed to sacrificing their life for another ... (Tristan) # Explain the process by which DNA is able to make copies of itself also including an explanation of why it is considered semiconservative replication There are four steps to replication 1) Unwind: Helicase splits a DNA section in half at the replication fork. 2) Unzips: DNA Polymerase breaks the hydrogen bonds and unwinds the section. 3) Copy: DNA Polymerase joins individual nucleotides with their complementary counterparts to form a new strand of DNA. Replication runs in the 5 to 3 direction. 4) Rewind: The DNA section is zipped back up and winded up again. DNA replication is considered semiconservative because each new strand of DNA contains only half of the original DNA strand. 6. (Connor) Compare and Contrast the prokaryotic and eukaryotic chromies. Since the requirements for various applications may vary time to time, the approach for QoS routing may not be proactive. The proposed approach has two phases namely route discovery phase and route maintenance phase. When a source node has to pass data to a destination node with QoS requirements it starts with the route discovery phase. Once the route is found, the data transfer will take place. While data transmission is going on, it is also required to maintain the path to the destination. This is very much desirable and required in mobile ad hoc networks and hence is done in the route maintenance phase. From fashion, to recreation, to dumb and sometimes dangerous things that youths do, fads are a way to distract from the troubles of the world and find something else fun to do. The first, and best known fads were in the 1920 s with flapper style, speakeasies, and flagpole sitting. Flapper style was rather simple; short, boyish hair, flat chests and long beaded gowns. Due to Prohibition, or making liquor and alcoholic beverages illegal, speakeasies were popular; underground, secret bars requiring a password. The long skirts helped women bootleg (or smuggle) the liquor. The term bootlegging comes from tying bottles to one s leg to smuggle it. Another fad was flagpole sitting. Panty raids were also invented in the 1950 s when people (specifically men) would go into the opposite sex s room and go through their drawers until finding a pair of underwear, which they would then take and parade around. • 8. Foils Of Fortinbras In Hamlet A story would go nowhere without the characters making something happen. Characters are used for everything in a story, they set the scene, make the plot happen, and everything inbetween. Characterization is a major deal for writers because without proper characterization, the plot will not be able to go the way they want it to. This is also a big factor for the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare. He uses so many different characters to really push certain things to the audience, and to make the reader understand it so well. The use of the foils, which is the use of two completely opposite characters, in the play really helps get across the point that Shakespeare wants to convey to the reader . Oriental and Occidental Theatre Here Artaud criticizes Occidental theatre for its dependence on the word and praises Oriental theatre for its independence from it. Again, Oriental theatre is superior because of its use of imagery and its metaphysical nature, whereas Occidental theatre is inferior because it is absorbed in psychology and internal struggles. It is not a matter of suppressing speech in the theatre but of changing its role, and especially of reducing its position, of considering it as something else than a means of conducting human characters to their external ends, since the theatre is concerned only with the way feelings and passions conflict with one another, and man with man, in life (72). • 22. Scientific Naturalism E. Existential Viability Does scientific naturalism successfully explain the origin of life? The answer is yes, and no. Scientific naturalism explains how life functions quite well, but it fails miserably in explaining how and where life came from. Nobody who understands biology will argue that evolution does not occur, in the narrow understanding that certain changes happen naturally. Johnson reminds us of a famous piece of evidence for Darwinism that most of us learned about in science class. It was a study of an English peppered moth population consisting of both dark and light colored moths. During the industrial revolution, smoke from the factories darkened the surrounding trees with soot. This caused the percentage of dark colored moths to increase, due to their advantage in hiding from predators. The light colored moths were obviously at a disadvantage and their numbers decreased. When the air pollution decreased, the trees became lighter due to not being covered in soot, the light colored moths began to increase while the dark colored moths decreased. Both colors were present during this time, and so no new characteristics were created. The percentage of dark colored and light colored moths increased and decreased as the changing conditions affected their relative ability to survive and create offspring. Scientific naturalists (Darwinists) will use this example to show that this proves evolution is a fact, and that natural selection is simply a directing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many examples of his antisocial tendencies, such as when mother yells at him for not attracting people to the motel or doing his job: Why didn t you turn on the sign when it got dark? And why aren t you up at the office where you belong? (Bloch 12 13). One would expect the owner of motel to want people s business and do his job to make money, but Norman seems like he is actiavely avoiding his duties on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately for Norman, this was the case of his mother s death. Throughout the whole passage Norman appears to talking his mother, but in reality he is actually just talking to his other personality who became his mother. This is known as dissociative identity disorder: a disorder characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality states. When his mother says I know what you re thinking Norman. I know all about you, boy. More than you dream. But I know that, too what you dream...That s why you never get rid of me, even if you really wanted to (Bloch 17 18). This is reinforcing the fact that he is in fact not talking to his actual mother, but rather the personality he developed in his mind after her passing. The only only way a momma s boy could cope with such a traumatic incident is to act like she has never been gone. When Norman kills he thinks it is his mother telling him to do that, but it really himself displacing all of his anger and frustrations on innocent people because deep down he is still trying to get that affection from his mother, but it will never come to ... • 29. Notes On The Messiah And The Psalms By Richard P. Belcher Jr. Introduction This forum post presents the Christological Approach to the Psalms and then describes the five major categories of Psalms relating to Jesus the Messiah: the (1) Royal Psalms, (2) Typological Prophetic Psalms, (3) Prophetic Typological Psalms, (4) Prophetic Messianic Psalms, and (5) Eschatological Psalms. Christological Approach to the Psalms The Christological Approach to the Psalms is presented and described by Richard P. Belcher Jr. in his book The Messiah and the Psalms: Preaching Christ from all the Psalms. The Christological Approach to the Psalms is based on the hermeneutical principle Jesus taught in Luke 24:26 27, 44 47. Jesus, following his resurrection, was walking with two disciples and explained to them These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). The principle is that all the Old Testament can be viewed as relating to Jesus not just those passages that directly address Jesus as Messiah. Given the Christological Approach to the Psalms, the five categories of the Psalms can be discerned. The information on the five categories of Psalms is summarized from materials presented by Dr. Gary Yates. Royal Psalms A Royal Psalm is about the historical king of that day but these Psalms also point to Jesus the Messiah. As a result, Royal Psalms are indirectly Messianic. According C. • 30. Designing A More Productive Manner During Construction... In order to perform any task in a more productive manner during construction, equipment must be used. Depending on the scope of work and the size of the job more than one piece of machinery may be used; the model, size, and people operating the equipment will differ too. The equipment, personnel, area, and project factors may be different for every job but they all share a common factor, risk. This factor aids contractors to determine the type of equipment to choose and the supplier to provide the equipment for the project as well. Choosing the right equipment for the project is a major risk the contractor must be able to handle. They must analysis and completely understand the project; such as understanding the type of soil to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each specific area in construction uses various types of equipment, every piece of equipment has a different purpose. The contractor must determine for each project and the scope of work assign what equipment to use, and whether to buy or rent the equipment. For example, if a contractor specializes in concrete work and it is a job that they perform regularly, it would benefit them owning the necessary equipment; such as mixer and pump. This allows them to have the availability of the equipment when it is required. However they are responsible for all the maintenance on the equipment and inspecting it frequently, in order to keep it operating properly (pg90). If these services are not performed regularly the contractor risk the equipment being damaged or not performing to the norm. They also must be aware of the operating cost and depreciation value of the vehicle; in order to receive funds from some of the equipments retained market value (pg 92) . Now in a job that requires a special type of equipment, one not familiar with the contractor, renting may be the best option. In renting the risk factor is also there, the supplier may not have the equipment available for the time being requested or may be too far of a distance from the job site. Thus location of the project site also has some effects to the project, it can determine the delivery and mobilization risk factors. Not only can location affect the time of the availability of the equipment, but as well the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Ecological Changes In Black-Tailed Prairie Dog Populations... Introduction: Although Colorado s growing population may be beneficial for the economy and social standings in our country, it poses some ecological concerns. According to the Colorado State Demography Office, Colorado s population has grown by nearly 75% since 1985 (Figure 1). In fact, Larimer County s population has doubled in that same time period. It has become evident that changes in Colorado s landscape have been altered due to this population boom. It is within our best interest to evaluate the ecological concerns associated with such anthropogenic disturbances, specifically along the Front Range of Larimer County. By observing and sampling areas where black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) have settled, and where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have traditionally been viewed as competitors with cattle for rangeland resources, so eradication programs have reduced populations to less than two percent of those several decades ago (Whicker and Detling 1988). The Colorado Parks and Wildlife have now deemed this keystone species as a species of concern due to sylvatic plague, direct loss of habitat to urban/suburban development, habitat fragmentation, conversion of habitat to agricultural uses, systematic poisoning, recreational shooting, and inadequate regulatory mechanisms. Our biggest concerns are focused on habitat loss and fragmentation and systematic poisoning and how they connect to Colorado s growth in population. The grasslands along the Front Range are primarily inhabited by native grasses including, needle and thread grass (Stipa comata) and blue gramma grass (Bouteloua gracilis), as part of the primary producers of the ecosystem. In areas where prairie dogs are present, native grass populations decline at a rather quick rate and are often low in richness, evenness, and diversity (Beals et al. 2014). We will look at how this affects the rest of the grassland ecosystem and changes it where trophic efficiency is concerned. Prairie dogs are useful for trophic efficiency because they help maintain the growth of primary producers in the grasslands. Zinc phosphide rodenticide is an inorganic pesticide that ... • 32. Normalization Through Montessori Method Explain how normalization occurs including changes in the work cycle. Describe the normalized child. Dr. Montessori used the term normalization to distinguish one of the processes that she saw in her work with the children at San Lorenzo in Rome. This process, the process of normalization, occurs when development is proceeding normally. She used the word normalization as she believed that these wonderful traits, these impressive qualities belonged to all children and was not a characteristic found only in some children. Through her work at Casa dei Bambini, Dr. Montessori observed an extraordinary change in her students. When the children first came to her school, they were completely traumatized. The activity which so engrosses the child that he reaches a deep level of concentration, and then the time a child in putting away the materials, perhaps talking with friends, and is exhibiting an aura of satisfaction with him and the world. We recognize this cycle as the normal ‘cycle of activity in a Montessori environment. Experience has shown the disappearance of many childish traits through Normalization. Children usually have a fickle mind and move from one toy to the next. Their minds seem to wander about and they constantly seem preoccupied within themselves. They are unable to take on work or any activity for longer than perhaps an hour. Dr. Montessori recognizes these traits along with others as deviations or defensiveness. However once a child is offered a task that is practical and requires concentration, if a child is trusted to do something that is realistic and requires responsibility, given the freedom of choice, the freedom of doing work suited to his or her own needs, they then reveal not only their capacity for intellectual accomplishment but a strange character of sweetness and serenity. As they work, they grow in inner discipline and peace. An interesting piece of work, freely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. European And Non-European Culture In The 1500s And 1600s Europeans had many goals throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their goals, they deferred to the non European culture. However, the question remains how did the Europeans accommodate themselves to Non European culture? The European traders and missionaries would accommodate themselves by integrating into the Non European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by referring to the traditional practices, and through the response of the nations wants to European goods. In order for Europe s influence to be successful across the world, they had a guide written by Father Jean de Brébeuf, called Instructions for The Fathers of Our Society Who Shall Be Sent to The Hurons. In this small guide, Father Jean, writes instruction for other European members to follow in order to be successful in their influence in the new world. The thought of being the superior race, followed them to the new world, so embracing a culture that they thought was low class, was a big change to the European men. As to the other numerous things which may be unpleasant, they must be endured for the love of God, without saying anything or appearing to notice them. They did not do anything that contradicts the Natives belief, as they were trying to convert them to the idealized culture. They were doing so in a way that the Natives did not realize they were being converted. So, the Europeans change their normal customs in order to gain their trust. • 34. The Adoption Of Geneva Conventions Introduction Wars have been always a menace and a threat to humanity. Throughout of the ages, the noble spirited and peace loving people have tried to bring an end to the hostility and conflicts among human beings. The adoption of Geneva Conventions in 1949 was seen as a significant break though in this regard and it was hoped that human sufferings resulting from armed conflicts will be minimized to a considerable extent if not eliminated completely. Even after the passage of about eight decades of the adoption of Geneva Conventions, this dream is still far from realization. During all these years we saw different nations interpreting and using the rules of Geneva Conventions in different ways suiting their interest. This differing practice on the part of different nations did a lot of harm to the common cause of protecting the life and well being of human beings. A major divergence from Geneva Convention rules has been seen post 9/11. The 9/11 incidents and subsequent war on terror gave rise to a completely new form of armed conflict which resulted in new legal challenges. As this war on terror is a non traditional war which was almost unfamiliar by the times when Geneva Conventions were framed so, most of the rules of Geneva Conventions were focused on international armed conflicts. Traditionally, we witnessed armed conflicts in which states stood against other states but in recent decades, especially after the dawn of 21st century, these armed conflicts have become ... • 35. Authoritarian Parents And Parenting Styles Parents use to blabber to their children about following the house rules without explaining to them why they should follow. They set standards in their child for them to be disciplined in a way parents would look up to. Spencer Rathus (2014), authoritarian parents have strict guidelines about what is right and what is wrong and they demand that rules are rules and should be obeyed without explaining why its implemented. Authoritarian parents always want to be obeyed by their children. If their children did not obey them, they will receive yelling or punishments. Children coming from authoritarian parenting are more likely to have low self esteem and low self worth. There are some instances that these parents that use authoritarian parenting style would put their child on shame if what they want is not fulfilled. Authoritarian parents are strict and don t usually give their child a freedom to choose. Kids are forced by their parents. There are students nowadays that are failing when it comes to their studies. They are not happy to what they are doing because it s not them who chose for their courses or field that they want to study. Under this parenting style, parents are not very affectionate to their children. They think that being strict will keep their child disciplines but perhaps might only lead to rebellion. Thus, authoritarian parents are affecting not just the behavior of the student but their grades also. It is a purely strict form of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maybe it was just because the end of the year was coming and stress from outside the work area was entering the office. Anyhow the drama created by the stress levels of the co workers personal and work life created many flaws within the office that I feel need to be addressed. The office is full of problems but financing is not one of those problems. The agency holds 8 civil law attorneys who pay the business half of all their attorney fees, which can accumulate a lot over a calendar year. This allows the agency to keep up to date technology in every office. Since money is not a problem with the firm the main problems faced are the internal issues of the employees. One of the problems we have is the drama and ill mannered attitudes that is shown towards other employees. For not being employed very long at the firm I have seen and heard some disturbing rumors about people that I work with.
