This document discusses using spline wavelets and stationary wavelet transform (SWT) for image denoising. It finds that biorthogonal spline wavelet 1.1 (bior1.1) provides the best denoising performance, while bior3.1 performs poorly. Denoising performance is related to the effective lengths of the high pass reconstruction and decomposition filters - lower effective lengths provide better denoising. Specifically, peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) decreases with increasing effective length of the high pass reconstruction filter or, when that length is equal between wavelets, with the effective length of the high pass decomposition filter.
A NOVEL ALGORITHM FOR IMAGE DENOISING USING DT-CWT sipij
This paper addresses image enhancement system consisting of image denoising technique based on Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT-CWT) . The proposed algorithm at the outset models the noisy remote sensing image (NRSI) statistically by aptly amalgamating the structural features and textures from it. This statistical model is decomposed using DTCWT with Tap-10 or length-10 filter banks based on
Farras wavelet implementation and sub band coefficients are suitably modeled to denoise with a method which is efficiently organized by combining the clustering techniques with soft thresholding - softclustering technique. The clustering techniques classify the noisy and image pixels based on the
neighborhood connected component analysis(CCA), connected pixel analysis and inter-pixel intensity variance (IPIV) and calculate an appropriate threshold value for noise removal. This threshold value is used with soft thresholding technique to denoise the image .Experimental results shows that that the
proposed technique outperforms the conventional and state-of-the-art techniques .It is also evaluated that the denoised images using DTCWT (Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform) is better balance between smoothness and accuracy than the DWT.. We used the PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) along with
RMSE to assess the quality of denoised images.

Intensify Denoisy Image Using Adaptive Multiscale Product ThresholdingIJERA Editor
This Paper presents a wavelet-based multiscale products thresholding scheme for noise suppression of magnetic resonance images. This paper proposed a method based on image de-noising and edge enhancement of noisy multidimensional imaging data sets. Medical images are generally suffered from signal dependent noises i.e. speckle noise and broken edges. Most of the noises signals appear from machine and environment generally not contribute to the tissue differentiation. But, the noise generated due to above mentioned reason causes a grainy appearance on the image, hence image enhancement is required. For the intent of image denoising, Adaptive Multiscale Product Thresholding based on 2-D wavelet transform is used. In this method, contiguous wavelet sub bands are multiplied to improve edge structure while reducing noise. In multiscale products, boundaries can be successfully distinguished from noise. Adaptive threshold is designed and forced on multiscale products as an alternative of wavelet coefficients or recognize important features. For the edge enhancement. Canny Edge Detection Algorithm is used with scale multiplication technique. Simulation results shows that the planned technique better suppress the Poisson noise among several noises i.e. salt & pepper, speckle noise and random noise. The Performance of Image Intesification can be estimate by means of PSNR, MSE.

Novel adaptive filter (naf) for impulse noise suppression from digital imagesijbbjournal
In general, it is known that an adaptive filter adjusts its parameters iteratively such as size of the working
window, decision threshold values used in two stage detection-estimation based switching filters, number of
iterations etc. It is also known that nonlinear filters such as median filters and its several variants are
popularly known for their ability in dealing with the unknown circumstances. In this paper an efficient and
simple adaptive nonlinear filtering scheme is presented to eliminate the impulse noise from the digital images with an impulsive noise detection and reduction scheme based on adaptive nonlinear filter techniques. The proposed scheme employs image statistics based dynamically varying working window and an adaptive threshold for noise detection with a Noise Exclusive Median (NEM) based restoration. The intensity value of the Noise Exclusive Median (NEM) is derived from the processed pixels in local
neighborhood of a dynamically adaptive window. In the proposed scheme use of an adaptive threshold value derived from the noisy image statistics returns more precise results for the noisy pixel detection. The
proposed scheme is simple and can be implemented as either a single pass or a multi-pass with a maximum
of three iterations with a simple stopping criterion. The goodness of the proposed scheme is evaluated with respect to the qualitative and quantitative measures obtained by MATLAB simulations with standard images added with impulsive noise of varying densities. From the comparative analysis it is evident that the proposed scheme out performs the state-of-art schemes, preferably in cases of high-density impulse noise
Image deblurring based on spectral measures of whitenessijma
Image Deblurring is an ill-posed inverse problem used to reconstruct the sharp image from the unknown
blurred image. This process involves restoration of high frequency information from the blurred image. It
includes a learning technique which initially focuses on the main edges of the image and then gradually
takes details into account. As blind image deblurring is ill-posed, it has infinite number of solutions leading
to an ill-conditioned blur operator. So regularization or prior knowledge on both the unknown image and
the blur operator is needed to address this problem. The performance of this optimization problem depends
on the regularization parameter and the iteration number. In already existing methods the iterations have
to be manually stopped. In this paper, a new idea is proposed to regulate the number of iterations and the
regularization parameter automatically. The proposed criteria yields, on average, an ISNR only 0.38dB
below what is obtained by manual stopping. The results obtained with synthetically blurred images are
good and considerable, even when the blur operator is ill-conditioned and the blurred image is noisy.
Survey On Satellite Image Resolution Techniques using Wavelet TransformIJSRD
Satellite images are used in many research fields. The main problem with the satellite images are their low resolution and blurring effects. Thus, in order to use these images, we need to enhance their quality. Thus, in this paper we have described various wavelet transform techniques such as WZP (Wavelet Zero Padding), CS-WZP (Cyclic Spinning WZP), UWT (Undecimated Wavelet Transform) and DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform). These all are wavelet transform techniques which are used for image resolution enhancement. In these all techniques and algorithms, we give a low resolution image obtained from any satellite image as the input and get a high resolution image as the output. The comparison of these techniques is made based on two factors MSE (Mean Squared Error) and PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio).
Survey Paper on Image Denoising Using Spatial Statistic son PixelIJERA Editor
The classical non-local means image denoising approach, the value of a pixel is determined based on the weighted average of other pixels, where the weights are determined based on a fixed isotropic ally weighted similarity function between the local neighbourhoods. It is demonstrate that noticeably improved perceptual quality can be achieved through the use of adaptive anisotropic ally weighted similarity functions between local neighbourhoods. This is accomplished by adapting the similarity weighing function in an anisotropic manner based on the perceptual characteristics of the underlying image content derived efficiently based on the Mexican Hat wavelet. Experimental results show that the it can be used to provide improved perceptual quality in the denoised image both quantitatively and qualitatively when compared to existing methods.
here it introduces an efficient multi-resolution watermarking methodology for copyright protection of digital images. By adapting the watermark signal to the wavelet coefficients, the proposed method is highly image adaptive and the watermark signal can be strengthen in the most significant parts of the image. As this property also increases the watermark visibility, usage of the human visual system is incorporated to prevent perceptual visibility of embedded watermark signal. Experimental results show that the proposed system preserves the image quality and is vulnerable against most common image processing distortions. Furthermore, the hierarchical nature of wavelet transform allows for detection of watermark at various resolutions, resulting in reduction of the computational load needed for watermark detection based on the noise level. The performance of the proposed system is shown to be superior to that of other available schemes reported in the literature.
Analysis of Various Image De-Noising Techniques: A Perspective Viewijtsrd
A critical issue in the image restoration is the problem of de noising images while keeping the integrity of relevant image information. A large number of image de noising techniques are proposed to remove noise. Mainly these techniques are depends upon the type of noise present in images. So image de noising still remains an important challenge for researchers because de noising techniques remove noise from images but also introduces some artifacts and cause blurring. In this paper we discuss about various image de noising and their features. Some of these techniques provide satisfactory results in noise removal and also preserving edges with fine details present in images. Noise modeling in images is greatly affected by capturing instruments, data transmission media, image quantization and discrete sources of radiation. Different algorithms are used depending on the noise model. Most of the natural images are assumed to have additive random noise which is modeled as a Gaussian. Speckle noise is observed in ultrasound images whereas Rician noise affects MRI images. The scope of the paper is to focus on noise removal techniques for natural images. NOISE REMOVAL TECHNIQUES FOR MICROWAVE REMOTE SENSING RADAR DATA AND ITS EVAL...cscpconf
Microwave Remote Sensing data acquired by a RADAR sensor such as SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) is affected by a peculiar kind of noise called speckle. This noise not only renders the
data ineffective for classification, texture analysis, segmentation etc. which are used for image analysis purposes, but also degrades the overall contrast and radiometric quality of the image. Here we discuss the various noise removal techniques which have been widely used by scientists all over the world. Different filtering methods have their pros and cons, and no single method can give the most satisfactory result. In order to circumvent those issues, better and better methods are being attempted. One of the recent methods is that based on Wavelet technique. This paper discusses the denoising techniques based on Wavelets and the results from some of those methods. The relative merits and demerits of the filters and their evaluation is also done.

Comparative Analysis of Dwt, Reduced Wavelet Transform, Complex Wavelet Trans...ijsrd.com
Image denoising is the process to remove the noise from the image naturally corrupted by the noise. The wavelet method is one among various methods for recovering infinite dimensional objects like curves, densities, images, etc. The wavelet techniques are very effective to remove the noise because of their ability to capture the energy of a signal in few energy transform values. Though the wavelet transform have the best bases when it represents target functions which has dot singularity, it can hardly get the best bases when it present the singularity of line and hyper-plane. This makes the traditional two-dimensional wavelet transform in dealing with the image have some limitations. To overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings of Wavelet transform the theory of Curvelet transform was promoted.
An Energy Efficient and High Speed Image Compression System Using Stationary ...rahulmonikasharma
Image compression is one of the interesting domains nowadays in all areas of research. Everybody working with huge of amount of data in their daily life. In-order to deal with such huge amount of data, there is a need to store and compress the data. So there is a need to develop a system to compress and store the data. JPEG 2000 is a system to achieve this object. In this paper an area efficient and high speed JPEG2000 architecture has been developed to compress the image data. To implement JPEG2000 system, here a transform called stationary wavelet transform has been used. Stationary wavelet transform reduces the bottlenecks existing in the wavelet transform. Stationary wavelet transform avoids the problem of invariance-translation of the already existing discrete wavelet transform. The proposed stationary wavelet transform based JPEG2000 improves the speed and efficiency of power compared to the discrete wavelet transform based JPEG2000. Many image compression applications such as tele-medicine, satellite imaging, medical imaging require high-speed, low power compression techniques with small chip area. This paper has an analysis on the speed of JPEG2000 using stationary wavelet transform and it will be compared theoretically and practically with the JPEG2000 using discrete wavelet transform. The amount of information missing in the test image usually been very small when compared to the DWT based JPEG2000.The MSE and PSNR values proved to be better when compared to the DWT based JPEG2000. The proposed SWT based JPEG2000 compresses and decompresses the image at a faster rate than the DWT based JPEG2000.Finally the design will be implemented in XILINX Virtex-4 FPGA Kit. .The power consumption of the proposed method proved to be 290mW compared to other types of compression techniques.

The results show that proposed design can operate at maximum frequency 231 MHz in case of Spartan 3 by consuming power of 117mW at 28 degree/c junction temperature. The result comparison has shown an improvement of 15% in speed.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
