minimize bomber losses to
enemy fire. Researchers
from the Centre for Naval
Analyses had conducted a
study of the damage done to
aircraft that had returned
from missions, and had
recommended that Armor be
added to the areas that
showed the most damage.

Wald noted that the study only considered the
aircraft that had survived their missions—the
bombers that had been shot down were not
present for the damage assessment. The holes
in the returning aircraft, then, represented areas
where a bomber could take damage and still
return home safely.
Wald proposed that the Navy instead reinforce
the areas where the returning aircraft were
unscathed, since those were the areas that, if
hit, would cause the plane to be lost. This is still
considered today seminal work in the then-
fledgling discipline of operational research.

The consultant develops its design(s) and project information as a complete
Project Information Model (PIM) for design purposes, construction
requirements and the maintainer to use for asset management

The consultant develops a composite Graphical model with information
linked for purposes of the asset lifecycle, including maintainers to use during
asset management.

Typical Contractual Requirements/language
The consultant ensures that all 2D CAD deliverables are consistent with
the consultants accepted PIM. Where discrepancies occur, the accepted
PIM will take precedence.

UK BIM Government Mandate
The UK Government Construction Strategy was published
by the Cabinet office on 31 May 2011. The report announced
the UK Government’s intention to require: collaborative 3D
BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation
and data being electronic) on its projects by 2016.

• Provides an environment where we can import required data directly from any
source including the design models. It supplements the data in a controlled
and auditable environment, and produces the design, construction, handover
schedules and maintenance information automatically
• This gives us a single source of truth for the project data – enter once, use
many times

• To facilitate a proof of concept, Jacobs provided sample project
data:
– Built subset class library in ISM based on a
– Client Asset Data Dictionary and exported configuration to AVEVA NET.
– Built Autodesk Civil 3D Gateway to import corridor and drainage data.
– Configured 3D dwg gateway to import corridor and drainage models from Civil
3D.
– Configured 3D dwg gateway to import Lighting, Lining and Signage models from
AutoCAD.
– Configured 3D dwg gateway to import Bridge construction model from Autodesk
Revit.
– Configured Data Extractor gateway to import data from Bridge, Lighting, Lining
and Signage data exports.

  • 7. Abraham Wald 7 • Was a Mathematician who contributed to decision theory, geometry, and econometrics, and founded the field of statistical sequential analysis.[1]
  • 8. Soldier Mathematician 8 During World War II, Wald applied his statistical skills when considering how to minimize bomber losses to enemy fire. Researchers from the Centre for Naval Analyses had conducted a study of the damage done to aircraft that had returned from missions, and had recommended that Armor be added to the areas that showed the most damage.

  • 11. Analysing the data 11 Wald noted that the study only considered the aircraft that had survived their missions—the bombers that had been shot down were not present for the damage assessment. The holes in the returning aircraft, then, represented areas where a bomber could take damage and still return home safely. Wald proposed that the Navy instead reinforce the areas where the returning aircraft were unscathed, since those were the areas that, if hit, would cause the plane to be lost. This is still considered today seminal work in the then- fledgling discipline of operational research.

Typical Contractual Requirements/language The consultant develops its design(s) and project information as a complete Project Information Model (PIM) for design purposes, construction requirements and the maintainer to use for asset management 13 The consultant develops a composite Graphical model with information linked for purposes of the asset lifecycle, including maintainers to use during asset management. The report announced the UK Government’s intention to require: collaborative 3D BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic) on its projects by 2016.
