This document provides information about Building Information Modeling (BIM) training offered by Jupiter Technologies. BIM is a process of digitally representing a building to contain data about the building's physical and functional characteristics. Jupiter Technologies offers both introductory and advanced BIM training courses lasting 50-100 days using software like Revit, Navisworks, and Dynamo. The training aims to equip students with in-demand BIM skills and knowledge for roles in architecture, engineering, and construction.
BIM Building Information Modeling is much more than model creation, it is human and software collaboration through large volumes of construction data that is communicated at every point in the development life-cycle for a project(s).
presentation by Paul Wilkinson to CIMCIG BIM conference, Building Centre, London WC1 on Wednesday 25 April 2012.
Presentation explains what BIM is (and isn't), and outlines why it has become important in 2012, as the UK construction industry looks to meet a UK Government BIM deadline by 2016.

BIM use cases presented by Besix and deBIMspecialist during the BIM manifest event in Brussels, October 2015
Video about real-time collaboration from www.gdaas.com
In this presentation I gave one overall overview about BIM workflow for Construction and D&B companies.
BIM is not a tool, BIM is not a software, BIM is a way of thinking about the project and put together processes to exchange information during the entire lifecycle.
This presentation is mainly focused on Autodesk platform but is applicable to many other solutions.

BIM is a norm for the building industry. How about for infrastructures? Some countries are over confident on the implementation of BIM in both building and civil engineering industries. Is the BIM technology for infrastructures mature and easily available? Are the professionals ready for BIM?

HKIBIM Annual Conference 2017 is the 8th Annual Conference organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM). It is the premier annual event for experienced professionals to demonstrate the practical use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes using real cases. The speakers are encouraged to illustrate lessons learned in practical projects so that more professionals from different disciplines can improve their productivity through efficient use of BIM and advance practical knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with the larger BIM community.
Building information modelling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Building information models (BIMs) are files (often but not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be extracted, exchanged or networked to support decision-making regarding a building or other built asset.
In this presentation, a quick but comprehensive introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM) is provided, aiming at showing the benefits of BIM for all the actors of a construction project.
The new revolutionary concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility

Exploring BIM Dimensions: 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, 7D, and 8D, Understanding the Different Dimensions of Building Information Modeling in Construction. Building Information Modeling (BIM) brought about a radical change in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors by providing 3D digital versions of reality. BIM's capabilities are more than just geometry. The 3D to 8D dimensions of BIM are excellent aspects that allow professionals to visualize not just the physical but also the temporal and cost stages, as well as the operations and management of the facility lifecycle, sustainability, and operation of the building. Every dimension (of data) allows for better decision-making and performance analysis during the project life cycle.

WHAT IS BIM ?
Building Information Modeling
(BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics
of a facility.
BIM is the shared knowledge resource of information. It is also the life
time quality administration of any project. BIM, not only manages and
model graphics, but also all information. This information allows
automatic generation of drawings and reports with design analysis,
schedule simulation, facilities management, and much more.

Accuracy
Smartdraftingtools(fills,dimensions)

Draft everything in 2D
No 3D model is created
Design changes maintained manually on every
drawing
Typically, each drawing is saved in its own file
DRAWBACKS
Changes on one drawing don’t influence
other drawings
Drawing coordination is essential
No more content compared with hand
drawing
Collisions and other design problems
are difficult to identify

WORKING CONCEPT OF 3D CAD
ComparedtohanddraftingFastermodifications
Accuracy
Smartdraftingtools(fills,dimensions)
Repetitiveelements(blocks,xrefs)
The application has both 2D and 3D capabilities
Buildings can be modeled in 3D if necessary
3D and 2D information can be included in a single file
Drawings can be partially derived from the model
No automatic documentation
Application mostly works with 2D and 3D drawing tools
instead of real architectural elements
Additional content can be created including visualization
and basic quantity take-offs
BENEFITS
Compared to 2D CAD Easier checking
of planning errors
Managing changes is easier
Visualization and calculation
Smaller file size
Easier to model complex geometries
DRAWBACKS
Concept doesn’t follow the
architectural design process
Documentation is not fully automatic
No architectural content like in BIM
applications

BENEFITS
Compared to 2D and 3D CAD Elements
have architectural meaning
Changes on one drawing have influence
on all others
Rich visualization content (animation,
sun studies, renderings etc.)
Automatic quantity take-offs, schedules
Connection to structural, energy
calculation,collision detection etc.
DRAWBACKS
Higher training requirements
Might be difficult to learn the BIM
approach for people who were
previously 2D users
Operating Cost
BIM= Building Information Modeling
Also known as Virtual Building or Building
Simulation
Drawings, building views, visualizations,
calculations and quantity take-offs are
automatically derived from the 3D model.

BIM IS A PROCESS!
Generic term used to describe advanced 3D CAD technology for
modeling and managing buildings and information related to them.
BIM models are differentiated from traditional CAD systems in that
the software objects in a BIM model are intelligible to computer
programs as representations of real-world building components, unlike
the graphic objects in a two-dimensional CAD file”.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) defines BIM as “a model-
based technology linked with a database of project information”.
BIM covers geometry, spatial relationships, geographic
information, quantities and properties of building components.

OPPORTUNITIES IN BIM
FUTURE IS BIM!!!
Of course BIM is the future and will change the AECO sector forever . BIM is the future
in so far as it is the most information rich approach to planning and construction we
have at the moment. BIM is really an impressive technology that no doubt holds
brilliant promise for the future of some component of the AEC community. But trying
to find out just how fast it is catching on in the building industry is an elusive
undertaking. At the end it produces an database that can be used in many areas that we
know like facility management, and some of areas that we yet need to develop. It is one
dataset in one place that contains maximum of building data that we need.
Revit – BIM software is considered to be of the best technique for the implementation
of BIM in the building construction industry. It has opened up a lot of avenues of
growth in the digital building industry in future.
