Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity
As the power industry expands and improves the technological functionality, control, and monitoring
components used in generation, transmission, and distribution, the vulnerabilities of the power grid to
cybersecurity attacks greatly increase. Not all cybersecurity attacks are preventable, but the current
security regulation and compliance requirements set by the North American Electric Reliability
Corporation (NERC) are not adequate to prevent even the most common types of attacks. When
attacks occur, they can lead to lengthy system blackouts where the impact may range from minor
inconvenience to possible public harm in a variety of ways including loss of access to food, fuel,
money, communication, asset protection and security, and even healthcare. ... Show more content on

The core of this framework has five basic functions as it relates to cybersecurity: identify, protect,
detect, respond, and recover (Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity). With
regard to required compliance versus voluntary security, compliance with regulations does not ensure
security. The BES consists of both generation and transmission assets and devices, but does not
include system distribution. There are also potential risks associated with the technologies and
operations of the distribution system though, so the distribution system must be included in the
cybersecurity discussion. One such distribution security risk involves the increasing popularity of
smart meters and the fact that there are no cybersecurity regulations associated with them. Of all the
BES components, cyberattacks on transmission assets and devices pose the greatest risk to public
safety due to a greater potential impact than attacks on other types of BES components. For example,
the knockout of a transmission substation that is only the connection between multiple power lines,
would have a higher

The Delivery Of Health Related Services
Literature Review In our current healthcare system, the delivery of health related services involves the
movement of patients from one care setting to another. Also recognized as transitions of care these
actions often occur between acute care hospitals and post acute care settings such as rehabilitation
centers and nursing homes. Transitions of care, however, do not only occur between in patient
settings. Patients discharged from the hospital to their home or shuffled between a primary care clinic
and specialty clinic also experience transitions of care. In any instance, transitions of care place
patients at increased risk for errors due to ineffective communication between doctors, nurses,
patients, and other service providers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marcotte, Kirtane, Lynn, and Mckethan explored how health information technology (HIT) integration
could allow for more seamless transitions of care (2015). Based on data acquired from the Beacon
Communities and the National Quality Forum Safe Practices Report they identified four areas in
which HIT could be used to improve transitions between the acute care hospital and post acute setting.
The areas identified were the discharge process, information flow and feedback, medication and
adherence, and patient and caregiver engagement (Marcotte, et al., 2014). While some HIT
innovations have been successfully implemented they found that the incorporation of HIT in
transitions of care was still significantly underdeveloped (Marcotte et al., 2015). This was greatly
attributed to the sluggish adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) as well as a lack of EHR
interoperability to allow for nationwide information exchange (Marcotte et. al., 2015). Despite these
barriers, there have been some practical HIT developments such as electronic risk stratification tools
and clinical decision support tools. These instruments identify patients at increased risk for post acute
complications by scoring clinical prognosis, functional status, social, and economic factors. Electronic
tools such as these allow discharge planners, case managers, and other members of the care team to
identify at risk patients earlier and

value of β1 identifies the change along the Y scale expected for every unit changed in fixed values of

In a period of six months, seven of the most dominant financial institutions in the country crashed.

that cut so deep that they crushed the American Dream for some with each passing day. In this essay I

downturn since the infamous Great Depression of the early 20th century.
The 1930s, the period of the Great Depression is perhaps the most unstable financial time in United

economy for years and caused the Senate to pass the Glass Steagall Act (part of the U.S. Banking Act

Examples Of Racism In Coach Boone
Coach boone handled, and eventually defeated, racism on his team by: making the players learn about
each other, The made a starting lineup based on skill and not race, and bringing the community
together under one team instead of one race. After an attempt to decrease racism by busing in african
american children to a school, a new head football coach comes to the school. The coach is struggling
with racism and breaking the barriers left by segregation. Segregation was ended in the 1960s and
implementing mixed race schools caused a lot of backlash from the racist white communities. The
new coach, Coach Boone, is african american. This complicates things because not many from the
community or the school are willing embrace all races.
To begin, Coach Boone starts off the season by making the players learn about each other. This helps
to defuse the racism by getting the players to learn their likes and dislikes. This helps them bond and
realize that they have a lot in common, which brings them closer. The movie also shows Coach Boone
making non segregated dorms. After the camp, the players learned that the only thing they didn t have
in common was the color of their skin. Coach Boone began his campaign to end the racism by making
the players learn about each other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows his team that he isn t racist, and the players can t use race as an excuse for not being put on
the starting lineup. That knowledge defuses racism on the team by removing the thought that the team
decisions were made with race in mind. Also, Gary cut a player who was white and his friend with the
approval of Coach Boone because he wasn t playing up to standard. This shows that Coach Boone
won t just cut people because of race or that he doesn t like them, but because they weren t good
enough. Coach Boone choose his lineup based on skill and continued to do it until the end leveling the

Women Are The Ones Who Handle Household Chores
Always women are the ones who handle the household chores
Household chores like doing the laundry, cleaning the utensils, taking care of children and making
food is always done by women. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman doing
the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has existed
since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do. According to
Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day, 66.6% men and
85% women report doing some sort of household activity.
Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his spouse
or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he is
contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than nothing. No
man s conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all the work in the
house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a household work by the
female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house. Women tend to see the results
instead of the work done to get those particular results. If men are doing the dishes, it is considered
nothing because they are just rinsing them and putting them in the dish washer, which is an easy job.
But it takes time to do it. Men are using up their time, in which they relax, to do the

Analysis Of Stephen Stills For What It s Worth
Event of the 60 s inspired Stephen Stills to write For What It s worth, the song then was released
months later by the group Buffalo Springfield according to the article Closing of club ignited the
Sunset strip club (Cecilia Rasmussen). The riot is also known as hippie riot. The reason it is
considered the hippie is that the protesters were young rock and roll fans, some were student and some
of them wore long hair. The reason behind the protest was that residents and business owners had
encouraged the passage of a 10 pm curfew. This is to reduce loitering and the traffic in that area. In
1966 there were a bunch of peaceful youthful protests going on in the Sunset Strip because of a club
getting shut down, and the police started beating them during one of the protests. This is usually
connected to the Vietnam War because it was made around the same era, and this song is very much
about peace and rebellion, which was the vibe during the Vietnam era. According to Rasmussen fliers
contained information about the protest were distributed earlier that day. And the protest began with
the protester blocking the traffic peacefully until a group of off duty marines showed up.
Even thou the song was inspired by the event previously mentioned. The song became one of the
protest song in the 60 s, the reason is that the lyrics of the song pretty much described the events that
took place in the 60 s and early 70 s. Due to the Vietnam War protest happened all over the country.

Introduction:
The Associated Press (AP) is an American news agency that was established in 1846 by five daily
newspapers from New York City. They established the cooperation in order to deliver news about the
Mexican War faster than the U.S. Post Office could. The known founder was Moses Yale Beach and
the first CEO, named Alexander Jones, came to power in 1848. Today the company is run by Tom

From the establishments of the company and forward it has been these people who have been
traveling all over the world, risking their lives in order to gather the breaking news that AP is so
famous for. These men and woman are the reason that AP has been able to be the first to deliver the
breaking news from many of the most important historical events happening to mankind. From the
bombing of Pearl Harbor and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln to the death of Pope John Paul II
and the fall of the shah of Iran the Associated Press s reporters has been there to break the news before
anyone else. The Associated Press has won 49 Pulitzer Prizes in both writing and photography which
gives another great example of what an amazing strength their reporters are to the company. The
trustworthiness among these reporters and photographers are once again proven.
When discussing human capital there is another branch that is contributing to the strengths of the
company and that are the people that deal with the corporate part of the company. Even if the reporters
and photographers are doing an amazing job creating a brand image for the company it could not be
one without the people running it. One example is the people in the Research and Development
department who are always ahead of their time creating new and innovative ideas for the company.
One example of this is the Stylebook a guidebook for journalists, reporters, and photographers all over
the world.

Urban Transport Problems And Environmental Problems
The term megacity refers to a densely populated, metropolitan area in which the total population
exceeds ten million people. Megacities tend to be thriving centers for cultural and economic progress
with a high rate of economic development. Of the 24 cities worldwide that are currently classed as
megacities, many of them are the capital city of a country, such as Paris, London, Tokyo, Beijing, and
Seoul, (Citypopulation.de, 2014). In recent years, with the rapid development of the economy, many
large cities around the world have been reclassified as megacities, particularly in developing countries.
As megacities develop, a lot of challenges and problems develop too, for example: high population,
urban transport problems and environmental problems. This essay will describe the main challenges
and possible solution. The first challenge is due to high population. A quick rise in population will
cause housing and food shortages and a rise in the price of general living. According to Yujun, Z.
(2011), in developing countries, the fastest population growth rate will be 7 8% annually; a burden in
most developing countries is that there is no population control, for example, in Beijing, China. By the
end of 2013, according to census data in China, the population of Beijing will be over 20 million.
Huge population problems for the city s infrastructure have brought tremendous pressure, housing and
food shortages. Grain yield is lower than the population growth rate so many people

Consequenses of Freedom in The Story of an Hour and A...
In The Story of an Hour and A pair of silk stocking Chopin illustrates how women face the
consequences of never acquiring happiness in their lives if they follow the ways society expects them

In the story of an hour Chopin discuss how getting married can lead you to live a life of anguish. In
the beginning of the short story Mrs. Mallard revives terrible news that her husband has been recently
killed, she Wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment. This intense reaction is how society would
expect her to act if your husband dies. Mrs. Mallard then goes into her bedroom to grieve alone: She

She had every right to spend money on herself, go where she wanted, and do whatever she wanted to
do without anyone questioning her. Having kids and a husband has affected her freedom greatly,
which is internally affecting her. With all these responsibilities she had no time no second of time to
devote to the past. Mrs. Sommers can t dwell in the past with so many things to do; she needs to focus
on getting though the present day with little money to spend. With never looking back on the past or
the future she is now trained in thinking that tomorrow will never come. Just like Mrs. Mallard not
thinking for herself and dreading the next day being the same, Mrs. Sommers has transformed into a
typical mother. Everyday is the same to her all she does is take care of her kids. Chopin continues to
display how following the expectations of society can be detrimental. After Mrs. Sommers figured out
what she wanted to spend on her children, she went shopping. She went into a store and sat down for a
minute feeling a bit tired and her hand unintentionally touched something wonderful. She looked
down to see that her hand lay upon a pile of silk stockings. Feeling these stockings made her feel
alive; she has wanted something this nice for a long time. she bought them and went to change into

Small Steps By Louis Sachar
Have you ever read or watched the movie, Holes ? Who was your favorite character? Wow! Armpit?
Well today must be your lucky day because in the book Small Steps by Louis Sachar, it revolves
around Armpit s life! To start off, one of my favorite quotes in the story would be, This is Theodore
Johnson, (Sachar, 2). I know you may be thinking, What s so significant about this quote? Thing is, in
Holes, everyone called him Armpit. We never actually knew what his real name was, but now we do.
You might be curious about his nickname Armpit, where did that come from? Well one day at Camp
Green Lake Juvenile Correction Center, Theodore aka Armpit, got stung by a scorpion and the pain
gradually traveled up through his body and stayed at his armpit. Another quote I enjoyed was, But I m
taking small steps cause I don t know where I m going. I m taking small steps and I don t know what
to say. Small steps, trying to pull myself together and maybe I ll discover a clue along the way!
(Sachar, 143). Personally, I love finding quotes that have the title in it. I feel as if this would be the
reason behind the title of the novel. Also this quote showed Armpit s thoughts. He has completely
changed ever since he got out of Camp Green Lake. He lost weight, he takes school seriously and tries
to get out of trouble. Anyways, this story starts off with Armpit holding a shovel once again, but this
time he was getting paid $7.65 an hour for it. It has been years since he has

A Sweet Friendship Refreshes The Soul Analysis
Proverbs 27.9 says a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. My quote relates to the essay by saying
friendship is something that refreshes the soul. When you are stressed, depressed or happy being with
a friend can help cheer you up or maintain your happiness. The family will always be here for us and
since you always see family you can get tired of seeing them. That s when friends come in, friends can
be the people you count when you re tired of being around and doing stuff with family. I believe
students should be allowed to spend more time with friends because we can get a break from parents,
talk about anything, and be free from housework.
One reason i believe students should be able to spend more time with friends on the weekend is
because you need breaks from your parents . Parents can irritate you by coming in to your room every
30 min. telling you to clean up something. They also can ask you a plethora of questions asking about
your friends and school life. Sometimes you simply don t want to talk about it. According to Robert
Von Nordheim Friendship can increase your sense of belonging and purpose, boost your happiness
reduce stress , improve self worth and help you cope with traumas . Things happen during the week
like drama s with friends, lots of homework , and taking studying for test. Those things can cause
stress and friends are the best people to help you relieve that stress. In addition to reading a break from
parents , I believe students should

Plebe Monologue
In preparation for writing this letter, I took the liberty of investigating the life of a Midshipman,
particularly the life of a Plebe. As I sifted through the details of your unimaginably rigorous summer,
my mind swelled with a pervasive sentiment of admiration for you and your fellow Plebes. Strength,
fortitude, courage, selflessness, and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the most awe
inspiring characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles and more in
a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize just how courageous you are
is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the commitment you make, never comprehend the
devotion you give, never comprehend the selflessness you exude, never comprehend the fortitude you
possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities, several individuals have celebrated
me as a motivated and nice or good person, but when I compare myself to you, your motivation and
goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for that fact I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect
and admiration for you; you are an extraordinary person, and I use the word extraordinary judiciously.

How to Patent a Website Idea: Everything You Need to Know
If you want to learn how to patent a website idea, it is important that you understand the steps
necessary to protect your website idea from others that may try to profit from your idea. For example,
a utility patent is the most common type of patent. It covers the functional aspects of an invention. In
order for an invention to qualify for patent protection, it must be useful, new, and non obvious. This
means that it must be have some sort of purpose, or otherwise, be useful to potential consumers. It
must be new, which means that the invention cannot be similar to another invention already patented.

Provisional Patents for Websites
A provisional patent application is filed with the USPTO and establishes an early filing date, but doesn
t amount to a formal patent application unless and until the applicant files a non provisional patent
application within the 12 months subsequent to filing the non provisional patent. A provisional patent
application is both less detailed and less costly. Immediately after you file your provisional patent
application, you can indicate that your website idea is patent pending. During this time period, you can
develop your website idea even further and turn your provisional patent application into a formal non
provisional patent application.
With a provisional application, you ll want to prepare diagrams and drawings of your website when
filing the application. When drafting the diagrams, consider the user interface itself, the software
generated process, and the administrative screens/cods/software used to maintain the website. Since
there are many unique business processes involved in your website, you want to keep each one
distinct, showcasing the unique methods and processes utilized, and how your website came together.
The more specific and detailed you can be, the higher your chance of patent protection. Always be
mindful that you can hire a qualified patent attorney to assist you with preparing your application. You
can even hire a professional to assist in the drawings,

There are a large variety of team types and different studies distinguish them by certain characteristics

Labor in Call Centers
CRITICAL ANALYSIS TAYLOR BAIN
Under scrutinized until the late 1990s, call centres have now got significant scholastic consideration.
The astounding and managed development of call centres, stretching out far past their starting bases in
the financial and telecommunications areas, has bewildered the early scepticism. The competitive
advantage for the companies picked up through the combination of phone and VDU advances, giving
immediate phone based client services and selling led to widespread of this phenomenon. the growing
financial sector has given the UK government s modernising motivation, which expects to guarantee
that, by 2002, 25% of its administrations are open electronically.
This case they investigated the truth of the labour processes at the call centres and labour related
issues. In this process, it has touched upon civil arguments concerning the way of IT work and the
current organisation. The significance to the call centre labour procedure are two ranges of theories in
concern. Firstly, and in particular, attention will be provided for the pertinence of Foucauldian
electronic Panopticon viewpoints, whose fascination has demonstrated overwhelming to both
prevalent commentators (Arkin, 1997) and scholastics (Fernie and Metcalf, 1997) as they have
endeavored to theorise the nature and knowledge of call centre work. Also, it makes reference to the
idea of emotional labour , as expounded at first by Hochschild (1983).

The Cause And Effects Of Air Pollution In The Beijing City
A Ghanaian and founder of Smart Youth Volunteers Foundation, Lailah Gifty Akita said Laziness has
made our cities unclean. If we begin to work and act appropriately, we will clean our cities of any dirt.
People s self centered personality had caused the pollution, and if people think more about the city and
implicate to help then people can get rid of the pollution. So, as the city that suffers from one of the
most serious pollutions, Beijing air quality is a getting worse every year because of the dearth of
citizen support. Also, Beijing population is increasing and as people increase so do the number of cars.
Unfortunately, the amount of trees shrinks, and the Beijing government cannot reduce the use of coal
that is unnecessary. Consequently, Beijing suffers from air pollution as a result of high population
density, commercial use of coal, and lack of citizen involvement. To begin with, the amount of
inhabitants in Beijing causes pollution. As the capital of China, most every Chinese person dreams of
living in Beijing, for this reason Beijing is full of people, and as they move in the air becomes worse.
Beijing population is increasing every day and as people increase car use also increases. With nearly
20 million of people living in Beijing, this amounts to 5 million cars driving around every day. Even
though the government tries to limit cars that drive in one day by the plate number of each car, but still
these cars create abundant carbon dioxide. To make matters

Essay on American Post-War Occupation of Japan
American Post War Occupation of Japan
The intent of the United States occupation of Japan was to neutralize the threat of another war, to
nourish the Japanese economy back to health, and to provide a stable democratic government for the
defeated nation. With General Douglas MacArthur acting as the supreme commander in charge of the
occupation, Japan changed drastically. Special attention was paid to the areas of military, economy,
and government. The effects of the United States occupation of Japan were profound almost beyond
reckoning, and have had enormous impacts on modern Japanese society as well as on almost every
other society in the modern world and throughout the course of history.

And if it was right in 1946 and wrong in 1953, why doesn t the United States admit for once that it

people in public life. I m going to admit right here that the United States did make a mistake in 1946.
We made a mistake because we misjudged the intention of the Soviet leaders. (Walt 168)
Although the United States did well in eliminating any future threats from Japan, it was realized later
on that Japan was left in the midst of a violent wave of communism with no means of defense but for
the United States which did not wish for a direct war on the Soviets, who backed all communist
countries.
After disarmament was complete, MacArthur s next task was to see that Japan adopted a new, and
democratic, constitution. When the Japanese government proved too confused or too reluctant to write
a constitutional reform that satisfied MacArthur, he had his own staff draft a new constitution in
February of 1946. This, with only minor changes made to please the conservative groups in Japan,
was then adopted by the Japanese government in the form of an imperial amendment to the 1889

The importance of structure in an organisation is...
The importance of structure in an organisation is imperative; structure enables different individuals to
know their position, their role and who is in charge. Organisations are structured in different ways
depending possibly on their size, culture, history and activity. Hierarchical structures can become too
tall, with a long chain of command or the different departments in the organisation can expand quickly
causing the leader s span of control to become to large, a span of control is the amount of persons the
leader controls, in a situation where the span of control is too large the leader will find it difficult to
communicate with team members individually which may be detrimental. Culture can be understood

A diverse team can also breakdown the barriers of stereotypes and phobia that maybe present in the
organisation. It could also enhance communication in the sense that the team member maybe tutor one

The impact of the leader on personal objective and team achievement, maybe extensive as mentioned
earlier the leader has the responsibility to inspire and motivate, and the concept of transformational
leadership style exhibits this responsibility where the leader desires to transform and improve the team
member. The leader ought to have a relationship with each team member even as he encourages the
team member on the things that concern the organisation the leader should also encourage the team
member on things that concern him or her personally, realistically if the team members personal
objectives is failing, there is great possibility that the team member will fail in his own part in the
organisation. The team members ability to achieve their personal objectives will likely reflect on the
team achievement, and will be credit on the part of leader, after all a manager is more concerned with
hitting targets, whilst the leader is concerned with team members.

Discourse Community In America
A discourse community is a group of individual who all have the same shared ideals, beliefs, values,
and rules all communicated with using the discourse community s own established language. For
example, a grouping of innovative scientists are describing new ways of curing diseases, using their
own terminologies some people may find confusing because they are possibly not a part of that
community overall. A foreigner traveling to America may find the culture to be puzzling and
conflicting with how people abbreviate their words, and enforce their beliefs unto others. That
foreigner will more than likely feel outcasted for being unaware of how Americans run their own
culture. When somebody visits southern parts of the United States, such as ... Show more content on

Individuals deciding to travel beyond their regular boundaries will need to accumulate knowledge of
the selected area before trekking it blindly; recognizing the community s background knowledge of its
pertinent exchange of values and rules will help ease in the culture. Inhabiting the same continent, a
plethora of individual cultures are home to individual communities, similar to the difference in
comparing and contrasting two incredibly diverse continents. The bottom line is that people will only

Sleep Stages
There are many different stages of sleep such as N1, N2, N3, and REM sleep. N1, N2, N3 are known
as Non REM sleep. There are two kinds of sleep which are REM AND NREM, or Non REM sleep.
Sleep is recorded using a polysomnography and brain wave activity is measured using an
electrocephalograph. It is said that you will spend 32 years of your life sleeping. In the first stage of
sleep known as N1 or transitional sleep, you will be in a light sleep. If you wake up during the N1
stage you will not believe that you have fallen asleep. This stage you can also have visual events
called hypnogogic images or hallucinations. They say that this may explain why people think that they
have seen a ghost. During this stage you may also experience hypnic jerk. Hypnic jerk is the
relaxation of muscles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage your body temperature will drop, your heart rate will slow down, and breathing will
become more shallow and irregular. When brain waves are measured during N2 stage of sleep they
will still be mostly theta waves but you will also see some sleep spindles. The third stage of sleep is
known as N3. This is the stage where the deepest sleep occurs. When awaken during this stage you
will be very confused and disoriented. In this stage growth hormones are excreted from the pituitary
gland. This is why they say children sleep harder than adults because they are growing. When brain
waves are measured in this stage they are delta waves. In the final stage of sleep called R or REM
sleep but also known as Rapid Eye Movement sleep, you will have to progress back through stage N2
to get to REM. In this stage the body temperature rises to a near waking level, eyes begin to move
rapidly, and the heart rate becomes faster. More than half of dreams occur in REM sleep. Dreams in
this stage will seem more vivid and life like. You can also experience sleep paralysis. This stage
occurs every 90

Montag s Use Of Control In Fahrenheit 451
Next, all three of these titles had ways they implemented control. In the novel Fahrenheit 451,
implementation of control was through television. One day Mildred, the wife of the main character,
Montag, was in the house with nothing but TV s everywhere. Then from the novel, Montag said, How
long you figure we save up and get a fourth TV put in? . This quote explains one way control was
implemented through television because this shows how nowadays most of people s main concern is
the TV. TV is their main source for implementing control because with this source, they can tell
everyone what they want the people to hear. Especially because everyone has a TV, they can just show
people on commercials how books are unacceptable, as well as ... Show more content on

In Fahrenheit 451, the plan for control wasn t too effective by the end of the story. Beatty s plan was to
have knowledge over everyone, but it didn t end that way. The last thing Montag the main character
and hero of the novel said was, When we reach the city. This quote explains how Beatty s plan didn t
work out, because if Beatty s plan had ve worked, Montag wouldn t be able to leave the town. Montag
also has a dramatic effect on Beatty, which left him to kill himself, and later the city explodes. In the
novel, 1984, the effectiveness of the plan failed and became a dystopian for the main character,
Winston. Towards the end of the story, Winston shows how Big Brother had finally gotten to him by
telling the love of his life, Julia, Under the spreading chestnut tree,I sold you and you sold me . This
quote represents how the effectiveness of the utopian society failed because it shows how Winston
started off as a normal person, and by brainwashing him, they turned him into a totally different
person. For the people of that society hope is very low, thanks to the team of people always watching
making their lives miserable. Finally, in the movie The Giver, the effectiveness of their plan to control
the people failed. Jonas the hero of this movie had became the new receiver for the injections and
medicine and stopped giving them to the people because he believed in human rights and giving a
chance for the people to have their own feelings. Due to Jonas s braveness, he was able to change the
Elder s utopia into a dystopia. It then became a utopia for the people because they have feelings and
can express themselves now. All three titles had an equally ineffective utopia, and ended up with their
plans failing. Regardless of the implementation or motivation, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and The Giver,
are all unsuccessful in establishing a utopia because you can t control

Taking a Look at Civil Engineers
The job of a civil engineer is to fix, or build many of our modern conveniences including bridges.
Skill in math (specifically measurement and angles) is required for the most part. It is a risky job
though because if you design something wrong, you will pay big. Civil engineers are a soul of a cities
construction.
Civil Engineers have many job duties because many workers depend on them. Civil engineers have a
lot of variables in their building including construction cost, and government regulations. They also
preform many tests to determine how they will build on the area, and what the structure is built with (
Civil Engineers. Career). The job requires provide or present findings, cost estimates, and submit
permits or applications. They manage many workers including Civil engineering technicians,
architects, and construction workers ( Civil Engineers. U.S.). Civil engineers have very important job
duties because if their structures fail that will not be good for them.
The work environments of a civil engineer can vary widely. Civil engineers Most of the time work
near major cities, but sometimes they work in remote or foreign areas. Offices, labs, factories and the
actual sites are work environments of many civil engineers. In offices they typically develop plans for
a survey. If the Civil engineers visit the site of the job they usually take photos and measurements
there ( Civil Engineers Encyclopedia 529). Civil engineers stay indoors mostly at their offices ( Civil

Online Class Vs. Traditional Classes
Many more people would enjoy school if it was convenient to their time. A great solution to this
problem is online classes. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional classes,
and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the instructor.
In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are more
convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments, testing and
materials, convenience and interaction/discussions. First, the assignments for both classes both require
resource materials like text books. For traditional class students the assignments are homework , but
online students do all of their work at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow
classmates easier than those who are taking online classes. The discussion for online classes is based
on comments and emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to talk to
professors due to slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate unless
they reach out through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware of others
schedules and it is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. An
advantage of online classes is you are able to learn from professors around the world which allows
you to broaden your perspective and learn from different viewpoints. Overall, the only major
difference between online and traditional classes is the interaction. Traditional classes give more
interaction between your teacher and classmates, compared to online classes. Online classes can be
harder depending on what kind of learner you are, due to the lack of face to face interaction between
the student and professor. Online classes are more convenient to your time and they are just as
educational. Both kinds of classes have tests and assignments just in a different learning

Currently, the part of bioethics that is most developed in Malaysia is that which relates to biosafety
which is governed by the Biosafety Act 2007 (hereinafter the 2007 Act ). This Act is under the auspice
of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE). However, strangely the biotechnology
industry is under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). As
for the agriculture industry, the relevant ministry is the Ministry of Agriculture, while the Ministry of
Health is responsible for medical practices and food products. The fact that different ministries are
involved in governing issues in biotechnology has led to not only the lack of coordination between
them but also possible overlapping functions in implementing the 2007 Act and its regulation. Apart
from this, however, the provisions of the 2007 Act is rather vague on other bioethical issues. The 2007
Act which was gazetted in 2007, generally provides for biosafety and addresses all Living Modified
Organisms (LMOs). It is interesting to note that Malaysia uses the term LMOs rather than GMOs and
Malaysia has made a declaration in the Convention of Biodiversity 1994 that the former term gives
meaning to the latter. The 2007 Act is envisaged to strike a rather difficult balance between the
creation of a sustainable biosafety on the one hand and the protection of

Analysis Of The Movie The Cheeks Were Red
Long before Woody Allen s jasmine was blue, his cheeks were red over an allegation about a midnight
not in Paris, but in his attic. He was called an irrational man within the halls of his own home in
Manhattan, putting Allen in a new kind of spotlight. After ending his twelve year relationship with
Mia Farrow, accusations arose claiming that Mr. Allen had molested the couples adopted daughter
Dylan when she was seven. However, despite the precarious circumstances in which the allegations
arose, both sides continue to maintain their respective arguments. Mr. Allen objects to said
accusations, claiming he is innocent. Mia, on the opposing side, is in defense of Dylan (now thirty)

Even though the accusation were ludicrous in nature Mia pushed and charges were being sought for
Woody Allen. A progression of police investigations followed, in which the Connecticut Police
enlisted the help of the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of the Yale New Haven Hospital. After evaluating
all parties involved they summed up their conclusions by making a public statement that follows thus;
It is our expert opinion that Dylan was not sexually abused by Mr. Allen. Further, we believe that
Dylan s statements on videotape and her statements to us during our evaluation do not refer to actual
events that occurred to her on August 4th, 1992 (Allen). Due to these finding Mr. Allen was not
charged with any crimes, but found the judge irresponsible for his verdict of we will probably never
know what occurred (Allen). As a result of the scandal, Mr. Allen lost custody of his children. Twenty
years after the accusations, Dylan Farrow makes her first public comment on the incident in an open
letter published in The New York Times. In the letter she states her firm belief that Mr. Allen is guilty,
in addition she shames many celebrities by name for continuing to work with Woody Allen. In

Critique of the Gifted and Talented Evaluation Scales
There are six sections in the response/summary forms (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Section
one is for identifying information of the student; while section two is where the assessor records the
student s raw scores. Section three plots the results of the GATES in a clear illustration to show the
student s performance against other gifted and talented students. Section four, five, and six all further
detail the raw score of the student by converting the raw score into percentiles, etc. Once the scores
are completed they can be assessed against the individual scales. Based on the student s scores, a
comparison is made against the ranging standard scale to estimate the likelihood of giftedness and
talentedness of the student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reflects that the number of items between the maximum score and the average are consistent and
reliable. Test retest reliability, in the short term of one week, on all scales except artistic talent were
fair to good (r .59 to .79) for gifted students and excellent (r .80) for average students and students
with handicaps (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002, p. 329). Inter rater reliability measures the test s
reliability and consistency across raters (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). GATES does not provide
any information regarding inter rater reliability. Validity Validity is the assessment of the test s
informational construct, content, and criterion (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Despite the fact
that GATES does not reference any giftedness theory or theory of support, content validity is
confirmed for GATES since the test was developed based on literature reviews, critiques of existing
rating scales, and academic and test construction experts of the field (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris,
2002, p. 330). A combination between federal guidelines on giftedness and a confirmatory item
analysis is the basis of GATES creation. Construct validity is an additional way to provide support for
GATES construction by examining its factor structure (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Through a
discriminant analysis, GATES findings incorrectly classified some students as being gifted in
leadership (60% of the time) and

  • 2. Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity As the power industry expands and improves the technological functionality, control, and monitoring components used in generation, transmission, and distribution, the vulnerabilities of the power grid to cybersecurity attacks greatly increase. Not all cybersecurity attacks are preventable, but the current security regulation and compliance requirements set by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) are not adequate to prevent even the most common types of attacks. When attacks occur, they can lead to lengthy system blackouts where the impact may range from minor inconvenience to possible public harm in a variety of ways including loss of access to food, fuel, money, communication, asset protection and security, and even healthcare. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The core of this framework has five basic functions as it relates to cybersecurity: identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover (Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity). With regard to required compliance versus voluntary security, compliance with regulations does not ensure security. The BES consists of both generation and transmission assets and devices, but does not include system distribution. There are also potential risks associated with the technologies and operations of the distribution system though, so the distribution system must be included in the cybersecurity discussion. One such distribution security risk involves the increasing popularity of smart meters and the fact that there are no cybersecurity regulations associated with them. Of all the BES components, cyberattacks on transmission assets and devices pose the greatest risk to public safety due to a greater potential impact than attacks on other types of BES components. For example, the knockout of a transmission substation that is only the connection between multiple power lines, would have a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Delivery Of Health Related Services Literature Review In our current healthcare system, the delivery of health related services involves the movement of patients from one care setting to another. Also recognized as transitions of care these actions often occur between acute care hospitals and post acute care settings such as rehabilitation centers and nursing homes. Transitions of care, however, do not only occur between in patient settings. Patients discharged from the hospital to their home or shuffled between a primary care clinic and specialty clinic also experience transitions of care. In any instance, transitions of care place patients at increased risk for errors due to ineffective communication between doctors, nurses, patients, and other service providers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marcotte, Kirtane, Lynn, and Mckethan explored how health information technology (HIT) integration could allow for more seamless transitions of care (2015). Based on data acquired from the Beacon Communities and the National Quality Forum Safe Practices Report they identified four areas in which HIT could be used to improve transitions between the acute care hospital and post acute setting. The areas identified were the discharge process, information flow and feedback, medication and adherence, and patient and caregiver engagement (Marcotte, et al., 2014). While some HIT innovations have been successfully implemented they found that the incorporation of HIT in transitions of care was still significantly underdeveloped (Marcotte et al., 2015). This was greatly attributed to the sluggish adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) as well as a lack of EHR interoperability to allow for nationwide information exchange (Marcotte et. al., 2015). Despite these barriers, there have been some practical HIT developments such as electronic risk stratification tools and clinical decision support tools. These instruments identify patients at increased risk for post acute complications by scoring clinical prognosis, functional status, social, and economic factors. Electronic tools such as these allow discharge planners, case managers, and other members of the care team to identify at risk patients earlier and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Y is considered the predicted score). The mathematical equation for the sample general linear model is represented as:  Yi = b0 + b1Xi + ei. In this equation the values of a and b can be thought of as values that maximize the explanatory power or predictive accuracy of X in relation to Y. In maximizing explanatory power or predictive accuracy these values minimize prediction error. The 1930s, the period of the Great Depression is perhaps the most unstable financial time in United States history. The decade where more than 40 percent of nation s banks disappeared crippled the economy for years and caused the Senate to pass the Glass Steagall Act (part of the U.S. Banking Act of 1933). After an attempt to decrease racism by busing in african american children to a school, a new head football coach comes to the school. The coach is struggling with racism and breaking the barriers left by segregation. Segregation was ended in the 1960s and implementing mixed race schools caused a lot of backlash from the racist white communities. The new coach, Coach Boone, is african american. This complicates things because not many from the community or the school are willing embrace all races. To begin, Coach Boone starts off the season by making the players learn about each other. This helps to defuse the racism by getting the players to learn their likes and dislikes. This helps them bond and realize that they have a lot in common, which brings them closer. The movie also shows Coach Boone making non segregated dorms. After the camp, the players learned that the only thing they didn t have in common was the color of their skin. Women Are The Ones Who Handle Household Chores Always women are the ones who handle the household chores Household chores like doing the laundry, cleaning the utensils, taking care of children and making food is always done by women. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman doing the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has existed since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do. According to Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day, 66.6% men and 85% women report doing some sort of household activity. Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his spouse or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he is contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than nothing. No man s conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all the work in the house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a household work by the female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house. Women tend to see the results instead of the work done to get those particular results. If men are doing the dishes, it is considered nothing because they are just rinsing them and putting them in the dish washer, which is an easy job. But it takes time to do it. Analysis Of Stephen Stills For What It s Worth Event of the 60 s inspired Stephen Stills to write For What It s worth, the song then was released months later by the group Buffalo Springfield according to the article Closing of club ignited the Sunset strip club (Cecilia Rasmussen). The riot is also known as hippie riot. The reason it is considered the hippie is that the protesters were young rock and roll fans, some were student and some of them wore long hair. The reason behind the protest was that residents and business owners had encouraged the passage of a 10 pm curfew. This is to reduce loitering and the traffic in that area. In 1966 there were a bunch of peaceful youthful protests going on in the Sunset Strip because of a club getting shut down, and the police started beating them during one of the protests. This is usually connected to the Vietnam War because it was made around the same era, and this song is very much about peace and rebellion, which was the vibe during the Vietnam era. According to Rasmussen fliers contained information about the protest were distributed earlier that day. And the protest began with the protester blocking the traffic peacefully until a group of off duty marines showed up. Even thou the song was inspired by the event previously mentioned. The song became one of the protest song in the 60 s, the reason is that the lyrics of the song pretty much described the events that took place in the 60 s and early 70 s. • 12. Urban Transport Problems And Environmental Problems The term megacity refers to a densely populated, metropolitan area in which the total population exceeds ten million people. Megacities tend to be thriving centers for cultural and economic progress with a high rate of economic development. Of the 24 cities worldwide that are currently classed as megacities, many of them are the capital city of a country, such as Paris, London, Tokyo, Beijing, and Seoul, (Citypopulation.de, 2014). In recent years, with the rapid development of the economy, many large cities around the world have been reclassified as megacities, particularly in developing countries. As megacities develop, a lot of challenges and problems develop too, for example: high population, urban transport problems and environmental problems. This essay will describe the main challenges and possible solution. The first challenge is due to high population. A quick rise in population will cause housing and food shortages and a rise in the price of general living. According to Yujun, Z. (2011), in developing countries, the fastest population growth rate will be 7 8% annually; a burden in most developing countries is that there is no population control, for example, in Beijing, China. By the end of 2013, according to census data in China, the population of Beijing will be over 20 million. Mrs. Sommers can t dwell in the past with so many things to do; she needs to focus on getting though the present day with little money to spend. • 14. Small Steps By Louis Sachar Have you ever read or watched the movie, Holes ? Who was your favorite character? Wow! Armpit? Well today must be your lucky day because in the book Small Steps by Louis Sachar, it revolves around Armpit s life! To start off, one of my favorite quotes in the story would be, This is Theodore Johnson, (Sachar, 2). I know you may be thinking, What s so significant about this quote? Thing is, in Holes, everyone called him Armpit. We never actually knew what his real name was, but now we do. You might be curious about his nickname Armpit, where did that come from? Well one day at Camp Green Lake Juvenile Correction Center, Theodore aka Armpit, got stung by a scorpion and the pain gradually traveled up through his body and stayed at his armpit. Another quote I enjoyed was, But I m taking small steps cause I don t know where I m going. I m taking small steps and I don t know what to say. Small steps, trying to pull myself together and maybe I ll discover a clue along the way! (Sachar, 143). Personally, I love finding quotes that have the title in it. I feel as if this would be the reason behind the title of the novel. Also this quote showed Armpit s thoughts. He has completely changed ever since he got out of Camp Green Lake. He lost weight, he takes school seriously and tries to get out of trouble. • 15. A Sweet Friendship Refreshes The Soul Analysis Proverbs 27.9 says a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. My quote relates to the essay by saying friendship is something that refreshes the soul. When you are stressed, depressed or happy being with a friend can help cheer you up or maintain your happiness. The family will always be here for us and since you always see family you can get tired of seeing them. That s when friends come in, friends can be the people you count when you re tired of being around and doing stuff with family. I believe students should be allowed to spend more time with friends because we can get a break from parents, talk about anything, and be free from housework. One reason i believe students should be able to spend more time with friends on the weekend is because you need breaks from your parents . Parents can irritate you by coming in to your room every 30 min. telling you to clean up something. They also can ask you a plethora of questions asking about your friends and school life. Sometimes you simply don t want to talk about it. According to Robert Von Nordheim Friendship can increase your sense of belonging and purpose, boost your happiness reduce stress , improve self worth and help you cope with traumas . Things happen during the week like drama s with friends, lots of homework , and taking studying for test. Those things can cause stress and friends are the best people to help you relieve that stress. In addition to reading a break from parents , I believe students should ... As I sifted through the details of your unimaginably rigorous summer, my mind swelled with a pervasive sentiment of admiration for you and your fellow Plebes. Strength, fortitude, courage, selflessness, and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the most awe inspiring characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles and more in a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize just how courageous you are is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the commitment you make, never comprehend the devotion you give, never comprehend the selflessness you exude, never comprehend the fortitude you possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities, several individuals have celebrated me as a motivated and nice or good person, but when I compare myself to you, your motivation and goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for that fact I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect and admiration for you; you are an extraordinary person, and I use the word extraordinary judiciously. ... A provisional patent application is both less detailed and less costly. Immediately after you file your provisional patent application, you can indicate that your website idea is patent pending. During this time period, you can develop your website idea even further and turn your provisional patent application into a formal non provisional patent application. With a provisional application, you ll want to prepare diagrams and drawings of your website when filing the application. The astounding and managed development of call centres, stretching out far past their starting bases in the financial and telecommunications areas, has bewildered the early scepticism. The competitive advantage for the companies picked up through the combination of phone and VDU advances, giving immediate phone based client services and selling led to widespread of this phenomenon. the growing financial sector has given the UK government s modernising motivation, which expects to guarantee that, by 2002, 25% of its administrations are open electronically. If we begin to work and act appropriately, we will clean our cities of any dirt. So, as the city that suffers from one of the most serious pollutions, Beijing air quality is a getting worse every year because of the dearth of citizen support. Also, Beijing population is increasing and as people increase so do the number of cars. Unfortunately, the amount of trees shrinks, and the Beijing government cannot reduce the use of coal that is unnecessary. Consequently, Beijing suffers from air pollution as a result of high population density, commercial use of coal, and lack of citizen involvement. To begin with, the amount of inhabitants in Beijing causes pollution. As the capital of China, most every Chinese person dreams of living in Beijing, for this reason Beijing is full of people, and as they move in the air becomes worse. And I m going to say something that I think perhaps ought to be done more by people in public life. I m going to admit right here that the United States did make a mistake in 1946. We made a mistake because we misjudged the intention of the Soviet leaders. (Walt 168) Although the United States did well in eliminating any future threats from Japan, it was realized later on that Japan was left in the midst of a violent wave of communism with no means of defense but for the United States which did not wish for a direct war on the Soviets, who backed all communist countries. After disarmament was complete, MacArthur s next task was to see that Japan adopted a new, and democratic, constitution. When the Japanese government proved too confused or too reluctant to write a constitutional reform that satisfied MacArthur, he had his own staff draft a new constitution in February of 1946. This, with only minor changes made to please the conservative groups in Japan, was then adopted by the Japanese government in the form of an imperial amendment to the 1889 constitution. Japan s new democracy went into effect on May 3, 1947. The new constitution was a perfection of the British parliamentary form of government that the Japanese had been moving toward in the 1920 s.
