Adolescent Suicide Is A Preventable Public Health Issue
Introduction
Although most of the media attention focuses on adolescent homicide, suicide deaths should have us
more alarmed, and we should understand that adolescent suicide is a preventable public health issue.
In adolescent Suicide deaths are more prevalent than homicide deaths (CDC, 2012). According to the
National Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Web based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System
(WISQARS), suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents age 13 to 17 (CDC, 2016).
That number surpasses the number of deaths due to chronic diseases such as cancer, HIV, and
diabetes. While this is a significant number, not all suicide attempts are reported (Joiner, 2005).
Furthermore, suicide accounted for 10 % of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Durkheim, 1951, Danigelis, Pope,1979).
Shneidman s theory of psychache argues suicide is caused by a certain kind of psychological pain.
Risk factors increases psychache which leads an individual to suicidality (Shneidman, 1993). The pain
is so unbearable to an individual that the only way to relieve it is suicide. Baumeister s escape theory
of suicide believes certain steps promotes suicide, 1) individuals perception of expectations and actual
events are more negative, 2) an aversive self awareness develops, (individual focuses on negative
aspects of them self and become depressed) 3) in an attempt to escape the effects from the first two
steps an individual goes into a state of cognitive deconstruction (.Baumeister, 1990) This reduces
inhibition which leads to a lack of impulse control.
These theories focus more on the emotional and psychological aspect of suicide. They seem to identify
what causes the suicide ideation. However, it does not explain how one goes from emotion to action.
Just because someone has thought about suicide, does not mean they will attempt suicide, they need to
have the acquired capability (lack of fear of dying) in order to attempt suicide (Joiner, 2005, Van
Orden et al.,). Suicide is a very difficult act, it requires you to go against the self preservation you
have been programmed with (Ohman Mineka, 2001).

In theory, it has been proved that futures and swaps can be equal to the combination of forwards. (Hull
J C, 1997)Generally, a foreign exchange settlement contract will be signed by banks and their
customers, which stipulates the type of foreign currency to be used, the sum, the exchange rates and
duration. On the due date when income or expenditure of foreign exchange occurs, currency exchange
settlement will be operated in accordance with the contract. In order to improve efficiency, it s
necessary to adjust the hedging when using forward contracts. (Brealey R, Kaplanis E. 1995)When the
interest rate fluctuates randomly, the forwards strategy can be divided into three smaller parts: the
Minimum Variance Hedging, Merton / Breeden Hedging and speculation. (Briys E, Solnik B.
1992)When the interest rate is certain, there is no price difference between futures contracts and
forward contracts. Perfect hedge can be achieved, no matter what type of hedging tools is used.
However, the two is no longer able to replace each other when interest rates move randomly, because
of the existence of marking to market in futures market operation. The above selection is based on the
effectiveness of futures and forwards. Next, the selection rules will emphasis on other features.
Futures contracts are standardized by the Exchange, where the transactions usually take place.
Forward contracts are signed between

The Hardest Job That I Have Ever Had Changed My Life
The hardest job that I have ever had in my life that required a lot of my time and effort, is raising my
sons . I was and I still am a single mother of three boys, Tunji (my oldest), Jaylon and Jaleel (my
twins). This has and is a fulltime job, but I am not going to speak about the present, only my past life
of raising my three sons. I have always worked but there was a time that I had to stop working in order
to focus on my twins. I knew from the age of 1 year old, something just wasn t quite right with their
behavior and cognitive development was lacking in a lot of areas. For example; not talking, just
babbling and pointing at objects, loud noises caused them to shut down and cover their ears, lining up
objects and any little disturbance in their routine caused them to have a tantrum or screaming fit. It
was so hard trying to get answers from doctors, their favorite thing to say to me was it s a twin thing
they will grow out of it. This was the beginning of a long hard road. The three most enjoyable things
that I liked about this job is: Investigating, finding out what was wrong with my sons? Why are they
behaving in this manner? I was relentless in finding out and I didn t stop until I received all the right
answers. I finally started getting answers, first I found out that they had a sleeping disorder, so they
was put on sleeping pills, my thought was YES, I will know get sleep! The second diagnoses was
ADHD, which explained the bouncing off the walls, floors

Service Line Management
Service Line Management Task 1 In order for a company to continue to grow and expand, it must
have a need for additional services and customer satisfaction. To focus on patient care, one must
engage in property development. There are multiple ways this can be accomplished. To begin, this
writer will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of building, buying, or leasing property to
establish a new orthopedic service line. First, the concept of building a Physical Therapy center should
be considered. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) stated in the email, the cost of construction is
$120 per square foot for 5,000 square feet. This would total $600,000 to build on hospital property.
The advantage to this would be that the hospital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this option is the most costly, other factors have to be considered. In comparison to building
the site, this option is $100,000 more, but saves space on campus. It can be sold if needed, whereas a
newly constructed property on campus could not. The hospital would have to find a use for the space.
In comparison to leasing the building, if the hospital needed to expand or get out of the lease, that
normally does not happen. A contract is normally signed with a lease and the signee is responsible to
uphold the contract. The hospital could be stuck in that situation. By purchasing this building, the
hospital could also be able to start the PT program sooner than expected. The hospital would not be
waiting on construction which could possibly take a long period of time. During the time the hospital
would be waiting for construction to complete, they can be earning revenue by purchasing the already
constructed building and lot. They would have an immediate revenue which could generate the capital
reserve the CFO needs to keep intact. A new service line could greatly improve the revenue of the
hospital. Buying and starting the program sooner is the best option for the needs of the facility. A PT
program by the hospital will also make patients happy. Happy patients means return customers. Return
customers means more revenue. Revenue is what causes a business to

The Case Of Thornton V Shoe Lane Parking
Key Issues 1. Is Jack Sprat bound by the exclusion clause within the Conditions of Carriage of AusFly

Jack s attention? 2. Is Jack Sprat s injury (ie severe allergic reaction) the result of the negligence of

be enforced? Laws Law 1: Under common law, a party can agree to expressed terms within a contract

Was the writing very small, written in plain English? Law 2: Under statute law, unfair terms within a
contract are deemed by the court as unenforceable. As a result, the court will remove these terms from
the standard form contract, and treat the contract as if the term was never present (Australian
Consumer Law s 23(1)). One such example of unfair terms is when a term that allows one party (but
not the other) to vary the terms of the contract after it has been agreed to (ACL s 25(1)(d)). In order to
void the term under the Act (ACL s 23 (1)), two main requirements must be satisfied: 1. The term
must be unfair and 2. The contract must be a standard form contract In this particular case, the airline
appears to have waived / varied this policy (term) by allowing Jack to check in and board the aircraft
even though he missed the Check In Deadline by 5 minutes. Therefore, it would seem unreasonable
for the airline to then attempt to reintroduce this term of the contract in order to avoid paying a refund
after they subsequently removed him from the flight due to overbooking. In addition, it would also be
unfair to not provide a refund on items purchased (eg accommodation) as missing the Check In
Deadline is unrelated to the accommodation. Request for Further Information: What are the

The Catcher In The Rye Analysis
In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger tells the story of a teenage boy, Holden Caulfield,
who has just been expelled for failing four out of his five classes, from his third boarding school,
Pencey Prep. Holden, a sixteen year old junior in high school, is transitioning from being a child to
becoming an adult. However, he is struggling to grow up, mostly because of his very negative and
cynical view towards adults and growing up, and seems emotionally stuck in childhood, unable to
develop into a young man. Throughout the book, Holden mentions quite a few times that his secret
goal in life is to be the catcher in the rye , meaning that he wants to catch children before they fall off
the cliff of innocence and childhood into adulthood. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger uses this
metaphor, being the savior of childhood innocence , as a symbol throughout the novel to represent the
hardship and painfulness of growing up.
Indeed, Holden tells his little sister, Phoebe, that all he wants to be in life is the catcher in the rye :
That s all I d do all day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it s crazy, but that s the only
thing I d really like to be. I know it s crazy (225). In this metaphor, he envisions children playing in a
field of rye, full of joy and innocence. This field is located on a very dangerous cliff, and if a child
were to come too close to the edge of the cliff, Holden would be there to catch and save them, from
falling from

Definition And Diagnostic Criteria Of Dd
In this paragraph I will describe the definition and diagnostic criteria of PTSD.
What is trauma? According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). It is direct personal
experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other threat to one
s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the physical integrity
of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or violent death, serious
harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other close associate. Current
studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to more trauma than average
Americans.
PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and
veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike
military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to
acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of PTSD
may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as human
nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current diagnostic
classification systems.
The PTSD diagnosis first appeared in DSM III in 1980. Prior to 1980, PTSD was not recognized as a
mental illness. The change came largely due to efforts of Vietnam Veteran supporters.

Siddhartha Gautama And The Eight-Fold Path
2.0 Introduction to Buddhism
Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha, founded the Buddhist faith that now has 300 million
followers worldwide. Buddhism focuses on enlightenment rather than worshipping a god
(buddhanet.net, 2017)
3.0 Background of Buddha
Born in 624BC in Lumbini, Nepal, Siddhartha was the prince of a small Indian Empire. He had a
luxurious start to life and was destined to be either a great political leader or a religious teacher.
Wanting him to be a political leader, his father restricted his visits outside of the palace and tried to
give him a lavish life (The Buddha EP1, 2010). Siddhartha s first time out of the palace walls revealed
to him the suffering and poverty in his surrounding village. He then left the palace ... Show more

Buddha emphasised the belief that all people are equal and showed that one could not attain
enlightenment through riches and possessions (religioustolerance.org, Robinson, B). He did this by
leaving his palace routine behind and adopting a simpler life. He surrounded himself with people from
all social statuses and taught his beliefs to those he met on his travels and his followers. By doing this,
he showed that everyone was entitled to knowledge, whether they were a Brahmin like him or an
Untouchable. Buddhists all around the world also show their beliefs by living a humble life and
sharing their knowledge with everyone who shows interest. The extent of Buddha s commitment to his
beliefs is the reason why he is remembered as a great teacher and role model to the

The Replacement Of A Single Tooth
Introduction:
The replacement of a single tooth lost due to dental caries or trauma can be challenging for a clinician.
Traditionally several options are indicated in order to restore the edentulous space including
implant/crown, fixed partial dentures (FPD) or removable partial denture (RPD). However economic
factors, occlusal disturbances, lack of adequate bone support or excessive removal of healthy dental
structure are some of the limiting factors in the traditional treatment modalities.
One approach that is overlooked and may serve as a good treatment modality is the Fiber Reinforced
Composite Bridge (FRCB). FRCBs are minimally invasive and economic treatment modalities that
can be utilized to replace of a missing tooth and restore an edentulous space.
The ideal site for a conservative FRCB is an edentulous space spanning one to two teeth. Other
considerations include occlusion or the bite relation, periodontal status, oral hygiene, and the status of
abutment teeth.
It should be noted that this modality of treatment is the not the most ideal modaility of treatment
however, it does provide an alternative approach if the ideal modality (Implant/Crown, FPD, RPD) is
not accepted or acceptable. Patient accepting this treatment modality should be aware that there is a
risk of aspiration. Retention with FRCB cannot reach the level of FPDs; more conservative
preparations and bonded nature FRCBs are two reasons worth noting. Patients should exercise care
chewing directly

Research Paper On Domes
In the beginning a lot of people thought they were going to die. Hi I m Maddie Baker and I am a
survivor of a horrible event. In 2020 all the national newsgroups were afraid their systems were
picking up evidence of a 75 mile wide meteorite coming towards Earth. They said the meteorite would
not get to earth for another year or two. They also said it was possible for the meteorite to hit Mars or
another planet before it got to Earth. I was 16 years old at the time and I felt like my life was over
already. I was convinced the we were going to die until the news said, A man named Jim Wipan is
trying to make domes for people to live at if the meteorite hits Earth. He is willing to pay for them all
to be built. The only downfall is he is saying that you will have to bring 20 gallons of water and it cost
2500 dollars just as a tuition. Later you would have to pay up to 8000 dollars.
While I was listening to the news I was thinking what if my family and I could get a dome. Then the
TV said how much the domes cost. Also I have a family of four that means we would have to bring 80
gallons of water. Then I thought what if we make our one domes.

I am going to be talking about Moses and the law it was written in the book of exodus. Moses was
born a Hebrew in Egypt. Hebrews we re an Israelite slave in Egypt at the time when Moses was born
Hebrews started to expand so large that the Egyptians started getting terrified and saying what if the

therefore if the Hebrews wanted to take over they will be able to because they outnumber the
Egyptians. Pharaoh came up with this idea If he killed all Hebrew baby boys at birth he wouldn t have
to worry about that problem so Pharaoh ordered that all Hebrew baby boys are to be put to death at
birth.
Moses mother had been hiding him for three months she was afraid of keeping him any longer The
reason they hid him for just three months was, because during that period he was able to remain a bit

a new system which he believed would encourage suitable foreign investment. FIRA was criticized by
those who concerned about American economic influence, since it almost approved every application
it received. At the time, in some industries, such as the petroleum and rubber products industries,
foreign control exceeded ninety per cent. Over three fourths of this control was held by United Sates
investors.6 These new and old policies brought better and higher rate of business income between
Canada and the United Sates, which resulted in closer ties between the two countries. In 1987,
Mulroney opened up negotiations that would eventually lead to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

The Universal Truth In Faust By Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer and polymath back in the 1800s. Goethe is considered the
supreme genius of modern German literature. Although he was alive so long ago, the ideas he put out
there are still pertinent to the modern world. Goethe s quote is a universal truth and his philosophy is
even proven. Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always
ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the
ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans that the moment one definitely commits
oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help that would never have otherwise
occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poem has many different aspects that can be analyzed in interpreted. These different aspects of
Faust emphasize the greater nature of good versus evil. These aspects include the time period of what
Goethe set the play and the time he wrote the play, the setting gives a greater portrait of the conflicts
that arise, and the plot gives the enhancement of right and wrong. The characters, for instance, has the
natural antagonist, the Devil (qtd. In Bierhorst, 2010). In different religions, the Devil has many
different names, such as Lucifer, Satan, The Wicked One, or The Arch Fiend. Due to Goethe s natural
culture as a German, he naturally names the Devil as Mephistopheles, or in short, Mephisto. Mephisto
is the antagonist in the poem because he tries to move Faust in the direction of evil and temptation. As
the antagonist, he eventually is defeated by an element he is unaware of, love. Mephisto creates his
own doom, by presenting Faust a woman that he will eventually love. Mephisto tried to tempt Faust
into lust because he wanted Faust to surrender his soul to him. So in order for Mephisto to succeed in
his goals, he was supposed to meet all of Faust s desires. Unfortunately, the one desire Faust wanted,
backfires on Mephisto s plan. The next character in Faust is Faust himself. He is naturally the
protagonist in the short poem. Faust is a known physician in his town and learned as many traits as he
could. Unfortunately, his human desire of greed had consumed his mindset. Even though he
accomplished all that he wanted, he eventually turned to evil or magic and made a pact with the devil.
In the first act of the poem, he seems to have the intentions of more of the antagonist; more evil doing

Benefits Of A Good Credit Score
Having a good credit score is one of the best matters one can involve themselves in. Good credit can
ensure that one are able to pay for just about anything. From a new car to somebody s first house, it
can make or ruin anyone. Due to the importance of good credit, students frequently take advantage of
their college years as a valuable chance to glimpse into adulthood by beginning their steps toward
increasing that score. Considering the rising costs of tuition and the steep price of textbooks, it is not
uncommon to be incapable of paying for everything immediately. That is where credit comes it.
Credit score is a simple concept. It s a number that represents how often a person pays off debts they
owe from using a credit card. A credit card (different an a debit card), does not take money from its
owner. Instead, the owner is borrowing money it. At the end of the month, people receive bills from
everywhere they owe money. If people can pay them all off, their credit score will rise as a result. On
the other hand, if they fail to pay, that number drops. Once a payment is missed, a person s credit

Gladiator by Ridly Scott Essay
Gladiator by Ridly Scott
I am going to watch the film Gladiator by Ridly Scott. I hope to accurately describe and analyse how
the director creates a feeling of tension, suspense and how overall he makes the film believable. I will
not analyse the whole film, but just two of the scenes. The two scenes I have chosen are the first scene
the battle of Germania and the last scene the death of the evil Emperor.
======================================================================
The points I am most likely to focus on are the camera angles, sound effects, music, the acting and the
shots, also I will describe how the two scenes were made to be realistic with the aid of computer
effects.
I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The emperor is very impressed with his performance and arranges to meet him. When asked to
remove his mask and helmet Maximus turns his back on the emperor, the emperor was given the
choice to kill him there and then but he declined so as to keep his popularity with the crowed.
Maximus tries to escape but the emperor captures him and challenges Maximus to a fight. The
emperor cheats in this fight by stabbing Maximus with a poison dagger before. In the end both
Maximus and the emperor die in battle.
I will now analyse the first scene in the film, the battle of Germania. In this scene Rome battles against
the barbarians of Germania. The scene and film starts with blurb that helps set the scene and draw the
viewer in to the plot of the film. The blurb fades away as harmony music fades in and we, the viewers,
are shown an extreme close up of Maximus s hand sweeping through the grass. The colour is very
bright, and the music promotes happiness in the viewers mind. This small section of the film is his
thoughts of home, the harmony music which plays has a very important role throughout the film when
ever Maximus is thinking about home to drive him self on that music is played. And the first part of
the first scene links the music with home for the viewer because it is the first thing in the film that you
hear.
Suddenly the director chooses to have a huge contrast, the

George Orwell s Animal Farm And Ariel Dorfman s...
Both George Orwell s Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman s Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share the
idea that people s ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These stories are
both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a different plot but
have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people s social and political oppression. George
Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over the Soviet Union and created a
communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used real life experiences of when Chile
was taken over by a harsh dictatorship and the people of Chile were restricted from most of their
freedoms. Both of these authors tie in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another relation that these two writers have is that they both quit or were forced out of their
government positions. Ariel Dorfman was in a government position under a socialist who was
overthrown by a dictatorship. This is unlike George Orwell, who served under the communist idea,
otherwise known as a dictatorship. Ariel Dorfman was born in Buenas Aires, Argentina in 1942 and is
still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using allegories of the
dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and have similar writing
styles in their books, Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits. You will read about
how George Orwell and Ariel Dorfman used allegories, ironies, and real life experiences to express
the lesson that people s ignorance can lead to their oppression. Both Animal Farm and The Rebellion
Of The Magical Rabbits have the idea that people s ignorance lead to their oppression. Some evidence
from Animal Farm that helps me support my thesis is when the author states,´´As Clover looked down
the hillside her eyes filled with tears. If she could have spoken her thoughts; it would have been to say
that this was not what they had aimed at when they had set themselves years ago to work for the
overthrow of the human race. These scenes of terror and slaughter were not what they had looked
forward to on that night when old Major first

Kite Runner Critical Lens
Lies, the world revolves around them. Every election the candidates tell you want they think you want
to hear, they walk around the truth. We don t want to hear their lies, we want the truth, similar to Amir
in The Kite Runner and Marius and Fantine in Les Miserables. In literature the plot of the story
revolves around the lies that characters tell, whether to make things better, or just to hide their guilty
and shame from others. Every lie makes the story more complex and when the characters learn the
truth, they are changed, and sometimes it is for the better. Monsieur Gillenormand, in Victor Hugo s
Les Miserables, takes Marius from his father because of political beliefs. Gillenormand denies Marius

Structural Vulnerabilities And Link Privacy
Structural vulnerabilities and Link Privacy in Social Networks
Introduction/Background:
In social networks, a link represents a relationship between two nodes in the network. These links can
represent email conversations, web surfing, co purchases of two or more products (e.g. Amazon),
friendships (e.g. Facebook), followers (e.g. Twitter), etc. Often times these relationships are sensitive
and/or confidential in nature [ying wu] and the users are operating under the assumption that their
private relationships will not be disclosed.
In recent years the amount of data accumulated from social networks has become very large, and there
is a lot of valuable information to gain from analyzing and applying data mining to social network
data. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Neighborhood Randomization Using Sub Graph Perturbation
In order for people to mine valuable data from social network graphs they must first be given
information about the network. Even without explicit information about the nodes, an attacker may
use structural information about the nodes and graph itself (e.g. node degree) to identify who the
individuals are that the nodes represent. Simple graph wise randomization addresses this problem by
deleting k randomly chosen edges and replacing them with k randomly chosen edges, however a
problem arises since data miners depend on these structural attributes to properly analyze the social
network. Fard and Wang [fard wang] propose a structure aware algorithm for the randomization of
social network edges as well as a formal definition of link privacy with respect to a probabilistic
threshold. Their motivation is to help conceal sensitive links by using randomization techniques,
without disturbing the actual structure of the graph, which is achieved through local neighborhood
perturbation. This is needed so that graphs can be analyzed without the link structure being left
entirely vulnerable to attackers. The goal of their algorithm is to make it so that an adversary cannot
know if a link in the original graph exists from having a link in the new graph.
Problem definition: Given a

Relativism And Moral Nihilism
As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western civilization, its
critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s sexual moral compass. As
a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with little reasoning or clear logic.
Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between wrong and right, our culture s moral
compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship commanded by drunk captain, name Moral
Relativism.
Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity s
objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the failures
of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious ancestors.
Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even biology is
incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders. The doors are
open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside. Our inclusivity is
now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism.
Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are entirely
different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are now extremely
blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other ends. Without an
objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly sinful passion. What
began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity that has no choice but to
allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual exclusivity, it loses meaning and
purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to preserve substance.
Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be rare
for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products. Its
simple supply and demand. If we have lots of something in a restrained fashion is becomes a
commodity and possess little intrinsic value. However, if an item is rare,

Essay on Spier s Travel Agency
Abstract
An organization functions from the mission statement and the organizational structure. These
functions helps to make a company move smoother within departments, which is assigned to
individuals that are responsible for overseeing that part of the organization. The organization is

from the operative goals to help the organization function accordingly. Operative goals according to

Introduction The process by which Scripture has been preserved and compiled is one whose history is

Marcion believed that the Jewish Scriptures only concerned the covenant between God and the Jews
of Israel, and therefore was no longer valid for the Christian church. In his mind, these were two very
separate Gods. When noticing that several of Paul s writings made mention of the God of Israel,
Marcion claimed that those writings were not Paul s original texts, and should be considered
counterfeit. Marcion s views of Paul s forged portions of his letters can be attributed to what many
theologians today might call the Slippery Slope Argument. In this case, Marcion chose not to trust in
the inerrancy of what God had spoken to Paul. Paul s writing s were flawed, or someone must have
tampered with them. This lack of trust in inerrancy would ultimately allow Marcion to fall down a
slippery slope , giving way to forsake other important Christian foundational truths. As his ideologies
became more widespread, it became obvious that Marcion s views on creation were radically
reinterpreted (or misinterpreted, better yet), as well as his opinions on the doctrines of incarnation and
the resurrection. Ultimately, the church at large came to the conclusion that his doctrines contradicted
several fundamental points in Christian doctrine. It forced the church to make a case for the value and
status of the Jewish scriptures it had adopted as its own, and it prompted

The Starry Night By Anne Sexton
The Starry Night Poem Analysis The Starry Night, written by Anne Sexton, makes me think about
raging fires, destruction, death, hell, and demons. The word choice in the poem is very colorful, yet
overwhelming and dark, which perplexes, yet astonishes the reader. This poem feels very depressing,
but on the contrary, active and raging with life. The sky is alive and intense, yet the town is silent and
solemn. The idea of a monstrous death is welcoming and yearned for by the speaker. The poem feels
like it is about the speaker s strong desire for a gruesome death; it feels very surreal. The black haired
tree, as depicted in Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night (the painting this poem was inspired by), is
compared to a drowned woman in the hot sky (3). Sexton then goes on to say that the night boils (4);
the usage of words centered around heat is significant because heat can also refer to turmoil, agitation,
and bustling, which from we can infer that the speaker is irritated as well as vexed. From another
perspective, we can infer that Sexton is enforcing that the sky itself is hot and boiling, implying here
that she wants to drown in boiling water, just like the woman that the tree looks like. ... Show more

Each aspect that she desires to die without are uniquely significant. She wishes to die without a flag,
which we can infer is the symbolic white flag of surrender. This means that the speaker does not want
to die at the hands of another physical person, but to something greater than her. No belly (16)
represents the lack of a reproducing body; she does not want to die and have reproduced, as this would
cause even more pain on the child s behalf. The speaker aspires to die without a cry, or a call for help.
She is fully committed to her decision to kill herself, and she will not turn

How Technology Impacts family Interaction
Researched and Written By: Rick Luebbert
Technology has had a profound effect on the modern family. This research paper will explore how
technology has a specific impact on the way families interact with each other. The technological
advances of home computers and cell phones are just a few of the things that have transformed the
way families interact and communicate with one another. Technology will continue to change the
landscape of how the modern family networks together. Technology gives us the opportunity to

Technology can have a direct impact on the social development of children.
The majority of families today have computers in the home. A lot of families have children that have
their own personal computers. Video games are more popular than ever and most children have some
sort of video game console in their home as well. Television has been in the modern family home for
many years now. It is easy to assume that nearly one hundred percent of homes in The United States
has at least one television somewhere in the house. Most families have multiple televisions throughout
the house. You can also assume that cellular telephones are owned and used by every family in The
United States.
All of these advances in applied science have the ability to enhance the human development from an
early age. All of these advances in applied sciences can also be a detriment to families interacting with
one another. These advances in technology divide families from one another. Children and parents
alike can sit and watch television for hours without saying a word to one another. Children who play
video games all afternoon instead of face to face social interaction are affected by this. They tend to
become more independent from societal interaction.

How Did The Wave Of Immigration And Italian Immigration
99 percent of today s United States population is comprised of immigrants and the descendants of
immigrants. Immigration has been shaping the United States ever since the first immigrants arrived
400 years ago in the 1600s; however, it became very prevalent during the time of 1880 to 1899, as the
first major wave of immigration fled to America. Millions of immigrants fled from all over the world
seeking economic opportunity, specifically large masses from Italy and China. The Italians helped to
build up large, successful cities like Chicago and New York while the Chinese worked to develop the
western cities in California; however, the Chinese contributions were not appreciated so many laws
and policies from the United States Congress were put in place to regulate their immigration but
Italians were welcomed into the United States with the newly opened Ellis Island. In the late 19th
century, the Chinese and Italian Immigration contributed to many of the economic, cultural, and
political processes that serve as the fundamentals to the United States today.
Between 1880 and 1899, the United States experienced both a major wave of diverse immigration and
a halt. This was a time of rapid industrialization and urbanization which attracted many immigrants.
The mass production and introduction of factories in the cities required many unskilled workers which
were perfect for immigrants. The jobs from industrialization could provide the immigrants with the

College Benefits In College
When I was in school, my mother stressed education. I am so glad she did. I graduated from Yale
College and Yale University with my master s and I didn t do it by missing school (Angela Bassett).
Everyone has their own experience in college whether good or bad. School is home to me, ever since
Middle school after I finally grasped the art of studying. In high school I thought attending either a
two year or four year college consisted of me working hard to achieve a degree that would in turn help
me land a job. Not only would I walk away with a degree to help me out when it came down to
looking for a job, but the useful and successful skills would also come in handy. But, in my freshman
year really open my eyes to see that college is so much bigger than what I originally thought. Earning
an education enables us to succeed academically, make better career choices and build self confidence
In addition, not only does attending college get you one step closer to being qualified for a career of
your dreams, but college also allows you to have fun while you work hard. Now, going to college can
be exciting because you get to meet new people who have the same interests as you. Then, you can
also explore a whole new branch of math, science, and languages. We could even take some of classes
that captures our interest and work hard towards that degree in the end which will help secure a job
after graduation. College teaches us how to juggle between different classes. My academics

The Appeal Of Pathos In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
The best novels are the ones that connects with the reader and just toys with their emotions, as if they
too were also in the story by using pathos, the most powerful appeal. This holds true with Truman
Capote s, In Cold Blood and his writing appealing to the reader s emotions in the portrayal of Perry
Edward Smith and Richard Dick Eugene Hickock, the two murders with an addition of Capote
showing a great deal of favoritism to Perry over Dick. Throughout the novel, Capote uses tone and
diction to allure the reader into the novel s world and into every character s life, just as if we knew
their whole backstory. We see two heartless, cold blooded killers that slain the innocent family of the
Clutters with the intent to leave no witnesses and to rob them of their hard earned money but Capote
deceives the reader s emotions throughout the entirety of the book to humanize straight killers and
make them likable. We often see a murderer as a psychopath without any emotion but it is hard to
label Smith and Hickock one because Capote brings the reader into their lives in a way that we would
feel sorry and have pity for them. Capote makes the reader relate to Smith and Hickock by describing
their families and showing insight into the killers dreams and aspirations so we could perceive them as
people and forget that they ended the future of the Clutters. Perry was a lonely child growing up and
had a drunkard mother that forced him into foster care where he was abused and bullied

The Mass Media s Representation Of Campaign Discourse
It is the chaotic month of November, and the fate of America lies in one candidate s hands. With the
election coming to its scandalous end, the country has been a tremendous user of television, internet,
newspaper, and radio. Presidential nominee, Donald Trump has not hesitated in releasing numerous
shocking statements, and the reporters have not resisted their urge of publishing his words.
Nevertheless, it is evident that, By decreasing the effort necessary for journalists to gather
information, politicians can garner substantially more media attention for themselves (Niven). But, as
one inspects the features of all mass media closely, a pattern of specific contents and people constantly
being under the radar can be noticed. The boundless attention from viewers, reporters and advertisers
bring fame, and support to candidates, whether it being for negative or positive purposes. While
covering every aspect of candidates, The mass media s representation of campaign discourse
influences whether voters have the opportunity to scrutinize the candidates issue priorities and policy
proposals (Hayes). High ratings, biased opinions, exaggerated news, and politically incorrect
expressions are usually the type of contents drawing the society to itself. Similarly, due to his erratic
and unexpected behavior, Trump has gained vast news coverage, risen to fame through social media,
and gotten both honored and dishonored simultaneously throughout his candidacy.

How Does Madeleine L Engle Use Symbols In A Wrinkle In Time
A Wrinkle in Time lives on to be a timeless classic suspense novel for young adults today. Although
school curriculums berate it for L Engle s afflictions with Christian theology; which are especially
prominent in this novel, her emotional family values, and ethical responsibilities stand out for a bigger
impact on the reader. Madeleine L Engle writes with a style that makes the reader ponder her use
behind objects, characters, and dialogue. Her subjective symbolism puts a more meaningful reason to

The spectacles symbolize a way of understanding and perceiving the world without instinctual

taken over by the control of IT, but Meg can still read the decency behind his evil behavior. Although
his actions are not at all like his normality, his blue eyes, which retained normality, symbolize
goodness and hope and let her know he is still there. L Engle uses emotional feelings throughout the
characters, not only to portray compassion for the them, but also to symbolize deeper meaning. Meg s
love to save her family has more meaning to it than her willingness. Her love differs immensely with
the emotion of IT s hate. Every time she feels hate towards IT or others such as her father, she
becomes weaker. It is her hatred that allows IT to take over her mind. She finds out the ability to love
against the forces of hate, allows her to succeed and defeat IT. When the family reunites in the end, it
is a reminder of the strong forces love has on us that L Engle believes can strengthen and congregate
society. Meg also is disturbed by the way people are controlled on the planet of Comazotz. She notices

Wedding Crashers By David Dobkin
If you re a fan of romantic comedy films then Wedding Crashers might just be the film for you!
Wedding Crashers is a popular film from 2005 directed by David Dobkin. The top stars in Wedding
Crashers include Owen Wilson as John Beckwith, Vince Vaughn as Jeremy Grey, and Rachel
McAdams as Claire. The movie begins as the main characters (John and Vince) who are divorce
mediators in Washington D.C. go to crash a wedding held for the U.S. Secretary of Treasury s
daughter. While at the wedding Jeremey ends up finding another sister of the bride, Gloria Cleary and
ends up hooking up with her at the wedding. While Jeremey is occupied with Gloria, John also finds
himself another girl, Claire who has a boyfriend.

John and Jeremy get invited to the Cleary s mansion after crashing the wedding and end up staying the
night. At a point during the night, Kathleen Cleary, the wife of William Cleary, seduces John, making
him grasp her breast. The second affair occurs that same night when Gloria s brother, Todd enters
Jeremy s room and jumps on top of him and asks him to play tummy sticks. The plot twists in the
movie can also be seen when the wedding crashers get exposed by Sack and their real identities are
shown to the Clearys. After being exposed to the Clearys, John and Jeremy were told to leave by the
William Cleary. Jeremy would secretly continue his relationship with Gloria while John would go on a
downward spiral of depression. Wedding Crashers does not have a lot of history in the movie due to it
being a strong comedic film with a hint of romance in it but it does reflect human nature. Throughout
the film, people are generally happy such as weddings and affairs, but even with happiness comes
downfalls such as when John and Jeremy get exposed and have to leave the Clearys or when John
crashes a funeral.
Wedding Crashers lacks in the intelligence value as well as the director s craft value. The main focus
of the movie is crashing a wedding so for special effects there isn t a lot you can do. The only
pyrotechnics in the movie is when the men all go hunting and there is gun shots and the gun shots hit a
mannequin or stunt double and rip holes in the pants. The movie in

Comparing and Contrasting the Methods of Sufragettes and Suffragists
The suffragists were different from the suffragettes because the suffragists used moderate and peaceful
methods to get through their argument but the suffragettes thought that the suffragists idea was
working too slowly so they wanted to be completely opposite to them so they used militant methods.
The suffragettes believed in Deeds Not Words and especially when they knew that the Liberal
Government was not going to introduce reforms, so they turned to militant methods. The suffragettes
restricted membership of WSPU to women and to men, which meant men were not allowed to join. To

peaceful methods and the other group approached more directly and liked using militant methods.
The suffragists had many problems of trying to get the vote and people in the group were not happy
with violence, which was getting them nowhere so Emmeline and Frederick Pethick Lawerence left
the WSPU, which led to a split of the WSPU, and they began to work on their own for votes for
women. They both believed that more violence would not achieve nothing and soon Sylvia Pankhurst
started to drift away and started to help the poor of in the East End of London. As it got worse
Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst was left in charge.
The difference between the two groups tactics Is that the suffragists ran meetings in almost all
constituencies in the run up to the General Election, they held their own first ever procession, they
lead a deputation to see the prime minister, their leader also held a public debate with her opponents
and also raises a petition of 280,000 signatures and done many more jobs to help them to get the vote
but the suffragettes were and used tactics like heckling at meetings, start attacking properties, such as
breaking windows, etc also carry out arson, bombing sabotage in many areas of Britain which showed

In adolescent Suicide deaths are more prevalent than homicide deaths (CDC, 2012). According to the National Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Web based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS), suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents age 13 to 17 (CDC, 2016). That number surpasses the number of deaths due to chronic diseases such as cancer, HIV, and diabetes. While this is a significant number, not all suicide attempts are reported (Joiner, 2005). Shneidman s theory of psychache argues suicide is caused by a certain kind of psychological pain. Risk factors increases psychache which leads an individual to suicidality (Shneidman, 1993). The pain is so unbearable to an individual that the only way to relieve it is suicide. Baumeister s escape theory of suicide believes certain steps promotes suicide, 1) individuals perception of expectations and actual events are more negative, 2) an aversive self awareness develops, (individual focuses on negative aspects of them self and become depressed) 3) in an attempt to escape the effects from the first two steps an individual goes into a state of cognitive deconstruction (.Baumeister, 1990) This reduces inhibition which leads to a lack of impulse control. These theories focus more on the emotional and psychological aspect of suicide. They seem to identify what causes the suicide ideation. However, it does not explain how one goes from emotion to action. Just because someone has thought about suicide, does not mean they will attempt suicide, they need to have the acquired capability (lack of fear of dying) in order to attempt suicide (Joiner, 2005, Van Orden et al.,). Suicide is a very difficult act, it requires you to go against the self preservation you have been programmed with (Ohman Mineka, 2001). George, Page, Hooke, Stritzke, (2016) tested the ... (Hull J C, 1997)Generally, a foreign exchange settlement contract will be signed by banks and their customers, which stipulates the type of foreign currency to be used, the sum, the exchange rates and duration. On the due date when income or expenditure of foreign exchange occurs, currency exchange settlement will be operated in accordance with the contract. In order to improve efficiency, it s necessary to adjust the hedging when using forward contracts. I was and I still am a single mother of three boys, Tunji (my oldest), Jaylon and Jaleel (my twins). This has and is a fulltime job, but I am not going to speak about the present, only my past life of raising my three sons. I have always worked but there was a time that I had to stop working in order to focus on my twins. I knew from the age of 1 year old, something just wasn t quite right with their behavior and cognitive development was lacking in a lot of areas. For example; not talking, just babbling and pointing at objects, loud noises caused them to shut down and cover their ears, lining up objects and any little disturbance in their routine caused them to have a tantrum or screaming fit. It was so hard trying to get answers from doctors, their favorite thing to say to me was it s a twin thing they will grow out of it. This was the beginning of a long hard road. The three most enjoyable things that I liked about this job is: Investigating, finding out what was wrong with my sons? Why are they behaving in this manner? I was relentless in finding out and I didn t stop until I received all the right answers. I finally started getting answers, first I found out that they had a sleeping disorder, so they was put on sleeping pills, my thought was YES, I will know get sleep! • 6. Service Line Management Service Line Management Task 1 In order for a company to continue to grow and expand, it must have a need for additional services and customer satisfaction. To focus on patient care, one must engage in property development. There are multiple ways this can be accomplished. To begin, this writer will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of building, buying, or leasing property to establish a new orthopedic service line. First, the concept of building a Physical Therapy center should be considered. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) stated in the email, the cost of construction is $120 per square foot for 5,000 square feet. This would total $600,000 to build on hospital property. The advantage to this would be that the hospital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this option is the most costly, other factors have to be considered. In comparison to building the site, this option is $100,000 more, but saves space on campus. It can be sold if needed, whereas a newly constructed property on campus could not. The hospital would have to find a use for the space. In comparison to leasing the building, if the hospital needed to expand or get out of the lease, that normally does not happen. A contract is normally signed with a lease and the signee is responsible to uphold the contract. The hospital could be stuck in that situation. By purchasing this building, the hospital could also be able to start the PT program sooner than expected. The hospital would not be waiting on construction which could possibly take a long period of time. During the time the hospital would be waiting for construction to complete, they can be earning revenue by purchasing the already constructed building and lot. They would have an immediate revenue which could generate the capital reserve the CFO needs to keep intact. A new service line could greatly improve the revenue of the hospital. Buying and starting the program sooner is the best option for the needs of the facility. A PT program by the hospital will also make patients happy. Happy patients means return customers. One such example of unfair terms is when a term that allows one party (but not the other) to vary the terms of the contract after it has been agreed to (ACL s 25(1)(d)). In order to void the term under the Act (ACL s 23 (1)), two main requirements must be satisfied: 1. The term must be unfair and 2. • 8. The Catcher In The Rye Analysis In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger tells the story of a teenage boy, Holden Caulfield, who has just been expelled for failing four out of his five classes, from his third boarding school, Pencey Prep. Holden, a sixteen year old junior in high school, is transitioning from being a child to becoming an adult. However, he is struggling to grow up, mostly because of his very negative and cynical view towards adults and growing up, and seems emotionally stuck in childhood, unable to develop into a young man. Throughout the book, Holden mentions quite a few times that his secret goal in life is to be the catcher in the rye , meaning that he wants to catch children before they fall off the cliff of innocence and childhood into adulthood. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger uses this metaphor, being the savior of childhood innocence , as a symbol throughout the novel to represent the hardship and painfulness of growing up. Indeed, Holden tells his little sister, Phoebe, that all he wants to be in life is the catcher in the rye : That s all I d do all day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it s crazy, but that s the only thing I d really like to be. I know it s crazy (225). In this metaphor, he envisions children playing in a field of rye, full of joy and innocence. This field is located on a very dangerous cliff, and if a child were to come too close to the edge of the cliff, Holden would be there to catch and save them, from falling from ... • 9. Definition And Diagnostic Criteria Of Dd In this paragraph I will describe the definition and diagnostic criteria of PTSD. What is trauma? According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). It is direct personal experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other threat to one s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the physical integrity of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or violent death, serious harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other close associate. Current studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to more trauma than average Americans. PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of PTSD may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as human nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current diagnostic classification systems. The PTSD diagnosis first appeared in DSM III in 1980. Prior to 1980, PTSD was not recognized as a mental illness. The change came largely due to efforts of Vietnam Veteran supporters. ... • 11. The Replacement Of A Single Tooth Introduction: The replacement of a single tooth lost due to dental caries or trauma can be challenging for a clinician. Traditionally several options are indicated in order to restore the edentulous space including implant/crown, fixed partial dentures (FPD) or removable partial denture (RPD). However economic factors, occlusal disturbances, lack of adequate bone support or excessive removal of healthy dental structure are some of the limiting factors in the traditional treatment modalities. One approach that is overlooked and may serve as a good treatment modality is the Fiber Reinforced Composite Bridge (FRCB). FRCBs are minimally invasive and economic treatment modalities that can be utilized to replace of a missing tooth and restore an edentulous space. The ideal site for a conservative FRCB is an edentulous space spanning one to two teeth. Other considerations include occlusion or the bite relation, periodontal status, oral hygiene, and the status of abutment teeth. It should be noted that this modality of treatment is the not the most ideal modaility of treatment however, it does provide an alternative approach if the ideal modality (Implant/Crown, FPD, RPD) is not accepted or acceptable. Patient accepting this treatment modality should be aware that there is a risk of aspiration. Goethe is considered the supreme genius of modern German literature. Although he was alive so long ago, the ideas he put out there are still pertinent to the modern world. Goethe s quote is a universal truth and his philosophy is even proven. Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. These aspects include the time period of what Goethe set the play and the time he wrote the play, the setting gives a greater portrait of the conflicts that arise, and the plot gives the enhancement of right and wrong. The characters, for instance, has the natural antagonist, the Devil (qtd. In Bierhorst, 2010). In different religions, the Devil has many different names, such as Lucifer, Satan, The Wicked One, or The Arch Fiend. Due to Goethe s natural culture as a German, he naturally names the Devil as Mephistopheles, or in short, Mephisto. Mephisto is the antagonist in the poem because he tries to move Faust in the direction of evil and temptation. As the antagonist, he eventually is defeated by an element he is unaware of, love. Mephisto creates his own doom, by presenting Faust a woman that he will eventually love. Mephisto tried to tempt Faust into lust because he wanted Faust to surrender his soul to him. So in order for Mephisto to succeed in his goals, he was supposed to meet all of Faust s desires. Unfortunately, the one desire Faust wanted, backfires on Mephisto s plan. The next character in Faust is Faust himself. He is naturally the protagonist in the short poem. Faust is a known physician in his town and learned as many traits as he could. Unfortunately, his human desire of greed had consumed his mindset. Even though he accomplished all that he wanted, he eventually turned to evil or magic and made a pact with the devil. From a new car to somebody s first house, it can make or ruin anyone. Due to the importance of good credit, students frequently take advantage of their college years as a valuable chance to glimpse into adulthood by beginning their steps toward increasing that score. In the end both Maximus and the emperor die in battle. I will now analyse the first scene in the film, the battle of Germania. In this scene Rome battles against the barbarians of Germania. The scene and film starts with blurb that helps set the scene and draw the viewer in to the plot of the film. The blurb fades away as harmony music fades in and we, the viewers, are shown an extreme close up of Maximus s hand sweeping through the grass. The colour is very bright, and the music promotes happiness in the viewers mind. This small section of the film is his thoughts of home, the harmony music which plays has a very important role throughout the film when ever Maximus is thinking about home to drive him self on that music is played. And the first part of the first scene links the music with home for the viewer because it is the first thing in the film that you hear. Suddenly the director chooses to have a huge contrast, the ... Both George Orwell s Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman s Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share the idea that people s ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These stories are both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a different plot but have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people s social and political oppression. George Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over the Soviet Union and created a communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used real life experiences of when Chile was taken over by a harsh dictatorship and the people of Chile were restricted from most of their freedoms. Structural Vulnerabilities And Link Privacy Structural vulnerabilities and Link Privacy in Social Networks Introduction/Background: In social networks, a link represents a relationship between two nodes in the network. These links can represent email conversations, web surfing, co purchases of two or more products (e.g. Amazon), friendships (e.g. Facebook), followers (e.g. Twitter), etc. Often times these relationships are sensitive and/or confidential in nature [ying wu] and the users are operating under the assumption that their private relationships will not be disclosed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results: Neighborhood Randomization Using Sub Graph Perturbation In order for people to mine valuable data from social network graphs they must first be given information about the network. Even without explicit information about the nodes, an attacker may use structural information about the nodes and graph itself (e.g. node degree) to identify who the individuals are that the nodes represent. Simple graph wise randomization addresses this problem by deleting k randomly chosen edges and replacing them with k randomly chosen edges, however a problem arises since data miners depend on these structural attributes to properly analyze the social network. Fard and Wang [fard wang] propose a structure aware algorithm for the randomization of social network edges as well as a formal definition of link privacy with respect to a probabilistic threshold. Their motivation is to help conceal sensitive links by using randomization techniques, without disturbing the actual structure of the graph, which is achieved through local neighborhood perturbation. This is needed so that graphs can be analyzed without the link structure being left entirely vulnerable to attackers. The goal of their algorithm is to make it so that an adversary cannot know if a link in the original graph exists from having a link in the new graph. Problem definition: Given a ... Relativism And Moral Nihilism As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western civilization, its critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s sexual moral compass. As a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with little reasoning or clear logic. Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between wrong and right, our culture s moral compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship commanded by drunk captain, name Moral Relativism. Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity s objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the failures of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious ancestors. Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even biology is incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders. The doors are open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside. Our inclusivity is now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism. Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are entirely different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are now extremely blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other ends. Without an objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly sinful passion. What began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity that has no choice but to allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual exclusivity, it loses meaning and purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to preserve substance. Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be rare for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marcion believed that the Jewish Scriptures only concerned the covenant between God and the Jews of Israel, and therefore was no longer valid for the Christian church. In his mind, these were two very separate Gods. When noticing that several of Paul s writings made mention of the God of Israel, Marcion claimed that those writings were not Paul s original texts, and should be considered counterfeit. Marcion s views of Paul s forged portions of his letters can be attributed to what many theologians today might call the Slippery Slope Argument. In this case, Marcion chose not to trust in the inerrancy of what God had spoken to Paul. Paul s writing s were flawed, or someone must have tampered with them. This lack of trust in inerrancy would ultimately allow Marcion to fall down a slippery slope , giving way to forsake other important Christian foundational truths. As his ideologies became more widespread, it became obvious that Marcion s views on creation were radically reinterpreted (or misinterpreted, better yet), as well as his opinions on the doctrines of incarnation and the resurrection. Ultimately, the church at large came to the conclusion that his doctrines contradicted several fundamental points in Christian doctrine. It forced the church to make a case for the value and status of the Jewish scriptures it had adopted as its own, and it prompted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The Starry Night By Anne Sexton The Starry Night Poem Analysis The Starry Night, written by Anne Sexton, makes me think about raging fires, destruction, death, hell, and demons. The word choice in the poem is very colorful, yet overwhelming and dark, which perplexes, yet astonishes the reader. This poem feels very depressing, but on the contrary, active and raging with life. The sky is alive and intense, yet the town is silent and solemn. The idea of a monstrous death is welcoming and yearned for by the speaker. The poem feels like it is about the speaker s strong desire for a gruesome death; it feels very surreal. The black haired tree, as depicted in Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night (the painting this poem was inspired by), is compared to a drowned woman in the hot sky (3). Sexton then goes on to say that the night boils (4); the usage of words centered around heat is significant because heat can also refer to turmoil, agitation, and bustling, which from we can infer that the speaker is irritated as well as vexed. From another perspective, we can infer that Sexton is enforcing that the sky itself is hot and boiling, implying here that she wants to drown in boiling water, just like the woman that the tree looks like. ... Immigration has been shaping the United States ever since the first immigrants arrived 400 years ago in the 1600s; however, it became very prevalent during the time of 1880 to 1899, as the first major wave of immigration fled to America. Millions of immigrants fled from all over the world seeking economic opportunity, specifically large masses from Italy and China. This holds true with Truman Capote s, In Cold Blood and his writing appealing to the reader s emotions in the portrayal of Perry Edward Smith and Richard Dick Eugene Hickock, the two murders with an addition of Capote showing a great deal of favoritism to Perry over Dick.
