Financial Forecasting
Time Series Models for Forecasting New One Family Houses Sold in the United States
Introduction
The economic recession felt in the United States since the collapse of the housing market in 2007 can
be seen by various trends in the housing market. This collapse claimed some of the largest financial
institutions in the U.S. such as Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers, as they held over leveraged
positions in the mortgage backed securities market. Credit became widely available to unqualified
borrowers during the nineties and the early part of the next decade which caused bankers to act
predatorily in their lending practices, as they could easily sell and package subprime mortgage loans
on leverage. This act caused a bubble that would later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

12 period plot of autocorrelation functions (ACF) for NHS
Now that we have verified the presense of a trend in the data we will look to verify the seasonality we
saw earlier represented by regularly reoccurring fluctuations in the levels of data in accordance with
the calendar seasons. To do this we will use an autocorrelation function for the first differenced new
home sales data. We will use a larger sample, in this case 24 months, so that we can see the regularly
reoccurring fluctuations from one year to the next. When we look at the graph in Figure 3 we notice
great increases with lag 12 and lag 24. The jumps seen in lags 12 and 24 confirms the presense of
seasonality as they are above the upper limit representing statistical significance.

Time Series and Regression Models for New One Family Houses Sold
Since the NHS data has been shown to have trend and seasonality we will evaluate the data using four
different time series models and compare the results of each to see which model is the most accurate.
The models we are going to use are the Modified Naïve model, Winters Exponential Smoothing
model, Time Series Decomposition, and Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA).
We will also test a multiple regression model to attempt to forecast future NHS, while taking

Health Disparities And Health Care
Health disparities are present in our health care system. Whether it be racial, educational, or
environmental, these disparities exist and are detrimental to health care outcomes. While there have
been recent advancements in how to eliminate or reduce these disparities, there is still a major inequity
in health care for all individuals.
This paper will include definitions of health equity and health inequity, steps to reduce health inequity,
and two important decisions used to decrease in health inequity and why this reduction in health
inequity occurs. It will also include further discussion on certain steps and decisions used to decrease
health inequity.
Defining Health Equity and Inequity
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), health equity is achieved when every person has
the opportunity to attain his or her full health potential and no one is disadvantaged from achieving
this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances (U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services, 2015). Satcher (2010) reports that health inequities are systematic,
avoidable, and unjust disparities (p. 6). He also states that the World Health Organization (WHO)
concluded that social conditions are the most important determinant of a person s health. Social
conditions determine access to health services and influence lifestyle choices (Satcher, 2010, p. 6).
These determinants must be addressed in order to reduce health inequity. Inequity can be

Design Of Maximum Power Point Tracker With Mechanical System
ABSTRACT
The present report describes the different modules involved in the design of a maximum power point
tracker with mechanical system (MPPT). The system uses four light dependent resistances (LRD) to
measure the light intensity on the four sides of a solar panel then, using two steppers motor, rotates the
panel in the direction of the LRD which measures the maximum light intensity. The power output
from the panel is used to charge a twelves Volts battery through a DC DC buck converter.

Essay On Firewall Security
FIREWALL SECURITY This reports looks at what a firewall is, and how it works. It also looks at
what security risks can be stopped by a firewall in a computer system. Most people think that a
firewall is where all data traffic on the internet has to go through between networks, as shown in
Figure 1.1 [pic] What is a firewall? In network security, firewall is considered a first line of defense in
protecting private information. A firewall sits at the junction point, or gateway, between the two
networks, which are often a private network and a public network such as the Internet. (John V.
Harrison, Hal Berghel, 2004, A Protocol Layer Survey of Network Security). It is a system designed to
prevent certain access to or from another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the firewall is to monitor the connection state. It then decides whether to permit or
deny the data traffic. If the data passed is not matched to the state of conversation, or if the data is not
in the state table, then this data is dropped. This is called stateful inspection . Access authentication
provided by firewalls For authentication, firewalls use different types of mechanisms. 1 Firewalls use
usernames and passwords. When a connection receives authentication and authorisation once, then the
user is not asked this information again. 2 Certificates and public keys are also used for authorisation
and authentication. 3 Authentication can be handled through pre shared keys. These are better than
certificates as they are less complex and easier to implement. The time it takes to authenticate is the
same whether it is a certificate or a pre shared key. A pre shared host is issued with a predetermination
key which is used for authentication. There is only one problem with a pre shared key: that it rarely
changes. There are many organisations that use the same key to manage multiple remote hosts. This
could be a security threat for the organisation. If a host firewall is not successful in its authentication,
then the packet will be dropped. Role of a firewall as intercessor A firewall can act as an intercessor to
help with the communication process between two hosts. This process is known as Proxy and

My Story About My Daughter
So I have come here to tell you guys about my daughter and request some assistance from you, I
guess. Last night sort of shook me a little bit and I am at a loss mentally about what to do. I have an 8
year old daughter, Amber, who shares a multitude of personality traits in common with me. One of my
favorites is the use of wanton sarcasm pretty much 100% of the time. I keep telling my wife, Jennifer,
that it s a sign of intelligence; she ll just roll her eyes and reminds me that she constantly has to
explain the process of moving shit in the fridge to find other shit to the both of us. I guess that means
we aren t all that smart. However, like I said, I didn t come here to gush over my love for my daughter.
Yesterday morning pretty much started how it usually does with me struggling to get my wife and
daughter up and ready for work and school respectively. My wife is more of an uphill struggle than
Amber is most of the time. It really only gets bad if she doesn t get a restful sleep. This day was
apparently one of those days indicated by the three trips I made into her bedroom to annoy the shit out
of her until she woke up. The more I tried to probe into why she was so tired she met it with a
significant amount more resistance. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, so I dropped it. We had
plans to go to a fair in central Ohio that I had been excited for all year. It was two hours away from
our house but I hadn t been in so long that the drive seemed worth it.

Example Of Rhetorical Hyperbole
What happens when one abuses their given basic constitutional rights to the extreme? When observing
the recent actions of NGO giant Greenpeace, this question comes in as a determinant. The largest
forestry enterprise, Resolute Forest Products is indicting Greenpeace of slanderous behaviour as well
as the fabrication of photos, and falsifying evidence. In response to their lawsuit, Greenpeace states
they did not lie but at the time they were engaging in rhetorical hyperbole . According to their words
in a court gesture, their statements about forest destruction dealt by Resolute can be describing
figurative, rather than literal destruction. In other words, they are utilizing the defence of free speech.
This isn t the first incident to occur from Greenpeace, as well as from other NGOs. What these NGOs
don t comprehend is whenever they apply the method of using exaggerated facts to reel in donations,
it s dealing a lot more damage than they realize. Consider the following, if the rhetorical hyperbole
defence is valid; this spells out the legal precedent for years to come, creating massive negative
impacts on company and people relations. Therefore, exaggerated truths used by NGOs should be
made illegal.
Concerning the negative impacts that can stem from using exaggerated truths, misinformation can
wrongly put a bad light on the company and the public. Before the lawsuit, Before the lawsuit,
Greenpeace has been vigorously petitioning Resolute s patrons to embargo its

Ankle Sprains
Introduction
Ankle sprain injuries are most common in team sports that include contact, jumping, sharp cutting
manoeuvres and running, such as football, volleyball, handball and basketball (Fong et al and Thacker
et al). Pefanis et al found that 10% to 30% of the injuries recorded in football, basketball and
volleyball are ankle sprains.
According to physioroom.com, ankle sprain is the 2nd most common injury footballer players suffer
from. Woods et al found that over two seasons in the English football leagues, 11% of the injuries
recorded were ankle sprains, and 77% of these involved the lateral ligament complex. They also found
that defenders (35%) and midfielders (31%) were the playing positions affected the most. In a UEFA
injury study, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ankle sprains usually occur in professional football as a result from a tackle, making sharp cutting
edge movements, or landing awkwardly after jumping. The most common type of ankle sprain is to
the lateral ligaments (anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligaments) after
inversion plantar flexion and internal rotation of the ankle (85% of all reported ankle injuries).
At the time of the injury the athlete would feel pain on the lateral side of his ankle, and the ankle
would show signs of swelling and bruising (the swelling might start on impact, but it could also take a
few hours depending on the severity of the injury). A snap or tear sound may be heard, but it is not of
diagnostic significance (Tropp et al, Garrick, aofas.org, Khan and Bruker, nsmi.org and Yeung et al).
The ankle sprain could be person related, like when the individual perform poorly executed tackles or
cutting manoeuvres to cause the inversion of the ankle. The injury could also be a result of
environmental risk factors, like the condition/irregularity of the pitch/field, position the athlete plays
in, and foul play (Willems et al and

The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand
A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to
experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in
unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high
permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow
parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity contrast,
confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and propagation will
enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) curves.
Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and water to
prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from 500 1500 psi,
0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate wormhole
propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range of 0.1 to 10
ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of piston to 2 x 4
synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. The differential pressure across
the core is monitored throughout the process. LabVIEW is used for data acquisition, instrument
control, measurement analysis and data presentation.

Technology In Canada
According to the Globe and Mail, as of 2013, 23% of Canadian Companies offered employees the
option to telecommute. A Statistics Canada study stated that in 2000, 1,425,700 respondents worked
from home, where as in 2008 the number of people working from home was 1,748,600, a small but
notable upward trend. Though numbers are only increasing slowly, more and more Canadians are
working from home. The trend is particularly impacting university graduates, of who more than 1 in 5
work from home. Factors that have contributed to this trend include an increase in the type and
availability of technology, the desire of today s workers to have a better work life balance, and the
desire of companies to attract employees. In today s work technology is increasing at a rapid pace, and
much of it is more accessible than before. An example that has been changed by both of these factors
is the internet. When first introduced to homes and businesses, use of the internet required it to be

Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Essay
Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument
Descartes s fifth Meditation argument for God s existence relies on an untenable notion that existence
is a perfection and that it can be predicated of God. I shall first explain what Descartes s argument for
God s existence is, and then present his argument in propositional form. I will then attempt to support
the argument that existence is neither a perfection nor a predicate of God.
In our thoughts we apprehend ideas of things. These ideas may reside entirely within our thoughts or
they may exist independent of our considerations of them (Descartes 143). Descartes argues that the
idea of God is that He is infinite substance [eternal, immutable], independent, all knowing, ... Show

Existence, therefore, should more properly be thought of as a prerequisite for perfection and not a
perfection in and of itself. Descartes disagrees however, and in his reply to Gassendi he argues that
existence is necessarily predicated of God because existence is a part of the true essence of any perfect
being (Plantinga 49). For Descartes, it is not possible for us to possess the idea of a most perfect being
if this being lacks the most important characteristic of existence. If God did not exist then He would
not be the most perfect being, but we clearly have the idea of the most perfect being so therefore He
must exist. The problem with this notion, however, is that Descartes begs the question by building into
premise (2) the concept of a perfect being which has yet to be demonstrated. In order to demonstrate
God s existence, Descartes should not assume, or presuppose, that which he is attempting to conclude.
But by predicating the existence of God in (2) he has already concluded that which is later restated in
the conclusion. In effect, the follower of Descartes s argument is tricked, for if he or she agrees with
the foundational premises for the sake of the argument (that existence is predicated of a most perfect
being), then there is no choice left but to conclude that God exists.
Further, predicating the existence of a most perfect being based upon the attributes that this being is
believed to possess fails to provide existence to

The Concept Of Intrinsic Motivation Theory
In addition to Maslow s self actualization and moreover, there is self determination theory (SDT),
which suggests that people are motivated to grow and change by innate psychological needs. The
theory identifies three key psychological needs that are believed to be both innate and universal: the
needs for competence, connectedness and autonomy. The concept of intrinsic motivation plays an
important role in self determination theory. Psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan developed
SDT and determined motivation to be that which people tend to be driven by; a need to grow and gain
fulfillment. The first consideration of self determination theory is that people are actively directed
toward growth, mastering challenges, and taking on new experiences, which are essential for
developing a cohesive sense of self. Explained further by Deci and Ryan (2002), SDT begins by
embracing the assumption that all individuals have natural, innate, and constructive tendencies to
develop an ever more elaborated and unified sense of self. That is, we assume people have a primary
propensity to forge interconnections among aspects of their own psyches as well as with other
individuals and groups in their social worlds.
SDT embodies a wide ranging outline for human motivation and personality. SDT articulates a meta
theory for framing motivational studies, a formal theory that defines intrinsic and a variety of extrinsic
motivations. Furthermore, SDT also focuses on how social and

Freshly fallen ash particles can have acid coatings which may cause irritation to the lungs and eyes.
This acid coating is rapidly removed by rain, which may then pollute local water supplies. Acidic ash
can also damage vegetation, leading to crop failure. People can be more fearful of the health hazards
of volcanic ash and gases than of the risk of dying from more major hazards, such as pyroclastic
flows. However, ashfalls can affect very wide areas around volcanoes and may cause major disruption
to normal living.Medical services can expect an increase in the number of patients with respiratory
and eye symptoms during and after an ashfall event. Effects of ash on health may be divided into
several categories: respiratory effects, eye symptoms, and skin irritation. In some eruptions, ash
particles can be so fine that they are breathed deep into the lungs. With high exposure, even healthy
individuals will experience chest discomfort with increased coughing and irritation. In rare
circumstances, long term exposure to fine volcanic ash may lead to serious lung diseases. For these
diseases to occur, the ash must be very fine, contain crystalline silica (for the disease silicosis to
occur) and the people must be exposed to the ash in high concentrations over many years. Exposure to
crystalline silica in volcanic ash is typically of short duration (days to weeks), and studies suggest that
the recommended exposure limits (similar in most countries) can be exceeded for short periods of time
for the general population. People suffering from asthma or other lung problems such as bronchitis
and emphysema, and severe heart problems are most at risk. The development of respiratory
symptoms from the inhalation of volcanic ash depends on a number of factors. These include the
concentration of particles in the air, the proportion of fine particles in the ash, the frequency and
duration of exposure, the

Black Bears
The black bear is the smallest North American bear. The adults are usually less than six feet long and
stand about two to three feet tall at shoulders. The weight of a black bear varies between 125 500

the officer will be able to if it is the same bear when another black bear is caught and has a tag. The

The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms
The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms
Human activities add another layer of complexity to the natural processes of coastal lands and
materials. These activities may have direct or indirect effects on our changing coastlines. They may
effect sources of new sediment to the coast and the movement of sediment within the coastal
environment.
Sediment starvation caused by river and coastal management is one effect of human activities on the

rivers. Dams built for flood control and water catchment along the rivers leading to these coasts inhibit

of these dunes which has meant that Management programs have had to been introduced by English
Nature.
Sand dunes help absorb the pounding of high waves and reduce overwash flooding in storms. It has
become common for sand dunes to be bulldozed to improve the views to the sea. However this
destroys the natural protection of the coast.
Human activities such as water transport also can cause problems for coastal areas. The dredging of
navigation channels and the discharging of the material in deep water to enable larger ships to travel
though water channels removes sediment from the coastal system leaving the area susceptible to
erosion and will also interfere with longshore drift which will prevent the coastal beach landforms
from being maintained such as the development of a spit. It is likely that a spit will be eroded and start
to regress in conditions such as these. An example is Spurn head Spit. Spurn head is lcated, on the
humber Estuary in North East England. The growth

The Stigma Of Bipolar Disorder Essay
Cory Murphy Composition 101 Professor Tanya Vanderlinde 11 Dec. 2016 Eliminate the Stigma
When a seventh grader at Frederick Area High School in Frederick, South Dakota, was asked to
describe what bipolar disorder is, he said that it refers to people that change personalities fast
(McGaugh). However, this is only a common misconception. Though the word bipolar is often used in
conversations to describe a person that has mood swings, bipolar disorder actually refers to a serious
mental illness. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, about 2.6 percent of
American adults suffer from a form of bipolar disorder, and about one in five people with bipolar
disorder commits suicide. Despite the impact that bipolar disorder has on the lives of patients and
families alike, it is treated casually by people across the United States. Even though many treat it
flippantly, bipolar disorder is a serious mental ailment, and the public needs to have a greater
understanding of it. There is a dark stigma surrounding mental illness in general, and bipolar disorder
is no exception. According to the Mental Health Commission of Western Australia, a stigma is a mark
of disgrace that sets someone apart. Bipolar disorder is incredibly misunderstood by society at large,
which leads to this stigma, prejudice, and discrimination. In everyday conversation, the word bipolar
is frequently used to describe how someone is feeling at that moment. If a person is sad one moment

health and veterinary workers in undertaking the Coliplate tests was also considered as a success of
the field activities; on farm water sources for drinking were sampled and tested on by the 20 trained

The challenge relating to the custom procedures for the importation of water testing was also due to
the unclear of administrative procedures. The field investigator wanted to import the water testing
without paying import tax as the water tests were not for profit. However, in order to be exempted
from import tax, it requires a formal signed agreement between a local origination and a foreign
organisation indicating that these tests are not for profit, the approvals at ministerial level on the
formal signed agreement. Because a formal signed agreement and a ministerial approval are not
available for the field research, the importation of the Coliplate tests is not exempted from importation
tax. The field investigator decided to pay tax to import the water tests in time for the implementation
of the field activities, and explore ways to pursue tax claim later on. The local partner has helped the
field investigator to contact with Ministry of Finance for claiming the import tax return of the water
tests. However, it was replied that there is insufficient documents to prove that the field investigator is
eligible to claim import tax for the water tests.

Maleficent Theme
In the movie Maleficent, the audience comes to their own opinions about the main character
Maleficent in the film. This film also features characters like Aurora, Stefan, and Diaval which allows
the audience to see her different sides and views of good and evil through other characters perceptions
of Maleficent. This is seen throughout the film and can be seen with her relationship between King
Stefan and his daughter Aurora along with her servant Diaval. There is no easy way to define the line
between good evil. This is an overarching theme throughout the movie Maleficent because there are
different opinions on these 3 characters and the other background characters in the film. In the first
scene of the movie, we see Maleficent as a good child who is seen as the strongest of the fairies in this
film. When we see her and how the other characters from the Moors the mythical area in which
Maleficent lives, see her as a good, nice, playful, and very fair person who looks over the Moors and
those who live in it. Stefan, in the beginning, allows ourselves as the audience to see an, even more, a
clearer picture of Maleficent and how good and magnificent she is however from what he does later in
the movie to Maleficent changes how we see her and perceive is good or evil of her. It is seen
throughout this film Maleficent isn t purely evil nor purely good. Sending the message that people are
made to be both good and evil. Trying to define good and evil is like trying to

A Good Man Is Hard And Good Country People By Flannery O ...
In the short stories A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good Country People, Flannery O Connor writes
about violence. The violence in A Good Man is Hard to Find surprises the reader because it is
unexpected. Flannery O Connor lulls the reader into a false sense of security and then pulls the rug out
from under you at the end of the story. The violence is found within the character The Misfit and in his
murderous actions. The violence in Good Country People is found within the character Hulga
Hopewell and her hostility toward her mother, religion, and herself. Flannery O Connor uses violence
to criticize the hypocrisy of certain ideas and accepted cultural and religious norms. Textual evidence
is necessary in this essay to prove the idea that Flannery O Connor uses violence in these two stories
to criticize the hypocrisy in the characters. In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find, the
hypocrisy and selfishness of the grandmother brings about all of the conflict in the story. As John
Desmond notes in his essay Flannery O Connor s Misfit and the Mystery of Evil, her [the grandmother
s] lying and selfishness lead directly to the accident and the subsequent murder of her family (133).
The grandmother deceitfully coaxes her son Bailey and his family into going to Tennessee because she
wants to, even though no one else in the family has any desire to go there. The grandmother considers
herself a lady and a good Christian woman (133), but she

Chesapeake Colonies Differences
The English Civil War created economic disputes and religious turmoil which forced a large number
of humans to acknowledge the New World as a source of protection from the conflict within their
home country. Currently, many of the early colonists fled to geographical areas that were constructed
by a culture of the first colonists. Due to extended motivations for voyaging the New World, isolating
individual reasons for the two contrasting Chesapeake and New English cultures was very
challenging. The settled land shaped the development of the contrasting cultures because of the
different environments encountered by the colonists. Nonetheless, while the New England and
Chesapeake colonies established identical governments, the economies and cultures evolved to fit
their religion.
Both settlements legislatures were isolated to a specific governor and assembly of the people. ... Show

An example would be the Puritan and Irish ideas of life in New England connected within a single
civilization. Also, the Anglicans, Quakers and aristocrats of the Chesapeake merged their routines
together. Evidently, both colonies depict similarities and differences which advise religion as the main
reason behind the diversity.
The main difference was the religion of both areas. The British colonies in New England were very
religious based, and claimed to believe in God more than other colonists. Religion was family based
and with extreme devotion. In contrast, religion was less relentless in the Chesapeake. The religious
emphasis was small, and numerous people did not participate within the Church. Both colonies
practiced religion at their own pace and based it upon their society at their own rate. The New England
colonies had developed into a religion and family based society comprised of mostly middle class

A Penny Green
Introduction
During this project, the group will be attempting to turn a penny green. Needed in this experiment will
be pennies dated before 1982 because that was when pennies were made of copper. During this
experiment, the group will be mixing together different chemical reactions in order to get the penny to
turn green. The group is trying to create a patina coating on the penny. Patina is referring to the blue
green layer of corrosion that expands on the surface of copper when it is exposed to oxygen and sulfur
compounds. However, instead of using simply sulfur and oxide compounds, like the Statue of Liberty,
the experimenters will be using a vinegar substitute. The vinegar is being substituted for the acid rain,
the acid is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The patina is preserving the statue, it is protecting the Statue of Liberty from further deterioration.
Another result of patina, besides the blue green color, is the mass change of the Statue of Liberty.
Studies have shown that only the top 5% of the skin has oxidized in the first one hundred years since it
was built. Most of this occurred in the first ten to twenty five years because of early oxidization. It
took about thirty four years for the very top layer of the skin on the Statue of Liberty to become
completely blue green.
(Chemistry)
First of all copper must oxidize in order for the process to start. It s a basic reaction of copper to
oxygen. The chemical formula is: 2Cu + O2 2CuO. The vinegar is very similar to acetate acid.
Together the vinegar and copper would form Copper (II) Acetate. The formula would be
Cu(C2H3O2)2. Also, the patina growth varies dramatically with location and how much copper
sulfate (CuSO4) the object contains. The Statue of Liberty has been exposed to acid rain and oxygen
which forms (over time) patina. The acid rain is the combination of rain and the pollution in the
atmosphere which solidifies enough for form acid rain. The sulfate comes from sulfuric acid in the
acid rain and the sulfate is bound to other components in patina. This is because the copper sulfate is
normally soluble in water. Also, copper carbonate Cu(HCO3)2 does not exist in a solid state, so when

Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is,
undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops
through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief
mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes
place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by
the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine
the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth
Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We
see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s
Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While
this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence
to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to
extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states
By so much shall I falsify men s hopes,
And like bright metal on a sullen ground,
My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault,
Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes
Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211)
That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of
Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for
the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from
the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and arguably
primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual largely defined
by his honor. Thus, in

Homelessness Is An Ever Growing Epidemic

Professor Scott Stringer
March 17, 2016
Abstract
In the complex society of this day and age, homelessness is an ever growing epidemic; People can
become homeless for many reasons: losing a job, addiction to drugs and mental illness. People drive
or walk past a homeless person every day without thinking ever about the predicament of that
individual or they may even unintentionally turn their heads the other way in repulsion. Homelessness
can be defined as an individual or a family whose has a main nighttime dwelling that is a public or
private place not designed for or normally used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human
beings, including a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, airport, or camping ground,
doorway or alley sidewalk. Any given night in Portland there can be upwards of 4000 people sleeping
on the streets in homeless camps, shelters, or under the bridges, this report looks at the direct
correlation between homelessness, the disease of drug addiction, and mental illness, And will try to
address ways to help decrease and prevent it from increasing.
Introduction/Background
Have you ever walked in Downtown Portland with sole intention of paying attention to the details of
your surroundings? A person would think that the first thing that they would notice is the beautiful
architecture of the buildings or maybe the many statues and fountains that line the

How Durkheim Makes A Very Accurate Argument About Suicide
Durkheim makes a very accurate argument about suicide and why it happens. There are many reasons
why people commit suicide that are other than bad reasons. Everyone tends to think that suicides only
happen when a person is feeling upset. But Durkheim makes an argument that suicide can happen
even when a person is really happy. There are a lot of factors that can cause a person to commit
suicide such as feeling upset, not belonging, being too happy, or even just a sudden change in life
aspects can cause a person to commit suicide. Changes in the anomie of the population can really
affect a person.
When it comes to the community having a rise in suicide I would say that it has to do with the sudden
rise in the economic state for the member of the community. Since there have been a lot of people that
have come into money thee past finical position has changed very dramatically. Durkheim states that
when a person experiences a severe change in economic status they seem to lose their minds. They are
not able to figure out what to with all of the money therefore conduct into a new life that is very out of
there control. They might spend all of the money too quickly and fall into a depression or they might
feel that even with all of the money in the world they are not able to really be happy thus leading to
suicide as well. Durkheim urges that this is possible both ways when a person loses lots of money or
when they come into a lot of money. This can also happen to a person if

  • 2. Financial Forecasting Time Series Models for Forecasting New One Family Houses Sold in the United States Introduction The economic recession felt in the United States since the collapse of the housing market in 2007 can be seen by various trends in the housing market. This collapse claimed some of the largest financial institutions in the U.S. such as Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers, as they held over leveraged positions in the mortgage backed securities market. Credit became widely available to unqualified borrowers during the nineties and the early part of the next decade which caused bankers to act predatorily in their lending practices, as they could easily sell and package subprime mortgage loans on leverage. This act caused a bubble that would later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2 12 period plot of autocorrelation functions (ACF) for NHS Now that we have verified the presense of a trend in the data we will look to verify the seasonality we saw earlier represented by regularly reoccurring fluctuations in the levels of data in accordance with the calendar seasons. To do this we will use an autocorrelation function for the first differenced new home sales data. We will use a larger sample, in this case 24 months, so that we can see the regularly reoccurring fluctuations from one year to the next. When we look at the graph in Figure 3 we notice great increases with lag 12 and lag 24. The jumps seen in lags 12 and 24 confirms the presense of seasonality as they are above the upper limit representing statistical significance. Figure 3 24 period plot of autocorrelation functions (ACF) for first differenced NHS Time Series and Regression Models for New One Family Houses Sold Since the NHS data has been shown to have trend and seasonality we will evaluate the data using four different time series models and compare the results of each to see which model is the most accurate. The models we are going to use are the Modified Naïve model, Winters Exponential Smoothing model, Time Series Decomposition, and Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA). We will also test a multiple regression model to attempt to forecast future NHS, while taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Health Disparities And Health Care Health disparities are present in our health care system. Whether it be racial, educational, or environmental, these disparities exist and are detrimental to health care outcomes. While there have been recent advancements in how to eliminate or reduce these disparities, there is still a major inequity in health care for all individuals. This paper will include definitions of health equity and health inequity, steps to reduce health inequity, and two important decisions used to decrease in health inequity and why this reduction in health inequity occurs. It will also include further discussion on certain steps and decisions used to decrease health inequity. Defining Health Equity and Inequity According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), health equity is achieved when every person has the opportunity to attain his or her full health potential and no one is disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2015). Satcher (2010) reports that health inequities are systematic, avoidable, and unjust disparities (p. 6). He also states that the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that social conditions are the most important determinant of a person s health. Social conditions determine access to health services and influence lifestyle choices (Satcher, 2010, p. 6). These determinants must be addressed in order to reduce health inequity. • 7. Essay On Firewall Security FIREWALL SECURITY This reports looks at what a firewall is, and how it works. It also looks at what security risks can be stopped by a firewall in a computer system. Most people think that a firewall is where all data traffic on the internet has to go through between networks, as shown in Figure 1.1 [pic] What is a firewall? In network security, firewall is considered a first line of defense in protecting private information. A firewall sits at the junction point, or gateway, between the two networks, which are often a private network and a public network such as the Internet. (John V. Harrison, Hal Berghel, 2004, A Protocol Layer Survey of Network Security). It is a system designed to prevent certain access to or from another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of the firewall is to monitor the connection state. It then decides whether to permit or deny the data traffic. If the data passed is not matched to the state of conversation, or if the data is not in the state table, then this data is dropped. This is called stateful inspection . Access authentication provided by firewalls For authentication, firewalls use different types of mechanisms. 1 Firewalls use usernames and passwords. When a connection receives authentication and authorisation once, then the user is not asked this information again. 2 Certificates and public keys are also used for authorisation and authentication. 3 Authentication can be handled through pre shared keys. These are better than certificates as they are less complex and easier to implement. The time it takes to authenticate is the same whether it is a certificate or a pre shared key. A pre shared host is issued with a predetermination key which is used for authentication. There is only one problem with a pre shared key: that it rarely changes. There are many organisations that use the same key to manage multiple remote hosts. This could be a security threat for the organisation. If a host firewall is not successful in its authentication, then the packet will be dropped. Role of a firewall as intercessor A firewall can act as an intercessor to help with the communication process between two hosts. This process is known as Proxy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. My Story About My Daughter So I have come here to tell you guys about my daughter and request some assistance from you, I guess. Last night sort of shook me a little bit and I am at a loss mentally about what to do. I have an 8 year old daughter, Amber, who shares a multitude of personality traits in common with me. One of my favorites is the use of wanton sarcasm pretty much 100% of the time. I keep telling my wife, Jennifer, that it s a sign of intelligence; she ll just roll her eyes and reminds me that she constantly has to explain the process of moving shit in the fridge to find other shit to the both of us. I guess that means we aren t all that smart. However, like I said, I didn t come here to gush over my love for my daughter. Yesterday morning pretty much started how it usually does with me struggling to get my wife and daughter up and ready for work and school respectively. My wife is more of an uphill struggle than Amber is most of the time. It really only gets bad if she doesn t get a restful sleep. This day was apparently one of those days indicated by the three trips I made into her bedroom to annoy the shit out of her until she woke up. The more I tried to probe into why she was so tired she met it with a significant amount more resistance. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, so I dropped it. We had plans to go to a fair in central Ohio that I had been excited for all year. It was two hours away from our house but I hadn t been in so long that the drive seemed worth it. ... • 9. Example Of Rhetorical Hyperbole What happens when one abuses their given basic constitutional rights to the extreme? When observing the recent actions of NGO giant Greenpeace, this question comes in as a determinant. The largest forestry enterprise, Resolute Forest Products is indicting Greenpeace of slanderous behaviour as well as the fabrication of photos, and falsifying evidence. In response to their lawsuit, Greenpeace states they did not lie but at the time they were engaging in rhetorical hyperbole . According to their words in a court gesture, their statements about forest destruction dealt by Resolute can be describing figurative, rather than literal destruction. In other words, they are utilizing the defence of free speech. This isn t the first incident to occur from Greenpeace, as well as from other NGOs. What these NGOs don t comprehend is whenever they apply the method of using exaggerated facts to reel in donations, it s dealing a lot more damage than they realize. Consider the following, if the rhetorical hyperbole defence is valid; this spells out the legal precedent for years to come, creating massive negative impacts on company and people relations. Therefore, exaggerated truths used by NGOs should be made illegal. Concerning the negative impacts that can stem from using exaggerated truths, misinformation can wrongly put a bad light on the company and the public. Ankle Sprains Introduction Ankle sprain injuries are most common in team sports that include contact, jumping, sharp cutting manoeuvres and running, such as football, volleyball, handball and basketball (Fong et al and Thacker et al). Pefanis et al found that 10% to 30% of the injuries recorded in football, basketball and volleyball are ankle sprains. According to physioroom.com, ankle sprain is the 2nd most common injury footballer players suffer from. Woods et al found that over two seasons in the English football leagues, 11% of the injuries recorded were ankle sprains, and 77% of these involved the lateral ligament complex. Ankle sprains usually occur in professional football as a result from a tackle, making sharp cutting edge movements, or landing awkwardly after jumping. The most common type of ankle sprain is to the lateral ligaments (anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligaments) after inversion plantar flexion and internal rotation of the ankle (85% of all reported ankle injuries). At the time of the injury the athlete would feel pain on the lateral side of his ankle, and the ankle would show signs of swelling and bruising (the swelling might start on impact, but it could also take a few hours depending on the severity of the injury). A snap or tear sound may be heard, but it is not of diagnostic significance (Tropp et al, Garrick, aofas.org, Khan and Bruker, nsmi.org and Yeung et al). The ankle sprain could be person related, like when the individual perform poorly executed tackles or cutting manoeuvres to cause the inversion of the ankle. The injury could also be a result of environmental risk factors, like the condition/irregularity of the pitch/field, position the athlete plays in, and foul play (Willems et al and ... • 12. The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity contrast, confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and propagation will enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) curves. Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and water to prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from 500 1500 psi, 0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate wormhole propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range of 0.1 to 10 ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of piston to 2 x 4 synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. The differential pressure across the core is monitored throughout the process. LabVIEW is used for data acquisition, instrument control, measurement analysis and data presentation. A Statistics Canada study stated that in 2000, 1,425,700 respondents worked from home, where as in 2008 the number of people working from home was 1,748,600, a small but notable upward trend. Though numbers are only increasing slowly, more and more Canadians are working from home. The trend is particularly impacting university graduates, of who more than 1 in 5 work from home. Factors that have contributed to this trend include an increase in the type and availability of technology, the desire of today s workers to have a better work life balance, and the desire of companies to attract employees. In today s work technology is increasing at a rapid pace, and much of it is more accessible than before. An example that has been changed by both of these factors is the internet. When first introduced to homes and businesses, use of the internet required it to be connected to a phone line. • 14. Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Essay Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Descartes s fifth Meditation argument for God s existence relies on an untenable notion that existence is a perfection and that it can be predicated of God. I shall first explain what Descartes s argument for God s existence is, and then present his argument in propositional form. I will then attempt to support the argument that existence is neither a perfection nor a predicate of God. In our thoughts we apprehend ideas of things. These ideas may reside entirely within our thoughts or they may exist independent of our considerations of them (Descartes 143). Descartes argues that the idea of God is that He is infinite substance [eternal, immutable], independent, all knowing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Existence, therefore, should more properly be thought of as a prerequisite for perfection and not a perfection in and of itself. Descartes disagrees however, and in his reply to Gassendi he argues that existence is necessarily predicated of God because existence is a part of the true essence of any perfect being (Plantinga 49). For Descartes, it is not possible for us to possess the idea of a most perfect being if this being lacks the most important characteristic of existence. If God did not exist then He would not be the most perfect being, but we clearly have the idea of the most perfect being so therefore He must exist. The problem with this notion, however, is that Descartes begs the question by building into premise (2) the concept of a perfect being which has yet to be demonstrated. In order to demonstrate God s existence, Descartes should not assume, or presuppose, that which he is attempting to conclude. But by predicating the existence of God in (2) he has already concluded that which is later restated in the conclusion. In effect, the follower of Descartes s argument is tricked, for if he or she agrees with the foundational premises for the sake of the argument (that existence is predicated of a most perfect being), then there is no choice left but to conclude that God exists. Further, predicating the existence of a most perfect being based upon the attributes that this being is believed to possess fails to provide existence to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Concept Of Intrinsic Motivation Theory In addition to Maslow s self actualization and moreover, there is self determination theory (SDT), which suggests that people are motivated to grow and change by innate psychological needs. The theory identifies three key psychological needs that are believed to be both innate and universal: the needs for competence, connectedness and autonomy. The concept of intrinsic motivation plays an important role in self determination theory. Psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan developed SDT and determined motivation to be that which people tend to be driven by; a need to grow and gain fulfillment. The first consideration of self determination theory is that people are actively directed toward growth, mastering challenges, and taking on new experiences, which are essential for developing a cohesive sense of self. Explained further by Deci and Ryan (2002), SDT begins by embracing the assumption that all individuals have natural, innate, and constructive tendencies to develop an ever more elaborated and unified sense of self. That is, we assume people have a primary propensity to forge interconnections among aspects of their own psyches as well as with other individuals and groups in their social worlds. SDT embodies a wide ranging outline for human motivation and personality. SDT articulates a meta theory for framing motivational studies, a formal theory that defines intrinsic and a variety of extrinsic motivations. Furthermore, SDT also focuses on how social and ... Freshly fallen ash particles can have acid coatings which may cause irritation to the lungs and eyes. This acid coating is rapidly removed by rain, which may then pollute local water supplies. Acidic ash can also damage vegetation, leading to crop failure. People can be more fearful of the health hazards of volcanic ash and gases than of the risk of dying from more major hazards, such as pyroclastic flows. However, ashfalls can affect very wide areas around volcanoes and may cause major disruption to normal living.Medical services can expect an increase in the number of patients with respiratory and eye symptoms during and after an ashfall event. Effects of ash on health may be divided into several categories: respiratory effects, eye symptoms, and skin irritation. In some eruptions, ash particles can be so fine that they are breathed deep into the lungs. With high exposure, even healthy individuals will experience chest discomfort with increased coughing and irritation. In rare circumstances, long term exposure to fine volcanic ash may lead to serious lung diseases. For these diseases to occur, the ash must be very fine, contain crystalline silica (for the disease silicosis to occur) and the people must be exposed to the ash in high concentrations over many years. Exposure to crystalline silica in volcanic ash is typically of short duration (days to weeks), and studies suggest that the recommended exposure limits (similar in most countries) can be exceeded for short periods of time for the general population. People suffering from asthma or other lung problems such as bronchitis and emphysema, and severe heart problems are most at risk. The development of respiratory symptoms from the inhalation of volcanic ash depends on a number of factors. These include the concentration of particles in the air, the proportion of fine particles in the ash, the frequency and duration of exposure, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms Human activities add another layer of complexity to the natural processes of coastal lands and materials. These activities may have direct or indirect effects on our changing coastlines. They may effect sources of new sediment to the coast and the movement of sediment within the coastal environment. Sediment starvation caused by river and coastal management is one effect of human activities on the coast. For some coastal regions, such as the Pacific coast, a large part of their sediment is supplied by rivers. Dams built for flood control and water catchment along the rivers leading to these coasts inhibit the transport of large grained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leaves the sand dunes more susceptible to erosion causing blowouts and disrupting the succession of vegetation in the area. This has been a problem at Studland Bay in Dorset on the south coast of England. Persistent human leisure activities on the dunes has led to substantial erosion in some parts of these dunes which has meant that Management programs have had to been introduced by English Nature. Sand dunes help absorb the pounding of high waves and reduce overwash flooding in storms. It has become common for sand dunes to be bulldozed to improve the views to the sea. However this destroys the natural protection of the coast. Human activities such as water transport also can cause problems for coastal areas. The dredging of navigation channels and the discharging of the material in deep water to enable larger ships to travel though water channels removes sediment from the coastal system leaving the area susceptible to erosion and will also interfere with longshore drift which will prevent the coastal beach landforms from being maintained such as the development of a spit. The Stigma Of Bipolar Disorder Essay Cory Murphy Composition 101 Professor Tanya Vanderlinde 11 Dec. 2016 Eliminate the Stigma When a seventh grader at Frederick Area High School in Frederick, South Dakota, was asked to describe what bipolar disorder is, he said that it refers to people that change personalities fast (McGaugh). However, this is only a common misconception. Though the word bipolar is often used in conversations to describe a person that has mood swings, bipolar disorder actually refers to a serious mental illness. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, about 2.6 percent of American adults suffer from a form of bipolar disorder, and about one in five people with bipolar disorder commits suicide. Despite the impact that bipolar disorder has on the lives of patients and families alike, it is treated casually by people across the United States. Even though many treat it flippantly, bipolar disorder is a serious mental ailment, and the public needs to have a greater understanding of it. There is a dark stigma surrounding mental illness in general, and bipolar disorder is no exception. According to the Mental Health Commission of Western Australia, a stigma is a mark of disgrace that sets someone apart. Bipolar disorder is incredibly misunderstood by society at large, which leads to this stigma, prejudice, and discrimination. The violence in A Good Man is Hard to Find surprises the reader because it is unexpected. Flannery O Connor lulls the reader into a false sense of security and then pulls the rug out from under you at the end of the story. The violence is found within the character The Misfit and in his murderous actions. The violence in Good Country People is found within the character Hulga Hopewell and her hostility toward her mother, religion, and herself. Flannery O Connor uses violence to criticize the hypocrisy of certain ideas and accepted cultural and religious norms. Textual evidence is necessary in this essay to prove the idea that Flannery O Connor uses violence in these two stories to criticize the hypocrisy in the characters. In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find, the hypocrisy and selfishness of the grandmother brings about all of the conflict in the story. The patina is preserving the statue, it is protecting the Statue of Liberty from further deterioration. Another result of patina, besides the blue green color, is the mass change of the Statue of Liberty. Studies have shown that only the top 5% of the skin has oxidized in the first one hundred years since it was built. Most of this occurred in the first ten to twenty five years because of early oxidization. It took about thirty four years for the very top layer of the skin on the Statue of Liberty to become completely blue green. (Chemistry) First of all copper must oxidize in order for the process to start. It s a basic reaction of copper to oxygen. The chemical formula is: 2Cu + O2 2CuO. The vinegar is very similar to acetate acid. Together the vinegar and copper would form Copper (II) Acetate. The formula would be Cu(C2H3O2)2. Also, the patina growth varies dramatically with location and how much copper sulfate (CuSO4) the object contains. The Statue of Liberty has been exposed to acid rain and oxygen which forms (over time) patina. The acid rain is the combination of rain and the pollution in the atmosphere which solidifies enough for form acid rain. The sulfate comes from sulfuric acid in the acid rain and the sulfate is bound to other components in patina. This is because the copper sulfate is normally soluble in water. Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is, undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states By so much shall I falsify men s hopes, And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211) That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for the responsibilities of the throne on another level. There are many reasons why people commit suicide that are other than bad reasons. Everyone tends to think that suicides only happen when a person is feeling upset. But Durkheim makes an argument that suicide can happen even when a person is really happy. There are a lot of factors that can cause a person to commit suicide such as feeling upset, not belonging, being too happy, or even just a sudden change in life aspects can cause a person to commit suicide. Changes in the anomie of the population can really affect a person. When it comes to the community having a rise in suicide I would say that it has to do with the sudden rise in the economic state for the member of the community. Since there have been a lot of people that have come into money thee past finical position has changed very dramatically. Durkheim states that when a person experiences a severe change in economic status they seem to lose their minds. They are not able to figure out what to with all of the money therefore conduct into a new life that is very out of there control. They might spend all of the money too quickly and fall into a depression or they might feel that even with all of the money in the world they are not able to really be happy thus leading to suicide as well.
