Absence Of His Father In Booker T Washington
The name Booker T. Washington is often closely associated with prestige and great success as a
leader. However, before he was the man we know of today he came from a life of struggle and
constant strife. Before he became an image of freedom and intelligence he had to endure not only
conflicts externally for the color of his skin, but internally as well as he struggled to live his life
accordingly without the proper guidance of a father. The autobiography Up from Slaverygives us a
new perspective as the narrative tells the story of his life from slavery to becoming one of the
founders of TuskegeeInstitute. Yet, a man with his reputation it would be virtually impossible to
reach his stature without having some sort of guidance from mentors. Of course, throughout the
narrative Washington acknowledges many people in his life who he considered to be a father
figure , but due to the fact he was the son of a slave cook and a white man he never knew, there
was never a true biological father son relationship in his life. This begs the question if the lack and
absence of his own father shaped his own self perception, his relationship with others, as well as his
leadership style? By analyzing excerpts and quotes within the literature piece one could conclude
that the absence of his father is something Booker T. Washingtonhas come to terms with thus not
placing heavy burden on his life style and choices.
For example, a specific quote in the text shows how Washington does not put

Pros And Cons Of Legalizing Drugs
Drug legalization is one of the hottest topics in the world today. Drug has both of advantages and
disadvantages for human, for society, or even for a country. It is common to see different views
held by people. Some people support drug legalization but others opposes that. This essay will
argue that drugshould not be legalized because although they are relaxing, there are also harmful
for one s health and can have a bad influence.
Some people think drugs should be legalized that could help people release painful and reduce
crime and violence without increase drug abuse. Drugs can help people who are in pain from
diseases like cancer relaxed and feel less pain. The chemical elements and hormones can make
people have a different feeling after they take the drugs. People could feel relax and pleasure during

Drug could reduce crime and violence. Most of the illegalized drug costs a lot so that people
who depend on taking drug have to pay money for their drugs, which would lead to more people
begin to stealing things by breaking the laws. (John intext ref) Property crime takes nearly half
of all crime in the United Kingdom and the amount of money is about two billion annually.
Legalizing drugs would reduce the costs of drug so that most of drugs are affordable, there
would be less people being crime and violence by stealing. Reducing the cost of policing drug
users who do not commit other crime can reduce the expenditure of the government and country
because it would costs a huge amount of money for government to send people who take illegal
drugs to court and prison. Legalized drug will not increase drug abuse. (intext ref) There is a

Civil disobedience is the refusal of someone to obey certain laws, demands, orders or commands
of a government or occupying international power. Civil disobedience is defined to be nonviolent

Major Stressors in Teens Lives
Major Stressors In Teens Lives
What is stress actually and how do we determine who is stressed? Most of us describe stress as
when everything became too much that we are overloaded and wonder if we can cope with the
amount of pressure placed upon us. Stress actually is anything that poses challenge or a threat to
our well being is a stress. While most people took stress as something negative, it can also be a
good thing as it gets you going in life when there are problems which need to be solved as life
would be dull, boring and pointless without any stress at all. However, stresses are bad when it
undermines both our mental and physical health. In this text, I would like to focus on the major
stressors in teens lives as we all know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

suicidal tendencies, physical illness, or even drug or alcohol abuse. Hence, teenagers actually faces
real stressful situation when they re having problems which they aren t able to handle the pressure
and anxiety of these stresses.
In conclusion, teenagers especially in this modern age revolving technology, vast field of
knowledge and touch of the fingertips information access, faces a lot of stresses in all aspects of
life. Instead of putting more pressure on them, those people around them should give them
morale support and try helping them to handle and cope with their stress. Identifying the cause
is the first step and from there teens can learn positive ways to release stress and find resolutions
to their situations. A first step in controlling stress is identifying the good and bad stressors in
their life as it helps in patronizing, learning stress techniques and in some cases getting help

Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System
The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated
through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration
and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined
wages and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the
influence and power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the
arbitration and conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has
been consistent with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference)
This has resulted in more employees not being covered by a form of representation which then in
turn has initiated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences of this Act favoured a formal system of agreement making, with awards
becoming the minimum for conditions and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC)
becoming an independent tribunal to regulate these conditions. While individual agreements were
limited because of the restraints of awards on common law contracts, enterprise bargaining gave
businesses more opportunity to expand rules and decisions in workplaces were unions were weak
(Reference). The legislation introduced instability of collectivism within the industrial relations
system and provided the opportunity for individualism to develop and therefore for an employee
voice (Reference). For an example, unfair dismissal under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and
the Industrial Relations Act would have required an employee claiming unfair dismissal to be
represented by a union. The provisions under the 1993 legislation have given individual employees
the opportunity to initiate an unfair dismissal complaint without the representation of the

Essay Comparing Beowulf And Nelson Mandela
Imagine waking up one day to find that the civil rights that you had possessed the day before
were deprived. Would you be the one to initiate a civil rights movement to regain it? Rarely are
there cases of a true hero that s willing to fight for, not just their rights, but others in their group.
Even if they didn t intend to gain recognition for doing it, many are written down in history as a
major influence in society. These heroes could look like the average citizen, however, when
circumstances call for it, they ll step up and be a herowith a courageous mentality. They display
characteristics that society values in a hero, such as determination, courage, and altruism.

Both of them are genuinely determined. Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to end apartheid in
South Africa. He was able to tolerate twenty seven years in prison, while continuing to fight for
desegregation, equality, and black suffrage. As king of the Geats, Beowulf also dedicated his
life to protect the people, especially when he was aging and had to defeat a monster that was
powerful. Both Mandela and Beowulf display forgiving characteristics. Even after Mandela
suffered twenty seven years imprisoned, he forgave those involved in his imprisonment, going
as far as sharing his Nobel Peace prize with former and last president during the apartheid era,
Frederik Willem de Klerk. Beowulf was also forgiving. When he discovered the theft that stole
the fire dragon s treasures, he didn t blame him or use him as a sacrifice, Instead, he was dragged
along, but Beowulf wouldn t allow him to be killed, and in the end, the theft survived by running
away. Even though Beowulf and Mandela display traits that are similar to each other, they also
have distinct differences that sets apart a real life hero and a fictional

Athletes Should Not Be Paid Than Athletes
Professional athletes are making too much money in a society where salaries and wages are
traditionally based on the value of ones work ( Professional Athletes ). In today s society, one is
not actually paid more based on the economic importance of their occupation. Instead, those
involved in the entertainment industry get paid larger salaries than those shaping the future. In
the 1996 basketball season, Michael Jordan made 170,000 dollars a day, whereas an average
teacher will only collect 40,000 dollars a year (Professional Athletes). The salaries of athletes do
not directly reflect their roles in the world. Professional athletes only play a small role in the
entertainment industry their careers do not affect what will become of the... Show more content on

To illustrate the income difference, each basket Kobe Bryant scores earns him a counterpart to
the average classroom teacher s yearly salary (). The Leader of the free world, Barack Obama,
makes critical decisions that affect the entire world every day, only to make $400,000 a year.
While President Obama is hard at work reviving the economy, a rookie in the MLB is earning
way over that figure. Furthermore, firefighters, doctors, and police officers protect and save
lives while risking their own for only a small portion of what sports stars make. For the same
reasons individuals in the military leave their families at home for months to preserve and defend
the country knowing full well they may never return. It s truly a pity that none of these true
heroes are given the same recognition by society as athletes such as Brett Favre or Michael Jordan
are given (). The humorously large salary awarded to professional athletes is a lucid reminder to
many that money is tearing professional sports apart. Each year there are strikes and lockouts
because the athletes believe that their pay is not sufficient. Once they have gotten a whiff of the
riches they will do anything to get more, even if it means going somewhere else to play (Turner).
In 2004 2005 the National Hockey League canceled its season due to salary caps for the players ().

Character Analysis Of White Fang
Through both brutal and loving actions, the characters in White Fang thrive to become the best.
White Fang was taught from young to become fit for the environment of which he faced. Weedon
Scott cherishes White Fang, being the best master White Fang could have. Kiche faced
unmanageable situations, but she still managed to survive. These are the most significant
characters in White Fang that stood out to survive and become the fittest. The character White Fang
demonstrates survival of the fittest through his many actions. First, White Fang was taught since
youth to hunt for his own food. For instance, White Fang had to kill ptarmigan chicks for food,
and he had to kill a weasel because he was being attacked. (London, 73) These events... Show more

Weedon Scott has sympathy for White Fang and has an idea of what he had to go through, just
to survive in the wild. Although, Weedon Scott still demands respect from White Fang and he
still wants White Fang to obey him just like his previous masters. When Weedon Scott fell off of
his horse, he demanded White Fang not to attack the horse, and to go back home. (London, 238)
This example shows how White Fang has to respect Weedon Scott if he wants to be respected
back. Concluding my evidence, these actions show how Weedon Scott is the survival of the
fittest. Kiche showed how she adapted to the savage environment in which she faced. First off,
she saved White Fang from being killed by a lynx and a weasel, and if she did not save him he
would have died. (London, 71) This incident proves that Kiche cared for him, and Kiche would
protect her cubs if necessary. This picture displays how Kiche cared and loved White Fang. A
couple years later, Kiche met up with White Fang and she did not recognize him because White
Fang matured and looked older. Kiche s instinct was to claw White Fang because she thought he
was trying to hurt her newborn cubs. (London, 134) This made White Fang and Kiche mentally
stronger, so they could both move on with their new life. Finally, Kiche willingly gave herself up
to indians knowing she would escape in the future. Kiche, like White Fang, was brilliant and she
knew the man animals were more powerful than her, so that

Australia Trade and Immigration Background As Joycelyn has mentioned Australia s having greater
and greater interaction with its Asian neighbours, through the areas of trade and its active role in
the regional trade organization
APEC. Despite its location, Australia can hardly be thought of being an Asian country. Not so long
ago, Asian were looked down upon, with a mixture of fear because of the communist aggression,
pity because of their poverty, and contempt, as they dumped cheap and poorly made products to do
Australian workers out of job. For decades, high prohibitive tariffs blocked the imports of Asian
goods, and a
White Australia policy fenced off Asian migrants. However, the situation is reversed in the past 2

Australia s willingness to open is its generous immigration policy. The # admitted stayed over

Informative Essay On Baroque Music
Baroque music was first constructed between 1600s through 1750. Baroque music originates in
Rome, and Italy, thought out time the music migrated across Europe. The word Baroque is Italian
for bizarre, which corresponds with the music because it is very lively and energetic. I choose the
baroque period because the musicis very interesting and one of a kind, that is not played anymore
in our time. There are many different parts that make up the BaroqueOpera, from composers to the
actual Opera itself. There were many composers during the baroque era that wrote operas, like

The first opera house was opened in Venice, 1673. Composers would preform their operas for the
wealthy in theaters that would not be available for the less fortunate, or be hired to perform in the
wealthy s homes. Baroque music was also very popular for the ability to dance to it. There are five
different dances that were created during the Baroque period. The first one is Gavotte , it is a
French dance in a moderately quick quadruple meter, this formed one of the movements in the
classical suite, usually following the saraband. Another Baroque dance is called Bourree , this
dance is similar to gavotte; bourree starts on a different beat giving the dance a different feel,
usually played at a moderate tempo. Passepied is also another dance made from the baroque era,
this dance is a fast paced dance usually played at a triple meter. Another dance is the Minuet ,
this dance is one of the best know dances. This dance can start on any beat, making it more
enjoyable to dance to due to multiple beats. The last dance is Rigaudon this dance is a French
dance similar to bourree, but has more of a rhythmic feel to it. During this period the church was
also a big part in of the Baroque era. The church also started to get involved into the opera and
instruments known as cantata. Singing in the church created a variety of voices known as soprano,
alto, and many more. There are many forms of singing for example there were, recitative, duets,
and arias that were sung in the church. All the voices singing in unison created a melody that would
allow others to sing along, creating a homophonic

Start Up Cost Analysis For A Chicken Restaurant
The Best Location and the Start up Cost Analysis for a Chicken Restaurant
The geographic location is of vital importance for many kinds of businesses, especially for retail
business. A poor choice of location can be hard to repair for a start up company (Markman, 2010).
There are many types of locations for retail or catering business to choose, including downtown
shopping districts, shopping centers and stand alone stories (Moorman and Halloran, 2006). The
choice of location mainly depends on what kind of consumer goods you sale. Convenience theory is
also considered in location finding because time and convenience often worth money to customers

Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol
Driving under the influence of alcohol not only presents a danger to the driver, but also to every
other motorist or pedestrian near the roadway. Being intoxicated impairs ones judgment, vision
and reaction time, all of which is critical when operating any motor vehicle. Motor vehicle
accidents are the leading cause of death for Americans aged 6 27 and alcohol is a big factor to
those numbers (jstor). Every 20 minutes, someone will die in an alcohol related traffic accident.
Most people think it could never happen to them but experts estimate that everyone has at least a
40% chance of being in a crash that involves alcohol use sometime in their life. According to a
survey by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, drunken driving is the number 1 highway safety
problem. Some believe that better education, more police and higher penalties, the number of
alcohol related deaths and accidents can be reduced(madd).
Ever since the 1980s, the number of alcohol related injuries and fatalities on the roads have gone
down significantly. Yet, drunk driving is still one of the main causes of death and serious injury.
Between 93 and 96 , injuries in drunk driving accidents had begun to come up again. But in 1997
however, this reversed and there was another decrease in the number of injuries and deaths (study).
The next year in 1997, there were approximately 540 fatalities and over 16,000 injuries involving
drivers with a BAC over the legal limit (study). The sad part is that over half of those

The Existence Of Human Knowledge
Humans go through many events and friends, relatives, and acquaintances tell each other
information about a dear loved one or a dear friend. It is up to each individual to know if the
information that have been told is either true or a rumor. Humans tend to mix up the truth with
small lies, in order for the information to be more entertaining. The reason humans mix up the truth
is because they love to be entertained. Throughout life, it is important for humans to recognize the
limitations of human knowledgebecause humans have no certain way to know if a human is lying,

Having a high reputation does not mean someone is inferior in knowledge than others. In
previous times, a group of people was made to believe that people with high rankings were
intelligent. If you were not intelligent how would you be able to run a government or make
wonderful poems? In The Apology of Socrates Socrates was in search of finding wise people like
artisans and politicians to ask about their opinion about the Delphic Oracle. Socrates discovers
politicians believe they are wise, but in reality, they know nothing. Poets and the craftsmen had
wonderful creations, but could not explain their work with knowledge. Socrates concluded it was
not intelligence these men had achieved their works, but they had inspiration (Plato, Five Dialogues
26 27). It is evident, Socrates proved himself wrong in believing high ranked people are the wisest.
The people with high reputation became who they are with pure luck and inspiration, which means
it does not require knowledge to run a government or create a masterpiece of art. Providing various
information does not signify that an individual is telling the truth. An individual could be providing
information for personal gains. For example, one may desire to maintain their marvelous dignity, be
executed, or want to be where the attention is. In the short story, In the Grove , there were

Poetry Analysis of Introduction to Poetry
Poetry analysis of Introduction to Poetry
The Poem Introduction to Poetry is by Billy Collins, an English poet, and it is about how teachers
often force students to over analyze poetry and to try decipher every possible meaning portrayed
throughout the poem rather than allowing the students to form their own interpretation of the poem
based on their own experiences.
Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear
against its hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive
of a bee. The hive of a bee appears to be something dangerous and unknown, just like a new poem,
never before seen, with which one is unfamiliar. Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is... Show more

This is an effective metaphor as water skiing brings about a great sense of joy and is fun, just as
reading a poem in Billy Collins opinion should be.
The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For
instance, I say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic
word, effectively suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed
through the gentle p sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of
the gentleness Billy Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry.
The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or
press an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial
enjoyment one feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also
emphasized through the fact that the poem is a free verse poem.
The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how

Enlightment for Fredrick the Great of Prussia and Joseph...
Frederick the Great of Prussia and Joseph II of Austria adopted the newfound ideas of the
Enlightenment to different extents with Frederick the Great advancing the ideas by
implementing religious toleration, freedom of speech and press, and setting a single code of
laws for all of his subjects and not advancing them by not abolishing serfdom for fear of upsetting
the Junkers , or Prussian nobility; Joseph II advanced the ideas of the Enlightenment eagerly by
completely abolishing serfdom paying no heed to what it could cause socially and politically and
he didn t advance these ideas in the end because his many reforms caused alienation of the church
and nobility and radical changes in social hierarchy.

Most of these reforms though were to please the querulous nobility and prevent them from trying
to interfere with the government and upset social balance. Frederick the Great set limitations
whilst accepting Enlightenment ideas when it interfered with the good of his subjects, economy
and his beloved military. All of these three topics depended on the Prussian nobility, or the
Junkers who owned large amounts of land had many serfs to farm it. Many of these Junkers also
held important military ranks in the army. Frederick the Great could have chosen to abolish
serfdom but did not for this would greatly anger the Junkers, the backbone of the Prussian state
and military. It was said that Prussia was not a country with an army: it was an army with a
country. In Frederick s military, he did not abolish torture to help install discipline and honesty in
his soldiers. Keeping this helped his army become the fourth strongest army in Europe.
Joseph II of Austria strictly believed that reason was the best and only path to take and so accepted
nearly all of the new Enlightenment ideas on his traditionally run empire causing major issues. One

Research Paper Rough Draft
Since the beginning of time books have been banned, they get criticized and are forced to be
removed or all together gotten rid of. Great Authors are forced to remove their hard work, from
public institutions because of one person or organization finding it offensive or unnecessary for
their family or the public. The Chocolate War a novel written by Robert Cormier, was published in
1974 and has received mixed reviews ever since, still the novel is considered one of the best
young adult novels of its time. Robert Cormier got the idea for the novel by his son who refused

Analysis Of Safe Is In The Brain Of The Beholder
Amidst all of the tumultuous violence and controversy that prevalent in today s society, it is no
wonder individuals turn to their comfort zones at the end of a hectic day. Most people students
and workforce members alike feel it necessary to hole up in their safe space to escape and
rejuvenate so that they can put their best foot forward the next day. Lee Burdette Williams
explores this concept of safe spaces through a variety of points in her article Safe is in the Brain of
the Beholder . In opposition to the Dean of the University of Chicago, she encourages people to
look past their own beliefs, and attempt to understand the needs of others, whatever they may be.
Throughout her article, Williams employs common sense tactics as well... Show more content on

Throughout Williams s article, she uses logos in multiple contexts to support her main
arguments. One area readers encounter logical appeals is when the author refers to a point made
by theorists William Cross, Robert Kegan, and Marcia Magolda. Each provide support for the
idea that growth eventually occurs in all individuals. However, they also maintain that this growth
does not happen at the same time for everyone. Individuals grow with time, increased maturity,
and life experience. Most importantly, students grow at their own pace. To extend this point, the
theorists emphasize that with time, individuals learn to separate their beliefs from who they
actually are. By doing so, they are able to recognize that the opinions of others are not definitive
of who they are, resulting in an increased tolerance for and ability to understand others. In the
words of Williams (2016), We move from being our relationships to having our relationships, from
being our beliefs to having our beliefs, from being our identities to having our identities. This
statement is crucial, because although opinions and beliefs are a part of our identity, they do not
make up our entire being. Additionally, science and theory are used in an attempt to appeal to
readers logically when Williams references proven neurological fact that

During a conversion at my family dinner my sister mentioned her small clothing store and she
also discussed how frustrating it is to manually track and record all of the high demanding items
in her store. My sister would like an easier solution for her problem. She decided she wanted an
automated system, but she told us that she has a very small budget. So she asked my mother and I
for any advice we can give for her store.
I mentioned to my sister that she should try using a Universal Product Code (UPC) which is a great

Now that she has the software to create her bar codes she is going to need a printer as well to print
off her bar code labels. The Zebra thermal Barcode Printer is a basic bar code printer which would
be perfect for my sister s budget it allows my sister to print off bar code and also the price right
next to it and the bar code printer only costs $200.
The ongoing maintenance that will be required for this process is that for every item my sister
owns she will need to keep track on which code belongs to which item by typing the description
into the system. By her doing so it is letting the system know which code it belongs to what and
she wouldn t have any confusion on how many of that item she has left. That way whenever she
scans an item out of her inventory she will know exactly how many of that item she has left in
her inventory. My sister will also need to stock up on bar code labels for her bar code printer. She
would need to check her inventory every month now since it is an automated method instead of a
manual method which she would have to check up on inventory every week.

The Tunnel By William Gass
Some people believe that lies will always be bitter in the end, no matter how sweet you make
them in the beginning. In William Gass The Tunnel, he expounds the validity of this belief by
taking the reader on an emotionally evolving journey, as he recounts the self realization of a young
boy, who s frightening lie unravels in front of not only his own eyes, but also the readers. Gass
successfully enriches this story with striking imagery, symbolism, and comparisons; exposing how
no matter how sweet you make a lie in the beginning, it will always turn bitter in the end.
The first paragraph plays an imperative role in the excerpt, for it introduces the reader to the
emotional despondency of the boy. William Gass successfully strikes the reader from the
beginning, for his two word opening, lime slush (line 1), prompts the reader to not only envisage
a lime slush, but also taste its sugary sweetness. However, the sweetness this imagery provides is
short lasting, for they are soon bombarded with countless caesuras, as he describes how slush is
supposed to be water. That s what slush is. It certainly isn t sherbet! It wasn t a nice green. And
there didn t seem to be that much of it. (lines 2 3). The disappointment that entrenches the boy in
these short but concrete statements, successfully introduces the reader to his emotional bitterness,
for not even the lime slush s sweetness can sweeten it. The colour imagery does not stop there, for
he describes how strawberry always

The Squire In The Canterbury Tales Essay
The Squire is best described as a player with the ladies. The prologue says So hot he loved that,
while night told her tale, he slept no more than does a nightingale (4). In Chaucer s Canterbury
Tales, the Squire is the Knight s son but it is clear they want different things. The Knight wants his

Not only did Amin harm Uganda by killing a lot of its population, he also was the cause of an
almost complete economic collapse, when, in 1972, he declared an economic war on the Asian

most of the manufacturing and trade sectors as well as making up a large portion of the civil

They were given British passports and the businesses they left behind were turned over to Amin s

caused the economy to falter and fail as well. As his reign of terror went on, news of Amin s
crimes and atrocities began surfacing internationally, spurring retaliatory actions from countries all

Raising The Minimum Wage
According to the Wall Street Journal, more than one half of the people earning the minimum
wage are from 16 to 24 years of age. This statistic clearly shows that most of the people in
America making minimum wage are young adult that just got out of high school or college and
are trying to find work experience. Why should a low skilled young adult with no work
experience make as much as a teacher? They are doing a job that any other low skilled human
could do. Jobs making the minimum wageshould not be considered to be a career, they should be a
stepping stone towards your future career. The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and
the state minimum wage is $8.10 an hour. An increase in the minimum living wage in the United

and essentially becoming ineffective at reducing poverty. Increased unemployment is just one
of the negative effects of increasing the minimum wage. When employers are forced to pay it s

When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to

not against religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have
overlooked in his philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God
in his passage Although one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what
God Commanded, yet he must be praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with
God. But let us consider Cyrus and the others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all
praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions, when examined, do not seem to differ from
Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too could be Machiavelli simply covering his

Singer, Martin, and Kelner studied 126 patients on dialysis, diagnosed with AIDS, or residents

five domains of quality care at the end of life. These were adequate pain and symptom

Egyptian Mummification And The Afterlife
Egyptian Mummification and the Afterlife The study of humans is commonly known as

described as the beliefs, customs, arts, etc. of a particular society, group, place, or time. Culture is
different among every group of people and there are many different customs and behaviors
involved in various cultures. It s easy for people to be egocentric, or believe that their cultureis
superior to all other cultures. It can be difficult for people to accept different behaviors and
traditions from other cultures, especially when they don t have first hand experience with these
strange behaviors. For example, in North America, when someone passes away it is traditional...

When someone passed away, the body was taken to the embalmers by the relatives, who then
chose the method and quality of mummification. The best and most expensive methods were
used on the wealthy, but there were cheaper alternatives for the poor. Every Egyptian was
entitled to mummification, with the exception of some criminals. The best and most costly
form of mummification was a very lengthy and extensive process. This lengthy process took
more than seventy days to complete. The first step was to draw out the brain through the
nostrils. A long, slightly hooked tool was introduced into the brain through the nose, swirled
around to liquefy the brain. The head was then tipped forward and all contents of the skull
poured out, again through the nose. The next step was to remove the contents of the abdomen.
The stomach, liver, lungs and intestines were all removed. The heart always remained because
the Egyptians believed that the heart was the most important organ in the body and that the soul
resided in the heart. After the organs were removed, they were dried out and placed in canopic
jars. Canopic jars are covered urns used in ancient Egyptian burials to hold the entrails from an
embalmed body. Four canopic jars were used for each mummy and in each jar a different organ
was placed inside. For example, the liver, intestines, lungs and stomach would all be placed in
separate canopic jars. Before the stomach was placed in a canopic jar, it was filled with pure myrrh,
cassia and other spices and sewn back together again. Once the organs were removed from the
body, the interior of the corpse was cleansed with palm wine and spices in order to dry the body

Cain Traditions
The lineages which proceeded from the lines of Seth and Cain became two societies with
distinct opposing qualities; Seth s line was faithful to God, Cain s was not; and in the end, the
legacy of Cain was destroyed in their sin. Adam s first two sons were named Cain and Abel
(Genesis 4:1, 2). Despite being raised in the same environment, Cain s character was vastly
different from that of Abel. When Abel s animal offering was accepted by God, and Cain s fruit
offering was not, Cain became jealous of Abel (Genesis 4:4 6). Cain then killed his brother out of
spite, and turned away from God (Genesis 4:8, 16). Adam and Evewere given another son, named
Seth, to replace Abel (Genesis 4:25). The lineage of Seth consisted of those who were faithful...

As the years progressed, the population of the earth began to grow exponentially, and the line of
Seth began to marry those in the line of Cain (Genesis 6:2). They were obviously influenced by
Cain s culture, since they committed bigamy in taking wives of all which they chose (Genesis
6:2). We see that the earth was filled with violence, and by this we can infer that they inherited
this trait from Cain s line as well (Genesis 6:11). Because of the intermarriage of the ancestral
lines, the men on earth inherited great intelligence, being giants of mental power, and as the
generations continued, became men of renown just as Lamech s children (Genesis 6:4). God
was grieved that He had created man, and found it more merciful to destroy them than to allow
the incredible sin to continue (Genesis 6:6 7). But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord,
and we can see in chapter 5 verses 3 32 that he was directly related to Seth (Genesis 6:9). His
family was chosen by God to be the line from which all generations would follow, and by this
sparing Seth s lineage would be kept pure (Genesis 6:18). In chapter 6 verse 13, God states that

Persuasive Essay On Bullying
When Will it Stop?
What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day
because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has
been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place
that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the
punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you
should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that
way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school.
The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think
that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to
not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be
suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They
will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something
they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been
taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of
students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will
prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in
turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh
enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives.
Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer
pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it.
They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to
never come back to school or do something even worse. If the students who started the bullying
were caught and suspended, less students would continue the bullying. They would see the
consequences that a bully got and

STRATEGY FOR COMPETITION
From a Value based Management point of view, the value chainframework helps to build a relative
competitive advantage, together with Porter s competitive advantage thinking. The value chain
framework can be seen as one of two dimensions in maximizing corporate value creation.
The Competitive Advantage model of Porter portrays that competitive strategy is about taking
offensive or defensive action to create a defendable position in an industry, in order to cope
successfully with competitive forces and generate a superior return on investment. Competitive
advantage is created by using resources and capabilities to achieve either a lower cost structure or a
differentiated product. A firm positions itself in its industry through its choice of low cost or
differentiation. This decision is a central component of the firm s competitive strategy.
According to Michael Porter, the basis of above average performance within an industry is
sustainable competitive advantage.
There are two basics

The Election Year Is A Great Leader Of Our Country Essay
Every four years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, a Presidential Election is
held to determine who the new leader of our country will be. The election year is a very important
time; however, this year it is more crucial to cast your vote than previous years, simply because of
one particular candidate running must be prevented from becoming president. Most officials
running for this type of position are humans you can trust, believe in, and count on. However, the
particular candidate as mentioned earlier, Hilary Clinton, is not a person with these three qualities.
Not only can she not be trusted, believed in, or counted on, she is also a liar, a murderer, and a
manipulating nasty woman. Hilary has been the cause of many deaths, including those murdered in
Benghazi and trillions of abortions throughout the United States. She has been found guilty of
releasing thousands of confidential, government emails to the public, and she has no protection
plan for the safety of our country and our families against illegal emigration. These key points
should all influence American individuals to vote against Hilary Clinton, because she is the worst
candidate in America s voting history.
A lot of people don t educate themselves to learn about what is going on in our country. They don
t take the time to see for themselves who is involved in what and what decisions are being made
daily. They simply just live life oblivious to their surroundings, especially when it comes to

Democratic-Republican Party During The 1800 s
Democratic Republican Party being the best option during the 1800s
In order for the government to be felt as being dedicated to serve its citizens, then it simply means
that the party must have well stipulated manifestos which are achievable for the benefits of the
entire nation in the event that it has the ability to control the economy.
Democratic Republican Party:
Being the first opposition political party in the United States stands to be the best party to be
supported as their views were not intended to harbor aristocratic attitudes and their policies did not
placed too much power in the central government. In regard to this the democrats were totally
against the views of the federalist whose governance only intended to benefit the affluent

How Do Serial Killers Came From Nature Or Nurture
RBAA First Draft: Serial Killers
Serial killers have always fascinated society because no one knows how they come to be. People
tend to think that being a psychopath is the same as being a serial killer. The acts committed by
serial killers are too heinous and horrifying for a normal person to understand. Which is where
one of the theories of how serial killers came to be came from. Nature vs. Nurture has been a
topic of debate when it comes to serial killers for centuries. The debate is about whether genetics
or environment factors determine the behavior and personality of a person. Just like hair color is
determined by genetics, Those who argue genetics are the main factor in behaviour believe that
genetic determines a person s ability to take life without guilt or remorse. Those who are the
believers of nurture side disagrees by stating that environmental factors like family, faith, and
society regulate one s capability to take life without remorse. Society needs to refrain from
thinking that serial killers are born because they are made through psychological trauma caused by
abuse at an early age or brain damage.
Human behaviors are learned emotion through interaction with each other. A child s brain is like a
sponge. It absorbs the behavior of its surroundings. Serial killer s treatment and view of other
people is a learned behavior through interaction with others in society. The Bobo doll experiment
conducted by Albert Bandura in 1961 1963 at Stanford University shows how children s
behavior depends on adults that are around them. In the experiment, adults acted aggressively to
the Bobo doll and the study was on how the children will react to it after they saw the adults
interaction with the doll. Bandura conducted the experiment on two models where one of the
models contained children exposed to the aggressive act performed by the adult on the Bobo doll.
The other model contained children who saw adults act in a pleasant way to the doll. The result of
this experiment showed that children exposed to the aggressive model were more likely to act
physically aggressive than those who were not (McLeod). This study proved the social learning
theory which basically states that children learn behaviors from

There are many similarities and differences between cultures, but I am comparing my culture

born in Bessemer Alabama; however, he was not born into a privileged family. Nobody knew if
Bo would have a future, or if he was going to be alive at the age of twenty. Bo did not always

This quote says that it should be a requirement for athletes to give back and help the community
where they came from. I think that this is similar in both my culture and the culture in the book
because most people want and need to help out and give back. I often hear how athletes are
going to hospitals and making kids smile. I also hear how they are donating money for the
community. J.J Watt, an athlete of my culture, raised thirty seven million dollars for Hurricane
Harvey relief. James Harden, an athlete of the culture described in the book, donated one million
dollars to helpful Hurricane Harvey Relief. Athletes in both cultures give back, so shouldn t it be
an expectation for every athlete to give back. They have already succeeded, so they should try to
make their communities better to give others a better chance to make the world a better

Walmart s Reputation For Unfair Labor Practices
Walmart is the one of the biggest retailers in the United States and one of the foremost and
influential corporations in America. It has become one of America s most successful retail chains
by offering everyday goods at low prices for middle and lower class families. Even with all of its
financial success, the company cannot open a store without dealing with an abundance of protest
groups. Walmart always overcomes these groups, but nonetheless there is always opposition against
them. Walmart has had a reputation for unfair labor practices by refusing unionization, offering
really low wages, and discrimination. The protest groups defend local store owners, the
environment, employee salaries, and discrimination against various minority groups. Walmart
displays an image of being charitable and giving back to the community, but they are responsible for
unjust and discriminating actions in the United States. To maintain its low cost strategy, Walmart
has been involved in ethically questionable practices, including genderdiscrimination in promotion
and pay. While the Supreme Court recently ruled against class certification of 1.5 million women
in the Dukes v. Walmart case due to a lack of proof that Walmart operated under a general policy
of discrimination , there is much evidence that shows that gender discrimination is still a problem
rooted in the culture of Walmart, despite gender neutral policies (Biskupic, 2011). During the 1950
s and 60 s in northwest Arkansas, a

Abuse Of Afghanistan Women Essay
Wood 1 Afghanistan is a war torn country that has been plagued by death, turmoil, and terror. Ever
since the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December of 1979, the country has been an unstable
battlefield that has showed no remorse for any groups of people; especially women. The war zone,
known as Afghanistan, has affected women the worst out of all groups of people affected by the
many wars. From getting their rights to education, health, and careers taken away, to being treated
like a useless piece of trash, women have experienced a drastic amount of inequality, pain, and fear.

Although all types of abuse of Afghan women have been present since the 1980 s, the worst of it
has happened from 1996 to present time. The reason abuse of Afghan women has increased in a
worse way since 1996, is because that is when the infamous Talibangained power in Afghanistan.
The Taliban is a radical Islamic terror group that was founded and operated in Afghanistan. Ever
since the Taliban gained power in Afghanistan, women have received terrible forms of abuse that
is accepted in the eyes of the Taliban. In 2012, a former Afghan warlord admitted, Women were
treated like dogs in my province (Afghan. 1 2). Although the Taliban have been in power ever
since 1996, much of the abuse of Afghan women has happened very recently. In 2013, a United
Nations report claimed that there was a 20 percent increase in violence and mistreatment of women
in Afghanistan. The annual report on the Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts says more than
300 women were brutally killed and 560 injured

In The Late 1890S They Would Begin To Experiment With Gliders
In the late 1890s they would begin to experiment with gliders of their own. They knew they had
to master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of
their early ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were
not as different as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need
for lateral balance in a flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He
figured if they pilot could control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to
the machine. He would create an early sketch of it and basically is was a lever the would cause
one wing to go up and the other to go down in the opposite direction... Show more content on

They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In
their hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least.
Wilbur figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up
writing to an expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to
conduct his experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900
Wilbur had decided Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant
high wind speeds. When they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their
glider from back home. Initially they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was
working correctly and was safe for use. Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it
could sustain flight for as long as two minutes. This seemed like a major accomplishment but was
just the start of their goal. They were far from the first to achieve flight, but their wing and
elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them much needed practice in piloting a
flying machine most importantly. They would again take a break with their experiments after this
attempt and return a year later. This time they had built a second glider but it was much larger than
its predecessor. Though the size was impressive it turned out to be a failure. They did succeed in

Philip K. Dick s Influence On His Writings
Philip K. Dick an American author, most renowned for his works in science fiction, played a
crucial role in the development of the science fiction media industry today. His inspiration while
writing novels was unconventional, and ranged from visitations of a pink beam named 2 3 74, to
a special insight of a force outside of our universe which he referred to as Zebra. Philip K. Dick
had many influences on his writings such as drug use, Paranoid Personality Disorder, and
Schizophrenia. Dick s life left a massive impact on his writings and, throughout his novels, readers
are able to observe recurring apocalyptic like settings and the common theme of a totalitarian
government, which, together, create insightful social commentaries.
Philip K. Dick had several mental illnesses which had heavily influenced his writing. He often
reported recurring hallucinations of a pink beam along with other shapes and geometric patterns,
as well as claiming that he was living as a persecuted Christian in Rome named Thomas during the
first century AD (Aaronson). In addition to his mental illnesses, he had a history of drug use as
well as a struggle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

meanings of the human experience. Dick s claim of having contact with an outside force was
likely due to one of his several mental illnesses; however it did give him the motivation he needed
to continue writing. During the time of his newfound inspiration, he wrote some of his most
famous novels like The Man in the High Castle and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. The

Introduction to Management Organisations
*BUS1001 Introduction to Management Organisations E*ssay for Semester 1, 2008/9 According
to Pettinger (2002), management can variously be defined as a science, profession and art and its
status lies somewhere between the three with strong elements of each . Is management a
profession were you could qualify in like a doctor, is it science were there s only one best way to
manage (Bennet, Roger (1994)) or is it a skill/ personality in which a manager is has it in their

He believed increased production will eventually increase employees income (could use quote
here) and organisations profit margins, but in fact in long term future production could fall due
to employees felt dissatisfied and felt like machines. There jobs became repetitive and specialised
to specific jobs, with no team work, job rotation or social groups, which are argued the main
motivators in a workforce. At the time Taylor s theory was successful proved by when he tested at
manufacturing industry he found production increased by over 300% and wages increase by 60%,
which shows his ideas did indeed give efficiency. Evidence of Taylors method of management is
used to today is shown in organisations such as McDonalds and call centres. This showing that even
though its 94 years old theory its used in present time and that scientific management is not
overlooked by newer theories such as from the Human relations school and the contingency theory.
Although the contingency theory argues completely against Management as being referred to
science and especially Taylors one best way as contingency theory takes a situational (rather than a
one best way) view of organisation structure and managerial activity (Bowditch, J. and Buono, A

  • 2. Absence Of His Father In Booker T Washington The name Booker T. Washington is often closely associated with prestige and great success as a leader. However, before he was the man we know of today he came from a life of struggle and constant strife. Before he became an image of freedom and intelligence he had to endure not only conflicts externally for the color of his skin, but internally as well as he struggled to live his life accordingly without the proper guidance of a father. The autobiography Up from Slaverygives us a new perspective as the narrative tells the story of his life from slavery to becoming one of the founders of TuskegeeInstitute. Yet, a man with his reputation it would be virtually impossible to reach his stature without having some sort of guidance from mentors. Of course, throughout the narrative Washington acknowledges many people in his life who he considered to be a father figure , but due to the fact he was the son of a slave cook and a white man he never knew, there was never a true biological father son relationship in his life. This begs the question if the lack and absence of his own father shaped his own self perception, his relationship with others, as well as his leadership style? By analyzing excerpts and quotes within the literature piece one could conclude that the absence of his father is something Booker T. Washingtonhas come to terms with thus not placing heavy burden on his life style and choices. For example, a specific quote in the text shows how Washington does not put ... • 6. Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined wages and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the influence and power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the arbitration and conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has been consistent with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference) This has resulted in more employees not being covered by a form of representation which then in turn has initiated... The consequences of this Act favoured a formal system of agreement making, with awards becoming the minimum for conditions and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) becoming an independent tribunal to regulate these conditions. While individual agreements were limited because of the restraints of awards on common law contracts, enterprise bargaining gave businesses more opportunity to expand rules and decisions in workplaces were unions were weak (Reference). The legislation introduced instability of collectivism within the industrial relations system and provided the opportunity for individualism to develop and therefore for an employee voice (Reference). For an example, unfair dismissal under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and the Industrial Relations Act would have required an employee claiming unfair dismissal to be represented by a union. The provisions under the 1993 legislation have given individual employees the opportunity to initiate an unfair dismissal complaint without the representation of the ... Both Mandela and Beowulf display forgiving characteristics. Even after Mandela suffered twenty seven years imprisoned, he forgave those involved in his imprisonment, going as far as sharing his Nobel Peace prize with former and last president during the apartheid era, Frederik Willem de Klerk. Beowulf was also forgiving. In today s society, one is not actually paid more based on the economic importance of their occupation. Instead, those involved in the entertainment industry get paid larger salaries than those shaping the future. In the 1996 basketball season, Michael Jordan made 170,000 dollars a day, whereas an average teacher will only collect 40,000 dollars a year (Professional Athletes). Kiche faced unmanageable situations, but she still managed to survive. These are the most significant characters in White Fang that stood out to survive and become the fittest. The character White Fang demonstrates survival of the fittest through his many actions. First, White Fang was taught since youth to hunt for his own food. A couple years later, Kiche met up with White Fang and she did not recognize him because White Fang matured and looked older. Kiche s instinct was to claw White Fang because she thought he was trying to hurt her newborn cubs. (London, 134) This made White Fang and Kiche mentally stronger, so they could both move on with their new life. The first one is Gavotte , it is a French dance in a moderately quick quadruple meter, this formed one of the movements in the classical suite, usually following the saraband. Another Baroque dance is called Bourree , this dance is similar to gavotte; bourree starts on a different beat giving the dance a different feel, usually played at a moderate tempo. This dance can start on any beat, making it more enjoyable to dance to due to multiple beats. The last dance is Rigaudon this dance is a French dance similar to bourree, but has more of a rhythmic feel to it. During this period the church was also a big part in of the Baroque era. The church also started to get involved into the opera and instruments known as cantata. Singing in the church created a variety of voices known as soprano, alto, and many more. Poetry Analysis of Introduction to Poetry Poetry analysis of Introduction to Poetry The Poem Introduction to Poetry is by Billy Collins, an English poet, and it is about how teachers often force students to over analyze poetry and to try decipher every possible meaning portrayed throughout the poem rather than allowing the students to form their own interpretation of the poem based on their own experiences. Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear against its hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive of a bee. The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For instance, I say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic word, effectively suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed through the gentle p sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of the gentleness Billy Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry. The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or press an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial enjoyment one feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also emphasized through the fact that the poem is a free verse poem. The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how teachers, students or general readers of poetry torture a poem by being what he believes is cruelly analytical. He says, all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it . Here, the poem is being personified yet again and this brings about an almost human connection between the reader and the poem. This use of personification is effective as it makes the ... Frederick the Great of Prussia and Joseph II of Austria adopted the newfound ideas of the Enlightenment to different extents with Frederick the Great advancing the ideas by implementing religious toleration, freedom of speech and press, and setting a single code of laws for all of his subjects and not advancing them by not abolishing serfdom for fear of upsetting the Junkers , or Prussian nobility; Joseph II advanced the ideas of the Enlightenment eagerly by completely abolishing serfdom paying no heed to what it could cause socially and politically and he didn t advance these ideas in the end because his many reforms caused alienation of the church and nobility and radical changes in social hierarchy. Individuals grow with time, increased maturity, and life experience. Most importantly, students grow at their own pace. To extend this point, the theorists emphasize that with time, individuals learn to separate their beliefs from who they actually are. By doing so, they are able to recognize that the opinions of others are not definitive of who they are, resulting in an increased tolerance for and ability to understand others. In the words of Williams (2016), We move from being our relationships to having our relationships, from being our beliefs to having our beliefs, from being our identities to having our identities. • 26. The Tunnel By William Gass Some people believe that lies will always be bitter in the end, no matter how sweet you make them in the beginning. In William Gass The Tunnel, he expounds the validity of this belief by taking the reader on an emotionally evolving journey, as he recounts the self realization of a young boy, who s frightening lie unravels in front of not only his own eyes, but also the readers. Gass successfully enriches this story with striking imagery, symbolism, and comparisons; exposing how no matter how sweet you make a lie in the beginning, it will always turn bitter in the end. The first paragraph plays an imperative role in the excerpt, for it introduces the reader to the emotional despondency of the boy. William Gass successfully strikes the reader from the beginning, for his two word opening, lime slush (line 1), prompts the reader to not only envisage a lime slush, but also taste its sugary sweetness. However, the sweetness this imagery provides is short lasting, for they are soon bombarded with countless caesuras, as he describes how slush is supposed to be water. That s what slush is. It certainly isn t sherbet! It wasn t a nice green. And there didn t seem to be that much of it. (lines 2 3). The disappointment that entrenches the boy in these short but concrete statements, successfully introduces the reader to his emotional bitterness, for not even the lime slush s sweetness can sweeten it. The best and most costly form of mummification was a very lengthy and extensive process. This lengthy process took more than seventy days to complete. The first step was to draw out the brain through the nostrils. A long, slightly hooked tool was introduced into the brain through the nose, swirled around to liquefy the brain. The head was then tipped forward and all contents of the skull poured out, again through the nose. The next step was to remove the contents of the abdomen. Because of the intermarriage of the ancestral lines, the men on earth inherited great intelligence, being giants of mental power, and as the generations continued, became men of renown just as Lamech s children (Genesis 6:4). God was grieved that He had created man, and found it more merciful to destroy them than to allow the incredible sin to continue (Genesis 6:6 7). But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and we can see in chapter 5 verses 3 32 that he was directly related to Seth (Genesis 6:9). His family was chosen by God to be the line from which all generations would follow, and by this sparing Seth s lineage would be kept pure (Genesis 6:18). In chapter 6 verse 13, God states that He will destroy [the wicked] with the earth. The Hebrew word for with here can be translated as by , and by this we observe that the earth was wicked through them, and they will be destroyed by that which they corrupted (Genesis ... • 39. Persuasive Essay On Bullying When Will it Stop? What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school. The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives. Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it. They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to never come back to school or do something even worse. If the students who started the bullying were caught and suspended, less students would continue the bullying. They would see the consequences that a bully got and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Election Year Is A Great Leader Of Our Country Essay Every four years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, a Presidential Election is held to determine who the new leader of our country will be. The election year is a very important time; however, this year it is more crucial to cast your vote than previous years, simply because of one particular candidate running must be prevented from becoming president. Most officials running for this type of position are humans you can trust, believe in, and count on. However, the particular candidate as mentioned earlier, Hilary Clinton, is not a person with these three qualities. Not only can she not be trusted, believed in, or counted on, she is also a liar, a murderer, and a manipulating nasty woman. Hilary has been the cause of many deaths, including those murdered in Benghazi and trillions of abortions throughout the United States. She has been found guilty of releasing thousands of confidential, government emails to the public, and she has no protection plan for the safety of our country and our families against illegal emigration. These key points should all influence American individuals to vote against Hilary Clinton, because she is the worst candidate in America s voting history. • 43. How Do Serial Killers Came From Nature Or Nurture RBAA First Draft: Serial Killers Serial killers have always fascinated society because no one knows how they come to be. People tend to think that being a psychopath is the same as being a serial killer. The acts committed by serial killers are too heinous and horrifying for a normal person to understand. Which is where one of the theories of how serial killers came to be came from. Nature vs. Nurture has been a topic of debate when it comes to serial killers for centuries. The debate is about whether genetics or environment factors determine the behavior and personality of a person. Just like hair color is determined by genetics, Those who argue genetics are the main factor in behaviour believe that genetic determines a person s ability to take life without guilt or remorse. Those who are the believers of nurture side disagrees by stating that environmental factors like family, faith, and society regulate one s capability to take life without remorse. Society needs to refrain from thinking that serial killers are born because they are made through psychological trauma caused by abuse at an early age or brain damage. Human behaviors are learned emotion through interaction with each other. A child s brain is like a sponge. It absorbs the behavior of its surroundings. Serial killer s treatment and view of other people is a learned behavior through interaction with others in society. The Bobo doll experiment conducted by Albert Bandura in 1961 1963 at Stanford University shows how children s behavior depends on adults that are around them. In the experiment, adults acted aggressively to the Bobo doll and the study was on how the children will react to it after they saw the adults interaction with the doll. Bandura conducted the experiment on two models where one of the models contained children exposed to the aggressive act performed by the adult on the Bobo doll. The other model contained children who saw adults act in a pleasant way to the doll. The result of this experiment showed that children exposed to the aggressive model were more likely to act physically aggressive than those who were not (McLeod). This study proved the social learning theory which basically states that children learn behaviors from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Walmart s Reputation For Unfair Labor Practices Walmart is the one of the biggest retailers in the United States and one of the foremost and influential corporations in America. It has become one of America s most successful retail chains by offering everyday goods at low prices for middle and lower class families. Even with all of its financial success, the company cannot open a store without dealing with an abundance of protest groups. Walmart always overcomes these groups, but nonetheless there is always opposition against them. Walmart has had a reputation for unfair labor practices by refusing unionization, offering really low wages, and discrimination. The protest groups defend local store owners, the environment, employee salaries, and discrimination against various minority groups. Walmart displays an image of being charitable and giving back to the community, but they are responsible for unjust and discriminating actions in the United States. To maintain its low cost strategy, Walmart has been involved in ethically questionable practices, including genderdiscrimination in promotion and pay. While the Supreme Court recently ruled against class certification of 1.5 million women in the Dukes v. Walmart case due to a lack of proof that Walmart operated under a general policy of discrimination , there is much evidence that shows that gender discrimination is still a problem rooted in the culture of Walmart, despite gender neutral policies (Biskupic, 2011). They knew they had to master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of their early ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were not as different as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need for lateral balance in a flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He figured if they pilot could control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to the machine. He would create an early sketch of it and basically is was a lever the would cause one wing to go up and the other to go down in the opposite direction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In their hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least. Wilbur figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up writing to an expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to conduct his experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900 Wilbur had decided Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant high wind speeds. When they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their glider from back home. Initially they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was working correctly and was safe for use. Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it could sustain flight for as long as two minutes. This seemed like a major accomplishment but was just the start of their goal. They were far from the first to achieve flight, but their wing and elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them much needed practice in piloting a flying machine most importantly. They would again take a break with their experiments after this attempt and return a year later. This time they had built a second glider but it was much larger than its predecessor. Though the size was impressive it turned out to be a failure. They did succeed in getting it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
