Reflection Paper 1 Peter
1 Peter
When the first epistle of Peter was written, being a Christian was something that was very hard
to do. It was even difficult for the author because of the problems they faced. But as Christians, it
is our duty to do good things. Yes, we are not perfect, yes we all sin; but we try out best to do
what is right. Though sometimes bad things happen to good people. Look at Jesus. He did what was
right and abided by God and in the end, he got crucified.
We don t know why bad things happen sometimes but they do. We have no control over it. What
we do have control over is our actions and our choice to follow God s word. Jesus did what God
told him to do because he knew they he would be greatly rewarded. God approves when we do
good. For it is better to suffer for doing well than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3:17 says, 17 For it is
better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing than for evil doing .
Evil things come with bad consequences. God knows all and sees all, there is nothing that he
doesn t know. When you do right but suffer God will still bless you. He strengthens his people
by blessing them with hopes that they won t have to suffer. When this was writing the writer was
aware of all the dangers or troubles he may face. Not only did the writers know that they were in
danger but that their readers were in danger as well.
In this epistle, Peter refers to God as the living God. He describes him as the creator of all and all
powerful. He says that God is

Impact Of Insurance On The Health Insurance Market
Impact of employer provided health insurance on the health insurance market
Introduction
Health insurance has been a topic of discussion lately due to its impact on the nation s health status.
Recently, President Obama passed the health insurance reform so as to facilitate the accessibility of
health to the majority of the US citizens including the uninsured. In the US most of the
organizations both private and public have provided a medical cover for their employees and this
paper will discuss the impact of this provision on the economy based on the population health, the
impact on both private and public healthcare spending and finally the paper will focus on the
impact of employer health insurance on the future generation.
Economic impact on population health
Employer provided health insurance is an important tool for the economic growth of the
country as well as the promotion of the general public well being. First this form of insurance
provides psychological and physical well being of the employees health (Kim 19). When an
employee is provided with a health care cover they reduce the worries of what will happen if
they fall sick and this facilitate to being at peace which in turn increases the productivity of the
workers. When the employer provides a medical cover the employee is sure that he will receive
quality treatment whenever he is sick, also in case the employee falls sick he will receive health
care services as provided in his cover which will, in turn, lead

Analyzing the components of the psychoanalytic approach to personality

Analyzing the components of the psychoanalytic approach to personality Theories are analytical
tools for understanding, explaining, and making predictions about a given subject matter. One such
subject of much debate is the psychoanalytic theory. In order to grasp a hold of this intriguing
subject matter, one has only to examine the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung,
and Alfred Adler. The most notable of the three is Freud. It was Freud s pioneering use of the term
the I ( das Ich in his native German, which was then translated into the Latin ego ) that brought ego
into common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as Adler did, he struggled with Freud s insistence on the primacy of the sexual drive.
(Hollis, 2000) Later saying about Freud s psychology It was the explosion of all those psychic
contents which could find no room, no breathing space, in the constricting atmosphere of
Freudian psychology and its narrow outlook on sexual desire Jung broke with Freud to develop
his own school of psychology, which emphasized the interpretation of the psyche s symbols from
a universal mythological perspective rather than a personal biographical one. The psyche is not
of today, he asserts. Its ancestry goes back many millions of years. Individual consciousness is
only the flower and the fruit of a season. For Jung, the aim of life is to know oneself, and to know
oneself is to plumb the depths of the inchoate seas of not only the personal unconscious but the
collective unconscious as well. (Stein, 2000)
Agree or Disagree
Freud s delving into the memories, associations, and fantasies of a patient has merit in that it allows
the patient to observe past behavior and discuss possible actions to take in order to understand the
complexities of the patients own conduct. Adler s theory that human beings are fundamentally self
determined has value because it describes an individual s motivation to survive, yet his hypothesis
of human beings being whole and not a conglomeration of mechanism, drives, or dynamic

Diversity Management Strategies
Diversity management strategies
IBM diversity management within the work place
As explained by John (2011) IBM is the one of the biggest multinational company they are hires
more than 400,000 employees over 200 countries. They recruit scientists, sales professionals,
consultants and engineers. Even in the department level there are various background peoples
working together for achieve common goal. So the managing several background employees are
very important to increase productivity and team cohesiveness. . There are several measures that
have been taken by IBM relate to diversity management. Others are,
Ensure employees fully participate as partner
According to argument of Edwin (2008) The Company had six months global executive task force
which was establish in 1995 for equal facilitating to opportunities within the firm. Executive invite
all the group members to participate with them actively for showing a diversity difficulties or
challenges. This method is used at the small scale which can ensure the mutual trust, expectation,
diversity goals. This method is very good since it tells that organisation is like to take advices or
suggestions from the employee and considering playing a significant role in the decision making
process of the IBM. Further more employees have very good chance to develop or communicate the
executives face to face. That process makes employees and executives more understandable. This
understanding is simplifies the organisational

The Deregulation Act Of The United States
Paul Stephen Dempsey, the Hughes Research Professor of Law and Director of the
Transportation Law Program at the University Of Denver College Of Law, takes the speculation
on the cost to the ultimate level. Through his collection of data, he shows that although revenue
per passenger mile fell at 2.4% (1978 88) compared to 1.7% (1967 77), if the fuel prices are kept
constant, the fuel adjusted real yield shows that the prices were falling more rapidly at 2.7%
(1967 77) compared to 2.0% (1978 88). These figures proved that consumers were paying more in
1988 then what they would have paid with regulation in effect.
Surprisingly enough, the corroboration that the real cost has not declined after the act does not
relate to airlines profit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Kathy suggests, safety can be mainly evaluated through the airport funding and fleet age. A
quote from her article reveals the concerns at airport funding: The general Accounting Office
says the country spends $3 billion less per year on airport infrastructure than is needed to keep
up with the increased demand for air travel. This under level funding may mainspring airports to
function clumsily, and may be the root for the air traffic controllers experiencing significant
system failures (Koch). Such failures have led to near misses. The supplementary salient aspect
of safety the fleet age has also seen a degradation. One of the graphs shows that the Average Age
of Fleet in the US is much higher than the planes flown by other industrialized nations (Koch).
The decrepit planes have elevated prospects of getting technical problems that could cost
numerous lives. Dempsey presents a table accounting the fleet age of different American airlines
in his article to substantiate how sharply it has escalated after the act. Following closely is given a
table of Number of Mechanics per Aircraft that reflects a drastic shrink in numbers for most
airlines (except Northwest, Pan Am, and United) (Flying Blind). The reduced number of
technicians per aircraft results in lesser care for the aircraft that might lead to accidents. This
makes it clear that airlines are putting passenger safety at risk to increase their profits.

How Does Henry Longfellow Establish The Nature Of Life
Through the use of poetic devices Henry Longfellow establishes the nature of life, and the
purpose of life in the poem The Psalm of Life . The poet utilizes poetic devices to establish the
nature of life. Henry Longfellow uses a variety of poetic devices to establish the purpose of life.
Mostly Longfellow uses analogies in combination with symbols in order to establish the purpose
of life. Henry Longfellow crafts his understanding of life through poetic devices used by the
speaker. The speaker utilizes poetic devices in order to establish the nature of life. Through the
allusion to the Bible passages when talking about the mournful numbers the speaker establishes that
life has a purpose. The speaker asks that life is not described as an empty dream, establishing the
fact that life has purpose and those who state... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker uses simile to compare a person to dumb, driven cattle, in order suggest that many
people follow the mass instead of forming their own path. Through the personification of the Past
, the speaker states that people should not dwell on the past Let the dead Past bury its dead (22).
Through the use of the metaphor of footprints on the sands of time the speaker establishes the
fact that humans leave behind themselves a path for others to follow And, departing, leave
behind us/ Footprints on the sands of time (27 28). The footprints are a symbol of the impact a
person leaves on the world. The speaker uses a metaphor of a forlorn shipwrecked brother who
upon seeing the footprints in the sands of time will take up his heart, suggesting that a person s
achievements help those in trouble find their way. The speaker personifies the heart by giving it a
necessity to be ready for any fate, implying that people should be accepting of all change With a
heart for any fate (34). Through analogies and symbols Longfellow establishes the purpose of

Facebook’s Non-Compliance with Canadian Privacy Laws
The world of privacy has changed, and Canada s laws need to keep up. Personal information has
been called the oil of the digital economy and as companies drill for more data, the risk to
privacy are growing exponentially. After an investigation conducted in 2009 prompted by a
complaint filed from the Canadian Policy and Public Interest Clinic, the Office of the Privacy
Commissioner has concluded that Facebook s current practices of third party applications do not
comply with Canadian Privacy Laws. The Commissioner s concerns include inadequate disclosure
to users about what is being disclosed, lack of consent, and lack of control over personal
information with third party developers. With these findings, the Commissioner has proposed
several recommendations for Facebook to take on, however the company has refused to comply. In
this paper I will argue that the Office of Privacy Commission requires stronger enforcement powers
in ordering Facebook to change its third party application practices in order to effectively protect
consumers personal information. We live in a regulatory state. The idea of the regulatory state is
that a new institutional and policy style has emerged, in which governments role as regulator
advances while its role as a direct employer or property owner may decline through privatization
Consumers are currently protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic
Documents Act dealing with the personal information under the private

The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless...
The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine
microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1.
FeTi intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion
bonding of Ti based and Fe based alloy[1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current
study was similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by
Orhan et al. [30]. A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region.
We hypothesize that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in
thermal properties between the two materials. Similar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were
similar to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in
CoCrMo Ti64 compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was
also processed via LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely
spherical as opposed to the earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such
difference is hypothesized due to availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried
out for a longer time and hence there is more diffusion across the interphase where as the
LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process. The bright regions along the interphase observed
are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on the EDS mapping and published literature data
[18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti, NiTi, Ti2Ni and ОІ Ti. Further investigation
is needed to confirm different phase formation in these layers.
EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into
Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents
Ti from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based
intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the
bond strength of the joint [2, 3, 5].

Helicopter Parent And I Don T Apologize Analysis
It s true that different parents have distinct parenting styles. Each child must be disparate from
another due to cultural background and upbringing. Three major parenting styles that have been
around are tiger, helicopter, and free range parenting. In tiger parenting, parents are strict, while
in free range it is just the opposite, parents let loose and let their children be who they are and
allow them to take risks. The article I am a helicopter parent, and I don t apologize by Elizabeth
Fairfield Strokes is an epitome of helicopter parentingand what goes on in a mind of helicopter

Being too strict to a child can result in distant relationship between a parent and a child, and
being uninvolved can also have the same effect or worse. Having a healthy relationship with the
child asks parents to develop an amiable nature and an open mind when it comes to parenting.
Get involved with children s lives enough to help and guide when needed. Helicopter parenting
would benefit in ample ways, in a child s upbringing, perspective, outlook, social behavior, and it
will help developing a healthy and friendly relationship between the parents and the child. It is
better for children to run to their parents every time they need a piece of advice rather than going
to a stranger looking for help, because no matter what, parents will always want the best for their
children and would guide them appropriately. Even though some believe that helicopter parenting

The Pathology of Whitenes in Pym, by Mat Johnson
Mat Johnsons novel, Pym challenges readers not only to view his work with a new set of eyes but
also the work of all American literature with the understanding that the idea of Whiteness still has a
very strong power over literature today. It is unfortunate that in today s society, the pathology of
Whiteness still holds a very strong presence in literary world. Literature from American authors
versus literature from African Americanauthors still continues to be segregated and handled with
two different sets of criteria. Johnson s novelengages in different aspects of the argument presented
in Toni Morrison s work entitled Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination. One
of the main ideals that Pym engages in is the thought... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he meets the man hired to be replacement at the bar the young man expresses to him that
he plans to join the diversity committee to make a difference. Jaynes replies to him saying You re
not fighting Whiteness, you re feeding its perversion (20). While some feel as though things such
as diversity committees are put into place to help erase the racial lines that divide American
cultures, if these committees prove to be stagnate and unproductive they are really just keeping
the systems segregated. It is easy to say that you have a diversity committee but if it is not actively
trying to fight against segregation and focusing on all Americans being viewed as one instead of as
different subsets, the committee becomes useless. Instead of the diversity committee representing
change, it is aiding in pathology of Whiteness. Johnson takes Morrison s argument past simply
identifying that Whiteness is still very much dominate in literature today and focuses on ways that
we are still helping it to exist. He challenges the reader to identify the roles they are taking in
keeping this impenetrable whiteness alive and helps them see that they are too affected by the
pathology of Whiteness. Johnson challenges the readers by addressing the very thing that they do
to try to make a change is what is holding

Lee Harvey Oswald Was Not the Lone Assassin
Lee Harvey Oswald Was No Loner On November 22nd, 1963, President John F. Kennedy (JFK)
was shot and killed in a motorcade running through Dealy Plaza, in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after, a
man by the name of Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested and charged with the murder of President
Kennedy. Over the years there has been much controversy over if Lee Harvey Oswald was in
fact, the only man involved in the assassination of JFK. The assassination is still a topic of debate
to this day and has spawned many conspiracy theories. At the time, there was little persuasive
evidence to prove that Oswald was involved in any sort of conspiracy to assassinate the president,

Although Ruby claims to have murdered Oswald as revenge for killing President Kennedy, most
people believe it was part of a cover up for a much larger conspiracy. After Ruby s arrest, he was
sentenced to death, only to have his trials postponed and die of lung cancer shortly after
postponing the trial. While Oswald was in interrogation, he changed his story many times when
asked routine questions such as where were you at the time of the shooting , or explain to us
what you did the day of the assassination . He also denied any involvement in the incident even
though there was evidence against him. Oswald was bound to face further, more intense
interrogation in the future, and this is the reason most people believe that assassination of
Oswald was to prevent him from talking about what actually happened in the Kennedy
assassination. There were also many strange reports of President Kennedy s brain being
switched from when it was seen in evidence, to when the autopsy was performed. There were
pictures of Kennedy s brain for evidence showing immense damage to the rear, consistent with an
exit wound and therefore evidence of a shot from the front. Meanwhile, the autopsy brain did not

My Trip To Lake Tahoe Changed My Life
When I graduated in June of 2014 I really wasn t sure what I wanted out of life. I was prepared to
go to the local community college undecided. I was dragging my feet when it came to getting
ready to start school in the fall, and I knew I wasn t ready. I approached my mom with the idea of
flying out to California and get to know my familyand grandparents there better. 3 weeks later I
was on a planeflying to Sacramento, as all my friends began their freshman year of college. I ll
admit it was tough to see all my friends take the next step in life and I was a couple thousand
miles away with nothing planned out. I decided to take that weekend and head to Lake Tahoe. It
literally was a breath of fresh air for me. I was at (debatably) the most beautiful lake on earth.
Things seemed clearer to me after that trip and I was able to remind myself that not everyone

with Schizophreniaencounter sensory experiences without sensory stimulation. In some episodes,
the person may taste, fell, or see things that are not really there. These disorganized thoughts cause

Those Winter Sundays Figurative Language
In the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, is about a man looking back on his
childhood experience, and relationship with his father. The father of this man was the type of
person to do arduous labor, and be unacknowledged for it. Although the father deserved to not be
acknowledged because he only went through this labor for his obligation and expectations to do so,
not out of love, compassion, nor alacrity of any kind. He was an austere, anodyne, and abusive
father but, his son still believes he could have been a better son by behaving more appropriately,
and giving him at least a time where someone recognized and acknowledged his efforts through
gratitude. The son thought that if he did so, then things between them may have been better.

Political organization in China
Dynasty rise and falls characterized China s ancient political organizations (Kissinger Henry 88).
The dynasty era began during the Xia dynasty in around 2100 1600 BC and ended when the
Republic of China government was formed in the year 1949. Their political organization was
hereditary, hence the name dynasty. This meant that when the king or the emperor died the
succession for the throne would occur in the same family line; mainly from father to son. There
were some occasions, however, when a non blood relative would assume the leadership positions.
Nevertheless, this was in very rare instances. This kind of political organization and ruling to some
extent might have promoted unity of the various kingdoms as per the time; although this was not
always the case. There are some instances when the country Kingdom split and later merged again
through conquests and war.
The ancient China was characterized by many dynasties (Kissinger Henry 72). The Xia dynasty
was the first. The Shang dynasties succeed the Xia dynasty (1600 1046). Then there was the Zhou
Dynasty. It was followed by the

opinions on such a controversial topic as Freedom of the press, or Freedom of Speech. Many nations
today believe that very strict and regulated system of governing the media and entertainment is the
best answer, such as China, where censorshipwas considered a legitimate instrument for regulating
the moral and political life of the population (Mette), but this method of governing has a major flaw.

Mitchell Palmer, the United States attorney general under President Woodrow Wilson, the
Espionage Act essentially made it a crime for any person to convey information intended to
interfere with the U.S. armed forces prosecution of the war effort or to promote the success of
the country s enemies (History). While it is a bad idea for the government to have the power to
censor any type of media or speech, it can be necessary in times of war, due to the fact that if a
large enough amount of US citizens are persuaded by a form of media to not support the war, focus
could be lost and so could the country as a whole. Congress found this so important that they passed
another law, the Sedition Act of the following year, which imposed similarly harsh penalties on
anyone found guilty of making false statements that interfered with the prosecution of the war;
insulting or abusing the U.S. government, the flag, the Constitution or the military; agitating
against the production of necessary war materials; or advocating, teaching or defending any of
these acts (History). These acts are meant to be used in time of war to prevent the loss of support
and prosecute anyone who tries to aid the enemy from within the US.
An excellent example of the Espionage act being used is the court case Schenck v. United States in
1919 it, was the first Supreme Court case to test whether First Amendment protections of free

Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking
The United Nation s convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) categorically states that
anyone under the age of 18 is defined as a child with an exception, under the law applicable to the
child, the majority is attained (NSPCC, 2018).
Children rights is a huge factor which doesn t just affect just our society but in fact the entire
world and there are constant cases of children rights being breached and abused. This needs to
come to a stop as this is a horrific chapter in children s lives which can leave them in such
horrible states and possibly loss of life. I have chosen child trafficking because it is in my opinion
the most horrific crime that is unfortunately committed across the world and is constantly ongoing
and as corrupt, disgusting and inhumane as it is we remain to have large groups of children deal
with this lifestyle all their lives (Children s Rights, 2013).
Worldwide statistics reveal that each year around 150 million girls and 73 million boys are victims
of sexual abuse, (WHO, 2018). Human trafficking is without doubt part of the statistic which
causes unspeakable abuse on children and it is driven by profit from criminal business that stacks
in a lot of profit reaching almost billion dollars. One of the countries that have a huge problem with
child abuse is Thailand. In 2004, studies suggest that over eight hundred thousand child prostitutes
in Thailand are under the age of sixteen. Furthermore, in more recent studies it shows that 30 to 40

Vietnam War Swot Analysis
Introduction As the war between North and South Vietnam continued, countless lives were lost and
doubt grew among the American population, it was concluded that something must be done to
prevent further loss to the United States (US). Vietnam had become a stalemate and it was obvious
that it was time for the US to end its involvement in the action. The time came for a major operation
that would demonstrate the Army of the Republic of Vietnams (ARVN) potential to defend their
nation without the aid of the US forces and advisors. They needed an operation that would boost the
morale of the South Vietnamese troops, and one that would ultimately give the US fighting forces
the opportunity to leave Vietnam. It was called Lam Son 719.... Show more content on

The Importance Of Sustainable Development Goals
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are global initiatives in which countries all over the
world are entitled towards achieving. Out of the 17 SDGs, Sustainable goal number 5 takes about
the achievement of gender equality (Kumar Vivekadhish, 2016). Gender issues have always been
experienced ever since the beginning of man. Women do not have the same rights and
opportunities as men in society and this why this goal number 5 was developed. Egypt, a North
African country, has yet to fully attain this SDG. The following study will discuss some of the
challenges in which Egypt as a nation is facing towards the achievement of this goal. The paper
will also outline some solutions in which Egypt has adapted and solutions that can be used to
achieve this goal. Gendershould be perceived on a spectrum, not as two opposing sets of ideals.
Challenges
1. There are several challenges in which Egypt as a country is facing concerning the implementation
of this sustainable development goal. Most of these challenges are highly related to the culture.
Egyptians still follow the ancient Egypt lifestyle. The first major challenge presents itself as a
result of lack of education. Most women and girls in Egypt are denied the right to education. They
have a low literacy: 65% literacy for women vs 82% of males (Gender Equality and Women s
Empowerment | Egypt, n.d). Access to education among girls has been restricted thus making it
difficult for the girl to understand the importance of it

Your Vocabulary Tonight . Bud Light released this slogan because they started a campaign
#Upforwhatever in May 2012 (Brown, 2016). The campaign was advertised and geared towards the
younger generation to try new things. The movement of this campaign was to encourage people to
get out of their personal bubble and try new adventure. This was geared towards the younger
generation because that is who Anheuser Busch wanted to target because that generation can afford
to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer and would not break the bank for college students. Another reason
that Anheuser Busch wanted to target that generation because they are all on social media and
advertising is shifting that way. The #Upfowhatever movement was to gain new business through

Symptoms And Treatment Of Vascular Closure
Background
Vascular closure devices following cardiac catherization through the femoral artery have been
gaining significant traction since its use in the mid 1990s. Compared to the previous gold standard
of manual compression, VCDs allow for shortened time to ambulation, decreased duration of
hospitalization post procedure, and increased patient comfort. The devices have also shown
safeness comparable to manual compression. Despite the many advantages and variety of devices
available, there are still complications to take into account. More common issues include device
failure, bleeding, and hematoma. Less common but more serious complications include infection,
ischemia, limb loss, and death.

physical exam patient had absent pulses below the right femoral artery. However, there was no
discoloration, change of temperature, or sensory as well as motor deficits of the right lower
extremity. Patient was taking a low dose aspirin and red yeast rice for cholesterol management at
that time.
The following morning the patient underwent successful angioplasty of the right common femoral
artery with thrombectomy and a 6 x 20 mm balloon angioplasty, reducing a 90% stenosis to less
than 30%. A spider catheter was deployed to perform the thrombectomy, however an atrial blazer
catheter failed to retrieve the spider device as it was unable to completely collapse. As a result the
patient was taken to the OR for vascular surgery. The spider basket was retrieved through the wall
of the common femoral artery with its contents.
The specimen was sent to pathology, which noted a foreign body device surrounded by soft tissue
attached to the spider device. The foreign body was noted to be a Angio Seal plug from the left heart
catheterization that had been presumed a thrombus.
Discussion
Promising results have shown that the Angio seal VCD has excellent efficacy and safety after
routine catheterization and intervention. However, clear indications of use and risk of
complications need to be evaluated and monitored.

Overconsumption Of Antibiotics
Why does the over prescription of antibiotic medication lead to a negative economic and societal
outcome?
Increasing bacterial resistance to antibiotic treatments has become a worldwide issue over the
last 20 years as consumer and general practitioner s incentives for a quick fix to minor illnesses
have caused a negative externality for the consumption of antibiotics. A negative externality in this
example is when a third party, in this case, society as a whole, is adversely affected by the
overconsumption of antibiotics, due to greater bacterial resistance, causing more advanced diseases
that pose a greater risk to the health of a society. The roles played by consumers, doctors and
pharmaceutical manufacturers will be discussed in detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most antibiotics require a prescription from a medical professional such as a general practitioner or
specialist. According to research published in the Medical Journal of Australia during 2017: GP s
have been prescribing antibiotics nine times more often than what the guidelines state. Doctors, like
consumers, are driven by their own incentives. There is a strong incentive for GP s to prescribe
antibiotics to patients which may not necessarily require them, due to the pressure on a doctor s
time to attend to as many patients as possible. Therefore, doctors can be incentivised to undertake
the simplest solution, rather than sacrifice the amount of patients that they see in order to explore
other methods of treatment. Doctor s incentives tend to be skewed towards offering treatment to
patients, rather than focusing on decreasing the big picture societal negative externality. Another
example of an externality on the healthcare system is that amplified antibiotic resistance increases
medical costs, as more expensive, potent antibiotics are required to combat stronger bacteria and
infections.
In the United States, Pharmaceutical companies spend over $1 billion each year on direct to
consumer advertising for antibiotic prescriptions, shifting away from traditional advertisements for
physicians in medical journals, towards newspapers and consumer magazines. This marketing
strategy has bolstered consumer demand hugely and it poses a problem, as consumers are now
heavily swayed by private institutions who have their own incentive for maximizing profits.
In order to combat the issues discussed in this essay, a potential solution involves the
implementation of economic incentives for drug manufacturers, consumers and doctors, employed
by policy

Historical Accuracy Of La Amistad
Amistad is a movie depicting the real events concerning the Spanish slave ship, La Amistad, in
1839. The movie starts off with Cinque, one of the slaves, breaking free from his shackles, and
leading a revolt on the ship. The slaves kill all the crew except for two people, and demand that
they be sailed back to Africa. The Spanish sailors agree, but they deviously sail the ship to America.
When the ship reaches the United States, the slaves are put in jail, and are going to be tried in
court for murder of the ships passengers and sent to Spain. However, the slaves are defended by
Roger Baldwin, and later John Quincy Adams. Practically everyone is against the slaves and the
government tries to make it harder for the slaves to win the case. The case eventually reaches the
supreme court, and despite much controversy and refutation, the supreme court decides that the
slaves are to be set free and sailed back to Africa.
Overall, the major plot points in the film are historically accurate. For example, the first scene in
the movie, which depicts the slaves revolting and taking over the ship, is more accurate than not.
According to Swanson (1998):
On June 30 Cinque incited the slaves to revolt at sea, killing the captain and cook and taking
prisoner their owners, two merchants named Ruiz and Montez. Cinque tried to force Montez to
pilot the vessel to Africa, but Montez reversed the course repeatedly, zigzagging up the North
American coast. They were captured off Montauk Point, Long Island, by the U.S. Coast Guard
vessel Washington and were brought to New London, where the ship, cargo, and rebellious slaves
were claimed for salvage money, while Ruiz and Montez sought to regain possession of them.
(para. 3)
This is what is depicted in the film. The slaves take over the ship and kill the captain, and only
leaving the two merchants, Ruiz and Montez. The film also showed the two merchants reassuring
the slaves that they are going back to Africa, but changing the direction of the course several times,
ultimately ending up in the United States. The film shows exactly what happened on the real ship.
Another accurate detail from the movie is the treatment of slaves aboard La Amistad. In the film, the
slaves underwent vile

Analysis Of Jane Austen s Persuasion
Perfection in Austen s Persuasion Jane Austen is know for writing sympathetic but realistically
flawed female characters. Elizabeth Bennet is witty but prideful, Emma Woodhouse is well
meaning but frightfully un observant, and overcoming these flaws is what drives these characters
arcs throughout their respective books. Yet in Austen s novel
, Persuasion, at first, Anne Elliot seems
as if she is the perfect woman. She is a woman of birth, beauty, and mind, (Austen 20), she
manages to be liked by nearly everyone she meets, and she was the only one to keep a calm head
when Louisa fell in Lyme (79). However ideal she may seem though, she is not flawless. Anne

Captain Wentworth by suggesting that she herself will look after the child (41). Anne does not
challenge Mary s poor behavior even when it is blatantly selfish and even compromises with her
in order to further avoid a different type of confrontation. This is not the only time that one of
Anne s family members acts disagreeable in such an obvious fashion. Her father s character is
so shallow that he only cares about looks and rank (4), rarely acts in a way that is not displeasing
or ridiculous to the reader, and has overspent all of his money and is now in debt (8). Austen
even states that Sir. Walter has no affection for Anne, (175) his own daughter. He goes so far as
to make fun of the appearance of a man who served in the navy (15). We as the reader can see that
Sir. Walter has no redeemable qualities, and yet Anne does not stand up to him when he disproves
of her engagement with Wentworth when she is younger (20). Austen does say that, it might have
been possible to withstand her [Anne s] father s ill will, (21) and it is ultimately Lady Russel that
convinces Anne to sever the relationship, but young Anne never tries to defend herself against Sir

Cuneiform Vs Hieroglyphics
Cuneiform and hieroglyphics were both writing systems that emerged at the dawn of humanity, but
their legacy and impact were vastly different. The two systems not only demonstrate the early
concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism,
internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another,
but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of
civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and
other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been
present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on

But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of
the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems
contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply
because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it.
Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer
to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times,
sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing
systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to
teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system
that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the
fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and
hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked
poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing
systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the

The Fashion Design Of Chanel
It has been over a century since Mademoiselle Chanel, determined to reform the concept of
femininity as much in style as in the essence, commissioned the chemist Ernest Beaux to develop
what will become the symbol of international perfumery. Chanel No. 5 is unquestionably the most
legendary ever made fragrance, described as an opera of olfactory art. Independent, unconventional,
and provocative, CocoChaneltransformed her unfamiliar name into an obligatory reference point
for fashion design of the twentieth. As an icon of female strength, she translates the complexity and
elegance that characterize the woman, with the creation of what would become the scent par
excellence. Her way of conceiving the perfumeis peculiar. When asked where to put the perfume
she replies: A woman should wear a fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed ( A Woman ). Coco
also launches what turned out, according to the instructions of the designer, had to embody a
concept of femininity timeless, unique, and fascinating. The avant garde idea of Chanel breaks
every scheme imagining her fragrance for a modern and independent woman, far from the
stereotype that envisages she should perfume of roses. Hence, Chanel No. 5 is the first perfume that
rejects the convention and symbolizes the technological and cultural innovation, furthering the
women s empowerment.
Chanel No. 5 is a concentration of absolute femininity that shook the world of fragrances forever
with an abstract composition of 80

The Progressive Era In America In The 1920 s
The Progressive Era in America lasted from the 1890 s to the 1920 s. During this time, The United
States underwent several changed, or reforms. These reforms helped to shape our nation into what
it is today. There are 10 reforms I m going to discuss in this essay including the reforms on civil
rights, conservation, government reform, health and medicine, labor reform, radical trade
unionism, socialism, temperance, trust busting, and women s rights. The Civil Rights reform was
perhaps one of the most important reforms and had since been expanded upon greatly. During this
time slavery had recently been abolished but racism still plagued our nation. African Americans
could not vote, and were completely separate from whites. The Civil Rights reform... Show more

The temperance reform. The government blamed everything bad that happened on the use of
alcohol. So, they banned the manufacture, transportation, and selling of alcohol. This never really
worked though. There were hundreds if not thousands of people who distilled their own alcohol,
usually called moonshine, and sold it themselves. This is where the term bootlegging comes in.
Bootlegging by definition is the making, selling, or distribution of illicit products such as liquor
illegally. Although this reform has since been changed back, moonshine is still mostly illegal. This
reform edited the 18th

Walls In Into The Wild
Walls are built to keep things out. Walls are also built to keep things within a designated area.
Much like the wall s structural cousin, the fence, they serve a myriad of purposes across the
eons of history. Some may even claim that they have a yuge impact on our societies. Jon
Krakauer inadvertently explores the internal walls we build to contain our deepest fears,
insecurities and aspirations while he researches the demise of Chris Mccandless in his non fiction
piece titled Into The Wild. Sean Penn does likewise in his adaption of the book to film. Like many
people, Chris had built a wallto protect himself from the traumas of his childhood and fears of the
world around him. Believe Chris; he knew walls better than anybody, for he lived within the thin
walls of a bus in the middle of nowhere for 114 days. However the Alaskan wilderness was not...

The scene includes Chris teasing Franz, calling him an old man who sits around all day. Franz
denies these charges and overcomes the limits imposed by his aging body to chase Chris up a
sand dune. Franz is never described or portrayed as a man who leaves the house much so his
time alone with Chris definitely shows that his true nature is caring and fatherly. Chris himself
barely shows much attraction to others, even the fictional girl he meets in Slab City in the film,
but shows great affection for Franz before he departs for Alaska. However the reason that this
scene does more harm than good to the narrative is that it leads to nowhere. There is no impact of
his departure portrayed on screen since Chris just marches away into the sunset. More justice could
have been shown to Franz as he comes closest to the idea that one only truly knows themselves
when they are out of their comfort zone since Chris is too sucked into his own romanticised ideals
to reflect this sentiment

The Temptations Social Influence On Pop Culture
The Tempting Temptations With classy dance moves, creative costumes, and smooth vocals, the
Temptations were a popular music group during the 1960s. The small group from Detroit had a
huge impact on modern society from addressing social issues such as racial injustice, to
revolutionizing rhythm and blues music. As a group of five young men, the Temptationsbegan their
careers in Motown music where they became an influential quintet that changed the music and
culture of the 1960s.
Members of the Temptations
Over time, members of the Temptations changed and evolved, with many diverse musicians coming

later said that learning an Atkins dance routine for a new act might take two or three weeks of

The Criminal Justice System And Psychology Essay
I WANT TO BECOME A CRIMINAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND THIS IS WHAT I LEARNED
Madelynn Krutsinger
Introduction
I m double majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology because further down the road in my
life I would love to be a Criminal Psychologist. I choose these fields because I love being able to
understand why people do what they do. I want to understand why people do things a certain way,
just looking at it in a psychological kind of way. Especially with criminals, what led them to murder
that guy or rape that girl? What pursued them and what part of them thought that it would be
acceptable?
I really enjoy the concepts of the criminal justice system and how it works. I grew up in a family
that revolved around emergency units, ranging from EMTS, AEMTS, Prison Guards, Nurses, Police
Officers and so forth. Being around that at the time gave me a love for the field. Understanding
the codes, the high pace calls, honestly, even the hours. I fell in love with the idea of being able
to make a difference in people s lives, and for example, if I was going to be a police officer that
is what I would do. Originally I had planned to go to Waldorf University and major in criminal
justice to become a police officer. I saw many two faced/unreasonable officers throughout my
years of growing up that I wanted to do something different. I remember hearing about the cases on
tv and thinking, hey, I can make a difference. I wanted to become a police officer to show people

The Roman emperors were obsessed with pleasing the people with exciting new displays. Due to
that obsession, Exotic animals such as rhinos, lions, elephants, lynxes, ostriches, hippos, crocodiles
and countless other animals where often exhibited in the games. over five thousand lions, bears,
crocodiles, and tigers were slaughtered in the games on a single day in AD 50. Furthermore, the
games got so extreme that entire species of animals were depleted, and entirely wiped off the face
of the earth.
Animals where commonly starved, and purposely enraged in order to make them more likely to
fight to the death. One historic match was won by an elephant, when it seized a broken spear head
with his trunk, and then used it to gouge out the eye of the rhinoceros it was fighting. Animals
weren t always pitted against each other though, sometimes the entire arena would be turned into a
forest instead, and citizens were invited to openly hunt the ostriches and turkeys that were released
into the grounds of the arena.
Other fights included reenactments of famous battles, sometimes if the crowd was lucky, they
would have the opportunity to witness a naval reenactment. Historians theorize that the arena was

Vladimir Putin And President Putin
President Vladimir Putin, current president of Russia, is currently serving his second term. His
first presidential term was from 2000 2008. He previously served as Prime Minister of Russia
from 1999 2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial
reputation, not just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President
Putin is often criticized for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world
leaders. To some, he is considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is
fairly popular, having high and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz,
Bill. Putin Corruption Network Revealed ). Many Russian experts have believed Putin has
abused his power in trying to improve the Russian economy. He has been suspected to have
collected a fortune worth at least an estimated $28 billion from projects like construction during
the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics games. He has also been suspected of holdings in Russian real
estate and energy conglomerates, and kickbacks from deals with associates going all the way
back to the late 1990s (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network Revealed ). It is obvious that Sochi
was more than just a sporting event to Putin and the Kremlin, but it was a blend of politics and
performance. Putin desired to show the world that it was open, but what he was trying to show was
unclear.

Persuasive Essay About White Water Rafting
An hour in and I absolutely regret my decision to go white water rafting. I went on vacation with
my boyfriend Mitchell s family to Colorado. We stayed in a large condo that was located in
Colorado Springs. We had places to go every day and today we decided to go white water rafting.
There was eight of us that went, Gene, Lori, Andrew, Mitchell, Shane, Jenna, Trenna, and I. It was
an early morning, we had to get up at 6:00 am to drive to Royal GorgeRafting. We packed into the
minivan we rented and started the long drive.
We got to Royal Gorge Rafting and I was beyond excited. We got all of our gear on, helmet,
lifejacket, and water shoes, and were ready to go. You had to take a yellow school bus, which
smelled like old leather, to get to the Arkansas river. My group and four other groups piled into
the bus. When we got to the river, the river guides explained what would happen if we fell out of
the raft. They also explained how to get people out of the river if it were to happen. I never
thought I would have to worry about falling out. We stepped in the raft and started drifting down
the river when Shane discovered water was leaking and there was bubbling coming from the
side of the raft. We discovered there was a hole in the side and Lori started freaking out like it
was the end of the world. Our raft guide sealed the hole with duck tape and we continued on down
the river. The river split into two paths one took you to a waterfall and one kept you on the path to

Ethical Dilemma Reflection
Reflective Essay Ethical Dilemma and Decision Making When asked to reflect on an ethical
dilemma that I faced in life, it really makes me think of all the possible situations that happened
in my personal and professional life. There are several instances where I have faced ethical
dilemma but I wish to point out to one such instance that I encountered at my workplace where I
was able to take decision based on my conscience and I feel I have made the right choice and
below is the reflective account of that incident.
Situation: I started working for a large IT outsourcing company right after my graduation for a
period of 3 years. After a year, I had my long term friend joining the same company and it ever
happened that she joined my team as my subordinate for the same project. Since it is a software
based company, we usually work in teams and each of our work is made systematic in a way that
each and every team member s work is interrelated. After a period of time my friend who was also
my subordinate at work started abusing her flex time at work and was taking time off because her
kid fell sick often.
Since we work in a team to meet the end results of our business client, we expect each team
member to deliver his/ her work without any down time. I did insist her several times to ... Show

Liver Detox Essay
Adrenal fatigue and liver congestion typically go hand in hand. Additionally, they both impact the
functioning of other hormone producing organs, including the ovaries. Women who have adrenal
fatigue and liver congestion frequently also suffer from ovarian hormone imbalance. Adrenal
fatigue is a condition that has a gradual onset. There is no clear cut starting point. As the stresses
of modern life often cause the body s natural stress response system to be called upon far too
often. Over time, it slowly reaches a point of being unable to continue to rise to the occasion.
Thus, early stage adrenal fatigue sets in. It typically goes unnoticed, so it gradually gets worse. As
the body deteriorates, the liver becomes slowly unable to do its job adequately.... Show more

symptoms If one is fortunate enough to get a good alternative medicine professional on their
case, they may start seeing improvement. As with any recovery process, liver detox symptoms
can be surprisingly unpleasant. The bad stuff backed up in the system must come out. It has a
variety of pathways out of the body, including the urinary tract, bowel movements, emesis and
sweating. A very common occurrence is gastrointestinal distress during the detox phase. If it
moves on to emesis, one may be pushing too hard. It is easier on the body if the wastes coming
out of the system come out with less drama than is involved in emesis. After all, the point of
addressing adrenal fatigue syndrome is to reduce stress and help the body become more able to
handle it. An excess of drama during the recovery process is not

Douglas s Learning To Read And Write By Frederick Douglass
All humans are created equally and are born with free will. Every person has the natural right to
be the author of their life, meaning that they can make their own choices and pursue their
dreams. Nevertheless, humans bent nature to their will by adopting slavery, a practice in which
humans are owned and are brutally forced to work. In the excerpt Learning to Read and Write,
Frederick Douglass masters the literacy skills he needed to fulfill his role as an abolitionist,
bringing an end to slavery (Douglass 100). Throughout his piece, he addressed many important
concepts such as that reading is power but also a curse (Douglass 100). His main objective was to
prove his point that our environment doesn t define who we are. It s the choices we... Show more

society because of the choice he made (Douglass 101 102). For example, according to the
excerpt Learning to Read and Write, he befriended the boys he met on the street and did them
many favors to make them his teachers (Douglass 101). That is to say that Douglass was
ambitious and serious about his education though nobody pushed him to learn. He also [gave

Mindless Entertainment In Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451: Essay
Mindless entertainment can serve as a gateway to fun, but also keep us from what really matters.
Through the pages (51 58) Beatty explains to Montag how technology took over, and pure common
sense in the world for academics has faded away. That useless information has been filled in the
heads of people. There was no dictum, no declaration, no censorship, to start with, no! Technology,

Stock Market Stock Analysis
At the end of the stock market game the stocks that I own was Amazon, Wal Mart, AutoZone, Ford,

These stocks had their ups and down throughout the whole game, but although they didn t have it
that bad . They may have gained money, but, they also, losted money at the same time. Also, there
were days where the stockprice went up and down since there were people out there that was

at a higher price.
Some of the other stocks that I owned at different times in the stock market game was AT T,

stocks because they were having me to lose more money then I was gaining from them. At the end
of having these stocks I losted more money then what I bought them for.
Some of the stocks that I should have bought more of was Amazon, and Wal Mart. Even though I

Effectiveness In Youth Justice Research
In order to explore how one can ensure effectiveness while working within the youth justice
system, we must explain what is meant by being effective . Before studying the topic, my
personal working definition was that being effective in youth justice is working in a way which
is proven to work to reduce recidivism . Effective practice has been defined by the Youth Justice
Board as practice which produces the intended results (Chapman Hough, 1998) and specific
practice can ultimately be classified into five categories: 1. Research proven 2. Promising evidence
3. Emerging evidence 4. Treat with caution 5. Ineffective(Archer, 2013) On the surface, this system
of classification implies that to be effective means using practice which is... Show more content on

  • 2. Reflection Paper 1 Peter 1 Peter When the first epistle of Peter was written, being a Christian was something that was very hard to do. It was even difficult for the author because of the problems they faced. But as Christians, it is our duty to do good things. Yes, we are not perfect, yes we all sin; but we try out best to do what is right. Though sometimes bad things happen to good people. Look at Jesus. He did what was right and abided by God and in the end, he got crucified. We don t know why bad things happen sometimes but they do. We have no control over it. What we do have control over is our actions and our choice to follow God s word. Jesus did what God told him to do because he knew they he would be greatly rewarded. God approves when we do good. For it is better to suffer for doing well than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3:17 says, 17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing than for evil doing . Evil things come with bad consequences. God knows all and sees all, there is nothing that he doesn t know. When you do right but suffer God will still bless you. He strengthens his people by blessing them with hopes that they won t have to suffer. When this was writing the writer was aware of all the dangers or troubles he may face. Not only did the writers know that they were in danger but that their readers were in danger as well. In this epistle, Peter refers to God as the living God. He describes him as the creator of all and all powerful. He says that God is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Impact Of Insurance On The Health Insurance Market Impact of employer provided health insurance on the health insurance market Introduction Health insurance has been a topic of discussion lately due to its impact on the nation s health status. Recently, President Obama passed the health insurance reform so as to facilitate the accessibility of health to the majority of the US citizens including the uninsured. In the US most of the organizations both private and public have provided a medical cover for their employees and this paper will discuss the impact of this provision on the economy based on the population health, the impact on both private and public healthcare spending and finally the paper will focus on the impact of employer health insurance on the future generation. Economic impact on population health Employer provided health insurance is an important tool for the economic growth of the country as well as the promotion of the general public well being. First this form of insurance provides psychological and physical well being of the employees health (Kim 19). Analyzing the components of the psychoanalytic approach to personality Herbert Reeves PSY/250 April 26, 2011 David Brueshoff Analyzing the components of the psychoanalytic approach to personality Theories are analytical tools for understanding, explaining, and making predictions about a given subject matter. One such subject of much debate is the psychoanalytic theory. In order to grasp a hold of this intriguing subject matter, one has only to examine the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler. The most notable of the three is Freud. It was Freud s pioneering use of the term the I ( das Ich in his native German, which was then translated into the Latin ego ) that brought ego into common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as Adler did, he struggled with Freud s insistence on the primacy of the sexual drive. (Hollis, 2000) Later saying about Freud s psychology It was the explosion of all those psychic contents which could find no room, no breathing space, in the constricting atmosphere of Freudian psychology and its narrow outlook on sexual desire Jung broke with Freud to develop his own school of psychology, which emphasized the interpretation of the psyche s symbols from a universal mythological perspective rather than a personal biographical one. The psyche is not of today, he asserts. Its ancestry goes back many millions of years. Individual consciousness is only the flower and the fruit of a season. For Jung, the aim of life is to know oneself, and to know oneself is to plumb the depths of the inchoate seas of not only the personal unconscious but the collective unconscious as well. (Stein, 2000) Agree or Disagree Freud s delving into the memories, associations, and fantasies of a patient has merit in that it allows the patient to observe past behavior and discuss possible actions to take in order to understand the complexities of the patients own conduct. Adler s theory that human beings are fundamentally self determined has value because it describes an individual s motivation to survive, yet his hypothesis of human beings being whole and not a conglomeration of mechanism, drives, or dynamic ... Executive invite all the group members to participate with them actively for showing a diversity difficulties or challenges. This method is used at the small scale which can ensure the mutual trust, expectation, diversity goals. This method is very good since it tells that organisation is like to take advices or suggestions from the employee and considering playing a significant role in the decision making process of the IBM. • 6. The Deregulation Act Of The United States Paul Stephen Dempsey, the Hughes Research Professor of Law and Director of the Transportation Law Program at the University Of Denver College Of Law, takes the speculation on the cost to the ultimate level. Through his collection of data, he shows that although revenue per passenger mile fell at 2.4% (1978 88) compared to 1.7% (1967 77), if the fuel prices are kept constant, the fuel adjusted real yield shows that the prices were falling more rapidly at 2.7% (1967 77) compared to 2.0% (1978 88). These figures proved that consumers were paying more in 1988 then what they would have paid with regulation in effect. Surprisingly enough, the corroboration that the real cost has not declined after the act does not relate to airlines profit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Kathy suggests, safety can be mainly evaluated through the airport funding and fleet age. A quote from her article reveals the concerns at airport funding: The general Accounting Office says the country spends $3 billion less per year on airport infrastructure than is needed to keep up with the increased demand for air travel. This under level funding may mainspring airports to function clumsily, and may be the root for the air traffic controllers experiencing significant system failures (Koch). Such failures have led to near misses. The supplementary salient aspect of safety the fleet age has also seen a degradation. One of the graphs shows that the Average Age of Fleet in the US is much higher than the planes flown by other industrialized nations (Koch). The decrepit planes have elevated prospects of getting technical problems that could cost numerous lives. Dempsey presents a table accounting the fleet age of different American airlines in his article to substantiate how sharply it has escalated after the act. Following closely is given a table of Number of Mechanics per Aircraft that reflects a drastic shrink in numbers for most airlines (except Northwest, Pan Am, and United) (Flying Blind). The reduced number of technicians per aircraft results in lesser care for the aircraft that might lead to accidents. This makes it clear that airlines are putting passenger safety at risk to increase their profits. Taking safety from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Facebook’s Non-Compliance with Canadian Privacy Laws The world of privacy has changed, and Canada s laws need to keep up. Personal information has been called the oil of the digital economy and as companies drill for more data, the risk to privacy are growing exponentially. After an investigation conducted in 2009 prompted by a complaint filed from the Canadian Policy and Public Interest Clinic, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner has concluded that Facebook s current practices of third party applications do not comply with Canadian Privacy Laws. The Commissioner s concerns include inadequate disclosure to users about what is being disclosed, lack of consent, and lack of control over personal information with third party developers. With these findings, the Commissioner has proposed several recommendations for Facebook to take on, however the company has refused to comply. In this paper I will argue that the Office of Privacy Commission requires stronger enforcement powers in ordering Facebook to change its third party application practices in order to effectively protect consumers personal information. We live in a regulatory state. The idea of the regulatory state is that a new institutional and policy style has emerged, in which governments role as regulator advances while its role as a direct employer or property owner may decline through privatization Consumers are currently protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act dealing with the personal information under the private ... The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1. FeTi intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion bonding of Ti based and Fe based alloy[1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current study was similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by Orhan et al. [30]. A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region. We hypothesize that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in thermal properties between the two materials. Similar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were similar to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64 compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process. The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti, NiTi, Ti2Ni and ОІ Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these layers. EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond strength of the joint [2, 3, 5]. ... • 10. Helicopter Parent And I Don T Apologize Analysis It s true that different parents have distinct parenting styles. Each child must be disparate from another due to cultural background and upbringing. Three major parenting styles that have been around are tiger, helicopter, and free range parenting. In tiger parenting, parents are strict, while in free range it is just the opposite, parents let loose and let their children be who they are and allow them to take risks. The article I am a helicopter parent, and I don t apologize by Elizabeth Fairfield Strokes is an epitome of helicopter parentingand what goes on in a mind of helicopter parent. It is unfortunate that in today s society, the pathology of Whiteness still holds a very strong presence in literary world. Literature from American authors versus literature from African Americanauthors still continues to be segregated and handled with two different sets of criteria. Johnson s novelengages in different aspects of the argument presented in Toni Morrison s work entitled Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination. One of the main ideals that Pym engages in is the thought... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he meets the man hired to be replacement at the bar the young man expresses to him that he plans to join the diversity committee to make a difference. Jaynes replies to him saying You re not fighting Whiteness, you re feeding its perversion (20). While some feel as though things such as diversity committees are put into place to help erase the racial lines that divide American cultures, if these committees prove to be stagnate and unproductive they are really just keeping the systems segregated. It is easy to say that you have a diversity committee but if it is not actively trying to fight against segregation and focusing on all Americans being viewed as one instead of as different subsets, the committee becomes useless. Instead of the diversity committee representing change, it is aiding in pathology of Whiteness. Johnson takes Morrison s argument past simply identifying that Whiteness is still very much dominate in literature today and focuses on ways that we are still helping it to exist. He challenges the reader to identify the roles they are taking in keeping this impenetrable whiteness alive and helps them see that they are too affected by the pathology of Whiteness. Kennedy (JFK) was shot and killed in a motorcade running through Dealy Plaza, in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after, a man by the name of Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested and charged with the murder of President Kennedy. Over the years there has been much controversy over if Lee Harvey Oswald was in fact, the only man involved in the assassination of JFK. The assassination is still a topic of debate to this day and has spawned many conspiracy theories. At the time, there was little persuasive evidence to prove that Oswald was involved in any sort of conspiracy to assassinate the president, but as time went on people began to grow suspicious of certain things. In 1966,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Ruby claims to have murdered Oswald as revenge for killing President Kennedy, most people believe it was part of a cover up for a much larger conspiracy. After Ruby s arrest, he was sentenced to death, only to have his trials postponed and die of lung cancer shortly after postponing the trial. While Oswald was in interrogation, he changed his story many times when asked routine questions such as where were you at the time of the shooting , or explain to us what you did the day of the assassination . He also denied any involvement in the incident even though there was evidence against him. Oswald was bound to face further, more intense interrogation in the future, and this is the reason most people believe that assassination of Oswald was to prevent him from talking about what actually happened in the Kennedy assassination. There were also many strange reports of President Kennedy s brain being switched from when it was seen in evidence, to when the autopsy was performed. There were pictures of Kennedy s brain for evidence showing immense damage to the rear, consistent with an exit wound and therefore evidence of a shot from the front. Meanwhile, the autopsy brain did not nearly show the same amount of damage in the back of the brain, and an exit wound in the front. Schizophrenia is a psychological disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and or diminished, inappropriate emotional expression (Abel et al., 2010; WHO 2011pg. 631) . People with Schizophreniaencounter sensory experiences without sensory stimulation. In some episodes, the person may taste, fell, or see things that are not really there. These disorganized thoughts cause episodes or a breakdown due to the inability to focus on a set of sensory stimuli. Many studies have shown that schizophrenics experience difficulty in controlling the input of relevant and irrelevant information from their environment. This occurs because of a central deficit in the regulatory functions of attention. Schizophrenics are unable to protect themselves from sensory input, are flooded by auditory and visual stimulation (Mosher, 1971 p.13) . The father of this man was the type of person to do arduous labor, and be unacknowledged for it. Although the father deserved to not be acknowledged because he only went through this labor for his obligation and expectations to do so, not out of love, compassion, nor alacrity of any kind. He was an austere, anodyne, and abusive father but, his son still believes he could have been a better son by behaving more appropriately, and giving him at least a time where someone recognized and acknowledged his efforts through gratitude. The dynasty era began during the Xia dynasty in around 2100 1600 BC and ended when the Republic of China government was formed in the year 1949. Their political organization was hereditary, hence the name dynasty. This meant that when the king or the emperor died the succession for the throne would occur in the same family line; mainly from father to son. There were some occasions, however, when a non blood relative would assume the leadership positions. Nevertheless, this was in very rare instances. This kind of political organization and ruling to some extent might have promoted unity of the various kingdoms as per the time; although this was not always the case. There are some instances when the country Kingdom split and later merged again through conquests and war. The ancient China was characterized by many dynasties (Kissinger Henry 72). Mitchell Palmer, the United States attorney general under President Woodrow Wilson, the Espionage Act essentially made it a crime for any person to convey information intended to interfere with the U.S. armed forces prosecution of the war effort or to promote the success of the country s enemies (History). While it is a bad idea for the government to have the power to censor any type of media or speech, it can be necessary in times of war, due to the fact that if a large enough amount of US citizens are persuaded by a form of media to not support the war, focus could be lost and so could the country as a whole. Congress found this so important that they passed another law, the Sedition Act of the following year, which imposed similarly harsh penalties on anyone found guilty of making false statements that interfered with the prosecution of the war; insulting or abusing the U.S. government, the flag, the Constitution or the military; agitating against the production of necessary war materials; or advocating, teaching or defending any of these acts (History). Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking The United Nation s convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) categorically states that anyone under the age of 18 is defined as a child with an exception, under the law applicable to the child, the majority is attained (NSPCC, 2018). Children rights is a huge factor which doesn t just affect just our society but in fact the entire world and there are constant cases of children rights being breached and abused. This needs to come to a stop as this is a horrific chapter in children s lives which can leave them in such horrible states and possibly loss of life. I have chosen child trafficking because it is in my opinion the most horrific crime that is unfortunately committed across the world and is constantly ongoing and as corrupt, disgusting and inhumane as it is we remain to have large groups of children deal with this lifestyle all their lives (Children s Rights, 2013). Worldwide statistics reveal that each year around 150 million girls and 73 million boys are victims of sexual abuse, (WHO, 2018). • 31. Symptoms And Treatment Of Vascular Closure Background Vascular closure devices following cardiac catherization through the femoral artery have been gaining significant traction since its use in the mid 1990s. Compared to the previous gold standard of manual compression, VCDs allow for shortened time to ambulation, decreased duration of hospitalization post procedure, and increased patient comfort. The devices have also shown safeness comparable to manual compression. Despite the many advantages and variety of devices available, there are still complications to take into account. More common issues include device failure, bleeding, and hematoma. Less common but more serious complications include infection, ischemia, limb loss, and death. However, there was no discoloration, change of temperature, or sensory as well as motor deficits of the right lower extremity. Patient was taking a low dose aspirin and red yeast rice for cholesterol management at that time. The following morning the patient underwent successful angioplasty of the right common femoral artery with thrombectomy and a 6 x 20 mm balloon angioplasty, reducing a 90% stenosis to less than 30%. A spider catheter was deployed to perform the thrombectomy, however an atrial blazer catheter failed to retrieve the spider device as it was unable to completely collapse. As a result the patient was taken to the OR for vascular surgery. The spider basket was retrieved through the wall of the common femoral artery with its contents. The specimen was sent to pathology, which noted a foreign body device surrounded by soft tissue attached to the spider device. The foreign body was noted to be a Angio Seal plug from the left heart catheterization that had been presumed a thrombus. Discussion Promising results have shown that the Angio seal VCD has excellent efficacy and safety after routine catheterization and intervention. However, clear indications of use and risk of complications need to be evaluated and monitored. Advantages to using a closure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Overconsumption Of Antibiotics Why does the over prescription of antibiotic medication lead to a negative economic and societal outcome? Increasing bacterial resistance to antibiotic treatments has become a worldwide issue over the last 20 years as consumer and general practitioner s incentives for a quick fix to minor illnesses have caused a negative externality for the consumption of antibiotics. A negative externality in this example is when a third party, in this case, society as a whole, is adversely affected by the overconsumption of antibiotics, due to greater bacterial resistance, causing more advanced diseases that pose a greater risk to the health of a society. The roles played by consumers, doctors and pharmaceutical manufacturers will be discussed in detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most antibiotics require a prescription from a medical professional such as a general practitioner or specialist. According to research published in the Medical Journal of Australia during 2017: GP s have been prescribing antibiotics nine times more often than what the guidelines state. Doctors, like consumers, are driven by their own incentives. There is a strong incentive for GP s to prescribe antibiotics to patients which may not necessarily require them, due to the pressure on a doctor s time to attend to as many patients as possible. Therefore, doctors can be incentivised to undertake the simplest solution, rather than sacrifice the amount of patients that they see in order to explore other methods of treatment. Doctor s incentives tend to be skewed towards offering treatment to patients, rather than focusing on decreasing the big picture societal negative externality. Another example of an externality on the healthcare system is that amplified antibiotic resistance increases medical costs, as more expensive, potent antibiotics are required to combat stronger bacteria and infections. In the United States, Pharmaceutical companies spend over $1 billion each year on direct to consumer advertising for antibiotic prescriptions, shifting away from traditional advertisements for physicians in medical journals, towards newspapers and consumer magazines. This marketing strategy has bolstered consumer demand hugely and it poses a problem, as consumers are now heavily swayed by private institutions who have their own incentive for maximizing profits. In order to combat the issues discussed in this essay, a potential solution involves the implementation of economic incentives for drug manufacturers, consumers and doctors, employed by policy ... • 33. Historical Accuracy Of La Amistad Amistad is a movie depicting the real events concerning the Spanish slave ship, La Amistad, in 1839. The movie starts off with Cinque, one of the slaves, breaking free from his shackles, and leading a revolt on the ship. The slaves kill all the crew except for two people, and demand that they be sailed back to Africa. The Spanish sailors agree, but they deviously sail the ship to America. When the ship reaches the United States, the slaves are put in jail, and are going to be tried in court for murder of the ships passengers and sent to Spain. However, the slaves are defended by Roger Baldwin, and later John Quincy Adams. Practically everyone is against the slaves and the government tries to make it harder for the slaves to win the case. The case eventually reaches the supreme court, and despite much controversy and refutation, the supreme court decides that the slaves are to be set free and sailed back to Africa. Overall, the major plot points in the film are historically accurate. For example, the first scene in the movie, which depicts the slaves revolting and taking over the ship, is more accurate than not. According to Swanson (1998): On June 30 Cinque incited the slaves to revolt at sea, killing the captain and cook and taking prisoner their owners, two merchants named Ruiz and Montez. Cinque tried to force Montez to pilot the vessel to Africa, but Montez reversed the course repeatedly, zigzagging up the North American coast. They were captured off Montauk Point, Long Island, by the U.S. Coast Guard vessel Washington and were brought to New London, where the ship, cargo, and rebellious slaves were claimed for salvage money, while Ruiz and Montez sought to regain possession of them. (para. 3) This is what is depicted in the film. The slaves take over the ship and kill the captain, and only leaving the two merchants, Ruiz and Montez. The film also showed the two merchants reassuring the slaves that they are going back to Africa, but changing the direction of the course several times, ultimately ending up in the United States. The film shows exactly what happened on the real ship. Another accurate detail from the movie is the treatment of slaves aboard La Amistad. In the film, the slaves underwent vile ... Elizabeth Bennet is witty but prideful, Emma Woodhouse is well meaning but frightfully un observant, and overcoming these flaws is what drives these characters arcs throughout their respective books. Yet in Austen s novel , Persuasion, at first, Anne Elliot seems as if she is the perfect woman. She is a woman of birth, beauty, and mind, (Austen 20), she manages to be liked by nearly everyone she meets, and she was the only one to keep a calm head when Louisa fell in Lyme (79). Anne does not challenge Mary s poor behavior even when it is blatantly selfish and even compromises with her in order to further avoid a different type of confrontation. This is not the only time that one of Anne s family members acts disagreeable in such an obvious fashion. Her father s character is so shallow that he only cares about looks and rank (4), rarely acts in a way that is not displeasing or ridiculous to the reader, and has overspent all of his money and is now in debt (8). Austen even states that Sir. Walter has no affection for Anne, (175) his own daughter. He goes so far as to make fun of the appearance of a man who served in the navy (15). We as the reader can see that Sir. Walter has no redeemable qualities, and yet Anne does not stand up to him when he disproves of her engagement with Wentworth when she is younger (20). The two systems not only demonstrate the early concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism, internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another, but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it. Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times, sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the ... With each email account, the user is assigned a specific quota that specifies the amount of space the account can have at a given time. The Fashion Design Of Chanel It has been over a century since Mademoiselle Chanel, determined to reform the concept of femininity as much in style as in the essence, commissioned the chemist Ernest Beaux to develop what will become the symbol of international perfumery. Chanel No. 5 is unquestionably the most legendary ever made fragrance, described as an opera of olfactory art. Independent, unconventional, and provocative, CocoChaneltransformed her unfamiliar name into an obligatory reference point for fashion design of the twentieth. As an icon of female strength, she translates the complexity and elegance that characterize the woman, with the creation of what would become the scent par excellence. Her way of conceiving the perfumeis peculiar. When asked where to put the perfume she replies: A woman should wear a fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed ( A Woman ). Coco also launches what turned out, according to the instructions of the designer, had to embody a concept of femininity timeless, unique, and fascinating.
