Essay about Sibling Relationships in A Yellow Raft in Blue...
Sibling Relationships in A Yellow Raft in Blue Water Relationships play an important role in one s
life. They are formed on the basis of love and understanding. Relationship helps various people in
every aspect of life and assists them in being a better person. Such a relationship was found in the
novel A Yellow Raft In Blue Water. Christine and Lee had a unique brother sister relationship. They
cared for and protected each other and as well as overcame their fears of life. Christine did not believe
in herself and tried very hard to be accepted by the society. Lee was the one who made Christine gain
confidence and accepted her for who she was. Christine, on the other hand provided Lee with the
motherly love that Aunt Ida had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christine wanted Lee to be a patriotic young man who would do anything for his country. At first Lee
had not agreed to Christine s wish, If you go through with this you re not my brother (164). When Lee
contended his sister s wish, she was filled with pride. Secondly, both Christine and Lee cared deeply
for each other. They were equally important to each other and there was always a mutual
understanding between them. At one point Lee risked his life to save Christine, although Lee was
quite young at that time he still knew that it was important to protect his sister. Lee was everywhere
with me and in the spring he saved my life (146). This quote describes the emotions existing between
Lee and Christine. When Christine was in danger Lee knew that he had to save her no matter what,
she was his sister, she was the one person who truly loved him and without her he would not be able to
live on. He wasn t just my best friend, he was the only I trusted, the only one who never let me down
(156). In this line Christine conveys her affection for Lee. Not only did Lee and Christine treasure an
exceptional relationship, they were best friend who trusted each other with their lives. Finally, Lee and
Christine surmounted their fears of life by being with one another. Christine had always feared
rejection, without Lee s love and understanding Christine would never have had her carefree

My Journey In Life
Everyone has a story to share, none less important than the other, and a past that helped to create the
people we are today. As I begin my journey into the world of adulthood, the feelings of excitement
and fear dawn on me because the realization hit me! I ve made it! Senior year, the year I have been
dreading and longing for the past 3 years fear of leaving home and becoming my own person. Only to
one day discover, as I sat in my room thinking about life s next chapter that was about unfold in front
of me,i realized I more than ready to go into the future with the security of being okay because of the
enviorment I was raised in and the values my mother instilled in me since the age of 5. Coming from a
family of three that consisted of only my father, mother and myself, lasted only till about four years
ago. Now it is only a party of two which consists of only myself and my mother. My household was
chaotic, due to the many disputes that occured on a daily basis, one parent always disatisfied with the
other . As a small child not many thoughts would run through my mind as I saw my parents fighting
and my dad drinking. To me it seemed normal because at least I had both my parents and it would get
better eventually. Eventually never came, the fighting and the drinking progressed as I grew, and the
bitterness that accumulated over the years overcame me and now it wasn t just a fight between
partners, it was a fight between child and father. Everyday was a constant battle

Literacy Information Technology
Traditional methods of obtaining literacy information have been replaced with new technology such
as, Kindles, laptops, cell phones and computers. Technology is the new gateway to collect information
for educational purposes or casual reading. Numerous studies have examined the effectiveness of
using technology for gathering up to date resources. In the past, the method of obtaining information
for a school project was from outdated books, this method is still valuable, but for the constant inflow
of information, technology is undeniably a quicker and more resourceful means. The variety of online

Informative Speech On Chemotherapy
Hi, ph: justin
I would like to tell you about cancer therapy and how we can heal of it ,
As we know patients of cancer take chemotherapy and some of them die and they didn t heal.
Chemotherapy is the use of one or more anticancer (cytotoxic) drugs to damage cancer cells so they
can t grow and reproduce. Chemotherapy is most effective on cells that are actively growing and
dividing. Because many cancer cells tend to grow and divide quickly, they are sensitive to the effects
of chemotherapy.
After cancer patients receive chemotherapy, they sometimes need a sedative
we re wondering about what does chemotherapy cause: it causes inflammation also some chemo drugs
can also cause: pain weakness numbness tingling in the hands and feet.

Universal Design Essay
Within the past couple of decades, scholars in education as well as those focused on disabilities have
been questioning whether or not the public education system is doing enough to ensure that all
students have equal access. Specifically, the concern of the scholars is with the growing number of
students with disabilities within the public education system and if the educators are able to keep up
with this growing number. This is a difficult situation since the educators have to find a way to make
sure that both students with and without disabilities are able to have access to the same information at
the same time. Most scholars within this area have completed studies to show that implementing
Universal Design (UD) for both learning (UDL) and instruction (UDI) can be beneficial for both
students with and without disabilities. And the scholars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would get more negative effects than positive effects. Britain and French should have not let Hitler do
what he would do and do something about it. Britain and French practiced appeasement because they

Persuasive Speech About Weight
Have you exhausted yourself trying to lose that extra weight? Have you gone on every diet and bought
every gimmick that other women have had success with to no avail? Losing weight is just more
difficult for some of us than others, which can be discouraging But if you figure out WHY this is
occurring, well, then you can change it.
First of all, think about your habits and the foods you consume. Are you a smoker, dependent upon
caffeine, or binge drink a few nights a week? Are the majority of your meals prepackaged foods, I m
even talking about those alleged diet meals , that you can just heat up and go? Do you usually base
your meals around foods that have been previously prepared (I m talking soups, pizzas, cereal, chips,
etc.)? Even if you choose the low fat versions of these processed foods, it s not positively a healthful
choice.
The issue with these habits, is that they are not NATURAL. You can t allow all of these alien, and
even detrimental substances in your body, and assume it will perform optimally. The nicotine,
caffeine, alcohol, food preservatives, and additives are in no way shape or form good for us. In point
of fact, they are very damaging. Stop and consider the numerous people now a days that live with or
even die of disease? Medicine and science are advancing, yet people are getting more diseased and
debilitated. It does not make much sense until we scrutinize the foods we eat. Ninety percent of the
average Americans diet is composed of processed

What Is Marilyn Monroe Mental Illness
Marilyn Monroe and Mental Illness By: Whitworth PSY 410 May 20, 2012 Marilyn Monroe and
Mental Illness Marilyn Monroe, her given name Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born on June 1, 1926.
The name Norma Jeane Mortenson was baptized as Norma Jeane Baker (Bio True Story, 2012). When
Marilyn was born, during the 1920 s, single parenting was not regarded highly. Marilyn s mother,
Gladys Mortenson, named Marilyn after Norma Tallmadge, famous actor during the mid 1920 s.
Marilyn was born with no father figure in which to influence her life. Marilyn s birth certificate lists
Edward Mortenson as the father, of which he was Gladys second husband, biographers have since

During Norma Jeane s childhood she was known to have fantasized that she was the daughter of Clark
Gabel, she had often told school mates that her father was a famous Hollywood actor (Doll, 1998

biological father, Gifford (Doll, 1998 2012). Doll (1998 2012), When she was a teenager, she tried to
speak with him by telephone. She identified herself as Norma Jeane, Gladys s daughter, but the party
on the other end of the line simply hung up. (Para. 7). It is easy to underestimate the significance of
the stories surrounding Norma Jeane s early life, yet it appears that she felt a profound sadness at
never having known her father. This alone left an emotional scare. The conflicting stories the fantasies
about who her father was, is a mere representation of her attempts to put her early life into
presepective, in spite of a dim past (Doll, 1998 2012). Unfortunately these attempts were not enough
to for the actress, it is noted that shortly before her death, Norma Jeane filled out an official document,
witnessed by her personal secretary, where the father is listed as unknown (Doll, 1998 2012). Family
History of Mental Illness Norma Jeane s mother had a documented history of mental illness. Both of
her parents, Otis and Delia Monroe were found to have lived out their later years in mental
institutions, Norma Jeane s uncle, Marion Monroe, was also

Worship God Reflection
I stared out at the sunset from my post of land in the woods. The bleeding of reds, oranges, and pinks
together perfectly reflected onto the shimmering lake. My stomach ached, but the taste of beauty made
the pain somewhat bearable. This past summer, I went on a La Vida trip, where I was required to do a
solo experience, where I was denied food and social interactions for two days. Fasting was proven to
be difficult, but it was through that experience that I began to understand the concept of giving all
yourself in worship to God. Most of my life I was only familiar with worshiping God with my time,
resources, or through song. In denying myself food, I was shown how to worship God through fasting.
From the lessons I learned at La Vida, my goals for the next four years are to do what Jesus said in
Luke 10:27: to love the Lord (my) God with all (my) heart and with all (my) soul and with all (my)
strength. Over these four years, I plan to worship God through every aspect of my life, including but
not limited to in my academic and musical pursuits. Through my academics, I hope to be diligent in
my pursuit of knowledge, to grow in my character, and to worship God. In the Liberal Arts for the
Christian Life, Jeffrey C. Davis emphasized that education can be a means of worshiping the Lord. In
all my pursuits of knowledge, I should study as if I m working for the Lord, not for human masters
(Col. 3:23). Then, through this discipline and training of faithfulness, I can be

The Abortion Of The Fetus
I am going to argue that its is right to claim that, even if a fetus is a person, abortion is still permissible
when one s risk in health/stability/happiness is threatened. I believe that any woman, who houses the
fetus inside her body for estimated nine months have the right and the choice to abortion when it is for
one s health, stability and happiness for both the mother and the unborn fetus. Thomson s argument is
entitled as Defense to Abortion . I agree to Thomson and her argument when it comes to aborting a
fetus, even if a fetus is a person. Yes, it has it s own DNA, and it s own life but when it threatens the
house that it stays in, which in this case would be the woman/mother s womb, I believe the abortion of
the fetus, is permissible. Thomson states it cannot be seriously thought to be murder if the mother
performs an abortion on herself to save her life. (Thomson, Defense on Abortion, pg6) Thomson gives
an example of a violinist being plugged into another human, using their blood in high hopes of
survival by that person s kidneys extracting the poison from the violinist s blood. The person never
agreed to do such, being that it was decided by the Society of Music Lovers; but did not go against it
by detaching himself from the violinist knowing that it can cause death. This explains that there are
events where we don t have much of a freedom of choice when there is a conscious person/life
involved meaning, when there is a conscious life in our hands,

the early springs hit they emerge; right around the time when the alfalfa starts to come back in season.

Marker Dna Investigation
To begin the lab, marker DNA, crime scene DNA, and suspect DNA was collected for analysis. The
goal for the experiment was to distinguish the perpetrator of the crime through the observation of the
DNA in each suspect. In order to do this, each collection of the certain DNA was initially stained in
order for it to be visible and separated into smaller fragments with restriction enzymes. Gel
electrophoresis was used to separate the DNA molecules based on size. To do this, a micropipette and
agarose gel were utilized. The micropipette collected 10 microliters of each DNA at a time and was
meticulously placed inside a well of the porous gel. After one specific DNA was used, it was ensured
that the DNA from that collection did not contaminate the other through the use of the micropipette.

The marker DNA contained DNA fragments whose base pairs and size were previously known. Thus,
when it is separated through gel electrophoresis, the strands visible can be compared to the other DNA
strands and the size of the adjacent strands can be estimated. A semi log graph was utilized to
determine the unknown DNA fragment sizes. The distances migrated, and the DNA fragment size of
the marker DNA was first plotted. Then, a line of best fit was drawn for reference. The distance the
DNA fragments of crime scene DNA, suspect one s DNA, and suspect two s DNA had traveled
through the agarose gel was calculated. Once those values were known, the points along the line of
best fit that were intersected by the x axis values of the distance traveled by the DNA fragments were
the estimated sizes of the separated DNA fragments. Once the sizes were discovered, the data was
observed in order to exonerate and implicate a suspect. After observation, suspect one was exonerated
as suspect two s DNA fragments closely resembled and matched up with those in the crime scene

Personal Ethics Vs Medical Ethics Essay
The two key differences between medical/ personal ethics and that of public ethics is who they are
responsible to and why. Starting with medical ethics, providing needed healthcare services to the
individual patient in an ethical and legal manner, operating under a developed and implemented code
of ethic guaranteed by a compliance program to help ensure it carries out its operations in a legal and
professional manner (Torrens, 2008). Personal ethics are based and conceived from the moral values
obtained and influenced by a person s beliefs and expectations, this can vary from person to person
(ERC; Ethics Work Center, 2010). These personal ethics can be listed as values, such as integrity,
excellence and attitude, and attaching related behaviors to them. They may be influenced by a

Public health ethics share some of the same values but differ in regards to whom they serve. Their
intent is to provide equal distribution of resources, with special regard to the vulnerable groups with in
society (Torrens, 2008). This is subordinate to the greater needs of the population as a whole. This

its creation, the details of the act itself, and the impacts on responsibilities to both firms management

Andersen s reputation was so tarnished from the revelations of the conspiracy that no public company
would have Arthur Andersen as an auditor. Andersen s practice was disbanded and has now become
defunct with only a handful of employees still working for the firm as they continue to wind down the
business. In July of 2002, not long after the exposure of the Enron accounting fraud and bankruptcy,
WorldCom Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. WorldCom Inc. admitted that the company
had fraudulently misclassified over $3.8 billion in payments for line costs as capital expenditures
rather than current expenses (Beresford). The company s executives perpetrated this fraud, grossly
overstating revenues by improperly transferring billions of dollars in line cost expenses to asset
accounts over a number of years. These transfers reduced WorldCom s reported line costs and
increased pre tax income by $7 billion overall (Beresford). These two disgraceful accounting frauds
by senior and executive managers at Enron and WorldCom, as well as similar events that took place at
other public companies in the early to mid 2000s and the Arthur Andersen conspiracy were the genesis
for the call of accounting reforms and auditor independence that would ultimately become the

Why Does Jane Austen Use Of The Gothic
Explore How Austen Makes Use of the Gothic in the Novel
Throughout Northanger Abbey Jane Austen uses gothic horror to describe main events that highly
influence the outcome of the novel. The book bases its whole plot around gothic horror but it s not
really a gothic horror but more of parody of a gothic horror.
At the very start of the book (pages 3 4) Austen introduces the character of Catherine. She uses
stereotypical characteristics from a normal Gothic Horror novel to somewhat tell the reader that
Catherine is remarkably none of these things. As the reader this tells you Austen portrays her as a plain
and unaccountable character with a very unremarkable life, not that of stereotypical heroine from a
gothic horror novel. She tells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Upon reaching Northanger Abbey (chapter 21) Catherine is led to a separate chamber in the house
very unlike the one Henry had endeavoured to alarm her by the description of this shows Austen isn t
writing a typical gothic horror story when she describes Catherin s apartment as altogether far from
uncheerful compared to Tilney s description with gloomy passages.
Whilst at Northanger Catherine discovers a high old fashioned black cabinet within her room a
rousing curiosity rouses within her and she investigates the contents of it. This is Austen once again
using the plot of something from within your average gothic horror story to manipulate Catherine s
imagination. As she reads so many gothic horror novels this is her mind linking real life to fantasy
once again and imagining strange looking items that may be in one of her books to items of furniture
in her apartment. This tells the reader Austen is mocking gothic horror and how readers base their

The great Gatsby Task
Rationale
With my written task I would like to explore one of the parts of the book of which the narrator does

Being a fill the gap kind of writing piece the text type is gonna be a short story.
The reason why I chose to fill this gap is due the empty feeling who got triggered in me making me
feel incomplete and unfulfilled while reading the chapter.

to write something about it anyway.

Executive Officer Chief Executive Officers
Chief Executive Officers (which will be referred to as CEOs for the remainder of this paper) is
arguably the most prestigious position an individual can hold in the business world. There is no
disputing the high level of responsibility necessary to manage the operations and resources of any
company, while also being the key figure between the company s board of directors and the
stakeholders which are effected as a result of the company s actions. Despite the high level of
responsibility, it is worth asking a question that has been up for debate not just in recent years, but for
the past several decades, which is whether or not CEO compensation can be justified? Just to put into
perspective how much one of Canada s highest paid CEOs makes, ... Show more content on

The short answer is no. I firmly believe that today s CEOs are overpaid as a result of the use of stock
options as a pay initiative; rewarding CEOs with huge severance packages regardless of whether they
bring success to the company or not; and because they are essentially overpaid managers
Stock Options are one of the Main Culprits for Overcompensation of CEOs
If we break down how CEOs are generally paid we may look at their base salary, which can range
from approximately $300,000 upwards to between 4 and 5 million for Canada s top executives. What
the average person may not be informed about is the additional compensation that is available to be
earned from bonuses, stock options, and other payments on top of the base salary. Canada s Highest
earning CEO in 2015, Gerald W. Schwartz of Onex Corporation, made $86.5 Million of his total $87.9
Million salary from other such forms of compensation. Stock options are typically used as a form of
compensation because they offer the CEO an incentive laden form of salary that in theory will make
the CEO make decisions in the best interest of the shareholders, and if share prices go up they too are
rewarded. Stock options are truly a no lose situation for the CEO, because they are not required to pay
for the options and in the event of share price

A Comparison Of Bell Jar And Duncan In The Way
Life is like a game of Russian roulette, a lot of it involves luck. Nobody can t know what s going to
happen next, only hope that it s going to turn out well in the end. Although in the end, no matter what
anybody has been through, these things shape them, they make them who they are. There s a point in
life which arguably is the most important in turning them into the person they are, these are the
teenage years. Everything can be great until then, but life throws a curveball and now it seems like
everything has turned against them. Some people get through this, becoming a better person in the
end; others aren t so lucky. This was the case for both Esther in The Bell Jar and Duncan in The Way

As kids we re taught that we can get most anything we want with screaming, crying, and or telling. It s
a terrible lesson to teach kids, and sadly that s the way most are taught. Once the kids become
teenagers and approach adulthood they re hit with the realization that crying won t fix everything.
Duncan, like most others and sometimes myself, combat this via silence. Instead of talking out
Duncan would avoid the problems that he faced instead of dealing with them head on. Owen had
jokingly told Duncan, I m afraid I m gonna have to ask you to leave. [...] I m getting complaints. You
re having way too much fun. It s making everyone uncomfortable (Faxon). Now Duncan of course
doesn t understand that this a joke, but instead of questioning why he s being fired he goes simply

experience teaches young adults many things ranging from life will throw you curveballs to
sometimes you won t be able to catch these curveballs. The point isn t to sulk in the past of all the bad
things that had happened to you, it s to move past them to make you a better person. Coming of age
experiences are important because they shape you into the person you are, even if they re not

This shows that beauty pageants do have a large impact on the way people view themselves, causing
eating disorders. Over all beauty pageants have brought eating disorders, low self esteem and
depression to many women in our society. Many beauty contestants lie about their true feelings about
certain topics just so they will receive a good score in the questioning/ personality aspect of the
contest. People may say that contestants describe their true beliefs. An example of this is when Miss
California described her anti gay marriage beliefs to pro gay marriage judges. Miss California (Carrie
Prejean) may have discussed her true feelings about her political views on gay marriage, but she was
then negatively judged on her beliefs about gay marriage. Wow. We re stunned on many levels. First,
that a judge would actually suggest a contestant say what the judges want to hear, not what she really
believes (Augusta Chronicle). This refers to judges that want to hear the things they believe in. If the
contestant has the same beliefs and view as the judge they will be scored higher. Also Perez Hilton
stated on the Today show that Carrie Prejean should have left her politics and religion out because
Miss USA represents all Americans (Boston.com). If Miss California left her politics and religion out
of this how else would she have stated her point without people knowing where she was coming from?

The Jungle Reforms
What societal and government reforms did The Jungle call for. Do you feel this novel was effective in
bringing about any of these reforms. The Jungle , written by Upton Sinclair, is an astonishing novel
informing readers about the devastating truths involving impoverished life in America, particularly
Chicago. This novel gives the reader an inside look into to the struggles of numerous European
immigrants as they ventured to America during the early 1900 s. Sinclair depicts the disturbing and
emotional realities average people in America faced daily and successfully demonstrates the correct
societal and governmental reforms such as the meat packing industry would have allowed these issues
to be avoided. The main societal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were forced to work longer without pay, work in unsanitary conditions, and more. Much later in
the novel, after Jurgis has run away fromm his family, become an alcoholic, and homeless, he
accidently stumbles upon a political meeting where he is first introduced to socialism. When he first
gets to the meeting, he enters just to sit and rest until someone encourages him to listen to the speech.
To his surprise, the speaker is pointing out the terrible conditions that workers face each day.
Additionally, he talks about how capitalists grind most workers into capitulation. Jurgis has never
heard anyone speak so vividly of the realities he was facing each day, causing him much joy. This was
the first time a political party was in favor of the working class rather than the privileged and wealthy.
Sinclair does an excellent job of developing the theme of reform from capitalism to socialism. As he
speaks to Ostrinski, a Lithuanian speaking socialist, he is informed that just because America is
politically free doesn t mean there is no wage slavery . When Jurgis finds a new job, under a socialist
boss, Sinclair makes it obvious that this is a much better political party than capitalism since Jurgis is
making thirty plus dollars each month. This new wage is nothing compared to the amount he was
making before. Throughout the novel capitalism is portrayed as a destructive form of government
while Sinclair promotes socialism. Another major reform that

Online tools/options
In recent years, technology has become recognized as an effective tool for providing learning and
collaboration opportunities for educators, particularly in rural area. The use of technology can break
down the barrier of distance and compensate for the lack of peers for teachers in rural district.
Researchers have found new teachers, including special education teachers can utilize various forms
and options to connect, learn, and receive support to increase their teaching skills resulting in an
increased retention rates. In Idaho local districts, the state department of education, and several higher
education institutes implemented a teacher preparatory program for special educators, which
incorporated online courses, field experiences throughout the teacher preparation program, and
collaboration time with trained mentors (Johnson, 2009). The research results indicated the strong

Elements Of Science Fiction In Kindred

Kindred Science Fiction and Historical Fiction Combine to Create a Powerful Novel
` In Kindred, Octavia Butler combines elements of science fiction and historical fiction to create a new
genre. The science fiction aspect allows Butler s main character, Dana, to travel back to a southern
plantation in the 1800s. The historical fiction part of the novel makes the story extremely believable
and realistic. Butler uses these two genres to expose the harsh realities of life for an African American
on an antebellum plantation in the 1800s, as well as to highlight that similar prejudices continue to
exist in California in the 1970s. Kindred does not fit neatly into one specific genre because it
incorporates elements from both science fiction and historical fiction which makes it into a new
category. Kindred has many elements of science fiction because the mysterious element of time travel
is key to the novel. In this novel, the main character, Dana, lives in California during 1976 and travels
back in time to the antebellum South. She routinely travels back in time to save her ancestor, Rufus,
from dangerous situations. Dana is unable to control her time travel and she only travels when Rufus
is in grave danger. For example, Dana travels back to rescue Rufus from drowning in a river. Dana
tells Rufus, When I came to you at the river, it was June ninth, nineteen seventy six for me. When I
got home, it was still the same

Roman Catholic Church vs Eastern Orthodox Church Essay
Before the split of 1054, the Roman Catholic Church or Western church and the Eastern Orthodox
Church or Byzantine church were almost one with each other. The two churches held the same ideals
and got along with one another the majority of the time. They had previous splits in the past but they
were never a permanent situation because they usually found a solution to their issues and differences.
The split between the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church in 1054 seemed to
have no resolution when their theological, political, and cultural differences became too much for
them to harmonize upon. Although the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church

The theological differences were some of the biggest reason why the Roman Catholic and Eastern
Orthodox churches split. The Eastern churches had theological roots in Greek philosophy and the
Western churches had theologies that constructed on their Roman law ( Schism of 1054 , 2014, para.
3). A strong issue that the two churches had was the theological proposition of the placement and
addition of the Son to the Roman creed. The Roman churches included the Father and the Son in the
Nicene creed without consulting the Eastern church while the Eastern church only used the Father.
The Orthodox Church believe it should have been written with the Father proceeded by the Holy
Spirit. Besides theological differences between the two churches there were also political and cultural
controversies. Before the split the Western church had begun to push for the solidification of papal
authority. The push for papal authority would cause the churches to become more autocratic and
centralized (Dennis, The East West Schism, para. 10). This push had taken a damper on the entire
church and the hostility began to grow. Problems arose in Southern Italy (then under Byzantine rule)
in the 1040s, when Norman warriors conquered the region and replaced Greek [Eastern] bishops with
Latin [Western] ones (Dennis, para. 5). After Cerularius was informed that the Normans were

Miranda July Identity
English Final Essay: Identity
In our contemporary, we have the choice and the luxury to decide who and what we want to be.
Identity is a topic of great importance in some of our stories. Although, it is represented in a different
way. So we get to ask ourselves: Can we actually create our own roles and identity? First, it is present
in Nilda by Junot Diaz. Secondly, it appears in Something That Needs Nothing by Miranda July.
Lastly, misidentification is found in Amber Sweet by Adrian Tomine.
In the first place, we can see that the topic of identity is present in the story Nilda in Junot Diaz s book

The main character is a woman that is mistaken for Amber Sweet who is a really famous porn star that
looks exactly like her. Nowadays, people that look like they re the same person but in fact they don t

doppelganger. Throughout the story, we see that the young lady s life has been affected by this
resemblance. When walking around, she always hears people whispering and giving her weird looks
or just laughing. Moreover, this resemblance also affected her dating life. The men she dates or has a
relationship with, either imagine having a relationship with Amber Sweet and picture the porn star
instead of the protagonist, or just compare her to the celebrity. The narrator feels very insecure about
herself and doesn t know how to react as we can see in the beginning of the story: It was just little
things like people looking at me funny or whispering when I walked by, but it was too much for me to
ignore. It got to the point where I couldn t set foot on campus without feeling completely self
conscious .(30) She keeps on struggling with this, even after moving and changing schools, trying to
be herself. But this does not help and her identity is still always mistaken for Amber Sweet, who the
narrator really isn t a big fan of but ends up liking her when they finally meet after she cut her hair. In
the story we can see that the protagonist s identity has been chosen for her and has been forced upon
her. She really does not have the choice to be what or who she really wants to

Strategic and Tactical Planning
Business Process flow and procedures
This document summarizes the methodologies employed to complete the review and presents our
findings and recommendations. Throughout this document we utilize terms such as will, should

As such, BPM can be employed as a strategic asset that Dynatrix can use to produce value added
products to customers. Figure 1.1 Benefits of implementing a BPM approach to Dynatrix
Strategy
MAK consultants understand that Dynatrix lacks a clearly defined strategy that drives the
organisation. As such, actions should be taken to outline the goals and objectives of Dynatrix so every
member of the organisation knows exactly what they are working toward namely through a vision
statement . A vision statement encapsulates this idea of the shared values and beliefs held within
Dynatrix that drives the firm to achieve one common goal.
Strategic Positioning
Everything should begin with a corporate strategy. Quality and customer responsiveness are two value
propositions emphasized in Dynatrix s current strategy. Value proposition is the value that a product or
service provides to customers . (Harmon, 2007) In the case of Dynatrix it can potentially be the
accessories of the hand held device, not the hand held device itself which can provide the platform for
their strategic position. Thus Dynatrix needs to develop a positioning strategy to target customer s
needs. Treacy and Wiersema s three generic positioning strategies distinguish between three value
propositions pertaining to customer needs:

Engineering Disasters
In just a few centuries, mankind has made leaps and bounds in advancing technology and engineering
capability. From skyscrapers to nuclear reactors, engineers continue to design and build things that
previous generations would have thought impossible or could have never imagined. With each success
in innovation, the world seems to be jetting towards a technological wonderland. However, not every
project goes smoothly, and some even fail disastrously. Engineering disasters have made their mark on
history just as prominently as its successes. With each success, engineers strive to reach that much
further into the unknown and desire to innovate the next great technology. With each disaster,
engineers have been forced to take a step back and analyze ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ASME created standards and codes for pressure vessels as well as initiating a precedent for
analyzing engineering failures as to help prevent future disasters. Before, even when incidents were
sometimes catastrophic, pressure vessels were simply deemed a dangerous line of work. The ASME,
along with societies of other engineering disciplines, created a system to diagnose sources of error,
which provided a basis from which engineers could innovate solutions. At its core, the method is just a
few simple steps: contain the disaster, analyze the failure source, and determine who or what was at
fault. With formal societies and rules in place, engineers were more accountable than ever for their
projects. However the system for accountability was still incomplete. By 1919, engineering disasters
were still catastrophic as a result of questionable practices and judgment. It was around this time that
engineering licensure was developed as well as the adaptation of engineering ethics into the analysis
of engineering catastrophes. Engineering ethics provided additional insight into why engineers make
critical decisions as well as provide a platform for judging these engineers when things go wrong.
Now the analysis gained an additional step: was the decision or action that led to failure made
ethically or was it morally

Reflection Paper On Strategic Management
This reflection paper will cover the lessons that I have learned from the cases and readings. Most
importantly it will expand on classroom discussions with Professor Dew and my peers; it is here
where I believe that I found the most valuable education. I will conclude with how this course has
influenced my way of thinking and how I will plan to apply these acquired Strategic Management
lessons in my future assignments and military billets. Thru the course I have learned that Strategic
Management builds on many processes and that various companies and organizations with diverse
backgrounds can teach us valuable lessons. To be on the lookout for what can be considered a
beneficial development in an organization or perhaps what can be a bad plan plausibly implemented at
the wrong time. As military members we are educated to think very linearly about strategy. For many
years we have been trained to have a strategic thought process based on the use of a methodology that
espouses three major steps: Ends (Objectives), Ways (Strategic Concepts), and Means (Resources).
(Barber 1997) However I have learned that goals and objectives of an organization are in continuous
change and they suffer from a lack of adaptation, our problems evolve and we fail to perceive the
subtle and not so subtle changes as well as not adjusting accordingly to the drift in direction (inertia).
That is why I think that a course such as this one is very valuable and offers many trends that are
current

In general, on the internet, every packet follows 5 layers of structures (Application, Transport,
Network, Data Link, and Physical). Since I have to talk about Connection Oriented and
Connectionless as a service, I will focus on the Transport layer because they are part of this layer. It
allows multiple applications to use one network connection simultaneously, the layer will create ports
on your computer allowing them to be reserved and used by the Application layer. Let s say that port
3600 will be used to send a message to port 80 of some other computer, whenever the port is ready to

Also, UDP is connectionless which means that there is no need for creating a connection first before
sending out data and have more control over when data is sent out. Because data corruption is a
common occurrence on the internet, UDP has a primitive form of error detection but it is not that
reliable because it doesn t recover the error it just will be discarded. Even if the network is busy, UDP
will try to cram packets in the network and this is a bad strategy because it will cause more collisions.
Here where TCP comes, for having certain features that make the connection more reliable. However,
it also has a bigger communication over than UDP. TCP s connection is based on negotiating first
before doing anything, this known as the three way handshake. If any error is detected, TCP offers
retransmission when a receiver doesn t get a delivery a package. So, it will send it again guaranteeing
your data to reach its destination in time and without duplication. Since all the work is done by the
operating system, It automatically breaks up data into packets for you. So you just need to sit back and
watch the show. Even the debugging is taken care of by your OS and if there are bugs in your OS, then
you will face many problems like problems in surfing and downloading contents from the net. I do

Leslie Sponsel s Approach to Investigation of the Amazon...
Leslie Sponsel takes a remarkably sensible approach to certain academic controversies over
anthropological investigation of the Amazon Basin. To some degree, Sponsel s article demands to be
understood in a larger context within the overall ecosystem of academic anthropology, so to speak. As
indicated in the title of her article, Sponsel approaches the subject with a special focus on adaptation,
which necessarily implies changing conditions. As she notes in her introductory remarks:
For convenience the review is organized around the following domains: ecosystem, cultural system,
change, and research trends and needs. An ecosystem is composed of abiotic and biotic components
which interact through the flow of energy, matter, and information, and all of this varies in space and
time. (67)
It is here that a reader in 2012 gets a glimpse of the much larger context. At the time of Sponsel s
writing in 1986, an ecological approach that included the flow of ¦information which varies in space
and time appears remarkable prescient, considering that in the three decades that have passed since the
article s original publication, Sponsel s own culture has undergone a complete technological
revolution in flow of ¦information : the Internet, the cellular telephone, the personal computer were all
in their infancy. This may seem like a minor point, but it indicates the fundamental validity of Sponsel
s approach: the contentious battles over theory between anthropologists like

Physical And Emotional Abuse Explored The Color Purple
Both physical and emotional abuse explored The Colour Purple and The Help helps to create
awareness of the central issues. Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female
characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into
the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is
written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she
was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of
her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if
Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to
actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia,
USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and
culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA,

Analysis Of Marcus Aurelius And Cicero
Both Marcus Aurelius and Cicero try to create a guide, based on their stoic views, on how a person is
supposed to live a purposeful life. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor and Cicero was a politician, so
both serve somebody or something. In Cicero s On Friendship he bases his guides on what he has
learned from important people in his life. In Marcus Aurelius Meditations he bases his guide off of
what he has learned as an emperor with stoic views. Some of what he Aurelius has learned is different
from Cicero s view of stoicism; an example of this is in section seven of Meditations. Section seven of
Meditations is about what Aurelius learned from his tutor. He states, Endure hardship, and have few

This point goes with what was previously stated, Cicero encourages doing things together and
allowing a friend to help. He also encourages interference with a friend s hardships or needs. In
section 73, Cicero answers the question, how much should we aid our friends? His answer is, We must
give them only such aid as is within our powers; second, only as much as the man we love and wish to
help can himself sustain (Cicero 77). Cicero definitely believes we should get involved with our friend
s issues but to a certain extent. As long as we can handle the amount of aid given and they can sustain
the amount given. Cicero does not believe friends should help with every little issue but he would say
that they should help with the larger issues that we cannot handle ourselves. Cicero would also
disagree with the point, turn a deaf ear to slander . Again, Cicero seems to be very confrontational. In
Cicero s view, he talks about flattery as a kind of slander. He is definitely against the use of flattery,
but he does not believe it should be ignored. He states in section 89, We may admonish, but we must
not scold; we may reprimand, but we must not humiliate (Cicero 84). Cicero believes people who
flatter should be confronted, whether it s by criticism or by reprimanding. He would say that they
should know what they are doing wrong because flattery is one of the worst things a friend could do.

What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population?
The two types of legislation that may or may not affect the aging population in the United States are;
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education
Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 respectively. Population aging may affect financial markets if
individuals tend to amass assets during their working years and spend them during retirement. When
there is a large cohort such as the baby boom, there may be more demand than usual for corporate
stock and other assets while the cohort saves for retirement. This demand for corporate stock and other
assets may abate after the cohort retires. (tonihansberry, 2012)

Aging Americans, like other age groups, are feeling the effects of the declining real estate and stock

In other words, the drought can really affect our economy as well as our social life. The Sierra Nevada
snowpack, which is counted on to provide 30 percent of the state s water supply as it melts through
early summer, is at its second lowest level on record. According to Hippo Reads, it will take about 11

U.S. reservoir to recover from California s continuing drought, according to a new analysis of NASA
satellite data.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought? How
can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although these issues
are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward developing more
resilient water supplies. One way is groundwater legislation: our Governor, Jerry Brown, signed
legislation mandating sustainable groundwater management, though the law leaves local entities to
define that idea further. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and our investments,
that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov). Another way our government is helping
is the spending on water projects.

Employees at the headquarters are required to use their own mugs instead of buying plastic coffee

Noki The World Leader Of The Mobile Phone Market
Nokia Microsoft Acquisition:
For more than a decade Nokia was the world leader in the mobile phone market. It is evident from the
fact that Nokia 1100 was the world s bestselling mobile phone. NOKIA was also one of the first
companies to recognize the market potential for a product combined from gaming console and a
mobile phone. Failure to recognize the market potential in the smart phone segment has put NOKIA
out of the market eventually. Microsoft made one of its huge acquisitions by purchasing Nokia s
mobile business in 2014. A number of fixed costs are associated with smart phone manufacturing. By
acquiring Nokia, Microsoft has fixed costs such as Intellectual property, Test equipment, and
manufacturer contracts. In other words, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Opportunity cost for Windows Phone:
The Investment decision to acquire a company like Nokia that has already been losing its shine among
the customers for making no major improvement to tackle the competitor, creates serious doubts
among the shareholders and the customers of the Microsoft. On any given day, a company would
obviously prefer quick profits from their investments. By buying out Nokia, Microsoft clearly
suggests that it is looking to broadening the business towards making its own mobile phone. Now
what is the opportunity cost for the customer to buying a Windows smart phone? The good thing that
happened from the acquisition is that the consumers have three major choices of Operating system to
buy from. The opportunity cost of buying a NokiaWindows smartphone is the foregone cost of buying
either an Android or iOS smart phone. The question is that to what extent the customers would prefer
Windows smart phones over the likes of Android and iOS smart phones.
The incentive problem and solution:
For a very long time Microsoft stood reluctant to make Microsoft office suite available for Apple
users. Later on, the executives at Microsoft decided

  • 9. Persuasive Speech About Weight Have you exhausted yourself trying to lose that extra weight? Have you gone on every diet and bought every gimmick that other women have had success with to no avail? Losing weight is just more difficult for some of us than others, which can be discouraging But if you figure out WHY this is occurring, well, then you can change it. First of all, think about your habits and the foods you consume. Are you a smoker, dependent upon caffeine, or binge drink a few nights a week? Are the majority of your meals prepackaged foods, I m even talking about those alleged diet meals , that you can just heat up and go? Do you usually base your meals around foods that have been previously prepared (I m talking soups, pizzas, cereal, chips, etc.)? Even if you choose the low fat versions of these processed foods, it s not positively a healthful choice. The issue with these habits, is that they are not NATURAL. You can t allow all of these alien, and even detrimental substances in your body, and assume it will perform optimally. The nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, food preservatives, and additives are in no way shape or form good for us. In point of fact, they are very damaging. Stop and consider the numerous people now a days that live with or even die of disease? Medicine and science are advancing, yet people are getting more diseased and debilitated. What Is Marilyn Monroe Mental Illness Marilyn Monroe and Mental Illness By: Whitworth PSY 410 May 20, 2012 Marilyn Monroe and Mental Illness Marilyn Monroe, her given name Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born on June 1, 1926. The name Norma Jeane Mortenson was baptized as Norma Jeane Baker (Bio True Story, 2012). When Marilyn was born, during the 1920 s, single parenting was not regarded highly. Marilyn s mother, Gladys Mortenson, named Marilyn after Norma Tallmadge, famous actor during the mid 1920 s. Marilyn was born with no father figure in which to influence her life. During Norma Jeane s childhood she was known to have fantasized that she was the daughter of Clark Gabel, she had often told school mates that her father was a famous Hollywood actor (Doll, 1998 2012). It is known that Norma Jeane never did formally meet the man whom she thought was her biological father, Gifford (Doll, 1998 2012). Doll (1998 2012), When she was a teenager, she tried to speak with him by telephone. She identified herself as Norma Jeane, Gladys s daughter, but the party on the other end of the line simply hung up. (Para. 7). It is easy to underestimate the significance of the stories surrounding Norma Jeane s early life, yet it appears that she felt a profound sadness at never having known her father. This alone left an emotional scare. The conflicting stories the fantasies about who her father was, is a mere representation of her attempts to put her early life into presepective, in spite of a dim past (Doll, 1998 2012). Unfortunately these attempts were not enough to for the actress, it is noted that shortly before her death, Norma Jeane filled out an official document, witnessed by her personal secretary, where the father is listed as unknown (Doll, 1998 2012). • 11. Worship God Reflection I stared out at the sunset from my post of land in the woods. The bleeding of reds, oranges, and pinks together perfectly reflected onto the shimmering lake. My stomach ached, but the taste of beauty made the pain somewhat bearable. This past summer, I went on a La Vida trip, where I was required to do a solo experience, where I was denied food and social interactions for two days. Fasting was proven to be difficult, but it was through that experience that I began to understand the concept of giving all yourself in worship to God. Most of my life I was only familiar with worshiping God with my time, resources, or through song. In denying myself food, I was shown how to worship God through fasting. From the lessons I learned at La Vida, my goals for the next four years are to do what Jesus said in Luke 10:27: to love the Lord (my) God with all (my) heart and with all (my) soul and with all (my) strength. Over these four years, I plan to worship God through every aspect of my life, including but not limited to in my academic and musical pursuits. Through my academics, I hope to be diligent in my pursuit of knowledge, to grow in my character, and to worship God. In the Liberal Arts for the Christian Life, Jeffrey C. Davis emphasized that education can be a means of worshiping the Lord. In all my pursuits of knowledge, I should study as if I m working for the Lord, not for human masters (Col. 3:23). Then, through this discipline and training of faithfulness, I can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Abortion Of The Fetus I am going to argue that its is right to claim that, even if a fetus is a person, abortion is still permissible when one s risk in health/stability/happiness is threatened. I believe that any woman, who houses the fetus inside her body for estimated nine months have the right and the choice to abortion when it is for one s health, stability and happiness for both the mother and the unborn fetus. Thomson s argument is entitled as Defense to Abortion . I agree to Thomson and her argument when it comes to aborting a fetus, even if a fetus is a person. Yes, it has it s own DNA, and it s own life but when it threatens the house that it stays in, which in this case would be the woman/mother s womb, I believe the abortion of the fetus, is permissible. Thomson states it cannot be seriously thought to be murder if the mother performs an abortion on herself to save her life. (Thomson, Defense on Abortion, pg6) Thomson gives an example of a violinist being plugged into another human, using their blood in high hopes of survival by that person s kidneys extracting the poison from the violinist s blood. The person never agreed to do such, being that it was decided by the Society of Music Lovers; but did not go against it by detaching himself from the violinist knowing that it can cause death. This explains that there are events where we don t have much of a freedom of choice when there is a conscious person/life involved meaning, when there is a conscious life in our hands, ... The goal for the experiment was to distinguish the perpetrator of the crime through the observation of the DNA in each suspect. In order to do this, each collection of the certain DNA was initially stained in order for it to be visible and separated into smaller fragments with restriction enzymes. Gel electrophoresis was used to separate the DNA molecules based on size. To do this, a micropipette and agarose gel were utilized. The micropipette collected 10 microliters of each DNA at a time and was meticulously placed inside a well of the porous gel. After one specific DNA was used, it was ensured that the DNA from that collection did not contaminate the other through the use of the micropipette. Once the marker DNA, crime ... Then, a line of best fit was drawn for reference. The distance the DNA fragments of crime scene DNA, suspect one s DNA, and suspect two s DNA had traveled through the agarose gel was calculated. Once those values were known, the points along the line of best fit that were intersected by the x axis values of the distance traveled by the DNA fragments were the estimated sizes of the separated DNA fragments. Once the sizes were discovered, the data was observed in order to exonerate and implicate a suspect. • 17. Why Does Jane Austen Use Of The Gothic Explore How Austen Makes Use of the Gothic in the Novel Throughout Northanger Abbey Jane Austen uses gothic horror to describe main events that highly influence the outcome of the novel. The book bases its whole plot around gothic horror but it s not really a gothic horror but more of parody of a gothic horror. At the very start of the book (pages 3 4) Austen introduces the character of Catherine. She uses stereotypical characteristics from a normal Gothic Horror novel to somewhat tell the reader that Catherine is remarkably none of these things. As the reader this tells you Austen portrays her as a plain and unaccountable character with a very unremarkable life, not that of stereotypical heroine from a gothic horror novel. She tells ... Whilst at Northanger Catherine discovers a high old fashioned black cabinet within her room a rousing curiosity rouses within her and she investigates the contents of it. This is Austen once again using the plot of something from within your average gothic horror story to manipulate Catherine s imagination. As she reads so many gothic horror novels this is her mind linking real life to fantasy once again and imagining strange looking items that may be in one of her books to items of furniture in her apartment. Elements Of Science Fiction In Kindred Michael Blunt Mrs. Drew English 1 16 November 2017 Kindred Science Fiction and Historical Fiction Combine to Create a Powerful Novel ` In Kindred, Octavia Butler combines elements of science fiction and historical fiction to create a new genre. The science fiction aspect allows Butler s main character, Dana, to travel back to a southern plantation in the 1800s. The historical fiction part of the novel makes the story extremely believable and realistic. Butler uses these two genres to expose the harsh realities of life for an African American on an antebellum plantation in the 1800s, as well as to highlight that similar prejudices continue to exist in California in the 1970s. Kindred does not fit neatly into one specific genre because it incorporates elements from both science fiction and historical fiction which makes it into a new category. Kindred has many elements of science fiction because the mysterious element of time travel is key to the novel. In this novel, the main character, Dana, lives in California during 1976 and travels back in time to the antebellum South. Here where TCP comes, for having certain features that make the connection more reliable. However, it also has a bigger communication over than UDP. TCP s connection is based on negotiating first before doing anything, this known as the three way handshake. If any error is detected, TCP offers retransmission when a receiver doesn t get a delivery a package. So, it will send it again guaranteeing your data to reach its destination in time and without duplication. Since all the work is done by the operating system, It automatically breaks up data into packets for you. So you just need to sit back and watch the show. Even the debugging is taken care of by your OS and if there are bugs in your OS, then you will face many problems like problems in surfing and downloading contents from the net. I do prefer the TCP service because it does all the work for you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Leslie Sponsel s Approach to Investigation of the Amazon... Leslie Sponsel takes a remarkably sensible approach to certain academic controversies over anthropological investigation of the Amazon Basin. To some degree, Sponsel s article demands to be understood in a larger context within the overall ecosystem of academic anthropology, so to speak. As indicated in the title of her article, Sponsel approaches the subject with a special focus on adaptation, which necessarily implies changing conditions. As she notes in her introductory remarks: For convenience the review is organized around the following domains: ecosystem, cultural system, change, and research trends and needs. An ecosystem is composed of abiotic and biotic components which interact through the flow of energy, matter, and information, and all of this varies in space and time. (67) It is here that a reader in 2012 gets a glimpse of the much larger context. At the time of Sponsel s writing in 1986, an ecological approach that included the flow of ¦information which varies in space and time appears remarkable prescient, considering that in the three decades that have passed since the article s original publication, Sponsel s own culture has undergone a complete technological revolution in flow of ¦information : the Internet, the cellular telephone, the personal computer were all in their infancy. This may seem like a minor point, but it indicates the fundamental validity of Sponsel s approach: the contentious battles over theory between anthropologists like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Physical And Emotional Abuse Explored The Color Purple Both physical and emotional abuse explored The Colour Purple and The Help helps to create awareness of the central issues. Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia, USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA, after the uproar of the civil rights movement; she is an English/Creative Writing graduate of the University of Alabama. Through further reading of Kathryn Stocketts upbringing in multiple articles, growing up in Mississippi, Stockett had a much pampered lifestyle; she had a maid working in her house, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her. • 38. Analysis Of Marcus Aurelius And Cicero Both Marcus Aurelius and Cicero try to create a guide, based on their stoic views, on how a person is supposed to live a purposeful life. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor and Cicero was a politician, so both serve somebody or something. In Cicero s On Friendship he bases his guides on what he has learned from important people in his life. In Marcus Aurelius Meditations he bases his guide off of what he has learned as an emperor with stoic views. Some of what he Aurelius has learned is different from Cicero s view of stoicism; an example of this is in section seven of Meditations. Section seven of Meditations is about what Aurelius learned from his tutor. He states, Endure hardship, and have few needs; to do things for myself and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This point goes with what was previously stated, Cicero encourages doing things together and allowing a friend to help. He also encourages interference with a friend s hardships or needs. In section 73, Cicero answers the question, how much should we aid our friends? His answer is, We must give them only such aid as is within our powers; second, only as much as the man we love and wish to help can himself sustain (Cicero 77). Cicero definitely believes we should get involved with our friend s issues but to a certain extent. As long as we can handle the amount of aid given and they can sustain the amount given. Cicero does not believe friends should help with every little issue but he would say that they should help with the larger issues that we cannot handle ourselves. Cicero would also disagree with the point, turn a deaf ear to slander . Again, Cicero seems to be very confrontational. In Cicero s view, he talks about flattery as a kind of slander. He is definitely against the use of flattery, but he does not believe it should be ignored. He states in section 89, We may admonish, but we must not scold; we may reprimand, but we must not humiliate (Cicero 84). Cicero believes people who flatter should be confronted, whether it s by criticism or by reprimanding. He would say that they should know what they are doing wrong because flattery is one of the worst things a friend could do. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought? How can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although these issues are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward developing more resilient water supplies. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and our investments, that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov).
