Otto Von Bismarck-German Unification-Nationalism
Otto von Bismarck German Unification
Nationalism and liberalism were two popular political philosophies of the late 19th century.
Nationalism is the aspiration of a people with a common language, culture and traditions to be unified.
Nationalism grew into a movement after 1815, influenced by literature, music, politics and economic
developments between the northern Germany states. By 1848, nationalism was strong among
Germans, but the course to unify German would prove to take time.
Between 1815, the end of the Napoleonic Wars, and 1850 the German states experienced a growth of
nationalism and the desire for unity. The obstacles to German unification were religious divisions,
rulers fear of losing power, and the opposition from Austria. The tension and rivalry that existed
between the two largest German states intensified and the existing religious divisions and made the
possibility of unification more difficult.
While the religious division of the Prussia Protestant and that of the dominating Austria Catholics was
an important factor, the opposition from Austria and the rulers were more important. Nationalism
became this progressively intensifying cycle that eventually climaxes into war. Many began to put
aside the idealistic ideas of society and began to embrace the realities of society as competitive and
combative. Under the calculated guidance of Otto von Bismarck, Germany would finally be on the
promising path of unification.
Plans for unification started long

The Death Penalty Is Inhumane
Death row inmates around the world are held in appalling conditions: the cells are not suitable for a
human being; the dietary regime is inadequate; and access to medical care is difficult.
Not only are inmates placed in physically cruel and unusual circumstances, but their mind is also
greatly affected by their situation, with many death row inmates suffering from mental illness and
mental disabilities as a result of their death sentence, stresses the World Coalition Against the Death
Penalty.
The effects of murder cannot be erased by more killing, and the death system prolongs the suffering of
victims families. It inflicts more pain on families of those on death row, and it is inefficient as it has
never shown that it deters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If any one wants to appeal then it becomes a burdensome process for him often resulting in denial of
justice.
4. Lack of Deterrence The purpose of any punishment should be deterrence from repeating the same
act. But, according to the statistics available, the death penalty has not been effective in controlling the
homicide rate. The studies have revealed the shocking truth that executions actually increase the
murder rate. That means the capital punishment does not deter violent crime. According to a New
York Times study, the last 20 years witnessed 48% homicide rate in states with the implementation of
capital punishment compared to 23% in the states without capital punishment.
5. The prolonged uncertainty The validity to the deterrence argument is annulled by the delays,
endless appeals, retrials, and technicalities that keep persons predestined to capital punishment waiting
for execution for years. In fact, we are not competent enough to carry out execution. This uncertainty
and incompetence offers another great injustice. It is itself cruel and a form of torture.
6. Justifying circumstances Sometimes, persons suffering from emotional trauma, abandonment,
violence, neglect or destructive social environment commit such heinous crimes. These mitigating
situations can have devastating effect on their humanity. So, it is unfair to hold them fully responsible
for their crimes. It is our communal responsibility to

Definitional issues: entrepreneurship, micro enterprise and rurality Numerous definition of
entrepreneurship can also be found in the literature. Hisrich and Peters (1998) define entrepreneurship
as the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary time effort assuming
the accompanying financial, physic and social risks and receiving the resulting rewards of monetary
and personal satisfaction and independence while Zacharis et al (2000) define entrepreneurship as any
attempt to create a new business enterprise or to expand existing business by an individual, ateam
individuals or an established business . Micro enterprises are typically defined as very small,
informally run businesses, involved in activities other than crop production. In the United States,
Canada and Britain, small scale business is defined according to the number of paid employees and
total annual turnover. In Britain for example, businesses with an annual sales of £2 million or less and
have less than 200 paid employees will be classified as small scale business. In Malaysia, small
enterprise covers all enterprises employing between 5 49 workers; medium scale enterprise employs
between 50 199 workers and large enterprise has more than 200 employees. Micro enterprise employs
less than 5 workers and is normally treated as an informal sector under the Ministry of States and
Regional Development. There are still

Importance Of Patient Centered Care In Pharmacy
Patient centered care is something I think should ve been a part of the pharmacy field since pharmacy
has started though, it was to a different extent. Patient centered care for me is to mold/modify a
treatment plan according to the patient s needs and to consider them in the treatment plan when
making one up. Most doctors are likely to just tell the patient what their condition is and what they
should take and just tell them what they need to know instead of asking them questions like what are
some complications they have been facing while they are following the treatment plan and addressing
them. I think it s important to have patient centered care because then the patient is more likely to trust
their doctor and are willing to follow their plan even if it is uncomfortable to them.
During my IPPE, my preceptor asked me a question, why would a patient follow through their
medication regimen? I told him, that it s because they believe that the medication will work for them.
After that, he told me trust in their pharmacist is the key. Then, I understood it, that no matter what the
scenario is if the patient is willing to trust their healthcare professional, then they would be willing to
follow their care plan and understand their intentions for them, instead of them just listening through
one ear and out the other. From all of this, the patient gets the most benefit and it all comes down to
patient centered care overall.

Dale Earnhardt Essay
Dale Earnhardt grew up in automotive racing. Ever since he was a kid that is what his family did, and
now his family carries on that legacy. Dale Earnhardt grew up in Kannapolis, North Carolina, a textile
mill town. His father, Ralph Earnhardt, was known as Iron heart on the short track racing circuit, and
he taught Dale how to drive stock cars and work with engines. His father had converted a barn behind
the family home into a garage, and he was well known for his skill with engines. Earnhardt s earliest
memory is of watching his father race. Dale dropped out of high school after the eighth grade because
he tried ninth grade twice and just couldn t do it. After he dropped out, Dale worked odd jobs, drove
dirt tracks, and also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dale s father helped him out with racing by helping him build motors, and giving him used tires left.
When his father died it left Dale in a situation where he had to make it on his own. Dale once said, I d
give up everything I got if he were still alive, but I don t think I d be where I am if he hadn t died.
Dale s first break in to racing was in 1975 when he drove in his first Winston cup race, coming in at
22nd. For Dale, unlike many other drivers, driving was not a hobby, it was almost his only means of
support. If he was short of money, he borrowed from other drivers, hoping that he would win the next
Sunday s race so he could pay them back on Monday. Dale was a fearless driver, but he was also
astonishingly precise. Dale s first major break was in 1978, when he replaced another driver in the
world cup 600, in Charlotte N.C. where he placed 7th one race, that is when he caught the eye of a
Winston cup car owner. That owners name was Rod Osterlund and wasn t happy with his current
driver. Rod replaced his current driver with Dale for the next to last race of that season, and Dale
drove with his characteristic fearlessness, refusing to be intimidated by the experienced drivers he was
competing against. This won him a full time position driving for Osterlund, and in only his 16th start,
he had his first win. By 1979, Earnhardt was named

The Future of Solar Technology
The future of solar technology clearly lies away from the expensive rigid structure of extensive silicon
crystalline structures, and towards the non silicon based technologies. Governments and private firms
must continue to invest the capital needed to fund research and development in these fields of more
flexible and versatile solar cells in order to acheieve higher efficiencies and improve the
manufacturing process of these technologies; as currently they remain in their infancy.
3.4 Non Silicon Based Polycrystalline cells
Research into non silicon based solar cells is an exciting stage, with labs all over the world making
advances in this field. It has been hypothesized and proven that other semi conductor materials can be
doped to provide the conductive layer necessary for a solar cell to work. Copper oxide was used, but it
was found to not retain the doping agents well; to overcome this a new type of cell called screening
engineered field effect photovoltaics (SPFV s) were produced. These require a small electric field to
be present in order to keep the p n junction functioning, this electric field is far less than the electricity
that can be generated from the cell, and the reduced cost of not having to use silicon makes this a more
than viable resource. (Anthony, 2012)
Copper Indium Gallium Selenide cells (CIGS) are another branch of thin film photovoltaics being
researched, with laboratory prototypes achieving efficiencies of approximately 18%. CIGS cells have

How Does Othello Change Throughout The Play
Shakespeare prided himself on being a writer for the people. Authors during his time were more
sophisticated and their plays never seemed to translate to a larger audience. Plays were perceived as
something only the wealthy and elite got to participate in. But Shakespeare changed all that when
began to include the public. He turned theater into something relatable with an emphasis on sex, love,
violence and a sort of crude humor. He made his characters real. They were ravished with flaws and
became naturally empathic as the play went on. To achieve this a certain basic human psychology has
to be applied. And though it did not have these labels yet, grit and mindset are things that makes these
characters so relatable. Grit is described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

leaving her husband for him, which is proven impossibility. But he keeps going not on his own will.
He wants to give up multiple times. In reality Roderigo knows that he can never achieve this dream
but because he is so insecure and easily influenced Iago is able to control his judgement. In acts 1,2
and 4 there are so many examples of his lack of grit. In Act 1 his hopes are deterred when the Duke

influences him to fight Cassio but he just ends up losing and wanting to quit. But once again master
manipulator Iago persuades him to keep marching on. Then finally in act 4 Roderigo is tired of the
smell of failure and wants to see some results and Iago is responsible for everything he lost if he doesn

Essay On Teenage Wasteland
In the story Teenage Wasteland, Donny is kind of a dump. Donny is one of those bad kids that gets
into trouble all the time. His parents don t realise where he s going until the time when the story takes
place. His mom gets him a tutor, who lets him do kind of whatever he wants, so he ends up getting
expelled from school. The takeaway of this story is that you should try hard in school and life. That is
inseparably connected with the fact that you should not do what donny did. Donny is a hoodlum. His
grades raised only a little bit, but he was caught with alcohol. And if that isn t enough, he took
advantage of his tutor, and got himself expelled. At the beginning of the story, the author describes
Donny s personality, and physical features. It says that when he was little, he was actually a good fun
kid. Then he grew up, and became a hoodlum. He hangs out with the wrong type of kids, and he gets
into trouble now. But there is a potential good kid inside him. He just hides it. On page 1 and 2, it says
As he grew older, his hair grew darker, and he wore it longer, past his collar even. It hung in lank taffy

expelled. There had been a locker check, and in Donny s locker they found five cans of beer and half a
pack of cigarettes. With Donny s previous record, this offense meant expulsion. So Donny got himself
expelled, by having beer, and cigarettes in his locker. That just means Donny was doing the opposite

Main Themes In The Hobbit By J. J. R. Tolkien
Theme Essay This paper is about the theme of the book, The Hobbit by: J. R. R. Tolkien. There will be
3 main topics to describe the theme of this book. The first main point is the fact that Bilbo Baggins,
who is the main character of the book, is sheltered until Gandalf, a wizard, and his dwarf friends invite
Bilbo on an adventure. The second point, is when Bilbo starts to find his true braveness. He does some
things that bring out and show off how he can be brave and he s not just a cowardly Hobbit. Finally,
the last main point is how Bilbo is wise and trusted among his fellow wizard, and dwarves. In the

Further along the story the Dwarves go into a cave where Bilbo finds a ring. This ring happens to
belong to Gollum who likes to eat anything he sees. Then Gollum and Bilbo run into each other and
they have a riddle contest. Bilbo ends up accidently beating Gollum in the contest(71)You can start to
tell from Bilbo s actions that he is getting more and more brave. He does not start to freak out like he
used to when something went wrong but he calms down and breaks down the situation. His excelling
bravery is in turn moving the story due to him being able to adventure just like a dwarf.Bilbo is
getting used to doing some daring things. He pick pocketed a big, scary, hungry troll even though it
could have easily killed him.Bilbo is starting to gain a good reputation among his friends due to his
bravery. Because Bilbo has shown that he can do things other Hobbits can not, he has gained trust and
wisdom from his friendsA example of this wisdom coming into play was when Bilbo and Gollum
were having a riddle battle, and Bilbo ended up tricking Gollum on this on riddle, what have I got in
my pocket! Bilbo ended up winning this battle and did not get eaten(71). Also, Bilbo ends up getting
out of the Misty Mountains by himself and Gandalf was at the end waiting for him for a while because

Narrative Essay On Roaring Dollars
Ever heard of a relaxing time with your loved ones? This year, specifically June 17th, 2017, I went to
Boise, ID for my Cousin s Thirteenth Birthday. We went to Roaring Springs (On June 18th) which was
like the Dollarama version of Hurricane Harbor in Six Flags, where we celebrated his birthday. There
were about fourteen or fifteen of us, me, my Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt s, Uncle s, Cousin
s, and a few friends. We were all very anxious about what s to come and how we re going to handle an
exclusive time with people we care for.
We were in the car and my little cousin was extremely annoying, so I almost threw him out the
window, but I didn t because it was tremendously scorching, which leads to the reason on why we
went to the Water Park. We got to the parking lot and the vision of the Water Park didn t exceed with
my expectations because I thought it would be much bigger. The only thing that ruined it for me is my
cousin peed on the side of my aunt s tire and I bolted to the entrance, so I couldn t see. There were
fifteen tickets and it took about an hour because the scanner wasn t working and it kept shutting off
after each ticket. Luckily, I was first, so I just went through not caring about anyone or anything and
got our seats.
At first, we sang Happy Birthday to my cousin the traditional way, before we went out and had fun.
My cousin got a few, but not a lot of presents. He got a Black History Month, Golden State Warriors
shirt with a big NBA logo on the back. He also got a mini hoop that he hung on the door after our trip.
Another one of his gifts was from one of his closest friends I m pretty sure, which was a Golden State
Warriors plush blanket. His last gift was from us which was Under Armour shorts and thirty five
dollars as well. My family and his family ordered food burgers, fries, chicken, and tater tots which
were surprisingly pretty good. The tots were fresh out of the oven salted and peppered up to
perfection. They had Sriracha, which was one of my favorite spicy sauces which I dipped the tots in
and I almost passed out because it was so deliciously spicy. My only complaint is that they weren t hot
and extremely cold, but it was still pretty good. Afterwards, we went to go on rides that

Five Theories Of Natural Selection
Natural Selection, a key mechanism of evolution is the progressive process by which biological traits
either become more or less common in a community or population as a result of inherited traits on
different reproductive success of organisms with their environment. Charles Darwin in fact put
together an articulate theory of evolution and supported it with a good amount of body evidence in
1859 when he published his book. Natural selection is too however a basic mechanism of evolution
like mutation, migration and genetic drift. In order for natural selection to work, Darwin came up with
5 different theories that brought about evolution. The five theories are: evolution, common descent,
species multiply, gradualism, and natural selection itself. Evolution is when species come and go
through time, while they exist they change. Common descent is organisms are descended from one, or
several common ancestors and have diversified from this original stock. Species multiply is the
diversification of life involving populations of one species diverging until they become two separate
species; this has probably occurred billions of times on earth. Gradualism is evolutionary change
occurring through incremental small changes within populations; new species are not created
suddenly. Animals and plants of all sorts undergo changes through natural selection. The peacock is a
unique animal that stood out to me that undergoes natural selection. There are different kinds of
selection but

easier to look for any wanted information as it was a lot quicker and I was able to personalise the type
of search that I wanted to conduct. I also had the facility to screen print, copy the main points and get
the images instantly so that I could show it as my reference. Non internet sources was also very useful
to find the information but I had to spend more time while researching as I had to flick through many
pages just to find the article about the laptops and the information that I gained were all very limited.
The possible improvement would be that if I tried researching more using the non internet sources by
talking with the technology experts etc. There were many dates that I had come across during the
research of the pull out section. In order to check that if the dates were correct I looked into many
different search engines which showed that the dated that I obtained were accurate. To check the
reliability of the results in the search engines I researched typed Osborne 1 in Google, Bing, Yahoo

manor house is made similarly to a castle in the way that it was built with great craft (Alchin, Manor
House ). The house was made out of wood such as oak and stone (Alchin, Manor House ). There was
a great hall which included high ceilings and was used as a common space.(Alchin, Manor House ).
Rush Dips, Candles, Torches, and Lanterns were used for light. (Alchin, Manor House ). There was a
chapel to the side and a kitchen made out of tile, and included an oven (Alchin, Manor House ). And a

cooking was done outside. (Hazen 3). Women serfs took care of the household (Hazen 2). Farmers
used 3 field method to farm the most food as possible (Hazen 2). One field was for spring, one field

Abby s Lies In The Crucible
In the play The Crucible, Arthur Miller demonstrates that fear causes people to lie, even if it leads to
murder, in order to protect themselves. We see this primarily in Abigail Williams, who at first lies to

death of many innocent people. She is unwilling to admit to her lies to protect herself, even while
others are killed. Abigail lies about what happens in the forest. She participated but lies about it. In act

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and
internet culture is shaping the development of today s society.
Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone
use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage.
Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the
purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video
online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely
based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its
charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This
quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the
projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting
the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for
validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both

The Importance Of Thinking Skills In Education
Education can be seen as the main way of developing individuals and society. The creation and use of
knowledge depends on ability to think. Good thinking could be viewed as empowering for individuals
and society. Perhaps most importantly in today s information age, thinking skills are viewed as crucial
for educated persons to cope with a rapidly changing world. Many educators believe that specific
knowledge will not be as important to tomorrow s workers and citizens as the ability to learn and
make sense of new information (Gough, D., 1991). School administrators have to recognize that
teaching core subjects alone is not sufficient to equip students for the knowledge economy. To be
prepared for the demands of the knowledge economy, students need to know how to use their
knowledge and skills, applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending
new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, and making decisions. One important
skill students need to have is thinking skills (Salpeter, J., 2003). Human resource management is one
of the support activities which though not directly involved in production will increase effectiveness
and efficiency in the creation of goods and services. Indeed, human resources are the major source of
competitive advantage for any business firm. Great attention thus needs to be paid to human resource
and its management as this will impact on performance of any organization. 2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES

Richard Nixon s Impact On The Nation
In his first couple of months in the oval office, Richard Nixon positively impacted the nation. As did
most previous presidents do, Nixon had put himself right into action making sure he could build up
and maintain and good reputation in office. But soon after completing his first term, disaster struck
just as reelection was coming up. Nixon had destroyed his reputation, and by doing so showed the
people how easy it was to be successful at a point and then lose it all due to one event, Watergate. Paul
H. Elovitz, who teaches at Farleigh Dickinson University and is a founding faculty member of
Ramapo College of New Jersey, begins to break down Nixon s scenario. Elovitz comments, Among

Nixon worked hard for all the goals he reached, but as it is emphasized, Nixon s major failure brought
his reputation to the dumps. We can see that Elovitz wanted readers to see how one man can achieve
so much for so long, then lose everything because of one event. In Edward D. Berkowitz s early books
about what occurred in the seventies, both cultural and political, he discusses the topic of the
Watergate scandal, viewing it more as a criminal act and misuse in power that develops from a spoiled
and corrupted mind. I truly believe that Nixon s purpose for the misuse in power came from his
corrupted mind that desired more power and recognition from the American people. We do not see
Edward jump right into the Watergate scandal, but work his way up to it following events that may or
may not have changed Nixon s desire for power. When Edward begins to discuss the scandal, he opens
with in his zeal to win, which comes to mind as Nixon stopping at nothing to pursue victory, even at
great risks. Later being involved in the Watergate scandal, we learn that Nixon was entangled with the
scandal (Berkowitz 19). Part of Nixon s staff had broken into the Watergate hotel in attempt to bug the
Democratic National Headquarters. As explained by Berkowitz, Nixon s men were no ordinary

Merchant Shipping Activities Remain The Pillar Of Global...
1. Introduction
According to the OECD (2012) merchant shipping activities remain the pillar of global trade, with
more than 80% of international cargo transported via sea. Throughout history, maritime activities have
played a vital role in shaping the world, from fishing, to the transport of people during the age of
discovery, as well as global trade. With world trade growth being the core driving force behind
maritime trade, other factors include; institutional and technological factors, freedom of trade, as well
as China s participation in the global economy (World Ocean Review n.d.). As shipping is a derived
demand, developments in maritime transport are thus shaped by global macroeconomic trends. The
biggest problem in shipping is the ability to forecast long term freight rates, and current tools such as
generalized autoagressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) are often aimed at short term
correlation. GARCH is an approach which helps describe market volatility (Investopedia n.d.). Freight
rates essentially drive the shipping industry in terms of fleet size, and are often a good indication of
the strength or weakness of the shipping market. The volatile state of the current market means the
accurate need for forecasting and keeping up to date with trends is imperative. This report aims to
provide an overview of current trends in merchant shipping.

Stone Container
Background
J.H. Stone Sons, a cardboard container and paper products manufacturer was founded by Joseph Stone
in 1926 and after World War II reincorporated as Stone Container Corporation. Early on in its
conception Stone was able to grow significantly by way of acquisition. The company had a policy of
paying for its acquisitions either entirely in cash or borrowing funds with early repayment. Continuing
to grow, the company became publicly owned when it issued its first 250,000 shares of stock in 1947.
After its first IPO, Stone was able to widen its reach demographically. The company began acquiring
even more to better diversify itself in the paper industry. By 1987 Stone had quintupled its production
capacity but had borrowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the year of March 1993 to March 1994, the company would:
• continue to pay $400 to $425 million in interest on its debt
• make debt repayments of $365 million
• extend, refinance, or replace another $400 million in revolving credit that was scheduled to
terminate
• be required to make $100 million of new capital expenditures
• face pre tax losses of $450 to $500 million
Problem Statement Having seen great success with acquisition in the past, Stone Container
Corporation hasn t seen the results it would have hoped for recently. Stone disregarded its policy to
only buy when it could pay in cash or pay their debts back quickly. This in turn left them with the
uncertainty on how to pay back the large amounts of debt that were taken on. Because the company s
original plan to refinance their loans with high yielding bonds went south; they now face the problem
of which of the five alternatives available to them is the best plan of action to take to arrive at a sound
financial plan. This plan will need to relieve the immense debt that is plaguing them, help it get
through the paper pricing trough, and also restore the company to its former glory of financial
stability.
Debt Relief Avenues Available to Stone Container Corporation
1. The terms on the bank loans could be renegotiated to extend their maturities and ease some of the
binding covenants. Fees for this transaction would range from $70 to $80 million.

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to swim
and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and watched
performances of plays.
Sport in ancient Egypt like all other aspects of ancient Egyptian culture was closely linked up with
religion. During feasts, the public entered the great temples to see and petition their deities and watch

Do you play games? Maybe you go to the movies. How about listening to music? These are all things
we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun? From what we
have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend. They listened to
musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The history of sport probably
extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and active beings. Sport has been
a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the environment. Of course, as we go
further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories of the origins and purposes of sport
difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary
equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were
rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in

Break Break Break Analysis
The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming quatrain
stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man who has
recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are death,
sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his tongue will
not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrase displays the emotional distress
being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for what he is unable to say. He
does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but rather blames the inability on his
tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this emotional distress the author is
experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand/And the sound of a voice that is still
(11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards the conclusion that the author has lost
someone with whom he was close. The author continues to use the physical world to describe the one
he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death within the poem. The combination of his inability to
say what thoughts he has and his use of physical world descriptions for this missing person may
indicate that he is still in the early stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author
includes implications of jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a
fisherman s boy playing joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully
in his boat on the bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this
phrase before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of
these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again experience the
joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of but the tender grace
of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors thoughts of jealousy and death
lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the day that he was able to enjoy the

Characteristics Oedipus A King
Myles Derr
Topic 3 Some characteristics Oedipus shows while he is a king is his impatience, his ability to act
rashly, and how quick he likes to take action. One example of this is on page 18 of The Oedipus Cycle
when he says, What a wicked old man you are! You d try a stone s patience! Out with it! Oedipus says
this after Teiresias refuses to tell him what he knows about the murderer of the previous king of
Thebes. Instead of trying to persuade him further or just accept that Teiresias won t tell Oedipus what
he wants to know, his impatience causes him to act rashly and start insulting the seer. Another example
of Oedipus s tendency to act quickly appears on page 28 when Oedipus says to Creon, You murderer!
Do you think I do not know that you plotted to kill me, plotted to steal my throne? Prior to their
conversation, Oedipus asks his brother in law, Creon, to bring Teiresias to him so they may ask him
what he knows. After Teiresias refuses to share what he knows with Oedipus, he eventually tells him
that Oedipus is the murderer that he is seeking. Just from this, Oedipus quickly comes to the
conclusion that Creon urged Teiresias to say this in order to usurp the throne. Another example of
Oedipus s rashness appears on page 43 of The Oedipus Cycle, The groom leading the horses forced
me off the road at his lord s command; but as this charioteer lurched over towards me I struck him in
my rage . . . Swinging my club in this right hand I knocked him out of his

Marilyn Manson s Music Video Based On A Song The Dope...
The Dope Show is Marilyn Manson s music video based on a song The Dope Show from the album
Mechanical Animals . The video was directed by Paul Hunter. Marilyn Manson was the co director.
The video was filmed in the beginning of August 1998 and has its premiere on 20th August in the
same year. In the music video can be seen the leader of the rock band, Marilyn Manson himself, who
appears in the area of Hollywood Hills as an androgynous, red haired person. In the further part of the
video the singer is being kept in a mysterious laboratory and then transported to a place where he
performs a music concert as a leader of his rock band. He performs in front of amazed fans who are
being under control of the police.
The video starts with a flash of white light (key light), close up on syringes and the main character in
the video. The singer may be seen in a vast mountainous area. The light represents the dominant light
source in the scene. (Jackson, 2010, p. 196) It seems to be a signifier of the importance of the person
who is in the middle of action. A big number of quick zooms indicates both him and mentioned in the
beginning of the paragraph objects. It leads to conclusion that they may be considered as keynotes in
the music video (Jackson, 2010). The syringes filled with a liquid that may be considered as a kind of
drug, which is present in the whole video. It leads to a conclusion, which may suggest that drugs are

One major limitation to Curved seawalls or seawalls in general is that they ruin the view and scene for
tourists. Although, seawalls protect and prevent any harm to human residence, a big tall concrete
structure instead of an open area with a view will ruin the tourist attraction in an area. Coming to a
beach, people and especially tourists would expect to have a beautiful scene with nothing blocking
their sight. Would a concrete wall ruin tourists view on shorelines or beaches? This connects to a
social aspect as people want to enjoy and have fun at the beach with sunny weather and also a great
view, but with a big concrete wall, tourists and people would not feel that welcomed. This also
connects to Beach reviews online as tourists might comment something negative about the scene and
view. This also connects to an economical aspect because tourists will not be as attracted to the beach
or shoreline as they used to be, meaning, that the workers in stores, shops or workers doing activities
will not earn as much money as not many people would be there.

Folk Hero Funny Guy
Folk Hero Funny Guy won t go down in anyone s book as a great film. On the other hand, you would
be hard pressed to find someone to hate it. It is simply fine. One of those movies where using the
phrase a pretty good flick to describe it would be accurate. Folk Hero Funny Guy is a light, amusing
bromance road trip movie. The film was started on Kickstarter, and is the directorial debut of actor
Jeff Grace. It follows Paul (Alex Karpovsky), a failing stand up comedian in the midst of a for lack of
a better term quarter life crisis. Paul s friend Jason (Wyatt Russell), on the other hand, is a successful
folk rock musician who is looking for a change of pace by going on a solo, acoustic tour to smaller,
more intimate crowds. After a night of drinking and catching up, Jason invites Paul to be the opening
act on his new tour in order to get Paul out of the house and out of his rut. After much convincing,
Paul eventually accepts. Think sort of like if Father John Misty went on tour, and his opening act was
your sort of funny friend. What follows is your pretty typical road trip movie, complete with hijinx,
misadventures, and montages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept itself is an interesting one, the ending is deserved (if wildly predictable), and in between

who the duo meet on the first night of the tour, and whom Jason drunkenly invites to join them on the
rest of the tour. Hagner brings her A game here, adding heart and realism to a part which is essentially
a plot device for Paul and Jason to have a falling out over. The soundtrack is another strong point,

My Love For Dance
When I first started to dance my family was very supportive and helped me prepare. There was never
dancing in my household, dance was an interest I developed on my own. I have a very small family so
it s just me, my mom and dad so we do not have special events with music and dancing. My mom and
dad is very supportive of my dance aspirations. Especially my mom has pushed me during the times
that I no longer wanted to dance and she has encouraged me to keep dancing and keep trying my best.
When I was in my junior year of high school I was questioning if I wanted to dance anymore because
I wanted to feel the freedom of being a normal teenager and go out with friends after school and not
go to dance rehearsals all night long. My mom encouraged me to remember why I danced and that I
have a gift and I shouldn t waste it. Looking back at my experiences of balancing high school and
competition dance I do not regret it. I am very proud that I stuck with it. When ever I have rough day
at dance or am feeling frustrated with it I will always think back to what my mom had said to be and
channel her words of encouragement.
When I was 2 I started dancing and it was more of a let s put you in dance class because you will look

Impact Of The American Revolution On The United States Of...
The United States revolution is one of the most important revolutions to occur in history because it
can be seen as the most significant revolution to transpire in modern time. This can be shown through
the role that the revolution had in creating the country that we know today. Why was it that the
American Revolution occurs, was it for independence or was it based on something else? In the
American Revolution there were many leaders who aided in creating the United States, who were they
and what was the costs that came out of the revolution they helped start. What kinds of impact did the
American Revolution have on the rest of the world at the time? Throughout this paper it will examine
the impacts it had on the entire world, which had a role in starting the revolution and how did it help
build the country we know today as the United States of America.
In the year 1776 there were many things occurring in the Americas that created what we now know as
the United States of America. A few of those things include the emancipation that the United States
was trying to get from the British Empire. This separation can be seen as the society now known as
the United States trying to fit the model that had been starting to occur in many places. The model that
was used for the Americas to try and create their new country was that of Enlightenment.2

Occupy Wall Street Equality
Three years after the 2008 financial crisis, the U.S. economy remained a mess, leaving millions
unemployed. The housing market was struggling to recover three years after the financial crisis,
increasing foreclosures. Occupy Wall Street arose in response to the middle class people who are
getting battered by economic forces beyond their control, while elites in the private and public sector
prospered. In this paper, I will examine Occupy Wall Street s confrontation on the U.S. wealth
inequality and its protest in New York, participants and its attempt to encourage equality. Occupy Wall

no matter what the gender, ethnicity, age, politics, income, occupation and education degree they had.
The majority of the protesters are young people under 30 and many of them are unemployed or

stays wealthy. In response to the frustration, Occupy Wall Street was initiated on September 17, 2011

small group of protesters camping out in Manhattan s Zuccotti Park ignited a national and global
movement calling out the ruling class of elites by connecting the dots between corporate and political
power. The camps may be gone and Occupy may no longer be visible on the streets, but the gulf
between the haves and the have nots is still there, and growing. Income inequality is a problem that all
2016 presidential candidates must deal with because they can no longer afford not

Taking a Look at Bull Dogs
Soft, sweet, plump, wrinkly, and chubby are some words that come to mind when describing the
bulldog. Dying, overweight, and unhealthy are other, not so common words that can be used. Connie
Chambers, 40 year old bulldog breeder states, The physique of bulldogs today is perfect. Their cute,
fat faces and bodies (Denizet Lewis). Unfortunately, the fat faces and the shape of the body lead to
chronic health issues with the dog and all of the puppies then bred from that dog. When a breeder
wants a fat faced dog they don t wonder or even care about the health of the dog. So the question
should be What about the bulldog, what about it s health? Breeders should have some limitations
when breeding so that the dog is desired and also healthy. One of the health issues with the bulldog is
the wrinkled skin. The AKC s (American Kennel Club) breed standards for the Wrinkles and skin are
that The head and face should be coated with heavy wrinkles, and at the throat, from jaw to chest,
there should be two loose pendulous folds forming the dewlap (Breed Standard). Sometimes those
heavy wrinkles cause a big health issue with the dog. Some issues can be yeast infections, bacterial
infections, acne, and eczema. Breeders argue that not cleaning and taking care of the dog causes the
yeast infections. While cleaning the dog could help the situation, not cleaning the dog isn t the whole
issue. Susan Paretts says The skin within the wrinkles doesn t get as much exposure to air, as a

My Brother Sam Is Dead Quotes
In the novel, My Brother Sam is Dead, Father says, Is it worth war to save a few pence in taxes?
(Collier and Collier 21). This quote summarizes the main idea of that war does nothing. My Brother
Sam is Dead is written by James and Christopher Collier. The authors introduce many strong
characters that include Sam, Tim, Life, and Susannah Meeker and takes place during the American
Revolutionary War. The authors, Collier and Collier, try to prove that war does not help by adding the
theme inside of a realistic plot that involves family and death, something everyone has or has gone
through in their life. By adding family and death, it makes readers connect the story to our life and
makes the reader question if war is actually worth it if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Mr. Meeker and Sam have an argument which leads to Mr.Meeker kicking Sam out. Go
Sam. Go. Get out of my sight. I can t bear to look at you anymore in that vile costume. Get out. And
don t come back until you come dressed as my son, not a stranger. (Collier and Collier 22). This quote
is an example of the author s message by showing readers that differing opinions over war or the side
a family member takes can cause a disturbance in a family. War also tore the Meeker s apart by having
death occur within their family. War can obviously get someone killed and they cannot be brought
back to life. Death can easily hurt a family and affect the remaining family members. For instance,
after Mr.Meeker s death, Susannah, Tim and Sam s mother, becomes an alcoholic and Tim becomes
more mature and responsible. This changed the Meeker s way of how they act and the way they
process information. It makes them take sides and blame others for actions they cannot control. Bah
patriotism. Your patriotism has got my husband in prison and one of my children out there in the rain
and the muck shooting people and likely to be dead any minute, and my business is half ruined. Go
sell your patriotism elsewhere, I ve had enough of it. (Collier and Collier 149) This quote is a perfect
example of war ripping families

King Jr
In an article called The Profit of One Man is the Loss of Another , Michel de Montaigne made the
following statement, This is a judgement that appears to the ill grounded , forasmuch as no profit
whatever can be possibly be made but at the expense of another, and that by the same rule he should
condemn all gain of any kind whatsoever. He believed people only prosper off of someone else s
misfortune (Montaigne, 235).However, there are individuals who do perform good actions willingly.
They help those who are experiencing hardship while expecting nothing in return. Examples of such
people are Martin Luther King Jr. and members of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Martin Luther

King s successful civil rights activism, it is said that the collective strength of individuals, organized in
religious, civic, fraternal, and civil rights groups allowed southern blacks to begin overcoming fears
reinforced by centuries of racism and repression (Lawson, 246). The overcoming of these fears
consisted of sit ins, protests, boycotts, and marches. Also, Dr King was a big supporter of non
violence. He rallied black southerners to confront racism through non violence, when their instincts
might pull them in the other direction (Lawson, 249). His open mindedness made him a successful
leader in terms of the African American struggle for civil rights. This is what allowed him to connect
with not only African American people, but people of other races as well. Martin Luther King is a
great example of someone who did not look for profit for himself. Dr. King s biggest goal was to
achieve equality for his fellow African American people. It was said that Martin Luther King Jr. didn t
just fight for civil rights but he fought for human rights as well. Montaigne makes a statement saying

He is a strong, ruthless and at the beginning of the film he is seen as young, handsome, short, and thin
with bronze toned skin and black eyes. He dressed in a conservative manner with the traditional outfits
of a king. His hair was short and black, swept neatly to one side of his face. He has strong facial
features. However, later in the film, he is seen as fat; with hair loss and less predominate facial

Legalizing The Death With Dignity Act
The story of Brittany Maynard continues to sweep the nation and has sparked a highly controversial
debate concerning the legality and ethicality of assisting in one s death. When twenty nine year old
Maynard was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and given less than six months to live, she made the
difficult decision to pick up and move to Portland, Oregon. Oregon exists as one of only four states
that have legalized assisted suicide (Egan 60 64). In Oregon, she legally ended her battle with cancer
in a dignified manner (Egan 60 64). The American Heritage Dictionary defines euthanasia as, the
action of inducing the painless death of a person for reasons assumed to be merciful (Morris 453).
There are more people than just Maynard who are strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the first year the death with dignity act went into effect in Oregon, just fifteen people ended
their life through the process of euthanasia. In 1997, a group of people rallied to undermine the death
with dignity act with a statute called measure fifty one but the citizens of Oregon rejected the measure
proving that the men and women of Oregon demand this right and want the death with dignity act to
stay in place ( Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia Timeline ). Sixty one physicians wrote prescriptions
for lethal doses of medication in Oregon in the year 2012 for the purpose of euthanasia, displaying the
willingness of experienced medical professionals to assist patients in dying with dignity ( Prescription
for Suicide 1). Washington became the second state to legalize assisted suicide in November of 2008,
and Montana followed suit on January second, 2010. Finally, Vermont legalized assisted suicide in
May of 2013, becoming the fourth and final state to emulate support for death with dignity. The
precise reason that more states do not make dying with dignity a legal option is complicated, but one
factor that does contribute to the rejection of assisted suicide legislation is the concerns about the
safety and ethicality of euthanasia ( Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia Timeline ). The reality of these
concerns is that the regulations regarding assisted suicide are proving to work impeccably as noted by

Introduction Of Wireless Sensor Networks
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Wireless Sensor Networks refers to incredibly distributed networks of small and lightweight wireless
nodes with very confined capabilities, deployed in large numbers in an open environment to monitor
the environmental conditions by measuring physical parameters such as temperature, pressure,
humidity etc. Each and every node (sensor) has a microprocessor and a small amount of memory for
sensing, signal processing and for communication purposes. Each sensor node communicates
wirelessly with different regional nodes within its radio conversation range. Deployment of WSN s
evade installation costs however at the same time power efficiency as a main challenge. A scheme of a
wireless sensor node connected to the internet is shown in Fig. 1: wireless sensor networks ordinarily
contains sensing unit, processing unit, transmission unit and power unit.
Sensing unit: Sensing unit is made up of a sensor and analog to digital converters (ADCs) which
converts analog signal produced by sensor to digital signal. Sensor converts physical phenomenon to
electrical signal.
Processing unit: The processing unit constitutes of a microprocessor or microcontroller which control
sensors, execution of communication protocols and signal processing algorithms on the collected
sensor data.
Transmission unit: Transmission unit collects the information from the CPU and then transmit it to the
end user in the outside world.
Power unit: In wireless sensor community, the major

The Influence Of Structure And Culture On The Irish Civil...
For the purpose of this essay the author shall discuss what considerations of structure and culture
shaped the Irish civil service. The Collins English Dictionary (2013, p) defines structure as the way in
which parts are put together to make a whole. Culture on the other hand is defined as the set of
predominating attitudes and behaviours that characterise a group or organisation (The Collins English
Dictionary, 2013 p). Bearing these definitions in mind the author will look at the Irish civil service
within the wider public service and examine the Irish civil service is in relation to its culture and
structure. Firstly the Irish civil service will be defined and its role and key functions discussed.
The constitution does not mention the civil service but it is vital to the running of ... Show more

People need to know their role and If structures are not in place, then the outcome will not be positive.
According to Litton (2014) the Wright report, (2010) found serious issues with the department s
structure and methods. Litton (2014) explains that while there was no explanation for the problems
there were suggestions that issues lay with the department s abilities and with its culture. According to
Litton (2014) the Wright report s (2010) found that the culture was that civil servants did not think that
it was their duty to give their political leaders tough autonomous advice. The Panel noted that the
Department didn t ensure internal debate to support views presented to the minister. The Wright report
(2010) also identified structural failings however, such reports as the Public Sector Organization
Review Group (The Devlin Report) (1969); Strategic Management Initiative (1994); and the OECD
report (2008) all enlighten us how little has been achieved by the civil service, and point out how
much needs to be done (Litton,

Analysis Of Blade Runner And Frankenstein
The question of what makes something truly alive and human has been hotly disputed for an
incredibly long time. Different viewpoints have different criteria, but all roads eventually lead to the
same conclusion. Humanism is, at it s most basic form, the ability to objectively think and make
decisions based upon one s past experiences and moral compass. Blade Runner and Frankenstein both
confront the issue of non humans displaying human characteristics. Replicants and the Monster both
are on the very outskirts of humanity, but they are capable of rational thought and compassion, along
with the pursuit of happiness. This has created a sort of creepy feeling, with our modern perspective of
humanism encroaching on the progressive views of the two stories in question. Blade Runner and
Frankenstein have a warped concept of human life in the way of the place of science in the creation of
life, the prejudice of xenophobia, and an uncomfortableness with one s values of true humanism.
Shelley s Frankenstein demonstrates the uneasiness that comes with creating life through unnatural
means. Blade Runner also confronts the inner conflict of Deckard as he wrestles with his feelings for
Rachael and his mission to terminate the other replicants. Tying the two together, both artificial
humans in the stories are very similar. The beings are amalgamations of parts, human flesh in
Frankenstein and mechanical parts in Blade Runner. The semi humans are both interested in blending
in, along

Is Okonkwo Guilty
My initial reaction to the charges brought against Okonkwo were very surprised considering Okonkwo
was a respected member of the ribe and you would not expect to to commit such heinous crimes as
this. I feel that Okonkwo is guilty of all three charges; The murder of his foster son Ikemefuna, The
abuse and attempted murder of Ekwefi, and the unprovoked attack of the court messenger.
Okonkwo is guilty of murdering his foster son because the Oracle never said that he specifically had
to kill Ikemefuna. Okonkwo took it upon himself to kill Ikemefuna, without any direction from the
Oracle. Okonkwo was not even there when the Oracle told the order of Ikemefuna s death, he found
out from Ogbuefi. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him. The Oracle of the Hills and the Caves has
pronounced it. They will take him outside Umuofia as is the custom, and kill him there (Achebe 57).
This evidence shows that the men who were present were supposed to be the ones to kill Ikemefuna,
Okonkwo did not need to have any part in it.
I think Okonkwo is guilty of attempted murder of Ekwefi because he has been previously been known

Ethical Dilemmas In Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth installment in the Harry Potter series. In this
book J.K. Rowling presents two vastly different characters who have ethical viewpoints that are on
either side of the consequentialist spectrum.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix details the events that occur during Harry s fifth year at
Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year was bound to be the most difficult yet because
not only does Harry have to worry about Lord Voldemort returning but he also has trouble convincing
other of the impending doom that accompanies Voldemort s arrival. Harry, two friends Ron and
Hermione, along with the Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore have spent the better
part of Harry s first four years at Hogwarts not only trying to subdue Voldemort, but also trying to
convince others of what they might soon have to face. Despite the obvious signs of Voldemort s
return, him trying to steal the sorcerer s/philosopher s stone, the opening of the chamber of secrets,
and most recently the death of fellow schoolmate Cedric Diggory the Ministry of Magic, basically the
government of the wizarding world, dismissed them all and gave ridiculous excuses. This is because
Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, is convinced that Harry and Dumbledore are lying because he
believes that Dumbledore is after his job. Because of Fudge s suspicion the Ministry decides to
appoint one of their own as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts

  • 2. Otto Von Bismarck-German Unification-Nationalism Otto von Bismarck German Unification Nationalism and liberalism were two popular political philosophies of the late 19th century. Nationalism is the aspiration of a people with a common language, culture and traditions to be unified. Nationalism grew into a movement after 1815, influenced by literature, music, politics and economic developments between the northern Germany states. By 1848, nationalism was strong among Germans, but the course to unify German would prove to take time. Between 1815, the end of the Napoleonic Wars, and 1850 the German states experienced a growth of nationalism and the desire for unity. The obstacles to German unification were religious divisions, rulers fear of losing power, and the opposition from Austria. The tension and rivalry that existed between the two largest German states intensified and the existing religious divisions and made the possibility of unification more difficult. While the religious division of the Prussia Protestant and that of the dominating Austria Catholics was an important factor, the opposition from Austria and the rulers were more important. Nationalism became this progressively intensifying cycle that eventually climaxes into war. Many began to put aside the idealistic ideas of society and began to embrace the realities of society as competitive and combative. Under the calculated guidance of Otto von Bismarck, Germany would finally be on the promising path of unification. Plans for unification started long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If any one wants to appeal then it becomes a burdensome process for him often resulting in denial of justice. 4. Lack of Deterrence The purpose of any punishment should be deterrence from repeating the same act. But, according to the statistics available, the death penalty has not been effective in controlling the homicide rate. The studies have revealed the shocking truth that executions actually increase the murder rate. That means the capital punishment does not deter violent crime. According to a New York Times study, the last 20 years witnessed 48% homicide rate in states with the implementation of capital punishment compared to 23% in the states without capital punishment. 5. The prolonged uncertainty The validity to the deterrence argument is annulled by the delays, endless appeals, retrials, and technicalities that keep persons predestined to capital punishment waiting for execution for years. In fact, we are not competent enough to carry out execution. This uncertainty and incompetence offers another great injustice. It is itself cruel and a form of torture. 6. • 7. Importance Of Patient Centered Care In Pharmacy Patient centered care is something I think should ve been a part of the pharmacy field since pharmacy has started though, it was to a different extent. Patient centered care for me is to mold/modify a treatment plan according to the patient s needs and to consider them in the treatment plan when making one up. Most doctors are likely to just tell the patient what their condition is and what they should take and just tell them what they need to know instead of asking them questions like what are some complications they have been facing while they are following the treatment plan and addressing them. I think it s important to have patient centered care because then the patient is more likely to trust their doctor and are willing to follow their plan even if it is uncomfortable to them. During my IPPE, my preceptor asked me a question, why would a patient follow through their medication regimen? I told him, that it s because they believe that the medication will work for them. After that, he told me trust in their pharmacist is the key. Then, I understood it, that no matter what the scenario is if the patient is willing to trust their healthcare professional, then they would be willing to follow their care plan and understand their intentions for them, instead of them just listening through one ear and out the other. From all of this, the patient gets the most benefit and it all comes down to patient centered care overall. Some of the examples that contradict ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dale s first break in to racing was in 1975 when he drove in his first Winston cup race, coming in at 22nd. For Dale, unlike many other drivers, driving was not a hobby, it was almost his only means of support. If he was short of money, he borrowed from other drivers, hoping that he would win the next Sunday s race so he could pay them back on Monday. Dale was a fearless driver, but he was also astonishingly precise. Dale s first major break was in 1978, when he replaced another driver in the world cup 600, in Charlotte N.C. where he placed 7th one race, that is when he caught the eye of a Winston cup car owner. That owners name was Rod Osterlund and wasn t happy with his current driver. Rod replaced his current driver with Dale for the next to last race of that season, and Dale drove with his characteristic fearlessness, refusing to be intimidated by the experienced drivers he was competing against. This won him a full time position driving for Osterlund, and in only his 16th start, he had his first win. By 1979, Earnhardt was named ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Future of Solar Technology The future of solar technology clearly lies away from the expensive rigid structure of extensive silicon crystalline structures, and towards the non silicon based technologies. Governments and private firms must continue to invest the capital needed to fund research and development in these fields of more flexible and versatile solar cells in order to acheieve higher efficiencies and improve the manufacturing process of these technologies; as currently they remain in their infancy. 3.4 Non Silicon Based Polycrystalline cells Research into non silicon based solar cells is an exciting stage, with labs all over the world making advances in this field. It has been hypothesized and proven that other semi conductor materials can be doped to provide the conductive layer necessary for a solar cell to work. Copper oxide was used, but it was found to not retain the doping agents well; to overcome this a new type of cell called screening engineered field effect photovoltaics (SPFV s) were produced. These require a small electric field to be present in order to keep the p n junction functioning, this electric field is far less than the electricity that can be generated from the cell, and the reduced cost of not having to use silicon makes this a more than viable resource. (Anthony, 2012) Copper Indium Gallium Selenide cells (CIGS) are another branch of thin film photovoltaics being researched, with laboratory prototypes achieving efficiencies of approximately 18%. Authors during his time were more sophisticated and their plays never seemed to translate to a larger audience. Plays were perceived as something only the wealthy and elite got to participate in. But Shakespeare changed all that when began to include the public. He turned theater into something relatable with an emphasis on sex, love, violence and a sort of crude humor. He made his characters real. They were ravished with flaws and became naturally empathic as the play went on. To achieve this a certain basic human psychology has to be applied. • 16. Five Theories Of Natural Selection Natural Selection, a key mechanism of evolution is the progressive process by which biological traits either become more or less common in a community or population as a result of inherited traits on different reproductive success of organisms with their environment. Charles Darwin in fact put together an articulate theory of evolution and supported it with a good amount of body evidence in 1859 when he published his book. Natural selection is too however a basic mechanism of evolution like mutation, migration and genetic drift. In order for natural selection to work, Darwin came up with 5 different theories that brought about evolution. The five theories are: evolution, common descent, species multiply, gradualism, and natural selection itself. Evolution is when species come and go through time, while they exist they change. Common descent is organisms are descended from one, or several common ancestors and have diversified from this original stock. Species multiply is the diversification of life involving populations of one species diverging until they become two separate species; this has probably occurred billions of times on earth. Gradualism is evolutionary change occurring through incremental small changes within populations; new species are not created suddenly. Animals and plants of all sorts undergo changes through natural selection. The peacock is a unique animal that stood out to me that undergoes natural selection. The rising popularity of cell phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the development of today s society. Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. • 22. The Importance Of Thinking Skills In Education Education can be seen as the main way of developing individuals and society. The creation and use of knowledge depends on ability to think. Good thinking could be viewed as empowering for individuals and society. Perhaps most importantly in today s information age, thinking skills are viewed as crucial for educated persons to cope with a rapidly changing world. Many educators believe that specific knowledge will not be as important to tomorrow s workers and citizens as the ability to learn and make sense of new information (Gough, D., 1991). School administrators have to recognize that teaching core subjects alone is not sufficient to equip students for the knowledge economy. To be prepared for the demands of the knowledge economy, students need to know how to use their knowledge and skills, applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, and making decisions. One important skill students need to have is thinking skills (Salpeter, J., 2003). Human resource management is one of the support activities which though not directly involved in production will increase effectiveness and efficiency in the creation of goods and services. Indeed, human resources are the major source of competitive advantage for any business firm. Great attention thus needs to be paid to human resource and its management as this will impact on performance of any organization. 2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES Thinking skills ... As did most previous presidents do, Nixon had put himself right into action making sure he could build up and maintain and good reputation in office. But soon after completing his first term, disaster struck just as reelection was coming up. Nixon had destroyed his reputation, and by doing so showed the people how easy it was to be successful at a point and then lose it all due to one event, Watergate. Paul H. Berkowitz s early books about what occurred in the seventies, both cultural and political, he discusses the topic of the Watergate scandal, viewing it more as a criminal act and misuse in power that develops from a spoiled and corrupted mind. I truly believe that Nixon s purpose for the misuse in power came from his corrupted mind that desired more power and recognition from the American people. We do not see Edward jump right into the Watergate scandal, but work his way up to it following events that may or may not have changed Nixon s desire for power. When Edward begins to discuss the scandal, he opens with in his zeal to win, which comes to mind as Nixon stopping at nothing to pursue victory, even at great risks. • 25. Merchant Shipping Activities Remain The Pillar Of Global... 1. Introduction According to the OECD (2012) merchant shipping activities remain the pillar of global trade, with more than 80% of international cargo transported via sea. Throughout history, maritime activities have played a vital role in shaping the world, from fishing, to the transport of people during the age of discovery, as well as global trade. With world trade growth being the core driving force behind maritime trade, other factors include; institutional and technological factors, freedom of trade, as well as China s participation in the global economy (World Ocean Review n.d.). As shipping is a derived demand, developments in maritime transport are thus shaped by global macroeconomic trends. The biggest problem in shipping is the ability to forecast long term freight rates, and current tools such as generalized autoagressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) are often aimed at short term correlation. GARCH is an approach which helps describe market volatility (Investopedia n.d.). Freight rates essentially drive the shipping industry in terms of fleet size, and are often a good indication of the strength or weakness of the shipping market. The volatile state of the current market means the accurate need for forecasting and keeping up to date with trends is imperative. This report aims to provide an overview of current trends in merchant shipping. 2. Ownership 2.1 Flags of convenience and the largest ship owning countries Panama with a population of just ... • 28. Break Break Break Analysis The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming quatrain stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man who has recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are death, sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his tongue will not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrase displays the emotional distress being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for what he is unable to say. He does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but rather blames the inability on his tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this emotional distress the author is experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand/And the sound of a voice that is still (11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards the conclusion that the author has lost someone with whom he was close. The author continues to use the physical world to describe the one he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death within the poem. The combination of his inability to say what thoughts he has and his use of physical world descriptions for this missing person may indicate that he is still in the early stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author includes implications of jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a fisherman s boy playing joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully in his boat on the bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this phrase before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again experience the joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of but the tender grace of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors thoughts of jealousy and death lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the day that he was able to enjoy the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of this is on page 18 of The Oedipus Cycle when he says, What a wicked old man you are! You d try a stone s patience! Out with it! Oedipus says this after Teiresias refuses to tell him what he knows about the murderer of the previous king of Thebes. Instead of trying to persuade him further or just accept that Teiresias won t tell Oedipus what he wants to know, his impatience causes him to act rashly and start insulting the seer. Another example of Oedipus s tendency to act quickly appears on page 28 when Oedipus says to Creon, You murderer! Do you think I do not know that you plotted to kill me, plotted to steal my throne? Prior to their conversation, Oedipus asks his brother in law, Creon, to bring Teiresias to him so they may ask him what he knows. After Teiresias refuses to share what he knows with Oedipus, he eventually tells him that Oedipus is the murderer that he is seeking. Just from this, Oedipus quickly comes to the conclusion that Creon urged Teiresias to say this in order to usurp the throne. Another example of Oedipus s rashness appears on page 43 of The Oedipus Cycle, The groom leading the horses forced me off the road at his lord s command; but as this charioteer lurched over towards me I struck him in my rage . . . Their cute, fat faces and bodies (Denizet Lewis). Unfortunately, the fat faces and the shape of the body lead to chronic health issues with the dog and all of the puppies then bred from that dog. When a breeder wants a fat faced dog they don t wonder or even care about the health of the dog. So the question should be What about the bulldog, what about it s health? Breeders should have some limitations when breeding so that the dog is desired and also healthy. One of the health issues with the bulldog is the wrinkled skin. The AKC s (American Kennel Club) breed standards for the Wrinkles and skin are that The head and face should be coated with heavy wrinkles, and at the throat, from jaw to chest, there should be two loose pendulous folds forming the dewlap (Breed Standard). Sometimes those heavy wrinkles cause a big health issue with the dog. Some issues can be yeast infections, bacterial infections, acne, and eczema. Breeders argue that not cleaning and taking care of the dog causes the yeast infections. While cleaning the dog could help the situation, not cleaning the dog isn t the whole issue. Susan Paretts says The skin within the wrinkles doesn t get as much exposure to air, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. My Brother Sam Is Dead Quotes In the novel, My Brother Sam is Dead, Father says, Is it worth war to save a few pence in taxes? (Collier and Collier 21). This quote summarizes the main idea of that war does nothing. My Brother Sam is Dead is written by James and Christopher Collier. The authors introduce many strong characters that include Sam, Tim, Life, and Susannah Meeker and takes place during the American Revolutionary War. The authors, Collier and Collier, try to prove that war does not help by adding the theme inside of a realistic plot that involves family and death, something everyone has or has gone through in their life. By adding family and death, it makes readers connect the story to our life and makes the reader question if war is actually worth it if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Mr. Meeker and Sam have an argument which leads to Mr.Meeker kicking Sam out. Go Sam. Go. Get out of my sight. I can t bear to look at you anymore in that vile costume. Get out. And don t come back until you come dressed as my son, not a stranger. (Collier and Collier 22). This quote is an example of the author s message by showing readers that differing opinions over war or the side a family member takes can cause a disturbance in a family. War also tore the Meeker s apart by having death occur within their family. War can obviously get someone killed and they cannot be brought back to life. Death can easily hurt a family and affect the remaining family members. For instance, after Mr.Meeker s death, Susannah, Tim and Sam s mother, becomes an alcoholic and Tim becomes more mature and responsible. This changed the Meeker s way of how they act and the way they process information. It makes them take sides and blame others for actions they cannot control. Bah patriotism. Your patriotism has got my husband in prison and one of my children out there in the rain and the muck shooting people and likely to be dead any minute, and my business is half ruined. Go sell your patriotism elsewhere, I ve had enough of it. (Collier and Collier 149) This quote is a perfect example of war ripping families ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

King Jr In an article called The Profit of One Man is the Loss of Another , Michel de Montaigne made the following statement, This is a judgement that appears to the ill grounded , forasmuch as no profit whatever can be possibly be made but at the expense of another, and that by the same rule he should condemn all gain of any kind whatsoever. He believed people only prosper off of someone else s misfortune (Montaigne, 235).However, there are individuals who do perform good actions willingly. The overcoming of these fears consisted of sit ins, protests, boycotts, and marches. Also, Dr King was a big supporter of non violence. He rallied black southerners to confront racism through non violence, when their instincts might pull them in the other direction (Lawson, 249). His open mindedness made him a successful leader in terms of the African American struggle for civil rights. This is what allowed him to connect with not only African American people, but people of other races as well. Martin Luther King is a great example of someone who did not look for profit for himself. Dr. King s biggest goal was to achieve equality for his fellow African American people. • 45. Legalizing The Death With Dignity Act The story of Brittany Maynard continues to sweep the nation and has sparked a highly controversial debate concerning the legality and ethicality of assisting in one s death. When twenty nine year old Maynard was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and given less than six months to live, she made the difficult decision to pick up and move to Portland, Oregon. Oregon exists as one of only four states that have legalized assisted suicide (Egan 60 64). In Oregon, she legally ended her battle with cancer in a dignified manner (Egan 60 64). The American Heritage Dictionary defines euthanasia as, the action of inducing the painless death of a person for reasons assumed to be merciful (Morris 453). During the first year the death with dignity act went into effect in Oregon, just fifteen people ended their life through the process of euthanasia. In 1997, a group of people rallied to undermine the death with dignity act with a statute called measure fifty one but the citizens of Oregon rejected the measure proving that the men and women of Oregon demand this right and want the death with dignity act to stay in place ( Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia Timeline ). Sixty one physicians wrote prescriptions for lethal doses of medication in Oregon in the year 2012 for the purpose of euthanasia, displaying the willingness of experienced medical professionals to assist patients in dying with dignity ( Prescription for Suicide 1). Washington became the second state to legalize assisted suicide in November of 2008, and Montana followed suit on January second, 2010. Finally, Vermont legalized assisted suicide in May of 2013, becoming the fourth and final state to emulate support for death with dignity. The precise reason that more states do not make dying with dignity a legal option is complicated, but one factor that does contribute to the rejection of assisted suicide legislation is the concerns about the safety and ethicality of euthanasia ( Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia Timeline ). The reality of these concerns is that the regulations regarding assisted suicide are proving to work impeccably as noted by the Canada Compassion and Choices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Introduction Of Wireless Sensor Networks CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Wireless Sensor Networks refers to incredibly distributed networks of small and lightweight wireless nodes with very confined capabilities, deployed in large numbers in an open environment to monitor the environmental conditions by measuring physical parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity etc. Each and every node (sensor) has a microprocessor and a small amount of memory for sensing, signal processing and for communication purposes. Each sensor node communicates wirelessly with different regional nodes within its radio conversation range. Deployment of WSN s evade installation costs however at the same time power efficiency as a main challenge. A scheme of a wireless sensor node connected to the internet is shown in Fig. 1: wireless sensor networks ordinarily contains sensing unit, processing unit, transmission unit and power unit. Sensing unit: Sensing unit is made up of a sensor and analog to digital converters (ADCs) which converts analog signal produced by sensor to digital signal. Sensor converts physical phenomenon to electrical signal. Processing unit: The processing unit constitutes of a microprocessor or microcontroller which control sensors, execution of communication protocols and signal processing algorithms on the collected sensor data. Transmission unit: Transmission unit collects the information from the CPU and then transmit it to the end user in the outside world. Power unit: In wireless sensor community, the major ... For the purpose of this essay the author shall discuss what considerations of structure and culture shaped the Irish civil service. The Collins English Dictionary (2013, p) defines structure as the way in which parts are put together to make a whole. Culture on the other hand is defined as the set of predominating attitudes and behaviours that characterise a group or organisation (The Collins English Dictionary, 2013 p). Bearing these definitions in mind the author will look at the Irish civil service within the wider public service and examine the Irish civil service is in relation to its culture and structure. • 48. Analysis Of Blade Runner And Frankenstein The question of what makes something truly alive and human has been hotly disputed for an incredibly long time. Different viewpoints have different criteria, but all roads eventually lead to the same conclusion. Humanism is, at it s most basic form, the ability to objectively think and make decisions based upon one s past experiences and moral compass. Blade Runner and Frankenstein both confront the issue of non humans displaying human characteristics. Replicants and the Monster both are on the very outskirts of humanity, but they are capable of rational thought and compassion, along with the pursuit of happiness. This has created a sort of creepy feeling, with our modern perspective of humanism encroaching on the progressive views of the two stories in question. Blade Runner and Frankenstein have a warped concept of human life in the way of the place of science in the creation of life, the prejudice of xenophobia, and an uncomfortableness with one s values of true humanism. Shelley s Frankenstein demonstrates the uneasiness that comes with creating life through unnatural means. Blade Runner also confronts the inner conflict of Deckard as he wrestles with his feelings for Rachael and his mission to terminate the other replicants. Tying the two together, both artificial humans in the stories are very similar. The beings are amalgamations of parts, human flesh in Frankenstein and mechanical parts in Blade Runner. The semi humans are both interested in blending in, along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Is Okonkwo Guilty My initial reaction to the charges brought against Okonkwo were very surprised considering Okonkwo was a respected member of the ribe and you would not expect to to commit such heinous crimes as this. I feel that Okonkwo is guilty of all three charges; The murder of his foster son Ikemefuna, The abuse and attempted murder of Ekwefi, and the unprovoked attack of the court messenger. Okonkwo is guilty of murdering his foster son because the Oracle never said that he specifically had to kill Ikemefuna. Okonkwo took it upon himself to kill Ikemefuna, without any direction from the Oracle. Okonkwo was not even there when the Oracle told the order of Ikemefuna s death, he found out from Ogbuefi. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him. The Oracle of the Hills and the Caves has pronounced it. They will take him outside Umuofia as is the custom, and kill him there (Achebe 57). This evidence shows that the men who were present were supposed to be the ones to kill Ikemefuna, Okonkwo did not need to have any part in it. • 50. Ethical Dilemmas In Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth installment in the Harry Potter series. In this book J.K. Rowling presents two vastly different characters who have ethical viewpoints that are on either side of the consequentialist spectrum. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix details the events that occur during Harry s fifth year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year was bound to be the most difficult yet because not only does Harry have to worry about Lord Voldemort returning but he also has trouble convincing other of the impending doom that accompanies Voldemort s arrival. Harry, two friends Ron and Hermione, along with the Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore have spent the better part of Harry s first four years at Hogwarts not only trying to subdue Voldemort, but also trying to convince others of what they might soon have to face. Despite the obvious signs of Voldemort s return, him trying to steal the sorcerer s/philosopher s stone, the opening of the chamber of secrets, and most recently the death of fellow schoolmate Cedric Diggory the Ministry of Magic, basically the government of the wizarding world, dismissed them all and gave ridiculous excuses. This is because Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, is convinced that Harry and Dumbledore are lying because he believes that Dumbledore is after his job.
