The Motif of Ernest Hemingway´s A Farewell to Arms
The world contains many recurring events that remind humans of morals or things that are important.
In the novel A Farewell to Arms many events come again and again. Usually, these events that repeat
or come again have a deeper message inscribed in the text. This is not unlike whereas the novel The
Great Gatsby has weather that unfailingly matches up with the tone and mood of the text. The author
Ernest Hemingway has created A Farewell to Arms with a motif that is very precise. The motif of rain
and nature in Hemingway s novel divulges that there are things that a human beings cannot control;
making them recognize what they lack and how life can bring sadness.
The constant appearance of rain allows for sadness to be foreshadowed; ... Show more content on

The rain which is death the leaves which represent life, fell and rotted. Rain is a spontaneous thing and
is not scheduled, planned and is not in our power. Nature has a mind of its own and for humans or the
people in the war to have that power are supernatural which one cannot have that kind of power. Also,
humans are not capable of controlling life itself. If that were to happen in this world, there would be
chaos in power and no one would be able to die peacefully and obtain that beauty of dying a heroic
death. Life cannot be controlled and some people see death as a beauty for it takes humanity to God.
But in life, there are many things that have been with us but when we realize that it is gone, we are
burdened with our own sadness.
Ronald Oliver, a director said that Women don t know what they want. Men never know what they
have. The rain in the novel alters the characters mind to remind them of what they do not have. The
rain brings this quote into thought about what Henry sees and feels. You knew it rained down that
rained...my sweet love Catherine down might rain... (Hemingway, 197). When he says this, he s
looking at the rain and wishes that he could be in her arms and that he too could hold her one more
time in his arms. He sees the rain and sees his pains and wishes deeply that he

Textual Analysis Beowulf
Ms. Dawson, this poem is getting good a little too good. Lol. Well, Beowulf decided to return a favor
to King Hrothgar by coming to fight the big coward Grendel. Lines 94 96 supports my idea of
Beowulf wasn t afraid of nothing or nobody. He could have been in the king s position, but he chose
not too for the simplest facts that he wasn t next in line. Although he was the strongest, he wanted to
do what was ethical. Beowulf decided to take 14 of his best men because he knew they were his ride
or die. They weren t going to get scared and back down. His men weren t cowards. Line 111 and 120
supports my decision to where they stayed strapped and ready for who or whatever. In line 115 118, it
describes their sign from God whether or not they should go and fight this battle or to turn the boat
around and go home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes I m not afraid to ask God to send me a sign. I need that sign. Life gets hard, and I need
God to show me the way. Beowulf and his men received that sign when they traveled in a smooth ride.
Line 153 helps to build the structure of the epic poem and helps to create the scenery of when Beowulf
meets one of King Hrothgar guards. I started to see Beowulf being a cocky character. He s steady
trying to reel the guard in to let him through the gate. He gave the guard his father s name that carriers
a reputation to help lead him into the gate, but the guard got a little attitude towards the way Beowulf
was answering him. I personally don t blame him. Beowulf even insulated King Hrothgar s men. He
didn t want them to help because they must wasn t doing nothing for twelve long dreary years. Why
should he need their help? Foolish, I know. Beowulf wanted them to be about not to talk about. His
men could talk all the noise they wanted and still be about. In life, they tell you not to talk stuff you

The Czech Republic has its roots as a former communist state known as Czechoslovakia. The fall of
communism and the transformation to a democratic government has seasoned this country s history.
From the Velvet Revolution in 1989 to the charismatic leadership of the poet Vaclav Havel, the Czech

Rugged individualism is a characteristic of many Americans and politicians. The Czech Republic, on
the other hand, score much lower score on individualism, and tend to value the mentality that we are
in this together. This can be seen in their different types of advertising in their country. Their
advertising constantly appeals to family happiness, togetherness, and friendship focusing on groups of
people enjoying life together (Taylor, 2002).
Masculinity is a dimension that characterizes a culture s tendency toward valuing competition and
success defined by winning at whatever the challenge, or the culture s value of caring of others and
quality of life. A high masculinity score would be the former and a lower masculinity score would be
the latter. The Czech Republic and the U.S. have a very similar score here (Hofstede amp; Hofstede,
2005). They are both right in the middle of the scale and can be categorized as having a good balance
between competition and striving to be on top as the winner, and caring for others along the way.
Uncertainty avoidance is a dimension that captures a society s way that they deal with ambiguity. The
anxiety of an unknown future can lead to a societal out pour that creates beliefs or institutions to try to
avoid this anxiety (Hofstede amp; Hofstede, 2005). In the Czech Republic, the older generations tend
to want to avoid uncertainty and are reluctant to take risks. This can most likely

Ecocriticism In The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett
Introduction
All writers and their critics are stuck with language, and although we cast nature and culture as
opposites, in fact they constantly mingle, like water and soil in a flowing stream (Howarth 69).by
reading this quotation we indicate that nature and culture are essential in human life. In other words,
humanity and environment are one unit, each of them supplements the other. Ecocriticism could be
defined as a literary discipline which seeks to examine the intersections of culture, literature, and
ecology. It also seeks to infer the relationships among nature, the natural processes themselves, and
human conception of the natural world . This paper will regard Frances Hodgson Burnett s novel The
Secret Garden as an ecocritical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the principle of equality the state lines between human and animal are arbitrary and
irrelevant. Moreover, the principle of equality utters that everyone is entitled to equal moral
consideration, irrespective of family, race, nation or species (Garred 137). Therefore, ecocriticism
agreed with the liberationist on the subjectivity and the borders between human and non human
creatures. Hence, the assessment of the way that humans and non human cohabit in the intra textual
system is what the paper seeks to introduce.
The paper will present the role of animals within The Secret Garden. Animals characters are very
essential in the novel and this underscore the interaction between human and animal, which is a
domain in studying and reading any ecocritical text. The paper will discuss two points associated with

Examine the Key Ideas Associated with Law and Punishment
Examine the key ideas associated with law and punishment Law and Punishment go hand in hand.
There are Laws, which are the system of rules which a particular country or community recognises as
regulating the actions of followers, and there are punishments, for when a member of said
country/community breaks the rules. Punishment is defined as the infliction of a penalty or to cause
pain for an offence. Most of the time it is not a choice as to whether you are part of a law following
community because almost all countries in the world have some kind of law system and often the
minute you turn the age where you are legally responsible or step off the boat, plane or train you are
subjected to their laws. The Biblical views on punishment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
i.e. If I promise not to hurt you and you promise not to hurt me then neither of us gets hurt and we re
both happy. And this is what Hobbes believes to be the basis of our desire to keep the laws set out by
the state we should avoid chaos because it is not in our best interests therefore we should keep the
laws. Kant had a similar conclusion i.e. that we should keep the laws but for a different reason. Kant
said that we should act so that you treat humanity, both in your own person and in that of another,
always as an end i.e. we should keep the laws so that we do not treat others as means to an end. His
idea of kingdom of ends states act in accordance with the maxims of a member giving universal laws
for a merely possible kingdom of ends where the kingdom of ends is a perfect community where all
members respect each other as ends in themselves. This is what we should strive to achieve, and to be
successful at this we should keep the laws of the community. Therefore we should keep the laws and
to keep the laws means that we must punish those that break the law.. Evaluate the view that
objectivity and relativism pose problems for the concept of law and punishment. Objectivity states that
there are ethical principles that are always wrong or always right and they are normally established a
priori i.e. without experience. Therefore as there are

Animal Helpers In Snow White, Beauty And The Beast, And...
In many fairy tales, the protagonist is either an anthropomorphised figure or a human child with an
animal companion. Children stories that focus around a female protagonist normally involves an
animal helper or a magical helper due to the traditional beliefs of young girls being innocent and weak
compared to boys. Animal helpers are usually unnamed or anonymous and provide help for no reward.
Even though, stories that involve animal characters do not focus primarily on the animals, they still
serve a significant purpose. Through the depiction of the animal helpers in Disney films and several
fairy tales, such as Aschenputtel, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and The Frog Prince, they
highlight the importance of nature and reinforce patriarchy and gender binaries. It does this by
assigning animal helpers mainly to female protagonists and having them solve most of the
complicated problems to guarantee the female character s survival and success by the end of the story.
To begin, animal helpers can sometimes be neglected and underrated when ... Show more content on

All The President s Men By Carl Bernstein And Bob Woodward
In the movie All the President s Men, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, reporters from the
Washington Post, were persistent in uncovering the truth that would soon lead to the resignation of
President Richard Nixon. This wasn t an easy process, since there were a lot of fake leads to the truth,
a lot of nervous employees speak up and a lot of people involved. This was an important time in
history because President Nixon was being re elected as president for the 2nd time. News reporters

this case, the reporters in the movie, were gathering and assembling the information to be relayed

investigation work regarding the Kennedys at the White House Library. When Bernstein called the
library, the librarian admitted at first that he did, but then changed her story and insisted she had no
idea who Mr. Hunt was, later denying ever speaking with Mr. Bernstein. The two reporters had
numerous chances to give up. Many people didn t believe the story, it didn t make sense to them. This
included their boss but, despite that they never stopped. Using methods to obtain their information
such as personal contacts, the reporters were able to get further clues to investigate the story. An

Ban The Use Of Guns By Civilians
Pierce Hodges Mrs. Desanto Research paper Feb 9, 2015 A Call to Ban the use of Guns by Civilians
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired,
signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are
not clothed. (citation) Guns are a major source of crisis in our nation today, and as President
Eisenhower speaks to in this quote, firearms take something away from society. We are supposed to be
a peaceful and civilized nation, but because of guns, we are becoming a violent nation and a disaster.
Many think that those who are negatively affected by guns are only inner city teens and young adults.
This was proven to be untrue by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that same situation, with no gun around, there is a much less chance of someone being severely
injured or killed. Many people suggest securing schools more by doing things like locking all doors,
bullet proof vestibules, mandatory ID and background checks, and even microchips monitoring people
s whereabouts in the school. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the
schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should
be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. The military
and law enforcement should be the only ones legally allowed to carry guns. When our forefathers
drafted the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment protecting the individual right to possess
firearms, the society and the motive was different. it was a limited right and they left some authority
over it to the government. The government is able to limit this, so seeing how guns are negatively
affecting our society, they should use their power. There is no reason why so many people, living in
what is supposed to be a peaceful society, possess guns. About 16,272 murders were committed in the
United States during 2014. Of these, about 10,886, or 67%, were committed with firearms. A
nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 0.5% of

Julie Taymor’s Titus Andronicus Essay
Julie Taymor s Titus Andronicus
Shakespeare s first tragedy has been a topic of discussion since the day it was written. Titus
Andronicus was staged on 24 January 1594 by the Earl of Sussex s Men at the Rose Theatre (Welsh
1). Though this tidbit of information seems somewhat irrelevant to Titus, we must note that there are
certain standards and practices established by a play from its first performance. It is also important to
establish the general attributes that audiences attribute to Shakespearean performance.
One of the distinguishing factors in portraying Titus centers in its origin: Titus Andronicus [...] must
be considered as an experimental play (Bowers 118). Being Shakespeare s first attempt at tragedy, it ...

First of all, looking at the practical purpose of Shakespeare s work, we see that he was trying to
overcome the standard Kyd had set down with violence, found in works such as the Spanish Tragedy:
Titus Andronicus tried to surpass [Kyd] in the portrayal of blood and horrors (Bowers 109). Not only
did the violence serve as a practical means of marketing, but the emphasis and devotion to the
villainous character of Aaron extends the role of the villain (Bowers 274). For the first time we have
monologues of the villain developing if not at least trying to explain his motives. With this
development, Shakespeare further progressed his craft and simultaneously, gained stature for his
inclinations. The non practical explanation for Titus Andronicus violence is found within the
characters and the aspect of humanity their actions portray and mirror, if only in part, in all of us.
There is a foundational element in all of us that seeks revenge. For we need look only to [...] the
present decade [...] to see that Titus Andronicus is no period piece irrelevant to contemporary times
(Karten 1). Though the decade Karten speaks of is the 1990s. The present decade obviously rings true
with the events of September 11, and in my opinion, more so with the overall events of the American
involvement in the Middle East. We are not too far from revenge to not appreciate the message
Shakespeare presents in Titus Andronicus. T.S. Eliot may call

The Word Simplicity By Henry David Thoreau
Final Exam Essay The word Simplicity is what Henry David Thoreau strongly asserted in Walden. He
believed that the simplest of things would be more beneficial to people s lifestyles. However, I believe
that we should that we should have a combination of simple things and also some luxuries, in order to
be more successful in life. There are many ways in which a luxury and something of simplicity can be
very beneficial to us. With the two in our life, we will be on the correct path to success. Simple things
can better our life, but so can luxuries. That s why it is very beneficial for us to have the benefits that
both the simple things and luxuries give us. Thoreau once stated I did not use tea, nor coffee, nor
butter, nor milk, nor fresh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thoreau believes that we shouldn t work hard, but I on the other hand believe that we need to work
hard. In order to live a good life and be able to provide for our potential families , we must work hard
so we can better ourselves and become successful. Working hard will help us better our education to
receive more knowledge and further ourselves in a successful career to earn enough money to live a
good lifestyle. Another luxury that I have is living in a good household. With a roof over my head I
am better protected from the outside world and not left vulnerable to the horrible things that could
happen. However, we don t need an expensive luxurious house, but we do need to have the luxury of
having some kind of roof over our heads in order to be satisfied with our lives. A house like Thoreau s
which hardly cost more than the annual rent of such a ruin as his commonly amounts, is just as
beneficial. Thus proving that having the simple things in life can also benefit us just as luxuries can.
While many people enjoy getting luxurious clothing, it is sometimes good to have something simple
as Thoreau did. Simple clothing can essentially save you money and help you to get other things that
are more important. We don t need to have the luxury of fancy clothing, but people just want it to look
good. Buying fancy clothing doesn t benefit you in the long run because all

The Guillotine Research Paper
The guillotine was one of the most popular and widely used machines designed and used for
executions by beheading. As one of the main symbols of the French Revolution, the guillotine not
only represented, but also delivered death. Since the guillotine was in use for over 200 years, it saw
much destruction and took many lives. The guillotine has had other machines like it that were just as
deadly but with different names. The guillotine was fashioned from the idea of two other decapitation
machines (Andrews). One of them is the Halifax Gibbet. It is thought that the first time an execution
by beheading was done was in Halifax. Which is how the Halifax Gibbet received its name

Felix was an 18 year old boy, but not your typical 18 year old. He wasn t like the other boys his age.
They would be playing sports like rugby and basketball. They were tall, towered over others in lower
grades, broad and muscular. Felix was the total opposite of them. He was short, pale as an uncooked

Above the nose were two narrow, brown eyes with full eyebrows above them. In addition, Felix didn t

Felix couldn t care less about his appearance rather, he was just grateful that he was even alive.
However, despite his wimpy attributes, he was mentally strong. He had gone through many depressing
situations like his mother and father s divorce.
Felix had dreamed of getting into the program since he was a kid. He was always fond of

Essay on Evolution of the Geeks
Evolution of the Geeks
In the past 20th century, the word geek has evolved into many different meanings. The term branched
off to create a person with low social skills, often with high intelligence, a person highly interested in
computer technology, and a person with a devotion to something that places him or her outside of the
mainstream. Geek usually has negative connotations within popular culture, where being a geek tends
to be an insult. The term can also be a badge of honor among subcultures, such as the know it all of

by Kellie Shanygne Williams. In order to pursue her heart, Urkel invented a machine to transform his
physical geeky image to a hunky and charming man, which became his alter ego Stephan.
The need to become accepted into what is considered cool implies that being a geek is undesirable to
the opposite sex. There is shame placed on the geek about his outer appearance. Urkel created this
alter ego to match his crush s status as the popular and beautiful student. People would consider them
a good match since their outer appearances depict cool. If a geek were to go out with the hottest

confidence is higher and can allow him to walk with his head held up high.
Sex plays a major role when it comes to the gender of geeks. Males are usually favored to portray

Pros And Cons Of Using Unsecured Loans To Pay Off Debt
Using unsecured loans to pay off debt is probably not a good idea, but there are clear exceptions to
this so you really have to consider your situation thoroughly.
Generally speaking it s not a good plan because when you don t offer up any kind of collateral and
borrow money your interest rates will be considerably higher. That mixed in with the fact that your
credit may not be so great because of the debt problems you re having and then you have a very high
interest rate. It takes a lot longer to get out of debt if the interest keeps adding to it and making things
worse.
There are exceptions to this of course because a lot of debts have such high interest rates like credit

the United States in the Red River War. Tippeconnic is Comanche for Rock House. He was born in
Nome Alaska and for much of his early life he lived on numerous Indigenous reservations in
California, Arizona and New Mexico. He also had the good fortune to be able to travel quite often to
Denmark. Eric credits both his Danish and Comanche cultural heritage for sparking his interest in art

Basics And 10 Features Of Web 2. 0
List at least 10 features of Web 1.0, and then 10 features of Web 2.0. There appears to be no distinctive
line drawn between what is Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. It is almost easier to define features that can make
something qualify as Web 2.0 and then work backward from there as Web 2.0 can incorporate much of
what you might find in Web 1.0. If a site is not incorporating some of these features in some fashion, it
likely qualifies as Web 1.0. With that in mind, I ll start with Web. 2.0 features. Web 2.0: 1. Dynamic
web pages allowing users to interact with the page. 2. Server side interaction with the user via their
accessing the site. 3. Individual user logins allowing for personalization of sites. 4. Users can upload
content. 5. Providing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pages could contain text, images, and other audio or visual content added exclusively by the
administrator. 7. User engagement was determined primarily by clicks and visits. 8. Sites did not have
machine compatible content (Kujur Chherti, 2015). 9. Individual pages or whole sites primarily
focused on a single function such as e mail, discussion boards, or presenting company information. 10.
Performance and functionality capability restrictions due to levels of widely available technology,
such as dial up connection speeds. What technologies made Web 2.0 possible? There are many pieces
of technology that have contributed to the existence and functionality of Web 2.0. One set of such
technologies you often thought of as a leader is AJAX, Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, which
allows users to interact with sites and not have to completely reload the page when the information
state changes. It does this by combining features from Javascript and HTML on the user s browser
allowing them to interact via features like buttons, data entry fields, or drop downs and then updating
the page through an XMLHttpRequest to the page s server (w3Schools.com, n.d.a) (How AJAX
Works, w3schools, n.d.b) AJAX takes advantage of the concept of handling more of the functions of
web services through the server as opposed to just uploading content for a page. This allows for the
sense of real time interactions between multiple users as well as the user and company. Additionally,

In this essay I will utilise the case of M.E. to explore the possible theoretical achievements the

Focusing on each therapeutic approach in turn, an analysis of the issues of M.E. s case will be

places emphasis on human s capacity to rise above habit patterns and to select new goals and

behaviour and the direction of their lives. Alternate routes to previously held ways of living,
incorporating a self defeating life script can be replaced with a life script where the client plays and
active role; with the goals of autonomy, spontaneity and being fully present in one s life and decisions

T.A. is the Ego States . Comprising the Parent, Adult and Child ego states, they can assist in
explaining how humans are made up and how they relate to others. They incorporate the ways we
think, feel and behave. The Parent Ego state consists of behaviours, thoughts and feelings copied from
parents of parental figures. The Adult Ego state comprises behaviours, thoughts and feelings in direct
response to the present, whereas those of the Child Ego state are replayed from childhood. While all
individuals will alternate between these ego states, T.A. seeks to primarily assist the client to
consciously become aware of the ego state they are operating from at any given time. The behaviour

East Asia Literature The sky sways on its foundation of fear (Zhenkai, One Step 145). This is a line
from Zhao Zhenkai s poem, One Step . Zhao Zhenkai is a poet from Beijing, China who writes under
the pen name Bei Dao. His negative outlooks in his literature make his pieces significant and
interesting. He was born in 1949 during the communist revolution. He grew up under communism and
experienced the Cultural Revolution. Zhao became a prominent leader of the democracy movement,

The diction in this poem relates to how the author views his country as poisonous and negligent. He
says that things are filled with blind toadstools (Zhenkai, Language 147). Zhao views his government

author makes allusions to outside situations so that readers can better relate to China s condition. He
states that while trampling the flowers, the dandelion grows secretly (Zhenkai, Language 147). This is
saying that while the Chinese officials are trampling over the country, the democratic leaders are
flourishing. Their ideas would soon be heard and spread. The tone in Language is very similar to the
tone in One Step . The poem is simplistic and meaningful while having a harsh tone. It uses words

Dry Pasta
The purpose I present about this topic is to introduce and help everyone to gain further knowledge
about pasta. Although everyone know what is pasta, and eats pasta, but I am sure that anyone of us do
not know what the actual history of pasta is. Furthermore, I will also explain the benefits of pasta,
pasta shapes, recommendation of sauces for different types of pasta, and the basic way of cooking
pasta.
Pasta is an Italian food made from dough using flour, water and eggs. When talking about the origin of
pasta, a distinction needs to be made between fresh and dry pasta. Fresh pasta is dough made of flour
and water and is present in most cultures and on all continents. Dry pasta began in Italy and embarked
from there to conquer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pasta has evolved, over its history, into a great number of shapes and varieties. The names of some of
the shapes vary according to area, and sometimes the same name applies in different areas to different
shapes.
A few examples include: Spaghetti is long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin. Macaroni is a kind
of moderately extended, machine made dry pasta. Much shorter than spaghetti, and hollow, macaroni
does not contain eggs. Fusilli, a spiral shaped pasta, also called corkscrew pasta, is usually about four
centimeters long. Fusilli is almost identical to another shaped pasta called rotini. They both have a
spiral shape, but rotini is slightly larger, thicker and curlier. Lasanum is a form of pasta in sheets,
made with alternate layers of pasta, cheese, and meat sauce or tomato sauce.
When making delicious pasta dishes, be sure to choose a pasta shape and sauce that complement each
other.
For example, delicate pasta like angel hair or thin spaghetti should be served with light, thin sauces.
Thicker pasta shapes, like fettuccine, work well with heavier sauces. Pasta shapes with holes or ridges
like mostaccioli or radiatore are perfect for chunkier sauces.
Pasta, by itself, is a nutritious food, an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, an important
contributor of protein, B vitamins, and iron. It contains almost no fat, cholesterol, or sodium good

Emotional Health Guy Winch Analysis
Emotional Health When kids fall and they get a cut, they know that they need to cover the cut so that
it does not get infected. This is taught at such a young age, so that when it happens they are prepared.
But why don t we, as a nation, teach how to practice emotional health. In Guy Winch s video, Why we
all need to practice emotional first aid he talks on three main points that as a society we need to teach
how to care for. Winch gives many examples and real life situations to back up his claim. This video
appeals to the audience with winch stating three points: Stop emotional bleeding, Protect your self

of the steps to emotional health. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A habit in emotional health that is very common is rumination. Rumination is when something bad
happens to us and we continue to play it over and over in our heads trying to figure out a way we
could have change the situation. Winch says that this is very risking when we continue the negative
thoughts, You are actually putting yourself at significant risk for developing clinical depression,
alcoholism, eating disorders, and even cardiovascular disease. These are all huge risks people take
when they do not take care of their emotional health. I believe that this is Winches strongest statement,
because it shows that if we continue to only treat our physical needs and not our emotional ones, our
emotional needs will turn into physical issues. Winch takes a personal turn on this statement, his
brother was diagnosed with stage 3 non Hodgkin s lymphoma, and his cancer was aggressive. Winch
explains that he couldn t stop thinking about everything his brother was going through, but his brother
was extremely positive throughout it all. He explains what he did to continually break the negative
thinking, An so each time I had a worrying, upsetting, negative thought, I forced myself to concentrate
on something else until the urge passes. And within one week my whole outlook changed and became
more positive and more hopeful. This is the kind of information that needs to be taught at a younger

CBS is responsible for the nationwide panic created by a CBS broadcast in 1938 that was narrated by
Orson Welles reading his version of the novel War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. CBS is responsible
because it broadcasted the show and if the show hadn t been broadcasted, the panic would have never

may not have wanted CBS to change it as much as they did. If the changes had not been made, then

their fault that the broadcast was scary, realistic, and caused widespread panic. The revisions also
removed several clues that might have helped late listeners figure out that the invasion was fake ( The
Infamous War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast was a Magnificent Fluke 5). The way CBS changed the
story made it very realistic as the fact that the broadcast was fictitious was mentioned only four times
and was structured like a normal news broadcast. If a person tuned to CBS late and missed the first
announcements about the broadcast being fictional, then they would probably believe the broadcast
was announcing true news. Many people believe that the listeners are responsible for the panic, but
CBS made the broadcast very believable and did not remind the listeners enough that the broadcast
was fake news. In conclusion, CBS is responsible for the panic caused by the War of the Worlds

Lean must be brought into the discussion as a possible means of supplementing and strengthening lean
manufacturing in situations where its principles may fall short. In this Project we want to emphasize
on three methods
Lean Manufacturing
six sigma
Theory of Constraints.
In many organizations we find these being practiced with or without knowledge of the whole system
but the main intention is to deliver a product with quality and safety as their prime concerns. In this
project initially we shall discuss the three methods individually next we describe the similarities as
well as the ambiguities.

Netflix might make an immense loss in China because the rival television service providers, such as
Xunlei, Tencent, and Youku Tudou, have tough local competition (Osawa).

Most Chinese nationals have access to the free to air channels. According to the expert researchers, it
could take three to five years to convince the subscribers to pay for the television service. Besides, the
Chinese government maintains enough funds to produce and develop the China film content, such as
documentaries, action movies, and dramas (Leung).
The Netflix s competitors also offer advertising services. For example, the Alibaba Company bought
Youku Tudou. Alibaba is the largest website for online buying and selling of goods and services.
However, Netflix offers television entertainment services only. Alibaba conducts several types of
researches concerning consumer preference, which gives it a competitive advantage over Netflix.
Therefore, it is difficult for Netflix to compete with companies holding crucial information about the
products preferred in the market (Jaafar). Furthermore, China s television service providers ensure that
the theatrical series and movies are made available three to four weeks after release. Such promptness
attracts more subscribers. On the contrary, Hollywood s theatrical releases are made available only
after a few months. As a result, Chinese prefer

A Report On The Network
In this section, we will see the two networks constructed in Mininet and the flows running through the
network
Flows:
1. A total of 12 simulations were run through the network. Flows were generated between hosts using
the tool D ITG.
2. Traffic generation:
D ITG is used for generating traffic in the network. Random hosts and clients are selected for sending
traffic. To get sufficient delay in the network the link is used up to 100% in case of heavy traffic,
around 70% for medium traffic and 20% for low traffic. The receiver logs are registered for each flow.
Flows nature is UDP as UDP does not re attempt to send a dropped packet. The packet size is fixed to
1024 and number of packets send per second can be changed depending on the traffic requirement.
The following tables give the details of each flow which were simulated for network 1.
The network was created in Mininet. It consists of 12 hosts and 8 OpenV switches. It uses the external
controller which is selected in Mininet python code.
Network 2 is constructed in Mininet. It is a partial tree structure with 11 switches and 12 hosts.
External Floodlight controller is connected to the Mininet network using python code. The controller
is set in a different Virtual machine.
Each KQI will be analyzed for all three algorithms on both the network.
1. Average Delay:
The best performing algorithm for high traffic flows is a latency based algorithm. It gives a minimum
delay of 1.845 sec which is 28% lower than the delay observed

In America, people of a religious background tend to follow one of the five major religions:

Judaism is listed as one of most popular religions in America, why have I not had the fortuity to meet
a religious Jew? I ve met others whom are Christian, Catholic, Jehovah s Witness, and Muslim, so to
me Jews are a minority. I decided to engage in Sabbath so that I become more educated about Jewish

The lay people then passed out challah, which is the Jewish Sabbath and holiday bread, and a blessing

people thanked my friend and I for joining their service and most of all being respectful of their
beliefs and rituals. Additionally, they allowed us to ask questions. This is how I was able to discover
some issues are in regard to Judaism based off of their perspective. One of the lay people explained
that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people and their culture. With Hitler invading
Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one another and others it caused a split in the religion. As
reported by Maryles, a writer for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to
be lost from Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its biggest bane .
Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone else. Another conflict is
intermarrying which means when people of various races or religion become connected by marriage.
Spouses following different religious paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create
afflicting ideals within the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our
widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and skewering us...
the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of our Judaism . An additional issue
is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are
not teaching the Torah the same way it once was taught. Mentioned by Rabbi Zecharya Greenwald,
students are being told that if they do not carry themselves a certain way

What Does Genetic Inheritance May Influence One- Behaviour
Biological level of analysis Explain how genetic inheritance may influence one behaviour, with
reference to one relevant research study. Genetic inheritance is genes that are gain from parents or
ancestors, usually from generation to generation. Genes define characteristics in a person and are
passed down through generations; however, the environment can encourage these characteristics.
Genetic inheritance does play a role in one s behaviour also their environment. Researchers are not
quite sure on whether if genetic influence or the environment impacts one s behaviour the most.
Research done on families and how the family interacted with each other each day shows genetic
influence. The study to aid the relationship between genetic influence and conduct is the Minnesota
Twins study, which meant to watch the impact of environment and genetic influence upon a large
number of variables which included: brainpower remainder, identity and word related/professional
perks, by exploring the connection between these elements in twins raised separated utilizing MZTs as
a control. Regardless of these shortcomings the study does demonstrate a solid connection between
genetic influence and insight, proposing that genetic influence has a generous impact on conduct.

deterring fraudulent reporting (Langevoort, 2007); however, I do not think regulating legislation of

  • 2. The Motif of Ernest Hemingway´s A Farewell to Arms The world contains many recurring events that remind humans of morals or things that are important. In the novel A Farewell to Arms many events come again and again. Usually, these events that repeat or come again have a deeper message inscribed in the text. This is not unlike whereas the novel The Great Gatsby has weather that unfailingly matches up with the tone and mood of the text. The author Ernest Hemingway has created A Farewell to Arms with a motif that is very precise. The motif of rain and nature in Hemingway s novel divulges that there are things that a human beings cannot control; making them recognize what they lack and how life can bring sadness. The constant appearance of rain allows for sadness to be foreshadowed; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rain which is death the leaves which represent life, fell and rotted. Rain is a spontaneous thing and is not scheduled, planned and is not in our power. Nature has a mind of its own and for humans or the people in the war to have that power are supernatural which one cannot have that kind of power. Also, humans are not capable of controlling life itself. If that were to happen in this world, there would be chaos in power and no one would be able to die peacefully and obtain that beauty of dying a heroic death. Life cannot be controlled and some people see death as a beauty for it takes humanity to God. But in life, there are many things that have been with us but when we realize that it is gone, we are burdened with our own sadness. Ronald Oliver, a director said that Women don t know what they want. Men never know what they have. The rain in the novel alters the characters mind to remind them of what they do not have. The rain brings this quote into thought about what Henry sees and feels. You knew it rained down that rained...my sweet love Catherine down might rain... (Hemingway, 197). When he says this, he s looking at the rain and wishes that he could be in her arms and that he too could hold her one more time in his arms. • 3. Textual Analysis Beowulf Ms. Dawson, this poem is getting good a little too good. Lol. Well, Beowulf decided to return a favor to King Hrothgar by coming to fight the big coward Grendel. Lines 94 96 supports my idea of Beowulf wasn t afraid of nothing or nobody. He could have been in the king s position, but he chose not too for the simplest facts that he wasn t next in line. Although he was the strongest, he wanted to do what was ethical. Beowulf decided to take 14 of his best men because he knew they were his ride or die. They weren t going to get scared and back down. His men weren t cowards. Line 111 and 120 supports my decision to where they stayed strapped and ready for who or whatever. In line 115 118, it describes their sign from God whether or not they should go and fight this battle or to turn the boat around and go home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes I m not afraid to ask God to send me a sign. I need that sign. Life gets hard, and I need God to show me the way. Beowulf and his men received that sign when they traveled in a smooth ride. Line 153 helps to build the structure of the epic poem and helps to create the scenery of when Beowulf meets one of King Hrothgar guards. I started to see Beowulf being a cocky character. He s steady trying to reel the guard in to let him through the gate. He gave the guard his father s name that carriers a reputation to help lead him into the gate, but the guard got a little attitude towards the way Beowulf was answering him. I personally don t blame him. Beowulf even insulated King Hrothgar s men. He didn t want them to help because they must wasn t doing nothing for twelve long dreary years. Why should he need their help? Foolish, I know. Beowulf wanted them to be about not to talk about. His men could talk all the noise they wanted and still be about. In life, they tell you not to talk stuff you can t back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rugged individualism is a characteristic of many Americans and politicians. The Czech Republic, on the other hand, score much lower score on individualism, and tend to value the mentality that we are in this together. This can be seen in their different types of advertising in their country. Their advertising constantly appeals to family happiness, togetherness, and friendship focusing on groups of people enjoying life together (Taylor, 2002). Masculinity is a dimension that characterizes a culture s tendency toward valuing competition and success defined by winning at whatever the challenge, or the culture s value of caring of others and quality of life. A high masculinity score would be the former and a lower masculinity score would be the latter. The Czech Republic and the U.S. have a very similar score here (Hofstede amp; Hofstede, 2005). They are both right in the middle of the scale and can be categorized as having a good balance between competition and striving to be on top as the winner, and caring for others along the way. Uncertainty avoidance is a dimension that captures a society s way that they deal with ambiguity. The anxiety of an unknown future can lead to a societal out pour that creates beliefs or institutions to try to avoid this anxiety (Hofstede amp; Hofstede, 2005). • 6. Ecocriticism In The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett Introduction All writers and their critics are stuck with language, and although we cast nature and culture as opposites, in fact they constantly mingle, like water and soil in a flowing stream (Howarth 69).by reading this quotation we indicate that nature and culture are essential in human life. In other words, humanity and environment are one unit, each of them supplements the other. Ecocriticism could be defined as a literary discipline which seeks to examine the intersections of culture, literature, and ecology. There are Laws, which are the system of rules which a particular country or community recognises as regulating the actions of followers, and there are punishments, for when a member of said country/community breaks the rules. Punishment is defined as the infliction of a penalty or to cause pain for an offence. Most of the time it is not a choice as to whether you are part of a law following community because almost all countries in the world have some kind of law system and often the minute you turn the age where you are legally responsible or step off the boat, plane or train you are subjected to their laws. Kant had a similar conclusion i.e. that we should keep the laws but for a different reason. Therefore we should keep the laws and to keep the laws means that we must punish those that break the law.. Children stories that focus around a female protagonist normally involves an animal helper or a magical helper due to the traditional beliefs of young girls being innocent and weak compared to boys. Animal helpers are usually unnamed or anonymous and provide help for no reward. Even though, stories that involve animal characters do not focus primarily on the animals, they still serve a significant purpose. Through the depiction of the animal helpers in Disney films and several fairy tales, such as Aschenputtel, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and The Frog Prince, they highlight the importance of nature and reinforce patriarchy and gender binaries. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. Titus Andronicus was staged on 24 January 1594 by the Earl of Sussex s Men at the Rose Theatre (Welsh 1). Though this tidbit of information seems somewhat irrelevant to Titus, we must note that there are certain standards and practices established by a play from its first performance. Not only did the violence serve as a practical means of marketing, but the emphasis and devotion to the villainous character of Aaron extends the role of the villain (Bowers 274). For the first time we have monologues of the villain developing if not at least trying to explain his motives. With this development, Shakespeare further progressed his craft and simultaneously, gained stature for his inclinations. The names of some of the shapes vary according to area, and sometimes the same name applies in different areas to different shapes. A few examples include: Spaghetti is long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin. Macaroni is a kind of moderately extended, machine made dry pasta. Much shorter than spaghetti, and hollow, macaroni does not contain eggs. Fusilli, a spiral shaped pasta, also called corkscrew pasta, is usually about four centimeters long. Fusilli is almost identical to another shaped pasta called rotini. They both have a spiral shape, but rotini is slightly larger, thicker and curlier. Lasanum is a form of pasta in sheets, made with alternate layers of pasta, cheese, and meat sauce or tomato sauce. When making delicious pasta dishes, be sure to choose a pasta shape and sauce that complement each other. Wells if they could change the story before they did, it may have turned out differently. H.G. Wells may not have wanted CBS to change it as much as they did. If the changes had not been made, then the broadcast may not have been as scary. However, CBS management did not ask permission so it is their fault that the broadcast was scary, realistic, and caused widespread panic. The revisions also removed several clues that might have helped late listeners figure out that the invasion was fake ( The Infamous War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast was a Magnificent Fluke 5). The way CBS changed the story made it very realistic as the fact that the broadcast was fictitious was mentioned only four times and was structured like a normal news broadcast. If a person tuned to CBS late and missed the first announcements about the broadcast being fictional, then they would probably believe the broadcast was announcing true news. Many people believe that the listeners are responsible for the panic, but CBS made the broadcast very believable and did not remind the listeners enough that the broadcast was fake news. A total of 12 simulations were run through the network. Flows were generated between hosts using the tool D ITG. 2. Traffic generation: D ITG is used for generating traffic in the network. Random hosts and clients are selected for sending traffic. To get sufficient delay in the network the link is used up to 100% in case of heavy traffic, around 70% for medium traffic and 20% for low traffic. The receiver logs are registered for each flow. Flows nature is UDP as UDP does not re attempt to send a dropped packet. The packet size is fixed to 1024 and number of packets send per second can be changed depending on the traffic requirement. The following tables give the details of each flow which were simulated for network 1. The network was created in Mininet. It consists of 12 hosts and 8 OpenV switches. It uses the external controller which is selected in Mininet python code. Network 2 is constructed in Mininet. It is a partial tree structure with 11 switches and 12 hosts. External Floodlight controller is connected to the Mininet network using python code. The controller is set in a different Virtual machine. One of the lay people explained that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people and their culture. With Hitler invading Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one another and others it caused a split in the religion. As reported by Maryles, a writer for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to be lost from Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its biggest bane . Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone else. Another conflict is intermarrying which means when people of various races or religion become connected by marriage. Spouses following different religious paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create afflicting ideals within the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and skewering us... the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of our Judaism . An additional issue is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are not teaching the Torah the same way it once was taught.
