Is the Experience of Suburbia Uniquely different to...
In the years following World War II, there was a drastic increase in population in America as a
result of the influx of soldiers returning home from the war, which brought on the need for more
housing options for them. The modern American suburbs were developed to meet that need. A
suburb is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary (2014) as an outlying district of a city,
especially a residential one . The emergence and development of the suburbs was made easier by
the implementing of various zoning laws and advances in transportation. In some older American
cities, specifically ones in the northeastern parts of the U.S. streetcar suburbs , which were
residential areas in which the primary mode of transportation was the use of streetcar lines,
emerged. This system made it easy for workers to go back and forth between their homes in the
suburbs and the city centres were majority of the job opportunities were located. The term bedroom
community , which meant that all the daytime proceedings took place in the cities and the working
population returned to the suburbs at night to go to sleep, was coined for that reason. In 1947 the
first major suburban development in the United States emerged. Abraham Levitt, an American
entrepreneur along with his two sons began the development in Long Island, New York and over
the course of a few years they managed to transform what was formerly farmland into a new
community of houses. That first suburban development which became known as

Logos In Thank You For Smoking
Title
In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and
inform the public on sex and during this era, sex was inappropriate to talk about.
On the other hand, In the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist
Nick Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Kinsey s argumentation
possesses logic and science, however Naylor possess more charisma, ethos, and an appeal to the
audience. Kinsey utilizes logos by having research and science justify his action and his life s
work on the sexual behaviors on men and women. However, Kinsey s research upsets private
matters at home and also rattles up the public. At home, Kinsey is manipulative towards his wife ...

Naylor s ethos is shown when he is in the conference with the senator. Naylor understands the
audience already knows that smoking is bad for oneself, so he pointed his finger to the real killer
in America, and the killer is Cholesterol or rather Virginia Cheese. Naylor understood that the
leading cause of death in America is heart disease or heart related problems. Naylor s stance on
this subject is that if you want a warning label on his cigarette, then the senator should have a
warning label that says cheese is a killer in America. Naylor shows that cheese is a killer,
however has a good connotation about itself. And right after, the senator asked, Will you give
your son his first cigarette? Naylors replied, if he wants a cigarette, I would happily buy him
one. Naylor is not an advocate for smoking; Naylor is an advocate for freedom of choice. Naylors
idea of smoking is that it s the duty of parents, teachers, and others to inform children to make
choices for themselves, not just because someone s mom says that smoking is bad for you. Naylor
shows in this instance of combining both logos and ethos of using science and the emotions of
others to influence his audience and win the

Online Consumer Behaviors And Social Networking
ABSTRACT
With businesses seeking to seize the momentum of social media and social networking, technology
enabled social commerce has emerged to combine the power of online social networking with
shopping. This study examines an emerging area in E commerce, i.e., social commerce. Extending
the online consumer behavior typology, this study categorizes online consumer behaviors into three
types: transactional, informational, and social. While traditional E commerce supports the
transactional and informational aspects of online shopping, social commerce fulfils the social
aspects of shopping, and potentially enhances the informational aspect as well. This research
examines the online shopper as a prospective user of an emerging social commerce platform, the
social shopping website, which are sites designed specifically to support social interactions while
online consumers shop. The study augments the Technology Acceptance Model with constructs that
enhance the specificity of the model to the social shopping application of social commerce. The
model was empirically tested and supported. The results provide empirical evidence to support the
importance of distinguishing the social aspect of shopping from the information and transactional
aspects, as well as the potential advantage to using technology to promote social interactions on E
commerce sites. Implications and future research are discussed. Keywords: E commerce, internet,
shopping, social networking

My Mother has had a Positive Influence on My Life Essays
There have been a vast number of lives that have touched mine. Many different people have
shared a piece of their soul in my formation. However, it is my mother who is the most important
and most influential person in my life. My mother raised me by herself since the day I was
born. My father was abusive and she left to make a better life for the both of us. She has worked
as many as four jobs at one time. My mother wants to make sure my brothers and I have a better
life than she did. It hasn t always been easy for her, taking care of us on her own, trying to pay
bills and making sure we had everything we needed. My mom has always had us involved in
sports at a very young age. We always were doing something or involved in something... Show

Education is the key to success and without it you will not have a future. That is embedded in
my brain. As a teenager you listen to your parents nag on you all the time about school and just
think it s easier said than done. But for me I lived through paradigm, my mom went back to
school while raising us and working two jobs. She graduated from ASU with a 4.0 GPA and was
honored and on the news because of all she s done and went through in her lifetime. I have a
difficult enough time doing my homework and going to basketball training. My mother went to
school full time, had two jobs, cooked for us, cleaned, paid bills, went to our games and still
managed to get a 4.0. She always tells us if I can do it you can. Nothing in life comes easy you
have to work for it, then you will be a success, if it is just given to you then you will never
recognize the value of it. My mother has taught me to be courageous and always stand up for
what I believe in. Every day, when I think about all that she went through while raising us, I
really am astonished. She has basically given up her life for us making sure that we be successful
in everyway. I can remember her letting me try out for club basketball when I was in sixth grade,
the money didn t even daunt her she always found away. However, when someone hurts anyone of

amongst many other minorities can be difficult. This can cause many mental illnesses to the

which includes Chinese Americans. I know myself that it s hard living in a place where there is

depressive symptoms than those of a white person. They stated Family and parenting factors
were found to be associated with Chinese American adolescents depressive symptoms, including
family functioning (Crane et al. 2005), family conflict (Juang et al. 2007; Lim et al. 2009),
supportive parenting (Kim amp; Ge 2000), parental control (Juang et al. 2007; Lim et al. 2009),
and parental monitoring (Kim et al. 2009; Kim amp; Ge 2000). Like what was stated in the
previous paragraph, it said that Chinese American adolescents have less mental health and
behavioral problems. The reason being is because the children are able to communicate with their
parents more in which the family regulates a set of norms and just talking to one another. In
Yuwen and Chen s study, they recruited Chinese American adolescents from a Chinese school and
a church. The criteria listed to be in the study was that the person had to self identify themselves
as either Chinese, Taiwanese, Chinese American, or Taiwanese American, had to be between the
ages of 12 and 19, and had one parent who was born in china or Taiwan (page 237). They
conducted two focus groups and the questions (containing 15 questions) were asked in either
English or Mandarin (depending on the adolescents preference). The adolescents also had to fill out

My Last Day On Earth Essay
You never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday. My mother
told my brother and I the night before tragedy struck. I went to bed on that quiet night in May;
woken up by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin,
Travis, dying in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my
nightmarehas become a reality. Being only 14 years old, I couldn t quite grasp the idea that my best
friend, my other brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of
my life, I applied my mothers saying, you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make
the best out of everyday to everything I did/do. Travis would have never known his last day on
Earth would be May 21st, 2012, only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second;
so why don t we live each day like its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly,
it takes tragedy to make people realize that tomorrow is not granted.
I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I
was surprised when my mom said, Tell your cousin bye, Brookie. . Since the day he moved out,
he continued to be my very best friend. Calling him every night, upset about family issues, school
work, the fight I had with my friend that day, he was there for me every single night getting me
through it all; then as soon as my life got much more hard,

Mnemonic Research Paper
A mnemonic device is a technique a person can use to help them improve their ability to
remember something. It would be considered a memory technique to help your brain better
encode and recall important information used daily and plenty often. A common mnemonic for
remembering lists is to create an easily remembered acronym also known as the mnemonic, or
taking each of the initial letters of the listed members, and help create a memorable phrase, in
which some words with the acronym as the material. Anyone and everyone can create their own
mnemonic to help aid their memory or memorization of a novel material in which we used most
often. A mnemonic device is a tool to help remember facts or a large amount of information. This
can include making a song, a rhyme, an acronym, an image, or a phrase to help remember a list
of facts and important data or information in a certain and more precise manner. An example I
have always known and had been taught as a kid would be, Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally .
This mnemonic device is known to help you remember the order of operations . This mnemonic
example stands for and helps you remember how to start off an equation. It goes like this,

The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh Essay
Shiloh is a wonderfully dramatic battle. The leader of one side is killed, and the other one is
going on to glory, and it was the first great battle. It lasted two days (Shelby Foote). From this
quote, you see it talks about the two sides and one team loses and the other one wins. The title of
the book is The drummer boy of Shiloh which is written by Ray Bradbury. The story takes place in
the peach orchard in the middle of the night. With the story being a historical fictionit mentions
peach blossoms. The peach blossoms symbolizes the divine fruit of the gods with the power to
keep you perpetually young. The blossoms also symbolizes good luck and a state of intense
love. Moreover, the characters of this book are Joby and the General. Joby is the drummer boy
for the army. He has just turned 14, and has been in the army for 3 weeks. The character compares
his self by not differing his self. Even though he and only his drums he still was courageous. He
still went to warand tried to protect himself even without guns and weapons. The General is also
a character of the book due to the fact he was the leader . He played an important role in Joby s life
in the army.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

else will not do. Even though he is scared and has an internal conflict of dying, the General gives
him passion and confidence. Which makes Joby not afraid to take the challenge of leading the

Analysis of The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost Essay
Thesis Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken is more symbolic of a choice one must make in their
life in attempt to foresee the outcome before reaching the end, than it is about choosing the right
path in the woods. Describe the literal scene and situation. The literal scene of Robert Frost s
The Road Not Taken, is described as a yellowed wood (Arp Johnson, 2009). Use of this description
could be that fall is upon the wood or the trees perhaps once white have yellowed with age.
Before the traveler is a road split into two different directions, he has no idea where each road
leads. In trying to imagine, where each one might lead he tries to look down each path (Arp
Johnson, 2009), but to no avail as he can only see as far as the... Show more content on

It could just be symbolic for a choice that he must make in his life. As college students, our road
is what major we will choose and this will help decide the outcome of our future. When one
decides to follow God a divided path becomes the focus of our lives, do we continue down the
path we have been on our whole lives, and is well known but will surely lead to death? On the
other hand, do we choose the path God would have us take not only changing our lives, but in
the end instead of an eternity spent in the cold grip of death, we find eternal life? Why does the
title emphasize the road not taken? The emphasis on the road not taken is Frost s way of making
us think as we read this poem that no matter which way the speaker chose to go a road would
always stay not taken. The speaker intended to complete his journey on the chosen path, then at
another time go back, and take the other direction. What are the rhythm patterns that Frost uses in
the poem (include the scansion and technical methods: alliteration, assonance, and consonance)?
Frost uses both masculine rhyme and end rhyme. The masculine rhyme is the rhyming sounds
that contain only one syllable such as wood, stood, and should. The end rhyme pattern that Frost
uses is, A, B, A, A, B C, D, C, C, D E, F, E, E, F and G, H, G, G, H. (Arp Johnson, 2009). There
are lines of this poem that show the alliteration method, two examples are found in line 6 then took

Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Jack London s To Build...
Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Jack London s To Build A Fire
Stephen Crane s short story, The Open Boat speaks directly to Jack London s own story, To Build A
Fire in their applications of naturalism and views on humanity. Both writers are pessimistic in their
views of humanity and are acutely aware of the natural world. The representations of their
characters show humans who believe that they are strong and can ably survive, but these characters
many times overestimate themselves which can lead to an understanding of their own mortality as
they face down death.
In To Build A Fire , the main conflict throughout is man versus naturealthough it would be
inaccurate to say that nature goes out of its way to assault the man. The ... Show more content on

The man laughs him off because he views himself as superior towards other men and believes that
he can easily survive in the wilderness. The Man s ego allowed him to think that he had everything
under control, even though his fingers were numb from the cold.
Eventually, survival becomes the primary focus of the Man, who is trying, in vain, to protect
himself against the unforgiving force of nature. He fruitlessly tries to warm himself back up,
which is a direct contrast to the complete indifference displayed by Yukon. The environment
merely remains the same and does not care one way or another as to whether the man survives or
not. Jack London also uses numbers to reinforce the harsh realities of the Yukon, such as how fifty
degrees below zero is the marker for the danger zone. The use of numbers shows the desperation of
the Man s situation and readers can slowly see his situation deteriorating further and further. Also,
the idea of naturalism claims that the world is knowable only through objective science and that
hard facts, such as temperature degrees, makes this particular world knowable and present some
semblance of familiarity.
Jay Gurian comments in his article, The Romantic Necessity in Literary Naturalism: Jack London ,
about how London, and other naturalist writers deal with the forces of nature:

Formula One Racing Essay
Formula One Racing
Formula one is the fastest racing car in the world. It is called the greatest car show in the world.
Formula one has a great influence on the people. Millions of people sit in front of the TV set or
around the circuit and watch the race. The drivers are often called kings of speed and they show
their ability to drive fast every second week of the season.
People wondered about this racing many years ago. The cars were very different from today s
formula ones. The question of safety and also the atmosphere of racing was different. It was a
risk to drive so fast and a lot of tragic accidents happened. Also the rules have been changed since
the first race was held. The rules are very strict today for safety. According... Show more content on

The safety car appears when an accident happens. Drivers must drive behind the safety car slowly
and they cannot overtake each other. When someone doesn t obey the rules he has a penalty. It
means that he must take a few seconds pit stop.
When a F1 team and its drivers want to succeed, they must have a good team strategy. It means
that the team management must plan everything important. They decide whether to use hard or
soft tires, how many pit stops the driver should have, how much fuel to take, which driver is
number one on the team... Today s top teams have very good strategies which are different in
every race. The best teams are McLaren, Ferrari, Jordan, Williams F1 and than less successful
Stewart, Arrows, Minardi... The drivers of McLaren are Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard.
The strategy in this team is very interesting. The drivers can compete between each other even
when Mika is number one! So David can take points which can make Mika winner of the season.
The drivers of Ferrari are Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine. And the strategy? No.2 has to
support No.1. My favorite team is Jordan Mugen Honda whose drivers are H.H.Frentzen and
Damon Hill.
The team s strategy must adapt to each Grand Prix. There are several Grand Prix with different
circuits during the season. For instance GP of Germany, Italy, Monaco, Canada, Europe, Hungary,
Austria and Japan. The current season in 1999 has a special new Grand Prix of Malaysia which
was held last week. First was

Explain The Four Levels Of Protection
The EPA has determined four levels of protection. The four levels of protection used during spill
response and cleanup activities are Level A, Level B, Level C and Level D protection.
Level A protection is required when the greatest potential for exposure to hazards exists for skin,
respiratory, and eye protection. The personal protective equipment (PPE) must be gas tight, vapor
tight and splash resistant and it should be worn when there is a possible threat to life and health, or
during operations dealing with an unknown hazard, such as during spill response and cleanup. For
example during spill response and cleanup activities totally encapsulated chemical and vapour

Importance Of Writing Reflection
When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I
thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal.
As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality
did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of
this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective.
As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn
about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of
journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research
paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how
to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it
nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our
understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been
spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the
region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class
work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was
deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class.

Resilience In Zolli s Learning To Bounce Back
After reading Zolli s essay on Learning to Bounce Back , I believe that Zolli is using two forms
or styles of definition, Operational and Example , he appears to use these frequently throughout
his article. It appears, that his use of these two styles is very effective as his argument moves
forward. In one part of his article, where Zolli comments on the use of LEED certified green
building in Lower Manhattan after 9/11, being very friendly to the environment, but not able to

If you want to see examples of resilience, all you have to do is look at recent events. Hurricanes
Harvey, Maria and Irma, these three massive storms decimated, Houston the 4th largest city in
the U.S, caused widespread damage to the state of Florida, and let s not forget the massive
destruction throughout the Caribbean Islands. The people of these areas could have just left
and said enough is enough, and yes some did leave. However, a vast majority of the population
of these areas has stayed a vowed to rebuild. This is what I call resilience, to stay where
everything you owned is gone, there s no power, food shortage, gas shortage, little to no water to
drink. You have to agree that this is definitely resilience shown by these people, to overcome
difficulties, to bounce back and recover, to never give up or give in. When giving up would be the
easy way out, these people have shown true resilience staying and fighting for what you believe in.
Another example of resilience, I just experienced personally within my own classroom as an
automotive instructor was, when one of my student s mother recently passed away from stage four
breast cancer, the student could have just shut down and not been able to continue in class, but this
student has shown great strength and character, by continuing to be in class everyday by showing

The Struggle for Self-Definition in Boys and Girls by...
The Struggle for Self Definition in Boys and Girls
When we are adolescents we see the world through our parents eyes. We struggle to define
ourselves within their world, or to even break away from their world. Often, the birth of our self
is defined in a moment of truth or a moment of heightened self awareness that is the culmination
of a group of events or the result of a life crisis or struggle. In literature we refer to this birth of self
as an epiphany. Alice Munrowrites in Boys and Girls about her own battle to define herself. She is

Yet, she is filled with the sense of being a part of something important. It seemed to me that work
. . . done out of doors, and in my father s service, was ritualistically important (113). She is
contributing to the family income in her own way when each year she rakes the grass, carries
water for the foxes, or cleans the watering dishes. Her father may be stern, but he is proud of his
tom boy. He remarks to a passing salesman, Like to have you meet my new hired man. This
praise from her father fills her with delight, I turned away and raked furiously, red in the face with
pleasure (112). Children need praise from their parents like they need food.
Then, in the months prior to Christmas, Father slaughters the animals, skins them, and sells their

where she lives. The smell of the pelting process . . . penetrated all parts of the house. The reader
finds the whole process and the fact that she watches this process with her brother, Laird,
repulsive at first, but she describes the process as reassuringly seasonal, like the smell of oranges
and pine needles. These things are normal for her, yet in the following passage there is an under

particular gendered toys have on children and their performance of traditional gender roles.
Gender, which is a learned performance, is something society has been taught from a very early
age and toy advertising has played a significant role in reinforcing the performance. One tradition
that is reinforced and naturalized by society is the ideology of a male dominated society,
representing strong characteristics of heterosexuality and masculinity; also known as hegemonic
masculinity. Therefore, using Ideological Criticism, I will analyze how through the branding and
design of Legos Duplo toys, children have been constructed to do gender differently, ultimately
perpetuating and reinforcing hegemonic masculinity.
Lego s Duplo Series
Context
Billund, Denmark in the early 1900s. In the small village of Billund, Denmark, Ole Kirk
Kristiansen began building his dream of toy manufacturing in a woodworking shop. Within this
shop, the first Lego toys of wooden ducks, planes, and trucks were created. Soon after, the Lego
name, stemming from the Danish word Legt Godt was developed. The title of Legt Godt, meaning,

Sundiata Character Analysis
What makes a man worthy to be honorable? Is his greatness something earned through struggle
or just a title that has been passed down? It is the man Sundiata is destined to have been, the
greatest king, as he is portrayed in D.T Niane s classic tale Sundiata: an epic of old Mali. This
classic tale shows the impact of courage, power, and motherly love on the life of the ancient
africans kingdom s greatest king. D.T Niane s shows the life of a man once being looked down
upon, to now being known as one of the greatest in history.
Courage or the act of being courageous is something that can depict if a person is being weak.
This act ties into the classic tale when identifying the strength it took Sundiata to walk. Sundiata
was at an age where other young boys were gathering objects for their mothers and he simply
could not, due to the fact that he was unable to walk. However, In a great effort he straightened
up and was on his feet at one go, but the great bar of iron was twisted and had taken the form of a
bow. (Page 21) A boy who once couldn t walk was now walking. He who once had to depend on his
mother can now be the one his mother depends on. Thus, When Sogolon saw her son standing
she stood dumb for a moment, then suddenly she sang these words of thanks to god who had
given her son the use of his legs . (Page 21) Sogolon was so discouraged to the point where the
sight of her son s slow development became an embarrassment. She soon became joyful of the

Courtship And Marriage In The 1800 s
A young woman, Hannah, is soon to be married to William Drew of Isle of Wight County. Her
family has been planning the wedding for years, and preparing her to be appreciated as a member
of society and a successful housewife, being as Hannah has trained her whole life to be a wife and
mother, and is less concerned about love in marriagethan about how it will affect her socially.
Hannah has courted William Drew as many other young women in the society of England around
the 1800 s have also done in order to take their first step into adulthood; marriage (Elizabeth
Maurer). Hannah is an example of a young girl who lived in England during the 1800 s and went
through courtship and marriage. Courtship and marriage during the Victorian days compared to
today s relationships varies tremendously and can be encompassed into general information,
courtship, the effect of social class, and divorces. The love affairs of those living in England in the
1880 s prove to be vastly different from those experienced today. For instance, marrying first cousins

During the 1800 s English people had to follow many specific social rules in order to be
considered a respectable member of society. For instance, A single woman never addressed a
gentleman without an introduction ( Courtship ). Many of these young people met at social events
like balls or through friends and family, although the greatest formality was taken at the beginning
of the relationship. Courtship progressed through highly regarded steps until the couple felt ready
for marriage. And, often, men and women in courting rarely talked, yet rushed into marriage to
realize that they were not even fond of each other ( Courtship ). As much as courtship had an effect
on the life of the English people, the effect of social status equally changed the situations of those

Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max )
Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost,
Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max
Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser
Western Illinois University, Department of Biology
Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds
which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked
plants (1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid
beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their
root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene
expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will
use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and
Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25
oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene
expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray
analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple
comparison test will be used to determine the significance of the data. This study will give us a
good idea on the effect of bacterial fertilizers (Defensor,

Logical Fallacies In Brutus s Monologue
Having been faced with the plea of the people , Brutus ultimately sacrifices his friendship for his
honor when convincing himself to kill Caesar during his monologue in act 2 scene 1. He
structures his argument with declarative logical fallacies when starting his case with the
proclamation that it must be by [Caesar s] death that Rome can continue its state of peace, having
already made up his mind to join the conspiracy. He questions how Ceaser might change his
nature when coming into power in line 14, and uses metaphors to compare him to a poisonous
snake who would prey on power, to excuse his decision. He continues this metaphor when alluding
Caesar to the demon from the Garden of Eden and declaring Caesar must be stopped before he

Network Design Essay
3 General Ideas:
The three general ideas which are interesting to my preference would be,
Network Security
Network Architecture and
Artificial Intelligence
1. Network Security:
Keeping a network secured is always mandatory because information cannot be share by a person
who is unauthorized and network security is an advanced procedure where it will prevent possible
access or misuse of information on network or modify any data on the network without having an
access to it. There are several ways of network security by which a network can be secured.
The three sub areas which I have selected in Network Security are,
Data Loss Prevention: Any company which has a network and few work stations which work on
this network should make sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, NAC (Network Access Control) is the process which will be giving limited access depending on
their designation.
2. Network Architecture:
This is one of the most important phase while creating a secured network. Network architecture
will discuss the design of network which has both software and hardware connectivity along with
process of transmission and communications in both wired or wireless networks. There are few
topologies (star, bus, loop or mesh) and types of networks (LAN, WAN or MAN) which are to be
considered and then need to work on the architecture accordingly.
The three sub areas which I have selected for Network Architecture are,
Planning of Network Design: A proper planning of a network design will always lead to better
results. Planning should be done in such a way that network should always run properly and
should be secured 24/7. Strong firewalls and updated components are to be picked for proper
planning of network. There should always be a space in network so that we can either expand or
add few more components to network which will make network even more big. Blueprints of
networks must be made prior to network design because they are the ones which will be helpful in
designing the actual network.
Data Transfers within the network: Making sure that data is

When people think of Homeland Security most people think of Border Protection, Immigration

get overlooked. When the Department of Homeland Security was established in 2002, there were
22 different Federal agencies which were combined and absorbed into this one department. This
consolidation was intended to streamline the exchange of information and cooperative efforts
towards the mission of securing this nation. This vision of cooperation has helped create a safer
environment in the United States, and helped prepare emergency personnel in the detection,

Ever since I graduated from Dalhousie University, I have been teaching English in Korea. In
July of 2007 I went to Daegu to teach at a hagwon. Before I graduated, I spent my last year of
university researching Korean society and culture. I wanted to know as much about the country
and people as possible before heading there. When I arrived in Daegu, I was surprised by how well
I managed to fit in so quickly. I was expecting culture shock, as I had never been out of North

While my Korean friends are surprised by my knowledge, my skills are still quite basic. It is my
intention to study Korean history at the graduate level in the near future, so a deeper understanding

academic dreams, stemming from previous success I had.
When it comes to my educational philosophy, it is quite varied. I believe in leading by example
since, as a teacher, I should be the students role model. I believe teachers should be very flexible
with their techniques, as not all students learn the same way or at the same rate. Learning should
be a natural process and is best nurtured through interest. While books are useful tools, other
avenues must be used as well (multi media, games, activities, role playing etc). Students should
look at mistakes as a chance to learn and better themselves, rather than as obstacles. Teachers
should be fair in both punishing and rewarding students. As a teacher, I was always keenly aware I
held my students futures in the palms of my hands. That is a responsibility I do not take

Character Analysis Of Femme Fatale
Her duplicitous nature is confirmed after her husband s death. She acts very jumpy and flustered.
Once questions about his death are asked, she lies. She even drags Gittes to be a part of her lies;
successfully manipulating both, the police and Gittes. During the mourning period, it is then
revealed that she was also cheating on her husband, further demonstrating as deceitful character.
Soon after, while she is assisting Gittes investigate her husband s death, she seduces him, and then
leaves him due a suspicious call. When confronted, she lies once again, and tries to act as a
helpless woman crying, in need of a strong male to rescue her. All these actions, portray Evelyn as

Women were not only householders but providers. This change conflicted with the traditional
woman. But as the war ended, men returned home, and women were pushed back into the
households. This piece of history plays an essential role in how the women were presented in the
film noir. Hollywood offers a progressive representation of those working women who went back
quietly. The femme fatale took the strength of independence during the war. The women were then
portrayed as cold and cruel, directly reflecting upon the sour truth of the reality the unfair treatment
the women. Both Phyllis and Brigid were manipulative, controlling, and powerful women;
consistently depicting the irony.
Moreover, the time period of 1960s and 70s, was the period of women s liberation and feminism.
At the same time, the country was also experiencing the post Watergate world. So, the movie
Chinatown, presents both those aspects of the society. Polanski strongly emphasizes on the
corruption and complexities of the dark society throughout the movie, while remaining true to the
character of Evelyn. Women in this time period are no longer illustrated as strong and cold, but
rather independent and dehumanized. Clearly, it still made woman dangerous, but more liberated.
This is the main reason behind why Evelyn is shown as a soft femme fatale character. She is
dangerous and possess all the qualities of the femme fatale, but she has a reason behind her actions.

Amplitude versus Offset (AVO) inversion has been used to invert seismic reflectiondata to identify
gas bearing sands. There are a number of relations which have been proposed to do this inversion.
These relations have been derived from the basic Zoeppritz equations which are nonlinear. In order
to be efficiently incorporated in reservoir modelling software, it is desirable that the inversion is
linear in nature. Some simplifying assumptions are made in deriving these linear relations. These
assumptions are not always satisfied in real earth. Synthetic seismic reflection data is first generated
and then inverted using the different linear relationships. The efficiency of these relationships in
obtaining model parameters will be determined and the effect of lithological changes on inversion
efficiency will also be examined. The inversion efficiency of different

Examples Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi
In the memoir Coming of age in mississippi Anne Moody uses ethos and logos to make her
memoir more credible. .One way she uses logos is when she said A couple of the boys took one
end rope and made it into a hangman s noose. Several attempts were made to put it around our
necks. This appeals to the story since the story talks about blacks not being equal to whites, and
the hangman s noose is most likely about lynching. It really shows how cruel white people were
back then. Another way she uses logos is when she uses the exact times of when this event
occurred. For example To divert the attention from the sit in at Woolworth s,the picketing started at

The First Time Of The Second Time
For this essay I compared the first time I went to Massachusetts compare to the second time. The
first time was when I was 15 years old, the second time was when I was 19. When I was in 7th
grade I met my lifelong friend Caitlin. We did almost everything together. If you saw one of us
the other was close behind. When I was 13 years old, she and her familymoved to Massachusetts.
Both of these experiences were completely different. I will talk about the pros and cons of both of
the trips.
The first time I went to Massachusetts I went for an entire week I was only 15 years old my
grandparents drove me to York County and then I was picked up by Caitlin s parents and
brought to their house in Marlboro, Massachusetts. We had a lot of fun, but because of our age,
we were limited to what we could do. We couldn t go to the store by yourself. We couldn t go to
the mall by yourself. We couldn t do much other than go for walks that the place is only a mile
away. Caitlin got me hooked on Monster when I was up there so I had seven in one week and
ended up going home with a UTI, and my hair blonde when I was trying to make it light brown.
When I was there it was hard because Caitlin s mom was always telling her she needs to clean she
need to watch her siblings, she needed to do everything that her mom said and we spend the entire
vacation cleaning and doing work that her mom wanted. Those were all the cons. The pros of the
trip was that I got to see her and got to spend the ride

The Story Of Ghosts By Henrik Ibsen
Duty To Death The story of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen shows us a multitude of issues, whether the
readers think the piece as a basic form of literature or believe that the scripture shows the issues
and lies or the fighting facts of injustice in the text. The constant fight between free will and duty in
this story triumphs the characters of Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders as they convene over what
they think is right and what they are bound to do, even as the smaller character of Regine slightly
deals with the same issue.
Duty comes up in repeated cycles throughout the script of Ghosts, and the roles people are bound
to in their life relays to the role they act in society. The duty of Mrs. Alving is no soft tale, as we
are told of her husband s horrid affairs. The wife and mother of her nature and setting is duty
bound to protect her husband s reputation, no matter how unsavory he is, and to sacrifice
everything for her son. In return, the son must love his mother. In a way, we question the duty
of the mother and ask whether or not it was right of Mrs. Alving to cover her husband s actions
from her son, Osvald. Despite Ibsen s opinion of conspiracy, the cover up and how he writes the
script as if he supports the hiding and the sacrifice, the reader on their own must make a choice in
the matter. For Mrs. Alving to know her motherly duty and protect her son during his young years
was a courageous execution for the paths she found available. As said by George Bernard Shawin

Confucianism has been for over 25 centuries, the dominant philosophical system in China and the

The Complex Structures Of The Limbic System
Limbic System The complex structures of the limbic system boarder the thalamus, belt around the
fornix and the Corpus Callosum. The limbic system possesses an array of unique functions due to
its complex and unique structures. The system contains the hypothalamus, mammillary bodies,
septal area, amygdala, hippocampus, orbital and medial prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens,
ventral striatum and cingulate gyrus (ebrain, 2016). The limbic lobe is mainly responsible for
facilitating mental functions and behavior such as emotions, cognition, judgment, impulsivity,
learning, memory, pain, perception, motivation, and reward (ebrain, 2016). It is generally a site for
the establishment of memory, learning and emotion.
The limbic system contains many unique structures, the hypothalamus being the primary output
structure, because it is connected to the frontal lobes, septal nuclei and the brain stem. The
hypothalamus is located at the optic chiasm, and connects the limbic system and the autonomic
nervous system. Many different biological inputs influence the endocrine functions of the
hypothalamus. The body and changes in the body act as an input system for the hypothalamus.
Temperature, osmolality, glucose, and sodium concentrations act as internal sensors that signal the
function of the hypothalamus. Inputs are received through the fornix and the amygdala pathways

words, thoughts, and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went

killed when she was very young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to
find work. Most places where she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her
vulnerable to physical and verbal abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship,
and though she did end up loving him he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone
to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to
work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame
Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in Felicite s days. Her first hardship was
the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained in the story, when Felicite s
nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping a letter from him would
arrive soon. The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was alright was something
that those who knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people lost loved ones to

Windshield Survey Research Paper
The town I chose to do my windshield survey on was Jamestown, NC, 27282. I chose Jamestown
because this is where I grew up and this is where my grandparents live. Performing this
windshield survey will allow me to observe all the things the town of Jamestown have to offer
and to see what barriers may exist for a community health nurse trying to work with the residents
of Jamestown. In my opinion a windshield observation is one of the most important tasks that a
community nurse has to perform since this will allow them to know what is available for their
patients. Jamestown is a small town snuggled between Greensboro and High Point. There are
many people that do not even know Jamestown exists because it is so small of a town that they
just assume it is either Greensboro or High Point. Several years ago Jamestown put up signs saying

I drove into Jamestown one thing that stands out are all the historic sites that you pass and all the
road signs telling you about the different historical facts of Jamestown. One sign tells of how
Jamestown was founded by Quaker farms in 1752. Another sign tells about the Mendenhall
Plantation which was established in 1811 by a Quaker farmer and now serves as a museum. As I

Use Of Allusion And Symbolism In The Samurai s Garden
Love can be twisted, tangled, and tortuous. Gail Tsukiyama analyzes this concept within her novel,
The Samurai s Garden. Amidst the Second Sino Japanese War is a young Chinese man named
Stephen, who travels to the small village of Tarumi in order to recover from tuberculosis. On his
journey, he encounters a young Japanese woman by the name of Keiko. Soon enough, they become
deeply fond of one another. Torn by their racial differences, Stephen and Keiko must end their once
thriving relationship. In this passage, the author effectively uses allusion and symbolism to convey
the theme that relationships do not always work out smoothly. To begin, the author uses allusion to
associate Stephen and Keiko s unfortunate circumstances to William Shakespeare s

Threat of Substitutes

anyone who want to quickly buy good and high quality products. Even though other sellers are

How to maintain current customers
Currently, there are many supermarkets and local retailers that have a lot of branches and
continuing to open the new branch every single day, thus, this will cause the competitiveness within
the supermarket industry, thus, the AYE needs to find the better way to manage and maintain the
current customers in order to keep them purchasing their products and it needs to be archived as
soon as possible.
Problem
Change Paper base system
The main problem of the AYE in the current situation is the use of data management and storage.
AYE has been using paper base system for storing important data and information which is too
inaccurate, inefficient, and time consuming. The system leads various troubles, such as, paper lost,
or deteriorated. Furthermore, it slow down other processes deliberately. For example, not even
delaying the ordering process, but also stock checking. Moreover, it is less efficiency when storing
data and information than using computer calculation. Such that, AYE should adjust the system
concerning the better performance of data

The Polish Solidarity Party
Everyone has certain rights and with those rights come certain responsibilities which one
must fulfill in order to preserve his or her rights. Those involved in the Polish Solidarity
Party, which began as an independent labor union, had rights which they satisfied in order to
protect their rights and in doing so, they created a new and improved Poland. Previous to the
formation of the Solidarity Party, the Communist regime controlled Poland. Communism, based
on the ideas and teachings of Karl Marx, is a system in which everyone is seen as equal and
wealth is distributed equally among the people. The Cold War brought Communism, which was

citizens of Poland, to change Poland to what he believed was best for the people and took
responsibility for his actions and in doing so, he aided Poland in becoming a free and better
country. Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States of America, also had a great
impact on Poland in the Communist era. President Reagan made it known that America stood

communist regime . In a letter to Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan wrote:
We call upon all free people to join in urging the Government of Poland to reestablish conditions
that will make constructive negotiations and compromise possible. Certainly, it will be impossible
for us to continue trying to help Poland solve its economic problems while martial law is imposed
on the people of Poland, thousands are imprisoned, and the legal rights of free trade unions
previously granted by the government are now denied... Our nation was born in resistance to
arbitrary power and has been repeatedly enriched by immigrants

Amazima Ministries
People are suffering all around the world and are desperate for the help of those who can provide
it. We as Americans can t even begin to comprehend the problems that people of Uganda
experience in their daily lives. The struggles that they face derive from the fact that 51% of the
Ugandan population lives on less than $1 a day (Katie Davis Speaks). Many of the people in Uganda
are uneducated and therefore unable to obtain jobs, resulting in a massive unemployment rate in
Uganda. Without a job, it s nearly impossible for them to get the money they need to support
themselves, much less an entire family. Most do not have easy access to some of the most basic
necessities, such as food, water, and shelter. With poor living conditions and health... Show more

She decided to give up the life she had in the United States to travel to Uganda, only relying on
funds from her family and friends back home to help support her and her efforts. This eventually
led to the development of Amazima Ministries, whose mission was to provide food, medical
care, education, and work to those in need in Uganda (Katie Davis Speaks). Today, Davis s
ministry provides for nearly 1,600 children, some who would not even be alive today without it.
One of the first children Davis s ministry provided for was a young girl named Agnes, only nine
when Davis found her. Her parents had both died from HIV, and she was left to care for her two
younger sisters. She had no money and little access to food and water. Davis took Agnes under
her wing and gave her the care that she so desperately needed. Agnes and her sisters are now
healthy, and Agnes is a caregiver for Amazima (Davis 154). Amazima has had a huge impact on a
multitude of children, and Agnes s story is a reflection of that impact. The ministry has had the
ability to completely turn children s lives around, providing them with opportunities that they
have only ever dreamed about. Davis, now twenty one, is a mom to thirteen young Ugandan girls
who do not have families that can support or provide for them. Davis admits she could never have
imagined this was where her journey in Uganda would lead her, but she has kept the mindset that
one [child] is enough (Davis 204). She did everything she could to help every child that crossed
her path, regardless of the circumstances. This mindset is what has driven Amazima Ministries to
become what it is now and what will continue to drive it to become something even greater in the

Kyoto Protocol Is An International Agreement
Introduction to the Kyoto Protocol
Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement which was announced in Kyoto, Japan in 1997. It is
considered as the supplement of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change) and the main target for the Kyoto protocol is to reduce the emissions of anthropogenic
greenhouse gases. Nowadays, there are 192 Parties that have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol
and the overall emission of these countries accounts for 61% of the total greenhouse gases emission
on world. The agreement was designed first to solve the issue on greenhouse gas emission and it is
one of the most well known environmental issue in public and becomes worse and worse through
time. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas emission today is necessary and crucial for the
sustainability of the environment. One of the most famous impact of greenhouse gas emission is
the sea level increasing. As the tremendous amount of greenhouse gas emissions in 21 century, it
leads to the global warming and thus the Earth s climate has warmed by approximately 0.6
Celsius degree over the past 100 years. Increasing of sea level makes island countries such as
Maldives face the problem that the majority of its land area might be underwater by the end of the
century( Union of Concerned Scientists,2011).
The specific goal that the developed countries have to meet is to reduce the greenhouse gas
emission by around 5% below their 1990 levels from 2008 to 2012 and the amounts may

  • 2. Is the Experience of Suburbia Uniquely different to... In the years following World War II, there was a drastic increase in population in America as a result of the influx of soldiers returning home from the war, which brought on the need for more housing options for them. The modern American suburbs were developed to meet that need. A suburb is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary (2014) as an outlying district of a city, especially a residential one . The emergence and development of the suburbs was made easier by the implementing of various zoning laws and advances in transportation. In some older American cities, specifically ones in the northeastern parts of the U.S. streetcar suburbs , which were residential areas in which the primary mode of transportation was the use of streetcar lines, emerged. This system made it easy for workers to go back and forth between their homes in the suburbs and the city centres were majority of the job opportunities were located. The term bedroom community , which meant that all the daytime proceedings took place in the cities and the working population returned to the suburbs at night to go to sleep, was coined for that reason. In 1947 the first major suburban development in the United States emerged. Abraham Levitt, an American entrepreneur along with his two sons began the development in Long Island, New York and over the course of a few years they managed to transform what was formerly farmland into a new community of houses. That first suburban development which became known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Logos In Thank You For Smoking Title In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and inform the public on sex and during this era, sex was inappropriate to talk about. On the other hand, In the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist Nick Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Kinsey s argumentation possesses logic and science, however Naylor possess more charisma, ethos, and an appeal to the audience. Kinsey utilizes logos by having research and science justify his action and his life s work on the sexual behaviors on men and women. However, Kinsey s research upsets private matters at home and also rattles up the public. At home, Kinsey is manipulative towards his wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Naylor s ethos is shown when he is in the conference with the senator. Naylor understands the audience already knows that smoking is bad for oneself, so he pointed his finger to the real killer in America, and the killer is Cholesterol or rather Virginia Cheese. Naylor understood that the leading cause of death in America is heart disease or heart related problems. Naylor s stance on this subject is that if you want a warning label on his cigarette, then the senator should have a warning label that says cheese is a killer in America. Naylor shows that cheese is a killer, however has a good connotation about itself. And right after, the senator asked, Will you give your son his first cigarette? Naylors replied, if he wants a cigarette, I would happily buy him one. Naylor is not an advocate for smoking; Naylor is an advocate for freedom of choice. Naylors idea of smoking is that it s the duty of parents, teachers, and others to inform children to make choices for themselves, not just because someone s mom says that smoking is bad for you. Naylor shows in this instance of combining both logos and ethos of using science and the emotions of others to influence his audience and win the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Online Consumer Behaviors And Social Networking ABSTRACT With businesses seeking to seize the momentum of social media and social networking, technology enabled social commerce has emerged to combine the power of online social networking with shopping. This study examines an emerging area in E commerce, i.e., social commerce. Extending the online consumer behavior typology, this study categorizes online consumer behaviors into three types: transactional, informational, and social. While traditional E commerce supports the transactional and informational aspects of online shopping, social commerce fulfils the social aspects of shopping, and potentially enhances the informational aspect as well. This research examines the online shopper as a prospective user of an emerging social commerce platform, the social shopping website, which are sites designed specifically to support social interactions while online consumers shop. The study augments the Technology Acceptance Model with constructs that enhance the specificity of the model to the social shopping application of social commerce. The model was empirically tested and supported. The results provide empirical evidence to support the importance of distinguishing the social aspect of shopping from the information and transactional aspects, as well as the potential advantage to using technology to promote social interactions on E commerce sites. Implications and future research are discussed. Keywords: E commerce, internet, shopping, social networking Ecommerce and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I went to bed on that quiet night in May; woken up by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin, Travis, dying in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my nightmarehas become a reality. Being only 14 years old, I couldn t quite grasp the idea that my best friend, my other brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of my life, I applied my mothers saying, you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday to everything I did/do. Travis would have never known his last day on Earth would be May 21st, 2012, only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second; so why don t we live each day like its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly, it takes tragedy to make people realize that tomorrow is not granted. I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I was surprised when my mom said, Tell your cousin bye, Brookie. . Since the day he moved out, he continued to be my very best friend. Use of this description could be that fall is upon the wood or the trees perhaps once white have yellowed with age. Before the traveler is a road split into two different directions, he has no idea where each road leads. When one decides to follow God a divided path becomes the focus of our lives, do we continue down the path we have been on our whole lives, and is well known but will surely lead to death? On the other hand, do we choose the path God would have us take not only changing our lives, but in the end instead of an eternity spent in the cold grip of death, we find eternal life? Why does the title emphasize the road not taken? The emphasis on the road not taken is Frost s way of making us think as we read this poem that no matter which way the speaker chose to go a road would always stay not taken. The speaker intended to complete his journey on the chosen path, then at another time go back, and take the other direction. What are the rhythm patterns that Frost uses in the poem (include the scansion and technical methods: alliteration, assonance, and consonance)? Frost uses both masculine rhyme and end rhyme. The masculine rhyme is the rhyming sounds that contain only one syllable such as wood, stood, and should. The end rhyme pattern that Frost uses is, A, B, A, A, B C, D, C, C, D E, F, E, E, F and G, H, G, G, H. (Arp Johnson, 2009). • 12. Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Jack London s To Build... Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Jack London s To Build A Fire Stephen Crane s short story, The Open Boat speaks directly to Jack London s own story, To Build A Fire in their applications of naturalism and views on humanity. Both writers are pessimistic in their views of humanity and are acutely aware of the natural world. The representations of their characters show humans who believe that they are strong and can ably survive, but these characters many times overestimate themselves which can lead to an understanding of their own mortality as they face down death. In To Build A Fire , the main conflict throughout is man versus naturealthough it would be inaccurate to say that nature goes out of its way to assault the man. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The man laughs him off because he views himself as superior towards other men and believes that he can easily survive in the wilderness. The Man s ego allowed him to think that he had everything under control, even though his fingers were numb from the cold. Eventually, survival becomes the primary focus of the Man, who is trying, in vain, to protect himself against the unforgiving force of nature. He fruitlessly tries to warm himself back up, which is a direct contrast to the complete indifference displayed by Yukon. The environment merely remains the same and does not care one way or another as to whether the man survives or not. Jack London also uses numbers to reinforce the harsh realities of the Yukon, such as how fifty degrees below zero is the marker for the danger zone. The use of numbers shows the desperation of the Man s situation and readers can slowly see his situation deteriorating further and further. Also, the idea of naturalism claims that the world is knowable only through objective science and that hard facts, such as temperature degrees, makes this particular world knowable and present some semblance of familiarity. Jay Gurian comments in his article, The Romantic Necessity in Literary Naturalism: Jack London , about how London, and other naturalist writers deal with the forces of nature: But as every nineteenth century ... • 15. Importance Of Writing Reflection When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal. As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective. As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The people of these areas could have just left and said enough is enough, and yes some did leave. However, a vast majority of the population of these areas has stayed a vowed to rebuild. This is what I call resilience, to stay where everything you owned is gone, there s no power, food shortage, gas shortage, little to no water to drink. You have to agree that this is definitely resilience shown by these people, to overcome difficulties, to bounce back and recover, to never give up or give in. When giving up would be the easy way out, these people have shown true resilience staying and fighting for what you believe in. Another example of resilience, I just experienced personally within my own classroom as an automotive instructor was, when one of my student s mother recently passed away from stage four breast cancer, the student could have just shut down and not been able to continue in class, but this student has shown great strength and character, by continuing to be in class everyday by showing real strength and courage and resilience he has been working through ... We struggle to define ourselves within their world, or to even break away from their world. Often, the birth of our self is defined in a moment of truth or a moment of heightened self awareness that is the culmination of a group of events or the result of a life crisis or struggle. In literature we refer to this birth of self as an epiphany. Alice Munrowrites in Boys and Girls about her own battle to define herself. Ideas for creating a common goal are: create and/or review the team s mission, discuss why they exist in the first place, allow each team member to express their commitment, create a theme (i.e., poster, symbol, motto) that portrays the team as a unit, and use the common purpose to prioritize the teams actions ( Building a Collaborative Team Environment ). • 21. Toys And Its Impact On Children And Their Performance Of... Toys play an important role in childhood development as children learn roles and skills from playing. As a result, the toys children are subjected to have an affect on which roles, interests, and skills are learned and practiced. Through Lego s product Duplo, I will demonstrate the influence particular gendered toys have on children and their performance of traditional gender roles. Gender, which is a learned performance, is something society has been taught from a very early age and toy advertising has played a significant role in reinforcing the performance. One tradition that is reinforced and naturalized by society is the ideology of a male dominated society, representing strong characteristics of heterosexuality and masculinity; also known as hegemonic masculinity. Therefore, using Ideological Criticism, I will analyze how through the branding and design of Legos Duplo toys, children have been constructed to do gender differently, ultimately perpetuating and reinforcing hegemonic masculinity. Lego s Duplo Series Context Billund, Denmark in the early 1900s. In the small village of Billund, Denmark, Ole Kirk Kristiansen began building his dream of toy manufacturing in a woodworking shop. Within this shop, the first Lego toys of wooden ducks, planes, and trucks were created. Soon after, the Lego name, stemming from the Danish word Legt Godt was developed. It is the man Sundiata is destined to have been, the greatest king, as he is portrayed in D.T Niane s classic tale Sundiata: an epic of old Mali. This classic tale shows the impact of courage, power, and motherly love on the life of the ancient africans kingdom s greatest king. D.T Niane s shows the life of a man once being looked down upon, to now being known as one of the greatest in history. Courage or the act of being courageous is something that can depict if a person is being weak. This act ties into the classic tale when identifying the strength it took Sundiata to walk. Sundiata was at an age where other young boys were gathering objects for their mothers and he simply could not, due to the fact that he was unable to walk. However, In a great effort he straightened up and was on his feet at one go, but the great bar of iron was twisted and had taken the form of a bow. (Page 21) A boy who once couldn t walk was now walking. He who once had to depend on his mother can now be the one his mother depends on. Thus, When Sogolon saw her son standing she stood dumb for a moment, then suddenly she sang these words of thanks to god who had given her son the use of his legs . Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max ) Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser Western Illinois University, Department of Biology Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked plants (1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25 oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple comparison test will be used to determine the significance of the data. But as the war ended, men returned home, and women were pushed back into the households. This piece of history plays an essential role in how the women were presented in the film noir. Hollywood offers a progressive representation of those working women who went back quietly. The femme fatale took the strength of independence during the war. The women were then portrayed as cold and cruel, directly reflecting upon the sour truth of the reality the unfair treatment the women. Both Phyllis and Brigid were manipulative, controlling, and powerful women; consistently depicting the irony. Moreover, the time period of 1960s and 70s, was the period of women s liberation and feminism. At the same time, the country was also experiencing the post Watergate world. • 35. The Story Of Ghosts By Henrik Ibsen Duty To Death The story of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen shows us a multitude of issues, whether the readers think the piece as a basic form of literature or believe that the scripture shows the issues and lies or the fighting facts of injustice in the text. The constant fight between free will and duty in this story triumphs the characters of Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders as they convene over what they think is right and what they are bound to do, even as the smaller character of Regine slightly deals with the same issue. Duty comes up in repeated cycles throughout the script of Ghosts, and the roles people are bound to in their life relays to the role they act in society. The duty of Mrs. Alving is no soft tale, as we are told of her husband s horrid affairs. The wife and mother of her nature and setting is duty bound to protect her husband s reputation, no matter how unsavory he is, and to sacrifice everything for her son. In return, the son must love his mother. In a way, we question the duty of the mother and ask whether or not it was right of Mrs. Alving to cover her husband s actions from her son, Osvald. Despite Ibsen s opinion of conspiracy, the cover up and how he writes the script as if he supports the hiding and the sacrifice, the reader on their own must make a choice in the matter. For Mrs. Alving to know her motherly duty and protect her son during his young years was a courageous execution for the paths she found available. As said by George Bernard Shawin ... Many of the people in Uganda are uneducated and therefore unable to obtain jobs, resulting in a massive unemployment rate in Uganda. She decided to give up the life she had in the United States to travel to Uganda, only relying on funds from her family and friends back home to help support her and her efforts. This eventually led to the development of Amazima Ministries, whose mission was to provide food, medical care, education, and work to those in need in Uganda (Katie Davis Speaks). Today, Davis s ministry provides for nearly 1,600 children, some who would not even be alive today without it. One of the first children Davis s ministry provided for was a young girl named Agnes, only nine when Davis found her. Her parents had both died from HIV, and she was left to care for her two younger sisters. She had no money and little access to food and water. Davis took Agnes under her wing and gave her the care that she so desperately needed. Agnes and her sisters are now healthy, and Agnes is a caregiver for Amazima (Davis 154). Amazima has had a huge impact on a multitude of children, and Agnes s story is a reflection of that impact. The ministry has had the ability to completely turn children s lives around, providing them with opportunities that they have only ever dreamed about. Davis, now twenty one, is a mom to thirteen young Ugandan girls who do not have families that can support or provide for them. Davis admits she could never have imagined this was where her journey in Uganda would lead her, but she has kept the mindset that one [child] is enough (Davis 204). It is considered as the supplement of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and the main target for the Kyoto protocol is to reduce the emissions of anthropogenic greenhouse gases.
