Queer theory is a post structuralist theory that emerged in the early 1990s from the
fields of queer and women s studies. The theory builds on both feminist challenges to
the idea that gender is part of the essential self and upon gay and lesbian studies close
examination of the socially constructed nature of sexual activity and identities. This
theory focuses on the mismatches between sex, gender, and desire. Queerness has
been prominently identified as bisexual, lesbian, and gay people, although it also
includes different categories such as cross dressing, intersex bodies and identities,
gender ambiguity and gender corrective surgery. The queer theory is an attempt to
expose the different lifestyles that people may be unaware of and to give them
several categories in the LGBTQ community to look at; correlates sexes, genders,

Hi. I m Rose and I just recently finished watching the film entitled The Help
directed by Tate Taylor, as well as reading the literary equivalent by Kathryn
Stockett from which it was adapted. This movie is set during the civil rights
movement of the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi. This movie stars Skeeter Phelan
(Emma Stone), a white women fresh out of college who is an aspiring writer. She
teams up with Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) and Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer)
to collect stories from the point of view of African American maids, in an attempt to
expose the hardships of being black and inflict change on their little town. Those
who have read the book may judge the movie too quickly, but after analysing and
comparing the two objectively I have come to the conclusion that Tate Taylor has
done an impeccable job at creating an accurate adaptation of the original novel and
tries his best to recreate the cast, plot, themes, and setting whilst condensing it into 2
hours of entertainment. Theme Throughout the book, there are many themes; the
most obvious one being racism. The whole book is centred around bringing
awareness to the dilemma both to the characters and the reader. The movie does an
exceptional job at making sure this theme is achieved in a way that has a similar

not as jazz, electro swing can actually help us rethink the lines we draw between jazz
and dance music because it shares the function of early jazz more than jazz as art
music. What is electro swing anyway? A lot of people ask themselves this
question, and nobody seems to have a closed answer. The website electro
swing.com tries, but ultimately concludes that it s rather difficult to give a precise
definition. According to Tom Hyland, of The Electric Swing Circus, electro swing
is not even necessarily an independent genre in its own right, but more of a flavor ,
a way of adding swing to existing electro genres. This would situate the genre in

Within the chapter How to Tell a True War Story, O Brien writes about a story that
Mitchell Sanders recounts to be true. The surrealist part is when Sanders talks about
how they heard noises within the forests of Nam. Sanders says, ...but after a while
they start hearing you won t believe this they hear chamber music... Then after a
while they hear gook opera and a glee club... (Pg. 71). When he says this he is really
adding details to pad the story up. Like when Sanders say, The whole country.
Vietnam. The place talks. It talks. Understand? Nam it truly talks. (Pg. 71). He means
to say that he added those things that they heard because there were sounds they
heard that couldn t be explained. Later on he says that those things they heard... Show
his frustration at not quite getting the details right, not quite pinning down the final
and definitive truth. (Pg. 72). When Sanders tells O Brien about how he made up
those parts, Last night , man, I had to make up a few things. Yeah, but listen, it s
still true. Those six guys, they heard wicked sound out there. They heard sound
you just plain won t believe. (Pg. 73). Sanders explains to O Brien that these
sounds they heard were sounds unbelievable and had to be replaced with the
Opera, choir boys, glee club, and so on. Without these small lies there is no truth
or even a moral, especially in a true war story a moral is hidden deep within a war
story something you have to dig for within a deeper meaning. Like when O Brien
asks what is the moral to his story and Sanders doesn t give him a straight answer,
well more of a shrouded answer. All right, what s the moral? Forget it. No go

Since a true war story doesn t have a clear moral, it s something much deeper and is
lost within the retelling of the story. When Sanders says that the quietness is the
moral, he means that in life there is always quietness, but if you listen hard enough
then you ll hear what life is trying to tell

In this particular film adaptation of the novel Emma, the character Jane Austen
presents in the novel is the type of person who likes to meddle in other people s
lives. In this particular adaptation of Emma, Emma is portrayed through the

In the Tale of Genji, there are various poems that make an appearance, each holding
a special meaning for the creator and the recipient. The waka poetry pervades the life
of the Heian Court, revealing the character s personality, illuminating their thoughts,
and expressing the love and desires they have. Thus giving us, the readers a
clarification of the relationships and progression of the characters. To answer the
prompt of who would I date based on the poetry, I would say that there is no one in
particular I would date. Not because their poetry wasn t romantic or didn t provoke
a dialogue, but rather because if the character was alive today, I think, it wouldn t

of emotions from the readers, possibly because of past experiences or because the
situation the character was in is relatable. I can t speak for others, but some of the
poems present in the Tale of Genji, and the situation that brought upon that poem, I
can relate to and understand why the character felt that way.
